The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving less than 10 mph the air bag deployed and the vehicle stalled. The driver was hit on the shoulder and the back of the neck by the air bag. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who advised him that the failure was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was damaged and the repair cost was $2,800. A claim was filed with the manufacturer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 6,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving out of a parking lot and making a right turn, the air bags deployed without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
Front end collision into side of 2007 chevy suburban at 40-45 mph.dry road conditions.air bags did not deploy.
I was in a car accident along with two other passengers and none of the air bags deployed
I just brought this suv sept. 2014. Last week i was going around a curve. The rear end swerved and the tires rolled over the curve. The air bags deployed and the car stopped, the car was towed to a cadillac dealer.( weeks before i found out about the recall on the air bags, seat, suspension and seat belt.) so, when i told the adjustor about the recall he just brushed it off and said," it's not the recall.". I don't think the adjustor worked for an outside company. I need to get my car independently checked so i can find out if it was the recall items. How could my air bags deploy from going over the curve? the car has no damage... None! i think the dealer does not want to fix the recalled items or they fixed them wrong. Because my driver seat was making some crazy sounds the weeks before the airs bags came out. Plus, i told the dealer and he said all the work was done to the car. I think their lying....is there a government place i can have the car checked or can you send someone?can you please help me? thank you for your time.
I just bought this vehicle two days ago and now realized it loses power while driving (in-motion) and then jumps as if it wants to cut off.at the time, i was driving on a city street and as i tried to accelerate, the problem occurred.this is very dangerous and scary because it can cause a crash or cause other cars to rear-end it.also, it says airbag needs servicing.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While the vehicle was stopped, the front air bags deployed without warning or impact. The contact was able to resume driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and registered that the vehicle would flip over and cause the air bags to deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srs. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated for forty five minutes. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to locate the failure. The failure mileage was 12,500.
Hit head on by truck going approx. 45 mph that swerved into my center turn lane.front end demolished - car was totaled - but air bags did not deploy.seat belt did not lock on impact. Side of my head hit driver's window or frame - was catapulted forward and caught in seat belt when it pulled out all the way, resulting in horrific and painful chest, abdomen and left leg injuries (soft tissue).
Low beam head lights are extremely dim can't see nothing past the hood of car, have tried replacing head lamps twice with no improvement, night driving can only be done with hi beam causing me to blind other drivers.i keep getting service air bag warning whenever a passenger is in the passenger side of the car took it to a dealership but they was unable to find the problem .
The passenger side airbag light will turn to off with a passenger in the seat.it appears to occur when the passenger changes position/shifts their weight in the seat.the service airbag light will trigger until the sensor finally responds and turns the airbag back on.i have read where this is a recall in other make & models but different year.
I was in a minor collision. Ran into the back of someone. My airbags didn't deploy and my engine immediately caught on fire and in a few minutes my whole care was on fire and destroyed. There was no known reason how or why the fire started.
My name is[xxx] and i represent[xxx] and her family. She leased a cadillac srx on july 6, 2010. On december 4, 2010 the side air bag deployed injuring the driver without an accident. The insurance determined it was a manufacturer defect. To date, the manufacturer is refusing to repair. A recall for the 2011 srx was released today. It is obvious their is defective engineering in the air bag system.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Since the sunroof drain tube dislodged causing water to leak inside causing an electrical short. The computer doesn't sense the driver door. You can drive with the door open and no ajar warning. The window doesn't go up or down. The radio and interiorlights do not go off once you exit the vehicle. It shuts off automatically after 10mins as oppose to shut off when you open the driver door. There's a class action lawsuit regarding this problem
Car had been turned off and parked for 4 hours. Left rear tail light began to smoke and caught fire melting left rear of vehicle within minutes of fire dept being notified. Fire was put out by fire department before vehicle would have exploded.
I was making a turn on to a local highway and it just powered off it did restart. Second time was dec 2014 i was in stalled traffic moving real slow and my car just shut off but this time it did it three times in a short period of time same as first time and im pretty worried cause im planning another trip in two weeks to wisconsin.
My dashboard went completely black and the gauge needles moved quickly back and forth.i was traveling on the highway at about 60 miles/hour.dashboard was black for 30-60 seconds.car continued to function.
Tailgate will not stay up. If it would have hit my wife, it would been a disaster. Fortunately, she got out of the way in time. The car was stationary when my wife tried to open the tailgate. Tailgate will not stay up.
Headlight warning message that a headlight was out.several new bulbs were tried but did not correct the problem.also, water accumulation inside the headlight assembly.suspect problem with false reading to message center.research online indicates this safety problem is not an isolated issue for this vehicle.no attempt to remedy it by general motors.dealer quoted extremely high prices for all associated parts to try to repair.
The sun roof drain tubes came away from the firewall on all 4 sides. Water leaked all over the gas pedal and the break. I have slid off the street trying to break causing damage to a yard. The electrical on the radio system and lights short out because of water getting into the dash. The back hatch has water leaking directly into the circuit board that controls it and not will not allow the hatch to open.
My wife has complained several times over the last year about sudden acceleration by her car.i did not pay much attention until she hit a car in a parking lot because her car jumped forward.no one was in the other car and my wife was not hurt.it happened again about a week ago so i took it to the dealer.they made some software adjustments suggested by general motors including one that read "addressing long hesitation/delays occurring when driver coasts to around 10mph and steps into an aggressive pedal".
My tail gate lift opens on it's own even when the switch inside the car in in the off positionwhen the car is parked
Water drain from moon roof separated and water fluid ed the vehicle short in out many components.took in for service had to pay $1900. This should have been covered i feel that this repair shouldhave been completed at no cost to me. Being that there were at least five other vehicles in the samedealer repair shop at the same time. Spoke to the technician repairing the car before mine and was told he knew actually what the problem was.he showed me that the drain tube came from the factory pulled to short and tight and when there is a heavy rain the run off caused the tubing that run down the front windshield end pillars to separate which then leads to water filling the interior cabin of the vehicle,in between the doors, over the dash and it's interior components, down into the lift gate and onto the interior flooring which it had and flooding it.
Loss of power steering, brakes, and engine while doing 65 mph on major highway.total shutdown.went immediately to dealer.checked car computer.said everything was fine; nothing to fix.really shook up wife passengerand me.hasnot happened again.am reporting this years later because of current gm compact car ignition problems.
The radio has power but no sound .th door ajar chimes dont work and turn singnals dont click this is a internmentproblemthat could last up to a few daysdoesnt matter where im driven than every thing starts workin till the next time it happens
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the driver side low beam headlight failed to illuminate. The dealer diagnosed that there was water intrusion and that the light fixture needed to be replaced. The dealer did not specify if a seal fractured or if there was a remedy for the short circuit electrical failure other than replacing the low beam head lamp assembly. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that there was no manufacturer recall to cover the repair. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Tonight sept. 25th, 2016 it happened again. My dashboard went completely black for a minute or two. The first time it happened was several months ago and i thought it was a temporary glitch. Both incidents occurred while driving home at night on the freeway doing 70-75 miles/hr.i'm not sure if the headlights went out as well because i'm too focused on remaining calm and keeping my eyes on the road preventing an accident from happening. The car was in motion on the freeway while this occurred. This first time it happened i was driving straight down the freeway. The second time it occurred i was exiting and taking a curve on the loop.i don't know what it'll take for a recall to happen but i hope it won't take a deadly crash to occur before they decide to have a recall for this issue. I've read on other sites this problem is a known fact with the company and yet no action has taken place to remedy this. Someone do something!
The front light headlight assembly seals wore out and the headlight blew out while we were driving home in the rain, at night. Water penetrated the headlight which is what caused the lamp to blow out. I called gm and they played dumb and said they had never heard of this problem. Yet as i was at the dealership to get it fixed there were other 2010 models driving in with the exact same problem. Gm would not extend the warranty to cover this, as the warranty was over 4 years but still under the 50k miles. At $1400 each to replace these headlights, they need to fix this defect. Additionally, they are going to kill someone if these headlights keep blowing out at nighttime in the rain.
Faulty headlamp that i keep having to replace something on it because it keeps going out and ac will not get cold on level 1,2, or 3. It's giving faulty codes.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle vibrated severely and jerked before suddenly accelerating independently. The contact mentioned that the brakes did not respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the hand brake failed to operate when engaged. In addition, the instrument panel warning lights flickered. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Headlights have condensation in them & visability is almost non -existant...i cannot drive the vehicle after dark in fear for myself or other drivers...
Water leaks into the headlightspoor lighting . Almost have a accident
Headlamp condensation causing lamp to go out sometimes will come back on. Should not be happening. Never had another vehicle have this issue. Should be a recall to fix this expensive condensation and lamp. Police enjoy stopping vehicles with no light! this has beenoccuring over last 6 months more off than on. Rain really makes worse. Condensation never completely goes away and inside indicstor light stayson all the time 24/7. #2 another issue is sun roof will not shut. Window will close but cover stops half way and will not advance any further. Had taken tobaker cadillac in charleston, sc for service march 1 2016. Worked on it for 2 days and told not fixable. Why is it not fixable? recalls should be issued on these problemssrx owners are having on these luxaury vehicles.
Driving in a heavy rainstorm, increased velocity of wipers to high.they froze & all warning lights on the dash board lit-up indicating numerous problems such as abs, traction control, etc. Extremely dangerous driving on a three lane road at dusk with non wipers/visibility.
This vehicle is pretty good but what has frustrated me for a couple of years now is because my wife drives this vehicle and the ligths are almost non-existent the headlights are horrible for a while it appeared there was a lot of moisture and water in headlights and now we have to use brights in order to see anything. I was a price of 1600 for both lights to be fixed and i am a pastor and do not have that kind of money for lights. Please help me.i also within the last couple of years am now having issues in and out with radio and the screen not moving up or down at sporadic intervals. Sometimes it works and others it does not.
The headlights get moisture in them causing headlights to barely work.i can't see anything at night. It is so dangerous! california and florida have had successful lawsuits over the issue and cadillac's owners are getting reimbursed. Why can't we get reimbursed in minnesota?
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the front passenger low beam headlights shorted more than twice. The bulb was replaced by the contact. During the third failure, the bulb failed to illuminate. The contact was uncertain as to what was causing the failure. The dealer (james hodge chevrolet of broken bow, 1207 s park dr, broken bow, ok 74728, (888) 592-3964) inspected the vehicle and provided testing to check for moisture within the headlamp assemblies, but was unable to determine a remedy to prevent the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 116,003.
Vehicle has an electric operated rear hatch. Vehicle was in the garage, not running and wife had opened the rear hatch and was removing items from the back when the hatch activated and closed on it's own, knocking her down and pinning her under the lid. She managed to free herself but received bruises on her arm and a sore neck.
The headlamp on the driver's side filled with condensation and water. The low beam went out. It came back on after a frost. It went out again while i was driving. The next day the high beam and other lights were out. Today, the high beam is working. Because of the faulty headlamp, i received a ticket. Some 2010 cadillac srx vehicles have a recall for this problem, others don't. Minedoesn't because it is from another factory.
Front passenger headlight has moisture in headlight assembly. After reviewing several gm/cadillac websites it appears this is a known issue with srx owners and is only replaced under warranty. Light will short out over time and stop working according to other owner reports. Vehicle was recently purchased and current owner noticed the issue.
I was rear-ended while i was stopped in traffic. There was minor damage to my rear bumper however this caused numerous issues with my car immediately thereafter. I experienced numerous electrical issues and then it got worse. I lost steering, brakes and and the engine stalled. The car became immobile and had to be towed to the dealership. After they serviced the vehicle, they found that the battery shorted out and the ecu had failed.i believe that because the problems occurred immediately after the collision that it was the collision that triggered them. I feel that this is a design flaw that could be very dangerous in such a situation.
The idiot light or gauge light came on indicating that there was an electrical problem. We brought the vehicle right back to the used car dealer and he sent the vehicle down the block to the gm dealerwho found some corroding wires , he supposedly fixed them. A couple days later the light came on again and w brought the vehicle back to the used car dealer who again brought it to the dealer where the cadillac was found to be heavily corroded in the harness areaby the drivers side.. They told us that there might have been a leaf clog by the windshield and the wipers preventing proper drainedge. And the water backed up into the car. They supposedly changed the harness under the drivers mat. A couple of months later we noticed that the whole drivers sidewindow was very wet..we dismissed this incident with a mutual befuddlement. A couple of months later the whole drivers side window was frozen on the inside of the car. Weekend of figured it had something to do with the drivers window being wet month earlier. Now here it is in march of 2014 and my wife was looking for something in the car and she happened to touch the passenger front floor matt right after a heavy rain and she found the floormat soaked she got out the wet-dry vac and pulled near a half a gallon of water from the rug underneath the floor mat.
Car shook bad and made it hard to make turns, i broke down on the side of the road and had to buy a new drive shaft
There was a recall on the low beam headlight plug assembly on the 2010 srx. The faulty plug would cause the lowbeam headlights to not function. The plug would allow for the high beams to work properly but the plug would not allow the halogen lowbeam said to work. David taylor supposedly fixed this problem however a few years later the lowbeam headlights became completely inoperable causing the driver to have zero visibility while using the headlights. The highbeams would work perfectly. I argued with the dealer that it had something to do with the plug however they insisted that the problem was that the light assembly because of faulty manufacturing allowed water to enter the low beam lens and in turn cloud the lens. I insisted otherwise because there was visible condensation in the headlight assembly but none in the low beams. Unfortunately this situation had me over a barrel because the driver had already been risking their life and other drivers lives on the road while being forced to drive with only high beams or without any illumination of the road way at all. I had no choice but to spend 1500 dollars on headlights. Now regardless of the reason whether it was a faulty manufactured plug or a faulty sealed manufactured headlamp assembly the problems it poses are the same. Cadillac has a poorly manufactured headlight assembly and plug assembly that are endangering people's lives. When these low beams become inoperable the driver has zero visibility and are forced to choose between driving with their highbeams on and blinding other drivers or driving without any headlights which could cause death or bodily harm to the driver or any property or persons that the driver cannot see. Cadillac knows they have a problem but are willing to risk people's lives in order to save a few dollars. They have a faulty product that the nhtsa should resolve before there is loss of life
Purchased 2010 cadillac srx new in 2010. This car was in the dealership garage more times than i owned it in the first 6 month. At 19,200 miles, car would not start. Had it towed to dealer. No problem found. Recharged battery. This battery failed a total of 8 times, finally on oct. 25, 2010, battery was bad, according to dealer, and replaced. Unfortunately, the warranty had run out and i had to pay $249.66. Isn't it strange that the dealer didn't find a defective battery until the warranty ran out. 8 times this battery failed. 8 times i was stranded.
My car shut down while driving. Unable to brake or steer. Very scary incident.
The dashboard panel which displays the backup camera is very erratic.as i put the car in reverse it may or may not rise to display what is behind.if it does rise it may go up and down several times while backing up thus rendering this safety feature (the backup camera) totally useless if not dangerous.
The rear lift gate electronic control module is a manufactures defect. The sunroof drain apparently is a manufacturers defect and does not function properly. It does not drain and as a result allows water to short out and destroy the electronic control module. The first time this occurred was while the vehicle was under warranty. There was a recall on the drain that should have fixed the problem but it did not. The rear lift gate became inoperable again this time becoming completely inoperable. The cadillac dealer david taylor blamed the sunroof drain once again would not warranty their past work nor their future attempts to solve the problem saying only that at any time the drain could become clogged again causing the control module to short out and if it was past one year or twelve thousand miles that i would just have to pay another grand to have it fixed again. So basically a recall item a manufacturers defect that is aresponsibility of cadillac is now a reoccurring problem that is solely the responsibility of the customer to spend a thousand dollars every couple of years for a non weather able item. This is not a motor or transmission or a set of tires this is a design defect that is the responsibility of the manufacturer and therefore the dealer. The rear lift gate is dangerous when operable due to opening and closing improperly erratically and unexpectantly possibly getting an adult child or animals limbs or extremities caught in the lift gate. Also when the lift gate becomes copletely inoperable one might have a limb or extremity caught and not have any means of opening the lift gate manually for when it stops working there is no way to release it. Cadillac is obviously aware of the defective design and manufacture of this unit and are risking consumers safety but just refuse to do anything to resolve the problem. 780000 gm lift gates recalled why not cadillac
Right passenger headlight keeps flooding with water, lights go out cant see while driving. Dealer wants $2,000.00 to replace.this happens very frequently.water leaks on floor and on the electrical of passenger side from sunroof drain, i've been told the drain is too short and disconnects. These are defaults in the car, we should not have to keep paying to have fixed.
Vehicle has a moon roof design that utilizes drain tubes to direct water away from the roof area. The drain system failed allowing rain water to enter the passenger compartment. Water soaked the floor area where wiring was routed to the rear of the vehicle. This caused the wiring harness to fail due to water contamination at the connection points. Rear hatch began to open uncontrollably on multiple occasions. Rear hatch finally failed and would not open under any circumstances. After researching this i found that this is happening to other owners of this type of vehicle.
The whole car is a shame. Wiring harness fell and melted, lost brakes, computer wouldn't allow car to start, stabili track, power steering, radiator all failed. No side panels installed in door jams.
The car states "remote not detected" even though the remote is in the vehicle. This has occurred four times since i bought the car in april 2010! once, the vehicle lost complete power when this occurred on the third time! what would have happened if this occurred while i was driving????
I have noticed that it has been a lot of complaints about the headlights on cadillac srx and it is very expensive just to replace the part. The light joust goes out if your driving or not and it should be a recall on this before someone has a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that water leaked into the vehicle from the moon roof. It was later discovered that the tubes/drain hose failed and caused an electrical short. In addition, the liftgate failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and independent mechanic for further inspection and diagnosis. The contact was not notified of the manufacturer's service campaign (14225) from january 4, 2015 regarding the sun roof drain hose leak. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine if they may be able to provide a solution. The failure mileage was not available.
After a rain storm, my headlights condensed up, then the right lamp went out, after replacing the hei lamp, the left lamp went out. These lamps are vary costly, plus the labor, because gm has a poor seal around the headlamp. The vehicle was parked at the time of the rain.
Every time it rains moisture get in the headlights and they go out until it drys
The rear power lift gate door on my 2010 cadillac srx (23,000 miles) recently started closing suddenly only seconds after opening. During the 2nd time this happened, i was struck on the back of the head and upper back. This is a very dangerous situation and could injure an adult, or worse - a child!cadillac needs to fix this immediately.please let me know what i should do. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the low beam headlight assembly failed to work for the low beams. The contact had to use the high beam headlights as an interim repair each time the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Low beam socket burned.
My power hatch back opens on its own all the time.
One of first new srxs soldin 2009.started with intermittent failure of power windows, followed by failure of nav/radio display and eventually replaced. Then issues with back-up camera screen would not pop up during reverse so could not see or use camera.technicians unable to diagnose problems because the connection port to car's computer failed.seats ripped out and connection rebuilt.auto rear tailgate with safety sense close failed as i reached into get package out as tailgate went up.supports failed causing tailgate to crash down on me trapping me with legs out back of car. Not only did supports strut fail but safety close mechanism failed. Wife had to manually release and raise tailgateto free me. Then ac failed on way back from long trip. Computer issue and part failure according to dealer. Camera and info screen locked up again and was repaired. Two weeks ago while traveling on highway approx. 65 mph engine started shaking completely out of sync with cylinders banging and decrease engine power light came on.without warning and not hitting brakes suddenly lost speed and was almost run over by truck behind us because of abrupt deceleration. Barely had enough power to get off and up exit ramp. Turned out to be computer failure for engine.last weekend while backing up watching mother and child through back-up camera pass behind me , camera failed screen went blank but still showed park assist symbols.screen would not clear but symbols frozen on screen when shifted into drive. Went to home depot came out , car would not sense remote unable to start. Had same issue 1 year previous and remotes replaced. Put remote everywhere in car still could not start. Asked cadillac to ensure me car was safe . They said they could not.asked to get another car until end of lease or out of lease. They said no. I am worried car may have safety failure.
This is a generic safety defect applicable to all cadillac vehicles for last several years and other makes with keyless ignition systems.this has happened before and will happen again if not remedied.i visited a post office today in dayton area.this location has some sort of strong frequency operation in the area evidently on same frequency as fob starting systems.i was unable to lock my car (key does work) or unlock it with fob (again key in door operates door locks).however the fob simply did not start car despite several efforts or after instructions to put in console next to receiver.had this been an emergency i would have been unable to leave the area.the car finally did start but only after a period of time and numerous attempts.if the fob does not register with the system there is no way to start the car.door has key access the rest of the ignition system does not.this is extremely unsafe and needs to e addressed.this is not an isolated incident as to either this location ormake and model of car.
Passenger side head light has ongoing electrical short goes out indicates on the information center then will randomly come back on took it in to the dealer no fix. Also when turning to the left or the right there issqueaking noise from the tires and suspension it gets worse when cold out. To pay 55,000.00 for a car and have ongoing issues. It also got new head gaskets at 51,000 miles and a new transmission at 43,000 because it wouldn't go in to reverse one afternoon. Had to be towed to a dealer was replaced under warranty.
Front headlights are low beam and make it difficult to drive at night. You can only see a few feet in front of the car.
My car has push to start and the keys should detect and start your vehicle when you get in the car. The idol kept saying no remote detected . The only way to start the car was to put the keypad in the middle console. I took it to christians brothers automotive where the diagnostic said i needed to replace the keyless entry module. A week later while i was driving it , the idol on the screen said no remote detected and the car completely shut off while i'm in motion. The only way to start it again was to hold the keypad against the middle console.i took it back to christian brothers where they printed out the technical bulletin that deems this issue to be a known issue since 2010 and that i will have to take it to a cadillac dealership where i will have to pay again for a diagnostic and whatever issues they come up with. Ron carter cadillac doesn't have appointments available for six weeks and because this has not been made a recall, they will not warranty what they know is a known issue with the car. If i continue to pay to repair this module and it shuts off on me in the middle of traffic or at high speeds, i could be seriously injured or killed. I don't understand the purpose of providing a technical bulletin that you don't intend to make a recall when you know it's an issue.
My car was going 70 on the interstate and the reduced engine power signal came on and my car jerked and started powering down. It was a throttle body issue. Now my cars electrical system won't work, and electronic stability control won't work because of small magnets that had poor design. My car windows don't open. The electrical system shuts of while the car is driving and i can't see my steering panel at all.
2010 cadillac srx. Consumer received recall notice. However, the notice stated there would be no charge, but on the second sheet, it stated to submit form reimbursement. *ta
This model has a history of collecting water in front headlights resulting in them shorting out and malfunctioning/failing.cadillac will not recall and they are very much aware of this problem.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving various speeds at night, the headlights failed to operate correctly and the driver was unable to see the roadway. The contact stated that the low beam lights failed so the high beams had to be activated. While the vehicle was at the dealer for routine service, the sun roof was left open and the interior of the vehicle became wet. The vehicle was left at the dealer for three months with water inside the vehicle. The dealer finally replaced the carpet; however, since retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, it experienced electrical issues and the headlights failed to operate correctly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the headlight lenses were cleaned. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issues. The failure mileage was unknown.
The right exterior low beam light was out and the housing unit was full of excessive moisture. On september 2, 2014; bulb replaced; light out again by the end of the month for a week then all of a sudden back on again; then out again and on again; estimated cost of parts were $1,459 plus tax and s.s.now only the running lights on the left and right side are working. Now try 1,459 plus tax and s.s.. Times 2. This is a design flaw. Why so much moisture an electrical lightening unit?the left side does not have a lot of moisture and the light is no longer working. Nothing more upsetting than being away from home, its dark and your vehicle headlights will not come on.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the lights on the instrument panel suddenly turned off. The contact could not see the fuel gauge, speedometer or the tachometer. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle and restarted it; the lights turned back on after the restart. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The failure mileage was 16,000.
I drove the vehicle, parked, and i noticed the engine fan didnt turn off in a reasonable amount of time after parked (over 2 hours). I drove to the dealer only for them to refuse to run a simple diagnostic. Was driving and vehicle being accelerating even after i completely removed me feet; i also looked down witnessed the pedal modulating itself in and out, shortly followed by an abrupt braking incident. I was just able to restart and pull over to emergency stop. I hadnt gotten far from the dealer, so after two hours of waiting for a tow truck, i attempted to drive the truck back to the dealer only to have the same violent braking but this time also followed by a sporadic loss of power steering. I was able to creep the vehicle back to the dealer and control any losses of control, it felt like the vehicle was having a seizure.please investigate my stall, unintended braking, power steering loss, and fan (i imagine this could be a fire issue as well). Thank you
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving 35 mph, the lights on the instrument panel suddenly turned off. The contact drove two miles and the lights except the speedometer became visible. The contact called the manufacturer who took the complaint and stated that a representative would contact him. The failure mileage was 9,017.updated 1/06/11*ljthe consumer also stated the battery died three times. Updated 04/07/11

