Air bag warning light comes on. After doing some research on the internet it seems to be related to a wiring problem underneath the driver's seat. I confirmed this by moving the seat which causes the light to come on or go out. Since this is a safety related problem which might inactivate the air bags, i believe that this should be handled by a recall notice by gm and the burden to repair the loose wire connection should fall upon gm. My complaint is about the remedy for recall #14v355.the july 2, 2014 letter to [xxx] re:nhtsa notification campaign no. 14v-355 from [xxx] , gm, states on page 3 that "the torque performance of the ignition system may be insufficient to resist energy generated when the vehicle goes off road or experiences some other jarring event". This is the same ignition switch that gm hid from the public for years which resulted in 196 claims for death, 116 catastrophic injuries and 1,460 other injuries. Instead of replacing the faulty ignition switch for the recall, your organization is allowing gm to block the key from being placed on a key ring with house keys, the remote fob that comes with the vehicle to operate door locks, seat positioning, trunk release and panic alarm. And the gm provided cadillac medallion that is used to return the key to me if it becomes lost. Most people need to keep house keys on the car key ring, and the fob is integral to using the vehicle. The recall fix being allowed by your agency is dangerous and wrong. Subsequent owners of the vehicles will not know about the recall and pop the little piece of plastic out of the key hole and attach all of their keys on one key ring. For current owners, this takes away one ofthe functions of the vehicle, the fob usage and makes life more difficult having to keep track of a single car key and their key ring with essential keys on it. According to the washington post, gm knew about the defect and changed the ignition switch part in newer vehicles using the same part number to avoid a recall as people were injured and died. Gm's fix leaves my car with its defective ignition switch which is still subject to catastrophic failure. Who are you protecting? gm? not me and i am terrified. 2000 cadillac dts deville touring sedan.diamond white with toupe.within six months of ownership my car was in the dealer more than me driving.half the valves were replaced on a new car.i filed under the lemon law.was told on my 24,000 mile car that under indiana law i could get a replacement.no one informed me about a runaway problem or a defective motor.my car on the expressway took off on its own as if someone had turned the cruise control on.i only know what it felt like.i remember checking the gas pedal with my foot and could tell it was down as if stuck lower in a depressed position.i tried to move it back up and it came but fell back as if stuck there.i then panicked as i was in chicagoland express and found a long off ramp to go off the expressway.as my car kept going i stood on the brake with two hundred pounds and could feel the anti lock brake take over.i also down shifted the system is speed blocked and would only go into second.the car went on a curve before leaving the highway off ramp.it hit an embankment, tore off the oil pan and trans cover, and flattened all tiers as it went up and over two lanes and a median before resting in the northbound lane direction when i exited south.my byback from the better business bureau came two days later informing me that the engine in their opinion was defective.no one bothered to tell me how bad that car was from a mechanical prospective until i almost died.they ordered gm to buy it back.however my brand new car was totaled by the insurance for under body damage.there wasn't a dent on the metal above. The insurance took the buyback order from the bbb. I never heard a word about it after that.

I was driving down a city street at about 35 mph when all of the power to the car went dead. I have taken the car to several shops but they have never been able to locate the problem. I called a cadillac dealer today because i have seen year 2000 cadillac deville is included in a recall, the dealer said my vin number is not included in the recall list. I am filing this report to make it known my make, model and year cadillac has the same problem cars that are included in the recalls have.

2000 cadillac deville dts has the vehicle battery under the rear passenger seat.i was replacing the factory battery in august 2006 after purchasing the vehicle from a private party.there was powdered acid accumulated under and around the battery, near the positive terminal.the battery acid has corroded the metal of the car body, resulting in a through and through hole in the car.i will have this repaired by a body shop.i have been told by another cadillac deville owner, 2001 model, that this is a common problem.i am concerned that any further corrosion could cause catastrophic failure of the car body supporting the battery.the car battery would then fall onto the roadway, possibly presenting a serious hazard to other drivers.

Date of pickup of car serice anti-system can on systems would not work, came back for car next day drove car a few days, car sat for 4 days went to drive car, it was completly dead, had to be towed to dealership.replaced battery 2 times now after happening serval times, also replaced 2 modules. This car has been in 5 times + 1 time again could not pick up because it acted up again, after service thought it was fixed. Now the security light has gone on again, and stayed on for 1hr till i reached my destination. This light would alway come on and stay on with the service anti- theft reading at the previous times. He burned his sinuses when removing the battery.the fumes caused the contact'swife skin to dry out and flake off from her neck to feet.the manufacturer offered to repair the hole after he paid for an evaluation.the contact repaired the hole himself.he went to the service department to purchase a new battery, but they would no install it because the batterywas located in the passenger's compartment.updated 12/27/2005.

