Takata recall. One day was driving all was well it had just sprinkled before ia left home. Roads were whet i slowed down to cross rr tracks when increased gas tires slipped or spun a lil, from bumps on tracks and acceleration made numerous sensors i think got faulty. Suspension traction, service engine soon,, abs, and air bag. I reset information control center. But with in 3 mins after you take off they all light up again abs i just changed brake pads 4 months ago there still under warranty.going with ceramic this time. I also have 2 psi sensors out. Neither back window goes down one needs motor the other on the regulator a plastic clip that keeps it inline is worn out. I figured that out. But idk why all them safety warnings came on and why i cannot get traction control to ever go off? just find it weird happened all at once car still starts and runs fine. I'm just worried i think air bag needs to be recharged or inspected.my plan is to restore it needs minor repairs but dealerships is a rip off. If i can find where these electrical sensors are i will do it my self. They ridiculously over charge for everything. I was crossing rail road tracts at a slight angle.cause unknown.

While driving the engine would stall intermittently.it frequently happened on the freeways while driving 55 mph, but was not necessarily confined to freeway driving.it happened on side streets and while crossing the railroad tracks and intersections.we took the vehicle to our dealer.they told us repeatedly that they couldn't duplicate the problem.between october 2013 and jan/feb 2014 we spent over $2,000 for different parts the dealer thought was the problem.to be fair, part of the money was spent for brakes and other service.my husband passed away jan. 28, 2014 and the vehicle was at the dealers.it still wasn't fixed.i asked them to please keep the car and see if they could find why the stalling was happening. 1. There is no warning the car just slow down at any speed and turn the steering wheel.2. It happen all day long and other days no problem.3. I have taken the car to one dealership for repairs at least 3 times and once in va. Each time they either did nothing or they guest at it because they could not figure it out. Now they refuse to work on it until it totally breaks down. However, the employee of the dealerships have charged my warranty company at least 5,000 and the warranty company does not want to pay any more money for guessing. Therefore the dealership is asking me to pay 94.00 an hour so they can guess some more. Lastly,i was told when leaving the dealership that i declined further diagnosis which is not true. He also told me that it looks like a possible major electrical problem and if that's the case they are waiting for a major car fire before they try to correct the problem. In that case it could be to late for me, my girlfriend and her children. One or all of us could be killed in a electrical fire. I have had this problem every since i bought this car 04/27/2007, and the last incident was 07/07/2009. Updated 01/13/10.

All four windows are defective. They fell down one after another starting a year after purchase, and will not say up. This issue is widespread and popular with this model and year vehicle. They made a crackling sound and fell down for no reason of my own. I was quoted a price of $199 to repair each window. It is 2013 and i still haven't repaired any of the windows. Driving from exit ramp onto highway car was very difficult to keep in center of lane,is seems to be better after stability system replaced in steering column.was not called in for recall of keys until, 12/05/14.heater stopped working by 50%, electric door lock stopped working approx same time.brakes not working as well, same time frame. Everything was checked out in feb; this year, although started noticing steering problems august, september., 2014.i thought it was a slow leak in the tire causing the steering problem, although now believe it had something to do with the stability control system, steering column area. We were charged for the repair, even though it falls under the recall complaints.what we thought was going to be a $100 or $150.00 job, as i ok'dthem to use the multi-point inspection machine and check anti freeze level, costs us $688.15.the first estimate was over $4,000, unbelievable, in which the agent said " they had to pay the mechanic for his labor". $533.76 for labor, $131.50 for a part which is a recall. Service stability control system . I will be going back to talk with gmc manager.

We drove the vehicle in question to walmart. We were in the store for approx. 15-30 minutes before returning to vehicle, using the keyless entry remote to unlock the car. Upon entering the car, we could not insert the key into the ignition- the anti-theft system was still engaged. We tried everything we could think of- lock and unlock with key fob, lock and unlock with key in door, unplug battery and plug it back in, and even trying to lube up the ignition pieces to see if they were just stuck- and nothing has worked. It's now an over-sized paperweight sitting in the parking lot of our apartment complex.

