I just got this cardelivered to my home on 01/11/2019, then it id not want to start after jump starting it worked then shut off so i was going to the dealeship while driving onthe expressway the car just completely shut off would not start , so had it towed to the dealership thinking it was the battery now it has to be there till monday or tuesday,
Xt5 bumper-to-bumper warranty expired on 6-1-21. Both key fobs suddenly quit working on 7-17-21. Took to dealer 7-21-21. Cost me $300. Got it back on 7-26-21.drove vehicle for the first time after getting it back on 7-28-21. Key fob quit working again briefly then started after i kept trying for a few minutes. After driving for 5 miles, the car completely died on very busy road - no steering, no dash lights, break lights - then the car suddenly braked really hard and i almost got rear-ended.4-way flashers wouldn't work so i had no way to warn other drivers coming up behind me.i also was a sitting duck as i couldn't exit the vehicle since the doors wouldn't unlock and windows wouldn't go down. The temperature was in the 80s and i quickly began to overheat.i tried to signal other drivers who were beeping their horns and swerving around me until several pulled over to help. After approx. 10-15 minutes, as i was calling 911, the doors unlocked and i got the 4-ways to come on though they were working erratically.i called the dealership and they came and picked up the car. They've had it for a week and don't know what's wrong with it.this is a potentially deadly safety issue; i could have died or caused someone else to be injured or die due to the car suddenly losing all power while driving in heavy traffic with no warning, then braking hard and very unexpectedly, along with the inability to warn other drivers due to the inoperable 4-ways i also could have succumbed to hyperthermia as there was no way to escape from an extremely hot car. It appears that after doing some basic research, that this is not an isolated problem with the 2013-2017 xt5s. There are numerous reports of incidents similar or identical to mine found on various cadillac owners online forums. Additionally, a common complaint is that this problem has not yet been solved yet by general motors and their dealerships are at a loss to resolve this issue (they haven't been able to fix mine yet!)
My 2017 xt5 completely shutdown on my on saturday, 10/7. I was at a stop light & when i pressed the accelerator, the instrument cluster had a number of lights come on & the vehicle was very hard to accelerate. I had to pull over immediately & then the car shut down. It was completely dead: the hazard lights did not work (very scary) & onstar and the sos button would not connect. After about 5-10 minutes, onstar was connected & i was told not to drive the vehicle due to engine & transmission codes. The vehicle was towed the dealer by roadside.on monday, the dealer provided me with a loaner while the diagnosed the vehicle.on 10/11, when i went to pick-up the vehicle, i was told the issue was a 'logic lock,' the car was driven for 4 miles & considered fixed. I refused the car as we need to know the root cause.the dealer still has my car and has not contacted cadillac yet.i am still waiting to hear from them and also have a case opened with cadillac customer care, but they are less than helpful.the poor customer service is one issue, but the greater issue is the safety of my car and the fact that it completely died on me and the dealer thinks clearing some codes will resolve it.please help.god forbid this happens to me or someone else again. It is completely unsafe.
The "cue" system has malfunctioned. I have no navigation or radio and am unable to see how the controls are set for climate control. Also, the 360 degree cameras fail intermittently including the backup camera leaving me blind when parking or backing up. I have taken this vehicle to the dealership five times and cadillac has now declared my vehicle a "lemon" and is repurchasing it.interestingly, i've been driving to cadillac dealerships throughout central florida and have noticed a high number of xt5's with their dashboards completely disassembled in their service area. One service tech admitted he's also seen this issue in other xt5's. This sounds like it could be a pattern and cadillac is denying to me that there is a problem.
Sitting at a stop light and car lost all power. No ability to turn on hazard lights or call for help or anything. In my opinion this is a huge safety issue since my wife could have been rear ended since there were no lights at all on the car and no way to turn on any warning lights. Thank goodness this happened when stopped and not moving. I could not imagine the outcome of losing power at speed when everything is electronically controlled.
