January 2, i was driving on i95 at 60 miles an hour, another car got flat tiers and lost control, suddenly made a u turn and impacted me front to front, my air bags didn't deployed, called car maker and they have no re-calls and no taking any actions about my report.

The air bag light came on and i took it to the dealer and a part has gone bad. This vehicle isn't that old for parts to go bad since airbags systems are good for a long time. I've seen others have had problems with the airbags and this should be investigated because airbags are the most important thing in a family vehicle. Also just like the others, i've had issues with my radio and lightening in the inside. The radio goes on and off and the lights keep dimming then going bright again.all of this occurs regardless if i'm moving or parked. The air bag light has been coming and going since last year.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact drove the vehicle and parked it for several hours. Upon returning to the vehicle, the interior was completely destroyed due to fire. The vehicle was not occupied during the fire and no injuries were sustained. The fire was already out when the contact returned to the vehicle. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed and was awaiting claim adjustments from the contact's insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact stated that the key became stuck in the acc position and the vehicle would not turn off. The following day, the vehicle was taken to the dealer (weseloh chevrolet, 5335 paseo del norte, carlsbad, ca 92008, (760) 208-1943). The dealer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle and the contact paid for the repairs. The diagnosis of the failure was unknown. The manufacturer also stated that the vehicle was not covered by a recall and provided case number: 8-4215205113. The failure mileage was 100,700.

Vehicle stationary in park the key won't come out of the ignition. The other issue is thedefrost vent heat sometimes blows cold for a few hours. It seems to get stuck on defrost and it won't close the door over to the other vents. It seems that it could be a program issue. The switches seem to work it will heat up.noticed it does it a lot on windy cold nights then in the morning it won't work for a few hours. Please help!safety issues if you can't see outside the window when blowing cold air.

The battery cables are defective causing a short. Car worn start sometimes or battery skips or turns off been happening for a couple years. There are other complaints on the internet about the faultycable connector. They tried a new one for these cars. It happens a couple times a month the last time i used in the date box.

During the last week of may 2019 radio turning on/off intermittently - thought it was issue with radio station, but on-line chevy forums indicate it is a sign of larger electrical issues. June 1, 2019, entering vehicle after dinner out, interior lights were flickering; driving at highway speed at night with ac & cruise control on there was a sudden noxious odor irritating to eyes, nose, and throat (2 people ill); headlights flickering; opened windows to ventilate; made it home (~12 miles); all lights - exterior and interior - still flickering upon arrival home; still a strong noxious odor - stronger on interior driver side of vehicle; internet search of symptoms indicated driver visor might be extremely hot - went out to check and it was very hot - even after sitting while we did internet search; further internet search indicates many chevy captiva owners complaining of similar problems; forums indicate known battery cables voltage drop issue leading to expensive repairs (~$1000) not covered under recall, so we disconnected battery overnight until we could check things in the daylight. 6/2/19 - after leaving vehicle battery disconnected overnight, reconnected and driver visor immediately got warm to touch - car not even cranked, just sitting in the shady driveway with the battery connected. Shifted visor down and there was a loud pop/click noise. Visor would not fully return to stowed position. Disconnected battery again. Not a safe situation with overheating visor, noxious fumes, and fluttering lights. Chevy forums indicate this has been a know issue since 2012, but dealerships will only assist while car is still in original purchase warranty period. Forums indicate this was a recall in europe/great britain, but not here in usa. Ridiculous. An american company not taking care of its american customers... For years... Multiple year models reporting same issues.

While driving, the dash board lights will come on from time to time. The signal light inside the car may show, but not indicated outside. Once in a while the cabin light flutter, dim and then return to full brightness. The radio may stop working and " ting, ting" sound may come on with the dash board panel lights illuminated momentarily. This car was recently serviced by the dealer and i have reported on this problem before. Since it occurs very often, i have indicated the date of the last occurrence. Thanks

While driving my chevy captiva on the freeway the vehicle shutoff unexpectedly and i was almost involved in a car accident with my pregnant wife. On other occasions while driving the same thing happened.i have taken it to shops to get it looked at and they can't seem to get to the problem. The check engine light comes on then turns off.i am worried that this vehicle will cause my death. I called gm but they can't seem to give me a straight answer and want to charge me for something that they didn't built correctly. I have seen multiple post of the same threat online of the vehicle doing the exact same thing and gm is not taking the matter seriously.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact stated that when entering the key in the ignition, the key became stuck inside the ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, a month later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had a lock mechanism failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Since my 2013 chevy captiva took the place of the saturn vue when saturn shut down. How can i be sure that since my captiva is exclusively sold to fleet consumers that my vehicle is not being overlooked on this ignition switch recall program since it is almost identical to the pontiac g5 and chevy cobalt ignition switch?

