My car airbag light just comes on and never cuts off it just stays on and i don't know what the problem may be and i'm just wondering is this a problem with every air making model of the car that i have
I had just exited the highway and waited at the end of the ramp for the traffic signal to change. I was proceeding into the intersection after waiting for light to change. I began to accelerate and another car ran the light and hit my car on passenger side. The responders said i was t-boned. When i got hit the car steering wheel locked up, the car came out of gear, the gear mechanism inside the car came apart, the brakes didn't work. I had no control of the car, it shut down. The only thing that stopped me from hitting the metal guardrail was the car ended up on the curb on left of road in the bushes. The passenger window shattered and windshield on passenger side was damaged. The passenger door was pushed into the car and neither of the airbags deployed. The responder's commented that they were surprised that the airbags didn't deploy as hard as i was hit. The vehicle has been deemed a total loss as the damage is extensive. Previously on a few days have had to jiggle the steering wheel and the keys in ignition to turn so that i could start my car. I had previously checked the gm site and entered my vin because i had times when the ignition switch in my car would not work. There was no recall for my vehicle.

The airbag warning light illuminated and has never went out.i understand there may be issues with the airbags from this manufacturer and possible model. Mu vehicle was in motion on a city street.however, i'm unable to afford to have this repaired due to the cost involved and if it's a manufacturer's issue i don't feel i should be responsible for the costs involved.i would certainly like to have this issue checked before myself or a passenger is injured as a result to this issue, thanks.

Fixed once at dealer and fail again after a year
The airbag warning indicator dash & radio appeared 6/24/2015.i took the vehicle to the service department at bayview cadillac, ft. Lauderdale. Fl on 6/27/2015.i was advised that problem was that airbag sensor in passenger set needed to be replaced at price of $800.further that the problem was that the air bag sensor, which the service tech described as "pillow like," probably had a kink in it.there was a recall (nhtsa campaign number 10v105000), however, both baview cadillac and gm recall center advised that my vehicle was not included.i spoke to gm recall center and was assigned case number 71-1494438978.i was told that gm would offer no relief on repair cost.i cannot afford to spend $800 on a non mechanical, warning light issue.i will most likely attempt to disable the warning light.i was told by both local and central gm/cadillac personnel that the airbag is still operative despite the malfunctioning warning light.because nhtsa public info does not provide vin #'s, rather the term "certain model year 2005-2007 cadillac cts vehicles," i must depend on gm's honesty ... Which i do.my reason for registering an official complaint is to alert nhtsa that additional vehicles may be involved.
I was number 6 of persons to have a severe rollover wreck in the same spot. In a curve, my right front tire caught t the lip of a 3 foot deep concrete culvert in a driveway. It was 9 inches from the road edge. It flipped over front to on roof. I was trapped in car.my front airbag partially opened but not enough to keep my face and chest area from hitting and breaking the steering wheel. No other of 7 airbags deployed at all. Every window, including sunroof was totally broken out.both front seats were crushed into the floor and too hot to touch.. Since it occurred in the country, i was saved by the neighbors calling for help.onstar failed to notify anyone and the fire/emt man said car was 5 minutes away from going up in flames.my implants were both ruptured by hitting steering wheel and face cut up and bruised by glass and lack of full employment by driver airbag.i have photos showing car and airbag.the airbag was pristine clean with 2 large torn holes.no smoke or dust off any type. I still haven't driven in 21/2 years.please give me your opinion.thank you.

Service airbag alert on the information center, airbag icon lit on the instrument panel, and passenger airbag off indicated on the rearview mirror. Diagnosis at a cadillac dealer verified the problem to be identical to the reason for recall 10v-644 (nhtsa action number : eq11001.) the dealer's service manager said my car did not qualify for repair since my vin was not included in the recall population. I had him read the following from defect investigations results: nhtsa action number : eq11001: according to its 10v-644 defect report, gm reported that some vehicles outside the recall population have "...significantly lower incident rates and will be provided a special coverage." this special coverage includes a free repair should the same issue occur to non-recalled 2005-2007 cadillac cts vehicles up to 10 years or 120,000 miles.he still insisted that since my vin was not in the recall population it did not merit repair at no charge.

I had a 2006 cadillac cts. The air bag light came on three times in the first 18 months, it was a brand new car. I took it to dealer service dept, and they said they reset or fixed the problem.i had a car wreck a few months later following an ambulance with my daughter who was having chest pains. Someonestarted to come over in my lane and i swerved. Lost control and hit a bridge 4 times. Almost every panal was hit on my car as the bridge threw my car around. Not one air bag deployed. I was shaken up and sore, but not bleeding, so assumed i was okay. Now i am having back and neck problems and headaches. I have since learned that other cts's had same problem but have not heard anything in news. I believe there should have been a recall.why is the media not picked up on this like it is toyota and honda. Even though my crash did not result in death. I will have to live with pain and medicine and doctor visits. They should have looked into and fixed, when i had to keep bringing my car back.

Air bag recall by gm in december. I call the cadillac customer service enquiring about the recall for the passenger seat airbag for certain cts from 2005-2010 to find out that i have not received any notice and my passenger or airbag system is still disabled since i reported it to gm in 2010 and for them to tell me if my cts was included. The cadillac customer service looked in the computer with my vin number and she could not find anything. I asked which cts from 2006 and other years was recall and she did not find anything. She asked me to call in two months and see if my car is included. I can not understand if a recall was announce in december 2010, why it would take so long for gm- cadillac to determine which specific cts is involve in this recall unless the longer they wait, it will disqualify more owners if they use a mileage limit on the recall. The longer they wait the more mileage owners put in their cts thus increasing the amount of cts that they have to fix by disqualifying owners according to mileage. This is a serious safety issue hat should not take 4 months or more to notify owners or determine which cts is to be recall. The nsta should push for gm and all manufacturers to have a certain date which they have to notify owners to have the safety problem fixed. Any day that passes by it increases the likelihood of a cadillac owner or persons getting seriously hurt because of a manufacturers delaying or slow to react tactics. Your help from nhtsa in this matter will be appreciated.

2006 cadillac cts passenger side air bag sensor . Original problem was the service air bag light came on the dash approximate mileage 68700. Took the car in for service and came back as passenger side module had failed. (safety warning air bag would not deploy for any reason.)had senor module replaced at cost of $ 596.18in reviewing the log this model year has had a number of this type of occurrence. What is needed to have a recall for this problem? how many air bags are disconnected due to cost of repair ? if a 3 year old car has a major safety component (air bag ) not working. What can be deemedwhen the majority of the cars reach 5 years?seat belts and air bags are for the passengers safety. This is a family car.
Air bag light on. I call cadillac and they advised me to take it immediately to the dealer. I ask the representative if they have received complaints on the same problem and he said a few. I asked him if its under warranty and he said that he will forward it to the warranty person who will handle my case. However, they will need a report from the dealer on the problem and if the dealer finds the part defective they will replace it at no cost to me. He connected me to the healey brothers the nearest dealer to my home. I made the appointment and before i made the appointment the dealer representative tried to informed me that if the car was not in a crash the part may be defective. The gm representative was still on the line and immediately cut off the dealer and stated you are to check the car and get back to me and we will handle it from there. I made the appointment & took the car on november 17, 2009. I had to pay the dealer for the diagnosis of $113.29. They inspected the car in and out for any crash damage and they found none and commented on how well i take care of the car. They a computer checked and found failure code set b0092 for circuit malfunction traced to failure within the seat and must replace module to enable airbag system to work/operate. They gm customer assistance case # 71-776491182 and advice of repair needed and cost of $920.93 and it did not include the $113.00 that i paid for. I received a call a day later and the gm representative told me that the cars warranty expired however, they will offer me a resolution to me by reducing some of the labor repair and a maintenance package if i agree to absorb the rest of the cost. I explain that i should not absorb any cost. He stated let me speak to my boss and ill get back to you and ill call you back with a decision. I did not get a return call. I left a message to the gm representative justin pepper and have not received return calls since.

