Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) and stated that the remedy and the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. I have a recall notice but the dealer states that gm says there's nothing wrong with the airbags and refused to replace them! i've written to gm and received a phone call from someone from "customer service" who told me that cadillac says there's nothing wrong with my air bags. In the meantime my car has a recall which has reflected in such a low trade in value that i can't even sell my car. Now the light is on that says to "service air bags" and cadillac wants to charge me over $1300 to "service" the air bags they won't replace. Since we live in florida, where it's hot and humid, the conditions make it even more likely that the propellant can degrade and if deployed can cause serious or fatal injury. And since both my husband and i are elderly and disabled, this causes even more concerns.

Been told for 5 years they can not fix the faulty airbags.

We have been notified many times over the past 5=6 years that the air bags were defective. After many calls with the same answer we don't know what to do. We are told there is a problem but no remedy. We recently tried to sell the car but since it had the air bag problem, the value was greatly impacted.it feels like we are driving a ticking time bomb and no one at cadillac or gmc cares about this problem.

Takata recall- i called the dealerships and they said that there is no parts available for the recall of the airbags.

Waiting on followup to this recall since 2016 but the manufacturer doesn't have a remedy yet for this airbags that pose a safety risk of bursting overtime.my vehicle is my daily driver so i am concerned about this. I saw in the news about this today so am following up on the recalls.

The cadillac dealer(s) say they cannot fix the airbags in my vehicle.they say there is no solution to the problem,.

After i left my girlfriend house i got on the interstate and started traveling to work. I was on interstate 59 south and 20 west for about 15 minutes. The conditions outside were cold and dry. I was traveling at 70 mph in far left lane on the road when i was approaching the avenue i exit my roof rail airbags deployed on me. When they deployed on me, the pressure from the airbags pushed against my head and through me against the center console in my escalade but it was a good thing i was wearing a seat belt because the seat belt caught me and kept me from getting thrown out my seat. Also the seat belt caught me right under my neck causing a long scar under it. When the airbags deployed it also cause me to swerve left almost hitting the retainer wall that they have on the interstate and that's when onstar came on and ask me if i was alright and continued to talk to me until the police came and did the incident report. After the police did the report i called in at work and drove the suv home and took it to the dealership. The incident according to my clock happened around 4:30am if not a little earlier.

The truck was in motion on street and on freeway, the speed drops and it feels like it's going to cut off. The windows will not go up or down, the radio shuts off and, all the dashboard lights are on. This has happened at least 3 separate times (twice this year) different dates. There should be 3 pictures shown of that.-last week the vehicle would not start, the battery is 1 yr. Old- good, the radio would not come on, interior lights all worked. Towed to a shop diagnostic was the passenger airbag modular. The airbag light still won't go off.-when the vehicle was purchased in 2015 the service suspension alert was on, the dealer (suburban cadillac in sterling heights, mi) said "don't worry about it right now", this year there the truck started making a buzzing noise. Every mechanic diagnosis something different. Of course the warranty ran out before it started.

Moisture getting into headlamp assembly causing ballast to short, and hid failure

Heated seat control module connection overheated and completely melted on drivers side and there was no indication that this had taken place nor have i ever received any type of warning from gm that this has happened to a great number of other customers having this same poor electrical issues that most ended up starting a fire. I was having my oil changed at the gm dealership, and asked them to check as to why my heated seats were no longer working. The passenger seat was partially melted, so it could have started a fire as well.the repair cost for this problem was absolutely ridiculous and i wasn't about to pay just for the same thing to happen again or constantly worry if repaired, was it gonna cause a fire next time.i still ended up paying to have them search the problem and pay to disconnect the module completely.$800 plus dollars to repair , mostly labor due to the fact that they would have to remove the seat to replace the module. Ha!, they disconnect the burnt up modules without taking my seat out, seriously??? should i be worried about the heated steering as well?!?!.after reviewing how many people have had the same circumstance , cadillac should be doing something about this.you can bet that i'm very furious about this and i expect an answer back with an explanation. Sincerely,[xxx]redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that the manufacturer was unable to supply the part for nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) beyond a three year period. The dealer (capital cadillac of atlanta, 2210 cobb pkwy se, smyrna, ga 30080, (770) 884-7397) confirmed that the part was unavailable. In addition, the engine warning indicator kept randomly illuminating. In previous repairs, the dealer replaced the alternator assembly and replaced a cable for the service charging system due to a constant loss of power. The failure had not been diagnosed by the dealer; however, the contact had a diagnostic trouble code reader that produced a failure code. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The automatic adjustable pedals reset and moved into there start position, which my wife cant reach. She could not reach the pedals and i taking the vehicle to the dealership tomorrow.

