I purchased a 2003 cadillac cts from car mart in anniston, alabama on or about may 5, 2017. Shortly after signing the contract, which included an airbag reference, the service airbag lights came on. They come on at random times and include service airbag andrew airbag icon. I did not notice that the bottom of the airbag on the driver steering wheel had a small crack across it that you could actually see the airbag container. After being assured that an excutive of the company would review our contract and get back with me on this complaint around 2 weeks after taking possession of vechicle. As of today i have have not been contacted even after calling and leaving messages. I was driving down hwy.78 west when the lights first came on and continue to do so at random times. My wife is short so she is almost up to the steering wheel. I also have a 5 yr old daughter. I am in constant fear and worry that the airbag will deploy prematurely or when hitting a small pothole. I have checked for any recalls from the manufacturer and there are none. I would truly appreciate any assistance i can get to correct this problem. It is an accident waiting to happen.

When driving it would engage to stability mode and also service stability.. However the car would get out of controland it would be as if you put you brakes on when you were in water... But no water and i hadn't put thebrake until i had to.. Because it went out of control for a quick (but more frequent) time...i took it in finally and asked if there were any recalls becausewhen i purchased it in 2003 new. I had to have the shaft bolt fixed ...then i had to have the air bag serviced and they charged me for that another time. Then my seat motor went out. Etc. All within the 1st 5 years with low mileage too. So i've bee waiting to fix this since i am a widow and don't who to trust anymore... I was told this time it is leaking in the differential and that's why it runs rough and jolts when i put in gear...and the thermostat and 2 caps in front leaking ... Who knows.. But tomorrow they will call me with the amount it is going to cost... Approx. 13 hours of work....

Drs airbag light on on dash

Airbag light is stuck on. After researching issue there was a recall on the passenger side seat airbag sensor. Called dealer and was told this car wasn't part of the recall for this issue. Seems like the same reason the other cars were recalled.

Bought car for teenage daughter and the air bag light came on.found out 2005-2007 had a recall for this issue.cadillac refuses to acknowledge that this is a safety issue and should take responsibility for repairs.i am concerned that until parts come in my new driver is unprotected if in an accident.

Passenger seat belt (female) assembly using a takata initiator (cylinder alongside the seat) for airbag deployment sensor failure.dealer says parts in no longer made, no one makes aftermarket parts for the srs, therefore no repair can be made and jeopardizes safety and omits the purpose of an srs.

My girlfriend and i were going to a friends house to spend the night. At around 2am on 12/09/2013 as i was coming around a corner i hit a patch of ice and lost control of the car. My 2003 cts slid across the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a tree stump on the opposite side of the road. The tree stump impacted the drivers side front tire, shattering the front wheel and tire the flipped the car onto the passenger side of the vehicle. My car was completely totaled and both me and my girlfriend were transported to the hospital. With all the damage and several types of impacts done to the cadillac cts not a single air bag was deployed. This seems very odd to me and im hoping somebody can shed some light on this for me.

My cadillac cts (2003) was hit directly in the drivers door at approximately 50-55 mph and the side impact or curtain air bags did not deploy.the vehicle was pushed so hard, the witness thought it was going to flip over.cadillac indicated that there was no problem, and the air bags didn't deploy because the sensor did not receive a direct hit.the sensor is located on the door frame between the driver and rear left passenger door.i find it hard to believe that the door was totally smashed in to the drivers seat, the vehicle frame damaged, the window blew out and air bags didn't go off, because the sensor was not hit.

While making a left turn consumer's vehicle collided with an 18 wheeler. Upon impact none of the 6 air bags deployed. Driver sustained several bruises.

The license plate back up light assembly to my cadillac cts 2003 mysteriously came up missing.this is a costly piece to replace.i have called multiple salvage yards to find out that a lot of them receives 2-3 calls per week for this part.i talked to a claim representative at state farm and he so happened to have had 3 open claims within one month.all conversations lead this to being a defect in the making of the vehicle.not having this part, leaves my brake lights exposed.

Vehicle was at a complete stop with foot on brakes, and it accelerated at a high speed.consumer had stopped with foot on the brakes.the vehicle speeded up and consumer had to cut the vehicle off to stop.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they found nothing wrong.the vehicle is also experiencing electrical problems.*jg

2003 cadillac cts - the backup light assembly came off in car wash... Dealerships are well aware of problem but say their hands are tied because of gm.they said the reason was because the supplier to cadillac used an incorrect epoxy to build the part.gm knows about the issue but will do nothing.part is over $550 to replace!!one search on internet brings up hundreds of complaints for same issue.this is ridiculous.i called cadillac and they said they would call if a recall was issued, but they can do nothing more.

While entering the highway at about 50mph i noticed well into a left veering merge, that my vehicle engine had shut off. All the accessories were still running as far as radio and air conditioner while the battery light flashed on the dash. My steering wheel locked in a cocked position as well as losing the ability to stop the vehicle with the brakes. I was forced to slam the emergency brake to the floor to get my vehicle to stop before being crunched from oncoming highway traffic at 60 to 80+ mph. While also trying to avoid from being rear ended! once i finally got the vehicle stopped i was able place it into park and turn the key to the "off" position. After restarting the ignition the car seemed fine.

2003 cadillac cts.consumer writes in regards to vehicle starts up and drives for a while then shuts down without warning.the consumer also stated the idler arms and crank sensors were replaced.

While driving turning left onto an expressway entrance my engine shut down i believe it was the ignition switch. I've taken the vehicle to the dealer numerous times and they can't seem to find a solution. I am in fear that one day this car will lose power at the wrong time and cause a serious if not fatal accident. I would like the problem fixed or a reimbursement to invest in a new vehicle before it is too late.

The 2003 cadillac cts has various electrical problems, where the power/instrument panel display cuts out repeatedly. The safety concern that alarmed me enough to find this form has happened 3 times where i am driving on the highway and suddenly the car's power shuts off and the message display is to re-start the car. When this happened, i put the car in neutral, turned off the ignition and re-started the car (twice on the highway at higher speeds and once on a local road at lower 30 -40 mph velocity. With no reason or warning.

While traveling at moderate speed vehicle began shaking violently and loosing power. The engine was missing on one or more cylinders. Dealer recommendedreplacing coil, sparkplug, valve cover gaskets and oil cooler. This seems to have been causedby a defect mentioned in cad cts tsb id # 1609265 dated 2005. This tsb states that the crankcase vapors and engine oil will vent through the cam/valve cover seals when the crankcase ventilation system becomes blocked. The oil on this vehicle evidently vented and leaked several places includinginto the ignition coils causing a short. If this had happened in interstate traffic at high speeds this could have caused an accident or if the oil had leaked on very hot surfaces possibly a fire. The tsb specified kits that were to be installed to prevented this from happening. Evidently, these were never installed on this vehicle.

I saw a blue spake when i had gotten out of my car and left the door open. The spark was located on the inside of the drivers side door. I got back in my car. It showed that the drivers door was ajar. I reshot the door it still showed the door was ajar. I pressed the clear bottom the car seemed smoky i tried to roll down the window but my windows was not working nor was the radio. I drove a mile to my home and parked away from the house. I rushed to get everything out of the car. The trunk would not open so i let the back seat down so i could reach my things. The car continued to smoke and ended in a full blaze. We called 911 and the fire truck came and put out the fire.

Purchased the car used in january 2005. Electrical problems, car shut down at will going 5 miles per hour or 65 miles per hour. Condition resulting replacing wiring harness. $2,000.00.car is a 2003 with approx 70,000 miles.

Since i purchased the vehicle used from a cadillac dealer i had experienced the vehicle would shut down when the vehicle would hit a pot hole or hard bump.i had dealership and several mechanics from other garages over the years check for engine shut down.no one was able to replicate the issue.recently the news has been discussing issues with general motors ignition problems.i went out to my vehicle and started it, put the vehicle in drive and smacked my key ring and the vehicle stalled.my primer key ring contains a large number of keys with weight to themwhen i would drop of the vehicle i would always leave a single key.since the news broadcast i have only used a single key and have had no additional issues.i would like someone to address my complaint or examine my vehicle because i see no information indicating that the cadillac models are involved in this issue.i believe that this problem is more widespread.this stalling has happen several times over the years.on of the most critical incidents occurred on a rainy night while traveling in the left lane of a 4 lane limited access highway.i struck a large pothole and the vehicle shut down.being a very experienced driver i placed the car in neutral and attempted to restart the vehicle.there was no response to this attempt.there was no left shoulder so i activated the emergency flashers, brought the vehicle to a stop and placed the vehicle in park. Again an attempt was made to start the vehicle with no success.the key was removed, placed back into the ignition switch at which time the vehicle restarted.this incident almost caused a high speed rear end collision because i was unable to get off the roadway.