2017 cadillac xt5. Consumer writes in regards to electrical issues with vehicle. *ldupdated 10/04/2017
I was driving in traffic, about 45mph, when the parking brake came on, i got a check engine light, service brake assist, service stabilitrack and one other light on. I managed to keep it running enough to not get rear-ended, but it is not safe. The dealer now has it, and i am in a loaner. The car has less than 2000 miles on it, and this is the second check engine light (the first did not involve the parking brake), but the dealer did not find a concrete problem for the light. Is this going to turn into a recurring problem? it is very definitely not safe.
I was traveling on i-95 at aprrox. 75/80 mph when my dashboard lit-up like a christmas tree and my cadillac powered down to less than 50 mph instantly. The stabilitrak, check engine light, parking brake and car assist lights came on with a warning to "travel with care". I had to maneuver my vehicle over three lanes to get off at the nearest exit. I had no idea what just happened. There was no noise, smoke or evidence that the vehicle had a problem. However, i could only drive the car 55 mph with the foot pedal pressed to the floor board. It was 4:00 am and i was an hour from home. Instead of contacting roadside assistance, i drove the vehicle home...taking precautions. I contacted the dealership...who could not accommodate servicing my vehicle until the following morning. The following morning, all the lights were off. I dropped the vehicle off at the cadillac dealership for service. After they checked out my vehicle and took it for a test drive (taking it up to 80 mph), i was informed that they could not find a problem. No codes were stored in the computer system. They could not duplicate what i experienced. I find that odd. I am pretty sure that when a check engine light comes on and a car malfunctions that a code would be stored. I do not feel comfortable with my vehicle. I mainly drive within my small town...not having to exceed 45 mph on a daily basis. However, i do have to travel on the interstate for work 2-3 times a month. I am very uneasy about having to drive on the interstate at high speeds in heavy traffic again. I was not given confidence or comfort from the service department. This whole experience has left me disenchanted with this cadillac. I can't get out of it and buy or trade-in on something new at this time. I feel i should have received better service and reassurance. The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. When the brake pedal was depressed, it traveled to the floorboard and the gear shifter would not move into park. Also, the service engine, service stabilitrak, service transmission, and entire instrument panel warning indicators were illuminated. The battery was disconnected and reconnected and the vehicle was able to shift into park; however, it unintentionally went back into drive. The vehicle was towed to plaza cadillac (8893 us-441, leesburg, fl 34788, (352) 787-1323) where the chassis control, engine, transmission, and range control modules were reprogrammed. After the repair, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when placing the gear shifter in park. Also, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled while rolling to a complete stop. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road where it was restarted and functioned normally. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that other vehicles were experiencing the same failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The vehicle is using about one half quart of oil every 1000 miles.about half way through oil change, the engine add oil light comes on.dealer has so far said this is "normal".

Cause unknown.with the engine just turned off and vehicle stationary in a garage, i leaned into the rear compartment to retrieve articles and the vehicle moved forward.once again l leaned into the rear and it moved forward.i then started the engine, did not put it into gear, but simply turned it off.i leaned into the rear and once again the vehicle moved forward.

While driving 30mph on city street engine made loud roaring noise and dramatically slowed itself down to almost a stop as if i slammed on brakes. I had vehicle(1715 mileage) towed to dealership. They kept it 2 days and told me nothing was wrong. I picked up car and while driving home the engine made loud noise and dramatically slowed down once again. The next day i took my car to another dealership hoping they could repair vehicle. They kept car for 14 days and told me they could not duplicate concern and did not repair.so i picked up car hoping it would not happen again. It did happen 3 more times.one incident happened while driving through intersection on city street engine made loud roaring noise and abruptly slowed itself down to almost a stop. But in this instance when i stepped on accelerator to drive forward to get out of intersection the car would not move,it froze . Luckily i did not get hit in the back. I waited, turned car off, and then turned it on. I was able to drive home. I took car back to dealership on 7/19/17 explaining the car was unsafe since these problems are erratic and i could get hit in the back when the vehicle slows down to a stop in the middle of traffic. They kept car for 9 days called and told me they could not find problem so they wanted their loaner back. I was afraid to drive car back home so the dealer delivered car to my house and took back loaner on 7/28/17. It has been in my garage since then since i fear for my safety and my family and will not drive car fearing i'll get hit while driving if the vehicle malfunctions again. I never get a warning of any sort before it happens. After it happens and i turn the car off and on again the vehicle seems perfect. But i never know when it will break again since it is erratic. It is definitely a safety hazard.
