I was involved in a head on collision with another vehicle, a larger gmc dually. I was traveling at 55 mph when the other vehicle entered my lane at near or equal speed and struck me head on. I had time to react by stomping the brakes but i seemed to not slow down. I had no where to turn all possible lanes of avoidance were blocked with smaller cars. The airbags did not deploy... It is my understanding that by law cars/light trucks are required by law to have airbags if they are 1998 or newer. I understand a light truck to be up to 8,600 lbs gross weight with payload. This standard includes my truck, i sustained sever injuries to my neck/chest and ruptured discs in my back resulting in emergency back surgery. If i had airbags i am sure my injuries would not have been nearly as server and i my have not lost so much. Someone is responsible for this and i would appreciate any and all assistance you can offer me.thank you

Have a 2000 chevy silverado z71 started having problems with unwanted antilock brake activation at low speed brake applications which resulted in several close calls. Contacted dealer after finding recall #05v379000 which has limited recall to so called "salt belt" states. Told dealer that i have traveled frequently through salt belt states and his reply was the recall did not effect me and there was nothing they could do. But it is same problem listed in recall. Also told me that there is recall on airbag sensor for my vehicle" 02v178000" but my vehicle would not have recall performed because of mileage.

Since the first time i took truck back for service i complained about a knocking noise. I was told that yes there was a noise but it was ok . Since then i have tried to sell the truck but due to the noise no one purchased. *la

Fuel gauge intermittent short in wiring at sending unit. Received recall notice about possible short causing explosion hazard. Contacted [xxx] chev. In hoover, al. And was told i was over mileage limit for recall. Does that mean it won't explode after 75,000 miles? i paid $916.00 for repairs. This sucks.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The fuel gauge on my 2000 silverado does not work. Evidently, there is a problem with the sensor in the tank reacting to theadditives in the gasoline. This braks the sensor down and causes the fuel filter to clog and to make the pump work harder and fail. I know of 5 or 6 people in my circle of friends and co-workers who have experienced this problem.i appreciate any help, like i said i know of quite few people with this problem who would love to take gm down on this. Please contact me with any info, thanks again, bob. Damage resulting = huge cost, over $700.00 at a gm dealer.possible engine failure as fuel filter clogs and fule pump fails.

1st.- problem with brake booster, causing a major vaccum leak causing vehicle to surge and stall when acclerating on take-off. Eventually engine would cut-off. After a lot of effort, dealer repaired that problem. 2nd.- 3/4 ton truck, hd towing package, everything supposed to be heavy duty according to salesperson and sticker in window. Brake pads on front are for a 1/2 ton, light duty truck.vehicle does not stop very well, at times, brake pedal goes to floor with little stopping effect. Dealer was notified during 1st. Problem encounter.dealer made no effort to explain or correct problem. Problem still exist.3rd.- transmission malfunctioniong. I have had two transmission repair shops inspect vehicle, both said that problem was common with gm trucks.vehicle has been plagued with one problem after the other. Dealer has been notified several times, even by certified mail. Gm, or at least it's dealers neglected to notifiyme about any recalls, even after i inquired. What information i have obtained has been through this website, and local mechanics

Was moving truck into drive way after it had been parked in the street. Upon pulling into the drive way i noticed i had no brakes. Turned truck off and checked under truck to find that there was brake fluid leaking from under the truck by the left rear wheel. Upon calling my mechanic i am told that this is a normal thing with my year truck and that it was being investigated by the nhtsa because of the amount of complaints.oh and also it would cost almost 800.00 dollars to repair because the mechanic will not just replace one line because once one goes they all start to go based on his experience with my year truck. He does this for safety reasons. I have had the car towed to my mechanic to be repaired. Another 94.00 dollars. After again talking to my mechanic he tells me the brake line has corroded.

Rusted thru break lines.

2000 chevrolet silverado 1/2 ton 4wd. 114m.abs activation under 6 mph......... No lockup, no reason. Escalated to total brake loss when this condition starts. Looked on the internet at similar complaints; primarily found: rusted and leaking brakelines, or malfunctioning abs cured by removing the fuse for the abs system.checked for fluid loss, there was none. Checked power booster and master cylinder; found no problems.removed the fuse for the abs, problem fixed, brakes function normally. A brake system should not fail to a condition of no brakes when the abs system malfunctions......... Google this and you will find numerous accidents/loss of vehicle control.

