Recently my 2002 chevrolet avalanche has begun to shut off while driving which causes the vehicle to lose power. Another important safety issue, the brakes began to press all the way to the floor while braking. On august 3, 2011 while my son was driving the vehicle approaching a stop light, he pressed the brakes which went to the floor and rear ended vehicle in front that was making a turn. The front bumper is now damaged ( t-boned) and the air bags did not deploy. I'm not very pleased that i never received any notices about the braking system. I can't afford to make monthly payments and still have to pay costly maintenance fees. I can not afford to jeopardize my life and my family, especially my granddaughter. Something has to be done about these safety issues: braking, cutting off while driving and no deployed air bags.

Takata airbag deployed and impacted accident.. My vehicle was moving when i was hit and airbag deployed.i've since had 2 unsuccessful back surgeries and i continue unceasingly to receive medical treatment.i am disable retired.there is a washington dc police report, pictures, insurance claim paperwork, investigation etc.there is a box of paperwork.to much to upload, but i can gather the info and forward to an address provided to me.this website stated do not include personal information so my email address is [xxx] for future. Reference..i just happen to see a commercial on tv a few minutes ago about the airbags so i have to gather some requested info. Like the exact date.i know it was in 2010, so i'm simply putting in a date filler until i can look up the exact date.. I believe my first surgery was in september of the same year. Do i need to contact an attorney or do i need to contact takata? i don't know what to do next.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Son hit a tree head on totaled avalanche front end air bag did not deploywhy??????????

The contact owned a 2002 chevrolet avalanche. The contact's son was driving at an unknown rate of speed when his vehicle collided with a guardrail. As a result of the impact, the vehicle made a tailspin and veered the vehicle into the opposite lane of traffic. The contact's son's vehicle made impact with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The air bags did not deploy during the incident. The contact's son sustained injuries to his head and back and received medical attention at the scene. The contact's son was transported to a where he was treated for glass removal from his head and back. The driver of the other vehicle also sustained injuries resulting from the collision. The other driver was taken to the same hospital for treatment, however, the injuries were unknown. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene and taken to a tow yard. The vehicle was destroyed due to the damage from the accident. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

About 18 months ago the airbag warning light in my 2002 avalanche illuminated and has remained on since.i have the avalanche in the shop for other work and asked that they check the cause of the steady airbag warning light. The diagnosis is that the electrical contact system within the steering wheel is inop and that all airbags in the vehicle will not deploy. Cost of replacement part(s) is about $700.as far as i know at the moment the impact sensors are functional.

The contact owned a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500.the contact stated that the driver ran a red light and another vehicle crashed into the driver side door of the contact's vehicle. None of the four air bags deployed. The vehicle was destroyed.the police responded and a report was available.the vehicle was in the possession of the contact's insurance company. The manufacturer was contacted and the contact was awaiting a response.the failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The vehicles governor shut the vehicle off at 97mph while going around a corner which made the steering wheel lock up and made the brakes not work. Two people where life flighted to hospitals with various injuries... No air bags deployed at all... The first impact in the accident was to the side of the vehicle. Injuries sustained included multiple fractures of the spine of the driver from being ejected almost 40 feet passed where the truck had come to a rest. The debris path was over 150 ft. Long and the truck left the road because it could not turn then struck a stop sign and totally uprooted the stop sign including the cement cinder block under the ground which sent the truck in a death roll. Then the truck continued forward into a utility poles guide wire which dropped the pole on top of the truck as well as the wires. Then continued forward some more in which it came to a rest against a cedar tree.

2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. Ignition switch is shorting out, have to jiggle key to start. When driving tuck looses power and shuts off loosing all power steering and all power brakes. Had to muscle truck to shoulder of roadway and restart. Does this intermittently without warning. This is very dangerous situation.

The "cargo lamp on" indicator in the message area of the driver instrument panel is displayed when any of the following are activated;both overhead lights in the front overhead console, the three garage door/gate buttons(home link), both visor mirror lights, and both front door courtesy lights(the ones that come on when the door is opened).all of these also no longer turn on the appropriate lights when they are triggered.in addition, the sun roof/moon roof open/close button no longer works either, on the 06/25/06 it triggered the "cargo light on" display but as of the 06/27/06 it does nothing.my concerns are that the computer may be corrupt or malfunctioning, which could lead to failures, activations, or disabling of systems such as fuel injection, brake control, steering, traction control, acceleration, fuel ratios, timing, 4 wheel/2 wheel drive conversion, brake lights, turning lights, headlights, or electrical fire, or wiring that could cause electrical fire also.

The dash light stays on constantly showing the security light, gas light and battery light flashing. When you shut the truck off it still shows the yellow security light and it never goes off and if you leave it sitting for 1 or 2 days without driving it makes the battery go dead.

I was driving at night and the low beam lights stopped working. I change the fuses, low beam lights, daytime running light relay, and headlight relay and the low beam light still doesn't work.

The four wheel drive service lamp frequently illuminates at different speeds and stays on until the truck is restarted, then the lamp will stay off for days ,then come back on for no reason, when the truck is scanned no codes are returned, the truck seems to drive fine, but the problem is very annoying.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to start. The contact stated that the vehicle eventually started up after waiting for a while. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the fuel pump, battery, and starter were changed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the starter was replaced again; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

My 2002 chevy avalanche 1500,2wd had the same problem. The truck stalled and then shut off while i was driving on the freeway. I replaced the crank positioning sensor and it works well now...but it was very dangerous when it shut off,i almost caused a huge accident.

Dash light don't work. Dimmer switch very hot to the touch.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While operating the vehicle, the low beam headlights suddenly shut off. When the contact tapped the fuse box located under the hood, the headlights turned back on and illuminated normally. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (bob brown chevrolet in ervingdale, ia) were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

While driving at 65 on the freeway truck began to lose power and when i stepped on gas it didn't respond. Had to keep letting foot off and back on to get it to go. Pulled over to the shoulder turned truck off and it ran good for about 3 minutes and it repeated itself. When engine gets hot the truck loses power and you have to shut it off and repeat this step until you get to where you gotta go. No codes, no warning no nothing. Truck also shuts off while driving. Replaced fuel pump, filter, cleaned maf and throttle body replaced crank shaft sensor and it still does this.

