While driving in the freeway going at 65 mph. The light on the dash came on and it said, service airbags. When i got home and i turned off my car the light went off and i thought that it could of been a glitch in the car. Two days later the light came back on and has been on ever since. I have called the dealer trying to find answers but they say there is no recall for my car. But yet i see so many issues with he airbags on buick veranos.

Air bag light keeps coming on and the dash board is showing the word check air bags
I was never warned about my car not having oil.the oil indicator light never came on that i needed to get oil soon.my car was making a lot of noise when i was putting my foot on the gas.my car always locks up on me as if i don't have my keys when i pull up in front of the 7/11 store near my house.key not detected comes on.i was able to drive my car without having the key with me.none of the signals to inform me that i needed oil, brakes etc...
While pulling into my home driveway, when i applied brakes . And the car started to accelerate causing me to hit my other vehicle and then the car proceeded into the side of my house . I just 2 days prior had my car inspected at firestone, i also just had new brakes and rotors replaced less than 5 months prior, also the airbag light came on earlier that day, i was coming home from firestone and noticed the car was accelerating and deceleration while driving which was less than 10 mile from my home .
Hit black ice on 2 lane highway, rate of speed about 40 mph. Car impacted concrete barriers causing the front end to be demolished as well as both front tires to be turned upward. Front and side airbags did not deploy. This car is not on a recall list but perhaps there are more owners out there who have had the same issue with 2012 buick verano. I am far from an expert but i assume due to damage on the front endthe air bags should have deployed.
The passenger side air bag light goes off when engine is running. Does this while driving or parked. This makes air bag light in the information center of dash come on or turn off.
I hit a parked car. My front, right tire went flat and was twisted. I swerved to the right to avoid hitting another car. My car ended up in the middle of the street, but could not be driven because of the right front tire. By the time i got home, i realized that my air bag did not inflate at all. Although my left leg was terrible swollen, my biggest fear was the air bag.it was towed to bob jeanotte dealership in plymouth, mi where they said they would get an independent person to investigate the air bag - it is was part of the recall. Whether it was or not, it didn't open. I could have been killed. No one told me of a recall!
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the buick of arlington dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that because the vehicle's mileage exceeded the required mileage, the vehicle would not be repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where it was determined that the steering coil spring would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v300000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Airbag indicator continues to go on and off with no one sitting on the passenger front side. With a person seated on the passenger front side it indicates airbag off in motion especially and even while parked....feels like the tires are about to fall off when driving or turning especially on three front tires and even worse when going over bumbs speed bumbs or holes while driving
The system air bag notices keeps coming in the car, when you put your seat beat on it goes away. Also the oil button doesn't come on , the car constantly shakes and the check engine like keeps coming on after even being repaired. I needed a fuel pump and that's been fixed but the problem is happening again
Service airbag light comes on occasionally when passenger gets in car. Goes off once passenger buckles seatbelt and vehicle is in drive, most of the time. A couple times it has stayed on for part of a day even without a passenger and after several times of turning the car off and restarting.
I was not paying attention and hit a parked car with the front, right side of my buick verano.it messed up my front, right tire and side as well as the other car's left back tire and side. The police came and took a report. The car was towed to bob [xxx], my dealer, in plymouth, mi.my friend drove me back home.once i was home rethinking the incident, i realized that no air bag deployed at any time. I went to internet and discovered that buick verano 2012 air bags were recalled a year ago. I never received any information about this recall.i have since talked to the gm customer service who said they will make a thorough inspection of the car. This accident took place on july 17, 2014. I haveheard nothing about my car. It is still at bob jeanotte's, i think.my insurance, auto owner's, sent me a check for approx. $4,000 to cover the cost of repairs. But i am not turning it into [xxx]until i get my car back. I am very nervous about this incident. Thank god, i only hit a parked car. If i was hit from the front, i could be seriously injured or killed!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While driving approximately 40 mph, the driver side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on separate occasions and serviced under nhtsa campaign numbers: 12v522000 (air bags) and 13v023000 (air bags); however, the failure persisted after each recall repair. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. Updated 6/8/15updated 10/06/2017
Vehicle displays service airbag message intermittent while driving also does not show airbag is on for passenger
Says service aig bag this is not safe..
There was a recall with special policy on the passenger air bag. I want to know why i didn't receive a recall form in the mail. Gm told me that it expired september 2019. I am now having problems with a message on my car stating service air bag. I take to get diagnostic and was told it needed a new module and sensor light which will cost me $1600 that is not a fault of mine, but is a factory defect and i have a child that ride's in the vehicle with me daily.
