Dt*:the contact stated while driving the engine revs at all speeds.the vehicle has been to the dealership twice for repairs to the engine.they replaced the accelerator pedal and throttle body, but the problem still exists.additionally, the passenger side airbag light illuminated.although the dealer was alerted no appointment for inspection was made.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph he crashed into a vehicle that turned in front of his vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The police reported to the scene and a report was filed. The contact was suffering from neck pain after the crash but had not sought medical assistance. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000. Updated 11/15/13

Air bag warning light on dash is stuck on. No obd codes noted. Air bags are serious business and i think gm should fix at no cost!

I own a 2006 chevy colorado extended cab. The air bag readiness light stayed on after starting the vehicle. According to the manual, if the air bag readiness light stays on after you start the vehicle, it means the airbag is not in working order. The airbags may not inflate in a crash or they could inflate without a crash. This is a safety problem. I am concerned that the airbag would not deploy if involved in a crash. I am also concerned about having the air bag deploy under normal driving. There is a wiring harness that travels through the hinge of the rear door that appears to be a problem. The opening and closing of the rear doors has caused the wires to break. This rear door gets opened maybe 1 out of every 10 times the vehicle is entered/exited. Since the problem involves the airbags i thought it would be best to take it to the dealership for them to repair. Since there has not been an recall issued, i have had to pay for this myself.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the seat belt pre tensioner and a low voltage wire needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

"takata recall" and brakes

On friday, august 7th my husband pulled the truck into the driveway got out of the truck went into the garage and heard a loud popping sound.came outside and the airbag had deployed while it was just sitting in the driveway.this is a safety issue because could have occurred while he inside the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.the contact stated that the driver's side air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The failure recurred on ten occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 69,400 and the current mileage was 69,402.

Air bag lite keeps coming on and off while driving it started10/1/2019

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while parked, the airbag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the airbag sensor would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Prepared on behalf of my father, who is the primary driver. On 2/22/2014 it was noticed that the airbag warning lamp became illuminated. Dtc indicated concern in driver's seat belt pretensioner circuit. Additional diagnosis also identified that lh rear speaker was inoperative as well. Wiring harness was inspected, identified fractured wires within the conduit boot between lh rear access door and body. The access door on this vehicle is opened and closed approximately twice per day.basic online research identified many consumer complaints for this exact condition. Additional research through nhtsa consumer complaints identified a minimum of 15 unique complaints which identified wiring concerns, on extended cab vehicles between the access door and body, resulting in incapacitated srs systems. 10 of the 15 identified complaints specifically identify; broken, cut, or disconnected wiring failures.this failure occurs through normal operation of the vehicle. Please investigate the trend that is evident for this safety concern.

Airbag light goes off then comes on when going into reverse stays on for a while then goes off until going to reverse then comes on again

Upon startup the airbag system will go through a check and the airbag light will stay on if a fault is found. The opening and closing of the extended cab doors will over time cause the airbag wires to snap into or break causing the airbag warning light to stay on. The airbags may not deploy if there is an accident and people may not even know that with the airbag light being on if that means the airbag system is working properly or not at all.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the air bag wiring for the rear door failed and was causing the air bag warning light to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the air bag wiring harness was replaced. The contact was concerned that if involved in a crash, the air bags potentially would not deploy. The failure mileage was 47,207updated 04/07/11*lj

I own a 2006 chevy colorado extended cab. The wiring harness that controls the air bags, interior lights, and stereo speakers keeps breaking. I was told that it was a defect from the factory. The wires run between the cab and rear doors.i had it fixed under warranty in 2008 and again in 2009. My warranty expired right after the second fix. I have had to fix it myself twice since then. This is a safety issue since the air bags are inoperable when the wires break. I am sure there are several hundred of these trucks on the road with defective air bags since most people will not fix it. I would expect chevrolet to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles for this problem. I would also expect gm to correct the issue so it doesn't happen again.

Defective design of air bag sensor system.this system deactivates the frontal passenger airbag for passengers of less than a fixed weight, for the protection of small children.however, there is no manual override, and the system deactivates for teens and adults also, of at least 90 lbs. Weight.thus, there is no airbag protection for my wife, who weighs 90 lbs.her weight will not activate the airbag system, and there is no manual way to turn it on.this is a serious injury waiting to happen, for any small woman or adolescent or older child who wishes to use the front passenger seat: they have an airbag but it will not operate for them.i was told by the dealership that this new truck comes this way, and cannot be fixed.a call to chevrolet resulted in the same response. "the unit is up to design code - hence, there is no problem."there certainly is a problem.

2006 chevy colorado problems with airbags and engine stuttering. Consumer states that airbags sensor can not tell when his wife or daughter are in the passenger seat. He states that the engine stutters when the temperature is decreased.the consumer stated the air bag light did not turn on when the seat was occupied and sometimes the air bag indicator would suddenly show the passenger air bag was off. The consumer also stated on one occasion, the vehicle did not want to move; it went a very slow pace no matter how hard the accelerator was applied. The check engine light illuminated. The dealer stated they found a fuel injector leaking.

2006 chevrolet colorado. Consumer writes to decline repair procedure regarding the child seat tether, because he asserts the suggested method would damage the front seat assembly and provides no benefit *tgwrecall # 10v575000. Updated 03/10/11

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. In addition, the steering wheel seized. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 137,000.

This car has an inherant problem with it ignition safty module.know as pass lock security.this keep my car from starting.it an issue that 100,000 and more have suffered.it could happen while driving anytime making it lethal to passengers in the car.it is fixable but only at the dealer for hundreds and hundreds of dollars

After my vehicle gained 67xxx it began to have issues with the anti theft system. When i turn my vehicle off, and turn it back on the anti theft light blinks. This has stalled my vehicle. When i attempt to turn it on the engine will crank and the lights flicker on and off. After doing some research i have found that numerous people have also encountered this issue. The only fix know at the moment is to wait 10 minutes and then the engine will start. This can become a nuisance and a danger. I had recently encountered a nail in my tire. I had to pull over on the highway to check what was happening. When i shut my engine off i was stuck on the highway due to my anti theft light blinking and my engine not starting due to this anti theft issue. I have addressed this with gm and also the local dealer with no success for assistance. It was suggested that i do a diagnostics test, but that would run me upward of 400+ to figure out what is going on. I find this to be a manufacture issue. Numerous people have addressed this issue online.

The a/c blower motor stop running on speed selections 1,2 and 3. After a few seconds it starts running. On speed selection4 it runs ok. I was told the rheostat is faulty.

Fan control only works on fan speed 4.positions 1 thru 3 do not work.after research on internet found the information on the grounding block for the fan control circuit.checked the connector for this and found corrosion and slightly darkened connector due to heat buildup due to the corrosion.also you can get the fan control to work on all settings if you move the wires around on the connector so it makes good contact but this is only a temporary fix.this will be come worse as time goes by and if the heat buildup is high enough it could very possibly result in a fire in the cabin of the vehicle... There are a high number of complaints about this issue and this should be investigated for a possible recall.

Vehicle fails to start after shutoff. Passlock failure.happens regularly.

Went to turn on the cabin fan on speeds 1-3 and the fan would not turn on. Speed 4 (the fan has 4 speeds), the fan would come on. After giving the truck time to warm up, sometimes the fan would then turn run on the lower speeds. This happened a many times during the summer. Sometimes, even given 20 minutes of running the vehicle, the fan would not run on lower speeds. After a month or so without doing anything, the fan worked as expected. Lately the problem started to reappear, again, the fan would only run on high. Just like before, even given 20 minutes of run time, the fan would not run on lower speeds.the fix was two fold. The root cause of the issue was a bad grounding block, that then would cause a short in a wiring harness. The grounding connection for the fan, was secured. Second the wiring harness for the fan control along with a resistor had to be replaced.pictures of the burned resistor and wiring harness can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/imrambi/sets/72157622545918308/ . As shown, there is burnt plastic where the wiring harness connects to the resistor. The resistor is inside the cabin near carpet and other flammables and posses a fire hazard.updated 07/10/2012

Vehicle purchased new on 05/2006. Less than a month after purchase the vehicle would not start due to passlock system believing the car was in the process of becoming stolen. Owner would unlock vehicle with key fob and place key in ignition to start, but red lock icon on dashboard would blink and engine would not turn over. Original key and original key fob used at all times of occurrence. Owner would have to wait ten minutes and try again if vehicle would not start for passlock system to disengage. While under warranty, customer brought vehicle into gm dealer multiple times and the problem could not be verified. This left customer stranded in multiple locations at times and in situations that could have left owner in a dangerous situation based on area. At one point, customer could not start vehicle after a half hour, he than called gm and had the vehicle towed under warranty, the gm dealership stated problem was fixed or corrected. Now, no longer under warranty vehicle has same issue occurring intermittently. Cost to replace passlock sensor is too costly for owner to afford. Other vehicle maintenance is properly done according to owner's manual by local mechanic. Owner has uploaded video of issue experiencing; please visit youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfdjho_hiy4&feature=youtu.be.

