Well known issue that the dash cracks around the airbags, if the airbags do deploy, this can send deadly sharp plastic pieces flying because the dash plastic is so brittle. Huge safety issue. Very common on these year model tahoes, suburbans and avalanches but gm will not correct.

Dash board has cracked around the passengers air bag and general motors has failed to acknowledge this as a safety concern and issue a recall. I'm writing this on behalf of all 2007-20013 gm truck owners who have experienced this same problem and gm has failed to offer any assistant in making repairs oncewarranty has expired. I say this because it's happen on my own account and thousands other in reading the forums on the web. My main concern is that the air bag is not properly seated in the dash once the cracks occur around it and could have a major effect to it properly deploying. Furthermore if it did happen to deploy it would have the potential of the weakened dash to explode and send sharp particles of plastic throughout the cabin possibly causing further injuries. I would appreciate it if you could look into this as a serious concern on behalf of all gm truck owners.
Takata recal:the recall has been going on for over a year now. Every time i call a gm service center they tell me they don't have parts to fix it yet. They don't know when they will have parts. They told me no ones vehicle has been fixed yet. This is a shame. I don't even want my kids in the truck. Why won't they step up and fix these airbags. I will never buy another chevrolet. Are they waiting for people to get injured, die, or go away?

Takata recall - contacted chevrolet about the air bag recall, they are unhelpful in wanting to replace the air bag even though the dashboard is starting to crack. I feel that the cracking of the dashboard could cause an accidental deployment of the air bag. Chevrolet is not concerned with my claim. Chevrolet case # 8-3853651363

Takata recall - called my local chevy dealership and was again told gm has not provided a fix/replacement for the defective airbag inflators.the dealership inform me i had to call gm customer satisfaction directly.i called gm customer satisfaction and was told that gm is internally conducting tests on the takata airbags and currently feel there is no "unreasonable" risk but they are still investigating and reviewing the situation.if the manufacturer (takata) has determined there is a defect and risk based on their airbag inflator design i want the inflator replaced and not run the risk that it falsely goes off causing physical harm or death to a passenger.the risk in gm's opinion might be low meaning their cost analysis between settling claims versus replacing the inflators in potentially millions of vehicles is driving their inaction.gm said if there is an update i can check their recall website and they would be sending out letters - this is the same thing they told me about a year ago and i've received no update from gm.
I am the owner of a 2007 avalanche where the safety of the vehicle is in question. My wife was sitting stationary at a red light and for some reason both seat belts violently retracted to the point of injuring her and causing damage to passenger seat trim.also the emergency flashers would not shut off and on-star was called twice.when the vehicle was being driven to the dealer for service check today, both side airbags deployed unexpectedly?my wife had to immediately stop the vehicle within a mile of our home, turn around, and leave it parked. I now have a vehicle that has seat belts that will not retract, side air bags deployed, and service air bag light continually on unable to be driven. Fortunately there were not more serious repercussions due to this vehicles failures. We expect your quick address of this and at no cost.to us.just thankful lives were not lost due to whatever caused this problem.

Takata inflators we were parked at a store when we were leaving we heard a big loud pop like an explosion or like someone hit us on the passenger side smoke came out of the hood on the passenger side , seat belts locked up very tight emergency lights went on and dash board announced 'service airbag' drove it home very carefully. The next day i had a friend come connect a diagnostic computer to see what's the problem it said airbag deployed that same day i called :[email protected] they called me back early the next morning they were able to tow it to chevrolette turlock auto mall to inspect it took them a week to even take a look at it finally my husband went in and now they are trying to say it's smthing completely different that the air bag is intact it even cracked the dash board on the side u can see the air bag compartment is lifted but it has to do with some seat belt sensor we are meeting tomorrow to see what they came up with but didn't sound good they were saying we had other problems like water leakage which we never had we have had the truck since 2011 never had a major problem with it we took good care of it and we want it fixed very disappointed in chevrolet they were willing to pay for car rental but wanted me to pay for insurance out if my pocket i've been borrowing my sisters car and i dnt think that was fair either

My chevy avalanche has a known issue of the dash cracking which gm denies. Like many other tahoe, silverado, and avalanche owners i have a cracked dash right in the corner of the passenger side air bag and another over the drivers steering column. The dash flaps freely and i'm worried if the air bag goes off that sharp shrapnel will fly in the face of the driver and passenger. There are tons of owners all over with identical issues.

As i was driving my avalanche the stability track and traction control turned on my truck reducedpower to half and it pulled right. I drove into lots of dirt and my brakes were affected too. I have been having issues with my 2007 avalance stabilitrak traction control turning off intermitingly. I have had my truck to the dealer 3 times on this issue and i am still with the same problem. This started over a year ago and when bringing it in for service there were no codes found for this problem. Today after picking up my truck once again and paying the dealer to replace the remote control door lock receiver being one of the codes showing this did not solve the problem and the part removed was still good. It seems to me that the service dept at the chevy dealer has no clue on how to solve this problem. Everytime i start my truck even sitting at idle the bell starts chiming and the triangle signand the warning reads service stabilitrak then service traction control (off)activates within a few miniuts. This keeps going on and off as i am driving and when its in the off position the trans shifts gears very hard. Looking trough this forum i can see that this had been a major problem in the past with 2003 and up and there are many people talking aboutthis issue with their trucksbut i have not come across anyone who can give the answer on how to resolve this problem. Dose anyone else have this problem or have heard of this being a problem with an answer.

I have cracks in my dash right around the airbag cover. 2 of them around an inch long and expanding as time goes on. I worry about if a airbag deploys that it may cause plastic to break off and fly into someones face, not allow a bag to deploy correctly or cut an airbag as it deploys. From things i've found using google this is a very common issue that gm will not admit to or fix. They even went as far as to change the dash part(reinforced plastic in the problem areas) and the part number. It's my understanding that this part still does this. But seems to take longer to appear.
Cracked dashboard around airbag
Takata recallair bag wasn't recalled per ray dennison chevrolet - service air bag light is on
My dashboard cracked at the narrowest part, which is also at the corner of the airbag station (passenger side).i can have a cover made for it.(i'm not sure i could afford to have it replaced)but, my main concern is, could that interfere with the deployment of the passenger side airbag?
I have a truck with a air bag recall but, on top of that i have another crack in the same place on the dashboard that was replaced once already while under warranty. I fear air bag will cause dash to come out a strike passenger while riding.
The dash has cracked in multiple places including at the airbag. This is a known problem by gm and all tahoes, avalanches, suburbans, and sierra pick up trucks have the same problem. The service manager at my dealership admitted gm had a problem with the vendor supplying this dash. I consider it a safety issue because it is at the air bag, and also over the instrument panel and electronics.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact was driving 35 mph when the airbags deployed independently. The manufacturer was contacted but stated they could offer no assistance until they received the results of the inspection from the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. We received a recall notice for this vehicle for a dangerous and potentially lethal concern with the passenger air bag. The notice is dated may 27, 2016, more than 3 years ago!
The dash is cracked around the airbag. It seems if this vehicle is involved in a crash, this brittle dash could end up being sharp shrapnel that will cause a lot more bodily harm than good from the airbag.
My dash cracked and continues to crack around air bags
With 64,000 miles the dash is cracking in multiple places. If reflects the broken area onto the windshield so it impedes vision and could affect the airbag as it is broken around the area. After researching online most owners have this dash cracking issue around the airbag and upper dash. If the airbag was to deploy it would most likely eject hard plastic parts at you with the airbag.

Driving on a normal paved road i heard two fairly loud "pop" sounds. Stopped and pulled over to see if i could find source of the sounds.nothing had fallen, no windows broken, but noticed 2 cracks on upper dashboard where the passenger airbag resides. Pressed on that area and was able to see the dash had completely cracked apart and was "flopping".proceeded to drive and in next mile another "pop" sound occurred, this time it was an even larger crack on the left side of the dash near the instrument panel, and the entire top portion of the dash drivers side to passenger side was now bouncing up and down by about 1-2inches.i fear if the drivers a-pillar side airbag or the passenger main airbag are deployed, that fragments and large pieces of the hard dash plastic can be thrown at high-speed to people in the cabin...this is not acceptable as a safety concern.i attempted a resolution thru gm, who wanted almost $1000 to do the repair, even though the acknowledge its a common problem, they do not seem willing to come to a common resolution.more info can be found at the following links:http://tahoe-cracked-dash.webs.com/http://chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,121036.0.htmhttp://chevroletforum.com/forum/tahoe-suburban-25/2007-tahoe-ltz-dash-has-cracked-26133/http://gmauthority.com/blog/2012/08/gmt-900-gmc-chevy-vehicles-subject-to-frequently-cracking-dashboards/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ikscklf7g8.

