This was done on invoice 171017, but due to the complexity of this inspection i fail to see how this can be accomplished in the 18 minutes annotated on the invoice. The fuel tank filler is literally buried above the tank in the rear above the axle. This tank leaks now and has been since about two months after i bought the car. It has had a strong fuel odor since i bought the car. The service writer said that was normal on efi cars. I don't think so.

There is a recall on this component for my vehicle, nhtsa campaign id number 94v077000.the fuel tank filler neck solder joint is cracked just as described in the recall database.i have taken the vehicle to the chevrolet dealership and called the chevrolet customer care center at 800-222-1020, and they say that my car is not eligible to have this problem corrected.i guess they feel i am eligible to have my car catch fire or explode because of a faulty fuel tank!at this point, all i would like is for gm to correct the problem with my vehicle, in the future after the vehicle has exploded, perhaps my family will request much more of gm.landon ball.

Had received recall notice 94v077000 in mail. Contacted dealer. Took vehicle to dealer & had fuel tank checked. Nothing was wrong & no repairs done. Now fuel tank isleaking. Informed by manufacturer that fuel tank was replaced & will not do repairs due to age of vehicle. Owner told manufacturer tank was never replaced or repaired.

I have a 1992 camaro rs, 5.0 liter engine, there is a safety recall on the filler tube for the gas tank , loose solder joints etc. I took it to a local chevy dealer here in tallahassee, dropped it off the night before they looked at it. I got a call at 8:12 the next morning, which was only 12 minutes after they had started work saying they could not get the parts to fix it, because their service manager said the car was to old and they would have to call the manufacturer. So i asked why it was that i could go to the local auto parts and buy them and if they were not willing to fix it , i would call the nhtsa and talk to them. He quickly changed his tune and said " oh no don't do that we will find the parts". So roughly at 3:00 pm that afternoon i received another call from the dealer, saying" your inspection is complete, we did not find any problems". Which really didn't surprise me that he said that due to the fact they never wanted to fix such an old car to begin with. I am not a mechanic, but i am a technical engineer and i know how long it takes to examine something to the full extent, and .4 hours which is equivalent to maybe 23minutes, is not sufficient time to examine a leaky fuel system on a car. That is what my invoice stated and it was under warranty work, in other words they wrote off 25 minutes of warranty work and did absolutely nothing to repair or even bother to look at my vehicle forsafety recall. Why do i state the aforementioned? easy, when the gas tank has over half a tank it leaks like crazy at the goose neck right from the solder joints, just like the safety recall mentions. Leaks right on the exhaust pipe and is going to start a fire one of these days and i would have to say it will be the chevy dealers problem since they inspected it, less than 1 month ago and found no problems what so ever. I have had the run around with other people, but this was more than obvious what they did.

I just paid for $653.93 worth of service from al serra chevrolet, which included an engine flush.i drove it around the block to work and after work went to the store and purchase food.when i returned to the car, i started the car and before i put the car in gear, i stepped on the brake.to my surprise i got a large vacuum leak and no brakes. I had the car towed to al serra chevrolet that night using my own roadside service.the findings of the al serra service department were that the brake booster burst internally on its own. This finding told me that this part was defective.the al serra service department concluded that nothing they did cause the failure and the incident was a coincidence.i will now have to pay an additional $375.50 to replace the defective part.i will make inquiries to find the failure rate of the brake boosters on camaros.i realize the car is seven years old (only 41,028 original miles), however; a brake booster failure of this magnitude could have put my life in jeopardy if the car had been moving instead of parked.the conclusion is that this part defect represents a safety hazard that is totally unacceptable.the fact that i am having to replace the defective part with my own money compounds the problem. It is my belief that something broke loose during the engine flush that made its way through the vacuum line and ruptured the diaphragm in the brake booster.since the dealership will assume no liability in the matter i will approach the manufacturer and the proper safety organization to insure that nothing like this happens to someone else.