I was driving home around 6: 55pm going west on 152 when a car coming n the opposite direction headlights blinded me n i went up on the divider in the middle of the road. I felt that i hit the divider so i came off trying to avoid hitting other vehicles n continued driving out of fear. My on star came on letting me know that they knew i had an accident and checking to see if i was alright. I told them i smelled smoke and a funny smell they informed me that smell was from my air bags deploying which they did not.i told them i didn't need help my car was still operableso they informed me to get my air bags checked and hung up. I called home because i was scared and realize my seatbelt had me pinned to my chair and couldn't move. My son had to get me out of my driver seat with force. If my car did catch on fire i would have been in trouble pinned in seat and air bags not deploying could have been worst.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While driving approximately 40 mph, all of the warning lights on the instrument panel remained illuminated and the brakes made an abnormal noise when the gear was shifted into reverse. The failure recurred several times. The contact also stated that the traction and low volt lights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 59,831.
Corrosion and faulty connection to positive cable i have had to replace battery 2 times in the past year. The battery bracket is corroding and the computer. Positive cable terminal
From the time i leased the car in august of 2012, the car always stalled from time to time. I took it in 2 months after i purchased it for the stalling, but they didn't find anything wrong with it. Once in march of 2014 i turned my car on and went to put the car in drive and it wouldn't shift. I tried multiples times, but it wouldn't shift. I turned the car off and back on and then the gear moved to drive. On july 12, 2014, the car actually turned off while i was driving it. I was leaving work and as i proceeded to exit my jobs parking lot, the car turned off and i noticed the malfunction light was on. I immediately called buick/onstar to report the problem. I drove the car home because i didn't want to be stranded at work because i work for a school and it was closed for the day. Anyway, the car was attempting to turn off the entire drive home which is about a 25 minute drive. The buick/onstar representative stayed on the phone with me to make sure i was safe and when i arrived home a tow truck arrived shortly after to tow my car to the buick dealer that i purchased the car from.i received the car back 2 weeks later and they informed me that the cables connected to the battery were loose and that they had fixed it. I drove the car for another 2 weeks and one day i went to drive it and it wouldn't start. So, i called buick again, they towed it again and it has now been back at the buick dealer for a little over 2 weeks now. I have one of their loaner cars in my possession now. I do not want this car back because i can't be sure that the car won't cut off on me while i'm driving on the expressway or anywhere which could result in an accident.they need to recall this model because i've read other comments where people have had the same issues. A car randomly cutting off while you're driving it is just not safe!

I was at a stop sign and when it was my turn to go i started to drive and realized my car was not accelerating, i had the gas peddle all the way to the floor as a tractor trailer was fastly approaching my rear bumper, luckly i was able to coast to median. Took to dealer and they said there was a switch that needed to be replaced. My entire dashboard lights and radio went out, which dealership had to replace twice. My car shut off while pulling into a parking spot, it was raining and defrost was not working, took to dealership which they stated it was my battery, paid $200 for a new battery. My car jerks and stalls when i am going from a complete stop and begin to pick up speed. I was backing out a parking spot today and my car shut off and the check engine light came on, i restarted my car which the check engine light remains on and the stalling and jerking continues. These issues can cause a major accident and if severe enought can be life threatening. If i am required to hold up my end of the bargain by paying my car note the manufacturers need to be held accountable for their end of the bargain which is providing their buyers with a secure and reliable vehicles for families.
