I have a 2007 chevy colorado that airbag light remained on, after searching the web found problem information that problem could bewith wires that are in the door with the extended cab model. I had cut the cover in the extended door to reveal the wires to find that 4 wires were broken. I spliced together the wires and the air bag light went off. I open and close this door every day but do not think that wires should break. I went 4 months not knowing airbags would work or not. I think this is a big issue .

The wiring harness between the truck body and the rear driver side half-door (extended cab) passes through a flexible rubber housing.the pair of wires to the seat belt tensioner (part of the airbag system) were broken completely in half mid-way through the rubber housing from normal use of opening and closing the door.airbag light on dash stayed on permanently which prompted me to locate the problem.only found it because the radio speaker in that same door had stopped working as well.found that it had broken wires in the same location along with the airbag system wires.this problem is well documented in online forums as many colorado owners across many production yearshave had the same issue.
Another driver operating the truck.speed limit was 25 mph, she missed the curve, went down a ditch, snapped a guide wire coming out of the ditch, and ended up in a in a front lawn.the airbag did not employ, even though there was damage to the front of the truck in the approximate amount of $3,000.00.
Son was driving the car on the expressway.roads were wet and slippery.he rear-ended another vehicle.the damage to the other vehicle was minimal, but was extensive to our vehicle (in excess of $6,000.00).again, the airbag did not deploy, although the impact caused the front hood of the truck to fly-up and hit the windshield.
Takta recall-brake lights, just stopped working along with the cruise control, also outside truck bed light. Switch ignition locks. Lights stopped working while driving down street. Ignition when tring to start vehicle.
This vehicle started having problems with the air bag light staying on, i took the truck into local chevy dealer on october 16, 2015and it was determined that the code for the airbag and seat belt retractor were the problem and the cost was $1288. I received a letter from chevrolet dated october 2015 which outlined the identical problem and i have called them and the case#8-1632849396 they refuse to cover this problem because the miles on the truck is 135,000 miles and they stated that the coverage is only up to 120,000.this problem is a safety issue and should be a recall and not limited to miles as they are attempting to do with the letter.i have not had truck repaired.