Purchased 2003 cts used in 2007 with 54,000 miles.at 60,000 miles, the serpentine belt broke and destroyed engine in the middle of rush hour traffic.30 days later coil went out and had to be towed again.approximately 30 days after that the other coil went out and again vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs.currently the car is sitting in my driveway and will not start.took to repair shop close to my house and they said the electrical system is too messed up to run a diagnostic on it.prior to the vehicle dying in the driveway, the engine shut down in the middle of the road on two separate occasions. I lost steering and had to push it off the road.it is a dangerous and unreliable vehicle and should not be on the road.i contacted cadillac but received no response.the car currently has only 74000 miles on it with a total of maybe 20000 added in three years of ownership mostly due to the car needing constantrepairs.i cannot afford to make the payments and pay for repairs both at the same time.i do not trust the safety of this vehicle.

Car shutdown during driving. This has happened 2 times since i bought it used in december 2015

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. The failure recurred on a separate occasion. The vehicle was serviced six months ago under nhtsa campaign number: 14v394000 (electrical system) however, the remedy failed to correct the failure. Starting around september, my car would randomly shut off while in motion, at various speeds. After hundreds of dollars in diagnostic fees, i found some cadillac forums stating it was a crank shaft sensor malfunction, which is common in 2003 models. My car would also show the traction control was off with no warning, and not get out of gear while being on, with no warning as well. The computer system would show low oil pressure and other warnings although nothing was wrong. And lastly, at around 78,000 miles, while driving 70 on a highway, the car make a huge bang, and smoke erupted, almost causing me to crash on the highway. All the oil leaked out, and the car won't start. I'm being told to replace my entire engine because of a possible head gasket, which according to multiple forums, tends to be faulty in the '03 models. These should obviously be recalled if so many cars are affected. I'm paying over 5000 dollars in repairs and costs for this. I refuse to ever let anyone i know, as well as myself, purchase another cadillac, unless this gets resolved.

2003 cts - service tracking system began to display and engage frequently. Took to local dealer and was told nothing was wrong with vehicle. Problem continued and began vibrating badly and pulling toward left (unable to brake). Returned vehicle several times before they replaced "steering sensor" $650.00.two months later began to lose power immediately after start up, dealer replaced battery. While driving vehicle home problem began again. Displayed low battery, then multiple warning lights for service (abs, tracking, airbag ect...). Returned vehicle to dealer and they are currently replacing alternator. I have no confidence that this is the real problem based on what i have read on-line regarding this same issue.i also have same leakage issues from both coolant and oil sources that i have read on-line.dealer continues to tell me to replace both gaskets and thermostat. These again are common issues that are posted consistently on-line by consumers.these are seriously dangerous failures based on people's personal safety. Gm must step up and honor these safety issues by recalling these items. Inability to control vehicle due to tracking system engaging and not able to brake, vehicle losing power and stalling while driving 50 miles an hour, and lastly fire hazard due to leaking plastic valve cover gaskets.

When driving at varying speeds the stability system comes on, disengaging the cruise control if on, and jerking the vehicle to the left.took the vehicle to dealer for repair, but situation not resolved.the stability system engaged message comes on at an average of every 2 minutes.

At about approximately 4:22 am this morning my car was engulfed in flames in my driveway. I was awakened by my cadillac cts 2003 car alarm as the flames we're visible thru my bedroom window. At which time i ran outside to turn on the water hose to turn off the fire as my family was sleeping in the house. My husband's car was right next to my cadi that had a full tank of fuel. I called 911 and the fire department arrived to turn off the fire on the cadillac cts 2003. And for more than ten minutes the fire was still blazing as the firemen unable to control the flames. My car is gone as it burned down. Please help me to understand why this happened. I only carried liability as this was all i could afford. (1) flickering display lights; buzzing when turn signal engaged; battery died after 30,000 mile maintenance; eight [8] consecutive times of "engine hot--ac turned off" on dic--last time with check engine light on display.

I purchased this vehicle in november 2011 with approx. 97,000 miles showing on the odometer.during athanksgiving holiday trip of some 1600 miles, consisting mostly of highway driving with the cruise control engaged, and for no apparent reason, the asc (automatic stability control) would disengage the cruise control, "tug" the vehicle to the left or right slightly, seemed to have a slight braking effect (although it may have been the sudden deceleration that caused the sense of braking) and would display " stability control engaged".this occurred numerous times.also, on this same trip, the "traction control" would engage, without warning or need, and disengage the cruise control causing sudden, unexpected, deceleration.this too happened numerous times. Although i did notice that the "traction control" seemed to engage when in a curve on rough or bumpy roads.i concluded that this was the result of a sudden "wheel hop" or "spin" as a result of losing traction from the "bounce"when hitting a bump or rough spot. I've run the "onboard diagnostic system" several times and no codes pertaining to these events are displayed.

I have a 2003 cadillac cts with 52,000. Miles ..i bought it new /demo with 4,000. Miles on it. In the last two years i have had the car in the repair shop at the dealership 4x. The stability engaged system light appears and the car pulls to the left and the accelerator pedal vibrates. They can not fix and have replaced several areas of front end. Sse light still appears and is now more frequent. Yesterday it happened 6x in 20 min. I got off at the next exitand then upon brake pressure, vibrating pedal, abs engaged. I have been to many forums to try to find a fix for this problem to no avail. This problem is increasing and the car pulling and vibrating is going to cause an accident. Is that what it's going to take to demand this problem be repaired?you have to look into this problem. It is very numerous and gm is ignoring the problem or worse yet they don't know how to fix it...please help!

Traction control always come on,air bags lights on,cuts off if idle to long

Car shutdown during driving. This has happened 2 times since i bought it used in december 2015

Driving down road it just cut off other times it just would not start i have had it 3yrs and only got to drive it 2 mths i really wanted this car but never knew what was going to happen!also some kind of seal we had fixed blew maybe a week after it was fixed.

While driving at a steady speed and for no apparent reason, the stability system engaged, i was unable to control vehicle, could not engage brakes, vehicle began losing power & stalled in freeway traffic.lastly, the brakes vibrate and the car's valve cover gaskets are made of plastic which may leak & start a fire.

My daughter was driving her dad's 2003 cadillac cts on 1st march 2014 when she was involved in an accident.a vehicle tried to move over into her lane and when she tried to avoid the car she skidded and spun 360 degree and came to a full stop in a "t" position on the highway in atlanta.after it stopped, the car was completely shut off and could not get started. Thereafter another car broadsided the car and knock it to the curb moving the vehicle form the "t" position.her dad contacted marietta cadillac dealer a few days laterand informed them of the shut-off and asked if there were any recalls. The dealer said they would check and call back. There was no further response from the marietta, cadillac dealer. In august of 2014 i called general motor (gm) and informed them about the accident, the representative said it sounded as though the cause of the accident could be the ignition slip-of-the-key to another position causing the car to shut off.a carol from gm called me and went over my complaint, she later scheduled an appointment and said they would check the car then they would let us know if it has anything to do with the ignition. Carol told me to leave the cts at the cadillac dealer in marietta where an independent person would check it.i also told carol about a shut-off incident that occurred 11/2014 where suddenly shut off when my husband mistakenly hit the curb while turning onto the driveway.the car shut off on a busy throughway. On tuesday september 16, 2014, carol called and said that gm is not liable because they checked the car and they are not liable, she told me to return the car to enterprise the following day september 17, 2014 which was done.on september 18, 2014 my husband received the first recall notice to take the car to the cadillac dealer to have the ignition.

When the car is driving at 50 mph or higher a message is sent across the dashboard saying to "service stability system" i took it to a mechanic so sensors were bad and he could not find the issue, when this message appears on the dashboard at high speeds it feels like abs kicks in without me touching the brakes at all, so the car will brake on its own and almost caused a multi-car pile up because my car started braking on its own out of my control

My car stalled twice, while driving.it has happened six more time over the past 2 years, latest at 82499 miles.in all instances, the car stalls and the service stability system appears.after the car sits for a minute or so it'll start back up and drives normal.i've had it into several service stations and no one can diagnose or recreate the problem.i'm concerned it's a safety issues as it has happened on the freeway, which could potentially lead to a serious accident.i've seen several posts on the internet of other cadillac owners experiencing this same issue, however gm will not acknowledge it.

Driving 70+mph on freeway in fast lane. Car stop accerlating and no rpm the steeling wheel then locked on me while in the fast lane on freeway. I immediately pulled over restarted the car and was able to move safely off freeway.

