Low speed collision and false deployment of air bags resulting in damage to vehicle and burns to arms and face.

Vehicle's air bag light keeps illuminating on the dashboard.*mrthe consumer is very concerned about the air bag light. This is a very harzardous and safety problem. The consumer is suggesting that research be found out about the vehicle or whether or not a recall needs to be done.

On december 12, 1998 i was in an accident in which i rear ended another vehicle. As i followed the other driver to a near by parking lot to evaluate the damage my air bags both driver and passenger sides went off.i believe they failed in their primary function due to the fact that they didnt inflate until about 3 to 5 minutes after the accident when we were pulling off the road. When they finally did eject and inflate the passenger side air bag cover blew out and shattered my winshield causing an additional $412worth of damage!!! i am just glad it wasnt a serious accident because then they would of been totally useless. I truely believe that the airbags were inoperable and caused me an additional $412in the cost of my repairs to my vehicle.i also believe that due to the fact they were not operating correctly i should be intitled to some sort of retribution. False deployment of air bags caused damage to vehicle (undercarriage) when consumer had to drive off road.

While driving at any speed and with no warning seatbelt and air bag light will light up intermittently. Dealer notified.

The car has front airbags, the rear seat folds down to extend the trunk area. This can be done by pulling the strap with one finger . Where do isafely secure a rear facing infant car seat and a two month old child? in calling the dealer i was told of the complicated lengthy process required to get permission to remove the airbag. Then there is a $500 charge which i can't afford. Can she safely ride in this new car tomorrow? which is worse a minor rear end accident which could drop the seaton top of the car seat and child, or an accident capable of deploying the airbag and probably causing the seat to drop.

Approxiamately 2 months into owning the vehicle the problems started. First the seat belt covers snapped off, i've had to have the steering stabilizers replaced 3 times already, the air conditioner which is rarely used failed at about 55-60,000 miles, the battery busted and leaked on the entire right side under hood, the jack was warped, the gas guage reads incorrectly, the sunroof stopped working after 30000 miles, dash rattles, glove box will not stay closed, pass seat gets stuck when you move it forward, the gas pedal gets stuck and you have to apply more force than usual to get it moving, drivers door does not close all the way, more air than normal comes into vehicle, thermostat failed at 30000 miles, installed sidewinder 6500 car alarm which failed to operate after the battery busted, plus numerous other problems not mentioned here.

The contact owned a 1998 chevrolet cavalier. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle hydroplaned on ice. As a result, the contact crashed into the guardrail. The air bags failed to deploy. (1) my cousin was driving her 1998 cavalier when she was struck head on by an oncoming vehicle(2) her driver's side chair broke lose and her seat belt came out of its fastener and the metal "hook" striking her body resulting in a laceration.her body was then throw forward with such great force that she hit the windshield with her head twice resulting in a concussion, black eye, swollen forehead and other cuts and bruises.additionally, at the point of impact, despite the force with which she was struck, her airbag failed to deploy which could have further prevented her striking the windshield.every safety device in this vehicle failed miserably resulting in serious injury.

Air bag stays on, 3 modules replaced, problem still present. Horn would not work with steering wheel straight, replaced cancelling cam. Ok. Car would not drive straight, replaced steering gear box, ok. A/c rumbles at idle when hot, replaced belt and tensioner, problem still present but not as loud. Dome light stays on, replaced alarm module, ok.

Had trouble with traction light. Car would lose traction even with new tirew all time brakes and car was totaled in car wreck, airbags did not come out, and daughter was hurt.it was a front and side and back hit at 55-60 mph, hitting a ramp direct and bouncing off, and hitting again on an interstate. Very upset that airbags did not come out, would of prevented maybe daughter from getting hurt so badly.

The vehicle hit a pot hole and the driver and passenger air bags deployed.

Attempting to start the vehicle, smoke came out the ignition and steering column.*phthe vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the ignition system.the dealer also indicated that the battery was bad and replaced it.after the repairs were made the consumer received a recall notice related tothe vehicle ignition system.the consumer request reimbursement for all repairs along with reimbursement for other expenses incurred.

The gas gauge is going haywire. It pegs to the "f", and then immediately pegs to the "e", even though the tank is half full. The gauge then jumps around the middle form one side to the other side. It is impossible to tell how much is in the tank. This happens while driving and also while sitting at lights or stop signs.

I have a 1998 chevrolet cavalier, i had my car for 4 yrs, when i bought the car the next month the coils burn out and had to be replace. I had my car fixed 7 times for the same thing. I still have a car note and my car still isn't running, i can't trade it in because the market value is low and my negative equity is too high. I have put almost $6,000 dollars in repairs in my car and still owe $5,000.00, i don't know what to do. My credit is bad because i have been late on my car note trying to get the car fix every other month. The electrical system is real bad, the cords burn out twce, i had every cinsor in my car replace, i had two new batteries in the last year. Everything under my hood is almost brand new and my car just broke down again, and i just got it out the shop 1 month ago. I need help in regards to this situation.

All lights including all electrical components failed.

Ignition switch, or anti theft system, causes fuel pump to not work properly and also fuel injectors, been in garage 3 times and finally was told the problem after spending hundreds of dollars, was told gm had a recall on this part.

I have replaced the rear drivers side brake light/turn signal 6 times. I have had the circuit board replaced. The housing, the socket, and now they want to replace the connector. Today my rear passenger brake light/turn signal went out and upon inspection the bulb had melted in the socket. This is posing a hazard to me. No brake lights, or turn signals in the rear.

All i have to say about this car is it is a piece of junk. I have had mine for almost two years now and in this two years i have had to put about 7,000 dollars of work into it. As of right now my car is sitting 200 hundred miles away on the side of the highway because the wiring to my starter keeps blowing my starters up. And as far as im concerned the car can stay there. I'm not even going to bother going to get it. Someone else can bar the burden that comes with that car! im done!

The interior lights are inoperative, the headlights go off while driving at night causing loss of visibility and the radio has been replaced 3 times, the dealer replaced a shorted fuse, the multifunction control module, multifunction alarm and fuse and the drivers side door jamb switch but the problems still exist.nlm

Consumer stated the vehicle was parked and shut off.without warning, thevehicle caught on fire from the steering column. Dealer notified.consumer woke to ignition running. Ignition was in off position with the keys removed. Request of restitution for repairs made to a 1998 chevrolet cavalier. *mr the consumer was not informed that a pinion bearing was also replaced because of a recall.the consumer also had problems with the rack and pinion locking up. *scc the consumer also stated the battery was replaced.

