This car continues to reduce accelerationwhile in motion on highways as well as main roads do to electrical problems, making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle, which classifies this vehicle as life threatening and unsafe for me and my family. I've taken my car to the dealership on many occasions to be repaired, but the problem continues to reoccur. I take my family's safety seriously so please help us with this repetitive dangerous issue.

Re: recall number 14v394. The fix gm is doing is a small plastic piece being glued into the key end. I've had my key stick in the ignition more than once and i wasn't even moving. I found a page in my manual (section 2 page 21)that explains what to do when your key gets stuck in the ignition.this tells me that the problem causing crashes is much more than a small key fix.the ignition needs to be replaced. I reported this to the gm hotline.they made a not of the fact that if anybody gets hurt in my car because of ignition issues, they will hear from my lawyer.they just said "ok,we'll make a note of it".

The key sticks in ignition. Difficult to get the "locking system" ?? to release so the key will come out. This has happened several times in the last 2 months. I heard about this website today on the radio. Hope you can help me.

Dt:the vehicle will shut down starting with air conditioner.then a warning light will come on,system theft service.and the rest of the vehicle will follow.consumer could not even get the key out of the ignition or turn it when it does this.the consumer was able to get the vehicle to pull to the side of the highway because she knew that when the air condition starts failing , it will shut down.will have to wait at least 25-30 minutes before it will start again. The first time this happened the dealership replaced the computer.the second time they replaced computer again.the third time they changed the module.consumer was not entirely sure of all the work the dealership did.there were no other known problems with the vehicle at this time.everything that the dealership has done to try to repair the problem has not helped. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, they told consumerthat they would reimburse her for what she paid.the replacements were done under warranty.the consumer did not want the vehicle since she feltit was unsafe.

The key failed to be released from the ignition after turning off engine , the vehicle can be shifted from park to drive with out depressing brake pedal, with the car running or not , it did have the dealer do the recall service for the shifter. The problem occurred after service .

Turn signals failed to work. This is an intermittent problem. The selected signal does not flash when the turn signal is activated as if the bulb is burnt out.went to the expense toreplace bulb three times, but, the bulbs were good. After replacing bulb the signal still did not work.after, several weeks it would start working again.a month or so later this happen again and took to dealer and again the bulb was replaced this time the bulb was burnt out.the signal worked for 2 months and went out again.i will never purchase another gm car. My dealer calls it the mystifying car. This is a manufacturingdefect that gm will not admit to. Shame on gm, no wonder americans are going foreign. The cost to replace this bulb is $85.00 each time.

I was driving and the vehicle just cut off on me every thing locked up even the brakes i couldn't stop so i chunked the gear in park to avoid from smashing into anyone i was so afraid but it crank right up after but i noticed the temperature gauge and the gas gaugewas no longer working..

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the ignition switch was replaced. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v394000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,288.

So many rusted frame complaints should have warranted a recall. In my case a frame should not have rusted badly in less than a year . Many even show on you -tube trying to fix rustedframes because no one is listening. Underbody coating actually should have been added . Thin sheet metal sections are the worst parts .

Stability traction control and anti-lock brakes and check engine light will not go off even after computer module wheel bearings 02 sensors were changed while driving on local city streets in mount vernon ny while turning the anti lock brakes engages and makes the brake pedal shake and the steering wheel gets tight this has been happening for about 2 years now and ongoing

Service stability system lights on display, car shudders as brakes ramdomly apply at any speed, pulling steering to left or right. Service abs on display, tractioncontrol off, and service car soon all on display. Car has had transfer case failure, all 4 hubs had bearing failure, brake booster failure, power seat module failure, and.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the odometer failed. The odometer no longer read mileages accurately and would display readngs very slowly. The failure occurred after the automatic transmission was replaced by an authorized dealer. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated they could not repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was 44,400.

Ran out of gas onthe ohio turnpike. Dic displayed 17 gallons usedon 20 gallon tank with what appeared to be 3 gallons remaining, i didn't ask the aaa tow to bring gas. The car was towed to cleveland, where the dealer said that the car was on empty. This cost $60.03 plus nearly $200.00 with car rental back to michigan, then additional gas and time off work to return to work to pick up the car. Didn't mind that the dealer made me feel like an idiot. I only wish that i would have been informed when i purchased the vehicle that the dic is not reliable. I could have had aaa bring gas free of charge and been on my way. Obviously, this really upset me.

My car was sitting in the driveway when i started to drive off the car jerked a little then i applied the break. Still in the driveway,i tried to continue on but noticed the car wouldn't move. Ahad it placed on a code reader,p2122,accelerator position sensor circuit d low .replaced pedal, still the same thing.

I purchased a 2004 srx from coleman cadillac in ewing, nj on 11/05/03. My srx was parked at columbia university when the ignition key got locked in the ignition cylinder. The repair cost atpotamkin cadillac came to a total of $2217.86. I also had to get my keys reprogrammed which totaled $181.35 back at coleman cadillac in nj. I recently read that the 2004 srx ignition was identified as a problem:the delphi (dlph.n) documents, released on wednesday by the u.s. National highway traffic safety administration, also may indicate that earlier versions of the cadillac srx, from model years 2004-2006, used a switch part from the 2003 ion. One document says the srx "in the beginning of the program" used switch parts from "delta" vehicles, the code name for the gm small-car family that includes the ion and cobalt.i'm sure you are aware of this issue and am asking that i receive a credit for the expense i incurred for the repair of the ignition cylinder and attendant cost'ecm, reprogramming, etc. The total amount of the credit i am asking is $2399.21. I have written to gm and had numerous discussions with their executive resource center (reference no. 71-1336933693402).an initial offer of $200 was withdrawn after calling to tell me that i would receive a recall notice in the mail. The only recall notice i have received was telling me to have a plug put in my ignition key.

I received a recall letter back in september 2014. In october 2014, i called the cadillac dealer in roseville, mn and i still haven't received a call or anything yet. I am not sure if i should be calling my insurance agent and attorney for assistant on this issue because i drive my kids to daycare every morning! i hope to hear from someone soon.

2004 cadillac srx.consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake failure.the consumer stated his wife was driving, when the brakes failed. The dealer was unable to find a problem. The consumer believed the vehicle stalled and lost power steering and brakes.

Ecm has replaced two times and the car keeps having electrical problem and will not accelerate. The problem happens atleast every 4-6 months after replacing ecm.

Every time i start my car i get service brake assist and service stability sys" and i called my mechanic and he said he has read a lot of complaints about this. After researching i did not want to go spend a lot of time and money since it seams no one has the answer to our problem. My car seams to run good it is just scary to think there might be something really wrong with my car.i hope you guys can get the answer to our problem[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Ran out of gas after putting gas in the car tried to start it and the ignition got stuck and continued to try to start on its own i had to pull the back to the off position i tried to start it again and it would not start and the lights on the dash and the radio control center did not come on. And car will not even try to start before this the car had been cutting off while driving down the road for no reason and it kept showing a check stability control warning and low tire pressure even though tires were not low at all

There is no cadillac dealer in santa rosa, although there used to be.the nearest one is 50 miles away.i have phoned them re. This recall but they do not return calls to do anything about it.can i go to any gm dealer to have it done as there is one locally?

Recurring electrical problems. First problem i had, the motor in the window went out, then the next electrical problem i had was the wiring for the blinkers kept going out, the next and most major electrical problem i'm still having is that when the car is turned off and secured the dashboard lights and radio comes back on within ten seconds after i've turned off and secured the car. The middle armrest keeps detaching at the back where the cell phone plug is located. The door locks (indicating latch by window) doesn't lift up. These electrical problems have been corrected by the dealer (cadillac) at least two times each.

My car wouldn't start and then the key would get stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn. The theft security light came on. Ecm engine control module was replaced and programmed. $1,000.

Service theft system came on one day and it wont give me the key back i have to take it out manualy also wont read miles, temperature, fuel and sometimes while on the road it will die completely, it reads service theft system and service stability

I have a problem with the key at first i try to take the key out of the ignition and won't come off and thenthey stoppedworking so i get a lock smith and they make me a new key which it cost me $392.00im trying to take my car to the dealer and at first they tell me they don't have the part i went this morningbecause they say the part was there andi try to talk tosomebody and no one wanted tohelp there. Soi was frustrated so i went to work and thint fix my car.

