The dash board is seperating at the seams all the way to the air bags. It may lead to possible air bag deployement on passenger side. Please fix this could lead to a very serious accident i communte on a daily basis with my two son 6 and 10. Please do a recall on this vehicle someone could be serious injured please help!

Dashboard top is separating and buckling in area between steering wheel and windshield. It started slowly when i first purchased the car and has progressively gotten worse with time. While researching the problem, i found this to be a common issue. I'm worried that as the dashboard separation gets worse, it will affect the passenger air bag and/or vehicle electronics in the dashboard area leading to an accident.

The dash pad on my 2001 buick le sabre has separated and buckled up approximately six inches in height and mostly in front of my steering wheel, however it is lifted 3/4 of the way across the entire dash. It is now open in the front along where it meets the windshield. It has lifted almost all the way to the passenger side air bag. Upon reading on line, i see that this is a very common problem for 2001 through 2005 buicks and i am just another complaint to add to the list.the rise in the dash certainly effects my view while driving. I have placed a thick pad on top of my drivers seat to raise my body. This assists me, so i am able to peer over the raised dash while driving.i am greatly concerned that the separation, is going to suddenly deploy my passenger side air bag.

Air bag lights come on for weeks at a time, then go back off.my mechanic said it would cost a lot of money just to get it checked.

Air bag failed to deploy during accident.nlm

The dash pad on my 2001 lesabre, which my elderly mother previously owned and maintained well, has buckled and pulled up from the dash board right above the steering wheel.it has pulled out of the defrost panel on the driver's side and curls up and is becoming an obstruction to my view.i am unable to reattach it and worried that as it continues to pull out to the passenger's side, it will possibly activate the airbag.i have researched and found this to be a problem for multiple years of the lesabre model and gm has not addressed it. I've never seen this happen with other older car models and understand that it has been a problem for the lesabre for some in the early years of ownership.

Dash mat separation bulge in front of steering wheel moving toward pass airbag.

Vehicle was in a front end accident with an suv and the airbag did not deploy. Vehicle was a total loss.

My parents purchased a 2001 buick lesabre from the dealership new. Both parents (father now deceased) retired and moved to florida in 2001, and very rarely drove the vehicle. My father passed away in february of this year (2012) and my mother asked me if i wanted the car. I drove to florida to pick up the car and noticed the dash panel was all buckled and looked horrible. I asked my mother what had happened and thought perhaps it was due to the south florida heat, but my mother said it started in 2006 and they had brought it back to dealer multiple times and was told it was not a warranty issue and would cost over $1000 to repair. After searching online for replacement dash panels i discovered this is a problem with the vehicle and has been for sometime, florida heat had nothing to do with it, i believe this is a manufacturing defect and will cause the airbag to deploy causing injury.

Tl-the contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.while driving 20 mph under normal road conditions the air bags deployed.the manufacturer was contacted and stated that an investigator would examine the vehicle.the failure and current mileages were unknown.sm

I have had to replace all four power window motors, the dash is coming apart and is raised blocking some visibility and potentially affecting the air bag deployment in an accident.in addition, it seems to me that braking vibration / pulsation has been a problem on all five of my buick lesabres

Air bag broke plastic but did not inflate; neck injury resulted from whiplash.

The horn doesn't sound for me and dealer says it can not be adjusted because of air bag in steering wheel.i have arthritic hands and can not push the horn hard enough or in the correct spot to use it in case of an emergency.dealer said they have had other complaints from owners about this problem.dt

Airbag light appears on dashboad and alarm system came on.while traveling onhighway consumer hit horn and center piece popped up. Dealership was aware of problem.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being operated, the air bag sensor warning light suddenly illuminated. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 206,889.

I was driving home from work at 45 miles per hour when my buicks air bag deployed for no good reason and caused me to rear end a fellow employee at a light. I was dumbfounded by the accident and was wondering what happened because i recalled no red light or seeing brake lights. I am so happy that my fellow employee are not detrimentally injured by this. The bag apparently shocked me and the dashboard blinded me so i had no way to react.. I sure hope that this problem is address to the fullest extent. I thankful that i was not driving on the interstate at the time. I am also expecting buick to replace my car at the same value atleast.

The dash pad under the windshield is starting to buckle and separate from the metal clamps.this separation is continually growing and moving from the drivers side of the dash panel to the passenger side where the front passenger air bag is located.with this movement and change i am concerned that the passenger air bag will not deploy in an accident or the air bag may inadvertently deploy causing injury to the passenger, not to mention how the driver may react should the airbag deploy unexpectedly.general motors needs to fix this to insure nobody is injured if that hasn't already happened.

The air bag warning light came on and stayed on while driving. This rendered the air bags inoperative. A diagnostic testwas performed, but no failure code was found.after two tries, the dealer found no problem in the system.*sc

The dash board is melting away an it has lifted up the passenger side air bad an i think thats a safey hazard cause if i was to get into a finder bender or a bad car wreck the passenger air will not come out. An i have seen this problem on other make an models just like mines

The dash board is seperating at the seams all the way to the air bags. It may lead to possible air bag deployement on passenger side.

Consumer was involved in a front end collison traveling10-`15 mphin whichfront driver and passenger side airbags failed to deploy. Consumer sustained injuries toabdominal area/ knees, and eyes. Manufacturer has been contacted, but has been unable to offer any customer satisifaction. Please provide further details.

Consumer states that when hit at 30mph in the front center of the vehicle the air bag did not deploy causing minor injuries to the consumer. Dealer notifiedts

2001 buick lesabre vin [xxx] dash pad has been peeling upward toward windshield. Started in front of steering wheel and has migrated across to the passenger side. Also peeling apart on corners and above glove box. As the passenger side has worsened, there is a noise that i suspect is coming from the passenger side air bag. I am concerned about a deployment of the passenger side air bag. The dash looks to be a blast away unit when the air bag is deployed. If the passenger side air bag were to deploy under normal driving conditions it may obscure the view of the driver. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Car was struck from behind first then forced into the car in front. This resulted in damage to both front and rear.the impact to the front failed to activate either driver or passenger airbag ,yet caused enough damage to indicate a force beyond the activation point was received.

Buick lost the bbb decision and did not perform within the 40 days allotted to replace the car. The car has multiple safety defects (air bag, transmission, braking) that the bbb said could cause serious bodily injury or death. They want to buy back the car and inspect it so it can be resold.*nlm

The contact owns a 2001 buick lasabre. While examining the vehicle the contact noticed that the airbag light had appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the airbag module was replaced, however the contact was still experiencing the failure. While traveling 45 mph the frontal airbagsexploded without warning. The vehicle has not been diagnosed. The failure mileage was 71000 and the current mileage was 80000.

Dt: the contact stated that the airbag light illuminated without incident.he took the vehicle to a dealer, who suggested resetting the airbag.the dealer reset the airbag, andthe airbag light later illuminated.he took the vehicle back to the dealer.the dealer determined the airbag was not working properly ,and could not offer any explanation.no further repairs or corrections have been made.

Vehicle was involved in a lateral collision; upon impact, side air bags did not deploy. Three people were injured in the accident. The windshield was not properly installed at the time the consumer purchased the vehicle. All four doors were leaking and were repaired three times.

Battery would not hold charge. Had a new computer put in. Did not help. Had a new alternator installed. Did not help. Car caught on fire after about a year of trying to find the cause. Fire marshall said the fuse box shorted and caught the insulation on fire which burned the fuel line into. Car is no longer a problem. Totally gone. Fire was so intense it melted the engine.

Just purchased this vehicle in florida and drove it back to massachusetts. While tuning in the radio, i noticed that the radio/cassette area was "hot", very hot....i shut the radio off and continued to monitor the radio section by feeling it. It stayed hot! the radio components on the steering wheel was also hot but not as bad as the radio section itself. What could be wrong with this?i have been checking the buick lesabre recalls but have not found any. Certainly this problem is not ok. I have never felt any radio in any car "hot" - and i really mean "hot". I will be taking this car immediately to a buick dealer. Please let me know if you have any information on this. This is a buick lesabre - 2001 with 25000 miles. The older couple that owned it rarely used it and probably never used the radio therefore never noticed the problem.thank you.

When the vehicle was purchased, the left rear window regulator was not working. The previous owner said she had a mechanic "fix" it so it would not fall down, as dealer wanted $500. She also said she had replaced the right passenger window regulator. Since i have had it (about a year), the right rear regulator has quit. I also paid a mechanic to "fix" it so it wouldn't fall down. We do not use the back seat. This is a major problem with lesabres through 4-5 years, yet buick/gm refuses to issue a recall, only a sb on how to repair it.

