Purchased vehicle from brother 7 months ago. Airbag warning will not go off.ground wire defect dec. 2014 and dealership repair same. Takata air bag, do not know if that item is in my car but they say it is. Also like so many northstar engines there is trouble with the head gasket, and according to the hydrocarbon block test, mine must be replaced. In order to replace it, the engine and power train must be removed, at my expense. Due to this issue, my car continues to try and overheat after about 29 miles of driving. After listening to those folks on the cadillac forum, i have been lead to believe, the overheating issue may be, partly the fault of the fine thread head bolts and or studs.many mechanics i have spoken with have said that i need a new engine, although the folks on the cadillac fourm have said that time-serts, or the larger studs/bolts might fix the issue.never the less, with each cadillac deville dhs with the northstar engine i read about, the same issue exists for almost all of them, which indicates to me that there was an issue in the original design of possibly not using a large enough bolt/stud to begin with. Either that or cadillac may have had a planned obsolescence type thing to get the drivers to keep replacing their automobiles.and they say recalls are not covering this design flaw....

At around 11:35 am, as i was turning left from prairie street into the far south entrance of krogers' supermarket.the cadillac's engine just stopped running.i was unable to turn the steering wheel fast enough to complete the turn without jumping the curb.after completing the turn, i placed the car into neutral and hit the starter a few times.the engine cranked but failed to start the first few attempts (at least i think). I was about to start my process of exiting the car, when i noticed the tachometer showing 600 rpm.i was really hesitate to drive the vehicle any further, so we proceeded to do our grocery shopping.i removed the ignition key from the car's entry remote and my cluster of personal keys.after stowing the groceries and checking my computer files for the previous reported cadillac's problem concerning onstar disabling it in august 2008.i made some operational checks of the ignition switch.i really have my doubts that the weight on the key would cause such a malfunction, unless the ignition control circuitry is grossly designed.

The total cost was towing 152.00, ignition switch installation 295.65. Due to the recent recall on ignition switches to so many other gm vehicles it seem reasonable to me that it is possible our cadillac could be part of this recall.i would appreciate this notification being included in the recall.

We were able to restart the car and proceed to the dealership where they replaced two sensors under the warranty. On july 28, 2006 with 30,779 miles on the odometer it stalled again at a traffic signal. After trying for sometime the car was restarted and we took it to the dealer where they replaced these same two sensors at a cost of $468.65 to us. I am 82 and my husband is 85 and we feel this is a dangerous situation to be driving and have the car stall in heavy traffic with perhaps an accident as a result. We are almost afraid to drive the car not knowing if this will happen again, especially on a freeway. Our son told us of a friend's father who had this same thing happen to him three times on his cadillac like ours. A 2002 cadillac deville dhs 4-door sedan was originally parked head-first into a parking space.when the driver started the ignition, stepped on the brake and then put the vehicle into the reverse gear "r", slowly and partially releasing the brake, the vehicle moved back normally as expected.after about 15 feet, the driver turned the steering wheel to the right to maneuver the vehicle into position to leave the parking lot.at that moment, the engine unexpectedly revved up, the brakes failed, the vehicle accelerated in the reverse direction, the steering mechanism failed (driver's actions on the steering wheel had no impacts on the actual motions of the front wheels), and a significant "clanking" noise (as if some major components in and around the engine compartment area had been broken) was clearly noticeable.the vehicle came to a stop after scratching the side of another parked 4-door sedan and subsequently hitting a sign post about 35 feet from its original position.the vehicle could be seen with its engine compartment lowered and the fenders "rested" on and touching the front wheels, as if the front axle had broken.loose bearings / nuts could be found in the vicinity of the vehicle.the vehicle became inoperable.

The factory supplied car 'scissor' jack structurally failed while the right front of the car was being lifted.the car was stationary and was being lifted on a garage floor.the failure resulted in the car falling off the jack subsequent to the tire being removed.no bodily injury was sustained from the failure but there was damage to the body of the car, most visibly with the right front fender being offset about an eighth to a quarter inch away from the car's frame.

Legacy ford in lagrande, oregon has told us it is an internal problem and they will have to put their diagnostic machine on it. We have already paid them 179.36 for labor, gasket and cleaner. They had told us to bring the car to them if it happened when we were in town so they could test it further. Last week i was in town and it happened so i took it to them. Three of the four window regulators have broken and after repairing, within a year two of the windows regulators have broken again.this is an obvious manufacture defect that can cause a sudden distraction to the driver.in one situation, the window fell into the door while in a rain storm.this caused a sudden distraction to the road. I strayed out of my lane because of the sudden breaking of the regulator.second time occurred when i was at a grocery store.i came out to find the rear window down which could have allowed someone into the car and rob or even worse.i have not seen this problem in any other car but the cadillac deville's.in speaking with other cadillac owner's just about every single one of them reported the same issue. I think the government should be looking into the issue.

I am the second owner of this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle directly from my local cadillac dealership where the first owner purchased the vehicle. I was told that the vehicle had a clean service history and that it was thoroughly looked over. Within the one and a half years i own the vehicle i replaced both front wheel bearings, and have had three window regulators replaced. I contacted cadillac corporate and was told i would have to pay a diagnostic fee to the dealership to find out if the windows are defective. After seeing at least six complaints registered with the ntsb and finding out that the dealers in my immediate area keep the window regulators routinely stocked tells me that there is in fact a defect. Why a diagnostic fee and why not an honest attempt to remedy the defect with the customers that have remained loyal to gm over the years? i'm sorry but this type of treatment will make me think twice about what brand of vehicles my family & i purchase in the future.
Takata recall: driver's side rear view mirror lost it's reflection. The mirror started turning a dark brownish color then started losing its reflection from the top of the mirror to the bottom. There is no visibility at all in the mirror.

I don't suspect that this defect is safety-related so much as just a defect, but the window regulators have broken on 3 of the windows in my cadillac in the last 5 months, causing all 3 windows to be stuck in the down position.the repair guy says he is repairing a lot of regulators in a lot of different cars because they are cheaply designed.

The windshield of the vehicle is severely distorted. I have been having severe headaches and medical problems due to this windshield. It has affected my health. I have been seen by numerous doctors in various fields. The distortion in this windshield has caused poor visibility and unsafe driving conditions.

1.(a) my cadillac(dhs-2002) operates in a dangerous and defective manner that could cause accidents.i have had the vehicle serviced no less than 16 times to fix equipment failures, including those which could be major safety issues, to no avail.(b) the airbag warning light has come on two separate occasions, though the bag never deployed.(c)the vehicle suddenly stalled when making turns.2.(a) my vehicle contains "automatic rain sensors" for its windshield wipers.the wipers come on violently (highest level), even when not turned on, and though it is not raining.the danger is sudden distraction, which could easily cause an accident when merging with traffic and in other dangerous driving situations.they also come on suddenly when passing radio towers.the date set forth below is the first incident; it continues to happen.(b)the airbag warning light creates fear in the driver, as we are unsure as to if and when the airbag will deploy.if it where to deploy erroneously while we were driving, the results could be catastrophic.(c)on two occasions, while making turns in traffic, the vehicle stalled, which could have led to a serious accident.3. The contact properlyinflated the rear driver side tire and within one week, the tire was deflated to 12 pounds.the vehicle was taken to an independent tire center where the technician informed him that the failure was contributed to the chrome wheel. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 95,380.