The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact attempted to start the vehicle but it did not responded. She called the dealership and a technician came out and started the vehicle. The contact later noticed that the vehicle was still having start-up problems. She sent letters to the manufacturer but received no correspondence. The contact requested that the vehicle be traded for another but was informed that she would have to pay more to do so. The current mileage was approximately 3,850. The failure mileage was 367.
While i was driving at a speed of 50 mph the reduced engine power signal came onand it started to lose power and powered down to 18mph and would not go any faster causing me to almost get rear ended, i had took in to repair shop right away, they put it on the scanner and told me that i it was a throttle body issue so i got that fixed the next day the check engine light came on again so i took it back and then they said the timing chain needed to be fixed and then they said to look and see if it was a recalled issue because with only 102,000 miles i had researched and i see a lot of complaints about the same issue with my suv and no recalls, the shop said its a big jobs and its going to cost over 3,000 dollars and the car is only worth 4500 at the present time, also my stability control light stays on they i had already got that fixed on and the light went off but now it is back on the shop said it is due to the poor design on cadillac's part from the small magnetic ring that is attached to the bearing, i have researched this also and i see a lot of complaints about this and again no recall, also when startingmy suv all my panels don't work and if i power down my windows it is very very slow to come back up i have to shut my car off and restart it for everything to work again , i had researchedthis and a lot of complaints but again no recall, also the front head light are constantly fogging up again bad design on cadillac i researched this and again a lot of complaint as well, but no recalls it seem that the 2010 cadillac srx has a lot of defect and nothing is being done about it also this stuff is very dangers and safety issues that are not being addressed and somebody is going to end up dead or is that what cadillac waits for before recalling, it could of been very bad for me if i did end up getting rear ended i was very lucky.
Faulty headlamp that i keep having to replace something on it because it keeps going out and ac will not get cold on level 1,2, or 3. It's giving faulty codes.
The whole car is a shame. Wiring harness fell and melted, lost brakes, computer wouldn't allow car to start, stabili track, power steering, radiator all failed. No side panels installed in door jams.
I took my 2010 srx into dealership due to a loud roaring noise and vibration in the vehicle at 50-60 mph.dealership advised that tires needed to be replaced and vehicle aligned.tires had less than 30,000 miles on them.all tires were replaced and vehicle aligned ($1000.00+).approximately 2 - 3 weeks later, i noticed a loss of power in the vehicle when trying to accelerate.additionally, while stopped at a stop sign or light, vehicle sputtered and shook like it was going to die.this happened on several different occasions.stability trac light come on during this time but then went out.05.01.15, the vehicle completely lost all power to accelerate over 40 mph and has an awful roaring noise. 05.05.15, the vehicle was towed to the dealership& is currently there.received call from dealership that the wheel hub bearings need to be replaced @ $1,100.00+.i am not happy with this solution & do not believe is will fix the current issues with my vehicle, as i should not be having a bearing issue @ 70k miles.i now believe that something more was wrong to have caused my tires to have worn so quickly and poorly.further, there is moisture buildup in both of my headlamps that i predict will cause problems after reading previous consumer complaints without gms acknowledgement.
Faulty transmission. Not shifting properly
2010 cadillac srx "service stabilitrac" light has been coming on for the last year. I've had the shop who ran the code. The code came back as possible fail but inconclusive. The mechanic checked all fuses and entire breaking system and found nothing in need of repair and all systems working properly. To replace the part that "maybe causing" the warning to come on would cost me up to $1200.
Moisture in drivers side headlight due to broken seal. Manufacturer/dealer known issue with these vehicle's causing difficulty seeing at night which is a safety hazard. New headlamps burn out prematurely and can happen at anytime unexpectedly. Also, stability control light randomly comes on, abs light always on.
I have had my car 6 years and it has been in the shop over and over from the engine lights ,stabilize bar, power steering, transmission problem, anti lock brake and traction control light, security light, catalytic convertor, would not start, remote not detected, sunroof leaks, oil leak, seatbelt, brakes problem, gas mile not accurate,
Stabilitrak warning comes on and stays on. While on and making a sharp turn feels like the tires are trying to grip the road like there's no traction. This happens on sunny days with no precipitation. Also can not pick up speed. The stabilitrak warnings been on now for 2 weeks since the last time it rained. I find i'm burning gas quicker since it's on.also sometimes my transmission won't shift into 2nd gear. It happens mainly when slowing down and goes back down to 1st gear but when i accelerate it won't shift back up. It also drops back into first while driving at a steady speed-not slowing down.i have to pull over and put in park then put back in drive in order for it to shift gears. It's scary when this happens on the highway because i have to get to the shoulder because the rpm's shoot way up and i don't want to damage the engine but i don't want to cause an accident either. I've seen recalls for this year and model for this exact same issue but my vin is not on the recall list. I think this is highly unfair. These issues have been going on since i bought this vehicle in january 2016.
The vehicle switches to stabilitrac and abs at the same time causing the engine to not shift into the next gear. This causes the transmission to be over ram and i have to stop the vehicle completely and put it into sport mode and manually shift the gears in order for it to shift gears. The vehicle is in motion at the time of transmission not shifting correctly into the next rpm.
Took vehicle into gm chevy dealer today for tire rotation and oil/filter change. No other issues. Dove vehicle home and noticed two lights on dashboard; abs and stabilitrak. Also message on dic indicating to service abs. No issues before dealer service.
Rakata recall.i was driving on interstate. Car shifted down and would not shift to higher gear for speed traveling causing 8000 rpm that resulted in engine blow.smoke everywhere. Car was towed.i need a new engine due to transmission shifting down plus whatever happened with transmission
Service engine lite on, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor.
The contact called on behalf of a friend who owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was also experienced while attempting to move from a stop. The vehicle was taken to petro cadillac 4012 14th st, pascagoula, ms 39567 where the spark plugs were replaced however, the failure recurred. The contact also took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Purchased 11/16 with 62k miles, 12/16 replaced high pressure steering line, 5/18 replaced all timing chains, 1/19 replaced steering cooler. 2-weeks later lower end rod knock-connecting rod bearing(s) bad. No warning, no sounds and the oil was changed same time as steering cooler replaced. No notice of shavings in oil. Oil has been changed every 3-5000 miles. All service performed at cadillac dealership.$8999 to replace engine. Kbb car trade in value $7300, now $1000 from dealership. At 60 i've owned a lot of automobiles, several cadillac's among themand take excellent care of them. I have a pickup with 243k just to show how well i take care of them. This out of the blue blown connecting rod bearings is highly suspect. Especially just having had the dealer perform an oil change. If the bearings were going bad there would have been shavings in the oil, and would have been obvious. Side note. When i checked the codes before being towed to the dealership it had a p0017 crankshaft sensor. Same code when i had to replace the timing chains.
Car doesn't want to start right away. Almost like it isn't getting gas right away. Have to push gas pedal to get it to "rev" up. Will idle funny when at stops.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise associated with the engine assembly. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the belt and timing chain could fracture and cause catastrophic engine failure. The dealer had not diagnosed the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
My transmission failed when a radiator hose came off and my warranty expired by 3000 miles but i still have it till dec.2018. This happen to me thursday nov..9,2017. Had my suv at gold coasting oakhurst where i purchased it they put hose back on,but they do not want to cover transmission problem

My new car was towed a number of 4 times.first time car was only 6 mos old and had 3000 mi on it. Second and third time heritage cadillac said they were working with engineers from cadillac to try and repair. 4th time they said couldn't fix and car was not safe to drive, could get stranded in it.may or june 2011. Jan 2012, july 2011, may 2012 failure to start/towed in .
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the vehicle endured excessive oil consumption in between oil changes. Also, the check engine indicator was illuminated. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Updated 01/10/17*ljupdated 01/25/17.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently downshift without warning. After a few minutes, the contact would be able to resume normal driving upon restart. The contact called a dealer about the failure and was informed that unless a warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel, they could not diagnose the failure. Recently, the contact stated that while driving out of a parking lot, the vehicle would not shift out of first gear with the check engine warning light illuminated. After, calling her husband for assistance, her husband was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. In january, while my wife was driving the car with children in it, the engine suddenly stopped.luckily, the car behind also stopped and helped her push the car to the side.after a few tries, the engine started again.this happened twice before the car was sent to the dealer for repair.they said transmission was the problem and has been fixed.last sunday, while i was driving on a freeway at 65 mph, the engine suddenly stopped again.i had a hard time steering the wheel but was fortunate enough to cross lanes and come to a stop on a freeway.the car is in the dealer for repair but cadillac just advised that they cannot guarantee whether the car will stop again in the future.the guarantee should come from the dealership not cadillac and since i own it, i should make a decision to drive it or not.is this car safe to drive since my son was in such panic when it happened on the freeway ? just so lucky it was early morning with not much traffic.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving 55 mph, the engine decelerated and the vehicle stopped without warning. The vehicle was able to restarted and the check engine and stabilitrak indicators illuminated. The contact called crest cadillac (2367 s tamiami trail, venice, fl 34293, (941) 584-8540), but they could not assist. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and they provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 125,000.