Passlock security system malfunctions and randomly does not let you start your vehicle for ten minutesleaving you stranded.sometimes it will do it continually.have had to wait as long as 80 minutes to start.
Abs light comes on and doesn't shut off.there is a "rubbing/pulsating" noise when i push the brakes and i can hear something activating in the engine compartment (maybe the abs computer?).i checked the brake fluid and its good.nothing was damaged when the brakes were changed earlier.when i turn it on after having it off for a little while, there are no fault indications.when i start moving forward i can here some sort of motor or pump or something initiating.after a little bit i start pushing the brakes at the stop sign then all of a sudden the abs fault light, emergency brake light comes on as well as the abs fault and brakes message flashing across the display.i am not taking it to the dealership as they are worthless.
The passlock anti-theft device keeps my vehicle from starting thinking it's being stolen.. Disabling the fuel pump.. This is a safety issue and has also made me late for work several times and stranded. It started occurring this year july 22, 2017 with no prior incidents. It's occurring on a regular interval and it's getting to the point that i cant rely on my vehicle to start as normal. Please let there be a recall on getting the manufacturer general motors to fix this on my colorado as it's the only fault on this vehicle. The faulty passlock systems should be a recalled item since it will disable the fuel pump and having to wait 10 minutes for the the system to reset at unknown or unsafe places.i am a single mother with two kids and i rely on my vehicle to commute to and from school and work. Luckily the incidents have occurred at work, at home, at walmart parking lot.. But who knows when the system decided as it gets worst.my seventeen year old son has taken the vehicle out and i'm always worried about this safety due to this faulty passlock anti-theft device. The vehicle has 181,450 miles, no check engine lights show on dash.. Other than this issue.. It's the only reason the vehicle is mostly parked in my driveway.. Only myself will take the drive it for short distances. I wish and hope to have the manufacturer render a needed recall on this passlock anti-theft device system... .updated 10/04/17
Engine will not start turns over let sit for 10 minutes to 2 hours will start had checked on computer several times nothing shows up was told it was crank sensor replaced with no change now im told it is security sensor truck has done this since it was new randomly now has 78k miles getting sick of being stranded and late to work gm should have a recall on this
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the abs warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
Truck was stationary, tried to start, turned over but didn't start. Waited 10-15 minutes and started ok. This happens once a week and has something to do with 'passlock'. Once i was on way to hospital, delayed again. Dealer has multiple guesses but no fixes.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado.while driving 30 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration, began smoking, and finally stalled.the dealer only offered a warranty on the parts and made three attempts to repair the vehicle within the last three months.the dealer is not repairing the failure by replacing the wiring that melted and burned.the repair receipt states that the cause of the failure was an electric continuity through negative cable.the parts were replaced under warranty.the current mileage was 39,000 miles and failure mileage was 31,000.
Starting in 2014, the vehicle had widely spaced and random issues of not starting, but would start fine after an undetermined amount of time.at the time, i did not know that it was related to the pass lock system which will not allow a restart for a period of approximately 10 minutes.in the past month, i have had this problem approximately 12 or more times and finally found out that it was caused by the pass lock system.this condition is very dangerous because if the truck is shut off to save fuel in a traffic jam, or at a traffic accident, etc, it may not restart when the road then becomes open, leaving you stranded in a traffic lane.because the problem is totally intermittent, you can't troubleshoot it because by the time you try to find out what is wrong, there is nothing wrong and it will restart fine.the problem can be in the ignition module (icm), the body control module (bcm) or a connector or wiring at any point in between as well as some other remote possibilities.this problem has caused me to late almost every time it has happened.the only solution offered by the dealership is replacing parts piecemeal starting at the cheapest and working up which can lead to expenses over $1000.00 and will still not guarantee the problem is fixed.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that upon initial startup, the vehicle would hesitate to start between 5-15 minutes. The dealer cleared the lock codes in an attempt to repair the failure but to no avail.the contact also mentioned he heard a squealing noise whenever he would depress the brake pedal. The dealer advised there were over 16 sensors connected between the brake system and the ignition and he would not be able to replace every sensor.the failure mileage of the vehicle was 33,917 and the current mileage was 34,241. Updated 4/27/10.*ljthe consumer stated the brakes have not stopped squealing since it was first purchased. The consumer stated when he applied the brakes at times, the vehicle would not fully stop.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the clasp for the front passenger seat belt fractured. In addition, the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed but the repairs were unknown. The contact stated that the remedy did not resolve the failure. The contact also stated that the heating and cooling fan were fractured the fan was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Htr/ac blower motor won't work at 3 lowest speeds, only works at #4 highest speed.temporary fix at wire connector by cleaning a burnt connector.finally failed again in less than a year.truck is out of warranty, dealership claims they never heard of such a problem, but think that a new blower motor would solve problem.i disagree.it is a fairly cheap fix involving new connector, proper grounding, etc, and should be covered in or out warranty since it is a design problem.i've been a longtime gm buyer since 1964, but am nearing the end of my patience with them.too many problems that they never recognize as widespread.
Heater/blower electrical system defect in original design.....18,234 miles(10/26/2007):heater/blower motor only worked on high...dealer replaced under warranty the resistor and connector to the blower since it was melted51,612 miles(6/4/2010): same problem: heater/blower motor only worked on high...dealer replaced the resistor and connector to the blower since it was melted. We paid for this one73,853 miles(11/26/2012): more issues with heater blower. Blower intermittently works. Replaced the resistor. Power to motor...replaced the blower motor.74,313 miles (12/21/2012): more issues: blower only works sometimes. Burned connection at right kick pillar/ power at fuse, but not to the blower. Terminal for power at connector behind kick panel on right side had poor connection and burned connector. Dealer had to cut wire out of connector and bypass to repair.have contacted gm...even though this problem is in the nhtsa database and reported on other websites, they take no responsibility for the design problem.
Air conditioning fan motor stopped working on positions 1,2 and 3 and works only on 4. New blower motor resistor required.
Vehicle failed to start after being driven, this happened twice previously, once at approximately 59k and again at approximately 60k miles.it appears this is the same problem other 2007 colorado owners have identified. Vehicle cranks, but does not fire as there appears to be no fuel flow.again after waiting 10-15 minutes it will start.this is not a safe situation for any vehicle owner, if there should be an emergency that the owner needs to get away from, waiting to get your vehicle started is not an acceptable activity for anybody.i am a safety officer with a state dot agency and must be able to respond after hours for emergency events, should my vehicle not start, waiting is not an acceptable answer for my delay.
My 2007 chevrolet colorado ls 4 cylinder 2.9 litre has always randomly won't start.i researched this and every year of the colorado has had this issue of randomly not starting, countless dollars have been spent trying to figure it out, chevrolet will not say it is an issue and it is a huge issue for almost every single year. Passlock issue? just costed me 266.00 at the chev garage and my truck still is struggling to start, been told starter and battery are fine. Alternator voltage regulator are fine. Lemon please recall for this issue it's so unfair to us consumers to waste money trying to figure out a faulty design in a vehicle. Go on you tube, countless people share the same issue. Could get me fired from my job for my truck not starting constantly. It will start countless times then not start usually when you need it the most. Estero bay chevrolet has my records.
