Since the car was new, sometimes when the cruise button is pushed the car will automatically go full throttle. If i step on the brake it will stop. I had it to the chevy dealer when it was new. It would never do it for them. It only happens about twice a year. They replaced some parts on the cruise control but that did not fix it.

Truck parked in back yard just caught fire. Fire department said fire started under dash on drivers side. I am now without a vehicle to drive and if there were a defect in this years truck why wasn't there a recall on it.

Alternator bearing seized up, causing engine fire. * dsh

I over took care of this truck as i loved it so much. It now repulses me to look at it. I thought that maybe it was a lemon but my brother had one a year older that had the same engine problems with the radiator, alternator repairs fuel injection, roller cam, engine replacement @ 73,000 miles only he dumped his before the engine need replaced and no customer service from gm. The only way its like a rock is when it sinks in a lake! i called gm got a case #990448783 (8/9/99) but now it has a new engine it still sound like the alternator is going every time i have it looked at it cost $200.00 and they find some thing else. When i have the money to dump it i will and i will never own another gm product i'm now $5,600 into this but it will be my last gm truck or product.

The wife was driving on interstate highway at 60-65 mph.all gages, sounds, noises were normal.at approxitmately 30 miles from home there was a "bang"under the hood followed by repeated thumping.she immediately checked the gages.batery light was on and the alternater gauge was almost to zero.she pulled to the side of the freeway and stopped.she tried to contact me at my office for approximately 3 minutes.she then noticed increasing black color at the driver side hood and fender junction and heat waves eminating from the hood area.she got out and through the wheel well saw flames in the engine compartment .about one minute later an ohio state patrolman among others pulled up to the scene.my wife was able to salvage most of the personal effects in the vehicle except for those in the front passenger compartment.the vehicle burned quickly from bumper to bumper.the trooper said that the fire was so hot and moved so fast that if she had tried to make the exit 1/2 mile up the road thethe fire would have come through the fire wall and under the dash and that she probably would have been severly burned or killed.if there would have been young children or infants in car seats there may not have been enough time to get them out.the vehicle was well maintained, regular oil changes but no recent service performed on the vehicle.there was no warning or noise prior to the failure.my evaluation is that something went wrong with the alternator.in the burned out shell the alternator was detached from the engin, lying on the frame work under the driverside headlights and sideways facing the passanger side.the fire was so hot that the aluminum alternater case was melted away and the aluminum ac evaporator coil and radiator coil were both partially melted away in the vacinity of what was left of the alternator.in the past several months i have run across at least 6 other in the central ohio area where this style of chevy blazer has caught fire.*a

Egr valve failed prior to and twice after recall notice.nlm

The following note was sent to chevy product support through their web site.the vehicle is a 1993 blazer, vin [xxx] - i recently had the electronic emission control valve (egr(?) fail in the open position, causing the vehicle to stall.i was not able to restart the engine.fortunately, i wasn't in traffic and could safely have the truck towed to my mechanic who replaced the defective valve.is the replacement of this part covered by a warranty or out of warranty special service arrangement?have the safety issues been addressed by a redesign of the valve or emission control system for this vehicle?this is very similar to the condition reported as odi id: 736343 & 736345.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Vehicle was not starting right away and would die out when let off gas. Almost rear-ended a car at a toll booth on one occasion, had to put into neutral to use brakes then drive with two feet the rest of the 200 mile trip home. Mechanic replaced egr valve for the second time! january had to clean out egr again.

Egr failed . Yh

Engine exhaust gas recirculation valve is suspected to have failed again.

While driving about 5 mph in a parking lot, driver applied the brakes during normal braking, no inclement weather, and the pedal went soft and would not stop the truck.when taken to dealership, dealer stated that the egr valve stuck. The egr valve has been replaced.

While driving vehicle on the high way about 55 mph the engine check light came on.stepping on the brake pedal to stop vehicle the brakes did not work. After getting right off highway the brakes lost power because the engine did not run with enough power because ofegr valve code 32 brakes went from power brakes to manual brakes. Driver had to stand on brakes for car to stop.driver contacted dealer and they always fixedthem for her.

Egr failed . Yh

Vehicle starts riding rough as if going to stall; service indicator light comes; vibrates; loss vehicle power; no brakes; cause: egr valve fills up with carbon.

Three times during june of 2002 vehicle died while driving 65mph on interstate and was extremely difficult to handle, all power gone , had to put in neutral to use brakes, very scary w/ 5 yr. Old son w/me. Mechanic installed new fuel pump and relay.

Engine check light came on. Applied brakes & no brakes. Had pressed brake & accelerator pedals to increase rpms and to operate egr vale properly. Did not work. Took to dealer & mechanic said egr valve that connected to brakes was gone. Needed to replace it.after repair problem occurred again due to a carbon build up.*ml

Failed egr valve makes vehicle difficult to start/idle roughly.

