My son was involved in a front end collision. The buick was totaled but the airbags did not deploy. He was going straight and an suv made a short left turn in front of him and her drivers side collided with his entire front end.

The padded dash peeled up away from the dash frame in front of steering wheel. It is peeling across from left to right. I am concerned about air bag deploying without warning. G.m. Says this part is discontinued and you can not find this part anywhere. There should be a recall on this padded dash before some one gets hurt.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the driver front air bag erroneously deployed. The vehicle was taken to both an independent mechanic and the dealer but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 113,179.

The padded dash has peeled up and away from dash frame in front of the steering wheel. It is continuing to spread (peel up and away from the frame) across the padded dash from left to right, towards the passenger area. It continues to grow in severity, and i am concerned about the passenger airbag, with respects to it deploying without warning, due to the peeling/warping of the dash around it. I have put a dash mat (cover) over the problem for appearance purposes, but even that doesn't hide the growing magnitude of the problem anymore. I have been told that it will cost me anywhere from $350 - $1,200.00 to correct this problem from independent repair shops in the area, to the gm buick dealer. This is a design flaw, & "safety" issue direct from the manufacturer. Other than this ever increasing problem, the car is in immaculate condition, & i would like to keep it due to its mechanical reliability, fuel economy, & comfort. I believe an oem padded dash replacement, should be made a recall on the part of gm as this has not happened due to negligence, age of the vehicle (it began when the car was relatively new), or accident. I respectfully look forward to receiving a response from you.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. While driving 45 mph, the contact fell asleep and crashed into a tree. None of the air bags deployed. The driver sustained a broken nose, fractured eye sockets, and head injuries, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 02v222000 (air bags). The vehicle was towed to a yard and the contact was waiting on the manufacturer to determine why the air bags failed to deploy. The failure mileage was not available.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated that while starting the ignition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis, who stated that the air bag sdm module would need to be replaced. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 02v222000 (air bags) but the contact's vin was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 75,368.

Air bag warning light and chimes sound at start up and stay on at all times.i pulled fuse out of concern the air bags may deploy when not needed.

The dash cover has separated from the front near the windshield.noticed everyone on car lots near this year also have the same problem.this is obviously a flaw in the product, please help. I've been told that if it continues across to right side the air bag will deploy.

My 'air-bag' light, for the past year, stays on constantly. Reading other messages on line, other owners have the same problem. Why isn't there a recall on this?

Air bag light illuminated when horn was used. Dealer repaired the vehicle four times, a fuse was replaced and the wiring of the power seat was wrapped around the horn....

My 2002 buick le sabre dashboard is peeling up & out along inside front window, also under radio and air bag, no dealer can fix it or auto repair shop. Afraid air bag is going to open up on passenger side...dash is opening under it.

I bought 2002 buick lesabre brand new and after approximately i year the dash began to buckle almost the entire length of the windshield. It is now approx 3to 4 inches high. I went to car gurus. Com and realized hundreds of people were having the same problem. I did not realize that this problem could impair air bag deployment. I believe this warrants a recall.

While driving at 35mph vehicle went off the side of road on an incline, hitleft front ofvehicle, and wentinto a tree.upon impact, none of the air bagsdeployed.

The top dashboard on my 2002 year buick lesabre has become dislodged at the driver's side and is slowly becoming dislodged towards the passenger side.this is a critical safety concern because this top dashboard houses the air bag at the passenger side.the passenger airbag can become inadvertently deployed killing the passenger.gm has refused to do a recall and its been 7 weeks since the national safety board said they will send me a complaint form to complete.i am gathering information to expose general motors lack of customer concern with a troubleshooter at my local tv station.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision while driving at 25 mph.upon impact, neither the driver side or the passenger side air bags deployed.the manufacturer and dealership were unable to indicate why the air bags failed to deploy. *sc

Dashmat on 2002 buick lasabre buckling above streering wheel where dashmat meets window.

Dash board separation from left to right towards passenger side airbag. Dealer & auto body shop offer no fix.

My wife arlene l holmquist was driving home from her volunteer job 75 miles at 5:30 pm in the afternoon and fell asleep approximatley 12 miles from home and went across the middle line and onto the opposite side of the road and received serious physical harm in the one car accident. Fractured nose facial cuts and bruises as well as bruises on her upper and lower body. None of the air bags deployed/ car was hit in the center of the front of the car also major damage on the left front of the car.two new sensors were installed when the repairs were done.car was in the garage 43 days.

I have removed my dashboard cover or so called dash board pad and have re-glued it 3 times and now it is curling up at the forward end again. The front of the headliner is now rotting at the foam area between the fabric and the molded shape, the same as has been ocurring since the early 1980's.the foam is deteriorating from the heat and the sun, (florida owners are effected more than some), turning to powder so there is nothing that can be done other than replace it with the same garbage from gm or have an upholstery shop like mine. Http://www.markthree.com replace the fabric on the existing ceiling shaping board, after spending hours removing the ceiling headliner from the car and then removing all of the rotted foam and fabric brought to a clean and usable surface.why are we still dealing with the same sun vs. Glue problems that we have since they stopped doing stretch ceilings in the 70's?as an upholsterer at http://www.eastcoastautotoys.com i do make a good living off of this abomination but as a 2002 buick lesabre owner, i do not appreciate that i have had to remove my dashboard cover also called pad and have reglued and remolded it 3 times. Now it is curling up at the forward ends again as well as by the air bag.the front of the headliner is now falling loose and down at the front windshield area due to rotting foam, {just like like those of the 1980's}.the foam is deteriorating and turning to powder so there is nothing that can be done other than replace it with the same garbage or have an upholstery shop like mine replace the fabric on the existing board. After spending 45 minutes removing the ceiling from the car and then another hour removing all of the rotted foam.....why are we still dealing with the same sun vs. Glue problems that we have since they stopped doing stretch ceilings in the early 70's?as an upholsterer i do make a good living off of this abomination but as a 2002 buick lesabre owner, i do not appreciatewasting my time ...

While driving 30 mph vehicle was hit on driver side door, driver door was penetrated 8-10 inches. Driver side air bag did not deploy, driver front air bag deployed. Driver suffered bruised kidney and multiple injuries on left side of body. Vehicle was totalled. Tsmanufacturer not willing to do anything about side air bags.

This i have found out online is a common problem, when i purchased my car i had a few windows suddenly drop on me & i figured out the window motors in 2 were broken, however when they dropped i also found out electrical systems in my door were damaged from the window motor failure, so now on my driver's side door i have no mirror adjustment, no unlock/lock button for safety in dangerous areas i drive, some windows (had all 4 motors replaced at the same time) work & some don't from certain areas, i even found after i used my right rear window motor, the trunk popped open! so to fix the problem i personally had to disconnect the new window motor as well as the trunk. Also for comfort in heat my heated seat doesn't work from my driver door. My car runs perfect but this shouldn't have happened. This should have been recalled for owners long ago for 2000-2005 buick lesabres.

I was driving on the highway a few days before december 3, 2011, and i heard a loud "pop" sound from the back seat of my car. On the 3rd, i was driving along and started hearing the sound of an open window in the back seat. I tried to close the back-right window with the power window control on the driver's door, but it didn't move the window (i heard the motor running, though). I then parked the car and got out to try to pull/push the window shut, but it would not stay all the way up. It had started with just an inch or so being open, but eventually it slid down so it was only about halfway up.from what i've read online ( http://www.carcomplaints.com/buick/lesabre/2002/windows_windshield/window_regulator_broke.shtml ), this is a fairly common problem with this model of car, but buick is saying that there's not enough reports of this issue to declare a recall notice for the window regulator. I disagree. From what i've read, repairing a single window with this problem can cost up to $300 plus labor, and usually when one window goes bad, the others are soon to follow. I don't really feel like paying $1200 for windows in a car i only paid $5000 for used...

Both front and rear passenger windows failed to go up after put in the down position. Had to replace both widow regulator's at a cost of 450.00. Only 60,732 miles on the car.

After driving vehicle for about 1 hour, control buttons on steering wheel for cruise control and radio are very hot to be touched. Dealer stated manufacturer is aware of problem, but offers no solution. *yd

Rear door window right came down and will not go back up.cable broke.replaced regulator, rear dow window right bower r&r.part 15231244under extended warranty.if i had not purchased an extended warranty, this would have come out of my pocket.this is the fourth time they have replace parts for various windows in this car.another window is having intermittent problems the dealer could not duplicate, so it will problably go too.this is happening too often and an internet search show many lesabre owners are having similar problems multiple times.

