When trying to turn off the car, the key get stuck and unable to be pulled out of the ignition.sometimes moving the steering wheel left and right it allows the key to be released, or after several tries of turning the car back on and then off the key would come out.took the car to the dealership for regular service, i had told them of the problem, and they had said it was fixed.it didn't seem like anything was done to it.the key still got stuck up until now, where now i can't get the car to start. Did some research online, found many with similar problem, don't know if i should call locksmith to have whole cylinder replaced.

While drivingdash lights and radio lights turned off and on.consumer wasunsure if the headlights and the tail lights were turning off and on. Consumer has contacted the dealer. *ml

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. While driving at 65 mph, black smoke began unexpectedly billowing from underneath the vehicle and from the instrument panel. The vehicle had caught on fire and the contact was able to move the vehicle from the roadway and exit. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The contact suffered burns to her arms and hands. A fire report was available. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where it was discovered that the electrical wiring of the gear console failed and caused the fire. The manufacturer was not contacted in regards to the failure. The vehicle was left at the facility where the contact was awaiting repairs. The failure and current mileages were 87,000.

There were loud noises coming from the engine. The plastic connecting tube which carried the antifreeze broke and allowed coolant to flow into engine, and destroyed the engine. Also, the dealer replaced the head gaskets, valve seals, flywheel, intake plenum, spark plugs and starter.

Car hesitates and sometimes dies when either blinker is selected. Seems to be an intermittent problem getting worse.

Engine explosion and firevehicle was in my driveway engine off. When i attempted to start the vehiclethere was a loud explosion followed by engine fire. Flames were 20 ft high. Fire dept was called but i was able to extinguish the fire with fire extinguisher and water from my garden hose. When the fire dept arrived the fire was already out.my evaluation is the following: the force of the explosion was so great that it split open/cracked the upper intake manifold (upper planum). It also lifted the fuel rail from the engine and some injectors came loose, fuel then spilled on the engine and fire immediately ensued. The plastic fuel lines also popped off the fuel injectors rail, this spilled even more fuel and fed the fire even more.i cannot believe buick/gm use plastic intake manifolds (upper planum) and plastic fuel line into the engine compartment. I believe if the manifold and fuel lines had been made of metal, the explosion or backfire would have been contained and minimal damage with no fire would have occurred. The fire consumed the plastic fuel line which then spilled even more fuel onto the on going fire. I researched on the internet and found numerous complaints from other people who experienced the same incident involving buick and gm vehicles. I believe this is a common problem and defects that needs to be investigated. If this incident had happened in my garage my entire house would have caught fire and there could have been serious injury or fatalities within my family or myself.i believe this is an engineering defect that needs be corrected.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal.while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled twice without warning in june 2008.the dealer replaced the starter and ignition switch, but the failure still persists.the failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 77,000.updated 07/14/09the consumer stated the vehicle continues to stop suddenly. Updated 07/16/09.

Vehicle engine shuts off intermittently with use of turn signals. Headlight and dash lights also go off.this has happened numerous times in the past 3 weeks.one time this happened on an interstate.this condition presents a severe safety hazard to the driver and all passengers.vehicle is at dealer for diagnosis.

Key will not dis-engage from ignition, especially with hotter weather. Without warning engine will shut off when driving, no matter what speed or weather conditions you're driving.

My instrument panel has been replaced twice(under extended warranty and once out of pocket to the tune of $1800). All the gauges, mileage, gas, water and oil gauge, battery, gear shift and others are not illuminated. This poses a safety hazard because the driver is unaware of the warnings and settings. When gas gauge is inoperable, a shutdown on the expressway or roadway is dangerous and possibly deadly. Car can overheat if gauge is not registering proper level. Window motors frequently are inoperable causing water intrusion and window fog which is dangerous while driving

Vehicle shuts down suddenly while in traffic. Traction lights appear.

Dashboard cluster stopped displaying any info.no speedometer, gas gauge, oil, tep or odometer.display returned when private mechanic began disassemble.stopped.display failed again in one week.gm dealer said cluster was bad and replaced it.later said they rebuilt it?failed again in two days.at dealer.i have my doubts that the cluster was bad at all although there are hundreds of online sites offering to sell and/or install new gm clusters.

Was driveing down the highway going 65 and went to turn on my turn signal and my engine stoped. I nearly crashed the car. I tried to restart the car and everytime i used the blinkers the car would either turn off restarts the computer like i just started the car. The abs light and check engine light comes on now and the driver side headlight wont come on. I had a friend drive 3 hours to come and tow my car. I almost got hit by a semi truck because of this. Weird engine noise , when switching the ignition switch sometimes delay, also dash lights and headlights also ac doesn't work and low oil , low air , and low coolant lights turn on even if all of them are full at the right level .

I called a gm motors dealer and they tell me that their is no recalls on my car, but when i looked on this site, their is 8 codes with the one recall i just got done not long ago!! i want my car fixed!

Hvac (climate control) display went completely blank. Dealer says only option is to remove and replace for a price of$550. This occurred when vehicle was3 yrs old.

While driving at night time, dash panel lightsgo out completely or are faint.this is very dangerous.

Consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Vehicle continued to accelerate. Abs braking light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer was able to drive it todealer for inspection, and mechanicdetermined that wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle's ttaction control light was illuminating intermittently.

Engine dies when left or right turn signal is applied.car died as i was taking off ramp on highway causing loss of power steering and braking.this needs to be addressed as this can cause an accident.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. The contact stated that engine oil leaked onto the manifold causing smoke and strong burning odors in the vehicle as the instrument panel illuminated. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 09v116000 (engine and engine cooling) but the failure recurred. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The horn is very hard to push, and won't sound when pressing the horn buttons.

Due to the air bag assembly locatedin the steering wheel, driver has to push the horn only where the picture is off the horn, in an emergency this can be a problem because consumer has to look to see exactly where it is.

Difficultly honking horn in emergency, dealer say it was the fault of the thick air bag and nothing could be done about it.et.

Design of the horn is difficult to locate while driving and is hard to blow quickly.yh

Car just randomly quits. I pull over and it restarts .also it is at different times.doesn't let the key out of the ignition.

(12-06-05) 1999 buick regal check engine and anti lock light came on. Consumer had to replace brake module.***no answer required***the heating and air condition display would light up and then become dark. The mechanic replaced the control head. The consumer experience starting problems which resulted in a new ignition switch being installed.

Ignition key switch goes out when the turn signal is turned on.also, engine fails.the design of the key switch is faulty.

Ignition switch failure during vehicle operation, on the road.multiple times.*la

When using the turn signals, the vehicle stalled. The owner took the vehicle to the dealer who told the owner that it was the ignition switch that was causing the defect. Provide further details.

