Truck slid into a ditch. While driving out in 4-wheel drive, all four side airbags deployed. The truck was not in danger of rolling over. I was driving only 1-3 mph, and the truck was leaning, but not anywhere near tipping. After airbag deployment, i finished getting out of the ditch and returned home while dealing with limited visibility (1-1/2 miles).

Three service calls to fix warning lightcheck air bag. Oneto replace passengerside above door air bag two to fix the airbag connecter on two driver side air bags.this started in october 2015 and last one was may 2016. Is this a issue with this vehicle? why so many airbag problems in a short period of time.

Had dent repaired on drivers fender, picked up truck from dealer, drove 4 miles home to put in garage.next morning at 5:30 am discovered truck fire in garage due to electrical wiring harnesses.extensive damage to garage and garage floor.extensive damage to truck's electrical and engine area.dealer told me it is a gm problem.now dealing with gm legal dept. But this could be a major problem with all 2015/2016 trucks,no warning what so ever prior to incident.vehicle is a 2015 colorado not 1 year old with 8300 miles.

Same thing as my last complaint. I'm driving straight down the road at 40 miles an hour and lost power steering. Audible alarm went off and 2 messages popped up service power steering and service stabilitrak. Luckily i was on an empty road and stopped and restarted my car. It took 3 times for it to go away then as i'm starting to drive again it comes up again and i had to restart the car.

My colorado has 42k miles and on 5 different occasions i have been driving 45+ mph and suddenly warnings begin popping up on the console, "stabilitrak disabled" "traction control disabled" "power steering disabled, please drive with care" turning the truck off and then back on temporarily fixes the problem but it is continuing to happen and is incredibly dangerous! there is a recall for 2015 colorados for this exact problem; however, gm specified a 2 month manufacturing window where it applies to the recall. Gm needs to step up and recall all 2015 colorados for this before someone gets killed.

There were no previous issues of any kind until i tried to leave work one day. Two warning lights came on when i started the vehicle: "service power steering, and service stabilitrak, drive with care". I tried backing out and could not turn the wheel. I had it towed to a mechanic the following day and found out that other 2015 colorados have a recall on this exact part. Power steering could have gone out at any time while i was driving and the weight of the vehicle could have caused a serious accident, depending on when and where it happened, seeing as how i could not budge the steering wheel. I contacted chevrolet and was told my vehicle "wasn't covered" under the recall. They had no desire to assist me in any way. The mechanic i took the truck to is having trouble ordering the part because it is on nationwide backorder. I wonder why? if they can even fix it, it will cost me close to two thousand dollars at this point, for a safety issue that should be covered by chevrolet. Please help get this recall extended to every 2015 colorado before someone dies.

My colorado has been having a problem where my power steering cuts out while driving and on startup, i researched and it seems to be a common problem and a recall, i contacted my local dealer explained to them what was going on and i was told that it did have the recall for my exact issue but that it had already been fixed, it absolutely has not or needs to be fixed again, it's an extreme hazard it happens daily at this point and i really do not know what else to do. I do not know who did the repairs the first time i bought the truck used but i was told the problem has been taken care of but it has not please help thanks.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving unknown speeds, the brake pedal was stiff and failed to respond. Additionally, while the ignition switch was in the on position, the vehicle failed to start and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the vacuum booster and electrical system needed to be repaired. The contact called the local dealer (first choice auto, 2966 s cobb dr se, smyrna, ga 30080, (770) 444-0058) and was referred to another local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-4597870930. The failure mileage was 102,000.

Key has been sticking in ignition, unable to remove.ive kept the key in the ignition and the battery has needed jumped. Dealer tells me this is a very common problem on chevy colorados from 2015 and 2016 as i have now discovered on multiple chevy forums.

I have been having issues with my key getting stuck since i purchased my car in 2017. When repairs first started it was under warranty (bumper to bumper) and they replaced key ignition. The problem happened less afterwards but didnt stop, i stuck it out due to actually loving my truck other than the situation. Well this winter, 2018 as it got cold the problem got worse to the point my battery has died twice due to the key being stuck. Now the dealership (parks buick gmc) says that they "think" it may be the shifter but they do not know for sure and they are telling me i now have to pay $491 to get this done. I've seen a complaint online that states someone got shifter replaced and the key still kept getting stuck. On top of all this i've call customer service and was promised a senior advisor (douglas) would contact me in 48 hours and he still has not contacted me.

While driving on an interstate, with a fair amount of traffic, the power steering assist failed with a message stating so.this incident happened while on a corner in a rain storm next to a tractor trailer.this put my safety at risk.not only did that system fail, but so did the traction control system, along with non functioning speedometer, tachometer, and temperature gauge.this system is available for inspection, however it tends to clear itself and happen only when your driving the vehicle.the problem has not been reproduced by a dealer as i will not drive it.i am in the process of contacting a dealer about the problem.there where no advanced warnings that the system reported prior to the system failing, after it failed then a message was displayed.

I was driving onto an exit ramp and felt the steering get stiff. The informaction screen above the steering wheel flashed yellow lights and the message "service power steering, drive safely". I proceeded to grip the steering wheel harder and slow down till i could safely pullover. The backup camera also stopped working, which makes me think this is an electrical issues since the car has electrical power steering. Once i turned the car off and on back to normal but this seems to be affecting other 2015 colorado and gmc canyons. Due to the weight and size of this vehicle this issue can cause a major and fatal accident.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the ignition key seized in the ignition and was difficult to remove. The failure recurred. The contact called ray chevrolet located at 39 n us-12, fox lake, il 60020, (847) 587-3300, and was informed to bring the vehicle in to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the radio, turn signals, back-up camera, and power steering went out. The service power steering and stabilitrak warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000 (steering) was closed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

During an out of town trip, my electric glitch, from the dashboard to the navigation as if were going to shut down! now i'm in a parking lot and the dash is telling me to service the airbag.

Just started driving my vehicle and went to turn and the steering went out, warnings ā€œservice power steering. Drive with care.ā€¯ ā€œservice stabilitracā€¯ and ā€œservice batter charging systemā€¯ came on and vehicle stopped.attempts to turn it back on and ā€œjumpā€¯ the battery were futile. Fortunately it was a sunday with limited traffic.had it been a busy day i could easily have been hit as my vehicle died in the middle of the road.my son, young male and was able to muscle the steering wheel to the edge of the road. Had it been an elderly driver, the situation could have been much different.somehow, my vin is not included in this well known issue with 2015 chevy colorados.vehicle was towed to a dealership in fayetteville, nc and, hopefully, will be looked at tomorrow.vehicle is available for inspection. This is the first time this has happened.the truck drove fine prior to the problem.i have photos of the warning messages.

Electrical power failure while driving.vehicle power shut off (2 seconds or so) as i was approaching stop light then came back on.this issue caused me to loose steering and reset all electrical memory systems in my truck. Concern is if this happens when going faster speeds could prove dangerous to family and others. Less that 30k miles on vehicle.

While driving at 70 mph power steering went out.had immediate loss of control of the vehicle.pulled over shut the vehicle down. Restarted the vehicle power steering returned.

I was driving down the road at approx 30 mph and the power steering cut off and warning lights went on about service power steering. Complete loss of power steering, barely made it to side of road. I turned the car off and on and the power steering came back on. Luckily i was going straight down the highway when it happened.about 2 weeks later the same thing happened, i was driving about 30mph and the power steering cut out and the warning light came on. I barely able to pull to side of road and turned truck off, turned it back on and power steering came back. Again i was lucky to just be going straight down the same highway.i took the vehicle to chevy dealer in cerritos(penske) and they said they could not get the power steering to fail(i think its crazy to try because that could cause a major accident)after doing research online several other 2015 chevy colorado trucks having exact same issue, and they are covered by a recall but mine is not listed in the recall.why isn't mine included in the recall with the exact same problems?!i suspect chevy is being cheap and not wanting to pay, very sad because this problem is so dangerous!

Front gauge panel not responding. Only the battery gauge is working. A service message shows for all affected areas.no indication of transmision shift, speed, temperature, oil, tachometer and ohter features not shown on panel. Vehicle still able to run.

In our truck the power steering has been off and on since 2017.we called and visited multiple dealerships who admitted gmc/chevy knows there is a problem but our vehicle vin was not associated with any fixes.sinceapril 2021 we have had zero power steering, also the stabilitraklight has always come on at the time of power steering loss.we have always had to use this truck for work and bought a 4 cyl for that exact purpose because its good on gas.i'm a nurse and travel sometimes 200+ miles daily for my job.i've had multiple near misses since the beginning of this problem and so has my husband, that could've ended very badly due to losing power steering in the middle of a turn etc.well, my husband did have an accident january 15, 2021 when he had no power steering on a major highway.he was unable to evade a crash in front of him due to the steering loss. We are in an impossible situation and no dealership (they say this is an issue "way over dealership level") will help.gmc/ chevy doesn't care, there is " no fix available" even though at may this year we have finally been added to the recall. Why is it i have to worry about my own and my husbands life whenever one of us has to drive this vehicle.the recall literally states driving will increase the risk of a crash. Why is it ok?will somebody please help us? please

Power steering cuts out while driving on freeway. Can possibly get into an accident if taking a bend at freeway speeds. This started happening around 69000 miles on the odometer. It can be reset if pulled over and turning off engine and turning back on but there also is a problem with the ignition not letting the key turn to the off position. The shifter assembly has been replaced but problem is still there.

This issue has been occurring since we purchased the vehicle in october of 2019.the vehicle will be traveling at various speeds at varius rpm's in various weather conditions.vehicle symptoms as follows in order of occurrence:1) engine will momentarily hesitate,2) error code service stabilitrak will be presented on screen with service engine light and traction control light on3)rpm gauge and spedometer gauge will go to zero4) power steering system failure "drive with care" error code presents on screen5) failure of power steering system occurs with no control of power steering system6) driver will secure engine and computer system and wait 60 seconds7) computer audibly resets with a click8) engine will restart with 5-key turns9) error will occur again sporadicallythese symptoms are extremely difficult to replicate and will sporadically occur, sometimes with a complete failure of the power steering system and other times with a failure ofthe stabilitrak system only.driver believes that this is occuring due to malfunctioning steering gear.steering gear has been recalled previously for vehicle make/ model and year but truck does not fall under manufacture date.driver believes issue is related to recalled item on other vehicles. Driver has had vehicle serviced at three different locations for a total of 4 different visits. Jeff belzers in lakeville serviced vehicle twice and was in possession of vehicle for nearly 4 months trying to fix issue.replaced steering gear.belzers was also dealer who sold vehicle. (oct2019-feb2020 visit)suburban chevrolet service center in eden prairie visit once inconclusive (november 2019 visit)power chevrolet service center in newport oregon visit once inconclusive (july 2020 visit)driver is extremely worried about safety and drivability of vehicle and knows of several similar cases with vehicle.

I have a 2015 chevy colorado that had a power steering recall , mine has 68,000 miles on it and the check power steering warning light comes on continuously. I have gotten nothing but a run around from the chevy and gmc customer service. They say my truck was not made at the recall plant.,my question is how do they know if some of the parts were notfrom the recall plant?? no one will help me and this is serious, it may be only a matter of time before the power steering goes, and this could potentially end badly... Please advise

Power steering went out 3 times while driving. Message lit up on dash.stopped car and restarted to correct.roughly every 250 miles. Happened 9/1/2019,9/8/2019, and again 9/14/2019.dropped off at jim butler chevrolet on 9/17/2019, just received call today 9/19/2019 that a specialist is now looking at it.3 days no car has been difficult.had 16 year old daughter or even wife been driving there is no way they could have controlled it, very dangerous.first time on gravel road in oakland arkansas, 2nd time most dangerous on interstate 44 in st. Louis at 65 mph, third time in bolivar missouri pulling out of gas station.

Power steering on my 2015 chevy colorado as well as stable track goes out intermittently.it can happen when i'm driving or starting the car.turning the vehicle off and on again usually fixes the issue temporarily.took the vehicle to the mechanic and codes co545, u0420, b1325 and u04135 which are the steering wheel torque sensor, invalid data received from power steering control module, control module power current voltage below threshold, and invalid data received from brake control module.the truck is barely 4 years old and to replace the part will be 2300.it is exhibiting the same issues as the recall in 2016 and searching around i find more people having the same issues.

Unable to remove key at times, key will not turn all the way off at intermintenttimes, when putting vehicle in park.

On 7/22/20 driving home from work when the stabilitrack service light came on and the power steering service soon light came on. After about 30 seconds the light went off. On 7/16/20 the stabilitrack service light came on twice and went off on the way home from walmart. Both times were on a straight highway speeds of about 65 with the power steering going out for 30 seconds.

Battery saver active came on and the truck lost all steering and transmission would not engage. Loss of power steering.

The 2015 colorado has an electrical/lighting problem.while the lighting is not a big issue, the fact that it may indicate a more serious electrical problem is.when entering the truck, the cargo light comes on, as it is supposed to, but when exiting the truck, the reverse lights come on instead of the cargo light.i noticed this with our fleet vehicle, and have since heard from many owners who have the same problem.

The touchscreen information display began erroneously accepting touch input when nothing has been touched.it happens without regard to temperature, vehicle motion or any other factors observed.this causes the vehicle to rapidly flash distracting displays on the screen, randomly start using the voice system to ask the driver for input, changes audio sources/radio stations, and hangs up on bluetooth connected phone calls.all of these factors can distract the driver and cause a crash.

2015 chevrolet colorado, z71 trim, v6 gasoline enginethe ignition key is at times stuck in the ignition with no reliable way for removal. The switch will turn far enough to shut down the engine, however the cylinder will not turn far enough back to allow for removal of the key.there are several problems related to this exact issue online, meaning this is not a "one off" type of problem. There is also a gm service bulletin covering this issue. Bulletin pi1429multiple times we have had to leave the key in the ignition as it could not be removed. The local dealer was unhelpful when contacted. They were unsure of the problem, unsure if it would be covered under warranty, the estimated cost, or even able to find the bulletin after i gave them the number.

There is a low voltage signal associated with the power steering assist. There is a signal at the start of the vehicle warning the driver that power steering must be serviced. Dealership evaluated and proposed replacing the power steering module entirely and wanted to charge full value. This issue seems related to chevy recall #15595 and the more recent gm recall of similar concern to the broader family of suvs and trucks produced by gm. The lack of acknowledgement by the dealership and manufacturer of this issue is unsafe to the public.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle independently lost power and an unknown warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed a burning odor inside the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle caught on fire. The emergency brake had to be applied to stop the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The vin was unavailable.

I was driving around curve at approximately 45 mph and my power steering went out. I had very little control over steering at this point, but finally was able to navigate to the side of road. Had to turn truck off and then restarted, truck did same thing few miles down the road with notification of power steering failure. Few more miles and stabilitrack malfunction began being displayed. This is very dangerous, since you have very little steering control when this happens.

While driving on highway power steering goes out causing loss of control of vehicle. Cannot turn vehicle.

I lost power steering while driving straight down the road at 50 miles an hour. An audible alarm went off and a messagepopped up "service power steering, drive with care" then a second message popped up "service stabilitrak." i pulled over to the side of the road and restarted my car and it went back to normal.