Side airbags deployed - warming up at idle - in 4 degree f outside ambient air temperature - having been in high wind containing sandy dirt particles overnight - vehicle unoccupied - stationary in residence driveway.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.the contact stated that the instrument control panel has separated into two parts.the failure originally began near the driver's side and currently extends 20 inches to the passenger side of the panel.the dealer stated that the failure could be repaired, but they could not identify the cause of the failure.the manufacturer did not provide any assistance and the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact has pictures of the failed component.the failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 71,400.

I have had issues with my vehicle's oil leaking then burning/smoking off my car. This issue is on my engine's manifold & hasn't been recalled even though the same engine is recalled on other gm models. The engine on my lesabre is the same 3.8 liter v6 3800 engine that was recalled twice by gm in the past 6 years. My engine had minimal fire in the incidents i experienced but quite a bit of smoke from the area the oil leaks. Once i kill the engine the smoke stops. Gm wants to charge for a diagnostic check & wouldn't recognize the issue on the very same engine, viewing it as just a vehicle not recalled even if it has the same faulty part. It caused my car's catalytic converter to fail as it burned through. A fix is costly, so i went to my own independent mechanic to save myself money since gm does not want to take care of issues that they recalled. Below are the 2 recalls that should apply to my car & also the pontiac bonneville as well since they are both built on the same chassis, premise, & engine as the oldsmobile intrigue. Both lesabres & bonnevilles have the 3.8 v6 naturally aspirated 3800 engine that runs in the recalled intrigue.engine oil dripping on manifold may cause fire nthsa recall number: 15v701000 report received date: 10/26/2015 general motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 chevrolet lumina and oldsmobile intrigue, 1997-2004 buick regal and pontiac grand prix, 2000-2004 chevrolet impala, and 1998-2004 chevrolet monte carlo vehicles.engine compartment fire nthsa recall number: 09v116000 date owner notified by manufacturer: 04/09/2009 report received date: 04/08/2009 general motors is recalling 1,497,516 my 1997-2003 buick regal, my 1998-2003 chevrolet lumina, monte carlo and impala, my 1998-1999 oldsmobile intrigue, my 1997-2003 pontiac grand prix vehicles equipped with a 3.8l v6 naturally aspirated engine.

This is regarding recent replacement of both rear window regulators.research has proven that many complaints have been filed over the years with no recall. I would hope for financial help, $1000 to cover the cost of repairs, as the minimum response; and also, i hope for a recall to help the many others who have suffered great financial costs and safety.i have been directed by my father, [xxx], original and present owner of this 2002 buick, to help him be a responsible consumer/customer.my father of 88 years still believes in american made cars, especially in gm.he has been watching, like many americans, for a "come back"in the auto industry, especially the correction of problems that clearly has a large documentation of complaints as this one.i hope you will be able to honor his faithfulness in perhaps a small financial way, and perhaps even in a greater way through a recall.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dt*: the contact stated a whining noise was heard after the accelerator pedal was released and repressed. The dealership has been alerted.a representative from gm drove the vehicle on two separate occasions.the first time was may 2005 however the problem could not be duplicated.the vehicle was driven again june 14, 2006.the representative heard the noise however stated it was too faint.they will not correct the problem or make any repairs until the noise gets louder.the dealership and representative both believe the noise is coming from the automatic transmission.the contact is concerned a failure could occur as a result of the noise. 08/02/06 contacted requested that the serpentine belt be replaced; at times trac-off light comes on; and the gas cap loose light comes on.no codes found.

The battery went low.when trying to jump start the vehicle the consumer noticed the battery was not under the hood.a mechanic came to jump start the vehicle.it was discovered the battery was located under the rear seat cushion.

Dt*: the contact stated there was a battery leak under the back seat where the battery was located.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the vehicle was not taken to the service dealer.an independent mechanic determined that the battery acids had eaten the plate where the battery sat.updated 12/05/06.

Beginning about august of 2015 until now, oct 2015, the engine of my buick le sabre has begun to stop running while driving. When that occurs i lose my power steering and power brakes. Tonight (oct 7, 2015) it happened four times on the way home. I made it home safely fortunately but i will not drive the car again until it is fixed. Last week i had both a mobile mechanic and an auto shop (purcell) look at it and they can not diagnose the problem. They call it an intermittent defect. What i have experienced sounds exactly like the description of the experience of the automobiles that gm has recalled, although my year, make, and model are not on the list that i found on the internet. My experience is so similar that i want my ignition switch replaced by gm before i will drive the car again. Please advise. Thanks.

The 2002 buick lesabre has the same engine as the 2000 pontiac grand prix, which is covered in the recent recall 15v701.this recall covers oil leaking from the manifold onto the rest of the engine, leading to a risk of fire.the 2002 buick lesabre is, however, not officially covered in recall 15v701, even though mine definitely shows all the symptoms of the recall.i have already taken it to the shop once to try to correct the problem.i would like to see the 2002 buick lesabre covered under this recall.if not, please outline why.also, what is the exact fix for the other cars that are covered (because i would like to have that information when i take the car to the shop again to try to correct the issue; i again have oil leaking from the top of the engine)?

Engine stalls while driving. No warning.engine will restart, but will only run for a few seconds, then stalls and will not restart.no check engine lights or other indications that there is a problem.happens at high and low speeds. Car will restart and operate normally after sitting for a few hours, usually overnight.car has been towed 7 times for this problem. Dealer has replaced two ignition modules, and one crankshaft position sensor. Car has been at the dealer for this problem for a total of twelve weeks since initial occurrence, while the dealer tries to duplicate the problem.dealer most of the time cannot duplicate the problem.most recent occurrence, the car displayed the following codes: b1009 and b2734.mileage between incidents ranges from as high as 15,000 miles to 1,500 miles.car is undependable, and much more important, unsafe.

2002 buick lesabre 3.8 lengine would be hard to start after it was driven and restarted after 15 minutes (or more) of being off.the car sometimes has to wait for .5 hours before it will start. This happened a year ago also.i have checked the maf sensor.the car has also stalled while driving at low speeds.if i wait for 3 minutes to restart after stalling it will restart and usually go long distances 100 miles without failure.

Noticed lots of white smoke coming out tail pipe while driving. Very unusual. Car then stopped on freeway. Had to get pushed by another car to side if freeway. Towed car home to driveway. Tried to crank engine and heard real loud pop coming from under hood. Car did not turn on. Tried to start 5 more times but each time it just sounded like a real short crank type sound like as if engine is having a hard time turning. After fifth time, engine started and this time the smoke coming out tail pipe was white/bluish and lots of it. Engine stopped. Also noticed that all the coolant was gone from coolant container and there is a high burning smell of coolant coming from engine. This might be a cracked upper intake or lower intake. These are made of real cheap hard plastic which could be the primary reason of engine failure. Car is now parked in my backyard.

Upon starting the vehicle engine turns over approximately 3 times before the vehicle starts. This failure has almost caused an accident while attempting to merge onto a highway.dealershipran an diagnostic test in which no failure code was found, although the failure occurred 3 times .

Routine service revealed that i have an antifreeze leak in the manifold area.

I have been told by two mechanics that i need to change my antifreeze from dex-cool to ethylen glycol, as the dexcoolant is dirty and sugary and i am looking at electrolisis problems in my cooling system if i don't change it. Why would a reputable company like buick put an inferior product in their vehicle?is there a class action suit being filed against dex coolant?.

When i accidentally ( with out my knowing that i had bumped the parking light switch) bumped the parking light switch while adjusting the dash lights while driving after dark the head lights went out, i had no idea why the head lights went out. It was a good thing that i was only driving about 5 to 10 mile per hour and was able to stop with out an accident. It took me a while to figure out why the head lights had gone out, i pushed all the light switches until finding out that i had accidentally pushed the parking light switch. I notifiedbuick customer service and they said that there was nothing wrong with the lights, that the head lights were designed to go out when the parking light switch was pushed. They refused to take any action of any kind what so ever. If your head lights go when driving 65 mph after dark, that it is aserious safety problem.

Gas pedal sticks at idle position. This is not a problem in neutral but if in drive causes a sudden vehicle acceleration. This is very dangerous.

Was driving and as i pulled to redlight vehicle smelled of gas but burst into flames from the motor

I found out that this gas line leakage issue exist in everyone that i know with this model vehicle. There is a fuel line clip that can be replaced. The clip is inserted at the end of the fuel line that connects to the engine but this clip doesn't last very long once replaced. Eventually the clip won't work anymore as if it is the fuel line itself that is bad. This issues seems to be a defect in this model buick and is dangerous. I'm just wondering how can such an issue never been on the buick recall list for this model car. Most people that have this car say that they have smelled the gas fumes and didn't know what it was. The gas actually leaks/ drip from the fuel line's clip onto the hot engine. ( can you say very dangerous) this is a lawsuit waiting to happen!