Dt: the consumer replaced thebattery twice in two years before receivingrecall o4v036000 notice concerning the ignition switch in march 2004. The owner made an appointment to have the repair work done.the dealer installed a relay kit and recharged the battery. The vehicle was taken home and worked fine for three or four weeks. The owner continued to have problems with the battery draining, and having to jump start the vehicle.the battery was replaced at least one other time in november 2004. The owner talked with the dealer but was unsuccessful in getting the vehicle repaired under recall. The dealer actually wanted to charge for checkingas to why the battery was draining instead of replacing the ignition switch as stated in the recall notice.owner has talked with ronald berkan at general motors, who contacted the dealer and was told that the kit was placed in the vehicle as required by the recall. Mr. Berkan also stated that the ignition switch was not involved. There was nothing else that gm would do under this recall.consumer is afraid that if recall work is not performed the ignition switch could cause a fire.still having problems and now has to jump start vehicle every 24 hours.

There has been one thing wrong after the other ever since i bought this car and i believe it a piece of crap but i guess that i am stuck up it since chevrolet declined my buyback request.

Having the horn not work whenanother vehicle pulls out on me is a serious matter which should be looked into. Everytime the oil is changed on the car they come back and tell me the transmission is leaking again. Obviously replacing the shaft seal is not fixing the problem especially when it leaks again 3000 miles in between dealership visits. Having a constant gasoline and sulfer odor emitting from the vehicle worries me especially considering i have two very young children.when brought up to the dealership they will not look into the matter anymore unless a engine light is on. This vehicle will shortly run out of warranty and i believe general motors has blown off my letters, phonecalls and e-mailsknowing this. Car is a complete lemon made with poor quality. It is unrealible and a constant headache. No safety defect listed.

Check engine light came on while the vehicle was running rough.when the driver pulled off the road to check the oil, the vehicle shut off. Dealer noticed that the problem was due to two bad spark plugs.

On september 3, 2002, i tried starting the car in the morning around 11:15 am. The car did not start after multiple attempts. The car was left in the apartment parking lot. The car door was opened around 2:00 pm and black smoke came out all over from inside the car. There was a fire flame on the dash-board from the hole inside the steering. The car caught on fire as it received oxygen from the wind blowing. Immediately 911 was called. Fire department came down within 5 minutes and blew out the fire. A police complaint was filed. Also we contacted general motors and they inspected the car after the fire. Finally gm accepted full responsibility for the failure after 14 business days. Gm reimbursed our insurance company all the expenses incurred.dt

Both front struts started to leak and failed to function properly causing temporary loss of control on wet or rough roads.

While turning right consumer was unable to steer.this caused the vehicle to stall.consumer restarted the vehicle, and took itto the dealer for inspection.the cause of the problemhad not been determined.

My car statred to run rough about3 months after buying it. Towed it to the dealer, they replaced the ignition coil at 42,008 on oct 29 2001.on feb.14 2002 they same prblem occured at 48,000 miles.ignition coils needed to be replaced again.there has to be a prblem somewhere as i was told that you might have to replace the coil only once in a cars life and this is the second time in only 6,000 miles!could someone please look into this.

When the weather began to warm up last summer my car started to have problems starting.i would turn the key and my engine would turn and turn but not fire correctly.after a few tries, it would finally start up.i didn't think any thing of this problem at first, but after a while it started misfiring like this quite freqently after the weather began to get really warm and humid outside and i had previously driven my vehicle that day.i have had all the recalls fixed on my car, including the recall for the ignition switch, but this problem with starting my car still persisted.one day i went out to my car and it didn't start at all and it ended up my battery had died and i don't know if this had anything to do with the above stated problem, but i'm sure the rough starts were not good on my battery either.i finally made an appointment with the local chevrolet dealer after i had them install a new battery and they kept it for a couple days and couldn't find anything wrong with it.not suprisingly, the day after i got my car back, it started rough again.i bought one of those manuals that helps you identify and correct automobile problems yourself, so i have replaced coolant sensors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and fluids, but the problem still persisted.it is now february 2005 and the weather is cooler outside and i haven't had any problems thus far.i'm afraid when it starts to get warmer outside, though, that i'll begin to have this problem again.is there any help that i can get with this problem?are there any recalls or has anybody else had the same problem?thank you for any help.

When vehicle is first started it would stall out.rpms would rev up from zero, andvehicle stalled.had taken to dealer first time, and mechanic changedspark plugs. Problem reoccurred twice since then, 2 months later.

Ever since we've bought this vehicle there's been nothing but problems.while backing out of the driveway it will stall out and shut off.in feb of 2000 the spark plugs needed to be replaced.the gas gauge flucuates.it will show 1/4 tank of gas left and ten minutes later the check gas light comes on and the gauge drops.some kind of electrical wire on the front drivers side went bad.the driver's side door won't shut any more, the latch needs to be replaced.it's like every 3 ot 4 months something wither minor or significant goes wrong with it and persoanlly i am sick of it.i believe that my car is a lemon and i want to do something about it.

This car has been in the family for most of its life. When my sister bought it. She would have trouble with it starting up. She would have to try several times before it would finally start up. Im not sure of the problem. I was told it could be the ignition switch. But this has been replaced twice. Recall notice received regarding ignition switch failure. *mr the consumer requested reimbursement.recall# 04v036000.the consumers vehicle required a new ignition switch, starter and battery.the starter was replaced under warranty.it appeared that the electrical components had a short service span in this make/model. *sc the consumers bill totaled over seven hundred dollars, but was sent a check for 136.62 for the part which pertained to the recall.

Recall 04v036000 concerning ignition switch failure. After taking the vehicleto dealerfor recall repairs the vehicle didnot start. Consumerhad to have the vehicle towed to the dealer to do recall repairs again.

Nhtsa recall 04v036000 on the ignition switch . After having the relay kit replaced,the consumer was unable to start the vehicle. The consumer had a remote starter installed and was told it was the ignition switch that was faulty.*tc

Vehicle will not crank, no power to starter.dealer replaced ignition switch. There is a recall 02v070000 regarding replacement of the ignition switch for previous models, however consumer's vehicle is not included in recall.

