Left front turn signal bulb continually fails during wet weather when car encounters a puddle. Turn signal wire assembly has been replaced and the bulb has been replaced 4 times in the three years i've owned the vehicle. Right side never fails under similar circumstances.

When refueling the car, gas will spill out while filling the tank. There is some kind of issue with venting of the gas tank when refueling. There is no check engine light and the car runs fine. I called the local dealer and they said there is no recalls or tsb's for this issue, and the tech i spoke with said he has not heard of this issue. I have done searches on camaro related technical web sites and its a known issue with the camaro, firebird and transam community, but didn't find a resolution.any help would be appreciated.

The consumer smelled a fuel odor coming from the vent area.the consumer had the vehicle inspected, however the problem could not be duplicated.

Driving along highway and suddenly my car begins to accelerate without pressing on gas pedal.acceleration is stuck, i can't stop the car other than by riding the brakes or turning engine off.i reach speeds up to 90 miles an hour.when i cut the engine off, it causes loss of power, but luckily not steering.turn engine back on and engine redlines (clutch let out).i pop clutch back in and car begins to accelerate again.turn hazards on, cop then pulls up behind me telling me to pull over.fear and anxiety compounded, but car still will not work.i cut the engine and highway patrol guides me over to the right shoulder.cop is forced to push my car since it cannot continue on its own.car towed in and dealer said a rock was wedged on the throttle return spring causing throttle to be wide open.rock was removed and dealer says car is functioning.the safety issue is with how the rock ever got there.that should not be happening, even at 1 in a million chance.i know my life and the life of my passenger were in danger.cop could probably attest to that as well.

Engine stalls when coming to a stop. In addition, the battery volt gauge drops below 13. This doesn't happen every time i come to a red light, but it happens frequently enough. Also, after filling the vehicle with gas, the engine stalls almost immediately after it is started. (only when in drive).

Tachometer is reporting incorrectly.as a result, engine is overspeeding with potential repair problems.two different dealers have tried to repair with no success.because of the defective tachometer, the engine understates actual rpm in each gear.i have overspeeded the engine numerous times and am concerned about potential damage because of this.

The consumer heard a loud noise from the rear end.the mechanic broke down the rear end and found that the axle bearings showed very unusual wear patterns that were not normal for a vehicle with little mileage.(replaced the axle bearings/seals, front/rear pinion bearings, and the differential carrier bearings)the consumer feels that the premature wear of the axle is an indication of this being a defective component.*scc

Rear making unnatural noise.dealers tried to give static that is was the rotors and after they proceded to fix them noise remained.next they tried to say the noise was natural.i have found from many people in forums that there are problems w/ the rears in these cars, ranging from bearings to gears and even the housing.i have also obtained work orders for parts fixed for other people.dealership is still giving me static about my car and says the problem is normal.--no other car in the lot does it though, not even used vehicles w/ high mileage on them.

The clutch was sticking, the vehicle stalled when the brakes were applied. Recall #99v239000.

Dt*: the contact stated the clutch assembly will only depress half way.there is a nhtsa recall, #99v239000 regarding the power train: clutch assembly.the contact was not notified of the recall.the clutch assembly has been replaced and the contact is seeking reimbursement from general motors.the manufacturer has been alerted however they will not provide information regarding reimbursement to the contact. My clutch has been slipping since approximately 20,000 miles.sometimes i can't get it into gear, grinding gears.i know many many people who are having the same problem with there 6-speed manual camaro with even less milage.

Clutch began slipping, and deadpedaling (sticking to floor) at approx. 5000 miles, has been taken to dealership 6 times and dealership will not fix, stating that there is no problem.recently had transmission rebuilt under warranty because of bad clutch.was told that they should not warranty it, because the clutch was bad.i told them that the clutch has been bad, and that i had taken it to them numerous time to fix it.was informed that the clutch was only warrantied for 12k miles and they would not fix it under warranty.

When depressingpedal clutch does not fully engage, which may cause extended stopping distance. When the vehicle is put into reverse there is a grinding noise 100% oftime.manufacturer was called about this problem. Owner was told that vehicle was not included in recall# 99v239000 gm/ clutch and would not be serviced free of charge.problem has not been corrected.please provide any furtherinformation.

Noticed rearend noise at highway speeds. Turned vehicle into dealership for repair. Bad pinon seal was cause of rearend to leak fluid. Was replaced under warranty. Same problem has occured now 5 times in the last 14 months. Twice the entire rearend had to be rebuilt with new gears, bearings, and seals. Again all 5 causes were the pinon seal leaking and causing loss of fluid in the rearend. Rearend must have a manufactuer defect to cause 5 pinon seals to leak in less than 14 months and only 8,000 miles.