The approximate incident date .would not let me put date in .date was july23'2014.my car has been stalling out on me when i was driving down the highway it stalled put in neutral started right up drove alittle ways samething happend.checkenginelight came on got stuck on highway for 3 hours waiting for towtruck bad experience.it is at sullivan tire check diagnosticsand said everything is all right i told him to take it for a spin he did and stalled out on him.sullivantire is boggled.i was on line andwas checking what the problem could be and there is about 10 people that own the same car has same problem we tried getting it fixed its starting to cost some money trying to fix it. -the contact stated that while driving his 2002 buick le sabre (failure mileage: 60000) at 25 mph the vehicle began to hesitate.when applying the accelerator the vehicle hesitates and didn't seem to increase speed. Updated 02/16/07.

While driving at any speed and when shiftingdownto a low speed vehiclemade clunky noise. Dealer has inspectedtransmission four times, and still problem recurring.

While driving my daughter to a school event on a busy highway, my 2002 buick le sabre's speed started slowing down. Pressing the gas pedal did not speed up the car. Realizing that something was not right, i panicked but was able to steer the car through traffic and finally stall atan exit ramp. I tried to restart the car again but it did not want to start.my first thought was that the car was out of gas even though the fuel gage showed the car did have gas. Thinking that the problem was still a gas issue, i called a friend to bring some gas. After a 45 minute wait i poured two gallons into the fuel tank. At this time i restarted the car but when trying to shift, the shifter felt very loose and was not catching any gears. The shifter would just fall through. After trying two more times the car still failed to move in either direction.i had no choice but to have the car towed to a local transmission shop. At the repair shop, i was told that the transmission had an internalmechanical failure. I mentioned to the shop mechanic that there was never any type of indication that something was wrong with the transmission. Everything car was working fine before the transmission failed. I am very concerned about the transmission failure because it occurred on a busy highway and i strongly believe that it could have turned into a life and death issue. In researching this type of transmission model #4t65e for my lesabre, i noticed numerousmechanical failure complaints for the same type of transmission and that many failures have occurred before the car is three years old. Even the shop technician was surprised to hear thatthe transmission failed on a fairly new two year old car.the car has only 50000 miles on it.i strongly suggest that there be a recall for this type of transmission failure before a serious injury or death occurs.i do not want my family to become a statistic. Please let me know soon as to what needs to be done to remedy my situation.

My 2002 buick lesabre is in the shop at this moment getting a very expensive repair due to the failure of the intake system due to the use of the recommended fluids. What can i do, what have you done, and why hasn't a class action suit been started to rectify this abominable situation? thank you.dr. Gerald m. Levitt.

While driving, the consumer noticed the vehicle would not gain any speed when the accelerator was applied. The vehicle would jerk into gear or perform erratically. Please provide details.

When we first bought my buick back in 2002 we have had tranny problems with noises and hesitation. We took it back to the dealership and they replaced the valvebody. That didn't help the noise but it helped the hesitation. The noise is a whining noise in first and second gear but when you get in third it goes away. That is due to a bad sun gear. Which ultimately led to the destruction of my transmission. We tried to get the dealership to help us but they just said it was due to normal wear and tear (typical dealer doesn't want to take responsibility). After $3200 and 4 days we had a new tranny.i drove it for 3 days and the whining noise came back. I am going to take it back and tell the to fix it because i don't feel like paying $3200 for another tranny.

Dt:2002 buick lesabre.the contact complained about an abs brake problem.contactedthe dealership and the manufacturer, and they said there wereno recalls. Could notapply brakes at low speedbecause the brake pedal was very hard to push.the abs lightca me on and stayed on until the contact tookthevehicle to dealership and had repairs done. The repair seemed to be satisfactory.ha d no h accidents due to the brakes.

The anti lock brake light illuminated, and the brakes failed, which caused the consumer to drive into a ditch. The dealer stated the brakes had froze, due to ice build up.

A thin coat of ice covered the brake pads and rotors which caused the anti-lock brake system (abs) light to illuminate and the brakes to fail.

When the consumer applied the brakes, the pedal made a loud noise.*nlmthree buick dealers stated the problem was the disc brakes.

Dt: the consumer stated that the 2002 buick lesabre was having brake problems. If the road was wet the consumer hadto push on the brakes three times to get the vehicle to stop. The consumer took thecar back to the dealershipthree times. The problem was when the weather condition was bad/wet weather.. The salesman drove the car once when it was wet, but the dealer said nothing was wrong. The consumer contacted gm and the bbb. Gm sent a letter back to the consumer. The consumerclaimed that the heat did not work in the fall. The heat will go for 3 or 4 days and not work , and then it will. .the consumer believed the pdas were faulty.

Thanks.

Trip check showed:fuel leak under engine cover, front wheel drive shaft oil leaking fluid, power steering leaking fluid. Air bag light came on after the horn was hit hard, afterabout 20 minutes it went of, technician couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Vibration: driving at any speed caused vibration with less than 30,000 miles on my 2002 buick lasabre. Found that tie rods were worn and needed to be replaced. This vehicle was driven only on main roads and had never been in an accident involving the front end.

While driving the consumer heard a rumbling noise. The noise gradually got worse as time progressed. The noise was caused by the tie rod ends being worn. The cause of the worn tie rod ends is yet to be determined. *nlmconsumer heard an unusual noise coming from the front of the vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to conklin cars and they replaced the tie rod ends.*mr

The consumer stated that the vehicle was misaligned. The dealer could not find anything wrong with this vehicle but the consumer believes the rack and pinion could be the possible cause.

The dashpad on my 2002 buick lesabre has pulled loose at the base and is bunched up in front of the steering wheel.i have tried without success to glue the pad back down myself because of the angle of the windshield.i have read blog posts from several 2000-2005 lesabre owners who are experiencing the same problem, so i now realize that this is not the isolated problem i had thought it was.i am concerned that if the dashpad continues to pull loose, the airbag sensors could be triggered and cause the airbags to inflate while the car is being driven.my wife drives this car most of the time, and since she is only 5 feet tall, she must move the seat up almost as far as it will go.my teenage daughter rides in the front passenger seat when my wife takes her to school.i am concerned for their safety should the airbags accidentally deploy due to the dashpad coming loose.

The dash is starting to rise.i have not made any repairs.

The dashboard is coming up right behind the steering wheel column. It is starting to go across to the passenger side. A quick internet search reveals this to be a widespread problem with this model vehicle. The situation requires attention due to the fact that it could deploy the passenger side airbag. Looking for gm to take responsibility on a now known defect and safety situation. Also noted that visibility is reduced to the driver with the dash coming up and rising.

The dash board is buckling up, we are afraid it may cause the air bags to activate causing injury or death if it causes an wreck.

Dash board separation from left to right towards passenger side airbag. Dealer & auto body shop offer no fix.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the eight inch dashboard panel became separated from the windshield. The panel separation originated from the driver side near the air bag window and continued to extend toward the passenger side. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed concern of the potential air bag safety hazard. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000. Updated 8/29/11 upadted 10/11//11

Ltr addressed to the potus re defective parts on his 2002 buick lesabre custom, inquiring what can the government do through gm to properly compensate him; for the administrators signature.all four of the window regulators had to be replaced, the sealantholding the cover to the dashboard came apart, which caused a large gap near the base of the windshield on the drivers side.

The dashboard pulled away from the front windshield approx. 3/4" and now is getting wider to about 2" and is extending from the driver's side into the passenger area. We are afraid that dust will get in there and make gauges malfunction, and the air bags deploy unnecessarily. It also looks aesthetically bad as the rest of the interior is fine.

1.dashboard separating from windshield and causing 3" gap causingpartial obstruction.now is separating more at drivers' side near steering wheel, and about 75% pulled away at this time.critical safety problem because air bags maydeploy and injury or death could occur.cannot fix easily and consider it critical defect and inferior workmanship.not able to safely drive the car or able to sell it! 2.electric windows in back passenger and driver side had to be replaced.$$3.light switch control malfunctions and recently stuck in the "on"position. Had to disconnect battery to turn off.this just happened last night and was inconvenienced greatly !! 4.headliner falling down and was repaired twice.now is falling down where it was not repaired!