The car died on a cvs parking lot in troy,ny,towed back to boston,ma.after putting a new engine in on july,2016,the key couldn't come out, norwood cadilac dealer told us something is drewing the battery, after $920 electrical check, died again the following week while parked on our driveway. Then another$900 they disconnected the radio, dvd, telling us it'll be good for my daughter to drive back to college in ny. Two weeks later, same thing happened again, key won't come out, towed to them, now they told us need a ecm,we questioned them why they don't changethat in the first place, they said was the drawing back fed the ecm, cause the failer,so we would have to pay $1050 seprately and unsure how long it's good for.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the traction control system and check engine warning indicators were illuminated all the time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that there was water intrusion that shorted the harness on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 95047378414. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I was driving my vehicle once again, and the engine reduced power came up on the screen.this happened once on the freeway driving 70 miles per, the vehicle's speed went down all the way to 20 miles per hour, i had to pull over because it lost power then it shut off.this is very dangerous i could have been seriously hurt or another vehicle could hit me across the freeway.this also happened november3, 2017, as i was rolling out of the driveway the vehicle cut off in motion. Something is wrong with this vehicle losing power without no notification to the driver until it happens.this needs to be recalled for these 2004 srx cadillac vehicles.also the screens constantly says check stability system, or reduced engine power and traction control.please this has to be a recall before someone gets killed.

Ignition switch problems described in 2014 recall, but vin is not listed in the recall. Engine shuts off while driving down the freeway.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v394000 (electrical system), but the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Constantly, constant problems. Every time i turn around this car is stalling, the stability control light and traction control and abs lights come on , slowing acceleration and causing safety issues. There are times when i see the dic message board blinking and the car acts as though it is going to stop. These issues listed on this site from all these people needs to be investigated before someone is hurt or killed. I am now writing to cadillac because the issues are getting out of control and i am afraid for my and my child's life. I am moving forward to seek out an attorney for a lawsuit this is ridiculous.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx.while driving 5 mph or greater, the vehicle would shut off without warning.the dealer stated that the battery caused the failure and they replaced the battery.approximately eight months later, the failure recurred.the dealer stated that the battery caused the failure and replaced it a second time.approximately three months later, the failure occurred again.she was able to restart the vehicle.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, however, they replaced the crank shaft sensor.the failure continues to persist.as of september 24, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.the powertrain was unknown.the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 70,580.

My 2004 cad. Srx showed a left rear flat tire.i pulled the vehicle to a level, asphalted, scenic overlook area, 23 miles from page, az.i could not get the shifter from drive into park gear, nor would the key turn or release from the ignition.i got out to check and change tire, spare would not release, either.i called on-star, gave emergency details, to first advisor, then advance diagnostics. I got out of car, it surged, backwards, with the emergency brake, completely on, and it accelerated, taking me with it, i pushed away, and it kept accelerating over the scenic overlook, being destroyed. On-star never contacted the police, ambulance, or me, even 1 week after the accident, i had to call them and request the audio or transcript of the malfunctions, and crash.

We purchased a 2004 v8 awd cadillac srx soon after we got it the stability control system began to come on. It has caused us to jerk the wheel while driving at high speeds b/c it came on and pulled the car to the opposite way. When we brake the steering wheel locks up and is hard for us to control causing us to almost running into other vehicles. During this time both my right and left rear hub assemblies went out we believe the system turning on and off caused this. We have had both hub assemblies replaced new tires added on and had all tires aligned hoping this would solve the problem. To our surprise this did not solve the problem it just keeps on recurring we do not know what to do. We believe there should be a recall b/c alot of people are complaining and this could cause an accident. Does someone have to be hurt in order for something to be done about it. Thank you for your time i hope to hear back from you on this situation.

On several occasions the stability system has engaged on its own, causing my car to brake on its own and swerve and skid to the right and left, brakes shudder and goes from 70 mph to 30 in a few seconds... It has happened at different speeds in different climate conditions.the message on screen says stability system engaged, then traction engaged, which i have turned off. I brought my car into a dealer after the first experience and they replaced the stability system sensor, at a cost near $600 to me! a couple weeks went by with nothing wrong, we moved across texas and now its happening daily!!! the dealerships don't know what is wrong and 'havent heard any complaints like mine', which i find very hard to believe after reading the complaints listed here and in other blogs/websites!!this is a very dangerous problem that gm really needs to fix, i drive my kids around in this car and depend on it to get me to and from work safely not veering me off road possibly causing a major accident!!! i like many other people work hard to pay my car note and cant afford $600 'fixes' that dont fix!!!

We have owned a 2004 cadillac srxfor about a year and a half.for the past 6 months it has been giving us an error code service stability system.i took in into my local mechanic but he said i would need to take it to the dealer but since the check engine light came on at the same time he ran a diagnostic and replaced several components including the mac sensor.after about a month i finally was able to get into the dealer ken batchellor in san antonio, tx. In the mean time the check engine light was back on and the car was starting to lock up on the freeway when the error code came on.this was truly a frightening and very dangerous situation.the only way to temporarily fix the situation was to stop the vehicle turn it off and restart the car.the dealer replaced the same things as the my mechanic and a few other things and said it was fixed.i took it home and immediately the problem came back and i took it back to the dealer.he replaced the catalytic converter and said the steering wheel sensor needed to be replaced.after paying my mechanic $540, the dealer $1700, i was not willing to spend the $1800 for the sensor.i feel along with the hundreds of other people with this problem that this should be a recall and gm should have to reimburse those of us that have spent money because the dealers say there is no coverage.please check out the many blogs online such as www.edmonds.com and about automobile.com to see how big of an issue this is and how dangerous this situation is.thank you for your time.

2004 srx stability sys ready comes onand the steering pulls left or right abs light , brake light , comes onno one seems to know what it is or what to dohelp

Electronic stability control turns itself on for no reason and causes steering issues.at high speeds this could lead to a serious accident.i am afraid to drive my car.i have been to the dealership and they act like they have never heard of this problem before, but i have seen and heard of other cases.please look into this.

My traction control/stability system will engage while i am driving down the road unless i manually disable it.this could very easily cause an accident because the car will be jerked and pulled either to the left or right.it began in january of 2009 and continues to do this even after trying many things to fix the problem.

Cadillac srx 2004, the stabilizer keeps engaging and when it engages, it jerks the car, it makes the car swerve. It engages without notice and if you are not paying attention when it engages, youlose control of the car.

My 2004 cadillac srx has stability system engagedkeeps coming on and i feel vibration . I took it to the dealer and can't find any reading on the onboard computer. They say there's no manufacturer information on this problem. Dealer can't do anything about it. They even drove the car home to verify the problem and they stability system engaged lite came on but can't get reading from car's on board computer.

While driving on a straight stretch of interstate on dry pavement, the stability system intermittently engages causing the abs to engage. The vehicle will veer to one side (has gone both r and l) as the abs applies the brakes and the stability system attempts to correct for a problem that doesnt exist. The "stability system engaged" message appears on the touch screen. Additionally, the stability system will engage (again, "stability system engaged" message appears) without the abs engaging. This will often cause a slight course correction, but no dramatic veer to one side. The abs recently engaged 2 times during a 90 mile trip with the stability system engaging (no abs) an additional 6-8 times. At no point were road conditions impared in any way. Weather was mid 60s-low 70's and sunny. The issue occured without the crusie control on (first time, abs engaged) and with the cruise control on(abs never engaged). When the abs engaged, the vehicle would veer enough to move partially into another lane. Had there been more traffic, i could have easily been involved in an accident at highway speeds. Speeds at the time of the incidents varied from 55-70.