Vehicle was purchased with 2,000 miles on it and still under manufacturers warranty.after driving the vehicle at highway speeds for a few days i noticed the steering wheel shimmied back and forth. This was annoying but not enough to cause concern.i wanted to wait a little longer and make sure there were no other issues to bring to the dealers attention before taking it in for warranty work. At about 7,ooo miles the shimmying became much more intense and very dangerous when braking at 50 to 60 mph.this condition could cause loss of vehicle control and collision. I took vehicle to dealer and was told the rotors were warped due to excessive braking and not covered under warranty.i had to pay to have the rotors turned. I contacted general motors and complained and have not heard back from them. Also the driveline makes a "tink tink" noise when going from park to "r" or "d" or whenever the load changes on the drivetrain. I was told the differential needed servicing at 7,000 miles at my cost.

Transmission does not want to come out of gear when the clutch is pressed. Axle vibration, ball joints. Jumping out of gear sometimes, very bad for a camaro ss with only 29,000 miles.

I have experienced problems with the stock shifter causing mis-shifts. I am a member on a bbs and there have been numerous entries refering to this problem. Due to the shifter, it is very easy to mis-shift into a lower gear when upshifting. So far has happened to me twice and causes the rear tires to loose control since the engine causes them to nearly stop. I am an experienced manual transmission driver and i have never had this problem before. A worst case senario would be to loose complete control due to the rear tires locking up and also engine damage due to over-revving. There isn't a recall for the shifter so no dealer help can be found. So far others have resolved this problem by replacing the shifter with an aftermarket unit and report no more problems with missed shifts. I hope something can be done before someone gets hurt.

The 1999 camaro has a dangerous so called "feature" called "skip shift" which prevents shifting from 1st to 2nd gear under certain circumstances.twice i was making a left turn and was unable to shift into 2nd gear - i was stuck without power and cars were coming at me.several other times this happened while driving straight ahead, and i lost power with cars coming up behind me.chevy refused to disable this 2nd gear lockout for me, saying that it is needed to meet environmental regulations - or to avoid a gas guzzler tax.this "feature" is dangerous and should be disabled.i wouldn't have bought the car if i knew about it - unfortunately it didn't happen on my test drive because "skip shift" only locks you out after the engine has been warmed up sufficiently.this lockout also tends to make the car shift into 4th gear - which is dangerous at 15 mph because there is little power at that speed in 4th gear.there is a light on the dashboard warning about skip shift, but it is hidden by my hand on the steering wheel or by the wheel itself when making a left turn.the warning light is useless anyway because driver's eyes are on the road when shifting gears.as admitted by chevy, this whole "skip shift" lockout is a way to avoid paying a gas guzzler tax, but it makes driving dangerous since shifting into 2nd gear becomes impossible.

The contact owns a 1999 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the seat belt failed to retract when the brake pedal was engaged. The traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the seat belt mechanism needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.

The driver's seat belt does not fully engage, but appears to be fastened properly.i have had many different occasions (more than 10) in which i fastened my seatbelt and began to drive away and the seatbelt popped out of the receiver, or even arriving at my location, and before i un-snapped my seatbelt, it came loose from the receiver.the seatbelt light was not on while i was driving, but the seatbelt apparently was not engaged properly.

While involved in a head-on accident dual airbags did not deploy, and driver's seat belt broke, causing injuires.vehicle was a total loss.

Brake rotors were cut, then replaced, problem reoccurs. When brakes are applied the steering wheel shakes /pulsates and makes car terribly hard to control.

I bought my vehicle new 7 months ago. Now the brake system is getting worse. The front-end, steering wheel, shakes violently when i apply the brakes during normal driving. I took the car to the dealership to inquire about the problem 3 days ago, and the service man told me it was probably warped front rotors so i made an appointment for today. I went in and the service man (a different one) told me that they could fix it, but that it wasn't covered under warranty. This is what upsets me most. The vehicle is still under the warranty period. I have been driving the car under normal conditions, so why do i still have to pay for the rotors to be fixed? this is a known problem with the 1998 and newer camaro's and should be covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

There are instances of severe jerking to either left or right when applying the brakes.this is an intermittent problem that is unpredictable and unexpected.it is most noted at slower speeds, probably because it is less expected.despite the single date and mileage listed in this report, it has happened throughout the life of the vehicle.the dealer has replaced brake pads once without curing the problem.this is an accident waiting to happen.

Warped rotors.

Whenapplying brakes at speeds of 40mph and higher vehicle vibrates violently. Dealer has replacedrotors three times, and the problem has reoccurred.

Car only has 40000 miles on it and whenever i would brake or come up to a stop light, the wheels would shimmy and the steering wheel would vibrate. I was afraid it would not stop and would cause an accident. I took it to the chevrolet dealer in waldorf md. The mechanic said he could find nothing wrong with it and could not make it do it. That was 2 months ago and it still does it all the time. Sounds like all these other similar complaints for this vehicle.. Defective warped rotors. This is very dangerous and i cannot get a dealership to fix it.*nlm

Rotors had to be replaced twice, and vehicle started to shake when applying brakes. Consumer stated vehicle felt like it would not stop.

