Determined to be a defective turn signal-multifunction switch. Researched the numerous complaints and saw that there was a recall for this problem but according to the dealer my vehicle does not fit it to the recall. Multi function switch in my 2001 chevy blazer that controls the hazard lights and the brake lights is on a recall.my blazer does not match any of the vin # that are listed even thought i have the exact yr and problem with the car.

Electrical problems and door problems - i bought my blazer when it was 2 years old with 8300 miles on it.with about 13000 miles on it the vehicle would not stay running and the battery gauge was under 9.i got the vehicle started and drove to the dealership.they replaced the alternator.they would not cover a loaner or rental since i was able to drive the car to the dealership.if i would have had it towed they would have covered a rental.2 weeks later same problem repeated. Brought it back to dealership and they found the ground wire off the alternator was not properly tightened to the engine block. Again they would not cover a rental car since the car was driveable. That fixed the problem.with about 17000 miles on it and 2 1/2 years old noticed rattling noise coming from drivers side front. Noticed that the drivers side front door was sagging.brought vehicle to dealership and again they would not pay for a rental or loaner. Problem diagnosed as door needing new bushing and center pins for the hinges.they had to order the parts and i had to bring vehicle back.again they would not pay for a rental or give me a loaner. I had a 1/2 hour discussion with service director for the dealership and finally gave me a loaner. I called chevy about the problem with the doors and they don't find that out of the ordinary for the vehicle to need new pins and bushings with only 17500 miles on it.the 3/36000 warranty is up in two months and i will be getting rid of the vehicle before the warranty is up before something else breaks on it.i will never buy another gm vehicle!!

Multi-function switch failure.*la

The following failed all at the same time on my 2001 blazer: cruise control , right turn signal failure, and brake lights remained bright at all times, upon turning off and removing key from vehicle all electronics/lights/etc. Power on whenever brake pedal was depressed. I have a 2001 blazer that keeps popping up a check engine light codes.i.e p0301,p0753,p0756,p0758. I have had these parts replaced twice in the last few months. Mechanic said it was related to the electrical system. The codes come back after driving for about 100 miles.

Lost dash light and gauges.

I was in a drive through which looped around the building. I applied the brake to stop at the window and could feel the abs engage and the vehicle did not want to stop. It scared me and of course i reapplied the brake quickly, to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me, and i was finally able to stop. This happened again a few weeks later at a large intersection at a red light. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and was pretty scared. I have heard several of these complaints and i know that the brakes on every year before this were recalled.i also had trouble with the brake lights and four-ways, which stopped working. I was driving and the four ways came on. I had to pull over and ended up holding the button down while i drove in order for them to stop flashing. Shortly after the turn signals stopped working. Finally, the speedometer temporarily stopped working, then shortly after that, the heat stopped working, the vehicle only blowing cold air. We replaced the thermostat but the heat still would not function.i ended up getting rid of the vehicle because of the numerous malfunctions.

Some imes car will not start battery to 9 amp ,battery checked okay alternator checked okay. Car in shop started okay 4 or 5 time 14 ampsset 30 miebattery to 9 amps no start checked overcharged and do same thing. Nothing left on. All electrical ckecked okay.

My wife and i bought our '01 chevy blazer used in 04/05. From the start we had a hard time getting it to engage/disengage 4wd. This last winter my wife, the primary driver, complained that the vehicle had no power while coming home one night and the weeknights following for a week. I checked in the mornings it was fine. Pretty soon we both started noticing the gas gauge bouncing around like it was dancing. My wife thinking she was running out of gas would pull into the first gas station. She would fill up and leave the station only to have it happen again after pulling away from the pump. One month later, her and our 3 small children got stranded when they went in to convenience store. A minute later the blazer had died and the key in the on position. Replaced the fuel filter and then the fuel pump ($350 just for the pump!!!) the heating element in the pump had fried it. 04/06 the abs failed and she almost hit a pedestrian. 2 weeks later we start hearing this popping noise when slowing/stopping and accelerating. 05/06 the battery died on her with no warning. Tried jumping it and it wouldn't hold a charge. Got that replaced. Then in 08/06 we didn't drive it because the plates had expired and we couldn't afford to replace them yet. Finally i drove it on 08/13/06 for 1 mle to the store and on my way back while stopping at the stop sign 2 blks from my house, i heard this loud clunk noise and then the vehicle started whinning. Now the thing won't move. It starts and whines, but won't move. Transmission is shot and is going to cost $1600 to replace with me doing the work. And so now, like 90% of the country, i am making a very high car payment except mine is on a car that i can not drive.this and other web sites about vehicle recalls prove that there are some serious issues with these vehicles and nothing is being done about it. What needs to happen is for some one to die b/c of these defects and then u will be scrambling to correct the problems. This is ridiculous.

Battery leaks acid onto the engine compartment. Asa result, while driving 65 mph, vehicle shut off.

Our 2001 chevrolet blaze caught on fire while parked about 5 minutes after being turned off.the entire engine and front end are scorched.the interior has smoke and water damage.at this time, we have not heard from our insurance adjuster to know the extent - totalled or repairable? the vehicle had been to the dealer one week prior because the rear tailgate wouldn't open.they replaced the actuator and don't believe their work was in any way related to the fire.we purchased the vehicle from the dealer 10 months ago - it had 31,000 miles on it and we only put 5,000 miles on it.i have filed a complaint with gm and believe that they should be responsible and pay out on the loss - not our insurance company.

Gas gauge goes to empty and "low fuel" light comes on at anytime while driving, stays on for several seconds to several minutes and then gauge goes back to correct reading and light goes out.after several weeks of this "service engine soon" light came on.personal technician reported that this is a common problem in vehicles of all brands and related to, the gas cap.advised to turn gas cap for at least 3 clicks when done fueling and not to take the cap off the tank when the motor is running. Replaced gas cap and reset the computer, it was fine for 2 weeks.gauge acting up again, mechanic going to pull tank and check if a lose baffle is interfering with the sending unit.may have to replace sending unit.*la

Brake lights will not work when applying brakes.bulbs and fuses are all ok, hazard flasher when flashing causes an electrical static sound under dash and when wiggling the hazard flasher switch, brake lights will work and come on. I also own a 1996 chevrolet blazer that had the same problem and was repaired at bob hook chevrolet09/07/99 invoice no. 156312. Very little chance that i own two of the same vehicles five years apart and same defect happens to both. This is a serious safety problem that needs to be recalled before accidents occur because the vehicle behind didn't see vehicle in front stop. I am not only concerned about my family being safe but for the safety of others! why would the dealer service shop tell me that the part will have to be ordered and there is a national back order on that part but to continue to drive the vehicle? i have contacted gm. And filed a complaint # c05965366 and they said; we will do the best we can to get the part shipped. Please help get this defect recalled so potential accidents can be avoid.

I have reviewed other owners complaints regarding their front suspension, fuel pump with random shut offs. My vehicle is experiencing the same and similar problems. As of today my vehicle is in the shop;i was doing 35-40 mph when vehicle just un expectedly shut off. I was stranded on a major road which cause a significant traffic delay. I have an oil leak from the hose leading to my oil filter and the vehicle pull to the right sharply if i release the steering wheel. The vehicle makes a popping sound when turning. These problems are hard to find just an isolated incident when so many consumers are having the same problems. *nlm

The electric smog pump on my 2001 chevy blazer had failed when pump filled with water and shorted out.this is caused due to the short intake hose to the pump.this is an apparent known issue with gm, but they will not replace the pump.this also causes the vehicle to fail emissions testing.gm wanted $400 for the pump + labor to repair the issue.once the part became available for 3rd party vendors, we were able to replace the pump ourselves, added a longer intake hose, and the vehicle now runs correctly.i feel that since gm is aware of this issue and it adversely effects the emission control of the vehicle, the repair should be gm's responsibility.

Gets a p0140 dtcsecondary air pump.air pump is corroded and shaft won't turn.maxifuse blows.

