The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact started the vehicle and the front driver side air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the driverā€™s side front air bag sensor warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and completed a diagnostic test which displayed a failure with the front driverā€™s side air bag. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately of 52,000.

Air bag deployed light came on approximately 12/3 and stays on. Will this cause the bag not to deploy if there is an accident? i have noticed on line this has been mentioned by others as well. Should this be a recall issue or should the vehicle owner be responsible for the correcting of the problem?

Air bag light stays on all of the time.

It was a car accident in which air bags failed to deploy.suffered back and neck injuries.

The air bag warning light came on while driving 20mph while turning and has never went off (started around 125,000miles).i took it to the local mechanic, he checked wires and hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and believes it is either the module or the sensor in the seat, but can't/won't give an exact cause.when i tried to contact gm they kept saying i was just going off what the internet said and needed to see a dealer.just made it feel like that didn't care about my safety or the safety of any one in one of these vehicles.

My air bag light keeps coming on. I took it to a chevy dealer (huber automotive) numerous times and they claimed to fix it but it keeps returning on

"takata recall" i bought my car in 2009. About 6 months later the airbag light came on and the dealer went out of business. When i checked the vin number it was not among the many, many aveos tagged for recall to replace faulty airbag systems. And i'm not alone. Complaints keep piling in from aveo owners about the airbag safety lights that never turn off, nearly catching up with 20 years of "complaints involving takata inflators..."my car was parked when an individual backed into my passenger door. The collision was so severe the door had to be replaced. Yet it triggered no airbags. Did you know while the airbag light is engaged, the car cannot be sold? you think this might be due to the fact that it indicates a serious problem with the airbag system - that most prominent feature in aveo's highly touted "5-point" safety rating? so what's its rating without airbags? or do we need a higher body count before the makers and safety regulators are willing to talk about that? need we really toil with the question about why america lost its place in the auto industry? we need go no further than right here.

Engine shuts down while driving as if ignition turned off. Cannot get out of park.air conditioner stopped in 2010, 2011, 2013air bag lights on dashboard on since 2010.

Issue., did call lemon law missed by two months mileage at this time is 59226. Updated 02/01/12 updated 02/10/12

The "passenger air bag" light on the dash stays on and won't go off.also the check engine light goes on and off and i had the code checked and they said is is something with the fuel.i have heard other complaints about the air bag light and it might not be deployed in an accident.why does general motor have to wait until people get killed in their cars and have a class action lawsuit filed before they do the right thing?why don't they recall these cars and fix the problems with electrical, air bags and other manufacturing defects? my car only has about 21,000 miles on it.chevrolet should be ashamed to sell lemons and show total disregard for their customers lives.

My airbags failed to deploy when i was rear-ended in my chevy aveo.i sustained multiple injuries to my head, mouth, eye, nose, and lost consciousness in addition to other injuries to my body.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.the following day after the vehicle was purchased, the contact noticed that the passenger side air bag light remains illuminated.the failure was noticed while driving 20 mph.her husband, who weighs over 200 lbs, cannot enable the sensor.she took the vehicle to the dealer, but they cannot find anything wrong.the dealer stated that it may be a manufacturer defect.the current mileage was 205 and failure mileage was 10.

The contact owned a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact's vehicle crashed head on into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained neck injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

There has been a service bulletin issued ...nhtsa #10047441, tsb#sb-12-09-41-001 stating that counterfeit airbag moduleswere put on the chevy aveo's from the years 2006 to 2010. There has been several reports of the airbags not deploying during frontal crashes, and many more reports like mine where the airbag light is constantly lit disabling the airbags. General motors isn't offering a recall and i think someone needs to step up and have general motors repair all of the affected vehicles as this is a major safety issue. How many more people have to die and/or suffer before someone makes an effort to issue a recall?????

The contact owned a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While making a turn at 20 mph, the steering wheel locked up and caused the vehicle to spin out of control. The contact crashed into an oncoming vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The police was called to the scene and a police report was filed. The contact was uninjured; however, the pregnant driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries that required medical attention. The contact's vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow yard. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,859.

1.on june 14, 2015, the red passenger airbag warning light came on and will not go off.i checked the owners manual and all it said was that there may be a problem with the airbag module.nhtsa's database states in service bulletin #sb-12-09-41-001, id #10047441 that buick/chevrolet is providing information regarding counterfeit vehicle airbag module for 2006-2010 aveo (and other models).any vehicle airbag defect or counterfeit part is a major safety problem!what "information" have chevrolet/buick provided???i am extremely upset that any passenger in our 2007 chevrolet aveo is at great risk!2.in nhtsa's #14v2161000 recall subject: daytime running light module overheating involves 2007 chevrolet aveo vehicles (& other gm vehicles).this is of real concern to us because we have never been contacted by chevrolet about this defective running light module overheating and possibly causing a vehicle fire. We purchased our 2007 chevrolet aveo in 2009! please help.the consumer stated that gm will not replace the defective air bag sensor and module as there was no recall issued for this defect, and they can not afford to fix the repairs at the cost of $1,697.48.

I was involved in an accident in which my airbag didn't deploy. I suffered from a concussion, a hairline nasal fracture, and i still have issues with my neck and back to this day. As i have noticedit seems to be a common problem not only with gm vehicles but aveo's as well. When is a recall going to be issued?

Driving down the interstate the driver side air bag deployed causing the driver to lose control and hit the center wall. Driver sustained multiple injuries including 5 broken ribs and a broken back in 7 places. Gm says if i cannot prove the air bag went off (video of the incident) then they have no reason to believe the center wasnot hit first causing the air bags to deploy, therefore functioning properly.

Airbag light stays on won't even let you in to read code.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to shift into drive. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the gear box needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

For the last week, my airbag light has been staying on.

I bought the chevy aveo off the lot brand new. Car is running ok. But the air bag light started turning on and off at first around the april 2009. Then it completely stays on, this happened some time later the same year, i can't remember when. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the light should not stay on, that indicates that all the airbags are disabled. I asked if they would fix it, as the car has not been in any major crash. He said that i would have to fix the airbags at my cost. I recently learned that it is a common problem with the aveo. Chevrolet installed counterfeit airbags or its connectors. I believe chevy should fix the problem instead of ignoring it.

Lost control while braking/steering on black ice after a curve to avoid wrecked vehicles and motorists in lanes.car spun 180 and rolled 360 off road (rolled over the left side of the vehicle, shattering the left rear pass window, coming to rest on wheels).believe the aveo5 svm should come standard with side airbags. No airbags deployed. Was wearing seatbelt, shaken but able to exit vehicle safely. No passengers. Vehicle has a history of sir light coming on several times and had been serviced by 2 separate chevrolet/gm goodwrench dealerships multiple times to replace airbag control module, wire harness, and service connectors. Sir light was not on at the time of incident.exact vehicle speed at time of rollover is unknown, 25 mph is a rough guess of speed after braking.

Air bag light stays on duration when i'm driving. I took it to the dealer and they looked at it and the light was off, but it came back on again after 3 months.

On 7/6/2015 my airbag light came on. When i took it to the dealer to have it diagnosed, they said it was due to a faulty occupant restraint control module which would cost almost $900 to get fixed. I was told by the dealership if i got into an accident, my airbags will not deploy due to this failure. I am shocked this major safety issue is not covered by gm and has not been recalled. My vehicle will not pass inspection without this part.

