I am having the same cracked dash issue every other owner is having with these gm models 2007-2014 gm trucks/suvs.i just noticed the three cracks i have, so i am not sure when exactly they started (within the last few months).

"takata recall" takata corporation ('takata') has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2007-2011 cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext, chevrolet avalanche, silverado 1500, suburban, tahoe, gmc sierra 1500, yukon, yukon xl, and 2009-2011 chevrolet silverado 2500/3500 and gmc sierra 2500/3500 vehicles. This is based upon takata's decision that front passenger airbag inflators it supplied to gm are defective. Gm has submitted to nhtsa a petition for inconsequentiality and nhtsa has granted gm until august 2017 to complete its investigation and to submit all data supporting the petition. If the petition is denied, gm will conduct a recall of the airbag inflators covered by takata's defect information report. For more information visit www.regulations.gov and search for docket no. Nhtsa-2016-0124.this is there remedy to the problem. The necessity of a remedy is dependent upon nhtsa's decision on gm's petition for inconsequentiality. Nothing has happen and i don't want anything to happen. Instead of being reactive, i'm trying to be proactive.
This recall is going on 2 years now and there still has not been a fix identified. How is this acceptable when it directly impacts driver/passenger safety in the event of an accident?
We received notice from tk holdings inc.i called local dealership as notice indicated.way brothers, 183 broad st hawkinsville, georgia was told we could not read as the company is bankrupted and no repairs would be completed.we then called childe chevrolet, 1-800-272-2277, where we purchased the vehicle and was told we would get a letter in the mail when parts to repair our vehicle would come in.neither dealership sounded willing to repair our vehicle as the notice instructed.my husband was embarrassed at way brothers because he stated, " we must didn't read out notice correctly. " our compliant is the dealerships do not want to repair the vehicle.what can we do?thanks.
I noticed that my dash had 2 cracks, one on the driver side and one around the airbag on the passenger side.i believe the one around the air bag to be a safety concern, either the functionality of the airbag or the broken pieces of plastic if the airbag is deployed.

I was involved in motor vehicle accident on the date of nov 21,2013. I was pulling out of a parking lot, i was hit by an on coming mid sized suv traveling at a high rate of speed. The crash caused a large amount of damage to the suv as well as a large amount of damage tomy 2007 avalanche. The impact hit my front drivers corner. My air bags did "not" deploy!!!!there is now a warning light on my dash info center. I got that info from the ins adjuster who called to let me know the truck is going to be repaired. My concern is that why didn't my air bags deploy??? i have been doing some reading and there seams to be a major issue with gm's avalanche models and air bag issues. It is well documented on several web site threw out the internet. I even found some info on service notices posted by gm to dealers. If gm knows this is a safety issue why has there not been a national recall? i was involved in a major accident and did not have the added benefit of the safety devices that are supposed to save my lifei paid for that added safety in the high purchase price of my truck.why didn't they work like they are intended to???? thank the lord it was just me in the truck!!god forbid had my family been in the truck with me, i can't imagine the out come!!! something needs to be done, there is clearly a safety issue with these systems. Gm knows there is a problem but has done nothing to solve it. What will it take??? a death??? i certainly hope not!!!!i suffered some injuries, none internal but i am still recovering, i wonder if they would have been minimized had my air bags worked like they should have! i am thankful that i'm still here for my family and that none of them were with me in the truck during this accident. Please address this issue before some one looses their life or that of a loved one! gm needs to fix this asap!please!!!
My dash is cracked and it reflects the crack on the windshields and causes glare. If the airbag was to deploy the sharp plastic would cut you from the broken dash. This is a dangerous situation. There are thousands of people with the problem and there are groups on facebook with thousands that have this issue. Gm will not repair or replace it.
In 2009 went to my dealer to repair the deadly air bags that were installed into my vehicle; i was told that there were no parts. Again in 2017 went to my dealer to repair the deadly air bags that were installed into my vehicle; i was told that there were no parts. Unacceptable
Accident about 5 years ago and airbags didn't deploy called chevrolet and made nothing of it ,said don't have replacement parts