2006 cadillac cts "service air bag" light is on. I took it to the dealer who stated the sensor needs to be replaced. The car is out of the warranty and the extended warranty doesn't cover this. The cost is $754.00. This is ludicrous as the air bags have never been used.
I have a cadillac cts 2006 and my air bag light came on for no reason. I took the car to the cadillac dealer for diagnosis and they found out that the front sensor control module needs to be replaced.i called gm motors, because i found out the same sensor is recalled for cadillac cts models 2005-2006 and the campaign id # is 10v644000, however gm told me that my car is too old to honor the recall and they refuse to replace it. Here is the nhtsa campaign id number :10v644000 that stats: "non-deployment of the front passenger air bag in the event of a crash necessitating that air bag's deployment may reduce protection of the passenger and increase the risk or severity of injury to them... Dealers will replace the passenger sensing system free of charge..gm safety recall no. 100355"i am not sure why my car is too old for them and not qualifying for the recall since is the exact year for the recall 2006, the exact model - cts, with the exact problem description for the recall. Please help and thank you for your time.
I was driver and i begin going to my far line and i was hit by a monster truck the. Other driver received the situation . Because i had the right away.the other driver licenses was suspended and he was driving a company vehicles. Went to the emergency room that same day.and i received . Six thousand in damages. To my vehicles.
Driver information center (dic) began suddenly displaying "service airbag soon" alert when passenger is seated within vehicle. Cursory inspection revealed no obvious problem with airbag system components to include visible wiring and accessible sensor connection points. This problem appears to be consistent with the condition addressed in gm recall number 10355 (nhtsa campaign id 10v644000).the referenced recall includes certain "2006 model year cadillac ctsand cts-v vehicles"; however, gm's customer service center is stating that my particular 2006 cts vin# is not showing any outstanding recalls at this time.

I have a cadillac cts 2006 and my air bag light came on. I took the car to the cadillac dealer for diagnosis and they found that the front sensor control module needs to be replaced. I contacted my extended warranty company and they explained that it was not covered under my policy. I paid a $100.00 diagnosis fee but did not get the vehicle repaired because it was over $500.00. Several months later i took the car in for routine maintanence and again had the look at the airbag light, again not repaired. I them read on this site the gm had recalled this model for the exact problems i was having. I called gm motors because the same sensor is recalled for cadillac cts models 2005-2006 and the campaign id # is 10v644000, however gm told me that my last diagnosis was too old so i had to pay again $100.00 diagnostic fee to send to gm although i and the dealer knew what was wrong. Gm the refused to honor the recall. They stated that the recall was vin specific and my vin was not included in the recalled vehicles. The nhtsa campaign id number :10v644000 that stats: "non-deployment of the front passenger air bag in the event of a crash necessitating that air bags deployment may reduce protection of the passenger and increase the risk or severity of injury to them... Dealers will replace the passenger sensing system free of charge..gm safety recall no. 100355"i went forward and repaired it this time as i have paid 3 $100.00 diagnostic fees. This is a way that gm is attempting to rip customers off. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The accident occurred as a result of evasive action to avoid striking an animal (believed to be a large coyote) that suddenly appeared from the left of us97n north of klamath falls, oregon, a two lane roadway. This action caused the right front wheel to travel to the road shoulder.the shoulder was covered with an accumulation of cinder material used by the state to provide traction on ice and snow. It was built up due to the action of snowplows. (the road was clean and dry at the time of the accident).the wheel sank into the accumulated cinders causing the vehicle to enter a spin and subsequently to roll down an embankment.none of the front or side air bags deployed.gm's cadillac division was made aware of this fact and conducting an investigation of their own.they since advised that they were unable to determine a cause for the failure.air bag deployment would not have prevented the incident but may have lessened the extent ofthe injuries suffered by the driver and front seat passenger.post accident photographs, rescue agency reports, police reports and a readout of the vehicle's "black box" computer equipment are available on request.interestingly enough, an e-mail diagnostics report from the vehicle's on-star system dated june 22, 2010 was received almost four months after the accident stating "no issues found" with the air bag system but that the on-star system, which also failed to function at the time of the accident, required action.

I have a 2006 cadillac cts, while on vacation i noticed my car needed to be inspected so i decided to get it inspected when i get to my destination on my way in my (passenger side air bag light ) comes on when i take it to get inspected it failed so i took it to the nearest cadillac dealer to have it checked out they wanted to charge me a 100 dollars to diagnose the problem i told them i would be back. I went online to see about resetting the light and a lot of recallsfor this problem showed up i then called the cadillac assistance 800 # talked to a few people they were aware of the recall but told me i have to wait and see if my car falls under the recall so i tried to get the number to the corp and they wouldn't give it to me and told me they couldn't do anything for me now i have a rejected inspection on my car and can not go to work you would think that if they are having so many complaints that they would do something about it. It appears to me that cadillac doesn't care about the safety of the public and cadillac owners what are they going to do about this problem.*ln
On my 2006 cadillac cts, i experienced a defect in the passenger frontal airbag.this occurred in august, 2009.i took the vehicle to the local cadillac dealer and the problem was supposedly corrected.now seven months later, the same defect light is coming on indicating the problem is occurring again.this is definitely a safety problem because the airbag may not deploy in an accident or may deploy while driving.the vehicle was under warranty when the first incident occurred but is now out of warranty.we are senior citizens with very limited income and are now told we must pay for the correction of this problem.i am concerned about driving the vehicle with my spouse as a passenger until we can get the vehicle repaired.please let me know if i have any options under the safety defect act.

Airbag light illuminates due to defective module beneath passenger seat.car has not been involved in an accident and only has 42,000 miles.gm has already issued a recall on select model years for the same issue.unfortunately the 2006 model is not yet included in the recall.it should be.
I have a 2206 cadillac cts, my airbag lights on the passenger side. Went on line see they have recall on them. Called the company. They said my vin no is not listed. It just came on a month ago. Have had nothing but problems with the car from day one.
A week after i purchased a 2006 cadillac cts in november, 2010, the service passenger airbag light came on.i took the vehicle back to the dealer (because i had purchased an extended warranty through them).they told me they ordered the part necessary and that it would be very expensive to fix it.i did some research and found out about a gm recall.time has gone by and the problem still exists.i called the number given for the cadillac division included in the article about the recall.the gentleman told me my vehicle (based upon my vin number was not included in the recall. I told the gentleman that someone was to take care of the problem because if i had an accident and the bad did not deploy causing injury or death to my passenger, i would sue gm.i guess that got his attention because arrangements were made and my car is in the shop now being repaired.that gentleman issued a service request #71-926652841 and has called me back a couple of times.he keeps wanting me to say i am now satisfied.i will not be satisfied until the safety issue has been solved.also, that gentleman has told me several times to not believe the things i find on the internet unless they are actually on the gm site.i got my information about the recall from the nhtsa site.and, in my opinion, that is an official site.

The vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v644000; component: air bags: frontal: sensor/control module.gm safety recall no. 100355. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they informed him that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

While waiting to make a right on red (one car was in front of me) the engine shut off . It had been running fine for the entire morning commute up to this point.this may be related to an intermittent situation i have had for 6 mos.over the course of 6 mos. There have been four instances where the car stuttered for a second (check engine came on for 2 sec). Took the car to a nearby cadillac dealer for service but they could not pin point the problem nor reproduce it.