Vehicle overheated, engine went into protect mode, driver info center directed me to shut down vehicle, i pulled off to the side of the road promptly and shut vehicle down. I waited for 15 minutes, turned ignition to on position, and it read it was cooled down enough to drive. I took off onto the road again, a half a mile later, i had to do the same thing. I waited 30 minutes for a some one to meet me at the location, this person restarted the vehicle and drove it 2 miles to my house, where it overheated again in the driveway. After replacing the water pump, belts, thermostat, and radiator, it was discovered that the head bolts were indeed what was causing the vehicle to overheat. The mechanic found that they were at the incorrect torque and that there was combustion chemicals in the cooling system. I now am replacing the gaskets, bolts, and may have to get the heads machined, but work has not been completed on the vehicle as of yet.

Torque converter develops leaks which is a full rebuild of transmisson issue, this can result in vehicle to stop running in traffic conditions without any prior knowledge of problem. It is a problem that should be rectified by car manufacturer, as peoples safety is at risk, let alone he thousands of dollars required to fix this issue for suchan expensive car. I now have ownership of a car i cannot register as it won't pass smog due to this issue. It is useless to me and i am in dire need of a vehicle to get to dr. Appointments as i am disabled. And money is gone so public transportation which is very little in my area is a cost i cannot assorb. Thankyou g.m.....you build a beautiful vehicle and put a crap transmisson in it!

Transmission leakage from a 2004 dhs with 74.000 miles on it. Fluid from the seal spilling out on the frame and ex pipes could catch on fire.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac deville. The contact stated that the front driver side power seat moved forward independently. The dealer replaced the two power seat fuses. After short local drive of about 20 miles, i stopped for gas and filled my tank.i was alone in vehicle, no passenger, and when i restarted my car i smelled something burning.in seconds, i observed white smoke pouring out of passenger seat belt retractor.the car immediately filled with smoke.i exited car and ran around car and opened both passenger side doors letting smoke out. The smoke was still coming out andi was still parked at gas pump, so i left the doors opened, got back in the car and moved it to a safer place.by the time i had moved the car, the seat had stopped burning, so i waited a few minutes and drove the car home about five miles.the car had an unbelievable bad smell in it that burned my eyes and gave me a headache.i took the car to my local gm dealer and they repaired the seat by replacing the lumbar switch and switch holder under warranty.my concern is that if this seat could catch fire without anyone even sitting in it, then the drivers seat would even be more at risk.my other concern is that if this fire had started while driving through a city, the speed at which the car filled with smoke would have made it extremely dangerous getting safely off the road.my dealer tried to assure me that it had not happened before and it would be very unlikely to happen again.i still do not trust this vehicle and i will most likely trade it in but i think this problem should be researched by someone other than a gm dealer.i'm certain parts are no longer available.

1. Driving 2004 cadillac dhs, in rush hour traffic 7 jan 06 on friday, 2. Complete brake failure. Only through divine intervention was there not a accident!3. Vehicle was towed to dealer, broken part replaced. Without use of my auto until tuesday.(note, the gm road service operator made the comment "that usually they talk with relatives of the driver, when this happens because of the results of the failure)i can supply the part number that failed. Just not at this moment. I all so think that this part is used across gms fleet, not just in the cadillac!

I was accelerating onto main hi-way when steering wheel locked up and could not turn steering wheel and was almost hit by a motor home as my car went straight across hi way instead of turning which i was trying to do. Took a few tries to get vehicle safely off road as steering wheel could not be turned.called my son who brought tools to take steering column apart.when i inspected the cause, the steering wheel lock button would not disengage so had to remove steering wheel lock button from steering column. Since then the vehicle has no steering wheel lock so car can be shifted without pressing the brake at the same time but by simply moving the gear shift lever when key is in run or accessory position!