The vehicle is unreliable, unpredictable and dangerous to drive, since you do not have any warning or know when and where the engine will die. The engine died while driving 60 mph on a two lane highway, leaving only a few seconds to steer onto the shoulder. The car would not restart. This was following an earlier electrical system problem four weeks before in which multiple warning lights stayed on after starting the engine and the transmission would not go into gear (we were told this was caused by the battery being installed over a portion of the wiring harness and eventually cutting the wires). This was repaired by replacing several computer modules and portions of the wring harness. The earlier repair, was double checked by another buick dealership and we were assured that the vehicle was fully repaired and safe to drive. The 60 mph failure was attributed to a chafed wire shorting out and blowing a fuse. The day following the latest repair the engine died again, while driving 45 mph. The car would not restart. Before beginning the next repair, the electrical system drained the battery overnight. We were told two days ago, that a new main computer and four coils were replaced. We have been told since then, that the car was ready to be picked up in the morning and then called the next day and was told more test were required. It is now 7 days later, and gm engineers and the dealer are still trying to diagnose the root cause and find a solution. We have been told repeatedly that this is the first auto of its kind, with this problem for a buick verano. Day 28/18, dealer called this morning and told us they have now found a ground fault in the wiring harness. The service manager told us he would want his wife to drive this car. We don't drive it either...updated 12/17/13
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. On several occasions, while driving at slow speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure recurred six times. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after each failure. The vehicle was taken to reed buick gmc (9550 nw prairie view rd, kansas city, mo 64153,(816) 436-6300) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. *ln
Every since i first got car it has had problems.all the wires under the melted together and caused corrosion. Since then radio blinked on and off til now it's just a black screen. Had problems with cam shaft control. Have purchased 4 batteries in 6 years. There's something electrical that blows the batteries. If i start my car with automatic start from fob it causes battery problems. Check engine light is on now and i had it checked the code is for transmission control module. The car will be fine for a week or so but then while driving it changes gears and slows down as if it wants to stop.. It's very dangerous. Sometimes while putting the car in drive it will not accelerate even though i put my foot to the ground. Finally it will pick up speed. I'm not sure what's wrong with this car but i believe it's electrical and it's the same thing that caused the radios to go out. Sometimes the stability traction light will illuminate then it goes away for amonths. I'm afraid to drive my car. I've been on the highway doing 60 and it will switch gears and says speed is too fast for engine.. Please help!!!
Brought car from carmax they sold me a car with a messed up motherboard whenever onstar comes through the car it put the car in cruise control about 50 or less mph. It stays on 24/7 and now its draining my battery and now the car completely cuts off while im driving or it wont even start.
Our buick verano 2012 did not pass inspection last year.when the battery was changed, the date and time went back to that when the car was made.the date and time were adjusted to true date and time.during inspection, the malfunction indicator lamp was on all the time while stationary & in motion.we were told to drive it a long distance to clear itself.it cleared & it passed inspection after driving it for hundreds of miles.then the not even one year old battery started draining itself without reason because the lights are on automatic.we jumped it when not home and charged it when home.this year it would not pass inspection saying fuel system not ready, evaporative system not ready.the malfunction indicator lamp came on again and disappeared after driving it hundreds of miles.there is only one error message now about fuel system.mileage now is 29,449.we have used a lot of gas driving it just for the test as it started with 29,065.it does not make sense that we have to drive it just to clear it while we pollute the environment.something must be wrong somewhere either the testing machine as it was down the first time we went for inspection or the computer system of the car. The inspection failure happened 02/2017 the first time & 02/2018 & 04/2018 the last times.the draining of the battery happened before the last year's inspection.every now and then it gets drained again!we have to pay for another inspection because we exceeded the time limit allowed for the first fee.
10/26/15 - car wouldn't start; recv'd jump, replaced battery ($169.40).11/6/15 - came out of restaurant, car wouldn't start.got jump took to dealer.dealer replaced starter and issue resolved.11/12-11/21: car stalled 8-10more documented times both when backing out of parking spot in reverse and at vehicle speeds varying from 35mph to 67mph on 5 lane interstate during rush hour.took to dealer and called gm.replaced two solenoids and some hose, keeping car so tech can drive for 2 days to see if problem can be replicated.i can't determine a cause or pattern and don't get any prior warning, so hoping it does occur in their possession during testing.this vehicle is unreliable and very dangerous.i almost caused a multiple vehicle accident on the interstate and risk injury or death by operating this vehicle.my family is at risk, myself and other motorists.gm says there is no problem but after seeing the numerous complaints on nhtsa.gov as well as several other online forums, it is clear that gm is trying to avoid another issue with their vehicles.i have owned gm products since turning 16 and this is completely unacceptable.i have been provided with a dealership loaner and will refuse to take my verano back as i do not feel safe driving or owning this vehicle.currently have open complaint with gm but do not have resolution at the time of this complaint.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact was driving approximately 35-45 mph and reached for the radio but haphazardly hit the keys in the ignition causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was restarted and taken to the dealer. The dealer was unable to generate a failure code after performing a diagnostic. The failure recurred and was taken back to the dealer, who test drove the vehicle for six miles but was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer advised the contact to limit the load on the key ring to avoid the failure. The failure mileage was 200 and the current mileage is 15,000.updated 04/28/14updated 05/05/2014*ljupdated 05/09/2014
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the window on the passenger side failed intermittently and the front passenger side door failed to open. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. Updated 08/29/17*lj
This buick verano has cascading electrical system problems.while driving at highway speed the engine stopped and would not restart.this left my wife with only a few seconds to steer the car to the shoulder.it was a dangerous situation just past the crest of a bridge.the car was towed to the dealer and we were informed that a frayed wire had shorted out and blew a fuse.two days later the car was "repaired" and died in a similar fashion.after a week's consultation with gm we were informed the car was "fixed".the service manager stated he would not want his wife to drive this car.so we won't either.this followed a repair a month before which was caused by the battery being installed over a portion of the wiring harness.these problems started at 11 months and 11,237 miles.still unresolved.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently shut-off without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who linked the failure to an unknown electrical defect. The contact then called david chevrolet buick (10225 niagara falls blvd, niagara falls, ny 14304) where she was provided an estimate to have the vehicle diagnosed. The contact declined to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.*dt

The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact waited approximately one minute before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle restarted and operated normally. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred five other times. The contact drove the vehicle to twins buick/gmc in columbus, ohio where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and the pistons needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 76,952.
