Was involved in a front end crash going 48mph and the drivers side air bag or any other air did not deploy. There was so much damage to the front end that the car was totaled a complete loss. I would like car to be inspected for faulty air bags and also front end for faulty equipment as did not hold up well with crash. This vehicle only had 78,000 miles and was in perfect condition prior to crash. I was told there was a recall on the airbags and with that much damage and speed they should of been deployed this is a major safety violation. I was driving east bound at 48 mph car in front slammed on brakes i tried to avoid them and went to the right but there was a pole and another truck so i pulled back to left and it the car in the rear. At no time did the air bags deploy i would like an investigation started prior to car being totaled and removed by insurance company.

$3440.72 of repairs from jan 05 to aug 06, includes air bags, computer problems, electric windows, air conditioner, fuel pump, water pump, electric seat heater, etc. On a 2001 cadillac dts with 60038 miles. All fixed by dealer and extended warranty. We paid #50.00 deductible for each trip to service dept. 8 times since jan 05. The complaint is regarding the number of times we have been without a vehicle and the numerous repairs on a car that is suppose to be well made, and of course is very expensive. We are selling this vehicle because it is not reliable and will have to withdraw several thousand dollars to make up the difference of the sale value and what we owe. We would be keeping the car until paid for if there had not been so many problems. This car is kept in a garage at all times, and we have it serviced every 3000 miles and have done this since we bought the car in dec 2003. Please contact us regarding any additional information needed. Thank you.

My wife had an accident a few years ago and the air bags did not deploy. We were told that the air bag did not deploy because it was not a direct frontal collision. Car keeps stalling out (at light, while driving, etc) with the cause apparently attributed to a faulty ignition switch. I had the ignition switch replaced (for a charge of $496) at midway cadillac in pokomoke md (after having car towed there on feb 14, 2014, because at that time, had difficulty even getting the key in the ignition switch). The problem i was having with it stalling out persists, even after the new ignition switch.writing because the ignition-switch-related problems i am having appear to be the same or similar to other gm cars which are currently being recalled due to ignition switch problems. Please include the cadillac deville 2001 into your investigation regarding faulty ignition switches of gm-made cars.

Positive terminal on the battery fell off the battery, causing the battery to leak, and burn a hole in the base of the battery compartment inside the vehicle under the back seat.currently, vehicle has no electrical power. *tc

My car failed to start. On checking battery, located under rear passenger seat, i discovered the battery was badly corroded. The battery sits directly on the floor pan beneath passenger seat. On removing the battery i discovered the corrosion had eaten through the floor resulting in a hole one inch in diameter. I had the floor pan repaired and had rinocoat sprayed on to prevent future problems. I feel gm should put a plastic tray under the battery to prevent this problem.

Engine overheated and was taken to dealership. They are saying that the cause of this is the bolts holding the engine block together got loose, and this is a common problem with this engines. The cost of repair will be more than $4000 . The extended warranty will not covered this because they said is a manufacturer defect. I check on line and a lot of people are having the same problem,. ( it will also use an extra qt of oil between oil changes.) every says this is normal for this engines. So my question is:if every body knows about the problems with the north star engine, why is it that cadillac is not forced to recall all this cars and pay for their defective engine repairs????????

Dt: the consumer stated 2001 cadillac deville was stalling and jumping. This is happening intermittently. The consumer has taken the car to the dealership for repairs 4 times. I have a 2001 cadillac dts the engine take excessive amounts of oil and a coolant absorption that cause overheating and constant engine work. I was told at the cadillac dealership this is a common problem with the cadillac north star engine. The engine shuts offs when the car runs hot and my safety was in jeopardy due to this known failure. Gm should fix these known safety issues with cars with this issue at no cost to the customer. These issues normally range from $1000-$4000 to repair.

I have a 2001 cadillac deville with a 4.6(y) motor while i love the car the motor is the pits it is very costly using over 1qt between oil changes and now i have a misfire and lost of coolant and was told that my head gasket had blown and my crankcase halves are leaking and i was told to fix itwould be a new engine at the cost of $8k so i guess i will have to deal with the random misfire because i cant afford to fix it you would think since cadillac is gm's luxury brand they wouldn't have the customers deal with this sloppy engine also i have had the oil drip on the exhaust and start a small fire so now i will have to try and baby this thing.

Dt*: the contact stated while navigating slowly through a parking lotthe vehicle lostpower.after multiple attempts the vehicle was restarted.when the vehicle was restarted the battery warning light came on and went back.the vehicle was driven directly to the dealership.they were unable to identify the cause of the problem through the vehicle's built in diagnostic system.

2001 cadillac deville.intermittently won't start.all lights in car come on, so there is electrical power. I have been having this problem for 2 years...i am now on my 3rd dealer/service.problem never shows up on diagnostics...they have been able to duplicate a few times....still unable to fix. Pcm has been replaced 2 times. I am very frustrated....please help....the service departments also do not know what to do...

The contact owns a 2001 cadillac deville.the key would turn, but the vehicle would start intermittently.there were no warning indicators present.the dealer stated that the key needed to be replaced and the failure continued after the repair was made.while driving between 5-35 mph, the vehicle stalled.the service engine warning indicator light illuminated and there was a loss of power brakes and steering.the gear was shifted into neutral and the vehicle restarted.the dealer made repairs, but the type of repairs were unknown.the failure persists.the failure mileage was 88,000 and current mileage was 94,000.

While traveling at 30 mphvehicleshut down. Engine checklight cameon and off.dealer stated crank shaft sensor needed to be replaced.