I have had my 1998 chevrolet cavalier for almost 5 years now; in feb. 2003 i had to pay 321.25 to have an ignition switch replaced in my car (which was an recall issue); i asked martin burks chevrolet on forest park parkway in forest park, ga if the ignition problem was a recall issue and bob allen, the auto part service manager lied to me and stated that it was not a recall issue, so i paid $321.25 for repair service to find out a year later that the ignition system problem was a recall issue.so i want to inform you that chevrolet has auto repair service centers with workers that lies to consumers just to take their money.at this present time, my 1998 chevrolet cavalier will not start because something is blocking the fuel from reach the motor/engine (which is another recall problem) but not according to the chevrolet manufacturer; my wheels feels as if they are wobbling sometimes; and my steering column is making a squeaking sound when i turn it left or right.by putting in the vin number, ifound out that there has been four recalls on this vehicle, but the manufacturer states that there has been only one recall, someone is again lying and i don't believe it is the carfax report.i feel that gm should extend the warranties on their vehicles longer than they do because their vehicles are learned to be defective before a lifetime of 5 years is up (pre years lifespan) for any vehicle and the consumer should not be made to purchase the warranties, but gmpp (general motors protection plan) should reissue an extended warranty when someone have had as many problems with their vehicles as i have within these last two years.i feel that these headaches and expenses could have been avoided if martin burks had fixed my car the first time; i also feels that martin burks chevrolet is an untrustworthy service center.i will also be contacting the better business bureau to inform them of the unsatisfied service i have had with martin burks chevrolet service center.

Nhtsa 04v036000\ ignition \switch.while the vehiclewas parked on the driveway it caught on fire. The next door neighbor ran and remove the batteryfrom the vehicle.the fire was coming from the driver side dashboard.the local fire department extinguished the fire.the vehicle was taken tot he dealer to get the remedy done.the problem with the ignition switch still occurs. The cavalier was driven to work by my daughter on 11-09-98.she parked the car and locked it and went to work at the after school day care for the ymca.about 5 minutes later, a parent entered and asked who owned the cavalier because smoke was coming from it's engine.by the time my daughter ran outside the car had burst into flames.the school custodians tried to put the fire out with fire extinguishers but they were only successful in putting out the flames that ran from my car to 2 others.the fire department was called and they determined that the fire started in the engine due to either faulty electrical or gas lines.i have contacted gm and they have had their inspector look at the car on 11-16-98.since the inspector looked at the car, their customer service representative jenny yurenka will not return my phone calls.a receptionist informed me that it will take gm another 14 days to determine what to do with a car that bursts into flames for no apparent reasons.

The wiring on my 1998 cavlier wore thrugh and shorted out ignition and other accessories.i paid dealer to make repairs the same problem has now happened to my daughter's 1998 cavalier at about the same mileagethe dealer she is talking to says the problem was caused by the clip that retains the wiring harness and they state the defect is not covered bythe extended warranty, chevrolet customer service refuses to talk because she has an extended warranty it seems to me that there is a problem with the way chevrolet supports the wiring harness under the dash if in one family the same defect developsat about the same mileage, on the make, and model of vehicle. Ever since we've bought this vehicle there's been nothing but problems.while backing out of the driveway it will stall out and shut off.in feb of 2000 the spark plugs needed to be replaced.the gas gauge flucuates.it will show 1/4 tank of gas left and ten minutes later the check gas light comes on and the gauge drops.some kind of electrical wire on the front drivers side went bad.the driver's side door won't shut any more, the latch needs to be replaced.it's like every 3 ot 4 months something wither minor or significant goes wrong with it and persoanlly i am sick of it.i believe that my car is a lemon and i want to do something about it.

Pattern of overheating and vehicle failures in 98 cavaliers.a second car with the same problems is now being reviewed right next to mine at fox chevrolet timonium. 410-667-6666.car with 100,049 milesoverheated for first time after ordinary flush and fill 2 days prior.(the serpentine belt and an oil change were also performed following a complaint of smelling antifreeze no other evidence of any cooling problems)following the overheating, the car was promptly pulled over within 2 miles and flatbedded back to the service station.after replacing the thermostat and water pump (signs of low coolant flow - temperature differential in the upper and lower hoses) car continued to overheat.the car was flatbedded to the dealer:no leaks or damage were found in the heater core, radiator, head gasket, or cylinder head.dealer conclusion is that there are micro cracks inside the engine because engine gases are mixing with the antifreeze, although oil is not entering the cooling system.dealer insists only possible repair is an entire engine replacement.

Ever since i bought my car brand new, i have had issues with the engine stalling on hills or inclines.my car will start to feel as if it's going to stall, and the rpm's jump up as if i am accelerating the gas, but since this normally only happens on hills, when i apply the brakes, my car will not stop, b/c the rpm's are still high, then that's when the car stalls, and of course my steering wheel locks, and i cannot stop without using the e-brake, or put it back into neutral and restart it. I have no warranty left since it has expired, however, i had taken my vehicle to the dealership and they always said nothing was wrong.i have small children, and it's not fair that this defect has "slipped" through the cracks for this long.something must be done before owners of this car get injured or killed!i am also having a rack and pinion problem, but gmac said that my car didn't come from the plant with the defective parts!well, i think it did.my car has been unreliable more often than not.every time ihave drive down a hill, i say a prayer.this happens about 2-3 times/week.my steering is so bad from the defective rack and pinion, that i can't turn my steering wheel until the car has been running for about 15 mins.(when it's cold out).gmac has failed to take my concerns serious, it's sad that a company i paid all my hard earned money to, can't even make/or fix an unsafe vehicle!and i also have the recalled dex coolant, but you have to have paid for the damages and repairs in order to get reimbursed! they need to fix all the affected cars, not just the ones people have paid to already have it fixed!

This e-mail is in regards to my 1998 cavalier rs.this car has been nothing but trouble since i bought it on june 29, 1998.just 14 months after i purchased the car, the clutch goes out.then it goes out four times thereafter.a total of five times my clutch has went out. The reason i purchased a brand new automobile was for the dependency of the chevrolet product.i was mistaken in my thinking obviously. That dates of having to replace the clutch master cylinder are as follows:08/29/99, 04/05/01, 08/09/01, 10/17/01, 06/26/03.i understand things go wrong with vehicles, but five times on the same problem.(no the clutch is not being ridden.)thankfully i have reimbursment towing on my insurance, considering i was miles away from a chevrolet dealership. Also, the engine light came on july 20, 1999 (13 months after i bought the car).my receipt states all the cylynders were misfiring.on november 21, 2001 my catatylic converter had to be replaced.(don't ever go on a trip in this car!) all the work stated above was done by chevrolet dealerships.the car is paid for now and they received all of their money out of me.i just hope this doesn't happen to someone else. The car is equipped with an internal anti-theft system, which, as stated in the owner's manual if the correct key is not used to start the car, fuel is cut off to the engine.the theft system light on the dashboard then flashes, and you are unable to start the car for (as i found out on my own) exactly 10 minutes.since i purchased the car brand new 5 years ago. This scenario has happened to me dozens of times.i start the car (with the correct key, of course) and the car does not start-the theft system light blinks on and off for 10 minutes, and i can not start the car during this time...if you attempt to start the car during this time, you are forced to wait even longer before the light stops flashing and you can restart the engine.on the occasions that i brought the car back to the dealer, they either told me nothing was wrong, or they thought it was the external alarm, or they just said it was fixed...meanwhile, they had no idea what the feature was-i had to tell them that it was described in the owner's manual.long story short, this theft system has caused me to be late for work numerous times, and has caused many inconveniences for me!over the last few months, it has been happening more and more frequently.i spoke to the manufacturer and the dealer, and neither were aware of the feature, or the problems associated with it.the dealer said to bring it in, but for me to take a day off from work is difficult-especially since they probably won't fix a thing.i am desperate for some help with what i consider a major defect in this car! dt

