Well i notice that some time the key works and some time it dont. The seat belt get stuck some time and i just foynd out the car had recalls

Upon start up 2002 deville computer check of the air bag system does not clear.

Takata air bag, do not know if that item is in my car but they say it is. Also like so many northstar engines there is trouble with the head gasket, and according to the hydrocarbon block test, mine must be replaced. In order to replace it, the engine and power train must be removed, at my expense. Due to this issue, my car continues to try and overheat after about 29 miles of driving. After listening to those folks on the cadillac forum, i have been lead to believe, the overheating issue may be, partly the fault of the fine thread head bolts and or studs.many mechanics i have spoken with have said that i need a new engine, although the folks on the cadillac fourm have said that time-serts, or the larger studs/bolts might fix the issue.never the less, with each cadillac deville dhs with the northstar engine i read about, the same issue exists for almost all of them, which indicates to me that there was an issue in the original design of possibly not using a large enough bolt/stud to begin with. Either that or cadillac may have had a planned obsolescence type thing to get the drivers to keep replacing their automobiles.and they say recalls are not covering this design flaw....

At around 11:35 am, as i was turning left from prairie street into the far south entrance of krogers' supermarket.the cadillac's engine just stopped running.i was unable to turn the steering wheel fast enough to complete the turn without jumping the curb.after completing the turn, i placed the car into neutral and hit the starter a few times.the engine cranked but failed to start the first few attempts (at least i think). I was about to start my process of exiting the car, when i noticed the tachometer showing 600 rpm.i was really hesitate to drive the vehicle any further, so we proceeded to do our grocery shopping.i removed the ignition key from the car's entry remote and my cluster of personal keys.after stowing the groceries and checking my computer files for the previous reported cadillac's problem concerning onstar disabling it in august 2008.i made some operational checks of the ignition switch.i really have my doubts that the weight on the key would cause such a malfunction, unless the ignition control circuitry is grossly designed.

The car would die out, and you have no power anything. Put it in neutral and you could restart it.solution was to replace two sensors that cost about $400.this also happened on a 2001 cadillac deville, i had in 2012, and had to replace sensors. About $400. Again. All repairs were done a chevy dealer dekalb/sycamore chevy.this a similar problem to the keys in the ignition. The car engine just dieand no power anything.the repairs are in the dealer records. I would like my money back.

While driving on a village street, the engine just stops. It has done this three or four times. I had my mechanic check the car diagnostic computer. It showed no faults.glad it happens at 20mph in town, and not at 70 while on the highway.at least at low speed, i can wrestle the car to the shoulder!

Engine leaks oil profusely from all over (especially oil pan gasket) and the oil falls onto the exhaust system and causes fire hazard and smoke and therefore polluting the environment.

My husband and i purchased a 2002 cadillac deville october 14, 2001. On april 25, 2003 with 11,059 miles on the odometer the car stalled while driving and we were able to pull over to the curb to allow the traffic to go by. We were able to restart the car and proceed to the dealership where they replaced two sensors under the warranty. On july 28, 2006 with 30,779 miles on the odometer it stalled again at a traffic signal. After trying for sometime the car was restarted and we took it to the dealer where they replaced these same two sensors at a cost of $468.65 to us. I am 82 and my husband is 85 and we feel this is a dangerous situation to be driving and have the car stall in heavy traffic with perhaps an accident as a result. We are almost afraid to drive the car not knowing if this will happen again, especially on a freeway. Our son told us of a friend's father who had this same thing happen to him three times on his cadillac like ours. We wonder if this is a defect that should be looked at on all of this model and year of cadillac.

Front wheel bearings have dangerously failed prematurely two times in 113,000 miles. Failed dangerously at 60,000 and 113000 miles. This resulted in front wheel shimmy (shaking steering wheel excessively) at high speeds and at all times when braking. Felt like i was loosing brakes when braking down a hill. Seems to me that this is a common problem on gm cars that use the cartridge type of wheel hub bearing assemblies as indicated by numerous post on the internet and my personal experience as an auto mechanic.

