Its spinning vanes had rusted,throwing off big rusty chunks of metal under dist. Cap. In that condition, computer could not keep accurate sense of crankshaft position. I am amazed it would run at all upon discovery of failure. Distributor to be replaced .

When key is insertrd into the ignition there is power, but it will not start the engine. There is a computer chip on key, which when i went to a chevrolet dealership it could not be copied because we could not get a vats # code and was told the only place to get it was from the original dealership the car came from. In which i cannot locate so the vehicle continues to site unable to be driven.
Starter replaced three times due to vehicle failing to start.dealership claims delco starters were faulty.
Just discovered that all repzairs need on my car since i purchased it matches all recalls and maybe is why several auto repair shops including manuf dealership refused reepairs to my vehicle over the past years.i seekcompensation and repairs and reimbursements and seek punishment against companies defrauding me

I turn the key, nothing happens, and when i put in gas, it just runs out the line, and when i went to change my oil, i had no dip stick, and it turned out that it had no engine also, ha ha ha, i felt so dumb, it was a parts car for my drag car, that is so dumb.
The engine cuts off when the vehicle is decelerating or stopping at a light or stop sign. Dealer has not seen vehicle.
Have an 1986 camaro with a 1991 engine and the engine has had to be rebuilt. Please explain.tt

This problem was covered under a recall but my vehicle was not covered even though it has the exact same problems the recall describes. I have heard from quite a few people who have had this same complaint of not being covered. And yes i have told them to come here to enter the information. The fumes can almost overcome you at times but at times are hardly noticeable but i believe it definitely needs to be corrected anyway. If some vehicles are covered and some aren't but some have the same problem wouldn't that be reason enough to expand the recall. I hope so. All help on this would be greatly appreciated and i would like to thank you in advance for the opportunity to voice my opinion and submit this information. Thanks again.
Brake lights block view of cars behind driver, 60 to 80 precent loss of sight. When brakes applied at 55, front wheels pulled to the left and right, almost causing acollision.
Headlight failure; while driving at night and switching from bright lights to dim,visibility is affected and could cause an accident. Also, cruise control fails when using the blinker, causing vehicle to slow down rapidly.
There is a strong odor of gas coming from my 1991 camaro.after doing research into the problem, i became aware of a recall (#92c36) for this vehicle covering the fuel filler neck/tank soldier joint(may 24, 1994).i went to palm chevrolet and called chevrolet customer service, only to be told that "no vehicle identification number or associated open campaign information matching my vin was found."i asked if the work was done to this car and they said they could not tell me since they only keep records for 10 years.the# is .i know this is an expensive repair and also it makes the car very unsafe to use as well as releasing fumes inside of the attached garage which would be considered unhealthy.my question to you is what recourse do i have to get this problem addressed, or should i hire an attorney?
Hello,my camaro has had a gas leak from the gas tank/filler neck for several years now. About three years ago, i went to the chevrolet dealer and they recognized that it had a problem, but couldn't figure out how to fix it under the old recall that 'appears' to have expired. However, this is a safety issue. The contact owns a 1991 chevrolet camaro. The contact stated that while turning on the ignition, he smelled vapors and fumes emitting from the rear end of the vehicle. The contact found recall 94v077000 (fuel system, gasoline, storage, tank assembly, filler pipe and cap) which he believed was directly related to the failure. The vehicle had not been inspected when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 189,000.
Fuel injector leak.

In 1994 we took our 1991 camaro to brack rowe chevrolet for a recall on the gas tank filler neck.there was no problem then, the recall # was 92c36.in 1995 we noticed a faint gas odor in the car after filling up.the problem has gotten much worse, now gas leaks from the tank onto the exhaust pipe.chevrolet says they have no open recalls on my vehicle and that it has too many miles on it for them to fix.this is a serious safety issue in that gas is leaking onto the exhaust pipe.the bill i got for the recall says "completed recall - inspected - no further work required."does this mean that chevrolet is not liable for their faulty work because they inspected my car one time?

The original soldering of the filler pipe broke causing the the brackets to fail and collapse on the side of the vehicle. This may cause a gas leak.

A fuel smell emanated from the vehicle while filling up at the gas station.driver felt the smell while driving,and drove vehicle to the dealer.mechanic determined that the welds needed to be replaced inside of the filler neck.
Fuel is leaking from the filler neck ever since i bought the car over two years ago.the car smells like fuel around the gas tank, and you can see gas running down the side of the tank from the filler neck.if the car is put in a garage, the garage will smell strongly of gasoline.this seems like a safety hazard.