I mention this because of a possible safety hazard where it seems a fire could start quite easily. After giving a locksmith a few hundred dollars to change a 1999 regal ignition cylinder, the following malfunction continues. About 80% of the time i cannot turn the ignition to the off position. The key cannot be pulled out until i am able to get the ignition into the off position. It seems that there is not enough or to much voltage going to the ignition security system causing the ignition to lock up. Recently i have discovered that there is a security switch right behind the key cylinder that is malfunctioning.it consists of a small steel plunger type button that is suppose to depress when the vehicle is placed in park.i found out that it is very expensive for the dealer to replace.therefore i drilled a hole about the size of a silver dollar under the steering wheel collar.when i turn the car off, i need to place my finger in the hole and press this button which allows me to turn the key into the off position.i noticed that this switch becomes extremely hot.i would think the dealer would correct this without cost since it seems obvious to be a manufactured bad design and a safety hazard. I have received quite of few replies from buick customers expressing the same problem since posting this issue on the web.

While placing the key inside the ignition switch vehicle failed to turn off. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer, andmechanic sprayed lubrication gel on the ignition switch an ditlocked up.mechanic was able to unlock the ignition switch.consumer informed the mechanic that this problemoccurred more than once, and had not been resolved.

1999 buick regal abs light and check engine light come on when you press on brake and intermittently all dash warning lights will come on.the brake module, connector, heat/air control display would become bright and then go dark. The dealer replaced the control head. The ignition switch was replaced.

The motor dies whenever the turn signals are used. The vehicle use to start right up after this happens. But now instead of starting right back up, it takes it a few minutes. It has also affected the airbag light signal on the dash. It is often on after the motor has started. Also, in the resting position, the turn signal arm, the turn signals make a fast flashing like noise, and for some reason, all the lights to the rear of the vehicle flash on and off constantly. To make it stop, i have to raise or lower the turn signal arm about a hair out of it's resting position. I have since then tied rubberbands around the turn signal arm, from the arm to the side of the steering wheel column to the steering wheel tilt lever. I feel that the root of both problem is an electrical issue inside the steering wheel. Nothing has yet been done to correct the problem, because it is a vehicle with an air-bag in the steering wheel. And that procedure is very expensive.

I was driving on the freeway when i put my right blinker on to change lanes and my vehicle just completely shut off on me. I pulled to the side of the road my car started back up and continues to do so but every time i hit my blinker right or left my vehicle shuts off.

The engine caught on fire no more than 3minutes after i parked the car. The valve cover recall was repaired in 2016. Car was running fine. I just happened to go back out to the car to get my cell phone when i saw smoke. I open the hood and saw flames. I used a fire extinguisher to out he flame out. While driving at approx 40 mph or more the engine suddenly cuts out and the steering locks up and the car violently stops, which could cause a fatal accident. This is very much like the ignition switch problem in the other recalls. After a few tries the car does start again but this is not acceptable. Also there has been smoke pouring from the engine on more than one occasion when the vehicle was not even operating for more than ten minutes, and often the smell of gas permeates the inside of the vehicle.

I talked to two different ladies at red lion chevy about a recall on my car. I asked for a rental to be provided and both ladies said they would give me a rental at no cost since i would be dropping the car off, they didnt know if they would get to it right away and that it could take up to 3 hrs. Reason i talked to 2 ladies, first appointment got cancel, 2nd i forgot about and 3rd was today which i went in. Kevin checked me in and i asked about the rental and it was not in the system. So he asked matt. Matt refused the rental, kevin even tried to explain to matt, but matt didnt want to lsten, just said no we dont give out rentals, and said sorry i was told wrong and walked away. Very rude. I am a very busy person and dont have time to wait hour(s) on a repair. They said they would have a rental waiting on me at no cost, and they lied about it. This is dishonest. They wasted my time and gas. I left the lying dealership and went home with the recall not fixed. As far as i am concern, since they refused the rental they said they would provide, they refused to fix the recall. When i got home, i called the customer assistance center and they refused to help.

On december 27, 2002 and december 30, 2002. I took my vehicle to jeffrey buick 30800 gratiot ave roseville, michigan 48066 on 12/27/02 because my car would not keep antifreeze in the reservoir(possible coolant leak) and the dashboard low coolant and service engine soon (ses) light was on. The car was missing and backfiring during engine start up and was almost stalling while driving. I took the car into the shop and told the service sales advisor kenneth hope what was the problem. It was diagnosed as a spark plug problem and secondary ignition wire. I approve for them to do the repairs.on december 30, 2002 i was back at jeffrey buick service for the same problem, low coolant/service engine light (ses) and antifreeze reservoir not keeping coolant. On december 31, 2002service sales advisor jon pingel stated that the problem was due to the engine burning coolant, and that the upper plastic intake manifold/intake gasket. R&r 3.8.k had to be replaced. Icame into the shop and asked him what had caused the problem. He stated to me that this is an on going problem, a manufacture defected with the buick regal were that the hose will melt and let coolant into the engine compartment, he also indicated that he receives between five to ten buick regals a week with the same problem. I asked if there had been a recall for this problem and he stated no. He then stated that if the problem is not repaired it could lead to the engine locking up or a possible engine fire. He stated that i could contact the general motors customer relations department and make a complaint and see if they would reimburse me the cost of the repair $771.81. I called the gm customer relations department there was nothing that could be done.consumers of the buick regal must know of the possible dangers involved with the engine/coolant problem and be reimbursed for repairs done. If you can please investigate this before someone dies like in the firestone tires incident. *nlm

In june 2009 i received a recall notice for1999 buick regal that there have been reported engine fires and they were issuing a recall.i have owned my car for approx. 7 years and though i planned on taking it in to get the recall repaired, i hadn't had a chance to do it yet as of 9/1/09.i had actually called the dealership the prior week to see if i had to make an appointment and they said no, to just come by anytime.i work 6 days a week and taking it was going to be hard for me but i have always gotten it done in the past.anyway, i drove the car 11 miles from my moms house to my house on the 1st. And when i got home i carried in some groceries and sent my son outside to get the rest.he came back in yelling that my car was on fire! my husband who was home popped up the hood and flames were about a foot high. I had parked right by the house and he grabbed the hose and my sons sweatshirt and together he and my son put the fire out.the burned area is right where the recall described the fire could happen.i called the dealership and they referred me to the buick recall line.i called them and they took my info. 2 weeks later i get a letter that says my "warranty claim" has been denied.i called the number back at the top of the letter but it had been disconnected! i called the recall line number but kept getting a voice mail and no return calls back.finally on 10/21 i called them and they again told me to call the number on the letter and i said is was not in service and they said the number was printed wrong and gave me the correct number.i called and they told me that "the warranty had expired on the car and that they were under no obligation to fix it after that", even though it was under recall, that it was more of a "suggestion" for repair and that they were not going to repair it.they said under the warranty law, they were no longer responsible for this car....even though its not a warranty situation!the car has not been moved since.