While driving my airbag alert came up
Dash has cracked and broken at left top corner of passenger side airbag and over instrument panel on drivers side. Entire dash is very brittle. This could lead to serious injury or death in the event of airbag deployment. I have seen hundreds if not thousands of these complaints for all chevy and gm trucks and suv's in this year vehicle and the years following it. Will it take a piece of dash flying through someone's jugular vein to get gm to finally care about customer safety?
Dashboard is cracked at airbag and console posing a safety hazard in a crash with flying debri.

The dashboard is severely cracked above the steering column and passenger airbag panel.i am concerned for safety and see in online forums that this is a common problem
A big crack appeared on my 2007 chevy avalanche dashboard just above the cluster (passengers side). A second crash appeared just next to the passenger air bag cover, which is a potential safety issue.. I wouldn't like to see plastic parts on my passengers eyes if an accident occurs.

Crack in dash around airbag
Noticed cracks in dashboard around 25,000 miles called gm and complained... Was told to take truck to local dealer and after complaining dash was replaced... Now i notice the replace dash has since broken again! this time it did not crack instead pieces that connect the dash are broken. Now there is a big gap in the dash were it is suppose to connect.
Dash board around the instrument panel to the passenger side airbag is cracked. I don't know what caused it to start but it started as a small crack then it began to spread across the dash.

2007 chevy avalanche ltz started cracking less than two years after i bought it new.it now has 55,000 miles on it and i have taken very good care of it.the crack and hole next to the passenger airbag looks like it could project sharp plastic parts if airbag is deployed, causing injury or puncturing the airbag rendering it useless.also on the drivers side, the cracks are huge over the instrument cluster and i'm afraid shrapnel could come loose and cause injury, the cracks started when the truck was stationary but gets worse when driving.the rattle is terribly annoying.i live in a suburb with good roads and only travel daily about 5 miles but take long trips on freeways once a year.i've never driven it on unimproved or dirt roads.

The service air bag light came on, the vehicle was just driven a short distance 10 miles, then it sat. Still on onstar diagnostics couldn't communicate with the system. So called the dealer took it in, they said it was the sdm module, so they ordered a new one. A week later the new one came in, they can't communicate with that one. They said we could take the truck for the weekend, and they have the gm engineers looking into it. The car is in great shape, drove it 2 years without a single incident. They did just change the 4x4 actuator a few miles back. They want $667, but maybe more since it's been there for 2 whole days, with no improvement. Oh the extended warranty they sold me when i bought the truck for computer, electrical,etc..($2500 from united car care)doesn't cover it because it's air bag related something about liability.

Takata recall - i contacted chevy's hotline today (800-222-1020) and they told me that my vehicle is no longer apart of the recall. I'm concerned that they are telling me this to get out of replacing my airbag. I need chevrolet to fulfill their commitment to me as their customer and put my safety and the safety of my family first. Thank you
Dash is cracked around air bags. Sharp edges very dangerous.
The passenger side airbag is defective and needs replaced chevrolet said there was no fix for the airbag problem what should i do with the vehicle is it safe to drive where can i get a new airbag for the vehicle????
My dash is cracked right at the top left of my passenger airbag.my dash is also cracked on the left side of the dash near steering column.the are hundreds of online forms with the same issues with the same vehicle all you have to do is type in avalanche dash board cracks in a search engine.my big issue is i can not get any chevy dealer to tell me the crack will not affect the deployment of the airbag.this a big safety concern if i get in a accident.
Around the may 2012 timeframe i had to take my 2007 chevrolet avalanche in to a local dealership for service to the cracked dashboard near the passenger side air bag. The dealership agreed that this was a defective issue through out a number of other gm models.the dealership agreed to replace the dashboard at no charge.this week on 9 december 2013 i noticed another crack in the new dashboard. Just slightly over a year this has happened again but this time in a new location.this crack is on the drivers side near the front of the windshield near the vin number plate to the base of the instrument cluster.this crack in the past two days is opening more and more everyday.on 10 december the crack has now formed a "v" shape and has split to towards the drivers door.i took the vehicle in today and the dealership, the same dealership that replaced the dashboard the first time, said no and that they could no longer help me and recommended to me that i just get a "cover" to not see it and bother me.i paid nearly $40,000 for the truck and keep very good care of it.i feel that these cracks are a safety concern that should be addressed and fixed.the dealerships around the country have acknowledged that this is an issue and they will no longer help. Other owners like me are having this issue and we need help to get our vehicles fixed. Please help all of us in getting this issue fixed as soon as possible.

Takata recalli have been patience waiting to have my airbags recalled. Every time i contact the car dealership that i purchased my truck, they keep telling me that my truck can't be serviced to replace my defected takata air bags. I was in an accident in feb 6th 2017. It wasn't my fault and the air bags didn't explode.
The recall came out in may of 2016 and still does not have a remedy.
There is a crack in dash at site of passenger airbag and a crack on dash above instrument cluster panel. Never had an accident or damage to vehicle. We are the original owners.we are concerned that the passenger airbag could be compromised and deploy without incident. Don't know how long it has been there but noticed it in june. With all the airbag recalls, we feel this could be one also as we have found other chevrolet owners with the same issue.
Takata recallapproaching one year and under review!!on january 17 2017 i called gm assistance to find out the status of recall after receiving a written notice.they stated that is still under review. It is still safe to drive. Why does it take almost a year to even start and postpone under the heading of under review?honda started the change out immediately after thenotice.are they waiting till one of the four grandchildren or wife is injured or killed?it appears that it is cheaper to have someone die than to do the correct thing of replacing a defective part.they appear to be attempting to sweep it under the rug.please draw their attention and get things completed as they should do.thank you[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The dashboard on my avalanche has developed a fairly significant crack right next to the passenger side airbag. The crack starts from towards the windshield side and leads up to and terminates at the crevice where the airbag is located. This in my opinion jeopardizes the integrity of the airbag. The concerns are that (a) the airbag may not deploy in the intended direction (b) may get ruptured due to making contact with the sharp edges of the crack or (c) may deploy unintentionally due to the weakness of the material holding it in place.this is a safety issue and gm needs to address it as such.
After washing my 2007 avalanche the seatbelton the passenger side exploded and my brakes started to fluctuate and make a spring noise. This all happened as i drove away from the car wash.

The interior door handles on my 2007 chevy avalanche ltz have peeled and become razor sharp. Opening the door under normal characteristics has caused a slice, or paper cut type of wound to my hand??truck failed to start due to dead battery after sitting for less than 24 hrs. This vehicle starts immediately after being jumped.it has occurred 3-4 times?replaced both alt and now a new battery?..cracked dash above driver & passenger airbag. Potential safety issue when airbag is deployed.
The dash is cracked in two places, one is right at the corner of the passenger air bag, the second is above the instrument panel. I was told this is happening in all gm trucks 2007-2013. Gm and the dealer will not fix. I am afraid that if the air bags deploy the dash will be shrapnel. And cosmetically it looks horrible and rattles. Gm needs to recall.
Received a notice on a recall that states that around the end of may 2016 gm began notifying owners that a recall was in place for defective airbag inflators that may degrade over time especially in hot and humid climates.that they pose a rupture risk and from researching on the nhtsa website if this happens metal particles could injure occupants...but gm states the vehicle is safe?and that parts are not available for repair yet.so my question, it's late august 2016 and i live in dallas, tx with hot humid days for months, what is considered an appropriate time to resolve?and how is this not a concern and considered safe???my irritation is that if i have a susceptible pipe bomb here, why isn't there an immediate corrective action happening??
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. While driving various speeds, an abnormal noise was heard near the dashboard. The contact noticed a crack on the dashboard near the passenger side air bag. The contact was concerned that the passenger side air bag could inadvertently deploy. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v388000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Takata recallit has been over a year since i received the recall notice with no remedy to date. While gm considers the vehicle safe to drive, the safety risk description states: "the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries".this does not sound safe to me, especially since i live in sugar land, tx where there are long periods of high heat and humidity which effects the airbag degradation. Can anyone help finalize the situation and get this recall taken care of?thank you! [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Received notification of the takata corporation air bag problem. Went to nearby gm dealer to address this problem. Service representative at serra chevrolet stated that they did not have the necessary replacements and toke my information to contact when the parts become available. Did return to the dealership around six months after my initial visit and was told the same information that the required parts have not been received.

In a turn my side air bags deployed, the shock almost caused me to hit the ditch.
Service air bag showed up on my instrument cluster. The code reader shows code b0020-0d, passenger instrument panel air bag deployment loop stage 2 short to battery. The warning has been intermittent for years and then here recently the warning became a steady illumination. When this issue first started it didn't matter if i was moving or or stationary. Now the warning does not go off. I am not 100% positive if the takata recall is what is affecting my air bag but according to the recall it is the passenger side front air bag. Currently my vehicle falls under manufacturer recall number 2049151 and nhtsa recall number 16v381. The recall is currently incomplete, and a remedy is not yet available. I live in texas so as the the ambient temperature increasedthe air bag issue became worse.

