The front passenger air bag warning light came on just as i was starting the car for the day. We took the car to the local dealership and they are well aware this is a on going issue for the 2006 sts, but it is not part of the recall. I would like to know if the same parts were used in the sts that were included in the recall ? the dealership wants almost a $1,000 to fix it and i was told none of my air bags will deploy until i get this fixed . I believe air bags as a safety feature should be covered for the life of the vehicle for issues like this. Very disappointed with cadillac not including the sts in the recall especially after reading all the other owners with the same exact problem.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

While starting my car, a light came on my car indicating "service air bag". I took my car to the dealership and they indicated that the passenger seat module for the air bag needed replacement in order to correct the service air bag issue. The total cost of repair including parts, labor and reprogramming was $1,000 to $1,200. I do not have $1,000 to fix this problem, so i am forced to drive a car without airbags. The 2005 - 2007 cts has the same issue and gm issued a recall. Why not the sts???

The air bag sensor under the seat, meant to indicate the presence of a front-seat passenger has failed, as denoted by a constant service air bag warning light.a dec, '10 press release announced a recall of '05-'07 cts' for this exact issue.paragraph 5 of the release reads in part "owners of certain other 2005-2007 that have significantly lower incident rates will be provided free repairs for the issue for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles."numerous contacts with cadillac customer service throughout 2011 resulted in refusals to authorize repairs at their expense. A complaint files with the wi dept of ag, trade and consumer affairs resulted in a call from a rep of gm's business resource center advising that they would again refuse my request because "...the sts model was not included in the recall."she offered that after i pay for diagnostics (local estimate $260) 'we will be happy to look into cost assistance on the repair.'two months later when i called back i was told they closed the file and that i needed to start the complaint process over.

I was traveling through the countryside on my way home from work. My car suddenly stalled, i lost control of the vehicle and slammed into an on coming car in the other lane. This caused permanent traumatic brain injury as our airbags never deployed causing us to slam our heads off windshield and side door window.

2006 cadillac sts.consumer writes in regards to safety lights for airbags were illuminated after recent vehicle repairs.the consumer stated the air bag light was not on, prior to dropping the vehicle off at the collision shop.

The passenger side air bag sensor stopped working. A warning light on the dash came on. Nothing happened to make it stop working, it is just a faulty part. The cadillac dealer gave me a estimate stating that the "module" needs to be replaced. However, they did not offer to do so under warranty. I think this should be a recalled item since i see a long list of this same complaint on this same model andsome other cadillac models.

Service airbag on the dash / airbag light on

At approximately 72,000 miles my cadillac's passenger seat light began to act up and would go on and off when someone would sit in the front passenger seat.i am single and rarely ever have a passenger in the front seat.approximately two times per month someone rides in this seat.the last time someone sat in the front passenger seat, i traveled 10 miles round trip on 1/19/2012, the "service air bag" and air bag red light indicator came onthe dash and since then will not go off. I take extraordinary care of my vehicle.i took it to a dealer only to be told that the entire passenger presence system (pps) needs to be replaced and that it was going to cost me $629.00.i understand that the same problem occurred in the cadillac cts model of the same year.my question and complaint are: did the modules come from the same place and/or are they the same module and passenger presence system.why wouldn't my cadillac sts be included in that recall when i see that this has happened to so many other cadillac sts models of the same year.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. As a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle causing it to veered off road and crashed into an embankment. The air bags failed to deploy. In addition, the contact stated that the seat belt lock disengaged. The contact and the front passenger sustained permanent brain injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Went to start up my 2006 sts-v today. After a few blocks of driving my airbag light came on. Another few seconds passed and across the message board it said service airbag system.

Passenger seat occupant sensor stops working, disabling the passenger airbag. 2006 cadillac cts were recalled but the cadillac sts uses the same system but was not recalled. Airbag light came up while driving under normal conditions and its giving the error code associated with the occupant sensor mat system

Light come on warning

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the passenger seat air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000.

Air bag light constantly stays on, along with the check engine light. Seat belt chime constantly rings with the seat belt connected. Gas low notification light does not come on until on empty. No heated seats. I think the ecm needs to be reset.sun roof goes up but not slides open. Passenger side door won't open.automatic car starter doesn't work. 2 years ago, my son in law, started this car in below zero temp and it started on fire. He put it out and restarted it and it was ok. Something makes noise occasionally for no apparent reason.

Passenger side airbag sensor is not working . Refilled gas tank when restarted car service airbag light came on .seems to me something gm should fix.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. While driving various speeds, the service air bag warning message displayed. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side presence module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000. Updated 08/30/16*lj

The "service airbag" light came on and the message on the rearview mirror is no longer detecting a passenger when a passenger is sitting in the seat.the passenger detector sensor has failed in the passenger seat.the same model year for the cadillac cts had a recall for the same problem.the two vehicles are substantially similar and probably use the exact same part, yet the the sts model was not included in the recall.a simple internet search shows hundreds of complaints on forums with this issue in the sts model as well as the cts model.the result would be that the airbag would not deploy in the event of a crash.