Obviously replacing the shaft seal is not fixing the problem especially when it leaks again 3000 miles in between dealership visits. 1998 cavalier check engine light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer to determine what was causing the check engine light to illuminate.the diagnostic test determined that the egr valve was sticking and needed to be replaced.the egr valve failed at 142,673 miles and again at 175,055.when the consumer looked at the service invoice it stated that there was a lifetime warranty on the egr valve.the consumer requested reimbursement from the manufacturer since the part had a lifetime warranty.

Approxiamately 2 months into owning the vehicle the problems started. First the seat belt covers snapped off, i've had to have the steering stabilizers replaced 3 times already, the air conditioner which is rarely used failed at about 55-60,000 miles, the battery busted and leaked on the entire right side under hood, the jack was warped, the gas guage reads incorrectly, the sunroof stopped working after 30000 miles, dash rattles, glove box will not stay closed, pass seat gets stuck when you move it forward, the gas pedal gets stuck and you have to apply more force than usual to get it moving, drivers door does not close all the way, more air than normal comes into vehicle, thermostat failed at 30000 miles, installed sidewinder 6500 car alarm which failed to operate after the battery busted, plus numerous other problems not mentioned here.

My air conditioner had a smell of urine about 6 t0 8 months after i purchsed it, i took it back in the service dept, they said that the ac need flushing, they fixed it by flushing the ac, but the smell has returned again, i believe there is a defect in the cooling system, i plan to take it back in asap , but i know this time i will have to pay to get it fixed this time, and i don't think that this would be fair, because i don't think that i am the only one who has had this problem.

Air bag stays on, 3 modules replaced, problem still present. Horn would not work with steering wheel straight, replaced cancelling cam. Ok. Car would not drive straight, replaced steering gear box, ok. A/c rumbles at idle when hot, replaced belt and tensioner, problem still present but not as loud. Dealer replaced air conditioner compressor clutch plate because it was warped.we hardly ever use the air conditioner and the car only had 27,012 miles on it.when it was finally fixed w were past the 36 months for the warranty by 4 months and the car still only had 30,437 miles on it.how convenient for gm.

This is the third cavalier i have owned, and the last. Thought it was a great car, guess i was wrong. The radio has been replaced 3 times, the brakes 3 times (they wear funny), the seat broke and i fell into my 3 year old in the back seat. And chevrolet has once again stood by their word, i am the second owner of this car, so they will do nothing. What a company.

Cd players scratch cd's when first putting in, which gm admitted to in a letter.the third cd player not only scratches but skips erratically and tuner will not alway receive channels just static.

Approxiamately 2 months into owning the vehicle the problems started. First the seat belt covers snapped off, i've had to have the steering stabilizers replaced 3 times already, the air conditioner which is rarely used failed at about 55-60,000 miles, the battery busted and leaked on the entire right side under hood, the jack was warped, the gas guage reads incorrectly, the sunroof stopped working after 30000 miles, dash rattles, glove box will not stay closed, pass seat gets stuck when you move it forward, the gas pedal gets stuck and you have to apply more force than usual to get it moving, drivers door does not close all the way, more air than normal comes into vehicle, thermostat failed at 30000 miles, installed sidewinder 6500 car alarm which failed to operate after the battery busted, plus numerous other problems not mentioned here.

The cavalier was driven to work by my daughter on 11-09-98.she parked the car and locked it and went to work at the after school day care for the ymca.about 5 minutes later, a parent entered and asked who owned the cavalier because smoke was coming from it's engine.by the time my daughter ran outside the car had burst into flames.the school custodians tried to put the fire out with fire extinguishers but they were only successful in putting out the flames that ran from my car to 2 others.the fire department was called and they determined that the fire started in the engine due to either faulty electrical or gas lines.i have contacted gm and they have had their inspector look at the car on 11-16-98.since the inspector looked at the car, their customer service representative jenny yurenka will not return my phone calls.a receptionist informed me that it will take gm another 14 days to determine what to do with a car that bursts into flames for no apparent reasons.

I have had my 1998 chevrolet cavalier for almost 5 years now; in feb. 2003 i had to pay 321.25 to have an ignition switch replaced in my car (which was an recall issue); i asked martin burks chevrolet on forest park parkway in forest park, ga if the ignition problem was a recall issue and bob allen, the auto part service manager lied to me and stated that it was not a recall issue, so i paid $321.25 for repair service to find out a year later that the ignition system problem was a recall issue.so i want to inform you that chevrolet has auto repair service centers with workers that lies to consumers just to take their money.at this present time, my 1998 chevrolet cavalier will not start because something is blocking the fuel from reach the motor/engine (which is another recall problem) but not according to the chevrolet manufacturer; my wheels feels as if they are wobbling sometimes; and my steering column is making a squeaking sound when i turn it left or right.by putting in the vin number, ifound out that there has been four recalls on this vehicle, but the manufacturer states that there has been only one recall, someone is again lying and i don't believe it is the carfax report.i feel that gm should extend the warranties on their vehicles longer than they do because their vehicles are learned to be defective before a lifetime of 5 years is up (pre years lifespan) for any vehicle and the consumer should not be made to purchase the warranties, but gmpp (general motors protection plan) should reissue an extended warranty when someone have had as many problems with their vehicles as i have within these last two years.i feel that these headaches and expenses could have been avoided if martin burks had fixed my car the first time; i also feels that martin burks chevrolet is an untrustworthy service center.i will also be contacting the better business bureau to inform them of the unsatisfied service i have had with martin burks chevrolet service center.