Engine stall with loss of steering and brakes when turning from tower oaks st onto jones road, a busy 4 lane road.car stopped in oncoming lane on jones road, just avoiding a head on collision. Crankshaft sensor failure. Had car towed to dealer who infomed me that there was no recall on the crankshaft sensor of the chevrolete avalanchepaid dealer $540. For cransshaft sensor replacement.have not had a stalling problem sence replacing the cranshaft sensor.this is a very dangerous situation and can cause severe accidents as the loss of steering and brakes is critical.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle decelerated independently and the reduced engine power, service engine, and traction assist indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to don hewlett chevrolet buick (7601 n interstate hwy 35, georgetown, tx 78626) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to don hewlett chevrolet where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the sensors failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred once again. The vehicle was taken to autonation chevrolet laurel (500 washington blvd, laurel, md 20707) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be rebuilt, the tac module needed to be replaced, and the intake gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not assist. The contact was transferred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

Well, when driving my 2002 chevy avalanche truck the reduce engine light cuts on. In addition, my truck starts to slow down and reduce speed. Sometimes on the interstate while i'm driving also. I've been to twogm dealership and paid money to have it service. As a result, they were charging me a lot of money, but never fixing the problem. It's very dangerous when driving sometime, so i been pulling over and resetting the computer to drive. I've read that there's recalls on some gm truck like mines. Also, i brought it to the gm service department too.

Vehicle won't start, engine dieswhile driving.

-the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500.the vehicle began to stall while driving 40 mph and lost power.the warning indicator lightsilluminated while the vehicle was stalling.the contact was unable to restart the vehicle and towed it to his home.the dealer stated that theywere aware of the failure, w3hichfailure is related to a gas line sensor. The dealer did notknow how long it will take to repair the vehicle.also, the dealer stated that the sensorwas in an awkward place and if it broke they were notresponsible , and required him to sign a waiver.the current and failure mileage were 76000.

I was driving at night and the low beam lights stopped working. I change the fuses, low beam lights, daytime running light relay, and headlight relay and the low beam light still doesn't work.

While driving thru a parking lot after picking up my lunch, the food began to fall which i took my eyes off driving to catch it. When i looked up i saw light pole in front of me and when i pushed my brakes, it felt like the pedal went straight to the floor. Its like i pushed so hard i overpowered the system. When i backed away from the pole the brakes felt fine. I hit the pole which in turn caused cosmetic damage along with breaking the steering box because the tire hit the cement base. Also we found the brake fluid level sensor had broken at the fluid reservoir.

Dash light don't work. Dimmer switch very hot to the touch.

Head lamps were very dim and there is a white film on the inside of them, making it very difficult for night time driving. Sabersport is the company who manufactures them, but when contacted their phone # has been disconnected. The # is 1 909 598 7589.

2002 chevrolet avalanche fuel pump has quit for the third time in 3 years. Original pump failed at 110,00 miles the next 2 delphi replacements each lasted about 10,000.

The contact has a 2002 cheverlot avalache. The contact was driving 25 mph when the failure happened. The fuel pump went out and the vehicle stalled. This is the only time this happened. The failure and current mileage was 84000.updated 2/22/10updated 07/06/10.

Rupture of plastic-like fuel lines above the gas tank.

Excessive rusting of the frame, brake lines, transmission lines, and fuel lines. The brake, transmission and fuel lines rusted completely out and required a full replacement. The frame has extensive rust and has deteriorated well beyond the frame of my 2003 camaro z28 which is 9 years older! the truck has less than 80k and has been well maintained, so there is no explanation for the amount and level of rust, except that there were inferior metals and manufacturing materials used in its construction.

My 02 avalanche has had all the fuel, em brake, wheel hub while husband was stopping at light when the top caliper bolt came out wedging the caliper between the wheel and bolt this stopped the truck sounded like gun fire and the rest end went 8 ft into the air. Air bag not deployed. Cost days pays and $ new bolt to get back on road, no injury. Plus drvr fr axle pass too. 2nd tranny only 4yrs apart has failed again with my 6 grkids on my 56th b.d. In tx 105 * heat index. It took 4 hours to get home having to stop every 10 min for 20 min because it was overheating. My grkids were heat exhausted as was i. I have had to replace the short column in my steering and i have been jiggling the key to start it for appx 8 years now.2 fuel pumps in less than a year the last one was stuck for 3 hours at gas station w/3 grkids while my d-n-law was waiting to meet me 2 hours from her home.i think that covers most of the investigations and complaints and not one did chevy pay for. I didn't bother asking my husband has 2500 school hours in auto mechanic repair. My trim is faded and have to oil it to keep it from cracking.the truck still drives excellent but you people are who i'm going to sue if something catastrophic happens in that truck for your lackadaisical attitude in enforcing the safety laws. How much kick back do you receive from the car companies to not recall their cars and trucks?don't be shocked it is obvious big money dictates what gets recalled.people die for the greed of others and that is pathetic.if you enforced the safety laws stricter there would not be people dying or badly mft'd vehicles causing wrecks scaring people causing ptss. I think this agency is all about making people think you do something when you don't, at least not until 600million cars have to be recalled. 2 should be enough. 1 a repair 2 not a coincidence.thank you, [xxx]all while drivinginformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2002 chevrolet avalancherear tailgate latch/lock assembly. Sharp edges onunknown hook /barb design snagging clothing/ripping holes in fabric and on several occasions causing lacerations and cuts on abdominal areas, this occurs when i reach over from the end to retrieve payload from the cargo bay.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. The contact stated the hood latch release was rusted. The dealer advised the rust was not severe enough where they would take any liability for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

Hood metal around the latch is rotting.and there is delamation of the metal.