My service light came on and the dealer said its code ispoo17.the informed me their might be a recall so i am checking to see he said cadillac did have one for 2004-2009

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.
At 96,126, the service engine light came on. Took to cadillac dealer and was told that code p0017 came up and that the timing chain needed to be replaced. Had the timing chain replaced. At 122,962, the service engine light came on. Took back to same cadillac dealer and was told the code p0017 came up again and that the timing chain would have to be replaced once again after only 26,836 miles on the first replaced timing chain.

The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,391.
Low octane fuel was used in the vehicle and it is now making a knocking sound from the engine, lagging on accelerating, and having issues starting.
The timing chain loosens and causes the engine to fail. Average cost of this repair is $2,100 at 88,000 miles. This is a known issue for this engine and previous years were recalled for the same issue.
When i turn the car off the fan will continue to run.i have to either undo the battery or take the fan fuse out.i took it in and no one can tell me why it will not turn off when the car is off.
Engine light on most of the time. Timing belt issue according to test.
Two incidents that endangered my life as well as others. Vehicle with 26,000 miles driving on interstate at 65 to 70 mph all of a sudden vehicle stops computer says engine power reduced traffic behind was lucky able to avoid hitting me. Second incident last week on interstate traffic all stopped due to construction i have little to no brakes fortunately i was able to swerve off to my right situation very very dangerous.
The check engine light came on, then it would go off, on again, off again.the code was p000017.they said the timing chain needed to be fixed.this caused a recall in the 2004-2009 srxs and yet i see there are multiple complaints for the same thing for the 2010s and no recall.there are only 113k miles on this car, that's about 13k per year, mainly highway miles.this should not happen.cadillac dealer wanted to charge me $3800 when without this issue, the car is only worth about $4500.i truly think there should be a recall for this issue as it seems around this mileage, this issue happens based on research that i did.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle started to make an abnormal noise and the service rear axle and engine warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle still made an abnormal noise. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 107,000.vehicle headlight passenger side had to be replaced cost $1,300 known recall. Recalls were not allowed but are known issues with the 2010 srx total expenses. The check engine light came on my 2010 cadillac srx. I took it in for to be checked out and was told the code came up p000017 and that the timing chain would have to be replaced. Price to replace would be $1800.00.
My 2010 cadillac srx4 with 110,000 miles just had the check engine light come illuminate. As i pulled out of my driveway on to a city street the next morning to go to the gm dealership to have the car scanned, the vehicle would only travel at 10 mph.i was almost rear ended by the vehicle coming behind me.i pulled off the road, waited for traffic to clear and took off slowly.after traveling about 200 feet, the vehicle began to operate as normal.however, the same scenario occurred at the next stoplight.i had the car scanned and the code came up as p000017. I was informed that the timing chain would need to be replaced. The estimated price to repair my car would be $ 2,200. 00. I have been to numerous sites and forums and discovered that this is a common problem with these engines. Gm acknowledge this problem with the previous generation srx model but has yet to acknowledge the problem with 2010 model year vehicles. Gm's customer service team simply states that gm is sorry and says that you are welcome to register a complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration. They offered and assigned a case number to myself which basically acknowledged that i called gm. How many more gm automobiles do you think i will purchase?
About a year or so ago while exiting off the highway my car started losing powered and while foot on gas pedal, gas pedal stopped working and merged to the side of the road before shutting off completely, called tow truck and ever since my car loses power when driving put the car in shop and they say it's the time chain/ time change gazer!

2010 cadillac srx:vehicle idle rough and killing i get a engine shut off message and codes p0017 pops up i take to dealership and i am told it's my timing chain that needs to be replace vehicle is still in great condition i got an oil change the day before incident purchased the vehicle 4 years ago .i did research and found that i am not the only person that's having this problem a recall needs tobe done on timing chain.it will cost me 2800 to fix vehicle is still like new besides timing chain

I was in a minor collision. Ran into the back of someone. My airbags didn't deploy and my engine immediately caught on fire and in a few minutes my whole care was on fire and destroyed. There was no known reason how or why the fire started.

