2005 cadillac cts- while traveling @35 mph was struck on drivers side door by chevrolet 2500 series truck.cts was pushed sideways toward curb where it turned on its side, no airbags had deployed, resulting in head injuries, lacerations and trauma.

We keep getting a message on the car screen that the front passenger side airbag is off when the car is started whether someone is sitting in the seat or not. Code is b0092 passenger detection error. Just recently bought car and registered it, cadillac dealers says no recall for this safety issue. It is in fact an issue if we are in a car accident, the police will ask first thing about the airbag. Just thankful we know about this issue before something ever happens. Code just came up today december 19, 2017.

My vehicle has a recall on the air bag pressure sensor module.due to missing the cutoff date of exactly 1 month the dealership would not honor the pairs.due to the $650 repairs required i was not prepared to have that service done.any assistance or clarity on this is greatly appreciated.

The "service air bag" light came on. Brought the car to the dealership on 2/26/2010. The said the seat weight sensing module was bad and offered to repair it at about $611.00. They said it was not covered by any warranty or recall. I called cadillac customer service on 2/22/2011 after discovering recall # 10v644000. I spoke to a man named john who said the recall does not apply to that vin, and refused to help or to refer me to a supervisor. Similarly, around the same time, i had to have the ecu re-flashed at a cost of$110.00, because the car was shuddering under acceleration. I got the same answer, even though i advised them of recall #06v020000, that my vin was not covered under that recall.it appears that this is a deliberate effort by cadillac not to avoid performing recalls. I request that this vin be included in the above referenced recalls, and that cadillac's pattern of behavior be investigated.

I am the owner of a 2005 cadillac cts which was not included in the airbag recall, according to the nhtsa and gm websites, but has the same year, make, model, and defective airbag as the ones included. I took my cadillac to get a 27 point inspection, oil change, etc., on 2/16/18, and i was informed that the front seat airbag sensor needed to be replaced because it was not working. My vehicle should be included in the gm manufacturing recall of takata airbags.

Passenger seat sensor would not come on with passenger in seat. Looked up and there was a recall. Called cadillac and was told no recall

Came to a stop waiting for a car ahead of me to make a left hand turn. Was then contacted by another vehicle from behind that was traveling at an estimated 60 mph. My cts-v was then pushed into the car in frontcausing significant damage to that vehicle, and crushing my front end. Of all airbags in the cts-v, not one deployed.

The contact owned a 2005 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact's vehicle was t-boned on the driver side by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained an injury to the left shoulder that required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. A failure code was found at the passenger sensing system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 10v644000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 180,000.

Air bags were repaired 10/10/11, recall #10355. This was done at my own expense. The air bag indicator is once again on.i was not reimbursed for the first repair. I would very much like to have this corrected by the manufacture, without any personal expense.

Brake system failure: i was driving on the highway and had to execute an emergency stop going approximately 30 mph on a cool dry road. When i did, the car power, engine, electrical system shut down and refused to brake any more than it did prior to my slamming on the brakes. My momentum would have carried me into the car positioned only a few feet in front of me if i hadn't the presence of mind to instinctively pull off onto the shoulder as to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me. I hadto put the car into park in order to be restart it. Immediately i noticed that the brakes felt substantially different. The system lost enough pedal pressure that stopping after that incident required me to drive at low speeds and give myself more distance; thankfully, i still had some ability to stop, at that time. I inspected the brake lines and hoses after parking the vehicle that the steel brake lines had fluid dripping from them. I also noticed that the driver front wheel well liner had a spray of brake fluid that covered the interior portion of the liner, proximally, behind the rim and tire sidewall. I had tested the brakes after that and have no braking ability. I have not touched it since that incident.the rest is ongoing and is separate from the incident reported above.air bags: the system keeps telling me that the airbag system needs to be serviced. I've read the recall info regarding other cadillac cars and mine meets the same criteria but has no recall notice. Something about this coincidence doesn't make sense...engine: internal timing chain tensioner has failed and i hear a noticeable ticking of the chain slapping against the sidewall that is emanating from the passenger side of the engine. I have seen, read, heard of other individual owner testimonials that talk about this being an issue that cadillac refuses to acknowledge.

I have a 2005 cadillac cts with 67,000 miles. Since about 65,000 miles car has been making a rattling sound under the hood during acceleration. I have given the car a tune up, oil change and the car has other fluids are at level. Once my car has accelerated and the gears have changed (i.e, second gear) the rattling sounds stops..the noise is continuous and only happens at acceleration, not while idling. In addition every now and again when a front seat passenger gets in the car the airbag sensor/light comes on the dashboard. This problem doesn't happen often but it happens every once in a while. Upon doing my research for both these issues i find that i am not the only one having this problem...hopefully something will be done so that gm can address these serious issues without having the consumer/owners having to pay an arm and a leg.

Takata airbags. Airbag light stays on. Per trouble cods the problem is related to the passinger side seat.

We are trying to find out if the installed part 19259297: n-module kit (14865-k) is defective. We had this part replaced twice -- once on 7/25/14 at 42,943 miles, and, again on 10/11/16 at 46,589 miles. Although the part does not appear to be under a current recall for our vin number, perhaps someone needs to review it since we've had to replace it twice within a little over a two-year period. We've contacted cadillac directly and they are not willing to research the safety or adequacy of this part. We had the part replace at steve foley cadillac (northbrook, il).

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the when the vehicle was turned on, a "service air bag" warning light illuminated. In addition, the "air bag off" light illuminated on the rear view mirror. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

A passenger (6'2" 200 lb.) man sat in the passenger seat and as result, the passenger air bag light went onthe instrument panel. I figured it was a sensor that must have snapped or come loose. I went to cadillac dealer and they charge $140. To diagnose the problem and then wanted another $300 to repair it. At no time did they tell me there was a recall for this type of incident. I just called the number for cadillac listed on the recall website and spoke with someone, who after i gave him the vin number on the car, said my car was not part of the recall. He recommended that i call the dealer and have that taken care of...on my dime. It seems ridiculous that i should get stuck paying for this. This is why i will never buy another gm car and many people that i speak with, have purchased mercedes and other foreign made cars. Apparently cadillac does not stand behind their products. Too bad.

Vehicle stopped detecting person sitting in passenger front seat. Passenger airbag remains off when there is a passenger. Service message appears on dash stating to service airbag. This is a safety issue that could cause the front passenger airbag to not deploy in an accident. There is a recall on 2005-2007 cadillac cts models however, there is no recall on mine for some reason. There is nothing that could have caused this issue other than faulty equipment that should be recognized by gm.

My us navy son was driving my 2005 cadillac cts when he was struck in the rear by a negligent driver.the crash was so severe, he was forced into 3 more cars-totaling my car.all safety features failed - including all airbags and the seat belt.my son was spared, but he did suffer injuries.i have spent countless hours attempting resolve with gm for some answers - all to no avail.they spent several hours with my vehicle, yet passed it over to their 3rd party insurance company - who in turn took zero accountability and had the nerve to put it all back on us (preserving the car and providing more documentation).what more documentation do you need?you saw the failed seat belt, you saw my sons injuries and you witnessed all failures with the airbags.i have now retained an attorney; and i filed a formal complaint with the consumer product safety administration.i am so grateful for your recent breaking news and the ongoing investigation, involving the cadillac cts models.i feel strongly that this is not an isolated incident / defect - i have plenty of back up to assist with your investigation, including eye witness accounts, photography and my attempts for resolve this matter with general motors.please, please do not close out your investigation as being a front passenger airbag issue only.you could be saving many lives from the hardships my family have had to endure with this obvious safety issue. Airbag on no passenger airbag. Lights inside work sometimes.car was moving.

The airbag sensor light just came on even though the car has never been in a wreck.although, this was issued a recall it is only on certain cars of that year.the problem has been acknowledged so not sure why all cars in this year range are not fixed on the recall since this is an acknowledged safety issue. This light comes on as soon as the car is started.is cadillac going to take responsibility if the airbag goes off or does not go off in an accident?this is a safety feature that should be fixed by cadillac.

Front passenger airbag sensor shorted out and required replacement.both cadillac dealership and gm indicating that my vin # doesn't apply as part of the gm safety recall 100355 nhtsa id 10v644000 which means i am responsible for the cost of part and labor for the fix.

I was involved in a serious head on collision with an oncoming car. My car was severely damaged and no air bags deployed causing me to get 10 stitches, a fractured nose, neck, back, chest and abdominal pain. The air bags were serviced less than a year ago at the specific brand car dealer but this did not help. This was not the first time the air bags did not deploy.there were no stop signs or traffic signals to prevent this and also the double yellow lines in the middle of the intersection seem to be at fault. If the driver of both sides stays next to it the cars will hit each other.