Well friday, i went to work in the regal, like always, about 5 minutes after punching in at work someone came running in and saidthere'sa blue regal out there with smoke pouring out the hood, so iwent out and sure enough it was me, i popped the latch from the inside, went around the front and peered in * without opening it* and saw flames,i got a fire extinguisher, opened the hood and dowsed it, meanwhile the fire department was called. Since i got to it so quick the damage was contained to the engine compartment. It looks like it somehow started on the front of the engine or possibly by the fuse box, i don't know... Basically all the wires were on fire!, they melted the coolant bottle, some of the fuse box, the front valve cover and oil cap, passenger engine mount, windshield washerreservoir cap, boost bypass valve and the brake fluid container,..spark plug wires were toast as well. The hood has two small spots where the paint just started to bubble as well. I'm so bumbed out.after some research i found out that this is being investigated on 99-02 cars with the l67, after driving and parking the vehicles.. They catch fire!!!! which is what happened to me. Mine isa 99 buick regal gs with the l67 what do i do, is gm going do anything or am i just screwed?????

The fire got worst and engulfed the entire front of the car with flames, the fire dept. In december of 2006 my 1999 buick regal gse with supercharger caught on fire in engine department 5 to 10 minutes after leaving vehicle.there was a complaint of a 'burnt toast' smell in the area of the vehicle prior to the fire. We did notice a decrease in the mpg indicator (5mpg less )several days prior to the fire . The fire resulted in a total loss of the vehicle. The fire also caused a monetary loss due to the fact that we were responsible for a $500 insurance deductible plus the insurance company only gave us trade-in value instead of replacement value for the vehicle.

Engine fire.

My buick regal 3.8 1999 has stalled while running at speed 5 times in the past five days.the deale, thompson buick, placerville ca said that they could do nothing since it is an intermitant problem.i shift into n and then turn the key to start while still traveling and it usually starts.

I have a 1999 buick regal in which the intake manifold is leaking. This is not new and recalls have been issued by gm for park avenue cars with similar 3.8 l engines.the car was fine until one day all of a sudden, the service engine light along with low coolant, trac off and hot temp lights came on. The gm dealer estimates the cost to be around $700+ and thinks that because of that the gasket may have been corroded.

There were loud noises coming from the engine. The plastic connecting tube which carried the antifreeze broke and allowed coolant to flow into engine, and destroyed the engine. Also, the dealer replaced the head gaskets, valve seals, flywheel, intake plenum, spark plugs and starter.

While traveling at 25 mph the vehicles engine light illuminated andthe temperature gauge went to hot.the consumer was able to drive about 8 more blocks before the engine died.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the upper manifold was defective.*nlm

The plastic intake manifold melted between egr port and water jacket.this allowed coolant to flood the motor.three weeks after this $1200 repair i spun a rod bearing probably.$2700 later.

On july 31, 2004 i attempted to start my 1999 buick regal for the first time that day and immediately noticed a tapping noise coming from under the hood along with a foul odor that did not smell like antifreeze. The low coolant light on, though i had just flushed and refilled the radiator just 3 months before.while attempting to get the car to the repair shop, it died and would not start again.i was later informed that a defect common to this engine had caused the problem; the upper intake manifold is made of plastic and had broke, allowing coolant to enter the engine.just to replace the manifold is going to cost me $652. And the extent of the engine damage can only be determined afterwards.i do not understand how the manufacturer could build such an expensive, supposedly "luxury" vehicle with such a cheap part that they know will eventually fail without warning and end the life of the vehicle or require very high repair bills.it is just their deceptive way of making their vehicles disposable and ripping off the consumer.this is the 3rd buick i have owned and i've always praised the buick name, but they've just lost a customer!!something should be done about their deceptive manufacturing practices.

The hvac panel lights have gone out so i can't tell where blower is set. Every time it rains i get water on the passenger side floor.it looks like it comes in the back and makes its way to the front if enough rain enters.

Digital readout on climate control center has gone black.dealer tells me only way to remedy problem is to replace entire component, at cost of over $600.00.problem very wide spread.buick refuse to cover repair.

Buick regal ls 1999, leaked water from underneath the glove compartment when it rain.the dealer determined that the tubes from the evap case were cracked causing rain water to enter the blower motor and a resistor which shorted out the a/c.the repair was not covered under the vehicle's extended warranty.

Electronic climate control display totally black.display started to loose intensity about 2 months prior to becoming totally blank.module still seems to work for now.however, other than by guessing, it is impossible to determine temperature, air flow, fan speed.i have not yet gone to the dealer, but i am guessing this will be a very expensive repair, since the entire module will probably have to be replaced.

Speakers failed. Nm

Someone needs to get this issue fixed.

The transmission was found to be defective after going back to thedealer numerous times and no defects were found.the right rear fog light fell out.

While driving, both headlights failed almost causing consumer to lose control and have an accident.dealer diagnosed that dimmer switch failed.

Consumer states headlights failed while driving.upon inspection, the dealer advised that the multifunction module switch, located in vehicle's steering column, had failed. Ts

1) while driving at night with the brights on my headlights go out (fail) at random.the headlights come back on when the dimmer switch is hit ~or~ by themselves if i wait it out.2) this headlight failure has caused several near accidents.it's a definite safety issue.3) i have taken my vehicle in to be looked at twice and no correction has yet to be made to the problem.my mechanic now believes that it's due to a malfunction in the dimmer switch.*** this failure started in mid november '07 and has been ongoing ever since with several random incidents weekly.

1999 buick regal front turn signals keep burning out, i believe it is from the housing that holds the bulbs. It seem like the plastic at the bottom of the bulb that snaps in to the housing sparks and burns it causing the bulbs to fail.

Repeated failures of the plastic bulb socket (gm part #12456483) on front turn signal -parking light on 1999 buick regal.the bulb, a standard 3157na, burns out in exactly the same fashion as bulbs that burn out on other gm models covered by the nhtsa safetyrecall is # 04v524. Apparently the bulb is not securely held in place and the arcing that results burns away the plastic of the bulb and the bulb socket.the absence of a visible left turn signalis a safety issue.

Engine oil leaking on to exhaust manifold through valve cover gaskets-smoking-small fire extinguished-no extensive damage

While driving at night time, dash panel lightsgo out completely or are faint.this is very dangerous.

