On 05/2014 i came to a stop sign then i move on to get across the street when my cadillac shut down all electrical controls the engine came to a complete stop as my car lays dead in the middle of the street a vehicle going west hit my right front end so hard it twisted hood, front doors, fenders and engine parts fifteen minutes before i dropped my daughter at school she could have die in this incident due to failure of airbags they never deployed three months later i receive a recall # 14299 i call several people including [xxx]ceo, they all lie to me by telling me that there is nothing wrong with my cadillac when they haven't done anything to the car i also own a cobalt 2007 recalled on 04/2014 i am still waiting for both cars to be fixed like the law requires as for my 2000 cadillac seville sits in my garage with $10,000.00 worth of repair cost general motors refuse a half of dozen times to take responsibility for the failure of the cadillac electronic systems, airbags, brakes, power steering and all the items that could have end as a fatality to a member of my family including myself.12/24/2014.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Starting out from a dead stop, struck a very small traffic island while driving approximately 5 -10 mph. Without front end impact,dual airbags deployed. Dealer took vehicle the next day to inspect it, and statedthat original claim will cover damages. About 3 weeks later, an outside company claimed a scrape was found on the frame, andwarranty would not cover damages.
Abnormal engine vibrations since day of purchase, according to dealer, they are waiting for a "software fix" for the vehicle. Vehicle experienced condensation on the front and rear lights. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer,they changed the bulbs. However, the reason for the condensation build up was not resolved.two inches of water accumulated in the rear lights shorting out the electrical system.front bulbs go out when it rains or when the vehicle sits out of the garage.*tc
The vehicle stalled without warning.the dealer had not determined the cause.the vehicle stalled a few times before but would restart.the last occasion the vehicle did not restart.per invoice, the voltage at the relay had no ground and was found loose.the part was removed, cleaned, tightened, and the vehicle was able to start. *scc *nlm
On two separate occasions my old 2000 gm cadillac sts stalled while driving on the highway.this was not a mechanical problem - it was some sort of defect.note that it was "repaired" in between the incidents, do it was not the same initial problem.i filed a complaint back then, but got no response.the mechanics at the palo alto cadillac dealer seemed to know of the problem.at the time, they said it was a failure of some sensors on the flywheel.i don't know if this was related to the current ignition switch problem.having a vehicle stall at 65 mile per hour is absolutely terrifying.you lose power steering and brakes.it would have certainly ended up in an accident if i didn't understand how cars work.i was able to shift into neutral and restart the car.my point is, there was a defect on this car that appeared to be known by gm, and was also ignored.the complaint was ignored by the nhtsa.i think you should also inquire with gm what was known about this defect.as i wrote - they seemed to have known that this was a problem, and just repaired it, rather than understand the risk they were making us take.i ended up selling the car because of this issue.

The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the head gasket and motor mounts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Car was overheating kept saying check cooling level i would check and had to add coolant. Took to mechanic found my radiator cap was warped. I replaced cap but yet the car continues to heat up. Major oil leaks from engine, similar to other complaint 2-3 qts between oil changes. Current mileage on vehicle 120,000 miles.
The vehicle stalled intermittently while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer found that the crank shaft sensor needed to replaced. This also occured in 2002 at the same time the sensors were replaced.
Consumer is concerned that every 1000 miles he has to add 1/1/2 quarts of oil tovehicle. Dealership is aware of problem..there are no leaks underneathvehicle for oil at this time.but, there is a issue that needs to be reolved.

Onsumer states the engine light is on. Dealer found pcm out of calibration, consumer also stats that the vehicle pulls to the left while driving, and there is a vibration when driving above 65 mph, the dealer performed an alignment but the problem still exists.

While going 45 approaching a red light i casually hit the brakes. The car did not stop. Hitting the brakes to the floor for a 2nd time, the car did not stop. Thus, after running the red light in a near death experience and driving without brakes until i could find a parking lot to pull over in, got the problem checked out and was told the brake line rusted out. Vehicle was in motion going approximately 45, car did not stop due to rusted brake line (snapped brake line)

Whiile traveling vehicle was smoking. Dealer stated brake caliper locked up. The dealer replaced left front brake hose and left caliper.

-while pulling out into traffic from his driveway on 12-14-06 contact noticed that the steering on the vehicle felt unusual.the contact continued to drive.on 12-16-06, the contact looked under the vehicle to notice that the tie rod and the rack and pinion steering had broken.the contact currently has his vehicle at the dealership and they are telling him that there isn't a recall for his tie rod assembly.the contact states that he went on the nhtsa website and that there is a recall for the tie rod assembly (nhtsa campaign id number : 99v301000).the contact would like to know what he can do to have his vehicle covered under the recall.if any copy of the invoice is neededcontact can provide a copy
Steering is very difficult when trying to get in and out of tight spots. It feels almost as ifi loose my steering all together. The car dealer said they replaced the steering rack just last month, but there is no difference.

At any rate of speed vehicle will drift to the right immediately which could cause loss of vehicle control. Consumer has taken vehicleto dealer 4 times, and dealer has aligned vehicle, but defect still occurred. Dealerclaimed that this wasa normal characteristic of vehicle. The vehicle gets this very hard vibrations whenreaching highway speed of 60-70 mph. There is a boucing as if the tires are out of balance. Tires have been replaced five times. The first three times, that dealer replaced the tireshe claimedthat it was a design problem. The vehicle has been to the dealer a total of eight or nine times in the first month of buying the vehicle .
All 4 goodyear eagle tires were replaced soon after the purchase of vehicle due to vibration, after replacement tires put on, right rear goodyear eagle tire experienced tread separation, tire size p235/60r16.
On 04/15/2005 car was taken in to dealership for leaking trunk and water in trunk. Gm had issued a service bulletin 03-08-66-009, dated july 30, 2003 for models 1998-2003 cadillac seville to replace the trunk seal with part # 25762219 weatherst 12.269 k.the work was completed per the bulletin, but on 02/11/2011 car was taken in again for water in trunk, with 35330 miles. If the improved part from sb 03-08-66-009 was used and installed by the selling dealership, how do you explain the leak reoccurring within a similar time frame as the original failure? i realize most people do not keep their vehicles more than 10 years, but current owners of used models would also be impacted and unknowingly pay for the additional repairs.it does not appear that gm actually corrected a known defect they had in this model cadillac with their improved part.