- the contact stated thatthe 2002 chevrolet avalanche had parking brake shoe. Problems.the contact stated that the rear shieldcameoff and had exposed the parking brake shield to the elements.the emergency brake pad wore out, and the emergency brake didn't work. Thecontact replaced all of the brakes in the vehicle. The contact had the emergency brake adjusted, and the service mechanic stated that this is not common with the avalanche vehicles.

Failure was/is inevitable. Parking brake shoes are poorly secured, they are allowed to float inside of hat of rotor.drivers side has the retaining clip oriented (upside down) where the floating brake shoe is kept in contact with hat area of rotor by gravity at all times.what is worse, is that the area of the shoe having no pad is in contact. This caused the metallic portion of the shoe to grind over a 1/4" into hat area of rotor.bought new and after 1 month, emergency brakes failed, had to rely on transmission in park.dealership said i must use emergency brakes frequently to keep adjusted...not true, there is no adjustment w/o pulling rotor off.

2002 chevy avalanche, parking brake wears out and fail with out being used.replaced under warranty and it failed again within 3 months, has not worked since.i feel my safety is at risk, but cannot afford to repair every 3 months.

I was refused an annual inspection because of no emergency brake. I was then informed that 2002 series of chevrolet truck had a common problem with emergency brake failure. I was then told chevrolet did a silent recall on trucks with a standard transmission and paid for the repairs. However i have an automatic transmission and the repairs cost $525.88. Also i was told to set the brake to insure that it wouldn't fail in the future. Nothing in owners manual tells you to set em.brake so it wouldn't wear out by not being set in order to keep it aligned to prevent wear.

Emergency brakes continue to fail although rarely used. Repairs never last. Itis impossible to repair a design flaw.nhtsa is just like the sec in that they have dropped the ball on this one.this is a very, very common failure on the avalanche. The emergency brake is now called a parking brake on the complaint form and most people stop at "brake, hydraulic" instead of scrolling further down. The form should have the selection---"brake,emergency" , but it doesn't.therefore , there is no emergency.

2002 chevy avalanche parking/emergency brake issue. Its inspection sticker time again and for the 7th year in a row i am dumping my wallet into the e brake. I understand stuff needs to be replaced over time but this is not right. This year all new cables and new adjustment screw kit....and behold still no holding power need new shoes again. This for something that is never needed in practical sense.

Alot of squeezing in parking brakes.parking brakes didn't work, check breaks, rt. Brake pad burnt out.release system doesn't release. Had to remove pads.i am currently driving around w/o emergency brake ring pads.

General motors service bulletin #02-05-26-002 2002-2003 chevrolet avalanche 1500 series modelsi have this problem and gm or the dealership tells me 'tough luck'this is !@#$% and they need to address this parking brake issue!!! every repair person i take to knows about this issue so it's not something obscure!!

The parking brake on my 2002 avalanche has corroded. The chevy dealership wants $500.00 to fix it. Gm has changed the parts, which requires a complete change of the entire parking brake system. This is a defect that should have been recalled.

Parking brake failure - does not work - due to premature corrosion technician at dealer stated this is a common problem with the avalanche.the cost to repair the parking brake and all the affected parts is approx. $ 600.00.technician stated this should be a recalled item.

Parking brake doesn't work.

At the end of december, we were traveling down the highway at approximately 55 mph. I went to apply my brakes and the pedal went completely to the floor. I realized that i had no brakes. I down shifted and coasted to the nearest garage. After a thorough investigation, the mechanic informed me that the entire brake system needed replaced. At a hefty price, i replaced it all. The old parts are not available.

The parking brake has not worked since 2003 on my 2002 avalanche which has 53000 miles on it .had it checked out and could not find the cause.

My emergency brake failed almost causing my car to roll into traffic. The emergency brake should be there when you need it.

Parking brake fails to hold vehicle in any attitude.system is poorly designed and is typical of gm suvs and light trucks.system design and execution is a safety hazard.

Front differential mechanism that is responsible for 4wd of the vehicle has chronically malfunctioned despite 2 repairs while under warranty by lindsay chevy in woodbridge va. The mechanism started to show signs of problems at 7000 miles. Now the truck has 85000 miles and the mechanism has failed.

Avalanche 4wd selectors started flashing and would not shift out of 4l.stopped and turned off vehicle. Restarted and service 4wd light lit.had no forward or reverse gears. Had to have it towed.dealer said the encoder motor failed.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500.the contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate properly when the accelerator pedal was depressed.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the entire transmission needed to be replaced at the cost of $2,000.the contact replaced the vehicle.the failure mileage was 83,000 and current mileage was 167,000.

Service 4x light comes on almost everytime drivenroaring in drivetrain with relation to speed of truckunderstand this could be workmanship problem.

The contact owns a 2002 chevy avalanche 1500. The contact stated that the driver's side seat belt failed. The contact replaced the driver side seatbelt twice. The failure mileage was not available.

Brake lines corroded

I was driving in the grass group carrying chairs to a campfire on the other side of the field with boys riding in the bed of my truck when i hit my brakes and they went to the floor. It scared me because there were boys walking in front of me. The truck did stop but not as quickly as i wanted it to. I am very glad no one was hurt.the next morning i looked under the truck and the long brake line that runs from the front to the rear of the truck had rusted and ruptured leaking out all of the fluid.

Turning into my driveway, slowing down, applying brakes, the pedal went to the floor, no resistance, park brake didn't ,help almost hit my garage, steered toward garden landscape ties, that stopped me, looked under truck, large puddle of brake fluid dripping , both brake lines from the master cylinder to the abs were rusted badly and dripping.