The stability system engaged message displays as i am driving. At first it was only at speeds over 45mph. Recently it comes on at any speed during any road or weather conditions. When the message appears the car sways as if a gust of wind is blowing the car. At times i hear a grinding noise as well. I have almost lost control of the vehicle when this happens and i am driving on the interstate at speeds over 60mph. Once the message appeared as i was applying the brakes and there was a deep grinding noise and feeling. The movement the car makes when the stability system engages makes the vehicle very unsafe to drive. I have taken the vehicle to 2 different repair shops (one being an authorized cadillac dealership) 3 different times, spent over a thousand dollars in repair attempts, and no one seems to have an answer how to fix the problem. The car is unsafe to drive with such unpredictable conditions. There has to be an answer to this potentially fatal defect on this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle vibrated, the wheels seized, and the electronic stability control warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the stability sensor at the end of the steering column and a sensor in the rear passenger side wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,152.updated 08/03/16*ljthe consumer stated while driving home, the vehicle made a hard left, causing him to violently go into anuncontrollable skid.when he hit the brake, the vehicle vibrated. Updated 08/10/16.

Even the slightest bump in the road sends the vehicle swerving. The whole car rattles. When trying to accelerate it hesitates before going, same with decelerating. Even when in residential areas and flat surfaces.

I have a 2004 cadillac srx that continually gives me a "stability control engaged" on the navigation system screen.when this happens the brakes start to lock.i have done some research on the internet and have found that this is a common problem with the 2004.the dealership can not find the problem to fix it and suggested i get new tires that came from gm back on the car instead of the tires i have now that have been on the car for a year.if the tires were a problem, it should have started a year ago when i got new tires.i have had the tires rebalanced and proper air put in them and the problem still exists.i have talked with several tire experts and no one has ever heard that you can only put one type of tire on the cadillac's.i put the same size just a different brand to quite the road noise in the car.i don't know who to turn to at this point.it makes is very uncomfortable driving a car when you do not know when this will engage and make the car feel unstable.i'm afraid to let my wife drive it at this time and this is our family car.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, he noticed that the "service stability system" light illuminated on the instrumental panel. The vehicle then began to veer either to the left or the right. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000. Updated 2/23/11 updated 07/11/11

I have a 2004 cadillac srx. A few days ago the "stability system engaged" message started appearing on the display screen. It is occurring several times as i drive. The car all of a sudden makes a noise and jerks and the message flashes.this happens on the highway and general roads. It's scary and i feel unsafe in the car with my young children.

At any speed and at least 100 times or more, the vehicle stability control activates and causes the vehicle to pull to the left. At freeway speeds it can be a very strong pull to the left and it also makes a noise. The dealer doesnt seem to know why. When the stability system kicks in at 60 to 70 mph and it pulls to the left so hard it it is dangerous, it also makes a sound but i dont know what the sound is. It is dangerous as i have to correct for the sudden pull to the left. I also researched this on the internet and found that many people are having the same experience as me. I believe that there should be a recall on this problem and it should be solved. If this rapid pull to the left gets any worse, i believe it is possible that it could cause a wreck or roll over due to over correction of the pull to the left. Please investigate this problem.

While merging on to the interstate approx 2 miles from my starting place, the "stability system engaged" message came on to my display screen. This had happened to me before on a dry/warm road. I cleared the message and continued down the interstate. Approx. 5 miles down the road the message came on again, there was a grinding vibration in the breaks and the vehicle locked. It slowed to about 45 mph before i was able to use the steering wheel/accelerator again. The message then changed to "service stability system" and the check engine light began flashing. The grinding continued and i drove 45 the remainder of the way to my destination.

My 2004 cadillac srx when driving at highway speeds at approximately 65 mph,the stability control system engages causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle for several seconds.car vibrates, steering wheel stiffens where you can not steer, brakes are engaged, and slows down 5-10 mph instantly causing traffic behind you to back up and could run into you.if it were to happen in wet conditions the vehicle will lose control and spin into traffic causing serious injury or death.it is very scary.it happens almost every five miles and stability control must be disengaged to prevent from happening.

I bought the srx used in september and since then i have had one issue after another. If i accelerate too quickly my transmission, (i think), has a very loud ratcheting/popping sound. My service suspension system error msg comes on every time i start my vehicle. I have read that this could be related to the air compressor not working or faulty sensors.my service stability system error msg also comes on every time i start my vehicle. This seems to cause the traction control feature to mess up, which then on occasion when i press my brakes, even slightly, my brakes lock up and i skid for just a second.my power steering fluid seems to continually leak or the pump is bad. I have refilled my resovoir many times and i constantly have a very loud "whining" sound. My power steering system also seems to go out occasionally and my vehicle is very difficult to turn.

Stabilizing system engaged continually causing vehicle to slow down and strange grinding noise if attempt to stop. Happens daily, at dealer nothing was found wrong, but they are aware of the problem.

2004 cadillac srx. While driving vehicle it's "stability system engages" and brakes the vehicle by itself. This unintentional braking happen at any speed and road conditions. On icy or wet roads it is particularly dangerous as the car will pull strongly to the left and could easily cause an accident. The public should be made aware of this problem. This happens constantly and actually wears out the brakes.

Since oct. 2014 i have had issues with the"stability system" to be serviced yet it works??? the hood hasn't ever stayed up which had been a pain being starting a couple months ago the battery starting having issues in the cold weather. Something is draining it and i don't know from where.

2004 cadillac srx has "service stability control" message come up and reading several forums, seems to be a common occurrence with these vehicles. From what i've read, the condition gets worse to the point of endangering the driver and passengers. There needs to be a recall to fix this problem before people start getting injured. Also keep getting "check tire pressure" warning without the tires being low.

Driving straight down a two lane road immediately started losing power. The tc light and engine light came on and stayed on. Also, the stability system check came on. Try to reset but tested it according to manual and as backing out of driveway the lights come back on and stay on. Purchased vehicle in april 2017 and one thing after another seems to happen. How do i know recalls have been fixed? when on look up on nhtsa shows there are no unfixed recalls but i believe they've never been fixed. Also, after rainy days if you lift up tailgate water comes pouring out.

Cadillac srx recall. When driving vechile, the stability system engage come on and causes the vechile to pull to either side. Press ok button and it straightened up.

Power steering engages on its own and causes problems when i am turning into traffic. There is a problem with the power steering pump that is causing it to turn only when in motion and it is still hard to turn.

The stability system engages and disengages on its own. I have seen several fourms and reports as to people having the same issue . Happens at least 1 time a day but usually several times a day.when you are driving down the road (which is the only time it physically engages it) the stability system warning like comes on and says to service stability system and the system will engage on it's own. This is extremely dangerous as when this happens the car applys the brakes on it's own and they get alot of vibrations and it pushes the car left or right from the front end , almost got into a wreck and would love for a recall to me published for this because this is a serious safety concern .

The stability system engaged keeps coming on in dash. Causing it to pull one way or the other. The vehicle was in motion at time on highway.

I have a 2004 srx awd. I always get the "stability system engaged" message with some vibration and vehicle rear side goes left side and after little time its goes away . Sometimes when i step on the brake i would get a grunting sound then the "griding" from brake pedal. It happens on when vehicle speed is more than 40 mph& few times i almost hit another vehicle in other lane.

Stability light warning comes on, mechanic cannot find a defect. However, started locking up front wheels when turning. Makes a grinding noise. So far no major issues, but could be very dangerous if it locks at the wrong time. I have 4 small children, concerned about safety of this issue.cannot seem to get it fixed. Occurs about once daily, usually when turning out of a stop to the left (?).nothing has been replaced, as there seems to be no defect found by the mechanic. Living in germany, mechanic is gm certified.

The contact owns a2004 cadillac srx.the contact was driving approximately 65 mph on normal road conditions when the "stability control" warning light indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.there was noise outside of the vehicle, followed by the brake system locking.the vehicle began to skid in one direction for few seconds.the driver was able to gain control and continue operation.the failures occurred intermittently.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealerfor inspection on three separate occasions for the identical failures and the technicians were unable to duplicate the failures.recently, the vehicle was repaired at the authorized dealer for the malfunctions.the failure mileage was 66,000.the current mileage was 67,000.