The padded dash has peeled up and away from dash frame in front of the steering wheel.it is continuing to spread (peel up and away from the frame) across the padded dash from left to right, towards the passenger area.it continues to grow in severity, and i am concerned about the passenger airbag, with respects to it deploying without warning, due to the peeling/warping of the dash around it.i have put a dash mat (cover) over the problem for appearance purposes, but even that doesn't hide the growing magnitude of the problem anymore.i have been told that it will cost me anywhere from $350 - $1,200.00 to correct this problem from independent repair shops in the area, to the gm buick dealer.this is a design flaw, & "safety" issue direct from the manufacturer.other than this ever increasing problem, the car is in immaculate condition, & i would like to keep it due to its mechanical reliability, fuel economy, & comfort.i believe an oem padded dash replacement, should be made a recall on the part of gm as this has not happened due to negligence, age of the vehicle (it began when the car was relatively new), or accident.i respectfully look forward to receiving a response from you.

The dash in my 2002 buick lesabre is coming up and i am afraid that one day i will be going somewhere and be in even a little fender bender or maybe not nothing at all and it will come on off .it is like the glue they used to mold it down has come undone or something like that .i bought the car used last june this started like right after i bought it and it just keeps getting worse all the time and now i am getting really worried someone will get hurt if it continues to come a loose .so it could cause serious injury or maybe even death to someone with the extra pieces coming up like that .the corner down next to the glove compartment is also starting to stick some also so it would probable not be a good idea for someone to let their small children or maybe even an adult to sit in the front seat on the passenger side of the vehicle i think that the dash could be harmful to anyone even the driver if anyone elses starts to stick up like mine does .the thought that it could be something that mightneed to be investigated so hopeful nobody will not lose their life in an accident. The dashboard on the vehicle started buckling at least 5 years ago. The buckling is severe and extends across the entire dash. The windows have also broken. I have had three of them repaired and one is still broken.

Dashmat on 2002 buick lasabre buckling above streering wheel where dashmat meets window.

The dash panel pad is buckling and pulling loose.i am concerned the passenger airbag will deploy.

Dash pad coming loose, bowing up in front of driver, becoming detached in crucial area at passenger side airbag. To repair will cost around $950 parts and labor. Also window regulators have been replaced in windows that are used the least.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.the contact stated the dashboard exhibited a large fracture toward the passenger side air bag. The contact did not take the vehicle to the manufacturer or dealer.the contact was concerned of the possibility of the air bag deploying because of the dashboard fracture.the failure mileage was 75,000.

In 2008 i was driving down the highway and dashboard popped up and i was unable to see the road. Thank god i was able to look out the side window and pull the vehicle off to the side of the highway i was driving, if i had not been in the right hand lane i would have had to stop the car in highway traffic and wait for a tow truck. Buick has refused to acknowledge the problem or offer help with the dashboard warping till it pops up and blinds the driver. I am sure it would affect the deployment of the airbags as well. This is a huge issue with many owners having the same problems and buick just looks the other way.

The dash-cover has bubbled up in the front, causing a slight visibility problem but what i'm more worried about is that as this spreads the airbags may deploy. It is also a very noticeable appearance issue.

Dash pad cover peeling away from dash pad base.causing great issues with resale of vehicle reducing the value significantly.manufacturing defect as i have seen a great many 2000-2005 lesabre with this issue including my other 2000 model year lesabre limited.a senior executive needs to deal with this issue and make the decision to replace the defective dash pads.whoever designed, tested or manufactured these panels made a gross error and it is costing buick's quality first repetition and customer service/care to be highly tarnished.i will move away from the buick brand loyalty that i have due to this costly defect.

The dash cover has separated from the front near the windshield.noticed everyone on car lots near this year also have the same problem.this is obviously a flaw in the product, please help. I've been told that if it continues across to right side the air bag will deploy.

My 2002 buick le sabre dashboard is peeling up & out along inside front window, also under radio and air bag, no dealer can fix it or auto repair shop. Afraid air bag is going to open up on passenger side...dash is opening under it.

2002 lesabre with a popped dashboard between steering wheel and front glass. The dashboard has bubbled up.cannot force the dash back into position.i'm afraid it will cause the air bags to deploy. Sounds like a design problem to me or it's made of faulty material and needs to be recalled and replaced.

When i bought this car on nov. 1, 2013, the dashboard pad was already buckling. What can be done about this?this car only has 30000 miles on it.i am concerned about the safety of anyone riding in the front seat.

Dash pad began separating from dashboard at base of windshield directly in front of instrument cluster when car was approximately 4 years old.has progressively spread to currently include about 70% of width of dashboard and is raised approximately 3 inches in front of instrument cluster.appears to be an issue of shrinkage/improper adhesion due to inferior materials and/or incorrect factory installation.online search indicates that this problem afflicts a disproportionate number of 2000-2006 lesabres.concerned that if passenger side airbag were to deploy dash pad would not tear as intended but would instead be pulled from dashboard and would strike occupants.firm molded edge could cause serious lacerations or potential fatalities.many owners have requested repair, some under warranty, with no satisfaction from buick.

Dashboard material appears to be faulty, and dashboard is now raised in the air on drivers side (near windshield), partially obstructing view. If the complete dashboard comes loose and separates, this may fully block view resulting in possible accident. Internet search reveals this is a chronic problem on these vehicles.

The dash of our 2002 lasabre between the steering wheel and the windshield has pulled apart and is becoming an obstruction to our view.the separation is about an inch and is beginning to lift up. Also the drivers side dash where the air bag is located is starting to bulge from the dash and could be presenting a safety hazard if it continues to extend out farther.

The padded dash peeled up away from the dash frame in front of steering wheel. It is peeling across from left to right. I am concerned about air bag deploying without warning. G.m. When this vehicle is parked forward on a slight incline the trunk lid bounces, when opened by the remote. Both my wife and myself have been hit on the head, i received a slight laceration. This is a dangerous situation. Someone can get a concussion. We have gone through all of buick's channels of complaint.

The consumer stated that the trunk lid had a tendency to swing up and down when opened.on one occasion the lid came down and hit the consumers glasses and gave her a black eye.thedealer replaced the torsion bar.

The trunk lid collapsed on two occasions while on an incline, and caused injury to the consumer and his wife. *scc

The dashboard cover separated from the dashboard on my 2002 buick lesabre limited. Eventually, the cover will separate enough to block the driver's view from the driver's seat. This has the potential to result in a serious automobile crash that could result in death or injury to the driver and passengers and the driver and passengers in the vehicle that is struck in an incident. A safety recall is needed so that buick will recall models that are effected and thus avoid a serious crash.

2002 buick lesabre. Vin [xxx]. Vibration in steering wheel, floor, and hard surfaces of interior, at speeds starting at 60 mph. The tires have been replaced twice. Redesigned upper control were installed. None of these have corrected the problem. On 7/25/2003 the buick service conducted a roar test with an electronic vibration analyzer and found readings of 02 to 03 hertz. The "standard" should be below 07. Why would they do all the previous work if they could of done this test earlier and saved a lot of money. I believe they made this standard to avoid fixing the problem. The dashboard is separating or peeling apart.it started a year ago, it was about 12 inches wide, now it has separated all the way to the passenger side of the dash and sicks up into my view about 5-6 inches.it is my understanding that this can cause the airbag to deploy for no reason on the passenger side.this problem is causing my car to be unsafe to drive.it is obstructing my view and could be lethal to the passenger.it is an obvious defect due to poor engineering and should be recalled immediately.

The repair shop where i take my car says they have seen many lesabres with the same problem.gm doesn't seem to feel there is a problem.i know this because i have written and called them several times about my concerns.just wish they would have to be held accountable for their poor engineering.

Consumer requesting information on recalls for a 2002 buick lesabre.

There is a reflection from the defroster vent on the dashboard which is very blinding to consumer. Took vehicle to dealer, but problem still exists.

The dashboard cover has come loose and has left a 3 inch gap near the center of the windshield. An internet search reveals that there are hundreds of buick le sabres with the same defect. I saw 3 similar defects in my own retirementcommunity on similar cars. This defect could also cause a release of the air bag which presents a serious safety hazard. Buick should be required to recall my car and replace the cover. This is clearly a product defect. I have been driving more than 60 years and have never seen a dashboard cover come loose.

The consumer states that the sun shines upon the light gray dashboard, the dash board reflects up into the windshield reducing the visibility by an estimated 30 percent.the consumer has placed a black cloth on the dash to improve the visibilty and feels that the solution to this problem is simple and inexpensive; make the dash board flat black.*scc

Gas pedal sticks at idle position. This is not a problem in neutral but if in drive causes a sudden vehicle acceleration. This is very dangerous.

Set cruise control car took of wide open would not shut off had to turn key off to get it to stop.