I was parked in my drive way, when i released my parking brakes and began to take off. When i applied my brake pedal, i heard a small bursting sound and my pedal went to the floor board of the truck. Luckily i wasn't driving at a faster speed.i pulled the truck over to the side of the road. I looked back onto the pavement. I saw a puddle of brake fluid.i immediately entered the truck and tried to press the brake pedal and it hit the floor, which meant i had no brakes to drive my vehicle. It was a scary to think i could have been driving down the highway with my wife and kids in the truck.i lifted my truck on the rear and perform an inspection. I noticed the black rubber hose had a split in it and the other brake lines were severely corroded.i bought a new rubber and installed it (banjo union-in the centerrear) and then began to try pressing the brakes again to see if the problem was solve.next, i saw more fluid dripping out of driver side metal brake line. I couldn't believe it!!i still could not drive my truck because the rusted driver side brake line had a hole.i wish the dealership tech would have brought this to my attention when i had my brakes and rotors installed. Very dangerous situation!!after reading multiple post on various websites about gm position regarding the rusted lines, i am not going to buy another gm vehicle if i decide to trade this one.

At slow speeds, the abs comes on without warning on dry pavement, so this is not a result of a slippery road surface.i have almost hit several things/cars. There was a previous recall for this exact issue (050068a), but the dealer says that the recall repair was already done and they will not perform the repair again.i can understand the dealer's position if this were not the result of a recall, but this seems to be an ongoing issue. The recall repair work was completed in 2006, and now in 2015, i am sure it has rusted again to the point that the same probelm is occurring.rust in the braking system is a problem with this vehicle, as the brake lines have rusted out and failed twice already.

Repeated parking/emergency brake system failures. The vehicle fails commonwealth of virginia safety inspections at least every other year. Repairs end up costing around $800. This is a common feature in most cars and trucks. The internet is filled with complains regarding the chevy avalanche. Why was a recall never issued for the automatic transmission models?

I am an owner of a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500.lately i have had continued and consistent unwanted anti-lock brake (abs) activation when traveling at low speeds and approaching stop signs, stop lights, and yield signs at or near intersections. The unwanted abs activation appears identical and consistent with gm product recall 05068 and nhtsa campaign number 05v-379 in which 804,000 gmc and chevrolet vehicles were recalled for unwanted abs activation. The primary geographic regions affected appears to be the salt belt states. The problem appeared to be abs wheel sensors not properly prepared prior to installation causing rust and/or corrosion to affect the wheel sensors. Although a check of my vin does not yield any safety recalls on my specific vehicle, i believe my vehicle is affected by the same front wheel sensor corrosion issue as those vehicles listed in the recall. My vehicle avalanche which is one of the vehicles affected. I also reside in illinois which is one of the states affected. I am concerned this may cause and accident. I also believe this is a manufacturer defect and therefor the manufacturer should be accountable for any defect that may jeopardize consumer safety. I would like my wheel sensors cleaned and/or replaced per gm recall and at no cost to me.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. The contact stated that while traveling at a low speeds, the abs sensor illuminated and when applying the brake pedal, the vehicle lunged forward. The contact mentioned that excessive force was required into order to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

Stopping, from between 5 and 10 mph, after a small drive - like a few yards.. The anti-lock brake engaged, made a pulsing / ratcheting noise and the brake pedal vibrated -- but the truck did not stop. I could not press down on the pedal any harder, and the truck took substantial distance to come to a stop. --dry road.-- i also have an abs light on the dash from time to time.

I was traveling at 55 mph when i came to a stop light and while slowing down for the light my brake pedal went to the floor and ended up going through the light. It was a good thing no one was in front of me or i would have collided with their rear end of their car at 55 mph after looking into what happened i noticed my brake like has corroded enough to cause a leak which upon inspection all 4 brake lines running from the master cylinder to the brake management/ equalizationsystem was rusted beyond repair.

Today while i was at a stop with my truck in gear and the brake pedal depressed with minimal pressure, i heard air release and my brake pedal fully depressed to the floor.my brake lines had ruptured causing brake fluid to spill out and my brakes barely worked at all.i had to push the brake pedal into the floor with excessive effort just to slowly roll to a stop at low speeds.luckily i was just a mile or so away from home and i was able to make the rest of the trip without incident.however, just minutes before the failure i was traveling on the freeway at 65 miles per hour during rush hour.at those speeds it would have been impossible to stop quickly, or at all, if needed had the brake lines had ruptured then.this could have caused a multiple vehicle accident with potential injuries or fatalities.i may not have made it home alive if that were the case which is a very scary thought.this issue really should be addressed.

While exiting the highway another vehicle cut in front of mine forcing me to stomp on the brakes to avoid a collision.the brake pedal went to the floor, but i did not make contact with the other vehicle.the drive home was less than 1 mile and brake pedal had no resistance.once in my driveway, i noticed a small puddle.had my wife press the brake pedal while i looked underneath and brake fluid shot out of one of the brake lines.will be forced to have it towed to a repair facility.

I was traveling at 45 mph when the car in front of me slowed down to turn.i attempted to brake and the pedal felt soft then went right to the floor.i began pumping the brakes in order to slow the vehicle down.i was only able to stop the vehicle after manually shifting the transmission into 1st gear and pressing on the emergency brake.when i inspected the vehicle, the rear wheel and undercarriage were covered in brake fluid from a corroded steel brake line.upon further investigation all of the brake lines in the vehicle that were installed in locations unable to be routinely cleaned were severely rusted.

Vehicle was stopped at stop sign. Suddenly brake pedal went to floor and vehicle started drifting into intersection with tractor trailer approaching. No lights ever came on. My wife pulled the emergency brake to stop vehicle. Found metal brake line ruptured at fuel tank.

The brake line broke due to rust and as i have seen this is a on going thing. Gm says it is not a safety issue but it very much is as when the line brakes you lose paddle and at high speed this could kill people. The fact that they do not see this as a safety issue tells me a lot about gm and how they don't care about the people that buy from them. My truck was on the boat launch when the brake failed i'm lucky i did not lose my truck and boat. This needs to be fixed at no cost

I was traveling at approximately 35 mph when a car in front of me stopped short and i was forced to apply heavy brake pressure. The brake pedal went almost all the way to the floor i was forced to steer off the road in order not to hit the vehicle in front of me, the avalanche had almost total brake failure. Upon inspection of the vehicle it was found that the brake line had burst due to severe corrosion and the brake fluid was pouring out of the vehicle right above the rear axle.