Anti-theft locks up engine sometimes twice a day. Must wait 15 minutes for anti-theft to timeout for vehicle to start. I've had numerous visits to mechanics, locksmiths, truck towed. Gm dealer tells me they have never heard of this problem. I see this is a very common problem among other 2007 chevy colorado owners. I have emailed gm with a complaint and they never responded. Very frustrated! i have been a loyal chevy owner my whole life. I will never buy another chevy again. Unfortunately i'm not wealthy and can't just replace this disaster of a vehicle. Let's hope i'm never in an emergency situation where my vehicle not starting causes detrimental results. Shame shame shame on you chevy for your utter lack ofresponsibility to fix a known problem.
I got a recall notice for my truck, the brake lights won't work in the taillight system. The brake light above the back window works. When i called about this i was told the recall was over my vehicle was not one of the recalled vehicles, all my other lights work it is only my brake lights that don't work. I feel like this is part of the recall. What should i do. They say arkansas is not part of the recall.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the ignition failed and he was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle also stalled intermittently while driving due to the ignition switch failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer replaced the ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacture advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 14v047000 (electrical ignition). The approximate failure and current mileage was 148,000. Rk
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. While driving at an unknown speed, an electrical burning odor was present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was discovered that excessive voltage was present in the blower motor fan and drawing too much current, which caused the electrical wires to overheat, burn, and melt. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 28,000.
It was fix by gm for $385.00 ignition switch
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that it took several attempts to start the vehicle. The failure occurred numerous times without warning. The vehicle was taken to young chevrolet (9301 e r l thornton fwy, dallas, tx 75228, (469) 294-3000), but was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
Vehicle would not start after parked and shut off engine. Found that the passlock anti-theft system had activated somehow. The engine would not turn over, only a few audible tones and the red "lock" light on. Also it showed an abs fault.note- i do not have an aftermarket alarm or locks on my truck, i actually don't have any aftermarket anything on my truck besides tinted windows.i checked the battery with my multimeter, voltage was at 12.7vdc.after a few more unsuccessful attempts, i unhooked the battery and let it sit for about 15 minutes to maybe reset the computer.tried again and found that the computer did not reset.called the dealer, jn automotive in honolulu, and they said they have never heard of the problem and to bring it in. I got it towed there and after a day they said that the battery had a low voltage of 11.6~vdc and that's why it wouldn't start/turn over.i know for a fact that 11+vdc will turn an engine over at least a few times if not just start it. So they were able to start the truck by apparently unhooking the battery from the truck for a long period of time (maybe an hour, overnight, whatever) and replacing it.this did not solve the issue of why my truck "all of a sudden" initiated the anti-theft system and lock me out from starting the engine.they charged me over $200 for a new battery plus $100+ for labor because they said the problem was with the battery and not the truck electronics.i really needed my truck as i had all my tools and paperwork in there and i had to go back to work.they said this is the first time they encountered this problem.google revealed many accounts of this problem. Oh, and by the way, when i was there i saw at least 6 newer corvettes and 4 newer avalanches there for some problem so watch out chevy owners...
2007 chevrolet colorado. Consumer states malfunction with thepasslock system *tgwaccording to the owners manual, the passlock is a theft-deterrent system. The passlock enables fuel of the ignition lock cylinder if turned with a valid key. If an incorrect key is used or the ignition lock cylinder is tampered with, the fuel system is disabled and the vehicle will not start. What was not mentioned in the owner's manual is that the system malfunctions even when a valid key is used and or the lock cylinder has not been tampered with.the system failed on numerous occasions. Each time, the consumer had to wait 10-15 minutes and then the engine would start. The vehicle finally failed altogether and had to be serviced at the dealer. After the vehicle was serviced, five months later, the vehicle failed to start at a rest stop. The vehicle failed to start again seven days later.
The vehicle won't start, then will start like ten to twenty minutes later.first it turns over and makes the sound like you started it while it was running then it tries to start on its own, but can't!it turns over fine like it will start after that but can't start.battery seems to be fine, just won't ignite the engine.this happened two days in a row.i can't plan around this.my kids are getting to school late!i don't want to get stuck somewhere i'm not safe either!
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the engine failed. The contact mentioned that after ten minutes of waiting to restart the vehicle, the passlock anti theft system warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred sporadically. Often my truck will not start up, i have had it checked and i am told the battery and cables are fine.. So i am guessing it could be the starter (ignition) switch.. Is my type of truck on the recall list? this happens quite often and it happens ata very inconvenient time. Maybe you can tell me what is wrong and what to do to get it fixed.
Truck continues to fail when trying to start, you have to wait 10-15 minutes before trying start the vehicle. Vehicle will start after wait sometimes . The passlockwill continue to blink until 10-15 minutes have gone by. This is happening after every other start and has caused me to be late work and now i have to leave 30 minutes or 45 minutes earlier. This also will be a problem if you have an emergency.took vehicle vehicle to dealer now i need a new ignition switch. The check engine light stays on and now i need a new evap vent solenoid. I 'm part of a first responder team and i need my to start every time besides normal wear and tear.
Passlock issuesongoing for over a year..probably closer to a year and a half.vehicle will not start and thinks being stolen.passlock shuts down computer.10 minute wait for computer.sometimes it takes 1, 2, 3, or 4 times waiting for 10 minutes!with small children it is not fun waiting!! twice in this time we were on our way to the hospital and had to wait...thankfully the wait did not make for a life threatening situation, but it could have!have also been stranded in the snow and freezing cold while having to wait! once was stranded after changing a flat tire on a hazardous road! ....have also been late to numerous activities including work.please gm, do a recall!!
On may 6, 2017, our 2007 chevrolet colorado was driven approximately 400 miles with several stops and turned off with no problems.once we arrived at destination, said vehicle was parked in driveway of relative's home.lapse time of about an hour, then the truck would not start.nothing electrical worked.after leaving the truck overnight, the next morning the truck started up and ran as if nothing ever happened.we returned the 400 miles home without incident.a month later, (6/12/17) the truck was driven about 5 miles, parked, turned off at a grocery store.approximately 30 minutes of shopping, returned to truck and it would not start.had to leave it there and hopefully it will start in the morning.i am deeply concerned about complaints i have encountered on several websites about these vehicles.it appears that this in not an uncommon problem with the chevrolet colorado.it also appears as if no problem has been acknowledged by chevrolet nor a recall has been issued.after much research i can find no definitive solution to the problem.surely chevrolet could at least give us a fix for this problem as it has caused all kinds of inconvenient situations and life threatening incidents when the truck decides to quit running at interstate speeds.