2002 buick lesabre.consumer writes in regards to vehicle surgesforward when brakes are applied.the consumer also stated the vehicle had defective drums, that melted and severed the front brake wiring, exactly at the point when the brake system wires traveled from the engine and entered the brake drums. The consumer also stated the vehicle had poor gas mileage, the three out of the four windows collapsed in the down position, and would not come back up. The consumer believed the engine and the hood were defective, as the paint on the hood melted.

Accelerator pedal requires excessive amount of force to depress the pedal. This results in a noticeable surge when going forward from a stopped position. It almost feels as if there is spring holding the throttle open and there is a break point at which the spring lets loose before the throttle opens. A visual inspection of the throttle and throttle body did not reveal any obstructions or binding cable. The floor mats are not a factor in this problem. Problem is most noticeable after the car has been started and placed in the drive position. This problem has persisted for the past several years and is the same in both winter and summer. I have just learned to live with it and expect a slight jolt when moving forward but i have been unable to find the root cause and i worry whenever someone else drives my car. This surge is noticeable to passengers also.

In a small town, approaching a stop sign at the highway crossroad with 2-3 vehicles in front of me. I removed my foot from the accelerator and started braking. The engine immediately revved, i moved my foot to try to raise the accelerator and it was all the way to the floor; it would not raise. I immediately placed in neutral and as pulling as close to curb as possible, i shut the ignition off, then placed in park. It had to be towed back home until we can deal with it. Luckily, i was able to act quickly enough to prevent any damage to any other vehicle or person.

Drivers side back window, fell down. To get repaired would be $458. So window was blocked up with 4 pieces of wood by the dealership. This is a couple in their late 70's & 80. In the wintertime. Alot of complaints on line of this same problem.

I also have experienced window regulator failure, passenger front side went down and that?s where it stayed. A search on the internet has proven out that this is a major problem on buicks of this era as well as other models using the regulator mechanisms from the supplier to gm. My bill ended up over 500 dollars for repair at a gm dealership. This is a major problem, verified by one of their mechanics. I called gm customer satisfaction department and spoke with a gentleman who also verified it is a major problem, but gm will not stand behind them after expiration of the warranty. I love this car but am seriously considering trading as i am fearful of what the future holds with the other windows after researching the problem.

Electric window mechanism has failed on both rear windows.failure occured while lowering the window with the up/down switch located on the door. Both windows failed when they were aproxiately 3/4 of the way down.the windows were each operated only a couple of times before failure.the right rear was the first to fail.was repaired at official buick dealership by replacing entire mechanism at a cost of $666.00.left rear failed next, and has not yet been repaired.

Rear passenger window dropped down by itself for no reason while driving. It had not been used since the driver side window also dropped down and was repaired 2 years ago. We had not used the rear windows on purpose because it is a known window regulator defect which no one has recalled. However, the window fell by itself anyway. The 3 or 4 inch gap of open space is now taped over, but it is unsecured and could easily break. I am not going to pay the $500 it takes to get it fixed. Nhtsa should force a recall for this common recurring defect which is unsafe and expensive to repair.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.the contact stated that the front passenger side window has failed twice.both rear windows also failed.the front passenger side window regulator was replaced in september of 2008.a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that they would not assist with the repair because the vehicle was out of warranty.the failure mileage was 22,000 and current mileage was 26,000.

I have 2002 buck lasabre, custom; only 22,000 miles.only iuse the car , it looks like new.asking direction, i opened right front window. But i was unable to close it. Iopenfront windows only in rare cases - to ask something; maybe 10-15 times since 2002. During the night the car remained open andsomeone took sportive shoes and about $12that i forgot to take home. Next day i came to buick auto shop (the dealership where i bought the car in 2002) and i was told that this was window regulator and it would cost $760.i am a retiree and can't pay such amount. I open a part of the door and found out that the reason was a defected cam. I needed 3 small parts ( an upper front cam, wheel(both from plastic) and a guide (from metal) that fixthe cam and wheel to the frame. All these parts should cost only several dollars but nobody gave me their numbers. I was told that it is impossible to order them.on the internet i found many similar complaints. As if the company deliberately put defected parts that can be easily changed but only by gm employees ( a customer leaves unnecessary defected unit) and sold again as new.

Regarding my 2002 buick la sabre, limited edition i am in ottawa canada - the window regulators on this car are all faulty and i have heard this same complaint from countless other owners of this model. I bought this car august 2002 in good faith and did not expect this kind of trouble. When i first bought this car the front and back windows started having issues in putting the windows back up after being opened. After many investigations in oleans , canada the dealer came to the conclusion that it was the window regulators and it would cost me $400 to replace just one window regulator alone this complaint has been going on ever since i bought this car and it is well know in the car industry that this particular 2002 buick la sabre, ltd edition has had a lot of problems mainly in this area (regulators) but gm is avoiding any recalls on this and to me this is totally irresponsible on gm's part not to do a recall on these regulators, it is actually a complete avoidance of there responsible, they have just been totally derelict in their duty as a manufacturer and just letting the customer take the full financial brunt of gms ineptness to supply quality parts in their window mechanisms,,,,,,,,,,, namely the cheap regulators! will anyone do anything about this irresponsible and troublesome safety issue???????????????????

I bought a 2002 buick lesabre limited early in 2007, by summertime the passenger window, and both rear windows fell without being used, i bought a replacement window motor and now they are working ok, the front driver side window has difficulty going up and down, i replaced the window motor and it is still having difficulty, though this time it is due to the window track being dry.this window problem should be recalled, many other lesabre owners experience the same problem.all 4 window motors have been replaced in 2008 and for over a year i was driving a car with no working windows, this may not appear like a problem that would lead to death or injury, but what would happen if somehow there is a fire in the car and you need to pull down your windows, or during the winter your window gets foggy and you need to pull it down to be able to see, while i understand that you can warm up the car before driving, a window can get foggy very quickly when the temperature is below 40 degrees and pulling down a window to be able to see to make a turn safely could be a life saving event.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated that while driving, the windows would fall into the door panel suddenly and intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was found that the window regulator motor had fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The current mileage was approximately 62,000.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated that while parked, the rear driver's side window dropped into the door panel without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the window regulator would have to be replaced. The window regulator was replaced however, the failure recurred on the front and rear passenger's side windows. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

Blower motor failed rendering the front window defroster useless. The local garage i took it to said that this was the third such failure they've seen.they attempted to replace the unit but ran into a problem because of a design change in the replacement blower.they took the car to a gm dealer that was able to ,after a considerable amount of time, install the replacement blower.i was pleased until i received the invoice which included the charge for labor of $488.00.i'm waiting for a return phone call from gm as towhether or not they'll reimburse any of this cost.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.while driving 30 mph, the rear passenger side window dropped and would not roll back up.there were no prior warning indicators.the window had not been previously tampered with before the failure occurred.the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 47,000.

While driving window passenger side fell down and could not be brought up.

The dashboard on the vehicle started buckling at least 5 years ago. The buckling is severe and extends across the entire dash. The windows have also broken. I have had three of them repaired and one is still broken.

Rear power window failed to go back up when lowered while driving. There was no warning or indication that there was a problem until it stopped working. 2002 buick, lesabre, has only 34,000 miles, butwas no longer under warranty. The rear power window had only been lowered 10-12 times since purchased brand new, as i hardly ever had rear seat passengers. Based on symptoms and researchit appearedto be a defective power window regulator. Based on internet complaints this appearedto be a chronic problem with buicks. In fact, when i called the local buick dealer for a cost estimate , about $500,they said that they had just fixed o another lesabre that day! also, theysuggested it was likely the window regulator based on my brief description. However, they said there was no recall on that recurring failure, and i would have to pay full price.i have been driving with the rear window held up with black duct tape, but it does not hold that well. I is obviously not a fix, but i refuse to pay $500 to fix something that has only been used about a dozen times, is a known defect and has the probability of breaking again after another dozen uses based on what i have read.

Right front power window regulator failure, due to defective plastic cable guide located at the top of the regulator. Right front window failed, fell down inside the door and could not be raised. This happened august 2006 aprox. Next the right rear window regulator failed about 3 months later. Then the left rear window regulator failed. All 3 windows had the exact same problem, a plastic guide at the top of the regulator is guiding a metal cable unto a plastic winding spool, when the guide breaks the cable becomes tangled on the spool and can not be raised. I paid for and replaced the window regulator right front before the other 2 windows failed. I filed a complaint with general motors, their response after many phone calls they agreed to pay for the part only. I don't have the bill for the regulator in front of me but the cost was about $ 318.00 they refused to pay for the defective rear window regulators repair. I was told to have the vehicle repaired at my expense then file a new claim and wait for their answer. I have propped both rear windows shut with a piece of wood, they can no longer be lowered. This is a safety issue, please investigate.

