I was driving at approximately 60 mhp on i77 north - without notice of any kind it became very difficult to steer my vehicle and i lost control as well as all power & acceleration.all of this happened so fast but i looked down and noticed several dash board/warning lights on.these lights normally only go on for a second or so when starting the car.having no power or acceleration i was able to navigate my car to the side of the road with out an accident but immediately noticed that my ignition was already turned off.the ignition key was not all the off - just in the position as if i was parked and wanted to listen to the radio.once pulled over i placed the car in "park" turned the key all the way off and restarted the car.it started right up.however, now both my "service engine soon light" and "air bag" light stays illuminated at all times. They do not go out once the car is started.i am not able to notice any difference in the performance or handling at this time but am concerned with the lights remaining on at all times when driving as well as the safety of the air bags.

The engine turned off and i lost power steering and power brakes. The engine restarted ok after the incident.

It is setting in the garage, and i have no car because i've been sent a notice that it's recalled because of the key problem, but they have no parts!!! so, i am without a car, in the country. They should supply me a car if they can't fix it!

A recall letter was sent to me, i contacted to gm to let them know their recall was a little too late and luckily i was not on the road when this happened i was in a store parking lot when this occurred. I experienced complete loss of brakes, steering and electrical. I thought it was a battery issue. I purchased a new battery. I had to carry the battery 3 miles each way, it was not the battery .car was towed, repairs were found to be ignition problem and a module needed to be replaced, costing over $800, how do i get reimbursed for this? gm said they would get back to me and its been 3 weeks,i have heard nothing. I would appreciate your help. I have all the receipts and had we been told of the recall a big expense might of been saved, how do i get some sort of claim form to get reimbursed?

For the second time in about one month, the engine died and electric power went out (dashboard lights). The car restarted without difficulty when i pulled off the road and put it into park.we received a recall notice on this vehicle in august. After the first incident i carefully checked the battery cables and found nothing wrong. The battery is almost new. After getting the recall notice i checked the operation of the ignition switch and i found that the detent works perfectly. I had turn the key ccw by a large amount to turn off the engine and no amount of jiggling would cause the fault. Two different keys were involved in the two episodes. There is no possibility that my failures are related to weight hanging on the key.even so i asked the local dealer as well as the gm hotline when they can install the "fixes" and i was told that no parts may be available for months. About two weeks ago a person on the gm hotline promised to find a dealer with parts and call me back but did not do so.i have no confidence that gm will solve my problem with their recall fix, if and when it is executed, and fear that there is another common cause for the many failures that have been reported.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac deville. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical). However, the parts needed were not available. My car turns off while driving.no power for brakes, steering or lights.i had recall for key rotation completed last week but my car turned off last night while doing 70 on interstate.the mossy of picayune dealership states that the recall may not be the cause but from what i read before taking car in...the problem with key rotation causes car to turn off without warning.i consider this a life threatening problem and need to know how to proceed to prevent bodily harm to myself and possibly others.the car had been turning off prior to the recall.

Ignition recall: on 12 march 2015 i took my 2003 cadillac deville into valley cadillac rochester, ny as part of the gm ignition recall. Prior to that my vehicle would just shut down for no reason. After having my vehicle serviced, i hit a pot hole on the city street and my vehicle stopped running. Last week i was turning a corner after coming off the freeway off ramp turning on to a city street and my vehicle stopped again and everything locked up. The recall fix did not repair my vehicle. I am calling valley cadillac first thing monday to get it serviced again.

The wheel monitoring light continues to indicate a malfunction.the ignition switch slot prevents me from removing the key. To remove the ignition key, i have to manipulate the gear handle in order align the extraction of the key.

Car purchased 10/16/2003 with 15200 mileage. Left rear door regulator failed. This door could not have been used in 9 years more than 20-25 times. Dealer, royal cadillac, charged $694.95 for replacement. I complained to cadillac, requesting reimbursement, and they refused. Research indicates that door regulator failures on this make and model were well known and published many years ago. Given the little useage of this door (we are senior citizens and rarely have rear seat passenders) i believe this defect to exist at the time of purchase.