The contact owns a 1991 chevrolet camaro. Whenever fuel was added to the vehicle there was a leak coming from the fuel tank. The dealer stated that the vehicle was too old for them to lookup the vin. The manufacturer was called and stated that the vin was not included in the recall; nhtsa#94v077000; component: fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap. The manufacturer offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 101,000.
Under campaign 94v077000, received notice in 1994, brought into dealer for inspection, found no leaks,smelled fumes and loss of fuel pressure, private garage discovered after removing fuel tank, pin hole leaking fuel filler neck joint. Manufacturer won't fix it.( 94v-007).

I noticed that when this car was filled, fuel would leak from the tank right where the filler tube goes in.i also could hear a rattle in the rear while driving.i pulled the fuel tank to have it sent out for repair.after further inspection i realized that the rattle was coming from the loose baffles in the tank and that the loose filler neck rattled against the internal baffles also.i felt that soldering the joint would be a quick fix, but because of the looseness, it would only leak again in time.at this point i decided to just replace the tank(and fuel pump).i went on the internet to shop for prices.while using '1991camaro fuel tank' as search words, i found out about the recall.when i questioned a local chevrolet dealer with my vin # they said it was not included in the campaign.i called chevrolet customer service with the same results.it seemed odd that everywhere i looked on the internet there was information that said my car was involved, yet they said there was no recall on my car.i have already ordered a new tank and pump from chevrolet.this is my son's car and i want it in good running order because he leaves in 2 weeks for college. So, with or without knowledge of the recall the repair needs to be done. I feel i should at least get reimbursed for the cost of the tank.*ph

When the vehicle was in park with indicator lights on, the vehicle started rolling. Dealer contacted, mechanic stated the shift cable had broken. 1992 models have been recalled for this problem.

Vehile rear axle was serviced for excessive grinding noise.bearings replaced. 6 months later (approx 5000 miles) right rear wheel, and axle shaft departed the vehicle intact. Dealer claims posi failure due to "abuse" caused the separation.
I was hit in the rear by a car going appox. 20-25 mph the pass. Seat belt not only did not hold but it broke out of the seat my belt retractor on the driver side didnt stop me from hitting the steering wheel my husband was in the passenger.seat his did not stop him and completely pulled loose from seat he has neck injuries.

This vehicle has been seen by 3 different dealerships for paint delamination.all have recongnized it is "defective primer". When first taken in to frank parra chevrolet the car was at that time one month out of warranty.gm customer service was contacted both in troy, mi and by 800#. A good will policy was mentioned to me, but denied because it was out of warranty.this paint is chipping off the roof,hood,back lid & sides. More chips away from rain and washing.this car has always been garage kept.

The paint started to peel on the hood and has also started on the trunk plus on the tail of the trunk there is no more paint i have been told by others of the same problem and have gone to the dealer and was told that there is no call back but from others i have been told that a bad primer was the problem on my year camaro and i had called gmc to inquire of this i asked if a resp. Could come and look at the car and was told that was not possible i am ver y upset about this due to paying a lot of money for my car and always taking care of it i am digusted with how it looks and have even offered gmc to pay for half of the cost to repaint the hood and trunk i am ashame to drive the car when people stop me at my place of business and ask what has happened to your car, i have always taken excellent pride in the appearence of how my car looked and think this is very unfair that the company and or dealer won't do anything for me. And that is about all i have to say i hope that someone will listen to me and maybe will help me to resolve this problem or point me in the right direction at the least.

I have had rejections for safety inspection stickers anually for a number of consecutive years because the brake light built into this 1991 camaro rear glass is made of heat reactive plastic which melts when the brakes are held for long periods (like traffic jams). The dealer will gladly sell the owner a new one for a considerable sum. But, it is made of the same heat reactive plastic and does not have ventilation to disapate the heat...like the one already on the car. This problem affects any year of this design, surely including the '92's as well. It is not possible to easily determine when the failure occurs. One usually finds out at inspection time or by being ticketed by the police. The inspection worker told me that almost every vehicle like mine fails this one particular inspection requirement due to its design. Can the nhtsa investigate and if found valid, require gm to provide a solution for this poor design? many other plastic components in this vehicle suffer a premature failure due to the poor quality. However, this is the only one that adversely affects safety. I can be reached by cell phone as well as the number already provided. The cell phone is (225)907-5911. One other complaint is the windshield wipers. They failed intermittently after the second year. Eventually, i replaced the motor with one from a parts store at my expense and cured the problem. Have there been other complaints regarding this?