I was driving on the highway and noticed my cruise control wouldn't come on. I figured it was a fuse and would get to it after work. When i pulled into work a coworker who was behind me told me i had no brake lights. Checked all fuses, all were fine. Took the truck to a chevrolet dealership and was told the brake switch and/or wires had burnt up and needed to be replaced. I paid over $500 for the repair. Later found out there was a recall for this incident, but it did not cover my vin. I called gm and complained and was told there was a "special coverage" so they reimbursed me a portion of my repair costs. Fast forward to february 10, 2014 and i have the same issue. No cruise but more importantly no brake lights. I called gm to complain again and was again told my vin does not fall under the recall (recall no. 09049). Was also told the special coverage expired 4 months ago.
Once every month or so the truck will not start. Makes no difference if the truck has been in the garage all night or shut off for 10 minutes. The lock indicator light on the dash flashes. After waiting for 15 min. The truck will start.i am using the same keyhad two dealer (old glenway chev.) andandy's chev. Several times however they could find no problem.
Blower motor was running on low.i detected a faint odor of something hot. Blower quit working. Runs on hi speed (4) only.will not run on speeds 1,2 or 3.researched problem online. Seems to be a common problem. There is an issue with the blower motor resistor and connector. When i checked, one of the pins on the connector and socket is burned. Potential for fire exists. I ordered new parts. (blower motor resistor & connector).
This is a safety issue as the vehicle (many 2007 colorado's at least from review of the nhtsa complaint page & discussion with other users) fails to start, sometimes once, sometimes twice, and i have had 4 occasions in a row where the truck failed to start.it appears the anti-theft system engages for no apparent reason resulting in a 10-15 minute "time out" before you can again attempt to start the vehicle.obvious as the anti-theft icon is flashing when you attempt to restart the vehicle. This at first was simply an inconvenience, but now it is not only frustrating, it is dangerous should you have to need this vehicle in a emergency (evacuation from your home or a medical emergency).this had first started to be once every few weeks, and now that i'm at 61,500 miles, it has been more frequent (once it happened 4 times in a row) almost 3-4 times per week.you can't be expected to change your schedule to go to work or just use the vehicle to carry on your life 30-40 minutes earlier than you already do just in case the vehicle fails to start; or be able to use this vehicle with any reliability in an emergency.spoke with a local chevy dealer repair shop on the phone months ago and they basically said they were not aware of this type of issue and most likely couldn't resolve it as it is an intermittent problem.
"takata recall" the check engine light comes on then the security light comes on then it goes czasy.all the light start flasing but it want start.had it towed to firestone they said batteryand cable need changing ;did that then they said the truck sat in bay and started up by itself. The paaslock will not let me drive this truck