The abs & traction control indicators come up on the screen along with check as i'm driving. When this happens my brakes make a weird sound like a sprung spring and the brakes feel like they're gone but they're not. It's scary be sure i feel i may not be able to stop which to me is a safety hazard. No codes show even though the check light came on, but none of the indicator lights ever stay on very long, it's off and on , off and on, just pops up occasionally, all 3 together every time. It may go days before they decide to pop up on the dash again.the first time this happen i was just heading out for work so the car has not been driven since the prior dayit was stable on level ground as i started backing out of my driveway. When i reached the point to apply the brakes that's when the weird baked sound accompanied by the brake paddle feeling like my brakes weren't working and dash lights appeared. This happens during braking.i was told that the tire pressure sensor,/ monitor thing could be the cause. That's another thing. Why have tire pressure effect the workability 9f my brakes and traction control? they have nothing to do with tire pressure.also the electric rear windows seem to be an issue since day one. Every owner of the 03 cadillac deville has complained of the windows just falling out of place both outside & inside the door for no reason other than a bad design defect. Why should the consumers continue to replace the windows at no fault of ours?gm has known of this issue from the first year of manufacturing, yet it is us, the buyers, consumers that are paying and not just out of money but the risk of broken glass hurting a backseat passengera child or adult that could potentially become a law suite for gm. This is why it definitely should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac deville. While driving approximately 45 mph, the temperature warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle overheated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that there was a blown head gasket, which caused internal damage to the engine. The engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

After taking off from a stop sign, i drove up over about 1 1/2 inch vertical rise in the pavement (small bump).the engine and electrical systems shut down. I lost power stirring and power brakes. I got stopped and restarted the engine.this occurred about 3 days after i had taken my car to the gm dealer for repairs coveredby gm recall 14299, "unintended ignition key rotation". My key did not rotate.yesterday april 2, 2015 when driving 45 mph on a state highway, the engine stopped again without hitting any bumps.i was able to coast, put the car in neutral, and restart the engine, before the car behind me could hit me.there was no shoulder to pull off.again there was no key rotation.i called my gm dealer after the first occurrence and was told i would have to pay for a new ignition switch or what ever was causing the problem. The recall only removed all other keys from the ignition key ring.this is a very dangerous defect that gm needs another recall to fix this sudden engine and electrical system shut down because if there is a crash the air bags will not deploy. Also lost of power steering and power brakes makes control of the car very difficult.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac deville. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed to start the vehicle and the key was hard to remove from the ignition. In addition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated upon attempting to start the vehicle, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence where an independent mechanic diagnosed that a security module failed and there was a disconnection of the electrical system. The vehicle was then taken to vinings enterprises inc. (904 n tennessee st, cartersville, ga 30120, (770) 382-2007), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unavailable.

My engine leaks oilfrom the seals. It was always dealer maintained for regular maintenance with low mileage.it started 3 years ago.i noticed you recalled other vehicles for this problem. My engine is a v8. Regular oil changes etc. It continues to leak.dealer wants$2,500 to fix seals.the way i drive it with low millage of 60,000 miles it should not have leaked. Just read about recall of other gm cars on 27 oct. 2015.

2003 cadillac deville dhs*grthe front brake pads, rotors and left front caliper had to be replace. After the consumer picked the vehicle up and started driving, she heard the new brakes grinding.the consumer contacted the dealer again and was told after market parts had been installed on her vehicle.consumer stated she specifically requested original gm parts be put on the vehicle. The dealer also informed the consumer the engine block halves and rear shocks were leaking oil.

While driving vehicle intermittently stalled.consumer took vehicle to dealer, and mechanic could not duplicate or determine the problem.

My 2003 cadillac deville with 7200 miles on the odometer over the past twelve months has experienced intermittent decelerating engine stall.this car is a crash waiting to happen, as it has stalled over 30 times.this car has high rolling resistance, so when it stalls, it comes to a sudden stop.the dealer says he can't duplicate the stall, and there are no computer error codes.i don't know what else to do.get rid of the car?if i don't use the new car warranty, the dealer will replace parts in an attempt to fix the problem.