The "service air bag" display appeared on control panel during a return trip from florida to massachusetts. I searched on-line and discovered that cadillac had a recurring problem with this issue, and had recalled some cts models for same. However, the sts model has not been recalled. I brought the car in for service this week. The passenger seat module for the air bag needed replacement in order to correct the service air bag issue. The total cost of repair including parts, labor and reprogramming was $844.95.

Service passenger air bag system.

"takata recall"

We own a 2006 cadillac, sts, v8.at approximately 96k miles the airbag sensorwarning illuminated.at first it was intermittent.then became constant.dealership sais it will be $900-$1100 to repair.the warning was first noticed upon startup in the garage.same problem existed in the cts and was recalled according to the tech at the dealership.cadillac should fix this problem with as many other reports that have been documented. Ourselves along with many other cadillac sts owners are driving vehicles without airbags.whats the point?

Takata recall: service airbag warning appeared on the instrument panel. Auto is currently in the shop for analysis. The 2006 cts has the same airbag system. And it has been recalled. The sts has not. Why?

From an internet search i have found that a common problem on these models (also 2005, 2007 & 2008) is with the passenger side airbag sensors either not detecting passengers or, as in the case of my vehicle, not functioning at all either intermittently or on a continuum.a dealer wants between $900 and $1000to fix them and have reported to me that they "see them all the time".the 2009 cts model was recalled for the very same problems.i can't afford to get it fixed.hopefully you guys can get some action as gm was no help at all.thank you.[xxx] [xxx]pls don't hesitate to call if you have questions. Traveling 81 north in northeast pennsylvania, rounding turn car stalled. I lost complete control of the vehicle which caused me to slam into a guard rail and the car went down an embankment and into a boulder. Air bags never deployed. Passenger and i were severely injured and had to be pulled out of the vehicle. Although we were both buckled in, the seatbelts flew off upon impact. This car should be recalled, it is very dangerous and should not be on the road (its a death trap).

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The dealer was contacted (orr cadillac, shreveport, la 71105, 318-798-7250) and stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that the air bag off light illuminated and failed to illuminate when the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 68,000.

"service passenger side airbag" warning message displayed. A warning light will display saying the passengers airbag is off. Problemcomes and goes. This seems to be the same error that caused the cadillac cts recall. Why has this not included the sts? type this problem into google and there are lots of complaints including the dts. There is a tsb: "nhtsa number: 10036512. Cadillac: front passenger air bag status indicator displays off or switches from on to off with passenger in seat (replace passenger presence system (pps) module). Condition may be caused by passenger presence system (pps) in right front." will there have to be an accident for the recall to be expanded?

Pump is going out

Air bag light came on in vehicle when no one was sitting in vehicle and has been on ever since. I took the vehicle to dealership paid to have problem diagnosed was told. Passenger seat presence system failure. Quoted price for $900 to repair. I researched online saw recall for cts from 2005-2007 however not fro the sts. I contacted gm. Was called back in 48hrs to be told they do not help with fixing anything that is not under recall. Can you please recall the sts as well. I see so many others reporting the same thing. This is ridiculous. Its the same airbag system as in the cts. This is an important problem. I purchased this vehicle because of the safety features. Nothing in the manual says this would need to be serviced or replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. When the contact started the vehicle, the service air bag indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,396.

Passenger air bag light came on and has stayed on.the air bag sensor does not recognizing a front seat passenger.

1.i started my car via remote start to warm it up.. Passenger's airbag was reported via the dash controls as non-functional at that time2.drove 100 yards and the rear window imploded into the vehicle sending shards of glass all over the interior.it resulted in many small bloody cuts and scratches3.selling dealer would not respond to the issue.non-selling dealer towed the car for repair.

Started receiving a constant, "service air bag" warning message after 125,000 miles.the dealer told me the passenger presence module needed replaced.it will cost $1,000 for the part, labor, and programming.now i read on this forum that the same issue was found on the cts model and it was recalled by the manufacturer, but not the sts. It's difficult to justify putting that much money in an older vehicle.

Involved in head-on collision on july 31, 2016 when a vehicle pulled out in front of me on a clear, dry, day on pavement i was traveling about 30 mph and tried to swerve to miss the other vehicle, but my vehicle made contact on the left front quarter panel of my car hitting the other vehicle at the drivers side door. My air bag did not go off nor did the seat belt stop me from hitting the steering wheel.after the accident, the warning panel read "service air bag".the other driver was ticketed for failure to yield.