I own a 2013 captiva, on a regular basis i turn off the vehicle and am unable to take the key out of the ignition. This has been happening for around 6 months. I read many, many complaints about this issue and just want it fixed, however my car is out of warranty @ a little over 70000 miles on it. This isn't something i should have topay to get fixed if i can sit here on my computer and read about it happening to others 100's if not 1000's of times! there are also points were the engine just about stalls out, it happens mostly when just parked but there are times that it seems to act like it will die when drivin. Not to mention it always momentarily loses power when accelerating, usually around 20 miles an hour.there is also an issue with the climate controls, it never makes the temperature you chose, if it's on defrost it blows hot air no matter what and most of the other settings blow cold air. I never really get a temperature to be comfortable.

While i was driving to work on the highway my car caught on fire through the left passenger door speaker. I pulled over and got stuck in the flaming car because the seat belts would not release. After a while i was able to get out, and call the fire station they came and out the fire; they said the wire that connects to the speaker was the main causes of the fire. I took the car to the dealership and they claimed nothing was wrong with it, it just happened. Now i'm stuck with a car that i'm afraid to drive because my life is not only at risk of a car accident but now also an unknown cause of another potentially fire.

Over a year ago aaa installed a new battery when my car wouldn't start.since that time there have been several times when i had to call aaa to come out as the car would not start....each time that cleaned and greased the terminals.now it is happening more freguently.on sunday...while waiting for aaa i checked and it started up again all on its own.so not even sure it is the termials after all....i am becoming afraid to drive this vehicle. I car was always in a parked position.i have over 60,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captivia. The contact stated that the key was unable to eject from the ignition switch. The contact had to park the vehicle, engage the brake, and turn the steering wheel to remove the key from the ignition. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Car has stalled out 7 times in a month. Dealer ship cant find what the problem is have towed it 7 times. The car stall with no warning or light. Call gm they cant do anything. Car stalled while driving this is unsafe

While driving my captiva from work to home (approx. 26 miles) the warning lights on the dash light up and it indicates service traction control. It will do this at least three times on the way home however when take it to weseloh chevy in carlsbad they state no codes. On at least four times when i shut the car off there is no power, no lights, no nothing its like the battery is dead when its not. It happened at the dealership when they asked me to pick it up after finding no issues. This last issue i was able to get it started by aaa and weseloh had my car for over a week burnt thru half a tank of gas found nothing, however i drove it the next day from work and it happened again warning lights on service traction control.

Unknown, several times between my husband or myself while driving down the road and on the interstate, the vehicle would just completely shut off no lights, no brakes no nothing. We purchased the vehicle used so we thought that it had something to do with some minor maintenance but this first occurred only after having the vehicle for two weeks.we've taken the vehicle back to where we purchased it, they could not find any issues with the vehicle and taken it to other locations with no luck on solving issue. The vehicle does not give any signs or warning when it will shut down while drive. Here recently when using the turn signals, switching on high beams, or even turning on the radio causes the vehicle shut down.

On 11/9/2015 my suv engine cut off and i lost all power to operate it. The key would not come out of the ignition. I was attempting to come to a stop on two occasions on the same day and could not continue normal vehicle operations. I am taking the vehicle back to the dealer 11/10/2015.

When trying to start the vehicle the key won't turn to start the car. Has happened at least 12 times. Called aaa to start it. Mechanic had hard time starting the vehicle. Has to push on brake so hard that i can't do it. He said this should not be happening. He had difficult time. I am afraid to drive the car. I want this reported and something done. Something is defective. Also the bumper paint is all chipped where it attaches to the body the whole way around on one bumper. This is a defect also. No way should these two problems be happening!!i also want to know if there is a recall on the air bag problem?

I was driving around a curve and it just shut off. I couldnt steer or do anything

Key gets stuck in the ignition and the battery dies completely. I cannot lock or unlock my car. Hazards won't turn on. Only happens occasionally, but it's been more frequent and lasts longer. I used to be able just to turn the car back on to get the key out, but now it doesn't even try to turn. It's like the battery is dead, but i got it checked and it's fine. It happens as i turn the car off or on. It is always in park.

Takaya recall...driver seat belt is unraveling , gas fumes comes throught vent when on freeway or streets even with vents are closedwhen turning the tire rubs against the vehicle tire area other issues with engine grinding to pick up speed and poor power bought to batteries.

The stabilizer , traction control and the engine light seems to appear while driving.the power of the engine slows down tremendous barely able to accelerate. This seems to happen rather i'm driving on the streets or highway driving. The problem comes and goes.