Bought vehicle used from southfield quality cars detroit in oct 2017 at 96673 miles. At 100,000 miles check engine light has come on and a code scanner obd2 used has reported a p0017 code that translates to one of three things. 1. Oil drain tube interior engine blocked 2. Sensors 3 timing chain. Have done engine flush, reset code, code came back on next day same code p0017. Why is there no gm recall on this vehicle? took to a repair shop, they replaced sensors, code came back on in a week. Present mileage 106353. Gm dealers want $2900 to fix. My warranty issued by dealer is a gwc warranty. They will not fix/take engine apart to look at timing chain unless something breaks. If timing chain breaks there goes my motor. This is supposed to be a gm flagship vehicle? help!
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving various speeds, the timing chain failed and detached from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle began to jerk back and forth from the rear when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the "service rear axle" warning indicator illuminated. Ryan chevrolet, located at 1800 south broadway, minot, north dakota 58701, diagnosed that the rear axle and the timing chain needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 87,100.
Headlights keeps burning out. Replaced then 2 times since i've had it.engine keeps going out. Bought the car for $25,000. And spent over $5000. On the same problem for the timing chain issue, twice. Replaced all centerbearings within 1 1/2 year. Engine light won't go off.still can't see to drive at night.
Timing chain!!!! only had this truck under 2 years 2010 cadillac srx i go to the mechanic shop he tells me it's a crank shaft sensor he fixes it engine light still on he does some more checking then boom!!! it's the timing chain when big things like this go wrong it should definitely not be out of the purchasers pocket it should be out of the manufacturers pocket this is ridiculous especially when your still paying on the vehicle i'll never in my life own a cadillac again or anything made by this company
Air conditioning system stopped working on a four year-old car.air conditioner used to defrost and cool interior car.when driving, windows can fog up and diminish visibility.in rainy days and nights, the windows fog up and it is not always safe to roll down window to assist in defogging windows.
I bought my srx in may 2011 with 2300 miles on it. In october i noticed a squeaking coming from the front end when i made turns. I took it to the dealer and said i needed new strut mounts. While waiting for the parts to come in, on oct 25 i was driving just off the highway and lost engine power. I was only able to go 15mph while my rpms were running high. The dealer said i needed a new throttle control assembly. On oct 26 the car went in for both strut mounts and throttle assembly. They had my car 4 days. On oct 29 i got the car back but on nov 2, the strut mount noise came back. The dealer informed me to bring the car back in. I brought it to the dealer today and i am waiting for them to call to tell me what the problem is now. I am very dissatisfied with the vehicle and don't feel safe driving it as i drive between 4 states for my job and need a safe vehicle. Cadillac/gm has been contacted several times by my boyfriend and myself about the issues and they have not been helpful or responsive at all. I would expect more considering it's such an expensive vehicle.
On 5/23/14 4 days after i bought this cadillac srx the water pump went out & both hose assembly needed to be replaced due to the hoses split. While i'm in atlanta ga. Visiting. From indianapolis in. To this date the car is still there waiting on ahose assembly that is on back order. I don't understand.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving at speeds of 15 mph, the engine stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where they could not duplicate the failure. Later, while attempting a left turn, the engine stalled a second time. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer advised the contact that there were no defects and released the vehicle back to the owner. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 8 and the current mileage was 1,300.
The contact rented a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving at speeds of 20 mph, the engine stalled and the vehicle began independently rolling backwards. After three attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact informed the rental facility manager of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,047.
Cadillac srx turbo purchased 7/26/10. November 2010 @ 4000 miles turbo failed to operate and poor acceleration, dealer would have to order recall parts and would let me know when available.temporary repair to hose made. In march 2011, (@ 6000 miles) attempted to start cold engine and heard noise, and some smoke without moving car.luckily the car was in my driveway when this "catastrophic engine failure" occurred.car towed to dealer.dealer determined that the piston rod was thrown and put a hole in the side of the engine. Car held while dealer investigated cause. Next day advised of cause and told that correction is replacement of the engine.in march, the service dept. Told me they knew nothing about an engine recall only a turbo hose and power steering recall. Dealer has replaced engine and "done all recalls."i am afraid to pick up the car, and unsure of dealers ethics.i never received any letter of any kind about the safety recalls on my new car.i have never used regular gas in the vehicle.
The car states "remote not detected" even though the remote is in the vehicle. This has occurred four times since i bought the car in april 2010! once, the vehicle lost complete power when this occurred on the third time! what would have happened if this occurred while i was driving????
If you have the remote in your pocket or purse and you bump it while getting into the car you canopen the rear door without realizing it.the rear door opened twice while i was getting in and i didn't realize it had opened till i reached my destination the first time and the second time i didn't realize it till i was driving down the road.i am hard of hearing so i didn't hear that it was open and there was no alarm or indicator light saying the door was open.
The dashboard panel which displays the backup camera is very erratic.as i put the car in reverse it may or may not rise to display what is behind.if it does rise it may go up and down several times while backing up thus rendering this safety feature (the backup camera) totally useless if not dangerous.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the luggage rack rubber chrome strip on the top of the vehicle became loose and fell off. The chrome trip molding fell off the drivers side and left passenger side windows. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would repair the vehicle with the same oem parts. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the low beam headlight was inadequate for night time driving. The vehicle was taken to plaza cadillac (8893 us-441, leesburg, fl 34788) where the passenger's side headlight was replaced however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Headlights are always full of moisture/condensation on the inside
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the passenger side headlight developed moisture inside the headlight assembly, which caused the headlight to burn out. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was not diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the driver side headlight developed moisture. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,124.
Headlights are very dim. Replaced numerous times with higher lumen bulbs but remains dim. Dealer has no idea.
Low beam headlights have become so dim, driving at night is very difficult without using the high beams.using high beams creates a safety issue for oncoming drivers, so this isn't an option.replacing the headlights with oem products is a short term fix as the replacement product is as defective as the original. I've researched this and found this is a known problem on cadillac srx from 2010 to 2015.gm has not issued a recall to resolve this safety hazard they created.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the low beam headlamps failed to illuminate the roadway. In order to properly operate the vehicle at night, the vehicle had to be driven using the high beams. An independent mechanic wascontacted, but a solution had not been determined. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-387-3350820. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
After it rained, i noticed there were 3+ inches of water in the driver side headlight assembly causing moisture buildup. The buildup leads to having no headlights. I have tried covering it up with car covers and drying out the water but nothing has worked. A few months have gone by and the passenger side is now also affected.
During a rainstorm my left headlight stopped working. Took it to dealer and they found that due to a faulty seal water was getting into the light. The whole assembly had to be replaced.cost was over $1300.00.vehicle only has about 63,400 miles on it.after reviewing multiple forums i found that other owners had the same issue.i have serious safety concerns about this problem. Specifically, if the headlight seals are unreliable it could result in head on collisions/accidents during bad weather involving precipitation. What hasn't there been a recall issued?
Headlights have faulty seals causing condensation and water to lay inside the headlight causing the headlights to short out without any warning while driving on the highway at night, this is a very serious safety issue!why is this not a recalll?seems pretty serious 70mph an any second complete darkness
Hid style headlampswhile driving at night the drives low beams quit working.the same thing had happened to the passenger side low beam about a year ago. Roughly, a week or two before the low beams failed the headlamps started-getting moisture build up inside them. Headlamps have never been damaged, hit or bumped.cannot just replace hid bulb, new bulbs will fail due to the moisture problem. Entire assembly must be replaced, price to replace entire assembly is $1,200.00 each not including the labor to remove entire front bumper cover and assembly.
The front headlight assy continues to get water and condensation in it and the head light fails.
I own a 2010 cadillac srx, the low beam headlights are so dim that it makes driving at night dangerous, they are so dim you can not see the road well enough to drive and must use the high beam lights to safely drive, i have changed the bulbs and the problem is still present, there is water inside the fixtures also.
Water gets into the headlight assembly causing the lights to dim and create a safety hazard, caddilac knows of this problem but did not issue a recall only a reimbursement offer that has expired.
Faulty headlamp that i keep having to replace something on it because it keeps going out and ac will not get cold on level 1,2, or 3. It's giving faulty codes.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that moisture was present inside the driver's side head lamp assembly, which caused the headlights to shut off. The vehicle was taken to mark christopher chevrolet (1231 convention center way, ontario, ca) where it was diagnosed that the head lamp assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 22,000. The vin was unknown.
Visibility at night is so poor that i don't feel comfortable driving this vehicle after dark. It is like the lights are working about 30%.i looked online and noticed there is a pattern with this make and model and the poor visibility/lighting at night.this is a horrible safety issue and a recall needs to be issued.consumers expect cadillac to be above the standard and we pay more for that. We should not have these kinds of issues and be expected to pay out of pocket to repair them.a recall should be issued to make these vehicles safe to drive at night.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated while driving 50 mph in the rain, due to the dim lighting on the headlights he failed to see a sofa in the middle of the freeway and crashed into it. The contact stated he did not sustain any injuries nor sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer and repaired the structural damage on the body but did not inform the failure of the dim lighting. The contact stated he continues to experience the same failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Both headlights accumulate moisture inside, causing the light output from the low beams to be almost none existing. It forces me to drive with the high beams on. I have done some research online and there are lots of people complaining about the same thing. I feel gm need's to perform a recall on this headlights.
This model has a history of collecting water in front headlights resulting in them shorting out and malfunctioning/failing.cadillac will not recall and they are very much aware of this problem.
Head lamp is wet inside the houseing and condensation is collecting.
I have a 2010 cadillac srx and both of the the light covers are field with condensation the drivers light got blown out because of the condensation.it does not looke like my lights are even on when they are and i just got new lights on both sides.the dealership said the light covers are 450.00 a piece and 1300.00 for labor which i can't afford they really should recall this because it is unsafe.
My headlights fill with condensation and water. Have read on the cadillac forums that thousands of peoples on cadillac srx 2010- 2014 are having the same problem. Last nite driving in rain me right headlight shorted out because of water inside the headlite.i went off the shoulder of the road because i couldnt see if a tree had been there i would have been hurt or killed.this is a safety issue and i in formed cadillac anout it and was told there was noting they could domy car has 56,670 miles i bought it with 52,300 miles something needs to be done before someone gets killed .theses light cost 1200.00 dollars which is why cadillac will not recall them for safety.i was going around a corner at the speed limit of 45 mph.went of the rosd into a field no damage to car or property but when your lites fail at nite in rainits easy to have an accident or get killed or kill someone else.
Driver side headlight does not work as condensation build up blows out the lamp. This has been replaced two times and is now out the third time. This is a safety issue on this model and cadillac does not even make a replacement that does the same thing after a short period of time that a new unit has been installed.
Head lites wont work went out, water gets into the lens with condensation there are class action suites in other states related to this problem cant drive the car at night with the normal lights on. 2010-2013 cadillac srx's are known for this problem does general motors plan on doing a recall
The headlights keep getting moisture in the headlights requiring the whole assembly to be replaced at a cost of $1600 each time! i am on the 3rd time replacing the headlights since august of 2013. First time was covered under warranty, second time was only covered 95% by gm. No my third time will not be covered at all. There apparently seems to be a big problem with this and i can not understand why this problem is not a recall notice. This is just one of many, many issues with this vehicle.
(1) rear hatch cannot be opened manually, sensor shorted out due to design flaw allowing water to come in contact with sensor. This is a safety issue in the event of a fire.no way to exit the vehicle from the rear. No safety release. (2) headlights poor design , condensation behind front headlights making it impossible to see at night.(3) sunroof drain line too short, design issue. Water collects from roof drain and leaks into passenger floor. When this line becomes dislodged. Drain line is about 2 inches too short. Cadillac knows about the problem but will do nothing to fix it. Again another $1000.00. The front dash dash needs to be removed to fix this.cadillac is aware of all these issues and refuses to make corrections, these are all common problems not just my vehicle but every other srx from 2010 to 2015.i've been to the dealer on numerous occasion and all i've gotten was it will cost x amount of dollars to fix it. They recently sent out a repair form for the headlight issue , but require you to pay up front and hopefully you'll get your money reimbursed after filling out multiple forms.
Passenger headlight assembly has moisture in it, which blocks the light, and hid light just failed.not a light bulb issue, but other electrical components failing due to moisture. Unsafe condition, and hundreds of similar complaints are noted on the nhtsa complaints site and elsewhere.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights were very dim and did not shine brightly enough. As a result, the contact could not see the road while driving at night. The contact purchased replacement headlights and took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the lights were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
Condensation and water are leaking into the headlamp assembly. I brought my vehicle to a cadillac service center for evaluation. They returned the vehicle with a quote for $2200 to replace the headlamp enclosures and stated that insurance would not cover the repairs because it was cosmetic. However, if i cannot afford repairs and i choose to forgo replacement, the headlights will eventually short out. This is more than a cosmetic issue. The seals on the headlamp enclosure are defective and allow water to enter the headlights. The condensation dims the headlight quality at night making night-driving very dangerous. Cadillac said the $2200 would only cover replacement with the same defective part so i may need to have my car repaired again in the future. This should have been recalled long ago. Nighttime driving is very dangerous without fully functional headlights.
Headlights have condensation in them & visability is almost non -existant...i cannot drive the vehicle after dark in fear for myself or other drivers...
Hid headlamps short out due to water intrusion in headlamp and location of ballast that allows water to intrude into ballast and short out.cannot just replace ballast and projector hid as it will happen again.costs over $1600 to replace whole hid headlamp assembly.safety issue and extended warranty that i purchased does not cover.i now see on the internet that this has been an ongoing problem on this model and gm has not done a recall for water intrusion.poor design as ballast is underneath lamp and service tech says there is no seal between hid and ballast so water instrusion in lamp gets to ballast.this lamp is a complicated shape and probably very hard to make a water sealed lamp.
The seal used in the headlight housing is of cheap quality. It rained yesterday and both the headlights of my car were filled with moisture. The car has never been in an accident not there are any dents or broken parts around the headlight housing that will cause this issue. The headlights stopped working and it became hazardous driving condition. This has been a common problem in this year and generation of srx but my vehicle didnā€™t have any recalls but yet iā€™m facing this problem
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that condensation was present inside the front driver's side head lamp assembly. Also, the passenger side head lamp assembly was foggy. The failures caused the headlights to illuminate dimly. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and bellevue cadillac (600 116th ave ne, bellevue, wa) were notified of the failures, but no assistance was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the vehicle retained moisture in both headlight units, which affected the brightness of the headlights. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called frank kent cadillac (3500 w loop 820 s, fort worth, tx 76116, 817-385-1736) and received a quote for the repairs. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 100,000.
September2015 headlites started getting moisture and water in them.in oct whilr driving at nitethe left headlite went out then the right one did,i could not see the road and went in ditch.called cadillac next day told them what happened and was told nothing they could do and advised me to call dealer which i did and was told i would have to but 2 new headlites at 1200.00 each with out labor,i could not afford that so took lites out of car,the ballast were filled with water.i seperated the lenses and resealed them withsilicone and replaced ballast and bulbs from ebay.headlites no longer leak but im sure they will at some point in time.this should be a recall this is to dangerous and it is definately a disign flaw,i have read where many other people are having the same problem. This is a 2010 cadillac srx ,issue started at 57,000 miles
I have been having problems with my headlights since the day it first rained and i purchased my vehicle. Now the lights have dimmed all the way down and flicker as i drive at night can't see anything. I have replaced numerous bulbs and fuses to no avail. The seats act weird when you set them for yourself or another driver. The wipers barley work its like driving trying to kill yourself or someone else.
The low beams on this vehicle causes very poor visibility has already caused an accident that resulted in an expense of my insurance deductible to have the vehicle repaired. This is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed before it causes a fatal accident if it hasn't already.
He headlights get moisture in them causing headlights to barely work. I can't see anything at night. It is so dangerous. The company is very much aware of this defect in their product and has done nothing to correct it.- ottertail, mn, us
Headlamp condensation causing lamp to go out sometimes will come back on.
Passenger headlight assembly is full of water, possibly due to a faulty seal. This is a known issue among owners, and will eventually cause the headlight to short out and become inoperable. Replacement is over $1500, and cadillac replaces assemblies with the same faulty seal.
Condensation in headlights causing lights to go out.leaking seal from manufacturer allowing moisture in.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving at night, the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to worley auto sales (5042 princeton glendale rd, liberty township, oh 45011, (513) 737-8677), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000. The vin was not available.
The headlights/headlamps fill up with water , excessive condensation and cause erratic behavior, meaning false readings on dash about lights out etc.
Takata recall" headlights don't work good at night i have to use high bean because the low beaneveryone complain about not able to seeand i did receive a recall letter and i take it to the dealer but they say that there was no recall for this carand this is been goin on since i got the car
The headlights fill with water and this causes the lights to work strangely.currently, my left headlight works but not the turn signal or day beams.the right headlight is out but the turn signal and day beam work.i took it to a cadillac dealer and they told me they've seen this issue frequently.gm does not seem interested in fixing the issue.this is a safety concern that needs to be addressed.i should not have to pay $3,000 for a manufacturing defect.
I have noticed excessive water droplets in headlights it's so bad visibility is a safety concern at night because you can see headlights don't even look like there on. I have to use high beams which puts others lives in danger due to being blinded by the bright lights that can lead into more crashes.
There is already a class action lawsuit regarding the headlights fogging and dimming while driving on this model vehicle.both driver side and passenger side lights fog, which causes the headlights to both dim and go out causing thousands of dollars worth of repair.i have now had to have mine replaced twice due to fogging in the headlight assembly.this problem happens regardless of being stationary, parked, indoors or outdoors, driving or not.however, the class action was only settled for michigan and florida - cadillac has admitted there is a problem, but will not fix the problem in other states.
Takata inflators: headlights are very dim. Can not see the road at night. Manufactures defect may cause and accident due to poor visibility at night
Warning light for low beam headlight driver side came on when i started my car. Upon checking the headlight i saw the headlight was out and there was water accumulated on the lens cover.i was told by my mechanic that this a very frequent problem with this car and that both lenses had water accumulation.i had to replace the bulb, ballast, and firing mechanism in order to get the headlight to work, but the error message is still on dash.when i called cadillac, they told me there were no other issues with this car and i was the only one complaining despite the cadillac srx defective headlight class action lawsuit is chester steele v. General motors, llc case no.2:17-04323, in the u.s. District court for the central district of california.the car is always garaged at night - fogging occurs even if it has not been raining.
Headlights leak moisture into housings and degrade headlight visibility at night to the point you canā€™t see the road!
Headlights get water inside assembly and short out headlights
The factory headlights on the 2010 cadillac srx over time develop moisture and the bulb becomes dim. Hid lens become obscured and makes it extremely unsafe todrive at night, especially on unlit roads.
Headlights are getting extremely dimmed and now you can't even tell if they are on vehicle is underivable at night time. I have complained many times directly to cadillac customer care but no one care. Dealership ships wants 1500.00 per light to replace them. There should have been the recall long time ago.
After a rainy day, i was driving to work in the morning and the alert on my car said to check left low beam. When inspecting, i noticed that it was not turning on. I went to the auto store to check on light bulbs and then confirmed that the fuse's and the light were working perfectly fine. After attempting to set up an appointment with a dealership to check on the light, the car headlamp suddenly started working again. Now as of 01/23/2015 another few rainy days and now both of my headlamps are out along with the high beam lights. Luckily my fog lights still worked to get me home safely at night.
I purchased my used 2010 srx in feb. Of 2015. Since then i've had my headlights fixed three times due to condensation buildup. It started off with the passenger side, i got that fixed then six months later they both got condensation. Got them both fixed because its inspection time two weeks after inspection driver side completely burned out. I was on my to pa from va and my headlight went out. Cadillac refuse to fix it. Its very costly.
Excessive moistures inside headlight housings. The headlights are so dim that night drvig is no longer safe. Finally this week the driver side headlight is dead. The passenger side light was replace years sgo while the vehicle was still under warranty. This has been a slow progress.
Headlights are very dim due to moisture from a lack of sealing.there also seems to be a lot of others owners having problems with timing chains.
I bought this cadillac srx 2010 a few weeks ago i was driving and suddenly the lights stopped working and a warning ⚠️ showed up on the screen. They have a lot of moisture inside. I don't know what i should do now.
Both front headlights have condensation and water inside the container.this may short out the headlights causing a safety issue.
Head light are moist and very low and i barely can see at night , it's a manufacturer issue and i can't afford to fix it in my own
Low beam socket burned.
Had a bit of headlight condensation during a heavy rainfall but sun came out and dried it up and it worked fine. Gone thru many car washes since.2 years later took the vehicle in to the dealership and asked if they could wash off the road salt after installing new tires.after getting it back the passenger headlight was all foggy and full of water and condensation.cmon cadillac you guys know of this problem and you hold the pressure washer on the headlight until it's full of water.i then get a call asking if i want to upgrade to a newer year... What a way to increase business and lose a customer. A well documented and known problem and you deliberately work on it until it costs your client money and it's a safety issue. What next ? what if it was a brake problem.. Don't trust the dealerships at all. Used to think there was more of a reputation and more integrity.. Lost all faith in good business practices.
Left headlamp unit contained severe moisture.blew out ballast of hid unit at 36000 miles, headlight not usable.replaced entire headlamp unit for $1525.new unit leaked as well.entire headlamp unit replaced again.called gm to assist with obvious faulty manufactured part for financial assistance.gm customer relations played dumb, stating they never heard of the problem.can't pass state inspection without headlights.this was a hazard and gm should reimburse, and recall.
Passenger side headlight is full of condensation, reason unknown.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact noticed that oncoming vehicles were flashing their lights at her. The contact drove the vehicle home and noticed that the passenger side low beam headlights were out. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who replaced the low beam passenger sidehead lamp. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the ballast burned due to condensation inside the headlight assembly. The dealer diagnosed that replacing the ballast was not going to resolve the failure. It was determined that a crack on the seal of the headlight assembly caused the ballast to burn. The seal needed to be replaced. The likelihood of having to replace the other headlight assembly was very high. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
The low beams on the car are very poor, even on a clear night. If driving in the rain it is much worse.
Brakes are constantly locking up as i drive down the highway. The lights are defected. I've replaced the bulbs numerous times but you still can't see how to drive at night time. Also, something is wrong with the rear suspension.
The headlight failed on our vehicle due to moisture inside the light. Apparently, gmknows about this defect as it is a common complaint. However, cadillac wants $2000 to fix this headlight which i see as a safety concern, especially in florida where moisture can accumulate inside an improperly sealed headlight. If both ballasts fail, it would leave the driver without any headlights at night. This headlight failed during a heavy rainstorm in florida at night, leaving us with only one headlight.
I am one of many cadillac srx owners with a moisture problem inside the headlight assembly. I spoke to the local dealer and they offered 2 "solutions."as a band-aid, they offered to drill holes in the car to allow the water to drain. Unsatisfactory. I was told that the formal repair for this was over $2,000.ridiculous. The service writer informed me that this was a "known issue" and that my headlights could short out at any time. At night, this dangerous situation would present a serious safety hazard.i noticed that 86 of the 200 complaints for this year/make/model were for this same issue.
My wife was 25 miles from home at 10:30 pm and called me stating that neither headlight was working. Both had condensation in the housing. Only alternative was to tow it home or drive with fog lamps on.neither headlight is working, high or low beam. This is totally unacceptable for a vehicle with 60,000 miles. Called cadillac and was told you are out of warranty, you will pay all costs to fix this problem.
Left low beam light warning came on, took it to shop to change bulb, mechanic has changed the bulb, changed the ballast and it still doesnt work, whats the problem with the left light not working?
The headlights have water in them and are constantly getting shorted. Happened to me at night on a highway. Had to get off the highway immediately and figure out an alternative. Pretty scary.
When car was exposed to a heavy rain, both headlights went out due to water draining into the headlights. Per class action lawsuits and cadillac forums, this is a widespread problem.cadillac (gm) does not take responsibility for the issue.
Exterior headlights building up condensation inside and shortening out components due to headlights unit not being sealed correctly. Replacing headlights cost aprox $3000 to replace or repair. This issue is due to gm not sealing the unit properly / correctly. If the headlights were correctly sealed there would never be any condensation / leakage getting inside and shortening out electrical components. There should be a recall due to a safety issue when driving at night as headlights can stop working. When starting vehicle the next evening headlights did not come on and rececived a messages on dash board to check left and right headlights bulb. Cadillac dealership informed me condensation build up.moreover, if a person is on a long driving trip or local, headlights can go out and law enforcment can stop an individual for driving without headlights.
Headlight warning message appeared while driving on city street. Upon checking right low beam bulb, light was out and housing had heavy condensation.
Front headlamps have a recurring failure due to a design flaw with the housing.
Condensation in headlights causing visibility issues and interfering with the electrical components for headlights to work properly. This is a major issue and needs to be fixed since i have a bad eyesight and young children in the home.
The headlamps on the 2010 cadillac srx are not safe! there have been numerous complaints about moisture and condensation getting inside these lamps causing headlights to burn out. I was driving at night when my driver side headlight went out. I took it to the dealership and they said there is moisture in the headlight that caused the bulb to go out. They quoted me over 2k for a headlamp n bulb. This is ridiculous!! gm needs to do something about the headlamps asap!! these vehicles are supposed to be made with the best parts, but i see gm has failed!! this matter needs attention immidiatly before someone is hurt or even worse!!
Headlights are so dimoncoming cars do not see me and have swerved into my lane in attempt to pass.
Head lamps leak water & repeatedly burn out (blow) light bulbs creating an unsafe driving conditions.very dangerous driving at night & loosing both headlamps without warning.this is a know problem with the 2nd generation srx. Gm refuses to rectify this problem other than charging over $2000 to replace headlamp assembly.here is a link to over 175 post regarding headlamp failure on the 2010-2015 cadillace srx:http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-srx-second-generation-forum-2010/637417-fix-leaking-headlights-water-condensation-moisture.html
Headlights are extremely dim and basically unusable unless the brights are on.i also have condensation in the passenger side headlight fixture.this causes the lights to be even more dim coming from that headlight.
Headlights are bad even changing the bulbs quite a few times. And asked from a dealership they want to change the headlights completely and repair could cost over $1500 dollars that is a rip of already paid hell lot a money to buy this car
Condensation in the headlight covers. Considerably dims vision while night driving. High risk of lights shorting or going out completely because of water build up. Repairs are unreseasonably high.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights failed to function due to water entering the housing unit. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage and vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph with the low beam headlights in activation however, they exhibited extremely poor lighting. The headlights failed to illuminate the entire road. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they did not have the proper equipment to perform a diagnosis on the headlights. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 100.
While driving at night in the rain and or fog on the highway all the headlights high and low beam failed due to the out door moisture causing the car to unsafely leave the road way and crash due to unable to see the road way or road side while on the highway, the moisture shorts out the lighting untill they dry out days weeks later.
The lights are extremely dim. Very dangerous on the road. I've replaced the fuses for the headlights. I've replaced the entire headlight assembly and still no luck. One done research online and there are numerous people complaining about this issue. Cadillac will not fix it.
Passenger side front sealed headlamp had a build up of water and shorted out. While driving on the highway.rt. 495 in ma.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving at various speeds, the passenger side headlight failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that condensation in the headlight unit caused a failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,866.
Moisture in both headlight plastic assemblies causing the low beam lights to appear very dim, restricting night vision. The only option is to drive with the hi beams on all the time or not to drive at night. The moisture is also causing the bulbs to go out prematurely.
Driver headlight stop working. Water inside the head light causing the bulb to fail. Dealer will not cover the cost of repair.
Takata recall, both of my headlight assemblies have been changed the year is less than 6 yrs old. The lights went out at night while driving. Gm wants 1200.00 for just the assembly not labor. They leak and moisture get inside and blows out the bulbs and shorts out the electrical system. This is bs and there should be a recall. Gm using the cheapest junk possible and selling it for as much as possible, way to go gm, put my wife and daughter life at risk so you could make more money....you make me sick. After this cadillac i will never ever buy another cadillac. You have broke me with your cheap crap there are 50 and 60 yr old caddysthat still have original headlight assemblies that don't leak, all over the internet caddys newer than my 2010 srx are having the same problem. This is sad and it is irresponsible for gm not to remake these assemblies so they don't leak. And find a supplier that doesn't charge 1200.00 for a assembly that will leak in less than 5 yrstotally not satisfied, this is only the worst of the long line of issues we have had with our cadillac, it looks like caddy is going downhill. We will look for a better built vehicle and ya'll can have this high dollar cheap junk! pisses me off that both headlight assemblies leaked and cost on average 2000.00 each including labor to fix only to know it might last 4 yrs lol way to go foreign trade you brought us 10x the cost for [xxx] crap parts. Cadillac sucks! cheap parts and wayyyy over priced!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I purchased this vehicle in may of2012. Both headlamps are filled with moisture and condensation causing pooling on the floor bottom of both lamps. At night, the lumination is poor. I started noticing the problem approximately 1-1/2 year ago. It is becoming progressively worse.the consumer stated the right front passenger window and lift gate were inoperable possibly due to the water leaking into the vehicle through the sunroof.
(1) driver side headlamp failure. Dealership indicates ballast failure, and the entire assembly has to be replaced. The cost of this is a minimum of $1,200.(2) as of april 27, 2016 - car won't start (10 days): indication is "no remote detected" (remote battery was replaced); vehicle's battery was replaced december 2015.
They have a faulty product that the nhtsa should resolve before there is loss of life
There is moisture collecting in the headlamps and has caused the driver side low/high beam hid headlight to stop working.
Headlight problem, i change the headligts 3 years back at the dealer because of water inside the units. Now 3 years later i driving in complete darkness the inside reflector it seem to befog up or the reflector is no good . This is a hazard i can not see not even a foot a way from inside car. It seem like i'm driving with out light. Is a very spencive fix.
While driving in the rain all lights went out and then came back on after about 15 seconds.
Condensation both headlamps
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the seal on the headlight housing cracked and caused the headlights to fail. The dealer stated that due to the failure, water leaked into the headlight housing. The dealer had to replace the entire unit on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 94,500.updated 7/9/15
I am issuing with the headlight low beam. The light is very dim. I have noticed several complaints on the same issue. Cadillac still has not issued a recall for this problem. This problem is a safety issue, driving visibility is low this could result into an accident. I have had the outside of the headlight clean, but no difference in low beam visibility. This is a safety issue gor many drivers.
The insides of my headlights collect condensation. The bulbs are very dim even though they have been replaced with newer high-intensity bulbs. Night driving, especially when its raining or snowing is hazardous.
Low beam headlights very dim, unsafe to drive at night. Some condensation in 1 headlight. Very disappointing to see all these same complaints and the company refusing to care about the customers safety. I've only owned the car a few months and i love everything except that, and it is a deal breaker.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving at an unknown speed, theheadlights failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the headlights were defective due to moisture and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Low beam headlights too dim, can not safely drive at night.
Every time it rains moisture get in the headlights and they go out until it drys
The headlights lights are not properly working. They're completely out!!! we can't drive at night unless we use the high beams. My husband and i had a friend replaced the bulbs on the side of the headlights because we thought that they were the issue. The main center lights were still out. We took it to discount auto parts and we were told that the wrong bulbs were used. After we purchased what we thought was the correct bulbs, the worker volunteered to put them in for us. After he was done, the lights still didn't come on. Well, the lights on the side worked but not the main center lights. Anyway, i goggled this to see if anyone else was experiencing the same issue. Omg! so many people are having the same exact issue.a few people went to the cadillac dealer had the lights fixed and after a few weeks, the lights were out again. Some people tried fixing the issue themselves and after working for a few weeks, lights were out again. Yesterday, i saw two of the same cadillacs srx and noticed the same thing. The front lights were out and very dim such as ours. This is very dangerous!! people's lives are in danger. We noticed it when my husband had to rush me to the er late last year or earlier this year. It was around 11 pm and the street we had to drive down was completely dark. It was a two way street and we had no choice but to use the head beams when no cars was coming on the other side. We was so frightened when we had to turn them off because how dark it was. There were no street lights until we got close to the hospital. We had date night and stayed at a hotel and the area was around an indian reservation which is very dark. Just thought i would mention our experience and how this issue is putting people's lives in harms way. I suggest that gm and cadillac fixed this problem that may be due to moisture coming in as stated from other owners.
I bought a used 2010 cadillac srx last december, drove it for about a week the noticed driver side headlight was out so went to autozone to check price of bulb $100 no way, so checked ebay and got 2 for $25. Headlight worked fine for about another month and driver side light went out again so i tried replacing it with the other bulb and it didn't work. Took vehicle by local cadillac dealership and they told me it sounded like the ballast was bad which costs $225 just for part and $444 total w/labor. Told dealership to go ahead and replace it and headlight still didn't work. Dealership said condensation was in light causing it not to work and i needed a headlight replacement with total cost of $1700 which couldn't afford just for a headlight so i found one online for $275 and installed it myself and it worked fine for about another month now out again. Heavy rain for 3 days and i'm wondering if moisture is inside it because i removed the bumper again and switched bulbs from good side and put on bad side and bulb not working but bad side bulb is working on good side. I'm also going to replace the relay fuse to see if that work. Don't see why there is not a recall on this since there are so many complaints.
Front headlights are not bright at all; it is like driving in the dark. The hi-beams work fine. I routinely use all four cars in my household (one other american make, and two asian makes), and out of the four, the cadillac srx headlights are of absolutely no use. The headlight bulbs aren't burnt out, but they project next to no light. Car has 94,697 miles on it. The car is used mostly during the day; if one if us needs to go out at night, we take one of the other three cars as the srx is the unsafe choice. Was surprised to learn there was no recall on this.looks like there were some similar complaints as mine at the nhtsa web site. Twice as many complaints lodged were about the 2010 cadillac srx's headlights as compared to any other matter about the car ... That should tell you something.
I sae that in california there was a class action filed against gm for faulty headlights. One of my headlights just went out and i am look for a fix/replacement. I changed the bulb but that did not work
While in motion and stationary, the headlights appears to be on but not strong at all. The roads are not visible at night time when the lights are on. Sometimes i need to turn my high beams on just to see the road ahead. I have recently changed the light bulb, no change occurred. I have buffed the headlights to get rid of any build up, no change. This is a single owner vehicle and has 55k miles. Definitely a saftey issue!
Headlight system is not working properly. I cannot use my low dims at night because the road is not at all visible. This is a very serious safety hazard and gm is aware of the problem but chooses not to do anything about it. We have already had a minor accident because of the low visibility. I have made multiple complaints to gm about this issue. I understand that there are several class action law suits for this issue from other consumers that are having this issue.
The low beams lights some times they both work and some times just one works and sometimes neither lowbeam light works at all can drive at night i have replaced the bulbs and the still do not work and i have checked the fusesin my driveway
I rarely drive at night, but when i do the low beam headlights are so dim i cannot see anything
The low beam (headlights) went out and fills with moisture causes the headlights to short out and was made defective. Replaced the bulb and did not fix the problem the entire headlight piece has to be replaced says cadillac and will be okay until it feels with water again and shorts out.
Before i purchased this car i specifically asked the dealership if it had headlight issues getting moisture in and then hid lights going out. I was told no that it did not. I purchased the vehicle they had it at the dealership for one more week because they were doing a repair on the in-dash entertainment system. I picked the car up drove it home that evening and noticed the headlights were different colors. Within one week we had some rain, the car was parked in the driveway during this time and when it was driven next my front right headlight went out. They are a high low beam hid light which cannot stand moisture. I let the dealership know they have not gotten back with me as to fixing this problem because i told them it was a safety issue. And i feel that i was misled when i purchased the vehicle because i would not have purchased it had i known and i have subsequently been pulled over in the said vehicle twice well i have been awaiting communication with the dealership, as i have emailed my salesperson why and told him what i found out from a dealership how the repair process is to work. I was told by him previously my sales guy, that we would both gather information and that the dealership would come up with i plan to correct this problem. The light went out mid-to-late october and here it is december 23rd and i still have no headlight.
Bought my 2010 cadillac srx used from dealership. Brought car back to complain about moisture in headlights. I was told is was normal on a cadillac. Dealership said there was no recall and not to worry about it. Over time the headlights have become more and more dim to the point of not being able to see at night on my way home. The brights work well bit the dim setting is now too dangerous to drive at night.
The headlights to my cadillac srx 2010 quick working at 79,200 miles safely.the dims have always been less bright than other vehicles when first purchased however i understand this is a common concern.the dims however got worse just a few days ago.so much so that i was not sure that the lights were even on while driving from the city to the country where no additional light is available to supplement the headlights.all lights still work however the dims are beyond dangerous.i was getting flashed by other drivers on the road to turn the lights on while the dims were still on and flashed when i had to drive with my bright lights on for adequate driving lights.i had to drive over the weekend in foggy conditions which were even more dangerous hoping that i would not be killed by oncoming traffic.i have taken a picture of the highway while driving with my dims on which i have attached to this file.as you can see, there is no light to be had and the only way to see a bit more in front of you is to turn the speedometer lights all the way down.i can't imagine what it is going to be like to drive in blizzard like conditions this winter with these headlights.cadillac needs to be forced to recall these headlights!based on my research of these lights, this is a massive issue.the only reason way the recall hasn't been forced is because it always happens outside of the extended warranty where you have to pay to get diagnostics done on it.conveniently for cadillac, they just make it past that mark by 4,000-7,000 miles.this is not right.
Car had been turned off and parked for 4 hours. Left rear tail light began to smoke and caught fire melting left rear of vehicle within minutes of fire dept being notified. Fire was put out by fire department before vehicle would have exploded.
The headlights fill up with moisture. This makes the lights so dim you can't even see the road.
Both headlights have had to be replaced and one of them is already accumulating moisture and has burned out again.i do not understand why this is not a recall, as it is very dangerous and has been very costly.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While depressing the liftgate button, it independently closed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the exterior lights failed to illuminate. The dealer stated that it was a manufacturer defect and they could not assist. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. The vin was not available. Updated 06/21/17*ljcarfax cannot process vin. Updated 9/28/18
The headlights on the 2010 srx fill with moisture decreasing the light and make it unsafe to operate the vehicle at night without using high beams.this problem has caused repeated stop by police to warn of low visibility with the affected headlights.i have become very leery of driving this vehicle at night.the solution from the dealer is to remove the headlight and dry out the moisture or replace the headlight completely.either option is very expensive and should be charged to the manufacturer.
Moisture forms in the headlight due to faulty sealing causing the wiring to short out and then the headlight burns out. Repairs are costly, paid $1817.29 in october 2016. Now the other leadlight has the same problem and requires replacement.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the low beam headlight assembly failed without warning. The contact stated that the driver's side headlight became inoperable and failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that water entered the interior of the driver side headlight causing it to fail. The contact mentioned that the failure previously occurred on the passenger side headlight. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Due to bad seals in headlights and condensation lights are always dim to the point cannot see to drive vehicle at night even after changing bulbs. Cadillac still using faulty headlights with bad seals when replacing.
I live in maryland owner of a 2010 cadillac srx and my headlights have been fogged up with condensation since i purchased this car in 2014 used. I have not received any type of letter pertaining to the headlight issue. Several years back i did write a letter to gm complaining about the problem but it fell upon deaf ears! any suggestions from anyone out there! any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I have been extremely disappointed and frustrated with this whole situation. Why are the lawsuits only being handled state by state as opposed to a nationwide problem with these headlights. We need protection from the giant car manufacturers because they are [xxx] all over us all the time when it comes to fixing a very dangerous situation with this headlight problem. You literally can't see the road in front of you!!!!!!!! gm take responsibility for your major defective product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My 2010 cadillac srx premium right (passenger side) headlamp is leaking and causing condensation build up on lens, causing the low beam and high beam not to work.the dealership quoted a price of approximately $1500 to replace the headlamp,as it is out of warranty. The vehicle has 55,500 miles on it.i contacted general motors and they,in turn, contacted the dealership and the dealership called and said gm would not pay the entire cost, but would share the cost, quoting a figure of "possibly" $500. General motors should replace for nothing. From reading all the complaints on this site, as well as on the "cadillac forum" site, i concluded that the manufacturer of this headlamp has a faulty headlamp.i feel general motors should have a recall as this is certainly a safety hazard.
The headlights on my 2010 cadillac srx have an interior condensation buildup that does not always dissipate. This causes dimming of the lights at night, a safety issue. The dealer replaced 1 headlight when i purchased my used srx, after i fought for it. They put in a used headlight, again issue started. I found out this is a known defect in this vehicle and a costly one to correct. Why is it not a safety recall, does their have to be a body count before this is done?? cadillac must own up to this safety issue and replace these defective and very important headlights!! a vehicle must be safe to drive anytime of the day or night. The fact that this is so common to this vehicle is unacceptable and 8 years later no recall even worse.official action to correct this issue is an absolute must. Please consider the many safety issues associated with defective headlights.
It had been raining for several days. I received a message on my screen as i was driving to check the passenger side low beam. When i got out of the car the light was completely out on the passenger light. After allowing the vehicle to sit in the garage overnight, the next morning it was obvious that there was moisture inside of the light. The blinker still works but the low and high beam are both out.
Headlights lens fill with water and short out
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving 70 mph in the rain, the driver and passenger side headlights went out and were inoperable. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The "check passenger side head lamp" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to bud weizer motors (2676 milwaukee rd, beloit, wi 53511, (608) 466-1772) where it was diagnosed that the headlights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the headlight assembly and light bulbs; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 142,000.
I have noticed that it has been a lot of complaints about the headlights on cadillac srx and it is very expensive just to replace the part. The light joust goes out if your driving or not and it should be a recall on this before someone has a serious accident.
Low beam head lamps so dim finding it necessary to drive with high beams on.replaced light bulbs, costing over $200, again by lightning specialist costing $400.still unable to drive safely without driving with high beams.have come close to hitting pedestrians more than once.vehicle in motion
My headlights have condensation and are very dim. Therefore, at night it is very difficult to drive due to the dimness. Now, cadillac wants me to pay upfront for the repairs which includes a diagnostic to be done by a certified cadillac technician. I have no problem with having cadillac doing the work but,i do not think i should have to pay upfront. My husband and i are both retired and on a fixed income so $1,500 is a lot of money for a problem that cadillac knew about from the beginning.
On 9/16/2016, i purchased a used cadillac srx 2010 from a local dealer.i was presented with a carfax report that listed repairs. Among the repairs was a headlight replacement even before the sale as a new car. It wasn't specific so i figured it was damaged in transit or something.the car had 43356 miles on it when i purchased it. On 11/3/16, when driving, i noticed that i was without a headlight. I got out and looked at the front and noticed that the driver side headlight was full of moisture and the low beam bulb was blown. On 11/4/2016, i took it to the dealer to resolve and they replaced the bulb which didn't work so i left it there overnight and they replaced the "igniter". I picked it up the next day.i drove it for a week to ten days, but not at night. Until 11/12/16. The driver side headlight no longer worked on low beam or high beam. The car now has only 45,273 miles on it.i have driven it only 1,927 miles.i live in a dense fog area and this is a safety issue, it will be extremely dangerous to drive anytime there is fog. Even when there is no fog, the lack of a driver side headlight could result in an oncoming car misjudging the size of the car and possibly turning in front of it, assuming that it is a motorcycle or small car. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer for repair and now it remains there because they refuse to resolve this safety issue and want me to pay for it. It is a fairly expensive repair around $1200 to replace the entire headlight assembly. I do not understand why a safety recall has not been issued on this vehicle forcing the manufacturer to replace the defective headlight assembly.
Headlights are too dim. Safety hazard. Mechanics say nothing i can do except try replace the entire headlight at $1500 each. And, who knows if this would work? the headlights do not work properly and this is a known problem with this model. I cannot spend $3,000 as this is half the value of the car.the headlights should be replaced by the manufacturer because this is a safety hazard.i cannot drive the car at night.
The passenger headlamp assembly had to be replaced in april, 2014 because moisture shorted it out.this cost $1450 out of pocket, repaired by the dealer with new gm parts.now less than 2 years later, the same passenger headlamp is out due to the same reason.i have read about many similar complaints on headlamps for this model.not safe when headlamps suddenly go out.
Passenger side headlight high and low beam out. Condensation in lense.
Driver side headlamp has water inside.this causes the headlight to go off completely for a while.it's as if a short exists.visibility is bad.gm cadillac sent a letter recently that a design defect exists.if the problem occurred in my vehicle, i can get reimbursed.well, the problem occured on the right side headlight a couple of years ago.dealership fixed it and i had to pay.i recently received a partial reimbursement from gm.at the time, the dealership stated the other headlight was not so bad.they did not replace, but i did not have the resources to replace it at the time.today, i called a cadillac dealership and was informed that gm will not cover it because it had to be done by september 2020.however, why would there be a limit on an admitted design defect by the manufacturer?it is a safety defect in my opinion, as i am a night driver in the rainy pacific northwest.attached are 2 photos.the cloudy one is the left driver side window (photo img 3203) and the clear one that was replaced is on the right (img 3204).
Both front headlights appear to have condensation and/or water inside. The low beams no longer provide adequate light for me to safely operate my vehicle after dark, and even suddenly totally blacked out one night! oncoming drivers were flashing their headlights at me, and i was forced to drive with the high beams on continuously. I called the local cadillac dealer service dept and was told they haven't heard of any problems with srx headlights.
There was an error message in my display to check passenger low beam. I had the passenger headlamp replaced at a cadillac dealership at a cost of $369.00. I left the dealership and drove to my destination during the daylight hours. When i left my destination it had gotten dark and while driving the headlamp stopped working. I have since found out that the seal on the headlamp is no good therefore allowing moisture to develop inside the headlamp which causes the problem. I have found through research that this appears to be a design flaw with this model and many people have had loss of headlights at times when it would pose a safety issue. The repair is very costly (approximately $1400 per headlamp). There is moisture in the drivers side headlamp as well so it stands to reason that it is just a matter of time before that lamp stops working. I only have 73,000 miles on the car and without spending $3000 to rectify the problem, i could find myself with no lights while driving at night. This is in my opinion most definitely a potential safety issue!
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving at night approximately 20 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to king o'rourke buick gmc dealer, located on 756 smithtown bypass, smithtown, ny 11787, phone: (631) 482-7312, where it was diagnosed that the headlights retained water causing the lights to fail and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not contacted and made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,300.
Dim/running headlights work but very dim cannot see while driving at night. Have to use high beams. When taken to cadillac they claim that moisture in the headlights is what causes the problem. This seems to me to be a design failure. Very unsafe to operate and astronomically expensive to have repaired.
Condensation in both headlights have caused bot headlights to go out.first headlight went out while raining at night on a secondary road. About 5 days later after the condensation dried the head light came back on.this time the left headlight went out after a prolonged rain and now the right headlight is out due to condensation in that encasement.i bought the gm major guard warranty and was told this was bumper to bumper coverage, yet am being told by the dealership and gm this is not covered.this is an obvious manufacturing defect which is a a true safety concern.why is gm not being held accountable for this.this eventually result in an accident.
Headlights collect moisture in lens cover and over time the headlights burn out leaving you with a vehicle with no headlights. Approximate repair cost by cadillac dealership $2500.
Passenger headlight working sometimes and sometimes not. Brought into dealer and they replaced bulbs. After a few days after getting vehicle back noticed headlights only worked some of the time. Brought back to the dealer and he said the whole headlight assembly needs to be replaced. Suggested looking online to see if others experienced same problem which led me to this site. Cost to replace is $1600 and is only guaranteed for 12,000 miles or 12 months.
The front light have a recall yet gm tells me mine doesn't qualify. Now my lights will not work at dark, to say the least this is very dangerous and gm needs to hope i do not have an accident due to no headlights at dark.it is over 3000.00 just for parts and no promises from gm this will fix or keep from happening again. Gm should be ashamed of their integrity
I own a 2010 cadillac srx. The passenger headlamp has accumulated some condensation. As i was reading online this is a known flaw of design for this model (even 2013 models)that gm is aware of. As the holiday approached we traveled out of town. As were were leaving i was told by a family member that might passenger headlamp was inoperable. So my guess was that it was either a safety mechanism that the car will shut the light out to prevent a short or worst a fire. Well it was complete opposite. This morning my local cadillac dealership has concluded the the known flaw in the headlamp actually shorted out my buld. Now i have received a quote for over $1000++ to replace a flaw in their design. How is this good business? if it is a known issue take care of it right? this is a design flaw, based on numerous cadillac complaints as well as notes found on this very nhtsa website. In it's current state, the vehicle is not drivable in low visibility conditions or at night because the headlights have failed due to a design flaw. Dealer will not repair under extended warranty, and without repair the vehicle will not even pass a state safety inspection. This is a recall worthy fault which could lead to loss of life if fault occurs in low visibility or night driving, and renders the vehicle unsafe as it will not pass state safety inspection. Please force gm to issue recall on this issue.
The head light lens leak at the seam. Both head lights are effected. Moisture accumulates inside the lens and distorts the head light beam. This reduces the clarity and effectiveness of the head lights. I have replaced one headlight at 45,000 miles. The head light seal leaks water. Poor manufacturing and a safety concern. There should be a recall.
I just bought this car friday ,first i had a problem with water in the head lights i corrected that my self ,now the headlights on dim is so dim it's difficult to see the road at night ,at times you can't see the white strip on the side of the road i'm 69 years old it makes driving at night very difficult ,please check this out thank you [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*pm
Cadillac 2010 srx has moisture in both headlamps again. Left headlights has stopped working, right side is works on and off. Headlamps have been fixed previously due to moisture. When will the federal government and/or cadillac going to have a recall on this? this is a common safety problem with these cars and are extremely dangerous to drive during rain, snow, or at night. Help!!!
Headlights were improperly sealed or poorly sealed allowing water to condensate inside the headlight housing. This creates a safety hazard. Water continues to condensate in the housing and then starts pooling.this can lead to getting water in the headlight electrical circuits causing electrical shortages which can ultimately lead to a fire.this is a a very common issue and needs to be resolved instead of pinning it on owners.
Headlight from 2010 cadillac srx seal breaks and headlight blows due to moisture dealer says the assembly needs to be replaced along with ballast and light!!
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that when the vehicle wasturned on, the headlights were very dim the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight assembly needed replacement. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.updated 03/17/17*lj*as
Both headlights quit working, high beams and low beams. Started vehicle at night and the vehicle did not have any headlights.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, incoming traffic alerted the contact that the headlights were not illuminated. The contact mentioned that the check low beam lights warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the low beam bulbs were replaced. The independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle as having condensation built in the headlight assembly burning the ballasts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Headlight seal fails causing moisture inside lamp fixtures to build up and eventually cause an electrical short in the vehicle.moisture in the lamp fixtures also impairs visibility at night and dusk conditions.
The headlights have built up condensation in them which not only makes it very difficult for me to see at night time but also makes it difficult for other drivers to see me.
Both headlights completely out both lenses full of condensation, no highbeams either
Passenger headlight (sealed beam) failed to turn on 2 days ago.i assumed it was a bulb, but the dealer identified it as a short due to water and condensation accumulation inside the housing.the light did come back on for a short time while driving to the dealership, but was off again upon arrival.dealer stated the other light would be affected soon as well, based on water inside it too.i have the highest level extended warranty plan (gm major guard), but the sealed beam headlights are excluded from this plan.dealer quoted cost of $1,800 per light, total of $3,600 to repair.this is a design flaw, based on numerous cadillac complaints as well as notes found on nhtsa.in it's current state, the vehicle is not drivable in low visibility conditions or at night because the headlights have failed due to a design flaw.dealer will not repair under warranty, and without repair the vehicle will not even pass a state safety inspection.this is a recall worthy fault which could lead to loss of life if fault occurs in low visibility or night driving, and renders the vehicle unsafe as it will not pass state safety inspection.please force gm to issue recall on this issue.i am currently trying to figure out how to pay almost $4,000 on my $56k vehicle to get it drivable again, when it's under the premiere warranty plan.this policy is unsatisfactory at best.
Head lamp fog up with moister and head lights are dim . Very hard to see at night stationary and in motion
Headlight housing is not sealing properly. Water can penetrate inside assembly and then condensate. This leads to clouded headlights which does not properly illuminate the road. Furthermore, it causes oncoming driver to miscalculate vehicle location and distance. This issue is prevalent throughout this headlight style. Manufacturer should be held responsible.
Do to bad seals in the headlights water gets into the light causing the dim lights to be so low you cannot see the road to drive at night.if you try to get it repaired gm wants to replace the entire light with the same bad component at your cost.this is a safety issue and should be recalled.replacing the light with the same bad component does not correct the problem due to in time the seals will leak again causing the lights to go out or go so dim you cannot drive safely at night.
Both head lights filled up with so much condensation it shorted the bulbs to where they did not work at all....in the rain...late at night!...on the highway with children in the car!! i was unable to see anything and had to use flood lamps on my drive home with my children in the car in the city and on the highway. Looked this up and it is very common for this make and model....this is a huge safety concern. There could have easily been a crash or fatality if i was not comfortable driving in uncomfortable conditions!
Vehicle has on 43,921 miles and the front headlamp assembly got water in it and blew out the hid headlight.these are supposed to be sealed units and should not ever leak.never in any other car i've ever owned has the headlamp assemble leaked.further this is a known problem with this make and year model, and cadillac should be replacing them at no cost
The low beam headlights suddenly became extremely dim. Bulbs were replaced but it did not fix the issue.cadillac advised that i would need to spend $3000 to replace both headlights but offered no explanation as to why. There was a service bulletin issued regarding the headlights and the dimness in 2012, but that bulletin had expired. I can no longer drive at night without spending 10% of the cost of the car to replace the headlights.
Seals on lights allowing water to collect and short out headlights
The headlight has moisture inside of it and will not come on while traveling in the dark. I tried the high beam and it did not respond either. After my vacation i took my vehicle to the dealership in hope of finding out if i needed to change the bulb, but once my entire front end was removed i was told by the dealership that the headlight globe needed to be replaced. I have never been in an accident with my vehicle nor have i received any notification of a defective part for my vehicle. After about a few days the lights came on without any repairs. I have been experiencing the same problem every since the initial black out with my headlights. Again i purchased this vehicle from the dealership toyota of hattiesburg march 2013. I have yet to be notified of any information regarding this defect with my headlights. I was told by the dealership that the cost of the repair would cost me out of pocket 2,500.
Headlights have been filled with condensation for over 4 years and dealer says it would not cause any issues, purely a cosmetic issue. Now headlights are malfunctioning, with low beam alternating between working and not working, and can only flash high beams, not keep them on for night driving. The lawsuit chester steele v gm is only limited to california, one of the driest states. With recent below 0f temperatures the condensation has most likely fried the connections from freezing, thawing, and refreezing. Gm knows this is a problem, and will not address it except with at least a $2,000 bill to fix it.
While driving on highway, check left low beam headlight warning. Then check right low beam warning came on. Now both left and right low & high beams are out. There is condensation in the driver side lens. This seems to be a defect in the lens design and there should be a gm recall.
The srx 2010 was parked out side during a light rain shower. The drivers side headlightaccumulated moisture, and when the lights came on automatically it completely stopped working and a warning sign to check headlight appeared on the dash.
Moisture, condensation, dim, clouded and improperly illuminate the road on left driver side. The passenger side was replaced before we took ownership. The passenger side has been replace with aftermarket assembly after it was damaged.
The low beam headlights on my 2010 srx do not provide adequately light to safely operate the vehicle at night.the passenger side is acceptable but the drivers side is extremely weak! bulbs have been replaced with significantly upgraded bulbs without improvement.moisture/condensation occurs inside the lens and may be contributing to the issue.this has been an ongoing issue and only continues to get worse. Online research has shown numerous post describing the same or similar issue.operating with high beam headlights provide adequate light but presents a possible safety hazard to oncoming traffic.seems that issue is related to gm/cadillac not properly sealing the headlight assembly.cost to replace/ repair is significant.since having properly lighting would seem like a reasonable safety concern i ask that you review this matter and issue a safety recall requiring the manufacturer to correct this issue at little or no cost to the owner.thank you for your help and consideration.
60,000 miles, both the front headlamp unit seals are leaking water causing the front lights to dim and burn out.numerous complaints on cadillac.com forum site. The cost is 1200 dollars per unit to repair. They advise not a warranty issue and cadi knew the seals disintegrate causing a very costly repair and a dangerous situation!
Headlights are filling with water and condensation. Now headlights are malfunctioning.
The low beam headlights in perfect operating condition are so dim that the road in front of the vehicle is barely visible. The only way to safely operate the vehicle is with the high beams on. Many others have experienced the same issue. The vehicle is dangerous with only low beams on.
The lites are to dim, at nite to see the road at a safe distance ahead. We are concerned about seeing people, animals, debris. Holes etc. We have bought the brightest bulbs that is acceptable to gm spics, we had them installed by a gm dealer, the results were a very minimal improvement .gm dealer said the only other option is to buy a reto fit kit at a cost of $400. Bulbs $200. And then labor cost. To me if i am having these serious issues there r many others also this a danger to me, fellow drivers, animals, and people. Please investigate this matter. I believe there should be a recall. Please keep me posted on this investigation.
Low-beam headlights on 2010 srx cadillac extremely dim, visibility very poor driving at night. High beam must be used to drive at night. Replaced headlamp bulbs, headlamp shields and cleaned professionally, still no improvement. Noticed condensation in head lights never goes away. Neighbor has same 2012 model reported same problem and had to replace entire headlight systems for $1800.
Poor headlight visibility due to dim low beams and moisture buildup inside the lens. Gm does not consider it a safety issue and therefore has not issued a recall. The car is not safe to drive at night.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the passenger side headlight failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that condensation entered into the headlight assembly, which would short out the electricity in the unit. The headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred on two prior occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
Lost both low beam headlamps while driving home 12/22/2017. Had to turn on fog lamps to see. This was after dealer had my vehicle 3 times to1)replace right low beam bulb; 2) ballast; 3) igniter and ballast. Over $700 spent to date and evident now with both low beams out more work needed to repair.
Headlight on passanger side not working changed bulbs and fuses still the low and highbeams are not working.
Excessive moisture collects in the front headlight assemblies and causes bulbs to short out and need to be replaced.
Headlight issue. Gm said they would reimburse me for what i paid to get my headlights fixed, but they appear to be scamming me and giving me the run around. Not able to find someone to help me. No way to make a complaint. Please help me.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that moisture accumulated in the headlights, which led to the passenger side headlight shutting off. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph at the time of the failure. The vehicle was taken to flow cadillac (336-760-7000, located at 1400 s stratford rd, winston-salem, nc 27103) where the headlight assembly was replaced; however, the failure recurred with the driver's side headlight. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the warranty was expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 117,268.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights did not function due to moisture build-up. The vehicle was taken to tustin cadillac (located at 8401, 50 auto center dr, tustin, ca 92782, (866) 861-7452) where it was diagnosed that there was a leak and the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 36,500.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the high and low beam headlights failed and that there was water inside the sealed head lamp unit. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights would fail to operate once moisture entered the headlight module. The contact stated that either the check right headlamp or check left headlamp warning message would appear on the instrument panel during the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed her that if the headlights were replaced by an independent mechanic, she might be reimbursed through a manufacturer warranty. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights had condensation and would occasionally flash on and off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the headlights were not functioning and the "service lighting" warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to morrie's golden valley cadillac (located at 7400 wayzata blvd, minneapolis, mn 55426, (866) 493-2819) where it was diagnosed that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Fuel smell inside car.cadillac srx 2010.
I've taken my car several places & being told several fuel injectors are leaking into the combustion chamber. Numerous mechanics, among others, have told me this can start a fire at any time.
The bearings on two of the tires the emissionsis giving me trouble i took it to a mechanic who changed everything car will not pass inspection
Low octane fuel was used in the vehicle and it is now making a knocking sound from the engine, lagging on accelerating, and having issues starting.
Thank you
If you have the remote in your pocket or purse and you bump it while getting into the car you canopen the rear door without realizing it.the rear door opened twice while i was getting in and i didn't realize it had opened till i reached my destination the first time and the second time i didn't realize it till i was driving down the road.i am hard of hearing so i didn't hear that it was open and there was no alarm or indicator light saying the door was open.
2010 cadillac srx the hood release latch is located adjacent to the pad for the left foot. The foot if moved can pop the hood. This happened four times once at 65 mph sent emails to cadillac no answer.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)to whom it might concern:i'm a big fan of cadillac cars. I purchased a brand new 2010 cadillac srx in december 2010 from crest cars (cadillac authorized dealer) and the car has been running good, except for the brake.the brake makes lots of unacceptable grinding and rattle noise immediately whenever i start to release the brake or apply it partially. Here's how to duplicate the noise: - if the car stops, release the brake gradually. The grinding noise appears very loud, especially when the car is in a slope slightly downward.- if the car is moving, apply the brake to stop it. About less than one second before the car goes to a complete stop, the grinding noise re-appears. I contacted crest car (the dealer where i purchased the car) and have them take a look to fix it. After about 2 days, they returned the car to me, saying that they "cannot do anything about the noise". Here are some important information i received from dealer:- the service advisor agreed with me that the problem with the brake is valid. - the service advisor agreed that they cannot do anything to stop the noise with the brake- the technician stated in the paperwork that the noise from the brake also comes from other 2010 srx crossover.service advisor refused to honor warranty because they are unable to fix the noise. The car is only 3-4 months old and under full warranty. Whenever i apply the brake, i try to press harder than i should have. To overcome the noise, whenever i try to release the break, i try to release completely instead of gradually releasing it. Since the brake affects my habit of controlling the car, it is considered a serious safety issue with the car.[xxx]
On 2 occasions this month my 2010 srx went from going approx 65 mph to around 20 mph max on major freeways. I worked my way to the shoulder, called onstar, they prompted me to turn the engine off and restart.both times i was able to drive again.i took the car to the cadillac dealer and they replaced the throttle body assembly at $784. This was so scary losing power on the freeway like this, there should be a recall for this issue.
Sometimes taking off in the car it might not shift causing the the car to rev. You can pull over and stop put the car into park then back into drive it will shift properly you just never know! very very dangerous in big intersectionsand busy cities.
Front headlights are low beam and make it difficult to drive at night. You can only see a few feet in front of the car.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While attempting to switch gears, the vehicle jolted and took extra time to shift into gear. Also, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 12,191.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving approximately 45 mph, there was a loss of power steering without warning. In addition, when the accelerator pedal was engaged the vehicle failed to respond. The contact sustained injuries to the shoulder and neck due to the excessive force applied to the steering wheel however, no medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear shift failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,260.
Headlights are very dim due to moisture from a lack of sealing.there also seems to be a lot of others owners having problems with timing chains.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The whole car is a shame. Wiring harness fell and melted, lost brakes, computer wouldn't allow car to start, stabili track, power steering, radiator all failed. No side panels installed in door jams.
The 2010 cadillac srx with only 29,526 miles would not go into park.found to be transmission control module assembly.returned to have part replaced transmission control sticking during operation replaced transmission control shifter assembly.parts was $207.83 and labor was $280.00, misc $25.00.should not happen at 29,526 miles.