Key will not release from ignition when vehicle is placed in park.owner has to put truck in drive/park in various number of attempts to get key to turn to off position so it can be removed from ignition.issue is intermittent, i found a service bulletin linking the issue to a weak transmission shift spring but no recall has been issued.there are many reporting of this issue online.will be taking truck to winegardner chevrolet in leonardtown, md for service for this issue, it has 37,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving at unknown speeds, the power steering failed and there was an abnormal buzzing noise emerging from the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-4441944761. The failure mileage was 63,000. The vin was not available.

The power steering goes out without warning, stbilitrak also.car rattles in the front steering area when ging over bumps in the road.there is a recall for 1/15-3/15 build date only which is insane because mine built in 11/14 has the same parts and the same defects.dealer and gm refuse to help.claim there is no fix when they know there is.it is even listed on the chevy and nthsa websites

I proceeded to grip the steering wheel harder and slow down till i could safely pullover. Trucks steering assist device light comes on at every start up and steering goes out completely almost ever time i drive it now

My power steering went out on a 45mph turn and nearly lost control of my truck. I took it to the dealer for them to say there is no recalls on it. If i were an older person and this happened to them i'm sure they would of lost control because i really had to put a lot of effort to get my truck back on the road. This is definitely a safety issue and it should be taken care of by chevrolet.

Power assist and stability am system warning comes on while driving called chevrolet to see if a recall but no luck.steering wheel becomes stiff and hard to control i think this is a safety issue and should be fixed for being a real problem and should be addressed accordingly..

Please see complaint numbers for background: 11091275, 11091278, 11091280on 1 may 18, after i started the vehicle to go to work, warning light came on, with the message: 'service power steering (ps), drive with care. I cleared the message and another message came on: 'service stabilitrak. Tried shutting down the vehicle and restarted 3 minutes later. Drove to work with no ps.left work and the same thing happen, no ps all the way home. I am not the only owner of a chevrolet colorado 2015 that has experienced the same problem. Except when our vehicles were made, they did not fall under thechevrolet colorado 2015, but we still have the same problem.is the nhtsa going to help?

Experienced a failure of the steering system (power assist stopped working) first on saturday, september 28, 2019 at approximately 35 mph speed; and subsequently on sunday, september 29, 2019 at approximately 65 mph; then, on monday september 30, 2019 and tuesday october 1, 2019. The vehicle is currently with dealer where it was purchased.two warning lights appeared each time the steering failure occurred. Also, two messages display in the digital display within the "dashboard":1. Service power steering (drive with care)2. Service stabilitrakvehicle steering immediately compromised, very difficult to steer with dangerous change in effort required to steer, loss of control due to steering change. In each case, slowed speed to adjust to changed steering condition.upon researching this defect, see many references and documentation to exact same conditions and defect described here. Manufacturer (chevrolet/gm) has acknowledged equipment defect - with recall, but not yet for vin of my vehicle - appealing this here/now due to multiple reports of defect to same year, type vehicles not recognized by chevrolet/gm yet with appeal for confirmation to recall this and similar vehicles (2015 chevrolet colorado)

Vehicle was in motion, when suddenly a loss of power steering warning came, almost making me lose control of the vehicle while on the highway, as i was in the middle of a turn. It has happened 5 times so far.

My truck is acting crazy with multiple warnings in dash display, first one is stability track warning, steering warnings and the speed, temperature and revolution gauges start going up and down while the warnings are in the display. Also the have tw warning that i don't know what means.

From 30 mar 18 to 30 apr 18, every time i drove the vehicle, i would loose power steering and stabilitrak after driving about 8 miles. Tried shutting the engine off and wait about 3 minutes and system would be back online.

22 mar 18: while driving my colorado ltat 30mph on my way to work,, warning light came on, with the message: 'service power steering (ps), drive with care. I cleared the message and another message came on: 'service stabilitrak. I went to work and parked it and 3 hours later, steering was normal.

Power steering turns off while driving or even when stationary. Stability track light also comes on. Resets when turning motor off and on again. Intermittent problem since may 2019 - bought as used vehicle.

22 mar 18: while driving my colorado lt at 30mph, warning light came on, with the message: 'service power steering (ps), drive with care'. I cleared the message and another message came on: 'service stabilitrak'. I went to work and parked it and 3 hours later, steering was normal.23 mar 18: on the way to the dealer the truck had no problem withpower steering.(o'reilly chevrolet in tucson, az) and explained them the situation. The dealer test drove the vehicle and had no loss of ps. Vehicle was through the dtcs and found dtc u0420/42;torque sensor not properly learned. Dealer did pscm setup& cleared the dtcs. Service person stated they had to reboot computer. Afterwards, they drove the vehicle& had no malfunctions - $153.24. On way home, had no problems, to include the weekend. From 26 to 29 mar18, had several instances in which the 'service power steering (ps), drive with care' & 'service stabilitrak' came on with the subsequent loss of ps. On 27 mar 18, i received two emails from onstar stating the following: issue withstabilitrak stability control system in your 2015 chevrolet colorado has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days'& 'issue with antilock braking system in your 2015 chevrolet colorado has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days'. Took back to dealer with copies ofabove related messages, who stated this would allow to better pinpoint the problem with the vehicle. Service manager called later that day stating warranty has expired 2 months ago and that i would be responsible forrepairs. He said steering column had to be replaced & would cost around $1,800, but after consultation with factory, they were willing to cover about half the cost and i would be responsible for about $650.said that they would have to order the part ' back order & no idea when the part would arrive.

Dash lights for abs, traction control, and stabilitrac go on and offi had it in to the dealership before they said it was nothing it back and i am bringing it in again .i read online that there was a recall but only for certain regions also read this is happening in other areas like with me. Seems dangerous with brakes and traction control and stability. It happens while i am on the road would hate to have myself or someone else hurt if there is something wrong.

See complaint number: 11091275 for background. 23 mar 18: on the way to the dealer the truck had no problem with power steering.(oreilly chevrolet in tucson, az) and explained them the situation. The dealer test drove the vehicle and had no loss of ps. Vehicle was through the dtcs and found dtc u0420/42; torque sensor not properly learned. Dealer did pscm setup & cleared the dtcs. Service person stated they had to reboot computer. Afterwards, they drove the vehicle & had no malfunctions - $153.24. On way home, had no problems, to include the weekend.

While driving down a main road at 50 mph the car started dinging and indicated that power steering and stabilitrack need servicing. The vehicle instantly became very difficult to steer. Luckily i was able to safely pull off of the road and did not crash.

I lost power steering while driving straight down the road at 50 miles an hour. An audible alarm went off and a messagepopped up "service power steering, drive with care" then a second message popped up "service stabilitrak." i pulled over to the side of the road and restarted my car and it went back to normal.

Power assist and stability am system warning comes on while driving . I proceeded to grip the steering wheel harder and slow down till i could safely pullover. The speedometer the tack and temperature gauges start oging up and down. Turn key off and it stops happen ten times going backtow deal this is very dangerus also loss of power when this happens

Driving vehicle on road and warming for stability track comes on then warning for power steering comes on and i lose all power steering. It has happened five times in the past three weeks

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph the stability control/traction control and power steering went out on my truck. This is very unsafe and many other year models are having this problem. This should have a recall on and forced to repair.it is a good thing i was close to an exit top get off the highway.

We purchased a 2015 chevy colorado in march of 2015. Mid may 2017 we ran into a huge issue where randomly the power steering goes out. Since that day it has been going off randomly, and the only way to try to reset it is it to keep turning the car on and off until it kicks back on-often at the same time it often says stabilitrak disabled.usually this happens when the vehicle is in motion, but sometimes has also been already the case when the car is first turned on.we have brought this to the dealer's/service manager's attention every time we go to the dealer (we have gotten every oil change, service and inspection done at a chevy dealer since the day we purchased the vehicle) and the response we get is that we need to bring the vehicle in while it's "coded". Frankly- this is absurd and not at all feasible.

Service power steering, drive with care and service stability track lights turn on due to a defective steering gearbox according to the dealer shop. It makes the wheel to bind and gets hard to turn. It has happened during driving (in motion) in the middle of the streets, also at stops or relights when fully stopped, and also while in "parking" (stationary) and while turning. It has not happened on a highway. Every time i turned the car off and let it sit for some minutes and turned the car back on then the lights would reset by themselves and i would be able to drive normally again, but then it randomly will happen again and again. First time i took it the dealer they said the angle sensor needed calibration and that the problem was fixed with that, but then few days later i experienced the same problem and on the second time i took it to the dealer, they found out it was the steering gearbox (part # 84670808).i noticed this problem already has a recall. Recall is for 2015 colorado manufactured january 6, 2015 to march 17, 2015. My vehicle falls into this category but hasn't been recalled. This is a safety concern, it can cause accidents due not lack of control of vehicle.

During an out of town trip, my electric glitch, from the dashboard to the navigation as if were going to shut down! now i'm in a parking lot and the dash is telling me to service the airbag.

I was driving down the highway and the service stabilitrak and service power steering messages popped up. So i pulled over and shut the truck off, then started it again, the messages went away so i got back on the highway. After getting back up to speed the messages popped back up, so pulled over and shut off the truck again. The messages did not come back on the rest of my drive. My truck has popped up the service power steering message before but never while i was driving.

Lost power steering, warning light came on after the issue, could not steer the vehicle, luckily it happened in the driveway, very dangerous if it happened on the road warning lights for power steering service (drive carefully) and stability controll warning

I was driving on the freeway anda light came on and said service power steering drive carefully. I then pulled over and let the car sit to see if it was a error. Nope back on the freeway and it happened again. Then shortly after a light came on and said service stable track. I've been reading lots of links with people saying they are having the same problem.

While driving two different alarms flashes on dash screen; 1) "service stabilitrak" and 2) "service power steering, drive with care." vehicle then lose power steering. I have learned that if i pull over, stop and turn vehicle off and then back on the alarms clear and i have power steering once again. I have noticed this situation while driving on flat highway and when vehicle is a little off balance such as on a dirt road. I have taken to the dealer, explained situation and referred dealer to comments online. Dealer stated the alarm history is clear and therefore they have no idea what to do. I purchased vehicle around september 2018 from dealer and this situation has happened approximately 18 times over 4 months or so. It has alarmed, i've cleared it and then alarm again in the same hour. It has also gone weeks without alarming. .

Having problems with the power steering assist.very difficult to turn vehicle while turning.no power assist available.

Steering or power assist system stops working making it hard or imposible to steer. This happens at any time, with vehicle stopped or in motion.my vehicle was manufactured 12/14 so it is not included in recall # 16v054000, but nonetheless the malfunction is the same.

Driving on highway and truck alarmed and lost power steering, again.

While driving the vehicle has lost power steering assist and stabilitrak intermittently on multiple occasions.alerts flash on the screen and warning lights illuminate and ofcourse the steering will jerk back from a turn (if you're actively in one).fortunately, i have taken photos in the past and actually had it occur on my way to an oil change today.they checked the code it comes back to "c0545" which can be found on gm bulletin "pit5437b" that identifies this problem back in september 2015.the cherolet service technician who diagnosed this on my vehicle informed my service department adviser that the vehicle is not safe with the problem, which of course was relayed back to me.so, if a problem chevy identified in 9/15 makes a vehicle unsafe to operate, why does chevrolet want me to pay $1700 + tax instead of including my vehicle in the recall that addressed the same issue (nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000)?

Lst power steering on my way home from work april the 23rd 2019. 2 codes came up on the screen stability track issue and no power steering please drive with caution. Was able to drive 3 miles till i could pull off the road, turned off the vehicle restarted codes were gone from the screen. Was able to drive the vehicle 3 miles to my house. Next morning left for work drove 2 miles from the house same issue occurred had to drive another 4 miles till i could pull off the road as i live in a rural town. Turn the vehicle off turned it back on and it was able to drive to work when i contacted our local chevy gmc dealer in russell springs kentucky. Diagnosis was code c0545 torque sensor fault found e ternal short in the sensor which caused no power steering. Cost me $1800 jury place the steering gear and module in for them to reprogram the torque sensor the wiring harness had failed it had shorted out. Contacted gmc chevy customer service my then number was not on the list for recall. Contacted dealer for additional help they were not able to help me. Looking for a total refund of a$1800 as even though my the number is not under the list this is the same issue as recall number 15595.please contact me [xxx] my name is [xxx]. I purchased this vehicle from phillip'schevrolet in frankfort illinois february 2015.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc

My truck rang 3 times and a prompt showed up on the dash saying service power steering and loss of stabilitrack. I was sitting at the drive thru and had to pull straight into a parking spot because turning the vehicle became pretty much impossible. My truck only has 30,000 miles on it.

Back in early 2018 prior to my bumper to bumper expiring, i had the check power steering and stabilitrak come on on dic. I took it to dealer but they stated could not find any issues. This keeps happening but everytime i turn truck off and then back on as stated in owner's manual, problem goes away. More recent past week, it has been happenings again but more frequent to which at times, turning off and waiting then turning back on,the problem persists. This problem happens various times (while driving city, highway, as i'm turning vehicle on for first time in the day, while backing up, while parking). I have mentioned and taken in to dealer or other places but no codes are found and problem cannot be duplicated.

I'm driving down the road at about 45 miles an hour and i got two messages pop up and says service stabilitrak and service power steering drive. Than i had total loss of power steering at 45 miles an hour.

I was on my why home coming up to a red light. I was at a crawl when service stabilitrak came up on my screen. I lost all power steering, so it was difficult to turn the vehicle at any speed. I have looked up to see if anyone else has had this problem. I have found that it isn't super common but seems like way too many vehicles are having this issue.

While driving at speed traction control or stability (t/c) dash deactivation warning lite and audio warning activate, total loss of power steering. Driving on city street ,under speed limit pulling a lightly loaded trailer in a straight line. Managed to pull the truck to the side of the road. Turned off truck checked under the hood nothing was out of place start up everything normal. 3 days later same thing driving in a straight line into a "round about"warning lite and audio warning activate came close to not making the "round about" exit this time without a trailer in tow.shut truck off once on side of road restart everything return to normal. I took truck to my chevy dealer no codes were found. There was a closed recall for this issue. Manager said this truck was recalled and fixed but not while i own it. Dealer took no action since it was ok then and no codes. I'm to bring it back if it in the failed mode. Purchased in nov 2015 used with 2000+ miles now has 42524 miles on it. With little warning steering goes from power to almost impossible.

While driving experienced stability control alarm and steering failure warning.lost power assisted steering.there are hundreds of similar complaints on car web sites.this failure mode was an issue for a narrowly scoped recall in 2015/16.obviously the problem is more wide spread and a recall must be issued for this lethal to driver and others condition.

On two occasions my 2015 chevrolet colorado has lost all power steering assist and stability traction control.on both occasions i was on a highway traveling b/w 50-55 mph.warning lights came on that i had no power steering assist and to be cautious.i had no power steering and had to manually steer to a safe are. After turning the vehicle off and back on, the power steering assist came back. During the incident steering g was difficult and could have led to an accident.

While driving on highway power steering goes out causing loss of control of vehicle. Cannot turn vehicle.

Vehicle was being driven down a flat residential street when power steering and stability track warning lights came on. The power steering then failed making it very difficult to drive. I drove less than a 1/4 of a mile to my residence and turned the truck off. Turned the truck back on after i inspected the under carriage. The errors reappeared. I the. Turn the truck off and on again there was no longer any warnings displayed, and all functions were normal.