When driving the car begins to shake and pulls hard to the right. At the same time the stability system engaged message pops up. It does this constantly, i never take a drive without the message appearing. This morning the same happened on the way to work, but the worst ever. I almost lost control of the car and swerved in front of a school bus on the freeway. I attempted to accelerate but the car acted like a combination of having a flat tire and running out of gas. Reading cadillac srx problem with stability system thread on edmunds.com, i realize that this is a manufacturing issue. Thankfully no one has died yet, but after this mornings incident, the outcome if i would have hit the school bus going 60 on the freeway, could have been tragic.

When driving under normal conditions the stability control activates with out provocation causing loss of control of the vehicle. The latest occurred 4/09/2010 the stability control activated under dry weather excellent driving conditions causing the vehicle to pull hard to the left and go into limp mode. I researched the internet to find that many owners of cadillac srx's are experiencing same condition. I've had the vehicle at cadillac dealership 3 times in the last 120 days each time told that the vehicle had been repaired only to find the problem still exists.

Service theft system came on one day and it wont give me the key back i have to take it out manualy also wont read miles, temperature, fuel and sometimes while on the road it will die completely, it reads service theft system and service stability

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. While driving 65 mph, the stability control system engaged and the vehicle begun to fishtail. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

So many rusted frame complaints should have warranted a recall. In my case a frame should not have rusted badly in less than a year . Many even show on you -tube trying to fix rustedframes because no one is listening. Underbody coating actually should have been added . Thin sheet metal sections are the worst parts .

Having problems with my cadillac srx 2004 model, it seems many are... My "traction/ stability control" came on going 70 mph up a hill (which i live in a valley so if you go off the road you might drop 100 ft) with a vehicle behind me, my vehicle wouldn't accelerate the vehicle behind me almost rear ended me and my 3 children, when i finally got it to the shoulder and stopped it began idling very rough, i turned off the vehicle waited a few min and turned it back on and all was fine, this is very unsafe!! this problem needs to be investigated and recalled before someone gets killed!! we called the gm dealership that we recently had replace our transfer case (for yet again another recurring problem in this vehicle) and were told to wait until it happens a few more times before bringing it in?!? this is my only transportation and it is parked, i refuse to put my children in an unsafe vehicle i'd rather walk!

Random engine stall, after engine is fully warmed up and high humidity (especially during raining).obd ii code indicating p2135, p2119, p2176, p0638, p1101.(each time the obd ii code might be slightly different) the engine could stall during idle (stopping in front of red light), slow moving, or highway speed.persisted since summer of 2012. Dealer already replaced throttle body, coil pack, spark plugs and ecm.dealer could not reproduce the problem, and could not figure out a fix.

My car wouldn't start and then the key would get stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn. The theft security light came on. Ecm engine control module was replaced and programmed. $1,000.

I origanally took car in forbad egine in which potamkin dealer in manhattan replaced with a brand new one. This was in june of 2014 and i had to take it back about 4 to 5 different times for issues with the engine and that cause problems to the transmission. Theres too much problems with this car to even explain in detail and the car has been there over a year in and out.

While driving on california freeway, engine lost power and couldn't be restarted.mechanic says that timing chains broke causing catastrophic, irreparable damage to engine and pistons.apparently, cadillac srx owners have frequently complained of timing chain issues, but gm has not recalled these vehicles.losing engine power on a freeway is a very dangerous situation.

Ac compressor froze when i turned the ac on. This in turn snapped my serpentine belt and my car broke down. Replaced serpentine belt ($150) and ac compressor ($500) was replaced along with condenser ($200).

Having just received a full clean bill of health from a ase certified mechanic at plaza tire auto service 1 day before, and having had 1200 dollars of safety and maintenance replacements by the aforementioned business the same day, a very serious engineering design flaw has been found. Without heretofore any warning or symptoms whatsoever, the power steering pump seized (pump had been checked by mechanic and was full and in working order, as were all other equipment requiring fluids). This caused the idler pulley to self destroy the mounting by which it is attached to the northstar engine block. This mounting point, rather than consisting of a wholly separate mounting or timing cover, is in fact part of the cast aluminum engine block itself. This renders the part impossible to fix, and requires the entire engine to be replaced by me!!! this is not only unacceptable of a gm product with only 131000 miles on it, it is obscene from an engineering and design standpoint. Immediately lost all steering capabilities.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the transmission engaged the traction control independently and the vehicle would brake and drive at the same time. An abnormal screeching sound was heard when the failures occurred. There were no warning indicators illuminated; however, the message "stability system engaged" appeared. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to ed bozarth chevrolet (5501 drexel road, las vegas, nv 89130, (702) 948-8011), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 123,000.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, the vehicle would stall and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. On some occasions, all the warning indicators would illuminate. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred after a few minutes of driving. The vehicle was taken to chevrolet of goldsboro (3300 us 70 bypass east, goldsboro, nc 27534, (919) 751-2200) where it was diagnosed, but the contact was unaware of the results. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 230,000.

When the light turn green i put my foot on the accelerator and my truck start making a loud rattling / thumping noise. Once the 2004 srx change gears then the vehicle is rolling with no problem. I took my truck to cadillac and i have paperwork that say i need a bearing hub on the left tire thinking that's what the problem was but that was not the problem. I had the repairs done on both passenger hubs and still the noise is there. I went to several repair shops and some say the transfer case or the chain is slipping. I bought the vehicle at the end of february from a used car lot not knowing what i was getting myself into. I'm afraid to have my kids in the truck with me because when i take off fast the knocking will start. I have to take my foot off the accelerator and go slow until the truck pick up the right amount of speed to stop from hearing the knocking noise. If i'm at a stop sign or a light i have to take off real, real slow so i want hear the noise. I hate stopping because i fear that someone will hit me from behind for going so slow. It's very annoying when your spending your hard earned money on a vehicle and paying a note and this problem is not solve yet.

About a week after i bought my 2004 cadillac srx, it started jerking and making a loud clicking or popping sound, later found out that a few sprockets inside the transfer case had broke off and the chain? was slipping. This was the rear, the carlots mechanic fixed it, then the battery and alternator had to be replaced and the throttle body intake had to be opened and cleaned because it wasnt opening like it is designed to do, and so the exhaust was getting trapped in the exhaust manifold. One summer day in traffic it cut off all power, we ended up getting it started again to get out of the road, and it got us back home, that was a year ago and it hasnt ran since. Also if you had traction control turned on, the abs would apply themselves which sometimes felt unsafe. Always got an error message on the screen saying to service the stablitrax system or to repair the traction control and the tire things that tell you how much air is in each tire, we had 1 that didnt register at all. The sunroof shade was shut when i bought it and in traffic it sprung open fast and loud and it was a scary site when you have children in the backseat and your in heavy traffic. This vehicle needs several recalls issued and fixed, so many have reported the same issues over and over, some life threatening and no one has done anything to help these people, if like me low income they dont want to go thru buying another car they want their cadillac srx fixed so they can actually get use of what they paid for.the car lot told me to use unleaded gasoline but the book says to use premium, can gm clear this up please!!

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds, there was a loss of all vehicle power, and the engine stalled without warning.the engine would not restart.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem.the manufacturer was alerted.

I purchased this certified vehicle in 2007with 35,000 miles my engine light has been coming on since 12/08 i went to he dealership on several occasions and the told me it was my gas cap or onetime they said it was my oil that needed to be changed. I continuously had this problem bringing my vehicle back and forth to get repaired and my engine light is still on and now i have a problem with my engine where the dealership advised me not to drive my vehicle.

No start, engine run rough and shuts off.

My 6 year old daughter was getting her backpack out of the back and leaned up against the exhaust pipe and received 2nd degree burns on her upper thigh.she is now 8 years old and has a permanent scar on her upper thigh.she has been branded for life.she has a scar that is a circle from the exhaust pipe.the doctor said because of the severity of the burn, she will always have the scar since it damaged her skin.i contacted cadillac directly and asked them to correct the problem.unfortunately they have not.

Exhaust pipe so hot after driving that it burned my knee when brushed against it taking items out of rear storage area. 2004 srx cadillac

While leaning inside of the vehicle, the exhaust pipeburned the occupant's leg.please provide additional information.

When reaching into the tailgate, your legs are frequently burnt if you come too close to the tailpipes that protrude from under the vehicle.