When backing up the power brakes failed because the electronic egr valve got stuck which dumped exhaust gas into the intake manifold, causing loss of vacuum. Egr value replaced by owener.

Exhaust gas recirculation valve malfunctioned.

Ongoing problem, replaced linear egr valve, car continues to lose all power when slowing down or letting up on gas steering, braking then stalls.

Due to a defective egr valve, vehicle stalled and drove roughwhich could have resulted in a crash. Eger was already replaced on a recall. Also, brakes worke dpoorly, and check engine loght came on/off.

Egr valve has failed numerous times and consumer has had to experience inconvenient breakdowns, consumer is requesting reimbursement.

Engine exhaust gas recirculation valve failure.

Egr valve failure.engine check light came on . Began to run rough/shaking/jerking.tried to stop car, but brakes failed .... Had to really apply pressure to pedal before car would stop.

While driving at 45 mph, let up off gasand car started knocking.then, consumer applied brakes and they did not work. Took vehicleto dealer.mechanic said egr valve was carboned up/ got stuck openly/ lost manifold pressure, and that what caused brakes to fail.mechanic replaced egr vavle, and then the knocking started.

This car is a death trap. Car loses all power; steering, braking then stalls. Problem w/ egr valve since 1997, replaced linear egr, 4 mths ago, continues to stall when slowing, letting up on gas.dealer cleaned manifold, happened again 2 weeks later, brought back to dealer, said can't pinpoint problem guess something with egr valve.

Egr valve would plug up with carbon. This condition occurred on five occasions, causing the erratic operation of the idle, which in turn, causeed loss of steeringand brakes. Dealer /manufacturer notified and refused to do repairs unless cost goes to consumer. Also, informed consumer that corrections were done only on a one time basis.all other times it would be at consumer's expense. Can nhtsahelp in this matter.

The feed and fuel lines are manufactured of polycarbinate - plastic-that will harden, crack; therebyexposing risks to the public at large.additionally, the fuel pressure regulator diaphram is under high pressure compared to other chevrolet models.for example, a pontiac 6000 operates at approx 40 lbs psi fuel pressure.the chevrolet s-10 blazer cmpi fuel system operates at approx. 60 lps. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 5 mph and attempting to depress the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not accelerate.there seemed to be no gas moving though the fuel line.at times, there was difficulty in starting the vehicle.it was taken to a service dealer who inspected the fuel tank for accessibility.the fuel tank was replaced and a new fuel pump was installed.there was a nhtsa recall # 06e041000 regarding the fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittingson the year, make and model of this vehicle however the manufacturer was not contacted to verify if the vehicle was included in the recall.

While driving at any speed for no reason the blazer stalls, will not restart and has to be towed. This has happenedon (4) different occasions. The fuel pump has been changed (5) times because there is no pressure in the pump. The vehicle has stopped working again and has to be towed a (5th) time.

I have a 93 s10 blazer and the truck shut down while my daughter was driving.the ecmb fuse was blown and would blow out when the ignition switch would be turned on.i finally tracked the problem down to the fuel pump.when i removed the gas tank and pulled out the fuel pump, the wire inside the tank were welded together and the plug on the end of the fuel pump was melted (fused) together.this really concerns me that these internal components can get hot enough to melt they could easily cause the tank to explode.also the wiring is attached to the sending unit and to replace both of these components it will cost over $600 just for parts.this is a terrible design and a nasty hazard, somebody may be killed.

Fuel pump failed, resulting in shutdown, replaced 3 times.tt

Faulty main/central injector was dumping gas all over - very dangerous - i am told by several mechanics that they are replacing this part like crazy - that they believe this part to be defective - dealer replaced for another customer but would not honor same for me.

Nhtsa recall #94v093000/manufacturer's recall 9474l60e07. Contacted dealer, and parts were not available.consumer having problems withrecall subject.

Vehicle was in park position & turned off.but when the vehicle was turned on, the vehicle jumped foward like a manual transmission, but this one is automatic transmission.

The vehicle moved backward, on two occasions in 1999, while running and parked on a slight incline. The transmission was fully engaged in park on both occasions. There is a recall for this condition (nhtsa 94v093000), but the recall states that the s-series trucks are excluded because they are "only 2-wheel drive." i have contacted chevrolet motor company and hhtsa and have been told that my vehicle is not covered, based upon the vin. However, my s-series blazer is 4-wheel drive, i believe that the transmission fits the recall description, and the problem that i experienced (i.e., the vehicle came out of park while running) is the condition for which the transmission was recalled. I, therefore, beleive that the statement excluding s-series trucks because they are not 4-wheel drive is incorrect and neglects the occurrence of a dangerous condition in the s-series vehicles like mine.