2006 colorado will not start, fan only works on high speed, all exterior light failed at same time, all stereo components have gone out, driver information system was faulty and replaced, instrument cluster randomly not working. Abs light randomly coming on. These are all of the major problems that have been occurring with this truck. The non-starting is the ignition housing module, that gm is aware is a problem. I have tried many many times to express these problems to gm. They tell me they are unrelated as they are electrical components for different areas of the vehicle. My response has been they are all electrical components of the same vehicle. I have read a lot of on line complaints and they all seem to be the same problems. Gm needs to be a stand up company, and stand behind their product like they keep telling me they do. These problems are occurring some much now my truck will be in the shop twice this month for different electrical repairs. Both repairs bills being in excess of $300.00 - $500.00. It is very dangerous to have this vehicle just die in interstate traffic.

This vehicle has an intermittent crank no start issues, as i have researched these vehicles have problems with a security system known as passlock, as i see there is known issues with this faulty system, you attempt to start it, but it only will crank not start. The only thing you can do is turn the ignition key to the on position for at least 10 minutes and let the security re-learn codes before you can start the truck. I think g.m. Should be forced to fix there known problems with this, as it could be dangerous based on a situation where you need to move your vehicle in case of an emergency and it wont start.

The back lighting of the instrument panel just failed. No intermittent failure, one second it was working the next it did not. All instruments within the instrument panel appear to still be working, but you cannot read the instrument cluster at night, which makes it impossible to determine speed. The dealer checked it out and determined that this failure was common in this model, and that the entire instrument panel ($$$) has to be replaced (you can't just replace light bulbs). This is a manufacturing defect the dealer refuses to repair under warranty.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that when the ignition switch was turned into the on position, the vehicle would make an igniting noise but would not start. The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted over to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the ignition switch was replaced. In addition, the passenger seat belt warning light would remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Truck will just shut off and not crank. Passlock module will not let it crank. Around every 100 cranks it will shut engine off and not let it crank. I have done research and numerous people have had this problem with these truck and chevrolet company will not do anything about this. This is dangerous it has even shut off while driving vehicle. Can you please make them fix this on these trucks.

Power windows loss power, including driver and passenger windows.wiring problem exists.ken dixon, the dealer in waldorf, md repaired problem on january 21, 2013 at a cost of $300 under so# 243247. But the same problem reoccurred in early feb 2016 and the dealer refused to repair the problem without costs to the customer. The vehicle wasstationary.the problem mirrors recall of the same make and model under nhtsa's campaign #14v404.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the rear brake lights failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the rear brake lights had been replaced eight times by phil smith chevrolet (1640 north state road 7, lauderhill, fl 33313). The dealer refused to repair the vehicle again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired elsewhere. The approximate failure mileage was 134,074.

On occasion, my vehicle will not start.it appears that the anti-theft system comes on and will not allow the vehicle to start.letting the vehicle sit for ten minutes tends to fix the problem.my vehicle has approximately 65k miles and this occurs roughly six times a year.when the dealer tries to identify the problem, they cannot find anything wrong with it.

The blower motor started to only work on the high setting, 4, all other settings, 1,2,3, were not working,i thought the blower control switch may have been bad. I checked with the dealer, the part to replace the switch is the whole control panel, $200. I wanted to make sure that was the problem before spending the money. I checked on the internet and found this is a common problem with colorado's. It turns out that the blower motor resistor block and connector are suspect. I did in fact check this out and found evidence of over heating on the connector. I can get the fan control to work properly by moving the wires on the connector to the resistor block. I think this is a safety concern due to the fact that others have reported the connector actually being melted from over heating. Gm does not have any service bulletins or recalls out for this issue.on the internet search there was additional information concerning the grounding block in the engine compartment that has led to several electrical problems. I also found my grounding block to have had some corrosion build up that may have caused problems with my electrical system. My passenger side power window was intermittent. I cleaned the corrosion on the grounding block and everything is working properly.

I was driving home from work during the night-time hours and both headlights quit working.now, the left headlight continues to go out but i can touch it and it will come on.i have replaced the light several times and nothing works.also, 1 week ago, the abs failure message appeared.there are multiple complaints with this problem and frankly, both of my issues are safety concerns.gm has installed defective parts as usual and now the customers are bearing the cost of repairing their failures.these are safety concerns that need to be recalled.i have recently had the intake valve seats replaced because of a gm defective part. This abs failure concern is my number 1 concern as i have very small children.

Truck shuts off while driving. Pass lock faults out. I was taking a turn the other day while driving 40 miles per hour when my truck died. This is the third time its happened.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the abs and traction control lights illuminated, the left turn signal failed intermittently and the heater blower switch only work on the fourth setting. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000 and the current mileage was approximately 44,000.

Vehicle air blower fan for heat/air conditioner periodically stops working on settings 1,2,and 3. Fan continues to work on setting 4.

Gm passlock system in my 2006 chevy colorado fails daily leaving me stranded for 10-15 minutes until it resets itself. If engine stalls in a turn lane, it creates a hazardous situation.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start.the failure recurred on several occasions.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the ignition switch on four different occasions.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The passlock system has become more of an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start almost two to three times a week. Not only does this come at the most un-opportune time after 10 minutes or more to wait for the system to reset.after reading this post, i see that i am not the only one with this problem. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes sometimes to get the truck started again. His has become more of a problem.so far there has not been a dangerous situation where this problem has happened. But it gets to a point that your afraid to turn the engine off, for fear of being stranded somewhere.the truck had been to the dealer many times for this problem they were unable to fine out what was wrong.they replacedthe ignition switch, inside the steering column and the problem stopped. The fuel pump on the vehicle failed and the vehicle was leaking gas and that had to be replaced and the vent valve on the gas tank just failed and had to be replaced (76,000 miles).thank you for your consideration.

My brake lights all went out at the same time.i was driving on the interstate and had to stop suddenly.the tractor trailer behind me nearly rear ended me. The cruise control also went out. I had this issue repaired under recall number 06030 five years ago.it is identically the same, yet chevrolet says they will not repair it due to mileage and vehicle age.this is extremely dangerous.

Passlock feature engages and the engine will not start.engine turns over but this feature blocks fuel from allowing engine to fire.this has occurred several times out of the blue.i turn the vehicle off while getting gas and it won't start, passlock has struck!

The passlock system has become more of an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start almost two to three times a week. Not only does this come at the most un-opportune time but now happens more often when i have less than a half tank of gas. When i put gas in, this does not happen as much.after 10 minutes or more to wait for the system to reset. Sometimes the lock light stays on after i start the car. My mechanic has had the truck in 4 times and has not been able to find what is wrong. After reading this post, i see that i am not the only one with this problem. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes sometimes to get the truck started again. His has become more of a problem. I have not have any other major problems and have over 90,000 miles.so far there has not been a dangerous situation where this problem has happened. But it gets to a point that your afraid to turn the engine off. Thank you for your time. Updated1/23/2015

The passlock system is an issue with this vehicle. The vehicle will not start on occasion, or in my case several occasions.not only is it inconvenient, but i ask, what has happened to people who have stalled with this vehicle at stop lights or in other situations?i live in an area where the weather can drop to -30 (f).10 minutes to wait for the system to reset can have detrimental effects. How many fatalities and injuries will it take before gm and the nhtsa act?this is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed.our tax dollars bailed out gm, i expect a product that will not put me in a dangerous situation.thank you for your time.

I purchased this vehicle new, and for too much information the vehicle is a piece of junk. About a couple of months ago i unlock my vehicle using the remote opener. Get in the vehicle, put key in ignition, try and start vehicle. Vehicle will not start, the engine will turn over, but will not start. I noticed during this time, will trying to get vehicle to start, that the anti-theft lock light has lit up on dash board. To no avail the vehicle would not start. At this time i was not aware of any problems with vehicle, so i think here we go another trip to the dealer to get piece of junk fixed. After i hitch a ride home, i search the web for any reasons vehicle will not start. I found articles from individuals who also had this same problem. I learned from one that for some reason the vehicle's anti-theft system thinks you are trying to steal your own vehicle. I also learned that if you wait 10 minutes after your first failed attempt at starting vehicle the anti-theft would reset itself and vehicle would start. Try to start the vehicle the next morning, and it starts. I think okay i will stop using remote and not lock vehicle, see if this stops problem. It does not. I get in vehicle about 2 days ago and again the engine will turn over, but will not start. There is the anti-theft light lit up on dash board again. This time i wait 10 minutes and the vehicle will start. I have called the dealer and gm, from both i hear there is no solution. Can't by-pass the anti-theft, and for service dept. To find problem, vehicle has to experience same problem at the time of repair. Since the problem is intermittent, a solution is unlikely. There appears to be a problem with this type vehicle, built around the time frame as the purchase of the one i bought. Gm should be made to find a solution. I do not like being stranded, and selling the product to someone else is not an option.

Once started once in awhile is happening more ofter i park my car at work supermarket etc and the car will not start i believe its the theft protection the lock light goes on and i need to wait 10 to 15 mins before the car will start again just tonight i was going home from workstop to get gas and had to wait again before the car started and just a few days ago last sun i had the same problem at the store and i hope it starts before the food goes bad been luckyit least 10 minand the most up to 20 min i got a recall letter and wonder if thatwas the problem thanks for ur time.

As i see i am one of may people with this issue, i am having almost daily problems with the passlock/no start for the past few weeks.this happened one other time back in june 2012 but has not done so since.then about 3 weeks ago, it started doing it daily.i attempt to start it (whether it has been sitting for hours or only a few mins), but it only will crank not start. I have to sit in the truck for about 10 mins with the key turned to the on position and then it will start.this is ridiculous.with so many people having this problem, gm should be forced to put out on recall on the passlock/security and fix these known problems!! this could be very dangerous if something were to happen where you need to move your vehicle in case of an emergency and it won't start.