Light stay on always.

I was about to start the car and the airbag on the left side of the driver's seat exploded, injuring my left arm.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 70 mph on a highway, the vehicle had lost all power on three separate occasions.the warning lights illuminated on and off and the engine idled as the vehicle coasted to a stop.the vehicle restarted, and then stalled after a few minutes.the vehicle was towed to the sales/service dealer, where the problem could not be recreated.the second time, the electronic ignition switch was replaced and the third time, the alternator was replaced.also, while traveling 45 mph, the vehicle avoided the tire tread thrown off the tire of a tractor trailer, and struck a median divider.the frontal air bags failed to deploy.the 18 year old driver sustained chest bruises from the seat belts and the 42 year old female sustained bruising due to the seat belt and skinned the left shin.neither occupant went to the hospital.there was a police report taken.the contact had received a nhtsa recall letter # 06v398000 for the fuel system: gasoline.the manufacturer was notified and paperwork was submitted for lemon law procedures to replace or buy back the vehicle.

My airbag light has been on for 3 months and know once it's on won't work if and when i need it. This a major safety concern and something that gm should be addressing as it seems to be a manufacturer related issue. I took my vehicle down to my local auburn cheverolet and they told me they would have to replace the clock on my dashboard which works perfectly fine in order to fix the airbag problem. This doesn't seem right and should be a big red flag. I would like to see gm address these issues instead of sweeping it under their proverbial rug.they are putting customers at great risk.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.while driving approximately 50 mph in the rain, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle.the front end of his vehicle was damaged and the radiator is shaped like a "v".the air bags failed to deploy and three occupants were injured.the vehicle was towed.the other driver confirmed that she stopped the vehicle without warning due to the weather and poor visibility.the contact has photos and a police report was filed.the fuel system was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 12,200.

Airbag light came on and has stayed on for 2 months. Unable to detect what is wrong with electronic reader. Airbags are disengaged, and i can't find out why without paying more money than i have to spend because each component has to be checked, and that doesn't include actually fixing the problem, just figuring out what the problem is. I've seen that many people have complained about this. Passenger airbag sensor started acting weird/ not working first. Occurred around 100 k miles. When will a recall happen? this is apparently a common safety issue.

The car has only 12,000 miles despite being 5 years old.it is babied and been regularly serviced.the instrument panel airbag light stays illuminated.although chevrolet has issued a tsb (technical service bulletin), no recall on these cars has been issued despite the hundreds of complaints.it seems that now i am stuck with an expensive repair.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact noticed that while driving approximately 55 mph, both the front passenger air bag and the air bag symbol warning indicators began to illuminate on the instrument panel until the engine was turned off. The failure recurred when driving at any speed and whenever an occupant was positioned in the front passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that all of the air bags equipped in the vehicle were inoperable. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 37.

Airbag light stays on all the time dealer says it is$900 to fix it. You would think with all the other complaints chevy would take care of the problem.

Chevy aveo 2007 showed air bag light deployed and the ignition key has a defect when key is entered chevy aveo accelerates to 2000 rpm and shuts off the aveo .

Takata recallmy 2007 chevy aveo on 9/ 10 2016wen i started it upthe passenger side air bag lightsaying that the airbag is off! has just come on and will not go off! it is on every time i start the car and wile driving it with or with out a passenger in it.this from what i have read on line means the air bag is bad andwill not deploy or will deploy for no reason there needs to be a recall i have read many post from others with this same problem in the2007 chevy aveo please recall this car before someone is killed!!!

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, another vehicle crashed into the side of her vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained multiple bruises, cuts on an unknown arm and leg, one passenger sustained a broken nose, and the other passenger sustained a cut below the eye that all required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not available. ...updated 01/25/16

I would like to suggest the chevrolet aveo only has frontal air bags and should have more air bags especially for side collisions.

When the car starts air bag light gets deployed this has been happening since 2011.the front panel gets overheated- daytime running light.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The failure was reported to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was to be taken in for further inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,800.

My mother was killed in a 1 car accident outside tallahassee, fl on i10 on 8 may 2007.she went into the median and hit trees head-on.the posted speed limit is 70 mph and the fhp on the scene indicated she applied her brakes from the time she left the pavement until she hit the trees.she died 6 days later of a broken neck and multiple internal injuries.she was driving a 6 week old 2007 chev aveo with front and side air bags.none of these air bags deployed.i truly believe she would have surviived this accident if the front air bags had deployed.from everything i have read, this is the perfect scenario for front air bag deployment.are there similair complaints against gm for the 2007 chev aveo?

I purchased a used 2007 chevy aveo hatchback for my daughter's first car.since getting it, the air bag lights would sometimes stay on and then go off from time to time.recently the main air bag light stayed on constant.then the passenger air bag light came on too saying that air bag was off.needless to say, it is not a safe car to drive if the air bags will not deploy in an accident.getting it fixed will cost about $700 to change sensors and "other stuff".upon researching about aveo's and their air bag issues, i'm happy to say that i'm not the only one experiencing this issue.sadly there are hundreds if not thousands of the exact same problems from owners of aveo's found all over the internet.all these owners are doing what i am doing, paying out of pocket to fix a known and documented problem by the manufacturer.these cars are not the best cars to begin with, but our daughter and her passenger's safety is worth the $700.now if only chevrolet felt the same about our daughter and every other owner of an aveo and man up and fix the issue.besides, don't tax payers technically own this company anyway because of the bailout?????????????someone demand a recall on aveo's and their air bag issues please!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this chevy aveo lt in 2009, in 2012 the air bag light in the dash board came on and will not go off, the chevy dealer is trying to charge me to fix it and there is all kinds of people talking about this problem and my mechanic told me with the air bag light on the air bags will not deploy if i were to get in a accident, i called chevy and they are trying to charge me just to look at it car, with all the bad reviews on the 2007 chevy aveo i would think chevy would stand behind there cars and fix the issues with this air bag light staying on all the time, something needs to be done about this...

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The current and failure mileages were 6,000. While driving 35mph, her daughter crashed into a telephone pole. The vehicle was damaged. The side and front air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries. The purchase date is not available. A police report is available. The current and failure mileages were 6,000.

In june, 2011 my sister was driving a aveo and clipped a road sign on the right front bumper, continued to go straight over to left down an embankment of approx. 6 ft and 40-45 mph and hit steering wheel so hard that it broke steering wheel and busted her heart killing her instantly. I went to school for automotive and know a lot about cars and this accident makes no sense. I took pics of everything. Even though the airbag was out it didn't appear to have inflated completely and the clothing my sister had on she should've had some sort of cuts, burns, abbrasions, but instead nothing but a busted heart. She also hit the windshield with her forehead. I saw no sort of residue on or in the car as evidence that the airbag did what it was supposed to. She sustained injuries common to those injuries sustained from a car not equipped with an airbag. I was even going to see if aveo came with a black box and to pull it off and have it analyzed, but the car got sent to junk yard before i could do that. No conclusion to this whole ordeal and this great loss we've suffered will ever bring her back, but knowing what i do about cars, i have so many questions and really want this looked into. I have inc reports pics of the scene with and without the car , as well as the car by itself panel for panel pics of the car. I know the aveo is not one of the vehicles named on the news, but there are other similar cars with the same issues.