Went to the dentist, got my routine oil change, then went to the doctor, then visited a friend. When i left my friends house to get on the freeway my car smelled like oil burning- engine light came on, check stability light came on, low oil pressure light came on. I pulled into a gas station and turned off engine. My friend sent me pictures of her driveway where all my oil leaked out- after having the vehicle towed- the mechanic said the rear main seal had blown because of a pvc issue.i contacted the dealer but of course my vin isn't part of the recall.

This is the second issue we have had with the stability track on this vehicle. First incident was at the end of january 2019. Now less that 4 months later it happens again.while driving, the brakes auto engage, but no warning or light appears on the dash or information screen. Then once you stop the vehicle as you cant drive it the service stabilitrack/ traction control message comes across the information screen. The roads were clean and dry, we noticed something odd at 25 miles per hour but were unable to stop as there wasn't anywhere to safely pull over. We had just left a store parking lot and were merging into traffic, no excessive speed or erratic driving.so this happening out of the blue in heavy traffic is a safety issue. This is the main vehicle that our child rides in andshouldn't have to be repaired in less than 2000 miles from the first time it happened.

This past year 2017; oil changes; low a quart or two; one time, told it was out of oil. No leaks found. Drove 360 miles in the winter and back. Car stalled, blue smoke, said check stability traction and shut car off! (out of oil just 3 days after filled with oil) i change oil every 2k miles. I was informed a lot of vehicles with this same engine did this exact problem. This is a danger issue. My car stranded me -12 degree weather!!!!i was informed that the rear seal blew because i drove a long trip in the cold and it froze and broke. These are two problems i have contacted gm with and they called me a liar and told me i abused my car and all warranties, including power train ran out the same day i was stranded! i am [xxx] and never abuse my vehicles (my dad taught me proper). I now have no car. It is parked in my yard. I owe $5000.00. It only has 89,000 miles. The cost to fix is $3,350.00.i feel this was/is a safety issue! the engine/sensors would be ruined if i drove it anymore. The car just shuts down. I was also stranded 90 miles away from home because it quit. Our local dealership (purchased from) said too bad.gm said too bad. When i was driving in traffic, the car stuttered, and shut off after telling me to shut it off. At the stop light, i hurried to start it, it was rush hour, in heavy traffic, on a city street, at st. Cloud, mn. I was so scared. I nursed it to a tire place, (thank goodness they closed at 6 p.m., as it was 5:30 p.m.) they do all car stuff. I don't know what to do.i love my captiva. I don't' dare drive it.it will quit and i cannot put 5 quarts of oil in every 50 miles!please i know from repair places that this engine is a problem. This same engine in a lot of equinox's, same problem. The car quits, the oil is out because the rear seal broke in the cold minnesota weather on our long trip. Thank goodness it didn't strand us at rochesterparts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u

Engine sputtered, lurched forward, then almost died repeatedly at a stoplight. Drove car home as no warning lights came on and made an appointment with my mechanic. Mechanic advised to drive car to the shop. When i started the car to drive there, several engine lights came on stating 'reduced engine power' and a stabilitrack warning. The car then died and would not start again. Towed the car to the shop and was told my timing chain snapped and destroyed the engine. 80k miles on the car and my warranty is expired, so now i'm putting several thousand dollars into a new engine. Have heard of several other issues similar at the same mileage.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle reduced power independently to 20 mph as the stability tracker and the engine power warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. It was unknown if the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

Acceleration: hestitates when pressing the gas, has gone on since i took ownership did not realize it was a problem until others started mentioning it.

In january of this year, i experienced a problem with a frozen pcv valve on my 2013 chevy captiva.because of the issue, it created enough pressure to blow out my rear valve seal.fortunately, the car was parked when the seal blew.i contacted gm as this is a know issue with this model/year.i felt that repairs should be covered under the warranty extension (special coverage adjustment 14882).however, when i contacted gm, they indicated that 14882 did not apply to my vin.now i am stuck with the $1,800 for the repair.i was fortunate that i wasn't driving when the seal blew.in my research, it appears that there are a number of others with this same issue.i don't understand how gm feels it's appropriate to limit their recall, when the issue is more widespread.

Excessive oil consumption led to complete engine failure at 130,000 miles.oil changes were current.check engine light came on and was diagnosed as camshaft solenoid.when replaced, check engine light remained illuminated, then reduced engine power came on.chevy knows of this issue and refuses to include the captiva in the same special coverage announcement as the equinox and gmc terrain even though the engines are identical.reduced engine power came in while in motion, nearly leading to accident due to sudden slowness

There was a fault in the engine that made oil leak all over the engine and fried it. It stopped working while i was driving it and my son was in the car. The car then started smoking and my steering wheel locked up. We could have been seriously hurt. When i got it looked at the mechanic said that it was a fault in the engine and was unavoidable and was not my fault but the manufacturers fault. He also said that he had eight other people come in with the exact same issue and the same engine as mine.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While driving 3 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the rpms increased rapidly. Also, when approaching a stop light, the vehicle seized, but was able to restart. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mobile chevrolet (located at 2900 government blvd, mobile, al 36606, (251) 545-4291), but they were unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that two variable valve timing sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 82,000.