Excessive oil consumption causing piston ring and pistons to be replaced. Oil light never warned of low oil. Excessive carbon buildup led to early maintainence fee of $450.00. Car has only 55000 miles.
Car jerks when sitting at stop signs, red light, in congested stop and go traffic. It also hesitates when you initially press the gas and are going under 20 miles per hour. The check engine light doesn't come on and when you take it to the dealership they rundiagnostic and can not detect the issue
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
While driving at 65 mph in the right lane of a 4-lane divided highway, my engine quit, and all gauges went dark.i had steering, brakes, turn signal and hazard lights, and telephone. I was losing speed, and was unable to accelerate.however, i was able to coast to the shoulder of the highway.i was not able to restart the car.i put on the hazard lights and used my cell phone to call the dealer.after 10 - 15 minutes of waiting, i was able to restart the car.a representative from the dealer had just arrived and followed me to the dealership.they kept the car overnight.they could not duplicate the episode, so they reset the computer. I am suspicious that the computer activated the engine immobilizer feature. The engine stall was preceded by several instances of the intellilink screen going dark, as though the light bulb had burned out.

Excessive oil consumption. Known problem with the 2.4l ecotec engine. Well over a liter every 2000 miles. This has been occuring since i first purchased the car, used, in may 2014.
Ses light periodically keeps coming on beginning at 49,000 miles in 2015. It is always regarding problem camshaft position actuator solenoid/sensor code: p0014. It came on again last year at around 82,000 miles and then came on again 10 days later. Last year dealership mechanic at least knew something about engines and some parts to change instead of just letting a computer tell him what parts so changed timing kit and water pump kit for loose chains. Human fix was not the end of the problem either as same problem happened this year nov-13-2018 at 92,000. Usually when it happens vehicle runs rough when idling or stalls out on accel, blocking the roadway until you can get the vehicle in motion again. This year did not stall out but made funny tapping noise on accel/decel and almost all of the oil was gone, yet the "low oil light" never came on. Ses does not come on until it's almost too late. Seems like the problems are felt or noises heard the slower the vehicle is moving. With as often as this problem occurs, i now believe some other part must be make the camshaft solenoid go bad when the replacement parts are also going bad. Maybe the entire engine needs to be recalled if gm cannot determine the problem.
As i was driving in the city the car suddenly stopped and there was a smell of burning oil. I noticed dark oil on the pavement. I was good about changing my oil per manufacturer recommendation. I wasn't aware that other similar cars had this same issue. I wish a recall had been done prior to this major loss.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While driving, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft solenoid failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to kendall auto group (1400 executive pkwy # 400, eugene, or 97401, (541) 335-4000) and the contact was informed that there was no history of a failure code; however, the piston and rings. Were repaired. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where the contact left the engine running and showed the technician the failure. The technician found the code and informed the contact that the camshaft solenoid needed to be replaced and an oil consumption test was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle had an oil consumption test performed on three different occasions. The contact was informed that the vehicle was down to three quarters of a quart of oil. The contact stated that the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: sr 9-5484491631. The approximate failure mileage was 81,207.