Dt: the contact stated she there wasa crack in gas tank. If the contactfilledthe tank 3/4 full the tank leaked. The mechanic said it was a crack in the top of the tank. She noticed this a while back. She always kepttank full. Fuel gauge showed more fuel in tank than there really was-the car stalled on a busy highway showing 1/4 tank of gas when it was empty.

I have a z24 andmy car stalls out and turns off while drivingi have contacted a chevy dealer who stated that the cavalier's do, but my type of vehicle(z24) isn't affected.explained it is and they should see about this.and i would have to pay to get this fixed.also, when researching this information on the internet i have found many other customers who have had the same problem as i with my type of vehicle.why would 1 type of car of the same year have the problem and not all of them?it has the same components just designed a little different.

The gas gauge is going haywire. It pegs to the "f", and then immediately pegs to the "e", even though the tank is half full. The gauge then jumps around the middle form one side to the other side. It is impossible to tell how much is in the tank. This happens while driving and also while sitting at lights or stop signs.

The engine started having problems where it didn't want to move and the gas pump kept messing up and the gas needle doesn,t show correct it will say you have a half a tank when you really have a quarter tank, and the throttle sensor is messed up i was on i-4 which is a major highway in orlando in the middle of traffic the was on but loss power and stalled out.

Air bag stays on, 3 modules replaced, problem still present. Horn would not work with steering wheel straight, replaced cancelling cam. Ok. Oj rear back door came opened and the lock was on at the time. The door will not close, replace rt rear door lock assembly.rusted/corroded lubricated to free up, needs replacement, remove and replace rt rear door lock assy.

When turning a corner at approximately 20 mph, passenger's side door flew open and would not close. Dealerhad vehicle for 2 weeks, and still could not fix the defect properly, lock is not working correctly. *ml

Consumer shut the rear passenger side door on the occupant's finger which caused the door latch to jam, andoccupant could not open the door to take her finger out.the occupant had squeezed her finger out, and sustained injuries.when the finger was out of the door mechanism, the door was able to open and close.please provide further information.

The design of vehicle has an latch on the driver's side to release the hatchback, but does not have a release button / latch to open on the inside which caused two children to be stuck inside vehicle almost resulting in death, injury to hand due to failure.

After being driven 50 miles the car was parked on a slope of 6 inches in 24 feet. The parking brake was set and the manual transmission was in neutral. After 2 hours the car rolled backwards 75 yards, over a small tree and steel fence post and came to rest in a field of tall grass. Damage to the rear bumper was substantial. Closer investigation reveled that even tho the parking brake was set the car would roll. It appears that after the brakes cooled off for several hours they released the pressure against the rear brake drums and allowed the car to roll even tho the slope was very slight. The issue is that even tho the parking brake appears to be set it will allow the car to roll after the rear brakes cool and release the shoes from the drums.

Power steering has slowly gone i took it to mechanic who could not read but says there seems to be a leak but he can't figure out where. It's caused the entire car to act up and i don't even want itanymore.!!

The contact owns a 1998 chevrolet cavalier. The contact stated that at engine startup, the vehicle was able to be shifted from park to drive without depressing the brakes. Transmisson slips sometimes and no one can till me what is wrong.the motor mounts broke and there is only 29,917 miles on it.the car vibrates really bad when you are just setting in it with the car running like when you are at a red light or a stop sign.you just start the car up and it clunks you turn the car off and it clunks.

Vehicle did not have a dip stick for the transmission fluid. Dealer insisted that the vehicle must be brought to them in order for the transmission fluid to be checked. Consumer claimed that the transmission was slipping while the dealerwas servicing the vehicle.

High pitch hum usually after 45 mph but occurs also whenmotor is stressed related not shifting. Motor shifts at 10mph, 20mph, and sounds stressed / labored from 45 to 55mph before it shifts again if it shifts again. Car is automatic 3 speed. When shifting it jerks forward and then suddenly pulls backward hard. When sitting still shifting from park to drive car jerks hard. Whensitting still and shifting from rear to drive, car shifts hard. All gears shift hard. Using transmission oil.often have to restart engine4 times before it remains running. Count to 10 before restarting does nothelp. When driving down the road, often feels a hard pulling like it is really working hard to pull itself. Accelerates and decelerates as if it has its own mind. Chevy tried to reprogram twice but would not takeso replaced computer about 8 months ago. But it is doing it again.

My vehicle has trouble doing everything a new car should do. This vehicle has jeopordized my families safety on numerous occasions. Having the horn not work whenanother vehicle pulls out on me is a serious matter which should be looked into. Everytime the oil is changed on the car they come back and tell me the transmission is leaking again. Obviously replacing the shaft seal is not fixing the problem especially when it leaks again 3000 miles in between dealership visits. Having a constant gasoline and sulfer odor emitting from the vehicle worries me especially considering i have two very young children.when brought up to the dealership they will not look into the matter anymore unless a engine light is on. This vehicle will shortly run out of warranty and i believe general motors has blown off my letters, phonecalls and e-mailsknowing this. Smell of burning wires when driving. Radiator hose failed prior to/after recall repairs. Also, transfer case malfunctioned prior to/after recall repairs 98v013000. In addition, rear passenger's side door handle broke inside.

This e-mail is in regards to my 1998 cavalier rs.this car has been nothing but trouble since i bought it on june 29, 1998.just 14 months after i purchased the car, the clutch goes out.then it goes out four times thereafter.a total of five times my clutch has went out. The reason i purchased a brand new automobile was for the dependency of the chevrolet product.i was mistaken in my thinking obviously. That dates of having to replace the clutch master cylinder are as follows:08/29/99, 04/05/01, 08/09/01, 10/17/01, 06/26/03.i understand things go wrong with vehicles, but five times on the same problem.(no the clutch is not being ridden.)thankfully i have reimbursment towing on my insurance, considering i was miles away from a chevrolet dealership. Also, the engine light came on july 20, 1999 (13 months after i bought the car).my receipt states all the cylynders were misfiring.on november 21, 2001 my catatylic converter had to be replaced.(don't ever go on a trip in this car!) all the work stated above was done by chevrolet dealerships.the car is paid for now and they received all of their money out of me.i just hope this doesn't happen to someone else. (the car was in my grandmother's name, mary h. Decker 3416 st ann st owensboro, ky 42303.it is now in the process of changing the name onthe title.)

The plastic coating/lock mechanism on my 1998 chevrolet cavalier's male seatbelt piece is deteriorating, causing the seatbeltnot lock the belt into place.