My daughter was burned twice by the tailpipe on the 2004 srx.the first time i called cadillac they told me that this was the only case on file regarding the tailpipe.six weeks later she was severely burned again.this time cadillac opened a case file and the case was closed because the vehicle was built per cadillac specifications.

Dt: the consumer states that the tail pipe sticks out from the bumper three quarters of an inch on his 2004 cadillac srx. The consumer contacted gmand they told him that was theway it was manufactured.theconsumer burned and his daughter burned their legs on the tail pipe.

Floor mat on driver side rolls up and sticks under accelerator.

Front turn signals do not work.vehicle has been to the dealer no less than 6 times throughout it's life.i have personally changed 2 turn signal bulbs.i am an engineer... And the bulbs are fully functional after replacement.the bulbs "socket" is plastic with a wire.it appears the wire melts the plastic and the turn signal stops working prematurely.this might be fixed with bulb that is of all glass construction (which gm does not use and not available at the local parts store).or possibly the turn signal circuit is using too much current for this application.either way this is a certain design defect... Noted on cadillac forums.i just replaced another bulb and the next day it is not working again.the problem i find, is there is no way to fix this problem.there are no "faulty" parts to replace.it must be a design defect.and owners of these vehicles are a liability on the road.

While driving down the highway and exiting on an ingress on the exit ramp i initially noticed a ratcheting sound from the rear of my vehicle. (i thought i'd ran over something so i got out and checked). After about another day i heard the sound again, while at the same time noticing my car not moving forward given the applied power that i was providing. Crawled under my vehicle again when i arrived at home only to find nothing. After a few weeks, and while leaving from a dead stop under load, or while trying to accelerate into traffic the car was not pulling properly causing me to nearly become rear ended on several (four) occasions that week. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who told me that it was the transfer case, and repaired for $2000.00. The same thing is now happening once again starting in oct of 2014 and after doing my research on cadillac forums, gm forums, cadillac owners.com, car id, cars.com, just answer.car, autofrenzy.net, carcomplaints.com, nhtsa (powertrain/drivetrain problems), as well as this forum safercar.gov, i have found well over 647 complaints for failure of the transfer case in the state of georgia alone. There were nearly 73,000 first gen srx sold with awd, and from all of the owners that i have gathered and from all that i have spoken with they have all had some problem. This is not a problem that is solely with the srx, its also with the cts, as well as the sts. These $47,000 to $58,000.00 plus dollar vehicles are a road hazard not only their drivers, but to all that share the road.the srx cases need to be recalled and (permanently) repaired or replaced.i ask all owners that spent their hard earned monies on these flawed vehicles, once again from gm, to call, write, and e-mail or do them all forums, your government officials, the nhtsa and have all of your attorney's on standby.

The front blinker and running lights are constantly burning out. I've replaced them 3 times in 3 years and it is very expensive to do. The bulbs are one of the most expensive blinker bulbs to purchase ( according to my parts store) and it takes over an hourto get to the bulb. What a mess!

Turn signal/day time running lights burn out every other month.i have had the vehicle for 3 years and have had to replace the bulb and socket on both sides 6 separate times.

My headlights do not provide enough light to be safe. I cannot see when they are on the low beam, and others flash their lights at me as if to say they can't see me either. I can see well when the high beams are on, then oncoming traffic flashes they are too bright and blinding them. I have seen numerous reports of this issue for this vehicle on the internet.this is not an isolated incident. I have stopped driving at night due to the fact i can not see. After all the complaints that ave been file cadillac needs to issue a recall, and fix the problem. I have had to change my life style because of this issue. I guess it is going to take someone/someone's getting killed before this issue is corrected by cadillac. This issue was not disclosedto me when i bought the car.

Design and repair of daytime running lights (drl) is so poor that one is tempted to disconnect them.the drl bulb is the same as the turn signal bulb.evidently, the housing for this bulb was designed in plastic, as is common with many light housings.however, the design failed to consider that the drl is on whenever the car is on.over time, and frequently, there is a problem with either the bulb or the housing or the associated wiring, due to heat.then, one or several of the components must be replaced.not so bad, except that the overall lamp housing can only be accessed by removing multiple elements of bodywork.this can be difficult and time-consuming, then one gets to remove the actual housing, which is awkwardly placed for removing the retaining bolts.i have owned my 2004 srx for three years and have encountered multiple failures of the drl and turn signals.sometimes they start working again without repair, and sometimes repair is required.the safety issue is that we have drls for a reason, and we have turn signals for a reason.there are multiple blogs containing sad stories of how hard it is to make a bulb change, and i personally often see this model being driven (as i am now) with only one light working.in general, this seems a very safe and reliable car; seems that gm could have designed the bulb housing of a sturdier material.

Turn signals failed to work.this is an intermittent problem which the dealer has failed to correct.the selected signal does not flash when the turn signal is activated.the operator will then cancel the signal and activate the other side and the signal still does not flash.then, several minutes later, both signals work properly.

The consumer has run out of gas on two occasions.the vehicle is not equipped with a light that illuminates when the fuel level is low.the vehicle's computer did beep once alerting the consumer of low fuel but it did not beep again.the gas tank hold 20 gallons of fuel.the trip computer calculates the amount of miles left based on the volume in the tank.when the trip computer indicated there was 5 gallon there was only 3.25 gallons.

Srx 2004 has already had transmission rebuilt and i am trying to get throttle body also replaced after throttle did not respond and coasted backwards almost catching 3 teens running between my car and one behind me.transmission was taken care of but hesitation on throttle has been continuous for over a year with no one telling me what was wrong. Just this week i was told throttle body needs replaced.

My 2004 cadillac srx has 98000 miles on it.the service stability system light comes on after driving for 20 minutes, each time i start the car.i clear the system and just drive.the car shakes while driving a bit and does pull to the right.i am not experiencing some of the problems many others are facing with this same warning, but feel i too will soon, it is getting worse.i also was forced to put in 89 octane gas at a station that didnt have super, i had a low fuel light.after 20 minutes of driving stability light came on along with check engine.i cancelled my trip and drove to my mechanic.he stated there was a misfire which may be from lower grade gas but after a fill up of super and a full day of driving check engine light is flashing.bringing it back to get serviced i was told there was no misfire, clogged injectors norfaulty plugs.the problem was with the ecu.these cars sense a problem and "shut off" the problematic fule injector.well mine is not problematic but the computer says it is!!!now what buy a new ecu!!!149.00 for the diagnostic and over 500.00 for the ecu not including labor, i'm looking at a grand to fix the problem, if this is the problem!!! i really love the style and look of this car, but all the extra crap is overkill.there needs to be a recall for the stability system quick, we are going to have a toyota situation on our hands

Loss of acceleration power while driving have to pull over kill and crank again. Cars seems to be slowing down then having to stop and recrank. Does this while driving on hwy. This has happened several times before this date.

I was driving and the vehicle just cut off on me every thing locked up even the brakes i couldn't stop so i chunked the gear in park to avoid from smashing into anyone i was so afraid but it crank right up after but i noticed the temperature gauge and the gas gaugewas no longer working..

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond to acceleration attempts and made a series of popping noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.

Hood hydraulics bar doesn't stay up on front.rear hydraulicshatch door doesn't stay up. Brake line is rotted yet was garaged for most of its life.caddy repair noticed this. Front and rear differentials are bad.they are leaking.brought it in because of the noise to mechanic and too costly to repair. Extended warranty was useless. They didn't cover it although it states they cover differentials if... Loud noise on acceleration. Very costly repairs and dangerous.

The gear shifter was very loose and i was able to shift gears without the car running. Replaced gear shift linkage. ($150)

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that while attempting to shift into park, the gear lever hesitated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The key failed to be released from the ignition after turning off engine , the vehicle can be shifted from park to drive with out depressing brake pedal, with the car running or not , it did have the dealer do the recall service for the shifter. The problem occurred after service .