As i was driving down the highway, the stability control light came on, then the brakes seemed to jerk a little and the car lost most of it's power. I had a mechanic test it, and they said they couldn't find a reason for it. The stability control light stayed on, but i didn't seem to have the problem again until about 2-3 months later when i was going 70 down the highway, lost all power and the motor shut down. Cadillac would not restart, had to have it towed over 2 hours back home, only to find that this time the timing belt had broken and the motor is blown since these cars have interference motors which causes the valves to get bent when the timing belt breaks. I am now without a vehicle and was almost in 2 accidents due to this.another issue is the light cover from the lights on the trunk came off in the car wash and broke. Apparently this is a known issue yet cadillac refuses to fix it. Their adhesive was not strong enough to hold on the plastic.this was my first cadillac, and will be my last.they are dangerous and they refuse to fix their failures.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle swayed abnormally from side to side with the illumination of the stability traction sensor light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the stability traction sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,204.the consumer stated back in 2012, she started having issues with the stability traction engaged displaying on the screen. When the foot pedal started to vibrate, she checked the manual to find the cause, and it stated the stability traction sensor needed to be replaced.after being quoted a price, of $500, she decided to wait. But, on may 29, 2013, while driving down the freeway, at 70 mph, the vehicle started to hop across the lane, the stability traction engaged was displayed on the screen. The consumer was able to drive to the dealer, where she was informed, again about the traction control sensor. Updated 11/20/13

I have a cts cadillac and it is seems to have a system problem.while driving the car the stability system engaged lights comes up and you hear a grinding noise.it has jerked on me a few times when this light comes on.gmc does not want to hear about the problem they do nothing.this is a dangerous situation for the driver because you have no idea when this light is going to come on and the car starts grinding and moving.i feel that gmc should take responsibility for this and do a re-call.i have purchased new tires, i have done what i thought would fix the problem, but this light is really scaring me and the way the car grinds and makes this noise while driving.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the stabilization warning light illuminated and the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician was unable to find a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000 and the current mileage was 166,000. Updated 8/28/14 updated 9/10/2014

Was entering the on ramp on to a freeway and just tapped the brake and noticed and heard the left front tire grind and the steering wheel pulled to the left real hard. I was going into a blind under pass and thought that if it seized up around the blind corner i would surely be in an accident. I first thought that a stone chip was in between the brake and rotor. The car was towed away to a aaa location about 3 miles away. The service station then took it out around the block and was not able to duplicate. The put the car up and the lift and could not see anything that was wrong. Then i took them out around the block real slow and the left front brakes would grind away. They tested it and could not find anything wrong no error codes. They i said could drive the car home from san diego to south orange county not didn't make it a block away before it locked up the left front tire. Was able to limp to marvin k. Brown auto center about a mile away and it was there for two weeks and $500.00 for a steering sensor replaced. Then it continued to happen and the cts was taken to tustin cadillac and they tried to correct the problems after spending 2 days at the dealer and $1700.00 later the car continues to have not only the left front but now it is the right front. The brakes continue to activate on both the left and right front at anytime at any speed. This last time it felt like the left rear activated, the car got out of control every one around me backed off. I have been driving the car through the locking of left or right front tires and it does say ding and read " check stability system"this car it no longer save to be driven and i was told the last part to fix it is"obsolete" the only thing that might work is to disable the "stability system" by unplugging the fuses on in the trunk on up front.

While driving at a steady and even speed my car would suddenly pulled to the left as if the left front wheel had the break apply. Almost instantly my "stability system engaged" display would go on and the car would correct itself. This went on to become a regular event with each time i took the car out. The most it occurred was 30 or so times in a 90 mile trip, but it happened regularly on local 2 mile trips to the store. Sometimes it would be more severe than others . In addition andoccasionally, when the breaks were applied, there would be a "loudish" crunch sound and resistance to foot pressure that would give way after the initial break application. There was also a vibration "buzz" through the gas pedal when this all would occur. The first time i took the car to the dealer they could not find anything wrong or duplicate the problem. I took them information i had found on the web about the problem and they checked their service bulletins for a problem. It was fixed by changing a steering sensor at a cost of $430.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving at 70 mph, the stability control malfunctioned, deactivated the cruise control and jerked the vehicle to the left and right.this has occurred on 30 separate occasions at various speeds and intermittently without the cruise control activated.the service dealer was unable to recreate the malfunction. The manufacturer was notified.the dealership was able to duplicate the problem, however the problem returned several days later. Updated09/19/06.

The 2003 cts is equipped with stability system.seems that the stability system can fail whereas it engages at high speed and momentarly applies braking to one wheel.dealer (mcginnis cadillac) stated it wasn't possible, bit discovered during atest drive that it was indeed.after a week of trial and error they discovered a bad sensor in the wheel.imagine traveling at 70mph and having one wheel momentarly lock up due to an onboard system.has the potential of dragging the car out of it's lane, perhaps even under a large freight truck.perhaps flipping the car as well.

The crank and cam sensors have caused the vehicle to stall out while driving or being stopped.i have seen several complaints online regarding this issue in my car and other gm cars.how many complaints have you received for this issue in gm cars.it seems the dealership should have recalled this since it is a well known and documented issue and is a safety issue with cars stalling in the middle of driving and while being stopped.i stalled on a freeway on ramp, at a stop sign and while being parked on the side of the road.

I bought this car for my son that go to college at san jose state university, his been using this car since 2015 till 2019. Recenty about a month ago his complaining the car has been overheating for no reasons, he says that the gauge goes all the way up everytime he drive it but its ok if the car engine is running but in park mode. We ended up got the car towed to merced. Since july of 2019, the car is the garage and never drive. We only start the car mostly to warp up the engine but not drive. We have a friend mechanic look at it and can't point out the right problem, a lot of assumption possible the thermostat, or radiator, water pump, or the fan, etc.

Purchased car from dealership in oct 2015.while driving, i begin to smell burning oil and noticed oil leak under vehicle on left side.took it to a mechanic to see where leak is coming from and he stated that valve cover gasket is leaking oil out as well as oil is present in the spark plug reservoirs. Will have to get gaskets replaced before further damage is caused.this seems to be a common problem with this model vehicle and i recently saw on news where gm recalled other models and years of vehicle with same issue.why wasn't this model cadillac included in the recall when is should have?

My cts have been in the shop numerous time for smoke and the smell of oil burning coming from the engine compartment.after years of taking my vehicle to the dealership and having parts replace the problem still occur.

Leaking valve cover gaskets resulting in oil on coils, oxygen sensor and risk for oil related fires.the smell of burning oil is prevalent because of oil on hot engine parts.a review of various internet forums shows this is a common problem on this make/model.a consensus opinion appears to be the valve cover gaskets were made from inferior materials.since this is a fire safety issue and/or a result of the manufacturer's negligence, this car should be recalled.

I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the vehicle lost all power. I was almost hit by the cars behind me. The timing belt had broken, and the motor is now blown due to the valves being bent. This was not only dangerous for me and my family, but is very very costly. I had previous issue with the vehicle losing power once while driving, also almost got into accident, but the mechanic could not find the cause.this was about 3 months earlier. It only happened on the highway going between 60 - 70 mph.this is so dangerous! i was over 2 hours from home, and had to pay a ridiculous amount to have the vehicle towed back home.

I have had my car stop running several times during the time i have owned it... It has always been at a stop light. The car just shuts off. I have to restart it again. It does it on occasion , sometimes months apart. I am just hoping that it will never shut off like that while driving down the highway.

I thank the lord that even when we were in harm's way, he jehovah god protected us. All the glory to jesus christ that their was no lost of life. Material things can be replaced. I am grateful to god for his mercy and grace. He has total control and i know that he was with us. I was not aware that these cars have a history of catching on fire. I am glad that we were not on the road when this happened. My mother suffered a stroke and this could of been more detrimental but god did not permit the hand of the enemy to touch us physically, halelujah to the lamb of god! i am blessed to be a child of god! i know that he will give us justice because he does not forsake his children and he is a god that does not lie. Tsb 05-06-01-007athis has happened to my cadi on at least three occasions.first time, cadillac dealer charged to replace thermostat.didn't work.next time, repair shop replaced oil gasket.didn't work.this time i found the below description on line and will ask my repair shop to fix.if this is recurring to cts owners, there really should be a recall.it is also a fire hazard.irritating.my research found the below and it is right on target.....it rarely happens because it is rarely below 10 degrees in my neck of the woods....the car involved was a 2003 cadillac cts. Started vehicle in approximately 7 degree weather. After starting vehicle and running for approximately 15 minutes notice severe power loss. Within next couple of minutes black smoke with extreme burning smell flooded vehicle interior compartment also smoke starts to come from under hood of vehicle. Pulled into safe location found huge oil leak on left side of engine around valve cover. Could have possibly started a fire due to highly combustible oil being blown on engine but luckily did not catch on fire. Check on-line found tsb 05-06-01-007a stating gm knows this is a problem. "when operating in extremely cold weatherconditions, some 2003-2004 vehicles with 3. 2l v6 engine may leak engine oil from the cam/valve seals, especially from the left side just below the oil fill hole in the cam/valve cover. " this is quite a bit more than a leak since approximately a quart of oil was blown on the engine in only a couple minutes. If the engine would have been hotter there could easily have been a fire. Since this is a know issue with a known cause shouldn't this be taken care of by gm or at least the safety of the drivers and passengers should be considered. It could have been much worse if the vehicle would have caught fire.