I purchased a 1999 buick regal ls new. I have had to replace the front driver side and rear driver side power door locks in the past. I fear for our safety due to the windows falling down at any given time.this has happened to my wife several times while driving. My wife and i are over age 57 with no children in the home. We hardly use the windows. These parts are prematurely falling apart and we are requesting a survey and safety investigation on the 1999 buick regal and any other gm vehicles containing the same or similar mechanism and power units used to secure and move windows up and down.the window can drop down at high speeds causing serious injury depending on weather conditions or as a reaction by the driver to a sudden loss of pressure. Please help us. Sincerely, robert and penny amrine. Cary, nc

(1) i noticed about 1 month ago that the left rear window did not go down, upon examining the left rear door i found that the electronics also did not operate the door lock and that door stayed unlocked at all speeds.

Consumer has been unable to obtain a fix for recall for drivers side carpet which has come undone which can snag a females shoe causing her to trip.nlmconsumer states after several attempts to have the passenger side door lock repaired at several dealers and being told they could not repair the lock, several independent mechanic claim the problem is the automatic switch which will not spring the lock back completely to allow the door to be opened, it remians in the lock position, consumer was advised by mechanic they can not correct the problem because the vehicle is still under warranty , gm mechanics claim they do not not what the problem is.

Consumer states that the vehicle will roll down the driveway if the parking brake is pushed all the way to the floor, the dealership can not find any problem.

Complete brake failure 1999 buick regal. While leaving a car wash, experienced a total brake failure.subsequent mechanical work determined the cause to be two severely corroded brake lines, one front and one rear brake line, both leaking brake fluid.. (this failure could have had catastrophic results as we were planning an 850 mile trip the next day in this car.)mechanic said these brake lines were not stainless steel , did not appear to be protected by any coating, and "we see this corrosion on cars from the north".the car lived in chicago for its first 6 years.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. While attempting to place the gear shifter in drive, the vehicle jerked and began to shake. While the vehicle was on an incline, it failed to properly accelerate and started to shake. All of the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to penske chevrolet of cerritos (18605 studebaker rd, cerritos, ca 90703 (562) 924-1676). But no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to boulevard buick gmc (2800 cherry ave, signal hill, ca 90755 (562) 492-1000) where it was diagnosed that the oil needed to be changed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle has stalled out 5 times, all different speeds and circumstances. Engine loses power, speedometer goes up to 120mph. Problem reported to dealership 5 times, unable to fix or find prob.occurs every 3-4 weeks.

I am in army & while driving to work one morning at 5:30 am my van slowly started accelerating the more i pressed the brake the faster the van went, by the time i reached the street the van was up to 50 mph i was afraid so i call my husband, told him the situation & the street i was traveling, he was on the way. By then i was up to 60-65 mph, i called 911 stated the situation, asking for help & to have someone on the phone just in case. I almost hit a bus, looking ahead a few blocks i saw back-to-back traffic starting to build-up, i did not want to hurt myself or anyone else, then going 65-70 mph i looked over and saw a park i turned the van into the park & to stop it i decided to crushed the van into a tree. I turned toward the tree and jumped out; the van crashed into the side of the tree & continued to keep going. I ran after it as i saw the van jump the curb and going 70mph towards the row of homes across the street crashed into a tree head on. The van engine after all that continued to roar as if trying to keep going. I flagged down a van and recalled the police to let them know where the van had stopped. When the fire department came & turned the van off they told me the van was on fire & theytowed it away. This is a blessing know one was hurt, but something needs to be done about this, & for the auto company not to investigate is a tragedy. What are they saying numerous people will have to die, before they will admit there maybe a problem, just to save money? if that is the case shame on them. I am here by grace, but i can't help but to think of those this same situation may have happen to, but did not live to say why or how it happen. If this is what is happening god bless the roads we drive on that the next person my not think to do what i did & the live it will affect. Thank you, for letting me post my story.

The vehicle in question is a 1999 buick regal lse with 63,000 miles.regular maintenance has been performed in a timely manner.when backing out of a parking spot with the car in reverse and foot lightly on the brake, it felt as though i had bumped into another car or that my wheel had slipped into a pot hole.upon examination, nothing was hit by the body of the car or the wheels.this happened one time and then one time a month later.two days after that, the incident repeated itself, and the vehicle would not move in reverse when idling unless i pressed on the gas hard.after taking the vehicle to a buick dealership for diagnosis, i had the transmission replaced.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal.the vehicle was purchased with a faulty transmission.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the transmission had previously been replaced prior to him purchasing the vehicle.four years later, the transmission failed again and causes the vehicle to jerk while in first and second gears.lately, the vehicle has become difficult to drive due to the jerking and slipping.the current and failuremileages were 120,000.

The transmission was found to be defective after going back to thedealer numerous times and no defects were found.the right rear fog light fell out.

Contact owns a 1999 buick regal.while driving 5 mph, up a hill, the transmission would slip or take a very long time to shift gears.in addition, the vehicle would shake would shake.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.the current mileage was 85,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.

While parked in a driveway withengine off, with a 7 yrs old child invehicle, vehicle roll out of the driveway into a neighbor yard and hit a tree.child was without injury, and the gear shift was still in parked position. Dealer was notified, and replaced transmission interlock system. Provide any further information on this matter.

My drivers side seat belt has stopped locking into place. This is a concern because i am not able to use my seat belt; this becomes a safety issue. I have not misused the seat belt in any way for it to just fail on me is an issue. I see that other consumers have had similar issues.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. When removing the rear passenger seat, it was discovered that the seat belt was not properly anchored to the bolt that connected the seat belt buckle to the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and diagnosed. The contact screwed a nut to attach the bolt that anchored the seat belt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Updated 05/10/16*ljthe consumer stated the nut was never installed during the manufacturing process.updated 05/11/16,

The vehicle was involved in an accident, and the seat belts did not restrain the consumer properly, which caused injuries.

Rear seat belts malfunction-cannot insert buckle in two out of three belts.

The car that me and my fiance have is a 1999 buick regal and both rearseat belts have locked and will not unlock. Forcing me to put my child in the middle which is a very dangerous spot for a child in a car seat because they can be thrown from the car. I have read several other sites and there are complaints of this same issue with one or both seat belts. I feel this is a defect in the seat belts. Also just recently the front passenger seat belt will not fasten into holder because their is a part that will no longer allow for the buckle to be pushed down. I would like you all to investigate. The back seat belts have been locked for months and there is no way someone could have just broken them they are still intact.

Safety belt was defective. Passenger's seat belt functioned. Driver' seat belt malfunctioned and i flew forward hitting my head against steering wheel.the release mechanism that releases the holding unit was loose.the consuemr was rear ended and the consumer was injured as a result of the seat belt failure.*tc

Driver side seat belt buckle will not lock. Consumer has been having this problem with the belt for a year. Did not have nhtsa phone #.

While attempting to put child back in safety seatpulledseat belt to secure css, and the seat belt would not unlock/release.