The engine started missing on 1cylinder, then showedan engine warning light. The instrument panel also showed a reduced power warning. The truck was taken to my local garage, and subsequent inspection showed no compression in #1 cylinder. The truck was then towed to flemington buick chevrolet gmc. Inspection there was diagnosed as burnt valves or failed valve seats. There are service bulletins on 2005 and 2006 colorados for valve and valve seat problems. The service personnel at the dealership were honest and considerate to inform me of the bulletins on the older models, and that while there were no bulletins on 2007 colorados, mine was not the only one tohave the same type of valve problems. The 2005 and 2006 models were repaired up to 100,000 miles free of charge. As there are no service bulletins or recalls on 2007 models, chevrolet has offered to pay only half of the repair costs. My vehicle is now 5 months past warrantywith 75000 miles and was bought used off lease.chevrolet has offered to pay half the repair cost of approximately 2800 dollars because they say this was unusual. I feel they should pay the whole cost as this repair is a continuance of the 05, 06 problem. Is there anyway to check how many 2007 colorados have valve problems similar to the 05, 06 valve and cylinder head bulletins.
When driving in motion after 10 minutes (stick shift ) the truck shuts off when i shift it in neutral mostly on the highway ,when i pull off the exit atand idle (at a light ) the truck will shut off at times.i brought it to the chevy dealership 4 times to be fixed.im going on my 5th.
Paslock system shuts off fuel for no apparent reason. Have to wait 10 minutes and truck will start. This happens about 35% of time when try to start the truck.