I was driving downhill on dallas rd in west richland, wa i started to apply brakes to turn into quail springs apartment complex, idk whether it was due to the road or the way i hit the brakes but it moved my key out of the run position causing the engine to turn off, i was slowing down progressively from 55 miles an hour and heard something that sounded like my engine had fallen apart.after getting it stopped i popped the hood and noticed damage to my tensioner pulley it had came off and my serpentine belt had shredded, i called and got it towed to the nearest place i could to get it looked at. When replacing the serpentine belt they said it'd be good to check the timing belt as well just in case. Upon checking it they noticed pieces of serpentine belt had gotten inside of there somehow causing the timing belt damage. With this type of engine if timing belt gets ruined 98% valves and pistons kiss which causes bent valves on the head. I was told the car would not run anymore unless i put a brandnew engine in and they wanted to charge me 6000 for that, i looked up a used engine on ebay for 650 they still wanted 3000, i don't have that kind of money sitting around and have been suffering without my vehicle since this happened. I've missed work and am lucky me or child weren't hurt during this situation. I called the local cadillac dealership this morning and explained what happened the guy i spoke with was very rude and told me theres nothing the could do to help me, i asked about the recall again and he said i need to call corporate i dialed the number he gave me and didn't get thru to anybody. Lucky i looked up the number myself explained the situation to them they gave me a case # and said i'd be contacted within 1to 2 business days by a senior advisor. Bottom line is i'm still stuck without a working vehicle due to this recall.

Engine stopped running. Would not restart. Had to have vehicle towed to authorized cadillac service center (green buick gmc, davenport, ia). Green replaced parts (throttle body, part 9128412, connector part 15306420, seal part 90412566) with new ones and then cleaned, at a cost of $1,425.82. To be fair, in retrospect, green should have cleaned old part to save customer unnecessary costs. Now, three years later, this expensive fix is needed again. According to lujack northpark auto, davenport, iowa, (invoice no. Cvcs863235) date 05/05/14, milage: 113716, these parts need to be replaced again already. (48000 miles later)that means that the $1,425.82 we paid to green was lost to either inferior quality parts (planned obsolesence) or sabotage by the authorized service centers. This car was in lujacks three times this year. Twice their technician removed & replaced v/c& vit gaskets. (parts vs50628r & ms96103. See cvcs854609 & 855596) which means removing these parts. Gm refused to make any good faith effort at resolving issue (see gm file # 71-1305208758) updated 11/24/2014

My car just shut off in the middle of exceleration.........this happen to me 2x... Once to oncoming traffic!!!and the other just before a blue line train...dealership takes this very lightly.i guess someone has to die first..it is in the shop right now. I have so many issues that i don't think i should be having or had when new too. .i also noticed that wheremy airbag on my steering wheel .is looks like it is separating...not sure but it is not flush....i'm afraid to ask about that since all it does is cost me$$$$$$$also i had brakes fixed that weren't that bad because of noise but the noise is still there not all the time but more frequent and it sounds like its from some part of clutch part not the brakes.....new brakes didn't fix anything.. I am fixing this car more than what i am writing about. The 1st month i bought it i had to return for a bolt was coming loose on my steering column...found out it was a recall. I need to talk to someone for work that was done to my car that later i found was not my work order or my vin #. Or my mileage... After i paid for half the work since my car wasn't brought in for any of that stuff.. Only a stability light to be checked... Which after 11months when i took it back again... Found that was never taken care of.. Thats why it would come off and on ... I was just tired of being taken... Thats how i felt.. Being that i am a women........

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine compartment emitted smoke. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the valve cover gasket would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the valve cover gasket was replaced a second time. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact owned a 2003 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact turned sharply to avoid an animal. The engine stalled, but the vehicle continued to coast and crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy and the contact was launched through the windshield. The contact sustained lower back, neck, and head injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v394000 (electrical system); however, the failure was already experienced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. While driving 50 mph, the traction control indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted after six minutes, but it shook and idled roughly. The failure occurred twenty times. The dealer stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 145,197.

The pcv valve system design is defective. On (4) occasions the pressure build-up causing massive oil leaks at the valve cover. I experienced smoke from the engine compartment as oil leaked onto a hot engine. A potential engine fire. It took years for the cadillac dealers to correct the problem.this is a extreme cold weather issue.the automobile was in arizona for a few years and the issue was not a problem but once returned to michigan, the problem got serious.i have all of my repair documents.this car should has been recalled.it is not safe to drive. I was lucky as i was near dealers when this occurred.

While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The consumer managed to restart the vehicle. There was a loud noise inside of the vehicle, rough jerks at shifts, vibration at mid to high speeds, loud noise from back tires when riding over bumps, burning smell from under the hood along with smoking, water in the tail light, black exhaust dust/dirt in the tail pipe, the engine would shake.the jerking was as if the brakes were applied while in drive. *sc

Oil leak from frozen pcv valve and valve cover gasket.causes oil to leak onto engine and exhaust and fumes from burning oil to enter into the cabin of the car.

The dealer unkinked a fuel tank hose.this problem made it difficult to pump gas into the tank.this vehicle is not getting the proper gas mileage and burns too much oil, engine cooler leaking fluid, when the vehicle sits overnight it has to be cranked two or three times before the engine starts .*jg *nlm

2003 cadillac cts all i can say is im disgusted with this car nothing but problems. I don't know if that leakage that is reported on here had something to do with what happened but now i have a car sitting in my driveway which i can't use because it has a loud knocking sound coming from engine. Which most than likely needs replaced which is very expensive can i say first cadillac and will never buy another one ever..

Design flaw? plastic valve cover failure. Oil leaking on engine.

I am and have been experiencing numerous failures with my vehicle. I have contacted gm numerous times beginning approximately a few months after i purchased the vehicle to inform them that the vehicle is defective, only to be told my vehicle is out of warranty, so they refuse to fix it or give my one that is not defective. My vehicle is still defective to this date.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated whenever the vehicle was not started for a few days it would only start with a jump start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times who stated the battery caused the failure to occur. A brand new battery was installed but the vehicle would not start. The contact also stated that the trunk was too heavy to stay in the up position each time she opened it. The trunk had fallen onto her head but there were no injuries. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 90,100.

The vehicle was in for repairs twice concerning a coolant problem.the dealership could not find the problem.the coolant reservoir was replaced, and then a month later there was a leak coming from the engine cooler, also it takes two to three cranks before the engine starts and the engine is burning oil to fast.*jg

Engine oil leaks into the coolant system through the oil cooler located in under the intake manifold. The coolant will then turn into a thick substance which does not easily flow through the coolant system and the car engine will overheat. To correct the failure the oil cooler needs to be replaced as well as all rubber coolant lines and then the coolant system needs to be flushed to remove all contaminated coolant. Typical cost is around 4500 dollars for parts and labor. The mileage on my car was 121,000 when this happened but from reading on line many other people have had this same problem with mileage from 50,000 on up.

Car engine failed at 30,000 miles - it started making a clicking sound, so my husband decided to take it to the shop.he didn't even make it to the shop - just had to tow it.the car was driven gingerly by my 80 year old grandmother for 7,000 miles, then by me (age 40 with two children in car seats) for the remaining miles.cadillac offered to pay 1/2 the cost to rebuild, but the total cost was estimated at over $15,000.they said there weren't any new engines to drop in, but they found one used engine (with 1 mile on it) that they could use that would cost about $4,150.however, they wouldn't pay any of the cost of dropping in the used engine.we opted to replace the engine at our cost instead so we could get away with paying $4,150instead of $7,500.i complained to gm service department, and kept being given incorrect information.one person would tell me they would pay 1/2 the cost to repair or replace the engine, the next would say they would not pay.i kept good records of all persons contacted during the long, long process.they even had me gather all my prior service records so they could be certain the car) had been properlymaintained (which it had.)at one point i was even told (by the district specialist office at gm) that my grandmother had apparently purchased an extended warranty on it, and they could just use that.later, i was told that no extended warranty existed.i was led on and misinformed for 1 1/2 months, while my car sat at the dealership 90 miles away.i was without my vehicle for 1 1/2 months, while everyone decided what should be done, and as it ends up, it could have been done immediately if i hadn't been given the run around being told gm was going to help with the repair cost.not a good experience - not a good car.