The vehicle will not start.the engine turns over however the vehicle will not start.after fifteen to twenty minutes the vehicle starts.today my 17 year old daughter is at a friends house some distance away and the vehicle will not start.i have taken the vehicle to my mechanic and have discovered that this is a known issue with this vehicle.i am surprised that there has notbeen a recall for the ignition switch by chevrolet.i would like to know what if any options i have other than to take my vehicle back to a chevrolet dealer and have them install and re-program the computer system to the new ignition system which by the way per all of the similar complaints i have recently found on the internet is definitely defective. I am also wondering if this is the prelude to the current ignition problem the g.m refused to recognize after numerous complaints that unfortunately ended in causing numerous accidents and truly unfortunate deaths which all were uncalled for.i have researched my vehicle on the internet and have found no recall other than that of a child car seat issue which does not apply to my vehicle as i have two fold down seats in the xtra cab.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that he turned the key and the engine would not start but when he released the key, the vehicle started independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection however, the technicians did not locate a failure within the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Driving on us 441 engine shut off and the pass lock light came on. Had to steer off of road with no power. Restarted after stopped and happened again coming back up mountain but no where to pull off road nearly hit by another car. Dealer says thisis a security system tied to the ignition switch and fuel when the car is started but shouldn't shut off fuel while driving. Admitted this is a common problem they experience though. If the pass lock system fails to work as designed and shuts off the fuel supply to the engine while driving it's very dangerous. Should be a recall to replace the security system with a system that works as designed.

Intermittent no starts after driving and stopping for 30 min. Or so eventually re starts after several attemptshas occurred 6x in 36,000 miles.

Went to dealership in san angelo tx, did diagnostic for engine light being on dealership said problem was p0017 (cam actuator) did not have the money to fix it at the time dealership said it would be ok to drive it as is. Did research online and looked it up on book at auto parts store and p0017 says this "crankshaft position camshaft position correlation - bank 1 sensor b" what ever that means.but now i have major problems i still have that and a few more codes i have p0014 exhaust camshaft position timing over - advanced (bank 1), and p0300 random misfire detected.

My chevy colorado has the same electrical problems that i have been hearing about. The dealer can not find the problem as it is intermittent.you never know when it will happen, but the motor will not start.i have changed the start relay, and run relay., but that does not help after sitting awhile it will start. It is dangerous as you could be anywhere when this happens. Also at any time the abs warning light comes on for no reason, and then goes away.i wanted a truck that i could trust.it looks like a will never buy a chevy again unless i get this resolved.

No brake lights. Fuse is not blown.

Pass lock security system.while driving my vehicle the pass lock security system shut my vehicle down late at night around 11pm.i was stranded the truck would not start because the lock was showing on the dash gauges.i recently had major open heart surgery and i am 62 years old.i was stuck all night long out in the country here in north central florida and this is bear country here.i had to walk about 8 miles the next morning as there arent many people driving out here that time of day.i thought i was going to die out there in the woods.i was scared to death.i dont carry all my heart medecine with me as i thought i would be gone from home maybe an hour or two at the most.this vehicle has not been able to be started for about 2 months because of this security system.it cost me a fortune to have it towed the next day $250 and have had 3 chevy mechanics with their diagnostic machines tell me nothing wrong with vehicle except pass lock system and it could not be reset by them,at a cost of $125 each.now the dealer says tow it to them and they will put their computer on it to for $125 but wont guarantee they can reset it either.i will never buy a nother chevy product ever again or any vehicle with this type of security system on it.i just thank god i was alright after all this crap happened to me.

Some times the truck will not start for ten min. I have had the truck 3 times stop running and had to coast off the road. It restarted after sitting without repair.

06 chevy colorado vehicle fails to start after shutoff. Passlock failure. Happens regularly.stopped to fix a tire on the side of the road after changing the tire it would not start. 4am on the side of the road having to wait 10 mins till it rest so i could start it. Happens all the time.

Firstly the passlock system is a huge issue,if the parts in the system ignition system break down or trip you can be stuck high and dry on a whim.passlock system is prime reason for my worries when driving my truck will cut fuel out and shut down and stall when i'm driving or need to start up my truck again also the blower resistor and cable are faulty as are other electrical systems but the blower motor resistor is outright a fire hazard that can melt or burn out. Gm needs to stop (#ing) around with passlock system and other issues i will not be driving or owning another gm in my lifetime after my troubles with this passlock system nobody should be having to deal with this problem 3rd party or have repeated service or parts installed to silence this issue for a time. Just think of having been stuck high and dry threw not fault of your own outside the passlock system there are quite a few very very negative problems many have had with these 2 systems above i would love gm to pay me for missed work days and personal expenses for having had to fix mend and make this system work as i stright up bought a new ecm/pcm tuned it removed passlock because the risk and issues were to great nobody needs this problem hanging over their heads this issue pisses me off as i'd spent days doing relearn procedures 40 min per procedure several times until one stuck as per instructions gm wont even respond or not (x) this up if you need service too i will not be owning any more gm or chevy again. If you need to fix this system just remove it. So sad dealers are greedy and gm is too rather then make things right with long standing issues and complaints passlock system and blower motor and a few other things need recalls no ifs ands or butts this is exactly how you will go bankrupt again (@)ing customers who paid for your broken sales pitch to buy your snake oil*parts of this document have been redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*

I am going to get gas and go in side to pay and it wont start cranks no advisei had the same 5 times before the midway chevrolet fix it a bad ignition switchpart #63779o a bill for the parts $416.74 the theft system would work and it would stop working it is a switch for the gasi think i need to be pay back.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start until after waiting ten minutes. The failure was related to the faulty pass lock cylinder. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

2006 chevy colorado will not start with proper key.when attempting to start vehicle, ignition switch malfunctions and will make anti theft system think vehicle is being stolen. Proper key is being used and spare key has been used to verify problem. Have researched internet and lot of the chevy colorado's are having the same problem new or not. Gm wants $400 to fix a clearly faulty part.

Truck misfiring on all cylinders since around june 2007.check engine light on some, off some.june 19 dealer said misfiring on all cylinders and they were stumped.they first guessed bad gasoline then said computer needed reconfiguring. Still misfiring when i left shop.on july 19 returned to dealer. They said it was a gm problem that gm was aware of...possibly crankshaft sensor and for me to come back in two weeks.on aug 18 i took truck back to dealer after engine quit in a rolling turn in middle of intersection.dealer replaced fuel pump and spark plugs and said they thought water was in fuel.don't go back to same gas stations they said.i haven't.truck still was misfiring when i left.on 9-26 i went back to dealer.truck engine shut off while i was doing 70mph down busy interstate.made it to side of road, restarted and continued on my way.dealer said it was computer loosing communications internally and had clogged fuel injectors. Left dealer and truck still misfiring.drove it for a day or two and when friend who went to lunch with me wondered if we were going to make it back from lunch i decided to call dealer.called dealer and was told it was a software problem and that gm is working on it.groan!truck is almost out of warranty and i am wondering when next time engine will quit running and under what driving conditions. Thanks....roger dowdy

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and shut off without warning. The contact called for assistance and had the vehicle towed to her residence. The vehicle restarted the next day. The failure recurred and the vehicle restarted after a couple of minutes. The failure recurred several more times and the vehicle restarted each time. The contact called tom gibbs chevrolet at 386-206-8097 (located at 5850 e, fl-100, palm coast, fl 32164) and scheduled a diagnostic appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

Will not start,to hot to start!!!!!

Have experienced problems with my truck's pass lock/anti-theft switch.the truck will not start and it takes ten minutes before the truck restarts.i had only about 22,000 miles on the truck when the problem first occurred.this issue continuesto be a problem.the truck on has 26,000 miles.this problem could easily become a safety issue if truck shuts off in traffic.there should be a recall.does someone have to die before a recall to happen?

I could have written this complaint six months ago, because this problem has been going on for at least a year and is now becoming more frequent.my 2006 chevrolet colorado will turn over but will not crank.i wait exactly 10 minutes and then it will start.this is now happening about twice a week. When i've taken it to the dealer at least three times, the dealer could not replicate the problem.on the third time i had it at the dealer, i went to pick up the truck after being told, once again, that they could find nothing wrong; when i tried to start it, the same thing happened. By the time they rolled the computer to it, the 10 minutes had passed and they, again, could find nothing wrong.this is very frustrating and stressful because the truck is fairly new and has been well taken care of, but i can't depend on it to start. I know other colorado owners are having the same problem.i would really like to have a solution.

My 2006 chevrolet colorado has been at the two different dealerships and the problem is occurring. Problem, is that the motor will turn over but will not start. After 10 minutes the vehicle will turn over and then start. Since the dealer can't replicate no error codes are reported when connected to the computer. This happens intermittently.

The a/c heating fan blower does not work on speeds 1,2, or 3, only on speed 4. After doing some research, i found it is related to the fan resistor burning up. I inspected my truck and found the same problem. The plastic is burnt and has started to melt. This can cause a fire in the cab and be vary dangerous. There are numerous complaints here, so i feel this should be investigated.