My vehicle was parked completely off, when an alarm type of sound started ringing. I looked at my car and i see smoke inside by the dash board, i called my husband and he rushes outside and grabbed a tool. He opened up the hood and alot more smoke came out, he disconnected the battery with the tool and my uncle grabbed the hose and water down the engine part of the car. The fire went out and i right away contact me insurnace.the whole electrical fuse box is burn and im not sure what else is damage in the dash board.

I will be driving and lose all power!it does it at different speeds. Its like someone turns the car off and back on. The weird thing is it will do it alot one day and then it doesnt do it for a couple of days. It always comes back on but in traffic it could be very dangerous. I have had it put on computers and it never has showed anything. And i was reading on recalls on the ignitions and thought it could be a part oif the recall

2008 cadillac escalade. Consumer states vehicle suddenly caught fire and burned while traveling *tgwthe consumer stated on june 30, 2011, his wife picked the vehicle up from the dealer after having the windshield wiper fluid heater recall performed, a inoperative lock on one of the doors fixed and an evaluation of the dvd system that wasn't working properly. The dealer claimed the recall was fixed. However, within 24 hours the vehicle caught on fire. The investigator was unable to determine the cause of the fire, because of the extensive fire damage within the dashboard and the lack of physical evidence.an electrical cause, could not be eliminated.

When i turn on the a/c this smells like oil burning, and i have check engine light on as well. This is because oil is leaking in to the exhaust system.i read that this is a typical issue in these cars. I thought this is a particular car's defect, but i read that is very common issue in the 2008 escalades.

While driving down the highway the vehicle shuts itself off and back on.doors lock and unlock, air conditioner turns itself on and off along with heated seats turning on. Radio increases in volume and vehicle engine increaserpms. With high volume of traffic major safety concern with other traffic involved.

The engine light came on, it was trembling for a month prior to the light. Then pepboys could not find problem. Reset electrical panel. Aweek later brake stabilizer light came on. Took to ocean cadillac in miami. The engine was smoking, knocking and about to go on fire. It lost pressure and i called insurance flatbed.. After fuel pump replaced and $1200later.. Picked up and drove off. 15 minutes later engine vibrating & smoking as service dept closed. They gave me a loaner car, and said fuel pump blown out from engine malfuction.. Other owners, same model, told ,me a common problem that gm repairs for free since on recall.the delearship now says 4,000 bill to fix the root of the problem. This should be covered by gm who does not answer the phone.two months going back and forth the delearship and no more money to give 4,000 to the engine which is on recall & responsibility of gm motors.

First i would like to note that this is the second time this issue has occurred.that being said you can understand why a person would be frustrated when they dish out an estimated 700 dollars for repairs only to be facing the same issue no more than a year later.the problem is with gm's heated seat design. This is not an isolated issue; doing a quick search will bring several forum threads with users reporting the same issues.with the current status of gm in regards to failure to act on potential fire hazards, it's no surprise that they are turning a blind eye here. They are fully aware of the issue and will not take the time to find the root cause. Several users have reported recurring issues even after the "fire hazard" has been fixed/replaced by the dealer at the owners expense. This issue happens when i use the auto start feature in cold whether.i live in minnesota and the temperatures get rather cold, it's really nice to use this feature whenever possible, however, when using the auto start in cold weather, several users as well as myself have reported that this is what is causing the melting wires due to resistance issues relating to the cold weather. The wires under the passenger seat get so hot that you can actually smell it burning as well as visually see the burn damage upon inspecting the control unit which is under the passenger seat. The scariest part of it all is that no fuse will trip during this hazardous process. The wire will simple melt to the point where it will no longer make a good contact and then "hopefully" quit working without causing additional damage. It's only a matter of time before a report comes in of a vehicle burning to the ground, hopefully no one will be hurt because of gm's failure to act "again". Either way, if it does, i will be contacting the news and supplying them this submission as proof that a complaint was filed.

The front seat heaters failed. Prior to failure i noted a medium-strong burning smell, but couldn't identify the source.when i took the vehicle to the dealer they reported that the climate control seat module (ccsm) had melted due to too much current passing through it. They quoted me $1092.00 to replace the part, which might or might not solve the problem.