While driving in rainy conditions, the driver, my dad, exited an interstate highway onto a down-sloped ramp. Near the termination point of exit where it had a left turn and a right turn lane, he attempted to turn the steering wheel to the right to enter the right turn lane. However, the steering wheel locked up, failing to turn the wheels to the right, and the car struck another car sitting in the left-turn lane. My mother, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, suffered whiplash as a result of the incident. My dad experienced the rainy weather steering problem many times during the 41,000 miles he drove the car. Although he addressed the problem with various cadillac dealerships and independent mechanics several times, none of them ever fixed it. I inherited the car upon my dad's death, and the first time i drove it in the rain in december 2012, the steering wheel froze when i attempted to make a left turn on a city street, and i nearly struck a pedestrian crossing the street. I reported it to cadillac via their website in december 2012, but they didn't respond to my inquiry. The car is virtually useless to me, but i, out of good conscience, won't sell it to someone else. This problem has been reported repeatedly to the nhtsa and on many websites, such as http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2004/cadillac/deville/steering/problem.aspx and http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/16219/cadillac/deville/cadillac-deville-steering-problems. An unsuspecting person driving a car with this problem is like playing russian roulette! what must happen to get nhtsa to force gm to issue a recall and get this very serious, life-threatening problem fixed? will it take loss of life? please, nhtsa, give us some help!

When going through a puddle at low speed the power steering disengages. There is a squeal sound like a belt rubbing and the steering returns.

Vehicle steering becomes difficult or fails in rain or wet road conditions on right hand turns at slow speeds, or when pulling in or out of a parking space. This has been ongoing for at least two years.

Rainy season has started in florida. I ran our 2004 deville through a very shallow puddle on the 14th of may, and immediately lost the ability to turn the steering wheel in either direction. Using muscles power it was almost impossible to turn the wheel. Fortunately we were in a grocery store parking lot with no traffic.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac deville. The contact stated that while driving on a mountain at a slow speed, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,331.

I have had continuous issues with my steering on the certified used vehicle which i bought in 2006.over the last 6 to 9 months the steering has started to fail when it is raining.it is momentary, but the car cannot be controlled.i brought my car to tom peacock cadillac in houston - it is still under warranty - and they failed to look at my steering and sent me home w/out even addressing it - although the paperwork shows that i complained about it and wanted it looked at.i've sent a complaint letter on 10/6 and have had no response.i am filing a complaint with the better business bureau.this could cause an accident when the steering fails, as the car literally cannot be steered.

Carwould not steer to right in rain. Difficult to turn steering wheel especially to the right. Only after stopping could i turn the vehicle to the right w/o considerable difficulty. My wife had complained about this before but i did not think it was like this. The dealer told my wife they have this problem.if so it is going to get someone killed. The car is an 04 model and has just over 51,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2004 cadillac deville.whenever it rained, the contact stated that the steering wheel would lockwhen he attempted to turn the wheel.thedealer was notified of the failure, but found no failure within the steering wheel. This car has continually stalled out at different speeds.i was told it was the throttle position sensor so i replaced that.that seemed to fix it temporarily but just yesterday i was driving on the highway and the car completely cut off going 55mph plus.the car completely stalled died out and i had no control over anything.had this happened in the fast lane with more traffic my death would have been on the news.i want this fixed at no cost to me as this is ludicrous this car has such a defect.i buy a high end luxury car for high end luxury not to be in a pinto type death trap.i want this documented so others also know about this issue as dealer should know about issue and not being able to replicate results is bs as i stated it doesn't happen often but at random times.car starts up right after the stall but the stall is the horrific issue!

Power steering failed repeatedly during rainy weather.