Power window dropped or fell into door and broke after failure of regulator or track.this is the third such incident on the same vehicle in approximately 12 months, but involved a different window each time.each repair cost approximately $500.both manufacturer and dealer claim it has not received an unusual number of complaints, but manufacturer has released at least one technical service bulletin on this problem (tsb #3483, nhtsa id #10017398).

Window falls into the door without input from driver or passenger. This is a very common problem with buick lesabre cars and should be covered by gm as a design defect.

Power window regulators continue to fail.if not fixed properly could cause damage to individuals and vehicle.failure is very common and due to a manufacturers defect in design.

Window regulators are very prone to fail.three have failed on my car, and one has been replaced twice.this is a very common problem on several gm cars.the window can fall open and will not close which could be dangerous in inclement weather.this is also expensive and a financial hardship on owners and should have been addressed some time ago.

Window motors on all windows in the vehicle have been replaced multiple times. If a crash had occurred i would be unable to open window to escape if unable to open door. Talked to buick and they refuse to acknowledge the problems with the window motors, i have been in contact with other buick lesabre owners (at least 100) and they have had the same issues with the window motors failing and needing replacement multiple times with a few owners stating being unable to exit the vehicle after a crash because they could not open the vehicle windows. Again buick has not offered any help in this matter nor have they even acknowledged there was a problem.

Just replaced my first window regulator in my 2002 buick lesabre. The dealer wanted to charge $500+ but after arguing about it being such a widespread issue, they did agree to do it for the labor cost ($140). But i know that won't work for the future repairs and if the postings on the web sites are any indicator, the next one could happen any day now. I am afraid to use the window! but i now know to carry duct tape in the car. Buick has quite a deal going - install cheap plastic parts and charge consumers $500 a pop to fix them with the same cheap plastic part.

I lowered the windows and when i went to raise the rear-passenger there was a "crack" noise and it would not go back up. The plastic part, at the top of the window regulator, had broken - causing the wire, which runs through the regulator, moving the window up and down, to just coil up inside the door panel. I went to a dealership to have them quote me the cost of repairing and was eventually told the repair would run me ~$700.i was told that the part alone was ~$400.i didn't have them fix it... Because i was expecting a ~$75 repair... Not ~$700!i taped up the window (which i hate being "that car") and decided to get another quote.at the time i was incredibly busy with work and didn't get around to it though.roughly a month later the exact same thing happened to my front-passenger window.i now have both passenger side windows held up by tape.i cannot believe there is no recall for this.i have tried looking for a place to submit problems with cars to buick directly, but have been told to only go to a dealership and tell them.... And i've already been to a dealership with this problem and no luck.i have taken my door panel off to try and fix myself and was very surprised that the problem was just that the top part of the regulator, which is basically just a track for the wire to run in as the window goes up and down, was cheap plastic.the rest of the regulator is steal, and the part that has all the tension from the wire running over it, is plastic.ridiculous.

On june 18, 2007, i heard a loud noise from the back of the car. I had no idea what it was until i got home and noticed the rear right window was open. I tried to close it but it would not close. I brought it to my mechanic and he said it was the regulator/motor that broke. He said that it was common in buicks because the parts are made of plastic. Today it happened again, this time to the left rear window. Slight popping noise and the window slid down and i couldn't get it back up. I was alone both times and no one ever rides in the back. I think i may have opened those windows less than a dozen times. I only have 11,000 miles on the car and can't believe that this has happened.

I just noticed my rear passenger side window was down. I never use the rear windows. I could not raise it with the power button. My front passenger window will not respond to the controls at all. My cruise control switch went out with less than 30,000 miles. The repair shop has had several of these and internet message boards were amazing. Some people reported as many as 3 separate occurrences of window failure( or window regulator failure).jb

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact started the ignition and the front passenger window abruptly released in a downward position without assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the window regulator was replaced. Recently, the rear driver window exhibited the similar failure as the front passenger window. The power window regulator on my 2002 buick lesabre have failed three times. The first was the driver side window which was replaced by the dealer for $550.00. Several days later the passenger side window failed. This was fixed by me after doing some reseach on how to repair this item. Now the same window has broke again and i will fix it again, but in doing more research i have come across a site on the internet that has numerous complaints about this window regulator assembly in the buick lesabre and i feel that i should file my complaint becaue this is obviously a design/manufacturing defect from gmc.

Both rear passengers car window regulators broke and the windows fell down with in 2 days of each other.

Dt*: the contact stated the driver's side rear power window would not go up or down.an independent mechanic determined the regulator and motor were bad.

I have a 2002 buick lesabre with just over 23,000 miles and after closing the door the power window behind the driver's seat, had dropped down and would not go up. I retrieved a web site below with numerous others that have experienced the same problem.(see below) could you see that the manufacturer of this power assembly issue a recall for this faulty workmanship. Purchased at sharpe buick dealership 1010 28th st. S.e. Grand rapids, mi. 49508 in year 2002 with 6,000 miles on odometer. Both front and rear passenger windows failed to go up after put in the down position. Had to replace both widow regulator's at a cost of 450.00. Only 60,732 miles on the car.

2002 buick lesabre. Letter on behalf of constituent, expressing concern about the regulator that controls the window glass. The rear door regulator on the drivers side failed.the consumer stated in september 2007, the regulator on the rear passenger door failed.

Window regulators on both rear windows have gone out on my buick lesabre.. Windows never used as no passengers in my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.on two different occasions, the front driver side window and then the rear driver side window came down and would not go back up.both were repaired by gm.the rear passenger side window rolled down in november of 2007 and would not go back up.the contact was informed that the repair was her responsibility.gm wanted $673 for the repairs.the current mileage was 43,000 and failure mileage was 26,149.updated 01/24/08 updated 01/24/08

Dt*: the contact stated the passenger side power window would not go up.the dealership determined that the regulator was bad and this was a common problem with these vehicles.the dealership replaced the regulator. The contact was provided the old part.there was concern expressed that the other power windows will also fail.

I own a 2002 lesabre and in the last six months i have had (3) of my window regulators to break. First was the passenger window in the front and two weeks ago the one in the back on the passengerside broke and today 08/21/2007 the one behind the driver broke while i was driving on the highway.

Dt:the rear passenger's side window brokeinside the door on july 13,2005. The rear driver's window brokeon september 12, 2005. Contacted the dealer, they were going to chargethe consumer for repairs.there was nowarning when this happened.

General motors cars:(a) 2001 oldsmobile aurora, with 55,000 miles & (b) 2002 buick lesabre, with 62,000 miles1.in june 2006, within 2 weeks of one another, both rear power windows on car ajust dropped.repair and replacement cost about $500 for each window.old parts are not available.2.last night (2/18/2007), in 28 degree weather, we got into car b to return home and when we shut the doors, both right side windows dropped.it was frigid and i put a blanket up to keep the cold out.this blocked my view of the left side of the vehicle and i almost hit a pedestrian.i will take the car to a dealership for repairs and replacement which will undoubtedly cost over $1000.in both cases, i engage the child door locks and window control to prevent children from opening or falling out of the window.when the rear window falls as it did, children are in danger.while researching this problem on the internet, i have discovered that this has been a problem for buick since 2000.why has the problem persisted for over many years, until the 2002 model year and beyond!?this problem demands a recall!

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.she noticed that both rear windows had fallen inside of the door. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealer for inspection. The same failure occurred on the front passenger-side window. The current and failure mileages were 42000.updated 1/28/10 the fuel pressure regulator was leaking. The manifold was cracked and had to be replaced as well as the crankshaft sensor. Updated 02/03/10.

2002 buick lasabre.window regulator failure.i have not replaced it yet.the motor works fine, it is the plastic regulator that fails.i have been unable to purchase just the regulator without the motor.appears to be a very high number of these failures, yet buick refuses to recall the part or supply the part minus the motor, which would cost significantly less than the current price of $400.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.while driving at an unknown speed, the front driver side electrical window came down approximately one inch.the contact pressed the button to raise the window and it dropped.approximately five months later, the passenger side rear window does not operate at all.six months later, the rear driver side window stopped operating as well.the current mileage was 45,000 and failure mileage was 40,000.updated 04/03/08.*lj

Power window regulator failure.

Jan 2007 - front driver side window fell down in door while rolling down to pay airport toll - window motor replaced ~$500oct 2007 - rear driver side window fell into door while car was parked - window motor replaced ~$500dec 2007 - rear passenger side window fell into door while driving in 25 m.p.h. Zone - being repaired.