There is an error code in teh computer p0410 the secondary injector needs to be replaced again and again, it was covered under warranty the first time. Then wemovedto massachusetts and the light came on again which i then got it fixed and paid for it on my own because it wasn't under warranty, and the light came on again with teh same code p0410 the secondary air injector. I haven't been abel to get the vehicle inspecteddue to teh error code becuase it caused an emmsisions failure. The second time cost me $400, i've looked on the internet only to find that many other poeple have the same problem and no recall has been issued as of yet. I have contacted chevrolet aboutthe problem, which to no avail they would not cover the part orany cost of a new one. The vehiclewas still not inspected nor will ever be because replacing the part apperentlywasn'tthe problem. Is there anything the nhtsa could do in this situation?

I purchased a used 2001 chevrolet blazer last march. I had the vehicle for 1 month and the service engine soon light came on. I took it to the garage and they said i needed an air intake box. I was able to get a used one. After one year i am back to the same situation. This air intake box that was another vehicle had the same problem. When removed the box contains alot of condensation. The service garage does not know why this happens. The condensation i am sure is whats causing the box to fail. I would like this investigated to see if this is a recall.

I purchased my vehicle in 4/01 and seven months later i began experiencing a host of problems with my vehicle, starting with multifunction switch worn, then hood hinges worn, exhaust (muffler broken) right speaker inoperable, left front seat adjuster broken, grill assembly loose, brake pedal brokenand finally transmission failure (needs replacing).i have done a bit of inquiring to other chevy blazer owners and found out that they have or had experience some if not all of the same problems that i am experiencing now.i am hereby respectfully requesting your assistance in rectifying this complaint.i don't think that after 11mths of purchasing my vehicle i should be needing my transmission replace.from passed experienced with replacing a transmission on my wife new vehicle (mazda mx3) back in 1992 it has never been the same. Wehad been having the same problems and more with it.we were able to actually get another vehicle and the same problem keep occuring .after that long and tiring experience with my wife's car i now that this won't be no different.i have purchased a lemon and i need to know what recourse i can take to insure that i would not be stuck with a vehicle that would be costing me more to have it constantly fixed and replace.i thank you for your help and assistance in this long and tiring ordeal.i anxiously await hearing from you.respectfully yours.

On feb 4th, 2004 the service engine light came on so i took the blazer to the dealership(bert greenwald) to find out what was going on. I was told that the "air line & valve air pump assembly needed to be replaced. It's now may 4th, 2004 and i am still waiting for the part to come in. Each time i inquire about it, i am told that general motors doesnt want them to order the part until they come up with a plan to deal with this problem since it seems to be occurring very frequently. I feel that 3 months is to long to be waiting for feedback on this even though the dealership has said they not charging me to replace the part.

The gas pedal hangs up on the floor carpet (the wear strip integrated into the carpet that is under the gas pedal and wraps up along the side of the transmission tunnel) when the gas pedal is pressed all the way to the floor.the shaft that the gas pedal is attached to has part of it sticking out past the gas pedal and has a sharp edge that snags the edge of the wear strip.the carpet is not worn, it is in great shape, and is only getting damaged when the gas pedal snags the carpet wear strip. It has happened about a dozen times in the past 5 years.i contacted chevrolet dealer and they never got back to me five years ago.in april 2010, it happened on a city street when i hit the gas to take evasive action to get away from another car that almost hit me in the side and the gas pedal stuck and i almost hit another car and a building.i contacted the chevrolet dealer in sallisaw oklahoma, and they referred me to the chevrolet hot-line for complaints. I contacted them and waited a week for them to get back to me like they said they would, and i contacted them again and they said that they would contact me within two weeks, and it has been another week past that time.i am afraid that maybe next time i wont be able to reach down and yank the pedal up where it is snagged on the carpet.

Both front doors strikers are broken off of the frame.no rust .no wrecks.

2001 chevrolet blazer: brake lights stayed on while vehicle was parked and off. Hazard lights did not work. Turn signals did not work. Engine ran while ignition was off. Noticeable amount of smoke came from steering column. There was a recall (01v364) for a faulty multi function switch, dealer said they performed it already. Dealership diagnosed problem and said the same multi function switch needed to be replaced again.

Multi function switch in my 2001 chevy blazer that controls the hazard lights and the brake lights is on a recall.my blazer does not match any of the vin # that are listed even thought i have the exact yr and problem with the car.

Rear lights do not brighten when braking, took it to dealer. Dealer says there was a recall and it was done already to my 2001 blazer, but i never had taken it in for that problem was going to charged 500 dollars just to redo it. I had bought the blazer new from a dealer.

The brake lights in the back of my 01 chevy blazer go out from time to time. We got the recall info from chevy and took itto the dealer. Chevy said they fix the problem before we had the car thus they are off the hook for any liability. We bought the car used with only 20,000 miles and the problem still is occurring with the car. The cost to fix this problem is close to 1000 dollars and i feel that the problem is still occurring even though the manufacturer said they fixed it. I feel that chevy should still fix this problem because it's obvious it wasn't done right on the first attempt and more importantly it's a very dangerous situation.

My 2001 blazer's brake lights stopped working during a recent drive, and another driver was kind enough to point this out at a stoplight.the next day the brake lights worked again, but remained on after i shut off the engine.my mechanic was able to determine the problem was the multifunction switch on the steering column.this was a known issue (gm recall number 01073) and gm recalled a number of the same make and model of vehicles, but my blazer's vin was not included in the official recall.

My brake lights are not working, nor my turning signals and hazard lights.took it in, they said its a multi-function switch / turning signal switch.. The cost is 400 dollars.

The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet blazer. The contact stated that while stopped at a light, another motorist informed him that the brake lights were not illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v231000 (exterior lighting:brake lights:switch). After the repairs, the failure occurred a second time. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostics and repair. The contact was not aware of the repairs that were performed, but believed the hazard switch carrier was replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

The center high mounted stop lamp and turn signal functions are not affected.there are more vehicles out there that gm needs to identify for this recall.

Multi function switch experienced the same defect as stated in recall 01v364000; however, this vehicle wa snot included due to vin.

After finding out my 2001 chevy blazer had no brake lights the second time since new, this first went out & was replaced by avenue chevy, batavia on 11/7/2001 w/ only14,790 miles . And not imagining the problem could be the expensive entire turn signal unit again, i asked around, even guys at avenue chevy, batavia, ill. I purchased a brake switch part # 15128745 on 3/4/08 for $14.09 & replaced ny unit but this did not fix the problem. I went back to avenue chevy and on3/11/08 they replaced part # 26100937 multifunction switch for a total of $442.79 ! ! !

We own a 2001 blazer and recently the brake lights are on all the time. Also, the hazard lights and turn signalsdon't work.if you hold the hazard switch part way down and hold it very steady you can get the brake lights and signals to work. I've tried contacting my local dealer, but they tell me this is not covered by any recalls.i will have to replace the entire multi function turn switch.from what i see online, it looks like the 2000 blazer has already had a recall for a hazard switch problem. I would bet the 2001 model is identical.

Brake/abs lights come onthe dash, no abs brakes at all, so now what ???

My hazards and brake lights don't turn on.

I was driving on a road when someone pulled up next to me and told me i didn't have brake lights.only the small top center brake light was working.i was lucky that a stranger told me, i would never have known that they were not functioning.when i called the dealership they said that there was a silent recall.they had 3 other vehicles in that day with the same problem.i feel that this is a major problem because if someone isn't paying complete attention they will not notice that a blazer has stopped until it is too late.i feel that there should be a public recall for this problem.it was a simple fix (it only took part of one day).all they had to do was put in a new turn signal lever.i think that any problem like this should always be a public recall, it is not fair that the manufacturer and dealership knows about a problem and does not tell the consumer.i guess they would have told me had i gotten into an accident.but then it may have been too late. Thank you very much.janet l. Werner.

Brake lights have failed.

The brake and hazard lights do not come on at all making drivers any passengers very unsafe and vulnerable to rear end crashes on the roadway.

While expecting the vehicle noticed that the brake light doesn't appear at all.