Picked up vehicle from short term parking in approximately 7 degree weather.after starting vehicle and running for approximately 15 minutes notice severe power loss.within next couple of minutes black smoke with extreme burning smell flooded vehicle interior compartment also smoke starts to come from under hood of vehicle.pulled into safe location found huge oil leak on left side of engine around valve cover.could have possibly started a fire due to highly combustible oil being blown on engine but luckily did not catch on fire.check on-line found tsb 05-06-01-007a stating gm knows this is a problem. "when operating in extremely cold weatherconditions, some 2003-2004 vehicles with 3.2l v6 engine may leak engine oil from the cam/valve seals, especially from the left side just below the oil fill hole in the cam/valve cover." this is quite a bit more than a leak since approximately a quart of oil was blown on the engine in only a couple minutes.if the engine would have been hotter there could easily have been a fire.since this is a know issue with a known cause shouldn't this be taken care of by gm or at least the safety of the drivers and passengers should be considered.they have a correction listed in their tsb that looks to fairly inexpensive but since this is not on a recall list the cost for repair will be much larger due to the blown out gaskets.it could have been much worse if the vehicle would have caught fire.to fix before this happens to you use gm pcv hose kit, p/n 55558592 and oil filter cap, p/n 12589430.

1. I purchased a used 2003 cadillac cts in 2005 with 45,000 original miles from a gm dealership in ontario, oregon. It was reputed to be in excellent mechanical condition by the gm mechanics.2. This vehicle has since cut engine power spontaneously several times on the freeway and in town, presenting sudden and serious danger to driver, passenger, and other motorists as the vehicle must be steered powerless to the median/shoulder. Once we were in the middle lane of 75 mph freeway traffic and several vehicles were nearly involved in an accident.3. Gm tech's are unable to diagnose the problem after 7-8 attempts, so it continues to recur. Gm refuses to repurchase the vehicle despite their inability to diagnose, enforce the warranty, and the obvious danger to all involved. The better business bureau would not arbitrate because mileage was over 24,000. I am currently seeking legal counsel, but feel this vehicle should not be on the road.

Just got off the xway, stopped at red light. While waiting at the light, which was stuck red for about 5 min, both (hid) head lights failed at the same time. They flashed on & off 3 times, than stayed out. I switched on the fog lights so i could drive the last 3 miles home. The dealer had to replace both lights at a cost of over $2,000. The dealer had no idea what caused both to fail at the same time. I wrote a letter to cadillac customer service. They called me and said they would not forward the info to a technical dept to determine the cause. I estimate there are 10,000 miles on these lights. I wrote a second to cadillac, again they called me and said they were closing the file on this case. To me this is a safety issue as it could happen again at 70 mph on a curve. These (hid) lights are a pricey option and are sold that under normal use they should last the life of the car.

The plastic panel cover for the reverse lights fell off, and now the reverse lights are exposed.

The rear back up light panel has a plastic cover over it. Mine fell off and i am having a terrible time replacing it. I contacted cadillac, but they don't sell that piece anymore. They have redesigned a replacement that will not fall off but it costs over $500 and cadillac won't cover it because they claim it has not been recalled. As i drive up and down the streets and highways in chicago, i notice many 2003-2007 cadillac cts are also missing this part. How can this plastic part fall off with out cause and yet not be recalled?

2003 cadillac safety issues:premature and rampant failure of the ebcm - electronic brake control module.it is widely known these modules fail and cannot be rebuilt.dealer cost is over $500 with most dealers charging more than $750.premature and rampant failure of the rear center brake light.gm even admitted failure of the neon lights used for this application and quickly switched to a reliable light media.replacements range from $250 used (if you can find one that works) to $500 retail at gm.both of these units are known high failure items and both cost a fortune through your local gm dealer.

The rear back up light fell off my 2003 cadillac cts. I called the dealership to see about getting another one put on, only to learn that gm does not even make that part anymore due to it being defective. To fix my vehicle i would have to order a newer made part that cost approximately $697.00. After doing extensive research on the internet, i learned that this is a problem that numerous consumers have encountered. The dealership said that the manufacturer that produced this part for gm did not use the correct epoxy to adhere the back up light to the body of the vehicle, and i would have to call gm corporate office to take the "problem" up with them. After almost a month of the district specialist "investigating" the problem, he told me he would call me with a final decision and never called. I have placed calls to them everyday since and i kept getting the run around. Supposedly no one but the district specialist handling my case can help me and he will not answer or return my calls. My question is this, under the law someone cannot sell anything knowing that it is defective. With vehicles all exterior components of the vehicle are suppose to withstand "mothernature" and natural occurrences of the weather, so why when knowing the part is defective do they expect the consumer to replace it? gm claims that because it can not cause bodily harm they do not have to replace it or recall the defective part.is this what our economy has come to, large corporations swindling the "little" consumers that keep them in business?with gm filing bankruptcy and the taxpayers and government "bailing" them out, you would think they would want to treat their "little" consumers better. How is it legal for them to know a product is defective, to the point they won't even make that same product to replace it when it tears up but are not responsible for fixing it?

While i was driving down the highway, i heard a loud noise, when i looked back the plastic piece which covers the two small lights around my license plate, had flown off and hit the car behind me.fortunately there was no damage done, however the part obviously broke, and a new part costs anywhere from 750.00 to 1000.00 dollars (for a plastic piece that is no more then 28 inches long)every vender of this part i have called has told me it is so expensive because so many people have them fall off of their cars.there is no clips or screws to hold the part on, which means even if i buy another one the same thing could happen. My biggest concern is the car behind me.

2003 cadillac cts - the backup light assembly came off in car wash... Headlights project black bar across roadway obstructing street signs, stop signes, etc.dt

Dark bar obstructing night lumination. Have had the lights adjusted three times. Cadillac will not correct. Unable to drive car safely at night. Light shines as far as the top of trees and underpasses. On coming drivers flash their lights as if i have my high beams on.

A black bar appears about 75 feet in front of the car with the low beams on.this is particularly noticeable when driving along narrowcountry roads in the area in which i live.i feel that this is an unsafe design and have reported it as such to cadillac but the company doesn't see anything wrong with a low beam system that has a built in blind area in the projected beam in the drivers line of sight. Request you investigate this safety complaint please.dt

When the headlights were on low beam they produced a dark spot.as a result, vision is impaired.*sc

Consumer states vehicle head light has a purple line through head light lens. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further information.

Headlight cover on cadillac cts 2003 develops cracking and spider webs, such that visibility is diminished.i have noticed this on all older cts vehicles in the phoenix area.it may be due to the sun.however, this problem does not appear on other older vehicle headlamps.the dealer will not repair despite extended warranty.repair can only be done via replacement on the entire headlamp assembly which costs in excess of $1,300 plus labor by a gm dealer.

(corrected complaint) headlight low beam on the cadillac cts 2003 has a black bar that reduces vision to about 75 feet and on dark country roads, this shortened vision is extremely dangerous. The headlight should be a recall before serious accidents occur as a result of this condition. What was cadillac thinking? cadillac doesn't seem to think there is a problem but obviously they don't ever drive their product on dark roads at night. This headlight problem needs to be corrected!! it is awful!

Low beams on the headlights has a black bar in my line of vision.creates a "blind" spot and makes night driving on the country roads near my home dangerous.it also creates an area of darkness that doesn't light up stop signs or intersections along these roads .i feel this should be something that has to be corrected!! i drive along these roadways while it is dark twice a day 4 times a week on my way to and from work.i would feel more comfortable if my entire line of vision was lit up.thankfully i have the use of the high beams that do not have this dark bar.

Dt: 2003 cadillac cts.safety defect includedthe low beam lights. A shadow is present when the lights are on low beam.contacted the local dealership and they told the consumer that they would fix the problem for 50% of the cost. There was a spot in the headlights which caused low visibility at night.

Headlights project a black bar at night across roadway, making it difficult to see and obstructs street signs. Talked to dealer several times about this problem but was told that nothing could be done about it.

Hid headlights s.u.c.k., in almost all instances where i have had the misforune of having a vehicle so equiped coming at me i have had to shield my eyes because of the glare and eye strain. Knowing that dot and associated agencies seem to have a regulation for everything automotive. I thought maybe a useful regulation could be enacted regarding these safety hazards that the "big 3" are trying to pass off as headlights. I am now living in europe and here headlights don't glare drivers like us spec lights do. Why does the rest of the world have real headlighs and in the us we have to have these poorly aimed "flood lights".current us headlights are in serious need of a new standard that matches the rest of the world. That way i, and the rest of the motoring public, won't have to drive with sunglasses on at night.

The clear back lens of the 2003 cts is full of condensation and water. Took it to the car dealer in new rochell . They drill pilot holes to allow for the water to drain, this did not resolve the problem. I still have plenty of condensation in the back clear white lens in the back trunk. What should i do.

