I havea2006 chevrolet aveo. The airbag readiness light stays on after automobile is started. The owners manual says not to drive this vehicle. Airbags may not inflate in a crash or may inflate without a crash. This is the second time this has happened. The first was in january 2008. Was covered under warranty. This time it is not. I don't think i should be responsible for the cost of this repair. It is a safety feature and is not something i can repair myself. Why should i be responsible for their defect?

I fell asleep at the wheel went through the median while driving down the interstate where the speed limit is 80 outside douglas wyoming. As i woke when the car was in the middle of the median my car impacted a concrete culvert and went through the guard rail onto the other side of the interstate where it finally can to a stop across the other two lanes of on coming traffic all with no air bag deployment.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact was driving 30 mph and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a concussion and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the air bags did not deploy because they were stuck. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

I have a 2006 chevrolet aveo 5 door. I purchased the vehicle brand new. At 32,000 miles the airbag mil came on, not due to any accident or other event which could have caused a problem with the airbags. I returned the car to the chevrolet dealership; they said the issue was due to a loose connection at the steering wheel which they had corrected. Later that day, while driving, the airbag mil came on once again, not due to any accident or other event which could have caused a problem with the airbags. The dealership told me that this was a "normal" problem on this car and that i would have to return the car to them for an extended period of time for further diagnosis and repair. I am currently pursuing getting the car repaired by a different dealer. I am concerned, as i have heard of many airbag-related issues with aveos. I would not think that this is a "normal" problem on any type of vehicle. I am concerned about the overall quality and reliability of the supplemental restraint system on these vehicles. Please note, "airbag mil" above should not be taken to mean the "passenger airbag off" indicator; the mil is the red light indicating a problem with the airbag system, not the orange light indicating its status. I would appreciate it if more data about this issue on aveos could be made available.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving various speeds and while stationary, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to freeland chevrolet in nashville, tennessee where it was diagnosed that a spring coil in the air bag system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. The vin was not available. Updated 09/01/17*lj1

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,000.

2006 chevrolet aveo.consumer writes in regards to vehicle multiple mechanical and electrical problems.the consumer stated she experienced multiple mechanical and electrical problems with the vehicle. It was not disclosed to her, that the vehicle had frame damage, it was a fleet vehicle, and the air bags were replaced with used ones. While driving 45 mph, a bolt in the broke, which caused the engine to collapse and landed on the axle, breaking it on the driver's side. Also, she had the axle replaced previously, not knowing there was a problem with the frame. Due to the frame damage and warped undercarriage, a bolt connected to the frame that was connected to the motor mount hidden under the engine had previously bent and severed 3/4 of the way through the bolt. It went un-detected and her mechanic didn't know what to look for, since the frame was not disclosed.

2005 and 2006 chevrolet aveo the steering area was heating up.*mwthe consumer was informed the parts were not available.

Hit from behind with a car pushed my car into a vehicle in front of me. Drivers front air bag deployed. It completely blew up; burning my hand and arm. There was mostly second degree burns. There was some parts on the arm later showing third degree burns. The car i was driving was determined to be totaled.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle involuntary accelerated and the braking ability seized. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

I have a 2006 chevy aveo and the airbag warning light has been on even after replacing the sensor...they say it is a common problem but i believe that when an airbag could deploy at any minute or not deploy at all then there is a problem with that...all they say is that after they replace the switch that it will be fine...well everytime they do that then a week later the sensor goes bad again my car has been in the shot 3 times for just this one problem and i know others with the same car as mine that are having the same problems as me...

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly independently into a pole. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There were injuries to the contact's neck, back and leg. There was medical attention required. The vehicle was towed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Consumer complaint: odi case number: 10244499 component: air bags:frontaldetails: passenger air bag off -- indicator is lit. Will not engage passenger safety air bag when wife, weighing 105 pounds is in seat. Chevrolet dealer cannot fix.

I have a chevy aveo 2006 and the airbag light for the driver is on, that means it has an issue. For almost 7 weeks the gm dealer is trying to fix it without any results. They gave me the car back a couple times but the problem was not fixed. I had a similar issue with this car in 2007. This is a major safety problem and it looks like my aveo is not only one with this issue. Please investigate this, i?d like gm to fix this problem or to take the car back, i don?t feel safe anymore with driving this car!thank you!

So i was at home and my car was parked outside and it caught on fire in the inside. The fire department came and put out the fire. It damaged the dashboard and the window. I have read that it is a recall on my vehicle which causes it to catch on fire.manufacturer recall numbera140093nhtsa recall number14v261recall statusrecall incomplete

I have a 2006 chevrolet aveo lt that i purchased new, and it currently has less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. It failed virginia safety inspection because the airbag warning light was on.i took the car to the hudgins holiday chevrolet dealership in williamsburg, virginia on november 5, 2014 to have it repaired.after a through diagnosis, they informed me that the problem was a faulty passenger seat occupancy sensor, and it will cost $1,152.00 to replace the sensor. I searched the web and discovered that this appears to be a very common problem for the aveo. I found a considerable number of entries where other aveo owners have had the same problem.since this a safety issue, because the passenger airbag will not deploy in a crash, and since it seems to effect many aveos, i feel this problem should be the subject of a recall, or as a minimum, gm should replace the sensor at no cost to the effected aveo owners.

The same time the recall fordaytime running lights module came my daytime running lights indicator started flashing and my airbag light came on. I took it to dealer to fix daytime running lights module, i also had airbag light check and they said the wiring harness melted and it cost me over $300.00 to fix. Is this connected to daytime running light module problem? if so i would like my money back! let me know please.

The passenger airbag sensor never turns off, even when someone is sitting in the seat.all of the instrument panel gauges periodically stop working and the instrument panel cluster fuse blows frequently.also have to frequently use the shift-lock release feature in order to get the car out of park.have had previous problems with the key getting stuck in the ignition.the daytime running lights also periodically stop working (they turn on and off randomly).have needed to have damaged wires in the hood compartment fuse box replaced, but all problems keep coming back.can no longer afford to keep taking the car in for repairs and cannot afford a new car, so i am currently driving with all of these problems.i do not ever feel safe in the car and avoid taking it anywhere unless i absolutely have to.many of these same problems have been reported by other owners and there needs to be more recalls than just the current fire hazard recall.

My airbag light came on & stays on.looked up recall its not listed.