On september 3, 2017, while idling at a light with a green arrow to make a left turn, another vehicle drove through a red light and crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver was restrained by the seat belt as well as the two rear child passengers. There were no injuries. My air bag light on the dash light up and i brought it in to kolor chevy in duluth, mn.. They told me that they had received a letter on the problem and wanted to charge me between $200 and$ 300. Takata recall. I have been calling about this for years and getting the runaround. The latest is its in litigation and they will get back to me. Why is ford fixing this problem and gm is not? i'm still driving this vehicle and i have people in every day (5 kids)
The gm website has shown a "remedy not yet available" on an issue that's existed for nearly 5 years. This is unacceptable. Even their own website states that they're "working quickly" to finalize the repair options. The airbags are dangerous and must be replaced, as other major manufacturers (like ford) are doing.
The dash is cracked next to the airbag on passenger side. Manufacturer refuses to fix or replace without the consumer taking responsibility and paying for replacement. This is a one owner vehicle, garage parked, dash-mat since first acquired truck. This seems to be a very widespread problem for gm vehicles of the same make and other similar vehicles. I have a huge safety concern that the airbag upon deployment will be ruptured and become ineffective due to the crack in the dash possibly puncturing the airbag. It is also very evident that this is a manufacturing flaw that gm will not stand up for and take responsibility.
The dashboard is cracked around the passenger side airbag.this presents a hazard as shards of plastic could become projectiles if the airbag is deployed.nothing happened to cause the cracked dash, it seems to be a normal problem with these vehicles and it's creating a hazard.

"takata recall"- received notice july 2016 of gm recall 49151 and asked harper motors, 200 highway 531, minden. La. 71055 to replace recalled airbag. Service manager bj informed me that takata will send replacement airbag and when received the dealership service department would contact me. Received another notice around july 2017 about airbag lawsuit and again asked harper dealership service about replacing the airbag in my vehicle. And again was informed by bj that once the airbags are received the dealership would contact me.
The dash has cracked in multiple places starting at the passenger airbag.this is the third dash in this vehicle replaced for the same thing.this is posing a serious danger in case of an accident and the deployment of the airbag.the dash could also create a serious danger in throwing sharp projectile pieces in case of an accident.gm has had multiple complaints from 2007 to 2012 for faulty dashes but will not recall them or replace them at no cost to the consumer.there is a facebook forum for this very issue right now (search "07-13 gm cracked dash safety hazard for all trucks").please look at this facebook page as there are many pictures of dashes cracked in the same places.it appears this issue is nationwide and has no relation to climate or location.
Takata recall. It's been over a year and the parts according to my dealer ship have still not been made available. This has killed people my husband is driving a truck that is not safe. We cannot afford another car payment. This needs to be fixed. Why has gm not made the parts available for the truck.at least have it to where the old airbags that are in them be disconnected to they won't deploy and potentially kill someone else.

The manufacturer has yet to notify me for repairs to my vehicle.why is this taking so long?
I own a 2007 chevy avalanche ltz. I had an incident where my seatbelt pretensioners fired for no reason , causing great pressure across my chest. I was stopped at a stoplight . My airbag did not fire , but hazard lights, emergency systems activated. I tried to submit a safety claim through chevy but after 5 weeks they denied my claim . They sent out an investigator who found the sdm module had been corroded due to water damage . After investigating this on the internet i found this same issue to happen to many truck owners. Long story short , do i have any re-course? do you have annoy previous claims on the sdm module and pretensioners firing out of the blue? chevy says i have to pay the bill to get it fixed . It was quite the traumatic experience and i thought i had gotten shot due to the pressure and noise . I can't imagine if my daughters were in the car and the damage it could have caused to them . Please let me know if there have been previous cases with sdm or seatbelt pretensioners

Chevy avalanche was recalled for airbags but dealership said they are waiting on replacement parts.it's been about 5 years now.
Dashboard has developed severe cracking on driver and passenger sides especially around the airbag area.this is the second dashboard in this vehicle.my concern is that the airbag may be punctured or otherwise ineffective upon deployment due to the instability and sharp, broken pieces of plastic dashboard.after having the dashboard replaced previously for these same reasons it has been protected with a dashmat and sunshade.this is certainly a quality issue which gm is aware of.

Takata recall:been long enough , this should have been settled months a go.lives are at stake - please the government needs to step in and force these to be corrected?afraid to drive this truck has only 36,000 miles on it and we choose not to risk our lives by driving!!help!!!
Takata recall.this recall has been open for over 3 years with no remedy!! please help.my airbag light is always on when care is powered on.
Initially the dash board cracked in one corner on the passenger side, at the right upper corner of the inset for the passenger airbag. Now the dash board has split in the center and the left upper corner at the passenger side air bag. It seems if the passenger side air bag were to deploy the broken sections of the dash would become projectiles inflicting serious injury. I have notified the local chevy dealer, vester chevy, svc manager [xxx] , but they state it is a "normal" wear item! they refuse to address the issue. I have noticed in google searches and vehicles i look at the problem is widespread on gm tahoe and gmc yukons for several years of production. Please make this note a subject of concern. The airbag deployed when i wasn't driving or hit anything.it was in park. I put my foot on the brake to shift into reverse and it deployed.
Dashboard cracked in multiple locations, without any major accident/no airbag deployment. I am concerned dash is so brittle any airbag deployment will cause the dashboard to separate into pieces and become shrapnel. I'm the original owner of the vehicle. The first crack started approximately in nov 2011 and now has gotten worse over time.

Gm has a safety issue with dashboards cracking near where the airbag deploys on the passenger side of the vehicles. There is also cracking on the left side of the instrument pod. All cracks are in identical areas of these same model years and newer. This is my second dash board that has to be replaced.
The dashboard has numerous cracks that will send shrapnel flying when the airbags deploy.the pieces of the dash could be deadly in an accident with propelled by the force of the airbag.
Takata inflators:my air bag light came on, it was reset and came back on a short time after. I have electrical issues with cruise control, radio andfan for heat and a/c.once in s while i get a smell ofburning wire. Received safety recall letter dated july 2016 for takata airbags but everytime that i contact multiple chevy dealers they say that gm has not released this recall and is still arguing with nhtsa about the need for the recall. Meanwhile i am driving a vehicle that could kill me.it is fairly simple, either the airbags are the same defective technology as the ones recalled or not. Force them to get on with the recall repairs.i did contact my us repr phil roe;s office on this matter and he suggested filing this complaint with nhtsa.

Dash crack far left corner on 07 avalanche causes airbag unit to not sit properly in mounts. Area on indicated part of dash flimsy not reinforced. Damage caused by heat (speculating,) spilt 2" from 0" in 6hrs during drive from san diego ca to las vegas nv, no prior damage or signs of stress. Due to passenger airbag not seated properly, afraid if airbag deployed may not deploy correctly. Dealer considers crack cosmetic, says airbag is independent and should not be affected which i agree but that doesn't mean it will open if it can be "jarred" from its seating in the dash if it can dislodge. And in an accident with enough force to deploy airbag it could be thrust upward from its seating and thus changing the angles of which it is intended to cover during deployment. I see a potential flaw here due to oversight in engineering and feel it needs further review.i have included a video i found on youtube that shows a dash in a 07 tahoe (same dash as 07 avalanche) which is cracked the same way, it clearly shows how due to this crack the airbag unit is not secure in its seating and could potentially "jump out" as well the flimsiness in the dash area i am speculating towards lack of reinforcement.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_drp8slwvgo&feature=related*please note that no crack or indication of stress was visible 2 days prior, dealer considers crack to be strictly cosmetic and not covered under warranty. I agree the crack in nature is cosmetic however being that it can disrupt a crucial life-saving component the manufacture should be required to repair so that all possible effected systems function correctly as required.
I had been noticing that there was a slight noise on the right front end of my 2007 avalanche. I checked the undercarriage and didn't notice anything wrong. I had an oil change done and it came w/ a free tire rotation. The sound seemed to be gone after that , i can't be sure. The truck had approx. 12,000 miles on it. I was going to drop off some papers with a customer on oct. 6th when i heard the noise again. I was looking for the customer's tractor that we were repairing in the field and was slightly bothered by the sun so i put one of my hands up to block the sun. When i looked back at the road, i was in the wrong lane. I tried to correct and the vehicle accelerated on it's own! i applied the brakes but didn"t get the same response as before. I ended up in a concrete ditch. By the way, the airbag didn't deploy and the onstar didn't get help there either. I talked to gm and they kind of just brushed it off.i still have physical and emotional issues because of it.
Upon arrival at work and parking my chevrolet avalanche in the parking lot, i heard a couple of popping noises come from under the hood of the vehicle. I pulled the hood release lever and noticed flames emerging from the engine compartment. I called emergency services, but the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames before they could put the fire out. The vehicle was was a total loss.