Battery was located under the rear seats towards the center. The positive terminal fell off and allowed acid to drip under the seat.passengers were exposed to the smell of acid reaction, fumes, and eyes burning.

Horn does not activate freely. Consumer has to depress it very hard, in a very small area, which makes it impossible to depress in an emergency. Manufacturer has been contacted about this design at least 12 times.

Eventually, a pressure test and camera insert by my mechanic confirmed a blown head gasket. Confirmed that result with pepe cadillac in white plains, ny.checked the price to have the head gaskets replaced, but since this engine has to be removed from the bottom of the vehicle, the costs are outrageous and the only acceptable fix for these aluminum heads are bolts rather than the gm serts. Bad engine design by gm since their bolts were too short and the bite was not large enough in the block to prevent the head gaskets from blowing.sad epitaph for a car with only 65k lightly driven miles on it having spent all of it's off road life in our garage. After much research, i was able to confirm that this is an inherent problem with the northstar engine during that period and was finally solved after 2004. Normally, i idle in my car into the drive way, this time it was much faster and the engine was very accelerated.i parked the vehicle and the engine was accelerated up to 1850rpm.i pressed the gas pedal to free up the throttle, it made is worst.the vehicle rpm increased up to 2835 rpm and stayed stuck at 2835 rpm.after 10 to 15 seconds the rpm slowly dropped down to 1500 rpm and stayed at these revolution.i had to turn off the vehicle. It's normal idle rpm are 675-700rpm. This is a safety hazard for some one that does not know what to do when driving at a busy highway or regular city streets.

When cold, upon starting engine and shifting into either reverse or drive, the carabruptly jolts and vibrates. Problem originally would occur when car was cold and gas tank was less than half full.as the weeks/milespassed, the jolt problem began to occur more frequently, regardless of the amount of gas in the tank. Initially, jolt problem only occurred when car was cold.however, jolt problem now occurs on all startups, regardless of a cold or warm start. Car was taken to dealership early on, when problem was more prevalent with cold starts only.dealership contactedcadillac and reported the problem.car owner was advised that a "technical fix was in the works" for the pcm module (the apparent culprit was related to emissions), promised available in 60-90 days.after 90 days, car was again taken to dealership for the same jolt problem, only now it occurs all the time. Dealership contends there is no fix, because the jolt is not a problem, but a feature - that one must wait 45-60 seconds after starting engine to put the car in gear, so that the car has a chance to warm up.this is not the solution, as the problem occurs when the car is warm as well.major concern is that the jolt problem has gradually worsened over time/miles, and owner is unsure of the detrimental effect the jolt has on the engine or transmission.found a comparable customer complaint at nhtsa website regarding sudden acceleration (jolt) and the need to warm up for at least 30 seconds, whichappears to corroboratethat a known problem exists.

I was preparing to make a 270 degree left turn and i was attempting to turn the wheel and the steering wheel kept spinning while the car stayed in a forward motion. Brought car at arnold palmer cadillac in charlotte, nc, independence ave on 2/10/07.after getting home, brakes begin to squeak, took car back immediately the next day, i was told to put the car in reverse and slam on brakes and the squeak should stop; that was an insult.again i took the car back to the dealership , i was told that they took the brakes pads off and sanded them down and the squeaking would stop.it has been three weeks now, my brakes is still squeaking with a grinding noise.spending $16,000 for a vehicle, i feel i should not have to go through this.i have missed 2 days of work taking my car back tothe dealeship to be made a fool of.i have brought 3 cadillacs from arnold palmer, never again will they get my business or will i recommend anyone to them for this type of service.in addition to the brake problem, now the warning lights are coming on for fluid levels.when you buy a car from a well-known company, you trust that the product you buy will be reliable, and have gone through a five point inspection.what can i do to resolve this situation, because i cannot continue to keep missing work and taking the car back for the same problem.i feel arnold palmer is putting me off in an effort for the warranty to expire, and they will not have to fix problem.

Anti-lock brake system has failed 3 times.dealer can't find anything wrong withvehicle.brakes let go and will not stopvehicle. Consumer was going approximately 40mphin traffic, and when applying brakes to slowdown they failed, causingconsumer to rearend another vehicle. Consumer was critically injured, andvehicle was totaled.