I have a cadillac cts for about two years now and just a couple of days ago the airbag light came on that it needed to be serviced and i took it to a dealer and they told me it was the passenger air bag that it would cost me approx: 649.38 dollars and i have seen where some of the cadillac cts have been recalled for the same problem and the dealer repaired some of the recalled cars but the dealer advised me not to drive it due to that if we had a crash the air bags may not deploy and i have no other vechile to drive i have a wife and three kids that ride in this car and i cant afford to have the service performed i just want to know how can they perform recalls on certian vechiles is it so they will fix half of them and the other half would have to pay to get the service done to help make up for the money they lost due to the recall also i have a car the dealer dont want me to drive i have babies and doctor appts that they have to be taken to. And if i was to have to take my kids to a doc appt and someone hit me and the airbags didnt deploy and someone got killed i pray not but who to say it wouldnt be a lawsuit because some are recalled and some not and now they want to charge a arm and a leg to get the problem resolved i don't think its fair we should have to pay for a problem like this plus how can we afford it whenever our wonderful state pays us minimum wage and the cost of living is outrageous.

Takata recall - owned car since 2007, never notified of airbag recall.service air bag light came on and i took car to mechanic on 3/15/15.advised of recall.called cadillac cust. Serv. Recall was removed 12/15/14 and told there was nothing they could do.have been searching for help since.my car is unsafe.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts-v. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was causing a distraction while driving. The dealer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 71,200 and current mileage was 71,448.

4/12/2010 - i was slowing down preparing to turn into my development when another driver ran a stop sign.the other driver was going approximately 20 mph, she stated that she did not see my car,but saw the oncoming cars and the cars behind me so she didn't prepare to stop at the stop sign.she was trying to beat the oncoming vehicles and the traffic behind me aggressively accelerating and impact was my driver's side front door.we both had our seat belts on, her air bags deployed, mine did not.her car was totaled. The impact was just like a wrecking ball coming out of nowhere. The impact was so that my struts had to be replaced.i had sustained traumatic brain injury (tbi) and i'm still recovering, that is why it's taken this long to submit a complaint.my car was towed to the cadillac body shop for the body work and tutwiler was to take care of the mechanical issues. When i picked up my car at tutwiler cadillac they would not provide me any of the paperwork for the repairs or anything in writing as to why the air bags did not deploy, i was told that the itemized receipt would go to her insurance company since they were paying for the work to be done. The chiropractor bill was in excess of 7,000.00 and my medical (still recovering) but has exceeded well over 40,000.00.the electrical issues, bad radio, carpet, bell housing leak, exhaust system, gas gauge should have all been repaired under warranty when i took the car in on 1/5/2009 while the car was still under warranty. I was not aware of the air bag issue not deploying unfortunately until the accident in april of 2010.

The airbag sensing system for the passenger seat has failed.this is a known issue for gm who handled it by means of a "service accommodation" that extended the warranty to 100,000 miles.if it was handled as a recall it would have required them to make the needed repairs no matter what, they are dodging their responsibility by handling it in this manner and will not provide any support for consumers once you pass the expiration.this is fraud.

Takata recall had wreck air bag did not deploy at the time it should have, rush in ambulance to hospitalcar was on highway going straight,

Per report tje suspension system and aorbag recall.when i purchased vehicle, information was warrant to me.i total loss my car due to suspension and axle malfuntion. It caused me to hit a curb. I could not gain control.

The service airbag light illuminated in my car. The passenger seat sensor does not activate when someone is sitting in the seat, and therefore the airbag does not turn on. This was a noticed recall for this year of car, but when i searched my vin, my car does not qualify.

Dt: 2005 cadillac cts - thecaller's vehicle was involved in an accident while driving at 55 mph.upon impact, air bags did not deploy.the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree.this was on the driver's side front.there were no indicator lights on prior to the accident.the vehicle has not been inspected by the dealership, and insurance company totaled the vehicle.the caller sawno reason for the air bags not todeploy. .two injured were injuredin this crash.t a police reportwas taken. There was no fire.

My "service air bag" light came on recently and i also noticed that the passenger airbag would detect a person in the passenger seat.i went online to discover that there was a recall on 2005 cadillac cts models.when i took my car to the gm dealership they stated that there was no recall for my car and said that they could look at it but i would be charged to fix it.i then called my nearest cadillac dealership and they also stated that my car had no recalls on it and that i could take it in to be fixed but they would charge me.my vehicle only has 68,000 miles and i feel that my vehicle should be included in the recall for this issue.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that as a passenger exited the vehicle, the passenger air bag warning light illuminated. When the air bag service switch was engaged the illumination would stop although the front air bag warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure occurrences were continuous whether the front passenger seat was occupied or not. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed the contact that both the passenger sensing system and the passenger seat would need to be replaced to correct the failure. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v644000 (air bags: frontal: sensor/control module) but the contacts vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. In january i heard there was a recallon the 2005 cadillac cts for a possible failure of the passenger seat air bag sensor.in late february while on vacation, the air bag service light came on every time i started my car. I then noticed the passenger air bag on/off message on the rear view mirror showed the air bag was off all the time. Even when someone was in the passenger seat it showed off.upon returning from vacation in early march, i called the cadillac dealer where i purchased the vehicle in december 2004 and was told that according to general motors records my vehicle was not involved in the recall for the air bag sensor (10v-644000). I then called cadillac customer assistance and was told the same thing. I asked why my vehicle was not involved when it appeared i was having the problem addressed in the recall. I was told i could wait to see if it would be in the future and i told the representative that if i waited it would negate the purpose of having a passenger air bag if it would not work. I was told i could have the repairs completed at my expense but as far as they were concerned my vehicle was not in the previously mentioned recall. On march 7, 2001 i had the vehicle check at my local repair shop and they verified the passenger seat occupant sensor had to be replaced. They installed the new module kit and it cost me $451.78. I called cadillac customer assistance and was told my vehicle was not involved in the recall even though i had the problem addressed in the recall. I'm seeking reimbursement for repairs that should have been fixed under recall 10v-64000.

I went to cadillac to get the recall fixed they said it was closed out and couldn't fix it and now i can't smog my car and i can't tell if i have gas or not and i'm scared to drive it without getting the fuel pump fixed

The engine light flashes on for 2 seconds, then the car decelerates for seconds, and then all is okay.this may happen several times in a row within 5 to 10 minutes.we first had the battery and alternator replaced, as suggested.then this happened 4 more times, whereas we took it to a dealer who could not find anything wrong.it's hard to feel safe while driving this vehicle as it's happened at major intersections and also in heavy traffic.

The instrument panel stopped operating, different mechanics could not locate problem, cadillac deal wanted 200.00 just to review.several owners of same mocel having same problem.dealears refuse to correct or even look at the cause without customers paying for service call.this seems to be a common problem with this car, as others having same problem.i have been told it's faulty electrical cluster in instrument panel and car is now out of warrenty, but was withing warranty at time of occurance, i failed to take to dealer in timely manner.can anything be do ne about this.i now have 87,000 miles on car.

Takata recall-not notified of airbag recall.recall withdrawn december 2014.march of 2015 my passenger airbag light came on.took to my certified gm mechanic, checked it out and sent me to chuck fairbanks (dealer) because of recall.this is when i was told the recall had been withdrawn.i have been searching for help with this dangerous matter since.i need more information on who and what to do regarding getting the services needed.it is no longer a safe car for me to have a passenger with me.i did call cadillac customer service and they said they could do nothing about it.i am not financially able to make this repair, retired, elderly and on ss.can you please advise me where and what to do next?i have owned cadillacs since 1985 and never encountered not being notified of recalls.please notify me of any assistance you may be able to advise me of atp. I leased a 2005 cadillac cts in july of 2005 for a 3 year lease agreement.since i have had the car it has been in the dealership 5+ times for issues.battery has been replaced, recall on the fuel gauge, drivers door handle plastic peeled and was replaced, radio replaced due to radio buttons peeling.during the first 9 months of my lease i noticed that the radio buttons (channels 1-6) began to peel.the synthetic material is very soft and cheap (acknowledged by the dealer).i alerted the dealer and told them what was occurring and they said bring the car in and we'll fix it.the service manager at colonial cadillac acknowledged that the synthetic material could be easily rubbed off with any type of oils (hands, fingers, lotions, etc.), and cadillac would fix the issues when it occurs.the dealership replaced the entire radio (even though just a few buttons were torn) with no cost to me.on another occasion the drivers side door handle was also peeling.the peeling was the same issue as the radio buttons.i called the dealership and brought the car in to have the handle replaced, and the dealership replaced it with no cost to me.in november 2006, the same issue re-occurred with my radio buttons (buttons 1 & 2).i made an appointment to have the car be brought into the dealership and the service manager said they would fix the radio by replacing the radio once again.in early december 2006 i put an air freshener in the vent (one of those air fresheners that attach to the vent with oils).a very small amount of the oils spilled onto the vent and the top of the radio causing the cheap synthetic materials to peel.the dealership refused to fix. I could not find one instance in my lease agreement that says if the synthetic material on your dashboard, radio and door handles is not covered.i would appreciate any assistance as i have searched the internet and found many other drivers with the same issue.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts.while driving approximately 55 mph, the rear wheels locked up without warning.the vehicle came to a screeching halt.the vehicle restarted eventually, but would not move forward.the vehicle had to be towed.the ecm was replaced approximately seven hours prior to the failure.the current mileage was 31,175 and failure mileage was 31,152.updated 03-18-08 the battery was replaced, the side mirrors were inoperative and the struts were worn.