We have work on this type of cars before and it seems to be that there's a problem with the tail lights. I believe they were made to weak.

We own a 2003 cts cadillac with 40,000 miles and still under warranty.i have had the car in for repair several times for the same reason.the car shakes at certain speeds.eg. 47, 59,65,69, and 75 miles per hour.the wheel actually shakes in my hands.it is a problem with the transmission.cadillac stated it was characteristic of the 2003 cts.maybe an escort but not a cadillac.they offered to extend the warranty on the transmission to 100,000 miles.whoopie. I now must drive a car that i feel is dangerous to drive.i really believe the transmission will totally fail and soon.it gets worse and worse.thanks for viewing this letter.

Loud high pitch howling noise heard from inside at approximately 40 mph and over.the first trip to the dealer i was told it was a wind noise.the second time at the dealer's i was told it is a normal characteristic of the 2003 cts.

Rear differential whine on my 2003 cadillac cts. The slightest pressure under light acceleration causes the whine.dealers are useless.

Inner differential bearing noises are getting progressively worse. With so many complaints why is the cost to repair/replace not covered by gm/cadillac. I am afraid to drive the car now that it is leaking.

Have 2003 cadillac cts,had the differential replaced because it was howling & getting worse (this is common complaint by owners of 2003 - 2005 cts models - see cadillac users group, cts forum). Picked up car after differential was replaced. Drove approximately 2 miles from dealer when differential locked up at 50 mph. Managed to control slide/skid and slide off four-lane road surface without hitting other vehicles, but had it happened a mile further down the road, i'd have been on i-85 in heavy interstate traffic at 70 mph...dealer replaced failed rear end with another new one which, thus far (500 miles or so) is trouble-free, but in view of the problems i & others have experienced with these units, i have little confidence that the basic problem has been resolved. Uncomfortable at thought of depending on vehicle from both safety & basic transport aspect - reluctant to contemplate a long distance trip for these reasons.called cadillac & they sent a warranty rider extending coverage of the differential/carrier assembly to 2010 or 100,000 miles, which is useful. However, gm mindset seems to be that it is cheaper to replace these units as they fail with new units with the same flaw , than it is to determine why they are failing, correct the flaw & provide owners with redesigned, safe units. I may be off a bit on the actual date of the incident involving failure of differential as my dealer, classic cadillac in montgomery, al, has not as of yet provided me a copy of the paperwork documenting the incident & installation of the third differential. I called my service rep yesterday & he apologized for the "oversight" & said they'd mail me the documentation.the differential that seized is not available - i told them i wanted to see it, but was informed that they had to send it back in order to get another replacement.

Noticed a high-pitched whine coming from rear at 50000 miles.stopped by the dealership, the service manager drove the vehicle and stated it was the tires causing the noise.continued to drive the vehicle, sound became more pronounced.a check engine light appeared, so needed to service the car.this repair was unrelated to the whine, an emission control valve had failed.while at the dealership requested they check, again, the whine from the rear.was notified that indeed it was the differential that needed replacing. Have not taken possession of the vehicle, but am concerned about driving it now.much concerned about the reliability of the vehicle.

My vehicle developed a humming noise coming from the rear differential at 30,000 miles.the dealership found that my rear differential was full of metal and stated that the whole differential must be replaced since the metal churning through the gears ruins the whole unit.7,000 miles later the noise returned.the dealer again found metal in the differential, but this time cadillac told them to simply put some special lubricant in it!all this, after they told me last time that this type of problem requires replacement, and nothing less.i was told to drive my car for a few weeks and shockingly enough, the magic lube did nothing for the problem.after reading several reports from people who had the rear differential of this car sieze up(even causing accidents), i approached the dealership for a loaner.i was denied a loaner, and the manager had the nerve to tell me the noise was normal.why on earth they fixed a "normal" car the first time is beyond me.when i asked them to show me another car on the lot that makes the same noise, they backed down.please help with this issue.i am afraid to drive my car!

When pulling from a light there was a clunk noise coming from somewhere on vehicle.took to mechanic and the bolts for the differential were loose and caused a leak. *nlm

The differential in my 03 cadillac cts developed a serious leak. The defect required (3) trips to the dealer to repair. The last repair, (appears to be the right one) was the replacement of the differential. This type of defect can lead to loss of differential fluid resulting in failure of the unit and possible accident. I have found this leak on several other "03" cts.

Transmission 5th gear keeps going out, origional and new trans. Have both gone out, all within 200 miles.gm will not fix the problem, because they have told me they don't know how to fix it.they wanted me to continue driving it, but i refused and after complaining for a week i was given a loaner.they don't even know if there is a safty issue or not.

The original transmission was replaced at 600 miles due to a rattling noise in 2nd and 5th gear.at 800 miles the noise reoccurred in the new transmission.cadillac claims to be working on a fix, however no one in the cadillac organization can comment on when the fix will take place.the noise continues to get worse and continues to get louder.

The failure mileage was 73,000.

There is a open recall effecting this year & make although my vin says there's no recalls on my cts. I had both front brake hose assemblies fail while driving. Luckily we didn't wreck. I've since had both repaired. Curious as to know why car was not listed with open recall.

Customers brake light came on while driving to repair shop, 3 mile trip, fluid was low, p/s front hose was swollen and busted leaking fluid, d/s front hose was swollen. Loss of breaking control evident while pulling car into shop. Contacted dealer to check on recall, was informed vehicle was not included. All signs, including vin break were the same. Repair is being done in facility, not under recall.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking brake fluid and the low brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. The contact observed smoke coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle near the tire. An independent mechanic confirmed the failure, but did not diagnose the cause of the failure. The contact was advised to refill the brake fluid container. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000.

I was driving home from work when this first happened. All of a sudden a loud screeching noise and the brakes would not stop in time. I had to pump the brakes to work. I took my car to cadillac in arizona and they had it for 2 days and could not find an issue. I drove home that day with it and sure enough it did it while i was home. It had now began to jerk me to the right and left when i press on the brakes, scaring me thinking i am going to hit the car next to me. I took it to midas this time and they noticed a problem and said maybe its a wheel barring. They replaced issue duplicated itself shortly after. Since i did not have a second car or pay for a rental i had to take my car home to go back to work the next day. This problem is a safety hazard and i have even been pulled over because the cop asked why i was swerving while driving. I told the office its the code that comes up on my screen and it makes my car halt while driving and i can not control it. He stated that its a very serious issue and if another officer was on duty they might impound my car due to a safety hazard but he would give me a chance to take it home to go to the shop. I am almost close to trading in my vehicle and buying a new one, but not a cts. If cadillac can't solve this, the creator, who can? i am scared i'm going to veer off the freeway or hit a car on the way to work. I drive an hour to and from work everyday and my safety is the utmost concern to me and my family.

Noticed oil puddle under vehicle which lead to discovery of total brake failure. Whendiscussed with dealer service manager stated "so what i have a denali at home with the same problem". Gm offered no relief or solution when contacted.

This morning when i backed my cts out of the parking spot to go to work i noticed the brakes were a little soft.i then parked the car and opened the hood to look at the brake fluid reservoir and noticed it wasn't completely full but there was still a sufficient level of fluid.i then looked at the ground and noticed a line of liquid that traced my movement backwards out of the parking spot and then back into the parking spot, this liquid was brake fluid.imagine my surprise at having a second gm vehicle with a brake line failure 30 days after experiencing a brake line failure for the first time in my 40+ years of driving and owning vehicles.the first was a 2001 tahoe which i reported last month to nhtsa and which cost me over $1,000 to replace all of the brake lines.after work this evening i examined the cts and discovered extreme corrosion in the two brake lines running from the master cylinder to the abs unit in the front of the engine bay. The corrosion is worst where the lines run behind the radiator and it appears both lines have failed.the lord must have been looking out after me because last night i drove 37 miles from baltimore on the interstate.had the brakes failed then i imagine i would have been in a spectacular accident on i-95 that may have taken my life as well as others. Gm recalled the cts for brake line corrosion by the calipers where the line connects inside a rubber piece.nhtsa is investigating brake line corrosion on 1999 to 2003 full size gm trucks and pickups and i suggest the investigation be expanded to include all gm vehicles of this vintage as it appears gm used an inferior grade of steel in their brake lines in all of the vehicles.

There needs to be an in-depth investigation regarding the number of cts and cts-v rear differentials that have been replaced. I have now been through 2 personally, and an online poll of 65 cts-v owners showed this:26% have had 1 replacement, 5% have had 2 or more replaced, and 8% have had 3 or more replaced.the link for this poll is:http://cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=305662&posted=1#post305662.please contact me regarding any information learned.thank you.!