My car is equipped with the auto stop feature to save fuel.i works fine but is very unsafe on hills here in seattle.two weeks ago i was stopped at a light on a hill and the engine turned off.i had a free right so i stepped on the gas pedal, there was a delay but before i could take my foot off the accelerator my car lunged forward in the intersection almost striking a pedestrian who was j walking.the next incident happened today when i was at a 4 way stop on a hill.there was a car on my left that was waiting for me to go since it was my turn and i stepped on the pedal and there was a delay so i pushed harder.the other car thought i was waiting for them so they went and then my car lunged forward and came within a foot of hitting them.they were not too happy and gave me a well deserved finger gesture.i believe my car may cause an accident because of this.the dealer said they could not turn off the feature.i called the cadillac company and filed a complaint but have not heard from them.i would like to have the feature turned off.i know its for gas mileage but i can afford the gas.

The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine indicator illuminated without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the roadway and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the vehicle shook while the contact attempted to accelerate. North bay cadillac in rosslyn, new york was made aware of the failure and performed an engine control module replacement, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
The cars auto shutoff shuts off the instant that the car stops, at stop signs, the car shuts off can then starting to preceed hesitates as it starts.this could cause a misjudgement in the ability to enter the traffic flow and result in an accident.the feature is not adjustable.
#1i have problem viewing thru windshield because light beige dashboard reflecting onto the inside of the windshield (sun glare)...#2i have hard to see rearview when back up because too dim backup lamps...
The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. The contact stated that the headlights (intelebeams) were designed to automatically illuminate when approaching a vehicle. The lights were supposed to deactivate when approaching an oncoming vehicle on the other side of the road. The contact stated that the intelebeams were not operating consistently. The lights turned off and on without any effort from the contact. The failure caused the vehicle not to start sometimes due to a drained battery. The intelebeams were supposed to be able to be manually turned on and off, but they would not shut off on a consistent basis. The contact was concerned of a possible crash or road rage incident if the failure was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to american chevrolet cadillac muncie (6580 w hometown blvd, muncie, in 47304, (765) 212-3294) and the contact was provided a loaner vehicle, but the failure recurred. The dealer was instructed by the manufacturer not to repair the vehicle anymore. The contact was in the middle of a lemon law lawsuit. The failure mileage was 2,000.
The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. While washing the vehicle in the driveway, the contact noticed that the interior of the passenger side headlight assembly was cloudy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (ingersoll auto cadillac in danbury, connecticut) who stated that there was no failure and the vehicle was designed that way. The dealer further stated that the headlight assembly would eventually dry out with the heat from the head lamp. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 2,699.

Stabilize warning keeps coming on and says to set parking break as well. Reading about this, it is a very common warning that causes the stability sensors to fail and increase likelihood of a crash for something that is supposed to be a saftey feature on this vehicle. This creates an unnecessary saftey hazard that cadillac will not admit to or fix. This seems to only happen when sitting still at a stop light or stop sign.
Difficulty refueling the vehicle at the gas pump. Gas nozzle keeps shutting off during the refueling process, so it takes a long time to refill the gas tank. Cadillac isn't quite sure what is wrong and the vehicle has been at the dealer for more than a week waiting on a part. Vehicle only has 7,500 miles on it. This is my first cadillac and probably my last!