I was driving down the road and my car stopped accelerating. Causing a close encounter of a bad accident. This has happened numerous of times. Today my car will not move at all. It still runs it just will not move. This morning it continued to stop accelerating. Causing some really close encounters. Luckily i got my car in my driveway and now it wont move.
Vehicle stopped twice on me without warning security light came on it stop while i driving i was turning and hit a hole in road.
This vehicle has had thousands of complaints about ecm related problems. Every complaint is the same. The computer causes the temp gauge, fuel gauge to stop working, the tc light & antitheft lights to come on, and the key being stuck in the ignition. It renders the car undriveable because the temp & fuel gauges stop working. I have researched this and there has been the exact same issue with thousands of cars!!! when i contacted cadillac about this they said i would have to pay hundreds of dollars for a diagnoses fee. I told them that this is obviously a defect with poor design and/or bad parts. I have included just one of many links that owners have had with this model of car. This model needs to be recalled and cadillac needs to fix this ongoing problem!!http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/cadillac-cts/t0o6tkb3dqgank509/p3this is so wrong that they have received thousands of complaints for the exact same problem i mentioned above and have done nothing to fix it!!!!

While returning from a trip, the engine shut off and all the power in the car was gone, while driving (in motion). We had been driving approximately 1.5hrs.we were going about 65mph, when the radio and ac went off.there was a message that said something about "battery reserve" (?????)i turned the radio and air back on.immediately after, "service brake assist" message, then entire dashboard (including speedometer) goes dead.car shuts off and immediately decelerates.fortunately, we were in the slow lane already and could get out of quickly moving traffic (and the cars behind us could swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting us).on the side of the road, all power was still lost and could not remove the key from ignition.attempted to "jump off", which restored power to remove the key.but vehicle would not start and ultimately had it towed.dealer said motor was locked but didn't know (or immediately care) why.after i prodded the service manager, the technician called to say it was the alternator belt that was locked, causing the motor to be locked.with all of the ignition switch issues that i have read about the last 2 days, i am concerned that neither of those are the cause, but a result.my key "fix" lasted about 2 days.although mentioned, the key was not "fixed" on the next visit.
I took my wife to get a hair cut on saturday jun 20th; when she was done a couple hours later we returned to the car and notice it was filled with smoke. I didn't see any fire but could smell something was melting, i unplugged the battery figuring that it may be electrical related. I opened all the doors to let the smoke out once the smoked cleared i plugged the battery back in and drove it to murdocks chevy dealership to have the mechanics take a look. They found that the motor that controls the forward movement on the passenger seat had failed or shorted and melted. I am not sure if the mechanic reported the incident so i am filling out this form. ..updated 08/31/15
Window wipers wont turn off or work on delay. Keep going on off. Same problem on 2003 cadillac a year ago and cost us over $400. If not a defect, how could one person end up with two vehiclesof the same make & model doing the same thing on wipers? especially something so expensive and not something simple. Now i have to pay that again and have never had that on any other vehicle i have owned.

I am the owner of a 2006 cadillac cts 3.6l v6 with a broken timing chain which is a $1,500 repair. I was traveling 70 mph down the highway when the timing chain went out and almost had an accident trying to pull onto the side of the road. I contacted gm and was told that even though my vehicle has the same engine as the 2007 model, it was not covered by the extended warranty. Upon researching this is a known issue with the cadillac cts from the very beginning of its appearance in 2003.the number of complaints from 2003 to 2006 for the timing chain on the nhtfs website was the same as the number of complaints in the years covered by gm's special extended warranty (gm subject 10287 concerning timing chain issue) for the 2007-2009 cts. Gm realized the timing belts were an issue and found a way to only cover those 3 years by blaming the need to reprogram engine control module. By doing this they managed to prevent investigations by the nhtfs regarding the timing chain issue. While the engine control module may have contributed to the timing chain issue in the 2007 ' 2009 years, it is not the cause of the issue since the problem existed in the 4 years prior to the addition of the faulty engine control module.the years following the extended warranty there have been zero complaints related to timing chain issues. This indicates that perhaps the timing chains being used previously were likely replaced, but i do not have the resources to investigate that. The nhtfs has never investigated the timing chain problem in the 7 years it was occurring. Part of the problem is that most people filing a complaint about a timing chain don't know how to categorize it (i found instances under airbags, electrical, etc.) these are only the cases that have been reported to the nhtfs, but the internet is filled with people complaining about the problem.

Car was parked at work i was notified that it was leaking/pouring gasoline under car. Towed to dealership for repair. Dealership noted, "gas leaking at top of tank, connector shorted at top of fuel module which burnt a hole and was leaking gasoline". It cannot be caused by a road impact as it occurs on the fuel module on the top of the gas tank. Entire tank has to be dropped off of car to replace the module.i investigated in the cadillac owners forum and it was noted that this has occurred on other cadillacs and gm vehicles.caused by a short. I notified dealership service manager of this and was told there is no recall.
Turned on windshield wipers and windshield washer motor starting spraying cleaner.i tried turning off the wipers and even changing the wiper speeds but the motor keeps trying to spray cleaner.eventually i ran out of cleaner but you can still hear the motor running when the wipers are on.pulled over and shut car off, waited 5 minutes and started car again but the washer motor still comes on when i turn on the windshield wipers.this was dangerous as it just flooded my view with wiper fluid.not sure if wiper washer motor will burn out and cause other electrical issues. My back center brake light no longer works and since this was pointed out to me earlier this month, i have noticed at least four other cts cars with the same issue. They range from my year ('06) to at least 2009. And when quoted a price ($600+!) i balked at having it replaced. Anyone else notice this or have this issue?
On 07/26/2015 went to start car. It started ok, but then there was no power to dash non on my indicators came on, when i went to put the car in drive the gear shift would not move. So i went to turn the car off, at this point the key would not turn all the way to full off position and is stuck in the ignition, all night. This of course means the alarm would not go on. So key stuck in ignition, no alarm, no dash power. This of course by morning had killed a new battery of only 5 days old.

Received a recall notice from general motors back in september 2014,recall # 14172 for the ignitionswitch safety problem. To date i have read their have been 43 related deaths..i called my local cadillac dealership on 10/6/2014 at 2001 n collins st,arlington,tx,phone 877-584-7149.they took all my info and recall nbr and said as soon as the parts come in they will call me and toschedule the appointment.well it is now december 16,2014 and i am still waiting????????? i can see how serious gm is about thisrecall[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While operating the vehicle, the electronic stability control warning indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle began to jerk before stalling and shutting off. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Around3:30 p.m , i noticed my car was jerking very hard , it changed gears hard , i lost power , it was hard to pick up speed , and when i arrived home 20 minutes later , it started smoking uncontrollably.
2006 cadillac dts.consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine issues.the consumer was informed there were two pans under the engine that were leaking oil and the gaskets needed to be replaced.only the small pan was replaced. Two weeks ago, the consumer noticed oil spots on the garage floor. The dealer informed the consumer it would cost $3,000 to repair the vehicle.
Engine has used one quart of oil every 800 to 1000 miles since i bought it in 2013. No smoking, no leaking. Just disappears and no way to know where it went. Only had 38,000 miles on it and has 85000miles on it now and still does it. Told by one place that general say it is normal for that car? don't believe that.. Was almost empty be time i was having problems and checked it. I had put 3000 mile on then and did not expect a oil loss like that. Have kept eye on it not to get that low since.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal sound from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to crest cadillac (2121 rosa l parks blvd, nashville, tn) where it was diagnosed that the motor and transmission support were not the correct specifications for the engine installed in the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The vin was not provided.
During the winter february 2015 i walked out of my residence, went to start my vehicle & it would not turn over. I accounted the issue as to the weather being below zero temperature. A few days later, when the temperatures were higher the vehicle still would not start. The day before the cts like not start, i noticed it was driving a little sluggish that evening when i drove to the bank. I just had a tune up done on the vehicle two months prior and never had any problems prior. I arranged for the vehicle to be towed to the holman cadillac dealer in my area and received the diagnostics report. Upon tear down, they found all four cam shafts okay but crank gear is off 5 teeth due to primary chain tensioner wear which caused slack in chain and allowed gear to jump time. I enclosed the document from them in the complaint.
I was driving the vehicle and was hit from behind and went into a curb.my airbags did not deploy and the car would not restart.the engine completely shut off.the car continue to have problems with the engine and smoking after it was repaired by a gm dealer. We had to turn the car in and file bankruptcy after it stopped working.