In october 2016 my 2006 chevrolet aveo ls hatchback's battery died, unable to jumpstart anymore.i replaced the battery and the airbag light on the dash has illuminated solid since.the vehicle was not in an accident. The gm dealership i took it too wasn't able to determine the cause. The vehicle had 130,000 miles at the time the battery died and the airbag light illuminated. The vehicle was stationary at the time the airbag light illuminated. I now do not allow anyone to ride with me because i'm afraid that the airbags will malfunction.

My 06 chevy aveo has had issues since i purchased it last year. Unfortunately i am still making payments on this paperweight. I will never buy another cheverolet again. Thats my largest issue is that i bought a chevy. Air bag light came on after having the battery dead twice because of the alternator going bad twice. Im up for inspection and this car will not pass. Reading how this issue has never been resolved for anyone and chevrolet wont own up and take responsibility forvery important safety feature, whats the point in even trying but to throw this vehicle in the garbage? last time i took my aveo in for a recall on the module, they said they fixed it and they did not because its still burning up, so i just try to not drive at night. I have a two year old and three year old and if those airbags randomly deploy and we get into a car accident, they are going to have a lawsuit on their hands.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the contact stated that the air bag warning light would illuminate sporadically.the dealer replaced the connectors located under the driver's seat.the manufacturer was contacted and denied any assistance with repairs to the failure.the vehicle was repaired.the failure and the current mileage was 65,383. The consumer stated the air bad light came on at least three times. The believed the problme was a loose connection under the driver's seat. Updated 02/24/12

Three times in the last year my airbag system malfunctioned. April, 2008 dealer stated that there was an electrical problem. Then april of this year i had it repaired twice. They stated that there was another electrical problem.

Both the drivers and passengers airbag lights remain on no matter if parked or driving.both driver and passenger airbags do not appear to be working.fear that bags will not deploy in a crash.feel gm needs to recall this issue, dealers are clueless, i do not intent to have this fixed or even diagnosed based on the sheer quantity of same/similar complains with no clear cut resolution.passenger airbag off light remains on at all times whether someone is sitting in the seat or not, driver's side airbag light remains on at all times no matter if parked, running, in reverse, neutral, or drive.i seriously hope this car doesn't kill me.seems with all of the airbag safety recalls, this one needs to be added.it is a safety issue that could cause death.

The airbag light would not turn off, still at the dealer waiting for a part to come in, it was a faulty fuse in the steering wheel if in a accident airbags would not deploy. 2.the heat started working less and less, when i would come to a stop the air would come out cold, it felt like i had the air conditioning on. If it sat for too longthe temperature would start to rise and it would start to overheat.

2006 aveo red air bag light stays on. Car has high miles but air bag problems seem to be rampant in these cars no matter the mileage. Gm should be ashamed of themselves. I have not seen anything like this, most manufacturers care about the safety of their customers.

Airbag error light is on.taken to dealership and tested. Technician found that the seat connectors are defective causing a high resistance in the circuit. Airbags may not deploy. Connectors need replaced. Wiring harness needs repaired/replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the contact stated that the air bag readiness light illuminated on the instrument panel, which meant the air bags could deploy at any moment.the dealer advised her to bring in the vehicle; however, the contact has not done so at this time.she believes that this is a safety hazard.the current and failure mileages were 81,713.

2006 chevy aveo i got my daughter this car it seemed to be great when we first got aveo last year we had to replace the brake switch. There wiring issues air bag lights on and clock comes on and off this year odometer mileage is fading and headlights on no light for mileage. Low fuel and low water does not come on and on the 7/1 and two times on 7/4 her speedometer is not reading right it read 15 miles off from what the car is going faster. The three times getting pulled over and she said the gauge been acting weird then goes back to normal the one cop said i know thats why i don't have one of these cars and still gave her a ticket. So now the car sits until the recall but the best thing ( not ) i have two aveos my husbands that sit and we get to share between the three of us is my van that's a dodge. I cant believe wiring heating up by the day time module that will catch fire and it taking this long safety and chevy has nothing on there site for the recall wow.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving at approximately 60 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air bag warning indicator was functioning properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. The vin was not available.

The airbag light on the dashboard of my 2006 chevrolet aveo came on at about 110,000 miles.i worry that the bag could spontaneously deploy, or fail to deploy when it should.having read the other complaints of dealers not being able to fix the problem, i hesitate to spend money i can't spare on a "fix" that doesn't work.chevrolet should solve this problem and issue a recall for models that use this type of airbag.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. Upon starting thevehicle the air bag off light illuminated on the dashboard. Thevehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where he was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the air bag off light continues to illuminate. The failure and current mileages were 50,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that while driving at a low speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was unknown.

A deer was hit in the front hood and bumper of this car while driving on a straight section of county road and none of the airbags deployed.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While attempting to park the vehicle, it failed to stop when applying the brakes. Instead, the tires spun in place and the vehicle took off and eventually crashed into a light post. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed and a police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

Back in june of 2008, if filed a complaint with chevrolet, informing then that my car air bag readiness light has been on and have taken it to the dealer ship numerous times and they informed me that it is because i put my purse on my seat. So finally theyfound it was a sensors and fixed it however one year later now at 50,000 miles the light is still onno explanation of why. Ever time i turn on the car the airbag readiness light stays on.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle began to shudder, and caused a loss of vehicle control.the vehicle veered off the road, into a ditch, and subsequently crashed into a cemetery.the frontal air bags deployed, but did not inflate.the driver and passenger both suffered minor injuries.a police report was taken, and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.while driving 30 mph, the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle.the air bags failed to deploy.the driver suffered severe headaches, neck, and back injuries.the vehicle sustained $4,100 worth of damage.a police report was filed.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were less than 63,000.updated 8/3/09 updated 08/11/09.

The car is a 2006 aveo. The car is only three years old and now has 100,000 miles and is over warranty. Over the life of the car beginning at around 20,000 milethe air bag disengaged light has continued to come on and stay on.the car has been taken to the dealer each time and they claim there either is no issue or it's just a fuse.each time the car, continues to have a trouble. The light stays on, meaning the airbag is not working.i fear in a crash that the airbag would not deploy.

