Deer hits car driver & passenger air bags did not deploy & passenger head hits windshield.

As i slammed on brakes car shut down causing steering to lock and brakes to not function well. I ended up rear ending person in front. Also the airbag burned my left hand.

I was driving down the freeway at 68 mph the in front of me stopped, i slammed on my brakes and they locked up, i ended up hitting them, my air bag never deployed nor did my sit belt lock, i ended up with whiplash and hitting my head.

Deer hits car driver & passenger air bags did not deploy & passenger head hits windshield.

2005 chevy malibu was in front end collision, no air bags came out nor did seat belts hold, injures to both passengers.

Had accident with deer & drivers air bag did not come out & passenger hit head on windshield because his did not come out either,we could have been serious hurt.

Vehicle is a 2005 chevrolet classic in extremely good condition with low mileage for the year. I was teaching my 15yr old daughter how to drive and as we were turning through an intersection the car lost power and died. I had her try to start the car and after the third try it started. The car died again as we were driving home but started on the fourth try. I parked the car and tried to guess what may be wrong. I replaced the fuel filter and had the fuel pump replaced (twice) finally had to take it to a mechanic and paid $766.98 and several hours to diagnose a faulty ignition switch. I would like to be notified if this ignition switch is ever on a recall as this is a very dangerous thing to go out while driving.

I have a 2005 chevrolet classic. The anti theft system in the car goes off randomly often stranding me where ever i am. Thealarm system has stopped working and i have to replace my breaks every 3 months. I have done some research into theanti theft issue and it seems to be a major problem among other owners of this car. I have taken it to a shop several times and they can't see a reason for the anti-theft system to go off. The lights burn out quickly. The wiring harness on the lights are loose and it can't be fixed.i don't feel safe driving my car anymore because i am worried it will not start.this has been amajor problem for sometime now. Why are these cars not on re-call?

I have a 2005 chevy classic that fails to start due to a faulty security system.when the car fails to start the security system light begins flashing.in order to reset the security system i have to place the key in the on position and wait for 10 minutes.the security light stops flashing and i can then take the ignition to the off position and attempt to start the car again (it sometimes fails to start again and there goes another 10 minutes).i have done some research on the internet and have fount this to be a problem with many gm cars from 99 to 05.i wonder why a recall has not been made for this problem.

The car would not start.the lights on the dash came on, but there was no ignition, no sound of the engine trying to start.i could here the fuel pump start and stop.it was a cool, damp morning.later that day, the car started with no problem.this happened several times, until we started parking the car in the garage.

I am having problems with the theft bypass system, on my 2005 chevy classic.several months ago, i received a recall notice in the mail.it was for the ignition key rotation.when i brought my car into the dealership, i told them that i was having problems with the car (suddenly) dying.i told them that it had died when i was on the freeway (twice), while driving on the city streets, and in my driveway.i was told that the recall would fix the problem.unfortunately, the problem persists.this past friday, late in the evening, my car (suddenly) died in the middle of a busy intersection.through the grace of god, the drivers around me were paying attention -- i could have been in an awful accident.several people, kindly, pushed my car into a parking lot.while in the parking lot, a mechanic stopped to look at the car.he told me that my chevy is well known for having a defective pass-lock sensor security system, which causes the vehicle to shut down suddenly.the mechanic stated that there might be a recall.yet, i haven't been able to find that information -- gm is not helpful!after an hour or so, the car still wouldn't start.i had a friend tow me home.i am older and disabled and must have a reliable vehicle.i need to be able to drive to my doctor's appointment, via the freeway.yet, i have (already) experienced my car (suddenly) dying on the freeway.i am terrified of getting into an accident and (possibly) hurting/killing myself and/or someone else.i, truly, believe that this defect is gm's responsibility to fix free of charge.or, perhaps there is a recall that i'm unaware of?either way, please help me.i am thanking you in advance.