Timing making a chatter noise.
I was at a stop sign when i tried to press down on the gas the car started tug and it would only do that on the first gear one mechanic said that it has to do with the fuel system and i kept testing the car out and i kept pressing on the gas to see if there was a difference but it kept doing the same thing as the first time

I had timing chain done on my car in oct. Of 2011 at jack wolf in belvedire, il at the time the car was fixed under a extended warranty.i then had the same problem happen again jan. 2013.i called gm i was told that then would not fix it even though it had only been a year and 6 months since the problem happen before.

The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
Check engine light came on and the cadillac dealer as well as two independent shops gave the same diagnosis -- the timing chains [3] had evidently 'stretched' -- no recall, no warranty -- only $1,500.00out of my pocket -- who ever heard of such a dumb thing, this is not a toyota with timing belts -- i am truly disgusted, that's the end of cadillacs for me --

Timing chain missing teeth due to tensioner problem in the vehicle. I believe this is a more than common problem with the vehicle according to google reports. Please investigate. This problem could have killed me and my children as we left from church

Driving on the freeway and the car just died on me in the middle of the highway. Had to get it towed to the shop found out it was the timing chain.
Had used 1 qt oil in 5,000 miles on previus oil change and now has used 2.5 qtsin 4,000 miles.
I have read numerous complaints for the same issue i am reporting on the internet on various websites.the dealership mechanics can't determine the issues and something has to be done!the first time i experienced the problem i was slowly (less than 5mph) turning the steering wheel in the right direction into a parking space and the vehicle would not stop, it jumped the sidewalk, but stopped before hitting the building.i had the vehicle looked at by mechanics at the dealership and they were unable to replicate, but would guess manifold gasket, that?s a lot of money for a guess fix that may not resolve the problem. The issue has happened numerous times since; yesterday it happened while in reverse (turning wheel to the left under 5 mph) i thought i wasn't going to ever stop!http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/comment/4050860list a lot of people saying the same issue happened to them and the dealership mechanics have guessed fixes from wheel hubs to loose radiator hoses, but the problem continues after the guess fix.until someone gets deathly injured behind this issue, i don't think cadillac is taking it seriously. The other common problems traction engaging (light comes on) when making turns at higher speeds (over 5mph) may be related to this issue.this has happened with me and my family in the vehicle, everyone is aware of the issue, the dealership (which appears clueless as many others do) as well as a local reputable family owned auto mechanic business in my community.i need to know what it takes for this issue to be diagnosed and fixed, before something tragic happens to me.thank you. 2006 cad cts-frustrated owner (dealership has milked me dry and still experience same issues, already paid dealership in the last year: passenger airbag light ($495) rear differential ($600+) and now possibly spending $600+ on a defect fix guess ? manifold ).
(1) normal driving(2) rear differential leak and whine; coolant leak from the radiator(3) going to the dealer tomorrow.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. Upon accelerating from a red light, the vehicle could only accelerate to 15 mph.the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that there was fluid emitting from the radiator. My 06 cadillac cts had less than 35000 miles on it and less than 3,000 on an oil change when i noticed the oil level was below the reading marks on the dipstick. No drips on the ground. After researching i discovered their spec is to burn 1 quart per 1000 miles (1 quart per 500 miles if aggressively driven). I took the car in for an evaluation to see if it hit their "specs", and the service manager performed an oil change, and set me up for a reinspection at 2,000 miles. When i went in he checked the oil level, and it was low, i asked where the level should have been on the dipstick and he gave me a range. If the consumption rate is so specific, shouldn't the test for consumption have strict guidlelines about where the dipstick readings should be? i have owned almost exclusively gm vehicles for most of my adult life. Even in the ones i've kept for 150,000 miles plus, i have never had even one of them leak let alone burn oil at this rate. In 3000 miles, i have to put 2 quarts of oil in this vehicle, and that's normal.it may not be a safety issue, at least until my car engine seizes on the highway from lack of oil, but it is def something that needs to be addressed by gm.
I took my 2006 cadillac cts into a gm dealer for a recall. They also changed the oil.ever since they changed the oil, my car has been burning an excessive amount of oil.i had to put a quart of oil or more about every 500 miles. I put in 1 1/2 quarts on a wednesday and on a monday my car began making a loud knocking sound in the engine.gm will not listen to me and now my car probably needs a new motor. I have babied the car and this is not my fault.oil is in the car at all times and it should not throw a rod with oil.
Timing chain broke while cruising on highway, 70mph. Incident caused catastrophic engine failure requiring entire engine replacement, $8500.00.odometer 66,998. 2006 cadillac cts, 3.6l v6 engine, rwd.
My 2006 cadillac cts with a 3.6l v6 started burning oil excessively at about 25,000 miles.it now has about 31,000 miles and burns a quart every 800 miles.i drive about 6500 miles per year, mostly in short distance city driving.the car still drives well and it still passes the texas vehicle inspection which includes emissions testing.the oil gets black quickly after a change.this oil consumption is excessive for such a low mileage car.
Drivers side floor mat will not stay in place. The floor mat rolls up under the brake and gas pedal making it difficult to press both pedals. Have straighten it out every time before using car. Have removed it sometimes while on long trips to keep from causing accident.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts.the contact stated that she can drive countless miles with the emergency brake engaged.the vehicle has been to the dealer six times.the fuel gauge displays inaccurate readings on the instrument panel and was taken to the dealer three times for this failure.she has to keep a quarter tank of gas in her tank or else the vehicle will shut off.in addition, the radio changes stations automatically.the current mileage was 2,776 and failure mileage was 35.
There should be a recall on all cadillac cts models 03-07 for faulty tail lights.the long center stop light is neon and moisture burns it out, difficult and expensive to replace, faulty product-some states require this third stop light, dealer wants $700+ to replace with new faulty part.the two regular stop lights are equally difficult to fix when they stop working.no brake lights on this vehicle.to check the fuses is additionally complicated as one or both are under the backseat which requires removal of the seat, including two other fuse situations.this is truly dangerous and the design and product is inferior, taking much time and cost to have repaired.i am not aware of any other vehicles at these model years with un-safe difficult brake light issues, and cadillac is arrogant to say "it's a cadillac thing"i think cadillac needs to get it's lighting functions correct for road safety issues and i'm so angry about this problem that i think cadillac should be forced to re-call these vehicles and fix them properly at no charge with properly functioning lighting electrics and bulbs.mal-functioning brake light problems are in my opinion a grave safety issue.
Automatic light sensor does not sense daylight for 5 mins and 23 secs at the last timing. In a daylight drive of 12 miles, the car turned night-time lamps on and off 6 times.dealer says it is working as designed.this has just started to happen the last 12 days.no light settings have been changed since they were set when i purchased the car. I was told by sholz cadillac repair to wait for the lights to sense the change before driving. However, what do i do when entering and exiting a tunnel? when placed side by side with a gmc xuv with an automatic sensor, the gmc senses the difference in light in 3 seconds.this delay in my cadillac is certainly a safety hazard.
My back center brake light no longer works and since this was pointed out to me earlier this month, i have noticed at least four other cts cars with the same issue. They range from my year ('06) to at least 2009. And when quoted a price ($600+!) i balked at having it replaced. Anyone else notice this or have this issue?
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated the third brake light failed a total of three times and would not seal properly. In case you are not already aware of this, the tail lights of some newer model passenger automobiles are visually distracting because the light emitting diode (led) array that is used for the tail lights is being strobed on and off, instead of being on continuously.i have noticed this on the latest model cadillac and jaguar vehicles, to name two.the rate of strobing is high enough so that you don't see the flashing when looking directly at the taillight.however, as my eyes move to scan multiple lanes of highway traffic ahead, i can see the strobing in my peripheral vision and my first reaction to the sudden flash is that the brake lights have come on.it catches my attention and tricks my eyes tolook back at that particular vehicle to confirm whether or not it is indeed braking.this is distracting.the newer led vehicle tail lights should be illuminated continuously (just like a good old fashion light bulb), not strobed on and off at a high rate.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated intermittently, the driver's seat belt retractor failed, and the directional signal failed.