I was slowing down at an intersection to make a right hand turn.as i made the turn, my engine died.i lost power steering, and my vehicle was extremely difficult to control.i nearly hit another car.my engine restarted immediately after i placed the truck in park.the next day, my truck died again while slowing to enter an intersection.i immediately took it to a mechanic, who replaced the throttle body.on the way home, it died while make a right hand turn.this appears to be a common failing with the chevrolet colorado, and is very dangerous as it causes a loss of power steering.
Takta recall-brake lights, just stopped working along with the cruise control, also outside truck bed light. Switch ignition locks. Lights stopped working while driving down street. Ignition when tring to start vehicle.

Bottom radiator hose chafing. We have two 2007 chevrolet colorado's as part of our fleet vehicles. Colorado #1 overheated and had to be towed due to a hole in the bottom radiator hose caused by constant rubbing against the frame rail. Colorado #2 bottom radiator hose was inspected and it also was damaged due to friction from the frame rail. Luckily we discovered the damage in time and had it replaced before it failed.

On several occasions the right headlamp has blown out. We have four 2007 colorados in our fleet and all have the same problem. These vehicles only haveapproximately 20,000 to 30,000 miles on them and the headlamps have been replaced four to five times in each vehicle.
I was involved in a rear impact crash due to the brake lights failing to illuminate.i had the brake lamps switch of my 2007 chevrolet colorado extended cab replaced per the manufacturer recall that was issued in 2010.however, the replacement that the dealership installed failed, causing the driver behind me to be unaware of my intention to stop, which caused that driver to crash in to the rear end of my vehicle.this issue was supposed to be corrected by the recall, but gm is obviously still using faulty parts.my accident did not result in injury or fatality, but other drivers may not be so lucky.
Brake lights and cruise control have always worked. Tuesday on the way to work brake lights stopped, cruise control stopped. I purchased truck brand new while living in al,it was built in louisiana and shipped from ga. I asked dealer to search for recalls, but nothing. Had brake switch replaced at $195.00. Every state i've registered vehicle in al,az and mn license bureau had problem finding vin in system.

Vehicle was taken in to replace recalled brake light switch.however, there still is no brake lights. All fuses have been checked.this is widespread known problem that should not fall on the owner to pay hundreds to the dealership just to diagnose the problem.
On my 2007 chevrolet colorado , the headlamps , brake lights , reverse lights , and fuseswill burn out at random . In roughly 6 week time , the dealership replaced 5 to 6 bulbs. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 4 times before i contacted chevrolet and they stated their is a underlying problem that is causing all these incident and that the engineers are working on it. They could not tell me when the problem be resolved. All they advised me is too keep contact with the dealership for updates. This problem is disabling my break lights, running lamps ,headlamps every 5-6 days. I obtained a gm engineering bulletin document id:1980024 (assuming not supposed to be leaked to the public) which states they have been aware of the problem since at least june 4 , 2007 and there still are not any resolutions. When i addressed thelegal issues (violating laws about vehicle equipment) and potential accidents (due to decreased visibility of my vehicle due to inoperative lights) , they replied that they do not deal with "what if" scenarios. I have severely limited my driving at night ,and the amount of service department trips are causing significant financial hardships due to missed work.

I have a 2007 chevrolet colorado pickup truck bought in georgia and i currently live in tennessee.i discovered upon entering my garage in the afternoon of 7/13/2009 that my brake lights were continuously illuminated and would not turn off despite repeatedly pressing them and turning the vehicle on and off.i was unsure over the source of this problem so i conducted a quick google search and found the news article regarding this particular issue encountered in my vehicle type fitting my exact description (campaign id 09v310000).i am very lucky that i know about vehicles, because at that point i was able to disconnect the defective parts power supply and not drain my battery until i could get to a dealership on july 14th.i arrived at the dealership and was treated very rudely, with the service department insisting that my vehicle was not part of a national recall.i showed them the article with the inclusion criteria, but was still not treated with any respect for my concern.this was a safety issue, and i was also lucky that my brake lights were illuminated at all (even if they were on at all times).i did some more investigation, and found the defective product in my brake pedal assembly.i disconnected it and brought it to the parts department to simply pay for a replacement product.again, luckily they had a replacement product i could purchase which i did and replaced it myself.the lights now work properly, despite the best efforts of my local chevrolet dealership.

