My dad came and pulled me home. My dad is an automotive tech and he looked at my car in the morning he came and woke me up and told me the cause of my gas pedal getting stuck was that my throttle cable for the gas just snapped and that gm made a faulty design for the gas cable it sucked and caused my cable to slice and snap i could have lost my life i was on the freeway 10 minutes before the accident..im shocked that i could have died.!!the night that this happened i was so upset that i cried myself to sleep and im 28 years old so you can see how traumatizing this was for me. I have an issue with my new blazer, in that the owner's manual says that you cannot place a child safety seat in the center back position.had i known, i would've never bought this vehicle.i have tried to find out what the issue is and have received numerous different answers from chevy's customer service, the most obnoxious being that the center seat belt isn't that strong so they don't want kids to use it.adults can use it though because they can brace themselves if it breaks.i'd like to know why i can't keep the child seat in the center, why chevy would produce a car that doesn't allow a child safety seat to go in the safest position, and who i can report their horrendous customer service folks to. Would appreciate a response.thanks.

1999 chevrolet blazer lt - multifunction switch (common problem!) is malfunctioning.turn signal/flasher relay is constantly clicking whether signals are in use or not -- unless the brakes are applied.good sign of an electrical short.the cause of this issue is the grease inside the switch, applied at the factory, running from contact to contact.this switch includes the wipers, cruise control, turn signals, hazards, and can also cause vehicle lighting (headlights, brake lights) to malfunction.many cases include non-working brake lights!others have reported smoke coming from the switch as the contacts are shorted by the grease.i inherited this vehicle from my grandfather, who couldn't hear the relay firing -- it is the only indicator inside the vehicle that something may be going wrong.there are no visible indicators inside the vehicle letting a person know their lights are malfunctioning.as there is no recall for this year of blazer (though i understand other years have had the same problem recalled), i will be replacing the switch on my own.dealer quoted the price for the part alone well out of my price range (nevermind labor), so i'm going to have to shop around to get the vehicle in safe driving condition.thanks for reading.i appreciate it!

The abs systemm is not working and the is a short in the front end,..causing the battery to die. Amazingly after the battery was removed from the vehicle the lights on the bumper that are supposed to light up the liceness plate was still on. Long with other lights under the hood. How is this possible.,,unless there is an alternate power source that i was never made aware of. The is police documitaton on this.

Bought a blazer from lee xars in fort myers. Was making a loud noise so i took it to a auto repair close to my house because i was afraid to drive it all the way back to town. When i bought it they out a relay switch so the ac would blow cold. Heres whatmy mechanic found what was wrong.a/c compressor clutch was defective and the a/cclutch controlrp relaywas bypassed improperly and not fused which could have started a fire. When i went up to get my title and tags the guy who runs the repair shop wanted to know what i wanted him to do about it. The owner wasnt there so i left a copy of my invoice. He was suppose to call me but hasn't. They need to be checked out. There deal is if something brakes on the car they can get cheap parts and they charge cheap labor. This also happened to other people as i been reading on there reviews.

Dt*:the consumer stated the vehicle caught fire and burned.after turning on the heater, smoke poured from the interior vents and visible flames were behind the dashboard.the fire department was contacted to extinguish the fire and determined the fire was electrical in nature.after the initial purchase, the check engine light and airbag light came on intermittently.the dealership suspected it could have be the transmission slipping signaling the check engine light and the airbag sensor indicating airbag failure.the dealership cleared the check engine light code and recommended the vehicle be seen by a transmission repair shop.contrary to the dealers suggestion, the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop.the independent mechanic also recommended the vehicle be taken to a transmission shop.two days later, the vehicle burned and was totaled by the extensive fire damage.

My 1999 chevrolet blazer's driver's side window has quit working.chevrolet already replaced the window once, in 2001, and refused to replace it again.now that the window has quit working i get electrically shocked when getting out of the car and touching the metal on the outside of the car.this happened before when the window broke.this happens everytime i drive my car.i believe there is a serious electrical problem with this vehicle.a friend has the same problem with his s-10 blazer.these electrical shocks hurt, and i fear that it may cause a problem when i am getting fuel for the car.on one occasion the shock was so strong it gave my finger a blister.my wife also has been shocked by this problem, and refuses to drive my car.please check into this, i feel you will find that this electrical problem occurs in other vehicles like mine.it is dangerous, and i would like it fixed.thank you.

1999 chevy blazer suddenly dies without warning - at slow and high speed.may not restart immediately.clock resets, and on one occasion the rear window unlatched.

Flashers clicking continues (sometimes rapidly) after turn is complete and lights out.the sound comes from under the glove box.on line research uncovered this as a common and expensive problem with the combination switch.

No events just after i have been driving a while every day all lights including dash flicker and then when i shut off fuel pump won't pump up. This happens once a day and will not restart till next day.

The vehicle has experienced continued electrical problems which causes malfunctions in several components (door locks, windows and battery), the consumers have been electrically shocked on several occasions when entering and exiting vehicle. *mjs

Bought this car from lee auto in fort myers. Was making a loud noise. Took it to a close mechanic to check the problem because i was afraid to drive it back there to get checked out. This is what my mechanic said. A/c compressor was defective and the a/c clutch control relay was bypassed improperly and not fused which could have started a fire in the engine. When i bought the car the salesman told me he was going to put a relay switch in because it was t blowing cold air. Told lee cars about it and have t heard back. Its not good to sell unsafe cars.

Dt*:the contact stated after the vehicle had been parked for 8 hours, the contact was alerted that the vehicle was on fire.the fire department responded and the fire was extinguished.the vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the cause of the fire was undetermined.

Vehicle is experiencing driving light and tail light failure, sometimes the lights will go out and a few hours later, they'll be back on again, the compass went crazy one time, the dealer replaced the automatic headlight switch, but the consumer is still having the same problems with the lights, the battery also failed.

While driving 25-30 mph vehicle jumped out of 2-wheel high into 4-wheel low.conditions caused the vehicle to skid two car links before stopping. Vehicle was towed to a repair shop, andmechanic replaced the transfer case motor and the electronic module. Dealer andmanufacturer were not notified.

I am having trouble with my multifuntion switch, also someone i know with the samevehicle ( 1999 chevy s10 blazer) had to replace his because it was acting upthere was a recall for 2000 and 2001 for this problem i believe. The recall # is 01073,nhtsa recall # 01v364/gm. I have a major clicking noise inside my car on the passenger side where my directional relay is, i am afraid this is going to eventually malfunction and i will not have turn signals or any other lights.?

Turn signal indicator clicks when turn signals not in use.

Multifunction switch very expensive to replace flasher relay clicking non stop / apply brakes it stopswhat else is malfunctioning that could be dangerous?other vehicles have been recalled with same issue.please investigate, consumers need repair options that are not excessively costly.

The brake light and turn signal don't work on until you move the turn signal switch down for the left side to work then it works for a brief moment.

Vehicle experiences stalling, after stalling there is a burning smell, dealer has replaced the fuel pump, crank sensor, map sensor, pcm, fuel pump module, vehicle still experiences stalling, consumer feels problem is an electrical problem.ses light flashed at times, dealer replaced coil wire.keyless entry inoperable, dealer replaced receiver, remote module, and reprogrammed transmitters.consumer states vehicle has excessive wind noise on both sides. There is a clunk when backing up and turning left or right.overhead panel goes blank in morning, when first starting vehicle, dash and gauges will not light up, and overhead compass was replaced.consumer states gas mileage is not as good as it used to be.ses light illuminated.

Passlock failurecar will not start and have to wait exactly 10 min and try again.

4-wheel driver failed. Dealerindicatedelectronic module failed.

Lower ball joints wear out prematurely.the consumer stated the vehicle was on its fifth set of lower ball joints and it sixth idler arm. The cruise control was inoperative, the grill guard was loose, the rear differential leaked, the door latch was inoperative, the sending unit was replaced, the battery was replaced, the door was readjusted due to a vibration, the left front hub assembly was replaced, the exhaust made a noise, the tensioner and serpentine belt was replaced, the front axle seal leaked and the intake gasket leaked.

I purchased my 1999 blazer "used" in 5/03, two months later the water pump started leaking horribly, had it replaced.another month later it completely died on my in the middle of morning rush hour, found out that the fuel pump was completely shot, and the battery was not good...at the same time.early last month i was told that the high pressure oil lines were leaking badly, and also that the idler arm on the front right is bad.now as i am researching the chevy blazer more and more, i'm finding out that many consumers are having the same problems in all models.chevrolet should be held responsible for many of these recurring problems, and something needs to be done!

Vehicle fails to start at any given time.when you turn the key it makes absolutley not noise, but the battery works, does not accept a jump.i have been stranded twice, luckily in safe areas. This problem has happened several times. This has caused stress, inconvenience, money, and time, besides aggrevation.

Ac delco battery on a 1999 chevrolet blazer failed in 21 months - leaking battery acid from one of the side terminals.the exact same failure occurred on this vbehicle on 12/3/01. The same battery on this vehicle also failed about 10 months after purchase but actual cause of failure is unknown.service mananger at chevy dealership told me that ac delco had sent representaives around to find out why they were having so many failures of this type with these batteries. Said it is related to heat and only happens in southern states where it gets hottest.ac delco customer service admits nothing of this sort and always blames these failures on overtightening the connections to the terminals.the safety issue is caused by this leaking battery acid and what it will eat into and what kind of problems it will cause.luckily i was able to id the problem and clean up the acid before more serious problems developed.

Battery was leaking acid.i heard this is being investigated for 95-97 models but it happened to my 99.just wanted to make you aware. ****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****724318

Regarding complaint on battery:at 26,000 miles the original battery was replaced.the replacement battery began leaking at approx. 38000 miles; however, battery did not fail until 39000 miles.dealer says since battery was replaced in 36000 mile period, the replacement battery carries no warranty.this doesn't make sense.regarding handles to recline seat back:they both broke off where connected to chair.soft metal used.there was no heavy usage or foce applied.i feel that gm is using inferior parts and materials and seek assistance.

We are insurance company that settled total loss.we are seeking information about reported problems, recalls, tsb's or customer complaints.please advise. No safety defect mentioned.

Vehicle will not engage in park.it has been in the dealershipfour times for the same problem.also, repaired open wire to neutral start switch.

While drivingvehicle will stall abruptly, and will lose all power ,and would not start. Contacted dealer, and dealer statedtherewas ashort in ignition switch.please add vin .