I was driving home from work when the security light came on the dash and a "service anti theft system" message came on the radio. The entire dash quit working, radio went off, power steering stopped working and i was driving without knowing how fast i was going or what was going on. After i got the car home and parked it, i shut it off and came inside. When i went out the next morning to start it, nothing happened. The dash lights up, everything works but the gas gauge and temperature gauge, but the car doesn't start or even attempt to turn over. The security message and service air bag message shows on the radio. I was told that it may be the key so i purchased a new one from moses cadillac and attempted it but a new message came up "ignition start disabled, remove key." i can't do anything with it, the entire car is locked up and won't start so i can't even get it to the dealer to be looked at. When you're in it and turn the key on all the doors lock, you can hear the fuel pump start, and nothing else. The key locks itself into the ignition, i had to access the manual release to get it out of the car.

I was traveling approximately 65 mph on a 3 lane highway, while mainitaning a constant speed.suddenly all power to the vehicle cut off including my power steering and braking. In a panic as i as coasting i was fortune enough to weave my way across 2 lanes to the side of the highway and roll to a complete start.after gathering myself i turned the ignition from the run position to off. I looked up and noticed there was smoke coming out from under the hood. I jumped out, lifted the hood, and heard popping and steam/smoke rising up from underneath the engine by the firewall.i pulled the oil dipstick and i was about a quart low, and it looked normal. I waited about 30 min and checked the level again with the same result. I then tried to start the vehicle and there was not response at all. I was unable to roll up my windows, and there was no power to display any information on dash.when my wife arrived i hooked up jumper cables and after a while i was able to turn the key forward to see the instrument panel. It said my battery was at the correct volts, and there were no warning lights on my dash.when i turned the ignition to start. My dash flickered rapidly and there was a clicking noise but the engine made no sound as if it was trying to turn over. So i called tow truck and got towed to my house. The vehicle was purchased by me in 09 with 32k miles. It had an issue where it was eating up to 4 quarts of oil every 1k-3k miles. I had purchase an extended warranty so bye 50k miles they tore apart engine replacing pretty much the entire engine. The car currently has less then 20k miles since warranty rebuild and i am at a loss. I put a new battery in it and that has done nothing to help. Still just makes a strange clicking noise.i have no idea what to do now. It is a 2005 cts 3.6l base automatic transmission

Vehicle shutters/hesitates (like the brakes are engaging) and then jerks violently to the right into next lane. "service stability sys" message comes on and then goes off.cadillac dealer keeps "fixing" it and charging.problem returns again within days sometimes hours.internet is loaded with folks with exact same problem and cadillac says there are no recalls and they can't diagnose the problem unless they can duplicate the issue while a tech is driving it.i am afraid to drive the car.another driver almost drove up on the curb when he had to pull away from my car moving unexpectedly into his lane.all of this information has been shared with the dealer repair department.

The traction control turned off when i was driving at about 45mph. I have loss of motive power and traction control will not turn back on. I know there was a recall for this same years powertrain seal going bad and think that this is a defective model that wasn't recalled. Please let me know what can be done about this serious issue???

In november 2011 i could not take the key from the ignition of my car.then in 2012 the same problem occurred on about the same month, costing me a little under $900.00 both times.the problem mention was stated internal failure of engine control module.the module computer chip, went out both times.now i am having problems with the car shaking after refueling and the check engine light is on. I understand that there was a recall of this model car in 2010. I brought this n 2011 from ford of rock hill in south carolina. There wereno mention of any recalls.

When driving down the expressway my car stability system spontaneously engaged causing my car to suddenly jerk to the left.it felt as though the car dropped a little on that side and the tires locked up.i thought it was going to flip my car but luckily i was able to correct it in time. This has happened several more times since then, randomly, and at all different speeds, always throwing me to the left (into oncoming traffic!).my "stability system engaged" message pops up on the screen.i took it to a mechanic who reset the system but it has happened again just the other day with my wife in the car.again, traveling about 20mph, the car dropped and veered to the left suddenly into oncoming traffic.the car is now at a cadillac dealership, and we are waiting for an update.research suggests that this is a defect in this model/year but why no recall? many lives could be lost because of this issue!!

While traveling at a slow speed on a wet road, the driver had difficulty shifting gears. The vehicle began to shake violently and lunged hard to the right (the driver was unable to correct or control). For unknown reasons, the vehicle then accelerated to a high speed and crashed into two trees. The accident might have been initiated by a malfunctioning electronic stability control (esc) system, causing unexpected braking action and pulling to the right. Other malfunctioning electronic sensors and/or associated vehicle control modules, known transmission problems (harsh or unexpected transmission shifts: tsb 02-07-30-013e), or suspension components problems (rear axel or wheel hop: tsb 05-04-114-001a) could have been contributing factors.

First ecm module needing to be replaced, we replaced it then after that started running rough, took it to auto zone, 12 codes popped up. Did normal maintenance of vehicle, oil change spark plugs . Then a few days later we were on the highway and all of a sudden we lost all power, pushed on accelerator no power, front end started shaking, so pulled over, vehicle was very hot and smells like gas, had it towed compression test were no good, was told gasket were bad, also was told to check the recall list. Im up set because our children were in the vehicle with us. I hope we are able to get whatever needs to be fixed on this vehicle. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While the vehicle was stationary, the "service stability system" and the "stability system off" messages displayed without warning. Upon acceleration, the front wheels seized. An unknown local cadillac dealer of las vegas, nevada was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Car was bucking. Analysis found broken motor mount

Engine quit without any warning (noise, engine warning light) going 55mph down highway. Engine is ruined.i bought this car new and kept it for almost 8 years.i had all routine and recommended maintenance done by dealer.i sold this to my friend who this happened to.i have determined this was probably caused by the gm recommended 10,000 miles oil change.engine failures apparently have been happening for quite some time according to the internet and gm or my dealership never once told me to have the oil changed sooner or warned me about this.i feel this is a real safety hazard.if i would have pulled out on the freeway where i normally do to blend into 70 mph traffic and the engine would have failed, i would have had no place to pull over and coast to a stop as there isn't a shoulder for several yards.i could have very well been hit from the rear and a chain reaction accident with potential loss of life could have occurred.

There's a very hard jerkingcoming from some where in the rear area while driving. When this happens there is a lost of power. Also the engine oil is going some where ,i keep having to put oil in it , about two to three quarts a week. When the oil gets real low the engine shakes and runs like crap and acts like it wants to cut off.

I just purchased this car in february 2019 and it went down in late april or early may of this year. The service engine light would come on for a few days then it would go off for a few days. The engine would rattle when first cranked and then it got to the point where it would constantly keep trying to crank but never would and now it is completely out. I had it towed to mechanic and was told that they had to put 5 quarts of oil in it but i had the oil changed a month before the car died. They say the oil is going somewhere but where? i was also told the timing chain had failed. When this happens it can cause the pistons and everything else to fail with the engine. It will cost me over $2000 to get repaired. This is ridiculous! something needs to be done about this. Cadilliac makes everything so expensive so i would not recommend getting one unless you can absolutely afford it and not be in debt behind it. I was in love with this car but this is horrible. This is my second time trying to get it repaired and now i'm done.

Timing chain jumped time. Mechanics working on it state they have read numerous complaints on this but state no recall will be published unless someone gets killed.

I went to cadillac to get the recall fixed they said it was closed out and couldn't fix it and now i can't smog my car and i can't tell if i have gas or not and i'm scared to drive it without getting the fuel pump fixed

A few weeks after my latest oil change i was driving on the freeway in semi crowded conditions when the car started bucking.the car slowed and i had to avoid traffic and almost was hit as the car would not respond, was scared to death. I thought it was a transmission issue but when i called the mechanic he knew what it was right away, he said check your oil and i did and it was near empty.no oil in my garage, no oil in my work parking spot, no visible leaks, but all the oil gone.it just happened for a second time and when i looked for complaints on the car it is the same issue time and time again.how is cadillac not held responsible to the driving public for this safety issue.how many must die before it is recalled?

I was hit front end never had a chance to react. 110 mph impact. Engine transmission brackets that are designed to shear off to keep engine from going into driver compartmentdid not . Everything came forward causing extensive damage, horrible injuries.