While accelerating from a completed stop, there was an abnormal grinding noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

Attempting to leave gas station, car began to decelerate and the engine rev'd high. This was an issue with the throttle that cost over $600.00 to repair.now, i am hearing a clicking noise at sudden acceleration, took to cadillac dealer for diagnostic and they told me it was "something" in the transfer case and that they could not replace parts, that i would have to replace the whole thing at a cost of $3000.00!i definitely do not have the money to repair this item.this has really turned me off.i plan to purchase another vehicle and would love to buy american, but with this level of service and lack of care for the customer, i am going to look elsewhere. It seems there are several forums for this problem for the same year with the exact problem.cadillac should provide better service for parts that they know are defective.

Driving on highway doing about 70 car would not accelerate and made loud grinding noise.car was stuck in neutral would not change gears.

My 2004 cadillac srx also has the leaking pinion seal described in the following recall.....it has leaked since i have owned the car but now is grinding.should it not also be covered by gm?2005 cadillac srx power train recall 07v589000nhtsa: action number: n/a service bulletin number: 07v589000?report date:dec 20, 2007?component:power train?potential units affected:275936?manufacturer:general motors corp.summary: on certain passenger vehicles, the rear axle pinion seal does not meet all of the specifications and may experience a fluid leak.consequence: a rear differential failure may cause loss of motive power and possibly loss of control increasing the risk of a crash.

2004 cadillac srx has a problem with one of the following, cv joint, torque converter, or the chain located in the transfer case. All of which cause the vehicle, when accelerated at a stop, on a hill, or traveling (at any speed) up a hill to make a loud popping or clicking noise.i have reviewed this and have a 6 page printout from one site on the same year and make of this vehicle problem with nothing being done, it is a hazard when turning onto a road and needing to accelerate to keep from getting rear ended, i feel for safety this vehicle needs to undergo an investigation and possibly a recall on this defect that the company has clearly overlooked.

I made a free right hand turn into traffic from a stationary position but when i attempted to accelerate there was a loud thunking/ratcheting sound from under my car and it wouldn't move. I was almost rear ended by an angry driver and i was furiously honked at by multiple people. Mechanic informed me that the noise is from a failing transfer case which seems to be a common issue for this particular vehicle based on web research.

While driving 30 mph, the contact heard a loud knocking noise coming from the middle or rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the front driver side door failed to lock. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

During routine acceleration the car accelerator became non-functional, engine went to idle, and engine warning light came on. After manual shut down engine ran normally. Problem was faulty control module on throttle body. Mechanic reported that on-board computer automatically shuts the throttle down when this type problem is sensed to avoid damage to engine. Complaint is that if this condition occurred while pulling out into traffic we could have been seriously endangered. Protection of the well-being of the driver and passengers and other motorists is more important than protection of the engine. This condition should be corrected on this model and prohibited on all models.

Vehicle has been making a loud clicking sound when i'm stopped and take off took to my local mechanic and was diagnosed as the transfer case slipping! i have to small children i drive daily and have read this is a ongoing issue with these vehicles

I was sitting at a stop light, in my car, with my mother in the passenger seat.when the light turned green i applied pressure to the accelerator and the back end of the car made a loud enough thump -i thought the axle broke off.as i continued to drive away from the intersection i looked in the rear view mirror for remains - there were none.my mother commented on the noise, i did not know what to tell her.she also has a cadi srx, 2005.when she returned home she noticed the same noise in her cadi.her husband said it was the "rear differential."since that time their cadi was lost in a flood and they purchased another cadi srx, 2008.this cadi also has the thumping in the rear differential.the thumping continues when accelerating from a stopped position.i have come to the conclusion all the cadillac's have rear differential issues and there needs to be some kind of action against this issue.this needs to be addressed.my next step is to go to the better business bureau.

Transfer case chain started slipping; push gas and vehicle wouldn't go; cost $1000 to repair; 2004 cadillac srx

At about 65-70k miles the rear differential started making noise in my 2004 cadillac srx. I took it to the major cadillac in kansas city, they told me it was normal. The whine turned into a mechanical clucking sound when the car accelerating from a stop. I returned to the same dealership. They told me it was a common software updated that need to be installed (and charged me about $250). When i picked it up, pulling out of the parking lot, the noise was still there. I asked for a refund or for them to actually fix the issue. I was told to return when my service rep was in. The next day the dealer was shut down by gm. I understand some of these details don't directly to the issue (which i will further explain), but seems to be a symptom of how the gm dealers handle issues. Today i took it to one of two remaining gm shops in town. They needed to perform a $200 fluid exchange on the rear differential to determine whether it was the issue. Then called me back, saying there was no 100k mile warranty on the car and the replacement would be about $1300, along with the additional items that "should be done" putting the total to over $2500. On a car that now has just over 70k miles and is not quite five years old. Had i not seen so many other owners with the exact same issues with the model, i would have thought it was a rare occurrence. But given the bevy of individuals with the same thing happening, this would seem to be a glaring design defect. I appreciate there is a place to compile these complaints. Maybe action can be taken to remedy this issue.thank you

Key stuck in ignition, able to shift out of park with out applying the brake first. With engine off can shift from park. The car was service thru a recall for this problem in february 2010.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 20 mph and attempting to make a right hand turn into a parking lot, the steering column completely locked.after attempting to manually turn the steering wheel for twenty minutes the vehicle resumed normal operations on its own.the vehicle was taken to the service dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. The problem continued to occur intermittently while turning to the left or right.the vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined the power steering hoses were reversed when the vehicle was originally manufactured. The hoses were switched, but this did not remedy the problem.the steering column continued to lock intermittently.in addition to the ongoing steering column problem the vehicle had several other problems as well.the vehicle's engine suddenly stalled without any prior warning while traveling 70 mph.the vehicle was maneuvered safely to the side of the road and was easily restarted after a 30 minute period.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer where it was determined the throttle control had caused the gas supply to shut off to the engine.the throttle was replaced and this remedied the problem.later, the transmission made a noise and the rear end felt loose while traveling 60 mph.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined there were loose nuts on the wheel.all lug nuts were tightened on all four wheels.the tightening of the nuts appeared to remedy both the transmission noise and the loose feeling in the rear of the vehicle.the contact traded the vehicle due to the dealers inability to remedy the ongoing steering problem. Updated 3/9/2006 -

While driving 30 mph transmission failed without warning. As a result, vehicle lostpower.

1.i was getting on highway to go to dr. Appt stepped on gas peddle and heard loud plastic banging coming from rear of car. Pulled over thought maybe picked up something. Looked around & under car saw nothing. Got in, started to proceed again, bang bang bang again. Ok figured that if u step on gas peddle barely bang would stop. Got to the dr. Go to leave again bang. 2. It occurs every time u step on throttle more than a little bit. Brought to my mech that i have been dealing with for 22 years. Told me it was rear transfer case. Told me it sounds like someone wants to come out of it with a hammer.3. Had to replace rear transfer case. Cost $2000. Mech. Told me i am going to get sick when u see it. I got down there with camera. Main shaft has metal to metal contact that wore down with metal shavings under caused wobble in shaft. Also every link in chain had little bit of play in it so it would jump sprocket and hit plastic plate. That's where plastic bang was coming from. I don't have part because mech had to send back for core but i do have plenty of pictures to show of how much play was in chain, metal shavings under shaft, marks on shaft hole nine yards.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx.while driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise outside the vehicle.the wheels locked up and failed to operate.the driver felt that this was a life-threatening situation because the vehicle just stopped without any warning.roadside assistance was called to the scene and the vehicle was towed to her residence.an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the front end differential failed.the vehicle is in the process of being towed to an authorized dealer for repair.the failure and current mileages were 80,000.

I found out i have rusty brake lines. My brakes failed on me while driving. I pulled into the closest parking lot and saw the fluid pouring from under my car.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated while traveling 5 mph, the electronic stability control warning light illuminated as the brakes erroneously engaged. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road to restart the vehicle. Upon restarting the vehicle, it began to function normally however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's destination. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic or dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about this issue. The failure and current mileages were 39,011.

My brakes failed as i was driving the car, i had just made a u turn and was parking in a parking space on a city street when the brakes failed. The pedal went to the floor and did not stop the car. Although, i pumped the brakes nothing happened. Praise the lord jesus i was going very slow as there was septa bus behind me and car in front of me.