I went to have my car inspected when i was informed that i had no brake lights.the station where i got the inspection told me this was not the only gm car they had seen with this problem. They told me they had seen this afew times in thelast month. I went to my dealership and they told me i needed a multi function switch. I called gm to form a complaint because there is no telling how long this had been like this. [xxx] at gm told me that they had failures in this switch and theywere looking for a more dependable source. I couldn't even get a switch for a week because of this . Driving with no brake lights could be a potentially hazardous situation. I'm reporting this so someone doesn't loose their life over thesedefective switches. Please contact me if you need additional information. Thank you, [xxx information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

(1) we own a 2001 blazer. In the past our vehicle has been rear ended twice, my wife suffered a neck injury in the 1st accident. The 2nd accident just happened about a month or so ago.(2) 2-19-2005 i was following my wife home ,after having my other vehicle serviced, and noticed the stop lamps were not working. I got on the internet ,& found there was a recall for 2000--2002 blazers with the exact same problem nhtsa recall 01v364/gm. After no response i called ,& spoke with another person , she was going to call the location i had the multi-switch replaced,& call me back , her co-worker called me ,& told me she was in a meeting ,& i should call her back. Since then i have called her back 3 times, just got her voice mail ! still waiting to hear back from her.i can not believe gm is not taking this safety problem serious!!my wife,& children could have been killed because of this defect.if our blazer is not part of a recall then gm must be trying to hide this problem!.

The 4 ways do not work and are effected by the same components as the brake lights.since the brake lights sometimes work but most of the time do not, the dealership will not replace these lights.the dealership stated that they worked today when they checked them out and said there was no recall on this particular part.my concern is my family getting rear-ended by another vehicle or me getting pulled over by a police officer and getting a ticket.this is a serious problem that could possibly affect other people as well as my passengers.

Both the brake lights and turn signals suddenly stopped working.when i took the car into the dealer, they informed me immediately that this problem was occurring on manysimilar vehicles.they confirmed that the problem was caused by the failure of the "multi function switch".in fact, this problem was so wide spread, the part was on "national backorder" and would not be avialable 10 days to two weeks.it appears that general motors does not think that thousands of cars dirving around without brake lights or turn signals is a serious problem.

While driving multi-function switch malfunctioned, causing brake lights to go out.spoke with dealer.consumer stated this has happened twice within 2 months, consumer was informed that the part in the multi function switch is faulty, therefore causing it to go out.

To whom it may concern,i'm very upset and dissatisfied first of all the first day i purchased the 2001 chevrolet blazer i had it not even a week and people where noticing the drivers side must have been damaged at the factory,so i brought it back and phillips chevrolet was shocked to see this also, and i am leasing this vehicle and definitely was going get blamed for something that was defected from the start.they where great the exchanged the vehicle for me and this is a lemon also i am very upset at the fact that this is 4times now that my fuel injectors have messed up and i have taken this vehicle 2 times to o'conner chevrolet where they have replaced one and cleaned them both times.so then it happens for a third time so i take it to phillips where i bought it thinking the will take beeter care of there vehicle, they cleah 3 injectors 3 times they said and reset the codes, and told me to use shell gas so i did this and now exactly a month later myengine service light came on again3/29/02.now im very upset to where i dont even want this vehicle. Also the multi-function switch has been replaced.so now you tell me should i be happy i dont think so.icant afford to keep taking off from my job for this inconvience.what a joke.

Any time i am driving my fuel gauge goes crazy. I never know how much fuel i actually have because it constantly goes up and down.i've ran out of gas a few times because it shows i have 1/4 tank or more and then it'll just go down all the way, then shoot up 3/4 tank and so on. When i'm coming to a stop, especially in small downhills, my brake pedal starts vibrating and barely slows down.i get nervous all the time because i'm afraid my car will not stop.it also does this if i'm starting to brake, and one of the wheels hits a small bump in the road, then it's almost impossible to brake normally because the brake pedal starts vibrating, the abs brakes light comes on, and my car will not slow down which is very scary especially if i have my 3 year old in the car.

While driving about 45 mph would lose control of vehicle. Will not keep direction, and wandering all overroad, andwind could forcevehicle out onroad.consumer states after repairs, front end is noisy.air leak in vehicle.rough idle.alignment problems.starter is noisy.horn is hard to push.

The contact's girlfriend owns a 2001 chevrolet blazer. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the top of the fuel tank. There was an abnormal fuel odor detected. Additionally, the vehicle was slow to start. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact was concerned about the fuel odor and a possible fire. The failure mileage was unknown.

The events that lead up to the failure of the fuel injection system equipped on my 2001 chevrolet blazer are in correlation to the manufacturers knowledge of having installed a defective producton 1996 - 2002 vehicles with sequential central port injection. After having to deal with the problem of figuring out how to fix the code p0300( random cylinder misfire) on my 01 blazer, i realized it was time to get more help from outside sources who have experienced similar issues with their vehicles. I've done enough research to know now that after eight years of owning the truck and dumping money into unnecessary repairs that chevrolet should fix this problem at their cost since they knew about it after being investigated by the california epa research division on air pollution back in 2003. They found the scpi system installed on models between 1996 and 2002 to be faulty creating a problem with the start up of many suvs which lead to emissions failure. I'm researching this now because i've finally connected the dots and realize that chevrolet knew about this problem many years ago and they cut a deal with the epato extend the warranty coverage on such vehicles for 10 years or 200k miles in an attempt to satisfy california regulations. Well, what about the rest of the united states and how we deal with air pollution. I thought gm and chevrolet wanted to be the company that would set the example in "going green" for our planet. It doesn't make sense until you realize the amount of money that they save by not having to replace faulty fuel systems on older model vehicles which happen to be driven by people who are a lot smarter than they think. I've taken the liberty of filing my claim with chevy to resolve this issue. I'm hoping that this complaint along with valuable information on the internet as well as your web site caninform others of their rights and how we should all be covered under warranty to fix the problem permanently. Thank you for your time.

Fuel gauge fluctuates between empty and 1/3 full without warning. This happens in park and when driving. You never know how much gas you have. I have seen it drop form 1/4 full to completely empty in seconds. I have run out of gas on way to work when gas gauge said 1/4 full when i started off to work, only a couple of miles away. I have told local chevy dealer ( h & h ) about problem when having service but they said that was not a problem, was probably because you were on a slope. This has been an ongoing problem since i originally purchased suv new.

Car would not roll over. Mechanic told us that if it was a a fuel pump problem that it would eventually get worse. Turns out it was not a fuel pump, but the fuel pressure regulator that had to be replaced. Total bill of $381.00.

Fuel gauge jumps from full to empty all the time regardless how much fuel is in the tank - making the gauge useless for displaying the amount of gas in the tank (same thing happens on wife's 2002 blazer).

I have a 2001 chevy blazer the check engine light comes on all the time now i know it is the injection system from what i have found chevy knows about the problem and does nothing the blazer runs bad and emissions are bad this is a problem that has been going on for some time now.

For the past six months, i have been experiencing problems with my gas gauge.the gas gauge will show 1/2 tank of gas and within minutes the low indicator light will turn on.other times the fuel indicator will fluctuate from full to empty.

Coolant level light came on and stayed on due to a coolant leak around intake manifold. Dealer contacted.

Consumer noticed the fuel line system is leaking gasoline, causing stalling engine and then wont start again. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information. Ts

Since i bought my 2001 chevy blazer, i've had to replace ball joints everytime i have a front end alignment. This year i've replaced 3 wheel bearings, fuel pump, and i just lost my transmission. I've had the light recall fixed. My service engine light stays on,but you cannot put a computer to it because it doesn't work. My abs light comes and goes.whats next?

This complaint cover 2 occurrences, 1st aug. 19,2002 & the latest of march 3, 2004.my daughter was driving on the freeway both time with her mother, when all of a sudden the engine stalls, and would not restart. Having towed it to the stewart dealership in colma, ca. It was found that the fuel pump had gone bad both times. The 1st occurrence at 32,090 miles, the 2nd at 66,442 miles. The dealership proceeded to tell me that the reason for the first failure, was that my daughter was driving too much with less than 1/2 tank of gas. The repair was made after a delay to get the part which was not in stock in california. Now this afternoon i was informed that the reason the fuel pump went out again was because the fuel filter was completely plugged up. This car was bought new from the same dealership- 03/01/01- now just barely 3 years old it is having it's third fuel pump on it. The fact that is occurrence has happened not just once but twice while driving on a freeway (luckily during day light hours both times).