Nhtsa 10043857 -- 2005 cts error code p0016 engine timing chains. Car has the same problem and engine that is in tech bulletin sb-11340. 86,176 miles on engine when tested for this problem by gm dealership. I had car repaired at dealership earlier this month and have submitted receipts to cadillac for reimbursement. Currently i have not heard back regarding the status on this claim. Cadillac service request number is 8-1628649320. I am the original owner. I understand the age of my car is outside of the warranty period but i feel this is a defect in the engine design and car repair took 3 days at the gm repair facility. This is not a minor repair or routine maintenance. During research on the internet i found the tech bulletin and your reference numbers regarding this defect. Fortunately for me this chain did not fail during operation.

The car has unbelievable oil consumption. I was traveling from illinois to iowa to visit my father. During the first 4 hours, i had to add 4 quarts of oil. Than 20 minutes from our destination, we hear a pop, the car stops running, no brakes and i am doing 70 mph in the left lane with no power steering. I luckily get the car to the right side of the road. Called a tow truck and tow it to a mechanic who tells me i need a new engine.upon researching any issues with cts, i find numerous blogs with customers with the same car and issues. Many of who complained to cadillac. Why has the manufacturer not done anything to correct this, notify customers and prevent any injuries or worst a potential death. What are they waiting for? they know about the blogs because their representative was on there after someone suggested a class action lawsuit trying to defuse the situation.

Thank you.

This car has had several issues the newest being it started using excessive oil just after the main computer was replaced. This car has had regular maintenance at the proper times and never used a drop of oil. When it started using oil it used five liters of oil in just 24 days or 2000 miles. It continues to use a liter every two days.dealer has know idea why this is happening but the car is burning it, the white exhaust is very evident.

This complaint is pertaining to the 2005 cadillac cts 3.6l v6. The problem pertains to the timing chain failure of said car at around 80,000 miles. Having done research on the internet i have come across many owners with the exact same problems spanning the 2004-2007 model years, with common failure rates spanning 20,000, to 80,000 miles. This has cost me personally over $1,000 in parts plus my own labor. It has also come to my attention that gm has issued multiple tsb reports pertaining to this problem but will however not acknowledge affected customers. The company still insist that this vehicle(specific engine) is service free up to 100,000 miles, and makes no recommendations for other that routine service (oil & filter). This being said i am requesting that the nhtsa perform an inquiry in the frequency of these problem and encourages gm to acknowledge and compensate customers accordingly.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the interior of the vehicle caught on fire after being parked and shut off for a few minutes. The contact also stated that prior to the failure, he smelled an unusual chemical odor within the vehicle. Another individual assisted with extinguishing the fire. The contact stated that the fire originated near the dashboard area. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer, where it was awaiting a diagnosis. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileages were 70,000.

Driving from a side road onto the 505 freeway, vehicle came to a stop on the slowlane. Was towed to a cadillac dealer. 1/6/14. Replaced left and right catalytic converter. Second incident occurred 1/27/2014. Driving onto i-80. Exact problem occurred and was towed to same cadillac dealer. Dealer adjusted throttle body. Am concerned if problem has been resolved..

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts.the contact stated that the ecm (engine control module) failed three times.two of those times, the dealer performed repairs.while driving 50 mph, the tire flattened.cadillac refused to come out and make the repair.the contact stated that the failure was supposed to be covered under warranty.another issue was that the low tire pressure system failed to indicate when the pressure was low.the contact was concerned that the winter weather conditions could cause the failures to worsen.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 17,000 and failure mileage was 3,615.

My 2005 cadillac cts just hit 63,000 miles started to hear a chatter under the hood went to go get a diagnosis and said timing chain and crankshaft balancer need to be replaced. Another issue is the airbag bag sensor went bad causing the airbag light to keep popping up on display and now needs replaced. I'm hoping we get enough people that have these problems file a complaint in order to get a recall.

When the consumer opened the hood he suffered serious burns which left him permanently disfigured. The vehicle was totaled.

Engine oil consumption 2005 cadi cts.bought the car with 75k miles.3 months later and 3800 miles.. No oil, no oil light came on.engine damaged.dealer bloosom chevrolet said engine replacement was all on me.then later came back and said dgm was paying 1/3 and the dealership would pay 1/3 and 1/3 was on me.i have found reports that oil consumption is a problem with this type of car.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the oil was leaking from an unknown source and the contact could not visibly locate a leak. The contact was driving 60 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who ran a diagnostic test and advised that the connecting rod was fractured. In addition, there were two holes in the engine block and no oil in the engine. The dealer informed the contact that he would have to replace the engine at a cost of $6000. The manufacturer was notified who filed a claim on behalf of the contact. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 62,000.

Purchased 2005 cadillac cts may 30, 2005. At first new owner check up i complained of a knocking noise under the drivers front side. Coastal cadillac in pawley island, sc could not hear anything wrong.made another appointment june 16, 2005 as we took a trip and my husband heard the thumping. They finally located the problem, a broken front strut, which took 3 days to replace.at that time i voiced my concerns about this vehicle and asked for a new car. The answer was no.now on sept 2, 2005 my "check coolant level" message came on.i now have a leak in the coolant reservoir.the car only had 2,789 miles at the time.i am not looking forward to calling the dealer about this problem and thought i could just purchase coolant and fill it.i thought that this should not be occurring in such a new vehicle.

Dt*: the contact stated there are several things wrong with the vehicle.the check coolant light and the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard.the dealership determined the radiator was damage and attempted to repair the radiator four times.the first three repairs performed by the dealer in an attempt to repair the radiator were unavailable.the fourth time, the dealership determined the problem was with the water pump and the water pump was replaced.the fuel pump was also found to be defective and was replaced.the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard prior to the fuel pump problems.the drive shaft was defective causing the vehicle to become inoperative. The crs light illuminated in the vehicle.there was an unknown part replaced to repair the crs light. The driver's power window worked intermittently making a grinding noise and the dealer repaired the window.the wiring was in backwards on the passenger seat causing only half of the seat to move.the dealership corrected the wiring to repair the seat.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While driving 40 mph, all of the safety lights on the dashboard illuminated when the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was turned back on it began to function normally. The failure occurred twice. The dealer was contacted and they stated that she needed to bring it in to have it diagnosed again. The dealer previously stated that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 4100 and the current mileage was 58,000.

The consumer was on the road, when suddenly smoke started to come from the front of the vehicle. The consumer made contact with " on star". And was told not tocontinue driving the vehicle.the consumer made it to a parking lot where a tow truck was sent to retrieve it.after the dealer serviced the vehicle the consumer was told that pine cones were found and that is what started the fire.the consumer stated there are no pine cones near the home or where the vehicle had been previously.fire originated from the exhaust.the post oxygen sensor burned.the post oxygen sensor was replaced on the passenger side.the transmission heat shield was damaged and was replaced as well. *sc

Electrial problems also engine problems and front light gwent out 3 times burns oil

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts.the left and the rear brake lights are inoperative.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. I would like to complain about the new headlights on the latest model cars, they may be nice for the driver of the auto but, the glare and non-dimming to the oncoming driver, i feel is a definite hazard to the oncoming driver.i am also concerned about the "fog lights" that many cars have, if they were truly fog lights they would be yellow.we don't need 4 head lights.please give some serious thought to these concerns.thanking you in advance.

2005 cadillac cts experienced what he perceived was a fuel pump problem.*mwthe consumer received a recall years later, after he performed the repairs on the vehicle and at his expense.

While driving on the highway under normal operating conditions, my properly maintained and unmodified 2005 cadillac cts caught fire.the fire caused significant damage to the drive train and fuel tank with the plastic fuel tank seconds away from being totally breached by flames and likely significant injuries including death.the fire burned for 30-40 minutes until the responding firefighters were able to jack up the vehicle and extinguish the fire with water from underneath.fortunately, the firefighters were able to extinguish the vehicle fire prior to the fuel tank breach with no apparent related injuries.pursuant to an expert analysis and report, the following manufacturing and/or design defects sequentially caused said fire:1. While driving, the rear carrier pinion bearing failed;2. Failed carrier pinion caused excessive play in the pinion gear;3. Excessive play in the pinion gear caused failure of the pinion gear seal in the ring and pinion housing;4. Failed pinion gear seal allowed the rear carrier lubricant to leak;5. With vehicle in motion, rear carrier lubricant contacted rotating driveshaft assembly;6. Rotating driveshaft and pinion yoke "sprayed" lubricant in the rear axle housing area including onto exhaust, plastic fuel tank, rubber driveshaft coupler and floor pan;7. Heat from exhaust or pinion gear ignited lubricant & subsequent fire quickly spread across the bottom of the vehicle.expert report concluded that manufacturing and / or design defects were previously well-documented by nhsa 2005 cadillac cts nhsa owner complaints and said fire could have been prevented by vehicle manufacturer through recall notices and use of non-combustible materials.