I would like to alert you to a design flaw causing a very serious safety issue with the chevy colorado trucks.on the pre-dawn morning of may 9, 2013, i was driving my 15 miles to work when i began smelling a very strong raw gasoline odor in the cab.i pulled off the road and found gasoline dripping heavily between the cab and bed of the truck.i immediately shut down the truck and left it where it was.upon later examination, i found where the pressurized plastic fuel line had ruptured.the rupture was on the top of the plastic fuel line toward the front of the gas tank.over time, the plastic fuel line was rubbing against the top bed of the truck whenever the truck went over a bump.i have searched the internet and found other chevy colorado truck situations like this, some causing vehicle fires and personal burn injuries.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2007 chevrolet colorado caught on fire around gas tank while driving down the street. Pulled over and entire area around gas tank and part of cab engulfed in flames. Had to crawl out passenger side door. Burnt left arm and side of face. Fire dept came and put out fire. Was not the result of purchasing gas. Had 1/2 tank of gas when this took place. Don't know what started the fire. Insurance company investigating cause. Scary, don't want this to happen to anyone else. Will not ever purchase a small truck again.
Fuel leaking from top of fuel tank. Smelled gas while vehicle was parked. Observed fuel dripping from front of fuel tank. Appears to be leaking from top of tank and flowing off front of tank.

Upon inspection, i observed a stream of gas spraying from the metal elbow coming off the top of the fuel pump assembly, which connects to the fuel line. The vehicle was diagnosed but the repairs were unknown. The contact stated that the remedy did not resolve the failure. The contact also stated that the heating and cooling fan were fractured the fan was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

The contact mentioned that the seat belt failed to retract intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an auto part store for computer reading. I was in my vehicle was sitting at a complete stop, ignition on, engine running, transmission in park. I then heard an audible scratching plastic noise coming from the left lower rear extended cab door. I looked back to see what it was (saw nothing) and noticed when i turned back around my seat belt would not retract. I was then able to un-ravel all of the seat belt webbing feeling no retractor tension until it was fully extended. The seat belt will not retract back into the door / retractor to this day. I am the original owner of the vehicle (purchased new in late 2007) it has never been in an accident (major or minor), it is well cared for and not abused. I am forced to purchase a new seat belt / retractor for the vehicle. Safety restraints should last longer than 4~5 years especially not being shock loaded (in an accident). What if i was braking hard or coming into a collision, i would not be here to write this. I am an automotive engineer with over 10 years in the industry; most of which has been testing (some fmvss). It is of my opinion that this retractor / seatbelt has a serious manufacturing defect or design flaw and should be investigated.

Have been having issues with the abs brakes for the last five years on my 07 colorado. Told that the right sensor was bad and had replaced for $400. About a year later the abs warning would come on and go off all day. You could always hear the system make noise and you knew that the fault light would come on. Toop back to dealer, couldn't say what the problem was until it went out for good. Drove for about a year and had enough and just took it in to another dealer. The wiring harness for the abs had to be replaced. Cost $741 to replace. Original owner of this truck.see that i am not the only one with this problem with the abs.

Brake switch recall from 2011 still causing problems on same side/same brake light (drivers rear left) even after switch replaced after multiple trips to dealer.dealer/company (chevrolet) refuses to fix under originating recall issue.
Abs brake engaged on dry pavement stop and activated abs warning light. Abs warning light remained on whiledriving.hub and wheel sensor had to be replaced by chevrolet dealer. Cost $827.
On 10/10/2012 i was driving at 30 mph and went to brake for a car in front of me and the brakes just grabbed and released and i thought i was going to hit the car in front of me. I noticed the brakes grabbing and pulsating after that didn't know ifi was going o stop without hitting someone in another car or something also the abs fault light came on and off. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 10/15/2012 and the service advisor told me the right front speed sensor was bad and had to replace theright hub bearing & right front wheel speed sensor because the engineers at chevrolet designed it wrong and that they made a kit to repair the problem it cost 930.00 dollars in 2012. Now the left front brake is doing the same thing. Obviously there is a problem i have noticed other complains listed in the vehicle safety complaints just like mine i feel there should be a recall issued for this problem. Please investigate thank you

First thing in the morning when i pull out of my drive way and stop at the light when i hit my brakes they make a high pitch noise andgrab so hard that my truck loses control and i hit the dashboard. This has happened since i've had the truck. I bought it brand new. They told me the brakes needed adjusting so they did it but it has done it ever since. I've talked to other people and they all say the same thing. What can i do?is there a recall or have you heard about this problem from other people. I've got 41,000 miles and it has done it from about first month, but i've just lived with it but the other day i almost had a wreck.