The contact owns 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning causing another vehicle to crash into the contact's vehicle. The vehicle rolled over several times ejecting both the contact and front passenger from the vehicle. The driver and front passenger sustained neck, back and brain injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

I understand that 2006 cadillac cts has a recall for airbag problems.cadillac doesn't deny that the same system was used in the sts.i've seen several complaints about the same problem. I just wonder why the sts was not recalled.i knew there was no warranty, and that's why i contacted cadillac. Knowing this they sent me for a diagnostic, which was a waste of time and money.the end result was that they said it's not under warranty. I would just like you to investigate to see if there should be a recall.this is a safety issue that cadillac should address.

Vehicle air bag light went on took it to repair facility they told me the passenger air bag sensor in the seat needed repair, cost $900.00. Why is the cts a recall but the sts is not covered by recall?

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. When the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer stated that the air bag wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,447.the air bag light illuminated again for the fourth time. The light would come on and go off.updated 12/09/14

2006 cadillac sts. Air bag light illuminated. *tathe consumer stated on may 7, 2007, she had to return the vehicle to the dealer, because the air bag light illuminated. Nine months later, the air bag light illuminated again.the dealer kept the vehicle for two days. They noted a wiring and/or connection replacement. Between february 2008 and october 2012, the air bag light illuminated. The light would come on at times and then go off, as if it was trying to correct itself. Prior to making an appointment to take it back to the dealer for the third time, the light came on and stayed on.july 2013, the light illuminated and went off again. As of june 2014, the light has once again illuminated and remained on.

I started up the car last night, and "service airbag" came up on my driver information center.it has not gone away sense.with all these air bag recalls, is that one that would be included?

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts which was purchased february 2007. While driving 60 mph he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into a stone divider. The air bags did not deploy at the time of the crash. The front of the vehicle bounced off the stone wall causing the vehicle to spin in a 180 degree turn and then the rear end crashed into the same stone wall. The contact suffered a broken nose. He was treated at a local hospital. To date, the manufacturer had not been contacted. The current and failure mileages were 27,000.

Service airbag light stays on.

I had the air bag harness replaced on this vehicle 2.5 years ago on this vehicle. The warning light is illuminated and i'm being told it needs to be replaced again. I purchased the vehicle in 2008. If the first airbag lasted for 5 years from year made 2006 (which is not very long). The one that was replaced in december 2011 should have lasted longer than 2.5 years. I am very concerned that these are defective parts and i don't want to be killed or maimed by the air bag and i don't want to pay for another one in such a short period. I have had all the tire monitors replaced also and the tire pressure readings are always off. When i take the car in to be checked after paying a fee of course. They say there's nothing wrong with them and they just put air in the tires.thanking you in advance for your help in this matter.

I'm currently transporting elder clients without any airbags in my vehicle for the past six weeks. There was a recall on the 2006 cts, but not the sts for the same issue. There are numerous complaints online about the same issue on the 2006 sts. My dealer refuses to honor my request to repair the passenger seat sensor (which controls the airbags) under recall. Thank-you!

A dec '10 press release (http://media.gm.com) announced a recall of 2005 - 2007 cadillac cts' for a specific air bag issue in the front passenger compartment.paragraph 5 of the release reads in part "owners of certain other 2005-2007 that have significantly lower incident rates will be provided free repairs for the issue for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles."i drive a 2006 sts (vs cts) and have not received an 'owners letter.'the car, however displays the exact characteristics of the air bag failure described in the release.the indications occurred no more than two weeks prior to the 12/10 publication.numerous contacts with cadillac customer service have resulted in refusals to authorize repairs to my car.one csr offered to have the repairs paid for should i pick up the cost of the diagnostics and the error be exactly what the recall specifies.a complaint filed in april with the wi dept of ag, trade and consumer affairs resulted in a call today (5/16) from a rep of gm's business resource center advising that they will again refuse my request because "...the sts model was not included in the recall."there was no reply when asked whether the sts had been included in testing with your organization prior to the recall.she reiterated that cadillac may pay for repairs after diagnosis.i have every reason to believe that the passenger air bag in my car would fail if needed.i also believe that the two models share a significant-enough level of engineering, parts and assembly that cadillac should take responsibility. Considering (1) the issue isn't a potential problem but actually exists in my car, and (2) their reference of "...certain other 2005-2007 models" indicates their/your suspicion that the issue crosses over to other models, i find their position that i should pay for the diagnostics unacceptable.my request is that cadillac diagnose and fix my air bag issue at their expense.i intend to pursue the issue through the state and other means.updated 05/24/11

Was involved in a side impact car crash where none of the airbags deployed. Car that hit mine was traveling at least 40 mph and i was traveling at least 30 mph at impact.