05 cadillac cts 2.8l traveling at about 55/60 miles per hour...car pulled in front of me cut me off. To avoid collision, i slammed on brakes and car died. I called dealer immediately and advised, asking was this some kind of special feature, dealer advised car not designed to do such and asked me about quantity of gas i had in the vehicle. I advised 1/4 tank and dealer explained by slamming on my brakes all gas ran to front of tank leaving air pocket causing car to die....also after just purchasing the car, sitting at red light and the whole car shook and motor revved up high rpms and died...both times the vehicle did start back up..nothing has been done to correct due to dealer advised the vehicle must do the same thing to them. I am fully aware recall is it out for this exact problem, but i have not been notified of the recall andunable to get any cooperation from dealerships regarding the above problem....the recall advised must keep 1/4 tank of gas or more in vehicle at all times to avoid engine failure, also states will have to reprogram the ecm (electronic control module) with new software.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump discharged into the engine, which caused the oil and engine bearings to seize. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v394000 (electrical system), and 14v542000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

On any in clining road or acceration of the gas, stalling and power acceleration decreases dramatically.and extremely smell of gas inside the carriage caused nausea, severe migraines, light headness, to me and my too young daughters. Fuel efficiency also decreased...

Thank you.

Whenever it gets cold and/or snows, the left rear door of my car opens without warning, then will not remain closed.this is the third time this has occurred since i have owned the vehicle.the first time i returned to cadillac, it closed when i arrived at the dealer, the second time my son was able to close the door.this last incident, i could not get the door to remain closed, i took it to the dealer, who explained to me there is nothing that can be done to fix this, they follow the guidelines set forth by gm, which is to apply an oil that will absorb the moisture in the doors mechanism. While at the dealer, there were 3 other people with the same complaint. This is a dangerous condition that can cause harm, the first time it happened i had my 2 yr. Grandson in the back seat. Gm should notify its customers that this is a defect of the vehicle.the service person informed me that there is nothing he can do about it, the only solution is to return to the dealer each time this occurs and have them lubricate the door.

Rear doors will not close shut in cold temperatures. When contacting cadillac, he was told that this issue was under investigation.this condition caused the door to come open while the consumer was driving.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the radiator failed and caused coolant to leak into the transmission. As a result, the radiator and transmission both needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the differential leaked and the vehicle became inoperable without warning. There was an abnormal sound that came from the differential. Cole buick gmc confirmed that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 07v589000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the vehicle would not respond when in reverse. The contact was able to drive the vehicle forward. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired because the dealer advised the contact that the part was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified and advised the same thing. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Rear differential of my cadillac cts-v has begun to whine at 70,000 miles, dealer says the only option to fix it is to replace.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts.the vehicle was being serviced at an authorized dealer for an unrelated issue when he was advised that the rear differential pinion seal was leaking. The rear differential pinion seals were replaced. The contact located a recall in regards to the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 07v589000 (power train:axle assembly:axle shaft:seal) but was advised by the manufacturer that his vin was not part of the recall. The vehicle was repaired at the contacts expense. The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.

The traction control turned off when i was driving at about 45mph. I have loss of motive power and traction control will not turn back on. I know there was a recall for this same years powertrain seal going bad and think that this is a defective model that wasn't recalled. Please let me know what can be done about this serious issue???

After a routine oil change at brogan cadillac servicein totowa, nj, the recommendedservice (approx cost $1200) was the rear diff bushing was worn and therear axle seals are leaking fluid.an internet search uncovered gm recall# 07204 for this make and model that states "the rear axle pinion seal does not meet all of the specifications and may experience a fluid leak." when i called gm to inquire about this issue i was told that although there was a recall for this particular problem for cars sold in new jersey, it was specific to certain vin numbers and my vehicle was not included in this group. However, the customer service agent made 2 follow up calls to me and the supervisor offered to look into my situation and would contact me once she spoke with the dealer.please note:for the past two or three years the service stability system alert warning indicator light comes on every time i start the car and inquiry at the dealer led to me have the struts and shocks replacedbut the alert has never reset and the warning still comes on.additionally, the internet search uncovered gm recall #09149 for the service brake systems which the alert has been on for a few years as well. The brake system has been serviced several times to replace pads and rotors and the warning is still persistent. I had been told it was the sensor that needs to be replace and not to worryabout it. Now i wonder if this too was "vin specific" and did not include my vehicle but leaves me unsafely at risk.i realize that enormous expense is connected to recalls, however my safety as well as the safety of everyone who places confidence in car manufacturers to do what is right is at stake. We drive these vehicles and do not realize the gamble we take when serious issues are not dealt with consideration for safety first! will you please save my life and get gm to fix my car?

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While driving at 10 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear axle pinion seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked to the right and nearly caused a crash. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions and the contact was informed of possible underground wire defects. The vehicle was repaired and the dealer offered no further assistance. The failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000 and the current mileage was 74,000.

Car shutters when driving up a grade.has been in for service 4 times this month and still not fixed.

Shifting gears was accompanied by clunking in rear differential. This occurred when shifting or when letting off the accelerator. In march of 2014 a whining also accompanied driving at speeds of 50 - 70 mph.my cadillac dealer replaced the differential with a new one under a private warranty program. Within 2 weeks the differential was again making the same noises. Dealer said that cadillac would not do anything about the problem. Note: servicing mechanic noted after changing the differentialfluid, that the fluid taken from the newlyinstalled differential was burnt black.

I was hit front end never had a chance to react. 110 mph impact. Engine transmission brackets that are designed to shear off to keep engine from going into driver compartmentdid not . Everything came forward causing extensive damage, horrible injuries.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked backward and would not accelerate. The contact shut off the vehicle and once restarted, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that the key would become stuck in the ignition switch or would be difficult to remove. The power windows also failed and would open and close independently, as well as the radio becoming inoperable. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the transmission and the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The ignition switch was replaced but not the transmission. The contact later discovered that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number: 14v394000 (electrical system) the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

I have a 2005 cadillac cts and have taken into thecadillac dealership for rear end loss of control and bouncing of rear end.i know there was a recall on some type of rear end issues.i am tired of arguing with the ed morse dealership in tampa, flabout the recall and defect with the car. Please advise me as to what to do.

I was traveling on the interstate when it felt like someone had hit us from behind except there was no one there. I saw smoke coming from the back end of car and it smelled like something was burning. I pulled off to the side and stopped my vehicle. After stopping the car it i could no longer get it to move forward. It acted like it was not able to go into gear. Had a tow truck haul it home from el centro, calif to yuma, az. The car had to literally be dragged onto the tow truck cause the rear wheels were frozen in place. Luckily the wheels didn't cease while we were still moving. After removal of differential we discovered it was bone dry. I had replace a bushing not to long ago but saw no sign of leaks. I purchased the 2005 cts new from a dealer in yuma and never received any notice of a recall for the seals. Or for anything.

Clunking soundand feel from rear axle when shifting gears . Appears to be getting worse.

The vehicle is equipped with a very weak rear differential that was used in the lesser horsepower v6 and when taking off hard the car begins to wheel hop and destroys the rear end the vehicle was in motion on a city street this has occurred twice in less then a year and a half

Vehicle dealer refused to perform open recalls. I replaced front brake hoses myself at my own cost. They stated very high mileage 184000 miles and you did not buy the car here.

I own a 2005 cadillac cts with a 3.7 liter engine, and automatic transmission. I am the second owner, and purchased this vehicle when it had 55,978 miles on it. After driving the car for less then 2 years, it developed a noise coming from the back (rear end). I brought the car to my local cadillac dealer. After a road test and inspection, the dealer determined that the problem wasthe rear differential, and it would need to be replaced at a cost of about $1700.00. I've owned many used cars over the past 30 years, some with over 100,000 miles on them, andi've never, neverneeded a new rear differential on any vehicle that i've ever owned! i understand that this is a common problem with this model. The dealer stated that the seals were good, and that all of the fluids were at the correct levels in the differential, and that the earlier cts models had experienced problems with differentials, but that the problem was rectified with the 2005 model. Apparently it would seem that there are also problems with the 2005 model differential as well!

I just bought the car on december 18th, 2009 from a small dealer.it snowed over the weekend in delaware.i have been noticing a loud noise coming from the rear axles as i would try to navigate through the snow.it sounds like the rear is hopping up and down radically.this is happening from the point of take off when trying to drive through the snow at low speeds of 5 mph.i took the car to pep boys in philadelphia, pa to get an oil change and the mechanic's informed me that they heard the rear bouncing up and down when they were trying to transport the car from the parking space to the car lift.

Dt: the contact statednew vehicle did not have any transmission fluid in it when he bought it. The transmissionfailed and it was in the shop being rebuilt. The bolts on the wheels were all torqued over specifications, andhad a flat tire, and that was the reason he took vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle seized as he was driving into the parking lot. The bolts broke off in the wheel as they were trying to remove the tire. This occurred on 9-6-05.