I own a 2006 chevrolet aveo and it has several occurrences of the air bag not on light.i have taken it to my local chevy dealer for repairs the first 4 times under warranty and the last visit lightened my wallet by almost $500.00 and guess what it's back on again.i have people now that ride with me that refuse to ride in the passenger seat because they do not believe the bags will operate properly in a crash.like i said this vehicle was purchased new and this has happened 5 times now in less than 3 years.they have replaced sensors, connectors, wire bundles and 1 time could not get it to duplicate after they reset it.so my question is to you, who does my attorney need to contact when the lawsuit is filed after someone riding in my vehicle dies from lack of airbag deployment?will chevrolet step up and take responsibility or do they shift blame to you for lack of pursuit in this matter?let me know so the victims relatives can lighten your or chevrolets wallets for lack of action on a very vital safety item in these vehicles.

My 2006 chevy aveo frontal air bag does not work 90% of the time. It has been to the dealership at least 5 times. I have called the chevy number in the back of their book, and the manufacturer has not dealt with the issue. They have not had the problem fixed. They have made appointments for my vehicle but the air bag isstill not working. I am 5 9 and 120 lbs and my husband and i can not use my vehicle because i don't have a working air bag. In this small of a car i would die in a highway accident with out an air bag. My husband gets upset that we can not use a new car with fuel economy for trips together because i'm not protected. This car is new!! the chevy aveo is very dangerous and should not be purchased. Your family and friends will not be safe, and you will be stuck with a new and unusable car. The passenger air bag does not even activate while driving in town. This car needs to be recalled. It has taken me 3 months to find a place that would take my complaints. It is almost impossible to get any one to deal with this serious problem. What good is a car with out a font air bag. Please someone take this safety hazard serious. My air bag works 1 out of 10 days.

Dash warning -- passenger air bag off -- does not turn off when person weighing 105 pounds is in passenger seat.

Passenger air bag off -- indicator is lit. Will not engage passenger safety air bag when wife, weighing 105 pounds is in seat. Chevrolet dealer cannot fix.

"passenger side airbag off" light periodically comes one while passenger is in the seat. Since feb. Has happened 3 times. Took to dealer, who said they could not duplicate the problem, and everything was working normally.possible safety issue.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the air bag light fails to illuminate when a passenger is seated.the failure occurs intermittently.the manufacturer was unable to duplicate the failure.the current mileage is 15,500 and failure mileage was 15,400.

-the contact stated that passenger 'sside air bag sensor didn't properly work. The contact stated that anyone under 150 pounds will not activate the passenger side air bag sensor. The contact took the car to the dealer )four or five times for this failure, andthey told her that she did not have a problem. Shetook the car to city motors ,and they changed the passenger side air bag sensor, but therecurred.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the vehicle has a sensor that engages the air bags.the contacts wife is 5'8 and 130 lbs.when she sits in the front passenger seat, the air bag fails to engage.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that it is working properly.the contact is concerned that if his wife is in the passenger seat during a crash, the air bag will not protect her.however, when the contact is in the passenger seat, the air bag sensor engages.he weighs approximately 230 lbs.the vin and engine size were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 2,300.updated 08/30/07

The passenger side air bag works about 33% of the time for my wife. I have had the vehicle to the shop 2 or 3 times concerning this problem. This defect still continues to occur.

The front passenger sensor does not read properly for the majority of passengers. This misread causes the light on the dash to show 'passenger airbag off.' this is of major concern, the airbag must deploy in an accident and should show to be activated at all times when a passenger is present.

The passenger airbag sensor does not work!!! after taking it to the dealer 3 or 4 times they were finally able to "duplicate" the problem...the sensor was then replaced. Immediately after receiving the vehicle back from the dealer the sensor light started flashing while an adult was sitting in the seat..it now is still either flashing or not coming on or not turning off when someone is in the seat...i informed the dealer of this but of course again it needs to be duplicated as they put it. I am advised to drive the vehicle into the dealership when this occurs...sorry but i am too busy to just stop what i am doing and drive to the dealership...which is located in another city. This item needs to be recalled immediatelyhow many complaints are needed for this to be done?

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the contact stated that the air bag light fails intermittently when his wife is seated in the passenger seat.the vehicle was taken to the dealer three times.the air bag sensor was replaced and worked for three months.when the failure recurred, the consumer was informed he would have to live with the failure.the contact did everything gm suggested, but the failure still existed.the current mileage was 8,860 and failure mileage was 3,000.updated 03/04/08.*ljthe air bag light stayed on when the passenger seat was occupied. Updated

When a passenger 130lbs sits in the front passenger seat the passenger airbag light is still on indicating the airbag is off! i have had the whole seat repaired and this problem is still existing. This is a safety issue due to if there is a accident how willi know that the airbag system is working properly. The service department says it will make a difference if your skinny but it should not make any difference due to i am past the weight limit for the sensor.

"passenger side airbag off" light periodically comes one while passenger is in the seat. Since i bought my car on dec 2005. Has happened more than 50 times. Took to dealer, who said they could not duplicate the problem, and everything was working normally. And "you don't take care of this, be cause the airbags still working"they never replace nothing. Possible safety issue or dead.

Dt*: the contact stated the air bag readiness light for the front passenger side illuminated continually indicating that the air bag would not deploy while in an accident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where an air bag sensor was replaced. This occurred on three separate occassion in march, june and august of 2006. After each incident, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the air bag sensor was replaced. The vehicle was purchased in december of 2005. The repair invoices are available.

I have had my 2006 chevy aveo in 3 times to have the air bag warning light fixed.each time, they tell me that it is fixed and the warning light is off.it has come back on each time.the last time i had it in, they told me that it was fixed for good and would definitely not come back on.it came on again this week, and i do not like the fact that if i am in an accident, the airbags may not work.

The passenger side airbag shuts off periodically with a passenger in the front passenger seat.this happens periodically, the only way to fix it is to have the passenger lift off the seat and sit back down with some force.