Regarding plugged pcv orifice leading to rear crankshaft oil seal blowout. Gm bulletin 14882 reports same issue, same engine, same year, under 100k miles on vehicle and gm refuses to cover the repair saying vin not on file for repair. Seems as though vehicle should be covered under this recall as well.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed oil leaking from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same symptom as listed in tsb number: 14882 (rear crank shaft). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 72,000.

Driving down the road doing 50. Car just dies out if no where. Pulled over and it would start. Waited 15 minutes and it would then start. Car engine sounded rough. Had the car towed to a mechanic. He told me the engine was blown. I contact chevy. They tell me to get it looked at by chevy dealer. Towed car to dealer. They have now informed me that the engine was locked and they believe no longer good. New engine will cost 8000. After doing some research, i see online this is a very common problem n with the engine in this model. And this engine is used in a few other models and experiencing the same problem. They tow truck driver and independent mechanic verified this was a common problem with this engine. Representative at chevy also verified this was a common problem with the engine. His name is [xxx]with friendly chevrolet in springfield illinois. Should these engines be failing? should consumers be faced with this issue. Please help.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Our vehicle has all of the symptoms and problems associated with the gm special coverage adjustment 14882, document id 4098165. However, gm claims that our vehicle is not covered based on the vin. This issue can cause the vehicle to lose all oil and shut down, destroy the engine, and in the worst case catch fire. In my wife's case she was able to make it off the highway and park before the vehicle fully shut down. There is apparently a class action lawsuit going on about this item.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While the vehicle was operated at various speeds, it lost power without warning. Folsom chevrolet (12655 auto mall cir, folsom, ca) diagnosed that there was excessive oil consumption. The manufacturer stated that the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased was responsible for remedying the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

I heard a small noise. Took my captiva to my shop to check it out. They wouldn't even let me drive it to my dealer which was 2 miles away. They had it towed. The 2.4l engines also in gmc's terrain and equinox, eat up oil quickly and blow out your engine. Luckily my service people found it. But it cost me $5,000 for a new engine because i was now at 104,000 and my warranty ran out at 100,000. Now there is a recall on terrains and equinox but not the captiva's. And we have the same engines.

Engine running out of oil. Burning oil excessively

My car has been check since i buy the car i already changed two sensor the my mechanic told me to do and i still having the same problem. Also my liftgater wont not work either i have lost power on my car

The vehicle has been consuming a lot of oil. So much that i need to set a reminder on my calendar to check every 2 weeks. It did not leak oil.on 12/19/2019 at 134k, i was driving and noticed the car's power weakened. It stalled, i started and went on the highway. Stability traction warning light came on as well as decreased engine power. I had my hazards on and coasted to a gas station off the highway. I check my oil. I nearly had any. Mind you on 12/9 i had to have my heat fixed and paid for a new blend door heat actuator. They also added 2 quarts of oil on 12/9. I hardly had any 10 days later.after adding 2 qts the vehicle sounded okay and off i went. Within 5 minutes, on the highway, all the warning lights came on again.the car was decreasing engine power. It was terrifying. I made it off the highway onto another highway and broke down in the breakdown lane during rush hour.. Engine would not start.my mechanic said the rear main seal come out and lost all the oil. There is a bulletin about this happening during cold weather. I took good care of the vehicle and am angry and disappointed in chevy for being aware of issues and not having a recall.i have to buy another car now.

While driving my vehicle on the highway while it was raining i heard a noise and my passenger side wiper stopped working.this sounds like a problem that was involved on 2013 equinox (captiva probably uses many of the same components).nhtsa campaign number 16v582000- gm's recall number for this is 25302.luckily the driver side wiper continued to operate properly.this is definitely a safety hazard and should be covered by gm and if the repair has already been made, should be reimbursed by gm.i am presently working on getting the problem fixed.i also experienced as many others have (lots of complaints online) about an oil problem with the ecotec 2.4 engine.like many others who experienced stalling problems, when i took my vehicle to my mechanic they found out i was out of oil.(09/21/2018)now i am constantly checking the oil level in my vehicle.this is also a major problem that relates to safety and by viewing the many complaints on line, it seems as though gm has no intention of doing anything about it.present mileage on vehicle is 78,000.it's a nice vehicle, but these serious problems need to be dealt with by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While the contact's husband was driving 55 mph, the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that an unknown gasket failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. The vin was not available.

