Vehicle designed without driver's side airbag.
When vehicle was involved in a head-on collision, the driver's side air bag did not deploy. Driver in the cavalier was going about 60 mph. The other vehicle was making an illegal turn. The vehicle was totalled.
Air bags failed to deploy when trying to make a turn at excessive speed.when consumer cut wheelvehicle impacted a telephone pole onright front part of the vehicle at approximately 50 to 55 mph. Telephone pole split and caused wires to fall. Unknown if the wires were on car. Consumer states wires were not on vehicle.
Upon impact, during frontal crash, at approx. 20mph, 12:00 on front bumper, air bag failed to deploy.
Problem w/electrical system causes door locks to click/dome and abs light to come on/heater to fail, also causes starting problems.*aw
While driving battery died.took vehicle to mechanic and they said flywheel broke.

Recall # 961001000. When repairing horn the wiring on the horn was damaged.dealer wanted to charge owner for having the wiring replaced. Horn pad is not working.
Recall work performed on the horn pad, however has failed several times since repair work, horn pad separates from vehicle steering wheel.
Horn pad and internal assembly fall off occasionally and continue to be loose.awaiting next defect....

Upon start up in cold weather: wipers inop, heater fan inop, auto door locks inop, head lamps inop.after 20 min warm up all seems to function okay.start up in warmer part of day these discrepancies do not materialize.
While driving temperature guage starts to fluctuate prior to loss of braking power, this happens intermittently,dealer has been unable to recognize problem area.

Each time they admit that it is a problem and they give a "discount" i feel they need to pay i am still having problems with the vehicle leaking antifreeze.please help i have talked to other cavalier owners they have the same problem help.
Check engine light came on, and consumer noticed that the engine temperaturewas going up. Consumer stopped car, and called a tow company. Consumer towed car to a chevrolet dealer. Dealer said they had to replace engine head gasket and water pump because oneengine head cylinder bolt broke.
I have had a problem with my engine's cooling system ever since i got it. It consistently over- heats, leaks coolant and i believe there is something wrong with the fan. My car finally broke down from it and i am going to have to pay hundreds of more dollars toget the problem fixed. I have 2 friends that have the exact same car with the same problems. I am so sick of taking this car in for problems. Also, there have been problems with the fan belt and parallel pullies, which i was told by aaa.
Will contact dealer service and manufacturer for assistance. No safety defect listed for above vehicle.
When driving in bad weather conditions the vehicle leaks in the inside of the vehicle.
Gm will not extend warranty even though they do so with 92/93 with same problem.
I am aware that the '92 & '93 models are covered for the same engine, same problem. Shouldn't the '94 models be covered since they have the same problem?
Replace head gasket 10/96, water pump and hoses 07/99 and still looses coolant
Consumer stated there was not enough heat, temperature gauge stays low, the dealer replaced the thermostat, coolant pipe gasket and drive belt.

Lower radiator hose rubbed on motor mount and wore through the metal on the hose, causing loss of fluid and engine cooling failure.hose was in good shape except for this.new hose is still rubbing.no apparentway to mount it differently. While changing the oil i noticed a rust line down the engine block where the transmission housing and engine block meet. There isa distinct leak at that section of the head/block where they meet.
While vehicle was having an oil change, etc. At a repair shop,consumer wasinformed of a leakages from head gasket. Dealer / manufacturer notified.
Loss of coolant and overheating on2.2l engine. Dealer / manufacturer notified,and informed consumer that vehicle was out of its warrany, and not covered under a recall. Please provide anyfurther details on this matter.

In 1995 gm made special policy for 1995 cavalier's, for headgaskets leaking. I own a 94 cavalier. My cavalier has the same engine as the 95 cavalier. I contacted gm and they refused to say that there are any problems with headgaskets leaking. I then called 22 different chevy dealers across the usa. Two dealers said that they seen very little problems with headgaskets leaking. The other dealers said that there were major problems with headgaskets leaking. The invoice from my repair said that a new style gasket was installed. It seems that gm knows there is a problem with the gaskets. I am sure that if records from other dealers were asked for,that it would show more problems with the gaskets failling. This is to all cavalier's from the firstyear to present. Thank you.