The air bag sensor light stays on while someone is riding in the passenger seat.according to the dealer if you weight between 80 and 120 lb. This may occur.however, it happens when my daughter who weights 140 lbs rides in the seat as well.this is a definitely safety hazard and needs to have a recall done.i have complained to the dealer since i purchased the car in jan 2006.in july they replaced the sensor, they replaced the seat bottom (the pattern did not match my interior) and it worked correctly.after ordering the correct pattern and installing in my car the problem continues to persist.it is an inconsistent problem.i can ride in the passenger seat to the store and the light will go off, on the trip back it stays on. During one trip to the store while my daughter was in the passenger seat the light stayed on so i drove to the dealer, both the general manager and the service manager saw her in the seat with the light on.they ran diagnostics on the car and it shows no malfunctions.they stated there was nothing they could do since the diagnostics didn't show any error codes.how safe is this!!!it is imperative the general motors be forced to fix this problem.they are aware of the problem as i have written the president and yet the 2007 still has the same air bag system.i can not count the number of times this has happened.i would appreciate contract and resolution to this issue.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.when the enginewas turned on the air bag indicator lightilluminated.the vehicle was repaired on 4/16/07.the current and failure mileage were 6,358.

First my clock would go out then my miles would disappear while driving my horn went out and then my radio, when checked out it was not my fuses it was told to me it was my electrical system and my car should not be having these issues.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that burning electrical fumes were present inside the vehicle and the daytime running lamps flickered on and off. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting: headlights); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

My daytime running lights have pretty much never worked, i have always had to manually engage my lights otherwise the dtr lights would go for a few minutes then burn flicker and short out, only working when i turn the lights on the manual way. My back turn signal shorted out around early 2012. Not only did it stop working but it melted the light socket housing, making it so i had to replace the whole light socket. Most recently, either may 14th or 15th, i started up my car, but i couldn't put it into gear, it was impossible to get it into gear, so we tried to turn off the car to figure out our next move. But the key would not come out, so we had to restart the car and finally got the gear to engage, and we took it home and had to unplug the battery because we could not take out the key but did not want it to wear out the battery.

The interior instrument panel lights all went out. This is an issue i found out from other owners has happened to all of them.

Burnt plastic smell inside the vehicle. Front of dashboard and steering column producing excessive heat. Hot to touch and the ignition key is hot.

Have taken the car to chevrolet dealership multiple times and everytime the problem is "fixed" it happens again a few days or sometimes weeks later.first, the instrument panel cluster fuse kept blowing. Seemed to happen when fuel gauge read 1/2 full.eventually, after many trips to dealership to fix it, it worked for three weeks and the fuse started blowing again.then, rpm gauge started moving erratically for about a week and then stopped working altogether.fortunately, this fixed the problem with the fuse blowing, but overtime, my temperature gauge did the same thing, and now my fuel gauge is starting to go.if i drive over 55 mph, sometimes the rpm and fuel gauge will move, but not accurately.when i did think that the problem was fixed for those three weeks, i had taken the car in for another problem.speedometer/instrument panel lights not workinginterior lights not workingtail lights or brake lights not workingall of this happened suddenly when i was driving at night. I checked online and found that the wiring design inside the splicer in the hood compartment fuse box was prone to failure (a lot of people have had this problem).i mentioned this at the dealership and sure enough that is where the problem was. They also said that my other electrical problems had to do with this as well.they fixed the problem, but then three weeks later, the initial problem with the instrument panel cluster fuse was back. I cannot afford to keep taking the car in for the same repair. I have researched online and found that many people have this problem with this car.it is incredibly dangerous to have a car that isn't electrically reliable.

Driving and lost steering and brakes and ran into a truck.tried to steer and stop and could not.

My 2006 chevy aveo hatchback was sitting parked in my driveway and had not been turned on in the last 12 hours. My dogs started to bark, and that is when i noticed my car alarm was going off, very quietly. I went outside to see what was going on and that is when i noticed my car was filled with smoke and that it was coming out of my air vents as well. However the engine was not on fire, nor was it effected. I tried immediately to unlock my car, but my locks had gone out, so i had to use my key and manually unlock the doors. It was once the smoked cleared i could see my dash was completely melted in where my air vents and clock once were. It does not appear that it hurt the cd player directly below it however. My windows are ruined by the smoke as well and they are darkened where the "fire" started. Prior to this day my battery has gone dead twice, but there was not warning signs that anything was wrong. I never received a check engine light or anything of the sort. It never showed any problems operating other than the two dead batteries.

2006 chevrolet aveo, have had recall notice for several months.have heard nothing new, drl fail regularly as well as passenger side running lights and dashboard lights.has been going on for years, several mechanics have been able to make slight modifications that fix it temporarily. Aveo owners need a permanent fix immediately.

I have been reading all the complaints on the same problem with the light going out on the dashboard and the shift gear light as well at the same time all the fuses have been checked there all good so with all the complaints i have read there should be a recall on this some people dash even started a fire come on chevy people do a recall.

Update on previous claim #[xxx] left side tail light is out and left head light. This is all from the main connector in fuse box under the hood of car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I try to put a seat belt on a child in the back seat and it dose not work at all. The steering on my aveo is also not safe it feels as if my axel on my car is going to brake? also this car has caught on fire as i was on the freeway coming from work. I have replace the cadillac converter on this car as well as 2,000 other repairs into my car. It is very dangerous knowing that one day when i get in my car it may caught on fire if it get to hot. It very sad all i would like to do is go to school and work get home safe guaranteed every day.

On a winter morning i went out and started my car to go to work, i got on the road and realized that my dashboard , heating control, and shifter lights did not work.i moved the settings switch and nothing came on.i have checked the fuses.they are fine.i did some research and it seems that many aveos have had this problem.and the only fix is to rewire the system.something needs to be done.if i take it to the shop it's going to cost anywhere between 50-100 dollars or more.if its a problem to the consumers then it should be a recall and not just a manufacturing defect.if this is a wiring issue then it could possibly end up causing a fire.

Dash and shifter lights went out and came back on and eventually went out completely- would not come on upon startup. Some front and rear lights as well. Blinkers & flashers still work. Have checked all fuses and bulbs. Needs electrical repair.

About 6 weeks ago smelled something burning. Prior toburning smell, the daytime running lights all inside dash lights and clock lights and gear shift lights went out while car was in motion on a major city street. All lights stayed off for about 20 mins. Daytime running ligts never came back on. Clock lights still goes off an on. Dash lights and gear shift lights came back on once. But have been off a month now. Reported to gm. Recall on daytime running lights fixed free. But they said no recall on wiring of lights. I am not the only owner that has thos problem there are many who have written complaiys on gm. Recall website. I have pictures of burnt fuse connector relay that controls all lights. 10 mins of mechanic checking the part was so hot he couldn't touch it. On 8/09/2016 terry cullen fixed recall. I payed them $100.00 to check problem about lights they said they needed $400 more dollars for 4 hours of more looking. My family mechanic found problem with in 10 mins......dealer.. All about money! i think they should have saw the problem or even knew it.