My captiva leaves no trace of oil on the garage floor but burns through oil fast enough i must add oil between oil changes. Vehicle does not smoke so i don't know where it goes. I know several other people with captivas that have had the same problem and some have had their motors replaced. I cant believe there is no recall on something to do with the oil issue as i know of at least 2 other people that problem. Now i am dealing with a leaky radiator and have made an appointment to have that fixed. A 7 year old car with just over 100k on it should not have these problems. If i hadn't checked the oil, the motor no doubt would have seized up going down the road and who knows what would have happened. I don't know the exact date that we finally had to start adding oil but it has been over a year. I am finally tired of having to check oil like i own a 200k car.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet capitiva. The contact stated that the vehicle shook while at a stop and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to clift buick gmc (517-759-1361, located at 1115 s main st, adrian, mi 49221) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle consumed too much oil and there was moisture in the oil. The technician also diagnosed that the pvc gauge and the piston needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Brought the vehicle into a chevy dealer because it was consuming oil much quicker than normal. I was having to put roughly 2 quarts in every week. I do mostly small town driving so nothing too extensive. The dealer showed no external leaks and suggested doing a diagnostic to see if there was internal consumption. Came to find that the piston rings inside the engine are bad and need to be replaced. According to them, this is a common problem for chevy suvs made during this time. To replace would mean to rebuild the entire engine and costs around $3,200 if you can find a shop willing to mess with it. Very disappointed. My sister had the same problem in an equinox. Her rings were recalled and chevy replaced for free. Would love to have them look into this as it seems like most people are having the same problem...oil consumption and engine idling issues. Sucks for a car to be less than 7 years old and be undriveable. Will think twice before purchasing another chevy.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While driving at low speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the paint on the hood of the vehicle was fading. On several occasions, the vehicle was taken to hare chevrolet (2001 stony creek rd, noblesville, in 46060, (855) 971-7214) where it was diagnosed that the intake camshaft solenoid valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 98,000.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While reversing, the vehicle stalled. The contact also mentioned that two quarts of oil needed to be added each week. The vehicle was towed to kunes country ford lincoln of sterling (2811 n locust st, sterling, il 61081, (815) 625-6300) where the contact was informed that the bent valve cylinder head and components needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure occurred because the cylinder "jumped time". The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Smelled something burning when dropped kids off at school, about 2 miles down the road while driving, it started hesitating at the stop light. 1 mile later and still driving down the highway at 40 mph,it started making a loud rattle noise and all the dash lights came on. Luckily, it was 2 blocks from home so pulled in the drive and noticed oil all over. Checked the oil dipstick and had a hissing sound with no oil reading on the stick. Everytime you start it now, it leaks oil. Took it to my mechanic and he said its a clogged pvc which blew the rear seal. My car has 89,950 miles on it

Oil just burns out of it. I would have to put oil in it every week to every other week. I got my regular oil changes and it didn't matter still needed oil constantly.till my motor finally was blown with no oil even though i had just put some in. Wasn't leaking i had it looked at to see if was.

I have had the 2013 chevy captiva sport for almost 6 months. After i have been driving for about 30 minutes and stop at a red light/stop sign. It either shuts off or begins to shake forward and backward. It does not matter if i am in a little town, highway, interstate, etc., it does the same thing. My wiper warning light and sound along with my battery light, and random indicator lights and sounds go off randomly. The only accurate lights are the seatbelt and door ajar indicator lights. When the heater or ac is on the vehicle shakes more. When my battery light is on, i cannot turn my high beams on. The eco system does not work at all. The key gets stuck when it wants too. No specific time of day or time traveled. The steering wheel gets stuck randomly when i make a sharp turn. The turning signal has its frequent moment when it will not turn off. This is a very dangerous road hazard for other drivers. Most of these defects occur twice a week.

I had my oil changed 3 days ago, started my car after the work was complete and parked it less than 2 minutes later after traveling 1/4 mile to the grocery store. I attempted to restart my car after my shopping was complete less than 10 minutes later and was unable to as the engine would not start. I have now been informed by my mechanic that i should have my entire engine replaced. Prior to that, i have had oil consumption issuesand i have been informed by several other mechanics that this is a frequent problem with this model a car. Despite having had my vehicle regularly serviced as recommended, i am constantly having to add oil in between servicing. This vehicle has major oil consumption and engine failure issues that should be dealt with immediately. Had i known these problems would be in my future, i would never have purchased this vehicle and put my family at risk. The fact that this model has not been recalled is a major oversight and ridiculously irresponsible.

The engine is burning oil between changes - drove to washington dc from south carolina alone and when i arrived i happened to check the oil and the dip stick was dry.added 3 quarts and returned home - once again it was down added another 2 quarts. Mind you, no service light ever indicated a problem.on going issue for about a year now as my regular mechanic has tried to find the leak to no avail. Took it to the chevy dealership and they can't find a leak...reviewed the internet and found that this seems to be the problem with gmc vehicles.

