Hello, the reason for my email is that just this past monday, november 25 of 2013 the sunroof to my 2007 cadillac srx exploded while driving on the freeway with no explanation. This happened around 8pm on a cold and drizzly night. Big chunks of glass fell all over my husband and i leaving us with minor scratches, fortunately no one was severely hurt. The following morning of the incident i went online and came across several identical incidents with the same make and model of car, as well as others. We took the liberty of contacting gm corporate headquarters as it seems this may possibly be a factory defect. The vehicle is currently at the dealer ship but as of right now there has not been much help, much less an explanation. My biggest concern is the safety of the vehicle being that i am 8 1/2 months pregnant and this is our only vehicle. How safe will this be for my family? i do not feel comfortable and i am not at ease that i have not heard from the local cadillac dealership where all i have heard from them is an issue of how many miles the car has at the present time and not the fact that this was a life or death situation. The purpose of this is to seek out any kind of help, information, or advice as to what we can do to have this situation resolved. Thank you so much for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

I'm having transmission issues, i called gm and they verified no recalls were on this model, i have had 3 transmissions replaced and now found out that i have to have another transmission.

My ignition switch and non starting issues are documented with my 2007 cadillac srx...many of the issues listed in the recall for srx vehicles not in my year.there is a documented history of my vehicles having starting issues related to the battery being drained....and i believe the issue with the ignition switch may have been the problem all along.my year vehicle/vin is not included in the current recall, however, i truly am having the same issues with the ignition switch...it moves around....it wiggles....sometimes car won't start...mimics electrical problems back dash light indicators.there is an issue here.

Instrument panel lights do not come on after leaving a dark area while driving.

Please investigate! approx. 3 days ago i was coming to a stop sign in a residential area & applied brakes. Speed limit is 25, but i was going slower, just to the corner past my home. Not only did brakes not work- the car began to accelerate on its own to about 35-40 mph- no gas applied. Tried pumping brakes, shifting the car into neutral, reverse, park- all while at an unexpected accelerated speed. I plowed into a residential yard which had a small hill thinking maybe i could stop the car that way. That didn't work. I swerved back into the street; car still revving and moving forward. At that point i thought i was going to crash into a house, pole or another vehicle. I ended up halfway on the street and halfway on a curb after continuously trying the brakes and shifting from drive to park (vehicle still accelerating as if it was possessed!!) and just before hitting a light pole, with driver side door open thinking i'd rather jump out of a moving vehicle than die from ramming into a pole, house or car- i thought to turn physically turn off the ignition while the vehicle was in drive. This is the only was the car would stop moving. This was a very disturbing and dangerous experience. I have no doubt this is not a normal issue and should be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer- whatever it is. My mechanic still has not determined what the issue is. We know it isn't as simple as just fixing the brakes. I and/or other people could have been killed in the process and even worse, my two small children could have been in the car which thankfully they were not. This was such a traumatic experience that i no longer feel safe driving the car for fear it could happen again with my children inside. If i have the car repaired, i don't even know that i feel comfortable selling it to anyone else- it's that dangerous! please investigate. This problem is deadly. 2004 cadillac srx 4dr

The problem involves the vehicle's traction control system.the car intermittently after coming to a complete stop and turning into oncoming traffic will lose all acceleration power for two to three seconds.during these two to three seconds, their is a hopeless feeling as you quickly look into your rear view mirror and pray that the car behind is slowing down or swerving into the left lane to avoid a collision.this happens on dry and clean pavement without any legitimate reason.after rolling slowly without power the accelerator will suddenly engage.

We bought the vehicle from a used dealer with factory warranty remaining. I noticed gear oil leaking from the rear differential axle. I took the vehicle into heritage @ 30,000 miles. They replaced a vent hose bulletin 07-04-20-0019. I picked the vehicle up and found the leak even worse the next morning. I immediately took the vehicle back on 1/22/08 and has been in the shop to date 2/18/09. When returned vehicle the dealer had to contact gm to find out what to do next. They replace the entire rear differential axle.i was called to pick up our truck only to discover now the engine check light will not go off. Again they have to call gm to see what to do next. I'm told they will now be replacing the entire cam-shaft sensors and timing chains.

Car started rattleing when first starting. Shortly after my check engine light came on and it was running rough all the time then. Brought it to a mechanic and found out it's the timing chain. Super expensive to replace and per. Forums looks like tons of people with the 2006 srx had this problem as well. Nothing but constant repair bills with this crossover. I feel it is a safety issue as it could break at any time from being loose. I feel this should be recalled and replaced.