Was traveling 45mph when vehicle suddenly died out. Had no prior warning. Was not able to restart vehicle. Had vehicle towed to mechanic.fuel pump was replaced again for 2nd time.

Gas gauge futtering, engine service light car stalled gas pump went.car only has 80k on it pump cost $600.

Was traveling 45mph when vehicle died out. Had no prior warning of any problems. Was not able to restart vehicle. Had it towed to adealer. Mechanic replacedfuel pump.this was second time that fuel was replaced for same problem.

Vehicle stopped (at 9:30p.m.) while i was turning a corner. No warning signs/lights/indicators. Mechanic told me the fuel pump had to be replaced. The first fuel pump obtained was defective and leaked. Mechanic just received another fuel pump - back ordered. I am a single mother of a teenager who is supposed to get her license next month. This is the only car we have. So, the consequences have been devastating financially, mentally, and emotionally...now it is christmas eve and we still do not have the car back! the fact that there are other reports of this same dangerous problem with fuel pumps in chevy blazers is quite disturbing. I have never had a problem like this with any other make of vehicle (honda, toyota, oldsmobile, mercedesbenz) in the 30 years i've been driving! i have written to chevrolet and am demanding reimbursement for parts and labor. Am selling vehicle in 2005 - will not have my teenager driving this car.

Dt:the consumer owns two gmc vehicles with the same problem.the consumer received nets recall 05v155000 on one of the vehicles but not for the other.the problem was with the fuel module reservoir assembly.since the vin was not included they would not correct the problem.(12/02/05)the service engine light soon stayed on and the fuel gauge did not work properly.*sc

*nlm

While driving 30 mph,the driver smelled gasoline coming from the outside of the vehicle.the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicleand pulled over at a gas station. The mechanic inspected the vehicle and noticed fluid leaking from the fuel linesystem. Please provide further details.

Replaced air filter for fuel injection system, fuse.pump was full of water.replaced air pump silenoid, full of water.reroute hose to pump.was told my dealership this was the 4th replacement of this type on same type of vehicle in 2 days.

2001 chevrolet blazer fuel injectors are defective.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer informed both the dealer and manufacturer of the problem.there is currently a recall on the injectors in california only.

Fuel injector was clogged which causedvehicle to stall. Contacted dealer, and dealerwas not willing to do anything.

When using regular or mid-grade fuels, gas gauge has a tendancy not to work correctly.

The truck stall when driving sometimes or wont start , the driver side seat belt locks you in, the truck locks down on you locking you in of out, the headlights will come of and on, the alarm goes of , the gas gauge does not keepright amont of gas,the engin light will not goof and not it seems to be making a ratteling sound

Gas gauge was inadequate. Has ran out of gas twice.had sensors and clusters changed.problem still exists. Dealer contacted. Upon talking to representative there was nothing to be done, but try to keep fuel in vehicle above half tank. General representative stated problem with program in vehicles.

Not only have i had problems early with hub and bearing-- and also replaced ball bearing-- now the abs-- manufacturers has done poor job on brake. Wheel parts- very cheap parts-- many talk about it and know that the blazer has had problems with these parts. My family has purchased chevy's for years-- i am now never about to purchase a chevy again. While i pay my car payment, i always purchase new. I am always also paying for work done on this vehicle, and i am talking- over 2,000 so far and again have to go in today-- i may even trade it in i am so pissed. We also had problems with my husbands truck..i don't know what they did, or who they purchased their parts from, but surely went to cheap parts, they( chevy) put many consumers in a bad spot. And i have written a complaint before- when i had thechevy blazer 2001 for a year half. They seem to wantto only hear if i died cause of the failures that it would be looked into.

Vehicle was stallingwithout warning and could not be restarted until a minimum of 30minutes had elapsed.vehicle checked by dealer who determined original delco battery leaked through the battery tray and damaged the function of the vehicle's computer.ts consumer stated the engine stills shuts off at times.the throw-out bearings were noisy.the dash lights become very hot after vehicle has warmed up.door on fuel tank rattles when moving.

The fuel gauge fluctuates that does not show accurate amount of fuel. The gauge goes to empty, 1/2, full, 3/4 to low. Unsure the correct amount of fuel.

Fuel lines rusted and leaking above fuel tank. Leaking fuel lines tank area replaced both ruel lines rear of truck by chevrolet dealership at a cost of $802.69.

Ajar light fortailgate would come on intermittently, buttailgate would be closed. Dealerhas been notified, and was unable to locate the problem. Feel free to provide any further information.

Theft deterrent system engages while parked, interrior lights will then not turn off and driver side door will not lock.

Intermittentlydome light illuminates. Also, turn signal andbrake lights work intermittently.dealer has not been able to correctproblem. Please provide any further information.

2001 chevy blazer 4 door 4wd, 80,000 miles we could not keep the drivers door closed when we investigated we found the door latch segment on the center post of the vehicle had broken off the center post.the sheet metal holding the heavy latch metal had fatigued through all the way around, and the latch was then not hooked to any thing.we welded a heavy plate to the frame and re-attached the latch to it.we checked the passenger side and found it in similar condition.

Dt*: the contact stated the driver's side door sounded as if it was going to fall off. The vehicle was taken to a dealership ,where they determined the latches on the door corroded. The manufacturer has been contacted.

The hatchbacklatch has failed and will not release open the window hatch.

Ajar light fortailgate would come on intermittently, buttailgate would be closed. Dealerhas been notified, and was unable to locate the problem. Feel free to provide any further information.

1)abs and e-brake light continually come on; unsure if abs system is functional; i have had the computer tested and it returned no faults2) side windows work intermittently;no explanation; windows will not roll down for days at a time and then they work fine for days at a time3)sunroof no longer functional; chevy dealer said the "heat" warped the internal parts and they broke as i rolled it back;weather was mild and the breakage happened at 0500 in the am; i don't believe it was heat related4) rear of vehicle is has drastically fallen below the front;i have no explanation as to why; it looks as if the vehicle front suspension was raised and the rear was lowered; drives fine, but feels unsafeall of the above happened shortly after the warranty expired, between 40000-50000 miles.

Parking brake does not hold.adjustments made starting at 20000miles and three other services.now at 38000 miles we are told that the brake needs to be replaced.the brake has never held well and now not at all.i have noted many others with the same experience in online chat rooms.this is a real problem,gm is aware of it and it is dangerous.

Concerns with the parking brake on the 2001 chevrolet blazer.***no answer required***. *mralthough the parking brake was engaged and the vehicle was in neutral the vehicle was able to roll backwards.this is the second time this has occurred.the parking brake has been adjusted three times.

The parking brake falls to the floor when the driver presses down on it, causing the vehicle to move slightly.the consumer is concerned that the vehicle is not secure, and could cause it to roll and cause an accident.the parking brakes had to be adjusted 3 times in 2 years.the brake would eventually go down to the floor board again.the consumer believes there is either a design flaw or the parts were defective at the time of assembly.the last adjustment, the parking brake was within one inch of the floor board. *sc

The parking brake on my 2001 blazer does not work when the vehicle is parked "nose-up" on an incline. (vehicle has rear disc brakes with a small drum/shoe parking brake.) the dealer told me there is nothing wrong with the parking brake, i.e. It is not suppossed to hold the vehicle in this position, parking brake will only hold the vehicle in the "nose-down" position on an incline. The dealer told me it would be a waste of money to have them disassemble and inspect the parking brake components. Gm customer service refused to provide a clear answer to my inquiries and keeps refering me back to the dealer. Gm customer service refuses to communicate with me further on this issue. Gm customer service refuses to put their prior responses and refusals in writing, on letterhead.in short, gm knows this is a dangerous design defect that will cost them a lot of money to correct.

I have a 2001 blazer that keeps popping up a check engine light codes.i.e p0301,p0753,p0756,p0758. I have had these parts replaced twice in the last few months. Mechanic said it was related to the electrical system. The codes come back after driving for about 100 miles.