In december 2011 my avalanche shut itself offduringa snow storm.eventually, it started but because of reduced power it would only go between 35-45 miles per hour.i made it to a repair shop, they could not find a problem, but replaced sensors and/or relays. In june 2012 the lights came on, i could only go approx 35-40 miles per hour.called and set up an appointment.on the way to the appointment the engine oil light came on and the car shut down.i had to call for a tow truck.i took it to a non dealer service repair shop, because they were the closest.when they looked the car over the wireswere eaten. I was informed that the newer cars have a soy base in their wiring and that the rodents love to eat this product.why are they using this soy based wiring?this is not safe.i can not have myvehicle break downleaving mestranded on the side of the road.it is getting very costly when parts are being replaced when it is the wiring that is faulty.i live in the country and i can notkeep the mice out of my truck.please look into why the car manufactures are using this product which is causing major safety and financial concernswhy aren't the manufactures informing the public of this problem.

- my dashboard has had a large crack in it for some time now and i am needing it to be repaired as i am not the only one with this issue.- the dashboard is considered the cover for the instrument/control panel of my vehicle. It is not in good shape due to this crack which would cause a greater hazard should the air bag deploy and cause the dash to send pieces of plastic flying everywhere.- this problem has already been brought to gm's attention in a lawsuit. - it has been inspected by myself and other passengers in the vehicle and a cause for great concern since i have no idea why the crack even appeared after having taken care of my truck very well since the first day i've owned it. - no warning lamps that i am aware of but then again, not sure if issues i've faced since owning it are due to this crack.
2007 chevrolet avalanche. Consumer expresses discontent in regards to the repair and recall of heated washer fluid system *tgw
In apr 2009 i took my 2007 chevy avalanche in for servicing.the "check engine" light was on and i had recall #0848 performed.this recall was to install a wire harness (heated washer fluid module shortcircuit).the catalytic converter and an 02 sensor was replaced.approximately aug/sept i had an odor in the vehicle (smelled like dirty feet or the interior carpet was wet for some time, without proper ventilation to dry.however, i thought that was odd as i was unable to locate any leaks inside the cab of the vehicle.)on or about oct 2nd, i was driving on the freeway and the "check engine" light came on and a message to turn off the engine which i did.after being towed to the dealership, i was told the engine had lost oil pressure and a sensor was replaced.immediately after the work was performed the smell went away but that same evening i was driving and the windshield wipers started going, fluid spraying, while in the off position.i had to turn the vehicle off to get it to stop.i immediately notified the dealer, since this has happened 2 or 3 times. The end of dec i took my vehicle in to the dealership for the intermittent wiper/fluid problem and i thought the transmission was slipping.they couldn't find an issue with the transmission and their diagnosis for the wiper unit was that the module was bad and needed to be replaced.they referred to bulletin #4298, dated 02/26/07, and part #1910885.it is my belief that all the failed sensors/parts are related to the recall and i am hoping the investigation to the recall is still open/on-going.fyi:within the first year of purchasing the vehicle my battery needed to be replaced after being inspected at the dealership.if i remember correctly there were several occasions i was unable to start the vehicle.there should be records on file at the dealership pertaining to this issue.lastly, i do have the part that was replaced as a result of the oil pressure sensor.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contactstated he received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 10v240000 (electrical system) and took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. The failure and current mileage was approximately 73,000.
The alarm sound for warning of seat belt unbuckled, door open, keys in ignition, etc, is generally inaudible.occasionally it does work, but usually it does not.in 2010, the dealer said this was an issue with the radio.my warranty had expired so repair was no longer covered.i did not have the problem repaired due to the high cost.i thought that this was an isolated incident until i just read that there is a recall for this exact problem in later models.-when functional, the alarm sound emanates only from the speaker on the left side.i swapped the left and right speakers and the problem remained, suggesting that it is not a speaker issue.when the audible alarms are dead, so is the left side sound when the radio is on.
Cluster panels on chevy trucks, tend to blank out due to faulty connections. This is dangerous in that you have no idea of millage on truck and when to change oil, check brakes, all the things milage meters are used for.if you go on the internet you see all sorts of videos on this problem from other chevy truck owners. Chevy does not acknowledge the issue
I used my factory remote to unlock the truck the ignition sparked twice and then went on fire, for no reason it just started burning the entire steering column and all of what is around it burnedup we used a pitcher of water to put the fire out, i contacted gm and was advised there was no recall for this. It can not be common for a car or truck to just ignite unlocking the doors we are grateful that i was not in the truck and just suffered burns to my hands trying to put the fire out if not my entire home would have been in flames.
Vehicle caught on fire, while parked in apartment parking lot, engine not running. Vehicle was parked for at least 30 minutes, before being notified that it was on fire.
Takata inflators:my air bag light came on, it was reset and came back on a short time after. I have electrical issues with cruise control, radio andfan for heat and a/c.once in s while i get a smell ofburning wire. My transmission began bumping on accelerationseveral months ago also when cranking it move forward a bit in park. The transmission bump is when accelerating, the electrical issues are random, the airbag light stays on.
When light comes on engine runs rough and shifts hard. When light goes off it runs fine.
Traveling at a normal rate and speed on a 5-lane highway.vehicle loss power, engine lights activated.after maneuvering the vehicle off the highway, i shut the engine off.no signs of smoke or any leaks from engine (topside or underneath).i attempted to restart the vehicle and upon doing so the engine turned over and ran at a rough idle, clearly not on all 8 cylinders.i shut the engine off again.from that point on it was towed.the chevrolet dealership (after 8 days and 449 miles later) then told me they could not find a problem.when they received the vehicle the original codes had been taken by a precision tune mechanic (nearest facility from location of break down)the dealership then informed me they could not duplicate the problem and was apologetic for any inconvenience. I received a bill for $103.95 and my vehicle which had only a 1/8 of a tank of fuel.after a little research i found gm recall no:08048 consequence: may cause electrical features to malfunction. Thanks chevrolet and chevrolet service technicians for taking care of your customers.unfortunately their dealerships and district specialist do not follow their own executive director of safety who is quoted on the gm website "we always want to make sure customers can count on the safety and quality of their gm vehicle." says, [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The engine has a hesitation due to a manufacuring problem it also uses more oil than it should between oil changes. Also having problem with the electrical system every time i turn around something stops working like the side mirror on the drivers side won't fold in like its supposed to and the backup sensor stopped working. Tried to get our mechanic to fix it but it needs a code to get into the electrical system and gm won't give it to anyone but thier own mechanics. So now we have to go to the dealership to have it fix which will cost alot more. About amonth after purchase the dash got a small crack around the passenger air bag. This is our second 2007 avalanche the first one had no problems at all and i had no idea that this model had so many problems that the manufacturer won't fix. With as much as these trucks cost even used the should have to repair things that are manufacturer defects
I drove to work & parked my 2007 avalanche in my employers truck garage as i do every day. I went into the office attended a job briefing & we put on our coveralls for work then we got ready to leave to go to the 1st jobsite but as soon as the 1st two coworkers walked out of the shop they turned around yelling that my truck was on fire. I didn't believe them at 1st because i had just parked like 15 minutes prior. Parked & not running.well i looked and my whole engine compartment was full of flames. We used 4 fire extinguishers to put the fire out & the fire department arrived to finish.my vehicle was totalled & i only had liability insurance.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the driver's side door control panel was no longer working and a burning odor were emitting from the panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 112,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contactstated that once the key was inserted in the ignition switch, thevehicle made a grinding noise. The grinding noise continued oncethe contacts hand was removed away from the ignition key. Thecontact turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle. Thevehicle resumed normal operations. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not contacted. There was no diagnostic test completed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 104,000.
My main concern is the fact that the vehicle burns excessive amounts of oil.i have lodged about five complaints with ourisman rockmont chevrolet and my concerns remained unadressed.they did, on one occasion, change a gasket cover and oil pan gasket, but the problem persisted.finally, i was recently told that i needed an oil deflector per a service bulletin and was told it would cost nearly $1,500.00.although my concerns were all made during the warranty period, ourisman is attempting to charge me now that my vehicle is outside the warranty.i contacted chevy customer service but no luck.
There have been continual problems with the engine of my truck and i have found out since buying it there are severe problems with a lot of the engines of the 2007 avalanche. The mechanic told me when we brought the truck in to find out why the engine had a hesitation in it, that we should hope it was the exhaust system seals needing to be replaced that caused the hesitation because the only other times he had seen this problem it was a manufacturing defect in the 2007 gmc engines that he had seen these problems with alot of the 2007 chevy and gmc trucks including his own. We also about 2 months after buying the truck noticed that the truck was going through oil very quickly but the mechanic said that the seals weren't leaking so didn't know why we were burning oil so fast. The dash has cracked at the corner of the air bag and if there is an accident it could send shards flying. The drivers door sticks and the stability control go's in and out of working order. The electric mirrors stopped folding in and tilting down and tried to have it fixed but chevrolet said they wouldn't give the mechanic the code to get into the computer system to fix it and the back up sensor that had stopped working also. We now have to go to a chevrolet dealership to have it fixed. There have been so many problems with these trucks that chevrolet hasn't fixed these trucks even used usually cost at least $15000 brand new you could double or triple that price i don't think it's a lot to ask to have a decent engine the other problems i could deal with but the engine problem they should fix
Stabilitrak and reduced engine power comes on at rates of sometimes 3-4 times per day. No common denominator i.e. Weather, road conditions, time of year..can be driving down interstate at 70 mph or sitting idle in park. This is very dangerous when driving loved ones around. Unfortunately i've gone as far as having a diagnostic computer hooked up at all times so i can clear the computer every time it happens in order to drive again.i've had the throttle body cleaned, changed. Computer changed and reset twice...nothing has helped. This has been happening for yearssomeone needs to address this before someone is severely injured or worse
I was driving approximately 50 mph when my "stabilitrak off" indicator light popped on followed by "traction control off" and finally "service stabilitrak". This all happened in a matter of 10 seconds so i slowed down and tried to turn in a parking lot but my wheels locked as if i was pressing the brakes although i wasn't. My truck came to a immediate stop by itself. I searched the internet to see what could cause this problem and noticed that this has been happening for the past 10yrs or so on gm vehicles without any specific reason why. This is definitely a safety issue that needs to be addressed.
Abs light on
Vehicle has 120,000 miles on it and has a random misfire, with traction control and stabiltrack warnings and a flashing check engine light.engine has excessive oil consumption and runs rough.installed new plugs and wires, no change.after reading up on these engines i found out that the afm / dod feature is a common failure for these engines.gm should step up and help owners with some of the repair costs.this is going to be expensive.
So i was sitting at a red light, everything was cool.. And when i started to accelerate the truck almost felt like we got rear-ended. Then when i tried to accelerate it felt like it had slipped into neutral. Drive is completely dead, when i put itinto drive, i get nothing. So i put it in 1st, and it worked, it went into gear. Then when i started to accelerate it made this horrible scratching/grinding/whining sound. So i can accelerate slowly and switch to 2nd, slowly, and accelerate slowly and switch to 3rd. 3rd feels good when i accelerate but then if i step on it, it slips out of 3rd back to that neutral feeling. If i try to accelerate quickly in 1st and 2nd i get that horrible sound and grinding feel.it is so many people having this same problem over and over. Some say the dealer charge them over $2800 plus to repair others say some dealers fixed the part in the trans called the forward sprag gear and everything was ok. Its crazy that so many people with the same problem. 95 percent of the trucks despite the mileage ( 30, 000 to 93, 000) on her truck did this right after the warranty was up. My truck 07 with only 62, xxx on it trans has now done the same thing as everyone else truck. Someone should force gm to recall these transmission and fix them. Word is they used the same transmission that's in mid size cars and light duty trucks and if so everybody willhave issues with a full size truck and a light duty transmission!
Stabilty light came on, loss of power, check engine light, rough shifting into 2 gear. It has been down for 2 years. And not fixed yet, chevy dealership does not know what tpo do. There needs tobe a recall on the flex fuel. We were going down i-20 when all this happened. There was nearly an accident
Driving at normal speed 55 mph then all of a sudden the stabilizer track and abs light kicked in causing the vechile to decrease in power nearly stopping almost resulting in crash and bodily harm to me example hitting the steering wheel due to sudden stopping
Stability control warning pops up on display, resulting in a severe power reduction. This causes the vehicle speed to drop from 70 mph to around 35mph instantly. This nearly resulted in a rear end collision, of course. This was only prevented by a very alert driver behind me. I read that this is a very common issue with gm vehicles yet nothing is being done by gm to provide a safety recall
Entered interstate 74 in indiana, got up to 65 mph and traction control light came on along with the check engine light. Had 30 miles to go to get to destination so kept driving and lights would go off after about 3 minute interval and would come back on. This happened about 8 times during the trip. Finally the lights went off and did not come back on as of yet. My wife and i heard a clunking noise during this period of time. Very concerned that this may happen again when my wife is going to grocery store or any where by herself and get stranded somewhere. She is afraid to drive the 2007 chevrolet avalanche now.
We were driving down i20 when we were coming off the off ramp and the stabilization light came on and we got to the stop sign to turn right and as were take off it shifted really bad out into 2nd it jerked really bad and we had no power we made it home and now it turns over but will not start. 2007 avalance it has 50,000 miles. I have been talking to other people on car gurus and there are thousand on that sight having the same problem were having. And the sad thing is we dont have the money to have our truck towed into town and get it fixed. Becasue they tells us that they have so many people having the same problem. I feel like gm should do a recall or people should be able to do a group lawsuit toward gm for such a big deal like this is. And also our dashes are all cracked down the middle. Which on that sight there are alot having same issue.

