Van failed to start--towed to dealership--diesel mechanic changed fuse and put me back on road. Next day fuse blows again leaving me with no power steering and no power brakes on a major expressway--van is towed on an undersized tow vehicle to the dealership--we almost didn't make it due to the wheels of the tow vehicle coming off ground when a big truck passed us on the right hand side---could not communicate with tow truck driver--he spoke no english!!! dealership keeps vehicle twenty two hours--calls me to pick up van--on arrival the assistant service manager tells me that cheverlet or general motors technical support has directed them to install two fuses downstream of the main fuse and now they are placing the vehicle back on the road without actually finding the problem!!! as i get in the van and turn the ingnition switch to start--the fuse blows--now they know which leg of the circuit the problem is in---and within minutes find a screw into the wiring harness---they tape up the area and put me back on the road---the van is not running right and the "service engine soon light" comes on---i call the dealership and talk to the main mechanic--he tells me not to worry--"many things can cause that light to come on"---i notice my fuel consumption is extremely high--i go under the van and find this same wiring harness disconnected from two devices--the harness hanging loose out of the supporting straps and open wires outside of the protective plastic raceway in the area of a moving linkage on the transmission---there is some electrical tape wrapped around the exposed wires telling me that someone saw this and just halfassed it--i brought the van on same day --satruday--back to the dealer and spoke to the main mechanic who last worked on the problem--he would not look at it--said bring it back monday for the diesel mechanic to straighten it out--this was in front of the assistant service manager who knew the entire story. No safety defect (s).

98 through present chevrolet g3500 vans with 6.5 engine .engine oil cooler line leaks onto left front brake hose

Hydraulic brake systemthe brakes are horrible, i have even took the truck to be worked on several times and they still are no better. When slowing down or stopping the pedal will go to the floor and will not slow down much. I have to brake at least 2 blocks before coming to a complete stop. I would not be able to stop at an accident, resulting in taking the ditch if need be. My family does not travel in the truck because of this reason. I have to replace tires every year and replace brake pads and shoes every 6 months or so.

When the parking brake was applied, the rear left emergency brake would not release.required to crawl under truck and beat brake arm into release position.left side emergency brake cable was replaced.

Whenattempting to brake, the brake pedal went completely to the floor, causing me to swerve into the other lane. No warning lights, no soft pedal..........nothing. Had the truck towed to a repair shop. All the brake lines were severely rusted and had to be replaced at a cost of nine hundred eighty dollars. The shop owner stated that this is a common problem with chevrolettrucks from 1999 to 2004 and that he averages about one a week. The new lines were made of stainless steel, not the inferior grade metal lines thatchevrolet installed on the truck when manufactured.although i have always owned chevrolet trucks in the past, i am outraged that gm would put profits above public safety and will never buy any gm product again.

I can not stop as the anti-lock brake sensors are malfuctioning. The chevrolet dealer says it's from too much salt on the roads causing excessive rust which in turn causes the sensors to malfunction.the vehicle is unfit to drive as is. Maybe a lawsuit is what they need to address the issue. I brought it to my local garage.their computer read that when the vehicle was stopped all fourabs sensors read 3 mph?this is a very dangerous situation for anyone driving such a vehicle.i have almost hit many people in parking lotsand vehicles in front of me at intesections when applying the brakes at low speed. Something need to be done!

Under a normal stop in city driving under dry conditions my abs brakes engages and has almost caused me not to stop behind other cars. After contacting chevy dealer and chevy they the recall for the abs sensor does not apply to my state (but it does other states). My mechanic cleaned and verified. Problem solved at my expense.

The anti-lock brake system (abs) was so sensitive that driving over a bump caused the brakes to release and it was hard to regain of the vehicle, on one occasion, while driving over a bump while braking, the abs kicked in and released the brakes, rear ending another vehicle.

Our 2000 chevy truck lost all brakes in a period of one week from the start of unusual service. According to chevy service it is a common problem. The culprit part was the abs sensor which rusts leading to rapid brake failure. Brakes were slightly intermittent and went to total loss w/o any appreciable lag time.

The front brake pads and rear shoes have failed on several occasions, causing damage to drums and rotors, possible problem with the brake system to cause excessive wear. Nlm

I am being told by both the dealer where i purchased my truck and an independent garage i trust, that i need to replace my brake rotors as they are rusted and pitted to the point of not functioning as designed and could eventually be dangerous as they deteriorate. The dealer is not saying that but is recommending replacement as my responsibility even though this truck is a 2000 with only 40,546 miles. The independent has told me that he has seen a number of gm trucks of this age with seriously pitted rotors as the metal allows rust pitting to eat through the metal this could become a serious hazard and seems to be an isolated problem to this model ( silverado) and 2000 at least and perhaps other years. Since this has not been a problem on any of my other vehicles, i have to believe that something was wrong with gm specifications of the metal for these rotors. I don't believe this is an expense that should be mine as the metal defect was the manufacturers fault.