For about 2 years now we have been receiving a service transmission soon warning from our 2017 cadillac xt5 but every time we take it in to cadillac they state that they can't duplicate the warning.i have pictures documenting almost every time the message has come up except for two time including the most recent as i didn't have my phone on me at the time. Ithas been to cadillac 3 or 4 times for this.the most recent time we received this message there was a message following that stated your transmission will not be able to shift soon while on the xpressway and we were drive 65 mph with our kids in the car, i was not able to get pictures this time as my husband was driving and i didn't have my phone on me. We have taken it to cadillac and they say they can't duplicate the message and they received no code warnings.we have been hearing strange sound during gear shifts and the transmission sounds like it is working really hard around the times whenever we received these messages.the car also handles very differently and difficultly during this time.we are highly concerned as this could cause a major accident if the transmission doesn't shift while driving especially while on the highway.

Purchased new xt5 in feb 2017, currently 8300 miles. After starting my vehicle and shifting into reverse, the transmission makes an loud bang and lurches backward. The first time it occur in may 2017 it caught me off-guard and the vehicle moved backwards about 3 feet. Since then this has occurred about 12 times and have returned the vehicle to the dealer for service, no issues found or repeated. Returned the vehicle again 8/28/17 for service for the same reason. Also the suspension is very rough, wheels fell like they are constantly shaking, large bumps in the road cause the vehicle to loose traction and deviate from lane of travel. Steering makes a loud whining/clicking noise. Steering was service in july and found loose mechanical item. 3 weeks later the same noise has returned. I believe the way the vehicle handles bumps in the road is causing the steering issue. Driving around curves and hitting a bump or depression in the road causes the vehicle to skip across the road surface and momentarily loose traction and steering control. Driving the same xt5 loaner car, does not have these suspension issues. Additionally, the audio randomly stops working, turning the car off/on allows audio to start working again.
The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. While the contact's wife was driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle shut off without warning. After restarting the vehicle, it shut off yet again. After the second restart, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The contact's wife attempted multiple times to depress the brake pedal and shut off the vehicle using the push start feature, but was unsuccesful. As a result, the contact's wife crashed into an embankment at an unknown rate of speed. The air bags deployed upon impact. A police report was filed. The contact sustained minor injuries, due to the air bag deployment, to her mouth and left arm. Medical attention was not received. The contact had the vehicle towed to his property. It was not yet determined if the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

New totally electronic transmission felt strange in upshifting and downshifting immediately after purchasing vehicle and was reported to cadillac in their customer satisfaction survey within a month of purchase.after five months and 1800 miles, the transmission failed completely. Prior to complete failure, the dealer was contacted and ask ed if there were any recall or issues with the new transmission and he indicated there weren't any.the following day, the transmission became eradict on an interstate at 70mph and we were forced to exist and return home on local streets.the car would only move about 10mph with the engine racing until we finally drove the 20 miles to out home.onstar was activated and diagnosed a serious transmission issue and scheduled towint to the dealer. The car was towed to the dealer on march 26 and as of april 15 the car has not been returned to me.
Randomly, after starting the vehicle and moving the shift lever to reverse, the emergency brake independently sets such that park is displayed on the dash as well as reverse. In other words, the vehicle is in both reverse and park simultaneously as displayed on the dash display. However, i am told by gm that the park displayed on the dash is really indicating the emergency brake is set and that the transmission is not in park. If the vehicle can independtly set the emergency brake when moving the transmission out of park, can this happen when the vehicle is in motion? if so, a disastrous accident could occur.
There is a mild clunking noise when the auto starts moving and then you remove foot off of gas pedal and then back on gas pedal to accelerate a slight clunking noise is observed. This happens in city driving stop and go conditions
The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. While driving approximately 20 mph, the driver's seat made a snapping and crackling noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the seat frame was replaced; however the failure recurred. In additionthe contact stated that the rear passenger wheel made a knocking noise when the vehicle drove over a bump or making turns. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,800.updated 02/14/17*lj
When taking turns, either left for right, the driver seat makes clicking noises and there is a feel of the seat shifting to the side.this is very prevalent when going thru round abouts.at times when the vehicle is parked and driverreaching to close driver door the same problem is apparent.
The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds over bumps in the roadway, there was an abnormal squeaking sound detected from the front end. There was an abnormal squeaking and growling noise detected from the driver's and passenger's seats. The driver's seat appeared to have a hole. The traction control warning light was illuminated. Additionally, there was a vibration in the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken several times to integrity cadillac (6025 international dr, chattanooga, tn 37421, (423) 954-7632) and diagnosed that the passenger's seat and struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 5,500.