First problem with the starter caused significant inconvenienct.for a vehicle that was brand new and had not even reached the warranty limit, this is extremely frustrating.

My wife, myself, and my 6 week old baby girl were driving back to colorado from iowa where we had spent christmas with our family.the new 99 chevy blazer trailblazer edition that was just one week old to us started acting funny.we we're pulling off on an exit to change the baby and feed her when i noticed my tachometer was jumping up to 4 and 5 k rpm.so i look in my mirrors and notice this white cloud of smoke behind us.no warning lights were on, my temp gauge was reading normal, we had no warning of what was to come.i immediately stopped the vehicle on the side of the road to see if i had blown the tranny or something like that.when i did that, then my check engine light came on and my battery light.i got out of the vehicle only to smell electrical smoke.i got my wife and 6 week old baby out of the vehicle and by the time i looked back the one week old blazer that we had just purchased was in flames!!!when all was said and done the entire engine was a smoldering pile of steel, the dash and steering wheel had melted away, the front seats were 3/4 gone and all of our christmas gifts, baby cloths, toys, luggage, ect, were all severely smoke, fire and water damaged.the vehicle is totaled along with all of our belongings and i had no warning what so ever.

Horn continuously fails to work.1st repair on 8/22 - 2nd on 11/7.they tell me each time they have to reconnect wires in steering wheel.the 3rd fix will cost me ~$379.00 (they said they will not fix it again free - i will have to replace wheel & column)why do the wires keep coming unconnected?it's bad to press the horn and it does not work.

1999 chevrolet s10 blazerstarted vehicle, drove down driveway out on to street. Smelled smoke, returned home. Found back of drivers seat on fire, put out with garden hose. Wiring under drivers seat started on fire? we do not have heated or power seats on vehicle and we don't smoke. Damage was burned seat, carpet, rear floor mat, melted wiring. The vehicle does have the hazard/blinker that turns on intermittently for no apparent reason. Don't know if this is related.

The multi function switch located on the driver's side under the dash is problematic.the failure of the switch results in the rapid clicking noise that can be heard from behind the glove box on the passenger side.this is such a common problem i can not believe there is not a recall.this is the second gm of this model that my family has owned with the same problem.

1999 chevrolet blazer with a v6 engine had a premature engine failure at 87k miles. A hair line crack was discovered in a cylinder using a dye test. The machinist who inspected the engine believes it was created as the result of the corrosive action of coolant used by gm. Chevrolet showed no interest in inspecting the engine. Without the aforementioned, i investigated myself, and can only conclude that a head bolt was not properly sealed during manufacturing, allowing coolant to penetrate the bolt area around the rear cylinder in question. This condition created a weakening of the cylinder wall over time causing the catastrophic failure. I've been communicating with chevrolet for over two years with no success.

While going done the road at 45 mph, suddenly the front passenger wheel came off. Tie rodsand rims weredestroyed.the ball joints were found tobe defective.also, engine was defective, and the vehicle was not running, effectively on3-20-05.

2 months into owning this vehicle the upper console digital temperature read out went bad.upon replacing it twice it is still malfunctioning.they have even replaced the sensor on the front grill to no avail.at one oil change the vehicle was returned to me with a crooked hood.the lock assembly had slid over 1/2 inch.it caused the hood and the fender to meet and the two metals slammed together caused a scratch on both parts in the paint.the lock assembly was returned to it's original position.upon informing the dealer that the vehicle was "slipping" when in gear i was given a verbal driving lesson.i have been driving the chevrolet s-10 blazer since 1992 and this is the 3rd one i have aquired.after bringing in a third party the locking differential, all fluids, and seals were replaced, thus fixing the issue.at 4000 miles my engine "burned out" 3 of 6 fuel injectors with no explaination.i have been made aware of several other vehicles of the same year and model being brought in for the same issues.there are several other small issues, little buttons falling out, cover plates popping out of place, etc. But you do not have a box for these issues.the owner of this dealership is very aware of the issues i have come across as i have been a customer of this dealership for 3 years and have removed 3 vehicles from this dealership.thank you for your time.

After having driven the vehicle for about 2 hours on interstate roads (constantly monitoring the coolant gauge - standard for any trip i take). I stopped to go to the rest room and when i returned and started the vehicle it made a horrible loud metal banging noise.i moved the vehicle to that if it needed to be towed it would be ready.i checked the coolant gauge and it was at the very end of the hot zone, checked the coolant and found almost no coolant in the reservoir.i had to put water in to get it home (another 3 hours on the road). At no time during that trip did the coolant gauge indicate that the vehicle was overheating. I have changed the oil per the recommendation in the owners manual and have done most of the other recommendations and have had no other major issues with the vehicle. On july 12th i had the manifold intake gasket replaced, oil changed and tires rotated in preparation for the trip.

Had to replace engine at 70,000 miles because the intake gaskets broke apart.

Bought new/used 1999 chevrolet blazer from showcase chevrolet in westminster ca.had in possession for about 1 week and then began having radiator/cooling system problems.dealership did not want to correct defect so tried to use lemon law.no one would give me information on general manager. Finally found out who gm was after 3 weeks of hassles.found out that his name was joe perry and that he was on vacation at the time.when he returned i contacted him that day and told him about all my troubles and how the vehicle was obviously defective after being in the shop 2 times in less than a month.he was rude and not helpful what-so-ever with the situation.after being told basically its my problem now, i decided to find out the area managers name and how to contact him/her.called chevrolet customer service number and reported the vehicle problems and the service problems in which i had contacted just trying to fix my defective vehicle.customer service pretended to care but nothing was being done.then i called showcase chevrolet back and talked with mr. Perry once again, and asked him for the name of his area manager.i was told that they were independently owned and they did not have an area manager.i repeated him and made sure they did not have a manager that was higher on the list than mr. Perry himself.i was bluntly told no.i then called customer service and found that they do have an area manager and that showcase thought i wanted to contact him. So instead of telling me that they did have an area manager but i could not contact him myself, he just though it would be better to say that mr. Perry was the head of everything and they had no such thing as an area manager.well now i'm here complaining to the last place i could find.today i heard on the news of this outrages lawsuit with gm and their cooling system and dex-cool. That is what im experiencing with my vehicle.

Consumer stated while driving noticed no heat coming from engine and defroster was not operating.upon inspection, consumer discovered that radiator coolant had turned from liquid to solid.coolant was last changed at 40k miles. Mr

Heater stopped producing heat after 35,000 miles.required an extensive systems flush costing almost $400.six months later, heater core failed causing coolant fumes to be exhausted into the passenger compartment where young children were riding.replacement of heater core cost almost $850.

Engine coolant continues to boil and overheat after having it flushed three times now.same as 10030550.hy isn't someone doing something?we just want our car fixed .see: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/business/5948626.htmhttp://www.nbc4.tv/newslinks/2369813/detail.htmlhttp://www.imcool.com/articles/antifreeze-coolant/dexcool-macs2001.htmhttp://abclocal.go.com/kgo/news/7oys/072503_7oys_dexcool.htmlhttp://www.geocities.com/b_gillie/dexcool_problems.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/gm_dexcool.htmlhttp://forums.vmag.com/suvsuburban0402/messages/1665.html.

Consumer stated that the anti-freeze that chevrolet was using invehicle was turning to sludge after 60,000 miles.this causedthermostatto freeze, andheater to become plugged up. Consumer stated that he was lucky that the thermostat froze in an open position because if it was hot it would have causedvehicle to overheat, and that was dangerous.he thought this was a design problem with chevrolet.

Dex-cool broke down after being in truck for 70,000 miles and less then 5 years.dex-cool is supposed to last 5 years or 150,000 miles.

Coolant system constantly produces redish brown sludge and clogs system.reclining handles broke off both front seats.dt

Seat recliner bracket broke as consumer was adjustingseatback.consumer cannot position seatback for comfort.dealer was notified. Consumer states that the radiator coolant caused radiator to fail.*yd

Cooling system-i replaced the radiator and flushed system. Did not fix problem.leaks oil-inserted die replaced gasket and still leaks.

During maintenance, owner noticed coolant getting dirty. Had it flushed four times. Heater quit working after first flush. Brownish-gray sludge was blocking the heater core. Mechanic stated it was due to a small leak in the intake manifold gasket causing small amounts of dirty air and oil to mix with coolant. Since having gasket replaced, coolant has not gotten dirty again. Vortec engines 1999-2003 were prone to this gasket failure. Dexcool doesn't mix well with dirt or oil.

Purchased used 99 blazer for business use.8 miles from dealers site, the day of purchase, vehicle overheated - 18,200 miles on it.dealer replaced radiator and hoses - full flush of system - refilled with dexcool, at no charge.solidified rusty sludge clogged radiator, heater core, and hoses - had identical problem with 96 blazer.personally replaced dexcool with zerex.independent mechanic has seen 15-18 of these in last two years.

Seat handles kept breaking off. Cooling system makes gurgling sounds and sound like water running. No air conditioning. *la

Cooling system developed a sludge, a 5hr super flush was required costing nearly $400, there is a partial blockage in the heater core and the engine block, there are no guarentees that this will not occur again.chevrolet would not cover.

Dexcool 100000mile antifreze turned to sludge at 53000 miles...2 dealers attributed cause to everything but antifreeze not living up to claims.

100,00 anti-freeze turned to sludge causing engine overheating.required replacement of radiator and all hoses.service advisor stated a known problem with that coolant, and that they recommend coolant system service every 30,000 miles.also state there were no technical service bulletins from gm regarding this issue.repair costs $930.00 plus rental.

Coolant became solid and they charged me $300 to "super flush" the system.i see several other owners have had the same problem.

The vehicle stalled and then caught fire.the fire department extinguished the fire.please provide further details.

While driving 45 mph engine failedand security light stayed on.

I discovered oil leaking from my 99 chevy blazer recently.i took it to my local independent mechanic and they informed me that i have two faulty oil cooling lines that must be replaced.upon further investigation, i have discovered though several local dealerships and several internet web sites, that this is a very very common problem with 99 chevy blazers.i contacted gm customer service but they told me there is no current recall for this defect.since this is such a common problem and costs several hundred dollars in repair to remedy, i would like to petition this for a manufacturers recall.

While driving, the vehicle stalled and caught on fire.