While driving at highway speeds an audible warning came on along with a service power steering and a service stabilitrack message. All power steering was lost and the truck became extremely difficult to control. I was able to pull to the side of the road. Power steering returned after a power cycle of the car. However the same failure happened during my next trip, again at highway speeds. I was lucky that this happened on a straight section of freeway both times as the truck is practically uncontrollable when this happened.a review of this issue on the internet reveals that a recall has been issued for this issue. However, it starts with vehicles manufactured in january 2016, but this vehicle was manufactured one month before the recall effective period.

Driving down 4 ln rd, slowed to make left hand turn , two messages pop up and says" service stabilitrak and service power steering drive." then i hadloss of power steering assistance in making turn. Proceed to service staion to check power steerin fluid, couldn't find so asked cell phane where it was located, found there was no such thing and was tod model under recall for power steering problems. Decided best get it home so restarted truck------everything fine. Called to see about recall and was told not valid for my vehicle . So scheduled a service reuest at a lcal chevy dealer.

Power steering failure. My 2015 chevy colorado truck, with 41,153 miles, had a power steering failure 4 days ago (march 22, 2019). While traveling on a dry, smooth road at 30 mph and while braking, the stabilitrak "off" warning light came on, as well as a power steering assist warning. There was an immediate loss of power steering, and the steering wheel was very hard to turn. Initially i thought the truck had stalled, but it had not. I was able to make 2 right-hand turns at slow speed to get out of traffic and into a parking lot. I had to use a lot of muscle to steer the vehicle into the lot. I turned off the truck then restarted and the warning lights were off and power assist returned to normal operation. I have not had any problems with the truck until this episode. I checked the vin number against a recall list and there is no current recall for this vehicle (that i'm aware of). I've placed a call to the chevy dealer service manager and i'm a waiting for a return call. In the meantime my wife is afraid to drive the vehicle, and i keep both hands on the steering wheel wondering if it'll happen again under less favorable circumstances.

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph the stability control/traction control and power steering went out on my truck. This has also happened when starting vehicle. Dealer ship stated all recalls have been completed but having same issueseveryone else, so vehicle was not fixed correctly. This is very unsafe and many others are having this same problem. This should be forced to be repaired. This is a safety hazard for the public, the operator, and anyone riding in the vehicle.

While driving at 70 mph power steering went out.had immediate loss of control of the vehicle.pulled over shut the vehicle down. Restarted the vehicle power steering returned.

While driving in the city and highway the power steering service light and the stability track light turned on couldn't steer very difficult no power to power steering

Turn turns off - truck idles low and feels like it is going to stall when in traffic on the freeway and at a red lights.- i was sitting at a red light and when it turned green and i pushed the gas peddle it did not move. It had turned off. I put it in park and was able to restart it but at least 2 times a day i have to put it in park and push the gas while waiting at a red light so it doesn't turn off.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 55 mph, another driver alerted the contact that smoke was emitting from the engine compartment of the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. The vin was not available.

Vehicle bucks and hesitates when pressing gas pedal riding in 6th gear at speeds up to 50mph. If you give it gas it gets worse and finally after 5 secs it will down shift 2 or 3 gears and go way to fast. I have taken it to dealer twice and they said transmition was still in learning mode and should clear up. Well its at 15,000 miles and still has problem. If i put it tow mode it does not happen...shift point calibration is needed badly on this truck

I was on the interstate going about 75mph when a car aheadof me was going slower so i tried to press my brakes to slow down when i applied the brakes my brake pedal would not move causing me to have to use my emergency brake to slow down. No warning light were on my dash then all of a sudden a message came up on my dash saying service brake system and engine oil low stop engine once i was able to completely stop the truck safely i notice i had no oil in my engine so the issue something to do with my brake system and my engine oil had i not known how to use my emergency brake it could have resulted in injuries or even could have been fatal. There should be some kind of recall especially since you have no warning when it happens.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and would not immediately accelerate. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated and the odor of fuel was present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (chevrolet of wasilla, 3700 e. Parks hwy, wasilla, ak), but the cause of the failures were unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,000.

My truck is acting crazy with multiple warnings in dash display, first one is stability track warning, steering warnings and the speed, temperature and revolution gauges start going up and down while the warnings are in the display. Also the have tw warning that i don't know what means.

Hesitation when acelarating bad almost got in wreck took to chevy dealer they know about it would not do anything about it only has 9050 miles on it.in motion.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. After the vehicle was started, it hesitated to accelerate form a stop. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the technician stated that the transmission needed to be serviced. The vehicle was repaired. After the repair, the vehicle experienced occasional stalling. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000. ...updated 09/14/16

When going just 5 minutes up the road and stopped at a traffic light, the engine stutters, then shuts off. There are no warning lights that come on when this happens. In just one week, it has happened twice. I have reported the engine stuttering before and the mechanics could not find anything wrong with it. I drive an hour to work each day and this is very unsafe. I drive through heavy traffic each day and i am afraid i will get into an accident if this continues to do this. I have owned this vehicle for only 10 months. This is very sad. I thought it was the oil or "bad gasoline".

Engine intermittently idles rough and stalls. Engine stalled while stopped in intersection necessitating a restart. Placed car into neutral, restarted, and was able to exit the intersection butafter light turned red.dealer has not been able to duplicate or diagnose the problem despite two attempts.

Engine stalls out when at a stop. The truck has stalled several times and each time i take it the dealer they say they can't do anything. It also hard idles likes it'd going to stall out.

Purchased 2015 colorado in august. While driving it i have noticed there is a problem with thetransmission and engine synchronization between down shifting and maintaining proper rpm's. When driving a steady speed in traffic and you need to speed up a little the transmission does not down shift. When you give it gas to speed up the engine the rpms are to low and the engine bucks and is lugging very badly. You are at a point it feels like it will stall. This lugging has to be bad for engine. If you press down harder on the accelerator the transmission will down shift suddenly and the truck will surge forward quickly. I have almost run into the rear of vehicles while in traffic and trying to maintain flow speed.

I wanted to reach out to you on chevrolet?s claim that their engine achieves 305 horsepower. While it may be true that their engine achieves this figure it does so at a stated 6800 rpm. The 6800 figure is important to note because the trucks? red line indicating potential dangerous operating conditions start at 6500 rpm. So in essence in order for an owner to achieve 305 hp they would have to be operating their truck in a potentially dangerous manner. Even in the 2015 colorado owner?s manual it indicates the danger of operating above the redline? ?do not operate the engine with the rpm?s in the warning area.?gm is stating that someone can achieve maximum hp only by operating the vehicle in a dangerous manner....really?!i believe it will only be fair for chevrolet to re-evaluate their maximum horsepower prior to their engine hitting the redline.

Engine stalls intermittently when beginning to accelerate from red light/stop sign.stalls occurred within 1 mile distance from where vehicle was started.first stall was at red light moving forward lightly.sifted the vehicle to park, turned key, vehicle turned over and was able to drive once put in park.the vehicle was immediately taken to the chevy service center.the service advisor was able to read an error code p0506 even though the check engine light was not illuminated. Chevy could not schedule an appointment for the vehicle until 5 days later; the error had cleared and they were unable to duplicate the problem.service department declared vehicle safe to drive as it the issue couldn't be duplicated.engine stalled a second time when beginning to cross road at a two-way stop with oncoming traffic. Shifted vehicle to park, turned truck back on, shifted to drive and was able to move from intersection without being hit..the colorado was taken to the dealership a few hours later and the error code had cleared already.service advisor stated the car was safe to drive and there was no work to be done as their were no warning codes and the check engine light was not illuminated.

When i slow down or come to a stop at a red light . The truck starts stalling and doesn't want to go unless i stomp on the gas . I have taken it twice to a chevrolet dealer near where i live. First time they said they had to do something to the computer . Second time they said nothing was wrong and i didn't even get any paperwork to show i had taken it to them . It is still doing it . Truck has 11k miles. When breaking at low speeds, i get a lot of break squeal.this happens driving forward or in reverse. Also, when driving the truck has a hard time shifting and makes a rattling/pinging noise when it is trying to find the correct gear. This happens sporadically when driving slow, fast, uphill, and mostly occurs during acceleration.the shifting issue happens on the freeway as well as city streets.

Purchased 2015 colorado july 2015.we had it in for oil changes & a few times regarding hesitation of acceleration. Service techs did not type complaint when in for oil change only when brought in specifically for acceleration issue. They stated it was our fault we did not read the work order.it is not my job to read a work order it's the service techs job to enter every complaint or issue addressed by the customer. The last service was when i spoke to sales manager who set me up with service manager & i was assured mea tech would drive vehicle for a week to and from dealership approx 40 miles per day so they could diagnose the issues.i had advised issue is intermittent; the reason they could never duplicate while in for service. They made sure to state it was running to manufacturer specs. They drove it 10 miles not 40 miles a day for the 7 days they had it.then said exactly that it was running to manufacturer specs. Of course it did, you did not do what you promised wasting my time & kept my vehicle for 7 days just to pacify me. I told the sales manager what happened who i purchased the 2015 colorado & my 2014 camaro that i would never buy another chevy product as they would not stand by this issue, their customer or the lemon law. Today my husband is in austin texas with his truck in the shop again as truck now has a service engine light on; of course still has the acceleration issues as that was never addressed or fixed.we have to pay $800.00 to fix engine issues on a 2015 vehicle, this time no warranty even though we thought we were given a 75k warranty when we purchased the vehicle. This is the only thing i can think of doing prior to retaining an attorney to fight for the lemon law for a vehicle we bought for 40k. We have had issues with this vehicle since purchase & i am hoping i will get a call from someone from the nhtsa regarding this complaint!

Colorado has a great deal of hesitation at low speed when acceleration is applied. Vehicle lurches, shrugs, spark knocks, has delayed throttle response....seems to "chug" until a heavy throttle is applied, then the vehicle "jumps" to a gear/rpm. Very dangerous when trying to accelerate normally and "get out of the way" of other traffic or just climb a slight incline. Chevrolet dealership says this is "normal".this may be normal for chevrolet, but it certainly is not acceptable for the consumer that wants a responsive throttle when acceleration is required...... This has been an on-going issue with the truck since it was purchased new in april 2015.

Sluggish engine after slowing down and then trying to increase speed, engine jumps and hesitates for a few seconds then if you stomp on the gas pedal it downshifts and takes off after reving to about 5,000 rpms.this usually happens when slowing down to about 20-30 mph then starting to increase speed.it is truly embarrassing owning this $37,0000 truck.dealership and gm customer service stated that the engine needs to learn how i drive and adapt.really?the engine is remaining in too high of a gear and not downshifting and supplying the engine power that is required in traffic.this problem has existed since i purchased the vehicle 11/1/14, i've ignored the problem hoping it would go away but here i am.

Sometimes the temperature rises without reason.

Hesitates during acceleration.i have reviewed numerous complaints online with similar complaints.when accelerating from a stopped position the engine hesitates around 2000 rpm.it hesitates to a point where it is a safety issue.how many complaints have to be received before nhsta acts?it has been like this since i have owned it.took it to the dealer - initially they said there was a computer patch. Still hesitating.

The auto headlight function changes the instrument panel lights to dim when driving. Example: at 4 o'clock pm your driving east. The sun is setting towards the west so the light sensor on the dash that controls the auto headlight function doesn't see the sun directly thinks it's dark outside and turns the headlights on. When this happens the instrument panel lights go dim because you have set the dim control the previous night to a lower level that is not bright and distracting to your night time driving. When this happens you have to physically take your eyes off the road to adjust the dim control switch so the instrument panel light is bright enough during the daylight hour to see and read the instrument panel. Also it can be 12 noon with overcast sky's outside and the sensor can not tell that it is not dark outside. This is a hazardous and safety concern due to a distraction on a daily basis of having to take your eyes off the road when driving during these hours or conditions. Vehicle can be moving or stopped. Sensor is too sensitive. This happens all the time.

I recently purchased a new/ never titled/ demo 2015 chevrolet colorado with luxury option package. Options included projector-type headlights. Headlights shine a straight horizontal beam of light about 40 inches off the roadway. Light below/ darkness above. The first time i drove at night i found the headlights totally inadequate! this is a safety issue. Returned to the dealer twice for readjustment with no improvement.talked to the service manager which talked to the district manager. I asked for the lights to be replaced with the reflector type headlights which come on the base truck. They said the projector type headlights meet chevrolet specs and no change could be made. The dealer offered to change the headlights for about $1000.00, my money! i called chevrolet corporate and they told me the same answer- the lights meet chevrolet specs and the inquiry is over. I am filing this report as a safety concern. I can not drive this vehicle safely after dark. All highways are not flat. The roadway disappears driving into inclines, driving around corners, and roadside signage is difficult to read. It's a roller coaster ride. Dealer will do nothing on its own. All changes must be made through chevrolet proper. Other owners have complained but few can be found on the internet. Please include this as a complaint against projection-type headlights on this vehicle.chevrolet complaint #8-216-9453040.

My 2015 colorado z71is experiencing moderate to severe hesitation concerns.it's progressively getting worse.i first brought it back to the dealership to have it checked out around1000 miles, 6000 and now 20000.each time they claimed they can't do anything because the diagnostics reveal no trouble codes, although, per aforementioned bulletin, there's proof that a problem exists.i inquired if it could be a mechanical issue, but they refused to because no diagnostics produced no codes/proof.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving 40 mph, the hood began to shake and partially lifted up, but never fully opened. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.updated 02/05/16*ljupdated 03/02/16.

Transmission does not downshift when rpm's fall to 1000 due to slowing traffic, turning, etc.when trying to accelerate normally vehicle lugs and hesitates and will not accelerate.if throttle is significantly increased the transmission downshifts several gears and accelerates rapidly.the higher the load on the vehicle (ie. A/c or going uphill) and the higher the ambient temperature the worse the problem gets.when cruise control in engaged the vehicle will slow down as much as 4 mph before downshifting to maintain set speed.this is a safety hazard due to lack of acceleration when required and also sudden rapid acceleration when vehicle finally does downshift.general motors engineering states that this is due to design to increase fuel mileage and refuses to address the problem.this problem has been present since i purchased the vehicle new in april of 2015.

When driving my 2015 colorado z71 4x4 with the v6, in city traffic, you try to speed up slightly so you depress the throttle and the truck doesn't go any faster, then the truck will downshift two gears, lurch forward at high rpm's nearly striking the vehicle in front of you.the engine also spark knocks when up shifting in all gears.took it to dealership and was told, gm engineers were aware of the problem and working on it, it appears they fixed it with the 2017 colorado as they put a different engine and 8 speed transmission in the new trucks.if there was nothing wrong with the original power plant and transmission why would they change especially since the new engine transmission doesn't get any better mileage.also, when driving at highway speed, 75 mph the truck downshifts on it's own, the rpm's go almost to redline and if someones in back of you, you almost get rear ended.gm says that the transmission is learning, really at 17000 miles its still learning.there is a significant problem with the shift pattern and timing with the engine on this truck.the spark knock and transmission issues have been going on since the truck was new.