These vehicles may have a transmission shift cable that was improperly installed and may come out of the transmission bracket.consequencethe driver may be unable to shift the transmission out of gear, resulting in no motion or the shifter may inaccurately indicate that the transmission is in park when it is not, allowing the vehicle to roll away and cause a possible crash.what owners should dogm will notify owners, and dealers will ensure that the transmission shift cable is properly routed and seated in the transmission cable bracket. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during january 2012. Owners may contact cadillac at 1-866-982-2339.
As i was driving the vehicle would not switch into 2nd gear on the highway. Pulled over, turned off, turned on, and began driving again. The vehicle then switched gears as usual. Interested to see if this is similar to the recall on the 2013 cadillac srx transmission control module, and if it needs reprogramming.
When i shift to park, the dash tells me i have not in park and i am unable to turn the car off. I have to reverse, then shift back to park, sometimes several times, in order for the car to finally register that i am in park.also, when i shift to reverse, there is a huge thunking noise.this is an intermittent issue that can occur anywhere from 1 time per week to several times.i have brought the vehicle in for the issue to certified gm dearlships and pointed out that several messages on bulletin boards state it's a transmission shift cable.many others have experienced the same problem, however, if the dealership cannot replicate it, they say there is nothing to fix.i saw a recall for the same issue for 2010 and 2011 srx's, but the dealership said that my vin is not part of the recall although i'm experiencing the same issue.
Engine rpms rev abruptly between 3k - 4k during shifts. Mostly happening in 1st-3rd gear. This happens during any condition where my vehicle is accelerated moderately or higher. During light acceleration it is less noticeable but will still spike rpms during shifts. It hovers around 3k - 4k rpm before shifting. What it feels like under acceleration is like the transmission went into neutral for a few seconds then back into gear or into next gear under heavier acceleration.
I am unable to shift the transmission out of gear (drive into park) when i go to park the car. When i do shift into park the dash reads "shift into park" as if it doesn't recognize, even though the shifter is in park and i am unable to turn the car off. I sit there and "jiggle" the shift knob for several minutes until it turns the dash error message off and then the car will turn off and i can finally exit the car.this corresponds with a nhtsa recall # 11v595. And the cad dealer and gm are not cooperating with me to cover the fix charge. I am fearful of rolling or not being able to turn the car off, or worse.
The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost acceleration.the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was applied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was repaired, but the repairs were unknown. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
Shift module 208755589 dated 01/25/2010 other numbers gm 4447/812516052/05model5 would not shift into park, vehicle would not turn off and rolled causing an unsafe vehicle.
F the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. I tried to explain this to local dealer. They told me there is no recall on the seat. They fixed it for a price on one occasion, but it broke again. I think the other problem with the suspension has been fixed. But my drivers seat in in really bad shape, i had an accident in it. I believe this caused the accident because the seat is really in bad shape. I lean to left when i am driving.
Continue to drive after stopping the car, transmission will shift from first gear into second gear and stuck there, then the gear will shift normally only after u bring the car to a total stop and drive again.happened to me several times after i stopped the car at a traffic light before i was trying to get on the highway
Rakata recall.i was driving on interstate. Car shifted down and would not shift to higher gear for speed traveling causing 8000 rpm that resulted in engine blow.smoke everywhere. Car was towed.i need a new engine due to transmission shifting down plus whatever happened with transmission
My cadillac will go into drive and reverse but when i'm driving down the road it won't shift the rpms stay real high it wont shift rather should i say in my cadillac
Approximately 3 weeks ago, my 2010 cadillac srx started vibrating shuttering when down shifting between 20-25 mph. I took into dealer who stated needs new transmission at 84k miles.just today, it started vibrating hard down shifting at 40 mph.i had traction control issues around 61k miles which was covered under warranty, sensor failures, suspension and accumulator failure at 66k miles and a/c actuator faulty at 48k miles.most repairs on any vehicle i have ever owned and this is gma top of the line.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed.the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, which resumed normal operation. The problem recurred several times. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Driving my vehicle hose from radiator comes off and the transmission is contaminated, my suv engine shuts off, how is this not a manufacture defect, i just went over my miles with the warranty, please e-mail [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Upon acceleration from a complete stop or rolling stop, the vehicle will stall for approximately 2-3 seconds.this incident has occurred more than 5 times in the last year.the vehicle currently has 55,000 miles.
2010 cadillac srx. Consumer states while vehicle was in park, it rolled back and hit another vehicle *tgwthe consumer stated he read where a recall had been issued for the problem he experienced.the recall stated the shifter may inaccurately indicate the transmission is in park, when it is not, allowing the vehicle to roll away and cause a possible crash. The consumer referenced recall # 11v595000.
Automatic transmission on the 2010 cadillac srx performance trim sticks in low gear when trying to accelerate, leading to inability to safely merge onto the freeway or expressway. Once stuck, the only way to 'unstick' is to bring the car to a complete stop (0 mph), when the transmission shifts down and seems to 'reset' itself.merging onto oncoming traffic at higher speeds is consequently made unsafe due to the fact that the car cannot speed up reasonably and is restricted in terms of the maximum speed it can achieve on the 'stuck gear'.issue seems to replicate consistently and has been seen mostly during the first few minutes of driving the vehicle after it cools down.the automatic transmission that usually shifts b/w 2000 - 2500 rpm goes as high as 6000 rpm without budging from the 'stuck' gear.
On two separate occasions the first on may 21, the second on august 14, while driving my 8 month old 2010 cadillac srx with 8549 miles on it at speed, dashboard lights go crazy, i get a stabilitrak warning and the car automatically shifts into neutral.the only way to get into a gear to drive is to turn off the car let it sit for at least 90 seconds then re start and go.first trip to the dealershipthey could see what happened but not why it happened.they took things apart and put things together hoping to catch a loose fitting.second tow to the shop, august 14th, the car is still there as of 9/1.i am told that a part is needed and that part is on back order and won't be in for another 2 weeks or so.part needed is transmission control module.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 21v473000 (suspension) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, the traction control, stabilitrak, and rear axle warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn, with an abnormal noise. The contact mentioned that the tires were wearing unevenly due to the defective toe link. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to fix the defect. The dealer was contacted and hung up the phone when the contact asked for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Scratching noise from front tires.i have complained several times.at first service department claimed not to hear it, now they acknowledge the noise but state "it is something i have to live with".other customers have complained but there is not a fix, so until the problem can be identified and a fix established i just have to put up with the noise.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt tightened while driving, but released when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to harvey cadillac (2600 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512, (616) 965-1787), but the parts for the repair were not available. The diagnosis was unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available. The failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 10/15/18
I have had my car 6 years and it has been in the shop over and over from the engine lights ,stabilize bar, power steering, transmission problem, anti lock brake and traction control light, security light, catalytic convertor, would not start, remote not detected, sunroof leaks, oil leak, seatbelt, brakes problem, gas mile not accurate,
Hit head on by truck going approx.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph when he applied the brakes, the vehicle surged forward until crashing into another vehicle. The contact suffered injuries and was undergoing physical therapy for treatment. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was repaired for the body damages. The contact also stated that the failure occurred on a few occasions prior to the crash. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while attempting to park with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated and caused the contact to crash into two parked vehicles. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who performed a diagnostic and was unable to locate a failure code. The vehicle was also test driven but the failure did not recreate. The front end of the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 57,000. The consumer also stated the seat belt didn't hold him in place.updated 08/12/11.
Brakes are constantly locking up as i drive down the highway. The lights are defected. I've replaced the bulbs numerous times but you still can't see how to drive at night time. Also, something is wrong with the rear suspension.