Blower motor on my 2006chevroletcoloradoquit working except for the high position.leaving the fan in the high position too long will cause the fan to quit working and then there is no a/c , heater or defogger that will work when needed.i took it to the dealer who told me that he knows what the problem may be, a relay or the wiring harness. At a cost of 328.00.he told me off the record if i wiggle the wiring harness it may work for a while since the harness most likelywas incorrectly routed..i have talked to many colorado and gmc canyon ownersboth in person and on internet forums who reported that they are having the same exact problem.this issue could be a safety issue especially in the winter time when the defogger is really needed to keep the windows clear for safe driving.i initially thought that it was just a simple burned out motor , and i would just need to replace it.but since what i was told from the dealer service writer, and what others have said in the forums, i would be wasting money especially is it is from a bad wiring harness. I think gm should look into this and makeneeded repairs.

Fire in the engine wiring, fuse box, battery store parking lotparked engine off gmc took truck said it wasn't a factory issue no information was given to me said it was confidentual had truck 6 weeks

Brake lamps blow our regularly every week or two; blower motor quits intermittently due to rusted corroded connector;instrument panel fails intermittently, nothing works (gauges, lamps, odometer) but engine runs.brake issue has persisted now for two years.blower started in early 09 and instrument panel just started oct 09.

The ignition system fail and don't let the car start even we the original key and don't let start the auto for 10 minutes and so on and this is happening to every colorado owner that i now.

2006 chevrolet colorado - 4 door - 5 cylinder engine - 4 wheel drive truck has shut down while driving it with no warning.this has happened 5-6 times.dealer cannot find problem as it is always running when they get it.it has been towed to the dealer once.this problem is extremely dangerous as there is no warning.the engine just quits.once the engine quits and you get the truck off the road, you simply cut the key off and restart the truck.one time i could not get it to run again and it had to be towed.i cannot begin to tell you how scary this is when you are in traffic and have no place to go.the dealer tells me to keep driving the vehicle as the computer shows no problems.

Passlock truck willnot start only sitting for fifteen minutes ,had it replaced once 12/27/2013 now its doing it again i need this truck because my wife is verry sick but i cant depend on itit has under 34,000 miles on it.

Truck electrical cuts off while driving. Instrument panel and radio. Vehicle engine and headlights keep running

Blower control failure, intermittent. Failure of the controls in the first three levels and at times all levels of the control resulting failure does not allow the windshield to defrost or clear in inclimate weather. Full function may return upon restarting the engine.

Pass lock anti theft system intermittently engages, preventing the vehicle from restarting for a period of 10 minutes. This problem is a safety issue if the vehicle were to stall while operating on a freeway or major highway and can not be restarted.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and the pass lock and battery warning indicators illuminated. After the pass lock reset, it took several attempts for the vehicle to restart. The dealer stated that the crank sensor and ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Truck enters padlock mode have to wait the 10 minutes then try again , a few times it did it again- now 20 minutes gone. Lately this is happening once a day. This happens when parked.

After about 2 years after we had the truck serviced for valve system issue which we were notified about via mail. We began having these starting issues that many of you are also describing. We took it back to dealer as it was still under warranty. We were told they needed to do a complete diagnostic on it which we could not afford. We purchased the truck in 2007 with 25000 miles and full warrantee. But diagnostics isn't part of that. So we have only recently began investigating tis issue more in depth, as we were told it was probably an intake issue or and exhaust issue. Only now are we seeing that it may be due to this passlock securityissue that many of you are also mentioning. Over the years we also have experienced the same identical symptoms with cranking yet no actual start. Wait approximately ten minutes and she fires. It happened randomly at first. Then became more frequent. After fueling up etc. But not immediately after fueling. Now it has become almost a weekly occurrence. And the duration for wait time is lengthening to 20min-1/2 hr. All this time i allowed myself to believe it was something with the fuel system.... If this is a common problem....others need to be made aware as well. Is this a defect that was overlooked or blatantly ignored and not shared with the consumers? it does pose to be very unsafe in multiple circumstances. If this is an known issue, then why are we having to learn about it from one owner to another. Because no mechanics (dealership or other wise) has ever mentioned this as a potential issue.... Always the same story. Must be a different issue... Etc. But to realize it is a security feature gone whacky..... I don't know how any of you feel.... That doesn't make me feel safe. Thank you all for all your help and information.... Thank you ever so much.

This at times wont start then it will when it sits some one being followed is beput in danger if the wont start to get out of a dangeruos situaion.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning and failed to restart. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 24,306.

I try to crank the truck and it won't do anythingbut ican wait about 15 minutes and try it again and it will crank. This has been going on for about 5 years. Vehicle was stationary.

While in motion, anti-theft light flashes on dashboard and vehicle engine cuts off. Must shift to neutral and restart engine. Very dangerous. Same issue that affected other gm cars, that were recalled.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While the vehicle was parked, the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the valve seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving 22 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was not able to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,500.

On july 1, 2018, my son was driving his 2006 chevy colorado on the freeway when it combusted in the front driver's side engine area. Thankfully, he was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed! the pickup burned entirely, very hot and very quick. See attached photos. I did contact gm, as i see there have been many claims of fire in these vehicles. However, gm was unwilling to put effort into trying to determine the cause of this fire that endangered my sons life!! i have received no answers, no compassion, no follow through. It is beyond disappointing for a company such as general motors to not be doing a better job for their consumers.

2006 chevrolet colorado purchased new on 11/30/05.on may 27,2013 service engine soon(ses) came on and stayed on.took truck to chevrolet dealership and diagnostic code revealed an engine misfire.they turned light off, test drove, light did not come back on and sent me on my way.june 17 2013 ses light came back on.took back to dealership, they performed a "leak down test" that showed multiple misfires in engine, a $4000 repair.contacted gm and was told they had sent a letter to colorado owners dated 8/2007 warning them this problem might occur and gm would extend the warranty to 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first to cover the problem.however, the letter also said not to take the truck for the fix if owner was not having the misfire problem.i never got such a letter-don't know why.i could not fix a problem i did not know i had!by the time my misfire problem occurred it was about 6 mths.out of the extended 7 year warranty but well under the 100,000 miles. Told all this to gm but they said "tuff".in my mind, by extending the warranty and even developing a special tool to help dealerships reduce labor costs, gm is acknowledging the defect in the factory built cylinder head.gm says the only way to fix the misfire is to replace the cylinder head and it's integral parts, again a $4000 repair. Even a cursory search on the internet shows thousands of colorado owners with the same problem.this has to be a factory defect.

Engine had a misfire and would stall sometimes when you made a tight turn at low speeds. Found out it had a bad value seat causing it to have the misfire. Gm messed around and wouldn't fix it. Red other people had bad value seats too. Spent my own money to get it fixed.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact was driving 60 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and took it to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the intake boot hose, cam shaft sensor, fuel cap, crank shaft sensor, water pump, manifold pressure, and thermostat needed repairing. The components were repaired but the failure was not corrected. No further repairs were made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 109,171.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated, sputtered, and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the exhaust valve to the cylinder heads and the cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 109,000.

While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled and the check engine and power reduced lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.when idling or driving 20 mph, the engine rpm's increase.the dealer stated that the vehicle was designed that way for better emission.the manufacturer stated that the idling could not be corrected.the current mileage was 4,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

After several weeks of check engine light going on and off i decided to have the truck checked out.after dealer ran history, stated that i needed to bring truck in for a head issue.after having the truck for three days, dealer notified me that they put engine back together and got it fired but was losing compression on the #1 cylinder.then the engine was making very loud noises.after tearing engine back down, then noticed the exhaust valve was stuck in the down position, while the piston was going in the up position, it broke the piston in pieces and broke the valve.the dealer contacted gm as to what to do.gm is sending a new engine to replace the blown engine.there is only 25,000 miles on the truck.

Vehicle will crank and not start, check engine does not come on. Wait 10 minutes and truck will start. Happens up to once a week, random. Took it to the dealership , replaced element, installed fuel system power pack, injection system clean and replaced air filter. That was in 2010, truck was under warranty but did not cover this work, did not fix the problem. Truck is no longer under warranty and still having the same problem.never know when it will happen.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While the contact was driving approximately 5 mph into an intersection, the engine stalled with the illumination of the warning indicator. There were several attempts before the engine restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who recommended the vehicle be diagnosed by the dealer. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where they stated to the contact that the timing chain, engine cylinder and head gasket would needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and they offered a ten percent discount towards the repair. The vehicle had not been repaired.the failure mileage was 93,000. Updated 04/11/12*ljthe consumer had to pay for the repairs at her expense.updated 04/20/12

I bought this pick up truck from local dealer 2010.it stared making trouble very early days, shaking and misfiring, engine check light showed up,i took to local auto shops and they told me it has a major engine problem by the manufacture(chevy)and misfiring the engine and showing an internal leak, causing all problem,i spend a lot of money but not able to fix,it was failing on smog test as well.finally i took to local chevy dealer, they asked me to pay $150.for diagnose,i agreed to pay..fortunately dealer found in the system that this model truck is in the list of engine trouble, all the symptoms my truck was showing, but gm never send me recall notice,i could have killed by big accident as it was stalling on the freeway with lot of problem...gm mislead me and covered this defected truck and model, and i am sure there are many others like me..pl investigate this issue and update me......[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately between 10-15 mph, the engine completely stalled due to electrical failure. The engine restarted after the contact waited five to ten minutes. The failure occurred four different times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a diagnostic testing was performed twice which detected no trouble codes. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 48,500.