We have had 6 incidents of the rear seat belt retractors locking up making them unusable. The failures have happened on the right and left sides. This leaves one of our two children using the center lap belt, until repairs can be made. Once both shoulder belts failed at the same time leaving us a seatbelt short. Gm claims this is the only buick in central il. With this problem and therefore it will cost aprx. 150.00 to fix each time. I feel this leaves my children at risk. This problem needs addressed nation wide as i feel this must be a design problem not just bad luck.

- the contact was drivingabout 30 mph when he smelled gas fumes. The contact stated thatvehicle had a cut fuel line back near the firewall. The gas spilled on the engine, there was no fire. The contact took the car to the dealer, and they could not tell him why it had happened. The heated seat relay was replaced. Updated 02/09/07.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. While pumping fuel in the vehicle, flames appeared under the hood. A station attendant opened the hood and extinguished the fire. The contact called her brother-in-law, an independent mechanic, who towed the vehicle to his residence. The mechanic assessed the damage and diagnosed that the abs wires underneath the vehicle burned. The wires were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Approximately eight months later, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 180,000.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to hold the brake fluid. Brake fluid leaked from underneath the body of the vehicle. The brakes failed to stop the vehicle properly. The brake pedal needed to be depressed in a pulse like manner in order to stop the vehicle properly. The brake pedal traveled to the floor ocassionally. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who stated that the brake line was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls involving the brake lines. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

My wife?s 99 buick regal, with less than 31,000 miles, bought new 12/99, suddenly started to lose brake fluid during the first week of september.we could see no obvious leaks but each time we test drove the car, a small amount of brake disappeared from the master cylinder reservoir.since the warranty ended last december, i called gm special policy adjustment program and i was advised to take the car to the closest local gm dealership and have the problem diagnosed so repair requirements and costs could be determined for any possible special adjustment.i called the local sun dealer on 9/4, but i was politely told don?t come here because i didn?t buy the car there and they didn?t want to get involved in any cross warranty issues (despite the fact that i was willing to pay for their time).i took our buick to a trusted local repair center and it was promptly determined there was a rusted and leaking metal brake line, other severely rusted (but not leaking) brake lines and severely pitted, corroded and rusted rear brake rotors.the private garage replaced the rusted & leaking brake lines, rear rotors & brake pads for a total cost of $412.31.all replaced parts were given to me at my request.on 9/6 i fully documented what had transpired and submitted it to buick?s online customer relations, and was assigned request # 1-137192830.i was told via email buick?s gm special policy adjustment program would follow up. On 9/11 i spoke with a gm's special policy adjustment program person, explained what had transpired and was told only the service manager at the servicing dealer could approve any reimbursement outside of the warranty.they would notify him of my claim.on 9/12 i called the service manager (who seemed very concerned because of the car?s low mileage) but he couldn?t do anything without the area service manager?s approval.a few days later i received a voice mail saying the area service manager wouldn?t get involved or approve of any reimbursement.

My wife said the brakes felt "funny". But no red warning light showed. I went to drive the car to see what the problem was. When i started the engine and pushed the brake, the peddle went all the way to the floor and the brake fluid drained out in a puddle under the can - then the red warning light went on. Prior to this, there was no indication of a brake problem. If we had been driving, we would have had an accident.the car was towed to the dealer, who is now making repairs.i contacted gm to complain about the catastrophic nature of this brake failure -they will not accept any responsibility.i am concerned that this is likely to happen to other buick owners will serious negative results.

Severely rusted rear brake rotors resulting in caliper pins seizing and premature wearing of brake pads on rear wheel brakes.vehicle is 6 years old with only 46,500 miles.required to replace brake rotors, hardware and pads.vehicle still has original pads and rotors on the front brakes.

Stepped on brakes, pedal went bto the floor. Stopped car using emergency brake. Brake line inside rear crossmember rusted through (line well protected, not exposed to road debris etc) local repair shop stated he has had other buicks with same failure.

1999 buick regal abs light and check engine light come on when you press on brake and intermittently all dash warning lights will come on.the brake module, connector, heat/air control display would become bright and then go dark. The dealer replaced the control head. The ignition switch was replaced.

I was informed by three different mechanics that these parts should not fail. No safety defect listed.

The check engine light, abs, traction"lights contantly come on, the windows do not roll up or down. It started getting worse and worse then one day they just wouldn't work.

Consumer contacted the dealer regarding recall number 99v170000 /manufacturer'srecall 99033, abs brakes.dealer refuse d to correct recall.

While driving at 45 to 50 mph hit another vehicle on the left side.consumer applied the brakes, butvehicle was swerving to the left and right. And therewasno power steering.

Ongoing problem with abs sensor light intermittently coming on, and indicating abs braking failure.vehicle been in dealer's shop on four occasions, and problem isreoccurring.

Recall repair refused by dealership (99v-170).yh

Consumer is being denied recall repair 99v17, the dealer is stating that this particular vehicle is not included.

Consumer states that the front brake pads have been replaced twice, while there is still plenty of brake pad in the back, consumer feels that the rear brakes are non functional, causing the front brakes to do all of the work.

Brakes continually overheat and cause the wheel covers to become almost too hot to touch.brakes, rotors, calipers, pads and brake fluid on both front and back just changed last week and the problem persists.gas mileage is down almost 10%.no warning lights on.

Front discbrakes have rusted. Vehicle has less 24,000 miles. Dealer is aware of the situation.however, refuses to resolve this matter by replacing the disc. Dealer states that they will turn the disc. Please provide any furhter information.

Brakes pulsated: dealer turned rotors @15,200 mi.(no charge) the vehicle is 9 months old and i've had the rotors turned. The pulsation returned 12,000 miles later, (now 8 months since rotors were machined.)along with "traction control" warning lite, "anti lock breaks" lite and "service soon" lite.dealer's written comment: "cause:.. Shorted." dealer replaced "e2320 bearing and hub assmbly, front wheel- replacement right. No charge.""front rotors out of round-work declined."work on the rotors was declined because the dealer and general motors will not waranty the rotors. The assistant service mgr said, "rotors get hot, sometimes they warp when driven through puddles." on a gm recorded line a customer relations agent said that it is not uncommon for rotors to be turned every 15000 miles.if that were the case, i'll need new rotors when my break pads finally need replacing.the dealer never claimed that my driving is at fault. He never indicated excessive wear on the break pads. My contention is gm installed inferior rotors on this vehicle, or perhaps calipers are sticking which may create enough heat to warp the rotors and cause the sensor failures i mentioned earlier.

When appylingbrakes they are noisy due to warped rear rotors which had to be grounded or quickly fixed. Please give any further details.