While driving about any mph engine will not accelerate, and sometimes will start losing power inmiddle of highway.dealer had been contacted.please provide more information.

Since purchased of this vehicle the passenger seat has been used considerably less since the vehicle has been maintained by a single individual.it is not a used family vehicle.disappointed this bolt wasn't harden to withstand the seldom used mechanism.

The problem that i am having is already a recall in the 1993 and 1994 chevy extendedcab pickups the seat code in question is a95 there is a bolt that brakes and the seat thenreclines without warningthis happens due to wear in the seat frame i believe, i have purchased the repair parts and installed them and now the seat is working loose again it looks like the frame is weak around the bolt hole, if i recall correctly the bulliten at the dealer says that if the repair does not fix the problem that the seat frame may need replaced. I personally feel that general motors abdicated their responsibility to the consumer . I believe that this company should follow through with these recalls on all vehichles that could have this potential problem. My 1993 chevy blazer has the same seat code that is offered in the pickups ,the blazer, surburban, and the yukon could also have the same seat, and potentially the same problems.

While driving about 10 mphpassenger's seat collapsed without prior warningdue toseat boltbreaking inhalf.

The 2 bolts holding the seat hinge together broke, causing the seats to flop back.

While driving driver's side seat fully reclined. Dealer notified.

Power seat operated while vehicle was in motion. This has happened 3 times in a year. Nothing was near control buttons to activate power seat. Each time the seat reclined by itself.

Driver's and passenger's seatback boltsheared off, causing seatback to fall which could cause loss of vehicle control.

Driving vehicle approx. 25mph, going down the road, when suddenly the passenger's seat collapsed backwards onto child's legs in rear. Took to dealer & informed bolts of seat sheared off. No problems w/driver seat as of yet.

Had parked vehicle, left and returned later. Noticed passenger's reclining seatback was broken. Laying in rear of vehicle. Took vehicle to dealer & boltshad broken. Was informed the bolts were recall, but not vehicle. Dealer had sold bolts to owner for repairs & they were defective.

The brake rotor sheared apart between the flange section which bolts to the axle and the outer section which the pads clamp on too.it is my opinion that the casting is defective and the section which failed should retain its structural integrity long after the rotors have worn out due to wear and tear. It appears that the rotors would otherwise have had another 30,000 miles to go before needing to be replaced had the failure not occurred.had this failure occurred on the highway, it is likely that there would have been catastrophic consequences.

Vehicle downshifts drastically while driving, problem happened while dealer drove, wrecked it.ttconsumer states vehicle would also lunge forward at times.

Vehicle was in the park position. Consumer placed the vehicle from park into drive, and the vehicle accelerated. Consumer depressed the brake pedal, vehicle continued to move, resulting in the vehicle running into a house. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealerhas replaced the transmission.

Brakes don't seem to work when it runs away with high engine revs, happens off and on.

The vehicle will ramdomly engage the cruise control, whether on or off. The vehicle pulls hard enough that driver has to stand on the brakes in order to shift into neutral i.e. "burning rubber".

Dt:while the contact's mother was drivingat 30 mph the vehicle would not stop.it felt as though the cruise control activated.the vehicle accelerated to 55 mph.the vehicle ran into a house and went through it.when the vehicle came to a stop the engine was still running.a police report taken at the scene.the vehicle was towed tothe contact'sresidence.the tow truck driver looked under the hood, and found the throttle was stuck all the way forward.the vehicle has not been to any mechanic for repairs.

The abs brakes are subject to an intermittent failure problem. The brake pedal goes to the floor & fails to stop the vehicle right away. The stopping distance is extended. Dealer has replaced the master cylinder, vacuum control switch, cruise control vacuum hose, front brake pads, and rotors, consumer states there have been no further problems.

Engine bearing failure: premature, chevrolet accepts no responsibility, no offer to help repair (probably linked to odi id's 717356,465597,837150,525624,811729, and 487859. |||abs brake failure: occurred while attempting to avoid a collision.truck skidded for over 90 feet before striking curb and utility fixtures.gm denied any possibility that the brakes failed.gm offered no assistance to have brakes examined or repaired for defects.|||cruise control - stopped working.|||transfer case failure - truck tries to engage 4wd intermittently while driving (grinding noise).first trip to dealer, said that the problem was brakes ($400 later still grinding).2nd time, problem found to be defective vacuum switch (damage occurred inside transfer case due to failure).3rd time chevrolet recommends replacing engine for bearing failure before starting on the transfer case.||| all cases, gm declined financial assistance.in the case of abs brake failure, gm reps did not want to talk to me or look at the problem.i am tired of dealing with chevrolet's customer no-service group!!!