The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet classic. The contact stated that the security system would activate when he attempted to start the vehicle, preventing it from starting. The failure recurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 82,000. The vin was unavailable.

My 2005 chevy classic stalls and the anti-theft light comes on the dashboard.the car won't start after repeated attempts.happens at idle or at speed.very dangerous.car appears to think it's been stolen.i have found that i can restart after i turn the key off and back on repeatedly.i have now gotten to the point that i can hear the fuel pump come on only after many tries, and then it starts.i've had the ignition replaced and full tune up.the mechanic says that there are no error codes in the computer to research.this is obviously a defect in the design of the car and gm can either recall it or get sued when someone gets hurt.i've been lucky so far to be able to pull over to the side safely, or it occurs while stopped.

The anti-theft device keeps going off and causing me to be stranded at least twice a month. I have had to have it towed three times already this year.

I would be driving and vehicle would just shut off, sometimes i would go out and it would start and other times it would not start, i spent money on tow trucks, at least twice, had towed to serra chevrolet, they would keep it for week at time and tell me nothing was wrong, finally i took it to local mechanic at auto tech and within an hour they called and told me it was the electronic starter switch and replaced it within the day, and it cost me over nine hundred dollars, i had already spent almost 2500.00 with serra chevrolet with no results, so the 900.00 was a good deal for an excellent repair, have had no problems with vehicle since that time, however, i feel that general motors should be responsible for this repair, but taking on that giant is most likely a lesson in futility.

2005 chevrolet classic.consumer writes in regards to reimbursement for ignition recall notice repairs.the ignition switch was replaced.

Theft system activated and the vehicle cut off while driving causing a serious safety concern, this has happened numerous times, gm recalled this vehicle under recall number 14350, all the dealership did was apply small two small key rings, this did nothing to alleviate the problem, when i called gm to complain that the ignition switch is the problem and they should be replaced at no cost to the owner, they said that there is no recall for this problem even though this appears to be the exact fix for this problem, i paid my mechanic to replace the ignition switch, i would like to be reimbursed by gm.thank you.

The anti-theft light comes on and the car will not start.i have to turn the key to the on position and wait 10 minutes and try to start the car.normally i only need to do this once and it starts.this has occurred on average about 1 or 2 times each month.

The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet classic. The contact stated the vehicle was in the park when the anti lock warning sensor illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle wastaken to a local repair shop but the manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 165,000.

Auto theft light comes on every 5to 10 days..and car will not start up...have to wait 10 minutes before starting the car again....

First i thought it was my fuel pump but shut after shut and not starting k found out it was my anti theft system.this problem been happening for a fewweeks and now it is becoming very costly and very dangerous there should of been a recall on this car.

Chevrolet. Consumer is writing in regards to gm recall #14350. * ldthe consumer stated the ignition switch failed. The vehicle had to be towed, to a repair shop. The ignition switch was replaced at a cost of $ 289.38. She is seeking reimbursement.

2005 chevrolet classic - passlock system causes car to not start. Must wait 10 minutes every time this happens to try again, and still sometimes it won't start, causing another 10 minute wait. This is especially dangerous for a woman with children in a dark parking lot to have to do this. Happens at least once per week.

I received a safety recall notice from gm on approx. 09/15/2014. It is about the ignition shutting off on various gm models and years. My car is apparently part of this recall. Their "fix" appears to be "placing a cover over the key head to limit other objects, i would assume: key ring, fob, other keys, etc. From moving as much while the car is being driven.this does not appear to me to "fix" the defective ignition.

Theft deterrent system light comes on and does not allow car to start.or comes on while driving and car shuts completely down.

Upper portion of 2 part steering shaft came loose and still is.truck was one year old with 5000 miles on it.just makes noise. Haven't had time to change it. Also front wheel bearings wore out at 30,000 miles. Ignition switch sometimes jams for the past couple of years. Truck only has 40,000 miles on it now.

