My service air bag light came on so i took it to the dealership to get it looked at. They told me it is just a sensor and you need to pay $900 for us to fix it. I don't have $900. About a month later i notice my dash on the passenger side starting to crack a bit and then a few weeks later a see my dash is now starting to bulge and it has a outline where my air bag is. I am terrified that it is going to deploy while i'm driving and my wife or a child is in the seat when it blows. I have read numerous blogs concerning the exact same issue with the air bags and i can't figure out why this is not already a recall issue.
Service airbag light is on. It has been on since car had about 38k miles on it. It is on at all times. Was intermittingly at first when someone sat in passenger seat. I know there is a class action suit and i would like to be a part of it.
A electrical fuse short has caused the passenger airbag to no longer activate/ turn on when a passenger is in the front seat. Thus, when a passenger is in the seat, the air bag will not deploy. Both the fuse and the module are required to be replaced. No damage or change was done to the vehicle to cause the shortage in the electrical system.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that there was a fracture in the dashboard by the passenger's side air bag housing. The vehicle was not taken to be inspected nor repaired. Neither a dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
My vehicle has 40,970 miles on it and the passenger side air bag sensor failed and it needed to be replaced.i would be able to understand the driver side air bay sensor failing with 40,000 miles on it, but not the passenger side air bag sensor which has less miles on it.my mechanic told me that this has been a problem that chevy is aware of and that they have not made any changes to the replacement air bag sensors to correct this defect.the sensor costs over $400.00 to replace.
Repair air bag light displays on instrument panel. Car take to dealership and even though i bought extended warranty the say it's not covered and the want $600.00 to fix it. I checked internet and there are lots of people having the same problem.
I have taken my car into the dealership and had them check it out to see what is wrong and for $100 diagnosis charge. They told me that it needs a new passenger airbag sensor...on the repair ticket it is stated as dtc b0081 passenger seat problem. I have around 55,000 miles and no warranty left. Researched this issue and found many types of gm chevy models with the same issue. This cost should not be on the consumer and should be investigated. If you can help please email me at [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Went to get an oil change last week. After the oil change, my "service air bag" light is on. Talked with the mechanic and he showed me everything he had touched on my vehicle. Took my car to the chevy dealership in aberdeen md and they said that an oil change would not interfere with the airbag sensor. One of the service guys told me it is normally a wire that needs to be changed. They scheduled me for an appointment for monday but after doing research i decided to hold off. I do not think i should be fixing a safety issue, plus i am seeing this common in these cars. What are chevy's plans to fix? i have been driving my 11 year old son around in a car that could potentially be a death trap for him.
Tamara recall.the air bag light is on check engine light is on theac is on and off.
Air bag service option keep coming up on my screen while on the expressway and city streets i turned off onto after being frightened by the message. Barely had the car 5 months and it started. It would chime them disappear. This is very scary and makes me view my car as a ticking death trap. I dont feel i need to pay for this out of pocket for this. As itdeals with the safety of the car from a company i trust.
Service airbag light on recently purchased vehicle.see class action suit filed on this and many complaints, but no investigations or reacalls.what are my options?
For the passed few month i've notice my passenger airbag sensor hasn't been working right, but never thought anything major about it. I don't have a lot of people in my passenger seat so it wasn't a problem at first. Now it's become annoying and make me feel bad about my car. I just took to the dealership and they told me what i already knew that the module has a defect.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the passenger air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the passenger side seat air bag sensor mat was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 17,500 and the current mileage was 18,000.
My passenger side airbag does not recognize when i have a passenger that meets the weight requirements, i have read several forums of same problems and can't seem to get chevy to realize this is a malfunction and a safety issue, i think that a recall should be made and this should not be owners expense, but my local dealer says it is. This posses a threat to my passengers and could cause malfunction in any of my airbags.
Air bag light came on and will not go off; i have seen several reports online of others having the same problem.
Passenger air bag sensor did not detect a passengerin the seat, had to pay $$ to have this replaced. On star red light was also on then green on & off.on star said it a communication failed & with the accident notification. The car was checked at dealership same time the air bag sensorwas checked.then checked 2 more times since.the dealership could not find the problem & told us they would have to take dash & console out to find problem at our expense & our expense for a diagnostic again.we now have the car at a different gm dealership that has a testing instrument for the antenna and. It charging us for the diagnostic.we bought this car off show room at dealership for our daughter to have a dependable safe car to get her through high school & college.no the extended warranty hasn't covered any of this.
After driving home from work, i parked my car in my driveway. I went inside my house to grab something. After 3 minutes, i went back to my car to start it. All of a sudden the service airbag message appeared. This has never happened before. I researched online and i saw numerous complaints about the 2010 camaro and how the airbag sensors are faulty. I took my car to the chevy dealership in bridgewater nj. They determined that the sdm needs to be replaced on the car. They are going to charge 950 dollars for the repair. They stated that my airbags do not work. They also stated that they were unsure if the airbags could deploy on their own. This is clearly a known issue by gm, but yet no recall. Why is there no recall on this? how is gm allowed to make money off this, from 800-1000 per car. This is clearly dangerous. I have to drive with no airbags until i can afford the fix. Please investigate. Clearly this is an issue for the 2010 camaro.
We told dealer about trouble air bag before warranty and they checked free under warranty claimed due to oversize tires after we used tires up to milage and got new back to factory size tires and advised this did not clear up the notice on panel - check airbag as there was nolight on at that time they want 1,000 to fix although we tried and even went back before the 36,000 went out to explain after warranty etc and they said no worries after tires are used and replace and realigned if it doesnt clear they would take care of it rivergate tom bannen is now serra we purchased a 2012 camaro and noticed the recall in 2012 although we continued to drive with the check airbag code the dealer assured we were in no danger and the airbag will deploy although we are fearful it will not especially now we know there is a recall for the 2012 we know it should apply to the 2010 also fyi - we also will complain on another affected part we have paid $800 for recent that also should apply that only applies to 2012.
While driving at highway speed "service airbags" light came on for no apparent reason.this car has never been in an accident and did not come in contact with anything.light is still on and repair "estimate" is between $750.00 and $1500.00.car had approximately 32000 miles on the odometer when this occurred but because the car is 4 years old chevrolet will not warranty this safety problem.
The problem started out with the "service airbag" warning displaying on the information screen on the dash and the airbag warning light coming on when i had a passenger in the vehicle.according to the on/off light on the dome light the passenger bag is off when this warning comes on.over the past month it has gotten worse and it progressed to just having the warning go off all the time now, even when i don't have a passenger.i have noticed that this is a recurring problem with the 2010 model airbag sensors going bad.i have seen many blogs that people are having the same issue with their airbag sensor.i have even read that this fix costs over $800 to the consumer.since this is a safety issue and this will result in a failure of the airbags in the event of a crash and most likely deaths, i feel that gm should be responsible for putting a substandard part into their safety equipment and fix the problem.when you put into perspective how little use the passenger seat gets, because i only have a passenger in the car for maybe 5-10% of the time.so that means that i have only had someone in that seat for only 2500-5000 miles.that airbag sensor has had very little use and it went bad already.i fear that none of the airbags will deploy in the event of a crash, or even worse deploy while driving and then causing an accident.
No air bags did not deploy.
Vehicle has had a code of p008 intermittently then permanently since 68000 miles, it is now at 99,500 miles. The code relates to timing chain stretching which is causing engine misfire. Same problem with identical engine has been addressed in form of warranty extension for several vehicles, including cadillac cts, extending warranty to 10 years or 120k miles. This has not been done for the camaro for reasons which elude me. Occasional problems with stalling and reduced power (especially in situations requiring the additional power), as well as engine "roughness" certainly cause safety concerns for me.in addition, the problem with the passenger safety bag seat pad sensor has been ongoing and is also not recalled, although the system keeps passenger airbag off in the presence of a passenger due to a short in the pad, also well-documented and clearly a safety hazard. The interior lighting system is simply a nuisance and not a safety concern at this time. The cost of repairs is staggering, and i've never seen an instance where a timing chain needed to be replaced during the expected operating period of a vehicle with normal use. Clearly it is a design flaw which needs to be addressed, as it has been with other vehicles utilizing this engine. The number of instances which go unreported and simply get repaired at the owner's expense is also quite significant, according to the research i have done. Please note that this problem started intermittently in late 2016 and has become a continual problem as of this writing. The check engine light is always on at this point, with the p008 code.
The contact owned a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While at a complete stop, the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle that was traveling approximately 50 mph. On impact, the steering wheel and the steering column fractured and landed in the contact's lap. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000. Updated 09/18/15*lj
Passenger side service air bag light turns on anytime i place something on the passenger seat or when someone sits down.this is a manufacturers defect in the airbag or airbag sensor and has been a problem since i first purchased the vehicle. I am concerned that if i have an accident the airbags will not deploy properly.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph over a pot hole, the transmission mounts and the motor mounts became fractured. Also, the contact mentioned that the front fascia of the vehicle slammed to the ground and the air bag failed to deploy. In another incident, the contact stated that while driving 2 mph, the vehicle stalled and the brakes failed to respond. As a result, the contact slightly crashed into a pedestrian with the vehicle and caused minor injuries to the pedestrian. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,500.
The passenger seat airbag sensor has malfunctioned and needs replaced at a cost of $1500.00.gm knows about the defect and that the passenger airbag will not deploy. There is currently a class action suit against the company.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving at 55 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle. As a result, the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a head concussion and cervical spine injuries that required medical attention. In addition, the driver and the passenger in the other vehicle both sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
I own a 2010 camaro with 65,000 miles. The passenger air bag system started shutting off and on randomly with a passenger in the seat approx. 2 weeks ago while on a weekend trip. I have taken the car to my dealer and contacted gm complaint center on this safety issue. It was diagnosed as the passenger seat sensor pad as the cause. They offered to replaceand cover labor but not the cost of part $311. My vehicle has 65000 miles on it i purchase it new and the passenger seat has not been used much at all. My concern is there are other complaints on this same issue obviously there is a problem with the seat pad sensor. The pad itself covers the entire seat bottom made of thin plastic with sensors between the plastic. I have a concern about the reliability of the air bag system even after the pad is replaced. Vehicles are engineered to be safe using seat belts and air bags together but they must function to do so. I hope gm steps up and looks into this safety issue before there is a failure that contributes to an injury or death. I will have it repaired but my confidence is low on the dependability of the air bag system in my camaro!

