Did not have an accident but my passinger side air bag sensor mounted onthe frame rusted off and was hanging by the wires i went to replace it but dealer discontinued this very important part and auto part stores tell me its a dealer part go figure, my vehicle is in great shape and has a long time before its ready for the junk yard and that being said there are still alot of them on the road but unfortunatly i cannot find this part any where. I have a safety concern because now my air bag light is on and no longer have a functioning air bag what do i do, and not to mention but next year when i go to get my inspection sticker my vehicle will fail and i will not be able to drive it any more what do i do? pls help.

I had a chevrolet pickup 1500 with the turbo 6.5 diesel engine. I had problems with it from day one. I would be going down the road and the engine would shut off and turn on by itself. When i told mechanics, they laughed at me. Chevrolet told me it was the fuel injector, i changed it,didn't make a difference. Then no codes would come up when on the tech's computer, even when automobile repeated problem. It was assumed on many occasions what it was and at my expense i changed many parts that never made a difference. I was told that it was probably the wiring harness, but could not be gaurenteed because no code came up. This would have made it an electrical problem. I could not afford to keep spending money. I'ma single parent and this truck was how i made my living.(i haul oilfield equipment). Well the truck stalled on me and would not start. Before i could have it towed back home, it burned. According to the investigation, cause was undetermined. Now, it could be 2 things, i did try and go start it again that nite, and something happened and it caught fire, or it was vandalized. Either could have been prevented had my truck been fixed. I have all my repair reciepts not to mention a substantial amount of people that can back up my claim on how much i put into fixing this truck. It was a wonderful truck and ran beautifully when it ran! this unfortunate incident hasnot only cost me my vehicle but my lively hood! i' m dealing with chevrolet, but i've been told to take it up with the insurance company!? all the insurance company is doing is paying some of it off, with the miles i had on it, i still have a balance on it after they pay! so not only am i without a vehicle, i'm still paying on it.

In july 1998 i had an electrical fire while on the interstate.the smoke was so intense i had to roll down the window and hold my head out in order to see the road and stop the vehicle. This could have caused a crash.i lost the use of my driver side electrical seat motors and the automatic door locks. Hampton roads battery in hampton virginia (auto electrical shop) diagnosed the cause.cause: the driver seats has a spring support system which allows the seat to travel up and down. Apparently when a person is sitting in the driver seat this seat travel touches this wire.after three years of driving this contact eroded the wire protection covering causing an electrical short.the truck electrical system has automatic resetting circuit breakers.each time the seat caused a short, the circuit would heat up and short and then reset.this process continues until the electrical wiring got so hot is caused a fire in the wiring harness under the dash.if you want more detail please fill free to.

The low med don't work on my z-71 off road s it blows ho at alltimes.

Engine failure.

I bought my truck (chevy with an 6.5l diesel) used in 2000 with 106,250 miles.i received a letter from gm about a problem with the electronic fuel injection pump.the letter explained that gm had extended the warranty on the fuel injection pump to 11 years or 120,000 miles.in january of 2001, my truck (with 113,200 miles) started to experience an engine stalling problem.i took my truck to the dealer and they said that my truck did not have electronic fuel injection problem.they want to dismantle the top portion of my engine to check for the problem.i then took my truck to a stanadyne service center to be checked for a fuel injection pump failure problem.stanadyne is the manufacturer of the fuel injection pump.the stanadyne service center replaced my fuel injection pump and the engine stalling problem stopped.i took my receipt to the chevy dealer and asked for the service manager.i explained the situation to the service manager and he said that they would review the claim and get back to me.a few days later, i received a check in the mail from the dealer for full reimbursement of the fuel injection pump replacement.i did not have any engine stalling problem until september of 2003.my truck now has 140,000 miles on it and is not covered under the extended gm warranty.my truck engine is stalling again and i took it back the stanadyne service center and they said that a sensor in the pump has failed and the pump must be replaced for a second time.however, i think that the fuel injection pump was replaced at least once before i bought this truck.this will be the 4th electronic fuel injection pump for this truck.the repeated engine stalling is a safety issue.the engine will stall at any time without warning.without the engine, the vehicle loses power brakes and steering.i have been fortunate enough to get the vehicle to the side of the highway or restarted quickly.

I have a 1995 chevrolet c/k 1500 id #[xxx] and my passenger chair is coming apart, slipping back and forward on it's own. Front bucket seat bracket broke creating a seat that moves back and forth.i contacted the dealer and they told me at the time that it wasn't a warranty item and that i would have to repair at my expense.i have just read some consumer reports and read this same issue on the same 1995 1500 chevy pickups.

Seat latch failed causing the seat back to collapse.

Driving at approximately 10 mph driver's seatback broke, causing consumer to fall back unexpectedly. Dealer replaced frame once, but defect reoccurred.

Over the past several years we have had problems with the abs brakes on our 1995 silverado pickup.on a slow stop such as a light or stop sign, it very often will not stop at first.we have had them checked and all the sensors have been replaced, but it seems to be getting more frequent.i have read the recall on the 1999-2002 gm trucks for the abs salt corrosion problem and it sounds like ours has the same problem.i put the incident date as today, however this is an ongoing problem we have had for several years.

Rear brake lines corrided.

While returning from nashville tennessee on interstate 65 to my home in somerville alabama the sterring wheel locked up for a second. This is very scarry at 70 mph. It happened a second time and after that all i could think about was it going to happen again and would it break free after a second or would it stay locked up.

The paint on this vehicle does not stick to the primer, causing the paint to flake off and no longer protect the metal from the elements, causing rust to form on the body. This vehicle will have to be repainted to prevent the body from rusting away.

Driver side outside door handle broke, causing the consumer not to open the door from inside. Dealer fixed the door before, and the problem has returned.

Windshield wipers work when they want . Turn them on and they may work ,then stop as you drive, sometimes they go to intermittent mode when they want or stop completely you have to pull off the road and manually pull on them to get them started , this works for a mile or so then they stop again on their own.

Well my whole family has owned this truck and it was passed down to me i drive it all the time and i have put it in the ditch due to my window wipers work when they want and on the hwy all the salt builds up and i cant see the road.

The consumer stated the front windshield "rippled", significantly which reduced visibility when driving.

1995 chevrolet ck truck repairs were made before recall notice was received, manufacturer refuses to reimburse.the wiper motor failed prior to recall notification.the consumer didn't retain the receipt therefore the manufacturer refused to reimburse the consumer for the repair.

Dt: the contact owns a 1995 chevrolet c/k pickups. He states that in 2002 while in florida windshieldwiper motor stopped workinghad the electrical plate replaced because that was what the dealership stated the problem was. The dealership told him that he would have to wait for 5 days before they could put the plate on. So he went to the parts department and he sold him one for $50, and he put it on himself.after the warranty was up consumer thought it was between 30-90 days . Later he received a recall letter since he threw the receipt away he went back to the dealership ,to see if they would print him up another one. They said they could not do that. So he called gm, and they called the dealership . They would not print up a receipt for them either so they told him to get a part number from the plate. He went out and looked there was no part number or no place to put a part number. Sogm stated that without the part number or the receipt they could not do reimbursement. The recall nhtsa campaign id number is 03v159000.

Defective wiper operation on chevrolet p/u has caused dangerous situations in rain. This vehicle is on recall for the most part, except for certain ones including mine. I and my family have experienced wiper failure with this vehicle. I will have to fix it myself even though the majority are on recall for the exact same problem.