Onsaturday, 07/12/2008, i was driving approximately45 mph on a paved city road in dry, sunny weather.without warning or an accident,both side curtain airbags deployed suddenly in my 2007 chevrolet avalanche. As advised by onstar and a localchevroletservice dealer, i took the truck into the chevrolet dealership for repair on the following monday morning (07/14/08). On the 1st day of drop-off/damage evaluation and diagnosis, the chevy dealership advised me that general motors had agreed to make repairs to my truck and pay my rental vehicle charges. I inquired about what caused the airbag deployment and was told by my service adviser that he did not know and thatg.m. Had advised him to provide a rental vehicle for me, order repair parts, and send in the damaged parts to g.m. . two days later, the service supervisor contacted me and stated that i have scrapes on my (right-sided) rims/tires and that g.m. Is now refusing to cover this repair and that i am to file an insurance claim. This unwarranted airbag deployment could have easily causeda serious or fataldriving injury. I believe that a safety recall board should investigate this immediately. There was no collision and there is no body damage to my vehicle. I have digital pictures that document this.

The dashboard of my 2007 chevy avalanche has been cracking for years, i did let my dealership know and they said that was not under warranty and they didn't offer me a discount to repair it.my dash has several cracks from the drivers side to the passenger side airbag, a large hole is directly in the middle of the dash where the pieces just vibrated apart exposing the equipment under the dash.the pieces of plastic are a little heavy and sharp i feel the whole dash could break into pieces if the air bag is deployed.i do not have any record of receiving a quote or being denied the repair, but i don't think they will deny that they've been saying it's not covered.and, i'm not sure of the exact date, but i think it started to crack in 2010, now it's kind of a wreck, i've attached a picture of the big hole!

To whom it may concern,i received a notice from gm two years ago identifying my vehicle as affected by the airbag recall and was also informed i would be notified when my local dealership would be able to make repairs. I have called my local dealership since receiving the notice and i am always told that there are no parts and i will be notified when repair is available. My complaint is that i have no idea when, if ever, gm plans to repair my vehicles airbags. I feel that gm is taking it's time in hope that affected vehicles age out and are no longer on the road. What are my options of having my vehicle repaired by gm?

Takata recall not resolved in a timely manner. Received recall in 2016 and have yet to resolve the issue. I have called chervrolet dealerships and they state a repair is unavailable at the time.
Defective dashboard deck area surrounding passenger airbag is heavily cracked with sharp edges which pose a hazard if airbag is deployed. Sharp dashboard crack edges on drivers side and passenger side may be struck by driver or passenger in an accident or may become air born resulting in sever injury and/or blindness in an accident situation.

I called again today, 2/20/29 about the same issue.both times i have been told they do not have any parts to correct the problem. When i went to register my vehicle for the upcoming renewal period maryland dmv wrote "please contact your local manufacturersauthorized dealership to resolve at no cost."so, i am pretty confused as what to do.it had been exactly 2 years since my first notice of this problem and i am still being given the same answer while i am also still being told to contact a dealership to get this repaired. "takata recall" it is unacceptable that i cannot get my airbags replaced under this recall. Gm needs to make this right even if it means using airbags from a different manufacturer.

Cracked dashboard on passenger side where airbag is fitted. Upper lefthand side of airbag.traction control/stabilitrac system: service indicator warnings activate, switches from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive high even though selector is in 2wd mode.the first occurrence of this was at 70k miles, then again at 90k.then again at 97k the transmission was damaged and needed to be replaced. Again at 101k miles the ringgear in the rear axel was destroyed. Rear axel was replaced. Fifth time for those counting,116k miles service stabilitrac and service traction control warnings, switching from 2wd to 4wd high while moving, while parked, selector in 2wd position with someone at the wheel or cab empty.evaporative emission control warning.check engine light on, code comes back to eec. Indicating a leak in the return line.the first time this was replaced at 70k miles, this is the second time.and no it is not the gas cap being loose or needing replaced.the first time there was "water in the connector"(yeah sure).