For the past three years there has been a tear in the top of the dash on the passenger side and it appears to be something under the dash is pushing up to create the slit in the dash. I am concerned that it is the airbag and i do not know if it is getting ready to go off on its own or exactly what is going on with it as it is growing. The slit or tear is aprox. 4 inches long and the bump up is to the right of it.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro 2ss. While driving 55 mph the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised her that the vehicle was safe to drive out of town.the dealer was unable to confirm if the air bags would deploy if the vehicle was involved in a crash. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times for the failure. On the fourth visit, the air bag modular was replaced. The failure mileage was 5,500 and the current mileage was 9,600.
The air bag light and alarm came on and off in the passenger seat when some one is sitting in it, and the service air bag light is on all the time, so apparently the passenger air bag is not on or will not deploy in case of an accident, so apparently the sensor in the seat is not working and in doing some research on this problem i have found this to be a major complaint for this model camaro and i hear it is very expensive to fix if its fixable at all
The airbag alert light keeps coming on and off.this happens stationary, moving, when someone is the seat or not, on bumpy roads, and all speeds.i took it to my mechanic, who said it's the passenger airbag sensor in the passenger seat that needs replacing.he suggested i go to the dealership to replace it.i took my car to the dealership.they want to charge me $800 to fix it.i have been researching meanwhile and this looks like a very common problem with the 2010 camaro.i do not understand why i would be asked to pay that much to fix something that isn't my fault and in fact appears to be a manufacturing error.on top of that, the dealership wants to charge me $150 to diagnose what i told them was wrong with the car when i brought it in!!!!
Check airbag light is on. Chevrolet dealer service department inspected and found codes b0081-00 & b0074-00, noting that the passenger presence pad shorted out and that pad controls the passenger side air bag.they recommend to remove and replace passenger presence pad (part #20972507).we have extended warranty but they are stating anything safety system related is not covered and should be under a manufacturer recall.
Air bag sensor under passenger wiring defective giving service air bag code this should be recalled due to safety issues
I had a air bag service, light come on for the passenger side seat, after i picked my son up, he sat down put on his seat belt, then i got the service air bag on my dash, and the light over the rear view mirror went from on to off, and stayed off.i called onstar to do a diagnostic test, and they said yes their showing a tsb code of boo81, and after doing some online research, i fined that this an on going issue. I have contacted gm customer service, they told me to contact my chevy dealer, to have a diagnostic test done, then contact gm again, to see if their going to cover this, but gm customer service rep said my car isn't under warranty, i let them no it's not a matter of warranty, it's a matter of safety and shouldn't matter if it's a warranty issue, something is defective, and gm should fix this as a defective part or parts related to the airbag system, i plan on bring it to the dealer wednesday 21 june for the diagnostic test. Which will cost about $150.00 dollars, just to fined what part of the airbag sys is defective, gm should fix this, for it is a matter of safety not warranty related issue.thanks [xxx]bmc {sw} us navy retired[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
I just notice 2 days ago that my service repairairbag light is on. The car has 37291 miles. I have seen that this is an issue with other camaros on the internet. Also the consumer is paying for these repair.what is going on and why should "we" pay for this?
With no one sitting in the passenger seat, i turned the car on and the passenger airbag light flashed on and off. The drivers panel airbag light was flashing. It would go off with some turns off the car.left or right didn't matter.this went on for a few months.if someone sat in the seat they would have to move around for the sensor to pick up they were in the seat.the airbag light in the drivers panel eventually stayed a solid light and no longer flashed.
2/25/15 - (camaro 2010 ss2, auto) upon startup the "check airbag " alarm sounded and displayed for about 5-8 seconds, and then normalized. I drove about town 15-20 miles with no further incident. 3/3/15 - while driving unto city street, the "check airbag" alarm sounded and flashed a momentary notice to have airbag serviced. I drove about 350 miles, stopping and starting at various times without further incidence.3/14/15 - while driving on city street (about 2 miles from home), the same occurrence as above was noted. I keep my camaro spotless and mostly in the garage. I've dismissed these incidents, but after reading other reports of similar responses, i feel compelled to make official note thereof.
We where driving looking at a local subdivision and we were doing 35 miles a hour when we hit a deer all air bags came out and i broke my wrist and my friend hurt his arm as well i was in the passenger side with my set belt on and when we hit the deer the air bag came out full force that i broke my wind shield as well
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that when an occupant was seated in the front passenger seat, the service air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the seat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
I have a display on dashboard that said service air bag, i went to the dealer and they told me i had to pay 900 dollar for an airbag sensor on the passenger side. I'm the only driver for the car and is rare when i have a passenger.i heard other people having the same issues.
Airbag warning first started appearing on the car. Now is off and on continuously reporting. Why is a relatively common fault on such an important safety component not a recall?
The warning light and message to "service airbag" illuminates when starting vehicle.the light remains on whether someone is seated in the passenger side or not.replacing the battery did not solve the problem.i'm not sure if the system is operating correctly or not.
Vehicle displays a "service airbag" light and message in the message display. I was told that this will lead to a non-deployable airbag in case of an accident. Several people have the same problem. I was told that the sensor is defective.
Around 60,000 miles the "check air bag" light came on. The passenger seat air bag comes on and goes off during travel.if i was to have an accident while the bag happens to have turned itself off, i'm afraid a much greater injury will occur. Dealer says its not under warranty and will cost around $1,000 to replace the computer board in passenger seat. I believe this affects other chevrolet models as well. Chevrolet should recall the circuit board before their customers are injured or killed.
Air bag light is on and when taken for service at don mealey chevrolet in clermont, fl they charged $115 for diagnostic and asked $816 for replacement part as the airbag might not deploy in the event of an accident.
Air bag sensor began going off on my 2010 camaro about 2 months ago.i took car to dealership and they said it would cost almost $1000 to replace the sensor.they could not tell me which airbag sensor was defective.they also could not tell me if the air bag would deploy if vehicle is hit.they did look for air bag recalls and found none; however, the fact that they could not determine if they air bags would deploy is a serious safety issue that i am asking you to look into.a car this new should not be having any safety issues.all service on the vehicle has been performed at the gm dealership where it was purchased.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving 10 mph and making a u-turn, the contact crashed the vehicle over a curb. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. On a separate occasion, the power steering seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v346000 (electrical system) and the vin was included. The contact stated that her daughter failed driving exams three times due to the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
I have three issues for my camaro 2010. First and most important is the the timing chain, the chain moved and activated the cam sensors. The cost to change it is princely. Second , the air bag light on the passenger is on. Took itto the dealer and paid and still they couldn't find the issue so they wanted more money.third, three of the tire sensors when on and dealer wants more money.the car runs with poor performance so i stop using it.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was started. The contact also stated that when the passenger seat was occupied, the service air bag warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred each time a passenger was seated in the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sensor in the passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the dealer deactivated the air bag on the passenger side. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.
Air bag warning light remains lit. First symptoms were when an occupant in the passenger seat sat down, air bag warning light came on. Now it just remains lit even without occupant.
Passenger air bag sensor keeps going off on the camaro when driving. Even with nothing on the seat, the "service air bag" message appears on the dash, but after driving for a short distance, it goes away. Then it comes back intermittently, again with nothing on the seat. The issue started appearing on its own. I've searched in online forums and see that a lot of owners are having the same issue, and when they take it to the dealer, the dealer expects folks to pay a high price to get the issue resolved. I've verified that there are no cables unplugged under the passenger seat and even verified that all cables are plugged in snugged to the module. If the issue exists with so many people reporting the same thing, why hasn't the manufacturer done a recall on this? are they expecting a fatality to occur before this gets addressed?
The image you see is an example of an airbag that a lady suffered from your recent recalled airbag tamara. I have similar evidence in the same exact and length and width cut as she does...i was a passenger in this car that become out of control, also an ignition recall was proven to hurt people in the 2010 camaro. I wasn't the drive so all i know is driver lost control an ran onto the side of the road into the grass, flush ground, inbetwen a fence and the road had 100-200 ft to brake and turn the car back on the road avoiding a colvert. But instead major malfunction.frontal airbags went off at the wrong time, also evidence shows airbag cut my throat, also side and sunroof airbags did not deploy! vehicle went airborn, all ends of vehicle was impacted. Note. Passenger! not owner!
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the service air bags warning light remained illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to apple chevrolet dealer (8585 w. 159th street, tinley park, il 60487, (708)429-3000) to have a diagnostic test performed. The mechanic located the failure code as the air bags supplemental restrain system failed and caused the passenger's side internal detection system to fail. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while parked, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred when driving or parked along with a chime. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor and module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,600.
The airbag light came on in my camaro indicating that there was something wrong with the passenger side airbag. I took it to the jim ellis chevrolet dealership on peachtree industrial blvd in atlanta, ga and they informed me that the seat sensor that determines if the passenger side airbag is on or not had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. The risk i ran was the airbag not deploying in the event of an accident or the airbag deploying at a time that i didn't want it to. My warranty had just expired the year before which means i would have to pay the full price. This fix cost me over $800 and i do not appreciate having to spend this kind of money on a standard feature of a vehicle that is not suppose to malfunction, especially this early in the vehicle's life. It has occurred to me that this has been a recurring problem amongst camaros between 2009 and 2012. I believe i speak for most consumers when i say that we hold general motors at a higher standard than this and that we should not have to deal with these kinds of problems in our vehicles especially within the first 65,000 miles of it's life. I would appreciate it if general motors reimbursed me this $800 since i this is a problem i should not have had to deal with this soon in the vehicles lifetime. I like driving my camaro and i would like to continue to drive it safely without being hindered by major repair costs. Thank you for your consideration.
Preparing to make a left turn at a y shaped junction, the power to the 2010 camaro shut off.driver was unable to steer the car or stop, and the car slammed into a block wall at 30 mph.air bags did not deploy.passenger was unconscious and taken via ambulance to hospital for concussion symptoms.driver suffered injuries to neck and upper back, also requiring medical attention.both were wearing seat belts, both still being treated for injuries sustained.
Service air bag warning.comes on only when passenger in seat.passenger pad sensor faulty.
Air bag light stays on and i'm thinking that the air bags do not deploy when needed. On star sent me an e:mail stating that it needs to be fixed.is it a recall as i do not have money for fixing it as i am putting my granddaughter through college and she uses the car everyday.help!
Passenger airbag warning light illuminates any time someone sits in passenger seat of car.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the service air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to sapaugh chevrolet buick gmc(1435 mcnutt st, herculaneum, mo 63048)where they discovered that the passenger sensor air bag warning light was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that the ignition would fail to start up after multiple attempts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
My airbag service light keeps coming on.when someone sits in the passenger seat, my airbag light keeps going from on to off while someone is sitting in the seat.safety issue is that if i get into an accident, more than likely the airbag will not deploy as expected. Faulty sensor or bad wiring i dont know but i see this issue in alot of camaro forums and online in general.
Air bags warning on dash is indicating a issuewith the air bag. Chevrolet wants over a 1000 dollars to fix. This is a safety issue and needs gm to step up and repair. Potential ingury due to no air bag inflation at crash
Driving down the highway and the airbag sensor came on.it goes on/off at will.it appears after reading other post, that this is a faulty sensor in the seat and the dealers know about it.why hasn't there been a recall?i am not sure if airbag will deploy accidentally or if it won't deploy during an accident.either way, if someone is sitting in the passenger's seat, they are sure the get injured.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.updated 08/30/16*ljupdated 10/26/16.
When driving i keep getting a airbag warning notification on for the passenger side saying there's an issue. And now my driver's seat is stuck all the way forward and won't recline. I can't even drive the vehicle now because the seat won't move back to get behind the wheel. I don't know what to do!
The dash is cracked around passenger airbag doors and i'm concerned with the operation of airbag if in a accident and the muffler is coming apart with only 27000 miles.
Passenger airbag sensor malfunction. Seems like multiple people have had this issue. Should be a safety recall. I had to pay over $800 to repair at dealership.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the driver was traveling over a two mile stretch when the vehicle suddenly and rapidly accelerated without warning. The vehicle accelerated to 110 mph and proceeded to travel through a four-way stop sign. The driver then engaged the emergency brake in an attempt to stop the unintended acceleration and the rear of the vehicle became erratically uncontrollable. The vehicle then traveled over a curb and crashed into the side of a residence. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver was killed in the impact. The vehicle was not inspected for the cause of the failure. A police report was not filed. The failure and the current mileage was 22,000. The vin was not available.
I recently noticed a hairline crack on my dashboard and believed it was due to normal wear and tear. Requested a company to repair crack, but representative unable to repair crack due to location being above the airbag. Upon future investigation i have discovered that other camaro owners have same hairline crack in the exact location on their dashboards. For the crack to occur in the same location on different vehicles leads me to believe there is a defect in the dashboard. The crack is getting progressively worse and i fear that the airbag will deploy unexpectedly due to the airbag compartment becoming compromised.
As i was driving my service airbag light came on. Unfortunately it was a weekend so the dealership was closed. The next morning i started looking up recalls on my car. The result was no recalls on my car but i found hundreds of complaints about the same issue i'm having. I took my concern to the chevy dealer they diagnosed my car with a faulty airbag sensor in the passenger side seat the cost was $800 to replace i immediately called gm directly and expressed my concern. After two day and many phone calls to the man at gm that was handling my case they told me they couldn't help me. This is faulty product that is put in vehicles that we the consumers are driving our families around in. Gm needs to get on the ball , recall these faulty parts before there is a fatality. My passenger side airbag does not work so i am unable to drive my car with a passenger. I am completely disgusted with the service and the product gm produces.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The failure recurred several times. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
A 'service airbag' notification has been turning on sporadically while driving my 2010 camaro (regardless of speed and/or if a passenger is in the car). When i told my local dealership's service department while i was there getting an oil change, the employee told me it would cost $120 for the vehicle diagnostic and that if i get into a car accident my airbag wouldn't deploy. I think it's unfair and irresponsible of them to charge for the diagnostic, from what i've read online, many other individuals have had this problem with the 2010 camaro and gm knows about the defect and that the passenger airbag will not deploy. The fact that this is still not a recall is criminally neglectful and i believe there is currently a class action suit against the company.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag failed to illuminate when the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat occupant mat sensor failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000. Updated 8/10/15the consumer stated the manufacturer offered to assist with less than half of the cost for repairs. The consumer declined the offer stating the manufacturer should pay in full. The manufacturer refused to pay in full due to the vehicle being out of warranty. Updated 10/1/2015
The "service airbag" warning indicator turns on and off randomly.sometimes it stays on for days/ weeks, sometimes it turns of for a few minutes.my vehicle only has about 64k miles on it, and it started happening at about 50k.i have yet had it repaired as i can not afford to pay al;most $1500 to $1900 to repair this. I am aware of a class action against gm for this issue, and i hope the plaintiffs win and the settlement causes gm to have to recall all of the vehicles affected by this to repair the issue at no cost to the owners, regardless of years and milage owned, whether or not they were the original ownerner or not.
Chevrolet camaro 2010, driving on interstate vehicle steering became stiff (felt as if it locked up). Slid off interstate across two lanes off traffic into the crash barrier. $23,000 worth of damage. Total of course.airbags did not deploy, onstar did not activate.

Passenger airbag illuminated when a someone sat in the passenger seat and now stays illuminated whether sitting in the seat or not. Looked into the problem and realized gm has been made aware of the defect that is causing many of consumers the same problem. I have decided to not get it fixed due to the cost of repairing and the fact that gm should be the ones fixing their saftey defects.

