After approximately 1 year the truck started releasing the brakes on its own while descending a mountain and had to reapply to engage for brakes to work this has happened at least 10 times since we bought the truck. Its was inspected at the dealership where it was bought and nothing was ever done . I was told it was normal for this to occur and nothing was wrong with the truck. Other issues are the electrical in the dash has shorts and sometimes the a/c does not work and comes on by itself. The gauges ,speedometer and fuel gauge do not work anymore and the air bag light stays on . On july 28th 2011, my 2003 cadillac escalade awd would not start. It had power to the seats, horn, lights, but no power to the locks, windows or radio. Therefore, i knew i didn't need a battery jump. I check the inside fuse panel and no blown fuses were found. I went to the fuse box underneath the hood and discover the 40amp ignition-b fuse was blown. I installed another 40amp fuse and it immediately blew out. I disconnected the battery, installed another fuse and the fuse blew out when i reconnected the battery. I removed the starter, disconnected the alternator, crank sensor, oil level sensor and both ignition coil packs. The fuse still blew out when i reconnected the battery. I reconnected all items previously mentioned and went underneath dash-board on the driver's side and check all the wiring harnessing and wires. I went back to the fuse box under the hood, flipped the fuse box up to see the underside. Located the wire that's connecting to the blown fuse, trace wire underneath the dashboard to the harness near the steering shaft. The connecting wiring on the other side of the harness (red wire with a white strip) was shorted on an eighth inch metal bracket bolted to the firewall with four nuts. This same metal bracket is up against and possibly cutting into the wires attach to the wire harness next to the steering shaft. I applied electrical tape to the wire that shorted on the metal bracket to repair the problem. I installed another fuse and the truck started up.

The battery in my escalade had been dying on me for a while. One day, my gauges all stayed stuck as if i was driving on the freeway. I drove it for a while until i was tired of jump-starting it almost everyday and i finally replaced the battery.the gauges all stayed the same. A few days went by and the battery started to die again. I realized that this was more than just a battery problem. I drove it 5 miles away from my place on the freeway and as i was coming back home it started to decelerate all on it's own. It marked "system stability disabled" and would not let me go over 25 mph. I have not driven it since november and would like to know what is going on with this. I read about a recall but this problem was supposed to be fixed since 2002 when the recall notice was sent out. As i have read the descriptions on what people's problems with this same type of vehicle was, i notice that it is exactly what is going on with my vehicle. (bcm recall 2002 #02066).

Electronic stability control problem on the 2003 cadillac escaladetraction control light comes on, abs light comes on, service stability control alarm comes on. While driving down the road service stability track message would appear on the dashboard message center. That would then disable the traction control system. An audible ding-ding would sound about every thirty-seconds as you were driving down the road. The button on the dash was inoperable and would not shut off the system. Cadillac advised my dealer that i would have to wait for the 2004 models to be released to get the problem fixed. When vehicle was in the shop to be fixed it was also found that the abs module needed to be replaced because that was not functional. I had 50 miles on the vehicle when the problem was first noticed.

When accelerating into traffic, the engine looses power and the "traction control message" comes on.the car comes to a stop.when you lift your foot off the accelerator the message goes out and when you press the accelerator, the engine engages. It happens 2 to 3 times a week and is very dangerous when it happens when pulling into traffic. The car behind almost rams me and i am in a dangerous position with merging traffic. I have taken it to a gm dealer several times but they have been unable to find a code for this or tosolve the problem. It is a dangerous situation as you never know when it is going to occur.