Received notice of recall # 14405 in sept 2014. Gm says this is not a recall, per cadillac cust center (800 458 8006). As such they have no information on said recall, nor a timeframe of when or if said recall will be performed.they have said parts are not currently available for repair of this supposed recall. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalitiesfrom this supposed problem, therefore it is not a priority to gm. The only remedy suggested by cust. Assistance is to pay dealer out of pocket to replace defective fuel pump with an identical part. There would be no recovery of cost due to same failure part being installed.vehicle owner concludes gm will not comply with recall 14405, a known fire hazard to the vehicle and occupants. 10,005 vehicles are included in this recall.

2006 cadillac cts-v differential problem.

I bought the car new,i have had a loud bang in the rear end when the automatic transmission changes gears.i have been into the dealer numerous times with the same complaint but they never corrected it or even explained it.there was a recall on the pinion seal that they did replace but it did not help the bang in the rear end.recently, i have been told it is a problem with the differential and bushings which are completely worn out and that the differential can shift and cause additional damage.i went back into the dealer who sent 78 pages of repair and complaint history of this car to general motors, who basically said if i would have contacted them while it was under warranty they might take steps with the repair.well i did contact them during the earlier years so i do not understand why they are not taking responsibility for the defect today.
Driving on the freeway and the car just died on me in the middle of the highway. Had to get it towed to the shop found out it was the timing chain.

This 2006 cadillac cts is a 6 pspd manual transmission, all other gears work except reverse. This vehicle only has about 20,100 miles which is consistent with less than 2 years of using a vehicle. I was told by the auto dept at gm on maui they will not be paying for the repairs and the problem was the wear and tear in the shift assembly had to be changed. A month later i attempted to get this fixed by the same auto department and was informed they don't have a company that manufactures the parts (part no 1526075) and they cannot find this part anywhere. I believe this is a defect in the shift assembly part and feel gm should have this shift assembly part recalled. Checks made on the web revealed that there are numerous complaints about this same issue on "cadillac.com" and ?autopartsfair.com?.

2006 cadillac cts.four separate incidents in less than two years where the rear differential, pinion seal has leaked at highway speeds causing smoke, noise and rendered the car un-drivable.four separate tows, four separate strandings.two of the strandings were in the middle of the night.blogs and discussions i have read indicate this problem is wide spread.some report the rear axle locking up and causing a situation that could have been life threatening.the car has been to four separate cadillac dealer repair facilities and each time they just bubble-gum repair (replace the defective seal) and send me on my way hoping that my warranty will expire before the same old problem happens again.i no longer have confidence in the car.i rent when i must travel out of town.this car is going to get me killed and likely some other innocent people when the rear end locks-up on the freeway at 75 mph.the incident date noted below is only the most recent.the car was towed 40 miles to fisher chevrolet cadillac in yuma, arizona and remains there as of this date.
The first problem i encountered with the vehicle was a broken clutch pedal return spring that had fallen out from under the dashboard at 8,850 miles.this was repaired under warranty.second, i had a cadillac dealership replace the rear differential under warranty due to a whining noise and leak present at 9,021 miles.at this time i had questioned a clank noise present in the driveline when engaging or disengaging the clutch. I was told this is normal, and no problem was present at this time. At 10,530 miles, i was making a right turn from a stop in first gear. I had accelerated to 20mph and shifted into second gear.i began accelerating in second gear when the driveline failure occurred.the vehicle had spun 270 degrees to the right loosing control.this caused the the vehicle to hit the right side curb with extreme force to the left rear wheel, damaging the rear suspension and differential.the vehicle proceeded over the curb with all four wheels and stopped on a sidewalk.this also caused chassis and front suspension damage.the vehicle was unable to move after the accident due to the clutch not engaging.the clutch pedal travel is now about 3 inches total off the floor, opposed to the original 6 inch travel equal to the height of the brake pedal.as a result of the accident the vehicle was totaled by the insurance company and sold.at this time no assistance has been given by general motors.

Rear differential whine and leakage - 2006 model, build date nov 2005.the car is used for freeway commuting only (300 miles/day) and has never been driven hard. The differential has whined since delivery with 78 miles on the car. The differential fluid was changed at 2847 miles with redline 75w-90 synthetic fluid and gm 1052358 additive, and significant metal powder was removed from the magnetic drain plug at the time of change. On april 16, at a little over two months and 8413 miles, i took the car back to the selling dealership for repair, as the differential had begun leaking about april 10 and ~7200 miles. The service manager, wyman adcock, drove the car and reported that while he could 'hear a slight whine', he thought that it was normal and i should continue to drive it to see if it gets worse.i pointed out to him that gm has hadproblems with the differential on this car since it's introduction and that another cadillac dealer told me that they had replaced so many differentials in these cars that they now keep one in stock. The service manager told me that he had never heard of a problem with these cars. I suggested that i should take it another dealership, and left.

I was turning into a parking space between two cars. So i made a sharp turn and the brakes failed. I was unable to stop the car and headed for the car in front of me.i stopped it by straightening the wheel. At this time i was able to stop.this happens everytime i make a sharp turn. Just trying to park in my driveway, i fear running into to my garage. Even making right turns. I just hope there is not a line of cars when i turn because i may run into the car in front of me. I have never made a sharp turn at fast speeds. So i say this only happens at any sharp turn at slow speeds. I feel this is a safety hazard.
The car was being parked at hospital by my daughter where she works the brake pushed all the way to floor car hit building no injurers2nd time this has happened the car has front damage no airbag deployedthere are over 500 times this has happened looking at websites this needs fixedbefore more people get killed all the same cars
May '15 noticed small pink puddle of fluid on the garage floor under front passenger side.new set of brakes put on in jan '15 so drove to my mechanic.when i did a hard left into the parking spot at 2-5 mph the car brake pedal shuttered, went to the floor and i was barely able to stop.mechanic had it for 3 hrs trying to figure out the problem/test driving it many times.they could not find anything wrong.two weeks ago the "service brake assist" dash message came on.i looked it up on the computer.i found over 75+ complaints of other cadillac cts owners with the same problem.all of them had their mechanic or dealer look at the problem.most of those failed to find any problem or repaired things that did not fix the problem.almost everyone said gm should do something or at least let owners know.the situation is very dangerous.i also came across the way to fix the problem from a complaint forum poster :"it is a wiring harness problem - have your mechanic check the wiring harness for sources of inductive voltage. Eventually, an intelligent mechanic fabricated a new harness with new terminal grounds from the ebcm to the left wheel speed sensor and rerouted the harness away from any possible sources of inductive voltage. Once that was complete, we have not had a problem.the mechanic (works for dealership) said to us that anecdotally he has run into this problem more than once and that there seems to be a failure in the design /workmanship in some of the wiring harnesses connecting the ebcm to the speed sensors that causes the brakes to fail. Separately, he recommended the next time we buy a car, we not buy a cadillac, because he felt that the fix -- rerouting the harness -- was not a time or money intensive fix, but that gm didn't seem interested in letting car owners know that, despite the potential and obvious dangers.more but out of room.
Ebcm failure traction control, abs, and brake lights are all on.
This has been a recurring intermittent problem when making a right braking turn at less than 5mph.the abs light comes on and the brake pedal goes to the floor and i have to pump the brakes very hard and press down very hard to stop the car otherwise i hit the parking space stop.many people have posted the same experience with the 2006 cts and they are told the same thing from the dealer that i was.they were not able to recreate the problem.i was told by the dealer that i had to replace the brake pads which another mechanic told me was not necessary since the pads still had 50% left on them.this is a big issue on this car and someone is going to get hurt.