Manual driver's seatback went forward on its own & stuck in forward position and trunk popped on its own while stationary. 2010 camaro 2lt hadn't been driven over christmas break.while out strolling, my husband stops to crank the car since it had been sitting for a couple of weeks.he got in, cranked it.no trouble.a week later i went to drive it to work, used remote key to unlock doors and noticed the seatback was stuck close to the steering wheel. I tried latch on seat's back and side lever, but couldn't get the seatback to move.i called to tell my husband i was taking our other vehicle to work and asked if he'd raised the seatback the day he cranked the car for good measure. He didn't recall doing so. Later that evening, we went to look at the car together, used the remote to unlock the doors. He tried moving the seatback and couldn't.he noticed the trunk was popped and asked if i'd popped it.i didn't think so, but maybe i hit the wrong button when unlocking the doors. He slammed the trunk shut. We thought perhaps he forgot to lock the car and someone had rummaged through our car and jammed the seat. A brief online search revealed other camaro owners w/ same issue. The seatback had gone forward on its own. I thought, if seatbacks are moving forward on their own what happens if someone's driving. Unsafe!i visited nhtsa online and saw pictures are helpful. I went home to take a pic. This time the remote didn't unlock the doors, so i used the key. After photos, i noticed that the trunk was popped again.no way i 'hit the wrong button,'the remote wasn't working. I checked trunk and noted the inside lights weren't on.the car's battery had drained from the trunk being open for extended periods of time on two separate occasions. Seatback moving forward on its own and trunk popping on its own'not a coincidence. Both are serious safety concerns.

2010 chevrolet chevy camaro v6, sudden loss of power, complete electrical failure, and engine shutdown while driving 30 mph in subdivision.pulled to side of road.turned car "off" and back on.drove to dealer who said they could find no problem and nothing recorded in car's computer.googled recall of v8 to show dealer, but dealer said this was unrelated.
I purchased my 2010 chevy camaro 2ss, in february of 2012. It had 4,400 miles on it. About a month or two, after i bought it, it completely shut off on me, on a major highway, while doing 65 mph. I threw it into neutral and turned the key and it started right back up. About a month after that, i was doing about 20mph on a back road and it did the same exact thing. Just recently, about 2 weeks ago, i was in 6th gear, on cruise doing 60mph and i felt the car "jerk" or buck" a little bit. Followed immediately by the car decelerating. I down-shifted to 4th gear and was giving it gas, but still wouldn't speed up. It fell down to about 40mph, before finally catching itself and speeding back up. About a mile later, i got off my exit and was coming down to the stop sign, when all the indicator lights came on for about 10 seconds. They went off and i made a left hand turn and went about a mile up the road. At that point, the car completely shut off doing about 35mph. There was heavy traffic, so i pulled over and started it back up. I called the chevy dealership, where i bought it from, and they had no openings for a week. So i took it last week to get it checked and they found nothing that could have caused it, they say. I am very upset, but very thankful that my two children were not with me when it happened. I am currently contemplating trading it in, cuz i am worried that if it happens again, and my children are in the car, that it might shut off in very congested bumper to bumper traffic, on the highway at night, and a tractor trailer is behind me and i can't get it started or someone doesn't see me cuz my lights would be off. The thought of that completely scares me.

Water shorted the app circuits and caused the throttle to activate with out driver input.water is a potential cause for sudden unintended acceleration in vehicles equipped withpotentiometer type app sensor's through extensive research between august 2019 and september 2020, i have determined that a water intrusion problem into the instrument panel (ip) to body harness connector, which carries the app sensor signals to the ecm/pcm has the potential to cause sudden unintended acceleration in many of the 2005-2018 gm product line. Water can enter the connector through body leaks and may cause an increase in voltage on app 1 and app 2. On some vehicles this can also cause a malfunction in the bpp/brake switch status circuit. As a result this malfunction can mistakenly appear as a pedal misapplication in the edr report from the sdm. This finding applies to many other vehicle using a potentiometer type app sensor but the research was done specifically on gm vehicles. I have also determined water intrusion into the connector 109 on the full size truck line has the possibility to cause false activation of the app circuit. Using water i have confirmed that water can cause the voltage increase on app circuit 1 and app circuit 2 and not enter reduced power mode, it all comes down to surface area exposed and sodium content in the water as to the final results. As these vehicles become older the likely hood of these events occurring increases. Vehicles near salt water or where salt is used on the roads are more likely to fail with higher app %. Because of the known water leak into the connector's containing app wires and verification that water can cause false activation of the app circuits. It is my conclusion in rare events this water could cause false activation of both app signal in many of the 2005-2018 gm vehicles. This vehicle was used for confirmation.

Trunk latch just stopped opening trunk.it still make the sound that it always made but it doesn'trelease the lid.the only way to open the trunk is to pull the emergency trunk release inside the trunk as there is no manual key operated release of the trunk from the outside of the trunk.many others have voiced this exact complaint posted online on automobile forums.also replacing the bulbs in the headlightsseems to produce very poor light for night time driving.the replacement bulbs were 4300k hid bulbs 35w just like the original manufacturers equipment, purchased from a very respectable parts supply company.
License plate lights overheated and melted through their respective assemblies. The heat also caused the rear plastic bumper to melt in a small area at one assembly.

I have taken this vehicle in several times for loss of power while driving on the freeway. In addition to the vehicle losing power, reduced speed vehicle dropped from 60 mph to 25mph. The first time the dealership stated the vehicles computer had 5 error messages & just needed to be reset. The second time occurred a couple of months later. I addressed the manufacturer & dealership manager...they said nothing could be done. They reset the computer again, after the 3rd incident almost caused me to have an accident the dealership provided me a rental & thoroughly inspected the vehicle to diagnose the issues. The vehicle was also making a grinding noise between 20-30mph between 2nd & 3rd gear. The vehicle has only been serviced by an authorized gm dealership since i purchased it. This time the service manager said the catalytic converter was the main culprit, however the vehicle was almost entirely void of oil....this was in between the manufacturer recommended oil change interval- apprx had driven in 4700 miles the grinding noise was said to be due to lack of oil but no oil leak was detected. I researched this issue in several auto forums & discovered that the high output 3.6 liter v6 engines had a known problem for burning oil & causing the engine to wear & breakdown prematurely. Dealer advised me that i would need to take the vehicle in every 1000 miles to check how quickly the oil was burning in between oil changes. They confirmed that if indeed it was burning oil they would replace the engine under warranty. I believe this to be very dangerous, loss of power at highway speeds multiple times is very alarming & was not taken seriously by gm customer support - dealership service advisor was more helpful than the manager.
Due to a structural defect of the car , water accumulated and the electrical system failed completely. The dealership identified that there was a structural defect related to the sunroof . The car completely lost all power sincethe electrical system failed . Thereforethere was no power steering , andi was unable to exit the car since all power failed . This was an immediate life threatening danger . The dealership " repaired " the problem after an extensive assessment which included correspondence with general motors . The cost of the repair was $1200 . My concern is that this may be a life threatening safety hazard in other vehicles of the same make and model . I would also like to be reimbursed the full amount of this repair since this was a manufacturer defect .the outcome of this could have been catastrophic . Please advise me on how i would implement the process of reimbursement .
In first three years, the electronic ignition module was replaced three times.on the third time, it was found that the ignition wiring harness was not for a camaro.it was incorrectly installed at the factory.secondly, just three weeks ago, four of my car's six fuel injectors went bad.my car only had 74,000 miles on it.all six injectors were replaced at my cost of $2812.00!outrageous!both times, my car was being driven on a city street.