I bought this truck new and at about 30000 miles it starts to burn oil.about a quart between oil changes.took to dealer and they replaced lifters.there was no difference.then did oil consumption test where it got to the point of burning 1quart of oil every 800 miles.took back in then was told extended warranty will not cover and it is normal wear.truck at that time only had 73000 miles on it(aug.2015).they told me it could be$3600 to repair this issue.i than told them not to touch it and still dealing with issue at 78000 miles.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle suddenly would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the number 7 coil pack was defective. The mechanic replaced the number 7 coil pack and the number 7 spark plug to correct the defect. Additionally, the front passenger's side interior door handle would cause lacerations to the contact's hand when attempting to exit the vehicle.the contact also indicated that the dashboard was cracked and there were concerns of the air bags being compromised. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. While driving approximately 60 mph, the traction control warning indicator illuminated, and the steering wheel and engine began to shake uncontrollably. The odometer speed reduced drastically on its own. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. When the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the exhaust manifold bolt heads fractured and caused an exhaust leak. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The 5.3 engine has had many complaints from owners where the engine fails due to oil recirculation and valves going bad. The manufacturer will not do anything to replace the engines. The engine starts running extremely rough and had to be towed to a repair facility
Date of current incidents: 1/3/11; 1/4/11; 7/28/11; 8/23/11; 9/07/11; 12/9/11; 12/16/11; 6/4/12; 6/10/12 and 6/11/12 and 6/l7/12.the engine light comes on; engine reduce power light, stabilizer tract light comes on plus oil light and other lights.i have had it in the shop to try to figure out why my avalanche keeps breaking down.and i was told that they can not find a problem.i was neverinformed that they have had probems with the wiring.
Total engine loss at highway speed, chevrolet want to replace the engine, but as i read all these complaint about engine and oil and afm. I believe they should be held accountable for selling lemons. The nhtsa must put a end to manufacturers selling trash.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Misfire in cylinder 1.
Exhaust manifold bolt heads are breaking off causing there to be an exhaust leak. Pollution recall should be inforced to have gm cover all repairs of the exhaust manifold bolts. Check engine light comes on and vehicle can not pass emissions with this problem.

After washing my 2007 avalanche the seatbelton the passenger side exploded and my brakes started to fluctuate and make a spring noise. This all happened as i drove away from the car wash.