Was informed by mechanic the plastic part that rotates the timing chain was defective. The timing chain needs to be replaced.

Consumer stated the air conditioner was not blowing cold air, dealer found a leak at the evaporator core, then there was water entering the floor area when the air condtioner was on, the dealer then replaced a cracked heater case panel near the drain tube, aslo the drain hose was cleaned.

And that the torque converter failed.the firestone representativeinformedthe contact that the fuel injector failure was a fire hazard .and the vehicle was not safe.the contact called the owner of dave's dealership, and was informed by the owner that there was nothing he could do about the vehicle failures.the contact had an estimate for repairing the injectors which was $442.00 ,and the torque converter repair for $600.00.the current mileage was 19,500, and the failure mileage was 19, 4700.updated 04/12/07.

The contact owned a 1994 chevrolet cavalier. While driving approximately 25 mph, the driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel. The driver became involved in a crash in which the vehicle rolled over six times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle through the front driver's side window. The police reported to the scene and a report was filed. The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured. The police officer stated there was no pin in the seat belt that properly secured it to the body of the vehicle. The seat belt was secured around the driver's arm and was connected to the latch, but not to the body of the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

This problem of the abs system malfunctioning started a little overa year ago.i have already spent well over 800 dollars on brake work at several different brake shops.nobody knew what the problem was until i took it to the last place.they told me it was 1300 dollar problem.i need to replace the abs box.while driving down the highway one day in perfectly clear weather i was to force to hit my brakes and ended up spinning out of control and almost being struck by numerous cars until i finally come to a stop facing traffic.this happened while my 15 month old son was in the car with me.i have read in numerous different web sites all the complaints of the abs system failing on 94 cavaliers.i think if anything is decided to be recalled this is definitely one of them.not everyone has the money to just throw away on having the problem fixed. The day the vehicle was delivered to the consumer it had a flat tire.the tire was replaced but a few days later another tire went flat.the brakes failed with no warning, there was an unusual noise when making turns and the stabilizer was found broke, there was another noise in the front end and the vehicle had fallen to the ground. *scthe consumer discovered there was a recall on the drive axle which may have been related to the incident he/she experienced.

When applying brakes to avoid accidents car goes into skid on dry and wet pavement. Steering wheel will occasionally turn when brakes lock up. Dealer says this is normal for this car. Was coming to a stop & started to apply the brakes (abs), and they failed to hold or stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued into the intersection. Pedal went to the floor. This problem of the abs system malfunctioning started a little overa year ago.i have already spent well over 800 dollars on brake work at several different brake shops.nobody knew what the problem was until i took it to the last place.they told me it was 1300 dollar problem.i need to replace the abs box.while driving down the highway one day in perfectly clear weather i was to force to hit my brakes and ended up spinning out of control and almost being struck by numerous cars until i finally come to a stop facing traffic.this happened while my 15 month old son was in the car with me.i have read in numerous different web sites all the complaints of the abs system failing on 94 cavaliers.i think if anything is decided to be recalled this is definitely one of them.not everyone has the money to just throw away on having the problem fixed. I was slowing down in a left hand turn lane, on a slight uphill grade, and as i approached a stopping point, the car lurched/jerked heavily then stalled. I tried to start the car immediately and was unable to because i was in drive, i then placed it in park, and the vehicle started easily. I then placed the car into drive, released the brake, applied the gas and it stalled again. Placed the car back in park, started it, placed it back in drive, released the brake, applied the gas, and the car stalled. Went through the same steps again, but this time, the car moved and drove normally and did not stall. After searching on the internet, this looks to be a common issue, something about the transmission not down shifting. This is a serious safety issue, and could have caused a serious accident if i had begun my left turn as it stalled.

Consumer stated the air conditioner was not blowing cold air, dealer found a leak at the evaporator core, then there was water entering the floor area when the air condtioner was on, the dealer then replaced a cracked heater case panel near the drain tube, aslo the drain hose was cleaned.

Wipers do not work on delay or low speeds. Only on high.washer will not spray fluid unless wipers are on high.occasionally wipers will work on low or delay, however; they will stick.
When driving in rainy conditions and the windshield wipers are on,the wipers would stop working for about 60 seconds, making it impossible to see the road. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to determine the problem.