Engine light comes on and engine stumbles after a heavy rain or engine shuts off during a heavy rain when first starting engine on 2010 v-6 camaro.
Traveling westbound on interstate 80 from reno to san francisco 55-65 mph, without warning my 2010 camaro had 100 % loss of all power and operating functions; out of control down the mountain during heavy traffic i was able to stop the vehicle by jamming into the guardrail, trapping myself in car.nothing worked...no onstar...i called my daughter in reno and told her to send help..i was in shock.i had no clue what happened or why..but after the traffic slowed down i exited the vehicle, still no help or response.car started with limited abilities 25 mph; was advised that it was okay to drive back to reno and "bring it on in" at my convenience. Nothing was done.the car ready before the shuttle got back to the shop. The service men shrugged it off and told me to watch for the warning signs;i can't have any serious problems because they haven't had any electrical problems with these cars across the board??!i had no warning signs..i am lucky that i was not killed and did not kill anybody with my imaginary car problems.2nd incident all systems went crazy, extreme heat coming from dash, no heat turned on,false readings, all warning lights and gauges went off, power locks don't work, no more auto start i requested service with no response for 5 days. I left a very expressive message for fleet manager and service dept finally responded.bad service..rude. I paid over 300 for car rental gm picked up 1 day they concluded again nothing wrong with car.malfunction was caused by snow and cold weather (not acceptable)because it wasn't driven in snow. 3rd time driving with kids on freeway in reno...guess what no power!!was advised once again that i could drive it on in the next business day.well i learned the gm secret.let her sit and she'll reset. I will not be able to live with the consequences of a death caused by a $50000 time bomb. Dream car not worth a life or the fear of what might happen everytime you start it.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving approximately 35 mph, the odor of burning plastic was present. Two days later, the warning indicator for the exterior lighting illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (roger dean chevrolet, 101 sw pine island road, cape coral, fl 33991) for diagnostic testing and repairs. The diagnosis was not provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,977.
The contact owned a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle completely stalled without warning. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the steering wheel seized. As a result, the contact crashed into a pole. The air bags deployed. The contact sustained a left arm injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to culberson autos (805 n hobart st, pampa, tx 79065, (806) 665-1665). The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v346000 (electrical system). The dealer diagnosed that the ignition key switch was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The current and failure mileages were 6,900.
This camaro has been in our family since august 2011, as a daily driver for my wife, purchased from a gm certified used dealer. Leaving the parking lot from a trip to walmart today, not even going 10mph, the vehicle begins to slow down stating "engine power is reduced", with both the check engine light on and the stability trac light on. We were able to limp home under 40mph. Nothing is noticeably wrong, but now the car runs on a rough idle, it's sitting stationary for now. Doing research, i have found this is a common problem with ls3's, mostly having to do with the throttle body itself or accompanying sensors. I'm going to change to throttle body and go from there. My major concern is that why isn't this problem a recall worthy issue. It seems to be a major problem with 2010 camaro's, and many other gm vehicles of the same year with a v8 engine not necessarily the ls3. Why does it take loss of life for gm to fix a major consistent problem. I am really losing faith in this company and it's products. Our 2010 camaro ss should not be the vehicle sitting in our driveway broken down over a 2001 camaro ss and a 2002 s10 truck. What is happening to the quality of gm vehicles these days? if they stand by their product, then they need own up to its shortcomings.
Driving a 2010 chevy camaro, my reduced engine light came on and my vehicle went from 60 mph to 30 instantly on the highway almost causing a major accident.i have read on the forums and this problem is happening to a ton of gm chevy car owners.this could cause somebody to die, and needs to be recalled.the problem is with the throttle body.save lives do something.reduced engine power service stabilitrak ( this was the issue ).
The heater core in the camaro has become faulty. It is leaking coolant onto the passenger floor area and also producing strong fumes within the cabin. It also makes visibility very difficult as the windows fog up and the defroster no longer works properly/
The engine light went on and it was brought in for service. I was told the code p0008 meant that it had a stretched timing chain which would need to be replaced and is a very expensive repair. I recently found out that this is very common in other chevy engines and the power train warrantee was extended to cover these repairs in other engines, but not my camaro. I currently only have 73k miles and would like to see chevy fix the issue as it has been done with the other gm cars.
I have had check engine light on in the vehicle several times, codes p0008 and p0017 timing chain. The vehicle was taken to several chevy dealerships for diagnosis per gm and chevy, both times they stated the timing chain should be replaced. The first time the camaro was still under warranty the carmaro lost power and began to shake, i pulled over put the car in park and noticed a weird idle and shake. I was told after contacting gm and chevy that they are aware of the problem and need has to meet a certain number of complaints before they can include the 2010-14 camaro into the timing chain recall and extended warranty for 10 years and 100,000 miles. As they have for other vehicles with the same timing chain problem. This is not right, my vehicle has being parked for 1 year since this started.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle's speed decreased independently and the engine power reduce and service engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine codes needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled and was restarted however, the failure recurred multiple times as the engine power reduced and service engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel rail pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 24,552. Updated 7/13/15the consumer stated the vehicle had numerous wiring issues. The fuel rail sensor failed twice and the wiring harness sensor casued the engine control module to fail.updated 02/09/16
I have the v6 2010 camaro and like many others that i have researched on the web have the p0008 error code for premature timing chain wear that started at around 80k miles.there has been a recall issued on just about every other car that has this engine in it.it is ridiculous that gm would not issue it on this car as well full on knowing that this would have the same problem.
Obd code p0049 - evap canister purge valve: replaced twice already. Needs to be replaced again at 113,000 miles.odb code p008: timing chain issue. Replace at 48,000 miles. Needs replacement again at 113,000 miles. No signs of malfunction other than check engine light on. Fails to pass massachusetts annual inspection due to obd codes present.
Check engine light came on.car was in motion.took to dealer for diagnosis:need to replace the timing chain on a car with 44000 miles on it. Car usually sits in winter. All maintenance has been performed by the dealer.ordered the car and purchased it to keep it.always hand washed. It is the v-6 engine and i understand that they will only repair this engine on cadillacs & some saturn models.it isthe same engine used in various vehicles.i feelthat this is very premature.i have never had to replace a timing chain.i understand that the gears are plastic and the chain is metal.i do not feel that this should be a cost to me as this is designed to fail.im sure i am not the only one this has happened to.
The check engine light was intermittent.i have onstar. Onstar said it was a camshaft positioning sensor.i waited and the light was still off a long time, but came on and onstar said it was camshaft sensor again and another code p008.i finally went to the dealer and they said it was a bad timing belt and that my warranty was now up.they would not help,i called gm and they denied a problem with the engines.but offered a 20 % discount if i used a chevy dealer. I have seen many articles online about bad timing chains in the v6 engines.i don't think i should pay for a known defect.i bought the car new in 2009.thank you
2010 camaro 3.6l v6 cel p0008 callout stretched timing chain. Common issue with the gm 3.6 l engine. Gm issue a extended warranty for this issue bulletin no. 11340a csc-10043857-8394. Extended warranty 10yrs. Or 120k what ever comes first. Provides owners additional protection for the timing chain. Gmc acadia, saturn outlook 2007-2009,cadillac cts, srx, sts ;2009 model year buick enclave, chevy traverse, what they all have in common is they all use the same part number timing chain as the 2010 camaro. The above mentioned vehicles get the timing chain replaced at no charge but camaro owners have to cover the cost of over $2k. The camaro's need to be added to the gm extended warranty so the timing chainreplacement can be cover. Makes no sense to cover 98% of the cars that use that timing chain part number and not the last 2%. Pn. Engine timing chain kit acdelco gm original equipment 12651450
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the reduce engine power indicator illuminated while driving 60 mph. The failure occurred several times while driving various speeds. The contact stated that the battery was replaced once as a possible cause of the failure. The contact was able to coast the vehicle onto the road shoulder. Once the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing belt was stretched and needed replacement. The contact was also notified by the dealer that the failure was a common occurrence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving approximately 65 mph, the engine power reduced message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle would not exceed 20 mph. The dealer stated that the throttle body induction needed to be cleaned and the induction kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 71,523.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving 30 mph, the service engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to community chevrolet (200 w olive ave, burbank, ca 91502) where it was also diagnosed that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact should speak with nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
The check engine light illuminated. Read the code and it comes up p008. This code is for the timing chain. In doing research on this issue there seems to be numerouscomplaints regarding this problem. Found out that gm has extended the warranty for this engine issue where it is used in other gm vehicles but not for the camaro. I don't understand why the camaro isn't included when it has the same engine as the other gm vehicles. These other vehicle warranties are extended under customer satisfaction program 10287. The cel would come on and then go off over the course of a couple weeks. Finally it just stayed on.
The 2010 camaro with the 3.6l llt model engine has premature timing chain issues. These chains are stretching out and causing performance issues and causing engine failure. My vehicle gave me a decreased engine power warning while i was driving on the highway and decreased my speed dramatically. I had to floor the gas peddle to keep it above 40 mph in a 65 mph speed limit. It was a very dangerous situation. I had the engine light diagnosed and was told it was a worn timing chain and that 2 camshafts were now out of alignment. Gm has recalled almost all other vehicles with the same engine and timing chain for this issue. They have also discontinued use off the chain itself and sell a different model for replacement. But they refuse to recall the 2010 camaro for this issue so the only option is to replace their defective product with the newer one out of pocket.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving 60 mph, the engine seized and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 106,000.
2010 chevrolet camaro v6 premature timing chain replacement. After a diagnostic testing from sandy sansing chevrolet in pensacola, fl, i was notified the the error code p0008 needing replacement of a new timing chain kit.my camaro only had 97,000 miles and i was ocd on my oil changes and maintenance.i filed a case with gm and my case was denied. A simple search online of 2010 chevy camaro timing chain results in an extreme amount of complaints with the 2010 chevy camaro having the worst problems compared toother chevrolet products, with the #1 problem resulting in complaints of the premature timing chain wear.gm vehicles including the buick enclave, chevrolet traverse, gmc acadia, and saturn outlook obtaining the gm 3.6 liter v6 llt engine was issued a bulletin on 02/09/2011 to all gm dealers marked urgent- distribute immediately. Subject premature timing chain wear- program. Gm announces knowledge of faulty timing chains, however refusing to include the 2010 camarov6 3.6 liter llt engine. According to master mechanics search online regarding this engine... Timing chains are designed to operate at twice the max engine oil temp and at 2x the expected engine life. 97,000 miles is not an expected engine life. The mere faxt that these engines started seeing chain failures in some cases under 10,000 miles proves definitively that there was at the very least a quality defect with the timing chains in these engines . Gm refused to acknowledge or accept responsibility of their defect pushing the cost of myself and other consumers. I have also filed a case with this information to my attorney general office. Gm ignored several requests for documentation that they are denying responsibility for my timing chain issues. Gm needs to reimburse customers who had to pay for this defect in their lack to respond to customers complaints.
P0008 timing chain code coming up for v6 engine (2lt model) at 70k miles.reading several forums and researching that this is a known issue on other gms with the same part.while they granted 10 year/120k warranty for other models, the camaro is left out.cost is anywhere from $1800-$3000.not sure why camaros are not being included within the recall when we have to same parts and issues.please assist!!!
The dash is cracked around passenger airbag doors and i'm concerned with the operation of airbag if in a accident and the muffler is coming apart with only 27000 miles.
The vehicle displayed a trouble code on the dash. I took it in to get a reading for the code and it appears to be a p0008 error code. After searching, it seems this code is relating to the timing chains within the engine becoming stretched. It also seems that a lot of owners are seeing this error with their own vehicles and dealer is charging anywhere from 2 to 3k to get the issue resolved. To quote another complaint that i saw regarding the same issue:" when is gm going to address the problem of the timing chains on the camaro as it has the other models that have the same problem. It is ridiculous for gm to expect the buyer to come out of pocket for a problem that is a known manufacturer problem and not caused due to anything done by the buyer. "
While driving my 2010 chevy camaro ss on the interstate home from work all of a sudden i lost power all my interior lights and dashboard warning lights started to flash on and off car would surge then lose power than surge lose power steering was very difficult had no brakes merged over to the shoulder to try to get into a safe position and was calling nine-one-one when i noticed smoke coming out of the left front compartment of the camaro under the hood and then the smoke turn to a rust burnt looking color and then noticed that the hood was starting to banned from the heat underneath it and at this time i tried to get out of the vehicle but the electrical system was burnt and had to use a pair of pliers to open up the door lock because my interior door locks would not function got out of the car called nine-one-one and within 5 minutes there was flames coming up from underneath the hood the hood kind of popped open and flames took over the whole front of the car and the engine compartment fire truck of course got the fire out but the car was a total loss