The car will not stop when turning into parking spaces, coming up to stop lights or going down hills. When this started happening, i thought i just needed new brakes.i went to the mechanic and replaced my brakes and got new tires, but the issue continued.in order to stop, i have to put the car in park while it is rolling. I pump the brakes, but that does not help.i have almost rear-ended vehicles while coming to stop lights.i have almost ran into light poles while parking my car.i have rolled out into the street on numerous occasions because the vehicle will not stop.all of these examples happen sporadically but often.my traction light and abs light come on and i receive a warning on my dash stating "service brake assist".i have been very lucky so far that i have not been in or caused an accident, but i am extremely fearful that eventually this will happen.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. While driving 45 mph, the brake fluid indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the brake fluid hose became rusted, which caused brake fluid to leak from the hose onto the ground. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
I noticed that, when driving very slowly and turning sharply to left and braking car would shudder and feel like brakes not working.finally, one day it would not stop and i almost hit a car.took in to service center and abs system in wheel had to be replaced.now i am having similar experiences again and "check brake assist" and "abs" warning lights on.when this car was 6 mos old, the abs assembly had to be replaced.it seems that this is a design flaw in the car but cadillac does not acknowledge. Is intermittent problem and if i turn off the engine and start from straight drive, problem does not occur or register in warning system.
When the car is in motion, turning slightly or sharply into a parking spot, approaching a stop sign or red light to make a left or right turn at low speeds, the brake pedal begins to lock up when pressing on it to stop. Upon looking into this problem, more other people have replaced the hub and ebcm several times and the issue was still recurring. Unfortunately, the fault or problem that created this unsafe condition is still unknown by gm.
Abs and traction control light comes on , car will not brake on low speed levels .
Pulling into a parking space at my childs daycare facility and my traction control light and abs light came on as vehicle was stopping and began to accelerate then came to a stop. To my understanding gm has not issued a recall or a fix.
Lost 95% of the braking capacity while in traffic. Later found upon repair completely rusted brake lines at the passenger side line abs junction. Loss of brake fluid and brake function ensued.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while turning at various speeds, the brakes failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Turning sharp right at about 2 mph to pull into a parking space in a garage.applied brakes and car kept moving.had to stomp on the brakes with all my might to stop the car from hitting a wall.no power braking at all.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 8 mph and attempting to engage the brakes, the vehicle failed to respond and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle by shifting into the park position. An independent mechanic was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I have a 2006 cts cadilliac and my abs light comeson and there have been several times my car wouldn't stop and i had to quickly put it in park not to have an accident
Slow speed brakes applied absactivates dry roads no wheel slipping car will not slow down must shift tonapply emergency brakes.
Brakes fail when making sharp turns. I contacted gm and they claim to have never heard of the problem,i've had it fixed last year and it is starting to happen again.
While making a right turn pulling into a parking spot the vehicle failed to stop until it hit the curb. Since then it has happened several other occasions very sporadic but the situation is the same while pulling in to a parking spot brakes fail to engage as if i have no brake assist. Today it happen again this time i hit a gate causing damage to my front bumper as well as the gate. I understand that this is a on going problem and gmc has failed to acknowledge. Please help us before it causes someone's life because of a fatal accident caused by this problem.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while turning and depressing the brakes, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.
While very slowly turning into a parking spot my 2006 cadillac cts acted as though the abs was engaging and would not stop. I had to manually put the transmission into park to stop. This has now happened 4 times under similar scenarios. Each time this happens 'service brake assist' appears on the driver display and the t/c and abs lights come on. After the car has been shut off and then restarted the display is normal, dash light s are out and things work normal, until it does it again.i am in canada, but after researching this problem have found many, many similar incidences and felt adding to the list may help to engage gm to issue a recall.
I just think this needs documenting. My rear brakes leaked fluid and went completely empty about 7 years ago and i had no brakes. Fortunately, i was going slowly and close to home. I had the car towed and they replaced a section of the lines. Cost $208 plus tow.a short time later gm recalled the car because of rusting problems in the front of the car. It was repaired under the recall. Last week i was sitting at a light and my brake pedal began to move closer to the floor. The fluid did not completely leak out and i was close to home and got to my mechanic just as the brakes went completely. This time there was rust in one line near the engine. They said it was behind the fuel filter. He spliced in pieces to both lines. Cost $187. I have owned about 20 cars and never had any problems of this nature, never mind 3 times. Three problems in a potentially life threatening situation is the reason i am notifying you. I looked online and a number of others expressed things concerning this. Thank you.
My back center brake light no longer works and since this was pointed out to me earlier this month, i have noticed at least four other cts cars with the same issue. They range from my year ('06) to at least 2009. And when quoted a price ($600+!) i balked at having it replaced. Anyone else notice this or have this issue?
Brakes fault on slow sped lock to have bad abs module
2006 cad cts-frustrated owner (dealership has milked me dry and still experience same issues, already paid dealership in the last year: passenger airbag light ($495) rear differential ($600+) and now possibly spending $600+ on a defect fix guess ? manifold ).
The brakes fail especially when turning right.i have taken it to two mechanics and they tell me they cannot fix it. I've talked with the dealer and they were not helpful. So i am now stuck with a vehicle i cannot repair, sell or drive. I understand there is a class action suit against gm. I don"t know if it would be helpful but i would like to be included. I need the car daily and cannot rely on it since it is a continual problem. Can you help?
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. While reversing out of a parking space at approximately 2 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not stop. The contact observed that the brake hose had ruptured and the check brake fluid level warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v105000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was 110,000.
The brakes on the cars leak fluid and the brake not working proper, want stop car after you apply brake stop a stop sign, and will try to go with brake down. Not safe. Had brake pad put on. Drake still having problem.
When turning slowly into parking spaces the breaks go out and do not work causing the car to either hit or run up the curbing.this happens often enough that we are becoming scared to drive car.we have taken it to multiple dealers and they say they cannot fixt the issue.