I have a 2006 chevy colorado with about 61,000 miles. I have recently had it to fail n.c. Inspection due to dtc p0017. I have spent roughly $400 between sensors/valves and diagnoses for this truck. I see there are numerous tsb's for this model and dtc p0017 being a couple of them. We are struggling trying to get this taken care of and would like to file a complaint because we believe this is a defect due to the recurring problem people are having with this dtc code. There should be a recall. Please do something about this, so other people won't have to drain their bank accounts for a defective vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to decelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the mechanic advised that the engine would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 6,999.

I bought this truck a little over 2 months ago. Since purchasing the truck the check engine light came on, i had to have the gas tank float/fuel sending unit replaced, i had to have the ac repaired because the ac would turn on and then constantly turn on and off at first and then it stopped working all together, i had to have transmission seal replaced because it started leaking, and now i have this awful vibration when i accelerate and i have to keep the window cracked open because the sound of the vibration inside the truck is so loud it makes me feel like my head is going to explode. I was not made aware of any problems with this truck as a matter of fact the dealer told me the truck had just been serviced, the oil was changed and there were no problems with the truck. I realize that i bought a used vehicle and it's not going to be in perfect brand new condition but this is ridiculous so now i am stuck with a truck that has many problems that chevrolet has been obviously aware of since the beginning and i am out the money i paid for the truck. I can't afford to spend all this money to keep fixing this truck just for something else to have to be fixed. I was told that i don't have grounds to file a complaint based on the lemon law and the dealer won't let me trade this truck for something else or fix the problems so i'm stuck.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.the contact stated that the engine was a 4 cylinder 2.8 engine and would cause the vehicle to drive abnormally. The contact stated that the number 4 valve was sticking.the dealer diagnosed that the engine would need replacing.the engine was replaced by the dealer numerous times, but the failure continuosuly recurred.the dealer also rebuilt the transmission, but the contact was uncertain if the failure was directly related to the engine failure.the manufacturer was contacted, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the failure mileage was 160,000 and the current mileage was 200,000. The vin was unavailable.

While driving our 2006 colorado truck, the engine quit running placing us in danger from the vehicles near us. This has happened three times. We were able to navigate to a safe zone. The engine started and we continued our trip.we are concerned that we may be injured or killed. We are notdriving the truck until it is fixed.

The contact stated that the vehicle started driving very rough and resistant to acceleration. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised the contact that the cam shaft position actuator solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and the current mileages were 60,000.

I have a chevy 2006 colorado this will be the six time that i that the truck to the dealer to have the rear brake lights fix they all go out together theirs have been some times that we had close call that we didn't get hit by the rear end it has been real scary at those times.

Truck will go into reduced power mode while driving. When it does this it will chime a few times and then drop the speed you are driving at to whatever it wants usually it's 40 to 20 mph, you cannot go any faster, and there is no warning to this at all, and no pattern as to when it will do this. But it has always done it while i have been driving. This is not the first time that this has happened and luckily no one hit me that was behind me.i have had my truck into a dealership five times, the first two times was to mills in richwood, which they had no idea what to do with the truck as the engine wasn't throwing a code, and they thought it was a bad sensor but didn't know which one so they sent me on my way. The third and fourth time i took it to roby's. The third time they replaced the battery and said that was it, the fourth time they called gmc and said my engine needed a new code in it. Two weeks after that the reduced power light comes on and i almost get killed on the freeway. I then took it to chesrown and they replaced a sensor in the accelerator pedal. No one knows what the problem really is and i'm scared to death i'm going to get killed because my truck does this all the time without warning and the problem is getting worse as before it would be almost half a year to a few months between problems, now it's getting to be every couple of weeks. This has been going on since i bought the truck in may 2006 and i am terrified to drive for fear that the reduce power is going to kick in and someone will be behind me when it happens and hit me and kill me.

2006 chevrolet colorado has a known defect with the camshaft actuator solenoid filtering screens dislodging from the part, that causes the engine timing to be affected and makes the engine idle rough and stall. This can create an incident or accident if the involved vehicle is in operation at the time of failure.

Power reduced warning and engine light comes on, can't accelerate above 50 mph.dealer is currently working on problem for the fourth time. Unable to correctly repair or find problem. Very rude treatment from dealer. Updated 09/18/07

Like all the other reports and complaints i have read online about this type of vehicle. I have the same problem with my 2006 chevy colorado.i boughtthe truck 4 years ago almost brand new and i'm still paying for it but can't move it because it would not pass the state emissions test. I have spent about $1,000 trying to fix my truck, buying parts and replacing them because the check engine light came on. At the end i was told it had several misfires and had to do with the camshaftsolenoid position. The truck would come to a complete stop while going to an intersection or a stop sign . I was told and also read that my only solution to fix this problem is to put inanother engine but with time the same problem will come back. Iguess this problem should be handled by the manufacturer and they're the ones who need to either fix them, give us our money back or something. Is not fair that we as consumers have to pay for something they did wrong. Now my truck is just standing there not able to drive it around and meanwhile i have to use someone else vehicle to move around or go to work.

Vehicle air blower fan for heat/air conditioner periodically stops working on settings 1,2,and 3. Fan continues to work on setting 4appears to be a problem with this model. They have a new harness but you have to pay for it, no recall. They would not make a new harness unless they know there is a problem with the old one.

Check engine light has come on due to several misfires. Got this checked out at the dealership and they said this was a common issue with this model vehicle and that i needed to replace the cylinder head as the manufacturer created a faulty seal for these engines and they tend to leak at idle. This fix was quoted at 3000 dollars. I checked around and found a bulletin released by chevrolet stating how they knew about the issue and basically saying how to fix it. Basically chevrolet owns up to this being their mistake but is unwilling to help out the vehicle owners. They want us to pay 3000 to fix a vehicle that is suffering from their mistake. Chevrolet should be willing to count their losses and help out owners with this issue.

Vehicle experiences engine miss fire code that causes check engine light to come on. Symptoms started at 45,000 miles. Dealer reset computer first time with no repairs needed. Computer showed multiple miss fires the second time. Dealer stated this is common with high mileage colorados due to carbon build up on valves. Dealer did check to ensure there was not a bad coil. Suggested using lucas fuel treatment. Did help rough idle and power. I was told next step will be to replace the head.

2006 chevy colorado 4 cyl. 2.3lcamshaft position actuator went bad at 68,000 miles causing rough idle, some stalling, and loss of power.originally changed camshaft solenoid due to missing screen.problem came back immediately, dealer tore apart engine and said the actual camshaft actuator needed replaced.cost $1200.truck was bought brand new, and serviced on schedule.have been told this is a common problem for the colorados, and must be because there is even a technical service bulletin about it.gm refuses to pay for it unless still under bumper to bumper warranty, which for my year expires at 36,000 miles or 3 years.at 67,000 miles, parts in the engine should not be tearing up.it is poor quality and dangerous to be driving.

Check engine light came on intermittently.engine heated up and transmission would not shift into overdrive on freeway.transmission shifts hard now and then.checked website for any recalls on engine, took to dealership, still under warranty. They keep the truck for 2 weeks, did machine work on cylinder head, computer said all cylinders mis-firing.print out from chevrolet said 'head replacement', which was not done.notified gmc customer service and opened file.back to dealership second time for drop in idle and misfire during driving.could not find anything wrong.dealership said to bring back if said condition gets worse.

Engine loses power over 55mph and misfires on cylinder one. Engine light comes on. Dealer refuses to fix after looking at it and saying nothing has completely failed yet. They are waiting for me to be stranded on the side of the road i guess.

I have a 2006 colorado 2006 crew cab l-5 engine. I have owned it for 2 1/2 months. It has been to the dealer for 1.rear main bearing seal leak three times. 2.two wheel alignments. 3.auto- transmission cable fell off. This was when i was bringing it in to the dealer for one of the many repairs. 4.it still has to go back for replacing the rear window (on order). This vehicle has been in the shop for 25% of the time i have owned it.

Gm passlock system in my 2006 chevy colorado fails daily leaving me stranded for 10-15 minutes until it resets itself. If engine stalls in a turn lane, it creates a hazardous situation.

A 2006 chevy colorado was having misfires prior to september 2010. This caused the check engine light to come on and so i took it to a chevy dealership for a diagnosis. The diagnosis is the same for thousands of chevy colorado engines as they need new seals, bolts, and a new head. My service manager said this has been a major issue with this engine since the introduction of this vehicle and it is due to a mechanical flaw and not wear and tear. These engines have put a major burden on general motors/chevrolet customers as they have to spend large amounts of money to correct a mechanical flaw noticed by many certified mechanics. Please take this information into consideration as i have done extensive research in finding that this is not an isolated problem and numerous customers have been failed by this such company.

Headlight fixture gets heavy condensation buildup inside lens during rainy weather which eventually causes lamp to fail (burn out) and also reduces operation of headlight due to fixture becoming fogged up because of condensation. Unit eventually will clear up after a few days of dry weather but will eventually become permanently stained (fogged up) due to water damage which will cause one headlight to burn brighter.