Consumer was driving and accelerator stuck causing an accident .tt

Vehicle surges while parking, causing accidents.

Inside the throttle body fuel is leaking from the nylon fittings. Vehicle would not start right away. Have to keep trying a few times before catchting hold.

Accelerator pedal got stuck, vehicle hit the side ofa building.

Poor alignment between brake and throttle pedal causes right foot to hit throttle upon heavy brake application.the spring tension on the throttle is relatively light, and many people may not notice that this is the cause of acceleration in crisis situations.could be a scenario in many unexplained acceleration accidents.

While driving up a hill the throttle stuck, causing vehicle to increase in speed.please provide details.

Dt:the contact stated while trying to make a u turn the cruise control activatedby itself.she was trying to get out of traffic when cruise control failurecaused the vehicleto crash into an apartment building.the tow truck driver said the throttle was fully engaged.the vehicle has not been inspected.updated 11/30/2005 -

Egr valve failure.engine check light came on . Began to run rough/shaking/jerking.tried to stop car, but brakes failed .... Had to really apply pressure to pedal before car would stop.

While drivingcar suddenly accelerated on its own at a speed of 60mph. When consumer tried to apply the brakes, and the car did not stop. Manufacturer has been contacted, and said there was no record of this problem.

Brakes operate poorly, ther isextened stoppingdistance. Also fumes coming from ventilation system.

Heater core failed, causing coolant to leak into vehicle.

Shifted into reverse and rear window shattered.tt

Windshield wipers work intermittently. This can result in inoperative windshield wipers, reducing a driver's visibility and increasing risk of avehicle crash. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under a ma nufacturer's recall. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

Windshield wipers operate erratically.they work and then they don't work. They shut off when they are needed. Dealer has been contacted.

I have two friends who are having the same problem. One has a 1993 chevrolet 4 wd pickup and the other has a 1995 chevrolet z 71 4 wd pickup. No safety defect mentione din summary.

Windshield wipers stick in upward position while in intermittent mode.*aw

Windshield wiper motor failed.

Wipers/washer failed completely without warning. Replacement wiper module (circuit board) corrected problem. Can send failed part to nhtsa for analysis upon request.

Ongoing problem with windshield wipers workingintermittently. This problemcan result in inoperative windshieldwipers whichwould reduce driver's visibility, and increase risk of a vehicle crash.consumer was told by manufacturer the failure occurs due to wear and tear.

Ongoing problem with windshield wipers workingintermittently. This problemcan result in inoperative windshieldwipers whichwould reduce driver's visibility, and increase risk of a vehicle crash.consumer was told by manufacturer the failure occurs due to wear and tear.

Ongoing problem with windshield wipers working intermittently or not at all, affecting driver's visibility, and may cause a vehicle collision.after washing the vehicle and during rain storms, the wipers fail unless manually moved or manually hit the black wiper box under hood.

Windshield wiper motor randomly stops working and then start working again.

Windshield wipers intermittently operate whileraining, worked and suddenly quit. Dealer contacted and is aware of problem. Vehicles warranty does not cover, vin does not comply to recall. Repairwork done at owners expense.

Front wiper motor module is defective.

While driving on the interstate highway in the late afternoon, it began to rain very hard.the windshield wipers were turned on and where operating correctly for about five minutes when suddenly they stopped.it was almost impossible to see but, i was able to pull over to the shoulder of the highway.i tried the switch several times without any success.while sitting on the side of the road the wipers started again and continued to work.i decided to pull back on the road but, after about another three minutes they stopped again in mid stride.again i was able to pull over.i got out of the truck and grabbed the wiper arm.as soon as i touched it began to operate again.

The windshield wiper motor worked intermittently, water had to be applied because the windshield wipers were smoking. Consumer had to tap the motor a few times to get the wipers to work. It happened a month ago.

Intermittent pulling and locking of left front wheel area.tt

I have the moto metal 6 lugbones wheels on this truck and they are cracking just like the 8 lug wheels of this same type. Moto metal will not replace all of the wheels and they know they have a problem. They recalled the 8 lugs but will not recall the 6 lug. If its the same issue of breaking then what should it matter if they are 6 or 8 lug.

Driving about 15mph, when the right rear studs went through the axle,at same time & wheel flew off. Left rear studs (1) occurred 2/18/98. Others were loose. Driver noticed wheel after stopping vehicle. Aluminum wheel was toren up on driver's side. Have studs & nuts.

The front passenger 6 wheel lugs: nuts sheared off, causing the wheel to fall off, almost resulting in an accident.dealer cannot determine problem.