The nuts were not tightened to the main body frame, there was a rattling noise coming from the engine, but the problem was never diagnosed, the front passenger side headlight cover had to be replaced, which the dealer stated the seal was missing, the rotors were warped and the brake pads were glazed and last, the transmission would shift harder than normal.
2007 chevrolet colorado with brake problems. Consumer states that the brakes lock or grab. He states that when they lock or grab he gets thrown forward toward the steering wheel and he feels this is unsafe.the consumer stated there was also a screeching sound. He believed the sound was an indication of friction between the front brake pads, discs , rear brake shoes and drums.
Abs warning light goes on and abs engages even at low speeds, very strange and possible dangerous situation.took vehicle to mechanic and he advised the design was terrible and could not replace the sensorbut rather had to replace the both front hubs that included a new sensor@$1300.gm should think about a redesign and/or recall to fix this problem.this is a potential safety issue.
The brakes began squealing at mainly low speeds so i took it to midas.they claimed chevy has some sort of defect because the rotors were pitted and damaged and it should not be with a vehicle with less than 35,000 miles.this vehicle is not used hard hence the mileage and it is 5 years old.they claimed that when they called the chevy dealer, chevy claimed that both rotors and hubs needed replaced on the model because this is a known issue with this model of truck.i had them replace everything which cost me around $1,300 dollars and now the abs default light will not go out.i have never owned a vehicle that needed this much work to the braking system and that cost this much to repair with less than 35,000 miles on it.this needs to be reviewed and if this is a defect that chevy is aware of, they need to both fix the problem and compensate individuals who have made this very expensive repair because this is wrong.i would appreciate if someone could look into this problem because i am not getting any satisfaction on this from anyone else.thank you

Vehicle sat idle for a few years before my ownership, then was in constant motion on highways and city streets for 2 years in my possession. Unsure how an 11 year old vehicle could have this happen, but at some point the vehicle developed 2 large cracks in the frame (one on the drive side and one of the passenger side, both just behind the doors of their respective sides of the vehicle) causing the bed of the truck to lean into the cab of the truck.pictures included in this post are of the bed leaning into the can, and one picture at the worst visible angle of the crack on each side of the vehicle's frame.

I own a 2007 chevy colorado. I am very careful when it comes to my vehicles maintenance and take all precautions. When it comes down to a simple routine such as tire rotation, as many americans with the know how do, i performed this myself. With a four way and a torsion bar set at the factory 100 lb setting. Before i even used the torsion bar, the wheel stud had broken with no more than 30lbs of pressure. I took my vehicle to a local gm dealer and was told it is not covered under my warranty. I argued that regardless of who had worked on it, the stud still would have broke. So now i am driving around with a missing stud and i am concerned about the safety of my vehicle. I believe that this is a poorly produced part and should be replaced by my factory warranty.

My 2007 chevroletcolorado will not start sometimes but if you go out 15 minutes later and try it start it will start. This is very annoying when i'm leaving work at 10 pm and i have to sit in a parking lot and wait. I would like to know what the problem is.

The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 22,000.

2007 chevrolet colorado.i am encountering a condition which was initially only very irritating but i now consider to be hazardous. The heater fan motor periodically stops working and after a few days will resume working. I have had a few occasions when i could not defrost my windshield in icing conditions. The fan motor quit and the windshield quickly frosted causing loss of visibility. On one occasion it was difficult to see well enough to bring the vehicle to the roadside (the date entered covers a few months).

Our department has 7 chevrolet colorado pickups, and on one of the 2007's the tire valve stems all broke off when our mechanics tried to remove the caps. The stems are remote transmitters for the low tire pressure warning light. The dealer told us this is a common problem, and the parts cost us $220.