Similar to other complaints, the vehicle nearly stalls when taking off from a stop.the transmission is in the wrong gear and the acceleration is very limited unless the gas pedal is pushed down fully.this causes a very dangerous situation particularly when turning left at intersections as the vehicle will nearly stall or move at a very slow pace.

This vehicle was purchased october 31, 2016 as a certified pre owned with 17,900 miles on the odometer. From day one, the transmission (automatic v6) has shifted poorly.it is sluggish on acceleration and requires pushing the pedal to the floor to get it to upshift.and when it finally does, it skips a gear and raises the rpms to over 4,000.when coasting down in incline, the tansmission will arbitrarily downshift itself and will occasionally skip a gear, again causing excessive rpms.neither the dealer nor gm has a remedy for this problem, although the dealer has admitted that there have been several complaints for the same issue from other people who have purchased colorados.it appears to have all the classic signs of a bad design!hopefully, gm will offer a fix to the problem before someone gets seriously hurt or worse!

When driving at low speeds, it feels like the transmission is in the wrong gear, because when you need a fast acceleration, the car bucks and almost feels like it's going to stall. It seems like it is searching for the right gear and therefore it takes time to react. I have been on a few close calls, almost got into an accident a couple of times because of this bucking and delay on reacting when you need to get the power from the engine.

Like many of the other complaints listed for this vehicle. This problem routinely and repeatedly occurs on both street and highway driving. After slowing down and depressing the accelerator, the automatic transmission will stumble and hesitate. Because the vehicle won't readily accelerate, the gas peddle is depressed further and then the automatic transmission will downshift too many gears and excessive acceleration and engine rpm follows. This problem causes excessive acceleration, which could place the vehicle and its occupants into an unsafe traffic situation and potentially cause accident and/or injury. The dealer service writer was asked about this situation and responded that "the transmission was seeking the best gear to maximize gasoline mileage performance", which really doesn't seem to make sense in this situation.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle would not shift correctly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 51,400.

The transmission won't downshift while trying to accelerate after slowing down. The truck will start to very noticeably chug and jerk and not want to go from not downshifting when braking and then trying to accelerate. I have been close to getting rear ended when this happens and to avoid it i have to stomp on the gas pedal which then causes it to jerk erratically from downshifting too far and causing me to accelerate too fast and almost rear ending the vehicle in front of me. This happens every time i slow down to go around someone turning or slowing down to stopped traffic and then accelerating again. While driving with my wife at around the 200 mile mark it started chugging badly and she thought we were breaking down. It is very embarrassing when someone is riding with me because no vehicle should act like this. Gm should be ashamed of themselves. I have about 10,500 miles on my truck right now and this issue has been a serious issue since i drove it off the lot brand new. Took it to the dealer and they said it should take a couple seconds to shift from gear to gear.its funny because i have driven a lot of vehicles and none of them have done that or took that long to shift. I know the transmission is supposed to adapt to your driving...which seems very unnecessary to me but obviously it is not working out for the colorados. Adaptive transmissions need to go and put a firm sporty shifting transmission in these trucks.

Truck transmission does not down shift when slowing down at times or when taking off from a stop light. Returned to dealer twice and second time they did a software updatebut still doing same problem. Dealer say's truck normal. Waiting for an accident because transmission will not shift correctly also not shifting correctly at times when passing other vehicles.

Transmission not shifting correctly, hunts for gears and wont downshift under acceleration

When slowing down and then accelerating afterward while in traffic the vehicle does not down shift to the correct gear.the vehicle will then sputter and will be very sluggish to accelerate. This happens whilein motion as well as from a complete stop. I was nearly rear ended while making a right turn into traffic and the truck would not find the correct gear and thus would not accelerate enough to get out of the way from oncoming traffic.several times i thought that the truck was going to kill because it was sputtering so much when in the incorrect gear. Truck also wobbles more than usual when turning and makes a popping sound in a turn. Also, radio acts like it has a mind of its own. Navigation will go haywire as if someone is touching the screen, but no one is touching it. Radio will change channels on its own and volume will increase and decrease without any driver input.

Key has been sticking in ignition, unable to remove.ive kept the key in the ignition and the battery has needed jumped. Dealer tells me this is a very common problem on chevy colorados from 2015 and 2016 as i have now discovered on multiple chevy forums.

The transmission is slipping between 3rd and 4th gear.takes a few seconds to actually get into gear.when brought back to the dealership they were able to replica the problem.when it was brought up to be repaired with gm they reported the issue as normal and to make sure the transmission fluid is warmed up prior to drive.although it still slipping on a truck under 40k miles.they are refusing to fix the issue as saying it is a normal issue in this and many other motors.i never had a vehicle slip out of gear and take 2 to 3 seconds revving up and then popping into gear.this issue needs to be looked at as it can cause problems and dangerous driving conditions for someone driving on the highway ro freeway.

When stopped or maintaining a low speed (e.g. In traffic) when the accelerator is slightly pressed the truck will hesitate and have a slight jerking motion. Will need to almost full press the accelerator to get the truck moving. Brought the truck to the dealer on 3 separate occasions just for them to say that there is nothing wrong and that hesitation & jerking is 'normal'. The 'normal' diagnosis drove me to do some research on this issue and come to find out that other people with the same make, model, year are having the same issues. I have noticed this issue since i had purchased the vehicle back in august 2015.

Similar to other complaints, the vehicle nearly stalls when taking off from a stop. The transmission is in the wrong gear and the acceleration is very limited unless the gas pedal is pushed down fully. This causes a very dangerous situation particularly when turning left at intersections as the vehicle will nearly stall or move at a very slow pace. This has been happening since day 1.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. After parking the vehicle, the key would not rotate completely to shut the vehicle off nor could the key be removed from the ignition switch. The driver had to jiggle or reposition the shift lever in order to remove the key from the ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (h & h chevrolet, 730 e. King st., shippensburg, pa) where it was diagnosed that the transmission control lever knob was not fully seated during manufacturing of the vehicle and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 15,000.

My 2015 chevrolet colorado z71 4x4 has a serious, violent vibration at highway speed.the dealership has had the vehicle for going on 40 days.the truck had approximately 24-25000 miles on it and while on vacation in texas while driving the truck on interstate 10 where the speed limit is 80 mph the truck began shaking and vibrating violently.the truck has been at the dealership since september 08, they have replaced the upper right control arm, road force balanced the tires twp times, alignmenttwo times, replaced the tires, replaced the tires and wheels with some from a 2017 colorado, rebuilt the rear differential, now the rear differential has been replaced with a new factory differential, and the truck still has a serious, violent vibration that makes the entire truck shake.it feels like the truck is going to come apart. Upon speaking with gm in detroit, they tell me they have elevated my concern to their engineering department, whereas the dealership has told me they have been working with gm engineers to fix the truck.the mechanics who have been working on it are concerned with the vibration as well.gm cannot tell me when or if they can fix this truck or, what is truly wrong with it.i truly believe it is a serious safety issue that the builders of the truck cannot fix it.maybe a recall is necessary to figure out why this gm truck shakes and vibrates so badly.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while backing up, the vehicle accelerated backward and crashed into a parked vehicle without warning. The vehicle immediately lured forward by itself, hit the curb and crashed into another vehicle, which in turn crashed into other vehicles that were parked on the same road. The police was alerted by onlookers, who thought the contact was drunk. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injury that required a medical attention. The vehicle was damaged, not totaled and was towed to a collision center. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken care of by the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.consumer states that he thought the transmission had failed. He states that he tried to take vehicle out of gear and to turn off power during and after the accident but he was unable. Power was disabled by the person that transported vehicle to repair center. *dl

While stopped and trying to turn left on a busy highway i was hit from behind by a driver who did not see me until it was to late. I saw him in my rear view mirror, however, barreling down at me at a high rate of speed. I hit the gas to the floor trying to get away from him but my 2015 v6 colorado hesitated for a 1/2 second or 1 second, i don't know. It seemed like forever. It then kicked in and we got about 100' before he slammed into the right rear bumper. The impact drove the colorado forward about 10' and killed the engine. My wife and i both hit the back of our seats and bounced forward and the seat belts caught us. Just prior to the hit, i was leaning forward and thus bounced hard against the seat and then bounced hard against the seat belts; seemingly in a very small fraction of a second. It been a year now and i still have whiplash symptoms. My wife was already leaning back against her seat and apparently did not suffer any whiplash. The car that hit me was totaled but the 80 year old occupant was just shaken up. He left about 30' of skid marks and was trying to get around me to the right. If the colorado had not hesitated, i am confident he would missed me.the hit was so hard because he hit the the colorado's tow bar which did not bend much thus transmitting most of the force to the rest of the vehicle.for a fraction of a second, acceleration was intense.i complained to the local gm dealer but they told me the hesitation was designed into the vehicle and they would not "fix" it.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving 20 mph and downshifting in manual mode, the vehicle lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The contact also stated that the access door sensors failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 90.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving uphill, the vehicle began to jerk forward independently without warning. During the failure, the transmission jumped in and out of gear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The dealer stated that the vehicle could not be repaired because no failure codes were generated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Chevrolet assigned an investigator to diagnose the vehicle, but the failure could be duplicated. The contact mentioned that the recurrence of the failure caused her extreme neck pain. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000. ....updated 06/23/ 17 *as

Purchased truck in november 2014.crew cab z71.had problems right at 200 miles.they said the transmission has to learn my style of driving.at 2,00 miles transmission and engine still don't talk to each other.i can accelerate and 5 seconds or more later the transmission reacts.in heavy traffic, a couple of cars get between me and the car i was following before it reacts and i have to slam the break.always seems to be in the wrong gear.will chug a lot until it gets up to the speed for that gear.took it to dealer at oil change and they reset the control module.after 2,000 more miles, took it back because it still acted the same way.took tech on drive and was able to duplicate all my concerns.he said that there was nothing he can do and that i needed to wait for ecm calibration from gm.he said he felt bad for me.surely i will get in an accident because of this slow transmission that is always in the wrong gear.currently i am at 7,000 miles.the only thing the tech could say was not to drive it in stop and go traffic....seriously.clearly this adaptive transmission is bull crap and gm probably knows they have a piece of crap programming but can't figure it out.please figure out this shifting problem, because other than this the truck is nice...too bad, because if they don't someone will get in an accident and hopefully it will not be fatal.get rear ended because it doesn't accelerate when you need it to, or it finally moves when you are needing to break.fix this now or at some point you will pay big....

Hesitation when acelarating bad almost got in wreck took to chevy dealer they know about it would not do anything about it only has 9050 miles on it.in motion.

When starting up a hill, at a slow speed, the transmission, will hesitate, almost stop, until the gas pedal is pushed down to get the vehicle moving. This is an ongoing problem, i have been told by dealer, that the transmission is adapting to my driving style, and will soon improve.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated before accelerating.

Brakes are not working properly and service brake assist message

Dealing informed us that there was oil contamination in the brake booster.this was reported to gm 1-800-222-1020.in 5 months time we have had this vehicle in for service on the same item.it wasn't until this last time that ron tonkin in portland, oregon called gm and found that bulletin 11-00-89-005 directly discusses the matter.because this deals with the brakes on the vehicle, this concerns the safety of the individuals.

I have had issues with my brakes since the truck was purchased brand new. I have had it to several dealerships and still keep getting a service brake assist message. After paying for several unnecessary parts which is documented i still have the same problem i have also had a slower speed rear end collision i had both feet on the brake pushing as hard as i could and still coasted into the other vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 3 mph, the vehicle did not respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to ed morse sawgrass chevrolet (14401 w sunrise blvd, sunrise, fl 33323, (754) 220-2879) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

Loss of brakes while on slow speed. Brakes become very hard to depress to floor, very dangerous. This happen in 2017 and nov 2018 as well. Vehicle was in motion. First time happen while driving in the freeway, second time in parking lot.

Alert comes on and power steering fails. Very dangerous. This happened at 70mph in rush our traffic. Stearing is then unresponsive - no power assist. Onstar system describes it as "an issue with the stabilitrak stability control system in your 2015 chevrolet colorado crew cab has been detected." alert goes away after turning the car on off. But you cannot do this on a highway at 70mph. Fault comes again at random times/speeds etc.

When driving around 5 to 8 mph while approaching a turn. Vehicle ran into vehicle in front of me.pedal went to the floor and when trying to move the vehicle to the side of the road noticed the brake pedal was locked to the floor. Gm engineer diagnosed as power brake booster and bracket. Repairing vehicle at their cost including body damage.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. After braking forcefully to avoid a crash, the vehicle made an abnormal noise. The failure occurred without warning. Power steering went out with in a parking lot while driving.the following error on the instrument cluster "power steering fault service power steering, drive safely" luckily i was able to pull over immediately, just barely, into a large parking section.i checked the fuses

On april 2, 2015, my daughter was pulling out a shopping center in plainfield il when the power steering system failed as she trying to make a right turn, the ip display showed a message to drive with care and that there was a problem with the powersteering.i stopped at an auto parts store to purchasesome fluidand when restarted the engine, the steering returned to normal. The following morning, i took in to the webb chevrolet in plainfield where they said the power steering rack was defective and the part would not arrive until april 6th or 7th. My daughter panicked when this happened and she could have easily ran into another vehicle in the opposite lane of traffic. Three days before i came to illinoisto visit my daughter i picked it upfrom my local coloradoforsevere engine oil leak repair.

Going about 20-30 miles an hour. I recieved a warning message to check my power steering. I had lost all power steering, but i was able to pull off the side of the road, turn my truck off and back on and everything was good.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 70 mph, the "service power steering, drive carefully" message appeared in the message center and the vehicle lost total steering ability. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road to a complete stop and shut off the vehicle. After waiting approximately five minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact continued driving home, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 53,300.

Beware chevy colorado owners. Chevy issued a safety recall back in 2015 for power steering issues. I never received a notice probably because i was deployed with the military. My power steering went out so i took it to the chevy dealership to fix under recall. The advisor told me that chevy now puts a time frame (expiration) on all recalls, even safety ones, and that mine had expired. How can chevy legally do this? they acknowledge a problem that they caused but now wont fix it??

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 65-70 mph, the contact heard an audible sound and the power steering and stabilitrac warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle lost power steering ability and was taken to hoffman chevrolet (now renamed fitzgerald chevrolet cadillac of hagerstown, located at 101 s edgewood dr, hagerstown, md 21740, (240) 329-2004) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The contact was informed that there was a software update that may be able to correct the failure. The software update was performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

While driving i received a service power steering message followed immediately by a service stabilitrak message and lost the ability to steer the vehicle. This hapenned 4 times at varying speeds, including while entering the highway and at low speeds driving down the road at approximately25 mph. After shutting off and restarting the vehicle, the problem clears and the power steering functions. I took it to my local chevy dealer and was told it's an electrical short in some sensor in the steering column and it would cost me $1,800 to repair. The vehicle has only 44,500 miles on it and i purchased it new. It is no li ger under warranty.

While driving in the city and highway the power steering service light and the stability track light turned on couldn't steer very difficult no power to power steering

The steering cuts off randomly and makes it difficult to steer, very dangerous when it stops working at slower speeds, i've done research and a lot of these trucks are having the same problem

While driving on highway power steering goes out causing loss of control of vehicle. Cannot turn vehicle.

Intermittent loss of power steering. Very dangerous. Issue seems to fix itself once car is shut off and restarted. The recall needs to be expanded to include all 2015 made trucks.