Transmission cooler lines between the radiator and transmission are corroded and pitted. The lines are installed over the exhaust catalytic converter. There is transmission fluid leaking from the lines, which is dripping onto hot exhaust components and burning, creating a fire hazard. These lines appear to be stainless steel, which shouldn't be corroding. The lines should not be in such close proximity to exhaust components. When the vehicle is not running/in motion, transmission fluid pools on the ground under the vehicle. In motion, the fluid is being blown rearward, coating the undercarriage and exhaust.

Complete dealer dissatisfaction & incompetence with a "they all do that" answer!!!. No safety defect listed in summary.

Transmission reverse gear failed. Needs a complete teardown and rebuild. Cost to rebuild was between $1400 to $1600.

While driving automatic transmission doesn't shift properly from the first to the second gear.also, reverse is not working any more. Dealerwas notified.

My friends borrowed my vehicle, a 2001 chevy blazer, and went camping in the mountains.the vehicle was parked at a location that could have been very dangerous due to this failure, it was near a creek bank with a drop of approximately 30 feet.when the vehicle was started and put into reverse all it would do is coast forward which could have been very dangerous if they did not react in time as it could have went over a cliff.fortunately they were in an area where there was a pay phone.they were staying at a state park and there are many areas that are very remote and are several miles away from phones or people.i was advised by aamco transmission that they see this transmission problem on a regular basis and it is caused because the reaction sun shell was made of an inferior metal and even in repair technical bulletins it specifies to repair problem by replacing with a "more robust heat treated reaction sun shell".when this occurs, it also affects second and fourth gears.in order to repair this problem the transmission needed completely rebuilt at a price of $2,326.38 plus a towing bill.

When the car in gear on a hill, it will roll down the hill and increase in speed. The car rolls so fast that you cannot safely make the transition frombrake to accelerator without rolling severely, the manufacturer stated that this falls within specs, the 4 wheel drive service light is illuminated.

2001 chevrolet blazer developing various problems.***no answer required***. *mrthe differential pinion shaft seal was leaking. When it rained the transmission slipped, the cigarette lighter was inoperative, the lighter socket was replaced.the heater was not blowing hot air, the service engine soon light illuminated, the brake light was inoperable, the directional switch was replaced.the front rear rotors were rotted, the rear wheel well molding was coming undone, the drivers window was leaking water.the vehicle was not shifting properly, the alternator was replaced, the tail gate glass would not lock, the driver door did not shut easily, the battery was replaced. The headlights were inoperable. The driver seat recliner was replaced, the retractor in the seat belt was reset.the rear window molding was loose. The oil cooler lines were leaking.

This was not the first time i had a problem with the transmission in this car.earlier in the year i put it in the shop because it seemed to be falling out of overdrive.it was repaired and i had two months of incident-free driving.we went on a weekend trip.after i stopped and restarted the car, i noticed my clock reset itself.two hours into the trip, the car started jerking in and out of gear.we drove two hours back to the dealership where they found a computer wire was disconnected.two hours later, the car starts slipping in and out of overdrive again.it would run in 3rd gear, we were close enough to our destination, we continued on in 3rd gear.when i got back home, i dropped the car off at the dealership and told them to fix it.i was without my vehicle the majority of the following 6 week period.i was driving on the interstate in the rain, there was a fatal accident, i slowed down & turned on my flashers, i had no tail lights, flashers, etc.i had already had the multi-function switch replaced shortly after i bought the car because someone almost rear-ended me.the engineer from chevrolet came down and could find no cause for my transmission problem and offered $1500 trade allowance, which leaves me stuck with another chevrolet and a higher car payment.in addition to the transmission problem, one of my tires was worn out after 30,000 miles, the 2nd one 15,000 miles and an alignment later.after only 45,000 miles the wheel bearing on the front drivers side was shot, the same side the tires were going bald on.

Loud clanking noise heard under normal driving conditions.transmission failed, no reverse and no 3rd or 4th gear.vehicle has only 53,500 miles.

Transmission dropped out @44000 miles. 12/02 had to replace both front ball joints.summer of '03 started making loud popping noises which came from front right area, it would pull unexpectedly to either side - mainly to the right and service 4wd light would come on.10/03 had to have right front wheel bearing replaced.could find nothing wrong with 4wd-don't know why light keeps coming on. Now 01/04, right front wheel bearing needs replaced again.i'm told part under warranty as long as i own vehicle cause gm has received so many complaints.what is gm doing to correct the root cause of this?i see i am not the only one with this problem.thank god i have not had any accidents, but have had a few near misses because the it would "jerk instantly" and it caught me off guard.does an accident / injury / fatality have to happen before corrective action is taken?

After coming from a stop position and returning to normal driving transmission was making a rowing noise, difficult changing gears. Dealer has been contacted. Pleas provide further information.

The low gear in the auto transmission fails at will, it will work for a week or two then will go out.this has happened 6 times.dealer says he can not identify problem as it was working when he checked it.dt

My 2001 chevy blazer changes from 2wh to 4 wheel drive automatically while the vehicle is moving.this isn't the first time this has happened.i was able to get my car off of the road safely and change it back into 2wh, but it kept switching back into 4 wheel drive.there is evidently a defect.

40,300 miles on 2001 blazer, transmission seals failed. Had to rebuild transmission. Gm offered to pay parts only, left us with $1250 labor repair bill. Purchased vehicle as dealer demo, 7500 miles when we bought, but we hold first title

The four wheel drive did not engage properly.the switch was disconnected by thedealer and the part would be replaced, once it arrived.

It would switch from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive while driving ,causing car to slow down dramatically. Transfer case has failed 3 times, and each time it was replaced by the dealer. It stayed in 4 high, and it just locked up, consumer had it replaced and it worked for a minute and failed again, it kept doing the same thing.

Our 2001 blazer 4wd failed to engage . We were traveling east on highway 36. It was snowing. I pressed the 4wd hi button and it continued to blink. We were on a narrow two lane highway and had no where to pull over. The 4 wheel drive failed to engage and the blazer, within seconds sliped over the cliff. The front wheels did not lock in. We rolled down the cliff approximately 50 feet and hit a tree.

I had warranty repairs completed onmy 2001 blazer in november, 2005 that totaled around $2200. I paid a large deductible. The work was done at good chevrolet in renton, wathe seat belt simply stopped latching shortly after my vehicle was repaired by gm........ Obviouslychevrolet did not completely fix all repairs covered by the warranty.i need gm to assume responsibility for expenses for the seat belt, because i'm disabled and on social security and could never afford to have a seat belt repaired.i had to coordinate with my dealership for several weeks before repairs could begin...this ate up time that could have been useful for fixing the seat beltthe warranty repairs were done at good chevrolet in renton. The seat belt could have been repaired at the same timei haven't had any other repairs done outside the warranty. All repairs to date were covered by the warranty............. If the seat belt had just went defective two or three months ago it would havebeen covered..............or if i hadn't been made to wait for approval for repairs from the dealership if it weren't something importantand safety related i wouldn't ask for help!!!! please........ While in a frontal collision driver's side seat beltfailed to retract.

My 9 year old son unbuckled the left rear seat belt (where he had been seated) after i parked the vehicle in my driveway.somehow he became entangled in it when he turned around in the seat to look in the cargo area. The belt became wrapped around his stomach as he struggled to free himself, and because the belt would not release, but kept getting tighter and tighter, there was no way to get him out of it . I had to get my sewing scissors to cut him free as the belt wouldn't give us any slack, but kept reeling in , getting tighter and tighter. I'm concerned that some child may get one of these belts wrapped around his neck. Once the unbuckled belt is reeled in, it won't give any slack until it goes all the way in. If someone gets entangled, and there isn't a knife or scissors handy, i'm afraid there will be a fatality.