The front passenger air bag light seat sensor was replaced under warranty years ago, however there has been an ongoing issues now with the front driver's side air bag light.last august it was a clockspring, a week ago it was the sdm module, now a week later they are saying it will take a new clock.dealership claims this is an ongoing issue with these cars yet there is no recall.

Noticed airbag warning light staying on all the time. Since i was only driver, i soon forgot about it. Now that wife is driving it, i became concerned. I had dealer run diagnostic and they said the air bag system checks out just fine and will function properly, but are at a loss as to why the light stays on. Further troubleshooting will involve removing the dash and an awful lot of money. Shouldn't this type of problem be covered under safety recall?

Air bag light will not turn off.

Airbag warning light stays on.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

After buying my car brand new the air bag light went on and stayed on till this day. At the beginning i thought it was only the passenger air bag and went and asked about it at the dealership where they actually informed me that it wasn't only the passenger airbag thats not working, rather none of the airbags work. That was made clear a month later when my dad, grandmother, and brother were driving it and got t-boned by a truck and of course non of the airbags went off. I mean getting tboned by a truck is pretty serious thing where air bags should deploy! the aveo is not the safest car to start out with but to also have zero airbags thats pretty messed up, pretty much a death waiting to happen, because lets be real here, i stand no chance if i get in an accident in that car. Might as well no have seat belts on there either. When contacted the dealership more than once they have nothing to say other than pay us and well look into it then you'll pay us more. I will never buy another chevrolet car again.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was confirmed the air bag was not working properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,840. Updated 7/7/15

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.the vehicle has been failing ever since it was purchased.while driving between 35-70 mph, the contact smells something burning.the contact left the vehicle at the dealer on four occasions for repair, but no work was ever performed.the road conditions were dry and sunny at the time of the incident.occasionally, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle will not switch gears and the cruise control does not operate properly.the headlights turn on and off without the vehicle turned on.the automatic door locks no longer work and the contact has to use her key to enter the vehicle.after locking the doors, they sometimes do not open from within the passenger compartment.the contact carries a hammer in the vehicle in case she has to break the windows to enter the vehicle.the current mileage was 5,080 and failure mileage was 56.updated 5/30/08 the air bag light stayed on, the trunk lid would pop open while the consumer was driving, the driver side door would open as well, the transmission had a strange roaring sound and it was also hard toupshift and downshift, the odometer would jump forward on its own when it was parked and then restarted, the horn would blow on its own when no one was in the vehicle. Updated 05/30/08

I was in an accident where the car had frontal impact damage and no air bags deployed. I hit a guardrail and a concrete wall due to black ice. The car is totaled out. I am deeply concerned that no air bags were deployed. Luckily, i was not severely injured just banged up and have pain in my neck, shoulders, and my lower back.

The air bag warning light in my 2007 chevrolet aveo continuously stayed on.upon reading the manual i found out that this could mean that in the event of a crash the air bags would not deploy and it stated to immediately get the car serviced.i immediately called the dealer, where we purchased the car for my young son, and made an appointment.i, then, researched this air bag issue on the safercar.gov website and found pages of complaints regarding the air bag warning light continuously staying on in these cars.there were also pages of complaints from people who had been in crashes where there air bags didn't deploy and one case where the air bags didn't deploy in a fatal crash.there were also service bulletins regarding counterfeit air bags being used in chevrolet aveos.however, even though there is a mountain of evidence regarding how dangerous this is and all the vehicles that have the same issue, there is still no recall.it cost me over $700 to have this problem resolved and i don't think it is our responsibility to pay for this very important lifesaving repair when it is such a prominent problem in these cars.i had no choice but to get this problem resolved as this is my young son's car.i believe no one should have to pay for these repairs and a recall is definitely warranted.what about all the people who do not have the money to get these repairs???are their lives less significant because gm doesn't want to do the right thing and fix a defect that is their responsibility and not the consumers.how many people have to die to get this issue resolved????

I have problems with whenever i go to put gas in my car, some of it goes on the ground.not all of the gas goes on the ground, but a little less than half of what i purchased.my headlights are so dim that i can't hardly see when i'm driving at night. Also, my passenger side air bag light is constantly on? there's one there and nothing bigamy wrong with it that i can see.the stereo.....only the driver side front speaker works, the other three doesn't work at all....please look into these few things or give me some sort of idea of what i can do

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.updated 05/04/17*lj

My airbag never deployed during a front end collision. My car continues to get stuck in park. The passenger side window switch does not work. The ac continuous to make a ticking sound and still does not work after replacing a valve for a leak and replacing the compressor.

The air bag light started to flicker, then stayed lit from that point. Is still lit to this day.seems as tho this is a problem in all the "07" models. It is my understanding that with this light on that the air bags will not work which in turn is a major safety factor.

1. Airbag readiness light remains on for duration of vehicle's operation.2. Driver side inside door latch is cracked and will not open door.

We purchased a new 2007 chevrolet aveo from devoe chevrolet in alexandria, indiana, on 4-12-2007. From the beginning, the passenger side front air bag has only worked intermittently. We have taken the car back to devoe several times, but they could never duplicate the problem, or find anything wrong. Yet, the problem still persisted. They did replace the seat, checked the seat with weights, etc., but it did not fix the problem.finally, when the air bag was not working with me (teresa shuman) sitting in the passenger seat, we took it to devoe, and rusty (the service department manager) sawthat the air bag was not working with me sitting in the passenger seat. They again tried to check things out for about an hour or so while we were there, but found nothing wrong. They did finally find an older bulletin from gm that said the air bag in the aveo sometimes did not work for the passenger if someone leaned back a lot (i wasn't), or if their bottom didn't fit the seat correctly. Devoe has no idea what to do at this point. We called stephanie (gm rep at 1-866-790-5700, ext 21936, case #71-692588437). Stephanie told my husband craig that there was nothing that gm can do to fix the problem. The car is still under warranty.we do not find this acceptable at all!!!! and, the air bag has not just malfunctioned with me, but also malfunctioned with some of our family and friends. We were not told, when we purchased the car, that the air bag would maybe not work, or would only work intermittently, if a person's bottom did not fit the seat correctly. The air bag has malfunctioned for overweight, under weight, and normal weight people. This is a major safety issue, especially in a car as small as the aveo!!! we cannot believe that gm more or less told us to live with this problem. Please help us . And, it's important that people who have purchased an aveo, or are thinking about purchasing an aveo, know that the passenger front air bag may not work.

2007 aveo 5 , new purchase in april 2008. 1. Highway driving is extremely scary, cannot drive at "posted speed limits in north america.roof howls & vibrates, we fear that roof will detach & blow off.tech: unable to reproduce.2. Freezing outdoor temperatures, defroster fails, needs hand toweling, excessive moisture & frozen ice on all inside windows set on "defrost/ fresh air/ high fan/ medium high heat, even after 1 hour still very humid & wet. Difficult to see clearly while driving. Tech:no fault found3.air bag warning light goes off & on when it wants, with people in both front seats.tech: unable to duplicate4. Front end groans harshly when driving over dips in road our speed bumps. Tech lubricated.11 failed attempts on our part/in letters to gm ceo's about our safety concerns-no response, interest or reply back. Service refused viewing our video of our highway driving, tired of gm service "loop hole excuses" gammot runaround system & getting know results. Please help us, we bought this car for road trips around north america, we clearly would be risking our lives doing hwy posted speeds that are as high as 80 miles per hour in some states. We are done with this aveo 5!