I have been having problems with this vehicle from day one ifcheckedcadlliac records, it will indicateas a brakes problem. 1 had 4 brake jobs done on the vehicle to find out later that it was not the brake, now they saidit was the wheel beariing, which sound the same as when they told me brakes. Dear sir:i'd like to state that i've been a loyal cadillac owner for many years.after speaking to cadillac customer assistance today regarding an issue that i have with my 2003 cadillac deville.it has become apparently clear that cadillac likes selling high priced luxury vehicles but has no intentions on standing behind the products that they sell.let me ask you this?how does cadillac allow a defective safety part basically to become unavailable for a period of 6 months?i'm referring to the third brake light on cadillac deville model year 2003.here in nh it's a moving violation subject to nh law saf-c 3215.04 to drive such vehicle knowingthat the third brake light does not function.cadillac'sremedy was to order the part (which i did through authorized dealer in manchester nh) and wait until it comes in and in the meantime drive the vehicle knowing that i'm in violation of nh state motor vehicle safety laws.how many violations or accidents could possibly happen because of my faulty equipment during a six month time period.do you know?i certainly don't.however, i do know that i will personally hold general motors responsible for any legal actions taken against me in regards to this matter.and furthermore, just the fact that general motors has allowed asafety partto become unavailable for a period of 6 months on vehicles built over a 5 year period suggests to me that this is an item that should require general motors to issue asafety recall that will be my next step in which i intend on pursuing.needless to say i will never purchase another general motors vehicle.i find you vehicles appealing and comfortable but your loyalty and accommodations to your existing customers is appalling.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac deville.in october of 2008, after being parked for approximately twenty minutes, the vehicle rolled backwards into a parked vehicle.there was no prior warning of brake failure and no injuries.three weeks ago, the vehicle disappeared after being parked for an hour.the contact originally suspected that the vehicle had been stolen.he looked approximately 35 yards down the street and noticed a crowd of people and the police.the vehicle had rolled down the street, but did not strike anything or anyone.the vehicle was taken in for service and the contact was informed that the vehicle had improper spring tension and the parking pawl was not engaging as designed.the vehicle was repaired, but the contact feels that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect and would like assistance.the failure mileage was 39,000. Updated 05/27/09.*ljthe dealer found the paarking pawl was not engaging correctly.the daler replaced the spring and parking pawl. Updated 05/28/09.

The emergency brake pedal does not engage properly when applied.consumer pressed down on the brakes and the pedal went to the floor.consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanicdetermined that the vehicle was operating as designed. .....the brake locks up to the point that it takes pressure from the drive train to release the parking brake. It should release when it is put into reverse. Also, power steering makes a groaning noise when backing up or first starting out.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac deville. The contact indicated that the abs sensor, brake sensor and traction control sensor illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that while reversing out of the driveway, the brakes failed and the pedal sank into the floor. The contact mentioned that the vehicle rolled away in reverse and crashed into a fence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

The service engine light came on in my 2003 v-8 cadillac deville, at 82,000 miles.dealer diagnosed transmission problem; replaced torque converter and reworked lower valve body.dealer charged $2241 for repairs.

Service engine soon light comes on frequently.....i had vehicle checked a several auto shops and received the diagnosis that my torque converter was possibly slipping. I was quoted between $900 to $ 2100 to repair. I stated for this price i could really just buy a remanufactered transmission. This is ridiculous, there has to be a recall message out there to help fellow owners. I have seen this happening to many other owners who in turn refuse to get this service as it can be very costly.

I own a 2003 cadillac deville with 70,700 miles.the "service engine soon" warning light appeared on vehicle control panel february 1, 2007. Local car repair technician identified and cleared warning code.suggested i take to cadillac dealer if the warning light reappeared.warning light came on again wed, february 7, 2007.i made an appointment with repair shop on february 9, 2007.the torque converter, seals, gaskets and valve were replaced and the car was repaired.old part was not given to me.my concern is this same repair has been necessary for two other cadillac deville car owners that i personally know within the past two years.one vehicle had approximately 60,000 miles on it while the other had 150,000. When speaking with the cadillac customer service associate, i was told there was no recall for my vehicle.they were not interested in details of my repair or concern for a possible defect.

In september of 2014, i received a recall from the state of massachusetts about (1) part that must be repaired in my 2003 cadillac deville sedan: (1) ignition switch 14v355000,the only recall showing up on the gm web-site is the ignition switch and the other three and the first are listed here totaling (4) recalls all together!after entering my make, model, year, and vin, of my vehicle i received three more urgent recalls !(2) fuel tank pressure sensor 03v238000, (3) driver air bag 03v051000, and the (4) air bag inflator 02v222000.during a recorded phone conversation an agent and a manager at/from (gm) general motors stated that they do no honor any recalls from safercar.gov/nhtsa or any other web-site as they are "not valid" but their own @gm.com.these are serious recalls that require immediate attention and validation by gm before they are sued for much more than simple repairs!i thank you for your time!blessings!on august 21, 2013, he paid $300 to replace a tie rod. On december 30, 3013, the tie rod broke again.he had to call aaa several times due to electrical failures, which caused the vehicle to stall. Updated 11/26/14

