I received a recall notice in the mail.
The contact owns a 2001 cadillac seville. The contact stated that while sitting in the front driver side seat with the vehicle off and key out of the ignition, the side air bag deployed without an impact. There was a loud boom and a gray substance emitted from the air bags. The following morning, the seat belt anchor fractured. The driver sustained a loss of hearing in the left ear, 3 neck fractures, abrasions on the arms and legs that required medical attention. A medical incident report was filed. The dealer roberts auto mall (19 park ln, downingtown, pa 19335, (610) 269-8200) was made aware of the failure but stated that the failure experienced could not have happened. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Cadillac seville with side airbags, struck in driver's door; airbag did not deploy; gm report (gm claim #06342660) is based on the way the seville was struck, side airbags were not designed to deploy.question is "what's the purpose of side airbags if they don't deploy in a side impact collision?"
I traded my 97 lincoln town car fora 01 cadillac seville with the north star motor,upon leaving the car lot,i noticed the stereo was real static when i hitthe slightest bump in the road..i then turned around and took it right back..it was the bose amp..(found out 3 weeks later)(dealer paid for repair,)the very next day ..i heard a clicking while turning right,,took back to the dealer ..it wouldn't do it then,,i was told to put power steering fluid in it..drove itto ky that weekend(i live in ga) noticed a humming noise in the left front wheel,,had to replace the wheel hub,,,then noticed power steering fluid kept going down,,had to replace the hydraulic hose,, a couple of times i would turn the key and it wouldn't start,,no lights no nothing..turn the key to off position,,wait try again ,,still no start,,tried a third time started no problem,,,is there a glitch with the ignition switch???now im hearing the clickingagain when i turn right...is this going to cost me more money,,,i always thought cadillac was the best money could buy ,,because of the fact they use top of the line parts ( therefore expensive cars) so you wonthave to worry,about breaking down and having to keep putting money in them.. Cadillac should back their products with the pride they expect us consumers to have while driving them.....i should have kept my lincoln.
Takes several turns of the ignition to start. Slow leak due to rim pressure on tires.
1.no warning before failure.engine crank sensors fail without warning. 2.engine stops, car decelerates,no ps, hard to control, near accident from lack of control or being hit from behind.3. Cadillac northstar 2000-2001 seville crank sensor (2 per engine) replaced repeatedly.
Fuel/ign starting problems ________________________________________i have a 2001 cadillac seville sls that has been having intermittent starting problems. Presently the vehicle will not build-up fuel pressure in order to start to 41-47 psi unless i remove the rear fuse/relay box ign 1 micro relay. With this relay removed, i can hear the fuel pump build-up the required psi and then i confirm the build-up of that psi by looking at my test fuel psi gauge under the hood, the car then starts no problem, and runs no problem with relay not installed. Whenever i re-install this micro relay the fuel sys will not build-up the required psi, it just stays at 0 psi, and of course it will not start. I just replaced the fuel pump sending unit assy plus fuel filter today. The other day i was driving on highway 25 southbound and doing 75 mph and the engine just died, quit running and would not re-start. I had my vehicle towed home, the next day i went to troubleshoot my cadillac and the vehicle started right up with the ign 1 relay removed. As i mentioned earlier i already replaced the fuel pump assy thinking it would fix problem and it did not! today while driving 55 mph the engine suddenly quit running again and i heard a noise from the front end and the car shook also. I had to find some shoulder room, pulled over, removed ign1 relay again and the car re-started no problem and i continued on driving to work.
The consumer's vehicle traction control system keeps showing a defect when the light comes on.the consumer took vehicle to dealer 4 times, and they couldn't find anything. According to owner's manual it has to do with the brake system. ...the traction control light continues to come on, and dealer was unable to repair or determine the cause. This creates a potential hazard to consumer and others if the light signals a problem. *sbthis problem have been going on since october 17, 2004 to the present. *sb