Extreme oil consumption without warning. Oil level was still at 60% and oil change was not yet indicated by the mileage. I noticed the engine was running roughly and took the car to my mechanic. The dipstick was dry.

The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving various speeds. The contact was able to push the start engine button and regain normal function. Also, the engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to patrick buick gmc & used car supercenter (4700 w henrietta road, henrietta, ny 14467, (585) 359-2200). The dealer performed a diagnostic test and replaced an unknown part in the engine. The repair did not correct the failure and the vehicle shook and stalled while the contact attempted to reverse out of a parking area. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled intermittently several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. However, the technician was not able to replicate or diagnose the failure. The vehicle was to be taken back to an authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.
Replaced many components and still has cylinder misfire . Replaced coils . Spark plugs. Vvt solenoids . Pigtails for vvt and still jerks, stalls, and radio doesn't work.
Excessive oil consumption due to defective pistons/rings. My oil burns off resulting in dirty sensors, overly dirty exhaust, a poor running engine and constantly having to add oil. The oil itself becomes thick and black very quickly after an oil change. This has resulted in thousands of dollars of needless repairs and oil changes because the root problem was not widely known or addressed. The only repair is piston and ring replacement or engine replacement.
Purchased the car used with 65k miles and everything seemed good.at around 72k the car had a loud pinging noise.i checked the oil and the dip stick was dry.i changed the oil and filter to be safe.the car has been using a quart of oil every 2000 miles.at 80k the check engine light came on.in pa that means you do not pass inspection so we had to have the engine serviced. The bill was only $212 dollars for two valve position solenoids.i did a complete oil and filter change then also.at 1712 miles later the engine light came on again, the engine oil was 1,5 quarts low again.i guess i am in the same boat as most of the others with high oil consumption, shafted by gm again.i do not understand how a company can sell something so badf and get away with it.it seems all of the gm vehicles with the 22.4 liter 4 cylinder engine have these issues.the shame is the car itself so far has been pretty good except for the oil issue.when will gm start to stand behind their product?
Today i was driving my 2012 buick verano and without any advanced notice (ie.. Lights illuminated on dashboard) my vehicle lost power and just started to creep to a full stop. The dashboard was black nothing to tell me what the problem was. Thank god they have created a large pull off on the highway or i would have been really hurt. I tried several time to restart my vehicle the restarting process was not the problem it was putting the car in gear every time i tried to put the vehicle in gear it would shut off and the engine light is now on.
Takata recall engine rods banged to made a hole in engine. The engine is made from aluminum and was going to happen any way. Muffling sounded like hole in muffler but was the engine
The system air bag notices keeps coming in the car, when you put your seat beat on it goes away. Also the oil button doesn't come on , the car constantly shakes and the check engine like keeps coming on after even being repaired. I needed a fuel pump and that's been fixed but the problem is happening again
Excessive oil consumption. Low oil light did not come on causing car to produce "engine power reduced" warning on dashboard. Less than half a quart of oil in engine caused timing belt to break along with head gasket to collapse. Issue with car happened at work sitting in stationary parking spot
My 2012 buick verano has stalled out and died several times while driving on highway and when accelerating from stops. My verano has 64,000 miles and is well kept and maintenanced but continues to stall over and over. I have seen several complaints from other 2012 verano owners who have experienced the same problem and have come to the conclusion that gm has sold us a faulty product that can cause death or a serious injury. Being that i am a individual who lives paycheck to paycheck i cant afford to throw money into a 7 yr old car with less than 70,000 miles that im still making payments on and i hope that gm will be held accountable for selling a faulty, dangerous vehicle that is not safe to be on the road! please investigate before someone is killed!
Car using excessive oil, but not leaking. Non oil light ever has come on. Car also showed p0011 which ties in with issue.
I have a 2012 buick verano with about 115000 miles on it. I have been to several gm dealers with complaints of excessive oil consumption to the point of there being no oil in the car whatsoever and they claimed there was no issue. I went to a third service center and they did over 700 dollars worth of work that needed to be done because of damage to the engine from low oil. General motors customer service denies that there is an issue even though there are recalls for other vehicles with the same exact engine (2.4 liter 4 cylinder). I do not feel safe with this vehicle knowing there's a possibility of engine failure while i am on the highway. I have service records to prove i've had this work done and i've been to several dealerships. There are also numerous complaints about the same issue i am describing online. I do not understand why this issue hasn't been recalled because it is something that is happening to numerous vehicles and in addition there is a recall out for vehicles made by general motors with the same exact engine as mine.