Chrome lining of wheels has been peeling for years. When first appeared factory rep from cadillac/gm inspected car and stated only cosmetic (car was still under warranty). My concern was that it would eventually go into the interface of the tire and wheel. I have complained to gm several occasions.it has.been brought back to dealer numerous times where it has been acknowledged to be a problem and that they had a fix. This fix was performed numerous times at dealer and other tire dealers, mr tire and goodyear. All of the tire dealers have knowledge of the issue right away. The issue in also noted many times on the internet. We can check pressure and load tires to specs go on a ride on highway and feel some loss of steering after a hundred miles. Then need to add pressure. This is a chronic issue with acute instances that has potential of creating an automobile accident especially at highway speeds. Dealer wants $1000.00 per wheel to replace plus labor. Gm not interested in any financial help or acknowledgement, case # 71-1423629281 (january 13, 2015).they stated that they "have to follow company guidelines", that the "issue is tricky because i have called numerous times in the past but there is no recall", "the year of my vehicle precludes any fix", "our guidelines only cover up to 8 years" ...... Please help. This is a known issue with a fix that does not last (and i have to pay for), and has the potential to cause loss of steering and an eventual accident.

When the vehicle was inmotion, the driver's seat would slide back and forth.the consumer feltunsafe while driving.the dealershipinspected the vehicle several times and refused to or correct the problem.*sc

The heat from the rear seat caused the fabric to burn. Taken to dealer for checkup and results showed that there was a shortage in the wiring, which caused the seat to over heat.

There exists a design defect in the 2003 cadillac escalade that results in repeated accidental activation of the driver's seat heating system, most critically in the summer, creating a constant burn hazard. The driver's window control button cannot be activated without frequent and repeated accidental activation of the seat heating system because the heating buttons physically block access to the window controls. To lower the window, one's hand must make physical contact with the seat heater activation buttons. For insulin dependent diabetics (such as myself) as well as others who may have a deminished ability to sense abnormal heating, this presents an extremely serious burn harzard.

Complete brake system failure due to brake line leak due to inferior brake lines

I was on i 75 passing under miller rd in flint, mi when traffic started to back up and slow down. I applied the brakes and the car stated to slow down, the brake peddle then went to the floor and i had no brakes. I was able to down shift to 1st gear and get to the side of the road. The car slowed down to where i could get it into reverse to stop it. We where so lucky!i got it to a cadillac dealer in dearborn, mi and found out that the main brake line had rusted through. I had all the brake line replace. I have major concerns that there are thousands of gm vehicles with this problem still on the road. I have since been told that gm had a brake line material problem during the early 2000 that lead to rusting out of the lines. Please look into this for the safety of others. Driving home from work on a slightly icy road, the car ahead of me was coming to a stop. I hit my brakes, but the ground was a little slick so the abs kicked on.i pushed the pedal harder, there was a pop noise, and my brake pedal went to the floor.the brake warning chime came on, along with a message that said "service braking system" in the dic on the instrument panel.my brakes were no longer functional, and i narrowly avoided hitting the car in front of me.i had a dash cam running at the time, and captured a video of the incident, which i have put on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve6gqfiwq_ai was able to pull into a parking lot up the road, at which point i popped the hood and saw a puddle of brake fluid directly under the master cylinder.when a friend arrived to give me a ride home, i had him push the brake pedal so i could see where the fluid was escaping.it was coming from a split in one of the brake lines under the master cylinder (also on youtube): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mudtdmzla2u i noted that all of the brake lines that i could see looked extremely corroded, and decided to file a complaint once i saw that it wasn't a freak incident and that many others have had similar problems with their gm trucks / suvs.

Breaks went to the floor and car went down embankment.

While driving i lost all use of brakes immediately after the brake system light came on driving 45mph on a city street. While driving the stability control light came on and car shut off 60mph on the highway. On another occasion stability control light came on and steering column locked up while turning.t/c light and engine light came on while driving 35 mph on a city street and immediately lost response from the gas pedal. Dash lighting system flashes different indicator lights, display randomly goes out while driving.