Dt: caller stated brake lines and fuel lines were rusty. Caller'swife was driving and the brake light came on, and when caller checked, there was no fluid in the master cylinder. The brake pedal went to the floor. Callerfound a hole in the front brake line. Caller noticed that the fuel line was rusting as well. Dealer and manufacturer stated warranty expired, and there was nothing they coulddo for him. Caller was taking vehicleto a mechanic to get the front brake line fixed.

Sudden loss of brake fluid due to premature rusting of metal brake lines.brake warning light came on, brake pedal went mushy, some difficulty in stopping vehicle.subsequent examination revealed metal brake lines severely rusted in three places, one resulted in said loss of fluid.

The vehicle brake line and fuel linerusted. As a result the brakes failed completely.please provide additional information.

August 2017', the steering began to pull very slightly left and right at all speeds but more noticeable at low speeds or when turning the wheels at a stop with a very slight clunk noise that got louder over the year. Visible inspection at my repair shop during a flat rear tire repair did not find anything worn out or damaged but suggested maybe a ball joint could be getting old enough to need replaced as it did have about 158,000 or so miles on it but they couldn't indicate if it was a ball joint specifically as there was no unusual movement or noise from one. I also checked and found no issues with any component underneath. No leaks and power steering fluid was good.then september 7, 2018', while driving around town the steering made a loud clunk steering left and really began to pull especially left. I got it home 3 miles later and put it on ramps and had someone work the steering wheel back and forth and i found the clunk is coming from the drivers side of the rack and pinion assembly. You can literally see it jump when it clunks. After this stationary test the steering was much worse, the car was not drivable f the block with out heavy effort on the steering wheel so it is parked until it can get fixed. Complaint history for this issue with gm vehicles in this +/- 2 year range is alarming.

Someone needs to get this issue fixed.

I called a gm motors dealer and they tell me that their is no recalls on my car, but when i looked on this site, their is 8 codes with the one recall i just got done not long ago!! i want my car fixed!

Consumer stated when turning there is a weird noise in the steering column.took to dealer and rack mounting bolts had worked loose, consumer feels if bolts loosen to much they may not be any steering.please provide any further information. Mr

Steering assembly needed to be replaced at 67,000 miles on 1999 buick regal which has been well cared for. Single owner virtually all highway use vehicle 3.5 years old.steering became sluggish when car was first started, then responded normally.was told some internal seals were worn.this could have been major safety problem, but fortunately not.i have never had a vehicle where the steering assembly from wheel to wheel had to be replaced and have driven 6 vehicle's to over 100,000 miles, one 130,000.

1999 buick regal. Consumer seeks reimbursement for power steering repairs *tgwthe repair shop replaced the steering gear assembly.

Intermittently while driving at low speeds, it was difficult to turn the steering wheel to the left.the cause of the problem had not been determined.

The steering failed on the vehicle.*dt

At low speeds (parking; turning) steering loss is experienced.complained to dealer after first purchased. Was told to keep the rpms up to assist turning. Gets so bad i have had to stop and back up and use all my strength to turn the wheel.

My 1999 buick regal ls continues to demonstrate an occasional power steering failure.the failure occurs with a first start/cold start or after the vehicle has been sitting for a period of time after being operated.the problem is a lack of "power steering" when turning to the left, i.e. When pulling out of a parking space in a parking lot and a hard left turn is required.the situation is negated after the steering wheel is returned to a straight position or full right position.this occasional failure has been ongoing for more than 40,000 miles but has been more frequent with this winter's extreme cold weather.my vehicle currently has 99,000+ miles.the recent recall by gm of 1996-1998 regals for this same problem has prompted my reporting of this failure with my vehicle.

Almost caused accident, power steering pump and pressure hose replaced, problem not corrected. Steering to left is very difficult even after pump was replaced, as it was prior to pump being replaced.

When driving at any speed and making a turn, tires felt like they were in water. Also power steering felt loose.

Power steering fails when turning to the right.unit operates correctly when turning to the right, however there in intermittent power assist to the left.the unit failed when turning in a parking lot to the left, there was a pop followed by a complete loss of power assist to the left.the fluid level in the power steering resivoir is normal, how a slight pressure was observed when the cap was removed.

Power steering pump is defective.dealer has been notified.

Insufficient info-the consumer has a concern about the tie rod.scc

Consumer states that the left hand side tie rod had broke and the consumer needs to replace the part. Contacted dealer and the dealer is aware of the problem but is not willing to do anything.nlm

In the waterloo courier of 9/23/03 it was reported that the federal government is investigating a possible steering defect in gm vehicles.the problem described involved difficulty in steering when making left turns.this happened to me and my daughter (who was driving my car at the time) on saturday, september 13, in cedar falls, iowa.we were able to drive the vehicle (1999 buick regal)back to waverly to jerry roling's dealership.on monday, september 15, i was informed that the rack and pinion (sp?) had gone out and needed to be repaired.because the gm dealership was going to charge approx. $400 more than my regular mechanic, i had the car transfered to garry's tire in waverly where the work was done.i picked up my car on tuesday, september 16.i thought i should report this incident to you even though the 1999 regal was not one of those listed in the article.

When trying to make a right turn power steering failed, making it difficult fordriver to turn the steering wheel. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replacedrack and pinion. Manufacturer has recalled some models for this problem, but didn't covered consumer's.in addition, steering failed when driver was making a right turn in a parking lot.*la

While making a left turn and without warning, the steering wheel locked up, the and vehicle would not turn at all.the driver drove the vehicle to dealership. The mechanic replaced the rack andpinion. (making left turns were very hard and stiff)the consumer avoided an accident by turning right.the rack and pinion was binding and was replaced. *scc

When making a left turn at low speeds, the vehicle lost power steering. The consumer stated there was a recall regarding the steering issue, however the recall stopped at the 1998 models.

I am the owner of a 1999 buick regal ls. I have 70,000 miles on my car. In december i noticed problems making sharp turn to the right. I would be backing out of drive ways or making 3-point turns and i would hear and feet a clink like something it stuck and then pushes through with pressure. On february 3, 2006 i drove my car as usual and there was a very strong resistance to turn to the left. The steering wheel would not make left turns without lots of force and stepping off the brake. I lose power steering assist only making left turns, the right turn is just fine. I would hear a pop when i would force the turn. I had the problem checked out right away and was said to be a steering rack and pinion problem. I did some research and found out that my same model was recalled for the exact problem in 96' 97' and 98 models, but not the 1999. I contacted gm for them to take responsibility and pay for this, but they will not!!! i was forced to take it to a gm dealership in tampa, fl to get this fixed, as the car was unable and not safe to drive at all. They installed a new rack and pinion and a tie rod, costing $1,000.00 for the total work. I am upset with the fact gm is not taking responsibility for this problem when the same car 3 years before had the exact problem and i have found many many people with the same problem and the same year and model as my car and they had to pay for it themselves as well. I have a one year or 12,000 warranty on the rack and pinion and tie road. I had the work done on friday, feburary 10, 2006.