Passenger window would not go up july 2011.one week later left rear passenger window would not function.february 2012 right rear window failed.april 2012 left rear window would not go down. Fortunately, it was under warranty.so far, the windows have cost me $735.00 in less than a year.catalytic converter rattles a lot in morning when car is cold.only a matter of time before it will need to be replaced.was told by aamco can be replaced at buick's expense, but have not been able to confirm this.

Dt*:the contact stated the rear brake, hazard warning and signal lights are inoperable.the dealership was alerted but no appointment has been made.

I left my window open for about five minutes during a rain storm and the left side buttons on my steering wheel controlling music only works pressing the bottom of the switches.the top of the switches have no result: therfore i lost my scanning the stations as well as seek downwards. Now 2 months later without any water contact i am now losing my am/fm mode button unless i press like i want to kill it.the window switches for the left rear have now died and i am being told i need to pay for a reset of that left rear door module and then the switch should work ok.what is gm thinking of, making their switches less waterproof than 50 years ago, and why should i have to pay if it is a computer reset.thanks for no help!, gm.

Between 5/24/02 and 3/14/05 vehicle loses complete electrical power. Five trips to dealer has failed to identify or correct problem i called thegm customer service rep on 3/30/05. Shestated that gm doesn't recognizethis issue as being a problem. She suggested i take the key out of ignitionas solution. This was not an issue until my last visit to thedealer and ireportedthat it appears my vehicle loses power only when i let the key in ignition.my argument is that there is nothing in the owner's manuel that states the key must be removed, so long as the key is not left in the accessory mode, and if not, there must be a defective ignition.the gm rep, myka skinner, ph 866-952-4368 ext. 58735.dealer name: lynn chevrolet, buick, ph 800-883-3141, svc rep. Christopher hudson. I have three other cars parked in my garage, none of which looses power the way my 2001 buick lesabre does.this is very obviously a vehicle defect which gm does not want to recognize and repaireven though the vehicle was still under warranty whenthe problem was first reported to the dealer.please help !

When i try to start some times it wont start i have to play with the key for 10 min i don't get any power at all i can here the fuel pump turn on and nothing happens then starts i play with itstarts right up then the other thing i notice is when it rains it makes an awful squealing noise.

I have had to replace all four power window motors, the dash is coming apart and is raised blocking some visibility and potentially affecting the air bag deployment in an accident.in addition, it seems to me that braking vibration / pulsation has been a problem on all five of my buick lesabres

Rear window regulator have malfunctioned for 3rd time in both rear windows. Oil leaking from valve/heads causing smoke under hood. Door controls shorted out,and electrical problems causing doors to lock and unlock without cause and switching from driver1 to driver2 and back while driving.

Automatic transmission failed at 65000 miles after having already been repaired once.initially extended warranty company tried to blame me for the failure but after dealer disassembled transmission for inspection it was covered. Also, have had numerous problems with lights on the dashboard, radio and steering wheel constantly failing, 2 windows have failed in the open position, the drivers side heated seat stopped working at 50,000 miles. The only thing that has not been fixed is the heated seat. Dealer says it costs too much to fix. I bought the best extended warranty the dealer offered and still have to fight to get things fixed. This is the last time i buy american.

All 4 windows have failed. One of them twice! my dashboard is separating exactly the same way many others have described theirs. I initially had major battery issues (battery is located under back seat on driver's side - how weird is that?). I would drive my car to the store, come out, and it would not start. One time, i opened the trunk to get my jumper cables and when i slammed the trunk lid, the radio came on! then, of course, the car started just fine. After owning this possessed car with major reliability issues for several months, we found an electrical mechanic who discovered a lose wire in the manufacturers electrical work which was somehow connected to the battery. My gas gauge hasn't worked in years. I am always at 3/4 to a full tank. This is otherwise a great car, but i am seriously disappointed that buick will not stand behind some of these repeat problems, especially the electric motors for the windows and that horrible plastic part that continues to break. Somebody from buick should read these complaints and do something.

2007 the right rear passenger window kept on going down on its own.had a mechanic rip out floor board and found a defective electrical harness, wire exposed causingground out. He learned this from a gm mechanic who said it was a know issue.problem was fixed. 2009now the same window went down. All windows except drivers will not function, automatic door locks will not work, and when i drive at nite i can see the lights on the passenger side door flicker on for about 10 seconds, again another electrical issue?

I bought my 2001 lesabre new and have had an issue with the heat in the radio and cruise controls and system both in the dash and on the steering wheel.it has always been excessively hot. When i asked about this heat in the controls at the dealership, i was simply informed that nothing could be done.it has been this way every day.the dealer did replace the steering wheel cruise control button; but, that did not eliminate the heat.

Rear window does not work, motor is good, switches are good, regulator is good.what gm is telling me is that the door module has lost its program and i need to go to them to reset this at a cost of $125.they don't know why it could have lost the program, but it is quite popular.just come in and spend money and it "might" work again.are you kidding?otherwise after the $125 i will have to pay $250 for a new module and they will be kind enough to reset the new one for free. After a $375 plus tax payment!

Car has twice shutoff during driving.last time in middle of turn, son ran off road because steering wheel was locked.it is not included in any gm recall for the ignition switch, but symptoms are identical.dealer has no idea how to repair except to 'try' things.problem is, if guess is wrong and problem persists, serious accident could happen.

Window motors on all four doors have quit working over the past 3 years.we have three replaced and now two more are broken for a grand total of five window motors.local dealer has become useless on this matter and neither gm nor the buick division have responded to multiple inquiries.we have always tried to support american made products, especially gm.the percived "we don't care" attitude has definately changed our thought process about our future vehicle purchases.

The dash board is seperating at the seams all the way to the air bags. It may lead to possible air bag deployement on passenger side. Please fix this could lead to a very serious accident i communte on a daily basis with my two son 6 and 10. Please do a recall on this vehicle someone could be serious injured please help!

Several times beginning in approximately march 2015, my car began to stall while at signal.one time the car quit while driving.the ignition does not work properly, sometimes it will turn the car over to start, other times it will not.i did not know about the recall.i purchased my buick at a lien sale.i am worried the car may have the problem indicated in the recall.i had two mechanics check the battery (replaced) alternator (tested good) and they checked fuel injection and air intake.the problem continues to happen.i would sincerely appreciate it if a general motors dealer could please check my car.

The windows of this car are undependable. In case of accident defective motors regulators do not work. All four windows are a problem. This is a safety issue as you would not be able to exit by a window if need be. This is a problem with many of the buick lesabre 2001. Buick manufacturing will not admit that there is a problem with their windows. Buick states that the cars are past warranty and therefore will not do any thing about it. I include these two sites as evidence to this fact and how wide spread this problem is.http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-6617098213423805&output=html&h=90&slotname=7952013016&w=728&lmt=1358582400&flash=11.4.402.265&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.aboutautomobile.com%2fcomplaint%2f2001%2fbuick%2flesabre%2fpower%2bwindow&dt=1358997446843&bpp=16&shv=r20130122&jsv=r20121214&prev_slotnames=6969891371&correlator=1358997446734&frm=20&adk=1032090657&ga_vid=657897228.1358997064&ga_sid=1358997064&ga_hid=919312188&ga_fc=1&u_tz=-360&u_his=6&u_java=1&u_h=768&u_w=1280&u_ah=738&u_aw=1280&u_cd=32&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&dff=arial&dfs=12&adx=265&ady=1015&biw=1259&bih=644&oid=3&ref=http%3a%2f%2fwww.google.com%2furl%3fsa%3dt%26rct%3dj%26q%3d%26esrc%3ds%26frm%3d1%26source%3dweb%26cd%3d5%26ved%3d0cfgqfjae%26url%3dhttp%253a%252f%252fwww.aboutautomobile.com%252fcomplaint%252f2001%252fbuick%252flesabre%252fpower%252bwindow%26ei%3djqqaubwzhsbh0wgf_iggda%26usg%3dafqjcnep6ywawyzgkeyutplih1jjfuubhg%26sig2%3dvlpverp_xpobzytn06rika&docm=8&fu=0&ifi=2&dtd=94&xpc=dgpdfquzhd&p=http%3a//www.aboutautomobile.comhttp://www.carcomplaints.com/buick/lesabre/2001/windows_windshield/power_window_stopped_working.shtml.

2001 buick lesabre experienced the following problems: cruise control would not set, automatic transmission had no reverse ability, water leaking from the coolant pump, ses light illuminated, left rear brake light.***no answer required*** *mr there was a whistling sound coming from around the window area due to a revealing molding piece, the steering felt funny and was noisy when turning, there was also a clunk in the steering, there was excessive play in the right and left tie rod end, the left rear brake light was out, the right rear center bulb was out, the original battery had leaked acid causing a hole in floor under the back seat, the light switch stuck in the on position, and the right front marker light out.the power steering pump was replaced. *sc

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle stalled while idling and eventually failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer five or six times because it would not start. Once a year, for the last three years, the battery and alternator were replaced.currently, the vehicle will not start and the dealership determined the battery and alternator need to be replaced again.