The dashboard has large cracks both in front of the instrument panel and around the airbag. This exact same problem has been reported by more than 4,000 gm truck owners. The cracking around the airbag are especially concerning, and likely pose a significant safety risk were the airbags to deploy. Gm is apparently aware of this defect and fails to take responsibility for correcting the problem.
After a weekend of camping (rv) my avalanche would not start, battery less than one year old.the rpm $ mph were moving up & down, clicking sounds were coming from the front seat arm rests, no power to the windows & locks. Vehicle was parked & both the avalanche & rv had to be towed.diagnose-u0140 loss of communication of bcm, defective body control module, replaced control module.
10/21/09- went out to start my 07 avalanche lt3 and there was no power to anything. Aaa service was called and check the battery and it had 4.6 amps. After attempting to charge battery it still would not start. The technician began checking fuses and removed and replaced the same starter relay switch and then it started.

2007 chevy avalanche i believe should be included in this recall #1: 2004-2012 chevrolet malibu, 2004-2007 chevrolet malibu maxx, 2005-2010 pontiac g6, 2007-2010 saturn aura. The vehicle, when scanned is producing an error code ofp0573- cruise control/brake switch a circuit. As a result of this error the functionality of my cruise control is jeopardized, rendering the vehicles cruise control at sometimes useless, not functional or worse disengaging without warrant causing a safety concern while driving.
Truck failed to start due to dead battery after sitting for less than 24 hrs.since purchase 5/07 it has occurred 6 times--7 if you count the day of purchase.truck is dead again today and is at the dealership (12/6/08). Have a 2007 avalanche ltz with everything in it.had the same problem letting it set for extended period of time and having battery dead when going to start same.jumped it and started fine.i can hear the computer working when vehicle is shut off and believe this is why.need to start same often and run or put a battery charger on same solar to keep from happening.dealers say they can find no reason for it.

The speedometer is sporadically malfunctioning.it has happened to me three times and sometime the speedometer will register as high as 30 mph when i am stopped or show about 70 when i am doing about 40.then after a day or two it will start to work again.i see where many others have filed a complaint.
Electrical problems, battery going dead, manufacturer will not say what is causing problem because they cannot find what is causing it. Been in service 30 days and over 7 times for the same problem. Will not step up to the plate and repurchase the vehicle.
The linear position of doors are irregular,the front fender is beyond usual meet. The plastic structure of the back isnot in alignment with the body.the rear-view mirror vibrates which is a hazard at night,anyone can mistake the flickering as the cars changing lanes when not the case. Since the doors are not properly aligned the wind,dirt and mist of water, bypasses the weather strip. There isoverspray on black exterior paint. Since it was up on a ramp the dealer said the only way i could see the inside or test drive was if i got pre-qualified ,that ended up been my sales contract! when the truck was lowered down they gave me the keys at 7pm which was dark in the fall, so it was very difficult to distinguish. Repairs to the fuel pump, distortion of the windshield, the body defects,rear-view mirror, loud squealing brakes,the handles of the doorsthat has peeled and the steering wheels inner faces has also peeled. The stabilizer light came on when my fuel pump wentout and since then it does not stabilize the chassis when in contact with natural hazards such as rain, sand,s now and any type ofuneven terrain. My tire pressure light appears periodically, although my tires are inflated with nitrogen. My right tail-lights linear position is irregular, but normal on the left side.my battery has gone dead on my once for no apparent reason. My gas cap indicator light also comes on periodically and it has been replaced a couple of time. My passenger front doors frame has a malformation where it makes the weather strip seem un even or falling off. A problem that still can'tbe repaired is the carpet that isn't fitted and is loose.unfortuneately, its very a attractive truck, but the experience has been a nightmare that i still cannot awake from. I want gm to acknowledge the occurring problem & buyback the truck. Complaints began 09/01/06 and has been in the shop for extensive repairs 9 times & spent 60days & counting.

This vehicle has had oil consumption problems since purchased. It runs out of oil 1500 miles after an oil change. Several consumer complaints have proved this is a very common problem and suggested reporting it to the epa. My truck now needs a new engine because of this common defect with the afm and bad lifters in the 2007 chevrolet avalanches. It is completely abnormal for an engine to burn this much oil into the environment. Not to mention the consumers who are now being forced to replace engines due to this problem. It needs to be fixed.