I was driving my 2015 chevy colorado westbound on ca highway 92at approximately 10 am on feb 15 past the on/off ramps to/from el camino real when there an alarm on my dash console and i experienced sudden loss of power to the power streering. The steering became very sluggish and difficult to steer. Fortunately i was able to maintain control and drive the truck slowly to my local dealer service. The problem with the steering was confirmed and the repair bill was for a little over $2500. While the location and traffic conditions where this happened were such that i was able to avoid an accident, i know of few roads where this sudden loss of power steering would have resulted in an accident with another car or collision on roadway.

Multiple times over the last several months, i have lost all power steering in my vehicle. The stabilitrack is now also being affected. I understand there is an active investigation into gms recall of this vehicle for this specific reason. I wanted to make sure that my vehicle is added into your complaint count for your investigation. I lose steering at any and all speeds, both while driving straight and turning. I am very concerned that i am going to injured if this continues to happen. I cannot and will not pay for this out of my own pocket. What can i do?

I was driving around 45 miles per hour over a bridge when my power steering and traction went completely out. I was lucky to get off the road to a parking lot..the light for the power steering and traction light were on. I turned off my truck waited a few minutes. Turned it back on and the lights for the power steering warning were not on anymore. While stationary i moved my wheel back-and-forth with ease and could reverse also.. I did not trust my truck after that random loss of power steering.i had it towed to chevy dealership rick hendrick's on savannah highway. My life was in danger.

While driving on a turn around 30mph, the power steering went out and the warning service power steering came on. I ended up in the oncoming lane but luckily no one was coming.i was able to drive the truck for a few more miles before reaching my destination.about 90 minutes later i restarted the truck and had full steering again.i had the truck serviced for this same issue on 12/18.

Powersteering failed at 50 mph in right turn, steering wheel jerked out of my hand in a right turn. The truck went hard left towards opposing traffic. Steered with difficulty back in my lane. This is the 5th time the steering has failed. Stop the truck and turn off the engine will normally reset the steering.

Power steering fails randomly at times. Iā€™ve read there was a recall for this issue but my vehicle wasnā€™t covered for some reason ?

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v213000 (steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a complaint was filed. The contact experienced a failure and the vehicle stalled. Vin tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was unknown.

On 1/14/20 i was driving on the highway when out of nowhere my power steering locked up and "service power steering" appeared on the dashboard. Luckily i was in the right-hand lane when this happened because my wheel was so locked up i was unable to switch lanes safely. When i got off the highway and was able to pull over safely i turned my truck off and restarted it. At this time everything went back to normal, though i called premier chevy in buena park and was told to bring the truck in immediately. The following morning i brought the truck into premier chevy in buena park and was told that it was most likely a faulty battery. He stated that the other possibility was the steering gearbox but he had no way of knowing which was the issue so he suggested we get both replaced. I decided to wait on those repairs because the cost exceeded $2k and i do not have those kinds of funds. On 1/18/20 my wife was driving on the highway from fullerton ca to san dimas ca. She was in the left lane when the power steering went out again when the same dashboard warning appeared. She had to pull over to the left shoulder on the highway to attempt to restart the truck because she had very limited mobility. On her drive, she had to pull over and attempt to restart the truck on the left shoulder 3 times. 1/20/20 we went to her family's mechanic to get their diagnosis for fear gm was giving us the incorrect information. He stated that there was a faulty part #84498587. After doing research we found that this same part was recalled on 1k 2015 chevy colorado trucks. That same day we went to glendora chevrolet where they said our truck wasn't under warranty and was not included in the recall. Our truck should have been included in that recall and because it wasn't and we were sent away from chevy in buena park my wife almost got into an accident on the highway multiple times. Please help us!

Power steering shuts off without warning have to pull over shut off truck restart it happened three times ,very dangerous safety hazard taking it to the dealer sherry doesn't know if it's covered under warranty

Power steering failed while driving on july 2, 2020. I was driving in traffic on city streets at the time. It was very challenging to pull into a parking lot to get to a safe place. I turned off the truck, waiting 2-3 minutes, restarted, and the problem was gone. I took it to a auto mechanic to get the codes read, the document is attached.

Why is it ok?will somebody please help us? please

Driving in traffic when vehicle lost power steering, dic said to sevice power steering system.pulled off the road shut vehicle off checked fluid and belts restarted vehicles message cleared steering was fine this problem reoccuredtwo more times.

Known issue with this vehicle that power steering assist will fail at times causing difficult hard steering, safety issue when driving. Gm has several recalls and customer satisfaction fixes for this but would only cover half the cost to repair my vehicle. Mine was stationary all 3 times this happened but there are several reports of this occurring while the vehicle is in motion. I feel that gm should have repaired this known problem at no expense to me. I have several pages of owners stating the same problem. This is a safety issue as it can happen at any time.

Driving on highway and truck alarmed and lost power steering, again.

Power steering shuts off unexpectedly. Have taken it to multiple dealerships to be told a "recall" was done on it already and nothing can be done but to pay out of pocket to replace entire rack and pinion a $2,000 job. The power steering is electronic and will signal the computer then shut off and warn to drive carefully when it then reverts to manual steering. During a turn it shut off and i nearly hit another vehicle in oncoming traffic due to the fact the wheel would not turn. It can shut off going down the highway , stationary, or as described above while turning.

While driving on freeway, power steering is lost.after stopping vehicle and restarting engine, power steering is restored, only to be lost againafter driving for a few hours.this issue had a gm recall #15595, andnhtsa recall #16v-054.this is a random and intermittent issue that first occurred maybe a year or so ago and is now reoccurring with more frequency.

Trucks steering assist device light comes on at every start up and steering goes out completely almost ever time i drive it now

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 mph the vehicle started vibrate abnormally without warning. The contact was unable to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted about the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 40,520.

While driving power steering is disabled, when i stop the vehicle and restart the power steering functions again. This has happened while on a highway.

When in motion the trucks power steering stops working at random speeds making the vehicle difficult to steer. Took the vehicle to a gm dealer for diagnostic and repair. The technician explained that the code dtc-c0545 steering wheel torque sensor is faulty. Cost of repair $2100.00 i asked for the faulty parts and was informed i would need to pay for them as the dealer is required to send them back to gm because they are faulty. The vehicle has about 52,000 miles on it. This power steering failure would make it difficult to manage the vehicle at lower speeds therefore making the vehicle unsafe. The dealer/technician very strongly recommended the repair because the vehicle is unsafe to drive without this repair.

Has occurred twice.vehicle has a sudden loss of power steering which causes extreme difficulty in steering (70 years old). Dealer indicated that gm is aware of the issue, but they have no corrections.the steering may come back after the vehicle is parked. Several days after the first incident, it went out again while i was making a turn.extremely dangerous.both issues occurred while thevehicle was in motion.

The steeringwheel went off . And hard to turn . Almost crashed

I had a power steering malfunction on three occasions on february 13,16,and 17. All three times it was -10 below zero or more and lost my power steering. My truck is parked in a garage at night ,this happened all three times after being outside for several hours in extremey cold weather.the driver info center displayed (service power steering-- drive with care). After i had driven about 5 miles and shut the truck of and restarted it the power steering worked. At this time it is working ok. I have a second appointment on march 2nd with my dealer to try and fix this issue.

While driving on astraight roadway at 55 mph the power steering stoped working and a trouble signal tells me to be careful, that my power steering has stopped working.

This happened while driving on the city street at a speed limit of 25mph or 55mph and while turning on a street. The steering wheel gets really hard, unable to maneuver. Steering wheel stop working. The power steering warning indicator light up. Message :( service power steering -drive with care ) we were able to coast to the side of the road and power off engine then restart. The manufacture has been notified three times, last year and this year. Per gm there's nothing it can be done to fix the problem because it doesn't show any code. We took the vehicle to penske chevrolet multiple times and we always get the same answer, there's nothing wrong, they check and no diagnostic code show on the computer. They only did an upgrade, but that didn't solve the problem.

Power steering has gone out on 4 separate occasions on the busy streets of phoenix, az.this is a safety issue as once that happens, it is difficult to make a safe turn.took the car in and noticed that there is a recall on the power steering for the 2015 chevy colorado, but apparently this car is not included.this does not seem to make sense as this is the same problem others are having and 60k+ trucks have been recalled for the same problem.please research this.

The contact's son owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 35 mph, the steering warning message appeared on the instrument panel as the steering wheel locked-up abruptly. The contact's son was able to pull the vehicle over, restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective part inside the steering column. The mechanic then informed the contact of nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000 (steering). Watsonville buick gmc (500 auto center dr, watsonville, ca 95076) was then contacted about the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and an agent informed the contact that she would speak to a supervisor about the issue. The contact was yet to hear back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. *dt

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering assist failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that it was difficult to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to dale earnhardt, jr chevrolet (3127 w tennessee st, tallahassee, fl 32304, (850) 270-1463) where it was diagnosed that the steering assembly needed to be replaced. The contact was informed of manufacturer communication number: 18027 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

On 6/26/17, i took my truck to paradise chevrolet in temecula, ca because a few days before my powersteering failed while i was driving. My truck was under warranty because it had only 19,968 miles. They said nothing was wrong with the truck so they just recalibrated it. On 3/24/18, the power steering failed again, once on a city street and once on the freeway while driving to paradise chevrolet. Today i received a call saying something was wrong with the steering wheel & it will cost me $1250 to fix the problem. My truck has alittle under 30,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss power steering with the power steering assist failure and the stability track warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to piles chevrolet & buick, inc., dealer located at 30 ferguson blvd, dry ridge, ky 41035, where it was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to be replaced and programmed. Additionally, the vehicle needed to be aligned. The technician stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Power steering cuts out while driving, often multiple times per trip.. Dealership says the truck needs a new steering rack.

My vehicle has the exact same problems as in your recall 16v054000 and chevys recall 15595, but my vehicle was not included in the recall. I have been to a dealer and had this diagnosed. Will cost over $600.00 to fix. Sometimes upon start up and sometimes when driving down the road a message come up on message center with reference to power steering needing attention and at that time you have no power steering. Obviously the scope of the recall was not large enough and did not cover all cars having the problem. What does a person do when they fall into this category. I refuse to believe they are just sol. This happens several times a week. Sometimes turning vehicle off and restarting straightens it out, sometimes not.

Vehicle has less than 30k miles and is 28 months old.while driving, loss of power steering has occurred twice and the display states service power steering - drive with care.the first time was at an intersection waiting for a green light.the second time it happened was at 45 mph in light city traffic.vehicle vin not included in recall #16v054000 or gm recall #15595.vehicle has been at local chevrolet dealer for over a week and repair parts can not be located.seems that this is a recurring problem of many colorado not affected by the above mentionedrecall.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v213000 (steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the part was not yet available. The contact experienced a power steering failure which made it difficult to steer the vehicle. The failure mileage was 45,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Driving down road, steering went hard with alarms ,about 35mph.stopped and restarted, was normal steering. Happened 3 more times in next couple of days, took to dealer, they read codes and saw alarms. They cleaned steering sensor assy, and seemed fine, 2 days later happened again, 3 times in 10 minutes. One was while parked, next while pulling out of parking spot, and third was on a curve , was in left turn lane of two left turn lanes. Could not stay in left lane and almost hit the car in the other left turn lane, pulled over and restarted truck, drove home with no problems. Have not driven vehicle since. Door plaque shows build date as 11/2014 and is prior to 15595 recall and truck has 29000 miles. Dealer says cost to fix is 2300 dollars.

While driving down the road, the traction control light came on and i lost power steering control.it has happened three separate times while driving between thirty and forty-five mph.

On 4 separate occasions in the past month i have lost power steering.no codes are issued only lights on the dash stating "service power steering" and " service sabilitrack".the first 2 incidents occurred on a straight stretch of highway at 45 mph, 1 incident occurred in a parking lot at 15 mph.these 3 were manageable but the 4th occurred in a curve at 45 mph.this one took all i had to keep the vehicle from going off the road and down an embankment.in all incidents the vehicle was stopped, turned of and restarted shortly after the lose and the problem was gone.vehicle is scheduled into a local chevy dealer to see what they say is wrong.

The power steering continues to randomly go out. There has already been a recall on this issue but the dealership (carl black, kennesaw ga) says that it was closed in 2016 and refuses to fix it for free. I filed a complaint with you several months ago because of this and recently received a notice from you that it may have been recalled again. However, the dealership continues to refuse to fix it for free.the consumer referenced recall 21v213. The consumer stated the power steering continues to go out while driving.

On 3 separate occasions in the past week my service power steering and stability track warning lights have come on while driving and my car experienced a total loss of power steering. On the first occasion i was on a straight section of highway approaching a curve. As i entered the curve the power steering failed nearly causing me to drive straight through the curve. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and the alerts cleared immediately. On the second occasion a week later, i was pulling out of my driveway at a low rate of speed and the same lights illuminated and power steering was lost. I again shut the car off however the failures stayed present and remained present until the following day. I drove to work with no power steering with the intention of taking it to the chevy dealership closest to my office. While at work i researched my viin and noticed gm issued a recall for this problem on march 25th, 3 days after my first failure and 3 days prior to the second. I contacted the dealership and they stated no remedy was available on the recall and i needed to contact gm to obtain approval to have the work done at the dealership under recall work. I contacted gm and was told although there's an active recall for my viin, i would have to take my vehicle to the dealership and pay for the repairs. If gm is aware of a safety issue and issued a recall, why should i the consumer pay for the repairs? i was told a manger would contact me for further resolution and have yet to be contacted. Yesterday, one day after speaking to gm i have experienced the total loss of power steering for the 3rd time and it has yet to clear itself and i'm expecting the intermittent problem is now a permanent one. I have 2 young children and it's unsafe for me and my family to be in this vehicle. Gm has acknowledged that with a recall, yet fails to act on it.

Steering or power assist system stops working making it hard or imposible to steer. This happens at any time, with vehicle stopped or in motion.my vehicle was manufactured 12/14 so it is not included in recall # 16v054000, but nonetheless the malfunction is the same.

To date, power steering control has failed on 3 seperate occasions. My safety and the safety of others is at risk when this occurs. The first incident of power steering loss was in conjested los angeles freeway speeds. The second and third incidents occurred at lower speeds and in conjested city driving which made the steering even more difficult and unsafe. My wife drives this vehicle often and power steering loss will put her safety and that of others at risk because of the difficulty of controlling the steering wheel. I am aware of the recall for this problem, however because of the unavailbility of the part(s) needed for a timely repair, my vehicle will be too risky to operate daily.the dates for the incidents are june 11th, june 20th, and june 25th. Speed for the 1st incident was 70 mph, the 2nd and 3rd incidents speed was approximately 45-50 mph.