The first time i had this issue at the end of last year, i was told i had to have the fuel pump replaced, which was not the issue come to find out. My chevrolet classic 2005 intermittently refused to start. The car would attempt to turn over but refuse. The theft system light would blink during this time. Most recently, the vehicle did this again but allowed my to start it fine for a week and a half but went back into not starting with the theft system light flashing. I thought, how is that, i own this vehicle i am the owner starting the ignition with the key? i have had several mechanics (most recent tires plus, early may 2014) tell me they couldn't find an issue and that without the vehicle currently experiencing the problem, they weren't able to identify the problem. The vehicle finally stopped starting again, so i had it towedto chevrolet this time for service. I was told today that it is the passlock system and needs to be replaced. I have talked to former chevrolet owners who said they had the same issue and kept having the passlock problem fixed every time. They said they finally ditched their chevrolets and got toyotas to avoid the issue. I have also researched a lot of forums, and youtube videos demonstrating this problem which has happened to many other chevrolet and gm owners. I believe that since this has been a faulty part for many owners, then chevrolet and gm should be working to solving this issue for all owners. The cost to repair this issue is high. I believe that since this is an issue that is not uncommon for many chevrolet and gm owners, this should be a problem they should be striving to fix and to reimburse owners who have already fixed chevrolet and gm's mistake. I don't believe there is something we did to cause this problem in our own vehicles, as we aren't attempting to steal them, but simply drive our own vehicles. Thank you.

I purchased my 2005 chevrolet malibu classic in february of 2005.so far my car has been in the shop 5 times.the first time was to fix a problem with the computer system.after driving long distances and turning on the air conditioner the car would completely turn itself off.this happened twice, in rush hour traffic. Next, an 02 sensor had to be replaced after the check engine light kept coming off an on.the last 3 times i have taken my car to two different dealerships to see if i can get my current problem resolved.when i am driving, there is a loud metal banging sound coming from both the right and left front wheel areas of the car (suspension noise).each time the car has been in the shop, they have replaced a part. So far i have had strut cushions/spring seats replaced.tomorrow will be my 4th time taking my car to the shop for the same problem. When driving the car at times you feel very little control over the steering, it seems like the front tires aren't controlling/directing the rest of the car.

Gear shift cover started breaking apart from gear.first there was a small tear, then it got larger and larger, and eventually came off the gear.

The electric power steering motor has been going off/on while driving. The latest incident was saturday december 21,2013. The electric power steering went out briefly while driving the freeway and going up a hill returning to my residence. If power steering assist was almost lost would require greater driver effort at low vehicle speeds, increasing my risk of crash. The manufactor or drive time where i bought the car never informed of the recall of this part.

I was driving down the freeway at 68 mph the in front of me stopped, i slammed on my brakes and they locked up, i ended up hitting them, my air bag never deployed nor did my sit belt lock, i ended up with whiplash and hitting my head.

2005 chevy malibu was in front end collision, no air bags came out nor did seat belts hold, injures to both passengers.

Both right and left rear seat belts could not be pulled out around passenger to click into locking device. After many attempts on both belts taking 5 to 6 minutes, with assistance from another passenger, rear seat occupant was finally able to get right side rear belt to deploy around body and click in lock. Problem seamed to be in the seat belt safety locking mechanism that stops belt in place when an accident occurs or brakes are applied in a hard manner.

I arrived at work and was told by coworkers that my brake lights were still on.they would not shut off.i removed the negative battery terminal to avoid draining my battery.on the drive home, after reconnecting battery, i discovered my cruise control was not working either.i saw on the internet a recall (gm 13036) that covered this exact problem on several models including the malibu which my car nearly identical to.unfortunately it does not cover my model and it should!clearly this is a widespread issue and 2005 classic should be included.i currently am driving with the lights stuck on and have to disconnect / connect battery terminal every time i drive.