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. I traded my 97 lincoln town car fora 01 cadillac seville with the north star motor,upon leaving the car lot,i noticed the stereo was real static when i hitthe slightest bump in the road..i then turned around and took it right back..it was the bose amp..(found out 3 weeks later)(dealer paid for repair,)the very next day ..i heard a clicking while turning right,,took back to the dealer ..it wouldn't do it then,,i was told to put power steering fluid in it..drove itto ky that weekend(i live in ga) noticed a humming noise in the left front wheel,,had to replace the wheel hub,,,then noticed power steering fluid kept going down,,had to replace the hydraulic hose,, a couple of times i would turn the key and it wouldn't start,,no lights no nothing..turn the key to off position,,wait try again ,,still no start,,tried a third time started no problem,,,is there a glitch with the ignition switch???now im hearing the clickingagain when i turn right...is this going to cost me more money,,,i always thought cadillac was the best money could buy ,,because of the fact they use top of the line parts ( therefore expensive cars) so you wonthave to worry,about breaking down and having to keep putting money in them.. Car starts with several turning of the key. It can take up to 2+ minutes. I have no convidence in my car anymore. It such a frustrating experience.
When driving 65 mph vehicle stalled.the consumer was able to restart the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and the mechanic inspected the vehicle to see if the problem could be duplicated.the dealer changed the crankshaft position sensor.
We purchased the car from tutwiller cadillac in indianapolis, indiana in 2001.it is at 46,000 miles now and is thankfully still under warranty.we have had problems ranging from computer to power steering.last week my service engine soon light came on.i took it to the dealership.they said it was the transmission and the tcc solenoid.they also said the turbine shaft seals were leaking. They received my car on oct. 27th and returned it to me on oct. 29th. No sooner than 20 minutes down the road my service light came back on! i drove it back to the dealership.this time they said it was the air injection pump and replaced it.i received it back on oct. 30th.yesterday, nov. 6th i was driving home from work and the accelerator stuck and sounded like it was grinding in the front.it came unstuck after approx. 10 seconds or so.i immediately called the dealership again.this time the service stability system came on.(it was on last week too, but they said they couldn't find anything and that the light went off.) i asked that a wrecker take my car this time, because i was uncomfortable driving it. As of today i have heard nothing from them.my husband and i are very frustrated with this dealership and cadillac.i am sure tutwiller has computer records of how many times they have serviced this car!

Dt:the caller said a nut came off the front lower ball joint. The caller's wife was backing out of a driveway and she heard a clung and when she looked the wheel was tilted out on the bottom. Vehicle was towed to dealer who fixed it. Manufacturer canceled the $50.00 deductible. Ses light illuminated on the dash.the dealer replaced the crankshaft position sensor.

The contact owns a 2001 cadillac seville.the contact stated that the vehicle leaked engine oil on the exhaust crossover pipe extensively from the crank cradle to the block.the vehicle was diagnosed by a mechanic and the dealer.the contact stated that there was a remedy, which was to pull the motor and replace it with a remam motor.the vehicle has not been repaired.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 131,000 and failure mileage was approximately 109,000.updated 01-29-08.updated 01/29/08
The air conditioning on this car is inferior to any car that i have owned before.it is not capable of cooling the interior of the car when the exterior temperature exceeds 90 degrees.i have taken it to the dealer numerous times with this complaint.they always say that they can not find any problems.*nlm
We purchased the car from tutwiller cadillac in indianapolis, indiana in 2001.it is at 46,000 miles now and is thankfully still under warranty.we have had problems ranging from computer to power steering.last week my service engine soon light came on.i took it to the dealership.they said it was the transmission and the tcc solenoid.they also said the turbine shaft seals were leaking. They received my car on oct. 27th and returned it to me on oct. 29th. No sooner than 20 minutes down the road my service light came back on! i drove it back to the dealership.this time they said it was the air injection pump and replaced it.i received it back on oct. 30th.yesterday, nov. 6th i was driving home from work and the accelerator stuck and sounded like it was grinding in the front.it came unstuck after approx. 10 seconds or so.i immediately called the dealership again.this time the service stability system came on.(it was on last week too, but they said they couldn't find anything and that the light went off.) i asked that a wrecker take my car this time, because i was uncomfortable driving it. As of today i have heard nothing from them.my husband and i are very frustrated with this dealership and cadillac.i am sure tutwiller has computer records of how many times they have serviced this car!