The driver side seatbelt has broken at the female end - the mounting that holds the belt in placehas broken off, leaving only a metal component for the belt to fit through. It is no longer fixed, nor adjustable. This is a pretty strong piece and therefore faulty in this vehicle, as it is only three years old.

My 13 yr old daughter and 12 yr old niece tried to hide from me after a ride in the trunk of the car.they thought they could leave a seatbelt between the back seat and the trunk to prevent it closing.it locked.they were trapped for 20-30 minutes before i happened to walk by the car (it was 90 degrees) and heard them.luckily they were okay but a few more minutes and they may have passed out - then who knows?please have all cars with similar back seats (open from passenger area to the trunk, but not vice versa) have safety latches placed in the trunk by the manufacturer.it will save lives!

Traveling approximately 20 mph, our vehicle struck from behind (rear-ended) by an suv. The impact caused both driver and passenger seats to collapse backward providing no support and causing injury to both driver and passenger.

The engine started having problems where it didn't want to move and the gas pump kept messing up and the gas needle doesn,t show correct it will say you have a half a tank when you really have a quarter tank, and the throttle sensor is messed up i was on i-4 which is a major highway in orlando in the middle of traffic the was on but loss power and stalled out.

The contact owns a 1998 chevrolet cavalier. The contact stated that the abs brake module failed. The contact stated that the failure caused the brake pedal to become abnormally soft and the vehicle had become increasingly difficult to stop when the brakes were applied. I previously reported this and received odi number: 724108 - my vehicle was totalled in this accident. The brakes failed 4 times and in an attempt to avoid hitting a vehicle stopped in front, had to steer off the road onto a bank. This resulted in hitting a boulder and subsequently the vehicle flipped over onto the driver's side. The only reason there were no injuries or fatalities was due to the seatbelt being worn, and the airbags deploying. I had at least 25 if not more incidences where the brakes failed and was told by the dealer upon having them checked out previously was that there was nothing wrong. I notified chevrolet after the accident, and was told i have no recourse because i didn't have the vehicle back to the dealer 3 times. I could have had it back 100 times and would have gotten nowhere. In the time of owning this vehicle, had to replace the brake pads twice and the rotors once. There is something wrong when an anti-lock brake system causes the brakes to fail. The only thing good about this mess is that my son, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, wasn't hurt or killed. I have not as yet notified gm as they don't care if they are producing vehicles which can cause serious injury or death.i previously owned a gm jimmy with exactly the same problems with the braking system and was involved in a class action suit against gm. I don't know what happened with it - i sold the jimmy and purchased this cavalier which ultimately resulted in permanently losing my car. Why doesn't someone do something to stop gm before someone is seriously injured or killed? the consumer is made to feel like they are at fault and don't know how to use anti-lock brakes. Brake lining rusted, causing the brakes to fail.consumer had the vehicle towed to arepair shop for diagnosis of the problem. When driving at any speed and applying the brakes there is a grinding sound/ knocking noise when releasing the brake's and the dealer can't determine the caus eof the problem.

This is the third cavalier i have owned, and the last. Thought it was a great car, guess i was wrong. The radio has been replaced 3 times, the brakes 3 times (they wear funny), the seat broke and i fell into my 3 year old in the back seat. And chevrolet has once again stood by their word, i am the second owner of this car, so they will do nothing. What a company.

When i depress my brakes after the car has sat awhile, they lock up slamming the car to a stop.when it gets icy out my tires will lock up and i will go into a skid.

I have had my 1998 chevrolet cavalier for almost 5 years now; in feb. 2003 i had to pay 321.25 to have an ignition switch replaced in my car (which was an recall issue); i asked martin burks chevrolet on forest park parkway in forest park, ga if the ignition problem was a recall issue and bob allen, the auto part service manager lied to me and stated that it was not a recall issue, so i paid $321.25 for repair service to find out a year later that the ignition system problem was a recall issue.so i want to inform you that chevrolet has auto repair service centers with workers that lies to consumers just to take their money.at this present time, my 1998 chevrolet cavalier will not start because something is blocking the fuel from reach the motor/engine (which is another recall problem) but not according to the chevrolet manufacturer; my wheels feels as if they are wobbling sometimes; and my steering column is making a squeaking sound when i turn it left or right.by putting in the vin number, ifound out that there has been four recalls on this vehicle, but the manufacturer states that there has been only one recall, someone is again lying and i don't believe it is the carfax report.i feel that gm should extend the warranties on their vehicles longer than they do because their vehicles are learned to be defective before a lifetime of 5 years is up (pre years lifespan) for any vehicle and the consumer should not be made to purchase the warranties, but gmpp (general motors protection plan) should reissue an extended warranty when someone have had as many problems with their vehicles as i have within these last two years.i feel that these headaches and expenses could have been avoided if martin burks had fixed my car the first time; i also feels that martin burks chevrolet is an untrustworthy service center.i will also be contacting the better business bureau to inform them of the unsatisfied service i have had with martin burks chevrolet service center.

Ever since i bought my car brand new, i have had issues with the engine stalling on hills or inclines.my car will start to feel as if it's going to stall, and the rpm's jump up as if i am accelerating the gas, but since this normally only happens on hills, when i apply the brakes, my car will not stop, b/c the rpm's are still high, then that's when the car stalls, and of course my steering wheel locks, and i cannot stop without using the e-brake, or put it back into neutral and restart it. Chevrolet cavlier 1998 - the car is only 5 1/2 years old with 33,000 miles on it. I have had steering issues for more than 3 years with this car.i can not parallel park or make hard turns with out the steering locking up or forcing me to you my entire body weight to ge the wheel to move.when i've taken it to a dealership they simply say this is how the car is designed use the gas and that a recall has not been issued although according to this web page there has been.apparantly according to gm my vin number is not included in the nov/2002 recall for steering rack/pinion which sounds as if it is exactly what the problem is and that there are no recalls scheduled in the future.