The contact owns a 2007 cadillac srx. While driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the steering wheel started to shake. The contact mentioned that there was a clicking sound emitting from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that there was a leak in the front of the vehicle and the fuel injector and mass air sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

2 timing chains within 8 months just put the second one in on saturday and 4 days later the car is making the same noise again. I have spoke to many people about this and they are telling me this is a problem with this motor.the second time the timing chain went i was driving down route 55 in njand the car shut off and would not start the first time it went i was in the driveway and would not stay running. I do not have the money to keep putting in this or the funds to get another car i expect when i pit money into the car i don't expect it to start running the way it was when the timing chain went.

The contact owns a 2007 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the rear differential leaked without warning. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken togermain cadillac (4200 morse crossing, columbus, oh 43219, (614) 421-2007) where the mechanic placed struts on the vehicle. My husband purchased my vehicle in october, 2006. Within 2 months it was returned to the service department of the dealer. The chrome handle had started peeling on the driver side, the rear window seal was leaking whenever it would rain and the check engine light was on. The leak was repaired, i was told that the engine light was on because we took the factory wheels off and they would call us when the handle came in. That never happened. Toward the middle of 2008 the following messages started showing up. Traction control on and power to engine reducedcausing my vehicle to stop in traffic suddenly this caused cars to swerve around me to prevent impact. The day in question i had just picked my [xxx] old daughter up from her audition. We were merging onto i-75 when i heard a loud sound come from the rear of the vehicle. My vehicle immediately spun out of control heading for the oncoming cars, big rigs and trucks. I missed the cement wall by the grace of god and landed in a snow embankment. The timing chainsand rear axle shaft were replaced and that did not help. Within 24 hours the vehicle was doing the same thing shutting power down to the engine and i had to return it to the dealer. They finally replaced the door handle after finding out that it had cut my finger causing me to receive 3 stitches. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle and would like for gm to step up and take it back without penalty. If i wanted the headache of being in and out of someone's service center i would have purchased a used vehicle or what they call a hoopty. 2007 srx camshaft drive chains wearing out[stretching]prematurely with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle.condition could cause failure of the chains leading to loss of motive power. Cadillac is aware of the problem but has declined to notify owners of the affected vehicles. Engine is the 3.6 liter v-6. Service writer at the dealership stated to me that cadillac had received a batch of the affected chains from their supplier, apparently there is a tsb[technical service bulletin]out in regards to this problem. Also ,stated that they had repaired about ten of this model to date.

Without any notice or lights or anything, my 2007 cadillac srx will loose power and decelerate from 60 to 0 in just a few seconds.i can have the gas pedal to the floor and the car does not move, even though the motor is still running.it is as if the car is in neutral.once you turn the car off and on again, it will run fine for a few days or a week or so before happening again.this has happened 4 or 5 times and the dealer says without being able to reproduce the problem there is nothing they can do.one time i was on a major highway and could not get out of the road.other vehicles were swerving around me at 60+ miles per hour.i could have been seriously injured any one of the times this has happened to my vehicle.this started at only 25,000 miles.i also have a grinding noise in the rear of the vehicle as well as when the front wheels are turned.this has been going on almost ever since i got the vehicle 14 months ago.it has been taken to the dealer time and time again and is still not fixed.i even called gm/cadillac and still got no satisfaction.i am afraid the wheels are going to fall off at anytime.i am alsoafraid i am going to be hurt when these problems happen on the highway, it is a company vehicle and i have to carry fellow employees with me on numerous occasions.i no longer carry anyone with me because of the potential danger.no one can tell me what is wrong or how to fix it and cadillac has been absolutely uncooperative with me.

I discovered fluid leaking under the vehicle and a banging, loud noise was present when shifting to 1st gear. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear differential gasket was ruptured. I called the gmc dealer in costa mesa, ca and i was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v589000 (power train), even if the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 65-70,000m. Please help me since the dealer said is not their responsability, because based on the vin number, this car is not included in the recall. The recall started on dec.20, 2007, so i'm almost 100% that my vehicle was built before that day in the year of 2007. Please help me since this noise is so loud and the banging is so powerfull, that my kids always think that i hit or somebodyelse hit our car.

I recently had a problem with my cadillac srx because the left wheel assembly failed and my tireliterally fell off the axle while i was driving.i thought i would bring this potentially serious problem to your attention because it appears to be a combination of design flaw and/or dealership repair issue. Either way this problem potentially may impact other people.i originally had my car serviced at tustin cadillac in california in june 2007 for a ?traction engaged? light problem. The traction light was always coming on when i acceleratedmy car from the stop position. This problem was fixed at this time and i had no problem until around july 19, 2007.on the same car side and tire the month earlier i experienced problems, there a serious problem because as i was told, a nut had come off the rear wheel axle assembly. I was originally told and assured by the service advisor that the two events of june and julywere not related to each other. Later the service manager expressed and told methe two were most likely associated. The service manager treated me very well and i appreciated his honesty and concern for my welfare.