Arrived at a hotel five hours away from home, parked my car and could not get my key out of the ignition. Fortunately i had my spare key with me so i was able to lock the door.took it to a dealership and it cost about $500 to fix. They said the problem was the ignition lock solenoid.i read a lot of similar cases with this model online and it is unfair that we all have to pay to fix this issue.recall!

It doesn't run after the side driver front light got messed up, it over heats.

Dash lights did not turn on when the headlights were turned on. Also, running lights did not turn on after my headlights were turned on (front and rear right). Left rear turn signal does not work. I was told by a mechanic this was due to the splice pack melting. He also informed me this was a known issue with chevrolet aveo's. This should be a manufacturers issue and not the owners if it is a known hazardous issue.

S101 splicer pack overheats and burnt wiring under the hood causing tail light to not work.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo.the contact stated that the key was stuck in the ignition and the gear was unable to be shifted out of park.the key will not move from the locking position.in order to turn off the vehicle, the contact must disconnect the battery.the battery must then be reconnected to restart the vehicle.the dealer stated that the repair would cost $300.the failure mileage was 38,857.

2006 & 2007 chevy aveo svm models.both alternators failed within 1 month of each other.dealer claims to have replaced 'many' alternators for aveo model in just the last week.dealer claims that aveo has this problem with alternators, but they are not covered under warranty.alternator causes massive electrical problems throughout car.one car lost battery, dome light, radio, wipers, throttle sensor due to malfunctioning alternator.alternator on aveo should be a recall item as it is a prevalent issue for the model.it should not be a 'dealer makes money' since car is 3 months out of warranty.

My key was stuck in the ignition between the "accessory" setting and having the car running.i googled the problem; recommended fix was to remove fuse for radio, so i did.i was able to remove keys from ignition but when i was ready to leave again i could not shift out of 'park.'i put the radio fuse back in, and my gearshift & transmission work perfectly. Every time i get out of my car i have to pull the radio fuse out, remove my keys, then install the radio fuse again so that i can get out of 'park' when i need to drive later.

I arrived home from work on 6/8/2014 and when i removed the key from the ignition, the key was very hot it nearly burned my hand.i literally said "ow", i informed my father who was nearby and he asked me to check the around the key ignition panel which i did and it was also very hot.i called mcgee chevrolet (877) 823-5348 in raynham, ma this morning on 6/9/2014 and asked them about this, he ran the vin number and said there isn't a recall on this chevy aveo model, but i informed him that this sounds like it could be a fire hazard and this could be a recall issue.he said that this could be the first issue for this vehicle type and could be a recall in the future.we set up an appointment to go to their service station at 11 am today 6/9/2014.he informed us that we would have to pay for this repairs as it is out of warranty, but we should keep the receipt in case there is a recall in the future.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that after parking, the vehicle rolled away in reverse. The contact engaged the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the shifter cable tab fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 78,000. ..updated 12-30-13 updated 1/17/2014

At a stop the car was put in park, ignition switch turned off and the key would not come out. Started the car again and could not move the shifter out of park. Vehicle was taken to the dealership. Ignition lock module was not sending signal. It was not grounding out as designed. Module was replaced. There was still no change in resolving the problem. Tested shifter and found internal failure of module. The entire shifter module and assembly was replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving approximately 38 mph, the contact smelled a burning odor and the instrument panel flickered. The contact noticed smoke under the hood and discovered that all the components under the hood had caught fire and were burned. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting, electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

I drove from work to lunch approx 2 miles. Parked the car, turned it off, got out to go inside to get lunch, when i came back and opened the car door there was smoke coming from the dashboard. I waited a minute to see if it would stop. It did not so called 911 to have the fire department come out. While waiting for the fire department, i saw flames and the whole dashboard area of the car caught on car.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that his headlights burned out every two months. The contact stated that the failure was electrical. The dealer and manufacturer have not been notified. The vin number was unknown. The failure mileage was 58,000.

I have a 2006 aveo. In the last 12 months, the car has been in the shop for loss of power twice, throttle sensor replaced. Battery replaced, headlights blow out within months of being replaced. Ignition gets extremely hot. Radio blew out, a/c no longer works, passenger side airbag light has now burned out, instrument panel/shifter lights going out. And the car is now back in the shop with a bad alternator. The cost of repairing this vehicle in the last 12 months is ridiculous...not to mention the towing, the strandedness and stress.i also have a 2000 toyota corolla that has never been in the shop since i purchased it other than routine repairs.....the aveo is not worth the money, even when purchased used.

The front signal light on the driver's side stopped working, so i purchased a bulb and when my son went to replace it, it was working.about two weeks later, i went to start the car and the battery was dead.the battery was charged and it worked the next day.the windshield wiper fluid motor did not work for about two years, but recently, it started working again. This sounds like an electrical problem.i have received a recall notice for the drl, but they do not have the part.

I have contacted you before.first, some months after i purchased car when i turned off car ignition would not turn completely off.went on for two + years used wd forty finally got it to work most of the time.had to go back to car hours after driving until it would release key and turn all the way off.the dash light stayed on and drained the battery.i noticed, (not all the time) that the gas pedal under my foot felt really hot; thought it was because it was a warm day etc, but it happened in cool weather also.replaced head gasket seal twice still have oil leak. About three years ago + or -, had to have ball something in front wheel replaced.it broke again had it done again.when i accelerate left front wheel rattles. I drive slow in it and only go to school to get grand kids and to store primarily.went to a big city and car( dragged, would not accelerate )on up ramps, went to orlando once to visit family, same thing.two weeks after purchase car acted dead, would not start, took off battery cables, replaced them and car started.i called the ph # in owners manual at onset of problems, they said i would have to pay for diagnostics.i had repairs done by mechanics not assc'd w/ dealership, because of cost.i spent a lot on repairs from early on after purchase.i bought a car for reliability, to transport my gkids and get to go visit my family members i fl and tenn, but i only went to visit orlando once because i was afraid of driving in the mountains.updated 4/1/15

Day time running lights work sometimes fora short time afraid of a fire. Called gm they said problem is not in their computer.