Tamara recall.the air bag light is on check engine light is on theac is on and off.
One evening i got in my car and turned the heater on. Immediately, my windshield fogged up and the air coming out of the vents had a very strong odor, which smelt like coolant. For the entire drive (20 min) i could not get the windshield to defog. The next day, i drove my car and it was running extremely hot (about 220-250f). When i parked, i noticed that my car was leaking coolant. I tried to locate the source of the leak, but it was leaking from the middle of the car- about where the radio is. Not being able to locate the leak, i filled up the radiator with water to get me home without over heating. When i got home i found a large puddle of coolant where my car was parked overnight. After doing some research, i found many other camaro owners who had foggy windshields, coolant smell in hvac system, and leaking coolant. They said these were the signs that the heater core "went out." i then went to look near my heater core, and sure enough, i had coolant on my passengers floor board and found drips of coolant below the heater core. Many of the camaro owners have shared their experience with having this problem repaired and it sounds like the front seats, windshield, and dash have to be removed to replace the heater core. This is on average about a $2000 repair at a dealership. With how many cases there seems to be just from a quick search online, this should be issued a recall! this is also a safety concern- hot coolant could have dripped on my passenger's feet and burnt them.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the engine light was constantly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 89,000.
Timing chain.took car to dealership to diagnose check engine light.revealed code p0008 which was later found to be an issue with a stretched timing chain.vehicle had just over 50,000 miles and even the dealer admitted it should not have had this issue.after research, discovered that the same engine used in the 2010 llt camaro was used in other gm vehicles---but those vehicles had power train warranties extended to 10 year/120,000 miles to help cover this potential issue.this was not done for the camaro, so i was forced to pay nearly $1400 to repair my car since the warranty had expired.why was the warranty not extended on the camaro which uses the same engine as those other gm vehicles??
My light engine came on at around 100,000 miles, so i figured it was because i needed to have my 100,000 mile maintenance work done, which was a regular tune up, which included, change of spark plugs, and change of engine oil, transmission and differential oil change, which i did by taking it to the dealer i purchased the car from new in 2010.when i took the car in it was working fine with no problems and was running very smooth but after they completed the work and 560.00 dollars later the care came out with very bad idling and missing a lot and losing power!i took the car back and they told me it was because the timing chain was bad and needed to be replaced!i don't agree with their diagnostic and feel they are doing something wrong and are trying to cover it up, so i started to research the matter to find out that there are a lot of other camaro owners having the same issue!someone needs to do something about this matter i don't think an engine's chain should go bad at 100,000 miles!the dealer wants me to pay 1600.00 to have it replaced, which i think its outrageous considering there are a lot of problems that have been reported on the same issue!i believe it is dangerous driving a vehicle with a faulty timing chain for it loses power when you are trying to accelerate when crossing intersections or switching lanes!!!
The water pump on my 2010 chevrolet camaro rs failed while driving .vehicle only has 38,300 miles on it.since 1962, i have owned 20 gm vehicles, but never had a 'water pump' failure on any except this car. I did notice many other chevrolet cars (impalas) with same 3.6 v6 engine hah had water pump failures.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving at 30 mph, the engine warning light would illuminate on and off. The contact stated that the failure occurred in january of 2015. Thevehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The dealer diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vin was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 119,433. Updated 09/10/15*ljupdated 11/02/2017
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While attempting to start the vehicle, the engine immobilizer indicator illuminated and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,188.
Engine code p008, timing chain replacement required at 75,000 mile, approximately a $2000 replacement cost, many other vehicles with the exact same engine has had recalls for this problem, check engine does not allow this vehicle to pass california smog, registration of the vehicle cannot be completed, local dealers not helpful, engine could seize if the timing chain assembly fails cause accidents resulting in injury or death.
After putting gas in my car 1 mile down the road my engine started to knock i took it to the mechanic he said engine was bad i called gm for help i was under the hundred thousand mile warranty but the year of my car was out of warranty by 8 year gm told me take it to a dealer and they would pay to have it looked at their dealers said it needs a timing chain i had timing chain replaced once already on it at 51000 miles and now at 96,000 miles it went again i made appointment for following week to get it fixed they told me i could drive it but too baby it the day before i was supposed to get it fixed the engine locked up on me and was stranded with no cell service with my daughter not to mention it was snowing out after looking into it i found out these engines are known for burning oil like a couple quarts or 3 between oil changes these engines are in the cadillac cts and a bunch others and are known for weak timing chain gm extended the warranty on those tires for 120000 miles 10 years but they refused to do that for the camaro which has the same engine if they did not tell people to change oil at 15000 miles or 10000 miles this problem would never happen also there is no oil low oil light so when you go by what your car tells you to you will lose your timing chain this is gm's fault they have you go too far in between to change your oil and these engines burn oil bad and gm has known for years if you go on camaro forums that's all you hear about with the 2010 camaros and cadillac cts and acadia rayburn oil bad after von holzen ashland wisconsin told me gm would not help they offered me $1,000 for a new car that is a slap in the face how disrespectful can you be it seems like gm only wanted to get me in the doors of their dealerships so i would buy a new car because they knew my car was already out of warranty so i offer to hv it looked at if you're not going to help.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While accelerating at low speeds, the vehicle barely accelerated and the check engine light illuminated. When i go to put gas in my car when i go to start it . It doesn't wanna start the car will turn over and sputter and won't start you turn it off and it will still be sputtering on it's on with the ignition off than after min it stops than u go to crank it again does same but you haft to put the peddle to floor to get it to level out you can't pump gas running it makes a wired noise fromthe the gas tank ... It is at gas stations when this happens and sometimes on highway will sputter ...even sitting a red lights ...driving
Engine check light came on and i took the car to pine belt chevy in lakewood, nj. Engine code p0008& p0017 for camshaft position correlation on 3.6 v6 engine. Vehicle diagnosed as needing timing chains. Car only has 52,721 miles on it.estimated cost to repair $3,000. Research indicates that gm has a recall on many different makes and models for timing chain failure with the 3.6 v 6 engine with the same timing chain part numbers. Gm has extended the warranty to 10 years and 120,000 miles on the affected makes and models on all vehicles except the camaro. Gm bulliten 10287. Gm needs to step up and include the camaro to its timing chain recall.
This car is only driven in the summer months. On occasion i take it out when the weather is nice and there isn't any snow just to wash it and run it because it stays parked in the winter. While i was out,the check engine light came on so i took it to the dealership to find out it needs a timing chain already and it will cost between 800.00-1,000.00 to fix. Of course it's not covered under the 5 year/ 100,000 mile warranty because i purchased it brand new in 2009 which is over the 5 years but still under the mileage.i did my research on it and this is a wide spread well known problem with the timing belt on these engines but gm has done nothing to fix the problem and the consumers are dishing out more money. This is something gm needs to address!
I was driving home one day and the car no longer wanted to go so i slowly and carefully rolled down a hill and went into the parking lot the car no longer wanted to start i thought it was the battery or the alternator so i changed both i even checked my oil to make sure i was good on that end i ended up getting the car towed back to the house the mechanic checked it out and no codes were popping up the car was stationary and ran but i tried to go down the street and it just stopped then the area around made some strange noises and the mechanic said it might be the engine i then took it the shop and i was told it's the engine i just didnt not know what theissue was it's a 2010 camaro 6 cylinder with a 3.6 llt engine and many people have had issues with it but i don't know if chevy ever did anything about it it was on a city street when it stopped its just been sitting since it went bad and the 2012 and up models engine cost around $1700 but the 2010's engine costs over $3000 many people state that it's more expensive because of how many peoples engines have gone bad and it's usually around 100k miles it's was always serviced and when it would stop the steering wheel would lock up and would not want to start
Vehicle overheating resulting in shutdown - i've taken the vehicle into 2 gm dealerships who first replaced the water pump and flushed the system after the vehicle stranded me in the middle of a highway intersection. When i came to a stop i heard the fans startup and the temperature rose to 250f+ in about 30 seconds and initiated an engine shutoff procedure, which cuts off all power to the car. At that point i was dead in an intersection of a very busy highway. This happens without warning and does not initiate a event to the car's computer. The gm dealer said they consider an overheating event a notice and not a warning event so it is not recorded on the cars computer even though it causes the car to be shutdown. This has occurred 2 times in the 6 months and i have replaced the water pump, radiator pressure cap, flushed the system all on advice from the gm dealer to correct for this problem without success. The second time this occurred was driving on a highway and the vehicle lost power as i got to a border checkpoint resulting in me being stranded on the highway for an 1.5 hours waiting for a tow truck. I had the car towed to a another gm dealer who told me there is nothing wrong with the car. They don't seen to know what is causing the issue as they are unable to replicate the issue when i bring the car into them and there is no event for them to track.
Having the error code p0008 show up on my camaro 2010 at 100,000 miles seams to be a stretched timing chain. Loss of power high gas.
Earlier in 2018, the car was intermittentlythrowing a p008 code and check engine light with no noticeable difference in the mileage or running. It would come on, then go off for weeks. Oil was changed every 3-5000 miles. Now the light is on and will not go off, showing only the same code of p008. I can not pass yearly state emission inspections with the check engine light on. The local gm shop indicated that the code means that i need a new timing chain.i have the 3.6 liter motor with 92000 miles. For other gm models with this issue and the 3.6 l motor, gm extended their warrantyand covered the cost of replacing the timing belt, but they excluded the camaro. I have received estimated costs of 1200 to 2100 to replace the timing chain. This cost is more money than i have, but i may not have a choice. I do not want to be on the road whenthe timing chain breaks and i am in the middle of interstate traffic.
Engine light illuminated with p0008 obd-ii trouble code: engine positions system performance bank 1.twice was told by dealership it was an oil issue even though no oil change alerts came on and check engine light kept coming back after service (occasionally intermittent).mpg was negativelyimpacted during regular operation and occasional rough idling at stoplights.at 77,000 miles (and just past the 7 years covered by extended warranty), was finally told this was a timing chain issue and $1,700 to fix (of course not covered).research on stretched timing chain from p0008 error for camaros indicated many others with issue and extended warranty up to 10 years/120,000 miles issued by gm for other vehicle models using same engine.bulletin/warranty should be extended to affected 2010 camaros.
P008 code. Timing chain issues. If this fails and the engine seizes while driving, all of us camaro owners could be in accidents. Death could even occured. I bought my 2010 camaro february of 2016. I'm am the 2nd owner and only put 66k miles on the engine. 85% to and from work. I've replaced everything possible to get rid of the p008 code but it's still there. You have recalled other vehicles with this issue why not us camaro owners? please help is!
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While the contact was driving on a major highway, there was a drastic reduction in speed without warning. The vehicle was taken to deacon jones chevrolet (1115a n brightleaf blvd, smithfield, nc 27577, (919) 934-8101) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced and the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact was uncertain if the failure was related to the manufacturer service campaign: 12-06-01-009e apr 14 (engine - timing chain kits and chain guide replacement). The vehicle was not repaired and was parked at the contac'ts residence due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Check engine light code p0008 & p0017. Dealer diagnosed needs timing chains on 3.6 v6. Milage 52,724 cost approx $3,000. Not covered under warranty. Other gm models with 3.6 v6 engines covered 10 years 120,000 miles under customer satisfaction program 10287. Camaro not included. Needs to be included in recall.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated every time the vehicle was started. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain was stretched and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,750.....updated 04/25/16
I took my car into a chevrolet dealership immediately after i noticed my engine started to make noises. A couple of hours later, i got a call from the dealership and they told me there was engine damage. The service employee asked me why i waited so long to change the oil in the car. I told him that i waited for the car oil life system (ols) to alert me to change the oil, and that it doesn't alert me until 8,000 to 10,000 miles. He told me that i shouldn't wait that long, and he recommended to change the oil after 4,000 to 5,000 miles. I told him that gm needs to fix the (ols) to alert consumers sooner to change the oil.after i got off the phone, i did a google search and learned that there was a recall on the 2010-2012 chevrolet equinox with a four-cylinder engine, and it will get its (ols) monitor recalibrated to shorten the interval between oil changes. So i think gm need to expand the recall to cover all models that have this problem. The dealership never recalibrated my (ols) system, and told me to just bring it in sooner for oil changes.
I have 2010 rs v.6 camaro , withproblem p0008 bank 1 engine,needs timing chain,miles 58778 on 8-2-16 .i seen many complaints of same issue. Engine light was on,pulled code.p0008
P0008 & p0017 engine code on 3.6 v 6 diagnosed by dealer to be stretched timing chains. 52,724 miles cost to fix $3000. Other gm vehicles with the same engine extended warranty of 10 years 120,000 miles. Camaro needs to be included in recall.