After backing out of my garage, my xt5 after 3 previous brake stops two with stop signs, the next stop the brakes locked up with a sudden stop.i did nothing different with the 4th stop when the brakes locked.i noticed that the brake light was displayed and needed to be pressed to in order to drive the car to reach a city road.
Squeaky brakes. Dealer says it's considered an annoyance. Occurs each time the vehicle is in use.
Loss of brakes. Brake pedal went to floor and car would not stop. Brake fluid light went on. Towed to dealer, found master cylinder leaking into power brake booster. Both parts replaced and problem solved thus far. Dealer stated must be common problem because parts were backordered. Milage on car is 8,585 at time of brake failure. Vehicle was moving at time of brake failure, my wife was getting ready to get on expressway. No sign of brake fluid loss was visible.
After sitting for more than 1 hour, the brakes squeal until i have applied the brakes for 5-8 times.
Brakes failed. Coming to a stop sign on cr 13, brake pedal went to the floor. Brakes did not slow or stopthe car at all. Pumped the brakes 3 or 4 times, no braking. Went thru stop sign hitting another vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Automatic braking system did not activate. Estimates i was 50 yards from the stop sign when i first applied the brakes, speed between 20-30 mph.
Brake master cylinder failure - brake fluid error message appeared on screen and over the course of 24 hours the brakes stopped working. While pushing the peddle completely flush to the floor, the vehicle hardly stopped. Had the car towed to the dealership for repair.
On march 23 we took our 2017 cadillac xt5 to the dealership for a service because 2 days prior, the parking brake would not release while in a stationary position. We were able to release the parking brake after turning the vehicle on and off multiple times. All of the warning lights on the dash came on, but the brake released and was able to be driven home.the vehicle was ready to be picked up the following day. They had replaced the parking brake actuator and stated that it was the cause of the issue. The vehicle seemed to be running normally for us and continued to do so until the morning of april 9th.my wife was just leaving work that morning and started driving the car home when she approached a stop light and the brake pedal went to the floor, the vehicle was not able to be slowed or stopped.she was able to safely go through the red light and turn into a parking lot where the vehicle rolled into a parking stall.if she had made it through the light on green, she would have been on the freeway. There was a grand total of 108 additional miles since the last service on march 23. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership where they had it for almost a week.they found that the master cylinder had been leaking into the booster which caused the fail. The brake booster and master cylinder were both replaced.after additional research, i have found multiple people have had the same/similar issues with their vehicle.it appears that all of the warning lights coming on at the same time may have been a sign that the master cylinder was failing.
This car was sold to me with a driver awareness package that includes low speed front braking and i am unable to get it to work, a salesperson drove the car and could not get it to work and a cadillac mechanic at linus cadillac in vero beach, fl. Drove the car and could not make it work.. The car has been to two dealerships for this issue and the last dealer mechanic at linus advised me that the system is not working. Cadillac denies this and claims the system cannot be tested but that it is in the car and will work. I have never heard of any such thing. I have to much documentation on this issue to attach below. Videos, e mails to and from the dealer service dept, etc.
Multiple issues with garage remote control buttons not functioning.issue with driver seat not vibrating when vehicle ventures out of lane with "lane assist" feature on.vehicle shut down while driving on highway sending multiple warnings about engine malfunction, parking brake on, etc.

The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. When driving in the sun at any speed, the windshield acted like a mirror and caused everything on the dashboard to reflect onto the windshield. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nothing could be done. The failure mileage was 250. ..updated 11/21/16 updated 12/13/16.

The radio in the car keeps dropping sxm signal while driving down the street or highway or entering parking lots at nearby supermarkets or our lowes store. I have written cadillac and am waiting for their response. While not a safety issue per se, it is frustrating and not expected on a car that cost almost $64,000.
The sunroof exploded under normal operation in motion on a state road.consumer stated gm would not replace sunroof under warranty.