Driving vehicle through residential area, smoke and subsequent flames seen coming from center dash of 2006 aveo.vehicle stopped in street and fire extinguisher used to control fire and battery disconnected. Fire department responded and inspected vehicle.vehicle towed to mechanic shop and inspection revealed drl module, airbag control module, and evaporator core housing blackened and melted along with multiple areas of the wiring harness melted.a report was filed with general motors customer service and a claim submitted to their central claims division for consideration.vehicle has not been repaired and is currently in storage awaiting decision from general motors.

In fear of a fire in my aveo!

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the instrument panel failed to function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but they could not determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.

Instrument panel cluster fuse kept blowing, only when fuel gauge was below half of a tank.dealer was unable to find problem.soon after instrument panel lights, gear shift lights, and passenger side tail light went out.replaced tail light bulbs, and still did not work.read forums and found the problem was splicer in the hood compartment fuse box.seems to be a common problem with this car, there needs to be a recall due to extreme safety issues.cannot see or be seen at night, cannot see gauges when driving at night.

My electrical panel was defective, sent in 4 times and they claimed to replace the electrical panel. It was rigged by crossing wires and lights in dash dont work and radio tapped into wipers. Then calipers, sway arms, shocks, catalytic converter was defectiveand also never replaced right. Paid someone to put emissions sticker to pass.

I was driving down the hwy about 60 mph and tried to push the gas but all it did was sputter and slowdown. Had to pull over and see what was wrong. Cod not find anything so i started it up again and the same thing. It just sputters. So i drove to a service station (very slowly) that i just had my oil change the previous day thinking they may have done something. After they checked it, they said it was nothing related to them but that they hooked it up to a machine and it was reading 11 different types of censors causing it to misfire. They had just had in a 2007 chevy cobalt doing the same thing that there was a recall on. Wondering if the recall for the 2006 aveo for the drl would cause these problems?! they service tech mentioned more than likely it is not 11 censors but just 1or 2 affecting the others read on the machine.

Instrument cluster lights (speedometer, gas gauge, etc.) lights on shifter, and right rear taillights all went out at the same time. Fuses were all still good, light bulbs still good. Eventually tracked it down to a burnt out wiring splice, which had to be replaced. The loss of interior lights and brake lights is a serious hazard - especially when the fix requires hunting down bad factory wiring.

Dash lights and clock light flickered for months then dash lights finally went dead. Dash lights no longer work and also has affected rear passenger side tail lamp. The plastic splice connector box in the under hood fuse box is burnt to a crisp. Upon searching online it appears as though several people have had this same problem.

My car just not running right i just bought it and seen a recall

My aveo has had a burning electrical smell in the cab for approximately 2 years.a recall was issued 8 months ago and nothing has been done.gm states that the remedy not yet available.since the recall the daytime running lights have stopped working all together and the electrical smell has gotten worse.this car has been plagued by electrical issues and i do believe they are all related.i really don't feel safe driving this car everywhere with my family in it due to the risk of it catching fire.gm refuses to give me any answers on this except that the remedy is in development.i think 8 months of waiting is long enough.the car also has issues with the airbag, radio, horn, security system, and headlights.all of which run through the same wiring harness.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated she removed the keys from the ignition however, the engine continued to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, who stated that the shorted shifter switch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. My daughter was driving to the store when she smelled smoke. She had some things on the passenger side floor and noticed smoke coming out. She pulled into a parking lot and got out of the car with flames coming up from around the front console of the dash board. The police arrived and were able to put out the fire just before the firemen arrived. She only lost her cell phone which was laying between the seats and a few things were ruined from the fire retardant.

2006 chevrolet aveo instrument lights failed, rs tail light failed, rf parking lamp failed, shifter lights failed, and headlamp on warning indicator failed.due to a wire short that appears to be common in this year/model.created dangerous condition for my wife.wires melted together, could have been fire hazard.

2006 chevrolet aveo.consumer writes in regards to headlamp switch recall notice.the recall notice the consumer received, stated the parts were not available. Also, the consumer stated the ignition switch felt warm and the engine light illuminated.

This is a condition that is a safty haszard. I have recently purchased a chevrolet aveo. I noticed the speed did not seem right. I had this checked by the daeler i purchased the car from. It was of 7-9%. The speed reads higher than you are going. This is not a constant. It may be right one time and read wrong the next. This leads to estimating you speed as to not become a hazard for other motorists. Chevrolet informed me they know this and it is normal! they have no fix for this and basicly told me i will have to live with it! this is a car i purchased new! how can they sell a car with this fault? the number of failures is a guess- i have no way of knowing how many times it has happened.

Check engine light constantly coming on. June, 2011 light kept coming on even after replacement for o2 sensors. July, 2011 thermostat housing goes out without check engine light coming on. Housing replaced and light keeps coming back on again. Alternator went out right after warranty expired. Windshield cracked when temperature dropped quickly outside. Other parts replaced as well.

Dt*:the contact stated the location of the horn is hard to find and excessive pressure is required to activate the horn.the owner's manual states the horn needs to be tapped to activate.the manufacturer has been alerted.

Currently own a 2006 chevy aveo hatchback, with just over 20,000 miles. Purchased new. Have been noticing within the last month that occasionally when attempting to start vehicle, i get a buzzing noise, and engine will not start. Must turn key again to get vehicle started. Seems to be a defective starter or ignition switch. Will be getting this checked asap. ***have also noticed this problem once in my mom's aveo sedan, also purchased new in 2006, currently with less than 10,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that when the key was inserted into the ignition switch, the key was extremely hot and was not able to be removed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the head lamps failed. The contact inspected the head lamp bulbs and found that the ground wires were burned due to overheating. The dealer advised that nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting) would only repair the drl module and would not replace any additional failure caused by the recall. The contact also wanted to state that the engine valve cover gasket was defective causing the engine fluid to leak. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving approximately 45 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated intermittently. The contact smelled a burning odor and noticed smoke underneath the hood. The contact discovered that the fuse box was burning. The dealer stated that a cluster of wires had caught fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

The car key will not turn on. I have to reenter the key and turn the steering wheel back and forth to get the key to turn on. Then once i get the car running it falls dead while i'm driving it. I have had my car towed twice because i could not get the key to turn on, this a daily problem and a very dangerous one. If the car continues to turn off in the middle of traffic some one could hurt very bad or killed.,

As a result, the transmission hesitated when the contact attempted to switch gears and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to community chevrolet (200 w olive ave, burbank, ca 91502, (866) 610-2450) where it was diagnosed that the clock sensor needed to be replaced.