My cars "engine light" came on around 120,000 miles so i took into the dealership and it read a code of p0008 engine timing. They told me that it was due to dirty oil. I bought the car used a little over a year ago with close to 80,000 miles on it and i keep the oil changed between every 3000 to 4000 miles. I've asked around to a few other shops their opinion and they tell me the same thing. The price im getting quoted counting parts and labor is close to $1300 and i cant afford that kind of bill. It appears that if others are having this same issue then a recall should be broadcast out and be covered under warranty? i'm a die hard bow tie guy and all i've ever owned was a gm cars and trucks. I currently have my 2010 camaro a 2003 chevy truck with only 121000 miles and a 1971 chevy truck that im restoring. Is there anyway that yall could do something about this issue everyone is starting to have with these? i know for a fact that enterprise chevrolet had a camaro in this week with the exact same issue as well as a few others i've talked to.
It appears the heater core is leaking after almost 109,000 miles.replaced the heater hose due to leak approximately a month ago.coolant smell inside the car.damp/smell of coolant on the passenger side.seems many 5th generation camaro owners have reported the same issue.no recall on this issue that i can find?
Had new timing chain added with oil changeengine locked up.insurance won't, help.place i bought the car won't help
Reduced engine power message
My 2010 chevy camaro 2lt in 37,000 miles the front right brake caliper got stuck and ate up my rotor and pad. In 40,000 miles it broke a valve spring. Ever since they say they fixed it, it still runs like crap loss of power, and still misses but dealer says its fine and from day one everytime i go over a bump at any speed it sounds like glass is shattering and it comes from the front suspension. Its sad that my 1995 chevy pickup with over 300,000 miles with all stock parts still runs better than my camaro.
I took my car in and had it diagnosed due to my car running louder than normal and problems with the idling of the car. The dealership told me i needed new timing chains and it would be anywhere from 2-3 thousand dollars. I've been researching and see than a lot of people has had problems with the timing chains on this particular vehicle. I have also found that gm has issued an extended warranty up to 10 years or 120,000 miles for other cars made around the same time as my vehicle for timing chains. When is gm going to address the problem of the timing chains on the camaro as it has the other models that have the same problem. It is ridiculous for gm to expect the buyer to come out of pocket for a problem that is a known manufacturer problem and not caused due to anything done by the buyer.
I have the 2010 camaro v6, with only 67,700 miles. Like too many others, the check engine light came on and it gave a p0008 error code for premature timing chain wear. Why hasn't gm issued a recall for the camaro with this engine when they've issued a recall for nearly all other vehicles with this engine?!? i should not be facing an estimate of over $2,000 to replace the timing chain with only 67,200 miles!
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph and making a turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who performed a diagnostic and replaced a component to correct the failure. The contact was unable to determine the exact component however, the failure recurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to dealer however, no failure was determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and an incident recorder was installed on the vehicle to determine any future failures. The failure mileage was 23,000. The current mileage was 24,000.
The timing chain stretched and is failing.dealer admits this is a known issue and that other model cars with same engine have been recalled for replacements.although it's a know issue dealer is charging $2000 for the replacement of the timing chain with the one chevrolet switch to in the next model year camaro as they were aware of the issue.
Engine light is on, several codes, three of which have a technical service bulletin. Codes are p0007, p0008, p0017. Technical service bulletin number is 374076. Vehicle has loss of power. Do not want to drive for fear of throwing off the timing since all of these involves positioning sensors for the camshaft and crank shaft.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving, the interior lights in the vehicle flickered. In addition, the front headlamps also flickered. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated while driving which caused the vehicle to drive rough. The vehicle was taken to simpson chevrolet located at 10150 trask ave, garden grove, ca 92843, and the ecu was reset however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.*dt*dt
We where driving looking at a local subdivision and we were doing 35 miles a hour when we hit a deer all air bags came out and i broke my wrist and my friend hurt his arm as well i was in the passenger side with my set belt on and when we hit the deer the air bag came out full force that i broke my wind shield as well
In first three years, the electronic ignition module was replaced three times.on the third time, it was found that the ignition wiring harness was not for a camaro.it was incorrectly installed at the factory.secondly, just three weeks ago, four of my car's six fuel injectors went bad.my car only had 74,000 miles on it.all six injectors were replaced at my cost of $2812.00!outrageous!both times, my car was being driven on a city street.
All factory maintenance was completed at a factory service provider, on or before recommended time/mileage. At 58k+/- milesdriving at approximately 35mph engine suffered catastrophic failure due to timing chain failure, causing engine to seize, car lost all power steering, power brakes while entering a turn resulting in nearly running over pedestrians otherwise walking safely on the side of the street. Gm has recalled other vehicles with same engine but not the v6 camaro for a timing chain failure.
The gm 6.2l ls engine has a serious defect with the valve train that causes the engine to drop valves into the cylinder, and lock up the engine while driving. The fuel management system that makes the engine operate on less cylinders while at cruising speeds, causes the lifters to stick. This results in excessive clearance between the valve and rocker arm, and the beating action knocks the keepers out. When this happens, the valve drops into the cylinder, and the engine locks up. This primarily happens while driving at highway speeds, which results in loss of steering, loss of brakes, and in cases like mine with a manual transmission, when the engine locks up, the rear wheels also lock up, and the vehicle slides out of control. This happened, it was raining, on a straight stretch of divided 4 lane, at 55mph, which caused the vehicle to slide off the road, and only because it was on a saturday morning and there was very limited traffic, we were not injured or killed. I special ordered this vehicle from gm, it was serviced only at the dealership it was purchased, and was treated with extreme care from day one. Being that the warranty had expired, the dealership made an estimate that it will take $8,200 to replace the engine, and it only had 51,000 miles at the time. After this happened to mine, i have found that this situation is a very common occurrence with the 6.2l ls engines. Gm has done nothing but turn their backs to millions of customers who are driving a vehicle that can lose steering, brakes, and control of the vehicle, at anytime while driving at speeds of 60+mph. This is a major safety issue to not just the people driving these vehicles, but anyone who is driving near one of these vehicles when this occurs. Gm needs to be accountable for the safety of their customers, and the general public.
The timing chain needed to be replaced at only 100,000 miles. Garage stated that it was so bad that engine could have failed and ignited a flame in the engine.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact was driving 5 mphwhen the vehicle became hesitant to acceleration and smoke was released from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the dealer diagnosed the failure as a blown piston. The vehicle was repaired with a new motor. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.
I noticed coolant leaking into passenger floorboard.the car was taken into the dealership and it was diagnosed with a leaking heater core.i started doing some research and found that several other camaro owners have had this same issue, and during my research found a gm technical service bulletin for this heater core failure. (# pip-5457a) the dealership is wanting to charge for the new heater core, a windshield and labor.
2010 camaro shutters when i think about !@#$% at gm wasting government money to bash toyota in tv and print ads.
My husband and i was out and waiting to pull into a parking space and the car just shut down, without any warning and after the fact that it shut down it gave a message of"reduced engine power". He continuously tried to start the car back up with no luck. We contacted onstar who stated that the car needed to be on for them to give a diagnostics. We waited for about an hour and the car started back up but the engine light was on. The following monday my husband took the car to the dealer and they stated they did this and that. Keep in mind the car is rarely driven, and two days after we received the car back it shut down again. Back to the shop it went, again they told us different things were done to the car. To keep a long story short the car has been to the shop 4 times with the same problem. The last time we were on the interstate moving with traffic and it shut down again. I found this to be very disturbing because if a 18-wheeler or another car was close enough to knock the car off the interstate, i probably wouldn't be making this complaint. I have never seen in my life a car that gives no warning until it is off and while you are driving in the midst of traffic. The car is a nice car on the outside but under the hood it is horrible. As i type this complaint the car is in the shop again with different excuses. I hope they can get to the bottom of the problem because i would really hate for there to be any more fatalities reported especially mine or one of my family members. I just want the problem to be corrected and not anymore running around about the problem. I am on my last leg of having any faith in gm.
I have what i believe a heater core going bad. With the heat on i have a very strong maple syrup smell and my windshield fogs up really bad when it is cold out. I only have 30k miles on my camaro and rarely use the heat. It is obviously leaking. It us a dangerous situation where many people are complaining about this problem. It can get difficult to see when your entire windshield fogs up, also breathing in the antifreeze fumes.
The ac compressor in vehicle keeps going out. Its been replaced 3 times since october 2014. It does not cool vehicle, mechanics have checked for leaks and other issues that may be causing it to go out but it just seems to be a bad oem part. After each fix the ac works for about a month or less before going out again. Now the company is refusing to send a replacement or an upgraded part for a fix that is under warranty still and with summer in the south coming and no ac this can be a problem even with windows down. The mechanic found a technical bulletin for this issue of the company knowing this was an back in 2011 yet i received no bulletin prior to 2014 or assistance getting this fixed. I made calls to the warranty department and because i was just over the 80,000 miles for this part but under 100,000 miles bumper to bumper they refused to acknowledge the problem and no assistance without paying an additional fee to diagnose and replace at over $1000 after i already forked out $400 originally.
While driving vehicle first shut off at a red light for no reason on feb 28 2012 same incident on march 1st shut off a red light third time it was while driving 10 mph making a turn in a parking spot. Was able to turn back car on with no problems but it is of great concern now if this should happen at a high speed i am sure car can cause injuries to others as well as myself.
Strange smell coming from ac for a while.2 weeks ago ac stopped working completely.took it to mechanic told me it was the evaporator core.he replaced it and it was very expensive and tedious job.read some forum and other were complaining about the same smell and eventually the same problem.a car with only 60,000 miles should not have this problem.
The 2010 camaro ss automatic is equipped with the fuel management system which deactivates the valves on four cylinders at low speeds.upon accelerating the four cylinders are re-activated and a surge of approximately 200 hundred horsepower is sent to the real wheels which causes a traction loss and loss of control on icy or snow covered roadways.this is a hazard which can create a seriousaccident due to the rear wheels losing traction and slipping. Thedealer has checked my vehicle and stated that gm considers this normal and not a problem.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle started producing toxins which started coming into the vehicle. He also stated that due to those toxins, he became sick and was taken to the hospital as a result of an existing heart condition. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,975 and current mileage is 5,000.
Vehicle's headlights over the past year have become unacceptably dim. Hid system reflector housing damaged by heat from bulb, causing insufficient level of light being reflected out in front of vehicle.
Reflecting bowl in headlight deteriorated and i cannot see the road at night
Hid headlights do not light up the road properly at night causing dangerous driving.
The hid headlamps on the 2010 camero ss are not providing enough light to illuminate the road which is a safety hazard when driving at night. Gm will not cover the cost of replacing the entire light assembly on this model and year car.upon further inspection of the assembly, reflector bowl was observed to be damaged by extreme heat caused by the factory bulbs this heat caused cracking and damage to the reflective coating making the lights very dim. The lenses are clear and it is obvious that it is poor assembly that gm should warranty for a car that is 8 years old.they refuse to replace the bad factory light assembly.
The hid headlamps on the 2010 camero ss are not providing enough light to illuminate the road which is a safety hazard when driving at night.
Hid light output is very poor. Purchased car usedin april of 2015 lighting was very good, now 3 years later the forward lighting is very poor.
On 2010 model ss/rs with high intensity discharge headlamps (regular production option code t4f; i believe the code is), the visibility of the headlamps is severely diminished after the first couple of years due to heat from the required zenon bulb. Heat from the bulb, causes the plastic reflective dish at the rear of the light assembly to warp and crack the mirror reflective finish causing diminished throw (distance) from the headlights. With the severely diminished visibility from the headlights, a driver (me) cannot see much further than 30 feet or so in front of the car at night. If rain is present at night, a driver (me) cannot see the road at all except for the center line street markings and sometimes the road shoulder or curb just near the front end of the car. This makes it impossible to drive the vehicle at night and especially in raining conditions. I have changed the bulbs twice using the same manufacturer bulbs before identifying this defect in manufacturing with no change in result. This a huge safety issue for all 2010 and up models with high intensity discharge headlamps with severely diminished visibility putting drivers at harms risk and other drivers around vehicles with the same defect. Making it difficult if not impossible to see lines in the road adequately, pedestrians, construction markers and roadway shoulders and curbs and could lead to accidents that could've been prevented. There has been no tsb or response from chevrolet that i could find regarding remedy to this issue and it needs to be researched and looked at. It has taken me this long to figure out what the problem is after researching with other owners having the same issue. With the difficulty to diagnose that the headlight assembly is the problem, other unsuspecting owners continue to drive their cars each day with this severe safety issue. Issue is inside the light assembly.