Since buying the car it has been in the shop more than out, have had problems traveling out of town ruined two trips.the window wipers were disconnected, alternator out, transmission out, dash rattles, motor under drivers seat is loose, and the air conditioner makes a high whine.the seat, and dash and transmission have been looked at three times and still not fixed.the car shifts hard into gear after replacing the transmission which took two times to the shop to fix.the tire light kept coming on during one of the out of town trips even though it was checked repeatedly.

Operating mechanisms on the rear window broke causing the window to go down and stay down.we had to replace the whole mechanism.a few months later the other rear window did the same thing. I think the cables are defective. Is there a recall on the mechanisms?we also had to replace an idler pulley after 40,000 miles.

Engine will shut off upon exelleration at highway speeds between 45 - 55mph. And became more frequentover time at lower speeds. Was able to restart vehicle after sitting a couple of minutes from the start of the problem. But over time, it became more frequent and harder to restart with each incident. I've taken it to 1-dealer and 2-shops for diagnostic but, they could find nothing. My mechanic told me that there was a lot of oil leaking onto the engine and it was not safe to drive it until this leak was fixed.i left the car at his shop while the parts were ordered.i learned of the gm recall of the 3800 series engine (oil seeping through valve cover gaskets and causing engine fires) and asked my mechanic if this was the same oil leaking problem and why wasn't the model, the 2001 buick lesabre, put on the recall list because it has the 3800 series engine in it.he did not know, so i called gm and ask why this model wasn't listed in the recall.the gm support staff searched my vin number and said that this model is not covered under the recall.i decided to continue with the repair of the oil leak, and my mechanic ordered new valve cover and gasket parts.my mechanic informed me that the parts were on back order due to the recall and there would be a waiting period.after a few weeks my mechanic called and said that the parts were in and that he would start the work the next day.the following day i received a call from my mechanic that as they started the car to move it from parking lot into the work bay there was a loud pop and smoke came out from under the hood.they lifted the hood, the engine was on fire so they extinguished the fire with fire suppression immediately and notified me.i called the gm support staff back to let them know that my original complaint of an oil leak had progressed to an engine fire while waiting for the parts to arrive and the repair to begin.the car had been parked for several weeks, stationary in the parking lot prior to starting it before the pop-sound and fire.

The contact's father owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the garage for approximately 5 weeks, when his father was attempting to jump start the battery when on the second attempt there was an explosion in the engine compartment. The contact and his father was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. The fire department was contacted however, they did not extinguish the fire and a fire department report was filed. The contact stated no one was injured. A dealer had not been aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,348.

I went out to start the car to go to work and i heard a backfire, my husband came out wondering what that bang was. Smoke started coming out from the hood. He popped the hood to see what the problem was and flames came shooting out from under the hood.he closed the hood to smother the fire, we had to call the fire department' to put the fire out.the car is a total loss. Now we are without a car. Now what!!!!this car was well maintained and great working order before this happened.

Rear window regulator have malfunctioned for 3rd time in both rear windows. Oil leaking from valve/heads causing smoke under hood. Door controls shorted out,and electrical problems causing doors to lock and unlock without cause and switching from driver1 to driver2 and back while driving.

The contacts husband noticed smoke was coming from under the hood and when he lift the hood, it was engulfed in flames. The contacts husband was able to extinguished the fire. The contact also mentioned that the engine was fractured and that the cover had blown off due to the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,060.*dt

When the hood was opened, the contact noticed that the engine cover for the engine assembly and fuel system had flown off. The fire extinguished on its own. The vehicle remained parked at the contact's residence due to the failure. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 04v090000 (fuel system, gasoline) and nhtsa action number: ea02030 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failures as the recall and nhtsa investigation. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The vehicle in question is equipped with the 3800 series engine. The vehicle caught on fire while starting the engine. Family member owned a 2003 chevy impala with identical engine which caught on fire while he was driving home for work. Gm settled with them for a recall that was placed on the engine. I believe there is a major design flaw with this engine.

Car went into cruise control on its own and would not dis-engage.found out that the cruise control cable clip broke.luckily we were able to stop the car and no one was hurt.

Our buick had been running fine, but went to move it one morning. With a cold engine, as soon as we hit the starter, the engine exploded very loudly and started burning. After the fire was put out, it was determined that the entire intake manifold, along with the fuel lines had exploded in many pieces. From internet research, it was found that the fuel pressure regulator had a recall for vehicle years '98-'00, which these models had the same condition. Had i had the hood open at the time, i'd probably been hurt by flying chunks from the intake manifold. This is a very dangerous condition which could have easily caused bodily harm, even from fire to the passengers inside.

The gas hand said it was full, when i drove off the parking lot.. I didn't get off the road, when the car ran out of gas. Cars blowing horns.

Engine of my 2001 buick le sabre, v6, 3800 engine, caught fire after an oil change and short drive home. Authorized mechanic diagnosed it as engine oil leaked out of gasket and on top of exhaust manifold, triggering a fire that quickly melted the plastic wire harness cover and started burning through the wires. I caught the fire early as it was in my driveway and i had a fire extinguisher but fire was spreading quickly. I am unable to afford the repairs.

I try to start the car and the car wouldn't start and then i tried to start the car again then i heard a big loud sound from the engine a boob sound. I notice smoke was coming from the hood. My brother was outside when the loud sound went off. My brother and i move the other vehicles out of the way so it wouldn't catch on fire. Went back over to the car my brother tried to pursue with the matter and he notice he was on fire under the hood while the smoke were coming from the engine it was to much for him to handle so he told me to call the fire department and did that. Engine was on fire spreading larger surrounding the tires on the front of the car while the engine was in flames. The police came and the fire department arrive a couples minutes after that. They spread it down with fire hoses and that was it. It not fixable and it scared very bad this is really bad so that's why i'm writing this to solve this matter .

Oil leak on 2001 buick lesabre.not only was leaking from sending unit, but from valve covers.obviously is leaking on engine, as i smell hot oil and at times see smoke coming from under the front hood.a recall:ea07008 nhtsa action number:ea07008has been issued for various gm models including buick regal, all with the 3.8 engine, however the lesabre is not listed. This aforementioned recall indicated that this could cause a fire in the engine compartment, so considered a safety issue.

My engine was smoking and smelled of burning oil. Went toba mechanic and said my valve is leaking oil all over my engine for some reason. This engine i've read is prone to engine fires. This maybe a defective engine in the buick as well.

In december 2010 i had my 2001 buick lesabre repaired at schepel buick in merrillville, indiana.they replaced the intake manifold gaskets and the thermostat because of the coolant leaking.i just found out the gm knew of this problem with the dex coolant for a long time and didn't let anyone know.i called the service manager a schepel bill and talked to him and he said that he never heard of this and neither did gm. Its all over the internet.he lied to me. He told me not to believe what the internet says.i am out $779.45 for something that they should have paid for.the never had a recall because they wanted to keep it quite.i just don't think that they should get away with keeping it quite when someone could get hurt and to avoid paying for their mistake.

I am trying to get information on a recall for my 2001 buick lesabre. I spoke with buick and they acknowledged there was a recall for engine coolant leaks, but apparently being the second owner of the vehicle i was not notified. I am now having problems with engine coolant leaking into the motor. I have 73,000 miles on the vehicle and the dealer states it is age and mileage. I am not sure!!!!!! i feel if there was a recall due to a defective gasket which caused these leaks then i should be covered under that recall??? from what i could learn from your site buick had a recall for their regal and pontiac grand prix. It is gm recall.#07035. I know i have a lesabre, but it seems to be having the same problems. Is there a recall on my vehicle also??it supposedly is affecting over 20,764 vehicles and the 2001-2003 models won't be notified right away. Prior years were notified april 2008.i am a second owner so not sure if i would ever be notified. Please advise.

Fuel leaking from rear of engine fuel line. My wife noticed a strong smell of fuel in our garage. I took the vehicle to our local buick/gmc dealer in las vegas, nv. The dealer identified a "rear feed fuel line leaking, seal worn internally". Upon inquiry there is a "national backorder" for the fuel line assembly (at $600.00 plus dollars for the part alone). I understood from one of the mechanics, that it seems to be a common problem. I contacted buick, but they declined the repair claiming that "motor vehicles are complex machinery and sometimes require repairs". I would agree with that statement if it did not involve leaky fuel lines, and a potential fire hazard !! please help.

I think this is an ongoing safety issue that has appeared in previous model years (gm recall no. 03054b. See campaign 03v-473). This recall addresses the exact problem that has occurred with my 2001 buick lesabre. I called gm to see if there was coverage for it and they told me not at this time. This is a real safety issue because it causes a fire and it should be included in this recall. The damaged could have been avoided if this had been included and i think that gm should be responsible for the repairs since they did not fix the problem from previous years.