Vehicle used way too much oil. Oil consumption was extreme. Began to hear a ticking sound, while driving on expressway the lite up like a christmas tree. And smoke began to billow out the exhaust. Took it to dealer said i needed a new engine. Reading posts on line everyone is complaining of same issue. This should be remedied by manufacturer. Now car is sitting waiting to get an engine
It started with a ticking noise and when i took it for service they said that it was my lifters and to replace them it would cost 5-6 thousand, and that i might as well replace the engine.i later find out that this is common with all the 07 but the manufactory want recall or assist with replacement cost.
This vehicle has had oil consumption problems since purchased. It runs out of oil 1500 miles after an oil change. Several consumer complaints have proved this is a very common problem and suggested reporting it to the epa. My truck now needs a new engine because of this common defect with the afm and bad lifters in the 2007 chevrolet avalanches. It is completely abnormal for an engine to burn this much oil into the environment. Not to mention the consumers who are now being forced to replace engines due to this problem. It needs to be fixed.

The vehicle, from the time it was new, had usually consumed about 0.5 quarts of oil each oil change, which i would consider normal. This condition began to worsen at approximately 60,000 miles to about 1.0 quarts per oil change.this condition continued to worsen, and at approximately 85,000 miles began to consume 1 quart of oil each 1,500 miles in city driving, and closer to 1,000 miles with significant highway driving.i contacted the dealership regarding this issue, and they replied that this amount of oil consumption would be considered normal.between 85,000 and 135,000 miles i have replaced spark plugs twice.in each instance the plugs were fouled and wet with oil.the ignition coils were replaced on multiple cylinders at the time of the first spark plug change.as compared to the owners manual, the spark plugs should only require service every 100,000 miles.i have since contacted the dealership regarding this issue, and they continue to reply that the amount of oil consumption i experience is normal.i have owned more than 10 vehicles over the course of +30 years and never had an engine consume oil at this rate.this amount of use is neither normal nor good for the environment.

Stereo volume cuts down randomly when lessoning to local stations and speed controlled volume turned off on single disc and 6-disc changer systems. This problem does not happen on base model stereos. Chevy says that the new systems pickup three signals of a station and plays the strongest one. The problem is that does not always play the strongest one and switched in the middle of songs causing the volume drop. There has been several complains, but chevy is not currently planning on fixing the problem. They say the customer has to live with it.

The linear position of doors are irregular,the front fender is beyond usual meet. The plastic structure of the back isnot in alignment with the body.the rear-view mirror vibrates which is a hazard at night,anyone can mistake the flickering as the cars changing lanes when not the case. Since the doors are not properly aligned the wind,dirt and mist of water, bypasses the weather strip. There isoverspray on black exterior paint. Since it was up on a ramp the dealer said the only way i could see the inside or test drive was if i got pre-qualified ,that ended up been my sales contract! when the truck was lowered down they gave me the keys at 7pm which was dark in the fall, so it was very difficult to distinguish. Repairs to the fuel pump, distortion of the windshield, the body defects,rear-view mirror, loud squealing brakes,the handles of the doorsthat has peeled and the steering wheels inner faces has also peeled. The stabilizer light came on when my fuel pump wentout and since then it does not stabilize the chassis when in contact with natural hazards such as rain, sand,s now and any type ofuneven terrain. My tire pressure light appears periodically, although my tires are inflated with nitrogen. My right tail-lights linear position is irregular, but normal on the left side.my battery has gone dead on my once for no apparent reason. My gas cap indicator light also comes on periodically and it has been replaced a couple of time. My passenger front doors frame has a malformation where it makes the weather strip seem un even or falling off. A problem that still can'tbe repaired is the carpet that isn't fitted and is loose.unfortuneately, its very a attractive truck, but the experience has been a nightmare that i still cannot awake from. I want gm to acknowledge the occurring problem & buyback the truck. Complaints began 09/01/06 and has been in the shop for extensive repairs 9 times & spent 60days & counting.

Transmission failed on acceleration from stop.brought to chevrolet dealer who told me "the 1st and 2nd gear came apart internally" and that a complete rebuild was necessary.no prior indications of transmission problems (i.e. Slipping, noise, etc...).will cost me over $3000 to repair.searching on line, i found several other owners complaining about the same problem with less that 90000 miles on their vehicles.