Passenger air bag intermittently will not engage when a passenger is in the seatthe car has been tested and it was proven to a chevy tech that this is a problem.

"passenger airbag is off" light comes on when adult is seated indicating airbag is disabled.have had it in for service four times.have been told we were not sitting in the seat properly.gm replaced seat and sensor, but did not correct the problem.last service date is 12/24/2008.was told that the problem cannot be fixed.reported at 8297 miles; current mileage is 53783.i was informed that the airbag may not deploy in an accident increasing chance of injury.

I bought a chevrolet aveo one month ago from a dealer in egypt, and when i was making a turn on the highway , i used the brakes slightly and what happened is that the car began moving on its left side , then flipped over two times on the road.the problem is that the airbags didn't open, i was injured ...when i went to the certified dealer , he told me that this car doesn't have airbags, while all the brochures on the net and on chevrolet's site say that frontal airbags is a standard feature in the car.. The other problem is that during the brake, the tires locked which made the car move by its side rather than doing the brake, and i was told that chevrolet aveo lacks abs system...i want to know the truth because i think i was deceived in the safety of this car..ps. I have the pictures of the crash..

Accident/ rear ended another vehicle in my 2007 chevy aveo 5. $3,200 damage to my car and airbags did not deploy.

Dt*: the consumer stated that after purchasing a new vehicle, the passenger side airbag intermittently went into lock mode.the vehicle was taken to a dealer who performed a diagnostic test the vehicle was currently at the dealer and was not being serviced.the vehicle was a 2007 chevrolet aveo.updated 10/25/2006 - the air bag locked in the off mode although an adult passenger (155 lbs) was in the passenger seat.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and tested.the dealer stated that their test indicated there was nothing wrong with the system.the dealer claimed that the passenger was sitting in the seat incorrectly.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.once the vehicle is shifted into park, it will not shift into any other gear.the contact managed to move the gear out of park when she stuck a sharp object into the gearbox.the vehicle has been to the dealer four times and they replaced the gear shifter, but that did not correct the failure.the dealer also thought it was the brakes, but that also did not correct the failure.a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the dealer would repair the vehicle.the contact recently noticed that the air bag light was illuminating.the dealer replaced the front driver's side air bag.the failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 37,000.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.while driving 15 mph, the passenger air bag light would not enable itself.the failure occurs intermittently and while driving various speeds.the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately four or five times.initially, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.during the second visit, a sensor was ordered.during the third visit to the dealer, they replaced and installed the new sensor, which repaired the failure for approximately one month.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the fourth time and they replaced the sdm.this temporarily corrected the failure for two or three months.the failure mileage was 2,813 and current mileage was 14,000.

Airbag did not deploy in front end crash of 40 mph.

The passenger airbag off indicator light on the dashboard remained on when thepassenger seat was occupied. This was intermittent, but more likely the indicator light was on, rather that not, indicating the passenger airbag would not deploy in the event of a collision.

Passenger air bag indicator light remains off with 140 + lb adult in passenger seat.vehicle has 2,400 miles.deal can not duplicate - says "is normal in cold weather" and to "move around on the seat" to active.restarting the car corrects the problem.

(1)passenger seat airbag sensor malfunction/ no-fix/ thus no repairpurchase new car01/20/07 and airbag light alerts occupants that (2) airbag is not engaged even when an adult is sitting in passenger seat.problem is intermittent. Took car into dealer service after a week .consequence of failure is upon a front end collison, airbag would not deploy causing increased injury to passenger occupant. (3) dealer service/chevrolet and gm state there is no fix thus no repair has been done and vehicle has been in shop since feb 2nd, just two weeks after purchase.dealer service and gm tell me that it is a 'design problem' and even replacing the seat would not correct problem as error is within seating mechanism as well.*** service/gm stated it was my fault as "customer to wide" asked my family to come to dealership.service manager inspected family then said that couldn't be it.now they are claiming, "not weigh enough" for seat to pick sense someone in seat.my family members weigh between 125-170 lbs.

Passenger's side air-bag will not activate with passenger over 100 pounds in seat.turning off and restarting the car corrects the problem.dealer checked and found nothing wrong with system, (no fault history in computer.

2007 aveo air bag system for passenger reads off. Chevrolet notified the dealer that the air bag was on eventhough it said off and would deploy if in an accident. Customer wants the problem fixed once and for all. **nar*the issue was with the sensor in the passenger seat. The sensor didn't consistently recognize when an adult occupied the seat.replacing the sensor would not correct the problem as it is a design issue with the sensors.

2007 chevy aveo with faulty passenger airbag system. Customer states the airbag light stays on when his wife is in the passenger seat indicating that the airbag is not active. He also states the light will go out intermittently.the dealer tested the unit and found that it met chevrolet standards but it did in fact have intermittent operation. The consumer believed the design of the seat sensor was defective.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.the passenger side air bag light remains illuminated when a passenger is in the seat.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to repair the vehicle.the contact called the manufacturer and was told that they were aware of the failure and are looking into possible solutions.the current and failure mileages were 543.

Passenger air bag off light does not go off with someone less than 150lbs and is intermittently going off with a 185 lb passenger meaning air bag will not deploy. Took to dealership and service department put several people in passenger seat weighing from 140lbs to 230 lbs. 140 lb passenger did not make passenger air bag off light go out. Service department states " advised by tech assist engineers looking into issue" was told by service department they would call me with some answers. No calls for six weeks, when i called them back service department states" it's out of our hands and we can't do anything about this and i can call gm customer service". Called gm customer service, and after two weeks back and forth phone calls was told by gm customer service and dealership service manager there is nothing that can be done as it is within specs. I asked where i can get a copy of these specifications for weight limit on air bags and was told to call gm. Called gm asking for weight limit specifications and stressed that a 140lb passenger should be protected. Gm representative states " we don't have the specifications and you may want to contact nhtsa. So this is what i am doing. Aveo has less than 3000 miles. I would love to just sell the car but morally and ethically i can't. I'm really tired of fighting this battle. Please help!

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.the contact stated that the passenger side air bag would not activate when his wife was in the passenger seat.his wife weighs approximately 140 pounds.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. Vehicle was parked in an airport parking lot.unexplained dashboard/electrical fire occurred at some point while parked there...vehicle was totaled.sounds like the issue in the may 21, 2014 recall.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. When the contact started the vehicle and activated the headlights, all the electrical power failed. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a shift interlock solenoid. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,587.

Clock has begun to fail, 10 weeks out of warranty.suspect electrical problem.

Dash lights quit working and could smell plastic burning from under the dash. Also the tail light on the passenger side keeps blowing fuses.

The car is having electrical problems. Started with the headlight going out on the drivers side, then the shifter started getting stuck in park. Later the dash board lights went out, along with all the gauges. Now my tail and brake lights are no longer working and when i turn off the car, the key gets stuck in the ignition and cant be removed. All this happened over a 3 day period. I took it to chevy and after 2 hours, they stated they could not identify the problem. They wanted to charge me eight additional hours of diagnostic fee at a rate of $109/hr to try and find what the problem is. I took it to another mechanic who diagnosed a problem with the fuse box. After looking online i see that this problem is common amongst hundreds of customers with aveos from 2005 up to 2009. I contacted gm and they took the stance that their technicians will have to be the ones to find the problem and they will not cover the diagnostic fee; even though i already paid the chevy dealership for 2 hours of diagnostics.at this point, i am lost because gm will not intervene and i truly trust the chevy dealership.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, there was a burning smell inside the vehicle. As a result, the instrument panel became inoperable. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into the park position. Also, the contact mentioned that the ignition key failed to disengage from the ignition. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuse box wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was 71,000.updated 4/29/15

The rear end makes aloud like whish sound when driving. The hatchback will not unlock with the key you have to crawl into the back and have someone at the rear of the car to pull while some is on the in sliding the spring . The rear plug caught on fire every since then r.p.m will not stay under 2 1/2 the accelerator goes up and down while drive it stickthe left turn signal will not shut off the wiper fluid will not work we have check all fuse and none are blew. When the fire happened the bulb in that was not even blew the dash smell like it burning and gets very hot.