Brakes have failed completely three times because of failure of hydraulic lines/components.last time when brake failed i was on a freeway and i hit the brake to slow down the car to take an exit and lost complete control of the car.thanks god no damage took place.i am having lot of rust/corrosion/chrome failure problem with this car.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, she applied the brakes to avoid a vehicle pulling into her lane but the vehicle continued to move forward and then skidded. The vehicle finally came to a stop and the stability system disabled as the brake lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle home and once parked, she noticed there was puddle of brake fluid under the vehicle. Upon further inspection, the contact found that the brake lines suffered from severe corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 85,337.

This truck was purchased with zero miles on it and purchased for over $ 70,000and now only has 103,000 miles on it.

I was driving home from work and when i brake the pedal went all the way to the floor, i had no brakes what so ever, lucky me i was close to home, it looks like the brake lines is broke, i have a pool of brake fluid in my drive way.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac escalade. The contact was driving 45 mph when she attempted to engage the brakes but to no avail. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 109,00.

I own a 2003 cadillac escalade purchased used from the original known owner last year. 27,500 original miles garage kept whole life and never driven in inclement weather by original owner or myself. Had vehicle in for pa safety inspection today, was told excessive corrosion was found on fuel and brake lines and undercarriageof vehicle. I was informed brake lines needed to be replaced asap. Repair garage suggested contacting nhtsa as a preliminary investigation was launched of january 26, 2011 at 10:34 amnhtsa action number : ea11001 it would appear many other owners are having the same issues as mine and i wanted to be on record with regards to the investigation.

Cadillac escalade2003 power steering failed when brakes applied at slow speed. The dealer attempted to correct the problem by fixing doing various things to the brakes.gm finally admitted there was no fix to the problem.

While driving 20 mph brakes failed.as a result, consumerhad to run into a curb to stop the vehicle. *mr

Brake line corrosion caused rapid loss of hydraulic fluid .steel line ruptured within a plastic retainer located on the left side of the car on the left frame rail directly behind the left front shock.. I have keptthe exact ruptured part.. There were no signs of corrosion anywhere else on the vehicle in fact the rest of the line looks good..the plastic retainer, for some reason accelerated the rate of corrosion in a small isolated area.i work in the automotive industry over 25 years experience.. I can assist in any information if needed...this problem will definitely injure someone....

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac escalade. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and it felt as if she would lose control of the vehicle while driving at certain speeds. On occasion, the driver's seat belt tightened and loosened on its own. Furthermore, the emergency brake was faulty and needed to be adjusted, the check engine indicator illuminated, and the "rear door maintenance" message appeared on the instrument panel.

I purchased a 2003 cadillac escalade on 02/11/06.at the time it had around 64000 miles on it.a few months later the speedometer started jumping around but it would go back to normal.after a while it would stay stuck for several days and then go back to normal.in july 2007 it was not working properly at all when we went on vacation in florida but while we were there it started working properly again.it worked for several months after that and then it started sticking again and stayed on 120 mph whether it was moving or not.we were told that because we had over 70,000 miles it was not under warranty.we received a letter stating that gm would replace the instrument cluster under 80,000 miles but since now we have 95,000 miles and they will not fix the problem.we will have to pay the expense to have it repaired which will be between $500 or $600.this is clearly a safety issue and it is widespread and after researching the problem it has nothing to do with the mileage.there needs to be something done for owners no matter how many miles are on the vehicle.we have never had this problem on another automobile. It is clearly a defect which should be corrected by gm at their expense.

Some body take my truck like a robbery. Im have a police report bit they don't find it.

2003 cadillac escalade ext-safety defect. *mr the tires rubbed against the undercarriage any time the wheels were turn hard left or right.a representative at the sales dealer suggested that the panels in the wheel well should have been grinded down prior to delivery.in reviewing the owner manual, the vehicle was only designed for 17" wheels.20" wheels could cause danger in the inner walls of the tires and could cause a blow out. *sc

The car accelerates as soon as you turn it on and it just keeps accelerating so we have to turn it of because it does not stop. The car was in motion when this happened.