See above, brake line broke during a sudden stop and i found out all the lines were bad.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. The contact stated that brake fluid was leaking and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact mentioned that the brake lines were corroded. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,400. Updated 08/04/16*lj

Abs pump or speed sensor are damaged and not working on this truck. When my vehicle was turned off the abs pump kept running causing me to pull the fuse for the abs. Chevrolet is aware of this problem as i have been calling them trying to have them include my truck in the abs/speed sensor recall which is on other trucks like mine. Chevrolet continues only to recall these trucks which were manufactured in the "salt states" only. As stated on:http://www.chevroletproblems.com/recalls/avalanche/2002/service brakes, hydraulic:antilockrecall for 2002 chevrolet avalancherecall announcedaugust 29 2005nhtsa reference#05v379000number affected1,353,718summary: certain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles may experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation. This condition is more likely to occur in environmentally corrosive areas. This recall will be launched in the "salt belt" states of connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maryland, massachusetts, maine, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia only.consequence: this can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash.fix: dealers are to remove the wheel speed sensor and thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the bearing, apply rust inhibitor to the cleaned surface, grease the mounting surface, reinstall the wheel speed sensor, and check the peak-to-peak output voltage to ensure the wheel speed signal is within specifications. The recall began september 22, 2005. Owners may contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or gmc at 1-866-996-9463.for detailed information & supporting documents, see the official nhtsa page concerning recall #05v379000

My brakes felt spongy during a drive, after arriving at home and visually inspecting my brakes i pumped the brake pedal twice and the brake line ruptured which runs directly under the drivers seat.there is significant rust on all brake lines, i just want to make sure my rupture is recorded after reading ea11-001.

When attempting to shift out of park the brake must be applied. The brake pedal sank to the floor and the brake telltale illuminated. Investigation identified a leak in the brake line just forward of the abs module. Additional inspection highlighted significant brake line corrosion in the remainder of the system. The mechanic advised that a complete replacement should be done.

After making the 23.7 mile commute to work driving on a parkway with a speed limit of 55 miles per hour that includes hills, i was entering into the parking lot at my workplace at approximately five miles per hour and when i applied the brake pedal the pedal went straight down to the floor and would not stop the truck.i then quickly applied the emergency parking brake and it stopped the truck.approximately 30 minutes later i noticed a puddle of brake fluid next to my left front tire and a large puddle of brake fluid next to my left rear tire.that is when i looked under the vehicle and noticed the brake line had rusted apart.

I was leaving work and traveling around 20 mph.i attempted to brake for a stop sign and the brake pedal went nearly all the way to the floor and braking was severely compromised, taking much longer than usual to stop. It was taken to a gm service shop (hallman's chevrolet) where they indicated that my brake lines were corroded, one was leaking brake fluid, and all lines needed to be replaced.the vehicle had passed the state inspection 2-3 weeks prior to this event. At that time, i had told them that my brakes were acting abnormally. The dealership indicated that they do not check brake lines during an inspection.cost to fix the issue was quoted at around $1700.00.

Im getting ready for a trip, from texas to ohio in sept. Pulling another vehicle. I decided to get the truck ready before such a long trip.it started fine, no signs of problems,i pushed on the brake before changing gears, and my pedal went to the floor. I could hear squirting and air.i knew i had a leak.i investigated the issue and found hydraulic fluid under the driver side seat. I found one of the lines had split above the ehcu unit, spitting fluid all over the under body.this line was severely rusted.the other lines have some surface rust but nothing like this line. It is no longer tubular looking and looks more like a wet stick with a lot of missing branches, and is much larger looking than the others.also, i found a leak on a line that runs to the rear axle, on the driver side frame that was severely rusted like the one described above.im pretty sure this is the line that is split, but its hard to tell, i cant find a diagram to help trace the lines.after investigating the issue, i rechecked my dash lights to see if an abs or a brake light, none are on.i have contacted dealers and brake mechanics for repair, and have to have it towed as there is not enough pressure in the line to stop the vehicle.the truck was purchased in ohio. I would have imagined that they would be coated or stainless since it is a salt belt state, and im not sure why only one line degraded like it did..this is a 2002 avalanche 1500 4wd with z71 off road package, it is expected to get dirty and wet.i believe better standards are in order to improve safety, and that there should, with this many people affected, definitely be a recall on the lines.had it decided to hold up until my trip, this could have been very disastrous.

On 8/15/13 in the evening hours i was traveling in my 2002 chevy avalanche with my wife and daughter to a friends house when i went to stop for a turn. As i applied the brake i felt a little pressure then heard pop noise and the peddle went to the floor with no warning and the truck would not stop thankfully there was no one stopped to make the same turn. I was able to get slowed enough further down the road at a turn around and got stopped. I got out to look at what had happened and noticed brake fluid leaking from under the truck on the driver side upon further investigation i found the metal brake lines running from the master cylinder to the abs module on the frame rail corroded severely, about half way down the line i found a large pin hole blew out the side and was leaking, at the time it happened i got no warning lights just brake to the floor. The vehicle has 150000 miles on it and for the last 5 years has mainly been garage kept averaging under 1000 miles a year the last 5 years. I have owned it since 2002. I keep this vehicle very clean, i am in a salt belt state and if i drive it in the winter i always wash under it frequently. I feel this is a direct manufactured problem i also own a old 77 pick up and it has the original brake lines in it and have hardly any corrosion on them. In researching for new brake lines i noticed alot of complaints with this issue and finally got here seeing a case opened way back in 2011. This problem is not going to go away and gm needs to address it before someone gets killed. After talking to my local chevy dealer there is not even a prebent brake line option to purchase.years ago chevy issued a recall for the tailgate cables in a quick fashion not sure why a brake problem that is more serious is taking so long to correct.