The mechanical brake switch sticks in the open position.the driver depresses the brake pedal but the switch does not close and the brake lights do not come on.at least eight other complaints about this issue appear to be listed on the ntsb web site, however, many drivers appear to be unaware that the brake lights do not work and instead, they complain about a second symptom of the stuck switch: that they are unable to shift the car out of park.the owner's manual does describe a way for the driver to overcome the shift interlock problem but fails to mention that the brake lights may fail when this problem occurs.it appears that a number of people who encounter this problem continue to drive the car and rely on the shift interlock override without realizing that their brake lights are not working.i do not know if this same switch is used to disengage the cruise control, but it is common in other vehicles for the brake light switch to also disengage the cruise control.if that is the case with this model, then the stuck switch might also prevent the cruise control from disengaging when a driver taps the brakes.

2006 & 2007 chevy aveo svm models. Both alternators failed within 1 month of each other. Dealer claims to have replaced 'many' alternators for aveo model in just the last week. Dealer claims that aveo has this problem with alternators, but they are not covered under warranty. Alternator causes massive electrical problems throughout car. One car lost battery, dome light, radio, wipers, throttle sensor due to malfunctioning alternator. Alternator on aveo should be a recall item as it is a prevalent issue for the model. It should not be a 'dealer makes money' since car is 3 months out of warranty.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While driving the vehicle, the ignition key became extremely hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the ignition switch module, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.updated 09/18/15*lj

Daylight bulb fused and electrical dashboard instruments stopped working.ignition key got stuck and the gear changing stick would not get out of parking gear.there was a faint burning smell. Similar incidence has happened multiple times, everytime. Within 2 weeks of repair.

About a week ago i started smelling something burning. Thought i was mistaken. Tried to crank the car today and the battery was dead. Had a relative jump it and found the daytime running lights stay on even when the car is off. In researching what the problem could be i found that a recall has been issued regarding the daytime running lights module but i have not received a notice yet. I only have this one vehicle and i cannot get anyone to call me about getting this problem fixed. You would think that with all the bad publicity gm is getting at this time they would want to assist quickly. Nope. I am also dealing with my daughters car which is an hhr that has had the ignition switch recalled and i was advised today that it could take 8 weeks for the part to come in. Really? i am very concerned because my 3 year old grandson rides in both these cars. I am filing this hoping someone contacts me. Next step is ken amaro.

Been smelling something that similar to plastic but could not locate anything but now i have had multiple fuses blown for low beams and drl.ultimately all dashboard lights have now gone out along with no tail lights or low beams or drls at all and no horn.dealer is saying that the fuse block is going to have to be replaced but the car only has 83,000 and noticed that there was a recall out there for the drl module melting or catching on fire but low and behold my car is not on that recall but looks to me that it should be.in addition to the lights not working correctly, the gear shifter will not come out of park and the key will not release from the ignition switch.i did also think it odd that my key would be hot to touch when it would release on previous occasions leading up to this failure.the first instance when the failure initially started with the lights and all that i could notice was while i was in a parking lot cranking the car,but the second time after changing out the fuse, the fuse blew again after i was driving on the road in 5 o'clock traffic.

The gearshaft won't come out of park. I had this repaired at the dealership about two years ago and it is now happening again and paid $300 for a ground wire. My car currently has 90000 miles on it. I would like to file a formal compliant regarding the same issue. Please contact me asap i can be reached at [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Air bag light come on and will not go off

Unable to move gear frompark to drive over seven times mechanic informed failure in gear box also informed that this is a manufacturring defect.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While the vehicle was parked or while driving, a burning electrical odor was detected in the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the odor could not be determined. The contact was referred to an electrical specialist by the independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not diagnosed due to the diagnostic fees. The contact stated that the independent mechanic advised her to disconnect the vehicle's battery. The contact researched the issues online and found nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting), but the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, confirmed that the vin was not included in the recall, and referred the contact to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.updated 10/25/17*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle was traded in.

The airbag warning light came on. First diagnostic by the gm dealership pointed to a 12v power loss. Then after ~2 months the airbag light came on again.an independent car repair shop tested for 2 hours per trouble code and found the root cause was the time clock in the dashboard. Light stayed off when clock was replaced (repeated twice with original time clock). Light is off since 1 week after multiple car trips. Why does the time clock causes the airbag warning light to come on and potentially disable the airbag system.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that burning fumes emitted from the engine compartment and the battery was drained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the battery was replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for the diagnostic testing. The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the speedometer displayed a reading of 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was left in the possession of the dealer because the contact refused to drive it home. Upon further examination, the dealer stated that failure codes for the fuel tank and evap hose appeared during a diagnosis. The failure codes were reset. Approximately one year later the failure recurred. An authorized dealer was notified and the contact was informed that she would have to cover the repair expenses because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 57,665 and the current mileage was 88,194.

12/30/07i was driving home from work, the battery light and brake light stayed on while driving, then the car suddenly started to lose power, all of the interior lights went off,the radio and heater went off,the headlights dimmed. I went into the dealership the next day, they had it until the 1/3/08"could not duplicate the problem".we picked up the car from the dealership, and drove it home. That night, the electrical problem started again, but the car died and would not start. We had it towed. They said that it started for them the next day, and they "could not duplicate" the problem, it had a low battery, they charged the battery. On the 17th the car had the low battery light and brake light on again while driving, so we were driving to the dealership, but on the way, it had the same "symptoms" and died,it was towed. They said"could not duplicate the problem". All they did was "drive it 15 miles one day" then "6 miles another". I picked the car up on the 21st because they were not doing anything to find or fix the problem. That evening the airbag light in the car came on and stayed on, so i brought it in on the way to work, they "forgot" to clear the codes in the car computer. On 1/29 (daytime), the car died again, with the same "symptoms" leading up to it. I called the dealership to have them come and look at the problem. They said on site "something looks loose",so they had it towed to the dealership, and when i went to pick up the car the next day the only thing they did was replace the battery. I got into my car and turned it on, and the brake and battery light stayed on even when the parking brake was not engaged. I went into the service center to tell them the problem, and they kept my car until friday. They replaced the ignition switch. Today, 2/7,i turned on my car, and the brake and battery light stayed on while i started driving to work. I intended to go to the dealership, but before i got there the two lights(battery and brake)turned off.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the valve cover gasket emitted oil over the engine and the vehicle would need a fuel system flush. In addition, the water pump and timing belt would need to be replaced.the vehicle was repaired yet one week later, all of the warning lights were illuminated as the vehicle stalled soon afterward.the vehicle was then towed to the dealer who stated that the alternator was defective and would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 75,179.