(1) our 2006 cadillac sts repeatedly fails to sense the occupant in the passenger side of the vehicle and fails to trigger the passenger-side air bag sensor to activate. This is a safety issue. The only way the sensor will activate is if the passenger squirms around in the seat in an awkward way to have the sensor sense the occupant. But this is not always possible and on two occasions the passenger airbag sensor actually shut off after a refueling operation and restarting the vehicle even though the passenger never left the vehicle and had not changed position.(2) failure of the passenger sensor to sense an occupant, if not noticed by the driver, or passenger and taking action to attempt to reset it would cause the air bag not to deploy in the event of a collision.(3) the dealership tried for over a week to solve the problem, but would only say that the procedure to activate the sensor requires the passenger to enter and sit in the vehicle in a certain convoluted way that is basically un-natural and impossible for certain passengers to achieve. After repeated calls to gm customer service and raising the issue with the better business bureau we were told that gm engineers are "not allowed to modify the airbag sensor system because it was specified and controlled by the federal government." further " it is against the law for them to attempt to fix the problem even though they sympathize with my problem."(4) from my perspective it appears that some design/engineering constraints have been forced on the manufacturer by the federal government which makes this situation untenable and creates a safety hazard for people who are not able to properly seat themselves in the passenger side of the vehicle. I think the design specs need to be challenged and recalls issued to make the passenger-side airbag sensors properly sense an occupant that any reasonable person would expect to be protected by the passenger airbag system.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag sensor indicator illuminated, which indicated that the air bag system was faulty. An independent dealer stated that the failure was due to afaulty sensor. No additional information was available. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 146,000.

Was involved in a side impact car crash where none of the airbags deployed. Car that hit mine was traveling at least 40 mph and i was traveling at least 30 mph at impact.

October 8, 2006 i was involved in an accident in my 2006 cadillac sts where a truck crossed the median on a four lane highway and hit my car in the side. The impact was so severe it bent the center post between the doors and needless to say i had to be cut out of the vehicle. The side air bags did not deploy. A few days earlier i had taken the car to the dealership with my mother sitting in the front seat and the sign on the mirror read "airbag off". Cadillac assigned a service request number 1-437819043 but to date refuse to discuss this issue with me. Question: has anyone else experienced a similar problem with the airbags? are we riding around with the false impression we are protected??december 7, 2006 i did hear from a cadillac representative today.the cadillac representative advised me my car did not have side and curtain air bags and it was only available as an option.i asked him to give me the option number.needless to say we got into an argument and i told him i could not believe a representative of cadillac would tell me such erroneous information.all those air bags are standard on the sts.apparently this is a very incompetent group of people and i have been assigned to a rock.anyhow they are going to retrieve the airbag monitoring box in an effort to reconstruct what happened.

Stopped the vehicle, placed into park position, shut off car and engaged emergency brake.removed seat belt, driver and passenger opened doors to exit.engine at that time went into a very high rpm making a horrible loud whining noise and auto accelerated in reverse with car in park and emergency brake on.tried to stop the vehicle but brake pedal went to floor.no control of the vehicle and rode the vehicle as it reversed on its own, onto street, through the intersection ,colliding with a parked car and coming to rest with the rear of the car against a building.speed unknown, no airbags deployed, small injuries.

After car had been immobile for a week, attempted to start and engine just clicked and car would not start. I placed the battery on charger without disconnecting from terminals, charge battery for approximately 10 hours. Tried to start vehicle again the next day. It started and i drove directly to an auto parts store (auto zone) and had them test my battery and alternator my system tested good, so i drove for a couple more days, this time i kept a close watch on the battery volts and they kept fluctuating up an down. I parked the car for another couple of days and the problem came back again. So i charged the battery again and then took it to a gm dealership and requested they troubleshoot it. They charged me 45.00 and told me everything was good. Now i have the car at home again with a dead battery.i need to find a solution to this un safe problem. The car can shut off at anytime and i won't e able to restart w/o a jump..has there been other complaints similar to mine ?help help!

Keyless door entry unlock fails. The outer handle has faulty wiring with many cars sent in for replacement and no recall performed yet. In this instance, the door lock failing can lock the driver in the car during an accident or fire and, if the person is unresponsive due to the accident, someone on the exterior of the car cannot enter through the drivers door. This poses a significant safety risk that has yet to be addressed. Through my research, it commonly affects 2005 & 2006 cadillac sts model cars with the keyless entry & keyless ignition.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the auto start was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

While driving, the entire panel goes "off" shutting down the car completely. The panel board is completely dark, no electric supply, no gas supply.

This problem started over a year ago and i have had it to the dealer twice and they can no find the problem because there are no codes in the car. While driving the car it shuts down and you lose everthing lights, turn singles, hazards, the dash goes totaly out and the engine stops the best you can do it to pull it over to the side of the road and hope you don't get hit. I have had this happen it town driving and on the highway so it has nothing to do with speed. I have loaned my car to other people and it has happened to them so it is not the driver. I will happen and you pull over put the car in park and it starts right up and you can continue driving and it may happen a mile up the road or it may not happen for a week or a month later and still no codes.