When applying brakes the abs system kicks in and then releases when the brake system is needed the most. The brake failure happens mostly when the brakes are engaged suddenly or when it is or has rained. The rotors were turned down, new rear brake drums were installed, the system was flushed out, new front brake pads, and rear shoes were installed. It helped a little, but the problem still exists and is only getting worse. The vehicle jerks like the rotors and/or drums are out of round, and they were also turned down twice already. I have removed the fuse for the abs system so i at least have some sort of braking power. My brother inlaws truck was recalled for this problem but mine wasn't. No one around here seems to know how to fix the problem, even the chevrolet dealership couldn't fix it, all they did was adjust the rear brakes and when the drums got hot the brakes locked up. They loosened the adjustment so the brakes wouldn't lock up but the problem still exists. I've had 3 near mishaps trying to stop the vehicle in time.

Brakes fail if they are applied at the same time there is slight bump.dealer said they can't reproduce the issue.

While driving my brake pedal went to the floor board and i had no brakes. The failure was a rusted brake line that ruptured. I queried the service manager at my local chevy dealer and him, along with3 service tech's standing around said it is a known problem and all the brake linesfail after 4 to 6 yearsdue to rust. I asked if there was a recall and found out one does not exist. At present my truck is at the dealers getting repaired. I was able to stop the vehicle by down shifting and applying the ebrake and no accident occurred. When i inspected the lines all the lines were rusted from beginning to end as well as the connector that adjusts the ebrake tension. I think something should be published warning of this failure.

Entering parking space at work when abs system came on for no reason causing vehicle to lunge forward.

While pulling into driveway applied brake pedal andit went to floor, hitting another vehicle. Brake line had blown. Took vehicle to automotive shop, and had it repaired;but, problem still occurs with brake pedal going to floor.

Repeated activation of anti lock braking system at slow speeds when brakes are being activated for normal stopping.braking distance is increased with sensation that vehicle may not stop as normal

I started to get brake peddle vibration at low speed. I pulled into a store parking lot and truck wouldn't stop until it ran into parking bumper. I took it to my dealer and they changed a wheel sensor (paid for by my extended warrenty).

Abs brake system does not work correctly. Brakes do not work at slow speed.

Anti-lock brakes (front) kick indry conditions, when not needed.truck has only 60,000 mi.

When driving and applying brakes to make a normal stop, brake pedal was very hard/brakes failed to respond, causing extended stopping distance, andresulting in an accident.

While pulling into driveway applied brake pedal andit went to floor, hitting another vehicle. Brake line had blown. Took vehicle to automotive shop, and had it repaired;but, problem still occurs with brake pedal going to floor.

-the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet pickup. The contact stated that intermittently he his unable to turn the steering wheel to the right. Lose of steering while driving increases the risk of vehicle crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician advised him that because the warranty expired he would be responsible to pay for the repairs. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 150,000.updated 11/12/09 the consumer stated there were times when the power steering would work and other times when the steering mechanism was not cooperating at all and wanted to steer to the left.updated 11/16/09the consumer stated the lack of power steeing assist has been an issue since 2003. It started as an intermittent problem in the mornings, after sitting overnight.updated 11/17/10

I was driving my 2000 chevrolet pick up (4 wheel drive silverado) when, without any noise or other type of warning the power steering went out. I took the truck to have it repaired and the mechanic said they had done three or for of these. The problem is that the shaft in the power steering pump snaps in half where it has been milled to form the gear. This is very dangerous because it is very difficult to maintain control of the vehicle, because it takes a very strong person to even turn the wheel slightly with no power steering.

Both tailgate support cables snapped upon lowering.*la

Due to the lack of acceleration contol vehicle brakes are under a strain when stopped at a traffic light. Vehicles rpms are exceeding out of control and consumer cannot control engines functions.if brakes were to fail could not stop vehicle.bulletin no:00-06-04-007 from alldata date 02/2000 states problem and awareness from gm. Gm needs to recall vehicle due to safety issue.models:1999-2000 chevrolet and gmc c/k pick up models (silverado and sierra) with 4.8l,5.3l,or6.0l v8 engine (vins v,t,u-rpos lr4.lm7,lq4).

Accelerator pedal requires excessive effort to move. This has resulted in several near accidents when my vehicle lurched forward upon the pedal un-sticking. Most recent incident involved my wife, un-familier with the problem, having to stomp on the pedal while in heavy traffic on a rainy day. The result of the pedal un-sticking was that the vehicle lurched forward towards another vehicle. My wife barely avoided hitting another vehicle but only by swerving off of the road and into a ditch. Our 6 year old son and 6 month old daughter was in the vehicle at the time.