The dashboard over the speedometer becomes very hot and the key is hot when removed.i feel this may be related to recall 14236 regarding running lights.i am concerned about the recall 06133 regarding fuel line/fuse block as well.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. When the contact pulled in the driveway and attempted to turn off the vehicle, the electrical power shut off. As a result, the contact was unable to roll the windows up or down, unlock the door with the switch, and the key would not turn to the off position in the ignition. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I bought this 2007 chevy aveo brand new with only 9 miles on it. After i put about 33,000 miles the a/c went out... On a brand new car! then the console with the shifters lights went out, blinkers would stop blinking and just stay green. I went to start my car at 10pm and it wouldn't start it acted like it was going to be then kept clicking. So i jumped it and drove around to charge the battery. I had the battery tested and they said everything was fine. Go back and the next morning it doesn't start again, all i got was a clicking sound when trying to start the car. I took it to a mechanic and he said that it could be the starter or the alternator and that i should pay to get them both tested and replaced if needed. There has got to be some type of a recall if i google it and everyone has the same electrical and engine problems. There is no way that a 3 year old car should be needing major a/c repairs, electrical, and engine repairs so soon. Please please please look into this!!

During hot wether or when the heater is on, the car radio wont operate.

Brake lights do not operate.they just quit working.checked all fuses and lights.cruise control no longer works--just stopped.

I was about to pay off my 2007 chevy aveo....i am having electrical problems....when i was driving i notice that sometimes the dash lights and controlsand the radio and electrical systems die....they come and go...if i try to park while this is happening....my key gets stuck in the ignition...i can start the car but cannot shift gears...stays in park....when i try to turn the car off...the key is stuck in the ignition....it is a problem that comes and goes....took to the dealer....rented a car and left it there for 1 week....they said it was a fuse block....they were speculating because the car would not do it for them......i paid 700 plus 300 for the rental....one week later it did it again....left it with a mechanic friend for 5 weeks....he thought it was an ignition switch....replaced it....but it is doing it again.....no one seems to be able to help me.....we cannot go anywhere because we are afraid we will get stranded....keeping paying money to mechanics who are not fixing the problem.....someone please help me....

My airbag never deployed during a front end collision. My car continues to get stuck in park. The passenger side window switch does not work. The ac continuous to make a ticking sound and still does not work after replacing a valve for a leak and replacing the compressor.

Key got "stuck in ignition" and would not come out. My car in not on the gm recall list so dealer wanted to charge me an arm and two legs to fix. Took to an auto repair shop. How do cars get added to the recall list? mine should definitely be on this one for ignition problem to the tune of $357.

The daytime running lights module had a recall on it. I made an apt at the local dealer last week and made an appointment today to get the recall done. Recall number is 14236. They did not fix it, said they didn't have the part even though i contacted them last week and gave them the vin and the recall number. I picked up the car with the intent of taking it to another dealer and it caught fire on the way home and destroyed the car.

Out of no where it cought on fire

I was driving to my mother's house, the car was not shifting right and the engine was whining, all of a sudden i smelled smoke and seen fire under the hood. Gm would only fix the harness , the vehicle would start again but you could not drive it. No power in the engine. So i had to eat $6400.00 dollars i owed and traded it with carbone auto in yorkville new york. They sold me a car with the abs lights on the traction lights on, the tire pressure lights come on and my doors lock and i have to climb over to the other seat to get out. The salesman knew these lights were on before i signed the papers and my car is still not fixed. This past winter i had no heat and got caught in an ice storm and my windows iced right over i could not see and hit a pole by my driveway and dented and scratch the whole right side of my car. It is carbone auto that made it so my aveo caught fire. They would not fix it, the car would never shift right the motor would whine out and they said oh that is the way a 1.6 liter car runs. I had the fidelity extract warranty and they would not fix the aveo i have lost 6400 dollars on these cars and it is the dealers fault, what do i do nowmy 2008 impala vin is [xxx] the salesman name is [xxx]he knew these lights were on before i signed the papers he said it would be fixed. 8 months later still not fixed. I bought this car 8 mths ago, a few weeks after i bought the car the windshield wiper just flew off, a few weeks after that the cruise control quit working, a month after that the a/c kept switching off on its own and back on hours later, now the engine light has come on and the car hesitates and doesn't appear to be shifting gears when its suppose to, i took it to the dealer, they said it was a pcm update which they didn't charge me, a few days later it is hesitating again, the engine light is back on, the cruise control still doesn't work. Talk about a lemon.

My daughter was driving this vehicle when the engine died at highway speed.she lost all power assist systems including power steering and brakes.she placed the car in neutral, at speed, restarted the vehicle and continued to travel without incident.

I have a 2007 chevy aveo that i've had to replace the drivers side> headlight on 5 times in the 4 yrs i've had it. Also, for the past 2 yrs i> haven't had any radio lights. There's a recall on the running light> modules for this year, the cars can catch fire. Recall number: 14v261000. The module on my car is melted and black. I have pictures of this. I've called chevy several times > but get told there's no recall on my car. Do i have to wait until the car catches fire to do be able to do something about this?

After starting car, i was unable to disengage the car from the parking position. Was only able to get car out the park position by jamming a metal device into the manual shift lock release position.ended having car towed to mechanic who diagnosed problem as needing a new fuse box.however, after first drive home, back to original problem: cannot remove key from ignition and if i do drive, electrical power goes out.

My chevy aveo has had el cervical issues for the last 3 years. I have noticed that there is a recall for this year on lighting but my vin is not associated with this recall and i am having the sam issues. And now nothing on the drivers side of my car is working. Blinkers, brake light and more. My light for my radio do not work as well. I have 2 kids and my car is not safe with the electrical issues going on with it. I have called the chevrolet garage where it was purchased and all i am being told is there anything s nothing they can do cause my vin is not listed with the recalls. I need my car fixed especially with it having the same issues as the recalled 2007 aveos.

Ignition key gets hot to touch after driving car. Unsure what cause is....this happens after every drive....did not think about it until recall notice.

I was driving 65 mph on the highway, when all of a sudden my rpms dropped to zero and i could no longer accelerate. I had to cut across two lanes of traffic to safely make it to the shoulder of the road. I later found out that my timing belt had snapped, causing internal damage to my engine and causing my car to break down in the middle of cruising on the highway.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While driving 10 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle's speed decreased. The dealer stated that the throttle body shorted out. The mechanic replaced the throttle body, performed a double intake service, and treated the fuel with ethanol. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 10,966.

Engine shuts down while driving as if ignition turned off. Cannot get out of park.air conditioner stopped in 2010, 2011, 2013air bag lights on dashboard on since 2010.

I was driving through town, all of a sudden i had no rpm's andthe car came to a complete stop . Called a tow service and had it towed, the mechanic explained to me that the timing belt had snapped and it has caused internal damage to the engine. From the research i have done online, this seems to be an ongoing problem with chevrolet, i just hate to think what would have happened had it been on a busy highway, because i had no warning.

Timing belt breaks too often. The car has now had the timing belt replace 3 timessince i have owned it i bought it at 69,000 miles i was replaced at around 74k then broke and left me stranded on the side of the road at night time after hours at 121k then has broke again at 134k this is supposed to be a 60k part and is not lasting like it should and when it breaks causes other stuff around it to be affected as well. The first time i had to replace water pump, the 2nd time water pump as well as engine gaskets and it cost me $2600 to fix. This last time just the water pump and a water hose. This last time it left my daughter stranded on the side of the road after dark on her way home from college luckily her boyfriend was able to come pick her up. This car is notorious for the timing belt issue. All three times this has been repaired by 3 different shops and all three say that this car has major issues due to the timing belts not being sturdy. Chevy should be replacing these cars or refunding the cost of having these repaired you can't even resell to people due to this issue. Also i never even got a letter regarding the head lamp recall. I am just wondering if chevy is waiting till people blow up in their cars.