Ever since i got my car, a 2001 buick lesabre, in approx 2006 i have had trouble with the gas gage, i can't trust it, it goes up and down, i have seen on the net that other people have had the same problem.

Buick lost the bbb decision and did not perform within the 40 days allotted to replace the car. The car has multiple safety defects (air bag, transmission, braking) that the bbb said could cause serious bodily injury or death. They want to buy back the car and inspect it so it can be resold.*nlm

I bought a car on june 17th i was told there was nothing wrong with the car so i told the woman i bought it from i wanted it inspected before i made a decision to buy it to make sure it was safe she brought it to her inspection station in it got in inspection sticker stating there was absolutely nothing wrong with it as i drove it home i noticed that it was bouncing up and down in that the front-end and back-end would hit the ground i had a friend look at it that knows about cars and told me that the front and back struts were completely gone and it also had for bald tires and there is oil splattered all over the engine i contacted the woman i bought it from and she will not return my calls and wants nothing to do with giving me my money back i also went back to the inspection station and asked how the heck did this car get in inspection sticker i was told to leave i need advice and where i should go from here

Replaced fuel pump and sender because of erratic levels 6 months later same problem arrose

I am reporting what i consider to be a safety defect in the 2001 buick lasabre.tonight my husband's buick lasabre was parked on an uphill slope.he popped the trunk and it went up when he popped it (as it is supposed to do).however, as i then went to put a package within the trunk, the trunk lid crashed down on my head, instead of locking in a upward position as it should have.i still have quite a headache from the impact.evidently this is not an infrequent occurrence; my husband said that he feels there is a defect in the mechanism which should hold the lid up.he said that this problem seems to occur when the car is parked on an uphill slope.because i rarely drive his car or put anything in the trunk, it is the first time i was aware of this particular problem.when this happened tonight, my husband told me that he had reported this defect to buick some time ago but never got a response.i shudder to think of the tragedy which could have occurred if i had been holding one of my three small grandchildren as the lid came crashing down on me.i do hope you investigate this potential hazardous situation and see that buick does something to fix this problem.thank you.*la

On my 2001 buick lesabre, the transmission went out.since we had an extended warranty, they are replacing it with a used transmission, which is a concern since i do not know how many miles it will have on it.in any event, i do not think a transmission should go out at 50,000 miles, and since it had other problems which caused it to end up at the dealership, i am concerned taking it any distance.the reason i purchased a buick was reliability, but it has been the most unreliable car i have owned (i am 53), and i have never had a transmission go out and have owned cars since i was 18.

While driving on highway and heard a loud noise and the car stopped.was able to pull to side of road.the transmission was the result of a "defective bearing tht came apart in the final drive of the transmission, causing metal contamination thorughout the transaxle."this was the analysis of austin transmission.car is a 2001 buick lesabre with 50,000 miles.austin transmission says gm has "updated parts" - parts which replace defective parts.this was a defective part.no transmission should fail at 50,000.this car was not driven by teenagers.this is my wife's car - age 65 but i was driving it that day.

I have always had my car serviced regularly/complete service everytime/all fluids. I have had to have it rebuilt at a cost of $1200.00. I have an intermittent problem with my driver side seatbelt.the belt keeps getting caught in the floor retractor.when i try to pull the belt up to use, it gets stuck and has to be tugged on 5-6 times to get it to release. Orange buick first looked at it on 4/25/02 and claimed, "belt out of place causing lock to engage r&r and reposition left front seat belt retractor."that did not fix it and i brought it back again on 7/1/02.they said they would have to order a new belt and replace it.supposedly, buick realized that they had a problem and had redesigned their belts.the replacement belt was installed on 7/16/02, and worked okay for about 2 weeks, and has started the same problem all over again.because it is an intermittent problem, they can't seem to reproduce the problem, but i keep getting caught with it.i'm very concerned that one of these times, the belt will not release after 5 or 6 tugs and then i will be forced to drive my car without the seatbelt engaged, which is both illegal and very dangerous.

Rotors were badly rusted before car had 30000 miles on it causing poor braking and extreme vibration of car while driving. Needed to replace all rotors and brakes at 30000 mile check up. Learned that gm has had a problem with rusty rotors due to elimination of chromium in the iron alloys during manufacturing of rotors. Very costly 30000 mile check up and gm and dealer refuses to accept responsibility for problem rather they say its "environmental". Did not have accident but did have problem braking a high speeds. Since this is original equipment i feel gm should take responsibility for defective substandard equipment.

Another very common defect with multiple year buicks besides the window regulators that buick refuses to admit fault and refuses to do anything about them. This is about the dash covering pulling away from the windshield and likely cause air bag to discharge and soon will obstruct vision through the windshield. Dash panel cover separating and buckling in front of driver's steering wheel gm will not replace and i feel it could cause visibility problems later. Have read online other drivers have had problems with it causing airbag to deploy on passage side if it separates all the way across dash.

The dash board is seperating at the seams all the way to the air bags. It may lead to possible air bag deployement on passenger side. Please fix this could lead to a very serious accident i communte on a daily basis with my two son 6 and 10. Please do a recall on this vehicle someone could be serious injured please help!

2001 buick lasabre dash is peeling up between steering wheel and windshield.started peeling up within a few years of car being manufacturer's.per local dealership, buick will not cover expense to repair.this has become a real safety issue as you can barely see over the dash as it is sticking up so high and i have concerns that the air bag will deploy on the passenger side as the dash continues to peel all the way across the dash.someone is going to get severely injured or killed if buick does not fix this factory defect.buick should issue a national recall to repair a defective dash.

The dashcover has come unglued and buckling up. There is concern that this may interfere with proper operation of the passenger air bag.

On my 2001 lesabre limited, the dashpad came pulled loose and started bunching up in front of the steering wheel.gm is not doing anything about it. If it causes airbag deploy or a sudden block of the driver's view, a serious accident may follow.

The back of the front dashboard has been peeling up nearly since i bought it. It is peeled away all across the front where it connects near the window. I found some information that said it can cause a hazard if it peels to the passenger side because it can cause the airbags to deploy. It's an expensive fix. It also does take some visibility away.

In august of 2011 the dash panel of my buick lesabre started to pull away from the windshield hider moulding and a lump started to appear in back of the steering wheel and move toward the drivers side of the vehicle.i am worried that it will affect the airbag deployment system which is under the dash cover on the passengers side of the vehicle.i went on line and found that hundreds of people are having the same problem and this is definitely a defect in production of the dash panel cover but gm will do nothing about it other than direct me toreturn it to the dealer and pay upwards of $1000.00 or more to correct a defect that gm is responsible for.the years that the lesabre has this problem spans at least 2001 to 2005 that i know of and yet they refuse to recall the vehicles to repair the defect that they produced.i do not know if this defect has or will in the future cause injury or death but let us not wait for this to happen.arecall of these defective vehicles is most definitely warranted and should be forced to take place by the government.

The dashboard between the air vent and the steering wheel underneath the windshield is curling up and coming off. From my research, pretty much all the '01 through '05 buicks have the same problem and gm is not doing anything about it. This will only get worse and could potentially cause the passanger side airbags to deploy for no reason and harm the people in the vehicle badly. Please help!

2001 buick lesabre limited 'dash mat' has separated and buckled in front of the steering wheel causing a visibility issue and is seems to continue to be separating towards the passenger side airbag - based on my online research it seems that this is a very common issue amongst 2000 - 2005 lesabre owners.i live in florida and am not sure if heat is a contributing factor.

The dash board cover is separating or "crumpled"i am concerned this can cause the air bag to deploy if it separates too far. The dealer says that it is not covered under the warranty that i purchased. Does someone have to be seriously injured before something is done about this problem? i have seen many other buick lesabres doing the same thing. How can this issue be condoned by gm.

Another very common defect with multiple year buicks besides the window regulators that buick refuses to admit fault and refuses to do anything about them. Noticed when i first got the car in 2009 when i bought the car from a used dealership. A small piece of the dash was peeling up. Didn't think much of it at the time but dash has pretty much lifted from the drivers side almost all the way to the passengers side. A little worried that the passengers airbag may go off.read many forums where others are complaining about there dash doing the same thing. Think there should be some type of recall to fix this problem. Seen several cars like mine in town and almost everyone i see has the same dash problem. Gm needs to address this problem!!

2001 buick lasabre.consumer writes in regards to vehicle dash board separation problem.the consumer stated the dashboard came apart on the front driver's side and curled up about four inches. The dashboard separation has since moved to the passenger side by the front air bag.

This complaint is in regards to the dashboard.i purchased the car about four years ago.initially there were not problems.as the years progressed, i noticed a steady separation of the dashboard and it started forming a very visible hump.i did some research online and discovered i was not alone in expressing my concern:http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-c5295_ds45613.i am requesting that this matter be discussed and physically looked into.god forbid the airbags deploy for no reason and cause an accident or something along those lines.