Front brake rotor continuallywarp.replacements were done atevery 8,000 miles of wear.vehicle been to three different dealers, andstill unable to resolve the problem. Feel free to provide any further details.

Premature wear of the brake rotors, causing warping and extended stopping distance vehicle is on its second set of rotors.

Need information regarding the 1999 camaro braking system(rotors, etc.)& structural rattling.

Both front rotors have been turned twice to releive wearout. Rotors willhave to be replaced again, and will not be covered under warranty by manufacturer.defective rotors do not allow consumer to stop vehicle appropriately which could cause an automobile accident.

Car will not brake or stop smoothly. Condition is warped rotors. Selected a well known popular parts shop for replacement rotor. Replacement rotor is diamond cut w/o holes. Bigger cooling vains with a set of porcelin pads. Unknown at this time if this corrects the warping problem.

Rotors first became warped at around 20,000. Rotors continue to become warped every 5-10,000. Gm/chevrolet refuse to admit or fix this defect despite numerous complaints from many drivers.*la

Brakes were squeaking, dealership replaced the rotors, however 2 weeks later brakes are squeaking again.*cj

Vehicle exp[eriencing problem with front rotors wraping due to high heat while applying brakes. Dealer notified.

Dealer has refaced front brake rotors twice once under warranty and once for $100.00 i believe the rotors to be defective due to oem quality or heat treat specifications and engineering standards, there are aftermarket rotors available that do not warp with the severity and frequency of the oem parts.

The warped rotors that were replaced in my car were warped at about 9,000 miles.my biggest concern is that the dealer is telling me that this is not warranty work because this is "normal" wear and tear.

Very bad shimmy and shake when braking, also when trying to spped up from a dead stop or otherwise car pulls back, or stumbles. At about 45000 miles a valve broke into three pieces. Had heads replaced. Brakes and stumbling is reoccuring brakes since i bought the car new in 99 and stumble since early 2004. Speakers located in the back seat panels also keep blowing out.

Badly warped rotors making auto uncontrollable during braking due to heavy shudder.

Front brake rotors experienced warping under normal driving conditions, causing shuddering ofvehicle during braking.dealer resurfaced rotors.rotors warped again within 2000 miles.

Ongoing problem with faulty rotors. On two occasions (14,000 miles & 28,000 miles), dealer turned all rotors because of pulsation received from brake pedal when applied brakes.currently, at 32,000miles, problem reoccurred, and dealer refused to replace rotors.

I have had to bring the car in for front rotor machining or replacement appoximately every 8 - 10,000 miles.the brakes pulsate and the wheel vibrates when the brakes are applied at highway speeds when the defect occurs.turning the rotors or replacing them has fixed the probelm, but it seems to be quite frequent to have brake repairs of the same type to occur this frequently, my previous car a 1995 camaro only required the same service once in approximately 60,000 miles and only when the brake pads had worn out and metal to metal contact with the rotors occurred.

Consumer states that the when brakes were applied, feet slipped off and hit gas pedal. Mr

While riding along in my camaro out of no where the sunvisor comes down striking my head and fallen on my lap. If i was using it for seeing and i was following someone in the sun it could have been a major crask. Also the sunvisor fell off my lap onto the floor interfering with the brake and gas pedal. This is dangerous and should be recalled.

Floor of trunk is wet after rain; no visible leaks have been detected.

Right and left front fenders are not connected to the frame under the vehicle.the dealer was asked to reattach the right fender.they did attach it, however it now sticks out.upon returning to the dealership we requested they reattach the fender so that it is no longer sticking out.we also requested that they check the left fender as we had noticed it to be loose as well.the manager at the dealership had checked the fenders and said that they are not covered under warrenty and it appears that the vehicle had been bottomed out.the vehicle had not been bottomed out and showed no signs of such on the bottom of the vehicle.how can they repair the right fender and they say that the same problem on the left side is not covered under warrenty?i would like to have some answers.

Paint peeling from rear fender - dealer advised that it looks exactly like the paint problems gm had in the late '80s to early '90s.chevrolet customer service advises that they can't do anything about it.

This is a toxic car. It has a mold problem and is making me sick. The car smells like mold. We pulled out all the seats and carpet cleaned everything to try to get it out. It still smells like mold. It is not the heater or ac as the smell is coming from the back of the vehicle. There is no dampness but everything i put in the back seat ends up smelling like mold. I call it the mold mobile. After about 2 minutes, you can't smell the mold, so it makes it difficult to track. The dealership in waldorf said it would take days to locate it, but they could smell it too.