The headlights and steering did not work properly.

Im desperate. On four occasions the car cuts out.this morning doing 35mpg the car went dead.no steering---really scary. This is the fifth time this has happened.cad. Admits the problem but does not have the part. They refuse to give me any alternative.please please see if you can do anything to resolve this very serious problem this is my second attempt to express my concerns.

When car is jacked up wheel rocked back and forth about 2 inches. Seems to me that this is a common problem on gm cars that use the cartridge type of wheel hub bearing assemblies as indicated by numerous post on the internet and my personal experience as an auto mechanic.

The contact owns a 2002 cadillac deville. While driving approximately 65 mph, the engine stalled, the brakes seized, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The air bag and engine lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the key cylinder was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 202,000.

I was going to drop off some trash bags in dumpster around the block from my house.and was parked next to it at aptments street.i put the car in park turned off engine and removed the keys popped the trunk removed trash bags closed trunk and got back in driver seat placed key in just as always real easy going and tried to turn it for hour in hot sun then walked home called tow truck were we brought it home were i live my house and cost $164.00 dollars and is in same condition as of now.

Problems with cruise control and air bag light.*mrthe cruise control light on the steering wheel remained lit, often for several days.the air bag light illuminates intermittently but the dealer indicated that nothing could be done unless the light was on when the vehicle was bought to the dealer.the power steering pump has been replaced, the engine block cracked.the driver's seat failed.

While in motion, the right rear tire blew a two and a half inch hole in the side wall.*jg(michelin michelin semmetry p225/60 r16)

Tire pressure sensor readout display reversed for left side.lf tire pressure showed as lr and vice versa (confirmed next day with gauge).sensor reported 40 lbs in lr (we had added no air, but car had been released from service that morning).caused me to release air from wrong tire and then add air to wrong tire.erroneous readout first appeared at 2:30am with no gas station available with readable tire gauge.serious hazard for blow-out/early tire failure.

The right rear tire blew out.

The right rear tire became flat, and the entire rim split.

Erroneous and inaccurate tire pressure display, caused improper tire inflation.

Tire monitor reporting erroneous & inaccurate readings.took the car in for service to rotate tires.drove home on the way tire monitor flashes "service tire monitor".checked with dealer car not covered by warranty nothing done.inaccurate tire pressure readings caused overfill on the wrong tire and a good reading on a tire that was low.

My car was parked in my garage when the horn sounded extremely loud and would not stop i could not stop it so i took it to shop.the dealer says that airbagshorted out and shorted outthe horn. They want to replace airbag and horn at a cost of $1109was this airbagrecalled?

The factory supplied car 'scissor' jack structurally failed while the right front of the car was being lifted.the car was stationary and was being lifted on a garage floor.the failure resulted in the car falling off the jack subsequent to the tire being removed.no bodily injury was sustained from the failure but there was damage to the body of the car, most visibly with the right front fender being offset about an eighth to a quarter inch away from the car's frame.

The dash lights are only readable at night or during a heavily overcast day when headlights are not required. The vehicle came equipped with smoke plastic covers that covered the dashboard panel.

The (tpm) system indicates 4 pounds different from gauge reading.the dealer confirmed the discrepancy.this could become a safety hazard due to improper pressure being maintained in the tires. This is somewhat similar to theford / firestone controversy. A defective indication can be dangerous.

The car started accelerating, on its own, up to 40 mph from a stop sign or red light. The gas pedal was not stuck. Legacy ford in lagrande, oregon has told us it is an internal problem and they will have to put their diagnostic machine on it. We have already paid them 179.36 for labor, gasket and cleaner. They had told us to bring the car to them if it happened when we were in town so they could test it further. Last week i was in town and it happened so i took it to them. They couldn't diagnose the problem at the time so that is why they need to use the diagnostic machine.i tried to report this to cadillac but they weren't interested in my problem.