I have a 2001 buick lesabre custom in which the dashboard has come loose from the window molding and has buckled up half way across the dashboard.my understanding is that if it goes all the way across it can cause the airbag(s) to deploy possibly causing injury.other than this the car is in excellent condition previously owned by an older couple who, almost literally, drove it to church and the grocery store.i love my car but can't afford to replace the dashboard.

The dash covering has begun shrinking or pulling away from the windshield for some time now. Don' know if this will ultimately compromise the air bag system or not. It is just plain shoddy workmanship. My 1991 lesabre interior held up much better than this 2001.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.the contact stated that the dashboard was separating from the windshield.the failure began two years ago at the driver side and has now extended to the passenger side.the dashboard is also buckling, crumbling, and warped.the weather may be a factor.the contact can see through the dashboard, but no wires are exposed.the dealer stated that they will replace the dashboard for $600 because it is not covered under warranty.the failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 63,000.* updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

The dash board peeled up. The passenger side airbag is in the area where parts are loose. There have been many reports of this problem in the buick lasabre. I am very concerned the passenger airbag cannot deploy as intended with the dash situation. The date has been estimated as the original owner is now deceased.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the leather interior of the dashboard was fractured and the heater was causing the leather to fracture. The dealer was not informed of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.

In addition, the headliner was tearing. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.

The vehicle has a large center console between two front seats containing two cup holders, the cup holdrers are too large and the plastic retainers are too thin and flexible to provide any stability, a regular size cup (6 oz, 12 oz or 16 oz) can easily turn over splashing fluid.

Earlier this summer, june or july, i took my lesabre in to my dealer where i purchased the car used (in 2006) because my dash had been separating for quite some time.i thought there may have been some sort of recall or technical bulletin for the dash problem, only to find out that they had never seen a problem like mine before.their suggestion was to replace the dash at a cost of nearly $900 and they couldn't be certain that it wouldn't happen again.i had posed the question about the separation causing problems with the air bag system since i had read something about it online.the dealer said they didn't think it would cause a problem.they finally had a service tech come look at the dash and he said he would just "glue it down", put a couple screws through the dash and buy an aftermarket dash cover "if it were him" and sent me on my way.the dash has continually been separating more and more since then.finally, on the 24th of november 2010, as i was driving down a local highway, my air bag dash light came on and the audible alarm sounded.i immediately moved my seat back and went home asap.i looked at the manual to find out that when the air bag light was on it meant that the air bags could 1) not deploy during an accident or 2) depoly at any time without reason.this is a major safety concern and should be dealt with by the factory / dealer / carmaker / etc.this is, in my opinion, no doubt caused by the separating of the dash panel from the rest of the vehicle.please consider this dash separation as a legit problem and something that needs to be taken care of.i can't understand having to pay nearly $900 to fix a problem that many, manypeople are having due to poor design on the part of buick / general motors.an air bag deployment during normal driving will most certainly lead to an accident and possibly a fatality...unacceptable!!!

Dash on 2001 buick lesabre has separated, starting on drivers side and going across to passenger side. I am concerned it can cause airbag to inflate causing an accident. Local dealer said it would have to be replaced for approx. $1000.00.& 2body shops refused to repair. Another shop will replace for $800.00 to $900.00 or repair by removing windshield for $400.00.i know this is a serious problemon 2000 thru 2005 buick lesabras.

The interior front dashboard has curled up starting from the front windshield extending across to the glove compartment. Upon researching this i have found that most 2001 buick lesabres have had the same problem. General motors has not rectified this problem with any recall or recourse. From my understanding this effects the airbags and cause them to deploy unexpectedly. Does someone have to be seriously injured or god forbid killed because of an exploding airbag until general motors acts on their responsibility to correct this unforeseen defect. Please help us owners and have general motors recall the 2001 buick lesabre.. Thank you.

Hankook optimo h727 tires were installed all the way around in mid 2012.after about 15,000 miles, the car began to wobble/vibrate noticeably at speeds over about 45 mph.tires had been regularly rotated, and that has been done on a regular basis since the wobble began.at the last rotation, the mechanic advised that the tires were "chopping" and that was causing the vibration/wobble.

The consumer reported multiple complaints with the vehicle.1)the tie rod on the right side shimmied when vehicle was driven at a speed of 60 mph or more. 2.wheel bearings were making a humming sound when drivenat 30mph. 3.there was a clicking sound in the brakes when braking at anygiven speed. The left rear wheel bearing snapped which caused the tire to wobble and made the vehicle difficultto control.

Rear shock absorbers allows the vehicle's rear wheels to leave the pavement.*mrwhile driving 60-70 mph and hitting rough or uneven pavement, the rear of the car seemed to skid out of control like it was hitting a patch of ice.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who found fluid in the air bag of the rear shock absorbers.the rear shock were replaced with monroe shocks.

Window wiper fluid was empty/ automatic transmission failure/ tire light came on twice, clunk under driver seat.

Rear window falls down.known problem in bucks.very costly temporary fix as window will not stay up for long and will fall down again.my daughter had to drive the car home from school in 10 degree weather after the window fell down. Buick and government protection agency shouldbe ashamed.

The gas hand said it was full, when i drove off the parking lot.. I didn't get off the road, when the car ran out of gas. Cars blowing horns.

The dash board is separating or "bucking up", which can cause the air bag to deploy if it separates too far. The dealer says that it is not covered under the warrantythat i purchased. Does someone have to be seriously injured before something is done about this problem? i have seen other buick lesabres doing the same thing. There should be a recall done on all 2000-2005 lesabres.

While driving 50 mph extreme vibrations occurs, cause unknown.front passenger door lock broke.consumer stated there was a rattle in the dash.consumer attached administrative number vss20010150 which states that some customers comment on shaking/vibration in steering wheel, floor, or seat, it also states to inspect missing balance weights, and tires, possibly tire related.

Dash pad "melted" according to dealer.cost over $800.00 to replace, although vehicle under warranty.

Dash peeling up at windshield on drivers side about half way to passengers side

The dash pad is peeling and warping and i found a site that told me to report it here as a lot of people are having the same issue with several years of the lesabre.

All power windows have failed.

The leather covering on the dash detached from the dashboard at the windshield on the driver side of the car.our concern is; if the car is in a crash will the airbag or impact cause the remainder of the dash to detach and cause additional injury to the passengers.buick claims there is no safety issue and will not repair the dash.

In just a few weeks the dash buckled up almost six inches between the steering wheel and the windshield.contacted gm/buick and they got the local dealer on the phone with us.neither would do a thing except give me a quote of $1000 for replacement.after checking several forums on this issue, it appears there is a definite design/manufacturing problem that gm refuses to acknowledge.prior to this the car had been garage kept and the interior detailed to keep things like this from occurring. Just wait until the airbag deploys while someone is driving and is killed or gravely injured.such a shame this kind of situation needs to occur before something is done!

My daughter, son-in-law, and grandson stopped at my mother's house for just a few min. Then they were going to drive on to my house.we all live within 5 miles of each other.they were all inside my mom's house when they heard and explosion.after looking outside, they seen the car on fire.they are lucky to be here.its a miracle. Your company should have to compensate them for malfunctioning parts.

In jan. 2005 the battery posts corroded off and acid leaked onto floor causing a hole....gm replaced battery....now i have both rear windows fall down and i had to wire them up from inside the door panel to keep them up. No response from gm. Then the left front window fell and i did same thing to it...dealer justsays it is roughly 500.00adoor to fix....this is ridiculous..i have bought only buicks for last 41 yrs and will rethink buyingthe next one.

I have had to replace all four power window motors, the dash is coming apart and is raised blocking some visibility and potentially affecting the air bag deployment in an accident.in addition, it seems to me that braking vibration / pulsation has been a problem on all five of my buick lesabres

2007 the right rear passenger window kept on going down on its own.had a mechanic rip out floor board and found a defective electrical harness, wire exposed causingground out. All windows except drivers will not function, automatic door locks will not work, and when i drive at nite i can see the lights on the passenger side door flicker on for about 10 seconds, again another electrical issue?

The right front window just failed to roll up. When i checked the internet i saw that the regulator on the windows of the buick 2001 were defective so that there were many, many reports that the window regulators had to be replaced at approx. $400 per window. Buick refused to do anything about it.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.while the front passenger side window was in the down position, the mechanism and motor failed.the window was unable to be closed.a repair shop replaced the window motor.a month later, while the rear driver's side window was in the down position, the contact could not roll it back up.the vehicle was not returned to the shop, but he believes that the same failure has recurred.through online research, the contact discovered numerous complaints for the same failure.she believes a recall should be issued.the current and failure mileages were 33,600.

