When the car is started the service air bag light stays on. I have to shut the car off and exit the car re-enter re-seat myself and my passenger(wife) several times. Sometimes the error goes away and sometime it does not. This car has the same problems the 2007 cadillac cts had and there was a recall. These cars may have the same air bags as the afore mentioned cts. The internet forums talk of this same problem for the sts. Air bag light came on and the dic indicates the air bag requires service. Upon investigation, the passenger presence sensor in the passenger seat is shot. The air bags are disabled and it's a thousand dollar repair at the dealer.rarely does anybody sit in the passenger seat. It appears that this passenger side sensor is a common failure in other gm models as well.
The contact owns a 2007 cadillac sts. While driving approximately 45 mph and when a when a passenger was in the seat the passenger side air bag light was off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times. Once the dealer calibrated the sensor, a second time they advised him that they could not duplicated the failure. After leaving the dealership the failure happened again. He took the vehicle back to the dealer who stated that he performed a diagnostic test but the vehicle showed no failures. He called the manufacturer and they referred him back to the dealer. The failure had occurred since last month. The vehicle was at the dealer when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 26,025 and the current mileage was 26,900.
I replace my airbag sensor in the passenger seat, this is a $600 part. On year later this part needs to be replaced again. When reading the gmcadillac forum this has been a problem for cadillac for sometime. Failure of this part can result in the airbag not deploying in an accident.
Passenger air bag warning light - dealer will not fix for less than $800.00. Same issue as 2007 cadillac cts. See below. This was a company car built early for employee evaluation. I am sure it was the same seat system general motors is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 cadillac cts vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which repeated flexing of the passenger sensing system mat in the front passenger seat may cause the mat to kink, bend, or fold. This flexing can break the connections in the mat. If this occurs, the sensor may not detect the presence of a front seat passenger and will disable the air bag.

10/27/06 multiple warning lights & refusal to exceed 40mph, due to low voltage/low amps on battery causing communication errors w multi modules, new battery installed.summers 2008 & 2010 refusal to turn over even w keyfob in slot, towed, new battery inst.towed july 2011 for refusal to turn over or take jump, shop found normal battery & jump successful.new keyfob 9/14/11 @my request.towed 2/27/12 for refusal to turn over or take jump, new battery installed, remotes reprogrammed.towed 7/3/13 for refusal to turn over or take jump, new battery installed @my request. Towed 3/4/14 for refusal to turn over or take jump, ignition system & battery ok, no explanation.three days ago refusal to turn over despite keyfob in hand, 2minutes later it started.wonder if 2007 cad sts shd be included in gm delphi system recall. I have a 2007 cadillac sts - top of the line car.at 800 miles, i had to have a new engine put in the car and now at 4,000 miles, the electrical systems fail, with out any warning. The car's electrical system totally shuts down, the hydraulic sytems fails and the engine is obviously off. There was no indication of any failure or any warning, the car's electrical system simply shuts off - completely.emergency flashers do not work, there is no access to the trunk for safety material.therefore, if this occurs on a highway at a reasonable speed, there clearly will be an accident - potential fatal accident by a car simply shutting down, with no indication of same.

Engine randomly stops running while car is going at high speeds or low speeds. Engine will restart and travel for various distances before occurring again.this problem has been reported on many 2007 cadillac and gm has made a recall on all 2007 cadillac except the sts model !it uses the same ignition switch as the other models. On many occasions, my 2007 cadillac sts experienced the exact same ignition problem as other more popular models of the 2007 cadillac. This problem causes the engine to suddenly quit while driving causing serious danger to being hit by the car behind me.it does not matter whether you are driving at 20 mph or 65 mph.it randomly causes the engine to die.an ignition recall has been issued on many (or all) models of the 2007 cadillac except this sts model.the dealer, thompson cadillac, confirmed that it is the ignition problem.however, gm refuses to pay for repair.can you assist me?

