Takata recall and the remedy to fix it is unavailable for over a year now.gm keeps telling me that i have a safe vehicle.
Cracked dash. Inherent design fault. Gm not interested in repair or replacement. Potential safety issue if air bag deploys.
Takata recall -- my dashboard is cracked, i fear for all of us that have cracked dashboards around our airbags. The speed at which these airbags deploy could easily turn these broken pieces into shrapnel.
Dash board cracking and falling apart. I removed the dashmat to clean under and seen all the damage. The vehicle was not moving.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the steering and braking ability failed, the radio was inoperative, and the stability control warning indicator illuminated. After five minutes, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failures occurred sporadically for six weeks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (bleecker chevrolet, 1200 cumberland street, dunn, nc 28334) to be diagnosed, but they were not able to replicate the failures. The dealer replaced the battery and the vehicle was repaired.