It happened to me several times when turning into parking space or pulling out of parking space my 2006 cadillac cts 3.5 did not stop while braking the car in either direction.during that i felt a shudder sound coming out of front wheels and brake pedal traveled all the way to floor. At the same time a message ?service brakes assist? appeared on the vehicle information display window and the abs and traction control warning lights were turned on in the dash board. I took my car to more cadillac local dealer at chantilly, va. And get it checked in reference to recall # 09149, but he told me that is not the issue because the front brake hose fitting are not corroded and he could not replicate the issue.i contacted gm customer service on 11/06/2014 and explained the situation of the issue.they assigned me a reference # [xxx] and we had a conference call with the moore cadillac service advisor. It seems like the gm and moore dealer advisor are not admitting that is a manufacturerissue, but i have read several similar complaints on the www.safecar.gov site and fee like that it is a gm manufacturer issue and could cause a fatal accident. Currently, mileage on the car is only 59,200 and i noticed this issue at mileage 55,000.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The brakes fail often when the car is making turns at slow speeds.this has caused a few minor accidents in my parking garage.the problem is well documented on the below link, but it looks like gm has failed to do anything about it. Http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0f480a/29.
Without any prior warning my brake lines had corroded noting "service-brake assist on console. This resulted in loss of braking. Cadillac recall # 09149. I contacted cadillac. They refuse to consider repair of defect. Vehicle was in motion.
Several times i have experienced that when turning right into a parking space my car does not want to come to a stop,my brakes becomehard and to come to a stop i have to keep pumping the brakes.i am very scared to even go into a parking space.dont know if my car is gonna stop or keep going.the first time this happened to me is when first purchased the car,but being that u can use this car as stick or standard i thought maybe i did something wrong,i almost went into my apartment building.i am afraid that i might get into an accident with my grandchildren in the car or even hit someone walking.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while entering a parking spot at low speeds, the vehicle failed to respond to deceleration attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under nhtsa campaign number 10v105000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but the failure recurred. The contact was unsure of the exact repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Every time i turn a hard left or right into a parking spacemy car looses its brakes & my service brakes assist light goes on.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the traction control and the abs warning lights illuminated. In addition, the braking system malfunctioned. The braking failure almost caused the contact to become involved in a crash. The contact shifted into park while the vehicle was still in motion in order to avoid crashing. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The contact called the manufacturer and was advised that the rotors had likely become worn. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The "service brake assist" comes at various times and the car does not brake properly. I am afraid that i will hit another car or person.
2006 cts brakes fail when slowing turning and braking.
Coming of the turnpike this morning and when i tried to stop my car it kept going i had to put my car in park so that the car could come to a stop. This has not been my first time dealing with this problem when turning into a parking space my car does the same thing. I have took my car to the dealer and they found nothing wrong with the car.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts.while driving 20 mph, the vehicle began driving roughly.when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle would rev as if it were attempting to accelerate.on october 9, 2007, while backing out of a parking space with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle lunged forward and made a loud noise.the vehicle crashed into a tree.the brakes did not work and the steering wheel would not turn.the air bags failed to deploy.the vehicle sustained front end damage, including the two front tires.the contact has pictures.the contact sustained a concussion, has headaches and dizzy spells, 50% hearing loss, and cracked two front teeth.a police report was filed.the vehicle was repaired, but still rides roughly.nhtsa campaign id number 07v589000 (suspension: rear axle: spindle) was referenced.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 5,623 and failure mileage was 5,548.
Abs light comes on and vehicle will not brake at slow speeds while turning. Very dangerous!
2006 cadillac cts.consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake pedal issues.the consumer stated when she applied the brake to slow down, to make a turn, a noise was immediately heard. Once she stopped, a burning smell was present and the brakes did not have the same feel as the pedal felt loose and very close to the floor. She managed to make it to her destination. Once she parked, the burning smell was very noticeable and the rim on the left front tire was very hot.the next day, she had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. A few days later, they informed the consumer, the caliper had locked up on the drier's front wheel and the brake hoses needed to be replaced, all at a cost of $ 1500.00. The dealer stated there were no recalls on the vehicle. However, when the consumer returned home she discovered her vehicle was recall in 2010.
My wife and i purchased a 2006 cadillac cts with an extended warranty in 2008. Ever since we've had it, we've experienced intermittent braking failure at low speeds while turning. Yesterday this issue caused my wife to bump another vehicle while parking. This problem is especially dangerous as it only happens occasionally so it catches the driver off guard. We have sent cadillac a description of the issue in fall of 2010 but they never even responded. We took the car to the dealer and they said that it would be covered under warranty but they cannot replicate the issue. There are forums of people who've had the same issue. We just want the issue fixed as other than that, we like the car. This has even happened at intersections and fortunately there was no one coming. This issue may have already resulted in death or serious injury elsewhere and we would like the manufacturer to acknowledge the issue and correct it before someone else is injured or killed.
My 2006 cadillac my brake alert system came on.on 07/09, i took the cadillac cts (29,462 miles) to tracy cadillac explained to todd in maintenance/serv my alert came on & to please look into it.on july 10th todd called me and stated that it needs new brakes & possible new rotors.at such low miles on a 18 month old car i could not believe he was telling me this, he said this this is "normal".as a consumer i can't believe that new brakes/rotors are required so soon & don't consider this "normal wear & tear".we paid for a sturdy vehicle with a good reputation i e-mailed cadillac corp and here is a partial response -let me know if you want the full e-mail)(their response dated july 24 from customer relationship specialist:meghan maclennan)the front brake pad lining used in today's cadillac is far different than what was used in the past. Brake pads manufactured today contain no asbestos. Most vehicles manufactured in past years used a lining containing asbestos. There are many factors behind the change in the design of today's braking systems; federal government guidelines, service life, noise level, stopping ability, fade resistance and environmental effects.therefore, automobile manufacturers have moved into a new era in brake pad composition, balancing long lasting metallic materials with softer materials, which offset brake "squeal" inherent in a more metallic pad. This new material is much safer to the environment because of the elimination of asbestos, but a trade off might be shorter pad life, depending on braking usage and conditions.brake pad and lining replacement is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and is considered a maintenance item. Rotor and drum resurfacing or replacement is also not covered under warranty, unless it is a direct result of a defect in materials or workmanship. At this time the dealership does not feel there is any defect in the materials or workmanship and is considered normal wear and tear.
2006 cts. While in bumper to bumper traffic i felt the car "hydroplane" for a second.it wasn't raining and i saw nothing in the rear view mirror to cause it. I continued on at about 30mph and began to depress the brake slowly as a red light was ahead.the brakes did not engage and i plowed into the car in front of me. Cadillac repair can find nothing wrong. Now i'm frightened to drive the car again. Something has to be wrong yet i can get no assistance.
Dt*: the contact stated while applying slight brake pressure at 55 mph in stop and go traffic on the highway, all four wheels locked, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floorboard without warning.the contact attempted to disengage the brakes by pumping the pedal up and down.afterwards, the vehicle operated at a reduced speed, and hesitated to accelerate as though brake pressure was being applied.the dealer was alerted.