My chevrolet aveo 2006 automobile has several issues that need to be addressed immediately.my car has issues with shifting and it suddenly speeds up for unknown reasons.my check engine light comes on all of the time. I tighten the gas cap as the manual states and it remains on. Also, there could be possible problems with the gas line as the car is making a loud sounds when i accelerate and smells like gas.i received a safety recall notice last year and was told that i would be contacted by mail when parts were ready. After 6 months, i contactedchevrolet who replied that the parts were still not ready after no response from chevrolet. I had to do the leg work myself.their absolute disregard for immediate action is utterly reprehensible.people are being killed or injured because of their lack of or inability to address the situation.

The fan shroud rubbed against the radiator and caused a radiator leak.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the rpms began to increase rapidly. The contact was able to continue driving at a reduced speed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 44,700.

Dt*:the contact stated the check engine light has been illuminating since purchase.the vehicle has been to the dealership twice for this problem, but the computer displays no codes.the invoice stated the manufacturer is aware of the problem and is currently investigating a possible repair.the recommended repair will be sent to the dealerships when found.

After pulling into a parking space, my 06 chevy aveo's engine shut off and i started rolling backwards out of my parking space.i had to press hard on my brakes to stop me from rolling.i had to remove my key and start my engine again.i was still in drive when my engine died and everything in my car was still on ie radio and lights.there is no reason that my automatic car should be rolling backwards while still in drive.took it to the dealership and they said my comp was running a throttle body repair.since that would be the third throttle body in nine month, the dealer decided to contact gm and look into it.throttle body checked out fine, and gm told dealership to run more diagnostics and put miles on my car.after a whole week, the best the dealership could tell me was that they had no idea what was wrong with my car and gm didn't know either.they said if it was replicated again, to have it towed and not to turn the car back on.an 06 with only 50,000 miles on it should not have these kinds of problems.in only nine months of owning my car i have had two throttle bodies, a new head, a new timing belt, and a new brake light switch.i will never buy this car again.now i have to wait until this car dies again and causes me to get into an accident before i can do anything about it.i am extremely displeased with gm.

The thermostat casing and thermostat blew when i was on the freeway.when i took it to the repair person, he said the parts are really cheap.it's a design flaw and chevy should do a recall.

The engine would loose power and surge also check engine light came on.the throttle body was replaced. It happened a second timeand again the throttle body was replaced this was onaugust 10, 2010. Now a third time the throttle body is being replaced september 19, 2014.

There was no specific event leading up to the failure.the failure occurred in my 2006 chevy aveo.the thermostat housing (made of plastic) completely broke apart and all the antifreeze flowed out.there was no warning.i have ordered a new housing and thermostat, which chevy has re-designed to aluminum....no longer plastic, and my husband will be replacing.obviously, chevy knew there was an issue or they would have stuck with the plastic version.i believe this item should be recalled.thank you

While my 2006 aveo was facing out from a driveway to enter a four lane road, with my foot on the brake, the engine suddenly began to race wildly, the car bucked, i put more pressure on the brake. I shut the engine down and restarted it; the engine continued to race. I repeated this and waited longer before restarting; this time the engine was atanormal idle.considering everything going on; i thought you should be made aware.

My engine raced as i approached a red traffic light. I was able to stop without much difficulty. I turned off the engine and restarted the car with no further difficulty. This problem has not occurred since. I am reporting this minor incident at this time because i am told the vehicle has an engine manufactured in japan.

2306 chevrolet aveo lt thermostat housing consists of two plastic parts glued together with thermostat between the two halves. The glued joint came apart and the thermostat fell out on the road. The coolant pumped out and the engine severely overheated. Towing charges from a remote highway location were $190. Repair at lamb chevrolet in prescott, az, totaled $195. This was found to be a common aveo problem and should have been a factory recall item!

Thermostat housing broke at the seal.

S101 splicer pack overheats and burnt wiring under the hood causing tail light to not work.

I purchased my '06 chevy aveo new from friendly chevrolet in fridley mn and after approximately two years i realized that i was needing to change headlights far too frequently for any car.i asked the dealership about it at the time and was told they knew nothing about any problems.several other mechanics also looked at it and i was told there is a short somewhere but could not specify where without digging into it.every other month (approximately) for over three years, one headlamp or the other would go out.i received the lecture about not touching the bulb when installing, though i knew this already, and it was not the problem.both headlamp plugs are now charred and approximately one month after i got the original recall letter, both headlamps went dim, so dim that the parking lights shed more light, making the vehicle unsafe for driving other than daytime.i was initially told that i need to wait until i can make an appointment to repair it, so waited another month or two and made an appointment, only to be told when i arrived, that there was not a fix for the problem yet.i have had ongoing problems with the friendly chev staff, not being able to contact the service manager [xxx] , and the one occasion i was able to leave message for him, he still has not called back.i have now left message for the general manager, whose name was inaudible on his outgoing message.i need to know what can be done; will gm fix it? do i drive it (daytime only) until it burns? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The interior instrument panel lights all went out. This is an issue i found out from other owners has happened to all of them.

Letter stated that parts were not currently available and another letter would be sent out when they did become available. Have not heard anything about parts becoming available or any other news at all. So far i have had no issues but am concerned that nothing is being done to fix this problem.

This car has a defective throttle body and iac(idle control assembly) .i have to try to crank it 7-8 time before it will stay running.i am physically disabled and on a fixed income ,they told me that it will cost $1000 to $1500 to fix this car which there is no way i can pay this large amount. I believe that chevorlet should do the right thing and put there defect on the recall list.

My wife has a 2006 chevy aveo that the shifter went bad, for an automatic transmission.it is going to cost $400.00 to repair.the car has 76,000 miles on it.shifters should never go bad.

Parked the car in a parking spot at a store, went inside for a little while, came back out to have the shifter not shift from park after brake pedal was depressed. I've already tried replacing the brake switch near the brake pedal and replaced the brake transaxle solenoid. Neither option has worked. Took to the dealership to have them look at it. $80 later, they want over 400 to fix the shifter by replacing the entire shift assembly. From what i have researched online, this is not the issue. This should be automatically taken care of by the dealership at no cost to us. It still is not fixed because we cannot afford to spend another 400 dollars to fix something that failed right after the 36,000 mark.