Service engine trouble code causes engine power reduced to 10%.when the gm computer gets a c1214 trouble code, the factory program reduces engine power to 10%.this has happened to me several times on the interstate highway system. The vehicle will not let you go more than 30 miles per hour. This is a severe safety defect, who cares if the stability/traction control isinoperative, there is no reason to imperil the occupants with a vehicle that will not get out of its own way.i own and have owned many vehicles without stability/traction control and after 1,000,000 miles i have yet to end up side down! you need force gm to correct this line of computer code to allow reasonable performance.

I was driving along at about 45 mph and the rpm s revved up the car wouldn't shift into third .i had to pull over switch the car off and restart it after that it drove fine . Since then at times it shifts hard into first and second and it will get stuck in second sometimes . After i pull over and restart the car it stops . Also the stabilatrack light keeps coming on . I also have a problem with the left side running board not closing .

Went back to gmc- the noise was louder. They just told me i need a new engine!!this car has had so many repairs its awful!!

Gm has manufactured defects/design failures into numerous parts in my 2008 cadillac escalade ext.the door handles all broke off apparently because they used weak plastic parts.the engine is stalling and won't start (possibly due to cam shaft sensor and deffective cam shaft or fuel control module they did a recall on and never fixed on my car)...apparently the oil sensor goes 1st and then the cam shaft and oil pressure issues come next...but this is caused by a defective cam shaft in the 1st place...very dangerous and bound to leave you stranded or cause an accident!as for steering, the power rack & pinion is designed to start leaking requiring a new $450+ part plus labor to put in as there is no way to stop the power steering leakage...finally, the head lights go out and gm could not have made it any harder to replace them nor more expensive- requiring front bumper removal and usually a result of their defective waterproofing of the light and ballast!(i put 1/19 below but these problems have developed over the last year of so right around the 100,000 mile marker)

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several minutes. I started my vehicle one afternoon to a tapping sound dining from under the hood. I checked my oil, which was good then schedule to have my truck looked at by a mechanic. He started that the lifters and bearings needed to be replaced. I have always had the oil and other fluids changed regularly so i don't understand the expensive repair. The mechanic recommend a treatment that would give me time to save for the repair of the replacement of my engine. I now hear that engine failure is common in this vehicle. Why is there not a recall to repair or replace these massive bill of a part that was properly taken care of. My vehicle is still tapping and is now starting a slight jerk while driving and a delay when starting up.

I had a headlight that was out and not working due to condensation and moisture build up. I was going to get it fixed and was scheduled for a few days out to get it repaired. While i was trying (at night) the other one went out!! it was totally dark. I keep having to have it repaired bc the moisture keeps building up over and over.

Lighting we own two escalades from 2008 and have the same exact problem in both cars. Condensation in the headlights and burn them out we were quoted $1,000 for each headlight to fix min!!! heated seats are out in both trucksrims are pitted and pealing.have had a problem with the rims weeks after rolling out of the showroom so disappointed

Using remote start caused the heated seats to burn out. There was an odor of electrical burning. The control module under the passenger seat has visible signs of burning or burnt out. This is a very common problem and there should be a recall as this is clearly a fire hazard. Vehicle was stationary and remote start used.

The ground wire on the seat heater control box, (located under the passenger seat), becomes so hot that it melts the insulation on the wire and eventually burns loose from the plug connection.it is a known problem with this car but gm refuses to fix it unless the owner pays for it, (nearly $1,000).i have repaired this myself on 3 separate occasions but it is a design flaw and the problem keeps re-occurring.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that the second row seats did not lock in the up position and when she drove, the seats would fall back. The vehicle was inspected at an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the seats were designed that way. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The current mileage was 39,085. Updated 8/25/10 updated 08/27/10

Airbag recall: may have defective airbags. Ex: been in a couple collisions and no response from bags.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that she attempted to open the driver rear door and the handle fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the handle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The airbag is not functional, the airbag light stays on.the side mirror is not folding with the remote folding bottom. This is helpful when parking in a parking lot where there are many cars.the body color is colluding.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that the clear coat on the window trim was flaking and peeling on both the front and rear driver sides. The door handle on the rear passenger side was fractured. The vehicle was taken to dealer and the dealer advised that the failure was common. The handle on the rear passenger door was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vin was unavailable. The current mileage was 80,000. The failure mileage was 75,000.updated 07/25/12

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that since purchasing the vehicle, the "service traction control" and "service stabili-trak" message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact was informed by the auction that the failure was due to the low air pressure on the driverā€™s side rear tire. The contact stated while exiting a parking lot, the steering wheel locked-up. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that no issues were found. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated once. The vehicle was taken to another mechanic who diagnosed that the oil sensor and oil pressure switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 165,286.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise progressing within less than thirty days of owning the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop concerning the electronic struts and the contact was unable to get a definite diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 101,093.