On 08.25.2003 sun chevrolet (in pittsburgh, pa) performed recall work on my 1998 chevy cavalier.this was classified as "rack and pinion campaign 02049, ma-96-v0948.7".at that time the only part listed on my receipt as being installed on the cavalier was bearing k 6.835 a.recently i have been encountering difficulty turning the steering wheel, where it feels as though the power steering has become disabled intermittently.this is very startling when it occurs, and has led to several "near misses" in traffic when trying to negotiate turns.so, on 07.21.2005, i took the vehicle back to sun chevrolet for them to evaluate this problem.they told me the vehicle needs a new "steering gear" for $1168.95, and that the vehicle is unsafe to drive.i called pricilla lundquist (from chevrolet 866.952.4368 x 58092, service request # 1-351040321) on saturday 07.23.2005, and she said that she would speak will sun chevrolet then get back to us on monday (07.25.2005).at that time she told us there is nothing they would do about the problem, it was completely our problem to fix and pay for.from reading the information on this rack and pinion recall, it seems as though the steering gear should have been replaced at the time of the recall (08.25.2003) along with the bearing to prevent this problem now.this vehicle only has about 55,000 miles on it, but is not safe to drive because of this steering problem.

Approxiamately 2 months into owning the vehicle the problems started. First the seat belt covers snapped off, i've had to have the steering stabilizers replaced 3 times already, the air conditioner which is rarely used failed at about 55-60,000 miles, the battery busted and leaked on the entire right side under hood, the jack was warped, the gas guage reads incorrectly, the sunroof stopped working after 30000 miles, dash rattles, glove box will not stay closed, pass seat gets stuck when you move it forward, the gas pedal gets stuck and you have to apply more force than usual to get it moving, drivers door does not close all the way, more air than normal comes into vehicle, thermostat failed at 30000 miles, installed sidewinder 6500 car alarm which failed to operate after the battery busted, plus numerous other problems not mentioned here.

I have had my 1998 chevrolet cavalier for almost 5 years now; in feb. 2003 i had to pay 321.25 to have an ignition switch replaced in my car (which was an recall issue); i asked martin burks chevrolet on forest park parkway in forest park, ga if the ignition problem was a recall issue and bob allen, the auto part service manager lied to me and stated that it was not a recall issue, so i paid $321.25 for repair service to find out a year later that the ignition system problem was a recall issue.so i want to inform you that chevrolet has auto repair service centers with workers that lies to consumers just to take their money.at this present time, my 1998 chevrolet cavalier will not start because something is blocking the fuel from reach the motor/engine (which is another recall problem) but not according to the chevrolet manufacturer; my wheels feels as if they are wobbling sometimes; and my steering column is making a squeaking sound when i turn it left or right.by putting in the vin number, ifound out that there has been four recalls on this vehicle, but the manufacturer states that there has been only one recall, someone is again lying and i don't believe it is the carfax report.i feel that gm should extend the warranties on their vehicles longer than they do because their vehicles are learned to be defective before a lifetime of 5 years is up (pre years lifespan) for any vehicle and the consumer should not be made to purchase the warranties, but gmpp (general motors protection plan) should reissue an extended warranty when someone have had as many problems with their vehicles as i have within these last two years.i feel that these headaches and expenses could have been avoided if martin burks had fixed my car the first time; i also feels that martin burks chevrolet is an untrustworthy service center.i will also be contacting the better business bureau to inform them of the unsatisfied service i have had with martin burks chevrolet service center.

Air bag stays on, 3 modules replaced, problem still present. Horn would not work with steering wheel straight, replaced cancelling cam. Ok. Car would not drive straight, replaced steering gear box, ok. A/c rumbles at idle when hot, replaced belt and tensioner, problem still present but not as loud. Dome light stays on, replaced alarm module, ok.

Approximately 1 month after taking my '98 cavalier in for recall 02v286000 repair i started hearing a terrible sound from the steering every time i make a left-hand turn.this noise is only heard when making left-hand turns.

As listed in the may 2004 c.r. The recalls on the chevrolet lumina, monte carlo, and malibu 97-98 on replacing the pinion bearing in power-steering gear could separate and allow pinion shaft to move. I have had the same problem on my 1998chevrolet cavalier, whereas i could barely turn my steering wheel to the right while turning.my rack and pinion had to be replaced by the dealer. There was a recall on the steering rack and pinion on 1998 chevrolet cavalier build in 4-01-1997 to 10-31-1997 mine was made 11-01-1997. I know that what the problem is with mine because at times i can't turnthe wheel at all when i slow down. The reason i'm writing about this is i would like to know if there been other reports on this problem with other98 cavaliers made at this time. I would like a report sent to general motors to see if they will go good for this part. The rack and pinion on my car failed as i was driving it.i had to have it replaced.although there is a recall on the lower pinion seperation as of jan. 2003,it only seems to cover a certain range of vin #'s for this make.my mechanic called in jan. I heard vibration by the rear drivers side wheel.i inspected the vehicle and noticed i could actually move (wobble) the wheel, it came loose from the frame according to 3 car shops.i even took it to a chevy dealership, it was deemed unsafe to drive.also the frame is completely corroded, there are parts of the unibody frame that are just missing due to rust and corrosion.the rest of the car is in very good shape, but due to the frame issue its now unsafe to drive and way too expensive to repair.any recalls on the 1998 cavalier?

Convertible top leaks and has done so since the first rain when i bought the car in june of 1998.vehicle went in for repairs on several occasions with no success in fixing the problem.problem has progressively gotten worse over the last years.heavy rain floods the front seats of the vehicle as does washing.finally gave up after several unsucessful attempts.slowly over the last 2 years the window motors have gone bad preventing me from rolling the windows down.they get stuck and don't roll up.on 3 separate occasions my windows, driver and passenger side have fallen into the door panels and had to be repaired. At 8 miles before purchase of car water pump, gasket, thermostat and seal replaced because of coolant leak, at 14,000 miles water sensor replace because coolant light continued to come on, at 15,000 miles coolant coming on again and head gasket replaced.claims no damage to engine but a mechanic told me they could not tell unless they tear engine down and mic it.at 5,000 miles trunk leaked at 15,000 miles in for continued trunk leak.front passenger door sticks. The button on the sunroof would not open the sunroof.i took the car in four separate times and the button still does not seem to work correctlyfirst date it was brought in 8/20/98, 2nd time 9/15/98, third 9/24/98 and last time was taken in was 2/5/99.

Chevy cavalier rusted sub frames. Car vibrates wildly at a certain speeds. Car was parked. Was told vehicle warranty had already expired and there had been no other calls related to this. Was told by gm service department car (if driven) should be driven cautiously (no bumps, potholes, long distance trips) recommended we don't drive.

I was stopped at red light and when the light turned green i took off and felt a pull to the passenger side. I had my brother in law check it out and the sub-frame was rotted. We replaced it but feel this needed to be brought to your attention.

No events except the sub frame just split in half ,causing the vehicle has very little control and pulls erratically from one way to another, had to replace the sub frame.