While driving on the highway about 70-75 miles a hour, passing another vehicle, the passing gear engaged, then there was a loss of power to the vehicle.once the truck got under 40 mph you have no drive gear only 1,2, or 3rd gear will get you moving. Vehicle lost 4th gear.
Complete transmission failure at 27,000 miles. Old part referenced as sun gear or sprag gear breakage between 4-wheel driver transfer case and transmission. Part failed under acceleration nearly causing a crash. Transmission would not engage gears except park. Vehicle could not move under its own power.part is under back order and will take an unknown amount of time to fix. Other owners are experiencing the same problem around the same mileage. When ignition is engaged to start vehicle a loud "bang" occurs in the transmission and vehicle jumps in reverse for a split second. Problem is intermittent and continues to occur.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet avalanche 1500.while driving 65 mph, the contact noticed white and black smoke through the rear view mirror.the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was applied.the vehicle was towing a trailer at the time of the failure.the contact was able to stop the vehicle using the electric brake controller for the trailer.he noticed fluid dripping from the rear axle, which then caught fire.the fire department extinguished the fire.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they determined that a defective pinion seal caused the failure, however, the fire department determined that the failure was caused by synthetic rear axle fluid.the fire damaged the fuel tank, trailer, tailgate and driver side rear quarter panel of the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 12,832.updated 01-16-08.the consumer stated the rear axle caught on fire. Updated 10/25/2006 - adjustment of the rear head rest could not be made according to the owner's manual.when raising the head rests to their maximum position they do not lock in place.any pressure from the passenger's head caused the rest to drop to it's lowest position, causing the passenger's head to hit the rear window.

The dash board in 2007 avalanche vehicles is prone to cracking. In fact gm has known about this defect in the materials that were used to mold the dash board and has not issued a recall. Replacement is left up to the vehicle owner and costs in excess of $500 to repair. Under the circumstances gm should have issued a recall and replaced the dash board at no additional charge to the customer.
I noticed that my dash had 2 cracks, one on the driver side and one around the airbag on the passenger side.i believe the one around the air bag to be a safety concern, either the functionality of the airbag or the broken pieces of plastic if the airbag is deployed.

My dash has cracked in the same place as others have reported. The crack starts at the upper left corner of the air bag lid and continues up the dash to the vent opening. The air bag could possibly rip if it were to catch on the sharp edge that is exposed.

Our new 2007 chevrolet avalanche was involved in a major accident (not our fault) and it sustained frame damage.after using a gm dealer for repairs to our vehicle and returning it three times it still was returned to us in an unsafe condition which put our family in a potentially position which could of caused another crash and injury or death. We decided to get our vehicle put on another frame machine for another opinion.the measurements were reported to be not within specifications and measure as follows. The frame has visible damage.the front section of the frame is swayed to the right.just behind the front bumper mounts the frame rails are swayed 12mm. To the right.at the control arm mounting points, the frame is also swayed 15mm to the right.it was recommended to re-frame this vehicle. We have been battling with our insurance company and roger dean chevy with several certified letters about putting our family in an unsafe position and they disregard our position and blame each. This leaves ourselves and the public in a situations which could cause a crash or worse if we choose to drive this vehicle with these defects. I can not believe a gm repair facility could get away with such repairs.not only once, twice, but three times we have brought this issue to their attention to no avail. Please look into their repairs and the vehicles they send out on our streets to keep the public safe.

Dashboard is cracked in several places near the passenger airbag and instrument cluster.it may eventually crack enough that big pieces will pop loose and chunks of my dash will be gone.abs glue is the only thing that works to join the seams together to stop the dash from shaking and making tons of noise.the shaking likely caused the cracks to grow more also prior to me finally through lots of trial and error successfully gluing it.hopefully it will keep the current crack from growing.but only time will tell.and new ones will likely appear if the old ones do not spread.also, the air vent cover has broken in a long crack, and even worse most of the tabs that hold it down have broken off.thus, it sticks up looking ugly and rattles.this too is likely to break up more from all the rattling.

Dash pad has cracked badly and rattles terribly on bumpy roads.this problem could release shards of plastic at the occupants in the event of air bag deployment.