I purchased a used 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500 in november 2014. I have had continued and consistent unwanted anti-lock brake (abs) activation when traveling at low speeds and approaching stop signs, stop lights, and yield signs at or near intersections. The unwanted abs activation has nearly caused several accidents. My vehicle is a 2002 avalanche which is one of the vehicles affected. I also reside in minnesota which is one of the states affected. I am concerned this may cause and accident. I also believe this is a manufacturer defect and therefor the manufacturer should be accountable for any defect that may jeopardize consumer safety. I would like my wheel sensors cleaned and/or replaced per gm recall and at no cost to me.

I was visiting family and i was getting ready to drive back home (3 hour drive) and i was in the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to start the vehicle and my foot all of a sudden went to the floor.i got out and saw oil coming from my left rear wheel and determined that it was brake fluid.i had to have the vehicle towed to the mechanic shop and found out that the brake line was rusted through and just started spitting out brake fluid.this appears to be something that is common due to the material that is used to make the brake lines.this could have easily happened in traffic causing injury to my family and others.this should be looked into before someone is seriously injured.

At low speeds the anti lock brakes engage on dry pavement..this greatly increases stopping distance.

Lost all braking power while driving. Pedal went to the floor. Drove home slowly, looked underneath and the front brake line had rusted through. Puddles of brake fluid.

I lost my brakes totally not just half of them pulling a small trailer with iron going down a long hill in mankato, mn. On madison ave. I rear ended a pick up which pulled over and i continued rolling down the hill building speed so i had to drive my truck into a wall with my daughter instead of reaching the next intersection. Gm has now changed their brake lines in to stainless steal since 2003 because they knew they had problems with their brake lines. My brake lines are on top of frame running back to the rear axle with the gas tank blocking most of the lines. There is only 1.5 inches between the frame and body. Along side is the wiring harness going back to the rear, no room to inspect or see your brake lines. This could of been so worse because of all the traffic and our lives. Do something pls... Police report 18-25773 mankato police dept. Before someone gets killed!

Emergency/parking brake parts worn out prematurely. Park brake hardly ever used but the vehicle failed state inspection due to inability to stop vehicle.i was told by several mechanics and owner's of similar vehicles that this is a design flaw and should be subject to recall.

The brakes failed due to rusted lines almost causing me to wreck

Getting ready to leave home and noticed a leak near the left rear tire.icrawled under the truck and noticed a drip from the brake line.at this time, my wife was going to move the vehicle from out in front of the garage and i advised her not to hit the brakes to hard as there was a leak.when she hit the brakes to start the vehicle the petal went to the floor and fluid sprayed everywhere.i feel fortunate it happened when it did versus out on the road.

My 2002 avalanche had multiple brake lines fail this morning when i tried to stop when a dump truck pulled out in front of me this morning.i could not stop, the brake pedal was to the floor and i ended up in a field.the service shop showed me the heavily rusted and pitted brake lines.they failed in areas at the bend that were subject to salt exposure.the shop said the metal brake lines all have to be replaced.

I started to pull out of my drive way and pressed on the brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor i got out and checked under the truck and there was brake fluid leaking out of the line and i found out that the lines had rusted into and this shocked me because i don't think a brake line should rust .all my brake lines are really rusty.

After replacing the rear calipers, attempted to bleed the brakes to remove air from the system. While pumping up the system pressure, heard a loud "pop" and the brake pedal went to the floor. Discovered brake fluid leaking under the frame rail underneath the driver's door. Brake lines are completely rusted. Though i currently reside in a salt belt state, the first 6 years of this vehicle's life was in az. Gm needs to correct this issue before someone is hurt or killed.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While driving 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The contact collided head on into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed. The contact sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical attention. The contact, a licensed mechanic, diagnosed that the brake line was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

I noticed that by brakes felt like i was losing braking power.i suddenly was able to push my brake pedal to the floor and my braking was reduced.i got home an noticed that my main brake line was severely rusted and fluid was squirting out of a pinhole of my brake line.i searched the internet and found that this is a common occurrence among chevrolet truck owners.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. While driving approximately 35 mph and attempting to make a sudden stop, the driver forcefully depressed the brake pedal and the pedal extended to the floor. As a result, the braking distance was extended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake fluid was leaking due to corrosion in multiple brake lines. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,258.

Dash light don't work. Dimmer switch very hot to the touch.

The abs kick in while turning at low speed.

2002 avalanche 1500, abs would activate when coming to a slow stop. Dealer said it was probably the speed sensors, recall was already done so they wouldn't do it again. That is not right! i don't care how many times they have to fix it, if safety parts are failing, they need to replace them! long story short... I replaced the sensors, didn't work. I replaced the whole bearing/hub assembly which came with pre-installed sensors. Fixed!

07/12/10 brakes failed on 2002 chevrolet avalanche...brakes went to the floor and left lane was free of traffic or i would have rear ended cars in front of me stopped at red light. Rusted brake line was replaced at brake specialist for $573.55.06/09/11 as i approached red light, brakes failed, pedal to the floor stopped just inches from stopped car in front of me. Took the avalanche to repair shoptx. They currently have the avalanche, four rusted brake lines...$1700 to replace. I have googled this "rusted brake issue with the avalanches and it seems many other owners are having the same problem.

Brake line burst near abs module under truck.

Coming to a stop and brakes went to the floor abs light came on , found hole in brake line lines rusted all through out the vehicle . I almost hit a women on feb 6 2010 another hole was found in the line on sept 21 2011 brakes did it again to the floor it my emergency brake to stop 2 different lines have holes in them am trying to replace as much as i can. There is a box under the body that my brake lines go into they are rusted really bad to im not sure what the box is for i have had a lot of brake problems. This truck has been not driven for months at a time due to brake problems thank you.

Frame corroded/buckled; brake failure(had a near accident) due to rust. 2002 chevy avalanche, well cared for 48,000 miles. Never seen this on any other vehicle i have owned. $6,000 dollar repair. Gm won't look into/address problem. I have read numerous messages on this same problem with gm vehicles. It is not an isolated incident. Had to replace brake lines twice(rust) and now the frame!