While driving in framingham massachusetts, the front brakes suddenly failed making the cr very hard to stop and almost causing an accident. A brake shop checked the car and confirmed that the brake hose and broken loose leaving me without any front brakes. It cost $800 to repair the brake system and i feel that gm should refund me that money and also check my car to ensure that my brakes are not at risk of failing again.

I own a 2003 cts, approx. 1wk ago the "add brake fluid" message appeared on screen. While coming back to work from lunch, i pulled in the parking lot and while applying the brake noticed that it was almost completely to the floor before stopping. I called my husband, that evening he checked the front passenger side brake line which when simply touch fell completely off. It was corroded. He ordered the replacement piece which came in about 4days later, once replaced, he checked the front driver side, which when touched fell off with same diagnosis. He then checked the back brake lines which he found where made and put together entirely different, thus they where fine. This is obviously a recallsituation in my opinion that could have ended tragically.

I purchased my new 2003 cts in 2002 at pikeville, ky.currently there is a recall for the cts recall 10v105000 (gm recall no. 09149) that involves the front brake hoses rupturing due to road salt corrosion.however, the state of ky is not covered.we have road salt here as well.pikeville is just 20 miles from wv and it is covered there.my vin falls within the guideline.in 2007 before the recall it happened to me here in ky and caused me to have a crash. Since pikeville is so close to wv and my employer is there, i am in wv a lot.i feel that cadillac should honor me as well!!!however, gm refuses to honor the recall since i meet every requirement except the state.since it is a known problem, and i crashed, gm should repair my hoses under the recall.i am sure that if i decided to pursue litigation, i would be successful now that gm has admitted to the problem.the simple fact that i reside in ky is the only reason that i cannot reap the benefits of the recall.road salt is the same in ky as it is in wv.corrosion is corrosion.i have purchased over 15 new gm vehicles during my lifetime and am a dedicated gm owner.i currently own 4 gm vehicles.i am respectfully asking cadillac/gm to offer me the recall as well since i fall within the vin range and my close proximity to wv.as a matter of fact, ky should be included as well as all the surrounding states are also under the recall.i was in the process of purchasing a new camaro, but if this is gm's way of treating dedicated customers - i may rethink that.let's see....cadillac has admitted to the corrosion issue - i had the issue and crashed as a result - wonder how that would come out in front of a jury?all i ask for is for cadillac/gm to replace my front brake hoses under the recall....

I have a 2003 cts since new.the brakes almost completely failed last week.no dash light came on.the problem is easily seen.one of the lines from the master cylinder going to the abs unit badly corroded at the lowest point in its run where the line is supported. The line away from the support is in good shape so it looks like you have a design flaw or improperly implemented design with that support. I was extremely lucky and extremely disappointed. The car has never been in an accident and most of the underside body and hardware looks almost new.my dealer says they have replaced a number of cts brake lines.you have a problem i had a lot of trouble with the cts when it was new as you should be able to see from your records. Although replacedthe rear differential still howls.i expected better from cadillac.with that said i think gm ought to do something about the cts brake lines.

Nhtsa campaign # 10v10500 re; cadillac cts models brake line corrosion problems does not go far enough in scope, in my opinion. Our recently purchased 2003 cts had no record of compliance with this recall. In fact, both our local dealer and cadillac corporate cust service said they showed this recall did not apply to our vechicle. Being skeptical of that assertion because this vehicle had spent it's first two years in connecticut on lease, i had the brake system inspected at a local shop. They found (and i witnessed) the badly corroded brake hose fittings. As the mechanic pushed on the l.h. Rubber sleeve covering the hose to metal tube junction to see the extent of the rust, the hose separated from the tube !! this with only the pressure applied with one finger !!we were one hard braking application from a possible accident !!but there are other areas of concern, and those are the metal tubing lines in the front of the chassis that are part of the hydraulic braking ( and anti-skid) systems. Many of these lines are heavily rusted, making them as much a contributor to brake failure as the hoses.! i believe these lines should be subject to a recall or expansion of the hose recall.

Possibly due to reduced brake fluid levels the brake pedal on my 2003 cadillac cts went down to the floor, at which point the brake pedal arm became stuck behind a plastic under dash tray, resulting in reduced brake pedal travel and no breaking.luckily, this issue was discovered while at slow speeds (backing out of driveway), so the vehicle could be manually stopped.the brake pedal was dislodged from the obstruction, which was easy while the car was stopped and the operator could lean under the dash and move the pedal.at speed, it would have been nearly impossible to move the pedal.brake system was bled and additional fluid added to reduce brake pedal travel.problem has not recurred as a result.

I drive a 2003 cadillac cts.i noticed the brakes seemed to need repair (not responsive enough) and the "brake light" came on.my car had approx 70000 miles and the brake lines had corroded!i have the brake lines that were removed.a car with 70k miles should not have corroded brakelines. In addition, it took almost 2 weeks to get replacement parts and cost $250 to repair + rental car.this was a really bad accident waiting to happen.

While braking for some slow traffic, i felt a pop from the brake pedal. Only having about 25% use of the brakes i had to pull of the side of the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I had the car towed to the shop where the mechanic showed me the brake fluid leaking from the brake line connection. When he checked the other side the fitting snapped in his hand. What i would like to know is why cadillac did not notify me about this recall. After talking to cadillac they did confirm that this vehicle is covered under this recall.i now have to take the parts to a gm dealer along with my registration and receipt for repairs. I was told it will take 4 weeks to be reimbursed.

I have never owned a car with this many problems, i think this car is a total defect and needs to be recalled. That is clearly faulty equipment that was used in this car it is a 2003 cadillac cts, and it has many problems which i feel needs to be recalled.

My brakes and rotors had to be replaced after only 20,000 miles. Within 6 months my brake pads again needed replacement. I now have 34,000 miles on my car. This needs to be investigated. These brakes and rotors should not wear out this fast.

I was at 51000 miles when the air compressor went out and i called the manufacturer and they refused to fix it because the warranty was up. That is clearly faulty equipment that was used in this car it is a 2003 cadillac cts, and it has many problems which i feel needs to be recalled.

My 2003 cts cadillac key stuck in ignition and car engine shuts completely down. The ecm is reading like someone is stealing the vehicle while driving of park and want start. Defective recall. Gm should reimburse customers for this defective product. They did not fix the recall problem, they just put a band aid on it and should be held responsible for this recall for their defective product. No quality in their vehicles. The consumer is paying too much for their defaults. This are not cheap invoice vehicles, while they are getting bail outs, now we know why. And paying their ceo billions of dollars on the consumer's back. Why?? no consumer, no jobs for any of gm employees. I want to be reimbursed. Aged of the vehicle has nothing to do with default of gm vehicle products.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. While driving approximately 70 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the engine stalled.

The dealership told the consumer they did not know about a recall regarding the steering shaft bolt 03 v 115 000.the manufacturer stated all the dealerships were notified 3weeks prior to consumersbeing notified.

While driving, the steering failed, which caused the vehicle to run off the road.

Loss of vehicle control.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact was driving between 65 and 73 mph when the steering wheel turned sharply to the left. The weather was not a factor. The steering wheel became difficult to turn for approximately 15 seconds. He was able to drive onto the emergency lane. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing for the second time, as a result of power steering failure. The dealer could not duplicate the failure on two occasions. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000. The vin was not available. The approximate current mileage was 87,000.

Driving down a highway w/ brand new sumitomo tires for rear purchased on 1/10/15, the rear right tire blew causing me to loose control sending me into the guardrail then spun out into the highway landing horizontal across all lanes of traffic with my trunk end in the hov lane. I was then struct by a box truck, spinning me back around and totaling the vehicle. The sidewalls to the tire we still attached to the rim and the tread face had detached.

All power steering was lost due to a seal failure on the piston the positions the passenger right wheel. I discovered while speaking to the cadillac parts department, that the serial number range of my vehicle, requires the replacement of both the power steering pump as well as the rack and pinion assembly.it appears then that cars with a certain serial number may have had some engineering change which made the pump and rack and pinion incompatible. This is an obvious safety problem which should have been a mandatory recall and repair.

While driving on the freewayconsumer heard a noise under the vehicle.consumer tried to control the vehicle and it began to swerve. While trying to keep it under control, vehicle flipped over, and the air bags failed to deploy. Vehicle was totaled.the consumer believes the steering shaft bolt became loose and caused the accident.

Component in steering column failed....leaving a lot of play in steering wheel at high speeds. Censors did not pick up failure. Mechanic at dealer actually heard it making a noise. Dealership declared it unsafe to drive. Gm anticipates 2 to 3 weeks to get part off assembly floor.