I own a 2002 buick le sabre.i have a broken rear window regulator on the right side rear.it is stuck in the down position.i am awaiting aftermarket part to repair myself since on-line information indicates this is a very prevalent problem, and quite expensive (>$500) to repair at the dealer or in a body shop.there are numerous reports of problems with buick regulators, and it seems nobody has addressed the problem: not buick not nhtsa.there should be a recall, and there should be compensation for repairs people have been forced to pay out of their pocket.i own 2 buicks at this time, and will probably never buy another.

2002 buick lesabre - powered rear window regulator failure 2x.

Three of my windows on my 2002 buick lasabre limited have all failed.the window has detached from the motor, it seems.apparently this is a common problem with these cars, yet no recall to fix it is offered.i cannot open these windows because i would be driving around without being able to get them back up.the cost to fix this is about $200 - $400.not only should i not have to pay to fix an obvious problem, but i do not have the money to do so.i am amazed that there is no recall for this.

Dt:the contact stated the passenger front window controls were inoperable and the dealer replaced the regulator.the problem has occurred in the rear driver side window.the dealer has been alerted.

The power windows on my 2002 buick lesabre keep breaking. Both back windows have failed and the driver's side window recently failed. A regulator in the power window fails and the window retracts/slams into the door permanantly. This is very startling when it happens on the road and nearly caused me to wreck the car.

Both rear power windows failed operation in down position. Dealer stated this was common and would cost owner $1000 to fix both windows. Owners are retired on fixed income with no passengers in read seating. Rear windows rarely operated.

I own two buick lesabre's, one is from 2000 and the other is from 2002. Both vehicles have or are under 50,000 miles. The windows have stopped working in three of the 2000 model and two of the windows in the 2002 model no longer work. The failures have occurred within 1-7 days of each other on each vehicle. Seems to be timed.

Right side passenger window regulator broke on 24jun09 and left side back passenger window regulator broke on 13jul09.both windows fixed in up position at local repair shop.repair for each window is over $400.mechanics states that this is a known defect in this model and expect the other two window regulators to fail.contacted gm/buick and they said they have not had enough complaints to warrant a recall and fix of this problem.i feel this company should be held accountable for this defect.part is made of metal and plastic (metal chain that goes over a plastic wheel).researched internet for customer feedback on this problem and found many customer complaints about this mechanism.

1) no evidence leading up to failure2) window mechanism failed, window would not return to closed position3) had to have buick replace mechanism at over $500 expense there are over 82 records of this exact problem on carsurvey (.org) - and not everyone surfs to record their problem.

Windows fall. Three of four windows so far fall into the door after the power window mechanism and be heard to snap inside the door.

In mar, 2008 the right front power window regulator failed and the window was stuck in the open position at 47,827 miles; i had the regulator replaced at a cost to me of $373.00; then in october, 2008 the right rear window failed and was stuck in the open position, at 53,612 miles.due to the cost of the regulator i had it sketched in the closed position which cost me $78.53; then in nov.2008 the left rear window stuck in the open position at 54,054 miles.i also had it scotched shut at a cost to me of $75.25.i am filing a complaint with general motors, buick division today.this is an obvious defect and should be repaired and corrected by general motors/ buick.

Power window regulators not working.i have 3 windows to drop down, repaired one at dealer for $450, disconnected the other 2 and blocked them up. The 1st happened about 3 yrs ago, the 2nd happened about 1 yr. Ago and the 3rd this aug 2009.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The contact stated the glass on the rear driver side window fell into the window mount without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed at a local repair facility where the contact was informed the failure was caused by a defective cable motor. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance, stating they had not received any similar complaints on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.the rear driver side window fell into the door panel and the contact was unable to close the window.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair facility where the contact was informed that the window regulator would need replacing.the vehicle was repaired. Approximately nine months later, the failure recurred on the front passenger window.the vehicle was taken back to the same independent repair facility where the window was repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 82,000.

Window on right driver side and on left rear driver side broken in down position.neither window was used excessively.

I purchased a 2002 buick lesabre on feb 10, 2006 with 26,000 miles from a buick dealer.since then two window motors have failed, costing me around $900.it seems that a $450 repair bill is the only way to fix this, the window cannot stay up otherwise.two windows in less then a year, no help from buick.pathetic.

Recently, my 2002 buick lesabre (purchased new in 2002) had the two rear windows fail within a few months of each other. In both cases, the cable which raises/lowers the window broke. The cable cannot be replaced alone but the motor and regulator must also be replaced. The cost for this at a gm dealer was $479.00 while the same job cost $290 at a non-gm repair center (gemini/goodyear). I lodged a complaint with buick and then researched the problem on the internet. I found a complaint about the same problem on a 1999 buick lesabre. This is obviously a defective design and one which is known to buick for several years prior to the 2002 model. While it is not a safety issue (unless there is adverse weather such as freezing cold or driving rain), it is an economic one. Why no recall by buick? is it because the problem crops up after the 3 year warranty is no longer in effect. I suspect so.

2002 buick lasabre customregulators at both rear power windows malfunctioning.the cable that guides window up and down jumped the tracking and was chewed and twisted making it necessary to be replaced costing $400 at each occurrence.

Dt: the rear driver's side windowwill go all the way down when it should only go half way down for child safety. It will not come back up. One end of the cable inside the window came loose. Contactedhe dealer, and the consumer was taking the vehicle in today. Noticed this on september 4, 2005.the dealer removed the regulator however he was unable to put back.the dealer wanted to charge the consumer $600.00 the consumer purchased the regulator from another dealer for a lesser charge and installed it himself.

Two of four window regulators have failed leaving the windows in the down position.there was no notice prior to the failures.the windows were put in the down position and would not close.it is extremely disconcerting that this could happen and my wife and two young children (ages 2 & 4) could be left in the rain with no way of closing the window.i feel that gm needs to reimburse owners for the cost of replacing these window regulators. The first incident occurred in 11/07 and the second incident occurred in 2/08.

I have had to place 3 window regulators in the past year. I have been told that some plastic piece on the regulator is failing. I've researched and seen that many others have had the same problems. Also i've been told by the previous owner that they had the same problems.

Window regulator failure three windows.

3 power windows have failed on my 2002 buick lesabre.

At approximately 25,000 miles, my 2002 buick lesabre's rear driver's side window regulator went out in the middle of the winter while a child was in the back seat. It just fell down, and barely missed harming the child. Three days later, i replaced the part. Four days after that, the rear passenger side window did the exact same thing. I replaced the part. Two months after that, both the front window regulators went out. Those parts were replaced. Four months later, the front passenger side went out again. Within two weeks, all four window regulators had gone out for a second time. They were all replaced at the same time. Six months later, and now three of the four are out again. (only the driver's window remains working at this point.) i have spent over $1,500 in just over a year, getting parts replaced for the windows and still the problem persists. I have spent $98.50 on different types of tape to try to find one that will hold the windows up, so they do not break while driving. I have had no luck finding one that holds for more than a day or two. This is an extreme danger to everyone in my car, along with others on the road, because i have to use so much tape to hold them up that i cannot see my mirrors properly. I have to travel with small children in my car with child safety seats, but i cannot trust the windows to stay up and am tired of constantly being scared that one will come down and break near the children, but have already spent so much trying to fix it that i cannot possibly sink any more money into 'fixing' something that is now apparent will never be 'fixed'.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph on normal road conditions, both side windows in the rear began to slip down into the door, causing an inability to properly secure the vehicle, as well as damage to the vehicle from rain.there were no warning signals prior to the incident.the vehicle was taken to a dealership, who replaced the power window switch, but the problem persisted.

While driving my 2002 buick lesabre, the front passenger window made a crunching noise and then just sank down into the doorframe. So i guess i'll be either replacing the window regulatoror having the window permanently closed. I've already replaced one regulator (driver's seat) and had one other window closed (back seat, passenger side). First failure occurred about a year ago. Second was about 2 months ago. Latest event was yesterday.

Dt*:the contact stated the rear passenger window was opened and would not close.the vehicle was taken to the service dealer who replaced the power window motor regulator.the problem has now occurred on the rear driver side window. The dealer and manufacturer have been alerted of the current problem. Prior to the failure, there was a loud noise before the incident happened.updated 07/05/06.

Driver side rear window failed. Actuator broken.after review on internet learned that defective actuator very common on buick lesabre.