Power steering goes out very had to steer, a man can still steer my wife can not. Steering started going out at about 35000 miles. Truck was in motion. Shut off motor and restart steering works . I had gm fix it cost 1900$ gm paid 1000$ if they new it's bad they should recall or pay all of cost

While under pre owned warranty trucks power steering would not work whenvehicle was first started. Only activating after restarting vehicle multiple times. Took it in to john l sullivan in roseville they said they could not diagnose the problem and it had nothing to do with a recall. By this time it had happened twice.i continued to drive vehicle until the power steering went out on i 80 in heavy traffic on my way to work at the dmv. My first week of employment with the state. Luckily it wasnt during a turn because it was a struggle just to get it off to the shoulder. The truck was taken to dealership the same day where they were able to diagnose the problem. Perhaps the bumper to bumper warranty is what made them unable to originally diagnose the problem. Because the truck was now under 2k over warrenty limit of 36k. In the endthey replaced rack and pinionfortotal of 1700 dollars. After all the poor customer service and faulty claims they made before this issue i wouldnt put it past them to have seen the problem the first time. Especially because when speaking to a service rep over the phone he mention that within a year of me buying the vehicle they had updated or corrected something to do with the steering. Something the rep at the first encounter of bringing the truck in failed to mention

This has happened twice in the last month!!! i am going down the road power steering needs service light comes on then power steering stops working and wheel locks up! i stop the truck, turn it off and turn it back on and it works just fine as if nothing has happened

The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.

Power steering failing intermittently.very dangerous because when this happens vehicle very hard to steer.

Experienced sudden loss of eps(power steering) after @ 30 minutes of driving: symptoms:sudden loss of power steeringalert message: service power steering drive with carestabilitrack and traction control dash lights onbackup camera ok but no guide linesmessage on screen: vehicle guiding lines unavailablecode scanner/reader shows no codes.after engine re-start: service stabilitrack message appears for a brief period, again, no codes.power steering will be fine again for a while.problem repeated after another 30 minute driving. Again, restart cleared the problem.several recalls for similar problem with gm vehicles: nhtsa campaign's: 14v719000, 14v395000 & 14v153000. Nothing for colorado.

I have had a few instances where the power steering gave out while driving, i called the dealership and they said that the problem was fixed prior to selling me the vehicle and that it was not their issue. I feel at a loss, i think that if the issue with the recall is fixed, then the problem would not persist.

Power steering assistance. No power steering at all.this quote came across the digital speedometer "service power steering, drive with care.while we was stop a couple of different times and also when we was driving.

While driving, occasional error message will appear on dic alerting that power steering has gone out. Vehicle is very hard to steer manually. This issue has occurred at low speeds driving through neighborhoods and on the highway. Gm issued a recall for only select 2015 chevy colorados and the dealership says my vin is not part of that recall.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While operating the vehicle, the power steering intermittently malfunctioned and caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. On april 22,2019 my son was driving the vehicle and hit a deer due to the fact the power steering had failed. He could not steer it quick enough to avoid impact with the deer. So the truck has left front bumper damage and suspension damage but it was still drivable. The failure wasdiagnosed and repaired. To fix steering they replaced the complete power steering module with gear for $1,944.04. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The local dealer (denecker chevrolet, 510 us-7, middlebury, vt) was notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 65,000.

I was travelling at 45 mph and power steering fails. Truck is very difficult to steer. I stopped vehicle and restarted, power steering now functional. I took in to dealer who told me there was an electrical short and that i would need to purchase new part at cost of $1700.00. Hard to accept this cost on a 2 1/2 year old truck. Truck has 49000 miles, so not covered in bumper to bumper warranty.

This happened on 2-11-20.again on 2-13-20 raining again same lights came on but this time they didn't go out.shut the truck off turn back on no power steering. Of the bill. I called gm to cover the whole cost but told me i was out of the time frame. I have 95000 miles on it . It looks like to me that it is a recurring problem that will continue to happen.today is 2-14-20 no rain drove truck 6 times so far no dash lights on and have power steering called the dealer back today and was told it must be the moduler that is sealed in the rack and pinion system

As i was driving, i slowed to make a left- turn onto a city street when there was a sudden loss of power steering. It was very difficult to steer but i made it to the side of the road. The vehicle did not lose power or shut off.the message said there was a loss in power steering and to seek service.i turned off the vehicle. Upon restarting, the vehicle drove normal. I drove about 20 miles. I was on a major highway in heavier traffic, on a straighaway but again was slowing down when there was another sudden loss of power steering. I struggled to make it into a parking lot. The issue did not immediately reset as before. I sat for about 20 minutes and tried it 3 or 4 times but it continued to give the message that the there was a loss in power steering. It finally "reset" . I drove it to a nearby family members house until i could get it to the chevrolet dealer monday morning. I saw online where there is a recall 2015 chevy colorado for power steering issue. Unfortunately, the dealership informed me that my 2015 chevy colorado was not under recall because it was not within in the recall manufactured dates between jan and march. They insisted i would have to pay $139.00 in order to get my vehicle diagnosed. I did not have the funds to get the vehicle assessed but am convinced the nhtsa needs to consider expanding the recall for this issue. It is a safety hazard. Additionally, i contacted gm for redress. Again, they insisted i would be required to pay $139.00 diagnosis fee before they could assess this identical safety recall issue.

Started experiencing loss of power steering. This is happening while driving and at start up. Sometimes the issue will resolve upon a restart. Have experienced this problem in at least 3 seperate occasions.

While driving and in a slight turn at 25mph, the power steering immediately stopped working. I was immediately thrown off the road into a dirt embankment and had to force the steering wheel to get back onto the road. I was able to drive the truck to a nearby parking lot. I turned it off. 2 hours later, i turned it back on and the power steering worked. I didnā€™t want to risk driving it 35 miles back home and risking an accident from another loss of power steering. I towed the truck to the nearest chevrolet dealership and had to inspected. The truck is at 61,128 miles. The extended warranty for 100,000 miles or 5 years does not apparently cover the power steering and the power steering needs to be completely replaced.

While driving at a high rate of speed (approximately 55 mph) on a two lane county road, the powersteering failed on two separate occasions. When this occurred at both times, the steering became extremely difficult, a message appeared on the instrument panel that stated that the power steering had failed and to drive cautiously. The first time, not knowing what was happening, i braked to a stop, turned the engine off and then started the engine. The message reappeared briefly, the disappeared. With the second event, i was able to pull into an unoccupied parking lot, which was very difficult due to the steering. At that time, i again turned the engine off and then restarted the engine. The message again had appeared as it had at the first occurrence. It was fortunate with the first occurrence that no one following behind me and with the second occurrence i had to pull hard on the steering wheel to keep from going into the opposing lane. The first time occurred on september 3rd 2019 and the second was on september 10th 2019. The first time, i had called the dealership and was told that unless the truck currently had failing power steering, that most likely nothing would be found wrong and would waste my money. After the second time, i made an appointment with the dealership to have them check it out and mentioned to them that there had been a recall on some 2015 chevy colorado's dealing with power steering problems. The appointment is on 9-17-19.

While driving on the highway, the power steering stopped working. When we stopped, turned off the truck and turned it back on it worked again for about 5 more miles before again it stopped working. So far our vin is not included in the recall, but it sounds like the same experience other chevy colorado drivers have described.

While driving home on my birthday at highway speeds the power steering noticeably failed. A message on the dashboard read "loss of electrical steering assist".i was close to home and near my exit, and was able to steer the vehicle home without power steering.at higher speeds it was barely tolerable, as i was not switching lanes; but in an emergency i would not have been able to. At slower speeds making turns was extremely difficult, and i am a man with strong arms. Had this occurred on a busy highway or congested road, the outcome could have been much worse for me and others around me.this is an extremely dangerous fault that has been recorded in similar gm trucks and recalls should be mandated for what may well be a very expensive fix if out of warranty. Estimated at over $2000.

Total loss of power steering assist with "service power steering" message on screen while driving at highway speeds.also loss of antiskid and stabilirak.very dangerous condition!can't image what might have happened if this failed in a turn. The vehicle is not drivable in this condition.

While driving the trac control and power steering lights came on the dash immediately followed by a loss of power steering.the vehicle was extremely difficult to turn creating a very serious safety situation.it was pulled over to the side of the road and restarted.the power steering came back on.chevy service says the gear steering box needs replaced at a cost of almost $2000.there is a recall for this same issue but my vehicle is not included because it was built 2 months before the recall date, several others are reporting the same issue on these new trucks coming off the assembly line just prior to the recall date of january 6, 2015.i'm not sure what gm changed that the first few thousand trucks produced in late 2014 are not part of the recall.same issue, very serious safety issue, new truck, and the customer is expected to pay the $2000 to fix it.i wish gm would consider extending the recall to the original 2015 colorado's that first came off the assembly line.it is obviously a problem!

The power steering maintenance and traction control comes on while driving and locks up the steering.i had to pull over immediately because i wss driving on a city street, turning into the residential area where i live. The steering was hard.i tutned off the vehicle restarted and the wsrning messaged were gone and i regained the power steering. This had happened twice while driving.

Purchased the vehicle on december 2019 and started having issues on may 2020 with the power steer - while i was driving i couldn?t more or steer the wheel while the truck was in motion, i had to turn it off on the middle of the road to turn it off and on till it started to work again, this has happened 3 times already. So i checked for any recalls on this truck and yes it was already serviced for the same problem on 2016. So if it is having the same problem with the power steer, is there any way it can be associated with the initialed problem!!

Power steering fails at random times at any speed creating extremely dangerous driving situations in a relatively large truck. It is difficult for me (a 180 pound man) to control the vehicle without the steering assist and nearly i had a serious accident as a result. There was a partial gm recall on 2015 chevrolet colorados for exactly this reason (recall # 15595a) however, the dealer said this 'did not apply to my vin' and expects me to pay 1,700 dollars to replace a flawed system with the same flawed system. The problem i experience is identical to the issue described in the recall; on top of this, my vehicle only has around 43,000 miles. Loss of power steering given my vehicles low mileage, good maintainence record and that i have never placed any significant mechanical strain or been in an accident clearly indicates to me, particularly given the strikingly applicable recall i mentioned, that this is a manufacturing error. I have found literally dozens upon dozens of similar complaints on forums, including one accident that resulted from this. I frankly am very frustrated with gm and feel that if their shoddy design is putting my and others lives in harms way, at least they should pay to replace the system with the same crummy system.

The power steer in failed as i was driving about 25mph. I drove the car to the dealership. The power steering briefly worked each time the ignition was activated, then would fail minutes later. Have been without the vehicle since that day with conflicting explanations . Either the dealer received a bad replacement part or the entire steering column requires replacing. This is a very dangerous defect which should be investigated

My power steering was compromised, almost locking up when an inticator light stated there was a problem with the power steering and to drive with caution.luckily, i wasn't going very fast.if this would have happened on the freeway, it could have been an accident.i often drive my family, including my young granddaughter around.chevy will not honor the recall, which is out there for some trucks, just not mine.i feel they should fix this, no matter how many miles are on the truck.mine had 46k when it happened.it is going to cost $1800 to fix their problem!!!

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally; however, the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic where diagnostic trouble codes: c0545 (steering wheel torque sensor malfunction) and u0420 (power steering control module) appeared. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 9-5192152046. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

My power steering will quit for no reason such as hard turns or rapid turning. The dash gives you a warning that this has occured. Shutting the ignition off resets it .when you turn the key to start the power returns to the steering.i have had it recalibrated but still have this happening. Dealer says it is out of warranty. Claims it is about 2000 bucks to fix. A recall for this problem was made for trucks made just after mine. I did not own the truck at that time. Should general motors stand behind this problem?

My colorado has 42k miles and on 5 different occasions i have been driving 45+ mph and suddenly warnings begin popping up on the console, "stabilitrak disabled" "traction control disabled" "power steering disabled, please drive with care" turning the truck off and then back on temporarily fixes the problem but it is continuing to happen and is incredibly dangerous! there is a recall for 2015 colorados for this exact problem; however, gm specified a 2 month manufacturing window where it applies to the recall. Gm needs to step up and recall all 2015 colorados for this before someone gets killed.

I experienced loss of power steering assist on my 2015 colorado (vin# [xxx]) at start up or while driving and immediately looked on line for a recall from gm. I found out that indeed gm had recalled this years colorado's and took it to the dealer for repair. Well it turns out that although the same problem, since the vin number of my truck did not match the recalled numbers, the dealer would not take care of it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph the stability control/traction control and power steering went out on my truck. This is very unsafe and many other year models are having this problem. This should have a recall on and forced to repair.it is a good thing i was close to an exit top get off the highway.

Driving at 65 mph on highway and lost power steering with no warning. As soon as the warning light was on; the power steering was gone.i managed to ease off onto an exit; however, this is extremely dangerous.although many colorados are being recalled for this issue, my colorado is not recalled because the build date is not in the timeframe chevrolet has identified.chevrolet agreed to pay for the diagnostic to identify the problem, but will not pay to correct the problem, even though there are countless complaints for this issue.

While operating my colorado at 45 mph the power steering went out causing me to lose all control of the truck and almost getting into an accident. I restarted the truck and it was able to take my colorado to dealer which found that the electronic steering sensor needed to be replaced at $2800. Checking the internet i found a growing number of similar complaints of colorodo owners losing control of their vehicles while the car is in motion. This is extremely dangerous and i want to warn everyone to get this checked as a safety issue. Chevrolet has opened an investigation[xxx]. Extremely dangerous especially depending on the driving experience of the driver as these vehicles are generally purchased for new young drivers. I will continue to investigate and suggest anyone reading to do your homework as well your life or in my case; my kids life may depend on it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Three times now in the last 2 weeks, the power steering warning comes on while driving - saying service is needed. 3 seconds later, power steering cuts out completely and vehicle is hard to steer with no power steering. When one pulls over and cuts off engine and restarts the engine, all is ok. Took it to dealer last week and told all was ok on brief check. This is dangerous and could cause an accident. There are multiple other complaints of this type on your site and investigation and possible recall are likely necessary. Vehicle was in motion on highway each time.

Power steering failed as i was driving 55 mph under normal conditions on a state highway, making control very difficult and dangerous. Dash displays engine warning lights and a message that reads "service power steering, drive with care". Steering becomes very difficult and requires a considerable amount of effort to turn the wheel. The issue resolved after turning off the truck. It happened again yesterday 3 times on a two lane highway. Although my colorado was built in 2/2015 the vin is not included in the recall for steering issues. This is dangerous.

This morning i turned on my 2015 chevy colorado z71 drove 5 minutes down road as i cut though backside of mall parking lot lucky there is no traffic in the moring as my dash dinged and lit up saying service power steering. I lost all power steering the wheel became really stiff to turn but i was able to pull to the side. I turned off and on the truck magically error went away, and i regained power steering. Looks like my vehicle is experiencing the same issue as others i called gm and filed complaint they offered for a tow to dealer (i passed for now sense i have to pay out of pocket and do not have $2000 for repair) it seems fine for now fingers crossed if it happens again i have to schedule some time to get it checked at a dealer or towed to it.

I have a 2015 chevrolet colorado with about 54,000 miles and purchased it used in 2018 from pohanka chevrolet with about 22,000. While driving under normal highway conditions on july 02, 2019, my truck experienced an abrupt loss of power steering. I was able to safely stop on the side of the highway, turn off the vehicle, and restart the vehicle.power steering function returned.i inspected the power steering fluid and noted that there was a sufficient amount in the reservoir. I continued driving with no issue until two days later when the same problem occurred again while driving.i stopped on the side of the road and restarted the vehicle like before with the power steering returning on restart.however, the same issue occurred again within minutes of driving.it happened a total of four ties on two separate days.on friday, 05 july i took my vehicle to my normal chevrolet dealership and they diagnosed that the problem was due to a malfunctioning steering gear torque sensor that would cost $1,962 to replace.i researched the issue further and found that the exact same issue was replicated in recall bulletin 15595a. However, my 2015 chevrolet colorado was not covered in that recall.it seems possible that the issue noted in 15595a may have been more expansive than was originally discovered.