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. When applying the brakes, the brake pedal extended to the floorboard and failed to stop the vehicle. The brake lines were corroded. The vehicle was previously repaired for this failure; however, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the calipers were corroded. The brake lines were replaced, but the failure was not remedied. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 04/04/16*lj

2002 chevrolet avalanche - brake line rusted through after only 38,000 miles resulting in no brakes while going down hill. Luckily iwas able to avoid hitting any other vehicles. Downshifted the transmission and used the parking brake to eventually stop the vehicle. I've now read several hundred other reports of the same problem. Gm should be made to replace all brake lines on all chevrolet avalanches with stainless steel lines. This is an extremely dangerous situation which only shows up when you try to use the brakes - which is obviously when you most need them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On 07/27/2010 i was driving my chevy avalanche, 2002, with 57000 miles on it. I came to a stop sign and the brakes failed. I investigated and the drivers side rear hard brake line had rusted through. I replaced both rear lines, bled the brakes drove the truck to test the brakes and the drivers front hard line blew out, it had an 1/8 inch hole rusted in it.

2002 chevrolet avalanche z-71, brake lines rusty to the point of failure at anytime, spongy pedal, and difficulty stopping. At present time have not repaired due to extreme cost. If there is a catastrophic failure of the brake system there will be a massive class action law suit (if my family and i survive).

Corrosion of hard brake line from the master cylinder to the rear distribution module resulted in loss of braking capacity when the brake line failed resulting in fluid leakage.

Brakes failed on 7/12/10 almost rear ended car before came to stop by veering into left lane to avoid car stopped at red light. Repair shop replaced rusted brake line. Again, 6/9/11, went to brake for red light, brake pedal went to the floor and stopped just before rear ending car stopped at red light. Repair shop says rusted brake lines!

I wanted to add to the complaint about brake erosion on 2002 chevy avalanche.my front brake line blew out when braking. I nearly missed the car in front of me that was stopping when i drove off the side of the road. I've also had to replace nearly all my brake lines due to leaks. I live in up-state new york.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start immediately; however, after several attempts, the contact was able to turn the vehicle on. The failure recurred the following day. She purchased a battery but the vehicle was making an unusual noise. She also noticed that the abs light illuminated on the instrument panel. She turned the vehicle off but the noise continued. When she tried to start the vehicle the following day, the battery was dead. The dealer advised her to unplug the abs motor. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the abs motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in recall 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The current mileage was 86,835. The failure mileage was 86,830.

Truck sitting in yard and brake line failed.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when the brake warning light illuminated and the brake pedal was depressed to the floor board, reducing braking pressure. The contact stated that the failure was constant and the brake pedal needed to be depressed to the floor in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostics or repairs.the contact referenced an open investigation relating to the failure under nhtsa action number: ea11001 (service brakes, hydraulic service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Updated 08/01/11*ljupdated 08/11/11

Nhtsa action # pe05020, nhtsa recall # 05v379000, gm corp, service brakes, hydraulic, antilock. This problem persists in my 2002 chevy avalanche. The recall only temporarily fixed problem. I am requesting nhtsa extend recall to repair ongoing problem. This problem may cause loss of life. I have notified gm and expect a follow up by nhtsa.

2002 chevrolet k1500 avalanche 4wd activates antilock brakes while completing a stop at low speeds (less than 5mph).this malfunction occurs every time the vehicle is driven, often every time the vehicle comes to a complete stop.the activation of the abs system has the undesired effect of greatly lengthening the stopping distance in an uncontrolled manner.in effect, the vehicle is not under control when approaching a stopped vehicle in traffic, intersection, pedestrian, parking, etc.this is a very hazardous malfunction of the abs system.this particular truck was recalled and repair was attempted by a chevrolet dealership a few years ago.this previous dealership repair of the uncontrolled abs braking was not sufficient as the abs malfunction has returned on this vehicle. On 4/1/09 the chevrolet dealership has refused to repair my current abs malfunction condition, stating that "gm will only do the repair once".the dealership repair did not work on my 2002 avalanche, and now i am "stuck" with a vehicle that is a safety hazard on the roads due to uncontrolled releasing of brake pressure at low speeds.please give me direction of what action i can take.thank you.

The brake lines on my 2002 chevrolet avalanche are severely corroded (rusted).i already had a ten-foot section of the tubing replaced this summer.since a 'hard stop' last week, my brake pedal now has a soft mushy feel, and braking distances are longer.another section of the brake lines seems to have 'burst' and is leaking brake fluid.i'm taking it back to the shop to have the entirety of the brake lines replaced.hoping i'll eventually be able to get the cost of this repair covered by gm, as i don't think these should fail (ever), even after the warranty has expired.

I am currently having a problem with my 2002 chevrolet avalanche as to unwarranted abs activation. The vehicle is unable to stop a low speeds or hesitates at 5 mph coming to a stop. I began to have this problem about a week ago, on or about april 14th, 2010. I conducted a search of your web site and saw that there has been previous complaints from 2005. I contacted chevrolet at the number provided in your recall bulletin # 05v-379. When i spoke to a customer service representative they told me my vin # did not qualify for the recall. Chevrolet will not honor any repair to this vehicle which i believe clearly falls within the make/model/year. I plan to have the repairs made, and file suit against chevrolet for the cost of those repairs.

2002 chevy avalanche, rusted brake lines, brake line burst(failure), loss of braking.

During an emergency braking condition, thefront brake line failed causing loss of brakes. Found all brake lines corroded to point of possible failure under same conditions. Truck has only 44,500 miles on it. Also found extensive corrosion throughout frame. Truck had additional undercoating installed by dealer(marchese chevrolet in ny). Dealers reply to condition, yeah we have had several avalanches and cavaliers with the same problem. It is not known if the problem is substandard steel or possibly a reaction with the undercoating. Vehicle is not being used at present time. Vehicle is a 2002 chevrolet avalanche purchased new 12/2002. Additional issues with brakes, dealer recall on rotors 22,000 miles all 4 replaced, rotors and pads replaced by local shop with 42,000 miles, all 4 in need of replacement again.