I startedsmelling gas and that went on for 2 months now at a idle you can see fuel dripping off the fuel tank coming from the top of the fuel tank. I believe the metal liine have rusted.
The vehicle is equipped with the ability to handle flex fuel after you run the flex fuel then switch back to unleaded the fuel pump is damaged, i've spoken to other owners that own an avalanche same model year and they are experiencing the same issue but gm ignores this. Can you offer any feed back for this ? if so thanks.
Two weeks ago driving 60mph on highway in snow engine light illuminates and lose total power."reduce power mode" illuminated but engine shut off.we almost got rear ended by a tractor trailer on [xxx].on side of road for 2 hrs in 20 degree weather waiting on aaa (no shoulder on hway) and motor starts.take it to garage and get throttle position sensor (tps) code ans stabilitrak/abs code.we had accidentally hit the onstar button a minute before this and mechanic thought that was related so he cleared code and sent us on our way.for two weeks we were good andit happened again on highway in rain [xxx] this weekend, again in middle of highway.this time car started after five minutes.took car to dealer and they state the tps needs replacing and front wheel speed sensor broken.there is a gm service bulletin #11273b where gm acknowledges tps issue and covers replacement of tps for 2008-2011 vehicles.also bulletin pip3089b for bad wiring to tps for 2003-2006 avalanches.gm denied my service despite the fact that a 2007 tps and throttle body are the same exact part number as the defective one.this is super dangerous and extremely frequent as there are 550 posts alone on [xxx] as well as many reports to [xxx] please assist as they are not standing behind a defective and deadly product as the computer cuts total power right on highway...parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
I own a 2007 chevy avalanche ltz.i have just broken the third exterior door hanlde, two have already been replaced at my cost.the first two were the rear doors, and now the passenger door which receives very limited use.
December 2010, while just opening my door normally to enter the vehicle ... My exterior drivers door handle broke off of its mount. Took to a gm authorized service center and it was repaired for approx $160.00.it is now january 21st, 2011, just a few weeks later, and the same thing has now happened to the drivers side rear passenger door.the exterior door handle broke off.i am not the only person having this problem with my vehicle as i have found numerous others across the country complaining of the same thing.if i had a child in the vehicle where there was an emergency and i could not get to that child because the door handles break then this could be a potentially huge issue.i have never had a door handle break off in any other vehicle i have ever owned or tried opening....and now 2 in about 6 weeks.gm states it is not covered and they are unwilling to cooperate.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche.he attempted to enter the vehicle from the front drivers side door and the door handle fell off.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired.the failure has since recurred on all 4 doors, including the front passenger side door twice.after each failure occurred the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the dashboard became fractured on the steering wheel area near the air bag. The contact was concerned that the air bags may deploy due to the failure. In addition, the contact stated that the front driver and the front passenger inside door handles fractured and separated from the panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
I am a soldier with 17yrs of active duty service and i was home over the weekend for the mlk weekend with my family. I leave monday morning about 0900am to return back to my home station and my truck was driving fine, i stopped at a red light to make a left turn and when the light turned green i accelerated to about 5-10mph then there was a clunking noise and my vehicle would not accelerate anymore it would just send the rpms up so i drifted off the road and put my vehicle in park because i just had my vehicle serviced. I checked all my fluids and they all were fine so i put my vehicle in reverse worked fine, selected drive and it wouldn't move, selected 3rd gear wouldn't move, selected 2nd gear truck would move, and selected 1st the truck would move. There i was with my wife and my 2 daughters and mother-n-law on the side of the road in nc, luckily we didn't get that far from my in-laws home and they called a local shop that towed my vehicle back to her home. I have always wanted an avalanche but i get on the computer and i start reading about other people who have had the same problem and that is shocking, and to happen under a 100k miles. This is not my 1st chevy vehicle i have owned as well, i have owned a chevy trailblazer ltz that the four wheeled drive went out on that i purchase for my wife, so i traded that in for the 07 trailblazer ss that my wife really loved and that vehicle ended having an electrical fire from the wiring harness and my vehicle sat down at the dealership for almost a month until i notified them that something has to happen in which they let me trade that vehicle in for a honda accord in which i haven't had any issues out of that my wife is currently driving. In my reading last night when i finally made it back home after borrowing a car from my nephew that just happens to be another honda accord and i see all these stories posted horrible.
When the vehicle shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear around 17mph there is a loud clunk, and it sounds like the transmission is having trouble.it doesn't shift smoothly.after looking online this is a common issue for the avalanches.chevrolet knowingly put in a transmission that doesn't effectively do it's job. The curb weight of a avalanche is 6000lbs and my uncle owns the same truck, which has eaten 2 transmissions so far with the same mileage.
Transmission failure with loss of drive, 3, and reverse gears.2nd and 1st were slipping badly when returned to dealer.vehicle has approximately 57,100 miles and has never towed or pulled anything.vehicle is 2wd ltz model.
When light comes on engine runs rough and shifts hard. When light goes off it runs fine.
The truck would not move; feels as if the truck locked up while driving and came to an abrupt stop.
The contact owns 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the vehicle started rolling backwards while it was in park.the vehicle was not parked on a hill. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that there was a related technical service bulletin stating that some vehicles may rock or move forward while in the park position. The dealer also stated that the failure was caused by the transmission fluid releasing from the clutch pad which was normal. The contact stated this was not normal and could have caused the vehicle to crash into the garage. The dealer stated that there was nothing to repair. The failure mileage was 64,400.updated 02/01/11*ljupdated 03/22/11
I had backed up a jet ski into a parking space.i had got out of the car to check spacing and got back in and closed the door.went to place vehicle in drive and both side airbags deployed with my four year old son in the back seat.
The interior seat belts are cutting grooves in the plastic where they come out from on rear passenger seats. Also the interior door handles which are covered with chrome are peeling and the faux chrome is sharp an causes cuts if not opening the door from inside carefully. The cuts on fingers are painful. Has occurred to myself and passengers unaware of issue .
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche.the front driver's seat belt latch failed.the dealer charged $200 to replace the seat belt latch.the contact thought that the dealer would replace the entire unit at that price.the manufacturer took a report and was informed by the dealer that the seat belt was not defective.the failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. While the contact's husband was exiting a ramp, the driver and passenger side seat belts locked and both curtain air bags deployed without warning or impact. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to mark porter chevrolet buick gmc (42411 charles chancey dr, pomeroy, oh 45769 (740) 992-6614). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact's vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the locking mechanism of the driver and passenger side seat belts randomly unlocked. The contact stated that the failure occurred more frequently within the last two months. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

After washing my 2007 avalanche the seatbelton the passenger side exploded and my brakes started to fluctuate and make a spring noise. This all happened as i drove away from the car wash.
When driving my avalanche on a highway, as i approached a red light, i pushed my brake and it went to the floor board. I pumped my brakes to stop and i felt a pulsation as i pushed the brake pedal again and i could brake. This happens intermittantly. I have seen complaints about this on the internet. It should be investigated because chevrolet wants me to pay for this problem.
Stability control and traction control not workingcan not find part to repplace as gm has discontinued the part needed steering angle position sensorgm part15886733 i need this part, why is it discontinued?
My 2007 chevrolet avalanche ltz has been in the shop 10x for grinding and squeaking noises coming from the right front wheel. The dealership stated they cannot duplicate this even though their service tech's heard it twice. The brakes have been replaced and the rotors re-surfaced, with the problem beginning @ 22,000 miles and continuing to this day at 44,000. The sound has been caught on video several times at different mileages but gm continues to state that it is not a concern to them. The sound begins slowly as the truck picks up speed it increases and then finally disappears at @ 35mph.
Own a 2007 chevrolet avalanche 5.3l flex fuel v8 4x4. Recently when starting it, it turned over longer than normal, and then started with rpm gauge still at 0 rpm's. Then put in reverse, and it said stabilitrack is off and needs servicing soon. Truck started moving backwards, and then seemed as if the brakes were applied, wheels simply would not move backwards. Tried to movie it back and forth several times. Thought brakes were applied or transfer case or axle or differential had issues. Then started it again 3 minutes later and everything worked fine and back to normal, except check engine light was on. An hour later, started it again and this time everything was back to normal. Called dealer and they stated they had seen this before, but it most likely won't be under warranty. Odd seeing as how a large number of other people with tahoes/suburbans/avalanches, and other vehicles expressed the same issue online and on forums...
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that while turning, at a slow speed, the vehicle would grind excessively. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle as not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000 and the current mileage was approximately 42,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. While driving at various speeds and attempting to make a left turn, there would be an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. While undergoing an oil change, it was brought to the contact's attention by the dealer's service department that the bracket on the rack and pinion on the passenger side of the vehicle had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.
Dash crackedhad to replace rack and pinion, now the steering angle position sensor is not working causing the stabilitrak and traction control to show a code..
2007 chevrolet avalanche has two cracks in the dash.one in the upper left hand corner near the passenger side airbag and one on the left side of the instrument cluster.
Not sure of the exact date my husband noticed the dashboard was cracked in two places on our avalanche.it is my understanding that this is a common problem with the avalanche and similar gm vehicles and nothing is being done about it.all the owners of these vehicles would like something to be done about the dashboard.it is a factory defect and should be taken care of by gm with no expense incurred by the owners.i am sure there are many more owners who have not reported this issue.
Cracked dashboard directly above airbag on passenger side on 2007 z71 avalanche (original owner). This is apparently a manufactures defect and is apparently happening on numerous gm vehicles for this model year. Gm is unwilling to fix saying it is not a defect and is only cosmetic and will not fix.
2007chevrolet avalanche. Letter received from people claim a dispute resolution organization, listing several vehicle complaints. *tgwthe consumer stated the dashboard was replaced at 40,000 miles and it has since cracked again.
Dash cracking.
Gm has a safety issue with dashboards cracking near where the airbag deploys on the passenger side of the vehicles. There is also cracking on the left side of the instrument pod. All cracks are in identical areas of these same model years and newer. This is my second dash board that has to be replaced.
Vehicle has been and is driven under normal conditions and is accident free. Cracks to dash above instrument panel and by passenger airbag. It's an obvious manufacture defect, other gm owners are filing complaints with the same issue. My concern is the crack may inflict unnecessary injury or further injury to the passenger in the event the airbag deploys. I'm hoping those responsible for insuring this defect does not cause harm to a passage takes a proactive stance and investigates this issue. Thanks - [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags). The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called carl black chevrolet (535 murfreesboro pike, nashville, tn 37210, (888) 509-5199) and was informed that the part was not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 181,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
A big crack appeared on my 2007 chevy avalanche dashboard just above the cluster (passengers side). A second crash appeared just next to the passenger air bag cover, which is a potential safety issue.. I wouldn't like to see plastic parts on my passengers eyes if an accident occurs.
The dash board is cracking.
My dashboard has two large cracks around the passenger and drivers side airbags....i see this is a big problem for many people so i'm not quite sure why they are not looking into it!
2007 chevrolet avalanche. Consumer writes in regards to a cracked dashboard. *tgwthe consumer stated the dashboard was replaced at 40,000 miles, and it has since cracked again.
Gm has a safety issue with dashboards cracking near where the airbag deploys on the passenger side of the vehicles. There is also cracking on the left side of the instrument pod. All cracks are in identical areas of these same model years and newer. I have two vehicles (2007 tahoe and 2007 avalanche with same cracks and will file two complaints).
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked near the air bag area. The contact was concerned that the air bag would deploy unexpectedly. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The manufacturer also stated that the dashboard was not covered by a recall, although the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags). The dealer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The dash cracked on my avalanche as i was sitting at a light right by the passenger airbag. This truck is very well taken care of, and it happened just outside of the 36,000 mile warranty. The dash is only cosmetic, but i am concerned about the stability of the airbag at this point, and if i get into a crash that the airbag will come loose or the dash break into many pieces. These cracks are an issue on avalanches, tahoes, and suburbans, and there have been many complaints so far. Gm is not helping and considers this cosmetic only. There are very serious potential safety issues with the airbag.
2007 chevrolet avalanche tailgate handle broke while opening tailgate. Many gm trucks seem to have this problem. Dealer did not have it in stock. The dealer recommendedbut they do not carry avalanche parts. This problem happened on our last avalanche a 2005, when it turned 4 years old also. Judging from just doing a google tailgate handle search, this seems to be a widespread problem through many model years and trim levels. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Dashboard crack on passenger side next to airbag.
My 2007 avalanche demonstrates a popping and creaking noise from the front end while in 4 wheel drive and turning a sharp corner. This noise is accompanied by a felt binding in the steering wheel and a feeling of a loss of power.
My dash has broken/cracked in the same place as others have reported. The crack is located behind the air bag lid starts near the middle of the air bag lid and extends to the edge of the dash.the air bag could possibly rip if it were to catch on the sharp edge that is exposed.first replacement of the dash was in may of 2009 and has cracked again in the same location in february 2014.
Dash board broken many area's.