Over several weeks time i noticed that when vehicle was sitting still right turn required greater effort to turn steering wheel, as though wheel was against curb. Then noticed that i could "shake" tires if grasped at 3 and 9 oclock also could hear a sligth "clunk"took car to dealer and was told rack and pinion was defective, with vehicle on rack mechanic pierced rubber boot on rack and pinion assembly and fluid ran out, also tie rod end was loose.

Clunking feel in steering as if loose component or excess freeplay somewhere.original "rack" was replaced, and now 3000 miles later, the replacement rack is getting loose and causing the clunking.there's a service alert within general motors # 98-12, but clearly they haven't solved it, since replacement units soon redevelop the problem.issue aside from the annoyance of clunking in the steering gear, is "when is something going to fall off and cause lack of steering"?incidentally, my wife recently purchased a '98 olds intrigue, and they just replaced her steering rack.wonder how long it will last?feel free to contact me for more details.

1999 regal with 47,000 mile has developed a clanking noise from steering wheel when making left turn same problem now exist when making right or left turn. Delivery date on service id is 28 oct 98.yet this model isnot listed in lastest power steering recall - thedescription of my problem is duplicated in this latest recall.

Had to replace the rack on the power steering system today due to steering difficulty and leakage.the vehicle only has 104k miles.repair cost by a buick dealership was approximately $1400.00.

I am the original owner of a 1999 buick regal gs (3.8l super charged) with approx. 85,000 miles.on jan. 12, 2006 i lost power assist when making a left hand turn.this failure only effected the power assist in a left hand turn; right was ok. I pulled into a parking spot after a short drive to work and noticed the steering got tight. I heard a 'pop' when i lost assist. After work i drove home with no assist to the left. The problem is only when the wheel is turned clockwise from straight on position. I haven't driven a non-power steering car in about 15 years but this seemed much worse (very difficult to steer). I checked for any type of leak or belt issue, but my initial thought is if that was the problem i would have the problem regardless of steering direction.i have since spoke to a dealer regarding the problem and they are confident a replacement of the steering rack and pinion is required.there is actually a safety recall for 1996-98 buick regals for this identical issue.this is a very serious problem that could result an accident.

One owner car, well maintained and safely driven.70000 miles.while driging car, steering locked up during left and right turns.steering popped"out of position several times.very hazardous to drive.mechanic was a short distance away, however ty the time i got there, the steering wheel was positioned at the 4 o'clock position wihile drigin straight ahead.mechanic stated the only other car that he had seen a rack fail on so early was a '97 buick regal.understand there was a recall that eneded in 1998.repair to replace rack, $800.additional cost of $350 at dealer to fix airbag warning light.dealer maintains incorrect repair to rack caused this problem in the steering wheel.old part is not available.this was a serioius hazard!

I have owned this car less than one year and am experiencing extreme paint (dark blue color) flaking.the flaking of paint is occurring around all parts of the car including doors, above wheels, back quarter panel, trunk, and hood.the car has 80,000 miles and has been well maintained--garage kept, washed weekly, and routinely has oil change and check ups.this seems to be a problem with the manufactures paint.

Rear bumper bottom left side came apart.yh

Steering wheel vibrates whendrivingvehicle. Dealership is aware of the problem.

Vehicle "shakes" on smooth roads, pitched roads, on curved roads.

I called a gm motors dealer and they tell me that their is no recalls on my car, but when i looked on this site, their is 8 codes with the one recall i just got done not long ago!! i want my car fixed!

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal.the contact noticed that the front end of the vehicle would move inconsistently with the rest of the vehicle.the failure occurred while driving at any speed.the dealer stated that the front sway bar failed and needed to be replaced.the contact has been waiting three months to have the vehicle repaired because the parts are on nationwide back order.the vehicle has not yet been repaired.the failure mileage was 98,700 and current mileage was 108,000.

Outer edge tire wear and feathering/cupping on three sets of tires. Dealer refuses to help beyond alignment, states "no problem found". Aligned and balanced all wheels 6 time since new, car vibrates through seat and steering column at all speeds over 15mph, difficult to control vehicle.( dot number: )

Left front wheel bearings broke off whileconsumer was driving at 35 mph, andleft front wheel fell offvehicle. Contacted dealer.

Original equipment on a 1999, buick, regal at cityspeeds tire blewout due to a chunk of tread separating. Goodyear dealer has been notified.consumer states that 3 tires failed due to a puncture, plug failure, and tires had problems keeping air prior to failures, tires are goodyear eagle.

My goodyear eagle ls tires (original tires) failed to pass the state inspection at 16, 284 miles.the buick dealership & discount tire both confirmed that the tread measured lower than accepted standards at 2/32 on the front tires and just barely passed at 4/32 on the back.both confirmed it was even wear not caused by bad alignment.i could not believe my tires had gotten to the point of being unsafe on a new car with only 16,284 miles on it.i feel the goodyear tires gm used that year were not good and i feel this should be investigated on other cars from that time period.i was furious i had to spend $400 to purchase four new tires when i'd rotated these and did everything that was required of me.i'm just thankful for the state inspections that brought this to my attention and possibly saved me from an accident from a blow out.i would like to think i had some recourse for this unnecessary expense but doubt that i will.thank you for your interest in public safety. (tiresize: p225/60r16)( dot number:tire size: p225/60r16 )

When driving at any speed and making a turn, tires felt like they were in water. Also power steering felt loose.

Tread separation appeared on all 4 tires almost to the same degree. I was never notified of a recall on the defective tires. (dot number: m6x0bmwr 2tiresize: p2256016)

Engine oil leaking on to exhaust manifold through valve cover gaskets-smoking-small fire extinguished-no extensive damage

Weird engine noise , when switching the ignition switch sometimes delay, also dash lights and headlights also ac doesn't work and low oil , low air , and low coolant lights turn on even if all of them are full at the right level .

Now the car starts but runs too rough to even trust to drive it! why have the recall if it was going to catch fire anyways!

The front brakes failed to release. The pads were not worn, however, they were unglued.. The dealer informed the consumer the glue on the brakes wad defective.

07/25/2021 started the motor, in stationary in personal driveway, in idle it began to puff thick white smoke from the tail pipe and exhaust manifold in the engine compartment. Turned engine off within 15 seconds of starting the engine. Left vehicle off for 24 hrs, and tried to turn the motor back on and the engine seized and would not crank over. Tried 3-5 additional times to start engine, with the same outcome. Since this occurence vehicle has been left undriveable and still remains in personal driveway. Recall number: 240412

While driving 60 mph vehicle completely shutsdown without warning. Also when proceeding from a stopvehicle will at times surge forward, cause unknown.please give any further details.

