My 16-year old son was involved in a fender-bender. Both the drivers and passenger air bags deployed, destroying the dash and windshield of his 1995 chevy camaro. There was no damage to the front of his car from the crash, except for a broken fog light, as he was traveling at approx 5-8 mph. The air bag ripped the dash from the firewall, burned his arm and scrathced his face and arms. I cannot believe that in this low speed this much damage should have resulted from this type of incident. When i spoke to product allegations group with gm, they agreed with me that this type of air bag was designed for"moderate-to-severe crashes", not a low-speed incident. But upon looking at pictures supplied by the local chevy dealer, gm is now telling me that the air bags deployed based on the sound waves coming from the stereo system. What a load of bunk! if that is the case, air-bags should be going off all over the place. And if that were true, isn't that also a design flaw?please contact me as soon as possible....i believe that gm should be responsible for replacing my son's destroyed dash and windshield, based on the fact that the air-bags were defective and should not have deployed under these circumstances.thank you.
I have had no luck getting any assistance from the dealership classic chevrolet in anaheim hills, ca additonally more electrical problems arise and have not yet been diagnosed or repared completely to date.
My daughter pushed in the cigarette lighter that is when she saw a spark and a trail of fire going to top of stereo and over to steering area. She parked car and called the fire dept. The only thing left of my car is back tires and taillights. I have had the anti lock brake light staying on. Wipers work only when and if they feel like it. They don't cover glass ondriver side window. Not being able to go up or down if you didn't wait an hour in between. This car has only 70000 miles all factory nothing added on. *ph

Had car towed to repair center.at car repair center car started without any servicing being performed.repairman could not find or explain possible reason for condition.about two weeks later another sudden loss of electrical and engine power while driving home from the grocery store.managed to coast car to a safe location off the road.after a short period of time, power returned and was able to start car and drive the rest of the way home.
The rear axel seal is leaking again, the trim glue is melting on all the windows,the fuel pump or electrical problem is occuring again and the car bucks and jerks with acceleration,the dealer stated that the manufacturer does not have a glue that holds up in hot wheather. Also the sun visor straps melted and stretched. Vin# not with me at this time

My vehicle was towed to an auto shop and the owner informed me that everything had burned up, the abs system, the computer, computer chips, all the electrical componets were burned.he could not explain how this could have happened.the owner took 3 months to fix it.it was so expensive that we only fixed a few of the things, we did away with the abs system and the air bag.because we had to pay for the repairs we were unable to make a payment on the vehicle causing it to be repossesed.i recall reading an article in consumer reports mentioning electrical problems but it didn't specify which ones.if you could give us some information regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated.sincerely, a disgrunted chevrolet buyer

Original owner of 95 camaro 350 engine that did regular mobil 1 oil changes and has 97000 miles. Had to replace damaged-worn camshaft and lifters. I have heard that this is a problem that gm is having with other cars also. I had a problem back in the 70's when gm had a recall on soft cam shafts and this looks like the same problem that i just had fixed on this 1995.
On the engine there is a leak on the back driver side of the engine. Replaced cam seal, leak is still present,cruise control surges when using.driver window rattles when rolled down between half and all the way down. Bearing in front pump of transmission went out,caused the torque convertor to go out. Replaced both, and then transmission started slipping,replaced transmission.
The oil has been changed about nine times. Each time,smell of fuel mixed with the oil has been detected, transmission failed four times, once resulting in loss of control; also cruise control failed to disengage.

On august 5th i purchased this vehicle, on 8/8/2000 i took it tobp gas station because the abs light was staying on, it cost me 180.30 at that time to fix the problem i thought, 3 days after that the abs light came back on, i took it back to bp and then was told the whole brake system needed to be replaced, i went back to valu martdid some complaining and since i only had the car a week they supposinly replaced the system but would not reimburse for what i had already spent, so far the abs light has not come back on. It is the check engine light that keeps coming on, it cost me 430.00 for valu mart to replace the cylnoids, although only the number one cylinoide was bad all three had to be replaced because all three are one part, this is two weeks after i bought the car. The check engine light still comes on, i took it back down to valu mart and was told that the memory had not been erased that is why the light kept coming on, so they reset the memory, but that did not work, so i took it back to them and they put it back on the machine to find out they had gotten a bad part so they replaced it, but the next day the light came back on i took it back to them now they are telling me they have to take it to the dealer because whatever is wrong with it they (valu mart) do have the proper equipement to detect the problem . Here i have paid them 430.00 for something they haven't fixed and its hard telling what the dealer is going to charge and i haven't had the car more than a month yet and haven't put but 700 miles on it and most of that is from it being test driven after each vist to the garage, i know i bought the car used but i think these use car places should at least check these vechiles out a little better before selling them, when you pay 6000.00for car you at least expect to beable to drive it some before having to start paying for having parts replaced. And come monday 8/18/2000 its hard telling what the dealer will find..