The car has starting issues when we were buying the car at 16500 miles full warranty the car had issues startingbefore we did buy it we were told the car was fixedwe were driving the car fromflorida to michigan on our first stop the car would not startwe started to look thru the manual and found written in handwritinga list of steps to follow on getting the car to startwe did this and the car did start of course this was not the end of the problem we have had the car to cadillac dealership with numerous tries to fix the problem the dealership has been in contact with cadillac but with no cure for this problemhow long do i have to wait for lemon law statues thanks

My wife and i went for a ride with our little dog with us, and as always he likes the window down so he can stick his head outside. No sooner than we had lowered the one (1) window we noticed an extreme amount of cabin pressure and buffeting, to the point that it caused extreme inner ear pressure and pain. At this time we also had the shade cover for the panoramic roof opened. We closed the shade cover to see if that would help with the window down, but the cabin pressure remained. The only thing that seemed to help was lowering at least a second window in the rear. After this experience i called sewell cadillac in houston, tx where we leased the vehicle and i talked to two (2) people about this problem which we had never experienced in any vehicle we owned prior to this. I was told that the dealership and cadillac is aware of the problem and that the problem was created when cadillac designed this and probably other vehicles and sealed the doors and the components to make for a quiet cabin experience, and not allowing any air to escape. The problem i stated is we were never made aware of this by cadillac in any literature we had nor did anyone at the dealership make us aware prior to leasing. As i told sewell cadillac representatives i talked to, we never experienced this with any past vehicle and if we had known and had been told about this issue, we would never had leased this vehicle. I did explain that now we can't ever lower a single window without the pressure and extreme pain and do not like to have additional windows down. We believe we were misled by not informing us of a known issue so as a consumer we could make a decision if it is something we could live with, and in our case we can't. We also believe since they were aware and never told us about this issue, this may be considered consumer fraud.
Platinum version (top of the line model) has widespread premium leather dashboard defects on brand new vehicles, so bad that both showroom new replacement premium leather dashboards are all defective. I first noticed mine several days after purchasing mine in october 2016. It has taken over 9 months with gm/cadillac corporate involvement to finally find my 5th replacement dash that does not have defective leather! the dealership showed me a brand new xt5 platinum on their showroom floor with bubbled premium leather dash. It is only affecting the xt5 platinum models because the leather is different. It is apparently a national issue.
The panoramic roof on our cadillac xt5 can not be used without extreme pressure in the cabin when driving if you open the sun shade and open a window the same thing occurs, extreme pressure in the cabin, or open the sun roof when driving. The pressure is so extreme that it causes very painful pressure in the ears, to the point i almost wrecked the vehicle. The dealership and gmc are completely aware of this issue, but they said nothing when we test drove it, there is nothing stated about it in the owner's manual and nothing stated how to remedy this painful issue. After the first experience in oct. 2017 shortly after leasing the vehicle, we asked the dealership about it, and the salesperson and his manager both knew about the problem and said it was an issue with all cadillac models because they sealed the cabin so well. This is a significant safety issue because of what it causes to the inner ear and the fact that gmc never made mention of this issue so consumers can make an educated decision if they wish to have a panoramic roof. In our case, if we were told as we should have been, we would never have leased this vehicle. Gmc must make buyers/consumers aware and the dealerships too, or not offer such sun roofs. I have reported this once, ref. # 11071918 and have no reply or answer.
Front section of panoramic sunroof exploded in normal driving conditions and at highway speed (approx 55 mph). It was not struck by road debris or any foreign object. The cloth shade was closed at the time so no glass entered the passenger compartment.