Excessive engine oil consumption. Need to add more than 3-4 quarts every 2k miles. Note that low level oil light never turns on. At a recent oil change in late july '19 there was ~1 quart of oil in the reservoir when oil was drained. Oil changes have been performed at specified intervals since purchased in july of '15 (~39,900 miles when purchased). Started noticing excessive oil consumption in '17.
Excessive oil consumptioncausing piston rings and pistons to go bador warning light never appear on dish so that's not working either.i have to get all change every week to every two weeks.
I own a 2012 buick verano with only 48k on it, ownership transferred over from my father in law who bought this vehicle brand new. Car hesitates, does not pick up speed after slowing/stopping which we noticed at 36k, burns through a lot of oil- oil light does not go on when low, rear brakes and rotors were already compromised at less than 45k, and just recently lost brakes completely while driving a month ago due to a bad caliper. Car also accelerates sometimes when applying the brake. The brake light has never come on at any point during any of this, though the low windshield washer fluid light comes on even though it is not low. Also downshifts pretty rough.
Vehicle stalled at red light on city street. Vehicle ended up needed 4 quarts of oil which caused a broken timing chain and complete engine replacement. Engine was the 2.4l ecotec, which has bulletins for oil consumption issues. The low oil light did not come on in the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 7,000 and the current mileage was 7,700.
Excessive oil consumption between oil changes
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. While inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that the engine oil was very low. The contact indicated that the oil was last changed in october of 2017. There was no warning message displayed indicating that the oil was low. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer (axelrod buick in parma, ohio) and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,256.
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 34,594. Updated 9/12/14 updated 1/26/15
Extreme oil consumption
Husband was driving car home on a 6 hour road trip.the check engine light came on.everytime he would slow down to a stop or near stop the car would shut off.engine sounds like it is missing.i had onstar run their diagnostic and they said issue with timing system, error code p0010.what if he would have been killed on highway because of this.reading other complaints it looks like we are not the only ones who had this issue.
I just bought my buick verano four months ago.i bought it with barely over 50,000 miles on it.the problem began with idling issues.my car would run rough, sputter, & die occasionally.then, it began hesitating when i first accelerated.this hesitation has become consistently more frequent.about 10 days ago i was pulling across an intersection when my car hesitated for several seconds, and i was almost hit.this is when we decided to take it for inspection immediately.we took it to the closest buick place, and they found an oil consumption issue caused by faulty pistons and rings.after doing some research i found that there have been technical service bulletins issued, but no related recalls.if my car had hesitated any longer at that intersection, i likely would have been t-boned.what's worse is that after researching i have found that this is a common problem with 2012 veranos.at this time, my car is still in the shop while my spouse and i work on coming up with an unexpected two grand to fix what is a known issue to gm.
Car engine started making noise in front right side.had oil changed 2000 miles prior and there was no oil when checked.mechanic said the motors are known to have the timing belt go out and the pistons.there are recalls for this issue, however my vin number doesn't come up!! have had the car 2 months!!!! pretty pissed off!
2012 buick verano.immediately upon purchase i noticed the fresh air intake always had hot air blowing through vents. Dealer and gm customer service said nothing is wrong. Other verano owners would stop me in parking lots and ask me if i had the same issue as they had. It was a defect. After 40,000 miles the timing chain needed replaced; camshaft position solenoid valve replaced; new gasket kit; output shaft seal leaking.at 60,000 miles, the car lost all power while driving 55 miles an hour on highway (other owners- buick forums - had the same dangerous experience). By lost power, i mean the car suddenly had no power steering, brakes. Gas pedal was not operational. The engine shut off. Piston ring failure was the diagnosis from buick service. Almost 4000 to fix they stated.none of these issues should have happened with a car with only 60,000 miles.the verano is no longer being manufactured. Gm should admit that they sold a defective product that did not perform as advertised.after addition investigation, i've discovered that gm was well aware of this problem since 2014.gm never notified verano owners of this issue.what's more; the buick dealership told me there was never a service bulletin issued by gm for this problem.service bulletin 13-06-01-003h in fact was issued.for all verano owners, please take note. You may still have recourse.please view links:excessive oil consumption - 2010-2013 buick chevrolet gmcgm is fixing some smoky engines under warranty