Service engine light comes on and vehicle engine will unexpectedly die leaving you with no power assist on brakes or steering, a very dangerous situation. Dealer has replaced engine crankshaft sensor the third time now. The enginedied unexpectedly numerous times, and the engine crankshaft sensor has been replaced three times in 52,000 miles. Dealer says cadillac will not pay for replacement even though they are aware of the problem and sensor had been replaced twice previously. We are extremely lucky these incidents did not cause a major crash.

My 2001 cadillac deville uses 2 quarts of oil ever 1300 miles. This is excessive oil consumption for a vehicle under 50,000. I have reported this to gm and my local dealer. They say that this is normal. Ireported this over a year ago! i was having a oil consumption test, but now they can not find the records.

While driving at highway speedengine shut down, causing anaccident. Please provide any additional information.

While driving the vehicle would stall without warning.after the vehicle stalled it would start back up immediately. *nlm

During routine service the mechanic discovered that the mid engine gasket was leaking.this is a 2001 deville with the northstar engine and only 48,000 miles on the odometer.i have done some research and know that this is an ongoing issue with that engine.i was also informed that it could cause a fire.in order to correct this , i must pay the dealer $2,000.00 as they have to tear the whole front end of the car apart to get to the problem area.this is an issue which should encourage a recall.

While driving vehicle intermittently stalled without warning. Dealer informed consumer that it can be fixed, but did not specify what repairs would be done.

Excessive oil consumption, 1 quart of oil every 800 miles. Cadillac appears to be well aware that this problem exists with some north star engines, (based on specific oil consumption procedures dictated to their dealerships, i.e.ring flushing, ring replacement with special rings, etc), but fails to inform the consumer of this potential problem when purchasing a new vehicle.

Dt:2001 cadillac deville.the consumer states the vehicle will die suddenly. The vehicle will start up after this happens without having to wait.thishappened three times, and it started right after purchase of vehicle onmay 30, 2002.the vehicle was towed to the dealershipthree times.the consumer did not feel safe driving the vehicle.they kept changing the crank shaft position sensor.the vehicle was towed the second time may 28, 2004, and the third time, march 28, 2005.the speed does not matter when this occurs.

Without warning vehicle stalled on interstate.was able to pull over and restart engine.this happened on several occasions.mechanic replaced plastic intake manifold that melted.

Brakes have failed, and vehicledied on inmiddle of the highway.vehiclehas been in repair shop for 43 times. Also, headlights dim for no reason.

While in motion, the service lights illuminated.the engine seemed to bog down, lose power and jerk.consumer took vehicle to dealer and was informed a new engine was needed. *jg

2001 cadillac de ville was built with defective engine parts (crank sensor) that cause it to stall without warning...in my car, cadillac has replaced this same part twice with the full knowledge that the original and the replacement parts were defective.yet, cadillac refuses to initiate a recall...this is unacceptable, because of the risk for accident and fatalities....when the engine stalls it is nearly impossible to quickly steer or safely stop the vehicle.i respectfully request for the nhtsa to require cadillac to recall every vehicle with this problem.i also feel cadillac should be required to design a backup system for future engines that would keep the engine ruinning if the "crank sensor" would fail.looking forward to your response.

When i purchased my cadillac, it had 22,000 miles on it.there was a "bumping" in the steering when i turned at slow speeds.i complained about it on several occasions. 1. The dealer repaired a broken motor mount, didn't fix it.2. The dealer changed the rack & pinion, didn't fix it.3. The dealer changed the tie rod ends, didn't fix it.4. An independent mechanic tightened up loose bolts in the front end, didn't fix it. 5. Finally, i took it to another dealer who told me that the steering column would have to be changed and would cost about $1,300.when i objected, because i still am not sure if they can fix the problem, they told me that it might lock up.well, i feel like that since the problem has been there since i bought the car, and they have tried unsuccessfully many times to fix it, they should fix it free.of course they don't think so.

While driving power steering was chattering.took vehicle to dealer, and they were aware, but have not found asolution.

When i entered the car one day the dashboard had fallen without me knowing what had happened. I asked around to see if it was a way to fix it or if they had known anyone with the same problem. I use my vehicle to get back and forth to work and it's the only car i have but the condition of the car is getting worse and the dashboard is coming apart more.

Sunvisor blocks my view out the front window. It is an assembly with two visors. The small visor interferes with the main visor. I can not see a traffic signal with the sun visor down. It is fine for short people, but not for me.dt

Significant sidewall failure at 70mph. Cadillac onstar directed us to sears in columbia tn, which replaced tire with no charge. On inspection, the no steel wires were found in the sidewall, even though specs call for them ("sb-r"). Am very concerned about the safety of the remaining 3 tires, as well as the one new one.i took digital close-up pictures of tire, and can forward them by e-mail. Michelin had no recommendations, other than to say they would call me if they got the tire in for quality analysis. What should i do ? (tiresize: p225/60r-1)

Thank you.

Dt*:the contact stated while traveling 55 mph, the vehicle began to accelerate and would not stop.the contact continued to attempt to apply brake pressure.the transmission was put in neutral then into park and the vehicle stopped.the vehicle was towed to the dealership who determined that idle air control module was sticking in the high position.also, the force in which the vehicle was put into park caused the motor mounts to fracture.the idle air control module and motor mounts were replaced.

Consumer states there is a clicking sound when operating driver side window. Dealer could not duplicate consumer's concern.

Electric window mechanisms breaking.yesterday when the window was operated to close it, there was a loud cracking noise when it reached the top, the next day when the window was lowered, it made a grinding noise and then the window fell to the bottom and would not operate again.this was the driver's window.on june 14, we had the same thing happen but to the front passenger window.the cadillac dealer charged us $640.00 to replace a window regulator.it seems something is very defective if 2 of them break within a month.