2017 cadillac xt5. Consumer writes in regards to electrical issues with vehicle. *ldupdated 10/04/2017
A clear fluid was leaking from rear of car when parked in garage.took car to dealer for service.i received numerous messages the partwas on back order, had not been shipped from china, has been shiiped from china, in michigan, had not shipped from michigan, etc.during week four i went to dealer to get more details about lengthy process.i was told the car is legally a lemon after passing the 30 day point and to contact gm to begin the buy back process.i contacted gm ninetimes attempting to speak to a human. The 10th attempt lead me to "christina".i was advised to file the lemon law complaint through nevada due to varying state by state laws, i went to dealer again last monday & spoke to service manager.he told us part is in tx & delay was due to computer problems at factory.options include buy back or repair.july 2, 2019 begins week seven my car has been at dealership.also, there's been a knocking sound coming from the left side when making a hard turn (into aparking space.) took to service dept.they said they could not find anyting mechanically wrong & had "other customers' cars" requiring servicing.took the car in again a week later.a mechanic and i drove car out of parking lot making left turn knock knock sound happens.another left turin into parking lot and knock knock again taking all of two minutes.he knows what the sound is and will put repair order in tofix car.when i took car in 5/21/19 i advised them the knocking sound had returned and was coming from the right side now when a hard turn is made.
Defective upper dashboard has large ballooned area in center where adhesive either failed or wasn't applied and lower dashboard has defective lump under material. These defects should never have left the factory. Poor quality control. Both dashboards are to be replaced by dealer.
Engine shuts off at stop light restart, stops and restarts or in garage does same thing.we submitted concern to dealer states it is factory setting.this is a safety concern, serious.
We were driving on the highway and suddenly we heard a loud explosion noise that resemblegunshot followed by highway noise. The car has a panoramic sunroof that was closed at that time however we can hear shreds of glass above the closed cover. I slowed down on the highway and we got out at the first exit. We pulled over on the side and called 911. There was no sign that any object hit the car; the panoramic sunroof exploded spontaneously.
I have an cadillac xt 5 2017. The lane departure warning does not work as advertised. I have spoke with several people from the dealer to dealers representative and regional manager. After 5 weeks the regional manager told me that the ldw was working properly as designed. He offered me some type of compensation ( $300 ). He agreed that i was correct that the way cadillac advertised this was incorrect and thank me for finding it. He said cadillac will be changing how they advertise this option.well great what do i do with a $ 54,000 dollar i purchase that had false advertising.i have had ldw in other gm vehicles and know how they work.now to the problem, when i go over the line the seat is suppose to vibrate or hear a beep. I have tried to have either work but going over the line over 100 times it only worked 5 times. I was going over 40 miles per hour and the law was green but only alerted me those 5 times. Also i was about 6 feet over the line each tine it went off those few times.my concern is what happens if i nod off or fall asleep and drift over the line and i hit the car, curb, tree or telephone pole. I was also told that since i have lane keep assist that will keep my vehicle from going over the line. Well i also tried that and the car does slightly pull me back in but if i pull to the right or left on over ride the lka where is my warning.i can not be the only one who noticed this.please help me
I have had the vehicle, which is still under factory warranty, for 5 months. The vehicle began alarming on the first day i drove it (10/16/20). Monday, 10/19/20, the vehicle went into "park" while i was driving it. The dealership did a quick assessment and called back and told me the battery was the cause of the issue. My immediate questions were "why didn't the battery indicator appear?" and "why would a low battery cause the suv to go into park while i was driving it?" however, as they were returning the suv to me, the transmission light came on. The transmission electric control was replaced due to "an internal failure in shifter" that was undetectable. On 12/21/20, the same dealership replaced the water oulet because they found a leak "coming from between the thermostat housing and water outlet pipe".on 3/14/20, after driving the vehicle 175 miles at 75mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated. The vehicle was not responding to me pressing on the gas pedal. No warning lights showed and no alarms sounded. Additionally, once the vehicle was stopped, it would not restart. Onstar ran a diagnostic report and no codes were found. The thermostat had a normal reading. The onstar representative recommended that i allow the vehicle time to cool and then restart the vehicle. I drove back home while making frequent stops to allow the vehicle time to cool off.on 3/15/20, i returned the vehicle to the dealership. On 3/22/20, the dealership notified me that they could not replicate the problem and did not find any problems during their diagnostic evaluation.they also did not test the vehicle by driving it either. I was told me to come pick up the vehicle without knowing the reason that the suv cut off while driving it on the highway.the 2017 cadillac xt5 is unsafe and could result in an accident or death. Please investigate this vehicle.