Power steering assembly breaks away from engine cradle due to heavy corrosion.(photos available) wife complained of thumping noise when turning.i test drove a figure eight and parked with passenger wheel 30 degrees out of alignment.loss of steering (not just power),regardless of cause, structural integrity of the cradle can't be allowed to fail, ever.either the original metallurgicalspecifications were in error, or some subset of the supplied cradles did not meet specs.10579587, dated 3/12/2014 ? is an earlier accurate description of same problem. The engine subframe (cradle) mounting tabs for steering gear have rusted out causing steering gear toseparate from the subframe. The vehicle is then unable to steer posing threat of crash and serious injury.we have also seen this on pontiac grand am, and oldsmobile alero models from years 2000-2005.

Normal driving conditions, then just started making faint noise, progressing more as time went by. Went to dealership several times was told there was no problem. Took it to another dealership left it. Was told they replaced p/s pump and replacedleft door panel. Went back to 1st. Dealer several more times for same problem as before. They replaced a rubber grommet, right lower control arm. Still not fixed. Went back to 2nd dealer again, was told that "gm" said they had already fixed it once and theywouldn't fix it again. Because it was an ongoing problem with not just my car but others as well. Now it is so much worse, that i fear for the safety of my family, because it is in the steering/ suspension.

For the 4th time power steering failed. For the 2nd time the steering column was replaced at no chargethe first time it failed chapman chevrolet in tempe, azreplaced this and charged $970 for repairs. The 2nd and third timethe electric power steering motor was replaced for free at no charge. Numerous gm cars including the 2010 cobalt have had this replaced at no charge but gm and chapman refuse torefund to refund the initial charge since this is not shown as a recall item at this time.

The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet classic. The contact stated that the driver was traveling 30 mph and attempting a right turn when the steering wheel seized without warning. The driver then crashed into a curb. The driver did not sustain any injuries and the police were not contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.

I heard some clunking noise in the front end. Was told by a chain repair shop that the struts probably needed replacing. I thought it was too loud for that, but i trusted their opinion. A few days later, the steering wheel was way off center. As i went to make a u-turn, i lost steering completely. Fortunately i was able to move out of traffic safely without an accident. Obviously, this would have been a disaster on the freeway. The mechanic said that the mounting tabs for the steering gear where everything is attached rusted out completely from the subframe and needed a cradle so he could re-attach the steering components. Also, the steering rack was damaged in the process and needed to be replaced as well. Total cost of repairs was $1390, which was achieved because of finding used parts.

While driving on the interstate at approxmiately 60 mph, the power steering stopped working and became hard to steer.it has not worked since.

For a couple months, i have been noticing a noise when i turn left with my 2005 chevy malibu classic.i went to my repairshop and they said my steering fluid was low, but they couldn't find a problem.today, i visited the same shop and they found that my steering rack and pinion needs to be replaced immediately because i am running the risk of it locking up while driving and being unable to turn.i have done some searching online, and apparently this is a very common occurrence with my vehicle.losing all control of steering is a very serious hazard and i believe general motors should be held accountable for this defect.thank you for the work you do.

The car was purchased recently (late december, 2013) on a salvage title by my mother. On saturday, april 12 i was driving on the highway at 60 miles an hour and suddenly the car started decelerating. I pushed the gas pedal but nothing happened- the speed kept dropping. As we slowed to a stop i took the vehicle off the road to the side and parked. A passenger was in the car with me. We waited a few minutes and the classic started again and drove alright. But the same thing kept happening a few miles down the road (if memory serves, this occurred five times that day). The vehicle had to wait about two to three minutes to start again- turning the key earlier produced a thumping sound inside, a thud-thud-thud sound. I am reluctant to drive the vehicle until it is repaired and i am contacting your agency about the matter because if it does pertain to a safety/parts issue it may be something which could impact other drivers with the same model as well. When cars lose speed suddenly on the highway they can pose a traffic hazard to other vehicles. I contacted the manufacturer to let them know about this issue too.a similar incident happened earlier this month, and at that time we took the car to the shop and the catalytic converter and muffler were both replaced with new equipment.