The rear window moulding is melting away from around the window.we bought this car brand new ,and the moulding shouldn't be coming off the window.we keep our car parked on thecar porch, so is protected from the weather.we bought our other car brand new, and it is a cheverolet corsica back in 1987 and we didn't have any problems with the molding melting away from the window.i feel that i shouldn't have to pay for having the moulding put back on, and the car is almost paid for.that doesn't make sense; you buy a car brand new and you take care of it and you still have unnecessary problems which should have been taken care of before it left the assembly line.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 30 mph, flames erupted from the engine compartment.the vehicle pulled over and no injuries were sustained.the engine and front of the vehicle were completely engulfed in flames by the time the fire department arrived.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence.the service dealer and manufacturer were notified.an inspector from the manufacturer was sent to inspect the cause of the fire.the contact suspected a melted section of the plastic fuel line melted and leaked fuel onto the hot engine causing the fire.

Discovered gas tank leak while car parked in albany, ny.proceeded to de paula chevrolet, 785 central avenue, albany, ny 12206, tel: 518-489-0122. The fuel tank is protected by a metal "shroud". The gas was leaking onto the exhaust pipe. Both shroud and fuel tank were in perfect condition. The hole in the gas tank was directly under the shroud, near the center of the tank - thus no outside object could have possibly caused the damage. The dealer listed the problem as rust - as that was the only explanation they could offer. An examination of the tank showed no rust. This car has not seen a winter as it is garaged duing the winter months. The dealer. De paula should still have the tank, as i requested it be held. Gm customer service was polite, however their interest was in the fact that the car is out of warranty and the expense is mine. I do care about the $900 it cost to fix but i stressed to themhow upset i was with the fact that this car was close to exploding.additionally fuel tanks do not wear out in 6 years. I used to be in the automotive business.

I also had to replace the battery at 8,000 miles.this car has me affraid to drive it. It is very unreasoable that a driveshaft needs to be replaced at 26,000 miles, or that real axels are replaced then they leak again and have to be replaced again. I was told to drive vehicle into dealership when it wouldn't stop and was under warrantee. I myself scheduled a tow, it could have killed someone they didn';t even care.i called gmc, and they don't care either. I have a lemon that i am affraid off. I also did not get the keyless entry that came with this vechicle. The dealership told me i really didn't want it anyway. It was trouble but i paid for it. I never got the sticker from the window either. I paid 21,000 for this junk heap that is a danger to the road.i am 52 and drive carefully and baby this car. I talked with gmc, and they are not interested in what i have to say. What will brake next?my mechanic was appalled that this last thing. A drive shaft on a car failed with 26,000 miles. I also had to replace the battery at 8,000 miles.this car has me affraid to drive it. It is very unreasoable that a driveshaft needs to be replaced at 26,000 miles, or that real axels are replaced then they leak again and have to be replaced again. I was told to drive vehicle into dealership when it wouldn't stop and was under warrantee. I myself scheduled a tow, it could have killed someone they didn';t even care.i called gmc, and they don't care either. I have a lemon that i am affraid off. On august 5th i purchased this vehicle, on 8/8/2000 i took it tobp gas station because the abs light was staying on, it cost me 180.30 at that time to fix the problem i thought, 3 days after that the abs light came back on, i took it back to bp and then was told the whole brake system needed to be replaced, i went back to valu martdid some complaining and since i only had the car a week they supposinly replaced the system but would not reimburse for what i had already spent, so far the abs light has not come back on. It is the check engine light that keeps coming on, it cost me 430.00 for valu mart to replace the cylnoids, although only the number one cylinoide was bad all three had to be replaced because all three are one part, this is two weeks after i bought the car. The check engine light still comes on, i took it back down to valu mart and was told that the memory had not been erased that is why the light kept coming on, so they reset the memory, but that did not work, so i took it back to them and they put it back on the machine to find out they had gotten a bad part so they replaced it, but the next day the light came back on i took it back to them now they are telling me they have to take it to the dealer because whatever is wrong with it they (valu mart) do have the proper equipement to detect the problem . Here i have paid them 430.00 for something they haven't fixed and its hard telling what the dealer is going to charge and i haven't had the car more than a month yet and haven't put but 700 miles on it and most of that is from it being test driven after each vist to the garage, i know i bought the car used but i think these use car places should at least check these vechiles out a little better before selling them, when you pay 6000.00for car you at least expect to beable to drive it some before having to start paying for having parts replaced. The rear window moulding is melting away from around the window.we bought this car brand new ,and the moulding shouldn't be coming off the window.we keep our car parked on thecar porch, so is protected from the weather.we bought our other car brand new, and it is a cheverolet corsica back in 1987 and we didn't have any problems with the molding melting away from the window.i feel that i shouldn't have to pay for having the moulding put back on, and the car is almost paid for.that doesn't make sense; you buy a car brand new and you take care of it and you still have unnecessary problems which should have been taken care of before it left the assembly line.

Abs brake failed 5 times, pedal went floor, loss of effectiveness, once resulting in an accident, impact 12:00 position, driver's side airbag did not deploy.also, seat belt did not hold/engine constantly overheated and windshield wipers were inoperative, won't clean windshield properly.