2004 cadillac deville steeering fails if raining or car is driven through standing water. 6 months ago i was making a right turn during a rain storm and the steering failed. I had to use excessive force to keep turning the car. I almost hit a minivan broadside. This now happens every time it rains or there is water on the road. My cadillac dealer said its a design flaw that cannot be fixed and refused to offer any help other than to offer to sell me a buick. I have contacted gm/cadillac with no results. I have had many near misses when the steering fails at random in wet weather. This defect is going to cause a crash. It is should be fixed by cadillac in a recall asap. I will not allow anyone to drive this car during wet weather. A amaller person will not have the muscle to control the car at any speed above 5 mph.

Whenever it rains or there is high humidity, the power steering completely locks up. I was almost in an accident yesterday due to this, and have had the problem before also. This is a serious defect. I have been to the dealership and they claim there is no recall or known way to fix it.

I veered right to avoid a vehicle who approached over the center yellow line, the wheel locked, and i crashed over guardrail and into a utility pole. The airbags never deployed. I was not injured, and did not seek medical attention. The vehicle was a total loss. I did not know my vehicle was involved in a recall until my insurance provider sent me a document to that effect as part of the payout for the car. I've been driving for over 40 years, i am a defensive driver. I have 15 keys on my keychainwhat happened was just as theyoutlined i am totally screwed in this whole situation.

Every time i drive during rainy weather, the power steering of my 2004 cadillac deville malfunctions. I have had several near-crashes because i was unable to turn the steering wheel. When this happens, i must unexpectedly exert a lot of strength to turn the wheel. This problem is definitely a safety hazard. I contacted my authorized cadillac dealer and was told that the cause for the problem is the peculiar design of this vehicle.when the belt gets wet or moist, it slips on the pulleys and ceases to turn them, causing the power steering pump to fail. The dealer was not able to correct this design defect. I request that this particular model be recalled because of the repetitive failure of the power steering system.this is a recurring problem and has happened again today three times.please instruct general motors to correct this serious safety hazard before somebody gets killed or is seriously injured.

Lower steering shaft replaced because of noise. New shaft installed but noise is still there.

Steering fails in rain.what else is there to say, complete inability to avoid an accident or make a turn during rain or wet conditions.if this is not a safety hazard, i don't know what is.do we have to wait until someone is killed????apparently many, many others have had the same problem and cadillac is unwilling to make good on the problem and/or the dot has not stepped up to address the situation either.who is taking care of who???

During rainy weather or high humidity, the steering on my 2004 cadillac fails. This has caused several near-collisions.the cadillac dealer told me that this is a design defect on this model. Something must be done before i or someone else gets hurt or killed!

I was leaving a restaurant and as i was crossing the intersection my car shut off ,i got it started and as i got to the red light it shut off again so had to keep my foot on the brake and gas at the same time. Once i got back on the interstate i had nomore problems. About 6 months later i was at mcdonalds drive-thru at 2am when my car shut off, i coasted into the closest parking space and my car locked up and i had no power at all and i was locked inside i manually unlocked my door got out of my car and i had to call aaa. My car would not crank when aaa man tried to jump under the hood, he had to take my backseat out to jump start it, he got it started and he told me he couldn't understand what happened. On another occasion my gas pedal sticks and i had to pull over and shut my car off and i waited about 5 minutes and started my car up and it was fine after that, and my car still shuts off most when i am idling or going slow thru town and my service stability warning steady runs, i turn the reset button and it comes back on , please help me fix these problems because i love my car.

When the weather is rainy and roads are wet the steering locks up in a curve or making a regular right turn for about 3-5 seconds and continues moving but cannot be controlled during that time which is an opportunity for an accident.the car emits a loud shrill sound.this happened the first few times in november 2005 and brandon cadillac replace the power steering pump. Florida rainy seasons ends in december and starts again in june, therefore the problem is recurring.

Took car in for locating oil leak;nothing found; instead, a tie rod needed replacing.item ordered and replaced. Covered under warranty.