Dealership resurfaced the fronts rotors and replaced the padsat 30,000 miles,at 50,000 milesfront rotorswere resurfaced and the pads were replaced again.at 60,000 miles the front rotor were resurfaced for a third time.also, hada tie rod problem.the manufacturer indicated that he brake were wearing normally and needed to be replaced every 25000 to 30000 miles.the consumer now has no confidence in the dealer and refuses to allow them to work on the vehicle for anything other than warranty work.

Consumer applied brake at 5-10 mph, pedal went to the floor and vehicle hit a cement wall. Major damage to bumper area. No injuries. Dealer stated brake pedal was not attached to bar underneath like it should have been.*jg

Dt*:the contact stated while turning into a driveway at 10 mph or lessthe brakes failed to stop the vehicle.the brake pedal was depressed several times along with the accelerator pedal.the depression of the accelerator pedal was unintentional.the vehicle crashed into a gate and a parked car.the occupant of the parked car was injured.a police report was taken.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined a pin fell out of the brake pedal rendering it inoperable.updated on 05/30/2006.

2000 cadillac deville. Consumer states issues with steering *tgwthe consumer stated while driving, he heard a loud banging noise, and he realized the steering system had failed. The repair shop replaced the steering gear assembly.

Rack and pinion steering broke with less than 90,000 miles on vehicle.

The contact owns a 2000 cadillac deville. While driving 45 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

While backing up in my parking lot ,i heard a loud pop and lost the ability to steer the car. Upon further investigation it was determined that the steering box bolts had ripped out of the frame.

Dt*:the contact stated while parking the vehicle , the power steering fails. The vehicle was driven 10-15 miles before the incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where they replaced the power steering pump, rack and pinion, and pressure hose, but the problem persists.

Power steering went out while driving about 15 mph. Took vehicle to dealer, who replaced pump. But could not remedy problem. Vehicle had been at dealer since may 1.

The dealer informs me that the manufacturer is aware of the problem, however, i am waiting to be notified when there is a fix for this problem. No safety defect listed.

Consumer states that they went to have the front end alignedand found out that tie rod was bad. Please provide more information.mr

An article in today's wall street journal indicated that the nhtsa is conducting an investigation into possible general motors car defects. Notably difficulty in the power steering making a left hand turn.my 2000 cadillac deville , with 60,000 miles is experienceing just such an issue.i took the car into columbus cadillac and they said i needed a new steering rack - the installation of which would cost $ 1,300.00.the car steers fine in making a right hand turn but is extremely difficult in making a left hand turn.i encourage your review of this matter for a possible recall, for there is no excuse for this safety issue to arise at such mileage- the vast majority of which has been highway mileage..

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling various speeds or while stationary, the exterior side view mirrors and front roof pillars obstructed the view and created blind spots to the front sides of the vehicle.the contact also mentioned that there were other models which had the side mirrors attached to the door, instead of the window pillar.the contact had noticed many newer model vehicles, such as the nissan versa and mini cooper being manufactured this way.the manufacturer and dealer were not contacted.updated 12/18/06.

The poorly designed sunvisors on the car cannot be pushed far enough forward to allow proper visibility, when pulled down they stop directly in fron of drivers eyes.nlm

The sun shades on both the driver and passenger side do not go forward far enough to permit frontal vision due to design. *mjs

The glove box locked automatically and could not be opened, consumer took vehicle into dealer on two occasions and finally after waiting for 4 1/2 hours, the glove box was finally installed.

The visor is very wide and cannot be folded forward in such a way that it covers a smaller segment of the windshield making traffic lights not visible within one city block.nlm

Vehicle has never been struck however has a deep gash in the fiber glass structure below the bumper on the front end passenger side, the dealership states this is a common occurence, possibile structure design weakness. Claim# c03326427 consumer states they have heard nothing from cadillac.

Heavy vibration in the steering wheel caused a distraction to the consumer while driving.

Dt:the consumer has a cadillac deville limo stretched.the left and right sides of the vehicle are 1 1/2 " off. Limelight limo in san jose, ca, offered to re-stretch it, but someone else told the consumer that could interfere with the integrity of the frame.

There issevere vibration in steering wheel when the vehicle speeds reach and exceed 60 mph.dealership was contacted, and indicated that this was normal.

There is high pitched noise coming from an unknown component infront ofvehicle. Dealership has replacedsecondary air injection valve and resealed molding onwindshield twice.these actions have failed to correct this noise.