Driving on the highway @ 45 mph, the "service power steering, drive carefully" sign came on. The power steering stopped working and the vehicle was very difficult to steer to the side of the road. I shut off the engine and restarted the problem went away. The next day on the way to the dealer the same thing happened at 55 mph. This tin=me i continued driving to the dealer so they could see the problem. The dealer verified the problem was in the steering gear and would cost $2000.00 to repair.this is a safety problem, listed in a partial recall by gm, which does not include my vin.the nhtsa should be investigating this before something catastrophic happens, perhaps to a family driving down the road.

Power steering failure.truck was moving at approximately 20mph while turning through an intersection.could not make it through the intersection.dealership says 2 components are bad:the 'steering angle sensor'. And the 'steering gear torque sensor.'the torque sensor is subject to nhtsa recall #21v213, but the 'angle sensor' is apparently not subject to any recall yet.truck is not driveable without both being fixed.

2015 chevrolet colorado, power straring assist failed during driving. This was without prior symptoms or warning while moving, creating a very unsafe condition. In reading the recall notice for the exact vehicle, make, year model with prior manufacturing date ranges are prior to my vehicles july 2015 manufactuing date. In the review, the conditions areexactly as stated in the current non applicable recall. I and mechanic suspect this is an intermitant electical connector issue that should be covered by extending the recall date range.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the power steering failed and the power steering reduced message was displayed on the instrument panel. During the failure, the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction. The contact stopped and restarted the vehicle and the failure was corrected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer athens chevrolet located at 4110 atlanta hwy, athens, ga 30606 to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering gear was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000 (steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 42,000.

Power steering turns off while driving or even when stationary. Stability track light also comes on. Resets when turning motor off and on again. Intermittent problem since may 2019 - bought as used vehicle.

While driving to work on highly traffic (major) highway the electric power assist system warning window to have serviced and power steering went out. To get the power steering back i have to pull over or into any area available put in park and shut engine off so it can reset and then try to maneuver back into traffic. I was given a nhtsa recall bulletin and told to take to a gm certified dealer but calling two dealers ships to tell me there isn't an open recall at this time. After researching there was a recall at one time but i never received any letter stating it possibly couldaffect my vehicle. And now that it is a problem i am told until it is an open recall nothing can be done.

Earlier this week a "check steering, bring in for service", and the stabillitrac light came on. Steering was tight, this while sitting in my driveway. We had it towed in to chevrolet and they reset something and the problem temporarily went away. We found out it was temporary because was on the interstate going about 50 to see her parents when the warning lights came on and the steering froze up. She was able to get it off the interstate, no power steering, and have it towed back to the dealer ship. Supposedly this issue was corrected back in 2016 but here it is happening again. Very dangerous situation. I've never heard of someone's power steering freezing up like that, let alone on a 5 year old vehicle. We could get killed. It would seem poor engineering on chevys part if something like this is going on. And the problem is nation wide. Are they going to put in a part that will fail in 3 years, while going 70 mph??? scared to drive it now.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Driving vehicle on road and warming for stability track comes on then warning for power steering comes on and i lose all power steering. It has happened five times in the past three weeks

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 55 mph, "loss of steering assist" illuminated and the steering ability became extremely difficult. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the road shoulder and turned off the engine. The contact moved the key back and forth in the ignition switch without turning on the engine and the vehicle started normally. The contact stated that the failure occurred two other times. The vehicle was taken to camino real chevrolet (2401 s atlantic blvd, monterey park, ca 91754) where it was diagnosed that the steering rack assembly needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 8-4885550097. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

I was driving and then my power steering went out and a caution light said power steering failure and drive with care. It was very scary because i could hardly turn my steering wheel. I was scared that i was going to crash .

22 mar 18: while driving my colorado ltat 30mph on my way to work,, warning light came on, with the message: 'service power steering (ps), drive with care. I cleared the message and another message came on: 'service stabilitrak. I went to work and parked it and 3 hours later, steering was normal.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving two blocks down the road, the steering wheel seized and became difficult to steer. In addition, the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally; however, the failure recurred two blocks down the road. The vehicle was taken to max motors nevada (1405 n osage blvd, nevada, mo 64772, (417) 667-4000) where part number: 84498587 sl-n gear, four bolt, clamp, and nut were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 95534473637. The failure mileage was approximately 49,945.

Power steering goes out at any time no warning hard to steer a man can steer it my wife can not

Vehicle lost power steering twice while in motion.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving 68 mph, the steering wheel seized and the stabilitrak and "power steering needs service" warning indicators illuminated. Thevehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,535. *dt

The power steering assist failed, making the truck unsafe to drive.the vehicle was stationary and running at the time of failure.the traction control was disabled at the same time.

Driving down the road dash lights came on stating service power steering drive with care while it was raining.drove for a while did not go out then stable link light came on.parked the truck came out later dash lights still on no par steering.i called the dealer they said bring it right down .after 140.00 diagnosing i was told i need a new electric rack and pinion system at a cost of 1800.00. Called gm for assist. They would only cover half.i told the dealer i will call gm tonight on the way home my truck jerked to the left and power steering came back buts lights stayed on.this happen on 02/13/20. Next day no rain power steering ok lights off i called the dealer and told they lets wait for a raining day again. On 02/25 -26/20 rain again lights on on power steering took it to another dealer was told the same thing .i talked to gm four times now without any help. On 02/27/20 no rain power steering working called gm back after finding 18027 power steering loss of assist reference number n172115610 was told by gm my truck was not cover although both dealers saw what was going on with the steering 6000 trucks are covered but not mine although it was happening when i spoke to gm.gm should be paying for the whole job not me. I was told to ask the dealer to cover the other half of bill by gm waiting to her back from dealer.

When put vehicle in park i am often unable to remove the key from the ignition. I have to restart it & move steering wheel to another position. Often have to do several times before i can get key out.dealer said there are complaints with vehicle being put in park & they said to move shifter in/out of park to get it to work. I can not figure out if shifter or steering column.

Power steering failed while on interstate at 70mph. Very difficult to control.had to pull over and cut of engine and restart. Did several times on the way to dealership. Dangerous and should be recalled.quote to install new power steering rack and pinion module for $1640.there is a recall on certain 2015 trucks for this problem but mine vin was not in the group.this should apply to all 2015.

I lost power steering while driving straight down the road at 50 miles an hour. An audible alarm went off and a messagepopped up "service power steering, drive with care" then a second message popped up "service stabilitrak." i pulled over to the side of the road and restarted my car and it went back to normal.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v213000 (steering). The contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed when the vehicle loss motive power and the power steering failed. Bystanders assisted the contact's husband to push the vehicle to a gas station. The vehicle was awaiting a tow truck to be towed. The dealer and manufacturer were made aware of the failure but offered no assistance.the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I was driving on the freeway anda light came on and said service power steering drive carefully. I then pulled over and let the car sit to see if it was a error. Nope back on the freeway and it happened again. Then shortly after a light came on and said service stable track. I've been reading lots of links with people saying they are having the same problem.

I bought the vehicle for my son.on september 13, the power steering failed on a turn on a city street, and he was unable to control the vehicle and hit a parked car on the opposite side of the street.the insurance company paid for a portion of our vehicle expense, but not the entire note which included taxes, license, fees, extended warranty and interest.

It has also gone weeks without alarming. .

On four separate occasions, my vehicle has lost power steering without warning. This occurred when driving at a variety of speeds and in a variety of conditions. One time, i was traveling at less than 5 miles an hour. Another time, i was traveling at 70 miles per hour. Some times it occurred during a turn, sometimes it occurred while traveling in a straight line.when power steering was lost, many warning lights would go off on the dashboard. After pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road, turning the vehicle off and then back on somewhere between 1 and 3 times, the power steering would come back.

Without any notice the power steering on my 2015 chevy colorado will stop working. This happens when i am stopped, when i am on the freeway, when i am driving slowly... Just totally random. Usually when i turn the car off and open the door, the car will reset and work. However, recently the problem persists and i have to repeat the process multiple times. Furthermore, when the warning comes on to "service the stabilitrak" or "service power steering" no codes show up when i scan the car. So the problem occurs and the car doesn't even register that it is happening. What's worse when i turn the car off and back on there is no record that the car ever coded to begin with.i have already gone round and round with dealerships and gm and they all give me the same run around. "bring it in and we will try to replicate the problem. Or you can drive it in without power steering." seriously? that's the best they can do.

Loosing steering capability at high rates of speed

My truck is acting crazy with multiple warnings in dash display, first one is stability track warning, steering warnings and the speed, temperature and revolution gauges start going up and down while the warnings are in the display. Also the have tw warning that i don't know what means.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster warning lights were dim. The contact stated while driving 75 mph there was a chiming sound heard. The wheels locked up and the vehicle pulled to the left. The power steering service message was displayed. The vehicle veered to the right and was uncontrollable. The contact was able to coast off the freeway. The contact contacted on-star who referred her to the manufacturer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the failure was like nhtsa campaign number: 16v054000 (steering). The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The manufacturer's legal team was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

Periodic steering problems.steering will become 'loose' and will have extra give when turning.problem will correct itself after the vehicle is turned off.this has happened several times regardless of driving conditions.

While driving my power stering failed

On wed. Sep 18th, 2019 i was driving through a parking lot at slow speeds as i was parking the steering failed.an indicator light was displayed on the dashboard indicating a steering failure and problems with the stabiltrack.it was very difficult to steer and pulled into a parking spot.i restarted my vehicle and the steering was functional again. I continued home travelling on highway at 100 km/h when the same sequence of events occurred.at high speeds it was easier to steer and i pulled to the shoulder of the road.i restarted my vehicle and returned home, and the next day i dropped the vehicle off at the dealership.it remains at the dealership, and i have been told the steering has to be repaired at a cost of $2100. This is a significant safety issue.if my wife or daughter had been driving the vehicle they would not have been able to muscle the steering wheel.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving at an unknown speed, the service power steering warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated normally. On another occasion, the service power steering warning indicator illuminated, but the steering remained operational. The vehicle was taken to gary russ chevrolet (located at 1420 sc-72, greenwood, sc 29649, (864) 538-0376) to be diagnosed, but there were no codes stored in the engine control module. The contact was informed that there was a software update for the steering. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 35,600.

On october 31, 2019, i was driving on a twisty mountain road in az when the dashboard alert aboutpower steering control chimed out several times.i could clear the message, but it kept coming back.the next day i stopped at the chevy dealership in payson, az and they said i had a bad battery (odd voltage which they thought was triggering the warnings) which they replaced.after this repair, i got back on the road for about 30 miles, and the warnings began again.i turned around, went back to the dealer, and they spent several hours checking everything before telling me that i would have to replace the entire power steering module at a cost of $2000+.since i am traveling (i don't live in az) and the parts for the repair would take a few days to arrive, i didn't schedule to have the work done, and i have continued to drive on.the warnings continue to ring out irregularly, often when i'm going straight down the road without turning (as well as every time i start the car), but the wheel hasn't seized up yet.it is worrisome, particularly as i am driving on freeways or in heavy traffic.i am over 2000 miles from home.

Power steering stopped while driving. Received error message on dashboard, power steering not working.please drive safe. Was driving on major highway in dallas area.road was dry and no rain in several days.

Power steering stopped working. Makes it very hard to turn. Very dangerous! mine started when i started the truck but now i see others have had it go out when they are going down the road.called the dealer the next day and the guy i talked to in the service department acted like this was the first time he had ever heard of this even though the scheduler i talked to first told me others had called with the same issue. Now, the next day, i see there is a recall for this. However, my truck is not included because it was built before a certain date. I'm pissed!

The vehicle loses power steering while in motion. This has happened at least 10 more times.

Vehicle repeatedly loses power assist steering accompanied by a chime and warnings. This occurs without warning under all driving conditions.it represents a very dangerous situation. Power steering can be restored by stopping and restarting the vehicle, and remains functional for variable times before again failing.i have reported this previously and did not hear anything with regards to some resolution. This is a clear vehicle safety issue and gm, from what i can find is well aware of it. The date i give for the incident is just the most recent.

Driving along and the power steering goes out. Has no common time or conditions as to when. Has happened on the highway, driveway and city streets. Steering is extremely difficult to turn. February 2017 (34141 miles) - lost power steering suddenly while driving at highway speed w/"power steering service" warning. Pulled over w/difficulty, shut down, restarted, problem seemed to disappear. Had code red at local chevy dealership, no charge, advised to return if issue recurred.may 2017 (38494 miles) - same issue. Returned to same chevy dealership, diagnosed "poor connection in torque sensor harness", installed sl-n-housing kit using n-lubricant and stated it was covered by warranty. July 2019 (71474 miles) - identical issue (driving, highway speed, power steering lost w/"power steering service" warning, and additionally traction control loss warning). Pulled over w/difficulty. Shutdown, issue resolved on restart.same day - went to same chevy dealer, told to return the next am due to scheduling.10 july 2019 - returned to same chevy dealer. After 2+ hours of inspection was informed the sensor could not be replaced alone and that a large portion of the steering column had to be entirely replaced due to the failing "torque sensor harness" w/repairs/parts estimated at over $2000.00. When i suggested that this may be a recall issue i was informed that the month my 2015 was built was not part of the recall even though the problem is essentially the same.note: the above vehicle is and has been almost exclusively driven on well maintained roads w/no aggressive off road use/abuse.

Takata recall. My 2015 colorado has experienced a power steering failure after recently having a steering electrical recall repair. I feel chevrolet is aware this is a major issue and a safety issue in a lot of colorado's. This should be handled as a recall not a 2k dollar repair put back on the consumer.

Power steering goes completely out

On 7/22/20 driving home from work when the stabilitrack service light came on and the power steering service soon light came on. After about 30 seconds the light went off. On 7/16/20 the stabilitrack service light came on twice and went off on the way home from walmart. Both times were on a straight highway speeds of about 65 with the power steering going out for 30 seconds.

On sept 12,2020 i experienced power steering failure, loud noise from under motor and steering wheel pushing back against my attempts to steer. I turned off the vehicle and restarted and the condition went away. Later that day i experienced the same noise and resistance when shifting from drive to reverse when returning home. ( i always back into the driveway)i am very nervous that this condition may cause a crash if it occurs while driving. I drive many two-lane county highways that do not have divided two-way traffic.

Powering steering failed while driving (straight) on a city street at approximately 30 mph. Several warning lights came on. Not drivable except a very short distance. Fortunately failure happened very near the chevrolet dealer and i was able to drive it there. This model is subject to a recall (gm recall 15595) however local dealer was totally unprepared for servicing the recall. I had the truck to the dealer by noon on april 1; it is now april 12 and dealer cannot tell me when parts will arrive and/or when the truck will be repaired.neither gm or the dealer has volunteered to pay the cost of the rental car the dealer provided for a fee, despite gm's pledge to remedy the condition "without charge and within a reasonable time."