All four window regulators on my buick lesabre ltd. Have failed a least once. Bought new in 2001.now right front window is intermittent. May work may not? these parts are made in korea. So much for outsourcing. All 2000 to 2005 buicks have defective window regulators & need to be recalled. Cost $500.00 per window to repair.

The driver owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the driver was driving approximately 30 mph when the rear driver's window dropped down into its door panel. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was unavailable.

One day i noticed a small separation of the dash behind the steering wheel. Over time the separation grew and grew until its up several inches right in my sight line and has spread almost the length of the dash to passenger side creating a hazardous condition of the airbag being exposed. There is a chat forum with many many buick lesabre owners with same condition and we can not get any help/response from gm other that replacing the dash and a high cost.

Back rear window on drivers side of buick lasabel 2001 just dropped down without any warning or indication of any problems. I was told by mechanics and other individual who have buicks that this is a major problem with buicks and that this is not an odd occurrence. At the time of the incident i had to drive through the remains of a hurricane getting everything wet in the back. I managed to get paper and cardboard push up against both sides of the window while holding it up to keep it up till i was able to get it taped and fixed. This isa serious problem especially with individuals who may have small children. Gm should advise owners of the problem and not let owners hear this from their dealers. Additionally some sort of reimbursement should be made especially when gm is aware of this problem.

Within a period of one month i had three window failures cause by a plastic part breaking leaving the windows in a down position and unable to raise them.it appears this is a very common problem and requires replacing the entire assembly at approximately $500 a window.the part should not be plastic and/ or should be sold as a separate piece not requiring the entire assembly.

Both rear windows failed to go up.one window broke last spring and the other broke shortly thereafter.we inquired from a local dealer the cost to have the regulators repaired and were told the price would be approx. $400 per window therefore we have not had them repaired.the front passenger window has recently begun to hesitate when operating it so we chose not to use the window fearing it would also become stuck in the down position.as of march 27 i began performing searches on the internet for similar complaints and learned this is a known and common problem with the 2001 buick lesabre.therefore i feel a recall should be issued and gm should replace the regulators free of charge.

Rear window regulator have malfunctioned for 3rd time in both rear windows. Oil leaking from valve/heads causing smoke under hood. Door controls shorted out,and electrical problems causing doors to lock and unlock without cause and switching from driver1 to driver2 and back while driving.

4 window regulators failed in one yearon my 2001 buick lasabregm denies any problems.*la

Window regulators on 2000-2001 buicks are faulty. I have had two go out and the cost is $450 per window. Many many people i talk to have the same thing happen with their buick's. Even the repair shop laughs about it and says they are junk. There needs to be a recall issued. The windows go down and stay there until fixed.

The right front window just failed to roll up. When i checked the internet i saw that the regulator on the windows of the buick 2001 were defective so that there were many, many reports that the window regulators had to be replaced at approx. $400 per window. Buick refused to do anything about it.

This is the 25th report of window regulator failure on 2001 buick lesabre sedans. This well documented factory defect costs $400-$500 per window to replace with the same defective part. This is my second rear window failure on this vehicle (both rear).two more windows to go totaling $1,600 (x millions of cars) in dealer repairs that should have been the subject of a factory recall and certainly needs at least a redesigned replacement part.govt. Do your job and make gm fix obvious defects!

Another very common defect with multiple year buicks besides the window regulators that buick refuses to admit fault and refuses to do anything about them. This is about the dash covering pulling away from the windshield and likely cause air bag to discharge and soon will obstruct vision through the windshield. Both of these items are very costly to repair and gn/buick has offered nothing as far as i know to anyone. I will not buy another one. I have had to replace power steering hose at 60,000 and an axle at 90,000 and a tie rod at 50,000. And they wonder why sales from japan are booming??

Dt*:the contact stated both rear power windows would not roll up and failed to properly operate.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and the power window motors were replaced on each rear window which corrected the problem. Updated 06/16/06.

Rear left hand side window regulator has failed on our 2001 buick lesabre--we have researched and found that many other lesabre owners have had to repeatedly replace same window regulator (on all 4 and often more than once) and the cost is very high to do so. It is the opinion of all these owners and myself that a recall should be made by buick and that they are unfairly charging the consumer upwards of $400-$500 for the repair of something that is understood to be a defective (at the least poorly made) part!!

Driver side window will not go down.i am assuming the motor is defective.

Dt:caller stated rear passenger window fell out.the cable snapped ,andcould notroll the window up. Dealer said they broke all the time. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The driver side rear and front passenger power windows failed to close after they were opened. The dealer diagnosed the failure and replaced the regulators.the failure mileage was 20,500 and current mileage was 21,000.

Earlier today i reported problem with both my 2001 buick lesabre rear windows malfunctioning when regulators failed causing windows to drop open and stay that way.this is a very common problem and 21 or 29 owners of 2000-2001 lesabres in one online survey reported one or more windows dropping open.this is a child safety hazard, as the driver may be unaware that the rear window has dropped and a child may fall out.

The passenger side rear window regulator malfunctioned.my daughter was in her child seat and it was pouring rain.i had to pull over, manually pull the window up and from there i had to get a new window regulator online and install it myself.i've read about numerous complaints with the buick lesabre (mine is 2001) window regulators and apparently there's never been a recall.i have the records from the previous owner and sure enough she had at least one fixed also.

I own two 2001 buicks - a century and a le sabre. Over the past ten months, three power windows on the century have failed, and two in the lesabre. Most simply opened by themselves, while car was being driven and no longer responded to the controls. Several were stuck halfway down and did not go up or down with manual manipulation.in the florida heat and sudden severe thunderstorms, this represents a dangerous situation as well as a costly one.

I found the rear driver's window opened on my 2001 buick lasabre and i tried to close using the electric controls - it would not close.i originally thought vandalism because i rarely use that window.i could pull the window up with my hands but it would slide down.i had no control of the window with electric controls.called my dealer noecker buick-pontiac inc who told me to fix the window the regulator (gm#15231245) needed to be replaced.the regulator cost me $301.80 plus tax (not including labor).i had it fixed on june 20, 2005.the mileage on my car that day was 50170 miles.two days ago on march 21, 2006 i found the passenger's rear window opened.the window was inoperable using the electric controls.i can slide the window up using my hands and duct tape it shut until i get the window repaired.the mileage on my car today is 57350 miles.my frustration is both rear windows are rarely used and both needed the regulator repaired.i just call noecher again and they are unaware of any recalls or "special" instruction from buick to help us owners in this situation.again, the person on the phone said most likely it would be the regulator but will not know for sure until they inspect the window.i anticipate another $439.99 bill coming (including parts, labor and taxes).i searched the internet including the nhtsa.dot.gov website and notice this window/regulator problem is common.i feel buick should compensate the owners of 2001 buick lasabre for the faulty regulators.

2001 buick lasabre all four windows had to bereplaced. Three windows three months apart. I'm now driving with the fourth window to be replaced. I understand this has been a problem with the cheap plastic used. It could cause a real serious problem, the glass cracks,be happy it doesn't hit you or a grandchild.this is a problem that should have been recalled.

On buick lesabre, i have had defects on my back windows.i have had to replace the parts as the windows fall down and they will not go back up.it has also happened to my mother's buick lesabre.

This complaint relates to the window problems associated with buick lesabres -- the fact the window mechanism fails, in our case both rear windows, and must be replaced at costs greater than $400.we had 34,00 miles on the car at time of 1st failure.also, our cruise control failed at 17,000 miles.

The power windows have all failed, the regulator and motor assembly in its entirety is replaced. I think it's ridiculous that the failed part rather than the whole assembly is replaced.

Buick lesabre 2001.power control for windows and doors. Defect in the power control for windows.cannot get windows to go back up on right and left rear windows.was repaired 1 time in 2002 by dealership weisner buick. The problem was not corrected because it started doing it again.the car is out of warrenty now and i feel this is a defect that was with the car when purchased. There is something electronically wrong with the power window control and i do not feel that i should have to bear the expense of this. This is definately a defect in the car.

Both rear windows have slid down for no reason, and will not go back up on my 2001 buick lesabre, i have checked with the buick garage, and they want over $1500. To repair them. This happened when there was only 42,000 miles on the car. Updated 01-16-08.the consumer has not had the window repaired. Updated

The passenger side rear power window in my 2001 buick lesabre broke. After researching the problem, there seems to be a common problem with all buick lesabres from 2000 and 2001.this is the first, but i doubt it will be the last.

Power windows on 2001 buick lesabre keep failing.i go to roll a window down, i hear a "crunching" noise, and the window will not either go back up, or it goes halfway up and stops.i have replaced 3 windows to date on a car that only has 28,000 miles on it.it costs 400-600 to replace each window.i searched the internet and there have been a lot of complaints about the windows in the lesabres.gm needs to have a recall on this issue.