The key locked up all at once and would not allow the vehicle to turn on or off.we had the chevrolet dealer in coolidge, az, (garrett motors) replace the key cylinder.now general motors has sent us a recall request for this part which we took to our local chevrolet dealer in faribault, mn.there we were told to contact cadillac and were given a form to fill out to request reimbursement for this part which we had paid $212.39 for.cadillac is now denying our request saying that the key lock cylinder is not what the problem was since they say it was only the key.at the time, the newly made key was not available to the dealers as it had not even been considered a recall part at that time.this problem happened on 3/22/14 and shortly after in april the media broadcast that the recall process had began on this part . We feel we are entitled to a refund and would appreciate your looking into this on our behalf.

Notified last summer (2014) about recall...in september (2014) notified to schedule an appointmentfor the repair...have calledthe local dealer several times....dealer does not have the necessary materials to correct the problem.have experienced several times the ignition turning off....(the reason for the recall)...fortunately have not had an accident. What is holding up the repairs? why send a letterinstructing us to now get it repaired when the local dealer does not have the materials needed? very frustrating!!!!

Friend was driving my car at the normal speed limit and the car cut off. When the car cut off a car hit her from the side which caused the car to spin out of control and hit another car! the air bags never deployed and she was hurt badly. The key ignition recall for the 2003 cadillac said that it will cause the car key to shift and could cut off while driving. This is a serious matter that needs to be taken care of because her neck and shoulder and foot got injured very badly because the air bags didn't deploy!......updated 01/12/15

2003 cadillac deville dhs, tire pressure monitoring sensor's. Have all failed and have not worked for 4years ( started having problems at 50,00 miles. Cost $450.00 to repair and are not covered by manufacturer.

I see this affects many years and models. Its the security system thinking the car is being tampered with after a new battery is installed. This car wont start as many others. It gets juice to the fuel pump lights and dash. Jumped the fuse to the starter and cae turns over but wont start. Ot will lock you out. No dealers or mechanics know what this problem is. So we have no choice but to junk the car. This is ridiculous. I'm one po'd cadillac owner!!!

I was told by city service queens new york that at long last that the recall part was ready to be installed and when i arrived the next morning appointment i was told that gm did not deliver the part. I'm at an in pass and very annoyed.

Got a flat tire.stopped on a paved street and put tire jack under front right undercarriage as indicated it should be placed.i raised the jack to remove the flat and then had to raise it more to install the temp spare tire.the jack collapsed on the temp spare and the body of the car hit the pavement.i'm fortunate i did not have a foot under the car or that i wasn't putting the temp spare on the wheel when it fell down. The jack has a grove the fit into the car undercarriage and it was installed correctly but the jack collapsed from the weight of the car as i raised the jack.i was about one inch from getting the temp spare on the wheel.i contacted cadillac on chat, ref# 8-4056609660, and requested a free jack replacement.i was told my car was purchased without a jack as jacks were optional equipment and original owner did not purchase one.i find it hard to believe that a 2003 $30,000 plus vehicle was bought with no jack for the temp spare tire.i feel cadillac owes me for a new jack and probably for the damage caused when the car fell and hit the pavement when the jack collapsed. What do you say?did 2003 not require tire jacks with new vehicle purchases?i would have been in real bad shape if the local mayor had not helped me get the car up and the temp spare on. Did i get the cadillac chat bum brushoff?thanks for your help.

Nhtsa campaign number: 14v355000gm is making a half-hearted "repair" by placing an insert into the key.i've four times requested they mail me the inserts.they refuse.i must bring in the car so the dealer can record the vin or they won't get paid.i can't spend 2 hours traveling to a dealership and waiting for the key inserts.it's not a vehicle repair and gm doesn't need my vehicle.just the keys!i have four keys in the hands of different family members.gathering them and making a trip to the dealership is unreasonable.nhtsa should require gm to mail inserts to owners to place into the keys when requested.

Keys have been recalled.nhtsa recall #14v355.key rotation safety recall here.dealers insist that i must bring in the car to get the 20 cent key part, else gm won't pay them.i don't have a spare 2 hours.gm could easily send me new keys or the 20 cent plastic pieces that i could insert myself.dealers i've spoken with say this change in the center of gravity for the key ring isn't a complete solution, just a band-aid that will reduce the incidence.please force gm to send replacement keys or justify the need to force owners to bring in their cars for a 20 cent plastic key modification.