While driving on a city street the power steering failed and a warning appeared to have the steering checked.i turned off the engine and when i restarted the power steering was working again. I continued driving for 5 minutes and the same problem recurred. I took the vehicle to fh dailey chevrolet in san leanddro, ca and they found that the problem was the same as for colorados covered by a recall notice.however, my vehicle was not included under the recall.

I'm driving down the road at about 45 miles an hour and i got two messages pop up and says service stabilitrak and service power steering drive. Than i had total loss of power steering at 45 miles an hour.

While in motion on a city street at low speed near my home, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering assist. I returned to my home and parked. Later, i restarted the vehicle and found that power steering was working normally. Took truck to dealer, who diagnosed as faulty "electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear", part # 84494275. Estimate to repair was over $1800. Refer to gm bulletin 18027 for additional info.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the power steering seized and various unknown warning indicators illuminated. During the most recent failure, the power steering failed to reset and the vehicle was towed to reliable chevrolet (9901 coors blvd nw, albuquerque, nm 87114, 505-216-2993). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on her vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Lost power steering while driving. Warning light and alarm came on dash. Turned off ignition and back on and had steering back.this happened several times. This was in feb. 2019.didn't happen again until dec. 2019 and happened several times. Each time it would lose power steering and i turn car off and back on and power returned. Very dangerous when trying to steer because it is extremely difficult to steer without power.last time i lost it on the interstate and it was so dangerous. Gm put out a recall on power steering on 2015 chev colorado(but not on ours for what reason?)recall # 15595. I have the exact problem on my 2015 chevy colorado!

Was stopped at a red light. Warning sound came and instrument cluster mentioned stabilitrak and power steering fault, drive with care. Had no power steering for rest of trip to work. Had this of happened in traffic and in a turn i could have easily hit a car as it was extremely difficult to turn. Turned off vehicle and started back up and everything was fine.

Sudden loss of power steering traveling about 75 mph on freeway. Light came on saying "service power steering" and wheel was very difficult to turn.also got message that stabiltrak was out and got warning lights on dash. Continued on trip.when i restarted engine after stopping for a while, all returned to normal.

Intermittent electric power steering assist.

I stopped at a stop sign and heard the truck warning chimes and saw a service power steeringmessage and when i tried to move the wheel i couldn't turn it. I put the truck in park and shut it off. Waited a few seconds and turned it back on and i had power steering again.was able to get it back to work and called and had it towed back to chevy dealer and get it repaired, (i thought). They said they had to reprogram the power steering control module.it happened again today when my daughter was driving on a town road came around a sharp curve and lost the steering again. She was able to pull over into a driveway and shut it off and when it started back up the power steering was working again.

Power steering and stabilitrak warning indicator comes on while driving vehicle with power steering going out immediately.stopping on the side of the road, shutting off the vehicle, and then turning it on resets the power steering and all is fine, however, with the steering failing while driving it is a serious safety issue.it has now happened twice in a week with the vehicle having less 50k miles.the first occurrence was during city driving a low speed, the second was on highway.dealer is now saying the rack and pinion needs to be replaced at a significant cost.

In the last week my power steering has failed 4 times.the vehicle has been in motion each time.one time i was on the expressway., twice on city streets and the last time on my home street. The vehicle has just over 68,000 miles. If i turn the vehicle off and wait a minute or two and then turn it back on i have power steering control back.

Power steering message pops up while driving and wheel is extremely difficult to steer.has happened twice.reset 9/9/2019 and hasn't happened again yet.very dangerous especially since 16 year old daughter sometime drives.

Power steering failed while driving at speed on the freeway in a turn. There are many recalls for this same thing on the same model and year but not my vin#.recall should be expanded. Chevrolet reduced the amount for repair from $2100 to $800 but should be covered in a recall.

The steering is shaking when i get to certain speeds

Power steering still repeatedly goes out while driving. This is the same thing that led to the national recall in 2016. Brought to carl black chevy dealership, 1110 roberts blvd nw, kennesaw, ga. They claim to have fixed the power steering problem in 2016, but clearly this was not done since the power steering has continued to go out since then. Dealership refuses to attempt to fix it unless i first pay them to look at it.

While driving my 2015 chevrolet colorado on the 2 fwy in glendale ca when the vehicleexperienced a loss of power steering assist while driving, it became very difficult to steer. A warning appeared on the dash reading power steering service required drive safely. Also a traction control warning. I pulled over and turned off the ignition and the error cleared but came back within 2 minutes. I took itto my local chevy dealer autonation chevy in valencia and they read an error code ofa poor electrical connection within the torque-sensor harness connector. They recommended flashing the computer with latest firmware. They did this for a $200 fee. And within 1 day it did the same error condition again. I did some research online and found there is a recall for this exact condition for 2015 chevy colorado's. My dealer saids there is no open recalls they can see but below is what ive found.recall bulletin 15595a.the national highway traffic safety administration campaign id number for this recall is 16v054. I brought this to my dealers attentionto no avail.

The power steering would randomly turn off while driving. It would become very difficult to steer the truck, and almost caused several accidents. Restarting the vehicle would temporarily bring the steering back to normal. As time went on, this would happen more and more frequently. Chevrolet had a recall on a small amount of trucks, but my vin wasn't included in the recall (for reasons that chevrolet wouldnt't disclose to me) so i had to pay $2300 out of pocket for a new steering gear set up. Chevrolet should do the right thing and recall or at least offer to fix all 2015 colorados and canyons with this problem. If a younger, or inexperienced drivers runs into a problem where the power steering goes out without warning, someone can get injured or killed. I know i am not the only person that was affected by this. This problem happened in many situations. While on the highway, while in parking lots, while mid turn...it was very scary.

My truck rang 3 times and a prompt showed up on the dash saying service power steering and loss of stabilitrack. I was sitting at the drive thru and had to pull straight into a parking spot because turning the vehicle became pretty much impossible. My truck only has 30,000 miles on it.

On aug 7, 2018, while driving the power steer quit working causing a safety issue. The vehicle was in motion on a city street. The weather was dry.it would reset after restarting the vehicle and then quit again. It occurred 4 times.it was taken to the dealership and the "steering rack" was replaced. We called chevrolet and worked with the dealership, but they stated that the vehicle has 51k miles and was 1 k over the warrantee.

2 times in the last month my power steering has turned off while driving straight on the highway at approximately 60 mph, other alerts pop up on my dashboard but i have been so focused on safely trying to get off the road i dont know what they are. When i restart the vehicle the steering seems to work again.

I'm constantly receiving the message "service power steering drive with care" then afterwards i receive the message "service stabilitrak". This message has continued to occur at random times while driving on a highway while driving 70+ mph. The steering wheel locks up and i have to physically strain to power the wheel to turn and pull over to shut the vehicle off for 10 seconds then turn it back on and the problem is gone. However the power steering continues to go out again at random times while driving lower speed limits through city streets. The problem with the power steering is continuous. I'm also having issues with the temperature control. My trucks heat will go out and only produce cool/cold air at random times. It will work then the heat will go out at random times. I have the gauges set to hi heat with full fan output and it only produces cool air. I'm unable to properly defrost the windows during cold temperatures due to lack of heat. Defrost fan options output is inaccurate as it can be on high output and turned one notch down and the fan speed is consistent with the lowest fan speed.

Power steering message came on while driving on highway leading to very hard to turn the wheel. Pulling over and turning off the car and putting it back on cleared the problem. This has happened twice within the last month.

After shopping at a local mall, my wife and i were driving home on the local expressway traveling at approximately 65mph in a straight line, no curves, when a loud tone alarm went off in my 2015 chevy colorado.the control panel error "service power steering drive with care" displayed and i lost all power assist.the wheel stiffened up and a dangerous driving situation presented itself. Since it was nearly a straight shot to my home, only 3 turns involvedto my drive way we limped home since my wife is in ill health. I was careful to take the 3 turns slowly although the wheel was very heavy and fought my movements.whenit was safe to eventually turn the vehicle off, a restart removed the error and the wheel was again easy to turn and a quick test drive proved uneventful.i am now afraid to drive the truck and will contact the dealer in the morning. It is now sunday and they are not opened.

On 2/9/17, i had the steering recall work performed. On my way home while making a right, steering completely locked. I crossed into the opposite lane until the steering freed up. I drove a few more days without issue but i did notice a knocking sound coming from the front. The following week there were a few times where the steering did not immediately respond. On 2/22/17, i went back to the dealer and they said that they could not duplicate, but they did secure a loose front fog light to fix the knocking. I picked up the trunk and initially did not hear any more knocking; however, the knocking was still there when on rough surfaces. I continued to experience the knocking and subtle issues where the steering did not immediately respond when corning. Around march 18th, i again started to experience the locking. On march 20th, it happened approximately 20 times or more. On 3/22/17, i was back at the dealer where they were able to reproduce the issue. I was told that there were no codes in the system and i saw no lights on the dash. This time the performed the following: "33967 steering assist motor binding, high effort 3.20 no dtc, scan data normal, circuit test normal, replaced steering gear, perform epscm set up, perform front end alignment. Verify repairs". On 3/23,17, i picked up my truck and it seemed as good as new. Even the knocking went away. On 4/2/17, i experienced 2 times back to back in a parking lot where the steering locked and i came close to hitting a parked car. On 4/3/17, on my way to the dealer, it again locked. Turning into the dealer parking lot, there was the subtle hesitation. The tech drove it and could not make it happen. I then went with the tech and i could not make it happen in the 15 minutes we were out. At this point, i'm not sure when it will happen again and i feel that this has been and is a safety issue.

Three days after purchasing the truck the dash drop on the left drivers side and you can see the speaker through the dash. The truck was in motion when this happen. Before we could take it in for repairs? the interior lights were coming on and off; door alarm going off; door locks moving up and down when the truck was in motion. Stop several times to try and securs back right 1/2 door! it would not secure in the bottom sticker! after the repairs were made? we notice that we drove the truck all the home and the back right 1/2 door was not secure in the striker! no alarms went off! no matter how hard you shut the door? it is still hard to secure into the bottom striker! no alarm will sound to let us know that this door is still open! on 01/25/2016 i reported a buzzing coming from behind the radio! we shut all satellite electronics off! you can still her a buzzing coming from the radio if the truck is moving or not, engine running or turned off; doors open or close! the buzzing is not consentin at this time; but it is still happening. I reported it to the dealship and it has not been repaired as of this date!

Hood vibrates a lot when driving down the highway ( 50 - 80 mph ) - especially on the drivers side.

2005 chevy colorado rusted frame next to rear cab mounts on both sides. Frame is cracking in this location. This appears to be the result of rusting from the inside out because the rest of frame looks to be in good condition. Still has paint on it. I think this is a weak spot in the frame due to a structural engineering issue. I have found many other people complaining of the same problem with there chevy colorado's

At about 50mph and higher, the hood of the truck flutters.with gusty cross wind, the problem gets worse.took it to a dealer to be serviced on oct 31st, 2014 and they couldn't figure out the problem and told me they will contact the manufacture and try to get feed backs from them.

Why is it ok?will somebody please help us? please

We purchased a new 2015 chevy colorado in january 2015. On march 3, 2017, my son heard the truck start and run while he was sleeping. The truck is in the garage below his bedroom. I brought it dealership the next day and also filed a safety complaint with general motors. It is approaching 2 months they have had the vehicle. During most of march and now april, mechanics, technicians, engineers from gm and a field representative tried to decipher the issue. At/around 3-22, i received a call from the service manager(andy) telling me, they "think" they found the problem. I let him know i would not take it back without at least 100% assurance it was solved. They decided to keep another few days and drive it. I have also talked extensively with gm customer service. They have said, they will not help in any way.

Unable to remove key at times, key will not turn all the way off at intermintenttimes, when putting vehicle in park.

Key has been sticking in ignition, unable to remove.ive kept the key in the ignition and the battery has needed jumped. Dealer tells me this is a very common problem on chevy colorados from 2015 and 2016 as i have now discovered on multiple chevy forums.

While backing up my driveway glanced at the backup camera.it appeared to have plenty of distance left between the rear or car and the garage door. While at a very low speed , without notice ,the truck hit the garage.it went from what appeared to be several feet to making contact with the garage instantly. No sensors, lights or alarms went off. No warning what so ever

Front gauge panel not responding. Only the battery gauge is working. A service message shows for all affected areas.no indication of transmision shift, speed, temperature, oil, tachometer and ohter features not shown on panel. Vehicle still able to run.

A factory bolt that is not checked up routine maintenance/inspection came loose and caused significant damage to the rear axle of our truck. Gm's customer service did not feel a need to cover the costs of this manufacturer error when the bolt should not have come loose in the first place. Please see attached complaint for further details.

Vehicle looses accelaration on take off it., notall the time you don't know when its going to happen . This is dangerous you have to be very careful when pulling out from stop position or changing lanes thetruck will loose accelaration .i have almost been involved in an accident because of this . It will also buck as you are going down the road. I have had it back to country chevrolet several times and they have asked me to work with them a lot of times it was never documented. The vehicle is going to get me or someone killed. This truck started this from day 1

When connected to any android device the steering wheel controls upon pressing the back skip button bring up a large error box on the mylink display stating that function is not available. The actual skip backwards takes place and does indeed work but then you have to take eyes away from road to hit button on screen to clear error box, thus making the safety of using the steering wheel control button pointless. All other skip backwards buttons onscreen and below the screen work fine with no error. This has been tested on multiple android devices and regardless of the device or version number causes the box to display when using the skip back button only on steering wheel. Scanning bluetooth inputs coming into device show all 3 buttons (mylink display, below display, and steering wheel) send the exact same command to the android device and work. But some reason the actual mylink software is reading the steering wheel back button as also asking for something else that brings up that error box.

While operating the subject vehicle at highway speeds the vehicle has an intermittent vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle.this vibration causes the vehicle to shake and affect the overall ride of the vehicle.

Power steering locks up, messege of poweer steering assist comes up on dasboatd

I bought a 2015 chevy colorado at the beginning of the year - since then i would on occasion notice a "shudder" or sluggish acceleration followed by sudden burst of rpms/acceleration. At about the 3 month mark (around 4500 miles) my transmission failed and was replaced.about a 3/4 of a month later i got my truck back and continued to notice the same shudder and erratic behavior.i began to research the issue and found many drivers of this and the gmc model are encountering the same issue.i have had to nag the dealership about the issue and there eventually was a tcm (transmission control module) software update which seem to max the issue which is beginning to manifest itself again.the short version of symptoms is as follows:sudden acceleration at slow speeds (this caused me to almost hit a motorcyclist in slow moving traffic), odd gear shifting (or lack of) going up hills, or going down hills, sometimes turning...odd shifting at normal speeds (but normally on hills).vibration at normal driving speeds that seems to come from under the truck (not the tires)?i'm finding the truck to be more and more unpredictable and am not sure i wont encounter another failure in the near future.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet colorado. On several occasions while attempting to accelerate in traffic, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. After waiting for several minutes, the accelerator pedal was depressed again and the vehicle responded as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. My truck has less than 9k miles and a tire (goodyear) disingrated @ 35 mph on the way to a store.dealer service dept says "can't do anything".does this mean the other 3 tires are about to fail?

I have a 2015 chevy colorado lt and i noticed that at 27000 miles my front tires were not wearing even. I don't know why the car would do that if it's practically new. The wheels started cracking from the outside.