My wife was driving her 2004 srx with only 70000 miles.she was traveling at 65 mph when the brakes suddenly started activating and the car swerved to the side almost causing an accident.the error message displayed was service stability on the console.after she told what had happened , i went on the internet and found that too many owners of 2004 srx experienced the same problem.the dealer ended up replacing the sensor on the steering column.from reading and experiencing this problem i wonder how long will it be before someone gets seriously hurt.i think this problem justifies looking into because it is occurring too many 2004 srx (edmunds.com has a lot of complaints).

In march2013 i almost had an accident because my brakes would not stop the vehicle, i swerved over to the side and hit the curb a bit. I bought the car in feb 2012. It always had the system balance light to come on so i decided to take it to see what was wrong with it. I took it to general motors in omha nebraksa 114th dodge street. They test drove it and said they did not find anything wrong with it except that i needed new rotors and brakes. I told them about this recall and how my brake problem falls into this and they said they looked up myvin number and that it was already fixed. I said well this needs to be done over because this could potentially could cause an accident. They explained that my brakes needed to be fixed. I disagreehere is the recall infor which certainly is what is happening to my car. The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the front and rear brakes made an abnormal noise. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who replaced the bearings, cvc joints, a rotor on the front driver's side, and two rotors in the rear. Months later, the abnormal noise returned. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic who was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The contact was unable to determine if the vehicle was included or excluded from nhtsa campaign number:04v151000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact was to check with the manufacturer. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

My cadillac srx (purchased 4/2/2004, mileage 34,599) suffered a complete hydraulic brake failure. This occurred in a parking lot, at low speed and there were no injuries or damage. The car was towed to the dealer who repaired the brakes under warranty. The dealer stated that both hydraulic circuits had failed and the only braking was theparking brake. The dealer also stated that this was the first time he had seen this type of failure on this type of vehicle.

The brake booster supply hose degrades and falls off resulting in no power assist. This can happen with no prior warning and result in property damage and or bodily injury or death. This vehicle is a 2004 cadillac srx with a engine code 'a' but other models may be affected.

Consumer's vehicle was traveling at 35 mph, when coming to a stop light, vehicle accelerated andstruck the rear of anothervehicle...... The consumer attepted to apply the brakes, but the vehicle did not stop.

I don't even have to touch my brakes for the computer to take over the car and cause it to go off balance and cause swerving service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/modulerecall number: 04v151000recall date: 03/29/2004problem summary:on certain passenger vehicles equipped with all wheel drive, the antilock brake system (abs) may improperly temporarily isolate the driver from the foundation brake system for a maximum of 1.25 seconds.consequence:this can cause in an increase in braking distance, which could result in a crash.corrective action:dealers will reprogram the abs traction control system controller. The consumer felt that the brake and gas pedal was designed too close together. The consumer foot gets stuck underneath the brake pedal..brake pedal is curved to the right-bringing it too close for people with wide shoes like me. Also, firewall on right is very close to gas pedal so you cannot move your foot to the right to get more clearance. I feel this could cause a few seconds delay in reaching brake pedal in emergency, which could result un fatal accident.

Brake pedal is angled towards and too close to the accelerator pedal.at least twelve timesconsumer stepped onaccelerator pedal while braking.*mr

Power steering engages on its own and causes problems when i am turning into traffic. There is a problem with the power steering pump that is causing it to turn only when in motion and it is still hard to turn.

Vehicle stability system engaged spontaneously causing the vehicle to "hydroplane"...steering inoperable and braking slow at best. Dash light would read " stability system engaged". Event would last a few seconds. Taken to cadillac dealer. Problem diagnosed as faulty steering wheel sensor.

2004 srx stability sys ready comes onand the steering pulls left or right abs light , brake light , comes onno one seems to know what it is or what to dohelp

System stability issues and it jerks my left rear out of wack when driving my 2004 srx cadillac i have small infants and i bought this car from dealership a few months ago and i beleive it is a gm recall according to other sites. I don't know what to do it scares me that i'm gonna lose control every time i drive it because its getting worse and i spent all the money i had saved so my wife could have her cadillac.

I own a 2004 cadillac srx with only 75,000 miles on it and the steering gear (rack-in-pinion) has to be replaced now for the 2nd time. The first time it had to be replaced was after the car just went out of warranty with only 57,000 miles on it and cadillac would not repair it under warranty, only 7,000 miles out of warranty?? how often do you have to replace the steering gear on a bwm, volvo, lexus, infinity or even yet a yugo at only 57000 miles? the car has been perfectly maintained, serviced and kept in excellent condition. It was replaced with a brand new steering gear from classic cadillac. Now only 18 months later and 17000 miles the steering gear has gone bad again. This is a very expensive repair and cadillac/gm is telling me that the part only comes with only a 12 month, 12000 mile warranty??? this is obviously a defective in the design of your product. I called the 800-458-80006 customer help line and have little confidence that cadillac will help me with this problem. My car is now going to be tied up in the shop for several days and is going to be a huge inconveniences and expense to myself and family. Please let me know who i can speak with at cadillac/gm to talk with about this obvious defect in your product.

Cadillac srx 2004, the stabilizer keeps engaging and when it engages, it jerks the car, it makes the car swerve. It engages without notice and if you are not paying attention when it engages, youlose control of the car.

This vehicle needs a recall immediately as the issue can result in an accident or death to the driver/ passengers/ other drivers on the road. While driving this vehicle at any speed on both the highway and city streets, it abruptly shifts into another lane while driving straight and does not allow you to press on the brakes or move the steering wheel for a few seconds to gain control of the vehicle. A "service stability system" warning pops up on the screen directly afterwards and a loud warning sound constantly rings through the car until you stop the vehicle and turn it off for a few minutes. Driving the car again repeats the same problem. Research of the issue shows that many owners of this vehicle have the same issue and upon inspection at the mechanic, most are not given a solution. Some blogs say replacing the "steering wheel sensor" has solved their problem however i have replaced the sensor along with the entire steering power steering rack, brakes, tires, and several other parts and in a year i am still having the same problem every single time i drive. This is dangerous and the company needs to recall and investigate the issue before someone is seriously hurt.

Vehicle was parking when all of a sudden the front right wheel would not turn, which resulted loss of steering.

Stability control system randomly engages.the car then sometimes vibrates or shutters (brake engaging?) and on two occasions the car tugged to the left.a service stability control message also randomly appears.a cadillac dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty steering sensor.the repair is not covered by gm and a price of $405 was quoted to fix the problem.because a safety system malfunctions and affects control of the vehicle, a safety recall should be implemented.

Vehicle stability system began to engage spontaneously causing vehicle to temporarily engage abs, and veering off course.vehicle stability system service light appeared.problem worsened over aa 1 month period.took to cadillac dealership where problem was diagnosed as a faulty steering wheel position sensor.

I have a 2004 cadillac srx v8 with a stability system error recurring.this happens at least one time every time i drive the car.when the stability system error comes on the car skids a bit, sometimes pulling left or right, or if it comes on when i am breaking, its grinds with the braking and seems to skip a bit.the cadillac dealer says they haven't seen this problems but i have read a least 100 reviews on different websites from customers experiencing the same problems.some of them have even been jerked off of the road when the warning comes on.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx.while driving at any speed, the vehicle suddenly pulls to the left or the right.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the failure has occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased.the current mileage was 135,000 and failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. While the brake pedal was depressed, the contact heard an abnormal noise in the suspension. There is water getting into the car. In the rear, back.. The compartment that holds the tire jack is building up water.

Frame failure. Rear sub frame was not welded on properly resulting in the car losing all directional control and going off the road. Could have been bad if speed was not so low. Cadillac has not been able to fix car due to not having part for last 7 months. It is a recall on the 05 but not the 04. Gm refuses to do anything other than tell me they will let me know when they have news. They have even requested to store the vehicle at my residence rather than the dealership as it has been there so long. I am so tired of this 7 month headache. Please look into expanding the recall on the 05 to include the 04. It is the identical issue and it can be extremely dangerous. It is just discussing how they can forget to actually wield part of the frame. There is no excuse for that! especially when they refuse to actually make it right. They will not even get me a rental car. I had to get a new car because the srx is not even able to be sold. I'm just out of 15k?. Please look into this. I have ample photos and documentation and recorded phone calls from gm. I truly don't want to see someone get killed as can easily happen. This is just horrible negligence on gm's behalf. I also thought they had to continue making parts for 10 years by law? they just recently stopped making this style. They still have 8 years left by law to make the parts.