My car has been diagnosed as having 'extended crank'.my local chevy dealer made approximately fifteen attempts at fixing it to no avail.i'm told it's the check valve, but i have not had that done because all attempts by the dealer didn't work; e.g., new computer (and removed), battery (and removed), fuel pump, etc.very frustrating and i feel it's a matter of health and safety because the car almost never starts on the first attempt, and sounds like it's a dead battery.

4/14 - car was shutting off intermittently, pulled over in hotel parking lot and a gentlemen came up to car to tell me that it was smoking, got out and there was a fire at the rear of the car.ran into hotel and got fire extinguisher to put it out, had towed to repair shop.there determined that the terminal on the top of the fuel pump over heated and melted a hole in the top of the pump, causing fuel to leak out and catch fire -$6000 worth of damage, only used parts available to fix car.8/14 recall was released about fuel module and harness. 6/15 - called dealer about unrelated issue (door lock), vin# was ran and was told parts were available to fix recall.i mentioned i did not receive the letter that parts were available and was told dealer had to order them, 4 days later parts came in and work was scheduled.car was there for 10 days "having trouble getting parts". When car was picked up the fuel gauge was now off only reading 3/4 when full and check engine light on. Told harness is not available to finish recall and it will take care of both problems.this safety recall is beyond a reasonable amount of time for repair.the dealer should not have torn into car if all parts were not available.car is due for inspection 9/15 and as it currently stands it will not pass inspection due to the check engine light being on and now the gas gauge does not read at all.this has been a huge inconvenience and am very displeased with the lack of support from cadillac and the dealership. I now have a vehicle that i can not get parts to fix recall, will not pass inspection, and i can not sell it or trade it in.

I am a mechanic and have worked on numerous vehicles recently that are model 2006 cadillac sts.safer car.gov needs to make engineers aware that this car is a death trap. Gm should have this vehicle added to the ignition recall list. It makes no sense to me amechanic that gm has models cts and dts but not the sts on the recall list, especially since they are all the same car. It's not like the cars have a different ignition , they all come ofd the same assembly line and stamped a different model name for various pricing points and target markets.please don't ignore my message as this is a very vital topic.

2006 cadillac sts.consumer writes in regards to vehicle ignition problem.the consumer stated as he neared the highest elevation of the highway, other vehicles were going about 58-60 mph, and the crest flattened, the speed increased almost automatically, as the resistance deceased. After a few hundred yards, the consumer realized he had no power under his foot, the dash lights went out with no engine condition indicators displaying, the only light on the dash was a lighted "d" indicating the transmission was in drive. Despite the vehicle being in gear, the vehicle was coasting at 70 mph.upon inspection, the start button and ignition switch failed.a few weeks earlier, the vehicle stalled while at a stop light. He immediately re-stared the vehicle.on a separate occasion, the consumer experienced a lapse of power.

Car stalled on busy street and would not restart. After later investigation it turns out that the electrical connector in fuel module assembly shorted out and melted the plastic connector. It also melted part of the bottom side of the top of module. Gm has recalled earlier models of vehicles for the same situation. I believe this to be very dangerous for multiple reasons:stalling on busy street and not being able to restart, fuel leaks due to hole melting in module top, and its a fire hazard.

The engine shut off when i was driving on a side street at 20 mph, and also shut off 5 times as i was driving on the highway at 65 mph.the cluster panel turned off, but the radio stayed on.the odometer showed a message engine control module (ecm).i pulled over, put the car in park, and restarted the vehicle each time.the cadillac dealership said that rear axle pinion seal was the only recall for my sts, but i am experiencing nhtsa campaign number: 06v020000 , and nhtsa campaign number: 06v007000 also.

When making right hand turns, the car stalls temporarily not allowing me to accelerate or acclimate to oncoming traffic.while this is happening, the traction active symbol is displayed on the dashboard.within a few seconds it seems to all work again, however it seems to be a safety issue as other cars are either assuming i will be at their speed, or assume i am allowing them to go when in fact i am stuck.i have 3 children in the car and i am becoming scared that this may cause an accident and is a major safety concern.

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle lost power while the service stability warning light illuminated. Car lurched to left into oncoming lane, braking as it veered left. Had i been driving 70 on freeway, i believe there would have been a major accident.