Boughr the suv from dealer with 63 k miles.did oil changes on time and maintenance. Car engine is nliwn at 86k miles. First the car started ti idke riugh during stops.cmtook in. They replaced crankshaft sensors. Cleaned throttle.body.ran ok for 2 months.then problem came back. However the next day the suv wouldn't start. Did a crank no start i changed the battery, tried the spark plugs, fuel filter.still no crank. The mechanic who looked at it found that.the timing chain lost tension.. Becausea plastic clip. Which holds twnsion on the timing chain was missing..a plastic piece.. Caused my timing to shift where it messed up the ecm. This caused the pistons to shoot when the valve was closed.so now a car i bought for 12k. And paid off.. Only to put 20k miles on it.. Will cost me 7k for a refurbished engine swap.

When stopped at red light or stop sign it cuts off. Also it hesitates when proceeding to go. It just started doing this when i put e85 gas in there. My manual says i can use this gas and my gas cap is yellow with e85. Help me please!!!

Last year it kept going dead, i had just had oil changedhad it checked by mechanic it was out of oil, he replaced sensors because they went out because no oil, i failed complaint with company i used for oil change thinking they did not put oil back in it, they pd for repair. In june had oil changed 2 wks later it started making clattering sound, out of oil again and still had 3000 miles left before another change. Took it to company he informed me 2.4 eco motor had a law suit last yr for oil usage thru engine pistons, i was never sent a notice of recall or anything. I believe this has been problem all along.now i'm stuck with a vehicle i'm worried will stop on me.and gm will not pay to have it looked at or nothing. I can not afford another car, and this one has been serviced and taken very good care of. Any suggestions . Car was in motion

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed smoke underneath the hood and the vehicle stalled. The contact also observed oil spilling out from underneath the vehicle and the tail pipe. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed home. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 115,000.

I was on my way to work and was approximately 25 minutes into my commute when my oil light began to flash off and on.approximately 2 minutes later, my car began to stall and i had smoke coming out from the hood of my car.i had to pull over on the shoulder of the interstate highway i was driving on, where it was noticed i had oil leaking underneath of my car and that oil sprayed all over the back of my car.the dealership where i took my vehicle had to tear down my engine to diagnose the cause of the breakdown.water got into the pcv valve and froze inside of it (it was 3 degrees that morning when this occurred).the ice caused a blockage of air which caused my rear main seal to leak oil to a low level that damaged my engine. While the oil was pumping out, it broke a rod,a piston, scarred up crank bearings, wiped out the timing chain, among other engine parts. I had an extended warranty on my vehicle, which did not cover the damage to my car.when i spoke to the supervisor of the warranty company, he explained to me that many vehicles on east coast have suffered the same damage (there were 8 vehicles in 10 days in the shop where my car is in st. Louis, mo that had the same thing happen as well).since the warranty company did research to find out gm had a design flaw with the pcv valve, they suggested i have gm cover the repairs.gm also has a special coverage adjustment (14882) for this same issue.however, they are claiming that since my vehicle wasn't made at a particular plant, the repair would not be covered at 100% and quoted me a bill of approximately $6800 to fix my car.i have kept up with my car maintenance, i had no way of knowing this would happen to my car, especially driving down an interstate highway.this damage happened in a 3 minute time span.this part should be recalled, and gm should be liable for the repairs to my vehicle.

Purchased care used at 76,000. Car went for repairs once after 4 month of ownership, was jerking. Camshaft actuator was replaced at this time. Oil change was done at this time as well. Six months later car begins to jerk repeatedly in drive and reverse when coming to a stop or idling, no warning lights lit. Upon inspection was found with no oil at all. Car was 3,500 into an oil change - burned through all oil. Since researching, this is a very common problem with the 2.4 l eco engine, same as chevy equinox. Engine is being repaired, may need replacement. Very upsetting owning vehicle under a year, and under 100,000 miles. Chevy needs to acknowledge this major issue with the captiva.

This vehicle was mechanically sound for the entire time i have owned it (4 years) up until this fatal engine issue.initially i noticed that over the course of 2 or 3 weeks my 2013 captiva sport was consuming oil.never saw any evidence of leaks on the ground.i was planning on taking it into the garage for an evaluation, but never had the chance.i was driving down the highway and the rear main seal blew.i stopped the vehicle immediately and shut it down, but the oil literally just "flew" right out of it.ironically, this is the same issue that many other chevy 2.4l ecotec engines are having with the pcv clogging and blowing out the rear main seal.i contacted chevrolet, and of course, they will not cover this even though they put out a tsb with extended coverage for vehicles with this issue.