Power window failure.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre. The rear window regulators failed and as a consequence the window devices are not operating normally. The regulators were repaired three times at an expense of $525.00 each. The dealer and a technician stated the regulators are poorly designed and will continue fail. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.updated 07/07/08.*ljupdated

Power window failure on 2002 buick lesabre.i own a 2002 buick lesabre which i purchased new.i also purchased an extended service warranty from general motors when i purchased the vehicle in august, 2002.just as the vehicle turned 2 years old, the power windows started failing one by one.to date i have replaced three of the window motors and one has now failed for the second time.it seems that gm should be very aware of this problem with defective window motors since i have been finding many complaints on the internet, and i have also spoken to other buick owners. I am also being told that even though my car has less than 55000 miles on it my extended warranty expired in august 2007.(it ran concurrently with the bumper to bumper for three years).the cost of the window repair is approximately $600.00 per window.the dealership has finally agreed to give the parts and i pay for repair, ($120.00), which is still a lot of money for shoddy windows.i hope you are able to do something so that gm will give us a permanent free fix to this problem.

I have a 2002 year buick lesabre where the front and rear windows would not raise up or down fully.i had to manually raised each window ny hand to close it if accidentally lowered by a passenger.we got one of our windows replaced for $600.i bought the other part for our rear window for about 60 dollars and had a mechanic placed in much cheaper than the former dealership charged.with one of the child-proof rear windows now locked with a piece of wood holding it up in the door window this makes it very unsafe if this car ever is submerged in water or some other compromising position with the rear passenger needing to escape.

The rear window drivers side just fell down, won't go back up. Have been told thus is common and is from gm bad partsfor window regulators.

Dt: the consumer stated thatwhile traveling 20 mph on the 2002 buick lesabre the window in the back passenger's door shattered. The consumer had the window repaired. Three weeks later the other side broke. The consumerconsulted with his dealership, and they said that the cable loosened from the window motor. The consumer called gm. The first window they fixed for free, and they charged the consumer for the next window repair. Both of the windowswere operating correctly now. The consumer stated that there was never anyone riding in the back seat that would have caused this to happen. The first window shattered on 9-7-2005, and the second one was on 10-3-2005. There were no injuries reported.(11/08/05)the left rear power window was inoperative.the regulator was replaced.on the second occasion, the passenger rear window fell down due to a loose regulator cable.*sc

It is currently 39 degrees and raining in san antonio texas and i just had the second window on my 2002 buick lesabre fail.this is ridiculous!my grandfather worked for gm for 40 years and i have been loyal to a fault.please help me understand why this is happening to me and apparently many others and buick won't recall the cars to fix them.at 500 dollars each i am furious.shame on you gm.

10/3/07 while driving down road with nobody in rear passenger side, rear window just dropped and wouldn't go up. Took to betten auto for repair and was told the regulator was broke and repair cost was $592.00. And that this is a common problem. And when 1 goes the other are sure to follow.

2002 buick lasabre - a rarely used (no childern) back window fell suddenly while driving.just had it replaced at the dealership at a cost of $442 (after getting them to lower the price $50 - so total would have been $492).this is an known problem by gm.the dealership and gm has not owned up to this problem.the part on the open market is only $99 - the dealership charges $344 for the same part.

The contact owns a 2002 buick lesabre.while the contact was examining her vehicle, the rear driver's side window suddenly fell inside of the door.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the window regulator needed to be replaced.prior to the failure, she replaced both windows twice for the same failure.the current mileage was 62,000 and failure mileage was 45,000.

Second time a power window has dropped within 4 months. First was the passenger rear in january 2010, second was front passenger window may 2010. Seems the power window regulators are running a metal cable over a plastic pulley wheel and using a plastic spool on the motor. When the plastic pulley wheel breaks the cable misaligns on the spool and the window drops and is inoperable. Costs of repairs is over $460.00 usd.

Broken rear driver window regulator on 2002 lesabre buick.72,000 miles.lowering windows and window stopped working in down position. $400 to fix and 3-5 days.

2002 buick le sabre window regulator broke and replaced both rear windows and drivers side window.

Rear window regulator on 02 buick lesabre needed to be replaced-over $500.less than a year later the front passengers window regulator needed to be replaced-$400.the dealer indicated a "bulletin" existed.the mechanic on the 2nd occurrence said it is a common problem.my brother has a lesabre as well, and guess what?window regulator problems!!!with a bad design like this, why can't someone force gm to recall these parts?

Defective power window regulators on my 2002 buick lesabre cost to repair @ $500.00 each. This is a huge problem with this vehicle from 2000-2005 modelgm needs to recall this defective part.

Dash pad coming loose, bowing up in front of driver, becoming detached in crucial area at passenger side airbag. To repair will cost around $950 parts and labor. Also window regulators have been replaced in windows that are used the least.

10-18-07 went out to check windows before storm and noticed right side rear window was down slightly. When i tried to put it up i found that the window regulator had failed and just let the window drop. This is the second one to fail this month. First one failure 10-3-07 this is plainly a factory defect that buick will not address on it's own.

In october of 2005 the passenger rear window slipped down and would not roll up again and i had to have the components replaced at a cost of $400 to me because there are no aftermarket parts and i had to buy the entire unit, half of which i did not need. Now the driver side rear window has done the same and i will have to spend an additonal $400 to fix this. I have to add that these windows were rarely rolled up or down. I feel this is totally planned obselescence by the auto maker and an effort to make more money on the car.

General motors 2002 buick lesabre window motors. I have had the car 5 years and i have replaced 2 window motors. Two were covered by warranty. Two i was forced to replace and now the last window that has not been replaced has failed. There is an obvious problem in the design.

The rear driver's side window made a pop noise as i was driving.the window then slowly slid down into the door.the window now will not return to the up position.this could be a safety issue during poor driving conditions causing the driver to be distracted by anything coming through the window; snow, rain, etc.it is also a personal safety issue as well as a child safety issue.i have a child in the back seat and i keep the child locks engaged to keep him from opening the door but what is to stop him from going out the window even if i have the windows locked.the cause of the failure is cheap plastic parts used in the window regulator that break even if the window is not used.i have already replaced one window regulator and now i am going to have to replace this one as well.i know gm is aware of the problem because they reimbursed me for the first one but refuse to do so on this one.the dealership has said that it is not a question of if the windows will fail, but when.there are many websites on the internet of this same problem.when is someone going to look after the consumer and not the corporation.i have detailed in this letter the possibility of a crash hazard if the window fails and causes a distraction to the driver, personal safety, and personal security of children in the rear seat.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph under normal road conditions, the window regulator fractured.the service dealer replaced the window regulator.updated 11/30/2006 -

The rear driver side window made a grinding noise and dropped down. The windowhad become inoperative. This is the second window to become inoperative. Previously, the front passenger window regulator became defective and inoperative. The window regulator is going out one at a time.

The mirrors on the driver and passenger sidefell down while closing the door.*sc

Reduced & impaired visibility through front windshield due to reflection of dash/slope of windshield. Causes loss of clarity, especially during bright daylight driving.

Consumer was unable to see out of the front windshield, a reflection from the windshield caused a glow.

There is a reflection from the windshield which is very blinding to the driver.also the defroster vent on the dash reflects off the windshield so thatvisibility is impaired.dealer has no fix.my fix was to place a dark rug on the dash.i feel that this is a design flaw and the manufacturer should correct it.

Defroster vent on dash is designed in such a way that it reflects off the windshield even on a cloudy day. Consumer is unable to drive vehicle due to this reflection. Dealer admitted it was a design flaw, but has no remedy.

While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wiper blades separated.this caused the windshield wiper bladestoscratch the windshield, resulting inpoor visibility.the consumer contacted the dealer, but there wasno response from theem.*sc

While driving and withno warning the left windshield wiper stopped working.it was raining hard when the left wiper failed, but the right wiper continued to work, and then the left wiper arm nut had come off.the dealer replaced the nut with a nylon insert so that it would not come off. *scc

Replaced left front wheel bearing aug 2005 (50500 mi)then in dec 2006 (73600 mi) had to replace right one.suspect those failures have been factor in rotors needing to be turned.

2002 buick lasabre limited has aluminum alloy wheels that are seriously corroding at the sealing rim causing a serious loss of tire air pressure. We had to pay our buick dealer to clean and epoxy coat the wheels to stop the leaking. It failed to resolve the problem. We have to check the tire air pressure every day or 150 miles or the tires can become so deflated that they are unsafe. This issue is just as serious as the ford explorer/firestone tire issue and no one at buick or gm will admit they have a problem.

Trip check showed:fuel leak under engine cover, front wheel drive shaft oil leaking fluid, power steering leaking fluid. Air bag light came on after the horn was hit hard, afterabout 20 minutes it went of, technician couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Right wheel bearing going bad at 72000 miles. The left one was replaced at 50000 mildx