Vehicle failed to start three times since purchased new and had complete shut off at highway speeds once. Since this is an intermittent problem, cadillac dealer advised me that they cannot diagnose without reproducing problem. This is an unsafe condition and an unacceptable response from cadillac.
Making a right turn onto a road from a stopped position results in activation of stability control and complete loss of power for 1-2 seconds. Without any change in pressure on the accelerator, the vehicle speeds up. This has happened repeatedly.
I was leaving greenville, s.c.and the left side brakes lock and pulled me into the left lane of traffic and i took my foot off the gas and the car free rolled for a short distance while i got back in my lane. I reapplied the gas and got back up to twenty-five mph and the right side brakes locked. I was only going approximately twenty five mph when all of this occurred. I stopped in the emergency lane and got out of the car. I saw nothing visibly wrong and started up the emergency lane and the brakes continued to lock as i was going up the emergency lane. I got the car to the first exit and took that exit. I parked the car in a private business and had it towed from there.
There actually is no incident yet. The date is bogus so i can process this. My car is equipped with cadilllac's stabilitrak system. Approximately 80% of the time when making right hand turns only the system engages. Approximately 50% the car decelerates. When trying to make a right hand turn into traffic this is a dangerous situation. When i am trying to turn and join traffic and the car decelerates i am liable to be hit one day. I can be starting from a complete stop or i can even be rolling through a green line and this system will engage, but only in right hand turns.
About 30% of the time i am making a hard right turn, the vehicle stability system kicks in on my car.this happens on dry pavement.the car slows and there is no acceleration for about 2 seconds.

This one seemed to be the most dangerous.on random and unpredictable occasions while making a sharp turn on dry pavement at relatively low speedat approximately 20 mph the stability systemactive message or traction active message would be displayed on the driver information center and the car would lose power to all 4 wheels and slow almost to a stop even while the gas pedal was depressed - it would seem to stall in the middle of an intersection!on may 26, 2007 r.c. Olsen cadillac replaced the yaw sensor to correct the problem , but evidently that did not fix the problem which i continued to experience at random, infrequently,and unpredictable occasions.there seems to be a slight looseness in the steering when turned which usually occurs at low speed (less than 5 mph) at the beginning of a sharp turn with pressure applied to the steering wheel (most often occurs when steering wheel is pulled toward the driver).it feels like a 1/8 inch "slip" or "jerk" in the wheel.the occurrence is most noticeable when turning while backing out of a parking space or when making an initial turn after being stopped.it happens in forward and reverse but i seem to notice it more in reverse because that is when i seem to be putting rearward pressure on the steering wheel while turning.i suspect that the problem may be somehow related to the electronic adjustment of the steering wheel.note however that on my most recent service visit on june 27, 2007, woodward cadillac of andover, ma found that the front end was severely out of line and subsequently performed an alignment on the car which did not correct the problem but seemed to slightly improve it - that leads me to believe that the problem may be originating from the front end or rack.i have brought the vehicle in for service on this issue 5 times all with the result that the technician could not duplicate the problem and therefore could not fix it. The steering wheelwasmisaligned , off center.

I thought i was slamming on the brake, but hit the gas instead.the car crashed into the house moving the concrete block.the airbags did not deploy.i broke my neck at c4 and c5.i have seen 3 reports on this site detailing the same. All these cars were 2007 cadillac sts.with all the problems with gm and airbags, could this be related?