On aug. 26, 2005 our three month old cadillac cts's transmission would not shift out of first gear after going through a busy toll booth.car had to be towed to dealer for 8 day repair of computer and replacement of transmission.few days later car had to go back to dealer due to transmission not shifting properly, out of commission for days again.after picking vehicle up, car would not start in garage and had to be towed to dealership again, picked up car a couple of days later, next day would not start again and had to be towed.at dealership for 6 more days.when picked up dealership refused to give us a service ticket showing the problem and what they did.service manager stated that he would not give us "ammunition" to give to a lemon law attorney.dealership tried to lay entire blame on the car's aftermarket sirius radio addition which had been in place and worked perfectly since car was new.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that upon routine inspection, a technician noticed that the rear axle pinion seal was leaking.a rear differential failure may cause loss of motor power and control which could increase the risk of a crash. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 82,000.

August 2005, 4 months after purchasing car, both rear tires worn out from the inside out with 4000 miles on the car, took car in for warranty on tires and rear end, gm denied claim.had to purchase 2 new tires and have the frame aligned.january 2006, car slightly hits curb and right rear causing no damage to tire and scrap to wheel, rear differently broken and axle, again gm denies claim.

Shifting the vehicle from 1st gear to second gear andupon releasing the clutch there is a loud bang. Half shaft broken. This is the second time the rar end of one of my cts-v's has broken.

Bad wheel hop under light loads dealership replaced some parts but did not help.

I was simply driving "normally" and a "clunk" was heard from the rear of the car.the vehicle was not drivable.it had to be put on a flat bed truck and taken to the dealer.the right hand half shaft broke it two pieces and destroyed the differential in the process.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While the vehicle was being service he was advised that the rear differential was out of lubricant.he stated that the differential was also leaking oil.he reference recall 07v589000, power train:axle assembly:axle shaft:seal and was advised by the manufacturer that his vehicle was not a part of the recall. The vehicle was repaired at the owners expense. The failure mileage was 52,800 and the current mileage was 54,500.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While having the vehicleserviced at the dealer, the contact was informed that the rear axle pinion seal was leaking and the front and rear brake pads would need to be replaced. The contact inquired with the manufacturer in relation to nhtsa campaign id number 07v589000 (power train: axle assembly: axle shaft: seal) but was informed that her vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not serviced for the failure. The current and failure mileages were 70,000. Updated 8/25/10 updated 08/27/10updated 08/30/10

I have a 2005 cadillac cts-v with 17800 miles. It has developed a whine in the rear differential.upon investigating further, i found this has not been unusual for this model. (gm has used the same differential in this car as they put in the base cts model, which hassignificantly less torque)upon taking the car to the gm dealer, they said they would have to replace the differential, but would have to await parts to do so.they are to call me when they get the parts in stock. They also said the clutch has been updated and have ordered a new clutch also.

I own a 2005 cadillac cts-v i currently have 33k miles on my vehicle i have suffered through three catastrophic rear differential failures, the half shaft was also completely severed fromthe hub, possible due to a rear differential failure and main bolt failure from a prior repair to rear diff 3000 miles prior .gm has refused service warranty repair every time stating damage must be caused by driver abuse now $9000+ spent in repairs i again have found a rear diff. Seal leak and humming from rear end it seams as though i will be once again forcedto fix this rear end at my expense approx $3200 again for the forth time with no option for an improved part or compensation for repair or loss of vehicle this car has been in the shop several times for months each time and the last time was over 5 months, oddly i discovered after calling several dealers about warranty help that no repairs or service completed on my vehicle shows up on any of the dealers service records for my vehicle except for a radio replacement and a clutch repair at 50 miles that occurred before i bought the vehicle. I have the rear differential from the second replacement and pictures of the half shafts. I hope that all should be made aware of possible dangers with this vehicle. It is possible if driven at speed a broken half shaft or axle could catapult the car or a wheel could separate injuring driver passengers and others on the roadway. This car is unsafe to drive . The rear differentialand axle is faulty and someone is bound to get hurt seriously it is only a matter of time. I have complete records for repairs made and all expenses to date i want to sell the car but do not want to feel responsible for putting someone else in danger so selling the car private party is out. I have tried to sell the car back to the dealer but there offers have been grossly under value and payoff.

Purchased my new 2005 cts in jan. 2005. Wonderful car. Wine began in the rear end of the car almost immediately. The dealer replaced the pinion gear, seals etc . Noise persisted. Had the dealer check for the noise again about may .'05 , they could not hear any noise. It continues to get louder especially under light acceleration in the 40 to 50 kilometer range. It is unnerving and i fear it is going to fail . Not a nice thing for such a great car !the dealer is less than interested in resolving the matter.

Rear-end differential failure, transmission failure.

- degradation of the rear carrier assembly (e.e. Noticed oil spotting on floor and inspection revealed rear end differential unit was leaking fluid.dealer found hairline crack and replaced differential.

2005 cts v . . . Noticed howling whining noise coming from rear end.cadillac has replaced two rear differentials in my car and attempted to fix the whining noise three other time and i still have the noise coming from the rear end.my car only has 12,000 miles and needs a third rear differential.

At 50mph rear differential let loose on my 2005 cts cadillac.lost control spun, hit curb and median.had to be towed out.wheels locked.could have been catastrophic had i went into on coming traffic.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and making a turn, he would notice a loud grinding noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that the noise was due to a leak in the seal located in the differential. The vehicle had not been repaired for the seal. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

The differential assembly in my 2005 cadillac cts-v was whining after only 5,000 miles and had to be replaced.

Rear end leaking and winingreplaced rear diff.

Rear differential failure of 2005 cadillac cts. I have a 2005 cts and experienced clunking while driving.the car was returned to dealer multiple times with complaint of clunking noise.all times the car was returned and said to be in proper operable order.i finally decided to contact cadillac direct and was told by customer service to bring my vehicle for yet another appointment.they changed the rear differential finally and stated that there was complete failure due to leak of fluid. [smch from e-mail]

I am the 2nd owner my local dealership is calling my problem "catastrophic failure due to customer abuse". I own a 2005 cadillac cts-v. My issue was about 10 or 11 days ago. I left work headed home and on the onramp to highway 240 in asheville, nc i hit third gear going about 45 or 55 mph and my rear differential made a loud pop the car jerked and then just began to free roll. I then proceeded to cross three lanes of traffic with no means of acceleration in a high traffic 60mph zone in order to get to a safe stopping zone. Gm roadside service towed the car to the dealership i purchased the car at. The next day when i came to see what their verdict would be they told me that warranty wouldn't cover it and i would have to pay out of pocket for a new differential and labor amounting to around 2800 dollars. I had came to the same dealership three times prior to the incident and reported a popping in the rear end when shifting but there was no action taken at any of the complaints and to my knowledge none of my complaints were filed, they only told me that it was the clutch and i would just have to learn how to properly shift the car. I then called cadillac customer service to make a complaint and to see if there was any way to have the warranty cover the cost. Customer service called me back and told me that they contacted the service manager at the dealership and he told them it appeared to be "catastrophic failure due to customer abuse". This is where i am stuck and the car is still at the dealership in their holding area where it will stay until, a: somehow by miracle they send the local cadillac rep. And he oks the warranty repair or, b: i magically come up with the cost of repair.i was shifting to third, yes there were many close calls while getting the car off the road i had three lanes to cross at night in a 60mph zone on a busy night

I was driving across an intersection at the other side of the intersection there was a small dipi shifted into second as i was exiting the intersection and went through the dip and accelerated out of iti heard a loud pop and the car started to slow down i pulled into a parking lot with the momentum that i had ant stopped there was a puddle of gear oil on the ground. There was a track of oil from where it popped to where i stopped a piece of the diff housing was laying in the street. I called aaa and they came and towed my 2005 cts-v to the nearest dealership.

1-rear end wine high pitch2-rear differential defect3-replaced with an 06 differential & three weeks latter leaking oil.

Took delivery may, 2005. In less than three months, with approximately 1,500 miles, differential began to whine at speeds between 45 and 50 mph, once up to normal operating temperature.vehicle currently has ~5,200 miles. Differential now whines between 40 and 55 mph. There seems to be a consensus among many cts owners that this condition is a precursor to complete, and sometimes sudden, differential failure.

Vehicle has moderate to severe wheel hop during acceleration or when roads are wet or slick, causing some lose of control. Rear differential had loud whine and is prone to catastrophic failure.

2005, cadillac cts-v, wheel hop from rear differential, very common in this vehicle. Cadillac has acknowledged issue by providing extended warranties to "some" owners of vehicles, but not to all owners, rear differential is very weak and may break apart, causing serious injury or death, wheel hop is experienced in my vehicle on a daily basis, original tires lasted less than 6,000 miles, and provided a safety/hazard probelm as manufacturer did not advise consumers that tires would have to be replaced in this time frame, 6,000 miles was a period that most consumers would not consider enough mileage for a tire rotation.