Accelerator on car was stuck at high rpm.hitting the gas pedal resulted in it being stuck at a higher rpm rate.turned off the car and restarted.problem still existed.extremely dangerous situation.dealer replaced defective idle air control value.*la

A 2002 cadillac deville dhs 4-door sedan was originally parked head-first into a parking space.when the driver started the ignition, stepped on the brake and then put the vehicle into the reverse gear "r", slowly and partially releasing the brake, the vehicle moved back normally as expected.after about 15 feet, the driver turned the steering wheel to the right to maneuver the vehicle into position to leave the parking lot.at that moment, the engine unexpectedly revved up, the brakes failed, the vehicle accelerated in the reverse direction, the steering mechanism failed (driver's actions on the steering wheel had no impacts on the actual motions of the front wheels), and a significant "clanking" noise (as if some major components in and around the engine compartment area had been broken) was clearly noticeable.the vehicle came to a stop after scratching the side of another parked 4-door sedan and subsequently hitting a sign post about 35 feet from its original position.the vehicle could be seen with its engine compartment lowered and the fenders "rested" on and touching the front wheels, as if the front axle had broken.loose bearings / nuts could be found in the vicinity of the vehicle.the vehicle became inoperable.

While driving 30 mph, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably.the consumerapplied the brakepedal and the vehicle continued to accelerate.the consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. Please provide further details.

2002 cadillac deville, driving in cruise control at highway speeds. I touched the brake to slow for traffic. When i put the cruise control in "resume" the throttle stuck completely open. I was not able to control the car, other than (eventually) turn off the ignition.

The consumer pressed the accelerator pedal and it became stuck.after the consumer turned the heat on the accelerator pedal released.the manufacturer and dealer are aware of the problem.

While approaching a traffic light driver applied brake pedal andthe car continued to accelerate gaining speed. Driver attempted to slow or stop but car accelrated even more. Over a three block stretch two vechiles were hit before car went into aditch laying on its side. Car a total loss.

While coming to a stop, the cruise control would not disengage. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.

2002 cadillac deville - throttle stuck full open - traveling at highway speeds in cruise. Touched the brake to allow for traffic. Then touched "resume" on the cruise control; throttle opened fully and stuck there. The only way to stop was to turn off the ignition, which i did. Then had no power steering or power brakes, while still in traffic.

Three of the four window regulators have broken and after repairing, within a year two of the windows regulators have broken again.this is an obvious manufacture defect that can cause a sudden distraction to the driver.in one situation, the window fell into the door while in a rain storm.this caused a sudden distraction to the road. I strayed out of my lane because of the sudden breaking of the regulator.second time occurred when i was at a grocery store.i came out to find the rear window down which could have allowed someone into the car and rob or even worse.i have not seen this problem in any other car but the cadillac deville's.in speaking with other cadillac owner's just about every single one of them reported the same issue. I think the government should be looking into the issue.

The contact owns a 2002 cadillac deville. The contact stated that as the front driver side window was engaged, the window opened with a loud pop. The window then abnormally fell into the door panel.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was told that the window regulator failed. The vehicle was repaired yet the failure recurred on the rear driver and front passenger side windows. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.

I am the second owner of this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle directly from my local cadillac dealership where the first owner purchased the vehicle. I was told that the vehicle had a clean service history and that it was thoroughly looked over. Within the one and a half years i own the vehicle i replaced both front wheel bearings, and have had three window regulators replaced. I contacted cadillac corporate and was told i would have to pay a diagnostic fee to the dealership to find out if the windows are defective. After seeing at least six complaints registered with the ntsb and finding out that the dealers in my immediate area keep the window regulators routinely stocked tells me that there is in fact a defect. Why a diagnostic fee and why not an honest attempt to remedy the defect with the customers that have remained loyal to gm over the years? i'm sorry but this type of treatment will make me think twice about what brand of vehicles my family & i purchase in the future.