Went through the car wash. During final stage (wind to blow off moisture) windshield header flew off car. After inspection it was revealed that the only method of attachment to the vehicle was double sided tape. This is unacceptable especially given the location of the piece where there is a lot of wind (front of roof).

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the traction control system and check engine warning indicators were illuminated all the time. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

The hood does not stay up on it's own. I have to use a stick to prop it open.

Since oct. 2014 i have had issues with the"stability system" to be serviced yet it works??? the hood hasn't ever stayed up which had been a pain being starting a couple months ago the battery starting having issues in the cold weather. Something is draining it and i don't know from where.

So many rusted frame complaints should have warranted a recall. In my case a frame should not have rusted badly in less than a year . Many even show on you -tube trying to fix rustedframes because no one is listening. Underbody coating actually should have been added . Thin sheet metal sections are the worst parts .

I have been hearing a rattle(front end) for 2 years while driving the vehicle and inspected by jacking up car and visually inspecting.when i was driving the car on the highway the steering wheel will jerk to the right and want to go to another lane and the stability control light will come on.i found a inch and a half gap in frame that is rusted and was never welded.the gap is under the drivers side frame rail under car.it appears to have been there for a long time due to metal fatigue and rust.i took pictures of the area .the frame could breakdue to this and makes the vehicle a safety hazard.i do feel safe to drive this car and the idea of other vehicles with this defect as i have searched online and founds others with the same complaint.i also do not feel safe selling this car as it is a danger on the road.please me contact me by email.thank you

Noise in rear of auto, result was wheel bearing in rear wheel was found to be badnational back order of part, waiting for car to be repaired.. Car has only 34k miles.

Even the slightest bump in the road sends the vehicle swerving. The whole car rattles. When trying to accelerate it hesitates before going, same with decelerating. Even when in residential areas and flat surfaces.

My rear subframe came un-welded. Car lost ability to control direction due to rear wheel pointing in different directions. There is a recall for this exact problem on the 2005 model but not yet for the 2004 model.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. While the contact was driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle unexpectedly spun out of control onto the side of the road into the grass. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician stated that the vehicle exhibited a partial detachment of the subframe caused by defective or missing frame welds. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 06v125000 (suspension: rear) for the 2005 cadillac srx model. The contact is concerned that the recall does not include his year, make and model vehicle. He experienced the identical failures as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 111,345.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that a tire blew out causing the vehicle to spin out of control and crash. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and one injury was reported that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Dt: the contact stated tire pressure monitoring sensors were defective.the manufacturers recommended tire pressure be 32 psi . However, within 24 hours the sensors suggested the pressuredropped in all four tires.this causedthe warning lights to illuminate, signaling low tire pressure.the sensors provided a false reading which alerted the contactthat air should be added to the tires.this caused improper pressure to be added, resulting in over inflation.he took the vehicle to the dealer three times for this problem.each time the dealer calibrated the sensors. This procedure temporarily remedies the problem.

My traction control/stability system will engage while i am driving down the road unless i manually disable it.this could very easily cause an accident because the car will be jerked and pulled either to the left or right.it began in january of 2009 and continues to do this even after trying many things to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. The contact stated that the traction control and the reduced engine power warning lights illuminated, causing the vehicle to become resistant to acceleration attempts over 5 mph. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle would resume normal function once the engine was shut off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 150,000.

Driving to norman oklahoma from flower mound tx. In 2004 cadillac srx.stability system light comes on multiple times.about an hour into trip service stability system message comes on.got out book said to get to dealer immediately.call dealer and he said not to worry but after reading other customer complaints. I am afraid to drive and a couple of times, it felt like wheels were locking up and that i could have had a serious accident.looks like nhtsa should look in to this problem and there should be a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed.the light has been going on periodically for the past month but just in town driving.i was very concerned yesterday as at times it felt that i didn't have control of what the vehicle was doing.i will be reporting to gm on monday and taking my car to dealer but it sounds as though the dealership are unsure of problem and they should not be telling customers not to worry.

The problem with my 2004 cadillac srx started after the dealer completed a recall service for the transmission shift from park problem now the vehicle can be shifted from park with key in or out of the ignition, running or not and when vehicle is turned off the key does not release from ignition, now traction control light comes on dealer does not know what is the problem. Also stability control message comes on . I have read that two people have died in accidents already from stability control systems malfunctioning in the 2004 cadillac srx.

Stability control systems kicks in while driving straight. Took vehicle to dealer about a year and half ago and they replaced a sensor. Problem has started again. Have taken it to dealer and they say they have not been able to recreate problem.

When making a turn, going over a speed bump or taking a sharp turn the traction engagement system warning light comes on. At times the vehicle will stop accelerating.

2004 cadillac srx v8 awd - traction control warning light comes on after about 20 minutes of driving, display panel says to service stability system.this occurs in dry weather, under no adverse conditions.sensor has already been replaced.

I own a 2004 cadillac srx awd v8, i have had many stability controlissues, it has been into the dealer 5 times. They have replaced three wheel bearings and still the problem continues. The car will pull left sometimes, the abs will engage sometimes. The system doesn't store problem.

Since oct. 2014 i have had issues with the"stability system" to be serviced yet it works??? the hood hasn't ever stayed up which had been a pain being starting a couple months ago the battery starting having issues in the cold weather. Something is draining it and i don't know from where.

It shows up on the dashboard and the driving change and the will be a clinking noise from the rear of the truck. It makes it dangerous to drive

This car has a panoramic sun roof. The entire roof of the car is glass. As i was driving on the highway the entire sunroof (the glass panels, the tracks, the sunroof motors, the rack) completely flew off and the entire assembly almost hit another car behind it. . i guess the wind got under it and ripped the sunroof from the car. The sunroof was closed. Upon further inspection i come to find out that the panoramic roof is installed and secured with only glue. There are no bolts that secure the roof to the car. The glue must've been getting old and allowed the wind to tear the rest of it apart.

Power steering engages on its own and causes problems when i am turning into traffic. There is a problem with the power steering pump that is causing it to turn only when in motion and it is still hard to turn.

I was driving it got to stop sign went to accelerate and it wouldn't go i then turned it off waited a few minutes started it up and off we went it drove fine for about 5 miles then it started like jerking so i got it home safely next day driving it on the highway it would not accelerate got it off the highway safely i shut it off waited 10 minutes started it up and it accelerated fine for about 20 minutes then i just wanted to get it back home normally it is a half hour ride it took about an hour and a half to get it back home so i waited till next day went out started it up we pulled out fine got to stop sign went to accelerate to pull out and the only thing it did was rev the rpm up i turned it off waited a few minutes started it back up and then it accelerated to pull out the car only has 132,056 miles on it , it is a safety hazard , i am now afraid to drive it anywhere, i believe this should be enough to be on the list as a recall i read on forums alot of other people are having the same issue.

Service theft system came on one day and it wont give me the key back i have to take it out manualy also wont read miles, temperature, fuel and sometimes while on the road it will die completely, it reads service theft system and service stability

To be honest i think someone already probably submitted my license plate that's how unsafe it is if you need pics and etc i was told this could be related to the steering.the consumer stated the vehicle made a popping cracking noise. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the noise.

Even the slightest bump in the road sends the vehicle swerving. The whole car rattles. When trying to accelerate it hesitates before going, same with decelerating. Even when in residential areas and flat surfaces.

I was driving at approximately 45 mph on m-119 in petoskey michigan. I heard a loud, sharp bang, similar to hearing a rifle being fired without ear defenders. Immediately, i pulled to the shoulder to inspect the vehicle and assess damage. The panoramic roof had shattered. There was no sign of impact from external sources. The interior shade was closed. Had it been open the glass from the sunshine roof would have fallen into the passenger compartment. This was an unprovoked failure of a key body component.,.
