My daughter missed a curve in heavy fog and hit a tree head on at about 40-45 mph.the driver side airbag failed to deploy.the impact was a few inches left of center and was such that it moved the engine block back into the cab of the pickup.it should have deployed.

Tailgate cables rust and will break without warning!!!

I have a 2001 chevrolet silverado 1500 and the tailgate straps broke while i was standing on the tailgate.upon further investigation, it became obvious that both cables had corroded to the point of failure.i presented this to my local dealer and they were happy to sell my replacement parts and wish me the best of luck.this is unacceptable as the replacement parts are no better than the original parts.i am going to have to replace these every other year at $100/set.

Tailgate cables rust and will break without warning!!!

Chevy trucks with 4 wheel disc brakes. The emergency brake not working. There has been no recall about this, butt all the dealerships know about it. Myself and my father was told that the emergency brake will quit working if you do not use it every time you park. It costs $200.00 to have fixed. Good way to get a lot of people hurt by this.

The seat belt design prevents tall individuals from being able to properly buckle the front seat belt, the belt can not be adjusted to eliminate the pressure of the seat belt into the driver/passenger's collar bone.nlm

Tailgate cables rust and will break without warning!!!

Was looking to park in a super market and when i slowed to turn in and pressed the brake pedal it vibrated and actually attempted to speed up slightly. Took it to the dealer and they said it was because the stainless steel rotors had rust on them and the sensor wasn't working right. Polished them and it was good for a year or so. The next thing about a year later i got a recall for the same thing from the manufacturer. They had to do the same process. They did reimburse me from the first time it happened.

Abs brakes constantly come on at low speeds.today when i brought it to the dealer abs came on as i was slowing , then brake pedal stiffened and would not stop the truck.i pulled on the emergency brake to stop.

Anti-lock brakes on my 2001 chevrolet silverado engage when at slow speeds.i pulled the fuse on the anti-lock brakes until i can get fixed.

I own a 2001 chevy silverado extended cab 4x4,there was a recall around 2005 for the abs engaging at slow speeds.the service was completed in 2006.about 6 months ago, the abs started doing it again.the dealer said they already did the recall service so i need to pay for the repairs this time.i believe that if the original recall service didn't fix the problem, that it should be fixed again.truck has around 104,000 miles on it.the abs started working improperly at about 100,000 miles.i have had no crashes yet because of this.

The brakes on my 2001 chevrolet silverado went into anit-lock brake mode as i was making a stop on dry pavement coming just short of smashing into a garbage truck. I contacted chevrolet and was told no recalls on my vehicle since it is not located in canada or some states listed in the us.they have said it is a recall on failing anti-lock sensors that have rust from salt, but minnesota is not one of the states.we don't use salt on roads up here during the winter? what a joke.

2001 chevrolet 1500 ext. Cab 4wd truckabs system activates at low speed.the incident occured in a parking lot as the truck was pulling into a parking space.the abs system activiated and there was a complete loss of breaking power.the truck hit the car in the parking space opposite the truck.upon inspection of the truck, the front rotors were almost completely absent of a usable wear surface on the inside of the rotor, the external side of the rotor did not exhibit the same probelm.new rotors were installed with new pads at owner's expense.abs activation at low speed then still occurred.i purchased a subscription for the alldata website to retreive applicable service bulletins.the service bulletin lists the wheel speed sensor as the possible fault.upon examination, the sensor also had the same rust problem as the rotor. The sensers will also be replaced a owner's expense ($110/per sensor).the was no mention of any rotor problems in the bulletin. A 2001 vehicle with 85,000 miles should not have the rotor damage that existed.i have saved the rotors as an example.also, the abs activation's complete lack of breaking power, beyond what is expected in normal abs activation circumstances, make me luckly to have hit another vehicle and not a person.

2001 chevy p/u. Previous recall regarding antilock breaking system engaging on dry payment is re-occuring after initial vehicle repair.in my opinnion this is a serious problem and has the potential to cause an accident.dealer probably did minimal repair (temporary fix) which did not address the problem correctly.

All four brakes, rotors steel flaking off causing deep pits which have degraded braking performance. Rotors are warped as well. I will have to replace all four rotors and all brake pads. Vehicle has only 27k miles and is only two years old.

Intermediate steering column shaft - constant clunking noise.had serviced at 21k miles and now bad again at 43k miles.supposedly safe per dealer, just an annoyance.but it could duplicate/mask a similar clunking noise which could be suspension related and unsafe.a driver would assume it was the steering issue but in reality it may not be, potentially leading to loss of control/accident.

Power steering pump failure.shaft broke on pump causing loss of steering and brakes.

The stud coming out of the ball joint of the tie rod snapped at the ball joint.dt

Checked intermediate shaft on the steering. It was rattlin . The shop said they would grease it .they were askedif it would be ok they said yes. Now that it is out of regular warraty . The soay it should be changed. Their are other people complaining about this also. It ona2001 chevy pckup. I just was wondering if it is a safety hazard. Also it is like gm. Is wating till the warranty runs out.

I was loading my 2001 chevy silverado z71.when both tail gate supports broke.i fell out of the back of my truck on my headluckily i was just scratched up but my truck was not as lucky i have 1,000 dollars worth of damage.*la

I run a car dealership and i want to file a complaint about the two cables on chevrolet full size pickups that secure the tailgate on 99-02 models. I have seen hundreds of these trucks where the cables have failed and broke. There is no way that those cables are strong enough to keep from breaking with a little added weight such as a child or an adult. They are as dangerous of a design as i have ever seen. Plus, i am tired of paying for these cables on every truck that comes in to my lot for resale. They are way to expensive to replace. A cable that should cost $4 or $5 cost over $30. Gm is getting rich on the replacement parts of these cables and they know it. Something needs to be done about this and if you investigate this matter i am 100% sure you will agree too.

Whenevervehicle goes over a bump itwill bounce all over the road.consumer took vehicle in on august 6,2001 to get shock absorbers put on. On august 8, 2001 shockabsorbers were still not on.

Rear tires are wearing out excessively due to over inflation. Owner maintained correct air pressure according to manual.

I am an automatic car wash owner.i have tried to engage the area service representative from chevrolet to meet with me, but this person has yet to agree to personally discuss their (in my opinion) engineering defect with me.2000 through 2004 suv's with manually folding mirrors come apart by merely folding them in preparation for going through my wash.i have found that apivot shaft retaining fastener unloads itself of the spring pressure during the folding-in process causing the vehicle owner a safety issue of a non-viewable side mirror despite the fact that the mirror is engineered to be folded in and out to go through car washes.