Fatal car crash resulted in death of driver (only person in the automobile).history of service brakes hydraulic problem on the 2006 cadillac cts--pressing brake pedal and lunging or sudden abnormal acceleration with loss of steering.
Rubbing noise in steering column.sounds like plastic being stressed when turning steering wheel. Vehiclehas been serviced on 3 occasions (grommets lubricated) at 2 different cadillac dealerships and noise has not been eliminated.will be returning cts back to dealer again in the next few days. Also noted popping noise in dash panel. Noise noted as a flaw in design of vehicle be one dealer unrepairable. Noise detracts from pleasure of owning a cadillac.
The rear driver's side panel that held the air bag came apart.i have not taken the vehicle to the dealer yet.if this panel is not in correctly and the air bag deploys, the panel may not separate correctly and cause injury to any passenger.

My car started making "clunking" sounds every time placed it in drive.after doing some research on line, i came up with a recall gm was doing on my car. According to gm, there was a bad rear differential seal, and that oil may leak out. Well that's exactly what happened to my car. Not only did the differential fluid leak out but the bushing broke as will. The dealership covered the fluid leak repair (recall)...but said thebusing broke because of were and tear...not because of the oil leak.they quoted me over $500 to repair whenthis wouldn't of happened had the seal been good in the first place!

I purchased a used cadillac cts from bill jacobs in joliet, il (jefferson st.) i paid for the car with my trade a 07 hummer h3 in perfect working order. I was also to receive payment in cash from the dealership for the difference, which to date i have not received. Within 24 hours the car started to vibrate, i contacted the dealer prior to 24 hours being up and notified them that there was something wrong with the car, that had already been certified by the dealership mechanics. I brought the car in for service, and was given a loaner. I explained to several representatives that i was concerned that the car was not reliable and did not have a good feeling about keeping the car due to it being certified by a mechanic and still having mechanical difficulties. The dealer offered to fix the vehicle, i oblidged. The service manager stated that there was an issue with the tires, possibly due to the rims but he needed additional time to determine what the issue was. I spoke with the sales manager and told him that my confidence in his dealership was 0 and that i wanted to just give them the cadillac back and take my reliable car back. John the manager stated that was not going to happen. I explained to him that the car was sold with a mechanical defect and that i had no confidence that this would be a reliable car. I went into the dealership today (09/11) the third day with no car and explained that i was not comfortable with the dealership or thier ability to provide a reliable car to me in the price range that had been negotiated with the previous deal. They outright refused to give me my trade in back and said it was too late. They were unwilling to sell it back to me at the price of the deal for trade and recommended i pick another car on the lot. As was the issue with my original visit, there was no other car i was interested in. I like the car i bought and would have been a pleased consumer had that car not been a defect. I of course became hysterical because th.
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle independently slowed down after the traction engaged warning indicator illuminated. The contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle's speed rapidly increased; however, the speed began to independently slow down. Pulling into a parking space at my childs daycare facility and my traction control light and abs light came on as vehicle was stopping and began to accelerate then came to a stop. To my understanding gm has not issued a recall or a fix.
Vehicle stopped twice on me without warning security light came on it stop while i driving i was turning and hit a hole in road.
I am reporting that i had an incident with my key being stuck in the ignition, the key could not be removed from the ignition.the car was taken to the dealer who said it was a computer problem.a refurbished part was used to replace the part in the ecm. It cost $791. 19 to correct the situation, within 5 days it happened again. The part was deemed faulty and replaced. Please review and determine if my car should have been on the recall list. Thanks.
3/15/2018 console lite up, showing symbol for "emission control" problem appeared on my instrument panel while i was driving. 3/19/2018 had vehicle checked. Advised catalytic converter needs replacement. Cadillac contacted - they deny any recall issued. Vehice original mileage 91632
The service air bag light came on and has deactivated the passenger side air bag.the problem is being caused by the passenger seat sensor.this is the same issue that is already on the recall for 2005-2007 cadillac cts, but according to the cadillac dealer, the recall does not involve my vin.i suggest that the nhsta review the recall and add all 2005 - 2007 cadillac cts vehicles that display the air bag error be included on the recall.
Previously this p2138 has occurred. I was cleared with a computer scanner.the car drove normalanother date my wife was driving (in motion)on california highway 62 in the city of yucca valley california 92284 when the cts suddenly lost power coming to a complete stop. She had the car towed to our house. We put a scanner on the computer which reads p2138 accelerator pedal position sensor (apps) error code. The scanner was used to clear the code. The cts drove normal.i reviewed for any recall for 2006 cts on p2138. There were p2138 recall for the 2006 cts -v only. There were no recalls for the 2006 cts sedan having my vin#.on 4 january 2017 i was driving(in motion) the 2006 cts on lerrera ave twenty-nine palms, california 92277 when the cts lost power to 5 mph. I was able to pull over to a side street. I used the computer scanner to clear the code in order to get home. Because this has occurred the third time later that day on the 4 january 2017 we had the tow truck bring the cts to jessup cadillac 68-11 east canyon drive, cathedral city, california 92234 ( over 60 miles away)for diagnostic. I was called by the dealership asking what was the issue. I explained the code was p2138 the vehicle lost power. Also, i explained the code was cleared in order for me to get home. The accelerator pedal position sensor was replaced. So far no issues in 45 days. I have attached my repaired invoice. I would like to be reimbursed by gm for the expenses this malfunction has caused.i would like to know why gm did not do a recall for my 2006 cts?also, i am grateful my wife and i was able to pull over out of the flow of traffic.it would be disastrous if were in a metropolitan area with heavy traffic.
2006 cts engine raced at high speeds when backing up without any pressure to the gas pedal.the first time the incident happened, there was damage done to the drivers side tire, however the second incident resulted in the vehicle racing down the driveway, across the street and into a neighbors house, which caused considerable damage to the house and the car. The vehicle was totaled.
Fatal car crash resulted in death of driver (only person in the automobile).history of service brakes hydraulic problem on the 2006 cadillac cts--pressing brake pedal and lunging or sudden abnormal acceleration with loss of steering.
I was at a stop sign when i tried to press down on the gas the car started tug and it would only do that on the first gear one mechanic said that it has to do with the fuel system and i kept testing the car out and i kept pressing on the gas to see if there was a difference but it kept doing the same thing as the first time
It happened to me several times when turning into parking space or pulling out of parking space my 2006 cadillac cts 3.5 did not stop while braking the car in either direction.during that i felt a shudder sound coming out of front wheels and brake pedal traveled all the way to floor. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts v. The contact stated that the clips for the floor mats broke. The mat became lodged under the brake and accelerator pedals causing the clutch to not fully engage. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who gave him replacement clips which broke several times. The dealer refused to replace the mats. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

2006 cad cts-frustrated owner (dealership has milked me dry and still experience same issues, already paid dealership in the last year: passenger airbag light ($495) rear differential ($600+) and now possibly spending $600+ on a defect fix guess ? manifold ).
Around3:30 p.m , i noticed my car was jerking very hard , it changed gears hard , i lost power , it was hard to pick up speed , and when i arrived home 20 minutes later , it started smoking uncontrollably.
I own a 2006 cadillac cts which i've had for two years. Last night while parked in my garage, my sunroof shattered. After inspection i noticed that no debris had fallen on it and to my knowledge there were no existing cracks or scratches. I looked into it and reviewed multiple complaints and the fact thenhtsa has investigated this problem with cadillac before. I am taking the vehicle to a cadillac dealer tomorrow, but after speaking to them on the phone they made it clear that they think the sunroof shattering was a result of something i did.
Windshield wiper motor will not shut off once turned on.intermittent does not work at all.must stop the vehicle, turn off the motor and remove the key from ignition in order to stop the windshield wipers.everytime the wipers are turned on this happens...everytime.how does someone drive on a freeway having to stop their vehicle everytime they need to turn on a windshield wiper?this defect is on thousands of cts's...maybe hundreds of thousands of cadillacs according to the website clubs.... And is a $1,000 repair.gm should fix this defect for free.it is extremely dangerous while driving.
The windshield wipers will not turn off. They continue to go. I have to turn off the engine and take the key out of the ignition for them to stop.
2006 cadillac cts with faulty brakes. Consumer states that all the servicemen at the dealer completely ignored her when she got there for the repair on her vehicle.she believes the workers at the dealer are practicing racism/discrimination.the rear view mirror was broken, the fuel gauge was fluctuating, the brake system, abs and traction control lights illuminated. The consumer stated when she turned into a parking space, a loud dragging noise was heard and felt. Even though her foot was on the brake, the vehicle continued to roll, and growl. Updated 06/09/08
Windshield wiper motors fail.it is an expensive repair. This is a big safety issue and reported by many cadillac owners.

The contact stated that while driving 40 mph the front passenger tire lug nuts failed, which caused the tire to detach from the vehicle. A technician concluded that the lug nuts sheared off the tires bolts.the vehicle was repaired at an expense of $1000.00. After the repair the failure resurfaced. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer in which the technician concluded that all of the wheels had the failure. The vehicle is in the process of being repaired at an expense of 2500.00. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure mileage was 50,000. The current mileage was 55,000.