The hid headlamps on the 2010 camaro ss/rs were not providing enough usable light to illuminate road causing a safety issue when driving at night. Condition was unbearable as driver could not see enough light on the road in just this car. Upon removal and inspection of headlamp assembly, reflector bowl was observed to be damaged by heat with cracks and reflective coating missing in certain areas. All lenses were clear and intact, with just the reflector bowl being damaged.
The headlights have become progressively dimmer over time. Replacing the bulbs and the ballast does not remedy the issue. What happens is the reflector inside the projector starts to fail which directly affects the light output. The only fix for this is completely new headlight housings.whichare almost $2,000 just for the assemblies. As of now it is literally impossible to drive my vehicle at night safely.

I'm forced to use mycar at any time of the day including nightand i have been very close to having an accidentmultiple times due to poor visibility, my understanding is that there has not been fatalities reported related to this issue yetbut it s a matter of timeand we shouldn't wait until there are fatalities or injuries before this issue is addressed and a recall is issued by chevy. The headlight assembly is the problem and there are other unsuspecting owners that continue to drive their cars each day with this severe safety issue.thank you

I was driving down the road in my car lost all power causing me to strike a pole general motors is already determined that the recall was from the accident but the police report said i was swerving all over the road they gave me a ticket for failure to control speed but when they pulled the black box in the vehicle it said that i was going 43 and a 45 can somebody please help me with this matter my understanding is that the recall laws are to refer refund repair or replace
I was going for a drive in my neighborhood. I was driving down a hill when the accelerator stuck. At the bottom of the hill was a bump in the road. After hitting the bump the engine turned off. I had no brakes and no steering. I then skid off the road into a tree. There was one injury, a lady in the back seat passenger side hit her head on the back of the front seat passenger. She had a huge goose egg on top of her head and a black eye.
Both door strike plates exhibiting corrosion.part was plated first then bent into shape.manufacturing process should be reversed.part should be bent into shape then plated.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While shifting into second gear, the contact heard a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle lost power and stalled. Upon inspection, it was determined that three bolts that attached the driveshaft to the differential had sheared off, which caused the driveshaft to detach. During the incident, the heat shield and fuel tank were also severely damaged. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 13,500.
Tried to shift gear to first but the gear wouldn't engage. Clutch pedal was stuck to the floor and not releasing. Towed car to dealership and after inspection i was informed that the clutch was worn and the pressure plate and flywheel had to be replaced. Final cost $1965.77.not covered under warranty. 10/15/11 the same problem has occurred less than thirty days after repairs. Drove car 200 yards and clutch pedal was stuck once again, gear wont engage. Discovered fluid leakage. Taking car back to dealership hoping to get a refund.
On october 8th the vehicle was parked while running ( south texas heat i wanted to cool the car off ).the vehicle is equipped with the 6spd manual transmission therefore the vehicle was in neutral, the hand brake was engaged. As i walked away from the vehicle which was parked in my driveway i heard a loud popping noise.it was loud enough to cause alarm, when i looked back at my vehicle it was rolling out of my driveway & into the street. I was able to jump in & apply the brake before it caused any damage. I immediately called my local dealership to have the vehicle inspected & repaired, i explained to the lady who assisted me what the issue was, she wanted me to take the vehicle in on 4 days after the incident. I found this to be unacceptable. Since this was a huge safety issue i was not willing to wait that long to have it repaired. I took it in on the 9th & was told on the 10th that the cable to my hand/parking brake had indeed failed & busted. I was also told that this would not be covered by gm. I asked how this could have happened on a 4yr old car that is usually parked on flat surfaces & in gear with the handbrake engaged as the owners manual suggest. I was not given an answer, i have reported the incident to gm's & am waiting for a response. My vehicle was repaired under my extended warranty.
My car is reaching 50k miles i bought it used and had it for the past years and have been running into a problem recently which happens to be the transmission like today that the car is grinding when shifting into 2 gear and has done it in the past and got stuck once in traffic luckly no accident but like today i went in a trip and grinded like 5timesbut happy to have not ran into any accidents.so i'm here doing this because i did quitesome research and i know a lot of owners of this car have run into this problem and really can cost a life.main reason i'm doing this is because i just want to fix this problem but chevy doesn't have anything to fix it or an answer.which they have to be pushed into helping us fix this problem which can cause life issues perhaps for someone.once again this appears to be a manual transmission issue that have hasn't fixed according to myself and a quite of few people.i'm willing to take any advice on how to fix my issue .thanks
While driving to the dealership in brookdale, mn. On freeway approx 70mph when car completely goes dead.quickly i put it in neutral and turned it back on and complained to dealer. Driving in st cloud,mn at intown speeds when the car shuts down again.then it also shut down twice on me in brainerd, mn at a speed of 50mph whiledriving normal.then on 3 may 2010 i was going around a curve with 2 friends when it again shut down at approximately 60 mph. This time while on the curve i went into the ditch and hit a mail box. Thus causing damage to the right front of the car.the car was towed and is presently at the dealership in brainerd, mn.this car is to dangerous to drive; will i have a headon collision while trying to pass another car?
My car will not downshift into 2nd gear from any speed. My car will also not up-shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear at high rpm's.
At 3900 miles, the right rear halfshaft drive axle failed on 11/04/10.at 6907 miles, the car suffered another catastrophic powertrain failure.the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined. The known damage included, driveshaft, transmission, transmission shifter, and exhaust. The failure occurred during 5pm rush hour traffic at @ 35mph, with a grinding noise, and vibration as the only indicators that a failure was imminent. The failure occurred with traffic surrounding the vehicle at a relatively slow speed. Had the same failure occurred at 55mph, or interstate speeds in excess of 55mph, the outcome could have involved fatalities.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While accelerating at low speeds, the vehicle barely accelerated and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the metal timing chain damaged the plastic timing gears. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 76,000. Updated 09/27/16*ljupdated 10/05/16.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph and shifting from second to third gear, the clutch became stuck. The contact was able to release the clutch but the clutch would not function and caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
Car will not go into first or reverse. Shifts fine in other gears and when car turned off. Took to dealer who said clutch was worn at 50,000 miles because i was too hard on it? i don't race, hot rod etc, that's why i bought a v6 manual for durability. Am only owner only driver. This is not my first manual transmission vehicle and to have a clutch go bad at 50,000 miles is pre-mature and unacceptable and costing $1700.00gm is theonly ones making clutch so i was forced to go to dealer and pay for repairs for a factory issue that caused early clutch burn out and false "ok" diagnostic on transmission. Turns out alot of other owners are having the same problem and its costing us $$$. Any mechanic driving this car said "this is a transmission issue, not a clutch". A car not going into gear is not the clutch. There was no grinding of gears, it just wouldn't go despite force and clutch pushed all the way in numerous times.
Well when i shift from 1st to 2nd gear it won't go into 2nd and seems to lock out of all gears. Have to stop complete and retry to take off. Please help
Vehicle will intermittently, not go into second gear, and has almost caused me to be rear endedabout 4 times now. Vehicle is a standard v6 and has intermittent gear clash going into gears. Wife will not even drive vehicle now cause of this. I had sent an e-mail to you on this already, but want to make sure you got it as i have three other friends that traded in their v6 manual transmission camaro cause of this.all because gm, fails to address the issue they already know of issues from us v6 camaro owners complaining. My two dealers have been great, but only so much they can do unless gm addresses this issue.if gm, fails to address, their issue with this transmission,i will see a lawyer about this and go after them, it hasbecome a big safety issue now in traffic. P.s. Vehicle has what gm call transmission a ay6 transmission, that they put in the v6 camaro with manual transmission
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. While driving various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently shifted into first gear. Also, the service stability trac and engine power reduced warning indicators illuminated. The dealer (vandergriff chevrolet, 1200 w interstate 20, arlington, tx 76017, (682) 323-2486) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
Original oem clutch failure due to bad design, no replacement part available from gm.failure of clutch at high speeds could cause damage and possible death to driver and other surrounding vehicles.
2010 v6 camaro 6-speed manual trans grinds when shifting into 2nd gear while merging into highway traffic at higher rpms.thought it was driver error until researching the problem.turns out many people are having the same issue and it is said to be that the stock brass synchros in the manual transmissions are at fault.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle failed to shift into third or forth gear. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000.
2010 camaro rs, v6 manual transmission:passed a car and tried to shift down but the clutch would not shift the car down to 5th.tried clutch again and all it would do was move around and never catch.same with the stick shift.it would not go into any speed.it was like the clutch, would move around from 1st - 6th like this was a toy i was trying to shift.also, i could not brake the car with the regular brake or emergency brake.while this was going on my car was increasing in speed and the motor revved to the point i thought was going to explode.the only way i could stop it was to turn the car off.when i did this l lost steering and headlights.coasted to a stop finally.had onstar run a diagnostic on all the car and they said everything was showing up ok.talked to roadside and they said what i was describing was a burned clutch.the car smelled like it was on fire.took it to a gm dealer and they said i needed a new clutch and flywheel for $2400.i have to pay big dollars for a repair that almost killed me, and now i find out this is a common problem.come on gm you got lucky with me or you could of had another fatality.
The ay6 manual transmission is missing and grinding while attempting to shift into the second gear during engine operation above 5500 rpm.with the clutch pedal fully depressed shifting from first to second gear accommodates a violent grinding sound originating from the transmission area.the transmission does not have grinding/hesitation or missed shifting into any other gear, except the second gear.a vast majority of manual transmission v6 owners have been reporting the same issue.some owners have gotten their transmissions replaced by gm only to have the same problem reoccur.this is a major safety issue as any missed shifts may lead to a serious accident.
The rear driveshaft bolts between the guibo and the pinion flange sheered causing damage to my fuel tank shield, drive shaft, and flange. Out of warranty and had bill crispin perform warranty work on the components for a drivetrain concern.the vehicle was accelerating from a stop in stop and go rush hour traffic when the concern occurred on ford road where it intersects i-275.
Car has 46500 miles and is stored winters. Code p0008 timing chain. Nice to know all other 4.6 liter engines were applied the extended warranty except the camaro. Now i have to contend with the dealer in hopes they will repair under the goodwill act. I bet i still have to pay. Way to go gm
Clutch pedal stayed low to the floor intermittently and stays low during hard acceleration for a stop and during a shift.the 9/1/2014 incident i was on the interstate going 70 mph and down shifted for exiting.the clutch stayed to the floor as i came to a stop and would not return.car was turned off and restarted.clutch still did not return to operating position.i had to speed shift the vehicle to drive it to a dealer for repair.repair was not covered by the warranty and has not been recalled.i believe this is a manufacturing defect and a safety issue.if a driver panicked in this situation it could have resulted in injury to the driver and passengers in the car and possibly other travelers.
Bolts on the drive shaft are defective and breaking off the drive shaft. Car begins to vibrate heavily on stick shift and steering wheel. It is also represented and equally explained on other web pages regarding the chevrolet, camaro products, same year or newer. After inspection two of three nuts and bolts either broke off or cameoff, leaving one bolt to control the torq and horse power traveling down the drive shaft. Vehicle was hard to maneuver and clear off the road to a safe location.
The contact stated that the transmission would shift extremely hard and would sporadically shift from first to third of fourth gear independently. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would often accelerate abnormally. When the contact referenced the owners manual for the vehicle, it stated that the failure was a normal feature of the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. Also, the contact stated that the vehicle would often fail to start or would stall abnormally without warning. On one occasion, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition and the steering wheel locked abnormally. The contact believed that the theft deterrent system was the cause of the failure. The contact called the manufacturer and was awaiting a response in regards to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80 and the current mileage was approximately 900.
2010 camaro v6 manual transmission experiences notchy shifts from n to 1st, n to r, and 1st to 2nd.often times the notchiness is enough that shifting back into n or 1st is required and an additional attempt must be made to shift.
Transmission not being able to shift from 1st to 2nd. Hard shifting under hard acceleration. Almost get rearended at lights when taking off.
1st to 2nd gear grind/bind with manual transmission v6 camaro.have had this problem since purchasing new and i know many others with identical cars who have the same issue.gm refuses to address the issue, taking it to the dealer solves nothing as they do not acknowledge it.
I have been experiencing an intermittent problem when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. While merging into traffic from a stop and going into 2nd gear it grinds and is difficult to go into gear.this problem causes me to let off the gas and the re-compress the clutch and try to put the car into 2nd gear.due to my decrease of speed and attempting to merge into traffic this could cause a serious accident when the grind happens.i have reported my problem to gm customer service and have not heard anything about what they are going to do to fix this problem. There has not been any corrective action by gm.while driving i take extra precaution to ensure there is no vehicles around when i turn at an intersection or when merging into traffic on the highway. I have read that there is a similar problem with other car manufacturers with this transmission and they have corrected the problem or are in the process of correcting the problem on their vehicles.
At high engine rpm (4000 rpm or higher)while merging in to traffic, transmission grinds or refuses to go in to second gear. This has happened several times in my car.gm replaced the transmission with the same type transmission and the same thing is still going on.
I have a 2010 camaro with the ay6 manual transmission and v6 motor. I had the pressure plate bolts replaced under warranty after my transmission failed to shift into first, second,or any of the other gears suddenly after 14,000miles of adult driven normal use..the tech from gm told me the bolts were not torqued down from the factory(aisin/warner) and had been redesigned by gm.....ok.after researching this matter further i've found that hundreds of people have been having multiple problems with this transmission and the dealers and gm are trying to ignore that the problem exists. This transmission has a factory torque rating that is 273 ft lbs and the gm 3.6 vvt motor that is in our camaros puts out 278 ft lbs from the factory.so right off the bat the trans is destined to fail prematurely from this obvious problem and they are trying to pass the cost off to the customer in alot of cases.i was one of the fortunate ones who had the first problem covered but now im afraid to drive the car like a sports car in fear of facing thousands of dollars in repairs due to gms irresponsible actions by placing an inadequate transmission into an amazing car.im sure your aware of the problem from the other complaints filed but i know for a fact that not all have went this far as to contact you on this situation. There are four tsbs out on this pressure plate issue alone as well as other multiple problems that others are having with this transmission and i truly feel this can become a serious safety issue and a problem that needs to be addressed by general motors and not at the expense of the people who believed in buying an american product only to find out that this major flaw in planning and purchasing from aisin/warner is happening to the public and people throughout the world who purchased this car. Thank you for your help and understanding and i hope this helps in resolving this problem with general motors.
2010 camaro rs, v6 manual transmission.--veh shifts hard and at time's can not get into second gear and this has almost caused me 3 accidents already. While im in traffic--when its not shifting to bad, it gets what i call gear clash, or tech term is that it is the syncros in transmission grinding going into gears as you shift.- also clutch is intermit releasing high and causes big jerk in veh like someone pulling on e brake as you release clutch. Dealer has been grat [two of them] but thereis only so much they can do until g.m. Admits there is a problem, and i know 6 people who already got rid of veh as gm wont come up with fix, on the v6 manual or the v8 manual trans, which v8 manual has a shift issue that gmrefuses to acknowledge. Its only a matter of time before im rear ended in traffic because of veh wont go into second gear. In which shouldbe address for safety issue. Wife wont drive veh now because of this.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro.the contact was driving 30 mph when the vehicle exhibited an abnormal squeaking noise.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer advised that the clutch plate failed. The dealer replaced the clutch plate under the vehicle warranty. The contact also stated that the speedometer and the fuel gauge malfunctioned while driving. The dealer replaced the speedometer and fuel gauge also under the vehicle warranty.the contact believed the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the many problems it had undergone since the day of purchase.the failure mileage was 19,000.
Car has been repaired by dealer multiple times along with replacement of brand new parts on vehicle. Even after all of the repairs the transmission does not properly work. The transmissions will prevent you from engaging into first gear and second gear at certain times. I have researched the transmission and know that this is not an operating feature of the vehicle. In addition, there have been other vehicle in the past that have been equipped with this transmission and have the same exact issues. General motors has provided warranty work on the vehicle but problems still persist even after a new transmission and new clutch have been put in the vehicle. I feel unsafe at times to be driving this car when it prevents me from downshifting into certain gears.
Transmission grinds when shifting to from first to second under hard acceleration or when down shifting into second. Grinding occurs intermittently however occurs more often when warmed up. Other distinct issue that may be related is that hard put into gear, primarily first and reverse, when stopped.
2nd and 3rd gear grinding and/or binding when attempting to shift (manual transmission).transmission has been replaced, but problem persists.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that when shifting from first to second gear at 15-20 mph, the transmission would lock up and shift to fourth gear. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was told that it was designed to function that way. The dealer stated that it was a part of the skip shift operation. The current mileage was approximately 3,600. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000 updated 11/16/10updated 11/26/10
The new chevrolet camaro has a defect in the manual transmission causing the clutch to burn out after only a few thousand miles.this problem is well recognized over the internet and clearly gm knows about it because they have already designed a new clutch which was installed on my car last week.however they did not notify me as a new owner of this potentially dangerous defect and did not even notify my dealer until i brought the car in.i knew there was a problem a month ago but never considered the possibility of a clutch problem in a car with only 5,000 miles on it.had i known of the problem, i would have brought the car in electively rather than after i could no longer get into 1st gear or reverse!
Vehicle is a 2010 chev. Camaro v6 engine with manual transmission.the car routinely will not shift from 1st to 2nd gear resulting in sudden deceleration and near miss rearend collisions in traffic.
Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at higher rpm results in grinding and missed/delayed shift.
2010 camaro v6 manual transmission.transmission is very notchy, hard force shift from 1st to second gear.clutch has stuck to the floor.

2010 chevrolet camaro.the driver seat has an area on the lower right side that comes up by the center console.this area is not covered in material which exposes the seat frame and parts.my wife's skirt got hung up on the seat and she had to rip the skirt from the frame in order to apply the brakes this is a accident waiting to happen please give this fast attention. There should be a recall to cover the seat completely.i went to the dealer and checked other cars and they are the same.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that when the brakes were applied, the seat wouldmove forward and while accelerating the seat would move backwards. The dealer replaced the latch and locking mechanism; however, that has not corrected the failure. The contact stated that if the vehicle was involved in a crash the seat would fail to stay in place. The failure could also cause major back injury and a tragedy to occur. The failure mileage was not available.
When driving i keep getting a airbag warning notification on for the passenger side saying there's an issue. And now my driver's seat is stuck all the way forward and won't recline. I can't even drive the vehicle now because the seat won't move back to get behind the wheel. I don't know what to do!
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact was driving 70 mph when driver's side heated seat burned through her right leg. The heated seat was in use for about an hour before it failed. The seat caused blisters to the contact's leg that were treated by the contact herself. The vehicle was inspected but was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

I have had my car for 1 year. When i get to 55mph the steering wheel shake so bad, it's unbearable. This have been going on since i bought the car. I took it back to the dealership and they said it was the alignment. They aligned for me. Well it ran pretty good for a couple of days and then it started back shaking. I also have a problem with the rotors or brakes or something to that nature. It sounds like a 18 wheeler when i stop. The rotors or something make some kind of wobbling noise when i drive. I turn the radio down quite often so i can hear if anything is coming off from the brakes. I'm not paranoid, because passengers in the car ask me all the time, "what's that noise". For me to have a decent car like the camaro, i don't understand. Can you please run a thorough check on the tires, rotors, brakes on these cars. Also check the trunk too, because sometime my trunk won't open with the key nor by pushing the button on the inside of the car. I am concerned because i purchased a car over $30k and i'm not getting any enjoyment out of it. I'm scared to drive too far because the rotors or something may come off. Help please.

I purchase the car in 2/2010 & in 5/2010 the brakes started making noise & were loose to the point i had to pump them. I contactedgm took my car to bennett chevrolet who said nothing was wrong & that's the way they sound, so i took the car to garber the guy drove my car at first said he didn't hear anything, because the noise was obvious ,he then said it was coming from another car. In 12/10 the breaks went to the floor ,only after telling chevrolet that they will be held responsible. I took the car back to bennett they had to order the master cylinder i got my car back 1/2011. In 7/2013 the same noise again i don't drive the car much so i'm thinking a brake pad even after i notice the exterior around the air conditioner, shifting gearsand where the brakefluid goes in looked melt. On 8/2013 i took the car to bennett to be told again nothing is wrong and told the same lie that's the way they sound.9/2013 went to garberat first they said my brake pads are like new, i told them about the brake problem i had & it's the master cylinder again they repaired it, but i don't know the noise is still there and if history repeats its self the brakes will go to the floor again.