With only about 3370 miles on a brand new car, my rear differential internals were destroyed and the housing cracked due to the following 2 reasons:1.excessive wheel hop due to a poorly designed rear suspension2.the differential that comes stock in every 2004-2005 cts-v cadillac is not rated to handle as much horsepower and torque as the car puts out.gm cut corners and put in a differential that was meant for their v6 base model cts that makes about half the power.when the rear differential blew up, it also destroyed my driveshaft.i noticed the differential over time started to whine and clunk more and more and become louder and louder until all of a sudden while driving i heard a loud boom and a bunch of clunking and metal grinding.the car was immediately undriveable. My dealership replaced my driveshaft andthe differential with a 2006 cts-v differential which is a beefier piece.i have 2500 miles on the new differential which is already starting to whine and clunk.wheel hop is still atrocious and it is only a matter of time before this differential breaks as well.my dealership denied knowledge of any issues with cts-v rear ends, and tried to place the blame on me by stating that my rear tires were very worn for only 3370 miles, so i must have been abusing that car.that is not the case, and these tires are notorious for having the worst tread wear of any tire on the market, and every cts-v owner complains about how long they last.in fact, consumers gave the tires on this car the worst rating of any tire listed on "the tire rack."see here:http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tiremake=goodyear&tiremodel=eagle+f1+supercar+emtconsumers rate the tire wear as a 2.6/10.what a joke, and cadillac dealerships place the blame for the tire wear on me the owner.

Differential began whining at 500 miles. Was told the noise was normal by the cadillac dealer.rear differential failed at 7500 miles with the dealer informing me i had abused the car.

Differential failure.

Rear differential makes whining noise which is getting progressively worse.car only has 4,000 miles.

When driving in rain / poor weather, the car during take-off violently shakes when the rear wheels spin.this shaking has thrown off my rear alignment, aided in premature tire wear, and may have caused significant rear-end damage.

Failed rear differential: case cracked, spilling differential oil onto the rear of my car, rear wheels, street. Car began to grind, had to limp to dealer, still in shop after 1 week with no word on when it will be fixed.thankfully no injuries, but 2 quarts of oil dumped onto the exhaust, tires and street could have been a major problem.

I have a 2005 cadillac ctsv with a faulty rear under-engineered rear carrier unit that supports the rear differential.it is leaking.cadillac has replaced these units with the same faulty under-engineered units manufactured by getrag with 2006 units.this solution has been nothing more than a band-aid and the result of the leaking is faulty engineering as determined by several highly respected engineering companies such as lingenfelter and katech that gm does there actual outsourcing to.i am very concerned to drive this vehicle out of fear that the rear end will fail and cause me to lose control of the vehicle and cause property damage and possible fatal bodily injury.rather than cadillac issuing a recall to replace this unit with a properly engineered unit to support the rear wheel torque that is generated by this vehicle; they have instead hid behind a technical service bulletin and handle these cases on a case by case basis.i remain hopeful that you will take action before we are dealing with another firestone tire issue as cadillac was made aware by getrag that this rear carrier differential was not "up to par" with the engine that they installed in the 2004 and 2005 cadillac ctsv.

Rear whine in transmission, dealer states is normal.

My 2005 cadillac cts-v has been sent to the cadillac dealership numerous times concerning rear differential noise and clunking. After cadillac claimed that the problem was fixed by replacing the drive shaft, on the same night the rear differential blew up under normal driving condition. The car was sent back to cadillac and was denied warranty under the accusation of harsh driving or "hot rodding". There was no in-depth inspection or a mechanical and material analysis to determine the actual point of failure. The tech representative simple conducted a bias conclusion and accused me of "hot rodding".

I have had 3 rear differentials replaced in the two years of ownership for my 2005 cadillac cts-v.they were evaluated by my dealership to be faulty and were replaced under warranty.currently, my 4th differential is not giving me a problem but i am confident it is simply a matter of time.

(1) driving car from wet gravel incline up onto pavement.(2) loud noise from rear, car began to roll back down hill. Would not move further.(3) towed to dealership, rear differential and driveshaft damaged. Dealer refused to fix under warranty. Only owned car 2 weeks & bought extended warranty.

1-whine in rear end between 44 and 47 mph2-noise got louder as time went on (at 6700 miles)3-rear end was replaced.

Whining from rear end.rear differential replaced.

2005 cadillac cts v with 38,000 miles. While driving down a california freeway the rear differential locked up. We managed to pull vehicle off road. Car was towed to cadillac dealership where rear differential breakdown was confirmed. Dealership has declined covering part under warranty as they say "improper driving" was the cause. This is a crazy statement as this car has been driven just like all of our other cars.this problem is highly documented and very dangerous. We were lucky to be able to get the car off the road without an accident.

The differential in my car has started to whine after ~11k miles despite, perhaps, the least abusive driving that is reasonably possible, especially considering that this car is a cts-v.to say i am disappointed would be an understatement.after a little bit of investigation, it appears that gm has used an under-engineered part for its differential for reasons i'm not real certain of.multiple failures are being reported all across the country, many with similar driving habits that i have.the cts-v differential is a limited slip 3.73 application and requires ~7% friction modified oil.such fluid was changed several thousand miles ago as a precautionary measure and the proper oil was added.i plan on taking my car in for evaluation/service in the near future, but i believe that gms decision to install a clearly known "bad" part is wholly egregious.

2005 cadillac cts-v rear differential whine. The rear differential on my cadillac cts-v went out. Metal shavings were found in the diff fluid. I took the cts-v into the dealership to get a warranty repair done.

Rear differential of my cadillac cts-v has begun to whine at 70,000 miles, dealer says the only option to fix it is to replace.

Rear-end differential failure, transmission failure.

The contact owned a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact was sitting idle at a traffic stop when a vehicle crashed into his rear. The contact's vehicle was pushed into three additional vehicles and the seat belt did not restrain the contact. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was injured whenher head struck the steering wheel. A police report was available. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure and current mileage was 112,000.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side seat belts failed to function properly. In addition, there were internal electrical failures on the driver's side function panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and indicated that there was no recall to address the issues. The failure mileage was not available.

The contact owned a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while the driver drove at an unknown speed, she applied the brakes to avoid hitting an animal as a result the vehicle swerved, rolling over several times. The contact stated that no air bags deployed as and the driver's seat belt became unlatched as the driver was ejected through the rear window.the contact stated there were no warning lights illuminated while the failure occurred.the driver sustained a coma, broken vertebra, hip contusion, bruising and memory loss as she was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The front passenger suffered hip, chest, breast, waist, arms, shoulder, head injuries as well as the rear driver's side passenger sustained chest, hip, and nose injuries all occupants were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact was reading the accident information from a news paper article. The new mexico state police was present and a police report was filed. The fire department was also present. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not contacted.the failure mileage was 114,000. *ln

Consumer's heated seats would not turn off, consumer suffered second degree burns to the buttocks.the manufacturer investigated the failure but denied the consumers claim for reimbursement for personal injury and faulty product.

While driving cadillac cts the heater in the driver seat would not turn off.the consumer sustained severe second degree burns to both his buttocks.the consumer would like to be compensated for the extreme pain and suffering that he endured.he would also like to be compensated for the loss of his vehicle which was out of service for approximately five months.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that additional force was required on the brake pedal and there was an abnormal noise coming from the tire area. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the brakes were functioning as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

While pulling into a parking spot with the wheels turned sharply, the braking became rough and the car would not stop without significant pressure on the brake pedal.this was the 5th time this has happened. Each time it occurs at low speed when the wheel is turned sharply.brake indicator lights do not go on.i have come very close to hitting other cars when this occurs.my repair man has not been able to identify a problem.

Not drivable

My wife has been complainting about the brakes don't stop the car sometimes.i drove it today and made a sharp right to enter in a parking spot and the car would not stop when applying the brakes.that scared the what ever out of me.

I have only had my cts for a month but when braking on about three different occasions the brake pedal will push back against my foot.these have occurred twice in my driveway stopping to back into my garage and once coming to a stop light.

Service brake assist message on screen and abs/ trac control lights. Brakes were checked with no issues found. Also anti-locks will active on dry road for a second or two.

When ever i make a slight turn at low speeds,ie. 10 mph or less the abs actuates and the car is unable to stop. This is very prevalent when pulling into a parking spot.i have had firestone auto, parker cadilac, and american tire and auto in my hometown look at this issue and all told me that they could not pull codes. I have been told that if any indicator dash warning light come on then it will trip a code, but this issue does not. This is an ongoing issue with this car..