Dash board cracking , around passenger airbag and above drivers dash
Vehicle caught on fire, while parked in apartment parking lot, engine not running. Vehicle was parked for at least 30 minutes, before being notified that it was on fire.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v388000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Cracked dashboard around airbag
After driving in the summer went inside my house, when i came out the dash had cracked above the airbag area. Also cracked above the instrument cluster. The truck was not moving. The dash has no structure under the center of the dash to keep the dash from flexing. If parking with dash half covered in shade then the dash will be different temps on opposite sides
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the dashboard had developed a crack. The contact stated that the crack was above the front passenger side air bag. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 180,000.

Interior door handle chrome is peeling off. Seems to be made very "cheap". Cut my hand while opening the door. Called gm customer care, rep told me because i purchased it used that my vehicle does not qualify to be repaired.
Takata recall. The contact owned a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard was cracked. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The interior door handle on the passenger side is a major cut hazard. My wife cut her hand on the peeling plastic of the door handle.
Dash board cracked on top left corner next to airbag and above the instrument panel. This appears to be a very common problem with all 2007-2013 chevy avalanches, tahoes, suburbans, silverados, and gmc yukons, sierras, and denalis.
Dash cracks............crack over pass airbag and over instrument cluster.........
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact noticed premature cracks on the dashboard that extended towards the front passenger side. The contact was unable to determine if the failure would impact the air bag components. The dealer (riverside chevrolet, 8200 auto dr, riverside, ca 92504, (866) 849-7117) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and recommended that the dealer replace the dashboard. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
The 5.3 engine has had many complaints from owners where the engine fails due to oil recirculation and valves going bad. The manufacturer will not do anything to replace the engines. The engine starts running extremely rough and had to be towed to a repair facility
My truck has developed 2 large cracks in the dash, one over the instrument cluster and the other surrounding the passenger airbag. The cracks developed around 30,000 miles. The truck has been garage kept, and now with 55,000 miles the cracks are getting bigger and much worse. The major concern is the crack around the passenger airbag. With the dash being this brittle and weak, we are afraid of what may happen in an accident where the front airbags deploy. The dash appears that it may shatter into pieces or at least come apart and potentially allow shards of plastic to be thrown around in an accident. This issue is effecting a large amount of these model vehicles, so there is an obvious defect in the design. A new design for the dash should be developed and then replaced in our vehicles to unsure our safety, and to address the cosmetic defects of a vehicle with a purchase price well over $50,000. The dealer says that gm is not going to help cover the cost, or offer a replacement part for free at least. All they said was they could replace it for $1,300. This is the 2nd big issue i have had with this vehicle, recently we had to have $2,500 in engine repairs done due to the faulty displacement on demand system is the these 5.3l engines. Another common failure in these vehicles that gm is ignoring.
Exterior door handle broke off in hand. First the rear door, and now all doors within a two year time frame.i'm not sure if this is related to the heat in florida as the other recall on the interior door handles has been performed due to separation of the chrome. Exterior door handle breakage causes a risk from cuts and abrasions, and also the possibility of falling due to expecting the handle to stay in place and not break so easily. This also makes the vehicle a target for theft, as all that is required for a break in is a hard pull and a screw driver making easy access for a criminal.
The dashboard has multiple cracks in it. Two of the cracks go straight to passenger air bags. 1 is on the corner of drivers side dash and the last one is in the center of the dash.
Typical dashboard cracks at the right upper corner of the airbag panel, the dome over the instrument cluster cracked in 3 places.concerned about the safety of the airbag if/when it is needed.vehicle hit a deer this past week, luckily the airbags did not deploy.
The dashboard has numerous cracks that will send shrapnel flying when the airbags deploy.the pieces of the dash could be deadly in an accident with propelled by the force of the airbag.
Dash cracked with 3 large cracks at 30,000 miles and chrome trim on door handles also peeled with sharp edges. Both were replaced by dealer and cracked again with < 10,000 additional miles gm refused to replace unless i paid 1/2 the cost of $1200 so never got fixed. This has happened to thousands of others and gm should be responsible for defects. I worked for gm and someone told me they were using too much torque when the dashes were installed but gm will not accept responsibility. I feel it is a safety issue as far as the airbags might go off accidentally while driving or not in the event of an accident!
My dashboard has cracked.it extends nearly half way across the entire dashboard.
I'm hoping you can get these issues recalled. As i have researched around the web, i had come to find that these issues are very common among gm/chevy brand. People should not have to pay out of their own pockets to fix something that is unsafe and defective. Here are the issues below:interior: plastic cover for "chrome" door handle is very sharp my wife has cut herself.exterior: door handles come loose and already has pinched a several fingers.
I have a 2007 chevy avalanche with the interior driver door handle chrome splitting and leaving a razor sharp edge that has drawn blood. The split is along the seam on the top edge of the handle.
I own a 2007 chevy avalanche ltz.i have just broken the third exterior door hanlde, two have already been replaced at my cost.the first two were the rear doors, and now the passenger door which receives very limited use.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. The contact stated that the dashboard started to fracture near the passenger's side air bag housing and also close to the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to sam leman automotive group (1502 morrissey dr, bloomington, il 61701, (309) 663-4311) where the dashboard was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche. While accelerating the vehicle pulled from side to side. The dealer diagnosed that the motor shock was worn out. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was advised of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.updated 05/30/17*lj"left motor support" is loose in the vheicle, so when accelarting on the left, motor lifts up. *as
The truck would not move; feels as if the truck locked up while driving and came to an abrupt stop.
Early in september 2012, i noticed a small 1 inch crack in the dashboard of my truck, a 2007 chevrolet avalanche ltz.this crack was located on the driver's side of the dashboard, to the left of the instrument cluster and near the windshield.over the next few weeks the crack got larger, about 4 inches long approximately.i called a gm service line and the first dealer they connected me with said since i wasn't the original owner and the truck was out of warranty, they could not replace it unless i paid the full cost, which at the time was about $1800.i called gm again and the next dealer told me that they would replace it but i would have to pay $350.so on october 5, 2012, i brought my truck in to all star chevrolet in baton rouge, la.they replaced my dash and sent me on my way.i was a satisfied customer until october 31, 2014.i noticed that my dashboard was cracked again in the exact same place.when i called gm again to tell them what happened, i was told that i would have to pay $350 again in order to get a new dash.i have yet to get it fixed again because i refuse to pay for a repeating issue that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Dashboard crack. On both sides of the the defrost, leading back to air bag cut out and to hood for main instrument panel.
Dashboard cracked badly. This is a known defect issue for 2007-2014 chevy trucks and suvs. The dash developed a crack on it's own and the crack spread along the entire dash. So much that the dash is split and rattles.
Dashboard is cracked at the passenger side airbag and on top of the instrument cluster on driver side. I am concerned for my family's safety if we're in an accident.
Cracks in the dash next to the air bag and in front of driver. If air bag is deployed will cause plastic dash to break apart with possible injury to person or puncture the air bag.
Checked dashboard and gm will not fix it,the air bag is exposed.
There are several large cracks in my dashboard with sharp shards of plastic which have already broken off or are hanging off. These shards and sharp edges present a significant hazard to vehicle occupants if the vehicle were to be involved in a accident. These cracks seem to be related to shoddy craftsmanship/materials used by chevrolet and have gotten worse over the years.
Dashboard cracked.could interfere with airbag deployment.