The michelin (symmetry all season tpcspec 1109ms p225/60r16 97s) tire disintegrated while driving causing the lights on the dashboard to come on. *mjs

The vehicle's digital instrument panel informations can not be read during bright sunny days, on the center consol the heater/air conditioner control, radio/cd/tape deck controls and the clock and outside temp reading also cannot be read on bright sunny days.

A shroud that extends from the center of the console down towards the carpet on the drivers side leaves a gap of several inches between the end and the carpeted floor, when the consumer moves foot from the accelerator to apply the brake his foot gets caught and impedes his ability to apply the brake.nlm

I was riding down the street and i felt my car going a little faster than it was suppose to because i was not on the gas pedal. My turn was coming up so i put my foot on the brakes it acted like it really didn't want to slow down so i had to punch on my brakes kind of hard to make the turn. And soon as i tookmy foot off the brake it started speeding up again. So i pulled over and cut the car off for about 10 seconds then started it back up. After i started the car back up it ran fine. My 2000 cadillac deville will occasionally accelerate of its own accord.it can happen when on cruise control or when not.the only way to get it to stop accelerating is to put it in neutral and tap the accelerator with your foot.it is quite disturbing and takes some seconds to realize what to do.fortunately has not happened in close quarters yet, but the stories about the old man who mistakenly put his foot on teh accelerator rather than the brake are bogus.his car did it.this happened also in oct. 2006.the dealer crest cadillac claimed to never heard of such a thing.they cleaned teh throttle body and only happened a couple times after that and was not a problem until this week.it again happened on the expressway and i was up to 85 mph before i regained control.

The sun visor doesn't extend forward far enough. As a result, the visor obstructs driver's view.the visor was changed in the newer model year vehicles,but the manufacturer was not willing toresolvethe problemalthough they were aware of visor's defect.

Dt: windows fall down without warning. In all weather conditionshad problem fixed on two windows, both front windows. The last one was the passenger side rear. It has not been fixed yet. Dealer and manufacturer said they will not fix windowfor free. Caller maintained problem affectedthe door; the passenger side rear door will not open. Caller feltchildrenwere in danger.

Front passenger and rear driver window fell down without warning will not go up. Contacted camargo cadillac to see if covered underextendedwarranty they will not tell me over the phone said the car had to be brought to them.

Right rear window emitted a loud "pop", and the window went down. Wedged the window in the up position as i was on my way to fla from new york.upon my arrival in fla, took it to a dealer and they estimated the repair at $600.00.i refused the repair and dissembled the door and window assembly to find the cable that controls the window to be disconnected due to a flimsy plastic catch that had broken. After several hours i was able to repair the window cable with a metal piece. Clearly this is an engineering flaw( i was an automotive engineer for 20 yrs. Had cycle and age tests been done properly, this flaw would have been detected, but then, the dealers would be out $600 per window for a .05 cent part.

Passenger side power window failed in the down (open) position during heavy rain. A very fragile plastic connector failed where connected to a cable. The service man commented that this is a very frequent failure on this car. Repair cost $291.50.

Power windows of cadillac deville spontaneously break, while driving, while sitting, in any types of weather.cadillac is fully aware of the problem and refuses to fix.many websites show other consumers with same complaints...such as www.cadillacforums.com .problem costs over $500 to fix and will break again (it is just a small plastic part).it is now at the point where people are posting "how to's" because it is such a persistent and costly problem.i have had to repair three so far.

Rolled down front passenger window using the driver button and was down for about a minute and then as i tried to bring it back up with the same button the window came up and then slammed down inside the window.the plastic guides broke inside and had to replace.the following week, the rear driver side window did the same thing.today, my wife got the car washed and the attendant was unable to get the passenger rear window up without using his hands to help pull it back up.i'm hoping i'm not having to replace that one soon.it looks like others have been having the same problem.i believe there should have been a recall on this part!we are on our way to palm springs and i hope this doesn't happen while we are on vacation!!!!

The third window regulator broke in vehicle, second this year.

Three of the four power windows have broken in the past six months, at seperate times. Each time the window was being rolled down there was a loud pop and the window would not go back up. One i could understand, but three in six months on a $40,000 car is unreasonable.

Front automatic windows both quit at one time, heated seat quits,sensor.

All four window regulators went out within one year.the repair costs ranged from $487 to $587 each.i researched the parts but because everything is housed in one part for this model it was impossible to find something affordable.the labor was $75.any number of consequences could occur from the distraction to the driver when the loud pop occurs, from what might enter through the window while driving, or from an accident that may require exiting the vehicle through a window.only a fool would replace with an old part since these parts do not last that long and cost so much.