Hazard light stuck on, prevent use of signal light.when disabled signal light not operable.

Brake light failure.was recalled in 2006 for a brake switch failure.in 2008 had the brake light go out, took to dealership they said it was the switch but not under warranty, paid to get it fixed.2 times in 2009 had the same problem and paid to get it fixed again.now, march 2010 i have no brake lights!

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While the vehicle was undergoing an inspection by an independent mechanic, the brake light failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the four wheel drive light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,000.

No brake lights on 2006 chevrolet colorado.was notified in traffic by a third party.determined bulbs and fuses were all functional.researched problem online and found nhtsa campaign number:09v-310 regarding exterior lighting:brake lights:switch.i live in missouri which is not specifically noted in the campaign.however, campaign states "coverage for vehicles registered in all other states will be implemented in the same time frame."called local chevrolet dealer to have brake switch replaced regarding this campaign.they stated they were un-aware of the campaign and refused to fix the problem.i am left with a vehicle that has brake light illumination failure and it will not alert other motorists of the vehicle slowing and stopping and could lead to a vehicle crash.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.the contact stated that the exterior brake light switch was inoperative.a local mechanic diagnosed the vehicle would need a new switch.the vehicle was repaired.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted.the failure and current mileage was 64,000.

While driving home from work in the dark, both of my low beam headlamps quit working.i have been having issues with the headlamps and brake lamps going out intermittently and often.i replace them and they continue to go out.i believe there are electrical issues with my vehicle and i have read complaints on the 2006 chevy colorado with some of the same issues.i have contacted chevrolet via e-mail to see if they can assist or if they have a resolution.this is a dangerous situation that could end in disaster.

Driving home on date indicated... Slowing down for traffic and was almost rear-ended... The car behind me moved up to the side to inform me that he almost hit me due to my brake lights not working. Pulled over to confirm to find that none of my brake lights were working when pressing the brake pedal. Got home safely, located the recall information on safercar.gov and found 3 recalls regarding the type of vehicle we have. Took it to the dealer first thing in the morning of 10/5/09. The dealer stated there is no such recall and stated we would need to fix it.call chevrolet at the number listed on the recall summary 800-630-2438 to be told that its not their issue, told me that it is vin # specific.asked to speak to a manager to discuss, a supervisor came on the line with no resolution. She did offer assistance, but would not define the assistance chevrolet would be able to provide.

No brake lights. Fuse is not blown.

I have a chevy 2006 colorado this will be the six time that i that the truck to the dealer to have the rear brake lights fix they all go out together theirs have been some times that we had close call that we didn't get hit by the rear end it has been real scary at those times.

2006 chevy colorado- 4wd- z71, extend cab 1. Premature rear brake shoe wear (more than front disk);2. Right brake light blows out repeatedly and shows shortout burns on contacts at bulb socket. Replacing bulb just blows each time. 3. Rear window leaks in heavy rain storms.

Problem started with both right and left top brake light bulb sockets melting from heat. Then i replaced both brake light assemblies to the tune of $198.00. Now when i apply brakes it blows the brake light fuse and i never know when its going to happen so the possibility of me being hit from behind at any time is very real. When i purchased the replacement tail light and brake light assemblies from the local dealer i asked if he knew of any problems or recalls on my model of vehicle he said no.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 45 mph with the high beams on, the contact noticed the low beams were not on at the same time which reduced visibility. The contact then realized that both the high beams and low beams did not operate at the same time. The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brake lights did not illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. She was informed by another driver of the vehicle that the cruise control had also malfunctioned. She believed that the brake light failure was related to recalls 06v139000 and 09v310000(exterior lighting brake lights switch) and recall. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were 40,351.

2006 chevrolet colorado 3.5 liter 4x4fuel leak at the fuel tank where the fuel feedline connects to the fueltankby a quick connector.this is a high pressure line and the fuel wasspraying out which could have potentially caused a fire and explosion from the hot exhaust.it appears that safety is being compromised for quick assembly.complaint # 2engine power is reduced when codes for throttle position sensor. When code is clearedor erased full power resumes. It appears that isnot necessary to reduce power for this code.

On my 2006 chevrolet colorado, the evaporation solenoid (assembly), which is mounted on the right end of the evaporation canister, is only secured on one end. There is loose play in the mount. The evaporation solenoid can move up and down, every time you hit a rough place in the road. I checked several other new 2006 colorados and one new 2007 colorado. They were all loose. The 2007 was the worse one. The solenoid is connected to the canister with plastic tubing. The canister is connected with plastic tubing to the fuel tank and engine. My fear is that the constant moving up and down could damage the solenoid valve or cause the tubing connected to it to split. Releasing gasoline fumes under the truck while the engine is not running, and putting unfiltered air into engine-fuel tank when it is running. My dealer is aware of the problem, but wants to "tie the solenoid assembly down." i feel that this is a factory problem and should be addressed by general motors, and not shifted back to the dealer. I will in the meantime examine other new 2007 colorados to see if the problem has already been corrected. If it has, i feel that i deserve a recall. P.s. The evaporation canister and solenoid is mounted under the truck bed, in front of the spare tire, and behind the rear axle, not too far from the fuel tank. The flopping up and down producesclunking noises , which is not good, because i know what it is.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated the fuel pump rooted and caused a fuel leak inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic wherethe fuel pump was replaced. The contact called the manufacturer but did not file a complaint. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The fuel pump is leaking at the top of tank. I had a strong smell of gas outside and inside the vehicle. 2006 chevy colorado has 80582 miles on it and the fuel pump housing has rusted a hole in it. It is simply ridiculous that i have had so many problems with this truck since i have owned it. I would recommend that nobody purchase one of these trucks.

While the vehicle was parked and while driving, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 194,330.

The plastic fuel line at the front of the tank is exposed to flying debris and subject to damage. Had to replace line this week. Needs scatter shield in front of tank, for safety. Thank you? 8/07/16

Dt*:the contact stated the passenger side door does not have a keyed lock.the key fob must be used to gain entry.the manufacturer determined this is how the vehicle was manufactured.

The passenger door on the colorado (without electric locks) does not have a key lock to open the door.chevrolet says this was decided by a focus group and does not have a kit to rectify this problem.the only entrance to the locked vehicle is through the driver's door.a case number is furnished and chevrolet refers to the dealer who does not have a kit as of this date.

Dt*: the contact stated the only way to unlock the passenger side door of the vehicle is to crawl in on the driver's side.there is not a lock cylinder on the vehicle and it is not equipped with keyless entry.this was not explained when the vehicle was purchased.the manufacture determined there was not a kit available to put a lock on the door. Updated 03/09/06.

I recently purchased a new 2006 chevrolet colorado pickup. It did not come with power locks and has no key lock on the passenger door. The only way to unlock the vehicle was on the driver's side. This means i have to take my child out into the street to put them in the truck or leave them standing on the sidewalk while i run around to unlock their door. This makes no sense. Please ask gmc to recall these vehicles and install key locks to lock and unlock the passenger doors.

Rear brake grab and premature rear brake wear.

My 2006 chevy colorado is having abs problems. Brakes are squishy and pumping own their own for no apparent reason. Sometimes when i apply the brakes they aren't totally there. The peddle will almost go to the floor. Theabs and park brake light comes on and off. This has been going on for quite along time (last couple of years). Have heard numerous others complain about the same thing. Just check the internet. Am i in danger of a crash? please address this problem we are all having.

Engine had a misfire and would stall sometimes when you made a tight turn at low speeds. Found out it had a bad value seat causing it to have the misfire. Gm messed around and wouldn't fix it. Red other people had bad value seats too. Spent my own money to get it fixed.

We have experienced a front universal premature failure. We have aprox.51000 miles on this truck, from experienced mechanics, they say this should not happen to this particular joint. I take good care of my cars/trucks.no hot roddingor abuse. Purpose for this contact was to fined out if this is a problem and has been reported before. I think this item was defective when built. What's my recourse if any? [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the four wheel drive engaged independently without warning and the front wheels seized. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Letter from senator sessions on behalf of constituent re a pending general motors warranty claim on a 2006 chevrolet colorado. *tgwwhen the consumers wife went to put the vehicle in park, the vehicle proceeded to accelerate through a window of an office building.the wrecker service verified that the gear shift was loose, leaving the transmission in the forward position.gm denied the consumers warranty claim, even though it was well within the five year. 50,000 mile warranty period.

I own a 2006 chevrolet colorado ls. Inexplicably and randomly, it shifts itself into 4wd high.often this is while making a right hand turn.chevrolet stopped servicing my vehicle, telling me there was no cure for this problem.it has happened at high speeds on the highway as well.the most recent date this happened was yesterday while i was turning into my post office.this has been a constant problem since the recorded mileage was 2,109.records will show the truck was in for service by gm at least 15 times.incidentally, this is a replacement truck for a 2005 colorado that had precisely the same problem.before the dealer was shut down by gm, the service manager told me that gm detroit had told him not to service the vehicle for this problem any longer as gm had no cure for it.

Column shifter for auto trans defective. Will not go into park position. Have to shut off in reverse.will allow you to remove key in reverse. Have to turn key on in reverse, then shift to nuetral to start.

