Horn stopped working and was replaced in november of 2001. At this time horn stopped working again.

When depressing horn buttons,horn does not work.horn switch was replaced in december of 1999. This was the second time the swtich has been replaced.first time was in april of 1996.dealer was called about the problem,problem has not been corrected. *ml
Horn button is plastic. Consumer can push the button straight through, causing it to get stuck. Dealer will be notified.

The dashboard had to be replaced because of toxic fumes. Later the instrument panel caught on fire while parked. Dealer has to replace whole dashboard.
Headlights will suddenly come on in daylight and instrument panel lights will suddenly go off due to failure of the instrument cluster.

Owner found that seat belt latchs will open if slapped.

The left rear seat belt retractor is not retracting back.tt

Front driver, and passenger seat belts recoil spring keep wearing through the plastic housing that holds it in place, causing the seat belts not to retract. The dealer has been contacted.
When using the driver's front & the passenger left rear seat belts, the retractors would fail to work properly. The seat belts would stay out & would not retract backwards to the original position.
The seat belt retractor on the passenger's side is broken. The belt will not retract back into the mechanism. The problem has not been corrected.
Driver/pass shoulder/lap belts assemblies inoperative,won't retract into assembly, belts have extended fully.

While driving my caprice, i pulled at the seat shoulder belt to readjust its position.it released, allowing all the belt material to be loosely held around me.i am not an athletic female and did not pull hard.i contacted gm.they stated that although seat belts are safety devices, they are only guaranteed to function during the warranty period or 36,000 miles.they said i was responsible to pay to have the seat belts replaced and would not have assumed any liability had a wreck occurred when the seat belt failed.the case number at gm is 990281010.i re-filed the complaint this week.i also discussed the issue with gm in december.

The abs relay and brake pressure modulator valve failed prior to recall notice, after repair failed again and was not repaired as part of recall.
Vehicle was repaired under recall 97v217 on june 8, 1998.vehicle is continually leaking brake fluid. Recall notice states that dealer will repair abs modulator to stop brake fluid leakage.dealer and manufacturer have been notifiedof existing problem.

Driver applied brakes, pedal went to floor, caused rearend collision.prior to crash/when coming to stop, instead of stopping, picked up speed, dealer found no problems.
While driving abs brakes went out, pedal went down to floor, no brake fluid (electronic brake modulator). Dealer informed driver what problem was.

The vehicle experienced total brake failure as a result of a leaking abs modulator, after the repair the consumer came acroos a safety recall which he never received for the repair of the modulator and request that the dealer should be responsible for the cost of a new modulator.nlm

After we took our 92 caprice in for oil change on oct. 22 with complimentary check of the brakes at dealer, we were told we needed the brakes replaced, especially the back ones, with the front ones needing replacedment in a few months.going home the abs warning light came on & stayed on.this was the first time the light had gone on while driving.we stopped the car & light went off, but after began driving light went back on & stayed on.we took caprice to dealer & they checked it & reported that we needed a modulator valve at a cost of $1400, plus labor. They said the motor in it has worn out. Is this a defective part? they said the recall for abs was for leaky fluid, not this particular problem.
Recall work was completed.went to pick up vehicle and the brake lights were on.took vehicle to another dealer and they said that the modulator valve needed to be replaced, and there would be a charge of $1200 for this service. Anyway the owner thinks that this should had been part of the recall. Consumer believes that this was the poorest recall job done.the abs modulator was replaced,why couldn't they just as well replaced the modulator valve? how different are the two parts .
I own a 1992 caprice station wagon.after driving from new york to oklahoma in january of 2001, i experienced total brake failure as a result of the leaking of the abs modulator on this car.a used abs modulator was purchased and was used to replace the failed part.on 4-24-2001, i came across a safety alert for this type of vehicle in the internet that indicated that there had been a recall for the part that had failed in my vehicle.the recall # is gm campaign #97058 and the nhtsa # is 97v217.the safety alert states that "dealers will inspect these vehicles and replace the abs modulator."to the best of my knowledge, this work was never done nor did i ever receive notice of a recall.i spoke with a customer assistance person at 1-800-222-1020 regarding this matter today and was initially told that my vehicle was not included in the recall.after about 20 minutes, this person agreed that not only was my vehicle included in the recall but that the recall work had been performed on 5-27-99 when the vehicle had 91k miles.i can assure you that this work was never done and the part was never replaced on this vehicle.i have the original part and the used part that i purchased to replace it seems to be ok for now.the customer assistance person was unable to tell me which dealership performed the work.she gave me a file # which was c03934587.i believe that chevrolet should be responsible for the cost of a new abs modulator and the labor to install it.this seems to be the intent of the recall notice as i read it.my nearest chevrolet dealer is davidson chevrolet on outer washington st, in watertown, ny 13601. 1992 caprice does not give maximum slow down or stop ability.the consumer feels that the abs brakes do not adequately stop the vehicle during panic stops.
Abs modulator failed in july 1995. Contacted gm zone ofice at 914-222-1020. In july 1995. They would not replace the abs modulator because i was the second owner. I am reporting this failure at this late date because my wife's 1995 buick whick she purchased new has also had an abs failure. I will submit a report of this failure also. Feel that gm may have abs problems in many of its makes of cars. Both of our gm cars have abs systems that have failed. Thank you.

Rear control arm broke causing the left rear tire to rub against fender resulting in lock up and skidding, recall on vehicle's however consumer's vehicle denied due to vin#.

While driving the tread on the right rear tire came off the tire causing damage to the right rear panel of the vehicle (firestone fr 721 tire size: 215/75r15).nlm
The tire on the front drivers side lost its tread and tore off the wheel well molding and damaged the inside cover,causing consumer to loose control of vehicle, the tires were original equipment on the vehicle at the time of purchase (general radial size 15).nlm
I purchased my first vehicle, no line of credit at a auto auction, car cost 2,648.07 and payments $167.61 total 8,039.62 paid $ 1,000.00 cash deposit.the car broke down the next day, i had it towed to a garage, the warranty would not fix the car. Garage owner called audition owner to pick up the car as repo with my approval, and i also call and gave address to car auction dealer.they did not respond, the garage owner with my permission sold the car to someone who were to take over the car payments.the garage person said he did, and gave me $300.00, and said there is no need for me to do paper work a lien from the people would be sufficient, and they will contact the auto auction and take over the payments.i pleaded can i get paper so i can follow up, and the garage owner kept avoiding me.now i was given a call from the auto auction owner, they located the car, it was sold three times all still having me as the owner, and a lien was never placed on it, nor did anyone contact the company to take over the payments.my mom said i transacted this business as very green, and they all took advantage of me.now i will be sued, if i do not bring them 2,500 dollars for hiring an investigator to locate the car.the auto auction has the car, and does not want to negotiate but rather demand another type of payment for troubles i was unaware of.the garage owner is full of lies, i have him on tape recorder,and he is trying to get out of things pointing to him as a business car sales person miss representing me and not transacting in a professional manner. What do i do from here.