Transmission failure on 2001 cadillac sls:there was no warning that the transmission needed servicing or was experiencing any problems.the transaxle fluid level indicated it was at 100% at time of incident. Vehicle was at stop light, light turned green and the vehicle would not move made loud roaring noise.diagnosis at cadillac dealer transmission failure at 68,000 miles.vehicle is now at cadillac dealer for costly repair.called gm regarding issue; indicated there is no recall so nothing can be done.dealer does not acknowledge complaint.
While the vehicle was in park on an incline in the consumer's driveway, the consumer attempted to exit the vehicle when the vehicle popped out of park and knocked the consumer down and rolled over the consumer's ankles.the consumer was not hospitalized, but did suffer bruising and swelling of his ankles.*scc

When traveling 30 mph on highway, all four goodyear tires shake.there is a bad vibration. 4 new controlled tires were installed that experienced the same vibration as the previous tires, so the dealer changed the tire brand to michelin and replaced the rotors due to pulsation, consumer states they have replaced a total of 21 tires and the problem still exists, possible suspension problem.hood was misaligned on the drivers side, dealer made adjustments.weatherstrip was not sealing and caused trunk to leak.ses light illuminated, dealer could not find problem.

Power steering fails at low rpm. Very difficult to park, turn quickly, navigate parking lot, driveway,etc.

While driving attempted to make a right hand turn and consumer noticednoise coming fromsteering wheel. Also, notice that somthing was rubbing against steering mechanism.consumer had contacted dealer, , and hereplaced parts.but,problem still occurs. Please provide any futher defect the gmc case # c03702692.the manufacturer acknowledges that many consumers had called about the same problem but had no solution yet.
While making a right turn consumer noticed a loud popping noise, and then lost total steering control.vehicle continued on, and hit a curb before stopping.dealer and the manufacturer werenotified. The cause of the steering lock up was not determined.
The power steering becomes inoperable at low speeds, causing significant risks in proper maneuvering. The safety of pedestrians is of particular concern, as one incident recently demonstrated, when i could not turn the wheel fast enough. I had to jerk the car to a stop, nearly scaring the life out of a middle aged woman. The car is virtually impossible to parallel park.
The steeringin the vehicle became more difficult with unusual noises.as the power assist started to fail.the steering started to make loud popping noises when turning right or left. The mechanic replaced most of the under carriage steering assembly and greased the steering shaft connected to the steering wheel. *sc

The body seams in our 2001 cadillac seville are separating allowing water to come in the vehicle and compromising the structural integrity of the vehicle , the vehicle is still in warranty (barely) so they will fix it when they get around to it then they will give us a vehicle back that does not meet thier own requirements for an extended warranty. These vehicles (this apparently is not an uncommon problem) are not safe and should be removed from the road.

Front plastic bumper cracked and needs to be replaced after a 1 mph impact in a parking space.the front surface has no damage but the top is badly cracked with pieces falling out.either the plastic material is defective (too brittle) or the design is defective.it should withstand a 5 mph hit.

I bought a cadillac seville from a used car dealer, it vibrate when i drive it. The whole car vibrates while driving it on a smooth road. The car dealer replace the tires, tie-rode, lower ball joints, and steering arm or something to that effect and done an alignment on all the wheels. It still is vibrating to this day. They say they can 't duplicate the vibration, and don't want to ride with me to show me what they are considering normal and i can show them what i am feel as abnormal. They even took it to at thecadillac dealer and they done some expensive machine balancing on the tires and it still does it. One mechanic said that i will have to wait until it gets worse to find out what it is or to get it fixed. That does not sound good to me at all. I don't know if there has been any injures or death related to this problem, however i don't want to the first.
The vehicle vibrated at speeds of 55 mph and faster. The dealership was unable to solve the problem although, they replaced several components, such as tires/rotors.the car has a brace from one side to the other. The vibration is still there and the consumer wants cadillac tofix it.
Car vibrates considerably at highway speeds. This problem is of epidemic porportions. I fear that one of the suspension components will come apart on the freeway injuring multiple people in vicinity. Dealership cannot diagnose or fix.

Under warrant at 1600 miles they placed all 4 new tires.they used 13 tires to find 4 good tires.then, i still have the problem.car in service for two weeks, they oredered 4 perfect tires from detroit, they are waiting for the tires.(tiresize: 17)

I purchased new 2001 cadillac seville on december 22, 2000.my car riddled with problems.in february 2001, dealer changed 13 tires to match 4 tires.then in august andf october 2001 they ordered 4 new controlled tires, perfect tires from detroit factory.vibration continued.then, in nov 2001 i contacted gm executive office in detroit, also area service manager.this time dealer changed 4 rotors, and installed 4 new high grade michelin tire.car still vibrates, sometimes you feel that front end will collapse.cadillac has no idea where it is coming from, rims, suspensions, brakes, frame.meantime car still vibrates badly.