While adjusting the air conditioner vent this summer, i inadvertently lightly touched the 4 wheel drive low button engaging my 2006 chevrolet colorado into low 4 wheel drive. Although the light on the button came on (which is not easy to see), no bell like seatbelt, door open, key in ignition, etc, came on, and when i went around a corner to park, the trucks front end locked up. I was told that will happen in all trucks which are in cab 4 wheel drive engaging. This is extremely dangerous as this button can easily be punched by anything that comes near the vent, or a package that bumps it, and there is no signal to operator that something very significant which can cause front end to lock up as wheel are trying to turn together (as dealer told me). I find it really needs to be addressed as this may happen on the highway to a family who swerves to miss a collision only to find the 4 wheel has been unknowingly engaged and the steering is rendered useless when this happens. Dealer was notified and i was told that is how all trucks in all makes and models are, and if i did not like it, "go ahead and file a complaint, nothing would be done because it would have to be done on such a massive recall basis". Maybe if someone is injured or killed the manufacturers will be able to connect this 4 wheel drive change which can occur with no notice to driver to a bell or sound which operator has to acknowledge, much like a key being in ignition, or seatbelts. I was also told that 4 wheelers didn't want a bell ringing every time they put their truck in 4 wheel when off road. I think 4 wheelers wouldn't mind the same reminder as mentioned above (bell sound) when engaged in 4 wheel drive, if it means it would protect millions of other people from potentially life threatening accidents.

We owned a 2005 colorado that had problems with the lifters which had to be replaced.it also shifted into 4 wheel drive high, in most cases when shifting to drive after being parked or idling in traffic.steering and brakes would lock up, and the only way to get it out of 4wd high was to drive in reverse.after a year long battle with our local chevy dealer, and 11 times in for service, we traded it in for a 2006 model.two weeks after we got our new truck, the same thing with the 4-wheel drive happened while in line at the bank drive-up on a saturday morning.i contacted the dealership as soon as i got home and was told to make an appointment to bring the truck in to be looked at.upset, i told him that we had taken our last truck in countless times for this same problem and the problem could never be "duplicated".we did take it in and they replaced some computer part or chip but it has done it again since then.this could be extremely serious if we were driving at any rate of speed let alone on a highway.chevy needs to address this issue.we need to make them address it.

I don't remember everything because i was airlifted.i ran a stop sign and myself, my grandson, and my daughter-n-law (my grandson's mother was in backseat) and my great grandson in car seat were on our way home coming from near columbus ga.according to the data recorder from the truck all our seat belts were fastened.another vehicle hit my truck and my grandson was ejected and killed..his seatbelt failed. I failed a complaint with general motors in november 2013 and they turned it over to esis to handle. I have yet to hear anything as of today august 6, 2014.i never got a recall on this either.even though they have the data report stating seat belts were fastened, they will not respond to my emails.i have emailed [xxx]and other executives and nothing has been done. Needless to say, general motors is a multi billion dollar company who cares about noone.i hope you will respond to my email. I won't even begin to tell you how devastated our family still is.something needs to be done.the vehicle was totaled.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

"takata recall" and brakes

This piece of junk truck has frequent problems with the abs, with the entire vehicle squealing every time you turn or brake, and today was the final straw. Today while pulling out of a parking lot, going maybe 5 miles an hour, my 2006 chevy colorado with around 75000 miles had trouble while braking and made a horrible grating noise and sensation. The abs fault sensor immediately kicked on and i had trouble getting to a safe place to completely stop. Today's weather was dry, the pavement was dry, i have a 4x4 truck. There is no reason this piece of crap truck should not be able to handle dry pavement. This vehicle will likely cause me to get in a serious accident and i intend on getting rid of this death trap and never ever buying gmc vehicles again. I'll stick to foreign carmakers who fix their problems instead of ignoring the thousands of people that are having the same problems as i am with the same useless stupid truck. You won't be able to reach me by phone as i'm living overseas. Please email me.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving and depressing the brake pedal, the brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that both brake lights failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repairedthe vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 06v139000 (exterior lighting) and 09v310000 (exterior lighting).the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.updated 05/10/17*lj

Stopped at right turn yield sign behind other vehicles; cars started to move the car ahead of me stopped again i put on my brakes and slowly hit the vehicle in the rear. After the incident i notice that my brake pedal would slowly go to the floor.when i hit the vehicle my pedal was hitting the floor, i had no brakes.no damage to my vehicle, minor damage to other vehicle's plastic bumper.

Anti lock brakes make noise. Warning lights come on . Ok above 30 mph but brake warning lights stay on. Dealer says both front wheel hubs need to be replaced. They want around $1000 to do this. Contacted chevrolet customer assistance center. Service request number [xxx]. They will not do anything about this, requested this in writing they refused to give me this in writing . This has been an ongoing thing with this truck, and many others from what i see on the internet. They say truck to old & to many miles, but they advertise long lasting chevy trucks.06 59000 miles .also had a $2900 problem with engine . Chevrolet helped on this. Cost me about $530 to fix a factory defect.thanks

Abs fault light remains on.sensor was replaced but the error message did not go away.

The rear brakes lock up at slow speeds, especially when slowing down to stop. They will do this in such a way that catches you off guard and throws you forward into the steering wheel. This has nearly caused a few serious accidents becausethe lock up takes away control of the truck. The severity of the lock ups varies somewhat. They may lock then unlock but they can just as easily lock up and bring the truck to a skidding stop. They are also squealing severely.

For the past couple of years there has been a problem with my anti-lock brakes.when applying the brakes, the brake pedal vibrates excessively as if the anti-lock brakes are activating. After a short time driving, an abs warning light activates indicating a fault.i am very concerned because first, the brakes do not act in the way a driver would expect and when applying the brakes i get concerned every time that the brakes will not work.secondly, i believe the fault may cause the abs to no longer function in conditions it has been designed for.upon further research of this problem, it is apparent that this is a widespread issue among colorado and canyon trucks.a "fix" for this problem is reportedly in the range of $1500 with many owners reporting that the problem has returned or continued.i feel that any issue involving a faulty brake component must be addressed as soon as possible.chevrolet has chosen not to do this and i fear this may be yet another failure on the part of gm to address a safety issue involving one of their vehicles.i would have a hard time believing that i am the first to report this issue.i really do not want to become a statistic.please help!thank you kindly for your time.please note that the incident date, mileage and speed are only estimates.

I own a 2006 chevy colorado, the abs fault message comes up daily, and the abs engages for no reason, making it nearly impossible to start. Many people are having this same issue and can be found all over the internet, including edmunds.com.this is a safety hazard and there is no recall.

I own a 2006 chevy colorado 4wd crew cab pick up with 22,000 mile.the abs fault alarm has been coming on and going off, started on 8/4/2011.gm customer service has been notified. Repairs have yet to be made.with the age and mileage of vehicle, i would think that there is a defect in the abs system.

I own a 2006 chevrolet colorado which i bought new in november 2006. The vehicle was manufactured in april 2006.i was rear ended causing $1,500.00 of damage to the rear bumper assembly and the bumper was pushed into the painted area under the driver side tail light.the collision was the cause of the brake light switch being burned up, not allowing contacts to engage brake lamps. I have notified chevrolet customer service of this issue and they have done nothing. I had to purchase a replacement switch and have it installed at my cost.i am seeking for chevrolet to repair my vehicle as the person's insurance company said this would be considered a fault of the vehicle and would not pay for the damages.

Abs failure on info screen of truck. 06 chevy colorado. Taken to dealer and was told left side hub and sensor need replaced. Truck has at this time a little over 10k miles on it. In less than another 1k miles it started again. Dealer checked out the truck and said both sides now need replaced at a cost of around $1300. I reminded them they did replace the left side. O ok we'll cover that side but you'll have to pay for the other side. I told them i would get it fixed just before my yr was up on the left side repair warranty. I ask them if the truck was safe to drive and the answer is yes, we just state inspected it while it was here. So, april 2011 is the time i have to get the repairs done by.

Abs brakes randomly engage or engage during normal applied braking.

I own a 2006 chevy colorado with only 42,000 miles, my issue is the abs fault light appears on the information console and stays lit.i've gone to a dealership and they don't seem to have the answer.i've been on a few colorado forums and it all seems to be the same complaint, their abs/brake light comes on and no one has an answer.

On my 2006 chevrolet colorado the abs fault light comes on every now and then. Also you can hear the abs motor engage when you applythe brakes. I believe there is a safety issue here !!!!you never know if you apply the brakes in an emergency will the abs system work or fail? the truck has less ten 29,000 miles on it and it should not have this kind of problem with the brake system.

There appears to be a design flaw with the front brake assembly of the 2006 chevrolet colorado. Under normal operating conditions the inner brake pads can fail to function. Inspection of the front brakes on my 2006 colorado showed the outer pads had normal wear while the inner pads showed virtually no wear (pads were almost factory spec thickness). This was after 80,000 miles (85% highway driving) which indicated theinner pads were never functioning properly. The inner side of the brake rotors were badly corroded which required that the rotors be replaced even though they had no scoring or warpage. The vehicle was safety inspected in pennsylvania 4 times (2006-2009) by a chevrolet dealer who never noted this problem. I can't understand how they could miss the fact that one the bake pads on the outside of the rotors were getting thinner while the inside pads never changed in thickness. During the four years i've owned the vehicle i never had properly operating front brakes. I've owned 14 vehicles, various makes and models, that had front disc brakes and i've never seen a problem like this. I've talked to two independent garages in new jersey who told me that out of 17 colorados they collectively have serviced 14 have had this problem (>80%). That seems like an abnormally high percentage of failures for a braking system.the remedy proposed by the service department of a chevy dealer in new york was to have the front brakes inspected every 3 to 6 months (at $40 a pop) for this problem.