Like dozens of others reporting on carsurvey.org my 2001 (2000-2005) buick le sabre power windows are defective. A plastic part breaks requiring replacement of the entire window regulator assembly including motor.dealers charge $500 plus labor for each unit.i had a dealer replace the right rear window unit after the first time i used it. A loud crack upon activation and the window fell to the bottom of the door. Six months later i had to replace the left rear window unit.it took hours to remove and replace it with detailed instructions i found online (so many others had this problem one person documented what you need to know including diagrams).after market parts are available online also. So far they are holding up (2 years).now my drivers door window has snapped but it did so while raising it the few inches it was open so it is closed and staying up for now. That makes three of the four windows.i'm sure the front passenger side will fail as well.gm should have recalled 2999-2005 buicks for these defective windows. You can easily find dozens of similar reported cases online. Otherwise this is a fine, economical, reliable car.too bad the windows ruin the experience.

All four window regulators failed, and when the two rear regulators failed the windows dropped into open position and could not be raised.this exposed the passengers to public safety risks and the elements and at speed could distract a driver and cause an accident. At www.carsurvey.org, 21 out of 29 owners of 2000 & 2001 buick lesabres reported experiencing this problem with at least one and usually several windows!

Back seat window regulator broke while taking child to pediatrician during hailstorm. Window would not roll up and i couldn't pull it up.

2001 buick lesabre limited.left rear power window regulator failed to return window to a closed position.temperature outside the vehicle was 99 degrees f.could not secure vehicle.this problem seems to be prevalent among this family of gm vehicles.repair costs are exorbitant when the fault appears to be a small plastic bracket inside the window regulator.a simple repair kit is needed, rather than replacing the entire regulator.vehicle has less than 60,000 miles on, and windows are not rolled down that often.based on complaints i've seen on other web sites, i can expect to replace the other three regulators, with the cost approaching $2000 for all 4 regulator replacements.

My left rear window in my 2001 buick lesabre made a loud noise and then slid down and will no longer raise up. Because i cannot keep the window up, this has become distracting and has led to water getting in the car in bad weather, which could lead to mold and health problems.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.on three different occasions, beginning on december 6, 2006, the window suddenly dropped when it was being rolled up.on each occasion, the dealer stated that the contact was responsible for replacing the rear passenger side window regulator.the first repair totaled $318 and the subsequent repairs were $270 each.it has currently been eleven months and this will be the third time that the window regulator has been replaced.the vin and purchase date were unknown.the current mileage was 67,000 and failure mileage was 55,000.updated 12/11/07

This is the second posting that i have made in as little as 4 weeks regarding rear passenger side window regulator.i replaced the rear driver side window regulator approximately 4 weeks ago and now the rear passenger side rear regulator has fallen victim to the exact same problem.the part is without question defective in its design and use of plastic componentry.the dealership wants $450 to correct.i decided to fix myself, but would have spent close to $1,000 to correct to date.now i'm waiting on the fronts to break if not the replacements, because as far as i know the replacements are built the same way.of all the problems i have referred to the internet this is a problem that is very common among buick owners.something should be done to protect consumer in regards to this very poorly designed part.

2001 buick lesabre with the problems of failing power regulators.have had two die in less then a month.front and rear drivers side....rear one hardly ever used, but was the first to fail.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.on four separate occasions, the window fell down into the door.the vehicle was taken to a mechanic and it was discovered that the window regulator failed.the windows have been replaced three separate times and now the fourth will have to be replaced.the current mileage was 108,000 and failure mileage was 42,000.update 09/10/08 *cwthe abs module failed. Updated 09/19/08.

- the contact owns a 2001 buick le-sabre with a current odometer reading of 38000 miles.the contact explained that the vehicle had been to the dealer on three separate occasions to replace window regulators of three of the windows. The first repair was of the front passenger side window.the regulator was replaced in april of 2004 at steven smith buick of rogers arkansas.this repair was covered under warranty.the second repair was on the driver's side rear window regulator which was replaced onmarch 6 2006.this repair was not covered under warranty, and cost the contact $407.77.the third repair was of the driver's side front window regulator on february 15, 2007 at coury buick of mesa arizona 85206. This repair was not covered under warranty and cost the contact an additional $500.00.the air condition was blowing hot air. The compressor was replaced. The tie rods were replaced due to excessive play. Updated 03/30/07.

2001 buick lesabre experiencing problems with the power windows.*mrshortly after the 36-month warranty expired the rear power window would go down and not go back up. Buick agreed to fix it free one time. They would not reimburse for the first window failure, which is very unfair as the window elevator mechanism clearly must have a design or manufacture defect.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the window regulators failed to close or open the side windows in the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer stated that the window regulators needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 66,386.

Rear windows failed within 2 days of each other. Rarely used windows.

Power windows will not roll up and when pushed up continue to roll back down.this has been repaired several times. There is enough complaint about this defect that there should be a recall and the source of this problem should be solved instead of saying that it cannot be repaired to last. I think this is a disgrace and will not buy another gmc auto again. This should be reported to the government. Here is what they say:buick power windows drop / broken power windowsmost buick cars, and in fact most other gm cars, have this defect. The power window mechanism breaks - usually cheap plastic parts break in the power window pulley assembly. Gm dealers will only replace the entire assembly, to the tune of $450 per window. Many, many buick owners have written to say they have had to replace most or all four power windows assemblies, and some even had to replace the same power window assembly multiple times. Gm has not changed the design of the replacement parts, so once fixed by the dealer, the problem still exists. The best way to deal with the power window failures is to get the power window assembly from a salvage yard. A lot of people get sick & tired of replacing these again & again, & tape up the window permanently. Currently there is no recall for the power windows, because it is not a safety issue (according to the nhtsa). So far, a class action lawsuit has not been filed.this could be a dangerous situation as my window has gone down when i am in the store etc. Someone could easily get in the car or steal something out of it.i think this is indeed a safety hazard. Also when going down the freeway and the window drops suddenly, it can be startling and could cause a wreck.

Within a one week period, both of the power windows collapsed on my mother '01 buick lesabre.i had to manually pull up the glass and tape it in the "up" position.even so, the interior became very wet when it rained a couple of days later.two of my friends also own buicks, albeit century's, and they have also had the rear windows fall down within the past few months.at a cost of $500 per window to repair!

Defective window regulator.will not power window back up after it is powered down.gm should be forced to fix this problem with a redesign of cheap plastic part causing the problem and then issue a recall.this is a $400 repair for each window and all four windows are likely to fail weather they are used or not.

2001 buick lesabre (42k miles) the rear driver side window regulator and motor failed with the window in the down position.the dealership wanted to charge $330 for the part.i decided to fix on my own by ordering the part online for $100.i inspected the original and noted the use of plastic to drive the cable in the motor housing.this is obviously a serious design flaw - there is no way this will hold up to time and use.unless this is reviewed and addressed by this commission i will have to keep replacing with the same problematic parts.given the large number of complaints i believe this warrants a review.thanks.

2001 buick lesabre rear window fell when rolled down.customer states that the rear window fell when he tried to roll it down.mechanic told the consumer that the power windows were broken.

I own a 2001 buick le-sabre. I have had two power window regulaters fail and it would have cost about $500 each had i not had extended warranty. The car had about 25,000 miles on it. I was told that this was not a common problem. While standing there, another service rep. Was talking to a customer about the same failure. This seems to be systemmic problem and the public needs to be protected.

1. Lowered electric rear window for visibility, window was snow covered2.windowwould not go back up, putting rear passenger at risk from exterior debris.3. Ordered new regulator. Old regulator will be available.

My 2001 buick lasabre, all four power window regulators have failed in a 2-3 year time, vehicleehad 55,000 when failures occurred, failure was in the connection of of the cable attachment to the window lift regulator. Plastic retainers had split allowing cable to pull loose. Windows cannot be operated when failure occurs.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.the contact stated that the window regulators that allow the windows to roll up and down have failed.the first three regulators were replaced on april 2, 2004 and the last one was replaced on october 8, 2004.the dealer is aware of the failure, but refuses to reimburse the contact.the current mileage was 84,500 and failure mileage was 45,104.updated 09/18/07

We have had 2 buick lesabres and both have had problems with the window regulators. The window gets stuck in the down position and we are unable to raise the window. We have had to purchase a new regulator to repair the problem.

Electric window motor has gone out on 3 of my 4 windows within 30 days.lso, tie rod ends had to be replaced on within same time frame.

2001 buick lesabre, window regulator on front passenger and rear drivers side broke, causing window glass to drop rapidly.on inspection same piece broke on both, the top plastic guide for the regulator motor cable.installed an aftermarket part after finding out buick replaces regulator with identical faulty components.aftermarket has beefed up guide on regulator.both failures were caused by normal use.window glass cannot be secured after regulator failure without replacement.parts were exchanged during purchase of replacement.