Took vehicle for state inspection. Vehicle failed inspection due to frame being rusted. Mechanic/inspector states that this is very common on the 1998 chevrolet cavalier. There are mfg. The service writer first said, "it's out of alignment." i know better (i've been in the automotive repair business for 21 years). Then he said, "the tire was ran low." i said it wasn't. The engine started having problems where it didn't want to move and the gas pump kept messing up and the gas needle doesn,t show correct it will say you have a half a tank when you really have a quarter tank, and the throttle sensor is messed up i was on i-4 which is a major highway in orlando in the middle of traffic the was on but loss power and stalled out.

While driving on the turnpike at approx 55-60 mph my accelerator became stuck. When i depressed the brakes the car did not go below 40 mph. I called 9-1-1 for assistance. This went on for approx 8 miles, i eventually shut the ignition off and the car rolled to a stop on the shoulder. The car is at the dealership and they can not find anything wrong with it and expect me to pay for the replacement of the brakes that were ruined as a result of the cars defective accelerator. The problem needs to be identified and fixed before the vehicle is released or someone may become seriously injured or killed.

Accelerator stuck to the floor while merging on to freeway. Vehicle kept going faster.tried pumping accelerator, nothing happened.tried braking, but car would not slow down.put left foot on brake pedal and used right foot to try to loosen the accelerator by stomping on it.no luck.by then, i was approaching vehicles ahead of me at very high speed (i would guess at least 70 mph.).both lanes were full, so there was no way to switch lanes.in desperation, i shifted to reverse to try to stop the car.the engine shut off.i steered the vehicle to the shoulder as the vehicle coasted. I was able to brake as the vehicle coasted.when the car stopped, the battery light was on.the accelerator pedal was still stuck to the floor.i stomped on it a few times, and it broke loose.i had the car towed to a chevrolet dealer.

Consumer was driving at approximately 60 mph when the vehicle suddenly started to accelerate to over 100 mph.vehicle would not stop even by applying brakes. Had to pull emergency brakes and put it in park.

I have had several episodes over the past 6 years of my car accelerating without me stepping on the gas.in fact, it usually happens when i have first started the car, and am stepping on the brakes when pulling out of driveway, or coming to a stop at traffic lights, etc.my brakes can barely stop the car, and the only way i can get the car to go back to normal is to put it in park once i have stopped. Immediately i hear the engine stop revving, and then when i put the car in drive it's working normally.

After driving vehicle for a short or a long period and whenvehicle is parked, there is a burning smell that comes out of the ventilation system. Dealer has been contacted.

Convertible top leaks and has done so since the first rain when i bought the car in june of 1998.vehicle went in for repairs on several occasions with no success in fixing the problem.problem has progressively gotten worse over the last years.heavy rain floods the front seats of the vehicle as does washing.finally gave up after several unsucessful attempts.slowly over the last 2 years the window motors have gone bad preventing me from rolling the windows down.they get stuck and don't roll up.on 3 separate occasions my windows, driver and passenger side have fallen into the door panels and had to be repaired. I have spoken to a friend as well as strangers when i see them driving the same vehicle and they have all thus far expressed the same problems in regards to leaking and window motor.i refuse to pay $350 + to have a $50 window motor replaced in the vehicle.

The button on the sunroof would not open the sunroof.i took the car in four separate times and the button still does not seem to work correctlyfirst date it was brought in 8/20/98, 2nd time 9/15/98, third 9/24/98 and last time was taken in was 2/5/99.

This car has been taken to the dealer and the dealer recognizes the problem but consistantly refuses to take any rsponsibilities for the junk that they sold me.this car has been to the body shop for repairs on the manufacturer ground effects package the transmission that doesn't work properly the brake system the i have had to have rotors turned and within four months have brand new rotors but on.the sunroof doesn't open properly, the trunk lid hits the bumper when you close it,the engine makes a weird rattle noise when you go over a bump,the doors do not close all the way, ther is tons of rust on the inside walls of my trunk, i was also notified of a recall on the oil consumption valve two weeks after all the oil in my car had leaked out causing my engine to knockon my way home from work (had to put four quarts of oil in it three days from having an oil change, i never received the airbag recall for my vehicle.to wrap this up in a nutshell i will never buy a chevrolet product again i will result to a foriegn car maker (honda)to purchase my next vehicle.nk

While driving down the road at 45 mph, the passenger side window exploded shooting glass up and out of the door frame.at the time of the failure the window was rolled down.glass was blown into the passenger,s lap, the back of the car and outside.mr

Consumer made a right turn and the engine stopped. After switching back and forth, the vehicle began to start slowly. Once started, the vehcile merged forward and began to jerk back and forth.consumer proceeded, she was driving approx. 10-15mph when she beganto brake for a vehicle and the abs light came onandthere were no brakes to apply.consumer hit vehicle at 15mph. Approximately20-25 minutes later, both air bags deployed. The whinshield shattered.

Front windshield glare causes poor visibility.

Left windshield wiper does not reach the left edge of the windshield.it stops 3-4 inches short, leaving left side of windshield unclean.this obstructs visibility during normal driving and rainy conditions.

Abs fail to work at high or very low speeds.rotors replaced twice in two years. Dealer can't find anything else wrong with the brakes. Have taken it in several times, but problem continues. The last time i had the rotors fixed they put a hole in my windshield washer fluid container and want over $100 to replace it.starter refuses to turn over ocasionally, dealer couldn't find problem.there has got to be a recall very soon on the brakes soon, i'm lucky i haven't gotten in an accident yet.everyone i know that has the same car has had the exact same problems with their brakes.they had to issue a recall on a faulty brake system they had on their trucks several years ago.i don't feel safe driving my car and will never buy a chevy again.

Windshield washer motor failed.nlm

The starter went out the first week i got it did tires start rubbing the sucks went out making it hard to drive and a second time start rubbing i end up buying three times cuz they got ball real fast the wiring under the engine ripped apart and now it's threw a rod.

The contact owns a 1998 chevrolet cavalier.while driving 10 mph, the power steering locked and the contact was unable to turn the steering wheel.the vehicle was towed to the mechanic and they stated that the steering rack needed to be replaced.as of july 24, 2007, the vehicle has not been repaired.the current and failure mileages were 83,656.updated 01/11/08.*lja broken wheel stud and nut were replaced. 1998 chevrolet cavalier right front wheel fell off.the studs had broken on the hub.the right front fender was damaged.

Rear passenger wheel bounces up and down while driving.the dealer has inspected and attempted to repair the vehicle. *ml