The contact owns a 1999 chevrolet blazer.while depressing the brake pedal at 5 mph, the vehicle surged forward without warning.the mechanic was unable to diagnose the cause of failure.the contact stated that she experienced the same failure immediately after leaving the mechanic.the vehicle was taken to another mechanic who stated that the multi-port fuel injection system needed to be replaced.he replaced the part, but the failure continued.the mechanic stated that the vehicle may need to have its spark plugs replaced or cleaned.the spark plugs have not been replaced.approximately three days later, the vehicle failed to start.the mechanic stated that the multi-port fuel injection was defective and replaced the unit, but the failure continued.the vehicle surged forward and became increasingly worse.the current mileage is 150,000 and failure mileage was 130,000.

I had valve noise and took to local dealer to check.dealer called and told me it needed a valve job. After the valve job dealer told me there was noise in lower part of engine and thought the motor needed to be replaced.this 1999 blazer has 68,000 miles on it.i feel gm should cover part of this expense. Dealer would not help with this.

After noticing that i was loosing anifreeze in my vehicle, i recently had to replace the intake gaskets in my 1999 chevy blazer. It has just over 40,000 miles. After doing research, i've found out that this is a commom problem w/ the gm vehicles and that there are thousands of people who have had to spend hundreds of dollars in repairs to have this fixed. It conveniently happens just after the warrenty period has expired. This is clearly unfair to the consumer and i would like to know why gm has not been forced to correct this problem.

Oil lines leaking, vehicle has only 30,000 miles.

When driving at any speed vehicle stalls/cuts off without prior warning.

When the air conditioner compressor is running there is a noticeable loss of power. When accellerating from a stop it is necessary to increase the pressure on the gas pedal to compensate for the loss of power if the compressor cycles on.if the compressor cycles off during acceleration you need to let up on the gas pedal to compensate for the increase of power. The dealer has been made aware of the problem and have tried to repair the problem but now claim this is normal for this vehicle. I have owned two other blazers and they did not have this problem.i also have driven another 1999 blazer and it did not display this problem.this vehicle is not safe to drive.i has been necessary to turn off the a/c in traffic.any help you may be able to give me on this matter would be greatly appreciated.i plan to file for arbitration with the bbb as per the manufactures warranty.

In 2003, the engine light came on, the air pump, breather, hose and fuse kit needed to be replaced, i paid out of my own pocket for this repair. In 2004, the service engine light came on, the same items needed to replaced and again the dealership wantedme to pay over $600 for service when last year it was over $300. I have replaced both upper and lower ball joints because of cracking noise, everytime i turned left. I replaced the hubs, because a cracking noise. Chevrolet and the dealership were no help, other than they agreed to pay half for air pump repair. Both didn't care for my situation. I was told by the representative from chevrolet that my next purchase on a gm product get the extended warranty, because gm makes "junk", so protect yourself! nice attitude!

Vehicle hesitated and stalled intermittently without warning. Dealer has replaced ignition wiring/harness wiring ,andcatalytic converter twice. Please provide further information.

Ignition coil and module burned up on freeway causing engine to shut off parts replaced picked up car and went for a drive started having engine problems missfiring etc. Pulled off freeway had car towed back to shop.catilic converter completely plugged.

Many problems were identified to the dealer at the time of purchase. I was told that all items would be corrected. To date about 50% of these have been corrected after many attempts by me to get satisfaction with the dealer. I have attempted to contact the manufacturer but have been unsuccessful in my attempts to get by their customer satisfaction staffs. They refer me back to the dealer. Many illegal and improper actions were taken by this dealer during and after the time of purchase. My satisfaction and safety are at risk with this vehicle as the rear window assembly does not seat properly. Constant air flow at this window and around the doors is creating an unsafe environment within the vehicle. I believe that carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide fumes are entering the vehicle at these points. My family finds that they experience severe and numerous headaches, burning eyes, etc. When in the vehicle. It is also creating a noise hazard within the vehicle as the air currents are consistant at all speeds.

While driving down the road approaching a stop light my wife tried to stop and the brakes just made that abs buzzing noise and was not stopping. This was caused by the wheel bearing abs sensor being bad not the wheel bearing itself this should not be able to happen as it is a danger/accident waiting to happen!

Seat handles kept breaking off. Cooling system makes gurgling sounds and sound like water running. No air conditioning. *la

The air conditioning compressor was replaced by the dealer on friday june 25. After the repair the vehicle was driven approximately 20 miles that day. On the following day the vehicle was driven an additional 25 miles and returned home. After leaving the vehicle parked in my driveway, i was summoned from my home by a neighbor who reported that the vehicle was on fire. We extinguished the fire in the engine compartment and had the dealer remove the vehicle for repair. The dealer informed me that the fire was not caused by their repair. Damage to the under hood equipment required $ 4,500 in repairs.the repair work took over four weeks.

The air conditioner has failed repeatedly since about 35,000 miles; simon motors, an authorized chevrolet dealership and service center, has repaired it four times.they report there is a leak somewhere in the system and that it is leaking freeon (sp?) "but they cannot find it."most recently, they replaced the compressor, but the problem persists.after running cool for a time, the air conditioner begins blowing hot air.this is usually accompanied by a concentration of moisture in the air inside the vehicle, often with a foul odor.are we in danger of any toxic exposure from this leak?what other reports of chevy air conditioners do you have on file?it gets extremely hot here in the desert and this problem needs to get fixed, but it is not being fixed.please advise.

'99 blazer zr2 my daughters first car, she paying for herself. Has the most annoying blinker noise under passenger side dash. In research have found that 100s of other people are having the same very expensive fix. It consists of a multifunction switch with the cost of upto $700. I feel that chevrolet (gmc) should be responsible for some of this repair--it obviously is a problem with a design or a defected part. If you check the internet it is just loaded with people dealing with this. In addition to this that same year blazer seems to have some transmission problems and bearings at the 70,000 mil range.....something isn't right here. We just did the bearings for the $400 price tag. Please help this young girl, she is trying to the right thing, lets help her do it.

Turn signal indicator clicks when turn signals not in use.

Standard daytime running light were not installed because manufaturer felt they were too close to the turn signal which would confuse motorist which lights were being used.nlm

Consumer advised that the vehicle's head, tail and interior lights will brighten and dim without warning while driving.finally on 11-4-02 all vehicle lights failed completely. Ts

The multi-function switch in my 1999 chevy blazer ls is malfunctioning.during driving, the blinker sound is constantly clicking whether or not i am making a turn or enabling my safety hazard lights.when i apply the brakes on the car, the clicking sound temporarily stops.when i drive again, the clicking sound starts again.this malfunction gives the driver the false indication that their turn signals is on, when it is actually not on, and can cause an accident.

I have a 1999 chevy blazer with 89,000 miles and it seems the multi function switch is failing.my turn signal beeping does not turn off when i not using the turn signal.i heard this also will eventually cause a delay with the turn signal that could eventually be a safety issue.

I have 2 blazers 1999 and both have the same problem a failing multi function switch that makes an annoying constant clicking sound that come from behind the glove box. I had one repaired last year that cost me over 600$ and now my other blazer is having the me the same problem .the part they have change isthe arm for the flasher right /left in witch includes the cruise control high beam light.

Vehicle lighting system, including dash, interior lights, head lights, etc, will blink erradically.the manufacturer is aware of the problem, and has indicated that it could be the abs system malfunctioning, or something else, they are unsure.i have contacted gm on several occasions for updates.they provide nothing.

Multi function switch on 1999 blazer just cost us $591.23 to fix and is recalled on other year models.

The multi function switch located on the driver's side under the dash is problematic.the failure of the switch results in the rapid clicking noise that can be heard from behind the glove box on the passenger side.this is such a common problem i can not believe there is not a recall.this is the second gm of this model that my family has owned with the same problem.

The contact owns a 1999 chevrolet blazer. The contact stated that his brake lights have failed to operate normally. The dealer advised the contact that the hazard switch needed to be replaced. There were no related recalls or warranties. The failure mileage was 95,506.

The turn signal, hazard light andbrake light engaged prematurely due to a malfunction within multi-function switch.this occurred without warning and could cause an accident.*scthe manufacturer issued a recall, however the consumers year of vehicle was not included.

1999 chevrolet blazer ls: approximately 120,000 miles (4-door /4wd)constant turn signal/hazard relay while vehicle is running. Odi id# 10043711the multi-function switch seems to be the source as seen in many on-line forums/discussion groups.most are dated, 2001-2003 time frame.i am just wondering if any resolution has been made for this issue. I am in the process of getting the vehicle looked at, while at the shop i was asked by the dealer to use opportunity to add my complaint to the odi id# 10043711 issue.

There is a constant blinking noise coming from my glove box. When pressing on the break it quits. By looking up information on the internet i found out it is the multifunction switch. There were recalls on other years but not 1999 blazers. Its very expensive to fix.there was one on 1998 blazers i believe. I have a 99 chevy blazer. Has happened since i bought it.

The hazard warning switch has a defect which causes the hazard flasher to function while riding down the road.the lights do not come on, but you can here the flasher clicking, and it gets worse over time.the potential exists for the switch to reach the point where the hazard flashers come on during normal driving.

1999 chevrolet blazer 2wd / 4 door bought used 5/2004.sudden onset of uncontrollable "clicking" of turn signal flasher unit / controller switch. This has continued for the last month. Smoke was recently produced from steering column.turn signal noise is not only annoying, it is distracting and potentially unsafe, especially when driving in traffic near crowded intersections. I havebeen informed that 2000-2002 blazers have been recalled for signal controller problems, but not 1999. Gm holds that the malfunctioning signal controller is not a safety problem, i disagree.

The only continuing problem is this: most cars have a few items that are typical failure points, and we've found one. The combination switch (turn signal, cruise, wiper/washer, flasher) on the blazer is at the top of the list. We've found that it's very common for the flasher relay (under the dash, right side) to start clicking endlessly and audibly while no lights are flashing. Turns out the blazers combination switch is the problem. It's usually either failure in the turn signal stalk, or contact problems with the emergency flasher switch mounted on top of the steering column. If you remove the shroud, you'll find the switch assembly and turn signal stalk must be replaced as a unit. I don't know dealer prices, but the part on the aftermarket starts about $140 and goes up to $250 or so depending on the specific model and options (tilt, cruise, etc). Labor will add at least another hour if you can't tear down the steering column far enough to do it yourself. This problem is so common that it's a topic of discussion on blazer and s10 discussion boards, but don't expect a dealer adjustment. If it happens to you, expect to pay for a repair. In some cases owners have been able to spray generous amounts of contact cleaner into the switch and stop the relay clicking, but it's a very hit-or-miss proposition and you have to be lucky to avoid replacing the switch. However, if this is the biggest problem you ever have with the vehicle, life isn't that bad!also this same switch causing the brake lights to not work.similar to what has been already recalled for the 2000-2002 blazers.i have no brake lights and it will cost me $300 to repair due to a faulty switch.

