I have a 2002 chevy silverado 1500 auto. My battery weakened, so i changed it. Then my brand new battery died within a few minutes. Charged the battery, again the same problem. Took it in on 8/11/08 to have it diagnosed .mechanic said my radio is absorbing the battery. I have thee original radio that came with thee vehicle. The only way to drive my truck with out the radio absorbing the battery, was to disconnect the radio fuse. This problem also triggered my security lightto come on. Now i'm unable to read my speed dometer, mileage, gas, temperature, oil gage and radio. My lights on my dash board no longer lights up. Vehicle is inoperative paint on my vehicle is bubbling/chipping on my front hood and sides. This vehicle has never been repainted.

2002 chevy silverado stalls/ "dies" "cuts- out while driving took to dealer they tested it said nothing was wrong we paid for testing- truck continued to have problem took to different dealer fuel sensor was bad it was replaced.truck continues to have same problem.
1. Sub quality bolts used to hold manifold to heads manifold became loose from heads2. Truck had 49,695 miles and all twelve bolts had to be replaced as they were broken and rusted causing safety hazard.3. Manifold was removed and twelve new bolts were used to replaced defective bolts.
During the winter months of 2004-2005 while residing at our home in arizonathe2002 chevrolet pickup with an 8.1 liter engine began to stop running without any indication of any kind of warning or impending problem whatsoever.this would happen often times while traveling in extremely heavy traffic in the phoenix area, creating an unsafe situation for both ourselves and passengers in the vehicle, and those drivers around us.we would never know at any given time when this would happen.we managed to get the vehicle back to the dealership here in iowa.the dealership was very uncooperative about approaching general motors to resolve the problem as a safety issue.we do understand that it wasmore than a single vehicle occurrence since i have conversed with several other people who own a similar engine vehicle and had similar problem. The dealer finally did resolved the problem by changing the crank shaft sensors with an accompanied approximate $375 repair bill.i didnot think that general motors has dealt with owners of this type of vehicle and hopefully they will eventually concede to the fact that this was a case of poor engineering.incidently, this engine was documented with a 100,000 mile warranty but the dealership and general motors saw fit to deny that coverage since they said thecrank shaft sensors were not part of the engine. This sounded a little ironical.
There was no "incident".my complaint is about the gas mileage of my vehicle. It is getting 8.5 to 9 mpg around town.
I purchasedvehicle used with 11500 miles on it from a used car dealership here in monroe, louisiana.i received notification of a faulty tailgate cable and fuel filter for the6.6 duramax diesel.i scheduled an appointment with the local dealership and had this taken care off.when i was at the dealership i met a construction company owner and he saw me drive up inthetruck.he asked if i have had any trouble with the fuel injections.i advised him i have not noticed any difference in the fuel economy or leaking fuel.he had three duramax diesels and all of them had fuel injection problems.however, all of them were slightly over the mileage limit to be covered under the factory warranty.since then i questioned if there was something wrong with the fuel injection.i recently had to putthe truck in the shop to service the transmission and the shop placed it on the computer and noticed a fuel injectionerror code.i called the dealership afterwards to get a round about estimate before i tookthe truck in for repair and thetechnician advised me that each fuel injector would cost $400.00 plus labor on each fuel injector for complete overall.lets just say i wasstill drivingthe truck un repaired.can you please look into this and see if you have received any other complaints regarding thisproblem.
Vehicle wouldn't drive over 15 mph as if i lost all of my torque. Mechanic looked at vehicleto see what was wrong and found out multiple issues including: front and rear brakes barely working, master cylinders messed up, oil leaks, transmission leaks, coolant leaks, control arms have rusted out on both sides but we're welded (which makes them weaker) i've broken down 4 times in a week in this vehicle but my contractor in its in me driving it.
Door lock isnot working on drivers side of chevy s-10 2002 , i want to see if my vehicle is on listfor repair of this problem.