I was driving on the highway and the car smelled like it was burning. And, smoke began to come from underneath the hood.i got off the freeway and i parked the car in front of a store.. I opened the hood and a mist of smoke wasflowing from the transmission. I thought my car was going to go up in flames because it smelled like burning wires. I don't drive my car everyday so i should not be having these problems with my car. I also saw oil leaking from the manifold. I asked my brother to see it and that'swhat he told me. I was afraid to drive my car home. I drove it slowly home.

My engine light started coming on, so i took it to my mechanic and they did a diagnostic test on my 2007 chevy aveo. They found that it had the same problem the toyotas had when recalled. It is the throttle position sensor accelerator position sensor. I was told that if it don't get fixed, either the gas pedal will stick or it could just stop and not go anywhere. I have only had the car almost 1 yr. And it only has 44,000 miles on it.

Back in may of 2008 i picked my son up from school, i smelled a smelled like antifreeze.i stopped at the store but i didn't think it was my car.about an hour later, when we went to church, i smelled the same smell, being we were the only car in the parking lot, i knew then it had to be my car.we put water in it and waited until the next morning to take to the dealership we purchased the car from.they said it appeared that i had hit something and the bottom of the radiator was damaged however i kept saying i didn't hit anything and they told me to try to turn it in to my insurance and see it they would cover it.one man even walked me to the car and said if i needed help that "help me out".that afternoon i was on the phone with the insurance company telling them exactly what the dealership said that i had to have hit something but i didn't remember hitting anything would they cover it.in the end the insurance company covered the repair of the radiator plus 5 days of rental car.when we went to have the repair done on the radiator, we asked for the old radiator back.my husband took it back to his shop and did a pressure test on it.the hole was actually in the middle of it not in the bottom and you could see where the fan shroud lined up where the radiator mounts to it and it had rubbed a hole in it causing this whole problem.even though the insurance covered this, i still thought retribution needed to be made because perhaps this was a lemon car or either a recall needed to be done.this happened at 23,000 miles approximately.then the following month the same fan shroud rubbed a hole in the air condition line and we were without air about 2,000 miles later and the dealership took responsibility for this and covered this under the warranty.it really didn't make any sense.i have called gmac and they have said the dealership are their eyes and ears and we have given them the old radiator back so they could see what we saw .

On december 8, 2007 i took the 2007 chevy aveo into the dealership because the check engine light was on and the car would act like it was going to stall.the dealer had my vehicle 11 days and replaced 3 gaskets, 2 valves 4 seals and changed the fluids, vehicle was at 13,143 miles.vehicle was then taken back in february x 2 and march to dealership in which i bought vehiclefor the same problem check engine light on and all 3 times the computer would register it was the throttle body and they did nothing and they treated me with no respect.i then took to another dealer and they could not do anything until the light came back on.as anyone knows it takes the computer sometimes up to 300 miles to reset itself.so when the check engine light came back on 3 weeks later i took back to dealer and they stated that it was the trottleboday and it was just recalled 2 weeks prior.all the wastedgas and time.i was in contact with general motors the whole time and they did nothing for me i had the supervisor tell me after the throttlebody was replacedthey would nothing for my time and wasted gas and very ruse man.and now my vehicle is back in the shop for the 6th time in the last 2 months because the check engine light was back on and she was losing power again. They have now replaced spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, fuel injectors., values and cam shaft. So now after 12 visits to the shop almost 35 days without my vehicle being in commission i am filing for the lemon law.i will never purchase another gm vehicle again.anyone who is having anytype of problems with their vehicle there are laws out there that protect you.yes it will cost me money to file it , but it will be worth it in theend. And word of wise always keep documentation on anything you have done to your vehicle you never know when you are going to need it.

Headlight failed.i have owned this auto 4 years and have had to replace 6 headlights.i just got a ticket because my headlight was out, and i had replaced a headlight less than 3 months ago.i have never had to replace so many headlights in one vehicle in all my 49 years of driving.these headlights cannot be replaced by the owner, because it requires specialized tools.i have to take my vehicle in for service every time a headlight goes out, so the cost in 3x what the lamp alone costs at a parts store.something is wrong with the design of this vehicle.

My headlights are grey on the bottom so i can't see to drive at night. I changed headlights but there appeared to be a big problem installing the new lights. I paid $60.00 for the new lights.there was no improvement. I still can't see to drive at night.

In july 2014, i received a recall notice #14093 from chevrolet/gm advising of a fire hazard involving my daytime running headlights.the notice advised the parts are not currently available...i called their 800 number several times up through today to check on getting this hazard fixed.unfortunately, today is 11-22-14, and they still are not ready to remedy the hazard. In addition, my interior light stopped working a few months ago, and it's not the light bulb because i replaced it. I would like this repaired too.i do not feel safe in my car, and in light of the fact that four months have now gone by since the recall notice, i strongly feel that chevrolet/gm should offer/pay for a safe loaner vehicle until they remove the fire hazard.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The dashboard over the speedometer becomes very hot and the key is hot when removed.i feel this may be related to recall 14236 regarding running lights.i am concerned about the recall 06133 regarding fuel line/fuse block as well.

Have to change headlights every other month. When i change one the other went out immediatelly. Should not have to change headlight bulbs. Told dealer he said by bulb from them?? i bought correct bulb???? this has been ongoing since i bought car in 2010..ive replaced over 7/8 times.

Recall for daylight running lights over heating didn't apply to my particular car, but seems to be a problem in my car regardless. Ground wires in my headlight assembly have fried and left scorch marks on headlight connection. No actual fire yet just a melted plastic under the hood. Not sure if my car is invalid as have been fixed or just not covered but in either case part is failing.

Since the drl module was replaced as a recall item, i have had to replace each headlight every 2-8 weeks due to burning out. There is obviously a problem with the so-called "repair."

Out of no where it cought on fire

Dash lights quit working and could smell plastic burning from under the dash. Also the tail light on the passenger side keeps blowing fuses.

Daytime running lights suddenly turned off while driving and now headlights don't work at all.

Both headlights on the low beam setting failed to work.high beams worked as they should.fuses, headlight switch, parking brake switch, and relays checked out ok.the assumption is that a voltage spike burned out the low side of the bulbs at the same time without blowing any fuses.this was discovered during the day rather than at night.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated the front headlights malfunctioned.the contact stated that the high beams and the daytime running lights were operable but not the headlights.the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the bulb and fuse replaced but the replacement did not remedy the issue.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer a third time and the dealer stated that the entire fuse box needed to be replaced.the contact was unable to have the fuse box replaced because the part was no longer being manufactured and there was not an aftermarket part available for purchase. The contact believed the vehicle was unsafe to drive because the headlights continuously malfunctioned while driving at night.the failure mileage was 75,000.

Unsure what is going o. But turned on running lights and one head light comes on with it and turn it to auto for the lights and the other side turns one and the other side isn't working.

Brake lights do not operate.they just quit working.checked all fuses and lights.cruise control no longer works--just stopped.