This cadillac make & model does not have an american engine, a fact that was not disclosed to me upon purchase. The engine light has came on several times in the past and dealership would mess with wires under seat and somehow get the light to go off and tell me it was the airbags that would make the sensor go off. Then when i pay my last note and get to 100,000 they decide to reveal to me that the same engine light defect means real engine problems. So after letting two more highly recommended mechanics diagnose the problem i was told by both that this was not an american engine but a very cheap german engine and that they had a large number of people having the same problem, with some having to sell their car for scrap metal. I am very upset to say the least and would never buy another cadillac. I would like to contact other cadillac owners that had this problem and bring a class action lawsuit.
Timing chain failures under 30,000 miles are prevalent on many gm 3.6l motors and they have sent out a letter explaining that "under certain driving conditions and with extended oil change intervals, the timing chain can wear prematurely causing the service engine light to come on"... There are hundreds if not thousands of these failures documented on the auto blogs/forums.. And this is a blatant attempt by gm to change the engine performance and cause more frequent oil changes in and effort to get engines to last outside of warranty (all most all are failing within warranty. I received a letter on march 14th, 2011 from mr. [xxx], general director of customer service, asking me to bring the car in to have the ecm modified to prevent failure of a known design problem... This is totally unacceptable solution to a design flaw... Causing me to take the risk of future failure and thel limit future liability by downgrading my 2007 cadillac sts's performance and making me change the oil sooner that their engineered oil change computerized program recommends... Left headlight fills with water during a rainstorm or car wash.headlamp is foggy with moisture reducing the light output and will cause a premature headlamp failure.

The headlights have a major fogging issue which leads to impaired visibility both for the driver of the car and for other drivers on the road.this issue is being reported in sts and cts cadillac forums at least as far back as 2008.i believe this is a defect in either the design or manufacturing of these components.
#1 the above mentioned vehicle was purchased in chicago on december 22, 2009.the odometer read 29,832 miles.when the car was driven back to maryland, a maryland vehicle inspection was required.the headlights failed the inspection.#2 over the past two years, condensation built up inside both the headlights.in the past month, i noticed there was one inch of water in the driver side headlight.the water has now shorted out the light.i believe this problem is a defect and i have read similar complaints on car forums on the internet.cadillac will not cover the cost of the repair because the car now has 63,000 miles.i am on a fixed income and cannot afford the cost of the repair which cadillac quoted @ $1250.00.

Nhtsa campaign #14v542000, recall id #226957 - fuel system issues, effective 03/12/2015.notified by credit karma on sunday, 11/04/2018.i purchased this vehicle in 2011.within the first month, the vehicle would not start after filling the gas tank the night before.initially i thought perhaps it was a bad batch of gasoline.i filed a claim again my warranty, requested information from thomas petroleum who confirmed there was no issue with gasoline,warranty covered repair.then again in 2016, i have experienced the same issue with fueling system.please see attached diagnostics from autozone.i have since then purchased another vehicle and 2007 cadillac sts presently inoperable.i was advised of recall from creditkarma
I went to the gas station to fill a gas. After i filled the car i saw big spot underneath of my car of gasoline. I went under the car i saw some gasoline color on the fuel tank.the dealer refused to fix it under the claimed recall.

Rear right brake caliper broke in half , while driving out of a parking spot i lost my brakes the pedal went to the floor and blew a whole in my rim and i no longer have brake pads, my brake fluid leaked out ( disaster. Unbelievable and i had new rear brakes.
My wife went to the local gas station and as she was pulling in she made a right hand turn past the pumps to park. She hit the brakes and the car sped up. She slammed them harder and it slightly slowed down but she hit 2 guard rails and then crashed into the cinderblock wall destroying the front bumper, both front fenders, headlights and the internal aluminum bumper was crushed as it was designed to do. The air bags did not go off but she was not hurt. She said the car sped up while the brakes were deployed. Also, after she hit the wall she tried to put the card in reverse but she had to put it in neutral to actually go in reverse. The car is at the mechanic being fixed at this time but i am concerned about this speeding up instead of stopping when the brakes are applied... This is not a good thing and the insurance company said it was up to me to find the cause. Someone from cadillac or nhtsa needs to come and look at this before the car is fixed.

07 cadillac sts - rear window shattered while driving on turnpike. Nothing struck the glass. The noise was extremely loud and i almost went out of control. Very dangerous.this should really be a gm recall and not a tsb. The dealer is replacing the glass under warranty with a redesigned glass and molding.