Floor vents under dashboard put out very hot air, when controls are set to off.also, daytime running lights do not have an override switch, which would allow the driver to turn lights off. *cj

While driving withheadlights on,instrument lights and the headlights would go off withoutprior warning. Thiscould happen from time to time.

Daytime running lamps were standard safety feature. Began working intermittenly, took to ealer for sevice. They disconnected, gmc rep said would not fix due to egineered improperly at factory.

Daytime running lamps are listed on the invoice as a safety feature and dealer states that they were removed by general motors and not to be activated, even though dealer has attempted to do so.

Dt: the contact complained aboutmultiple problems with thisvehicle.the4-wheel drive actuation motor was replaced.the heater core became blocked and was flushed by the dealer.the steering box and pitman armwere replaced.also, the front wheel bearings were replaced. The headlightsbecame dim. The rear windshield wiper stopped working.the dealer performed numerous repairs, and couldnot offer an explanation as to why these problems occurred at such low mileage.the vehicle is remainedat the dealer awaiting repairs on the rear windshield wiper.also, replaced loose front hubs.

When turning in either direction the turn signals continued to flash aftera complete turn. Please provide additional information.

Problem with lane change feature in turn signal switch.lane change signal will operate front or rear signal indicator indepentalty or just give audio acknowledge for flash with no indicators illuminated.in many cases the only indication is the flasher will flash at a more rapid rate. Many gm cars and trucks have this problem and it is very dangerous because the operator does not know that an indicator is not illuminated because the dash indicator is operating and one or more outside (front or rear) indicators will not be operating.

Following is part of the background first submitted 9/6 to chevy for a major safety issue with our 1999 blazer ... Closely related to a recent gm recall for faulty hazard and turn signal lights.our hazard/blinker flasher just started (9/1) turning on/clicking intermittently for no apparent reason ... Doing so randomly about half the time.this concerns us for our safety ... As we are now constantly making both kinds of major safety errors that can happen with this defect: we frequently think the blinkers are on for a turn were making, when in reality they are not, but the flasher is clicking just like they are on, so we wrongly think they are on.the other error is that we have accidentally turned the blinkers on and don't realize it since the flashing noise is happening so much. The major reason for our concern is a statement from our local chevy service tech around our exact issue ... As our exact concerns/issues stem from a well known/documented safety issue with blazers (per the words of our chevy service tech around our exact issue, & this has been a big/major problem with blazers & ... And '90% of the time a defective multi-function switch/contacts is responsible for the identical symptoms we were experiencing', and indeed unique to chevy/gmc.)given how emphatic/honest the service tech was with us,you should be able to readily substantiate his statement through chevy's records around repairs for this problem.as such, our safety issue is clearly:a well known/documented safety design issue with blazers, and related to the recent safety recall for gm flashers; with our blazer only a year off of the recalled vehicle age; unique to chevy, and as such, not 'normal wear/tear that should be expected'). We very much appreciate the opportunity to forward our concerns to your agency, and look forward to hearing from you on your latitude to pursue this further after continual rejections from chevy.thank you in advance.

The multifunction switch has malfunctioned and caused a ticking under the dashboard.

Consumer states almost rear ended when brake lights were inoperative. Third light works but other two work on and off.dealer found multifunction switch is shorted out.

Signal switch located behind glove box clicks erratically - this is the 2 nd time since i have owned the vehicle that this has happened - the first time was a $400 repair bill...i think i will try to let it drive me absolutely crazy before replacing it this time.

No events just after i have been driving a while every day all lights including dash flicker and then when i shut off fuel pump won't pump up. This happens once a day and will not restart till next day.

My blazer has stalled repeatedly during the six months i have owned it.there appear to be no commonalities between the incidents.sometimes it's in an intersection.at other times i'm driving.at other times i am sitting in park.this is a major safety hazard, and my dealership has still not isolated the problem, although it has already been in at least four times for this.they did replace a fuel pump the last time, but that apparently wasn't the problem.

(1) i purchased the used 1999 chevrolet blazer from quirk chevrolet in quincy, ma in june 2003. I was under a 30 day warranty if there was strictly anything wrong to bring it back to them to be fixed. The problem with the gas guage started in the winter of '03-'04.(2) when the gas level would fall below the half mark line it would stop reading the correct level. The needle on the guage will tick back and forth bouncing from empty to full randomly, it will do this alot especially when the car was parked and running. I have ran out of gas twice on the highway due to this.(3) after doing some research this is quite a common problem with these models. Not only familliar problems, but the sam exact problems. I have a friend who drives a 2001 gmc jimmy, which is essentially the same body, who has the same problem. When i contacted gm they have not recalled this, and are charging $400 for the part, not including the money for labor.

Dt:the contact complained aboutmultiple problems.while driving at 40 mph on a damp road the driver's side wheel cameoff.he was able to steer the vehicle safely to the curb.the vehicle was towed to a mechanic, who replaced the upper ball joint on the driver's side and realigned the wheels.later, he heard a grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle.the mechanic determined thatthe other ball joints needed to be replaced.however, they have not been replaced. Also, the windshield fogged up.the mechanic stated the heater corebroke and the coolant was leaking.the heater core was replaced. N addition, the vehiclehad problems starting.the mechanic had to replace the fuel pump and fuel injector.the starting problem has not returned.

While driving 45 mph vehicle stalled. This caused consumer to drift to the side of the road.consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer, andmechanicdetermined that the fuel pumpfailed. Mechanic will replace the fuel pump.

Dealer stated on 9/26/200 that fuel pump was faulty.replaced this...auto still did not work.dealer stated maybe a faulty fuel pump was sent, ordered a 2nd, put this one in.again, auto did not run.after the 1st one was installed, vehicle was released to me, 1.5 hours later, i was again stranded.dealership said it was a cpi, something within the fuel injector system.that was replaced.it wasn't the problem.they finally stated it was 3 injectors within this unit.those were replaced and my vehicle returned to me.auto was in theshop from 9/26/2000 until 10/10/2000.on 10/12/2000, on route 33 westbound, my accerlerator stuck, my brakes did not work, vehicle was doing 95 mph.i gained control of vehicle and got it stopped.it was towed from logan, ohio to columbus where i leased it from.as of right now, it's driveable, but not fixed.the dealership did secure the cruise control cable away from accerlerator so that i could drive it.i had to pay for a rental from 9/26/2000-10/10/2000.they refused to give me a loner car or rental from them. I am still afraid to drive this, i've had too much bad luck the last few weeks with it.i'm fighting with gm to be reimbursed for the rental, total amount is $533.i would like to get out of this lease, have my lease transferred to something else.as far as i know, there are no recalls on the 1999 chevrolet blazers, but i would like to know if there is any.it just seems its falling apart on me!!

When filling completelygas tank with fuel there is a very strongodor within the passenger compartment. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer unable to determine the cause.

Here is a fuel smell in cab of vehicle afterfilling fuel tank.

When fuel tank is below a half of tank vehicle shuts down. First time it broke down at a stop light. The second time at 45 miles at black mountain of asherill, the third time 221 south with a trailer land of wooden pallets.dealer notified.

Vehicle would not start.the vehicle was towed to a independent repair shop. Fuel pump and sending unit had melted.fuel pump and the sending unit were replaced. Dealer and manufcturer have been notified.

Low fuel light came on and gas indicator was on 'e'.diagnosis: fuel pump shorted out.this left my wife and i stranded in nc for 1 day.

When putting gas into vehicle andafter getting back intovehicle, consumer can smell gas fumes.they usally stay in vehicle for a few minutes. Contacted dealer, and the dealer replaced a canister, but the problem still exits.

On several occasions upon filling fuel tank with gas, smell continues to enter into vehicle, took vehicle to dealer.dealer tightened loose gas cap, advised consumer not to continue filling vehicle after pump clicks off, replaced evaporative canister and evaporative vent solenoid, fuel tank module, removed left quarter trim and sealed, removed fuel tank sender, and filler tube assembly, diagnosed fuel and exhaust system, dealer found body seams in filler tube assembly leaking fumes, cause still unknown, dome light stays on all the time, dealer replaced right and left door jam switches, heating and air conditioning now hot at times or too hot, dealer replaced rad cap and polished neck, serpentine belt noisy, replaced serpintine belt, wipers won't clear and are noisy, replaced wiper inserts.

No summary listed for above vehicle.

Once again, vehicle stopped running and low fuel light came on and gas indicator was on 'e'. Diagnosis: fuel pump shorted out. This left my wife and i stranded for the entire weekend.

Vehicle is sold as having 18 gallon tank. When gauge is on empty (and low fuel warning is on) takes only 13 gallons to fill tank. Dealer has previously replace fuel sensor. I suspect vehicle has 15 gallon tank.

Oil lines are leaking.seems this is a very big problem with gm over the past decade.why has there never been a recall for this problem..and why are the newer models (after 2000)coming out with the same defect ?!

1999 chevrolet s-10 blazer: design flaw. The fuel gauge sending unit is made as one assembly with the fuel pump. The sending unit goes bad, but fuel pump is still in good operating condition. The cost of replacement is $600. The sending unit and fuel pump should be separate units. As my fuel gauge is not reading correctly, i must keep up with my miles driven by the odometer.

Gas sending gauge is irratic, causing me the inability to know how much gas i have. This is a very serious problem which i understand is very costly. According to the several mechanics that i obtained anestimate from this is not an isolated incident. They were all very much aware of this defect in the chevy blazer.

The fuel gauge stopped working and/or started fluctuating.it didn't show how much fuel was left in the tank and still doesn't.i was on the interstate and ran out of gas, luckily i made it to the shoulder and wasn't hit.now it still doesn't work and shows either a full tank or completely empty all the time.

Fuel gauge does not work. This occurred at about 40,000 miles. Ultimately has resulted in running out of gas twice. Apparently, the fuel sending unit and fuel pump are an integral system, costing anywhere from $400 to $600 to repair.