I bought a 2012, certified used, buick verano in december 2016. In the manual, it says to change the oil until when one of these 4 things happen: i've gone 6500 miles, it has been 6 months, the light says 25% oil life remaining, or when the "change oil now" light comes on. I checked the oil whenever i got gas. I was checking oil levels about twice a month. Right around 3 months after i got the car, it said that i had 70% oil life, but the dipstick was registering pretty low, so i got the oil changed. My mileage at the time was just under 42,000. Two months later, on may 18, 2017, i took my car in. The mechanic did a full inspection, and he told me that my car was completely out of oil. I had only gone 2500 miles since my last oil change. They did an oil change and told me to watch for leaks. September 4, i stopped to get gas on my way home from a labor day trip. I checked my oil, and the dipstick registered nothing. None of the warning signs were present. I had gone 4,323 miles since my last oil change, and the oil life monitor still said around 60%. At this point, my overall mileage was 48,804. Two months later, november 2, i was going on a short trip. I went to get gas and check my oil; once again the dipstick was completely empty. I went to the same mechanic that had originally done the full inspection on may 18. He looked into it further and told me about service bulletin #13-06-01-003h: excessive oil consumption. I started an oil consumption test. At this point my mileage was 52,462. Here is the timeline for my test:november 4: 52,462 - complete oil changenovember 28: 52,976, 514 miles, added 2 quarts of oildecember 15: 53,957, 981 miles, added 1 quart of oiljanuary 22: 54,952, 995 miles, added 2 quarts of oilhow buick won't pay to fix a problem they know exists that could cause more problems down the road...
The engine of this new 2012 buick verano stalled four times. The first time was in freeway. The second time was in front of a red light. The third time was in a local street at ~35 miles/hour. The fourth time happened when the dealer service department was driving it. Similar problem every time: the engine suddenly stalled and became very rough. The car cannot go faster than 10 miles/hour for a minute or two and the engine would completely die. There's always a misfire code. The vehicle appeared ok after 5-10 minutes later but the "check engine" may stay on. The dealer service department suspected the fuel was bad. What's ironic is that the engine stalled again when they were driving it after they drained the fuel and put in new gasoline. This is a brand new car from buick with ~600 miles on it. Something is seriously wrong with this vehicle and the sudden stalling of the engine carries too high risk of rear-end collision.

Brought car from carmax they sold me a car with a messed up motherboard whenever onstar comes through the car it put the car in cruise control about 50 or less mph. It stays on 24/7 and now its draining my battery and now the car completely cuts off while im driving or it wont even start.

A constant "percolating" or rattling sound is heard while driving slowly and especially on uneven surfaces. The noise gets worse and more consistent as the car is driven. Since nobody can tell me what it is, i must assume it could be a safety concern. The noise became worse after a strut was replaced at 100 miles. The noise got louder after an attempt to fix it by installing a new coil (f-spring?).i was told that this is a characteristic of the car so they will not make attempts to repair it when i request specific actions. I have heard similar noises in at least 7 other same model cars. Three separate people have driven the car and confirm the noises. If there is a structural weakness it would be a safety concern.
Car jerks when sitting at stop signs, red light, in congested stop and go traffic. It also hesitates when you initially press the gas and are going under 20 miles per hour. The check engine light doesn't come on and when you take it to the dealership they rundiagnostic and can not detect the issue

It has always down shifted hard at about 28 to 30 mph, we asked the dealer and he said it was normal, i have never had a car do this, and what i am afraid of, is it will go bad after the warranty goes out and i am stuck, i have read other reviews on this and other people have had the same problem?? please help me find out about this, it only has about 6500 miles on it now, and we bought it dec 28 2012, it was driven by the finance manager at fuson buick in terre haute indiana, and they sold it to us as a new car with 4 years warranty, thanks and hope that you can help us.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. After the vehicle was serviced, the brakes made an abnormal noise. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. In addition, while driving at an unknown speed, the windshield wipers failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the window on the passenger side failed intermittently and the front passenger side door failed to open. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start, there was a loss of power steering, and the vehicle stalled. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however a diagnosis was not provided. The vehicle was repaired however the window still was not fully operational. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. Updated 08/29/17*lj
Driving at highway speeds, the steering would bind slightly in one spot and require extra force to correct normal highway drift.this caused over correction. Dealer could find no problem. Called buick customer service and steering rack was changed right away. Second steering rack was changed for same problem at 19000 mi.