Starting about 6 months ago, my "check engine" light started coming on and that it would start shaking when i was sitting idel.i took my captiva to a mechanic.i was told that he believed it dealt with oil consumption.i drive only short distances to my work, so i should not be using very much oil.every time i have had the light come on, i take it in and they basically have to replace the majority of my oil.the vehicle is burning it much faster than it should be.

Check engine light came on while driving;dealer said timing chain and cam assembly needed to be replaced $1750.timing chain is supposed to last life of vehicle. Dealer and chevy will not provide reason itoccured at 69k mi other than "it happens". I asked if engine was2.4l lea, laf ecotrain covered in 11/19 $42m class action settlement.dealer told me "dual overhead cam".chevy/gm said2.4l 4 cylinder. Vehicle bought - barlow chevy, delran, nj with 12,500 miles/pre-owned certified-previously a fleet vehicle.oil changed every 4,100 miles based on opw/olm systems.no warning priorto check engine.repairs cost $1,650-no guarantee of future engine damage issues settlement says gm will repair piston rings/damage,& increase warranty to 10yr/120,000 at no cost & provid $4500 above settlement to consumers.they told me vehicle is safe; suit says - could catch fire or just stop causing a rear end collision.i transport 2 toddlers & drive hwy.settlement said gm knew of defects since 2009; not disclosed to buyers, not recalled, no offer of suitable repairs.gm & dealer in direct violation of settlement. The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change and was informed that the engine oil was low. The vehicle was serviced again 1,500 miles later and the oil was low again; however, there was no indication of an oil leak. The contact called larry h miller chevrolet murray (5500 s. State street, murray, ut 84107, (801) 264-3220) and was informed to schedule a service appointment. The contact was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 80,000.

On 11/9/2015 my suv engine cut off and i lost all power to operate it. The key would not come out of the ignition. I was attempting to come to a stop on two occasions on the same day and could not continue normal vehicle operations. I am taking the vehicle back to the dealer 11/10/2015.

The specialwarranty campaign number 14882. I was told since my vin wasn't part of it when i called corporate that there is a chance i would be responsible for the cost. It's at the dealer right now as my mechanic research all this when i wound up having oil coming out of my exhaust and when i opened my hood it was smoking after it was just fixed for an oil leak 3 weeks ago. My mechanic refused to touch it as when he further research he found what the problem was a result of this campaign number 14882. I am very upset as i was never inform of this special warranty (technically i feel it should be a recall) my suv has all the qualifications so i am puzzled why a vin would have anything to do with it! if my young son was in the car with me and i wasn't being aware who knows if something worse could have happened! this happened on 1/21/19 when it was 5 degrees outside on my way to work. Isn't the safety of your consumers a priority. I am so upset, distraught and angry that is was issue was known back in 2015 and i had no clue. Then i am being treated and told that there's a chance i will be responsible. How is that fair??? i want answers i was on a major highway called the garden state parkaway luckily i was able to get to safety once i saw white smoke coming out of my back and hood. If you can look closely at the back of my car you can see oil all over it from the exhaust. The day before when i went to work i was fine. I am scared to drive this suv and what else am i not being notified about i had problems with exhaust manifold 3 times that needed to be replaced. Are these all related if so how do i get reimbursed for thousands of dollars? i shouldn't be treated like dirt instead i should be treated with respect especially when i have this issue under this specific special warranty!

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. The contact stated that the vehicle used an excessive amount of oil (two quarts of oil between oil changes). There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hawkins chevrolet (1244 montour blvd, mahoning twp, pa 17821, 570-275-0711) where an oil consumption test was performed that revealed excessive oil was used. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered to pay ten percent of the repair cost. The contact filed complaint number: bcp-19-05-014150 with the state attorney general. The failure mileage was 67,000.

Rear main seal broke and spewed oil everywhere. The mechanic stated it was installed improperly.it cost $944 to repair and i would greatly appreciate if i could be reimbursed.

Car has stalled out 7 times in a month. Dealer ship cant find what the problem is have towed it 7 times. The car stall with no warning or light. Call gm they cant do anything. Car stalled while driving this is unsafe

Thanks

My car has been check since i buy the car i already changed two sensor the my mechanic told me to do and i still having the same problem. Also my liftgater wont not work either i have lost power on my car

Bracket that hold the e-brake cable to the frame and also creates tension that enables the e-brake to engage broke off the frame where it was originally welded.the e-brake does not engage causing the vehicle to roll.the dealer located the bracket but said that they do not weld.the dealer says that the bracket needs to be welded back on to the frame.the dealer does not do welding.this is a manufacturing defect.