My car has had two recliner mechanizms break in 2 years.my security lights come on for no reason,my paint is checking and peeling.now it appears that my control arm and lower ball joint were failing at 85,000 miles.at about 70,000 miles my 4wheel drive would slip in and out at freeway speed.i have a 1999 chevy blazer,4dr, completely maintained and driven with care.

While driving withheadlights on,instrument lights and the headlights would go off withoutprior warning. Thiscould happen from time to time.

Both the driver side door and front passenger side doors, door bushings went out, causing the doors to droop and cause damage to the frame latch...attempt to fix the problem was unsuccessful. The bushings need replaced and welding work needs to be done on the frame.

My mechanic said that the door latch can break because of the door hinges or something like that because the door does not close easily and you can see where there is damage to the latch on the door jam.

The metal behind the "hook" on the frame where the driver's door latch cracked, causing severe rattling and running risk of the door opening unintentionally.the door hinges and the hook had to be replaced and the frame welded at a cost of more than $500.the vehicle had less than 45,000 miles when the problem first occurred.

I have a 1999 chevy blazer that the drivers side door has weakened, and slipped down about an inch. This makes the door extremly hard to close since you need to lift up on it.

While driving tailgate hatch will fall open on its own without being released. Dealer has been contacted.

The parking brake does not hold, even after adjustment.the dealer admits that the parking brake on the blazer does not work and says that is the way they are built.the parking brake will not hold the blazer at all, it is all most like you did not set the parking brake.

The speedometer and rpm will start spinning around out of control making it impossible to know the speed you're going.the car dealer has been unable to state a cause.this has been happening every other day now.it starts for no reason and then stops.

Transmission failure at 39,400 miles, requiring a complete rebuild.vehicle would not shift into reverse at all, and shifting to 3rd and 4th gears became extremely sluggish.dealership diagnosed a broken sun shell and that several clutch packs had gone out.this vehicle has been well maintained and has never towed anything.the dealership offered to split the repair cost 50/50, but i felt that more was warranted given the low mileage of the vehicle.gm refused to provide any additional assistance.

Transmission was replaced twice before this third failure.failed at 200 miles, 5000 miles and again at 5600 miles.

Transmission was replaced at 26378 problems continue. Vehickle does not want to shift into second gear, without revving the engine causing not only unsafe shifting, but poor fuel economy.after replacement of original transmission, problem appears worse than ever.

My husband's was driving his 2000 chevy blazer (52,000 mi) out of a parking lot when he heard a bump and his transmission fell out of gear, from then on the car would not go in reverse. We spent $2,200.00 for a new transmission. A year i am driving my 1999 chevrolet blazer (56,000 mi.) up hill on a one lane, (each way) curvyroad and i hear a bang and grinding noise and, surprise,no more reverse. Coincidence - i think not. We had to get out and stop traffic to try to manually turn the car around so we could drive back forwad. Very dangerous situation.

Intermittently when vehicle is in drive it will operate like it's in a lower gear. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem.

While driving gears popped out of place andclutch was very stiff which could cause a crash. Vehicle been to dealer 3 times, but they were unable to find the problem. *ml

Transmission failure - vehicle will no move in reverse - transmission squeals, transmission will not shift until engine reaches at least 3000rpm even under no pressure. Transmission drops into neutral after foot is taken from accellerator.

1999 chevy blazer transmission slips.the vehicle had 101635 miles when purchased and has only been driven an additional 21604 in the last 2 1/2 years.

No summary listed for abov evehicle.

Vehicle will not engage in park.it has been in the dealershipfour times for the same problem.also, repaired open wire to neutral start switch.

This just started one day when we were coming back into town. The car has never been crashed. If you drive around town i drives fine but once you accelerate above 55 mph something causes the transmission to slip from 1st to 2nd gear. After about an hour the transmission will work fine. I know another person whose chevy blazer did the same thing.

Transmission problems with only 52,237 miles on vehicle. Chevy basically says it's not their problem until a recall is issued.three local garages in our area all report the same thing to us... The transmissions are junk!

Automatic transmission failure:1) normal highway driving conditions, not towing, 87k miles2) hesitating/problems shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, "service engine soon" light on3) mechanic says new transmission needed, $2000*la

1999 chevy blazer transmission problems.reverse gear just stops working with no warning.

Transmission valve is sticking which causes the check engine light to come on. Dealer notified.

At take off, the vehicle jumps before accelerating.this was reported to the dealer after purchased.was told it was probably the way that i accelerated.another driver experienced the same problem in my vehicle.

I am in the process of having my transmission rebuilt.my blazer has <75,000 miles, with no leaks or any indication there was a problem.i was backing out of my driveway and heard a very loud thump.i got out to see if i ran over something (like my cat), nothing was there so i got back in and tried to continue backing up but the blazer would not move.

While at a dead stop consumer can hear chattering and vibration. Then it's fine. Took to amechanic who said the driveline is vibrating up and down, and transmission is slipping.

Automatic transmission failed at 49,026 miles.while driving and applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, there is an audible sound of a gear "free wheeling".the transmission hesitates to shift gears when traveling forward.although the gear shift level can be placed into reverse, the vehicle will not move in reverse.lindsay chevrolet (dealer where i purchased the vehicle 3 years, 2-1/2 months ago) conducted a preliminary diagnosis that involved no computer check, but based on the evident noise and performance of the transmission recommended replacement of the transmission.beginning at 28,805 miles, this vehicle also experienced a recurring oil leak from the lower oil line/oil line adapter that took the dealer four attempts over four months to identify and repair.the right hub assembly also burned out at 38,190 miles.ts

I have a 1999 chevy blazer...the automatic transmission has a 1st - 2nd shift problem or defect after some highway driving on very warm or hot days...i nearly rear-ended another vehicle...several transmission shops said it's a very common problem with my car or trans...trouble code was 1870...some want to replace torque converter, clutch, rebuild trans $$$...i heard that chevy is well aware of the problem and that a "shift kit update" would fix it...do you have any info on this matter ?..thanks !

The transmission went out for the second time.it now has 46,200 miles. The first time it went out it had 13,000 miles.several problems with the seat back adjustors. The cast gearbroke on each seat at least twice.

1999 blazer under 60k, have replaced both front wheel hub bearing, oil cooler lines, front seat recliner handle, condensate water leaks onto floor when vehicle is in motion. Have read same problem on complaint web-site. Why no action by gm?

Have a 99 blazer,2 wd. The recliner handle broke off the first week i owned it( my kid broke it by simply touching it!) vehicle had 32000 mi at the time. Have not fixed it because of cost.since then i have discovered an oil leak on the oil line cooler,a $300 fix(to repair both lines),and to top things off i'm being told that the intake gasket has the potential of giving way. I have 58000mi on this vehicle so far. Have been told that the s-10 blazer are notorious for these problems, and so far g.m. Has no recall on any of it. Incendently a mechanic i know has a s-10 blazer similar to mine, his oil lines leaked, and finally blew, costing him a new engine. Mine haven't blown -----yet. I can still drive it, but it worries me. I've been a g.m. Fan for many yrs. But this crazy blazer is starting to make me reconsider what my next vehicle will be. Can anything be done about this????? thanks.

While driving or at a stop the vehicle will kick itself into four wheel drive. When it does that vehicle is very hard to control. Contacted dealer, and dealer can't find what is wrong withvehicle.

Four-wheel light illuminated on dashboard, four wheel drive did not function.consumer was informed by mechanic that the problem is the 4-wheel drive sensor motor. *mj

Gear shift interlock was defective form assembly. Child was able to get vehicle out of park with out depressing brake pedal. This was confirmed by dealer vehicle was parked on a hill. Vehicle was placed into neutral and rolled back twenty five feet into a tree.

I was driving down the road when the engine light came on. The blazer began shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear very hard. I experienced loss of power and had to shut the vehicle off in the middle of an intersection. A diagnostics test showed a p1870 code. I have had the problem checked by a mechanic, who states that my torque convertor and the clutches will need to be replaced, as well as a switch, to the cost of $2000. After reading numerous other complaints similar or identical in nature, i wonder if perhaps it is a manufacturer defect or design problem? one of the mecahnics i spoke with said that chevrolet blazers are notorious for this problem.

Consumer took vehicle in for clunking noises.dealer came back withball joint and axle needing to be replaced.dealeris getting together with district manager in that area to start recall.dealership is trying to send back every ball jointand axle. Noise is coming frompassenger's front side.axle has a clamp that's not self adjusting, a machine is needed. Grease is leaking out of axle.ball joints have to play. If repaireddealer saidproblem will reoccur later on.

Consumer tookvehicle in for repairs, andmechanic told him thatfront passenger axle bearing hook had a lot of play and wore out. Mechanic had to replace the part.dealershipwas aware ofproblem.

Leaking trans axle fluid out of front axle (seals defective).

Noise when turning to left.dealer reported right front hub bearing assembly worn and noisy, needing replacement.

The front hub assemblies are both in need of replacement, but they cannot be purchased anywhere in our area, except at dealerships for 3 times the auto cash and carry stores. We feel that the year and miles on the blazer are not consistant with having the bearings go bad...on both sides. Chevrolet is of no help to us. This is the third major repair to the vehicle since we purchased it. Two days after purchase the service light came on, and stayed on. That was secondary air pump failure, and cost $241.51 to repair. Two days later it was back on. We also had to replace severly pitted rotors within the first 4 months of ownership. Any help with these hub assemblies would be greatly appreciated. We feel we have purchased a "lemon"and heinrich motors is of absolutely no help in resolving the matter.

While driving gears popped out of place andclutch was very stiff which could cause a crash. Vehicle been to dealer 3 times, but they were unable to find the problem. *ml

Front passengers seat belt is faulty!i was in a collision and rear ended by another driver.my mother was with me and in the passenger seat.her seat belt at the shoulder did not lock and as a result she was thrown forward, causing a torn rotator cuff.she has doctors documents to back this up.surgery was scheduled with no advail.we had other complications arise and the doctor canceled surgery in the operating prep. I have a 1999 chevrolet blazer.on three separate occasions overthe past two years, i have had to replace the rear seatbelts due to problems with the belts not retracting.the failures of these seat belts has caused me to be unable to secure a car seat in the rear of the car.general motors has charged me for the repairs to the seat belts.given that three of the seat belt assemblies required replacement in the past two years, i feel that there is a design or other defect with the belts that should be investigated.i do not know how significant the problem may be, but if it has happened to me on three occasions in two years, it may be a widespread problem.i ask that you look into it.