The dashboard of my 2007 chevy avalanche has been cracking for years, i did let my dealership know and they said that was not under warranty and they didn't offer me a discount to repair it.my dash has several cracks from the drivers side to the passenger side airbag, a large hole is directly in the middle of the dash where the pieces just vibrated apart exposing the equipment under the dash.the pieces of plastic are a little heavy and sharp i feel the whole dash could break into pieces if the air bag is deployed.i do not have any record of receiving a quote or being denied the repair, but i don't think they will deny that they've been saying it's not covered.and, i'm not sure of the exact date, but i think it started to crack in 2010, now it's kind of a wreck, i've attached a picture of the big hole!
Defective dashboard deck area surrounding passenger airbag is heavily cracked with sharp edges which pose a hazard if airbag is deployed. Sharp dashboard crack edges on drivers side and passenger side may be struck by driver or passenger in an accident or may become air born resulting in sever injury and/or blindness in an accident situation.

The dashboard has large cracks both in front of the instrument panel and around the airbag. This exact same problem has been reported by more than 4,000 gm truck owners. Traveling on freeway at approx 55 mph with cruise control engaged.accelerated to pass truck, when let off the accelerator my truck went into passing gear and accelerated rapidly to 80+mph.applied brake and attempted to disengage cruise control.neither worked.place vehicle in neutral and rpms went to approx 6500 rpm, then motor shut off. Coasted to side should.police was behind me and wrote me a ticket for 80 mph.officer was not interested in listening to problems i had encountered. Wrote me a ticket for $728.93. Approx 1.5 hours later i was returning home and tried cruise control.it immediately accelerated into passing gear and would not disengage.i put the truck into neutral and rpms went to over 6000rpm and shut off motor.depressing brake peddle would not disengage cruise control.stopped on side restarted truck and disengaged cruise control.i was successful on the disengage.i did not use the cruise control any more and reported issue to chevrolet dealer.two weeks later,i was parked in front of a store.when i started the truck and put intro reverse, the truck accelerated at high rate.applied brake and shut the engine off.i removed the cruise control/rear camera fuse.it did not disable the cruise control.i have not driven the truck since.waiting for appointment with local dealer to have investigated.
2007 chevy avalanche i believe should be included in this recall #1: 2004-2012 chevrolet malibu, 2004-2007 chevrolet malibu maxx, 2005-2010 pontiac g6, 2007-2010 saturn aura. The vehicle, when scanned is producing an error code ofp0573- cruise control/brake switch a circuit. As a result of this error the functionality of my cruise control is jeopardized, rendering the vehicles cruise control at sometimes useless, not functional or worse disengaging without warrant causing a safety concern while driving.
My dash is cracked and it reflects the crack on the windshields and causes glare. If the airbag was to deploy the sharp plastic would cut you from the broken dash. This is a dangerous situation. There are thousands of people with the problem and there are groups on facebook with thousands that have this issue. Gm will not repair or replace it.

The linear position of doors are irregular,the front fender is beyond usual meet. The plastic structure of the back isnot in alignment with the body.the rear-view mirror vibrates which is a hazard at night,anyone can mistake the flickering as the cars changing lanes when not the case. Since the doors are not properly aligned the wind,dirt and mist of water, bypasses the weather strip. There isoverspray on black exterior paint. Since it was up on a ramp the dealer said the only way i could see the inside or test drive was if i got pre-qualified ,that ended up been my sales contract! when the truck was lowered down they gave me the keys at 7pm which was dark in the fall, so it was very difficult to distinguish. Repairs to the fuel pump, distortion of the windshield, the body defects,rear-view mirror, loud squealing brakes,the handles of the doorsthat has peeled and the steering wheels inner faces has also peeled. The stabilizer light came on when my fuel pump wentout and since then it does not stabilize the chassis when in contact with natural hazards such as rain, sand,s now and any type ofuneven terrain. My tire pressure light appears periodically, although my tires are inflated with nitrogen. My right tail-lights linear position is irregular, but normal on the left side.my battery has gone dead on my once for no apparent reason. My gas cap indicator light also comes on periodically and it has been replaced a couple of time. My passenger front doors frame has a malformation where it makes the weather strip seem un even or falling off. A problem that still can'tbe repaired is the carpet that isn't fitted and is loose.unfortuneately, its very a attractive truck, but the experience has been a nightmare that i still cannot awake from. I want gm to acknowledge the occurring problem & buyback the truck. Complaints began 09/01/06 and has been in the shop for extensive repairs 9 times & spent 60days & counting.