While driving home from work i heard a slight crash noise, looked in my rear view mirror to see the bezel piece flew off my car and attached were the back up lights. The piece shattered and was irreplaceable. Upon research in cadillac blogs i read that this was an ongoing problem with 03-05 cts cars due to gm using a cheap glue to hold the piece on. Cadillac only agreed to replace the part if the car was still covered under their factory warranty, but i am not. Further research showed that they don't even offer athe same replacement piece, now a new part only available in an assembly kit ranging between 4-500 dollars. I find it unethical to sell a luxury car, and build it with cheap plastic pieces that simply fall off due to cheap adhesive, and cause danger to drivers behind me. The fact that the part was discontinued only proves that cadillac acknowledges the piece was cheaply constructed, and should offer replacements to all early cts models. When assembling automobile only quality parts should be used, not cheap plastic with faulty glue, i feel this warrants a recall, but one wasn't issued. Thanks for your time.

6 disc cd changer continues to get stuck, after attempting and failing to get cds to eject, i have come to start my car in the morning and they had ejected themselves over night. Other times a continuous noise if power to radio was on would emit as if system wastrying to eject cds on it's own but nothing would ever come out. In the end, resulting to even if power to radio was off, cd player still was making weird sounds even if key was not in ignition. All night and day the cd player would emit random noises that i believe may of caused my battery to be destroyed. After a few jump starts, a new battery was purchased.once the new battery was installed, the cd disc changer has become dormant and makes no sound or any type of response to any control buttons. It won't even go to the cd setting or show any type of error code on the display panel/screen. The car acts as if a cd player never existed.no shop will even attempt to take a look at it to assess the issue under the $100 mark. As of this date and time, all i get to do is listen to the am/fm radio and an occasional cassette tape if i come across one. Very upset about that, considering cadillac has other bose components, they could of splurged on a better cd system because cadillac owners have to replace the whole cd system with after market productsand lose the control panel display screens or keep the control display screen/panel and deal with only being able to play the radio/cassette player forever.

While parking and shifting vehicle into park and without any indication vehicle took off, resultingin acrash. Please provide furthr information.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited a recurring stalling failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times where several unknown repairs were performed on the vehicle but to no avail. The failure mileage was 59,730 and the current mileage was 79,000.updated 06/30/14 ma updated 07/3/2014

There was unintended acceleration when the vehicle is placed into wadrive. *mr the dealer could not duplicate the problem.the vehicle would have to be placed in neutral to stop or slow the vehicle.the consumer requested for the vehicle to be fixed or his money back. *sc

The vehicle would not back up when placed in reverse. When the accelerator was pressed, the vehicle would all of a sudden come to a jolting halt, the engine would rev from the gas pedal and still be depressed.the solenoid would be replaced which didn't fix the problem and then the consumer was told that a new transmission was needed. *sc

We own a 2003 cadillac cts that we bought new back in late 2002. It currently has about 85,000 lightly driven miles. About 1 1/2 years ago, the engine become stuck at high revolutions. In other words, the car accelerated to high speed and would not slow down. Had to turn off the engine to regain control. We referred to this as a "throttle control" problem--although that may not be the correct terminology. It was repaired by the cadillac dealer at that time (at considerable cost). Since then, the same problem has occurred two more times. It was repaired by the dealer about 6 months ago but the problem has now returned for a third time.the car is unsafe to drive as unexpected acceleration may occur at any moment. Most recently, the dealer claims that the problem is due to the engine control module (computer)--but it remains to be seen if that will indeed repair the problem. On another occasion, while on a short trip about 9 months ago, the engine began to run extremely unevenly--barely functioning. We limped into a cadillac dealer who diagnosed the problem as two faulty coils. They replaced those (again as considerable cost) and the car ran well again--until this latest episode of unexpected acceleration where the engine becomes stuck at extremely high revolutions.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. While parked, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a dumpster. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Consumer complained about a suddenacceleration problem. While driving at moderate speeds throughout the community, t he vehicle suddenly and without warning accelerated. The driver applied the brakes, but it wasineffective.the consumer had to place the vehicle in neutral in order to stop the vehicle. *sc

Driving 70+mph on freeway in fast lane. Car stop accerlating and no rpm the steeling wheel then locked on me while in the fast lane on freeway. I immediately pulled over restarted the car and was able to move safely off freeway.

Pulling to a parking place, slowly, foot on brake, half way into the parking space when the vehicle suddenly accelerated resulting in the vehicle hitting a cement pole.no injuries.extensive damage to the left front.had to exit the passenger side car. *nlm

We have a 2003 cadillac's cts with about 77k miles. On 7-5-2010 as we were pulling into a parking spot in a shopping plaza at less than 5 mph, all of a sudden the car went to full throttle, jumped the curb, thru bushes, and onto the hood of the car facing us. Within a few weeks prior to this, while sitting at a red light with our foot on the brake, we notice what seemed to be the engine revving up. The car is in the shop now.

*sc

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph the reduced power warning message displayed on the led screen. The contact stated that the vehicle had no throttle response and began to decelerate independently. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and turn the engine off. Once restarted, the engine and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired by an independent mechanic. The contact indicated that the throttle body was replaced. The contact indicated that the defect had recently recurred but had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The vehicle vin was not available.the failure mileage was 70,000.

Dashboard went out intermittently. Consumer tookvehicle to dealer andrepairs were made. However, the problem kept coming back.on one occasion the consumer had to have the vehicle towed for uncontrolled acceleration.dashboard problems and vehicle has died 3 times.enclosed here with the customer claim form for details and the towed truck report and service documents from car dealer.

Dt: the consumer stated the gas pedalbecame stuck which caused theconsumer to hit a mail box.

The consumer stopped at a red light, when the light turned green he proceeded and began to skid on unseen ice and hit a utility pole.the vehicle was totaled. The consumer stated that none of the safety features worked, and they are as followed:air bags, abs brakes, traction control, and the additional winter driving mode from skid.scc

Had the wipers on, rain stopped windshield wipers would not shut off. Brought car to be diagnosed. Found wiper power cover defective. Auto service found that the part was on back order. I had to go without wipers for a week before part was in. Auto service said that part was not instock anywhere in tampa.has this been a problem for cts owners seeing the part is scarce? has there been or going to be a recall?

My 2003 cadillac cts caught on fire. Fireman said that it was the windshield wiper module that caught on fire. The car was parked for hours and fire started while we was sleeping. The whole engine is burnt up and the car is totaled. Now i have no car and no money to get another car.

Windshield gets fogged up, makes visibility difficult when driving.dt

When running a/c the defrosters leak cold air and condensation accmmulates on outside of windshield.dealer (hennesey cadillac, atlanta) states vehicle was designed this way.i do not feel a vehicle is designed so that you have to run windshield wipers when it is not raining.impairs visibility.

Consumer complained aboutdefroster not working properly. Manufacturer was contacted, and stated thatvehicle was designed that way.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts. While the vehicle was at a stop, the rear window exploded with a loud noise. The glass shattered into pieces without warning. The passengers in the rear seat informed the contact that they saw a spark. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was old. The contact stated that the dealer did not inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall and that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Sun roof malfunctiones, begins intermittently with either slow or non-response when turning dial to close; gradually worsens.sunroof has opened to "vent" position on its own without touching controls.module and housing replaced several times, problem continues to return.module is currently being replaced for fourth time.

We purchasedsts in aug 03 and noticed the first day a small hairline crack in the front windshield, upper right hand corner...mataga replaced the windshield and advised us that it was a stress crack and they had other units with this condition...i noticed one year later, there is a crack in the replaced windshield at the same location!!!

I was riding down the street and i heard a scrubbing noise cumming from like behind my wheel when i would turn i tried to slow down lately i thought i needed brake fluid but something made me just loose control and jump the media strip i could have killed someone luckily i didn't now my left front tire is bent in a little and i cant drive the car or make any left turns without the grunting sound that it makes which might cost me my job because of the lack of transportation i have!

Traction control always come on,air bags lights on,cuts off if idle to long

Driving down a highway w/ brand new sumitomo tires for rear purchased on 1/10/15, the rear right tire blew causing me to loose control sending me into the guardrail then spun out into the highway landing horizontal across all lanes of traffic with my trunk end in the hov lane. I was then struct by a box truck, spinning me back around and totaling the vehicle. The sidewalls to the tire we still attached to the rim and the tread face had detached.

The contact owns a 2003 cadillac cts.the contact stated that all four rims on his vehicle seemed to "de-laminate" from the base metal.he first noticed the issue approximately two years ago.the rims seem to affect the tires and their ability to hold air.he would have to refill the tires with air at least once a week.the dealer stated that because the rims were not factory manufactured, they could not assist.the contact stated that these were the rims that came with the vehicle.he was unaware that they did not come from the manufacturer because they displayed the cadillac emblem.he has not spoken with the rim or vehicle manufacturers.the current mileage was 54,755 and failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