We've had numerous problems with the same dealership in getting our vehicle repaired.we feel this is a safety issue, because if your seat can't be adjusted properly you can be injured by the air bag, and also you can't adjust your seat to gain clear visibility.this is the third time in a little over a year we've had this part break, and every time we try to get it fixed there is always a few days of delay and they don't give a loaner car because they say it's driveable.

Driver seat recliner handle broke off. Looks like junk metal was used. I consider this a safety hazard since the seat position could have the driver in the wrong postion in the event the air bags were deployed.

After a day of driving this rental car, moderate acceleration caused the driver's seat to travel to its rear limit. The latching mechanism seemed ok from that time onward.

Seat recline levers snapped off without warning. These units are made from zinc die casting and should have not been used. Can anything be done about this????? thanks.

There were other parts of it that either broken or were breaking.

When reclining driver's seat, the metal post holding the adjustment handle broke off.had to drive home with seat in reclining position for my husband to fix.he had to use a wrench to raise seat back up.he said the bolts are made out of cheap pot metal and that's why they don't last.the post on the passenger side broke several years ago.we rarely adjust the seat backs.guess we won't at all now.the driver's side door won't close properly and the fuel gauge bounces between full and empty all the time.

The handles for the front seat recliners break without warning. It appears they are make of pot metal. Dealers will not replace, saying it's wear and tear, even though when first reported it was in warranty. Seats can now recline without warning.

The levers which raise and lower the seatbacks are made of an inferior metal and have broken completely off three times.my chevrolet service rep. I have a 1999 blazer on which both handles for the recliner seats in the front broke off after just 30,000. My wife drives the blazer ... I drive a suburban. I am just amazed at the inferior quality of the metal used, and it's understandable that the metal would have broken by anyone. My wife is petite and there's no way she did anything beyond what a normal person would do in adjusting their seats. What further amazes me is pulling up the internet site and seeing the huge number of complaints regarding the same issue.it appears that the only way to get anyone's attention is to contact an attorney friend of mine here locally who successfully caused one auto company to repaint thousands of vehicles several years ago because the manufacturer just wouldn't response to a lot of customer complaints.at a price in excess of $300 to repair or replace with the same quality metal, and the fact that i just printed 15 complaints from just one internet site, there may actually be thousands similar situations which would make for an interesting class-action suit, particularly with the punitive damages tacked on. And this case would be clearly straight forward ... That metal rods shouldn't break in an auto that's less then four years old.how do consumers get satisfaction without trying to consolidate and have class-action suits filed. Obviously, the customer complained who had the same issuehad absolutely no success in dealing with the manufacturer or their representatives. Is this the only alternative we have - class-action lawsuits?

Driver side recliner that adjustsseathandle was gone.passenger side came off 37000 miles.consumer feels this is very unsafe. And there may be a defect in handles.please add information.

Applied brakes & pedal suddenly started sinking to the floor. Was able to stop due to slow speed. Scared me to death & nearly hit a car. If happened on freeway it could have killed someone. Later found that a rear driver side steel brake line mounted metal on metal, hard to find behind wheel well & on frame, had rusted through. All others near it are also in equally bad condition. No moving part to wear out & there's no excuse for such cheapness on such a safety related item.

Brakes failed, pedal went to floor, upon inspection found lines rusted in rear.

I am shocked to find out that there are so many other people having problems with the abs brakes and the front end ball joints. I am actually afraid to drive my blazer after reading about the problems. I live in a small town in the mountains and have to drive mountain roads and along a river to get to a bigger city. I average about once a month this trip and if i my blazer was to have a wheel fall off because of a bad ball joint system i and maybe others would be dead or seriously hurt.i have over the years replaced my ball joints several times as they keep going bad, much more than just normal wear it appears. I also have for the last 6 months or so have had the abs light come on and the abs brakes come into play when slowing down or coming to a stop on dry roads. There are times the light is on when i first start my blazer and haven't even moved yet.a mechanic that looked at it said that it appeared that the sensor would need replacing. I did not have it done as it was going to be several hundred dollars for the repair. What does it take to have a recall? how can people tell you of the problems they too are having, when these problems are not publicly announced and they have no idea that it is not just their vehicle. Like me, i had no idea there were these problems going on for other people too. Like i said i now am afraid about having a major accident because of the ball joint/suspension problem that is talked about on this website.i can not afford to buy a new vehicle.can't we get help before someone has to be hurt or killed?

The abs systemm is not working and the is a short in the front end,..causing the battery to die. Amazingly after the battery was removed from the vehicle the lights on the bumper that are supposed to light up the liceness plate was still on. Long with other lights under the hood. How is this possible.,,unless there is an alternate power source that i was never made aware of. The is police documitaton on this.

There was a manufacturer's recall in august20, 1999 for 2000 chevy blazers:the brake pipe union fittings that feed the various brake system components may leak and cause a loss of braking function and need an additional stopping time. Dealers will inspect the brake pipe union for signs of leaking brake fluid and replace the union if necessary. Our vehicle is a 1999 blazer that appears to have the same problem, but chevrolet claims there wasn't a recall issued for our vehicle. We think it should have been included. Our vehicle doesn't stop when the brakes are applied, but needs a longer stopping time and distance. It is an unsafe condition.original recall from the nhtsamanufacturer's report date:august 20, 1999nhtsa campaign id number:99v220000

Abs engage early due to corrosion build up on abs sensors. Causes extreme stopping time when 10 miles an hour or less. Contacted gm any help refused, said problem due to weather conditions in area

I have a1999 cheverlot blazer,it was very dangerous the front right tire was falling off.i stopped when i heard the noise, and had the car towed.if i had not stopped when i did i would have been in a accident with my young daughter.when i took it back to the dealer they also told me that the left tire was dangerous and needed to be fixed>it cost me 1200.00 and i feel my car is a lemon and i would like some type of reimbursement.

The contact owns a 1999 chevrolet blazer. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph and coming to a stop, the brakes would not engage properly, causing an increase in stopping distance and time. The abs warning light also illuminated at the time of the failure. The dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 05v379000(service brakes, hydraulic:antilock) but did not receive confirmation of whether the vehicle was included in the recall. The failure and the current mileage was unknown.

On saturday, july 3, 2010 my 1999 chevy blazer front and rear brakes failed due to excessive corrosion. Lucky no one was hurt. This is a major defect that must be addressed before someone gets killed.

Do i have a legal claim here-since problem was never fixed w/recall?

While driving in slippery conditions, such as on wet grass or in packed snow and applying the brakes on my 1999 chevrolet blazer, i invariable experience a jolting from the abs system as the breaks grab and release repeatedly with my foot applying steady pressure on the brake pedal. This most often occurs while traveling at speeds under 30mph or while slowing to a stop. I was able to get the vehicle to stop each time by taking my foot off the pedal and braking again several times. Inspection of the system revealed no obvious defects or damage that would have caused this to happen.

The chevy blazer had multiple defects.the air bag did not deploy upon impact.the vehicle had air and water leaks around the windows, oil was being consumed abnormally, the seat belt had come loose and the brakes did not work properly.the consumer was informed that the vehicle had been wrecked.the consumer had three accidents in which all were frontal impacts.*sc

While driving down the road approaching a stop light my wife tried to stop and the brakes just made that abs buzzing noise and was not stopping. This was caused by the wheel bearing abs sensor being bad not the wheel bearing itself this should not be able to happen as it is a danger/accident waiting to happen!

The contact owns a 1999 chevrolet blazer ls. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph and approaching a traffic stop. As the contact applied the brakes, there was an abnormal grinding. In order to stop the vehicle the contact would have to apply the brakes abruptly. The failure would occur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 116,000.

Brakes do not work on a 1999 chevy blazer , you put on the brakes and you don't know if it is going to stop or not , you press down hard , but it wont stop .it does stop , but you push hard on the brakes and it takes a long time for it to stop , it is in the antilock brakes , not working right , and i have talked to other people that have blazers and they tell me there blazer does the same thing , please do something before people get killed for this , [xxx]

I reported my defect (headlights & dash lights dimmed ) to gmac, within 3 mo of my purchase, i wasn't sure i what i was seeing at first.i was told by gmac to take my blazer to whitlow chevrolet (804-323-7600), they kept my blazer for 2 days.they said they could not reproduce my problem.i was told by the service writer, they would inform me of any bulletins that might be related to my problem.i mentioned i heard the 1999 corvette had the same problem, he said it was not related at all.i change my oil every 3,000mi and every time i visited whitlow i would ask the question about my problem, the response was "no".i took a trip to indiania on i-70, i was driving the posted speed limit, so was the driver in front of me.my lights dimmed and the driver in front of me got behind me and flashed his lights for several miles. I thought i was going to be a victim.asap, i called gmac , they listen to my problem again referred me to ratley chevrolet (540-898-4000).my first visit was interesting, they knew my about my problem.inorder for my extended warranty to cover the work, they needed to prove my problem.they kept my blazer overnite, put it on their computer, found my problem a faulty abs sensors ,and computer modual causing the abs motor to turn itself on/off ,dimming my headlights & dash lights.to my surprise i was told chevrolet could not fix my problem because the abs computer modual and sensors were defective.so i'm still driving blazer, less at night.my concern is if the abs motor is contantly running on/off,what is the lifetime of the abs motor, i'm sure it was not designed for a constant on/off life cycle, my question to you and chverolet, will my abs, work when i really need them, too.i am turning to you for help. Thanks in advance, richard hillard.

Experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation.increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash.i observed this same behavior on 1999 full sized chevrolet trucks that were repaired underrecall campaign number 05v379000.

2 incidents:i was trying to turn into a parking space and the car would not stop so i couldn't turn in.less than a week later, a vehicle in front of me stopped quickly.i had about 25-30 feet of room in front of me to stop and the brakes did not work.i ended up in an accident because i couldn't stop.

Dt*: the contact stated the abs activated at low speeds.there was a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

The abs brakes engaged prematurely when the brake pedal was depressed. When this occurred the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately, resulting in extended stopping distance. The cause of this failure has yet to be determined, pending dealership inspection.

Brakes spongy.go to floor with steady pressure

My abs brake system is experiencing the same symptoms as those in the recent recall.so far nothing has happened but do not want to have an accident occur due to the same recall problem.i do not want to pay to have it checked by the extreme high cost of a dealership.....