After purchasing a used 2006 sts awd from cadillac nj in december 2009, wife noticed while making right hand turns on smooth pavement, car seems to stall temporarily not allowing me to accelerate for a few seconds and message traction active is displayed. January 18, 2010,i brought the car back to dealership to complain. They saidprob bad gas in lines. Put new gas in and gas treatment for water in tank. Did that, didn't help. February 1, 2010 i returned to dealership to complain it was still doing it on occasion. I asked if there were any complaints on this vehicle. Got a no response. May 2010 brought car back to dealership to complain. By this time my wife has refused to drive it for safety reasons (people think she is letting them into oncoming traffic when car slows down). Looked on internet and found other complaints. I was told gm engineering is aware of issue and are working on solution. Made complaint to gm in sept 2010 was told software update will be ready in 2 months. After getting dodged for 2 1/2 more years, made second complaint to gm april 2012.gm executive stated i can use a rental due to the seriousness of the condition losing power while driving. They said it was fixed. A week later it started again. Gm executive and service manager of cadillac called to say that the car was designed that way. There is no fix on it. I told them the 2011 sts rental i drove did not have any problem losing power while in a turn. They said it is a different system. I said "so there was a problem with the old system" . I was let out of the door with an offer from gm exec's, $4,500 off price of a new car at their dealership. I asked, what about safety? i told them i own a car that my wife refuses to drive due to loss of power.i only drive car because my wife drives my truck. Gm knows of this safety issue. I was traveling through the countryside on my way home from work. My car suddenly stalled, i lost control of the vehicle and slammed into an on coming car in the other lane. This caused permanent traumatic brain injury as our airbags never deployed causing us to slam our heads off windshield and side door window.

1) on interstate i-495 long island expwy, car moving slow came from on ramp straight across to middle lane. Went to accelerate to pass in left lane and engine stopped. Putted on emergency flashers and was able to pull into hov shoulder and restart engine. 2) on northern state pkwy (2 lanes only) on long island, ny and was in right lane- saw oncoming traffic merging ahead and went to give gas to move over to left lane and engine stopped. Again- moved to shoulder, restarted engine. 3) was doing 65 on njtpke i-95n in left lane between cars and trucks on right. Engine stopped (no acceleration- just straight driving). I was between vehicles and no place to pull over- put car into n and restarted and back to drive. This happened again- did same thing. When it was clear- pulled over to right shoulder- turned car off and restarted and continued trip.** could this be part of the recent recall on caddys 2005-11 but did not include sts's???? just for the record- have new air filter and sprayed both the maf and throttle body valve with correct cleaners- recently- after seeing a video on caddy complaint forum.

On thursday 18 may 2017, while driving north on interstate 405 in heavy traffic at normal speeds, the engine began to miss out; and the brakes lost power assist.the problems persisted and worsened, so i exited the freeway to surface streets and began the trip back south on interstate 405 to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and repair.when stopped on surface streets (and on the freeway), it was necessary to shift to neutral and add fuel to the engine to keep it running.also, it was necessary to apply extra strong pressure on the brake pedal because of the lack of power assist.after arriving at the dealer and shutting off the engine, the mechanic could not get the engine to restart.after extensive exposure of engine internal parts, dealer diagnosis was that a rocker arm had broken at one of the cylinders, resulting in debris falling through the valve opening into the cylinder and scoring the valve seat and the piston.the dealer recommended replacing the engine. -- at that time, the vehicle had accumulated 83,000 miles of moderate driving, and was only a little over 11 years old.the vehicle was purchased new from the dealer in december 2005, and had been maintained exclusively by that dealer since the vehicle was purchased.subsequently, a new (remanufactured) engine was purchased from and installed by the dealer at a cost of $12,678.25.the vehicle was with the dealer for a total of six weeks to complete the repair and installation.-- clearly, had the engine completely failed while driving on the freeway, intensive action would have been required to safely exit the freeway and to bring the vehicle to a stop (especially because of loss of power assist on the brakes).this would have placed my passengers in very high danger and personal risk.

The car spark plugs keep going out and the car is make a clicking noise it is silender 1 and 3.

While driving, the entire panel goes "off" shutting down the car completely. The panel board is completely dark, no electric supply, no gas supply.

Purchased 2006 cadillac sts built on june 21 2005 last day of 2005 model. Car has had all the issues that 22005 vehicle had. June 23rd 2005 was first day of production. At every corner vin # are noted however for this model the build days which noted by cadillac are the important factors.i don't think coincidence that i've been companling to cadillacand asking for help with zero help. Catalytic converter was extended warrantee for 200000 and 12 years however cadillac always says vin even though dates are the only thing noted.i have called and e,ail for 3 years. My car is off road and they have refused to look and even if i paid they wouldn't guarantee they would even look at the issues.my car is in absolute limbo neither a 2006 or 05 or whatever.they have refused every step even though it was based on recalls

The fuel delivery system has been failing in the same manner that i have seen many other cadillac owners have gotten repaired through a recall already in place. Every single time i put gas in the tank the car refuses to turn on with the first attempt. The only way to get the car to turn on is after multiple attempts and finally enough fuel gets delivered to the system. Similarly, the car will hesitate or feel like no gas is being delivered to the engine while driving on the highway. Often, it will cause a dramatic drop in speed causing a dangerous situation. Gm definitely needs to take this into consideration because it is faults equipment rather than wear and tear. Also, there seems to be a some major issue with the oil system in the car. One week after a synthetic oil change, there is over 1 quart of oil missing in the reserve. There has been over 4 quarts missing at a time.