I was traveling on the kansas turnpike returning home from a family funeral when i noticed smoke coming from under the steering wheel. I pulled to the side of the road at mile marker 116. My son and i both got out of the car and within 5 minutes flames began shooting out from around the steering wheel. It took state troopers approx 10 to 15 minutes to arrive on scene and approx 20 to 25 minutes for the fire dept to arrive. By the time state patrol arrived on scene the car was fully engulfed in flames.

I had stated my 2007 chevy aveo, pulled the parking brake very tight.when i returned the car had rolled down the drive and into a neighbors tree.my first thought was, duh, i didn't pull the brake.i got in the car, and the brake was not only pulled, but was only 1 click away from being fully engaged.the driveway my car was on, was no more than a 10-15 degree angel, the car was not loaded with a lot of excess weight. Again the parking brake was fully engaged.why in the world did this simple part fail?it seems to work now, but that second it failed.my car was only damaged it is only a matter of time before someone is killed from a rolling aveo that was in park.thank you for your time.

While car was parked i was unable to shift to drive. I had to call a tow truck to my job and have it towed. Luckily the tow guy knew where the emergency bypass was or else i would have had to wait for a crane to lift it. At the dealership they had to replace my brake sensor and my gear shift. According to tow guy this is happening alot. Thank goodness i wasn't driving it when it happened.

The gearshaft won't come out of park. I had this repaired at the dealership about two years ago and it is now happening again and paid $300 for a ground wire. My car currently has 90000 miles on it.

Chevrolet aveo 2007 abs braking system failure to brake during slow speeds and one time on the highway. I currently have 98,000+ miles on a chevrolet aveo 2007 and while recently getting several services completed in the $500 range i got new brake pads on my vehicle because they were worm out. I was also having breaking problems while parking my vehicle. The abs don't allow the breaks to engage and i have to use the emergency break. Its now been around 3 months since november 2009 when the abs breaking system began to fail and my vehicle stopping has gotten worse. The dealer refuses to cover the parts under warranty nor to check the problem for free. I have replaced the fuse when this first occurred as hearing the pcm can reset causing the system to work again as it did until this year. I recently brought my vehicle into the chevrolet dealer whom has recently diagnosed my vehicle for $69.99 plus tax. A speed sensor bad was diagnosed and is getting fixed. The dealer told me this part isn't covered under warranty and cost $150. The abs going bad on the highway was the final call when pulling off the interstate at 35 mph and during parking/slow speeds i'm required to use the parking break. The warranty doesn't cover this part and costs $150.00 plus labor hours. I feel as this is a safety recall issue and should be covered by the dealer. Based on being required to use the emergency break to stop my vehicle during some stops i find this a very huge safety concern.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo.while making a turn between 5-10 mph, the contact heard a grinding noise coming from the front end of the vehicle.the dealer replaced the front wheel bearings and checked the air pressure, but the failure continued.the vehicle was taken to another dealer and they performed an unknown repair.the dealer stated that the grinding noise would return in a few months because the failure was normal.the contact noticed oil leaking onto the ground.the dealer confirmed that the oil pump gasket was leaking and the dealer replaced the gasket.the failure mileage was 6,751 and current mileage was 18,000.

The abs warning light comes on after brake failure. Sometimes while driving the vehicle or making right turn bends my brakes fail and i can not stop if i had to. This is a very important problem that needs to be corrected. I have almost had numerous accidents because of this problem!! it can be fixed butchevrolet should fix it at no cost to me. It is a safety recall as far as i am concerned! this is not a minor problem and other vehicles of my make, model, and year are more than likely experiencing the same problems that i am having! the exact part that needs to be replaced are the abs wheel speed sensors for the front left and right brake.

Current model chevrolet aveo rented from enterprise car rental chicago office. Only car i've ever driven with accelerator pedal higher from the floor than brake pedal. Accelerator also very close to brake pedal. In process of moving foot tobrake, it was difficult not to make contact with accelerator. On one occasion, contact was accidentally made with the accelerator when attempting to brake and the car lunged into traffic from parking lot. Because of vigilance of other driver, an accident was avoided, but narrowly. Assuming not a sample defect, this appears to be design flaw.updated 12/12/07

By the time state patrol arrived on scene the car was fully engulfed in flames.

I have a2007 chevy aveo (only had it for six months) that pullsto the left whenever i let go of the wheel. Not just a slight pull but a serious pull. The service people told me that when they asked their main tech's they were told that's just the nature of smaller cars. Only thing they said to do was to change the tires from one side to another, that could fix it. Well it didn't. The service manager said they can do what's called an adjustment misalignment, won't that cause trouble with the other parts of the car? i have had smaller cars than this and they never did pull to one side or the other. Why does this one act different, and not since i bought it but it just started? i am not happy about the problem and the company not doing anything to correct it.

My ca r has excessive tire ware have 147000 miles purchased with 42000 i am on 6th set of tireshave used three brands. Some tires as little as 15000 mileshavehad it checked for alignment which wasat specs.this problem has resulted in sudden loss of air pressure with near collision. This to me isa huge safetyproblem and needs gm to back up this problem and make corrections.

Sometimes when it is windy specially on the bridges or highway,or when a semi comes from opposite direction, the car will sort of jerk & get a loud squealing noise and the force will make the car to be very unstable while driving like if the car would be pulled by a great force, i told the dealer on numerous occasions about the problem and even showed them a video recording i did while driving the vehicle and they never did anything about it. This vehicle has become a greatrisk for me and my family and im scared of even going on trips with this car.

Sometimes when it is windy,or when a semi comes from opposite direction, the car will sort of jerk & get a loud squealing noise. Have told the dealer where we got the car twice now & they said it is just a noise from the aerodynamics .i have asked another person if they had this with their aveo & they said no. This has happened a lot for the last several months. There were times in both 2007 & 2008.

There was a recall on my vehical, the one listed above. But there is no way to get it fixed because the part in unavailable... How am i suppost to resolve this problem if i can't get it fixed.

Dashboard caught fire whilst car was parked for hours in secure parking lot. Car fire was put off by firefighters who cut battery and cables broke windows in order to stop fire. Now car does not turn on at all and dashboard center is completely melted.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure was not determined. The local dealer was not contacted. -the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While the contact was driving approximately 2 mph the accelerator pedal was engaged which there was no power response. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The computerized system code was reset. However, the contact was uncertain of the other service performed on the vehicle.

A pinhead size chip on the passenger side windshield base has created a crack spreading across the middle of the windshield. I believe this is a flaw in the windshield design, factory installation, and/or aerodynamic design. My web research has shown that other chevrolet owners have had this problem with the aveo and other models. The dealership does not accept any warranty responsibility.

The antenna module has went out 2 times. When this happens you cannot play the radio due to major static when you turn on the rear defroster.

When turning on wipers the wiper control arm detaches and wipers won't work.

A stress crack in my windshield.the crack starts under the rubber casing of the windshield.i awoke in the morning after an extremely humid night followed by a cold morning to find my windshield with a hairline crack.dealer said this isn't a problem.i have researched the internet and found several complaints from the 04 through 07 model of the aveo with the same problem.my glass tech said this the crack is very likely due to a structural defect.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet aveo. While driving approximately 35 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to vibrate and wobble. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the frontal shocks, rotors and struts were causing the failure and would have to be replaced. The rims were also replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,800.