I have a 2002 chevrolet silverado z71 4x4 p/u with a 5.3 liter engine, at.the transmission/transfer case makes a loud clunk when shifting into reverse.also the truck makes a clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and the same clunk when downshifting.i've taken it twice to the dealership and they said yes, the transfer case seems sloppy but is within "acceptable limits."the second time, they greased the driveshaft splines as a result of a service bulletin but the problem still exists.i'm frustrated and tired of the clunking noises and frustrated that chevy will not fix the problem.numerous other truck owners have posted the same problems on various web sites and are frustrated also.my truck only has 15,000 miles on it and i'm concerned that the problem is progressing and will get out of warrenty then get so bad, i have to pay for it.what can i do?
I bought my truck used in january 2004,at exactly 51,000 miles truck made a loud pop underneath while turning on road.i lost my reverse, second and overdrive gears.1st works okay, and sometimes it would jump into 3rd.havn't drove the truck since then and my dealer expects me to pay a diagnostic fee and price for transmission.i have had the truck, about 13 months.i am contacting gm to see what they tell me.i have so far seen numerous complaints with this same problem.the sun reaction shell.gm bulletin says that the shell wasnt heat treated enough in 2002 years and will break.but no recall.

Transmission failure.
My husband was driving home, heard a loud pop and the transmission failed - would not go in reverse, made a loud noise even in neutral and park.after tearing down the transmission, found that the reaction sunshell had gone bad.i found that several different mechanics/dealerships have repaired this problem in an unusually high volume.updated part issued but no recall.truck has just over 60000 miles - just out of warranty.have to make payment of $1600 to have fixed.getting the runaround from gm.purchased the truck used just 10 months ago from a certified gm used car dealer.why if a know problem, wasn't it fixed before being sold?
The gear position sensor on the side of the allison transmission failed in traffic during rainy conditions causing the transmission to quit working.i was able to get to the side of the road and get the transmission to shift into default second and make it to a repair shop where i got the part replaced hopefully with an improved part. My truck is a 2002 chevrolet k2500.
On the yolk, we have had this on order since 9-11-2001 at rock chevrolet in derby, ks .they say that gm has a back log of needs for these parts.these parts are nickle plated. They are special made to order parts.when driving down the road, going from 1st to any other gear, the truck clinks.i am afraid that something is going to go wrong.we use this truck for hunting and we go to real bad fields and canyons.my wife has a brain injury, and is scared that the truck is falling apart.i do not know if this could pose a problem with the transmission or other parts by clinking like this.i bought a brand new truck because i wanted my wife to feel safe, and of course be safe.on the nurf bars.this is the only way that my wife, with also rsd, can get in the truck.that is why we purchased them from advantage customs in wichita, ks.about 1 week after they installed them(bolting up to original frame, no drilling of any kind), we heard a creak after going over a speed bump at my work.it has gotten worse.so we took it to davis-moore in wichita, and rock cheverlot in derby.they both say that it is because of the frames on the 2002 will not handle the bars.so i contacted gm and they told me that this is wrong.they said that it must be installed wrong.so i contact advantage customs and they said bull!!they are unwilling to take the bars off and put on running boards (which davis-moore & rock cheverlot said would solve the problem) unless we pay for it.all i know is that this is not right.you buy a brand new vehicle and expect a few problems, but with the warranty on the vehicle, it is fixed.but to take this long, and to get nothing but run arounds on i feel potentional series problems, is crazy.my wife has a brain injury and rsd.she drives the truck to dr. Appts. And run erronds.she is scared the truck is going to fall apart.how can i tell her that it will not when no one can tell me if it will.please call me for more information. *
Differental locks so hard that truck cannot be turned in safe and resonable manor

Service brakes, hydraulic:antilock. My pickup truck 2002 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd experiences unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation at speeds less than 20 mph. Same as nhtsa recall # 05v37900. That recall is for only silverados not silverado 2500 hd. There is a current problem that exists on my truck and should be looked into. I have lived in michigan the whole time i have owned this truck. The brakes pulse at lower speeds and i have to allow for extra stopping distance to make sure i don't hit someone else. Same issue as nhtsa recall 05v37900. Vehicle has not been fixed yet, if you would want to check this out on a vehicle that is currently having this problem you are welcome to check it out.
Undercarriage steel brake lines ruptured caused by road salt corrosion resulting in total loss of brakes.