Have a 2006 chevy colorado i am the only owner and at about 30,000 miles the abs fault light started to come on and off .took to dealer and they could not find anything wrong. At 37,000 miles light stays on and brakeing feels interupted at times . Took back to dealer and they said that whole hub needed replaced on the left side at a cost of nearly $700.00 and that the right side would probably need replaced soon to. I am 77 years old and the cost of the truck was $33,000 .i have been into the forums for this truck and there are hundreds of same complaints . Should this not be a reason for a gm recall ? thanks gmi have been a loyal gm purchaser for 58 years.

Having issues with:abs braking fault on 2006 4x4 colorado crew cab.having vibration in brake pedal and feel as if brakes are not being applied enough to stop in an emergency.abs fault light on dash goes off after restart of engine and all is okay until i don't know when!i've read where people are being charged in the thousands to repair this and are still having these same problems.

2006 chevy colorado abs brake faults. Light comes on and brakes pedal hard to press. Brakes seem to not want to stop truck normally.

Rear brakes have failed four times since purchase; almost caused two crashes. Cruise control doesn't always work.brake lights only work sometimes.

After having my front brakes replaced, the abs sensor on my brakes intermittently fails when driving this truck.when the sensor fails, my anti-lock brakes engage impairing my ability to stop.this is a widely reported problem with chevy colorado/canyon trucks and gm needs to acknowledge and recall the truck and fix the sensor.i had an estimate done to "fix" the sensor and it was over $1000, this is after already putting $1000 into replacing the front brakes six months ago on a truck with barely 40k miles.

At about 12,000 miles, owning truck for less than a year, the brakes started to squeak, and then grind.service department said that there was a high metal content in front pads.front brake pads were replaced at 15,000 miles.

No brake lights. Fuse is not blown.

The contact owns a2006 chevrolet colorado.while driving 10mph another vehicle caused him to engaged the brakes abruptly and they failed to stop the vehicle.the contact reapplied the brakes and the vehicleslowed down just enough to maneuver and prevent a crash.the brake failure occurs daily. The failure mileage was 4000.the dealer has replaced the brakes on more than one occasion and the problem continued to occur.the current mileage was17000.

Pulling up to a stop sign the brakes were applied and they started to pulsate as if it was hard braking and i went through the stop sign and into the oncoming lane. Thank god there was no oncoming traffic. I was able to put the truck in reverse and get out of the lane of traffic. Since then the abs light has been coming on intermittently and i loose the anti- lock braking system when this happens. I believe the front hubs may be failing or the speed sensors which is built into the front hubs are failing.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving 65 mph he heard asquealingnoise on the front brakes and later it was a grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic in the area were he was traveling. The local mechanic replaced the entire front brake system because of the corrosion. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 65,561 and the current mileage was 68,243.

Brakes squeak and grab after rain or when wet. Problem occurs mostly upon first couple of stops. I have referred to the dealer they said rust buildup on rotors normal condition.

Rear brake grab and premature rear brake wear.

Abs brake hub/ sensor ....brakes go into abs mode without cause or reason. Brake pedal goes into abs mode, when brakes are applied truck pulls hard to the left. Chevrolet has replaced three hub assemblies of which i have had to pay for two. Dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado.while driving 15 mph, the brake pedal vibrated and extended to the floor when it was depressed.the vehicle would not stop.the transmission was shifted to a lower gear in an attempt to stop the vehicle.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 10,000.

2006 chevv colorado pu.2wd. The front disk brake calipers came loose. Noticeable when driveing on washboard roads ; aloose ratteling sound that became worse over time. Loss of power steering when at low engine rpms or idle pulling into or out of parking spaces.

1.at all temperatures the vehicle has "hard spots" while turning at low speed.2.it occurs intermittently.3.it has not been addressed at this time, because the mechanics can't isolate the exact problem, and i do not have the capital to swap parts until the problem is resolved.

The ignition system fail and don't let the car start even we the original key and don't let start the auto for 10 minutes and so on and this is happening to every colorado owner that i now.

Had to replace tie rod ends on my 2006 chevy colorado pickup truck. The tie rods were worn out after 51000 miles. Truck would steer poorly. Not used off road or heavy use, normal driving! don't have old parts.

My vehiclesuddenly stopped and i almost crashed! steering went out and the frontend began to rise! since it was dark i was able to safely park my truck. So, the next morning i was able to observe that the tie-rods had snapped off. My truck has aprox. 80k with no heavy/ harsh driving. What is going on with chevy vehicles????recall, after recall......

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 45 mph, the powering steering stopped working while turning on a curvy road. The contact pulled the vehicle to the side of the road, turned the ignition off for a few minutes and turned it back on and the power steering functioned properly again. The failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated the power steering box and the sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 48,900.

The vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 137,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet cobalt. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph and experienced a complete loss of power steering assist without warning. In addition, a clicking noise emitted inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and force was applied to the steering wheel. The contact was able to regain power steering after restarting the engine numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the power steering motor was replaced. The manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v073000 (steering) however, the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 123,546.

1. Very thin metal, body panels, especially front fenders, move toward hood while waxing fenders, lower bed sides paper thin, bend very easily. 2. Bad vibration between 52-55 miles per hour. 3. Front bumper misaligned from factory, has a chip in paint in lower front fenders where and when bumper was installed at factory, one side was touched up at factory.4. Bed misaligned, too far toward drivers side.5. Interior very cheaply made, plastic panel behind seats (regular cab) squeaks, rattles. This truck was bought new with 33 miles on it, it now has 553 miles on it and i have owned it a month and a half.

2006 chevrolet colorado extended cab 4x4 with only 115k miles on it has a frame that is completely rusted out and snapped on the driver side just before the leaf spring while driving over a speed bump on a local municipal roadway.

The entire frame has rotted out. It has broken as a result and is beyond repair. The rest of the truck is in prime condition. The rear end of the truck is in danger of falling off at any given moment.

Roof on my 2006 colorado has caved in next to sunroof, the appears to be no support and probably should not have been offered with sunroof.

During a rain storm water puddles inside the vehicle.i have been unable to locate the source of the leak. Looking on line tells me lots of these trucks have the same problem. However no one has been able to findthe origin nor a solution for this problem.

I took my 2006 colorado in for an oil change and the shop called me back and said that my frame was cracked. Come to find out it wasn't cracked but it had a giant hole along the bottom side of the driver side frame rail. I took the truck to a guy that is very knowledgeable and he said it looked just like a toyota frame. So now i'm going to have to total this truck because it is unsafe to drive and it only has 102000 miles on it. Gm needs to issue a recall for these frames before someone gets killed.

Bad vibration in my 2006 chevrolet colorado between 50-70 mph. I have been to the dealership 6 times with this issue. Here are the things they have checked to try to fix the problem*replace tires with same brand*check drive shaft *replace tires with different brand*force balance tires*check suspensionthe problem still exists and gm said that there is nothing more that they can do.

Front end will not stay aligned causing heavy wear on inside tire tread. Have had truck re aligned several times and have replaced several sets of tires due to this problem first noticed it in 2007 and have replaced tires at least 5 times just recently replaced again im now at 80,000 miles this time went with 31x10.5x15 see how this goes.

While under vehicle replacing rear u joints saw rust on frame with massive hole not sure if this vehicle is safe to drive i have 2 children? what options do i have?

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brake lights did not illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. She was informed by another driver of the vehicle that the cruise control had also malfunctioned. She believed that the brake light failure was related to recalls 06v139000 and 09v310000(exterior lighting brake lights switch) and recall. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were 40,351.

When using the cruise control on my 2006 chevrolet colorado, particularly when going downhill, the cruise control does not hold the set speed.setting the cruise control at 55 mph and then going downhill, the vehicle will accelerate up to 64 or 65 mph.obviously, to obey traffic laws, the brakes are applied and disengages the cruise control.however, when the cruise control is set at 65 mph, and goes down hill, the speed will only increase to only 67-68 mph.i have tried setting the cruise control at 55 mph on various roads going downhill, and the results are consistent.the speed of the vehicle will increase by 9 to 10 mph.when i first purchased the vehicle, general motors did contact mesoliciting my feedback on the new vehicle.i did make the representative aware of the problem with the cruise control.i was also asked if i would be willing to talk to an engineer about the problem.i was agreeable to this, but was never contacted by gm.i had the cruise control checked by my dealer.the dealer found that the cruise control was working according to specifications.the vehicle was not tested under the same driving conditions that i experienced the problem.i have also sent a letter to gm chevrolet customer assistance two weeks ago, in regard to the cruise control problem.as of this date, i have had no response.on a separate note, i have other chevrolet pick-up trucks in the family and the cruise control holds the set speed going down the same hills that the cruise control fails on the 2006 colorado.this problem has been occurring since january when i purchased the vehicle.

Rear brakes have failed four times since purchase; almost caused two crashes. Cruise control doesn't always work.brake lights only work sometimes.

Heat and a/c fan would only work on high speed.