Vehicle was set on cruise control at 65mph.engine revved and suddenly sped upto 80 mph plus. Consumer couldn't disengagecruise control and hadno brakes. Consumer put vehicle in neutral, and the brake pedal went straight to floor. Emergency brake and foot brake finally kicked in to stopvehicle.consumer had 2 kids in vehicle, and almost rear ended 1 vehicle.vehicle was towed ,and a gmc representative found nothing wrong.there was over $2300 worth of repairs tobrake system. Also,calipes/rotors, shoes and pads were replaced 1 month before incident.

Uponapplying brakes quicklyabs will kick in andvehiclewill keep on going. Vehicle has also had many other problems--windows, stereo, door inserts, grill, headlights, all of which either had to be replaced or repaired.*ml

Front wheel speed sensors failing, causing activation of abs and near accident, several times. I avoided the accident in one occasion. In another occasion i slid into the side of a garage causing minor damage to my vehicle. The incident occurred at 10 mph that time.

Brakes pull hard to the right when sudden stops occur.ac/heat blows out the defroster, pulls power from engine has been to shop 3 times still fails

Abs light came on, then brake light came on.when i tried to stop i almost rear-ended car in front of me because brakes were not properly working. Brake pedal was hard to push down. Happened twice within 4 blocks of my home and i have not driven vehicle since even though a mechanic told me it should still be safe to drive. I hadnew brakes (including parking brake repairs) and new bearings done less than 2 years ago.i spoke with a chevy mechanic who told me modifications had been made to 99 blazer abs because of problems.we have owned this vehicle since late 1999/early 2000 (it had 16,000 miles when we purchased it) and have never received notice of this problem. We also have had additional problems with electrical system (dealer repaired), the wheel bearings as stated above, and the seat reclining levers breaking off (which dealer repaired once but then would not repair again). While checking the internet regarding this problem i found reference of a recall for the abs in 1999. I do not believe it was corrected on this vehicle and also there was no mention of recalls when we bought it from the dealer in 1999/2000.

When appyling brakeson wet pavement pedal goes to the floor, causing extended stopping distance.please provide further details.

One panic stop to avoid a collision.the front brakes locked up.they smoked and had a burnt odor, the dealer resurfaced the rotors, fixed a brake line.now when stopped, the brake pedal slowly goes to the floor, though i do have braking power when moving.the dealer rechecked it and told me this is normal.an independent mechanic says not.to date, the dealer has not fixed the problems.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 5 mph and applying the brakes the abs activated.while the brakes were applied the brake pedal pulsated and there was a grinding nose coming from the front of the vehicle.when the abs activated the stopping distance was increased.there is a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes, antilock. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the model and vin.

Abs light came on and remained on.abs sensor affected the brakes to the point that the brakes failed and caused a collision and extensive damage to my vehicle.

Consumer states brakes are noisy with/without braking.dealer could not find any problem.

Vehicle would vibrate and pulsate when appling brakes. Had to replace both front and rearrotors. Rotors were pitted and falling apart. The certified mechanic stated he had never seen wear like this with amount of miles and felt they were made with defective material. We contacted the dealership and they stated it was not covered and they could do nothing. We have saved the 4 bad rotors and would like to know if there is anyone we could contact in our area to look them overor what our next step should be to get chevrolet to cover this problem that we feelis defective workmanship.mr

Rear rotors have areas which are missing pieces of surface area which reduce braking abilityand prematurely or abnormally wear brake pads. I had an ase certified mechanic and a chevy dealerships mechanic look at the rotors and they both determined the rotors are made of poor quality steel. I contacted gm about this and they stated that due to driving habits and area (weather), and that the warranty is over they will help with technical support only. Before having the rotors checked i could tell they were poor quality. Could nhtsa investigate other rotor cases and check with gm concerning the strength and quality of all their rotors and drums?

One panic stop to avoid a collision.the front brakes locked up.they smoked and had a burnt odor, the dealer resurfaced the rotors, fixed a brake line.now when stopped, the brake pedal slowly goes to the floor, though i do have braking power when moving.the dealer rechecked it and told me this is normal.an independent mechanic says not.to date, the dealer has not fixed the problems.

Brake rotors rusted ,causing bad vibration when stopping.two of the rotors could be turned and two had to be replaced because of the rust problem.i kept the two that were replaced.the dealership told me that if this vehicle wasn't driven much inwinter in michigan, that rotors would rust because of the humidity.i told them i kept the vehicle in the garage, but they said that would not make any difference.i felt the material was defective.the vehicle was still under warranty, but that would not cover it.i contacted gm to get a field representative's name and number to talk to but they would not give it to me.the dealership would not give me the field representative's name andnumber either.i feel that if a vehicle's brake system is going to rust sitting in a garage in the winter, that information should be public knowledge published in large print in the vehicle brochures.

Steering wheel column had a lot of play inside of the wheel. Dealership replaced the steering wheel once. Complaint was that when drivingvehicleexperienced a thunking and bumping noise.

I heard a clicking like my turn indicator was on but it wasn't. Smoke came out of the steering column. A co-worker of my father's has had this component replaced twice (same symptoms) in his 1998 blazer and the gentleman's sister-in-law has had this component replaced once. Also, another co-worker of my father's had it replaced once (under warranty) on his 2001 blazer. I would think that this is a safety issue since smoke came otu of the steering column.

While getting off the highdway about six months ago i hear a pop and my truck started to slide to the right almost striking the driver next to me. I manange to get to the side of the road and got out,to find out that my left front wheel was half off.tow to the shop and found out it was tie rod failure. Since that time i have hsd to have the short shaft replaced, the tie rod replaced again on the right side. Also when it first failed they also had to replace the part that control the abs on the left side. And it still wont stay in alignment.i would also like to notethat the truck at this time has less than 90.000 miles on it ,when i purchase it had 40.000. The truck is a 1999 chevy blazer, in the past i have have good luck with chevy cars, but i have never had the problems ith any car i have ever had over the past 27 years. I am very disappointed. I have the work papers in my house as well as being able to obtain them again from the shop,so the date is an estimate. I am writing the now as i past another blazer on the side of the highway with it left wheel in the same conditon. I guess it may be best to stay off the highways. Internal bracing is inadequate and has, as a result of the apparent lack of structural integrity of the mounting brackets (and internal mounting structures), caused a few welds to begin splitting and begun to cause denting in the sheet metal on the side of the vehicle.

I have contacted chevrolet and they will not assume responsibility for the frame weld failing.theyacknowledge the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but offer no remedy other than replacing the frame at my own expense.they could not provide me with a cost to do this type of replacement.i feel this is a potential safety issue effecting other owners.i would like to see chevrolet take responsibilty for what is obviously a manufacturing defect.i realize the vehicle is out of warranty because of miles, but it is a 2 year old vehicle which a reasonable person should expect the frame to last beyond that time.

Clunking noise in the driver's side front suspensionwhen turning in both directions and when driving at slow speeds.

Manufacturer appears to have failed to grease ball joints during assembly. It also appears that two purchsed grease jobs also were not actually performed by the dealer.at 7,000 miles the front end was making grinding noise and the steering wheel was lurching on turns. The dealer's fix is to grease the ball joints and send us back on the road without an inspection nor alignment check.

A persistant clunking noise has developed in the driver's side front suspension and is evident when turning in both directions and when driving at low speeds.the sound is similar to a bad ball joint.four unsuccessful repair attempts have been made and the problem has not yet been identified or corrected.

Lower ball joints and idler arm failure.vehicle failed state safety inspection.same components previously replaced by dealer at 36,414.chevrolet not assuming any responsibility for repeated failure.dt

I was driving highway speed when i heard a loud grinding noise in front end then a severe pull to my left which veered me off the road , luckily there was a grassy knoll to my left and not a guard rail. When i exited i found my front left wheel off . The shop said my wheel fell off due to a bad bearing. I found this odd due to my replacing both bearings a year before. Apparently its a common problem. Veh. Has 147k at this incident and only 126k when replaced parts the first time.in addition had 4x4 actuator replaced, fuel pump, oil cooler lines replaced, and pitman arm...all apparently common and frequent repairs with this vehicle !!

Vehicle making a loud snapping noise when turning left.brought to a local garage, was told that both of front wheels were about to "fall off," and it would be very dangerous to drive vehicle.the mechanic actually explained my problem to me, showing me the inch of play that he could shake my wheels. He then went on to tell me that he fixes this problem in this make of vehicle about once a week.my blazer has 55,000 miles, and has been maintained very well.i am terrified to think about what could have happened, as well as disappointed and upset. *la

Front wheel hub on on front driver and passenger side had to be replaced several times due to a grinding noise when driving.idler arm and ball joint were also replaced.

Both ball joints on each side ofwheel are bad.if they break, wheels could possibly fall off, and consumer could loose steering.

While driving (at about 5 mph) the driver's side front lower ball joint failed.the car dropped to that side, and steering control was lost.luckily this happened as i was slowing to a stop before entering a highway.it appeared as though the wheel had been separated from the front suspension.after towing to a mechanic, i found that it was the lower ball joint that had failed, and the brake line had also been severed.as a result the shocks on that side were bent out of shape, and the shocks on the other side were stretched out (as it was pulled by the weight of the dropped side).had i been on the highway or traveling at a higher speed, i have no doubt that a serious accident would have occurred with possible injury or death.

Rq 02 012/front control arm ball joints: while driving 35 mph, a humming noise would come from the front of the vehicle. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop and they informed the consumer that all upper and lower ball joints needed to be replace on both side of the vehicle. Manufacturer was notified and informed the consumer that the vehicle vin # was not cover under that recall. Please provide any further information.

While driving approximately 25 mph lower right front ball joint failed causing wheel to collapse.there was no noise at failure, only the feeling that a tire might have gone flat.vehicle was towed to independent repair facility where mechanic determined that the remaining 3 ball joints were all "loose" and in need of replacement.all 4 ball joints were replaced.vehicle had approximately 93000 miles at time of incident.

Consumer complained about aball joint problem.it was discovered that the ball joints were defective.the consumer contacted the dealership, who was asking for $1200.00 to repair the defective ball joints.the hinges on the drivers door have rusted extensively causing the door to sag when opened. *sc

Consumer stated the upper and lower ball joints had worn at low mileage. Took to dealer for tire work and dealer indicated ball joints needed replacing.*nlm*yd

Lower ball joints worn only after 55,000 miles.