While l was crossing the railroad tracks, the driver seat came out of alignment and jolted me forwards, thankfully l had my seat belt on. This happened right by the waffle house on chester road adjacent to bojangles and food lion 1/10/2020. I don't feel safe driving while the seat moves with every turn or bump l drive over on the road. Please advise.
Took vehicle into gm chevy dealer today for tire rotation and oil/filter change. No other issues. Dove vehicle home and noticed two lights on dashboard; abs and stabilitrak. Also message on dic indicating to service abs. No issues before dealer service.
While driving my wife had to push brake pedal further down to engage the brakes to slow or stop.problem came on relatively quickly.took to shop. Diagnosed as a leak in power brake booster. Also, the hood release mechanism in passenger compartment broke, making release of hood very difficult.dangerous in case of emergency requiring access to engine compartment.
The brakes randomly fail. When depressing the brake, it will be spongy and the pedal will go all the way to the floor without fully stopping the car. If the brakes are pumped, they usually return to normal. When researching this online, it became apparent that this is a common problem, and after speaking to cadillac, my impression is that they are not proactively trying to solve this potentially life threatening design flaw.
Went to stop on four separate occasions (so far) and my brake peddle went to the floor.had to run out of my lane to miss the car in front of me......very dangerous!!! mileage 134,000
Brakes stiff when pressed on, but won't slow down right away. Have to push hard really fast to come to quick stop. Usually after just starting up the vehicle and beginning to back up. Since i purchased it (used) in july 2019
Driving to work, went to stop at a red light, "no" brakes. I pumped the pedal a couple of times, finally attained enough pressure to stop the car. There were no signals, warning indicators noting to warn me of the stopping ability of the car. The previous day, the car was fine, good solid brake pedal. Took the car to the dealer, the car was inspected, fluid levels fine. Dealer suggested to bleed the brake system for entrapped air. I thought this was extremely strange. Also recommended the front brake pads were 60% gone, should be replaced. I followed the dealers recommendations, and the car responded, everything is fine now except i could have been killed or others injured by this failure.
When it is warm outside (above 75) when the brakes are applied, the pedal does not return to the neutral position, and the brakes are still engaged.we have to pull up on the brake pedal, and it comes back to neutral.
Brakes are constantly locking up as i drive down the highway. The lights are defected. I've replaced the bulbs numerous times but you still can't see how to drive at night time. Also, something is wrong with the rear suspension.
The brake pedal does not fully reset after being depressed. This causes the rear brake lights to remain on while vehicle is in motion, but brake is not actually being applied.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, additional brake pedal travel was required to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the traction control and service stabilitrak warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel and the steering wheel became firm. The contact restarted the vehicle to resume normal driving operation. The contact then received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 21v473000 (suspension) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 144,464. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that an abnormal noise was heard from the steering wheel when turned on initial engine start-up. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis or repairs. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the problem. The approximate failure was 36,027.
On the interstate (i-74 in indiana) traveling at 70mph the rear toe link broke.my car swayed terribly back and forth and almost spun out completely.i was able to get it to a repair shop (not cadillac) right off the highway.they said the rear toe link was broken and that caused the problem.when i called my local dealer cadillac said back in 2015 (before i owned the vehicle) there was a recall and the toe links were "adjusted".clearly the problem was not fixed.if there were any other cars even remotely close to me this could have had devastating consequences.the car is now in the shop (at some random shop in indiana) getting fixed but cadillac has said they will not cover the repair cost. I do not have any documentation yet but will provide it once the car is fixed.
Brought my 2010 cadillac srx to king o'rourke cadillac in smithtown, ny on jan 13,2015 for recall issue concerning the rear toe link, gm recall #14557. Car was there 2 days taking care of 4 recall issues. About 4 weeks and roughly 1000 miles later, on friday february 20, 2015, i used the vehicle to go to the doctors and noticed no problems on the way. My 7yr old son was with me. From the doctors i proceeded to my hairdresser, still no issues. At some point on the way home after leaving the hairdresser, i noticed that the car felt abnormally "floaty" and was swaying over bumps. I stopped at a 7-11 on hospital road and nys rt 27 in east patchogue where i attempted to inspect what i could on the vehicle, mostly the condition of the tires. I then left 7-11 and proceeded to enter the on ramp for nys rt27 east. As i accelerated in the on ramp, the vehicle started swaying more. After that i heard a metallic sound and the rear of the car started to jackknife. I was able to slow down and a police officer entering the highway behind me stopped to offer aid. After a quick look, he stated that the car had a broken axle. He left since i had already contacted my husband and he was on his way. My husband arrived shorty thereafter and informed me that he called for a tow truck. While waiting for roadside service to arrive he also inspected the vehicle and also took photos. He said the right rear toe link, which was supposed to have been inspected and replaced as necessary as per the recall notice at king o'rourke 4 weeks earlier had separated. He also indicated that the links were not replaced and failed due to damaged threading. This was confirmed by the mechanic that towed the car to my home. While gm corporate is trying to be helpful in this situation, kathy at king o'rourke is claiming they are not responsible saying "as the second owner of the car i cannot expect a new part."
Thank you
Car shook bad and made it hard to make turns, i broke down on the side of the road and had to buy a new drive shaft
The 2010 cadillac srx has an issue where a rubbing noise is heard anytime the vehicle is turned to the left or right.the issue is widespread with many srx owners reporting the same issue, as can be seen at the web site of www.cadillacowners.com.the vehicle has been to the dealership and they have been unable to resolve the issue.i have contacted cadillac customer service at 1-866-982-2339 over a week ago and have not yet received a response.it is very concerning that the issue seems related to the steering system of the vehicle and i am concerned that the vehicle is not safe.since the issue is widespread, i believe there is a serious need for a recall.i hope nhtsa can work with cadillac to get the issue addressed asap in order to prevent a tragedy involving the 2010 cadillac srx.
While driving my srx through downtown area, i was attempting to make a turn and it suddenly wouldn't steer in the direction i wanted it to and when i attempted to hit the brakes it dived directly into a brick wall and all four airbags deployed and car was declared as total loss.
I purchased my 2010 srx(used) in oct 2011 from king acura in birmingham, al. It had 23,000 miles on it at time of purchase.from the date of purchase i have had an issue with a rubbing noise when the wheels are turned to the left or right.the noise seems to be worse when the vehicle is cold.i have had the vehicle inspected at our local cadillac dealership, and though they did hear the rubbing noise, the technicians were unable to determine a cause.in addition to being very annoying, especially after paying premium prices for a luxury vehicle, i am concerned there may be a structural problem that will result in accident and injury.i am taking the vehicle back to the dealership, but i fear it is a futile effort as the mechanics seem to have no idea what is causing this noise.is this issue common, and if so, is it being researched and addressed by the engineers at cadillac?someone please address this and provide a fix! if a fix has been determined, please provide instructions on the procedures for having this problem resolved as soon as possible.