Noticed driver side rear window was down on thursday 11/1/07. Tried to close it, but control didn't work and window kept sliding down into the door.was able to pull up and tape shut until repair.on sunday 11/4/07 the rear passenger window was down and wouldn't go up. The rear windows are never lowered.local mechanic was able to repair at a cost of $443 for both windows. Dealer was going to charge around $500 a window. After seeing hundreds of complaints of these plastic regulators failing, gm should be forced to recall or reimburse owners for this repeated failure that seems to have existed for several years.

I own a 2001 buick lesabre. The window regulator just went out. I had it repaired at the dealership costing 450. I then did research online and found that this was a very common problem. Having to replace the regulator at 50,000 is ridiculous. It is a very expensive repair when i should expect to replace all 4 at 450 each for a total of 1800 dollars.

The windows keep falling down. They have been repaired seven times and the same piece keeps breaking. Now i only have one window that works.

The window regulator broke while attempting to roll the rear right window down. The regulator broke because the plastic spool that the steel cable goes around wears after a period of time. This could be avoided if the spool was made of metal.the consumer stated that the power window regulator on his vehicle was improperly designedcausing early failure.*tc

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.when the contact clicks the window switch, the windows roll down but fail to roll up.the failure has occurred three times.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage is 73,000 and failure mileage was 36,000.

We have had all 4 of our window regulators replaced on our 2001 buick lesabre within a month of each other. The windows fall down unexpectedly. It has cost us $200 each to have them replaced. I personally will never own another buick if this is the way gm handles things. Also, the dashboard skin has peeled away on the driver's side and slowly proceeding to the passenger side.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre.the contact stated that the passenger side rear power windows failed to close after they were opened.the mechanic stated that the window regulator caused the failure and he made the repair.approximately one year later, the same failure occurred on the driver side rear power window.the mechanic stated once more that the window regulator caused the failure and he made the repair.the powertrain was unknown.the failure mileage was 39,271 and current mileage was 46,771.updated 12/12/2007 updated 12/12/07

3rd incident of electronic window failure -- both back seat windows motors have had to be replaced, the front seat passenger window broke 12/31/07.the car has 36,304 miles on it.this is in addition to the cruise control breaking at less than 18,000 miles.

While driving, a loud banging noise was heard coming from the passenger's side tire.the consumer took thevehicle to the dealer for inspection and the mechanic determined the driver and passenger side tie rods needed to be replaceddue to worn out parts.the left front window was inoperative due to the regulator shorting out and there was a rattle in the dash on the passenger side due to the right and left outer tie rods being loose. *sc

My back right power window on my 2001 buick lesabre custom does not roll up. I have already replaced the back left window at a cost of $600-what a rip off by buick-this should be a recall-i have read 100's of comments regarding this same problem and buick takes no responsibility--this should be a recall on the cheap plastic parts used in these expensive priced cars! i never use the back windows-this is probably only the 8th time since 2001 that i have even rolled the window down. How can the dealer charge such an outrageous amount to repair when the part only costs $99.00?gm should be ashamed.i won't buy another buick.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the dashboard had begun separating from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the failure was caused by the heat and temperature changes, which deteriorated the material. The vehicle was not repair and the dealer offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was notified who stated that the vehicle was not under warranty and to have the vehicle taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased for a diagnostic. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 61,000. Updated 10/10/12 updated 10/11/2012

2001 buick lesabre. I too have had 3 regulator failures.2 were covered under an extended warranty plan.the 3rd just occurred. Why hasn't' there been a recall??

I have a 2001 buick lasabre that i have had to replace the window regulator in two windows and now the third window is broken.in july 2006 the passenger side front window quit working, and in april 2007 the right rear passenger window quit working.each of these windows cost over $500 to repair.now the rear driver side window is broken and i am assuming the driver side front window will break if i do not get rid of the car soon.i am going to get a new car, but you can bet it will not be a gm.

Had to replace rr window regulator, window would not operate. This is the second regulator that had to be replaced (lr window).i was told by one of the emoloyees that she had 3 window regulators to go bad.just about everyone i talked to has had this problem with the 2001 model.

I own a 2001 buick lesabre that has 72000 miles on it. In the last 3 months both rear windows have fallen down while driving the car. We have no small children and the windows are used extremely infrequently. Have researched this equipment failure on the internet and it is an ongoing problem that buick is aware of but fails to address.i did some research on edmunds. Com and found that a bulletin (bulletin #3483 on jan 2001, item #85 on list) was sent out from general motors to??, i'm guessing dealerships, so they knew this was a problem even then... It states (as typed by them) "visibility: power window devices and controls vehicle:2000 buick lesabresummary: power window inoperative, noisy or glass drops. (nhtsa item number- 100117398) "adding insult to injury the cost to have this repaired is outrageous. $400.00 to $600.00per window . The design of using a steel cable that is spooled around a thin plastic spool to raise and lower the window only guarantees 1 thing...certain failure of the part and a nice juicy profit on the repair. I do not know and have not heard of an accident being caused by this problem but the potential is high. I know i would definitely be distracted if my window suddenly fell while driving in the middle of a rain storm or any inclement weather.i would like to see buick/gm held accountable and see some financial recompensefor knowingly releasing a subpar and defective part.

All four of my window regulators failed over a period of 3 years.most of the windows were rarely used.these window regulator failures seem to be common in certain years and models of buick.the parts and labor to repair the regulators are very ridiculous.this should have been a recall item or at the very least parts should have been sold for much less.i repaired one of my regulators myself, but the part cost over $300.i learned from this site i can order the regulators on line for 20% of the part cost from buick.they are not hard to replace, but it is an aggravation that shouldn't be.

2001 buick lesabre. Consumer states all four window mechanisms failed in rapid succession *tgwthe consumer stated the failure was due to a plastic hook. However, the dealer stated it was due to normal wear and tear.

The electric window regulators are poorly made and subject to failure even with little use of the windows.

Operating mechanisms on the rear window broke causing the window to go down and stay down.we had to replace the whole mechanism.a few months later the other rear window did the same thing. I think the cables are defective. Is there a recall on the mechanisms?we also had to replace an idler pulley after 40,000 miles.

A reflection is createdfromthe dash board acrossthe total windshield 12anches above the dashboard creating agray area..within thisarea the defrosteris projected onthe windshield creating a very distracting& annoying image distractingmy view of theroad.when gmwas contacted ,they contacted thedealerwho stated "i should have thewindshield lightly tinted.

Consumer is expiercing fog inside ofvehicle, cannot see road.

The rear rotors were hanging up, make noise, pulsate, and the front end of thevehicle vibrates.the consumer states that the front end vibrates, the door assembly is misaligned, sticks out, and noisy, the tire was changed but failed balance and theres a vibration, the engine stumbles/stalls, the interior cloth by the top of the windshield is loose-3 times, can hear a moan coming from the windshield, the onstar antenna fell apart, the torsion rod vibrates, the steering shudders at slow speeds and on turns and the hose/bulletin # 99-02-32-007a, power steering, and hydraulics have been replaced-8 times, the a/c blows hot air/bulletin #990139-004a, and the vehicle pops/bangs when going over bumps and making turns, theres a rattle noise from under vehicle/possible exhaust or air pump-cause:intermediate exhaust pipe rattling (internal) front exhaust manifold to oxidation catalytic converter-replaced, wheel alignment (pulls to the left), there was a rattle noise from the left side of the pillar molding/removed the a-pillar trim and insulated/align/against upper dash, and getting poor fuel economy/idle air control-reppaced.*scc

Vehicle was involved in a lateral collision; upon impact, side air bags did not deploy. Three people were injured in the accident. The windshield was not properly installed at the time the consumer purchased the vehicle. All four doors were leaking and were repaired three times.

Window wiper fluid was empty/ automatic transmission failure/ tire light came on twice, clunk under driver seat.

Left windshield wiper failed during a strorm, increasing the risk of a crash. Informed dealer that wiring would have to be replaced.the 25704865 arm, where it connects to the transmission motor shaft stripped the threads. This part was replaced, not the wiring.

The contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. The contact stated that the center of the wheels had a tight fit over the center axle and if the wheels were not taken off frequently, rust would form. He stated that the wheels had to be forced off of the vehicle sincethere was not enough "free play" to separate the tire from the wheel. He was concerned that if he had a flat tire, he would not be able to remove the wheel to install the spare tire. The contact called the manufacturer but was offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. The vin was unavailable. The current mileage is approximately 137,000. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.updated 9/13/10 updated 09/15/10

During routine service, it was discovered the 3 hold down bolts were missing on the right rear wheel.

While driving at 40 mph. The aluminum rim exploded. However, the tire was not damaged.please provide any further information.