The dashboard has cracked and researching the problem, i found that this is a common problem with gm vehicles my year model and after.the vehicle is garage kept and is not exposed to direct sunlight or extreme cold temperatures.

Takata recall the message 'low oil pressure, stop engine' comes on when ever i am at a standstill too long. The dealership has said to start with a new oil pump and go from there, but i could need a new engine. Based on a forum i frequent about escalades, it seems escalade models 2007-2011 are having this same issue. If gm is aware that this is an ongoing issue with these specific year models, maybe they need to do a recall.

I purchased this vehicle from 4 aces automotive in lithonia. They bought the car at an auction on may 27th 2019 with 230,000 miles on it and then miraculously on may 30th 2019 the car pass emissions with only 98000 miles on it. They are tampering with the odometers and selling cars by sneaking in an odometer discrepancy form while you are signing the paperwork without mentioning it or disclosing any information regarding the mileage being wrong. They told me i could call the president the united states for all they care because they make more money suing people than they do selling cars. They stated that their contracts are bulletproof and therefore i will not win a case against them. I am reporting them for fraud this is a felony in all states you cannot tamper with odometers. They are stating that i will not get a refund for the half deposit i put down even though they lied about the odometer, i have already spoken with my bank and the police and they stated that this is illegal and that i need to report him to every agency i can to try and prevent other people from having to go through what i'm going through right now.i have included the carfax that shows the mileage on the 27th of may being 230,000 miles and then after they purchased the vehicle it shows that the emissions was done on may 30th and the car only had 98000 miles on it.

We are concerned about a safety issue with a cracked dashboard and deployment of the takata airbags. On january 8, 2019, two, long, wide cracks appeared in the passenger dashboard from the windshield vent toward the glove compartment. They were about 6' long. Beneath the cracks one could see a light tan, soft looking item. The next day a similar crack appeared on the driver dash. The vehicle was parked in the garage like it has been every day and night.it has about 72,000 miles; we are the 2nd owner and purchased it in 2009 with about 7,000 miles. Because the vehicle is listed as part of the takata airbag recall, we are concerned about the cracks and what may have caused them. Could it be a partial inflation? and will there be flying shards of plastic dash during an inflation of the bags. The car is listed in the nhtsa recall 16v381; manufacture recall number 2049151. The remedy is not yet available. On or about december 29,2016, gm offered to cover the estimated $1,082.78 repair of a cracked dashboard in a 2011 gmc yukon denali in tate county, mississippi. Landers buick gmc is the point dealership for mid-south gm cracked dashboard complaints.

On 3 separate occasions over the past 10 years the accelerator has stuck and accelerated. Only standing on the brake gradually brought vehicle to a stop with engine still revving. This continued for about 15 minutes before it stopped and drove normal. After parking and starting up the engine again the accelerator stuck again for a period of 30 minutes. After letting the truck sit for 2 days it ran fine tot he mechanic who could not find any problems.i drive on mountain trails and roads with steep cliffs so no fun fighting this big truck up and down the mountain, not to mention my brakes were burning up

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. When the vehicle was started, the navigation, radio, and time lights illuminated and flashed on and off. After the contact returned home and parked the vehicle, it rolled backwards, dragging part of the contact's clothing and the safety seat that was in her hand. The contact was able to pull herself and the safety seat away from the rolling vehicle before it crashed into a tree in front of the neighbor's house. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained bruises on her left leg and left arm. The contact scheduled an appointment to see the doctor in three days. The vehicle was damaged and driven back to the contact's home. A police report was not filed. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was waiting for an evaluation of the damages by the insurance company. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. While driving approximately 65 to 70 mph on normal road conditions; there was an unintended forceful acceleration. The vehicle failed to slow down and the driver manually shifted gears into the "neutral" position. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel; suddenly, the vehicle resumed to normal operation. There were three separate occasions that the identical failures occurred without warning. An authorized dealer was unable to replicate the failures. The contact was aware of the safety risk involved.the vehicle is not being driven at this time. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 57,000.

The contact owns a 2008 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that the driver's and passenger side headlights failed to operate due to condensation and moisture. The contact then stated that the moisture caused the bulbs and the ballast to fail. The contact contacted cadillac of norwood ((781) 762-5900, 700 boston providence hwy, norwood, ma 02062) where the contact stated that the dealer refused service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

We have had to replace four wheels now need a fifth due to leaking air pressure. No help from cadillac. Just buy another wheel. They are junk. Constantly adding air. Now one is completely flat. Tires are in excellent condition.