While driving on the interstate, without any type of warning indicator , my steering wheel fell off. I manage to reattach it and maneuver out of traffic to safety. Once i made it to safety the steering wheel again fail completely off. My car had a recall on it, that was repaired a few weeks ago dealing with the airbag. I'm not sure if this is amanufactor problem or negligence on the dealership on reattaching the steering column.
On 10/11/2017 i was driving my car attempting to make a right turn and my car steering wheel locked on me and my power steering light came on i took it in on 10/12/17 to my local buick dealer service but light came on again 10/13/17 i took it back on 10/14/17 they said my computer program was not reprogramed but my light came on again 10/23/17 i am so scared to drive my car
The vehicle had a free oil change and tire rotation from the dealer we purchased the vehicle from. The oil change was early but the recommended tire rotation was over due. A short time after this a noise was heard. The noise was on the driver's side of the vehicle. I describe the sound as something flapping due to the air flow over/under the vehicle. The noise was heard only at a speed of 65/70 or higher miles per hour.as soon as we could take the vehicle to our local deal we did.the service manager drove the vehicle with my wife and he also heard the noise. They found the windshield trim on the driver's side loose and fixed it. My wife drove the vehicle home and the sound returned. We returned the vehicle the next day for the same problem. I believe this has the service dept. Stumped. No word on the outcome yet.this is not a complaint as it is a statement of a problem we are having.
The paint on the hood roof and partial trunk of my black vehicle is oxidizing very badly. Is this the correct forum to report this issue?
Excessive oil consumptioncausing piston rings and pistons to go bador warning light never appear on dish so that's not working either.i have to get all change every week to every two weeks.

Traveling north on rt 1/granite street in westerly ri at 4:25pm saturday march 28th.the driving lane between cumberland farms and mcdonald's, giant pot hole popped my tire. Pulled into the napa parking lot for tire change. Called westerly police and they recommended i contact dot for tire service.
When im driveing and the passageris sitting next to me the airbag light says its off please have it service . Then it turn on for a couple of sec and it shuts off .also my fog light nob is like melting around it very weird. Mybe the light it has around the nob is to strong dont knowall driving is in the city

Material is melting on the vehicle during hot temps while vehicle is parked not running around all knobs causing burns when adjusting volume on radio, adjusting headlight knobs leaving a melted brown substance on hands also when switching gear shift causing release buttonon gear shift to fall off and sink all the way in.
I was pulling into a parking spot and started hitting the brakes the car accelerated by itself and hit a pole. No my foot was no where near accelerator. This is the second time i have had this happen thank good the first time i didn't hit anything. I have done research online and i am not the only one this has happen to.i bought this car with 44,000 mile on it an it has been in the shop more then out. This defect almost killed me and my family, because i almost hit a wall
I was driving an had to stop or slow down when i go to accelerate again my car cuts off. I sit there and turn key to turn back on it does but if i don't push down on gas to accelerate quickly it will stall again for the last five days it has done this several times. I called on star to hear what the problem could be but they informed methat i could still drive my car but see a dealer soon. I live quite a distance from my job so i need a car to go to work. I have missed some days because cutting off on 95 south is not fun and can't be speeding on expressway either on i will get a ticket. Please let someone from gm check for this problem in other cars. I am at dealer now praying this issue can be resolved. Thanks

Drivers side windshield does not clear during periods of heavy rain. When the windshield wiper goes to the left, it is okay, but when it returns to the right it drags the water back across in front of the drivers view causing a temporally blocking of view. Using the wipers at high speed makes it almost impossible to see out the windshield. This is a very dangerous situation. We have been dealing with this since we first purchased our new vehicle. Gm installed a product called clearvue and changed the wiper blades. This has not helped. We have been advised by berglund chevy. That gm does not feel this is worth their time because there are not enough vehicles with similar problems. Talked with gm today and they gave me their old case number 71-1508013118 and a new case # 71-1508013118
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to clear the windshield properly, causing severe obstruction of the contact's view of the roadway. The dealer replaced the wiper blades several times however, the failure was not corrected. The dealer advised that the windshield was performing according to the design of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 590 and the current mileage was 6,000. ..updated 01/30/13updated 2/1/2013
The contact owns a 2012 buick verano. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph in rainy weather, the windshield wipers were activated but would not clear the water from the window. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the wipers were performing as designed. The wiper blades were replaced. After the car had been parked in garage overnight, i entered the vehicle on the driver's side, closed the door, and the rear window exploded.