I bought my 2001 blazer for the sole purpose of having a family car that was not too expensive. I wanted an suv so when we had a child i could place the car seat in the rear center position- the safest position in an event of a crash. My daughter is now 8 months old and in researching car seats for 1 year olds i have found that in my owner's manual it states "do not use center seat positions for child restraints. The restraint will not function properly." that is all it said. I have tried over and over to get an answer as to why the seat belt will not function properly. I do not want to wait until the event of a crash to find out. This issue is one i believe would be extremely important to every mother out there who drives this vehicle if they knew what the manual says. Who would think that if there is a seat belt in the rear center position designed to hold an older child or adult would not be fit to hold a car seat? i have called chevrolet and the only answer they had for me was the vehicle was not designed that way. They say not to put a child restraint in that position. But the only question i have is why and no one can tell me the reason. I would just like an answer or at least the other mothers out there who just want the safest for their child to know. My infant seat fits great in the rear center position, it is so snug that i can't budge it. But like i said i do not want to wait until a crash to discover a defect in the seat belt.

Consumer stated the seat was repaired and the cushion was replaced.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, speed was undetermined, and it ejected passengers bucket seat under the dashboard. Dealer was notified.

Although there was no accident, i have had several problems with my chevrolet blazer.first, the gas guage has failed.it constantly lies on empty, and the low fuel light is always on.in order to measure my gas, i have to record my mileage.also, the lever for seat recliner has broken off of the driver side, making it impossible for me to adjust my seating.

Brake/abs lights come onthe dash, no abs brakes at all, so now what ???

Abs and brake light continuously on and when braking the abs will activate making braking difficult.

About once a few weeks, my abs will activate when it is not supposed to.i will be trying to make a normal stop, sometimes an abnormally slow stop and the brake pedal will vibrate and depress but the vehicle won't stop the way it's supposed to.at that point, i usually jam the brakes down and pray.sometimes when i have enough stopping distance, i will pump the brakes and it goes back to normal. When are you force gm to do a recall? i read the blogs about this problem today, and this a frequent problem with this make and model.

Brake pedal soft and brake warning lamp came on ,made partial check( it was dark already ) of brake system andone of the left front brake lines is rusted thru and leakingchecked for recall but no luck. Vehicalin motion on a citystreetgoing straight.

Brake pedal went all the way to the floor while stopping, my wife was almost hit by a bus. The dealer has been trying to identify the problem, an has thus far replaced the master cylinder. The problem still exists intermittently, and causing the anti-lock brake pump to cycle (locking the brakes) alleviates the low or fading pedal for a short period of time.this problem seems to be related to the abs pump and/or the computer controlling it. I am very experienced in diagnostics and rebuilding automobiles, and have seen this occur on other makes and models (usually a failure of the abs pump).my car will be back at the dealer again on tuesday april 14th for this on going failure of this poorly designed abs.maybe my government will do something about this when the brakes on this vehicle kill some innocent citizen or government employee driving one of these cars.

Without any warning the abs electronic control module went out on my 2001, s-10 blazer.the malfunction caused what is known as "pump run on". This means that the abs pump runs constantly and has to be replaced.removing 2 fuses disables the pump but does not turn off the abs warning light on the instrument panel.the vehicle can be driven but only has power brakes and will not pass a safety inspection.after doing some research on the internet it was discovered that this is a common occurrence on gm vehicles. Especially trucks and suv's. The dealerships want @ $700 to repair this issue.the part can be removed and sent off to several places that will rebuild the product for @ $150.shouldn't gm do something about the faulty components that they use on their vehicles. Ie: get the part from another manufacturer or make the manufacturer responsible for their product.it seems that gm and the manufacturer make out like bandits on this deal. My vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it and is well taken care of.this part should not have failed in such a short bit of time.

When i had my brakes changed, i was told that my rotors were the cause of my brakes wearing out. Is this possible.

I was driving down the road coming up to a stop sign when my abs system kicked on and couldn't stop. Now my abs light stays on.. I have went through my savings account trying to get the problem fixed and still having the same problems. I think this is more of a manufacture defect and its going to get someone hurt or killed.

Abs and brakehen the abs lights come on and then the abs will not work. When the brakes are applies at low speeds they will shake and then cause the lights to come on.

The ac compressor has been replaced 3 times - the last time was on 9/2003.the exhaust pipe seal has been replaced, the muffler has been replaced, cluster dash went out and replaced, front suspension replaced, brake lights went out and replaced.the back window was not aligned properly and had to be fixed.the front passenger door had to be realigned and the door sill replaced.

When the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. . dealer replaced brakes, as well as master cylinder.

2001 blazer fwd, abs activation at low speeds impeding all manual braking functions.

Abs system kicks in at very low speed and overrides normal braking.

In three different occasions, 2 in 06 and 2 in 07 the brakes failed to stop it's an intermittent incident. In 06 after incident, master cylinder brake was changed (not keep old part). After third incident, i tookit to dealer. Their response was nothing wrong. But on my interview with head technician, mentionedthat could be the abs activating, like reading false instructions. What could be done, he said to change the sensors but there were three on the car and those were expensive and then there are more other components to the abs that could also be the cause of failure. I started to investigate on the internet to understand the abs and then to see if i was the only one, and then looking for recalls. I came to an article that described the failure exactly as it has happened to me all these past events and reads:...sidebar: what are the most common failures with abs that you have detected from your vehicle inspections?folck: well, in the general motors trucks and vans, the 4-wheel kelsey-hayes antilock brake system. The brake pedal is supposed to just pulsate a little bit and stay in position, but sometimes it goes to the floor. Sidebar: what does that indicate when it goes to the floor?folck: that there is a failure in the abs. They have a problem with their algorithm, and it won?t set a failure code in the kelsey-hayes 4-wheel. In laymen?s terms, an algorithm is a sequence of functions the computer is supposed to take. There are glitches in the algorithm, and gm has acknowledged the algorithm failures. (eds. Note: see the article in the money section of usa today, "gm: computer glitch could affect brakes", 05/22/98.)" ... First of all, my safety is first and the manufacturer has to fix this problem right away. I am not in the position of selling the car since i am still paying dearly for it and second, i would not like to pass this problem to someone else.

2001 chevrolet s-10 blazer, abs and brake lights both keep coming on thus disabling the abs system.

The consumer's mechanic indicated that the brakes were fine.the consumer found information on the internet about other complaints of the same nature. The abs would not stop the vehicle and the problem seemed to be getting worse.

While applying brakes to stop vehicle it commenced to accelerate and raninto entrance door of a hotel.no injuries were reported.

While driving and applying the brakes abruptly the wheels locked up briefly and vehicle began to fish tail, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and taken for a test drive, while the service manager was driving the problem reoccured while braking, upon inspection the consumer was told that the brakes were working properly.

Abs and brake lights(on dash) come on and off, pressure on brake pedal--vibrations.vehicle brought to dealership's service for inspection of above problems.abs antilock brake system failure--module and valve needs to be replaced.abs repair costs: $1840.95.

The abs seems to be activated even in slow stops and i lose complete control of stopping the vehicle. This happens randomly since i purchased the vehicle in july 2005. I had several near crashes. It acts up more when the road is slick. Several mechanics told me it was abs but they could not pinpoint the problem until now.

Consumer is looking for reimbursement of $362.92. *yd

Applied brakes to stop quickly due to stopping traffic.the abs system seem to hardly stop the vehicle at all.it just seemed to keep going.vehicle stops fine when abs not involved.

When applyingbrakespedal goes tofloor, causing extended stopping distance, andresulting in a collision.dealer cannot identifyproblem.please give any further details.

On 11/20/01 i pressed brake pedal to floor but my brakes failed causing my vehicle to bump a vehicle in front of me (bumped vehicle at very slow speed due to heavy stop and go traffic).i initially thought that my foot merely slipped off the brake pedal as after the incident my brakes worked properly.however, on the following day (11/21/01) my brakes failed a second time.i had to swerve onto the shoulder of the road in order to avoid an accident and was finally able to get my vehicle stopped.after a short period of time, my brakes were operational again.at that point, the vehicle was taken to the closest chevy dealership (heritage auto plaza in alexandria, va) where it remains as of 10:05 a.m. On 11/26/01.

After applyingbrakes vehicle goes into extended stopping distance. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further information.

When utilizing the brakes, normally or in an emergency, the mechanism lock causes the vehicle to continue to move. The brakes regularly click when stepped on. A 'manager' at the office of the president at chevrolet na stated there is no problem with the way the vehicle stops. When i insisted, he stated next time perhaps i 'should buy a toyota". I am afraid to drive the vehicle except for very short trips and not on any main street or highway. This happens repeatedly. The latest date is reflected below.