I have a 2006 aveo. Every since we bought it when you apply the brake it speeds up. It does not do this all the time. This last time i almost t-boned a truck. I stopped it by turning off the key and just avoided a wreck. Have you had any other complaints about this? i contacted the dealer when this first happened and they said that nothing was wrong with the car. After what has happened with toyota i'm concerned.

While driving at about 60 mph on the freeway a car sped up on the left side of me while i was merging into the left lane, i swerved to the right but still had control of the car until all of a sudden the brake locked and the car shut off and started to spin out of control and almost flipped over. I did not stomp on the brake or turn the wheel very hard at all, the car seems very unbalanced when driving defensively which i believe could cause a car flip. Thank god the oncoming traffic stopped.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo. The contact statedthat the check engine warning light would illuminate and the vehicle would began to abnormally jerk forward. The vehicle would stall momentarily before independently restarting. In addition, there was an unusual increase in engine rpms. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic where the contact was advised that the throttle body would need to be replaced. The vehicle will be repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 54,000.

My wife was driving down the road and the rack and pinion broke and she lost steering. Because of that she hit a truck witch then damaged her car with $4100 in damage. I think gm should have put a stronger rack and pinion in the car. It didn't brake at the joints it broke at the gear that goes to both tie rods.

Power steering fluid is leaking out, release valve gets stuck.

Driving and lost steering and brakes and ran into a truck.tried to steer and stop and could not.

Burnt plastic smell inside the vehicle. Front of dashboard and steering column producing excessive heat. Hot to touch and the ignition key is hot.

Tires never last very long, may get 10,000 miles out of a set since we bought the car.car has been making alot of noise going over any little bump and we changed the shocks and one was bad, started around 90,000.it is still making some noise and the dealer said that the rear axle bushing is bad and would have to get a new rear axle $$$-$$$$.also the paint along the bottom of both doors on the outside on both sides had been starting to come off.

Went to lock driver side door and inside lock would not push down and found outside lock had fallen inside the door panel.online research indicates this is a very common problem on aveos due to defective plastic parts and dealerships seem to be charging very high amount to repair. Seems there should be a recall provided by gmc to fix this problem as prevents being able to secure the vehicle and belongings and occupants of the vehicle.

Hit from behind with a car pushed my car into a vehicle in front of me. Drivers front air bag deployed. It completely blew up; burning my hand and arm. There was mostly second degree burns. There was some parts on the arm later showing third degree burns. The car i was driving was determined to be totaled.

The failure caused the front tires to wear prematurely. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic several times for the failure, but the mechanic was unable to correct the failure. 2006 chevy aveo - issue rear axle beam bushings failed at 65,000 miles. The failure allows the rear axle to have up to an inch of travel left to right. As you go down the road you can feel the back of the car shifting as you hit bumps in the road or simply by taking an exit ramp.i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the axel at half price. Now 2 years later i am having the same issue and have been told i have to replace the axle for the second time. I am working with gm customer service.. I read on line this is a problem for most aveo owners. These are not old cars and this safety issue failure should be addressed by gm.

Front tires had uneven front tire wear.outside edge of front tires wore more quickly then inside edge.the problem started when car was new and alignments were performed.the alignments did not solve the issue.the original tires last less than 30,000 miles due to the problem.the tires would've last less time if not for frequent tire rotates.the problem was not solved until the dealer replaced the front strut mounts in about 2010.the problem seems to be reappearing.

I have a2006 chevrolet aveo.i noticed that the left side of the vehicle was sagging.i took the vehicle to the local dealer since the vehicle has just under 26,000 miles on it and it is still under warranty.the dealer said that the springs on the left side had to be changed.within a week the springs were replaced.when i took the vehicle home , one mile from the dealer,i noticed the next day that the vehicle was still sagging.i contacted the dealer and he said to bring the vehicle back in.this was done.after a day, i contacted the dealer and was told that the vehicle was 1/4 inch lower on the left side then the right.i was also told that the dealer checked another 06 vehicle and an 08 vehicle that they had on the property and found that the were also sagging.then then contacted gm and were told that the vehicle was with in specks.i was given the number for gm and i made a call to them.after an hour on the phone and two different people, i was told that the vehicle was within specks and there was nothing they could do for me. I was also told that if a recall were to come up re: my complaint, they would contact me .i was also give a complaint #[xxx]. If you were to look at my vehicle from the rear you would also see that the vehicle is sagging to the extent that the naked eye can see it. I may not an engineer but the naked i can see the sag.i do know that when a vehicle sages to one side or the other, you change the center of gravity.at this point i feel the vehicle is a hazard on the road and under certain conditions could cause an accident. I also can not believe that i am the only owner of this type of vehicle who has made a complaint to gm.if you can be of help to me in this matter, please feel free to contact me.i am also looking in to the lemon law to see if i have a case.by the way i like the car, i just want it fixed and hope this problem dose not cause a problem to any other owner's.thank you information redacted pursuant to the fre

We have a 2006 chevy aveo.it has a problem in the rear end, we were told it was a failure of the rear axle bearings and it allows the rear axle to move about one inch from left back to right, around corners and across bumps.we were told by our mechanic it would be over 800 dollars to fix, which we do not have.in addition, our mechanic stated this is a problem that should have initiated a massive recall.i cannot afford another car right now and am afraid that it will cause me to wreck.

2006 chevy aveo - issue rear axle beam bushings failed at 45,000 miles. The failure allows the rear axle to have up to an inch of travel left to right. As you go down the road you can feel the back of the car shifting as you hit bumps in the road or simply by taking an exit ramp. As the axle was shifted to on side when you hit a hard bump it would br metal to metal and would cause sparks under the car. By 49,000 miles it became undriveable as the smallest bump or turn would shift the axle. Gm would not provide any assistance with this problem. I explained this is a safety issue and it fell on deaf ears. I have replaced the axle beam at a cost of $461.00 for the beam it self form gm as the gm oem part is the only part available, i put it myself - 6 hours of labor. Will this fail again in another 40k miles. I read on line this is a problem for most aveo owners. These are not old cars and this safety issue failure should be addressed by gm.