The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. An intermittent noise was heard while turning the steering wheel in either direction. All of a sudden i've been experiencing numerous things going wrong. First i started smelling this strange awful odor, not knowing that its some type of water leak soaking my carpet on the passenger side, underneath the mat. I had my car detailed on numerous occasion before noticing this water puddles on thursday morning. On top that, i get off work on friday afternoon all i see is water pouring from the roof right in front of the visor on the passenger side onto my seat. I'm beyond frustrated...i called the dealership to see if there were any recalls, and of course, it isn't for my car. I don't really know what to do at this point. I scheduled an appointment with the dealership to get an oil change and to look into the problem on this wednesday. I must go back to wheni first encountered the smell. I called the dealership to see if they could locate the smell and they told me in fact at my last oil change it could cost me thousands of dollars. I felt betrayed, after being overwhelmed with this issue after just paying $2,200 for the timing change. This vehicle is not that old and i am still paying for a vehicle that's thanks in advance[xxx]ps.stationary and in motion...information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My power hatch back opens on its own all the time.
I was in a minor collision. Ran into the back of someone. My airbags didn't deploy and my engine immediately caught on fire and in a few minutes my whole care was on fire and destroyed. There was no known reason how or why the fire started.
Rear power door (liftgate) reverses when opening and shuts by itself.this happens about 75% of the time i open the door.it usually reverses when 1/4 to 3/4 open, then shuts completely.re-opening the door normally succeeds without a problem.i was hit on the head last year by this.the local cadillac dealer is unable to fix this and they say detroit has no answer.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the rear door latch failed and would sporadically open independently.
Rear hatch automatically opens when i'm driving, when my vehicle is parked and locked, and also when my vehicle is on but idling either in a car wash, stop light, or stopped in traffic.this occurs randomly and sometimes the hatch will not shut until i turn off the car.
Paint peeling on side mirror and hood.
The rear hatch opened on it's own. This most recent time my husband did not notice that it had happened & entered our garage with it up, breaking the window & wiper unit.as we thought back, i had one time within the past 3 mo. When i was driving & discovered it was up. Also, each of us had one time when we came out of a store & found it up, even though we always lock the vehicle. We each dismissed these earlier incidents thinking we must have done something wrong.we are having the dealership that repairedthe damage check to see if they can find some defect that would cause this problem.