The letter i just received states "schedule an appointment with your cadillac dealer as soon as possible"i was given a date of december 1, 2014. To bring the car in for the gm recall 14299 to be done to the vehicle. That is 50 days from now. That is unbelievable...almost 2-months in advance. General motors you should understand why are dealerships taking this in stride?i think this is unconscionable to have an appointment so far in the future when my life could be at stake, or my family?i think this recall should be on the dealers top list of having this done as soon as possible. In days, not the way i have been treated.the name of the dealership is kenny ross somerset, pennsylvania.

The regulators on all four power windows broke, all while driving on higher speed roads (main thoroughfares or highways), three out of four on occasions with inclement precipitous weather and/or extreme cold.this was not only expensive to repair each time, but created an unsafe driving environment exposing the driver and passengers to the elements!a representative at the dealer in nashville said the company knew this was common but never was held to a recall.over $1,200 for repairs over the years because of some cheap chinese-made plastic parts!how do i know that the replacements will hold up?having just found out about this site, i can't begin to imagine what happened to the receipts, but i needed emergency repairs while traveling between nj and tn.the first event was about 12 years ago (the date below is an estimate for the first one of the incidents, but there were four total).the mileage for the first event is merely a guestimate of 75,000 miles.the vehicle now has over 203,000 miles.the last of four was about five or six years ago.unbelievable to me that cadillac has done nothing and wasn't held to a recall!

When driving the car the "service engine soon" light would come on. I took it to the local gm dealer and the told me the computer was bad and needed to be replaced. They got the new part in and tried to program it and "fried" the part. After trying 13 units i was told that there is a defect in the part and that gm was sending 2 engineers to mexico to investigate the factory where they are made. It was then determined that it is now a software issue that gm changed the software over 1 1/2 years ago and upload procedure and was now looking to see where the problem is. It has now been 6 weeks since my car has been in the shop and i have no estimation as to when the problem will be solved. I was also told that there are as amny as 10 to 20 cars around the us with the same problem and are unreapairable at this time. It is obvious that gm knew they had a problen since they changed the procedure 1 1/2 years ago since my car is not the first to experience this.

All the windows have fallen downone time or another in the past 6 months! on june28th 2011 i replaced the front passenger regulator. Just to have it fail again under four months. I only used the window three times! i have read all the complaints from other owners of this year of cadillac power window problems and their should be a recall! this is the worst car i have ever owned. It is a hunk of junk!!! this latest regulator problem happened two hours ago! october 23rd 2011.

Have had a failure of three window regulators in the past 3 months in my 2004 cadillac deville.

The windows keep falling down on my new car. Operating mechanism is improperly designed.

Within the past 20 months, i have had three of my window regulators break on my 2004 cadillac dhs and have paid over $1000 to repair two of them. The third is now going to cost me $690.00. I contacted gm and they refused to do anything about it claiming it is not their problem. The service manager at the local dealership advised there is a problem with 2001-2004 models and their window regulators. I also notice on-line that there are many complaints about the window regulators breaking, however gm refuses to do anything about it. Is there any way that this could be looked into by the federal government and possibly cause a recall on these items because obviously gm is refusing to admit that there is a problem. Thank you for your consideration.

This vehicle needs to be recalled to repair this factory defect.this issue is very disconcerting, embarrassing and a nuisance.

I have experienced two power window failures on my 2004 deville within a one month period while driving. Windows fell into the doors, front and back, and would not raise. Both failures were on a car with 55 thousand miles on it. Dealer repaired it at the cost of $686.00. Contacted cadillac customer service with them refusing to admit there is a problem and unwilling to offer any compensation toward the repairs. I am waiting for the other two to fail. Right front window dropped/broke down causing a $500 repair. Three months latter the left rear window also broke causing another $500 repair. Now, in 2014 the right rear window has broken, while driving on the freeway, startling my wife and grandchild with another very loud bang!this is a continuing problem on a car that only has 48,500 miles on it, and is always parked inside a garage.