Right wheel assembly slipped at highway speed, causing my vehicle to lurch to the right without warning.only by my firm grip on the steering wheel, did i avoid a loss of control which almost caused a crash.premature wear of this component is noted in other general motors suv's (specifically durangos).the cost of replacement (1500) the costs of rental cars while my vehicle was under repair ( 400) are part of my claim......luckily no crash resulted from this failure.

While driving 20-25 mphfront endvibrated. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop, andmechanic determined that both front lower ball joints needed to be replaced.

While going done the road at 45 mph, suddenly the front passenger wheel came off. Tie rodsand rims weredestroyed.the ball joints were found tobe defective.also, engine was defective, and the vehicle was not running, effectively on3-20-05.

Consumer stated thatball joint snapped, causing the front wheel to come off. Dealer notified.

Took truck in for new tires/ excessive wear on front tires/ told both lower ball joints were bad. Mechanic stated he personally worked on 7 or 8 4x4 blazers in the last 2 months, with bad lower ball joints. The yrs on these vehicles ranged from 1997 to 1999. Major safety concerns!!!

While driving at 10 mphfront passenger's side tire blew out without warning. Dealer stated ball joints collapsed.

I turned the corner at an intersection and began accelerating.it felt like the vehicle had a flat tire so i pulled into a parking lot.just as i stopped, the wheel fell under the vehicle.the ball joints broke on the front right wheel causing the whell to fall off the vehicle.there were no injuries due to how slow i was driving at the time.there was almost no warning before the wheel fell off.the dealer replaced the ball joints, bent control arm, broken tie rod, bent brake hose, axle, and sway bar links.there are a number of recalls for other chevy vehicles related to manufacturing issues with ball joints.

The right upper control arm ball joint failed without warning while traveling at 55 mph.it was very difficult to maintain control of the vehicle, and i suspect that if my wife would have been driving she would not have been able to stop the vehicle safely.this was very dangerous.luckily i was not on the expressway.i know that chevy blazers had recalls for this defect in past model years, and i maybe they should again.

The driver side upper ball joint failedcoming out of a mcdonalds making a left turn at slow speed. I pulled it over immediately and had it towed. I have the part (upper ball joint) and it is very mangled. I ahve not been in any accidents, hit any curves, and get them lubed every 3,000 miles when i have the oil changed. I really would hate to have seen this happen on the highway at 65 or 70 mph. The only thing i asked the dealer is if the part was under recall. They said no. The $975.00 is for replacement of all the ball joints. I did not feel comfortable changing just the one just in case. I do have all the parts. If you want them i can send them to you. I am not doing this to get out of paying the bill. I have already payed it in full. It bothers me that it happened because i go out of my way to make sure that my vehicle is maintained properly. Another point is that i had new tires put on three weeks ago, with an alignment, and supposedly everything was ok then.

While pulling out of a parking lot the upper ball joints failed. As a result front driver side wheel fell off. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.

Was driving about 25 miles per hour on a local street with a 86 year old passgner and chrildren in the car, when the passenger side fell to the ground, unaware of what caused this i had assumed i had a flat tire and tried to move out of the way of traffic unsucessfully i remain in the middle of a busy street causing a major back up. Until an hour later when a tow truck came to tow me to a local shop. And the sfpd had to re-route traffic. Once at the shop i was told my ball joints snapped and broke causing the vechicle to drop as it did.after inspection both sides i was then told the driver side was also about to fall off. A few months before i noticed my car leaning heavly to the right side then a clicking noise started when i would turn but it stopped so i thought nothing more of it and bout 6 month later this happend.

Weld plate that holds stabilizer bar on snapped off.

Right side front stabilizer shaft bar is rubbing against the idler arm which could cause steering to lock up.

Front wheel bearing went bad to the point of making noise and when we tore it down for repairs, the bearing on the ft. Rt. (2wd) their was a lot of metal shavings behind bearing. Upon a search of several parts stores the only source was a dealer item. No problem except for the 487.00 dollars each, we only had to replace 1 but, this vehicle thathas only 60,000 miles and 2 ft.wheels this could easily end up being a 1000.00 fix for front bearing. Ps.bearings for 4wd were only $138.00.

Last year 11/02 my right front wheel bearing went bad. A horrible noise from the front end at as little of 20mph. Then the same thing happened last week from the front left. I just got it fixed today 7/28/03. The first time it was around 60,000.now it is at 66,671 miles. The assembly's to fix the bearings are not cheap...

Early failure of front wheel bearing.

1999 blazer under 60k, have replaced both front wheel hub bearing, oil cooler lines, front seat recliner handle, condensate water leaks onto floor when vehicle is in motion. Have read same problem on complaint web-site. Why no action by gm?

Consumer was concerned that both driver's side and passenger's side wheel bearings were replaced twice while driving. Consumer noticed vibration coming from the front of the vehicle. Consumer drove vehicle to dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that wheel bearing needed to be replaced.

Second failure on wheel hub assembly at 126000 miles (replaced the first time at 58k miles).1999 chevy blazer not ever driven off road.will required $600 a wheel to replace the two front wheel assemblies.this is a design flaw in these parts.read the 10 other complaints saying the same thing.all at 50-60k miles...all with wheel hub assembly.is it a coincidence tha gm redesigned the part, charges $600 per wheel to fix and is the only supplier of the part?

Both front wheel bearings assemblies failed on my 1999 blazer.the vehicle had about 68,000 miles.according to the mechanic, there is no scheduled and/or preventive maintenance for these parts.i understand that continued use of the vehicle with the bad bearings could cause a catostrophic failure.since the problem is "just noise", and very expensive to repair, the poor design of these parts could lead to serious safety problems as the vehicles age.

Problems with front end wheel bearings on 1999 chevrolet blazer.*mrwhile driving there was a moaning noise coming form the front end.the vehicle was taken tot he dealer who deterermined that the driver's side front hub needed to be replaced.fifteen months later the noise was present again.the dealer replaced one and informed the consumer that he other one would need to be replaced soon.the consumer believes the front hubs are a problem in these vehicles.

Both front wheel bearings have failed under 50,000 miles of wear. Dealer was not contacted. Consumer called the ac delco company to retrieve parts needed. This was to no avail.consumer was informed that gm and other dealers have first priority to the parts and would be able to buy from the dealer.*jg

I have a 1999 chevrolet blazer that is very well maintained. I had to replace both front end wheel hub bearings before it had 60,000 miles on it. There must be defective bearings being put in these vehicles. There is no way a wheel bearing should wear out before 60,000 miles. I wrote to chevrolet corporate offices & they told me they were sorry but didn't offer any compensation. I am filing this report to help others in the future. It is quite expensive to replace wheel bearings and if enough people complain maybe chevrolet will take some responsibility for installing defective parts.

Groaning noise coming from right front of vehicle.diagnosed by dealer as right front wheel bearing/hub assembly failure.right front wheel hub assembly replaced.

Consumer stated that while driving and without warning the front wheel bearing failed causing a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified. Keyless entry opens entire vehicle. It should only open driver's door according to owner's manual. This is a severe safety issue for a female travelling alone.the dealer states this is the way this keyless entry operates. Please resolve this safety issue.

The intake gasket in the engine has malfunctioned and it's leaking antifreeze, gasoline (maybe), and other fluids really badly.

Poor gas caused fuel build up on throttle body andbutterfly vavle to stick.when taking off from a stop sign, car lurched forward.consumer has almost had a coulple of accidents because of this problem.

When attemtping to make a stop and upon applying brake pedal vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing extended stopping distance.consumer has contacteddealer, dealer statedproblem was due to a build up around fuel: throttlelinkage and control.dealer stated that the problem was a maintenance problem.

I was driving to pick up my kids on january 30, 2007 i was approaching a 3 way stop traveling south bound on the side street that runs along march air force base in moreno valley, california and all the sudden i could not stop i was trying to hold my brakes down as hard as i could but they are antilock brakes and i slammed into the back of a honda accord my car didn't stop there i hit my forehead on the steering wheel and i blacked out when i came to my car was idling wanting to still go and so i tried to put it in park and itscared me so i turned my car off i didn't know what was wrong with it i asked the people i hit to call the cops i didn't have a phone they just wanted to exchange driver info and leave i was upset i turned my car on and drove to the nearest phone putting it in neutral everytime i came to a stop my car is automatic. I also forgot to include that on impact my air bag did not even open to prevent me from slamming into my steering wheel it hurt all the whole next day.

The heater core in my 1999 chevrolet blazer has been replaced five times.the heater core problem causes a significant safety risk.when failing, the heater core clogs and then eventually bursts spilling boiling hot water into the blazer.the radiator and all of its contents drain into the front interior of the blazer.the steaming hot water places me and my family in danger of being severely burned.i have been very lucky to date, in that the heater core has not burst with my children in the car.so far, i have been able to get the vehicle to the side of the road and quickly get out of the vehicle before i am burned. Additionally, when the heater core bursts the blazer fills with steam and the chemicals contained within the radiator.the steam and chemicals make it virtually impossible to see and impairs the driver''s ability to get all passengers and the vehicle out of harms way.i have been very lucky to date in that i have been able to quickly get the blazer off of the road.i wonder everyday whether the heater core will burst and cause an accident that harms my children, myself or someone else. Due to the significant safety risk of the blazer i am very uncomfortable driving it and will not drive it long distances. I feel unsafe with my children in the car and i have coached my children on what to do if it bursts and often force them to sit in the back seat.when driving on the freeway i always stay in a lane that allows easy access to the shoulder so i can quickly get off of the road when necessary. The heater core problem poses a significant safety risk to me and my family.if, general motors refuses to re-purchase my blazer from me, i will hold general motors responsible for any and all injuries and accidents caused by the ongoing heater core problem.i believe general motors to be a responsible company, one that is not willing to put myself or my family at continued risk of being severely burned or involved in a motor vehicle accident.

There was no accident involved.i am the second owner on a 1999 chevrolet, blazer. My husband nt to put new brakes and tires on for the first, the shop couldn't get the tire off.the reason--the rims were manufactured aluminum which cool faster than steelbehind the rims.it produces asubstance that makes it sticky, when it dries. It causes thebrakes and tiresto break the rim and pay for the broken rim.i feel that gmcshould take responsibility and fix this problem.