Anti-lock brakes come on when stopping at slow speeds 3-10 mph vehicle anti-lock brake light is not coming on chevy has recalled vehicle in 14 other states, campaign #05v37900.
2002 silverado.abs system engaging when slowing causing vehicle not to stop.
Bought a 2002 silverado and the abs light came on.took to dealer, said it was the module.1800.00 to fix, after spending 13000.00 on truck, i dont think so.ak
Abs light stays on antilock brake module is defective brakes lock up you have no brakes.
(1) antilock brakes engaging when not necessary (2) when brakes were applied the antilock brakes were engaged making normal braking less effective and because of this problem, one time pulling into our driveway when applying brakes, the truck didn't stop in time and was smashed into the back of another truck sitting in driveway(3) the truck was taken to get this problem fixed which required the installation of a new speed sensor on driver's front side which was broke in half and a gm sensor operation on both front bearings was performed.
I purchased a 2002 chevrolet pickup (vehical serial # 1gcek14w82z42909 ) in august of 2002 from whitaker & son, sidney, n. Y.on 10/ 31/o3.i was purchasing tires from kost tire. Binghamton, n.y. And wasnotifiedthat rear brake rotor was deteriortating.i then took the truck (26,744 mileage) back to whitaker and sonand the deteriorating rotor and brake work was accomplished on 11/6/03 under warranty. I was told that this brake system deteriorationwas not unusal. I was told that general motors was frantically working on the problem and it was only occurring in the n.e., u.s.a. Where a lot of salt is used on the roads in the winter to deice the roads. Then in may 2005 i heard a grinding sound when the brakes were applied.i therefore brought the truck (mileage 62,058 miles) back to whitaker and the rear brake rotors & pads were replaced. I contacted general motors and then whitaker andi was told this brake problem was in all makes of vehicles with rear disc brkaes in the northeast u.s.a.from the year 1999- 2004.i did pay the whitaker & son, inc.bill for the brake problem on 7/14/05.i have talked to 2 other mechanics cocnerning this problem and they said it was occurring.they were replacing a lot of rusted and pitted rear discbrake rotors.paul vetrone, vetrone motor sales, e. Front st. In hancock, n.y. (vehicle repair and towing)said rotor repladcement is occurring quite systematically every 20,000 miles or so.also my sonuses a chevy pickup 2004 and the rear brake rotor deteriorated on this company vehicle after only 18,000miles.general motors advertises the the pickups as being stong "llike a rock" put does not inform anyone that they will most likely be replacing rear disc brake rotors every 18,000 to 26,000 miles.the operators manuel does not say to replace the rear disc brake rotors every 18,000.

Cables holding tailgate broke -both.
Wheel bearing on 2002 chevrolet 2500hd 4x4 4dr. Replaced three of them and on my fourth from dealer.
Dealer installed hypertech power programmer iii which is "illegal for sale or use in the state of california", without my consent or knowledge, on a brand new 2002 chevrolet silverado truck. Vehicle also was modified with parts not approved by general motor during new car manufacturers warranty and prior to new vehicle sale and registration.
The gas pedal sticks.from a stop, you have to push hard on the pedal to get it to "break free".this causes the motor to rev to over 2200 rpm, jerking forward or backward, as the case may be.when crusing at any speed for any length of time, the pedal will "stick", and great force must be applied to change speeds.
The windshield wipers failed while the vehicle was on the road during a snowstorm.it appears that the linkage from the driver side wiper to the passenger side wiper may have failed.the failure occurred because snow being wiped on the downward cycle of the wiper is pushed into an area where the wiper arm is designed to fit, causing an obstruction to the movement of the wiper arm.had this failure occurred due to the driver neglecting to remove built-up snow from the area prior to placing the vehicle into service, i would not complain.however, this failure occurred due to snow that built up while the vehicle was in service on the road.in order to prevent this from recurring while operating the vehicle in similar conditions, the operator will have to periodically stop the vehicle to remove the snow build-up in the area of impingement between the wiper arm and the faring it fits into.this action represents some risk to the operator if done on the roadside.not taking this risk however causes the operator to risk damage to his vehicle as well as loosing the use of the wipers.