3of my brake line burst at a stop light when stopping in a shop now aren't the line made of high grade metal that should last life of the car

2007 cadillac srx brakes were applied at 60 mph; brake pedal went to the floor and braking action was non-existent. Second push on the brake pedal provided some braking action and the vehicle successfully came to a stop on the shoulder. No dash warning lights or signals were observed. Vehicle was towed to a gm dealer; their inspection revealed that the right side front brake pipe(tubing) burst due to corrosion. Master brake cylinder was empty.

I was driving on the highway at 55 mph, when a loud pop noise from the rear happened. My vehicle spinned out of control several times in a circle before hitting a median barrier.i had the problem fixed in march 2014... The same problem happened again on 4/7/2014, except i didn't hit a median.

While driving down the highway at approximately 70mph all of a sudden the display in the vehicle said engine power reduced, the vehicle then lost all power and stopped on a four lane highway in the middle of traffic, and will no longer start. We believe the issue has to do with the timing chain. In doing some research, we found case #10287 and found that gm offered an extended warranty for the timing chain, until feb 2017. We purchased the vehicle february of 2018. We called gm and spoke with representatives that said there was in fact a recall for our exact make, model and year for the premature ware of the timing chain, but it was not with our vin.

Car started rattleing when first starting. Shortly after my check engine light came on and it was running rough all the time then. Brought it to a mechanic and found out it's the timing chain. I have taken my vehicle to this shop twice now for my timing. They claim they have repaired it twice & also replaced a variable valve timing solenoid. Almost 3,000.00. Once again it quit working months ago. Had it towed to another mechanic & when diagnosed, it went back to the timing chains for the 3rd time in less than a year. My mechanic went on line & informed me cadillac has has a lot of problems with the timing on their cars. Pls help. I am disabled & i think there should be a recall on this car. When i was driving it this last time, the car would speed up on its own which was very scary for me. When i got to my destination a mile up the road it died. I tried to start it & it would start but wouldn't turn over. When i let go of the key it stayed on & kept trying to start on its own, like i had the key turned. It did shut off finally when i turned it off. After the mechanic at cables fixed the timing the first time, i was informed if i didn't replace the variable valve timing solenoid, he could not guarantee the timing again so i paid to have that done as well. This all started 7-24-14 & has been in the shop off & on since then. I recently lost my youngest daughter & am disabled so my transportation is everything to me & i can't keep paying for this timing since i am now paying for funeral expenses along with many other related expenses. Pls pls help.

While driving on interstate, cruise control set to 68 mph., approximately 6:25 p.m., temperature in mid 60s, all windows rolled up, environmental set to 70, the ultraview sunroof of our 2007 cadillac srx imploded into the passenger compartment.there were no vehicles in front of us, so no debris tossed up, wife and son received small cuts to face and arms, no medical attention required.no foreign objects found when cleaning car to take to dealership.no indications/sounds sunroof was damaged and about to give way.car had just come from dealership for60000 mile milestone service and repair of small items.

I was driving on tx highway146 on 11/21/2012, the morning before thanksgiving, the sun-roof suddenly exploded; it was as loud as a gun shot if not louder, the sound startled me that i veered out of my lane; luckily, there was no one else on the road. Even though i was shocked, no one was hurt. I don't think it is an isolated incident but cadillac is not going to do anything about this unsafe sunroof.

Vehicle:2007 cadillac srx build date approximately april 2007problem:wheel lug nuts not staying tight.history:all 24 lug nuts found loose or finger tight (able to be removed by hand with socket but without using wrench) at 3,500 miles.tightened by owner using owner's calibrated/certified torque wrench and returned vehicle to dealer for inspection.dealer found all lug nuts tight.dealer returned car to owner. Nuts re-checked and foundloose on 3 wheels.returned to dealer to inspect and tighten.dealer found all lug nuts tight but broke one (1) wheel stud off tightening loose stud before reaching specified torque.dealer re-checked the previously verified nuts and found 3 nuts on one wheel at less than the proper torque. No sign of wheel damage found.all nuts and studs threaded smoothly and did not appear damaged.no evidencepaint acted as a shim thus preventing studs from achieving necessary clamping force.conclusion: determined problem is not that the wheel nuts were loose, but that they wouldn't stay tight. Possible cause(s):defective studs with improper steel hardening or material.hydrogen embrittlement of the hardened electroplated studs.overtightened studs which stretched beyond elastic limit.reason or time of possible over-tightening unknown; dealers records do not show wheels have been off the vehicle.driving the vehicle with loose nuts from time of assembly (not likely in modern assembly line methods) or loosened nuts (cause unknown) which sequentially stretched each until fatigued.no evidence this could have occurred without deforming holes in wheel.remedy:dealer removed and inspected wheel and axle flange and replaced all wheel studs and nuts.result: new studs are performing satisfactory and holding proper torque.not known if old parts were kept.