The "abs" and "brake system" lights stay come on and stay on at different times.i have had the brakes checked and the system checked and they are coming on for no reason.

Our 2001 chevy blazer required brake service with 44000 miles.we selected tuffy auto service centers (warren, mi), our estimated cost was $180.during the brake service the tuffy service manager informed us that our rear brakes would require replacement, our cost for the rear was an additional $280.the service manager indicated that the rear brake disc-rotors were heavily corroded, service (rotor turning) was not an option and replacement required.rear brake service at 44000 miles is highly unexpected, full replacement due to corrosion is unacceptable.our assessment is that the disc-rotor material was not correctly specified (and/or perhaps a galvanic corrosion with aluminum wheels/iron hubs), the resulting excessive corrosion unexpected and a serious safety concern.

2001 chevrolet blazer 2wd, 2dr.problem with brakes, went to auto shop and brake condition was explained as "hazardous".had to get entire new rotor systems for front and back including new pads, etc.i bought this vehicle new & it was garage stored.rotors were rusted through and "barely there".was told by auto shop that they have been seeing a lot of blazer's with the same problem.total repair cost for brakes was $2,200!!vehicle was properly maintained and only 4 years old at the time of repair.

On the 10 of july i took my 2001 chevy blazer in for routine brake service, i was then told by my mechanic(satch whitt) that i had 4 defective rotors that needed to be replaced, that they appeared to be defective. He stated that the metal was just flaking off and to him it appeared that they had been made from reprocessed metal. He also stated that he had seen alot of this in the newer chevy products recently. Although i was lucky and did not have an accident i feel that this is a very real safety concern for american families. I have kept the rotors in hopes that chevrolet would stand behind thier product. Thank you for your time and consideration in this safety matter, mark wiley.

The steering wheel was sensitive to the touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times to no avail. Mr *ph

On several occasions, in the mornings when blazer is cold and the weather is cold, i have heard a rumbling noise when i turn the steering wheel to the left.once the vehicle is warmed up the noise goes away.the first day i took the the shop, the repair man said it was unusual but he did hear the noise and said it sounded like it was in the steering shaft.he made an appointment for the following day.while checking the vehicle they did not hear the noise.a week later, it was extremely cold and snowing, the noise returned i stopped on my way home from work and another mechanic heard the noise, he felt it was in the power steering system and made an appointment for the following day.on this appointment, they could hear the noise but " it was not loud enough to pinpoint where it was coming from" so they returned the vehicle to me.he made arrangements to keep the vehicle over night and give me a rental car.i told them that they should check it first thing in the morning as soon as they got there.which they did not do.they waited until i returned later in the morning to test the vehicle and it had warmed up outside and could not be heard. They claim they have checked the power steering system and everything is fine.i am afraid that something may happen to the steering wheel or inside the steering system while driving and i will not be able to steer the vehicle or could be in an accident and possible injure myself or someone else. *la

My wife's 2001 chevy blazer made a hard right turn all by its self. She can't turn the steering back to the left and rolled down a 300 ft canyon. Thank god she lived to tell what happened. The car was a problem from the day we purchased it.one week into ownership the steering gearbox had to be replaced.26,000 miles later the right wheel hub assembly failed.fast forward to feb 25, 2003 while driving home her blazer turned right and lock to the right.from day one we always heard a popping noise but the dealer said there was nothing they could found.gm states there is nothing wrong we hired a lawyer.thank you mycarstats.com for your complaint board.*la

*nlm

While driving 45 mph steering wheel locked up. Consumer was unable to unlock the steering wheel.this caused thevehicle to hit a curb. Consumer hadvehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined steering columnneeded to be replaced due to worn out parts.

Consumer states steering wheel will not lock into place ,steering wheel would move up and down and side to side. Dealer has been contacted.

Theft deterrent system engages while parked, interrior lights will then not turn off and driver side door will not lock.

The theft-deterrent alarm goes off for no reason when parked and locked up.the oil pressure gauge moves eratically, dome lights and floor lights come on by themself and sometime stay on for a long time and sometime consistantly flash off and on, radio shuts off when turn engine off(not suppose to), and check engine light came on for a few days then just went off.the dealer replaced the bcm #9385236 but vehicle is still not fixed after several visits back to dealer.

I purchaced this vehicle december 04, 2000 and was confident that i was buying a safe vehicle with a good history.2 months and less than 3800 miles into service the power steering failed.after being towed to a local chevy dealer i was told the hose just fell off.they said it was repaired and i was on my way.less than 10 miles down the road it happened again.the shaft snapped and the power steering pump was replaced.my concern is that what if i had been driving at a higher speed or in an off-road environment?also, the repair man said he has seen this happen to three other blazers.perhaps this should be investigated as a design flaw?

Front end, both wheel bearings at 60,000 miles, idler arm, replacetires, abs light.

I own a 2001 chevrolet 2dr 2wheel drive blazer. The wheel bearings and spindle / parts have already needed to be replaced on both sides/front. I found this problem because the wheel of my front passenger side came off while i was driving. Thankfully i heard the grinding and slowed my speed to 5-6 mph and had turned my hazard lights on. From what i am learning this is a problem that is some what common with my make/model vehicle. I have also seem complaints of this nature on canadian auto club sites.

Within 3 days of purchasing this vehicle i realized that there was no indication that my doors were left ajar.there is a warning that the rear gate is ajar but not the doors.i have had many cars in my lifetime and this is the first that i didn't have this safety feature.i guess i assumed it was standard -- i am shocked that it is not....i feel very unsafe with my 8 year old children in the car.i often have to get out and verify that the doors are closed.

There was no events leading up to this failure... The problem is the body frame around the striker plate on the drivers side door, is ripping apart. This vehicle is 3 years old, and has never been in an accident. This is not being caused by rust. This is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle.

2 front door hinge pin-bushings and 1 rear door hinge pin-bushingneeded to be replaced on the consumer's 2001 chevrolet blazer. The vehicle's bumper to bumper warranty would not cover the hinge replacements.

The 2001 chevy blazer we were riding and hydroplaned doing 45-50 mph. The vehicle spun around 3 times and then rolled over twice. The roof caved in on the front passenger side, causing my wife to break her neck. She was in nicu for 6 weeks, at which point she died due to complications from pneumonia.

"popping""thud""cracking"type noise when making sharp turns. Noise comes from front of vehicle, on uneven pavement.

When slowing down or a sudden stopvehicle will start to pull to the left or right. Contacted dealer, and the dealer cannot find cause of problem.

There is a "popping""clicking" type noise, from front (suspension), upon making sharp right turns, especially on uneven surface.

Heard clicking sounds from front wheels of car.have only had the car two years and had to replace the wheel bearings in both tires!

Shimmy in left front wheel when making left hand turn after you come to a complete stop. At this time the blazer is at the dealership for the third time.

Rattle in front end of vehicle coming from suspension, or wheels, can be felt in steering wheel.also after coming to a stop after traveling on interstatevehicle shakes/vibrates in transmission/rear drivetrain area when starting.both havebeen going on for a couple years, and i have had vehicle at dealer ship to repair/locate problem, but problem continues

Front suspension noise.

While driving at any speed consumer continued to hear a thumping sound coming from the front of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an examination, and dealer determined thatlower ball joints needed replacement.*mr

My 2001 chevy blazer had uneven tire wear indicating the need for a front end alignment.during the inspection i was informed that the lower ball joints had to be replaced as well as the idler arm and should do the upper joints as well.i had never heard of a vehicle with 56,000 miles needing to have this done.of course, now i hear of many owners having the same problem.the unexpected $900 bill was not pleasant!the mechanic said it was a common problem that he saw with chevy products.do i have any chance of being compensated for the less than quality parts installed on my vehicle?

Whenservicing thetires there was a loud pop noise. Dealer claimed causewasa loose upper control arm. Dealer replacedupper contrlarm. Service manager stated it was same defect as mentioned inrecall 01v126000 for trailblazer, 2002.