While driving approximately 10 mph in reverse with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated. There were warning indicators illuminated. The contact had to engage the parking brake to stop the vehicle. An unknown dealer was contacted, but no appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000. The vin was not available.

A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000.
While driving on city street, when accelerator hits the floor, the pedal will stick, continually accelerating. There is no way to unstick this as the vehicle continues to increase speed. I was able to use the brakes, even though the pedal was to the floor; i stepped on the pedal thinking it may release it and eventually it did. This has happened twice in the last week. Very scary.

The contact owns a 2017 cadillac xt5. When driving in the sun at any speed, the windshield acted like a mirror and caused everything on the dashboard to reflect onto the windshield. The driver's vision was obscured. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was a safety issue. Cadillac xt5 2017 luxury fwd model vibrates at all speeds.accelerator and steering wheel vibrates.tires have been balanced and rotated with no improvement to the constant vibration.water sloshes out of bottle in cup holder, jacket falls off clothes hook in backseat, eggs break in egg carton all due to significant and constant vibration at all speeds.
This vehicle has only 37000 miles and the factory installed tires are down to 2/32 of tread.the tires have been rotated every 5000 miles
I have a 2017 cadillac xt5 with 22,000 miles on it, the dealer had just informed me that the tires installed on this vehicle are worn out and must be replaced prior to the first snowfall. The warranty on these tires is 60,000 miles, tire rotations were performed by the dealer according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. A quick search indicates that this is an extremely common issue affecting this particular gm vehicle. This premature failure is a major safety issue and i would like to file a complaint to get this resolved.
Excessive tire wear. Starting at 17,500 miles all four tires were worn to 4/32". Now at 20,000 miles tires are worn to 3/32 and 4/32. Tires are worn evenly and have been rotated at dealer with service records to support. Dealer told me that the xt5 tires are only lasting 25,000 miles max. I was the third complaint of the day at 1:00 the last time i spoke to the dealer. Tire manufacturer warranties (prorates) the tire for 60k miles but cadillac customer care says tires are normal wear and will not support the issue, even with only 20k miles.. Clearly with the number of complaints and evenly worn tires , either there is a tire manufacturer issue or gm engineering specified the wrong tire. Acadillac with 20k miles should not be a candidate for new tires, and gm engineering needs to evaluate the concern and verify with their dealer network, especially in the detroit area. Tires worn at 30% of the projected warranty poses a safety issue especially on wet or slippery roads when vehicle handling is compromised.my dealer notes premature wear as a common issue with the cadillac xt5. I have filed a claim with cadillac customer care, however with no investigation they deny this potential safety item as a concern.
Premature tire wear- vehicle came equipped with michelin premier ltx tires & had to be replaced at 24,551 miles due to tread being worn down to 3/32" - 4/32".tires are rated for 60,000 miles according to michelin website.amount of tire wear would suggest either an issue with the tires or not the right tire for the vehicle.internet search would suggest this is not an isolated instance.
I bought this cadillac2017 xt-5used with 4,000 on itit has 11,000 on it know. I took the vehicle in fortire rotation & oil change. The service manager told methat these tires michelin premier ltx235/65 r 18tires on this year 2017 are bad tires. The treadon the tirewas measured . 5/32ndsat 11,000 milesthesetires are warrantyed to 40,000 miles. They say you should replace your tires if the tread tread is 4/32nds or less!i think that will hapen in the next 5,000 when i go in for my next oil change.i think i should have these tires replacedfor no charge at all. The dealer saidwhen i come in at 16,000 miles for my oil change he saidhe will replace thebad tirewith new ones that cost $205. He said he'd pro rate the tires & he saidthe will charge me $450for them.if thesetires are defected , why shouldi payany money to replace them, ifthey manufactured the tires wrong ??? very disappointed in thetires. I have boughtmichelin tires for at least 4 vehicles , in past year's,and never had a problem with the tires!!