Typical dashboard cracks at the right upper corner of the airbag panel, the dome over the instrument cluster cracked in 3 places.concerned about the safety of the airbag if/when it is needed.vehicle hit a deer this past week, luckily the airbags did not deploy.
Possible dash fragments if airbag is deployed.dash has pointed plastic fragments falling through dash around airbag area.dash has many complete through cracks around airbag area.if airbag deploys sharp plastic fragments may be projected to passenger.not only if metal fragments from airbag that may hit windshield and then towards passenger or gas pressure from igniter force plastic with possible metal that ultimately causes airbag to hit passenger.
Dashboard cracking in several places
Dash cracked in approximately 2010. Dealership offered to repair it for $350. I did not have it repaired. Now it is cracked extensively like thousands of others owner's vehicles. If the airbag inflates, or an accident we're to occur, small pieces of the dash are likely to become projectiles.
Dash is cracking in multiple places. This would be a hazard if a accident was to happen and the air bags deploy plastic shards would be shot towards any occupants in the vehicle. Also due to the poor construction of the product pieces of the dash are not locked into place like designed because of the dash cracking in spots that are designed for trim pieces to clip in.
Cracked dashboard.chevy will not accept that it is a flaw in design.it is unsafe should the airbag be trigger by a collision.
The dash board on my 2007 avalanche has several cracks and there are more appearing all the time.this has to be something the manufacture should fix for customers.i have never used any cleaning products other than a wet towel to clean my dash.i'm afraid this could affect my air bag deployment and cause injury.
Takata recall and cracking dash around airbag and cluster.
Stability control and traction control not workingcan not find part to repplace as gm has discontinued the part needed steering angle position sensorgm part15886733 i need this part, why is it discontinued?
The dash is cracked in two places, one is right at the corner of the passenger air bag, the second is above the instrument panel. I was told this is happening in all gm trucks 2007-2013. Gm and the dealer will not fix. I am afraid that if the air bags deploy the dash will be shrapnel. And cosmetically it looks horrible and rattles. Gm needs to recall.
My dashboard is cracked in two places
Plastic dash panel cracked in four places over airbag and over instrument cluster creating a high risk for shattering or air bag deployment
Cracking dash above instrument panel and corners of airbag.
Inside doer handle chrome is peeling off leaving a very sharp edge. Gm recalled this item but will not fix mine because of the mileage on my vehicle. There have been 2 injuries related to this problem
Dash board broken many area's.
Passenger airbags concern - my dash, along with friends that own gm trucks from 2007 - 2014, is cracked due to what i am assuming is a weak material.the cracks are around the passenger airbags (and other areas).my concern is that the jagged edges and sharp points created by the cracks could potentially puncture the airbag. I feel that gm should recall the dash covers and replace them with a stronger material to prevent cracking.
Dash board around the instrument panel to the passenger side airbag is cracked. I don't know what caused it to start but it started as a small crack then it began to spread across the dash.
While cleaning the windshield i noticed what appeared to be a crack over the instrument cluster.i opened the door and looked at the dash closer and confirmed it was cracked.later that week i noticed the dash had cracked at the passenger airbag.the crack over the instrument cluster starts at the front edge of the dash and runs about half way back. The crack at the passenger airbag starts at the front seam and runs into the airbag opening.i started research to see if there was a recall and found numerous complaints about this problem.i also found that at this time gm refuses to do anything about it.with the amount of complaints in various areas around the u.s. It doesn't appear to be weather related.there is even a facebook page dedicated to this issue.https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/
My dash cracked and continues to crack around air bags
Dash is just cracked up, with 3 years of having it
Cracked dash. It has been replaced once by the dealer and failed after 3 years. Now it continues to crack at different locations. Dealer said 1 year warranty and $1200 to replace, again.
The dash is cracking bad that where the passenger side air bag has completelycracked off and fell into the inner dash... I can not fix this. Is this a defect that can be fixed through a recall of some sort... Every time i go over a bump or any slight bump in the truck you can hear the plastic crack each time
Takata recall.this recall has been open for over 3 years with no remedy!! please help.my airbag light is always on when care is powered on.
The dashboard on my chevrolet avalanche started cracking about 12 months ago. After doing some research online i have discovered this has become a common issue with many chevrolet avalanche, tahoe, and suburban in the 2007-2011 time frames. I am following what others are doing by filing complaints with nhtsa as i would like this addressed as the crack is in the corner of the air bag which has been recalled via the takata recall.
Dash cracked by air bag had been previously replaced at dealership 1 dash maybe a defect but 2 dash is definetly an issue
Crack in dash around airbag
Dashboard is cracked over the instrument cluster and on both sides of the passenger air bag
With normal or limited use of vehicle, top dashboard cracked in large and significant areas, starting over the driver's wheel within 9 months of brand new, and then cracking at sides of top dash over and appurtenant to passenger air bag compartment, causing extremely loud and distracting rattling, banging and cracking sounds while driving. Full dash needs replacement or parts may fall into engine or into vehicle interior and concern that passenger air bag compartment may be affected because of crack next to that.
The interior door handles keep cutting people because the chrome covering is peeling up and the edges of it are very sharp. This happens when people are getting into or out of the car. I believe this is also a common problem with these vehicles. This vehicle only has about 60k miles on it. Date below is approximate.
Dash cracking
The dash board is cracking.
My dash/instument panel is cracked, to the degree, that it will impede deploying, of passenger air bag.my family, will not be protected, fully, due to large cracks.this vrhicle was/is garaged kept, except at my place of rmployment
The dashboard is severely cracked above the steering column and passenger airbag panel.i am concerned for safety and see in online forums that this is a common problem
The dash board cracks on these vehicles in warm climates causing excessive heat into the electronics of the dash.
The dashboard has cracked around the passanger side airbag. I worry that, if needed, the airbag will not deploy properly or the dash peices wi'll be propelled at the passanger causing them additional injury. This appears to be a common problem with this make/model. Here is a link to a facebook group with thousands of members with the same problem.https://m.facebook.com/groups/251892298253/
Dashboard cracked in multiple locations, without any major accident/no airbag deployment.currently, cracks have been reglued/epoxied.concerned dash is so brittle any airbag deployment will cause the dashboard to separate into pieces and become shrapnel.i'm the original owner of the vehicle.the first crack started approximately in nov 2011.
Dash cracked around passenger side airbag. If airbag is deployed it can possibly snag on the sharp edge and puncture the airbag.
The top of the dashboard had cracked on four different spots on top and two towards the bottom. On of the cracks has gone down to the radio mounting brackets breaking some off.
Multiple cracks in the dashboard.this truck has be garaged 90% of the time when not in use.
Dash board cracking over steering column and around air bag.
Cracked dash above the passenger air bag on my 2009 gmc sierra and my 2007 chevrolet avalanche. Could cause a safety hazard if the airbag was deployed and is not aesthetically pleasing considering the money spent on the vehicle.
The dash has cracked in 3 places. 1 crack on each side of the passenger airbag and 1 crack all the way up the instrument panel.talked to the dealership and they said it is a well known issue and have found thousands of complaints online as well.
Driving at normal speed 55 mph then all of a sudden the stabilizer track and abs light kicked in causing the vechile to decrease in power nearly stopping almost resulting in crash and bodily harm to me example hitting the steering wheel due to sudden stopping
Dash crackedhad to replace rack and pinion, now the steering angle position sensor is not working causing the stabilitrak and traction control to show a code..
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche.while driving approximately 70 mph, the accelerator pedal engaged itself without manual application.this caused the vehicle to dramatically accelerate.the brakes failed to work.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for a diagnostic, but no error codes appeared.the manufacturer has not provided a resolution.the failure and current mileages were 38,000.updated 3/16/09 updated 03/18/09.
The truck would not move; feels as if the truck locked up while driving and came to an abrupt stop.