- the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet blazer.while driving the upper ball joint snapped and the wheel collapsed sideways, leaning towards the inside of the vehicle, but the vehicle continued to travel at 70 mph. The contact had the vehicle towed, andreplaced the ball joint as well as anything that might have been damaged himself.the current mileage was 76,000 and the failure mileage was 74,000.

Had a terribly loud noise in the front end of our 2001 chevy blazer and found out it was a front wheel hub and bearing assembly, cost $439.81. Now one year later the other side has gone and had to be replaced, we have almost $900. Into this repair that i now see appears to be a frequent problem with this vehicle. General motors needs to be accountable for there products, either on there own or forced to do some type of recall.we also had to have the brake light recall taken care of

Both front wheel hub assembly failed at the same time.

Vehicle rides hard/ jumped up and down, and there is a knocking noises coming from underneath withinsuspension ofvehicle. Dealership told her thatcoil spring insulated. Insulated is a rubber piece that sit by the coilspring and rubs off. Dealership is aware ofproblem.

While driving the consumer heard a loud noise.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the mechanicreplaced the wheel bearings on the right side.the hub assembly was also replaced. *sc

Front wheel bearings had to be replaced for a second time.the car has only 60,000 miles on it!the second time, the bearings were no longer covered under warranty and i incurred over $1000 in repair costs.

I have replaced the left front wheel bearing on my 2001 chevrolet blazer (it was worn out after about 53,000 miles.now, i have to replace the right front wheel bearing.these wheel bearings are about 400 dollars a piece (1 whole unit) and with the labor the costs come to about 600 dollars.this has got to be some sort of defect and i would like for someone to investigate this.

Hub and bearing assembly, only to find that it is a common problem, this car has little less than 40,000 miles on it, paying up the yang yang just buying it, and already having a problem with it, please note, that much of this is long distance driving, is it cheap assembly parts, or just bad workmanship? said wear and tear, if it is a common problem, must not be wear and tear, must have a cheap part.*nlm

On may 12,2001 while driving westbound on i-290, a car in the left lane cut me off. I swerved my suv to the right to avoid an accident, and the truck lost control, tip over on the driver side and started to rollover. The car stopped on its top(roof). I had taken the car into the dealer ship on 4/5/01 to repair the stabilizer links/bushing, and on 4/10/01 the rear springs had to be reseated. I only had this truck for 2.5 months.

A problem with slammingtire catch foroutside rear spare tire to properly be secured. Thisproblem will causemetal to weaken and loosen within time. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

This problem first occurred at about 4600 miles. I took the tire to have it repaired at the tire shop i use.they told me it had some belt separation.i then went to the dealership where i had purchased the vehicle and was told by the service manager to take it to goodyear. I took it to goodyear and they told me that since my spare tire was already on that i should keep it on and that the tire only needed a flat repair.in september 2001 i started to notice a slight thumping noise coming from my vehicle i took it back to the dealership in october 2001 they replaced a front wheel bearing and the rear differential but still the thump. They told me it was a flat spot on the tire and that i had two bad tires and needed to go back to goodyear. The dealership told me that the other tire was bad too, not what goodyear told me approx. 8 months earlier.i am being told these tire problems are caused by my driving.i know this is not the case, i had a blazer 3 yrs prior to this one with a different brand of tires and not once did i have any problems.

On three different occasions my 2001 chevrolet blazer has nearly caused me to have a terrible accident.twice while just driving along at a normal rate, the motor sped up to probably 70 or 80 mph creating a very dangerous situation.it was very lucky that there was nothing in front of me.this has beenan ongoing defect with this vehicle.the service manager states that this a very dangerous defect in my car.i am afraid to drive it as each time they say it is repaired, it has happened once again.this is a very serious situation which could easily lead to a dreadful accident and loss of life.it is my opinion that general motors should offer me a new vehicle in place of the very dangerous one i now own.i could not,in good faith, consider selling it knowing how dangerous it is.fortunately there has not been an accident with it, but i feel that it could easily happen.on all three occasions, my dealer, buzz chew, southampton, ny has been apprised of this defect and attempted to fix it, but it is only a temporary fix.it is also a know fact that other vehicles of the same make have had the same ongoing defect.

The vehicle experienced sudden acceleration going up to a speed of 80 mph.this was an ongoing problem because each time the vehicle was fixed the problem would occur again.(re:odi#10013779)*mr*scc *nlm

Consumer stated that when trying to accelerate the pedal will stick in the idle position, causing a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified.

Whenever foot was removed from accelerator pedal vehicle failed to slow down without depressing on brakes. Vehicle had manual 4wd. Sometimes would increase due to gravity. Had taken to dealership 4 times for this problem, but it was not resolved.consumer states when you take your foot off the gas, sensors detect error signals, that cause the systme to inject more gas and air so the vehicle does not slow down.

I own a 2001 chevy blazer. Lost heat in jan. 2004. Took it to dealer. They flushed the system and replaced thermostat. 3 to 4 weekslater the same thing . They cleaned out filter. 30 days later it happened again. They said the filter was clogged again. As the weather warmed up i didn't need the heat. As the colder weatherapproached again, used the heat 2 times and the 3 rd time the heater core went out completely. When i returned to the dealer there were about 10 other blazers there for the same reason. They say it is our problem now. Now without heat and have to keep air conditioner on and still smell coolant inside the vehicle. If there is that many vehicles with the same problem then , i would say it was defective parts used. To replace the part is almost $200. And with labor over $600. To have to put out that kind of money on vehicle that is only 3 years old is wrong for consumers. To leave it unattended could be a health hazard, with coolant entering the inside of the vehicle.

Vehicle was parked when all of a sudden it caught onfire due to an electrical short in the heater.

Driver side window will work when it wants.sometimes in the early mornings and not in the evenings.or for a couple of days and then not at all.now it won't work at all.switch was replaced with two used parts but that wasn't the problem.

Driver's side window pops out, letting water get into the vehicle, which could be dangerous because it could cause a possible electrical short and fire. Manufacturer was contacted by owner.

The windshield wipers came on by themselves.

Excessive glare off drivers side mirror from head lamp switch at night time driving, need to have something mounted on side of switch to remove glare off side mirror.

Airis coming throughwindshield.dealer cannot find cause of theproblem. Dealer is not willing to do anything.

While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wipers came on when the driver turned the windshield wipers on high speed. Dealer was aware of this problem. Dealer informed the consumer that vehicle was not covered under recall. *tc

While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wipers came on and went off on their own. The dealer was aware of this intermittent problem.*sc

While driving in inclement weather windshield wipers will come on and off on its own. This is an intermittent problem.dealer is aware of the problem.

Windshield wipers on 2001 chevrolet blazer fail to turn off when switch is moved to off position. After several attempts wipers will shut off but will stop in an upright position on the windshield.

I have a 2001 chevy blazer, 4 dr & 4 wheel drive. And after only 28,660 mi. All 4 front & rear rotors rusted out causing the replacement of all front & rear brake pads & rotors to be replaced.for all 4 rotors to rust out at the same time and at such low mileage requires me to complain. It was an accident waiting to happen.i complained to the chevy division with no results. I was told it was normal wear and tear, which i think is rediculous. I owned chevies most of my life and i never had a problem like this. I could see one or two rotors going bad but not 4 at the same time.especially rusting out.

I have at least 1 friend whose general motors vehicle had the same failure with the wheel hub assembly at similar low mileage.wheel bearings on a new vehicle should last longer than 37,000 miles.i believe this is general motors/chevroletdefect.

In december of 2003 my wife and i drove our 2001 chevrolet blazer 4x4 home to north carolina from massachusetts where i am stationed in the us coast guard. On january 14, 2005 i took the vehicle in for its state inspection in nc and found out that the left wheel hub was so loose that the whole wheel was about to come off.the odometer read 68267.today (8/13/2005) my wife came home from church and told me there was a problem with the blazer.the abs light was illuminated. I was curious so i jacked up the front of the vehicle and come to find out the right wheel is about to come off.the hub is that loose. I am going to find out more on monday when i get the vehicle in a shop.

Left front hub bearing bad at 52,401 miles