Hello,i purchased a 2006 sts v8 last january. Since then i have had to replace all four tires immediately, a starter, and the brakes and then replace front brake pads again. I recently went to auto shop and was told catalytic converter and suspension need to be replaced.after investigation i realized there was recalls on the 2005 sts v8 model for the brakes, suspension and the catalytic converter has an extended warranty of 12 years and 200000 miles.the fact is that further investigation showed my car was built in 2005 and the actual manufacture date on vehical was 6/20/2005 which was last date of production for the 05 model. The 2006 manufacture or build date began on 6/23/05. It seems odd all the recalls for the 05 model are all the year old vehicle are faced with. I called cadillac and they said although the build date of vehicle is valid the vin number is what is followed. However, further research shows they actually found the same recall on the 05 catalytic converter on a 2007 cadillac.everything points to the fact that the my 2006 model was actually either a late model of a 2005 by the build date of 6/20/05 and or the same parts have been used as the 2005 recall. Lastly the vin number when i pulled up on a site showed it was actually a cts model.i have spent a lot of time and have a great deal of data i could share that would back that my 2006 sts v8 actually is part of the recall cars. I understand the vin number is what is looked at but when model year cars are being made and sold as different years than when they are produced and recalls effect the year of actual build this becomes very concerning. As in the past year i will be spending over 3000$ plus dollars to fix this car. I.hope you can look into. As they wont even investigate or give me the serial numbers for the parts being recalled

2006 cadillac cts - check engine light has been on for 2 years; car has been stalling and/or failing to start when weather is called since march, 2007.

The vehicle caught fire without cause at a walmart parking lot.when i came out of the store my car was on fire. The fire started in the door panel of the drivers side. I have no idea what caused the fire. Sterling heights fire dept was on the seen and put the fire out. My car was totaled.

Catalytic converter failed at approximately 83,000 miles.check engine light comes on and the manufacturer and the dealer replaced the converter.at 93,000 miles, received check engine light warning again and the code indicates that the catalytic converter is a problem.the side affect is that the car lacks power when having a need accelerate.gm has recalled the 2005 converter, but not the 2006.

Car stopped running while traveling on a freeway doing 70 mph with no warning.total loss of power, a/c, brakes, steering, and windows (loss of all power assisted functions and accessories).

Certain times while driving, the traction assist comes on, and all power is lost to the engine. Lights are still on, car is still on, but gas does not accelerate and car is hard to steer. I have had to pull over 6 times in the last few months, turn the car off, restart and hope it does not happen again.

Leaks fuel if you fill the tank to capacity. This was an earlier recall, exact same thing happening again.

This complaint pertains to gm recall #14405-2.also listed under the national highway traffic safety administration campaign id number of 14v542.here is my issue: when a manufacturer, in this case cadillac, issues a recall that is an inconvenience to their customers, why doesn't the government require them to give a loaner car and/or additional compensation to the vehicle owner to cover the cost and hassle of taking off work and getting a rental car to use?i asked the dealership, the cadillac customer service line representative, ahmed, and the cadillac customer service supervisor, michelle for a loaner car and the request was denied.i think that as part of the cost of recalls the manufacturer should limit the customer's inconvenience to an absolute minimum.please consider requiring manufacturers to provide a loaner car when a recall is issued in the future.this is not a "free" repair if i have to take time off of work and pay for a rental car.also the need for this repair has been determined by the government and/or the manufacturer's lawyers so that further cost and lawsuits will not be incurred.you would think that the manufacturer would want to limit delays in getting repairs done due to additional costs and inconvenience to the owner of the vehicle.

While driving, the entire panel goes "off" shutting down the car completely. The panel board is completely dark, no electric supply, no gas supply.

Airbag light is on telling you to service airbag. I took it to the shop they fixed it, 1 week later came back on. They said it has to do with the seat belt buckle. They said the part thet you connect to secure you in the seat belt needs to be replaced. Until then the airbag light stays on saying service airbag but it's really not the airbag it's the seat buckle. I was in motion on city street.

I got up one morning to do to my fathers house . While i was driving , i heard a popping sound coming from the passenger seat. I thought maybe it was something in my door pocket bouncing around. I continued driving but a few minutes later ,i saw smoke coming from under the passenger seat.

Seat bezels on right side broke 5 times on left side 1 time these hold the controls for the seats when they break lose the wires rub on the stamp metal frame of the seat witch could short them causing a fire. They do not how to fix the problem they just replace with the same part..

The contact owns a 2006 cadillac sts. The contact stated that the plastic molding which surrounds the seats broke off at least three times. The molding houses the wiring system which controls the seat adjustments. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions, where the molding was replaced under warranty. The failure continued to recur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would contact the dealer to obtain more information about the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 74,000. Updated 9/13/11 the left front seat switch trim panel was broken. Updated 10/28/11

I have had to have the right seat bezel replaced4 times when the bexel breaks the seat control wires rub on the sharp edges of the seat frame. They keep replacing it. The tech manager said it is a bad design there is nothing they can about but keep replacing it...this has been over a two year time period.