The brake peddle fails to return to the normal operating height while the vehicle is in motion causing the brake lights as well as the brakes to stay on only when the heat is directed at your feet for long periods of time. I have been to the dealer several times for this concern as well as contacting gm directly regarding this concern and they dont seem to care about this safety concern.this issue happens when the vehicle is being operated under normal conditions with the heat on after 30 mins of driving and then the peddle with start to stick

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet captiva. After parking the vehicle, it failed to restart without warning. In addition, the contact mentioned that the steering wheel seized and was difficult to maneuver when attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed. The technician informed the contact of how to start the vehicle. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

I was driving around a curve and it just shut off. I couldnt steer or do anything

Vehicle stationary in park the key won't come out of the ignition. The other issue is thedefrost vent heat sometimes blows cold for a few hours. It seems to get stuck on defrost and it won't close the door over to the other vents. It seems that it could be a program issue. The switches seem to work it will heat up.noticed it does it a lot on windy cold nights then in the morning it won't work for a few hours. Please help!safety issues if you can't see outside the window when blowing cold air.

I purchase the car 2014 and i have noticed that there i a blind spot in the frontand the back of the car.the body on the left side of the car is too wide and the headrest on the passenger side is to high can not see smaller cars

I was driving home from work on the morning of october 14, 2015 when the sunroof literally shattered into pieces.it sounded just like a shotgun going off in the inside of the car.i did not hit anything, nor did anything hit the car.the roof "just exploded."if this is a defect in the glass, i do not feel it is fair that i pay to have this repaired.

My car has been check since i buy the car i already changed two sensor the my mechanic told me to do and i still having the same problem. Also my liftgater wont not work either i have lost power on my car

While driving at any speed, the traction control and parking brake indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to holiday automotive (321 n rolling meadows dr., fond du lac, wi), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 78,500. The vin was not provided.

The driver side seatbelt is becoming unusable do to unravilingi was told by the dealer wallace cheverloet stwerat fl.

My vehicle's (2013 chevy captiva sport) service air bag light has come on for the third time since may 1, 2015. I took it to the chevy dealer after the first time but they couldn't determine the cause. 2nd incident i contacted onstar -diagnostic showed "computer malfunction" with the air bag. The passenger presence module was replaced on 6-16-15. Today, 3rd incident, 6-26-15. Contacted onstar-diagnostic showed "general computer malfunction". I do not feel confident that my air bags will function properly if needed. I will be talking to the service department again tomorrow. This is a major safety issue.

Ongoing sporadic problem - ignition switch locks and am unable to turn key to start vehicle.called dealership before the vehicle went out of warrantee and was told they couldn't fix and diagnose the problems unless they problem happened while it was at the dealership.sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes to get the key to turn.

Keys kept getting stuck in ignition.had at dealer over 12 times kept fixing stuff and problem would not go away. Finally fixed the shifter module ?? this was $1200 later.this would happen when not running.

I key stuck in ignition. Turn car off cannot remove key from ignition

Horrible stench in my car due to a dead rat in my cars ventilation system.i found the "root cause" after approx. 2 weeks since first stench appearance. The rat was already dead and the particle filter was full of dung, so that all car passengers (often my son and always me) did breath this harmful and contaminated air (see hantavirus which could be initiated also by rat dung).im very wondering that this could happen and why this has not been prevented or has not been foreseen (design fmea) by responsible engineering responsible. Animals in engine compartment are well known but i never heard of them in ventilation system!

Key stuck in ignition. Will not come out. And if you leave it in there, the battery will go dead.this should be a recall on this vehicle as i see many others with the exact same problem !!! mileage (approx 80,000).

Two problems:first the ignition switch froze.could not turn off car.had to get it towed to dealer.they finally repaired that, next, the transmission froze.that was a few weeks later.they supposedly fixed that.last week the transmission froze again.towed to dealer, they said they fixed, got it back friday.froze again today and we have had it towed to dealer.what if it freezes while in drive?what if ignition freezes while car is on and cannot turn it off??

Acceleration: hestitates when pressing the gas, has gone on since i took ownership did not realize it was a problem until others started mentioning it.

When using the visor to block the sun from my side window, it hits me in the head every time i turn the wheel. It doesn't have to be a sharp or fast turn in order for it to move and hit me. No it doesn't hurt, however it is very distracting especially going up an on-ramp that is forty feet in the air! my eyes are sensitive and any direct sunlite is painful to me. It's hard to believe chevy expects me to put a piece of paper in the window to block the sun rather than fix the problem. I took the car to the dealership where we bought it and they said there is nothing wrong with it, that's the way the factory made it therefore there was no defect. The service man understood what i was saying and did try to tighten it which did not work so he screwed(wedged) a screw in the "ball" part and made the visor stiffer. It's not perfect by far but i think it might work. Chevy service men should not have to "micky mouse" a chevy part in order for it to work. You'd think after spending $18,000 the visors would work. So simple yet so important.