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 25 mph, the check brake fluid warning light illuminated. The contact refilled the vehicle with brake fluid. The following day, the contact noticed a puddle of brake fluid leaking from the vehicle. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v225000 (services brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

I was driving into a drugstoreparking lot and as i applied the brakes the car sped up instead of stopping, the more i applied the brakes the faster the carwent...it appears that the speed went from about 10 mph to about 40 mph and as a result of this, my car spedupand went across a busy intersection and into another drugstore parking lot. Had it not been for the pillars in from of the second drugstore, we probably would be dead.the car simply would not stop! it eventually stopped after hitting the pillars at the second drugstore.it was god who blessed up and kept us here on this earth..my car was totaled.now i am without a vehicle.this car was a runaway car at the time that the accident occurred.

Intermittent brake failure, during sharp right turns at slow speeds. Most times as you pull into a parking spot.started as a rumble and bumping stop when pulling into parking spot, not long after buying the car, thought it was just how abs work??over the past 7 years this has progressed to where the brake peddle goes to the floor and the car doesn't stop.i've brought it to the attention of the dealer who can never recreate, therefore cannot fix.we recently moved, and in our new driveway, i must make a very sharp right turn into my garage, i've almost hit my house multiple times due to the brake failure. Last week almost hit a parked car pulling into a parking spot...it took 1/2 the distance of the space and my son putting car into reverse to avoid the collision.car is back at the dealer again and they want to charge me $2,500 to try a few things but not sure if any of them will fix the issue. There are many complaint about this for a few cts years (2004-2007 it appears) but gm has not taken responsibility or acknowledged an issue. Does someone need to be killed first?

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not stop immediately and the braking distance increased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. When operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the occupant restraint system was faulty. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while entering a driveway, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond causing the contact to crash into the garage. There were no injuries. Also, the contact stated that the brake pedal depressed to the ground and the service brake assist warning light illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure but was able to reset the abs system. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000. Updated 12/22/14*lj updated 05/26/2015

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the brake lines prematurely corroded with extensive rust and were replaced more than twice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the brake lines once. The contact also had an independent mechanic who replaced the brake lines, but the failure recurred. Within weeks, the brake pedal was applied and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 10v105000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 15v225000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

Starting to back out of driveway and when applying brakes they are stiff and barely working and really hard to stop car.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the brakes failed without warning. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that both front brake hose assemblies needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v105000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 140,000.

The brake lines have rusted through as i was driving 50mph. We lost all brakes and nearly hit a car/tree. The vehicle was purchased in wi, located in fl now, and has 120k miles.the leak is close to the fuel filter - and clearly visible.

Vehicle dealer refused to perform open recalls. I replaced front brake hoses myself at my own cost. They stated very high mileage 184000 miles and you did not buy the car here.

The emergency brake does not work. I press it all the way to the floor and the vehicle will roll still. It seems there is no emergency brake at all.

The brakes will slip when applied. It seems it only happens when going a low rate of speed. In november of this year i had recall on bakes fixed. I thought that had fixed problem. Unfortunately the brakes started slipping again yesterday (dec. 29, 2010). I have had brakes checked several times in the past, no one can seem to find a problem. This is our family car and i am beginning to fear for my family when driving this car. I have found multiple complaints the same as mine, please help us solve this problem. Don't let this end up like the "toyota" situation.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts which was purchased in 2004. He heard a slight grinding noise coming from the vehicle for eight months. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. On a separate occasion, he heard a grinding noise coming from the braking system. Upon further investigation he found the rotors had ground into the brakes and pads which caused severe damage. The manufacturer stated there was nothing they could do to assist him. The failure mileage was 24,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.

While applying the brakes from highway speed, both front brake hoses ruptured.brake fluid was lost and braking was obviously diminished a great deal.

I was driving to work this morning and i lost complete brake pressure in my 2005 cadillac cts.i was able to stop just before i rear ended the car in front of me by continuing to push down hard on the brake pedal.i tried to pump the brakes and the pressure would not come back.i immediately took my car to the local firestone who told me that the brake lines had corroded and needed to be replaced by the dealership.i took my car to the local cadillac dealership who will be replacing all the brake lines in my car because they are all corroded.at least 2 of the brake lines are so corroded that they are leaking.

Multiple service visits with complaints re brakes not working fully, fuel gaugewas always incorrect, passenger air bag not working.air bag sensor was replaced but did not correct the problem.after multiple complaints regardingfuel gauge and several attempts to repair, was told no problem found.stbility sensor replacedwhile going thru parking lot at 15 mph, slightly touching the brakes, the cars stability system light came on and the brakes failed. Car did hard right, brakes failed and car ran over curb and into sign.gm finally repurchsed the vehicle after several miscommunications re the terms of repurchase but refused to cover the damage to the sign and expected me to repair the car before they would purchase

I own a 2005 cadillac cts-v.i made a high-speed right-hand exit from the freeway, then had to swerve to the left lane of the two-lane exit ramp when the car in front of me suddenly slowed.the cadillac drifted left and hit the curb.rear wheels hit just before the front.the hit was pretty hard - misaligned both left wheels.the car recovered off the curb, but a stability control warning flashed on the navigation/information screen, and the brakes completely quit!the brake pedal went clear to the floor, and i sailed thru a red light at the intersection.about 3 - 4 seconds later, the warning screen went out, and the brakes returned.clearly this impact was out of the ordinary.however, the failure mode of the stability/abs system should be full brakes without anti-skid, rather than no brakes.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 55 mph, the brake pedal traveled abnormally to the floorboard when it was depressed. The brake pedal required excessive force and the brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle's stopping distance was delayed due to the failures. The failures occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake hose-tube interface was leaking and the hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v105000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2005 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, there was a complete loss of power steering. The vehicle was maneuvered into a parking lot and then towed to an authorized dealer. The technician informed the contact that the failure was related to the steering gear. The vehicle was repaired. This happened on november 29 2012.the contact stated that the failure had occurred again on may 18 2013and the steering gear was replaced at that time by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failuremileage was 61,998 and the current mileage was 67,852. Updated 6/21/13 updated 07/17/2013

I was hit front end never had a chance to react. 110 mph impact. Engine transmission brackets that are designed to shear off to keep engine from going into driver compartmentdid not . Everything came forward causing extensive damage, horrible injuries.

Woke up in the morning to go to work after a cold night. Started the vehicle and put it in reverse and was unable to turn the steering wheel without extreme effort. Checked power steering fluid level the reservoir was empty. Obtained appropriate gm power steering fluid and refilled reservoir only to have it leak out in a matter of hours. I have had the car only 76 days and there was no forewarning. Literally happened overnight.

The vehicle is equipped with a very weak rear differential that was used in the lesser horsepower v6 and when taking off hard the car begins to wheel hop and destroys the rear end the vehicle was in motion on a city street this has occurred twice in less then a year and a half

My 2005 cadillac cts appears to have a problem with the power-assisted steering.the car pulls to the right, and is difficult to steer toward the right.also, once turned by manual force, the wheel sometimes does not spin back into proper position.this makes turning in tight places and parking extremely difficult.i am the third owner of this car; i have taken it back to the dealer from whom i purchased it multiple times with this complaint; but they tell me each time that i am simply not strong enough to turn the wheel properly.the condition has not been fixed.the inability to smoothly turn the steering wheel to the right could result in a crash due to my not being able to avoid a hazard while driving or trying to park.also, the rear differential on this car was faulty, causing a roaring noise while driving, and a clunking sound to be heard when applying or easing pressure on the gas pedal.the dealer at first said nothing was wrong, but after multiple visits (at least 5); they acknowledged the problem and repaired it.

The car being reported about was my car, was three months and acadillac cts.i was driving at approx. 25 miles per hr.the car steering failed, pulled to the right, couldn't be stopped nor steered and crashed into three trees and finally came to a stop in the intersection of another street. The car wouldn't stop, or turn, etc.it just seemed to lift to the right and hit one tree, then another, then another and finally stopped in an intersection.it was totaled, terrible damage; i had a broken wrist.recently within the last two years i have read in the newspaperabout 2 fatalities driving this model car, both seemingly went out of control. One hit a utility pole, another hit a grating and flew into trees.

Excessive wheel hop occurs frequently under mild to heavy acceleration. In wet conditions, it happens much more frequently and can cause serious traction and handling problems. This also puts heavy stress on the drivetrain and has caused many failures in half-shafts and differentials amongst other owners vehicles, which could lead to further catastophic loss of control. This is a major issue that is being ignored by the manufacturer at this point in time.

Dt:the contact states when pulling into a parking space the vehicle lunged forward.she went over an embankment and knocked down a street sign.there was a police report taken.the vehicle is currently at a body shop, and will be towed to the dealership for inspection after it is repaired.both the driver and passenger had bumps and scrapes. The vehicle lunged a previous time, approximately one week ago when she was making a right turn.the vehicle was not taken to the dealership at that time.