I was t-boned on the right side of the car.i was traveling about 10-15 mph.the vehicle that hit me was traveling about 10-15 mph.upon impact my auto.a cadillac srx suv flipped over on its left side.it appeared as though my car did not slide sideways at all from the impact but just flipped over on the left side.
I purchased the car new, but the front suspension has been a problem from the beginning.squeaks, rattles, vibrations and thumping prevailed from the beginningthe dealer replaced a strut after 10k, then steering and then bushings.however, all the symptoms above remained.at lower speeds, the vibrations worsened, as did the moaning, the rattling, etcetera.otherwise, the car as a whole has been reliable, including engine and brakes.i performed all scheduled maintenance religiously, i drive gently and mostly highway.a new dealer opened closer to home, and i began going to them.last december, i asked them to repair the front end, after years of enduring a lousy ride.the vehicle now had 80,000 miles.after3 days, and $1700, the dealership seemed to have fixed the issues, with new struts, bushings and steering coil.however, within 3 months, all the original defects reemerged.in fact, the vibrations worsened, with a feeling that the entire suspension was loose from the chassis, and vibrational thumps at highway driving sound like an 18 wheeler when it drives over train tracks, with booms, as if the axle disengages from the entire mono-frame.the engine has been reliable and fine, i like the interior and exterior looks.however, i strongly believe the front suspension is a fundamental design flaw and has robbed me from enjoying any moment in this vehicle.finally, i am getting more concerned about the safety of the front end.if the dealership can't improve it, when i schedule my service in two weeks, i will sell my car in despair, but i'm deeply disappointed in the performance of this vehicle, the awful ride quality, and chronic symptoms which no car should ever display.i sincerely hope you consider this problem in this vehicle.thanks.

At approximately 52,000 miles car developed a roar in front. I have been told that the front wheel hub assembly needs to be replaced.if this were to go on and not be replaced an accident could result from wheel bearing over heating or breaking off and causing accident.

Purchased 2010 cadillac srx new in 2010.. It now has 55,000 miles. At about 27,000 it started making some sort of rubbing, crunching grinding noise in the front end. Thought it might be ball joints or something else in the front end. Noise goes away after some driving but always comes back after sitting for awhile. Cadillac dealer cannot find problem. Noise goes away when i take it to dealer and comes back after i leave. I don't know if driving it may be dangerous. Noise most pronounced in the am when backing out of my garage.

My husband and i were returning from a trip to myrtle beach.we had just gotten on the new york state thruway.we had just passed a tractor trailer when all of a sudden the car immediately veered to the right.my husband attempted to correct this and it immediately veered to the left.it did this 2-3 times before he was able to get it under control.we pulled off to the left shoulder of the thruway and called for a tow truck. It was towed to otto cadillac in albany new york.this is the repair that was required.installed new 20867273:sl-n-link (05416-k) 20867 qty 1. This is what was found lr adjust link broken, replaced link and aligned rear tow to spec.service was done satisfactorilyno complaints with service department but we do not want anyone else to experience this.
Cadillac refuses to allow me to order a new 2010 srx with a spare tire.the car comes standard with a can of fix-a-flat type solution to fix your tire.however if the fix-a-flat solution cannot fix the hole, you are stranded on the highway until you can buy a new tire. The only way to get a spare tire on a new srx is if it is a fleet purchase (e.g. Rental car companies).it is impossible to believe that a car manufacturer can refuse to offer a spare tire as an option on a new car.this is totally a safety issue and should be illegal.please help me with this bizarre and almost unbelievable situation.thanks, vince
Car came w/ inflater kit,no spare tire. Had blowout. Took 5 hours to get towed and find new tire/replace.i have since ordered the spare from cadillac parts dept for $350 including jack and mounting kit!everyone should do if you travel far from home........easy cure!
2010 cadillac srx. Consumer writes in regards to nhta safety recall. Consumer would like to know when parts will be available to perform repairs.
The rear lift gate opens randomly. Parked in the garage, it opens.out shopping parked in a lot and return to car and it's open.parked in driveway, it opens.it happens whenever and wherever. When i notice the lift gate has opened, i close it and check it 20 minutes later only to find it open again.
I have only 16,000 miles on my vehicle and hardly use it. When i was driving the vehicle, the right side of the sunshade which covers the sunroof fell on me and my passenger starteling us and almost caused me to have an accident. There was only a plastic clip that went into the track that just broke, fell off and caused the whole right side of the sunshade to fail and fall on my passenger while i was driving on a city street. This is a sunshade that washardly even used. I notified cadillac but they didn't seem to care or want to do anything about it.
Parked. Less than 100 degrees outside. No loud music system. All of a sudden there was loud pop. My panoramic sunroof has shattered and pieces of it fell on my 3-year-old.
When i'm driving it automatically switches to another gear . Then it feels like it's holding back. As i continue toaccelerate it gets louder and louder sounding like a go cart. It will not go faster than 60 mph when it gets into this odd mode. To temporarily fix the problem i have to pull over and put it into park and then drive again but a minute or two goes by and it does it again. When i'm going about 70 mph on the highway it will not do it. It only happeneds when i'm slowing down or speeding up normally at stop signs and things. I hadn't had this car very long, i bought it from someone off of facebook and he claims that's never happened to him!i don't believe that though!
Condensation in the headlight covers. Considerably dims vision while night driving. High risk of lights shorting or going out completely because of water build up. Repairs are unreseasonably high.
The bearings on two of the tires the emissionsis giving me trouble i took it to a mechanic who changed everything car will not pass inspection
I was on an incline (driveway) at a restaurant when my vehicle rolled backwards while in drive almost hitting the vehicle behind me. I noticed it doing the same thing in driveways with a slope and approaching lights with hills. When pressing on the brake pedal on a slope, such as a highway ramp the truck roll backwards when releasing the brake pedal. This is very dangerous and scary at the same time. I have heard of other people saying their vehicle with this make and model doing the same thing. During the restaurant incident the people behind me was so irate thinking i was just backing up on them. It reminded me of having a vehicle with a stick shift when removing your feet off of the brake to press on the gas and it going in reverse instead of going forwards.
My power hatch back opens on its own all the time.
I opened the power tailgate with my remote control and reached into the car to get some items out of the back.instead of staying in the up position, the tailgate came down about 12 inches and then back up and then headed downward onto my back.i am 6 foot, three inches and had all i could do to keep it from crushing me.i managed to duck and pull out before it slammed down.if it would have been my much smaller wife, she very well could have been injured.i was parked and in a parking lot.since then, i have tried it several times and it continues to do the same thing rendering it totally useless.
11057 recall. Ac compressor not working
I have a cadillac srx 2010with 79k miles. I wasjust informed that ihave a timing chain that needs to be replaced. They tell me that because i have the 3.0l engine it is not covered by the recall on the 3.6l engine. But through my research onlinei find that there is no difference in the timing chain or the tensioners. The issue is if my engine were to seize and cause the vehicle to abruptly loose control someone or myself could be injured or die.
Inner/outer seals in moonroof had to be replaced due to the tubing being to short when made on the factory line.this is a pre-own vehicle that had only 60,000 miles. I was driving 70mpd on 94-e, it had thunder stormed the entire weekend, and was raining terribly when this all took place. The vehicle decreased in speed down to 17-20 and wouldn't go any faster.i exit the freeway, pulled into gas station to read my manual. Stability track was my message. I cranked fine, and drove ok but not more than 20mph. The morning after, apparently the break system had dried, the vehicle drove perfect at the speed it should. I still took it to shop because my concern was that this didn't happen again.when it rain, the vehicle would leak into the passenger side of the vehicle under the glove box and it was a nice puddle.i thought i left the window cracked. The shop mechanic found water spots in the moon roof area and the break area and underneath the floor carpet on the side where the water had leaked. The previous owner had purchased the weather tech matts, and that made me wonder when i purchased the car; why would a person purchase such expensive matts when it's a lease and will be getting returned.the mechanic informed me that if the leak wasn't fixed this would happen again, eventually effect the electrical system which will give incorrect readings of each functional ability. My vehicle was in the shop for 1 month. The moon roof was the only leak and the part took a week to come in. This was a very difficult task stated by the mechanic because if the moon roof isn't installed properly it could blow off when in high speed or will leak air. I've read many doing this process and many i've read just dealt with the tubing to stop the leak, not actually fixing the problem with the sunroof seals. I didn't take any photos, but i do have the $1,236.00.

They have a faulty product that the nhtsa should resolve before there is loss of life
While driving my car loses the power to accelerate when traveling 5 miles per hour to go faster, the rpm's go up but the car do not accelerate. In my research this is happening to a lot of cars.
While driving my srx through downtown area, i was attempting to make a turn and it suddenly wouldn't steer in the direction i wanted it to and when i attempted to hit the brakes it dived directly into a brick wall and all four airbags deployed and car was declared as total loss.
I took my 2010 cadillac srx in for an inspection to renrw my regisrtation and was told that be cause of the engine light being on it was an automatic fail. I was surprised because i had previously taken it the dealership that had given me this line, although your engine light is on, there is nothing wrong with your vehicle, its probally just a lose wire, nevermind that he never told me if it comes back on i would not pass in spection. So when i take it back to the dealer,i get a whole other story from what the mechanic, he told me, with out telling me he could not touch because it was a defective manufactured flaw. The wiring to the e-vap system is exposed to the enviornment. Nhtsa, please help me figure out what is going on with this vehicle, i really feel unsafe and believe that it is only by the grace of god that i have not been harmed bythhis vehicle ot harmed others. Only now it is at the dealership, waiting for me to sign off on $3000, 00 worth of repairs, of which 75% has nothing to do with the engine light being on.oh, before i forget i was told by the dealership they only knew of a couple of recalls on my vehicle, one had to do with the tightening of the torque, but i went online and i found over a dozen recalls for my vin. Please nhtsa, i hope you have some good news for me, because i feel like a statistic waiting to happen, but this is the thing everyone knew about the potential for alarm, but no one would say anything, even when asked. Attn: pls. Care
Tailgate will not stay up. If it would have hit my wife, it would been a disaster. Fortunately, she got out of the way in time. The car was stationary when my wife tried to open the tailgate. Tailgate will not stay up.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph when he applied the brakes, the vehicle surged forward until crashing into another vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. The contact that while driving the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound of water moving around the gas tank. The vehicle was taken to colonial cadillac of woburn (201 cambridge rd, woburn, ma 01801; (781) 935-7000) who stated that the drainage from the rear hatch was routed incorrectly causing water to seep into the subframe of the vehicle. The hood was replaced at cadillac of norwood (700 providence hwy, norwood, ma 02062; (781) 762-5900). The contact stated that the moon roof was replaced however, after the repair was performed, water started entering the vehicle from the moon roof. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage 145,000.
Condensation in headlights causing visibility issues and interfering with the electrical components for headlights to work properly. This is a major issue and needs to be fixed since i have a bad eyesight and young children in the home.
Headlights are getting extremely dimmed and now you can't even tell if they are on vehicle is underivable at night time. I have complained many times directly to cadillac customer care but no one care. Dealership ships wants 1500.00 per light to replace them. There should have been the recall long time ago.
Front headlights are low beam and make it difficult to drive at night. You can only see a few feet in front of the car.
Water draining into the passenger compartment, potential of damaging electronics and starting a fire. Water also created a carpeting problem on the passenger side. Gm issued a customer satisfaction bulletin, but california was excluded - why????"14225 customer satisfaction - sunroof drain hose leaks". After further research i found the 14225 document and the process needed to repair the drain tube. I was astonished to see that california cars are excluded from the campaign. How can this be, evidently it doesn't rain in california but the bulletin covered europe, puerto rico etc., who would publish a customer satisfaction document excluding states in which the same cars were purchased, and would be susceptible to the identical problem identified in the satisfaction bulletin. After taking my srx to the dealer it was confirmed that the drain tube as identified in the 14225 bulletin was the problem, thus allowing water from the sun roof drain, toflood into the passenger compartment. I authorized [xxx] to fix the leak at my expense ($449.41).
I have noticed excessive water droplets in headlights it's so bad visibility is a safety concern at night because you can see headlights don't even look like there on. I have to use high beams which puts others lives in danger due to being blinded by the bright lights that can lead into more crashes.
Bought this 2010 cadillac used in 2012. Have had repeated issues with condensation in lenses and poor visibilty to the point of not even sure lights are on? took it to cadillac while still underwarrany immediately after purchase. Cleaned outcondensarion and said it was all they could do. I am afraid that the lights will fail completely while xriving, resulting in damage or death. I'm serious.
Headlights have condensation in them & visability is almost non -existant...i cannot drive the vehicle after dark in fear for myself or other drivers...
Air conditioning system stopped working on a four year-old car.air conditioner used to defrost and cool interior car.when driving, windows can fog up and diminish visibility.in rainy days and nights, the windows fog up and it is not always safe to roll down window to assist in defogging windows.

What sounded like a power steering issue turned out to be a big problem with the left front hub assembly.only if i made a hard turn would the car sound like there was grinding.i did not need to be braking for the sound to occur.soft turns did not result in the grinding noise.thinking that it might be the brakes, we took it to a pep boys service station.the mechanic immediately called us back to show us "a bigger problem than we thought".of the three hub assembly bolts, one was missing and the other two were loose and on their way to falling out.the mechanic asked if we had had any front end work done.we had not.we suspect the bolts were not installed correctly when the car was made and over time the bolts had worked their way loose to the point that the rotor had obvious play, causing the grinding noise.i shudder to think what could have happened and consider myself very lucky that i didn't lose the wheel off of the car, especially since i was on the highway only the day before. We consider this episode to be a near-miss safety issue.
The bearings on two of the tires the emissionsis giving me trouble i took it to a mechanic who changed everything car will not pass inspection
My break going all the way dow when i have a bump on the streets i bring to cadillac dealer and they say everything is ok i can drive my carbut gm has not recall for this safety issue