The contact owns a 2002 gmc 1500 avalanche.two years ago, the abs sensor was repaired on the vehicle under recall.currently, the abs sensor is not working properly and the brakes do not hold in the middle of stopping.the dealer stated that the contact would have to pay for the repairs due to the previous recall repair.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the failure mileage was 52,100.

Re: chevrolet avalanche brake failures... The brake lines on chevrolet trucks are made of a material that is not rust resistant and leads to brake failures such as it did on my 2002 avalanche... Although my failure happened at low speed, it is a definite safety concern for owners of these gm products. Hundreds of complaints are listed on various web sites detailing this problem, one that gm will not hone up to because the repair bill to replace the entire break line system costs owners over $800.00 at a gm dealer. Please look into this gm failure to put rust resistant materials on this very important part of any vehicle.

02 chevy avalanche electronic brake control module is defective and no longer under warranty. Gm has had documented problems with the abs on the '02 avalanche but so far has only issued a recall for northern states, blaming the problem on road salt rather than the obvious design or manufacture defect. Road salt didn't cause this abs failure because i live in florida. The recall should be extended to the whole u.s. This is a safety issue that nhtsa should address with a mandatory recall for all '02 chevy avalanches. Gm refuses to acknowledge that it is a safety problem rather than a warranty issue. I did a 360 on a major interstate due to this and should be addressed before it kills someone.

I experienced a brake line failure on my 2002 chevrolet avalanche 1500 4x4 while vacationing in florida. On sunday, february 6, 2011, i noted that the brake pedal feely spongy. Upon investigation, i noted a leakage behind the driver side front tire. When i checked the brake fluid reservoir it was below the normal level. An inspection of the brake lines indicated severe rust and corrosion. I had to drive to the nearest repair shop and rent a car until the repair was complete.

I own a 2002 chevy avalanche, and i am having daily problems with the anti lock braking system activating inappropriately at slow speeds and during slow turns. It started happening occasionally some 2-4 years ago, and has progressed to a daily occurrence.i just hadmajor work done replacing my wheel bearings, rotors, pads, shocks, and struts, but the problem did not go away its still occurring. Chevrolet is away of the defect, but not enough owners have complained or have been injured for them to make it worth their time to fix or contact owners of a certain potential problem.

Unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation.

2002 chevy avalanche 1500 4x4z71 corrosion in the front wheel bearing hub contaminated the tone ring on the speed sensor causing the brakes not to work correctly.lock up or not work at all very dangerous situation. I replaced the hud and it cured the problem appears that the moisture causing the corrosion got thru at the speed sensor plug. I see canada already has a recall on this why is the us taking so long to implement the recall. Does some one have to die for it to be an important safety issue.

02' chevy avalanche 60k miles, i purchased this truck in nov.2010 it is jan. 2011 not more then 45 days after purchase, the steering is progressively getting worse, grinding noise, turning noise, unbearable to drive and dangerous to drive. Contacted dealer to correct, dealer has not confirmed what will be done yet? this is not normal wear and tear type of issue, factory recall type of issue.

Steering wheel hard to turnover when you drive

While driving thru a parking lot after picking up my lunch, the food began to fall which i took my eyes off driving to catch it. When i looked up i saw light pole in front of me and when i pushed my brakes, it felt like the pedal went straight to the floor. Its like i pushed so hard i overpowered the system. When i backed away from the pole the brakes felt fine. I hit the pole which in turn caused cosmetic damage along with breaking the steering box because the tire hit the cement base. Also we found the brake fluid level sensor had broken at the fluid reservoir.

I have a chevrolet 2002 avalanche.there was a lot of clicking and clacking in my steering.i had the front end checked and realigned several times.finally a chevy service manager identified a consistent problem with the chevrolet.there is a linkage in the steering that is categorized as a shaft #19153614 that was not correctly designed when manufactured.according to the chevy service manager chevy had to redesign the shaft to correct the problem.due to the fact that the part was not designed properly originally i requested gm customer service to cover the cost of $201.95 cost.they had some foreigner from the phillipines call me to tell me they would not stand behind this material and workmanship failure. It seems to me to be a safety issue that general motors is sweeping under the rug.the service manager advised that they have had to replace many of these shafts.thank you.

Rear window frame plasticis cracking, there is a 3/8 gap that has form making the window unstable and leaking both air and water.the truck is out of warranty.

The drivers side rear panel on 2002 avalanches rust. My truck was parked in driveway and not running. I walked by and my hand made contact with the rusted spot causing an injury resulting in me having to go to the er to get the cut cleaned and a tetanus shot.

2002 avalanche. Tailgate cable failure. I understand there is a recall for 1999-2000 silverado / gmc pickups for replacing tailgate cables. I have had the cables replaced 1 time in 2004 under warranty, and they have broke again from rust-through 9/2006. Dealer said there is no recall on this, and i must purchase replacements. These are the same manufactured items in the stated recall, why is this vehicle not included? this is or can result in injury. The first time in 2004, i was standing on the tailgate when they broke. Luckily i fell off and was not seriously injured. The report for the trucks from 1999-2000 engineering analysis # is ea05-007. Please look into adding newer vehicles to this, as they potentially have the same issues.

2002 avalanche sway bars front and no rear s breaking at bushings. Looks like corrosion at the bends?

Well, when driving my 2002 chevy avalanche truck the reduce engine light cuts on. In addition, my truck starts to slow down and reduce speed. Sometimes on the interstate while i'm driving also. I've been to twogm dealership and paid money to have it service. As a result, they were charging me a lot of money, but never fixing the problem. It's very dangerous when driving sometime, so i been pulling over and resetting the computer to drive. I've read that there's recalls on some gm truck like mines. Also, i brought it to the gm service department too.

If someone had been behind me it could have been a serious accident.