While backing vehicle out it accelerated backwards into traffic. Took vehicle to dealer & was placed on diagnostic machine. Nothing found.would only happen when in reverse. Been to dealer twice for problem & each time nothing was found wrong. Each time it happened foot was on brakes.

A clip that holds the accelerator pedal in position fell off. The vehicle would not accelerate until the pedal was returned to its proper position and the clip was replaced. I feel there needs to be a better retention mechanism to hold the accelerator pedal in position. This could be a major safety concern if this failure were to occur during a passing manuever or other circumstances.

The contact owned a 1999 buick regal.the contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The contact pulled over to observed the vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the hood before the vehicle engulfed into flames. The fire department extinguished the fire.a police or fire report was not filed. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The vin was included in the nhtsa campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling).the manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The window regulator just failed yesterday on my 1999 buick regal- only 47k miles- we have replaced 3 other window regulators on pontiac grand am vehicles in the last 3 years.this is not a cheap repair- over $500 for each window!i see there are lots of people online complaining about the same thing.buick and gm should be held accountable for faulty mechanisms and there should be some compensation for repeated failues such as these. I will not buy americanmade cars again with a history of failures like these.

I have had five or six failures on this part on my two 1999 regal gs. Would of been mor but i wait until display fades more until i replace. Dealer is aware. Factory is aware. I have extended warranty, so it is free. People on youe site had to pay $600.00. This will cause an accident because you can not tell what is set in the hvac. If you need a constant heat and defog you can not tell. No display. Have to put hand to tell on vents. Gm ignoring the problem! not being able to tell if you are in defog is a safety issue!mr

1999 buick regal abs light and check engine light come on when you press on brake and intermittently all dash warning lights will come on.the brake module, connector, heat/air control display would become bright and then go dark. The dealer replaced the control head. The ignition switch was replaced.

Simultaneous failure of both motors in power windows in driver and front seat passenger of 1999 buick regal, causing sudden drop of windows.both were replaced by dealer at cost to owner of $1,100.no explanation was provided by dealer as to reason for this extraordinary occurence other than stating that replacement was not under expired warranty.the sudden drop of the windows was highly dangerous due to its distraction factor, inability to repel inclement elements, etc.

End of february 2006, the left rear window fell down for no apparent reason.took car on march 1, 2006 to a mechanic to fix and also to fix right front passenger window which had been malfunctioning(failure to roll down). This cost me $800 to repair both windows as the rear and front window regulators are over $300 a piece. Now on april 2, 2006 the right rear passenger window fell down without any apparent reason. A loud pop was heard and the window fell. 3 windows failing within a month does not sound reasonable.

The contact owns a 1999 buick regal.the current and failuremileage were 89000 miles.the contact stated that both the driver and rear side window regulators have failed on the vehicle.the dealer will repair the vehicle on 5/15/07 for this failure.

The electric motor for all 4 windows malfunctioned, and completely died. The windows will not come down. The motors burned out at different times. Consumer took the vehicle into the dealer. Consumer was told that these motors were a problem.

3 out of 4 power windows have failed. One was covered by extended warranty. The parts to fix the window yourself from dealer is over $300.00. The cost to have fixed at the dealer is over $500.00. Windows have failed for no apparent reason. Normal use only. The design/motors of these windows must be faulty.

Buick regal..99electric winows failing 3 now....very expensive fix 600 each time for a very minor plastic part..gm makes you buy 300 dollar assembly and a 200 to 300 dollar installationbecause a very common plastic rainier failure....they should be made to do a fix as described on websites....

Passenger side roller is marking the glass.nlm

I purchased a 1999 buick regal ls new. I have had to replace the front driver side and rear driver side power door locks in the past. My biggest concern is that i currently have the front drivers side as well as the rear passenger windows falling down with the power windows not working at all. I also have the front passenger window not working but at least that one window stays up. Cary, nc

The front driver side and passenger doors both have electrical windows, both window motors have gone out, they were stuck down. In june 2010 the back passenger window motor has done the same, it is stuck rolled down.

Dt*:the contact stated the rear passenger's side power window fell down without warning and will not go back up.the vehicle was taken to the dealership were the problem was found to be the electrical motor in the power window. During a period of time the front passenger's side window and the rear drivers side windows have also malfunctioned.the manufacturer has been alerted however, no repairs have been made.

While driving vehicle at various speeds, the outside mirror on driver's side would flicker or vibrates. Had no clear vision of other vehicles in mirror. Been to dealer to replace side mirrors. Not satisfied. Having the same problem with replacement mirrors. Customer service representativesaid all 99 buicks mirrors are like that.

Letter from congressman on behalf of constituent regarding a defective inside mirror from his 1999 buick regal.the consumer stated a liquid crystal had dripped down from the inside rear view mirror that caused damage to the trim and shift console below the mirror. It also caused the inside rear view mirror not to operate properly.

1999 buick regal with a defective inside rear view mirror. Customer states something melted inside the rearview mirror causing it to drip onto the console. Consumer would like to be reimbursed for the damages.the contact has the parts available as proof if nhtsa would like to review them. The dealer stated a liquid crystal inside the mirror couldhave possibly leaked out. As a result of the liquid crystal leaking, it caused the rear view mirror not to operate properly.updated 06/16/09.

The windshield wipers do not work properly, merely covering half the window.nlm

The nut that secures the drivers side wiper arm to the drive shaft came loose during a driving rain storm while traveling on the pa turnpike.the wipers were operating on the highest speed.the wiper arm flew off from the drive shaft and came to rest against the drivers side view mirror.drivers vision immediately and severely impaired due to the heavy downpour and only with great difficulty and caution (negotiating through other truck/car traffic) was able to pull off to the side off the road.you would expect a nut, securing such a critical item, would be designed not to come loose.turnpike service reattached the wiper arm and nut at no charge.

1999 buick regal had tires replaced at 30,000 miles.customer states that the tires do not hold air pressure so the wheels need to be replaced.the consumer stated the wheels were manufactured out of aluminum with defective chrome coatings. The consumer stated the tires would not adhere to the chrome properly.

Three tires were replaced because the aluminum wheels caused the tires to leak.*scc

Aluminum wheels caused the tires to leak, due to cracking & peeling. Both back tires had to be replaced at cost of $400.dealer refused to cover repair.

All four rims are peeling and breaking into pieces , creatingpockets that trap dirt and debris. This makes it impossible to align the tires.

Rim failed, tire was new and undamaged, manufacturer ,per dealer, refuses to acknowledge problem.

Both rear rims, original equipment, are experiencing loss of air pressure. Consumer replaced both rims, and the problem appeared to be corrected at this time.dealer was notified.