Takata recall: driver's side rear view mirror lost it's reflection. The mirror started turning a dark brownish color then started losing its reflection from the top of the mirror to the bottom. There is no visibility at all in the mirror.

I have had to replace 2 of my window regulators in the past month.now that the regulator and motor are one part, this is a fairly pricey repair.the noise is very scary when the regulator goes and can definitely cause an accident.

Consumers wife entered the vehicle.the seats, mirror and steering are supposed to respond to her key fab as programmed, but it did not.trying to attempt it manually did not work either.the vehicle was taken to the service dept. Who found a module under the drivers seat had shorted out and blew a fuse.*jg

I don't suspect that this defect is safety-related so much as just a defect, but the window regulators have broken on 3 of the windows in my cadillac in the last 5 months, causing all 3 windows to be stuck in the down position.the repair guy says he is repairing a lot of regulators in a lot of different cars because they are cheaply designed.

I had 3 windows on my 2002 cadillacthat the arm inside the window has broken and the window fall down and you cannot get it back upgeneral motor has a problem with as the dealer told me he had others with same problem and he quoted repair cost with out looking up the cost.

I have replaced all 4 window regulators on the car.they fail and the window falls down!when this happens it is very loud and distracting. In a driving rain it almost led to an accident! the car has 56,000 mile on it.

I have replaced 2 regulators in the last 9 months ( 5/18/06 & 12/18/06).while driving there was a very loud noise and the window dropped into the door panel.i had the regulators replaced at a cost of $350 each.

Consumer complaining about the design of the accelerator pedal being close to the brake pedal.mrthe consumer states that it causes additional seconds to get his foot on the brake pedal from the accelerator pedal.the consumer also states that the same maneuver happens when his right foot hits the end of the side vertical panel.scc when looking in the rear view mirror, consumer can only see one quarter of the bottom horizontal view.on a sunny day, the illuminated numbers on the dash are not visible and requires repeated glances to obtain an accurate reading.the passenger door handle is difficult to reach for closing once it has been opened.*jg

1.(a) my cadillac(dhs-2002) operates in a dangerous and defective manner that could cause accidents.i have had the vehicle serviced no less than 16 times to fix equipment failures, including those which could be major safety issues, to no avail.(b) the airbag warning light has come on two separate occasions, though the bag never deployed.(c)the vehicle suddenly stalled when making turns.2.(a) my vehicle contains "automatic rain sensors" for its windshield wipers.the wipers come on violently (highest level), even when not turned on, and though it is not raining.the danger is sudden distraction, which could easily cause an accident when merging with traffic and in other dangerous driving situations.they also come on suddenly when passing radio towers.the date set forth below is the first incident; it continues to happen.(b)the airbag warning light creates fear in the driver, as we are unsure as to if and when the airbag will deploy.if it where to deploy erroneously while we were driving, the results could be catastrophic.(c)on two occasions, while making turns in traffic, the vehicle stalled, which could have led to a serious accident.3. (a)i have returned the vehicle to my dealer for service on numerous occasions.no parts have been replaced, nor has any repair been effected.it appears that this is a systemic issue, and i suspect that it affects all cadillacs similarly equipped.(b)the airbags where replaced on two occasions which has, as least temporarily, solved the problem.(c)on two occasions, sensors were replaced which where allegedly the cause of the problem (last time this occurred was 5/25/05)the foregoing represent critical electronic system failures that could result in fatal accidents.the inability of gm to resolve the automatic wiper issue, together with multiple repairs of other sensors that caused major system failures requires investigation into the safety of this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 cadillac deville. The contact properlyinflated the rear driver side tire and within one week, the tire was deflated to 12 pounds.the vehicle was taken to an independent tire center where the technician informed him that the failure was contributed to the chrome wheel. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 95,380.

Driving on 85 and ran into two big potholes. Have pictures also.