Car (2006 cadillac sts) was being driven, three occupants in vehicle, when brakes were applied.brake pedal became soft and went to the floor upon braking for an intersection.through pumping the brakes, car was able to be stopped.the brake warning light came on.car was limped home at approximately 15 mph.tow service was called and car was taken to dealership from which it was purchased (a non cadillac dealership).that dealership checked the issue and stated that all four metal brake lines were severely corroded.the car was then sent to the local cadillac dealership, which also stated that all four metal brake lines had corroded to the point to where they were all leaking.the background on the car is that we are the second owner.it was purchased seven months ago (feb. 2012) from the used car inventory of a local toyota dealership.the car was a local trade-in.the area that the car has been in since new is the piedmont area of south carolina, 70 miles from the coast, an area with mild winters (rare to get snow or ice).concern is the complete, simultaneous failure of all four metal brake lines in a car that is less than 6 years old, which has resided in a mild climate.as of this writing, the brake lines have not been repaired/replaced; currently trying to work to resolve this issue with all parties involved.

I lease a 2006 cadillac sts with 35,000 miles driven.for the past 6,000 miles, an increasing thumping noise has been emanating from the front wheels. I brought it to the cadillac dealer i got it from (country cadillac gmc buick, huntington, ny) and their brief synopsis indicated that the tires were worn out, because there are flat spots on them causing the thumping.the problem is, cadillac explicitly warranty?s the tires from defects for full replacement during the bumper to bumper coverage of 5 year/50,000 miles. I contacted michelin to discuss warranty coverage and they instructed me to bring the car into a service center to analyze for warranty.their analysis indicates that any wear of this type is mechanical in nature, and it is a root cause within the front end of the car.i contacted cadillac customer service specifically (and adamantly) requested that a regional representative from cadillac come to the dealership to review the carwith me & the dealers service manager.after fully disclosing all the information about the tread life (which michelin clearly claims that there is a minimum of 3/32" active life left before the low level indicator bands are breached) and that the "flat spots" are not normal tread wear, and that i require a meeting to review the situation.i received a call back from the customer service representative informing me that this is also not a warranty issue.this is the problem.i know that my car has an inherent problem.this wear irregularity is currently a serious safety issue, and i need new tires before an incident happens.my contention is this; cadillac is ignoring the underlying problem, blaming it on "worn out" tires, when in fact there is a major problem.i will replace these tires, but the point is cadillac really should, and also should actively be reviewing the car front end for defects; one which deteriorates critical safety components on my car.

Service said problems on 2006-07 sts's.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

A high pitch fire alarm noise intermittent going off inside vehicle sometimes deafening, causing the driver to loose all attention andcovering ears from sound. The sound seems to be radiating from the 15.1 bose sound system. This problem may present itself at different times weather car is stationary or moving at freeway speeds. This problem has been found in other models ie: cts, sts, srx, and other cadillac models with this sound system. It seems to be present in model years 2002-2010.

Front passenger door does not always open from the outside while stationary, and/or in park, or whether the engine is running or off. If this car is ever in an accident, emergency workers would have to take extra steps, and valuable time, to try to successfully extract any victim from the passenger side. I see it has been reported before!

All cars and suvs manufactured by gm's cadillac division have been built with instrument panels (ips) that do not allow the driver to know how fast he is going above a certain speed when the speedometer has been calibrated in kmh.the us is now a metric country and all measurement systems should be in both english and metric calibration.every other domestic and foreign manufacturer is required by law to have ip speedometers that read in both systems.these speedometer faceplates have a larger mph reading and a smaller kph one below it so that drivers always know how fast they are driving all the way up to the top speed of the vehicles.but not so cadillac.cadillac only has one numeric reading on the speedometer face.the speedometer face therefore reads to 160 in the case of the cadillac srx for example.however if the driver decides to switch the ip to metric he will not know how fast he is going above 160 kph which is 100 mph.you might say so what since you are not allowed to legally drive 100 mph plus in the us.perhaps, but many people take their cars to mexico, canada and europe - all places where those speeds are either tolerated or in some cases legal.if cadillac continues to sell vehicles with this quirk they should allow as an option the ability to get the kph graded speedometer (ie the one sold in canada, mexico, europe, china, japan, australia and everywhere else).it is a safety issue to always know your correct speed in the two systems mandated by us law.

Certain times while driving, the traction assist comes on, and all power is lost to the engine. Lights are still on, car is still on, but gas does not accelerate and car is hard to steer. I have had to pull over 6 times in the last few months, turn the car off, restart and hope it does not happen again.

Car lurched to left into oncoming lane, braking as it veered left. Had i been driving 70 on freeway, i believe there would have been a major accident.

After leaving the dealer the contact notice a recall via the interment regarding the vehicle speed control (06v007000). The vin was not a part of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs since this was a known safety issue. The failure mileage was 65,000.