I just bought a 2010 chevy camaro on december 30th from a certified pre-owned car dealer and within a month later the power-steering pump fails and i have no power steering. It was one of the coldest days in the single digits, it's been a very bad winter for the northeast part of the us. In less then an hour before this happened the car was driving normally from supermarket to pharmacy to the restaurant where i bought lunch, which are all in a 7/8 block radius from my home. When i got home i couldn't find a place to park near my house because there isn't a whole lot of parking spaces in south philadelphia where i live, plus there's a corner bar on the corner who's customers don't live around here, so i parked about a block away. Not even an hour later a spot opened up in front of my house so i decided to go and get my car which when i found out the power steering was gone i was trying to turn the corner and trying to park my car took a lot of pain-staking force to turn the steering wheel and that is when i wrenched my lower back out and i was in pain. I'm disabled because i was in a car accident back in 2006 when i was working for a limousine company. I have bad lower back injuries consisting of herniated, bulging and ruptured discs. I was trying to turn the steering wheel to park and i wrenched out my lower back so bad that i'm laid up in bed. After doing some research online it seems i'm not the only one who is going through this problem or who's been through this problem many times over with the same power steering problem. When it's bitterly cold out the power steering pump breaks. I don't know why this isn't a recall yet because it's a part not covered under the power train warranty or the 5 years or 100k miles which ever comes first. So now i can't drive this car in the cold weather and where i live gets cold in the winter. This should be a recall please.

I was washing my car and i noticed a milky white looking spot on the front bumper. After i washed and dried the car, the spot was still there. That is when i knew it was not a spot, it looks like the clear coat is coming off the bumper. Then i looked at the rear bumper and deck lid and noticed that right where the factory spoiler is attached to the deck lid on both sides there are chips of paint missing. Looks like the spoiler has rubbed the paint off. I don't know what has caused this, but i am going to contact the dealership and see if there are any recalls or tsb reports on both of these issues.
I was driving down the 680 freeway when my girlfriend and i heard almost like a gunshot sound right above our heads so we opened our sunroof cover to find out our sunroof was shattered. The tint on my window is luckily keeping it together for now.
I recently purchased a 2010 camaro ss with very low milage. I noticed some rust on the upper and lower impact bar.the upper bar is completly rusted through. I consider this a safety issue due to a front end impact.i understand the warrenty is 5 years 100k for body panels. Is there anything gm can do to repair this?please see the 2 attachments, the diagram is part #18, and the pic is the hole in the bar. The red color is grease that i applied to deter and additional rusting.i find this highly unusual because the car has been in florida the entire life span.

Going over a bump in road or hole in road the strut bottoms out and makes loud noise.

When driving over any bump in the road, front end clunks very loud.it can be described as something loose on the front end.safety concern as i may loose ability to control vehicle.sounds like suspension related.it is a 2010 camaro i purchased in 2010 and the issue has always been there.dealer seems not to be able find anything wrong.test drove another and same issue.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 mph and making a turn, a loud abnormal noise emitted from outside of the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where it was determined that the rear axle was slightly fractured. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. The vin was unavailable.
Front suspension is very clunky going over moderate bumps. When the front suspension is rebounding onto a lower surface is bangs hard. I have passengers that have asked, "what's wrong with your car?" upon hearing it. Took it to the dealer, while still under warranty. Dealers response is all is fine, we didn't find any problems. I told them it has something wrong because what i'm experiencing with it is definitely not normal.
Popping noise in front end. Can be heard and felt when going slow and is even worse over a slight bump.
I own a 2010 chevy camaro that has a stubborn clunking sound that comes from the suspension when driving over imperfections in the road at low speeds.it sounds like it is coming from the front end but can't be sure.does not impact performance but does not sound right either.i understand there are other complaints of this as well.it has done this since i have owned the vehicle fromdec 2009.
Front suspension clunk noise, when going over small bumps, speed bumps, and even painted lines in worn roads i get a suspension noise like something is loose in the front suspension..dealer says they all do it, nd that it is normal.
I purchased my 2010 camaro, in august,2010, i noticed this front end popping noise shortly after i purchased it 300 kms, i took it to my dealer, and they checked it out, they agreed their was obvious a noise. They weren'taware of any problems with the camaro until i mentioned the tbs# pio197 gm had in place.i went with the service tech. On a roadtrip and he agreed there was a noise, he followedthe instructions according to the tbs,and told there is nothing they can do until gm acknowledges that there is a problem, and would have to abide by the tsb, i have been in touch with other camaro owners who is experiencing the same problem, who have gone to their dealer and have them say it is normal.other people that own the camaro is not experiencing the same problem ,therefore how can it be normal when all cars don't have this problem. You pay this kind of money for a vehicle and this is the service we get from gm in return,i felt that when youpurchase a vehiclefrom gm they are is suppose to be faithful and live up to it's binding contract written in it's warranty. My first choice was to purchased a dodge challenger, but changed my mind because i like the style a little better, but if i could changes things i would have stuck with my first choice.i will be determined to make people aware of this problem and let people/ media know thatgm products/service and the quality of there product is just one big headache. And don't stand behind their product. Why don't gm acknowledge this problem and fix it and make all us happy camaro owners, this publicity will not help the sale of gm products.check out the forums in 5thgen. Camaro under( popping in the front end) if you want to see how many camaro owners are experiencing this problem.my car is in winter storage at the moment with 1200 kms on it, and is hoping there will be fix in place before i take it on the road in the spring.
Car makes clunking noise in the front suspension when going over small bumps at low speed.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro. The contact statedwhile attempting a turn, the front drivers side control arm failed. The manufacturer stated the failure was not a defect and was due to driver error therefore; the warranty would not cover any repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 20,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro ss equipped with pirelli pzero tires, size p245/45/20. The contact stated that the tires sold on the vehicle were "summer tires". While driving 45 mph and passing another vehicle, the tires lost traction and moved sideways. The contact called the tire manufacturer who stated that when the temperature was below 45 degrees, the tires should not be used. The warranty was void and should be switched for "winter tires". The tires were not replaced. The current mileage was approximately 8,000. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
New 2010 chevrolet camaro....four new pirelli tires came with new car...had to replace tires due to separation of tread...car only had 16,000 mi a year and a half a little early to replace tires...too dangerous to drive with tires in this condition...contacted pirelli tires to no avail...bought a new car so as not to have costly repairs or dangerous equipment..tires should be recalled..
I took my car in for service, ie, oil change, tire rotation, air filter replacement. I was informed that my tires, even though they had plenty of tread life left on them, 6/32 front, 5/32 rear, that they were dry rotted and separated between the treads. Also was informed that this could be very dangerous, the tires may come apart while driving. I was informed by the technician that this was a defect in the tires. In addition, the tires were put on a 2010 camaro and the manufactures date on all 4 tires are from 2008. I know eventually i would have to buy new tires, but if the tires weren't in the condition they are in i more than likely could get another 30,000 miles out of them. Most importantly is the safety hazard of the tires. Looking through the reports on this particular tire, i saw similar complaints.
The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet camaro (na) equipped with pirelli p0 tires, size 245/45/r20 front, 275/40/r20 in the rear. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with tires that were only good in the summer weather or in states that had continuously nice weather all year long. He stated that the tires had no traction and on the tire it was notated "summer only". The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The dealer stated that they had no control over the tires that were installed by the factory and referred him to the manufacturer. The manufacturer offered no assistance. The tires were not replaced. The vin was not available.the failure mileage was approximately 100 and the current mileage was approximately 150.
Engine stalls while accelerating in traffic and won't restart.
Cracked dash above passenger airbag
Note. Passenger! not owner!
Reduced engine power message
The heater core in the camaro has become faulty. It is leaking coolant onto the passenger floor area and also producing strong fumes within the cabin. It also makes visibility very difficult as the windows fog up and the defroster no longer works properly/
Tpms system and remote keyless entry fails to operate correctly after installing new tires.dealer was unable to resolve the problem even with a change to the keyless entry module.gm reports that some tires have too much steel in the belts causing the signals to be blocked or be intermittent which can cause drivers to drive on under inflated tires.failure occurs in any type of driving.gm needs to replace the sensors with ones that provide a stronger signal to comply with the tread act.
My wife was involved in a collision in her 2010 chevy camaro. This vehicle is subject to a key fob recall and the recall was not done. My wife was driving n/b on hy 99 throught acampo ca and approximately 60 mph. It was raining. The car possibly hydroplaned in the rain but then she lost all steering, brakes and power and was not able to control the vehicle. As a result the car left the roadway and there was a significant front end impact when the front of the car hit a drainage ditch.the vehicle went into a uncontrolled spin and came to rest back in the #2 lane of n/b hy 99. The engine was not running when the car stopped. My wife did have several keys on her key ring. We believe that she would have been able to control the vehicle had the flawed key fob not shut the vehicle off. There was also a significant enough front end impact that the airbags would have deployed if the car were running when the collision occurred. The car was a total loss. I explained the key fob issue to the insurance company and the chp officer who took the original report. Neither researched this and they did not believe this flaw could have been the primary factor in this collision. My wife's injuries were minor. We are at a loss and do not know how to proceed. Most attorneys will not take this case because the injuries were minor. I truely believe this crash was caused by the faulty key fob and i do not think the insurance or the chp should hold my wife responsible for this. I will attach photos of our car showing that the airbags should have deployed but didn't. I can get copies of the police report and the letters i sent to my insurance and the chp. Chp's response was that even though the car shut off, it couldn't have caused this collision. Like i said they did not look into this.any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Bad heater core leaking fluid into vehicle cabin, chevy repair cost$2978.86gm case # 9-5057042493
My 2010 chevy camaro has only 14,361 miles on the odometer and is not subjected to weather over 99% of the time. A few months ago i noticed a very faint mark or scratch or crack in the passenger side dashboard over the airbag. It is becoming more pronounced and now a second crack is forming.i checked with my local dealer and they in turn checked with a gm rep. They are telling me they will replace it for about $1250 but i will have to pay $800 of the costs. Considering that i treat my car with the utmost care and adding to that the fact that the internet is filled with complaints about cracks over the passenger side airbag on 2010 camaros, this issue should be investigated further for a possible recall.
3.6 timing chain p0008 code.
The contact was driving approximately 5 mph in a residential driveway when the vehicle suddenly increased acceleration to the speed of 15 mph. The vehicle failed to slow down after the contact depressed the brakes numerous times and crashed into the garage door. There was minor damage to the front end of the vehicle but no severe body damage. The contact was uninjured. One month prior to the failure, the contact stated that the led warning indicator displayed a reading of a reduction in the engine power and the engine power became extremely low causing the vehicle not to accelerate over 35 mph. The throttle body was replaced by the dealer to correct the problem. The vehicle was not further diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 1,200.
I was driving approximately 60 mph on a county road & upon approaching the city limits i put on my brakes to slow down & they failed to work. I tried again several more times & they still failed to work. I was quickly approaching a red light, & several cars that were stopped at this red light, & i put both feet on the brakes & was barely able to contain my car. It slowed down finally, just inches away from the car in front of me, but it was continuously revving up by itself while i still had both feet on the brakes. It was still trying to accelerate by itself.i panicked & threw it in park & then it just shut off by itself. I was able to crank it again & drive home.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet camaro.
Car is 2010 chevrolet camaro ss with a manual transmission (ls3).problem:cruise control can be activated when the car is in neutral.steps to replicate:drive normally and go above 40mph, after which shift down to neutral and activate cruise control.result:the car will activate cruise control and will start to redline the engine.as a result if you shift in to a lower gear, the vehicle will jump to a very high speed since the tachometer is redlining, potentially damaging the engine and making it hard to control the car.problem has been replicated on two different models of the same vehicle.have not reported to gm because their customer service loves to argue and do nothing about it.

The heater core in the camaro has become faulty. It is leaking coolant onto the passenger floor area and also producing strong fumes within the cabin. It also makes visibility very difficult as the windows fog up and the defroster no longer works properly/

I have a 2010 chevy camaro rs 2 lt. I am experiencing an issue with front ps wheel "washboarding" ;feels like driving with a flat tire. Dealership replaced front tires, still have problem; they pretty much washed their hands of this issue, said they can't find anything... It only does this in the morning when starting out, when i drive vehicle later in the day it drives fine, but i now have a metal on metal sound coming from that wheel so its progressively getting worse. I love the vehicle, but am increasingly frustrated with this situation and lack of concern with dealer. I don't live in a cold climate, just the opposite, so tire flatspotting isn't a consideration here...at times, the car also seems difficult to control as if its riding in a road rut and being "pulled" to one side or another.am concerned about safety until its finally resolved; don't want to have my grandchildren in vehicle either..... Issue still unresolved......
The 2010 camaro rs package only comes with pirelli p-zero tires, (p245/45/zr20 in front, p275/40/zr20 in rear). These are "summer only" tires. Neither gm nor the dealership explained this at the time of purchase. It was also not included in any of the paperwork describing the vehicle or in the owner's manual. The vehicle was purchased in northern illinois, where winter driving conditions are a given. I only became aware of this after the first significant snowfall, when the vehicle became extremely difficult to control. It skids during even at low acceleration and during gentle braking. When the dealership was contacted, they said there was nothing they or gm could do regarding the situation. They are selling these vehicles with "standard equipment" that is certain to make them unsafe to drive for a significant portion of the year in many parts of the country. They are giving the buyer no warning of this. This is unethical at best and could lead to serious injury and property damage.
