Truck was in accident involving two other vehicles that hit at 45 mph.first hit was head on and the second hit was a t-bone on passenger side.airbags did not deploy in my vehicle, nor in the 2001chevy tahoe that tboned me.
The vehicle experienced problems with the alternator/burned out along with the distributor,tail gate plate lights, steering column had come apart, seat belts, door locks/were intermittent, windshield wipers, the rims caused the tires to wear/four rims had warped, and the bed liner had peeled off. *mr *scc
1) my wife and i were coming home from dining out.we was turning on walton ferry road when we heard this loud noise coming from under the hood.2) when we reached home i pulled in the drive and shut the engine off. I went to restart my engine it would not start.3) replaced starter which had locked up. Replaced starter relay which was the main factor for this failure. The starter relay will try to start the engine even if the key is out.
I have 2001 8.1 chevy 1 ton,had 3 crankshaft sensors replaced! 4 years never had a problem with 3 one!!!martys gmc replaced it!!(recalled) wanted old 1 back,they said no? 2 days before my 1 year warranty crank sensor failed! i scanned it myself, next day was saturday,brian kelly service manager said get it in here today, cause sunday it's up!! so if i had it towed $200 later(part$60) i had many problem with martys gmc kingston mass,i"m all done with gm bad quality with dealers like them i will spend my next$40000, on ford!!!!! wish i had the reps #(gmc).
Catalytic converter problems - no power, bogs down when stopped

Dt*: the contact stated that while driving the vehicle the fuel line constantly spewed gas from the rear of the vehicle. This occurred at various speeds.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined the causeof the problem was due to rats chewing on the fuel line.the vehicle was taken to a couple other independent mechanics who determined that it was caused by a stress fracture.the dealer replaced the fuel line.updated 1/10/2007 - the consumer has the old part in his possession, part # 15126980.

In january of '05, the fuel gauge on my 2001 chevy tahoe quit working.it shows empty all of the time.this also causes my low fuel light to come on, and the check engine light to be on.

Parking brake will not work. The trucks were recalled, because they are a standard. Tahoes were not even though they are the same parking brake. My parking brake not working is dangerous when i park on a hill or when i need the extra safety.it has also affected my reverse due to parking on a hill and then putting it in gear.it is now very loud to put it in gear.truck recall #05042

On dec 3, 2002 while drivingmy chevy tahoe on the interstate,the drivers seat malfunctioned. This resulted in the seat moving automatically and uncontrolablyto the extreme forward position and pinning me in the car. Fortunately, i was able to get the vehicle off of the roadsafely and, after turning the vehicle off and restarting, the seat still would not respond. I had extreme difficulty in getting out of the vehicle - this is quite serious. I think gmoragencies other than gm should look into this defect because of the obvious potential for very serious injury. I shudder to think if a pregnant woman or a very large person were behind the wheel when the seat malfunctioned and could not free themselves from the crushing force of the seat. I was lucky!!!i certainly do not wish to drive this vehicle while not knowing what type of unexpected danger i am subjecting myself to.
Potential for fatal accidents.the 2001 chev. 1500 silverado i drive has poor brakes to the extent that the brake pedal can be depress to a point below the level of the accelerator pedal.several times when backing and looking out the back window i have applied the brakes and hit the accellerator pedal at the same time.this causes the asb system to acctivate.when taken to the dealer they tell me that the brake pedel travel is no greater than any other vehilce of the same make and model.two of my sons drive the chev suburuban and complain of poor brakes as well.
When applying brakes while driving over bumps abs system activates, causing extended stopping distance on dry pavement.the dealer removed the abs fuse to correct the extended stopping problem.
Unable to stop at low speeds. Replaced brakes and still have the problem

The brake pedal location is approximately 3 1/2 inches higher than gas pedal, so that during emercency stopping the foot could get caught under the brake pedal.*mjs

During a 5 mph crash the front bumper broke away.*mjs
Tailgate cable broke on passenger side of my 2001 chevy silverado. That caused the tailgate to drag on the road for about 30 feet. I replaced the cable but can't find the receipt now that i seen that nhtsa is looking into this. I'm writing today to document the damage, gouged paint and metal on right side of tailgate plus the cable i bought.
Rear axle has broken 3 times in less than 4000 miles. Last incident occurred while driving, almost causing a collision.
